Front driver's seat headrest deployed while vehicle was turned off and unoccupied. Attempt to replace headrest resulted in vehicle not starting.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to frontier dodge chrysler jeep (5801 spur 327, lubbock, tx) where it was diagnosed that the electrical wires were frayed.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 78,000.

I flipped on my brights, while driving at night on back roads.the dash lights all lit up, the light brightness began blinking in and out, and even the radio switched off and on.when i turned the brights off, the airbag light stayed lit, then the stability assist light lit back up.i flipped the brights on again, with the same result as the first time.i have since been made aware that the tipm is faulty.i had a problem with the airbag light at mile 172 when i first bought the vehicle new.at that time, i was told that the original tipm was faulty and it was replaced.55000 miles on the vehicle, and we are working on tipm number three.both of our tipm issues have involved airbag function, which makes this a dangerous problem.

I bought my vehicle at a chevrolet dealer and they have no info if there is a recall on dodge vans regarding airbag lights coming on and off, i searched for a recall on this but only found it on other dodge vehicles. It has been doing it for almost 3 weeks now, on occasion stays on for a day or two or comes on and off for several minutes and some days does not come on at all. It comes on when first start vehicle or while in motion.

My airbag light keeps coming on while i'm driving .it comes on at all different times . Highway or city streets.

Head rests spontaneously exploded while parked.

The airbag light on the dash just came on for no reason. The van is at 96k miles. No accidents haveoccurred.

At about 93,000 miles, airbag light came on and stays illuminated. Apparently not covered under extended warranty. Same vehicles different years had recalls for this issue. This is a safety issue while driving. Will they still deploy in case of accident? or will they deploy and cause an accident?

On friday 9/4/20 while driving my mother home the driver's side headrest exploded slamming into the back of my head!i was driving 70 mph on texas hwy 111 going east, no collision of any kind and out of the blue it exploded.*dtconsumer stated she had a severe headaches, neck, and upper back pain.

The vehicle airbag lights stay on...the windshield wipers cut on by themselves and the window rolls down by itself.the car can be stationary or in motion.

The airbag light began going on intermittently, at mile 142, on day 3, of owning my brand new vehicle. I took it back to the dealership, and they reset the computer. The same night, the problem recurred. The dealer set up another appointment for me, on day 8 of ownership. That night, they called to advise me that the tipm was faulty, and that the part is on backorder. They have since put me in a rental car, and i don't know when the part will be in. I have now learned that there is a class action against chrysler regarding this exact part. It causes many dangerous safety issues, not limited to airbag issues. I am extremely concerned for my family's safety, once i get my new car back. I am unconvinced that the new tipm will not continue to be a danger to us.

Active headrest deployed without a crash. Plastic retaining slots broken. Car was not moving. This is the second one to break like this and i'm not happy about having to pay another $900 for what is obviously a design flaw

Came out to vehicle to drive and noticed driver side headrest was deployed forward and came apart. The vehicle was not in an accident and there were no prior alarms or notifications on the dash system to indicate this would happen. Luckily the headrest didn't deploy while someone was driving. The dodge dealer says this repair or replacement is not their responsibility. This issue has not currently been resolved.

I have a 2014 dodge grand caravan and the air bag stays on i was driving in the freeway when i noticed the airbag light stays on

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the driver's side head rest suddenly deployed without warning. The failure occurred while the contact was attempting to readjust the head rest. There were no injuries. The cause of the failure was not determined. Bank crossing dodge (2377 homer rd, commerce, ga) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 55,000.

On tuesday 10/18/2016, i was backing the van out of the garage and stopped to adjust the tilt when the airbag light suddenly came on. Took it to the dealer (10/20/2016) and was told they wanted $115 to run the diagnostic. All safety related issues with any vehicle should be warrantied for the life of the car.

The dashboard light and bell for air bags keeps coming on.car was being driven on regular roads from 35 to 70 miles per hr

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. On several occasions, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The contact was also concerned about the totally integrated power module. The contact stated that the driver and passenger side windows would roll up or roll down independently. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed, but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failures. The contact stated that the failures were intermittent. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 22,000.

My driver side headrest airbag deployed while vehicle was parked.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle crashed the vehicle into the rear of a second vehicle. The contact indicated that during the crash, the front driver and passenger side air bags failed to deploy. The driver sustained injuries to the head, neck, and chest. The front passenger sustained injuries to the back and chest. The contact stated that both occupants required medical treatment. A police report was filed at the scene. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,800. Updated 3/12/15updated 6/19/2015

The driver side headrest deployed in my 2014 dodge grand caravan while i was driving on the highway. After closer inspection the plastic clips that retain the metal lock bar (not sure exactly what this is called) broke. This cannot be disengaged and nearly caused me to wreck my van. Called the dealership and they said no recalls are in place for this. This is insanely dangerous.

The contact rented a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that after the vehicle was started, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,900.

Seatbelt and buckle assembly caused the airbag light to come on indicating that airbags will not deploy in an accident.

After going sideways into a very steep ditch, both driver and passenger front side airbag charges went off, but neither airbag deployed. The seat belt locked so tight that i couldn't reach the door handle or window switch, or unbuckle the seat belt to exit the vehicle.

Backing out of driveway and drivers side headrest popped open

Airbag light is on have never been in a car accident and it's not snowing where i'm at there's no reason it should be on and when i move the seat back and forth the light will go off or on when adjusting the seat. And the car could be stationary or moving when i adjust the seat for the light to go on.

My 2014 dodge grand caravan has about 40k miles and the air bag warning light activates intermittently. I have an extended warranty that does not cover airbags and the dealership (with whom i purchased the warranty) has no interest in diagnosing the issue unless i pay an up-front fee. I think a vehicle this new should not be having this issue in the first place as it is obviously a defect or an electrical failure of some sort. Do i have any recourse? thanks!

While driving on the interstate the passenger side headrest deployed.my son was sitting in the seat at the time and luckily was leaning forward at the very moment it exploded or this could have been a very different description.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. While the vehicle was parked, the front passenger seat head rest air bag abpruptly deployed. The front passenger seat was unoccupied. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The dealer was not notified. The failure mileage was 205,000.

My signature got forged

Company employee reported that while driving our company's 2014 dodge caravan the air bag warning light came on, on the dash. Immediately took the van to the auto repair shop they determined, by computer code, that the driver's side side airbag was defective and needs replaced. Since this is a dealer product it will be over $540 dollars to fix the issue.

The driver's side head restraint air bag deployed while vehicle was being driven in good weather, on a smooth city street at approximately 30 mph in light traffic.the failure appears to have happened in two stages, a slight bump forward by the head rest, alerting my wife, the driver, to a problem.then while still driving the complete failure occurring approximately two or three minutes later, smacking my wife in the back of her head smartly.after stopping at a convenience store we conducted a visual examination of the device which revealed a shattered, thin plastic bracket inside the head rest.my assumption is this bracket failed on one side and caused the first bump, and then the other side failed causing the sharper blow.this action could have resulted in severe consequences if full deployment had occurring all at once during operation on a highway or at a greater speed.

Air bag sensor light keeps coming on. Took to dealership and service states kids feet must be kicking it lose or shoving bottle under seat. 1st off vehicle is suppose to be to transport especially kids! kids have not been in vehicle for month and light is now coming on. Went off for a couple of weeks again and now comes on and shuts off when hitting slightest bump in road. Questioning if faulty or bad connector but service states they will charge me to fix it despite warranty. Please help me!

At approximately 46,600 miles the airbag warning light/alert came on whjile driving on the highway. It now randomly comes on while driving.sometimes it stays lit during the whole trip, sometimes it turns on and off several times during one trip.speed does not matter as it comes on at random.also, it comes on whether there are 6 passengers or just the driver.

I purchased a 2014 dodge grand caravan with approximately 60000 miles. The vehicle had one owner before me. At around 64,000 miles, my airbag light started coming on intermittently. It comes on and goes off when i hit bumps, apply brakes, or accelerate and sometimes when making turns. Also was the third owner of a 2002 model chrysler town & country that had a similar problem do to a defective clock spring. Now have a 2014 grand caravan with way lower miles and this appears to be a common problem with chrysler group. I attempted to contact the dealership i purchased the 2014 grand caravan from and told them the situation and they told me i was out of there 90 day warranty which led me into my extended warranty that i purchased for the vehicle which charges a deductible of $250. Don't know if this is due to a defective clock spring as this could be a different part failure. However checking the prices, a clock spring for a 2014 dodge grand caravan just for parts cost around $300 plus tax. I am now stuck with a $15,000 vehicle that could kill me in the event of a crash due to a faulty airbag system that has a possibly failing part for the last 20 years made by dodge and chrysler group and has somehow never been recalled. The only recall that has been made with this van was the vent window switch which was replaced. Also got a letter in the mail regarding a warranty extension on a headrest restraint however this was not a recall. Based on a common problem with clock springs especially made by dodge and chrysler group i have reason to believe that dodge has been making faulty clock springs from 2002 all the way up to 2014 and possibly still does as of 2021. I wonder how many dodge grand caravans / chrysler town & countrys over 60k-100k miles chances are your airbag light might be coming on and turning off while driving. Have to pay out-of-pocket. Problem may come back.

While parkedheadrest on passanger side front seat deployed no impact to van.only seat that deployed .

The passenger side airbag inside the headrest deployed on it's own while sitting in a parking lot. The vehicle was stationary and unattended.

I came out of my house on friday morning (09/26/2014) to find my van parked in my carport with the engine running.apparently my car had started the engine and ran for about 20 minutes by itself with no human interaction, this is strange because i do not have a remote starter and it does not have the ability to start on its own.as i approached the car i could see that there was no key in the ignition and that the doors were still locked.i have 2 key fobs, both were in my possession, and using one of the key fobs i was able to unlock the drivers door.there was no sign of forced entry, i am the only one living at my residence and no one else had access to the car keys. I found the ignition switch was in the off position so i inserted the key fob and turned it to the on position an back to the off position several times but the engine continued running. I called the dealership that sold me the vehicle and talked with 2 different service technicians but neither one could offer an explanation. They asked me to bring the vehicle in for service, which i did and i am currently waiting on the disposition.after i got off the phone with the service technician the car stopped running and i was then able to use the key fob to turn on the ignition and to start and stop the vehicle normally.i have owned the van about 3 months and prior to this event i noticed that my power door locks were open sometimes after i had left the car locked. Up until this incident i hadassumed that i accidently mashed the unlock button on my key fob while it was in my pants pocket, but now i am not so sure.

My 2 front windows completely stopped working. The other windows still roll up and down. I hear a clicking sound on the passenger side like the window wants to work the driver side in hear nothing at all.

We received a notice of the rear quarter vent window switch safety recall in may of 2014, indicating that there was an issue and that we'd be contacted again when repairs could be addressed. We did not receive another notice until january 2015, which said we'd need to contact our dealer to schedule a repair. When contacting our dealer, multiple times... They finally told us that they're getting about 2 parts per week... And there is a backlog of over 20 people on the list ahead of us. This amount of time to resolve a safety issue is unacceptable. Please help address this so that the process may be improved.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v234000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. Unlocking the door causes a loud buzzing sound to emit from the passenger side sliding door. I

Intermittently the vehicle will shut off engine during stop and with have to turn key over again. We've had this van for 3 weeks and it has happened twice. Both times have been when decelerating to a stop. The first time it happened while in reverse and the second time it happened when in drive moving forward to a stop.

My window vent switch in driver side door caught fire

The van does not allow you to manually check the transmission fluid,it dealer only and a lot of dealers want check levels when you get a oil change,so if leaking you want no.then you end up with a broken transmission.once they service and rebuild your trans, then the control dash board sensors want operate probably anymore due to thecalibrations want work probably.the vehicle was in motion when it stopped on the highway.miles were 47940.back defrost light splinks and want go off and causes radio to short out and hvac system.dealer dont know how to fix the problem.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. While the vehicle was parked, the contact attempted to open the front driver's side door, but it failed to open. The contact noticed a burning odor and smoke emitting from between the driver's seat and the door. The contact entered the vehicle and observed that the door and door frame were melted. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they would send someone to investigate within 3-4 business days. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v234000 (electrical system). The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

The 2014 dodge grand caravan has issues with shutting down without warning. It happens right after starting the vehicle and has shut off while in park as well as backing out of park. There are no lights that come on the dash panel to indicate a problem and the problem cannot be replicated for repair; it happens without warning at random times. Has happened at random intervals since 40,000 miles; most recent event was around 60,000 miles on 09/15/2017.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. When the vehicle was started, the tire pressure warning indicator illuminated. Engine has cut off nine times leaving no power brakes or steering.vehicle has accelerated four times.dealership cannot find a problem.engine idles very rough.

We own a 2014 dodge grand caravan with 41000 miles on it that has been stalling while driving at mostly in town speeds. No power steering assist , no power brake assist. This vehicle is equipped with hand controls for a disabled driver. With one hand on the steering wheel and one hand on the brakelever all you can do is coast to a stop. Yes the same failures as the 2008 thru 2010 grand caravans that were recalled. The ignition switch has a weak detent spring in it. We had the switch and both keys replaced at a local dealership in rural wisconsin that just happened to have the switch in stock. The service writer got into the vehicle and jiggled the key which shut of the ignition and stated yes this is a bad switch just like the recalled ones.. I have called chrysler asking for them to cover the cost of $977.91and they just reply with " i am sorry but your vehicle is out of warranty"

I have a 2014 dodge grand caravan and the air bag stays on i was driving in the freeway when i noticed the airbag light stays on

All lights are flashing and there are weird noises from under hood .van does not want to start. There is clicking noise under tipm module. I am lucky it did not break while driving because we use it as a family car. From what i read on internet it seems like a tipm failure . And. It happens 1 month after my warranty had expired.

Overheating of the vent window switch in the driver's door armrest as well as the interior door opening handle. Hot to the touch.

The "clock spring" behind the steering wheel broke which caused the steering wheel located electrical buttons to stop functioning for making uconnectphone calls, adjusting the radio volume, switching from one media (fm,am,cd, audio streaming and satellite radio) to another, accessing the dash panel odometer, outside temperature, digital speedometer reading, avg mpg, miles to go before running out of fuel and the reset function. This happened whether or not the vehicle was moving or turning or stationary.

The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v373000 (air bags, electrical system). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 54,320.

Tire pressure warning light stuck on constantlynow both front seat head rests have popped open loudly one while driving and the other whole car turned off and parked. Cannot comfortable sit in seat any longer and if it had popped while i was in the seat i'd have had neck problems

I was driving at night and all of a sudden the car died while in motion; the engine stop working, the lights went very dim and it was difficult to drive it at that moment, i almost got hit from the car behind me and i was close to hit the car in front of me. I didn't get any warning lights for the engine or the battery. I tried to turn it on again and it cranked but didn't start. A little latter i tried again and the car started. While driving back home i notice that the lights were dim, but i didn't get any warning lights from the engine or the battery again. I also noticed that the stereo reset all the stations and the clock. It was very dangerous. I am very upset because that's the car my kids ride everyday.

How come we were notified of what appears to be a fairly simple recall at least 6 months ago (to replace a window switch) and nothing has happened.it appears that this recall along with many others are just being ignored by the car companies.is there no time limit or enforcement with these recalls?my feeling is that if the car companies can wait long enough these cars will age-out and go away.

I took my vehicle in as requested for chrysler recall # p25 back in may 2014 and they disconnected the switch and we are still waiting for the fix???

Vehicle was shutdown. When returned the engine would not start. After trying several options it failed to start. Waited about 5 min. And it started. Evidently the computer reset itself and cleared the problem.

Anytime the car is moving or in park and you unlock or lock the back rear right door makes a buzzing noise i have seen hundreds of people online with the same complaint it needs a recall

Our 2014 dodge grand caravan is exhibiting the same symptoms as those presented in recall p64/nhtsa 14v-632 and investigation with nhtsa action number: dp14004. The air bag light comes on frequently, the low tire pressure light comes on frequently and the traction control light comes on frequently. The van is a wheel chair accessible van. I contacted the dealer where i purchased the van, which is a specialty company, not a dodge dealer. They instructed me to contact dodge. The local dodge dealer stated my van does not fall under the recall, even though it's having the same symptoms. I am bringing it to the dealer where i purchased it so they can look it over again, but they can't do recall work. My van is at risk of catching on fire while i'm transporting my disabled daughter.

We rented this vehicle in michigan to take on a family vacation to florida.on the way home, south of atlanta on i-75 in four lanes of traffic with the vehicle set on cruise control at 75 mph, i noticed that the car ahead of me was getting more distance between us, when i looked down at my speed i realized that all of the gauges on the dash were at zero or in the off position, at the same time i noticed no throttle.calmly, i put the hazard lights on and made my cost across the four lanes of traffic to the shoulder...... With what seemed to be no power steering.it was alarming to me that there was no tones or warning lights on the dash.being aware of the gm ignition recalls that i had seen on tv, i looked at the ignition and it was in the off position, turned it and stared.before we took off again i checked with my leg to see if maybe it was possible that my knee had bumped it, i am 6'2 and i couldn't come close unless i took my foot off the floor.we drove the rest of the way home and no more problems.the only thing i can assume it that the key had a pretty hefty plastic key tag from the rental company.i am telling my story now because of the recent ignition problems with chrysler i am learning about via news.

The ac was not working. Had it charged. Still no ac. Took the van to a shop and found via diagnostics something with the tippin module was wrong as well as a warning on the transmission that may be from the tippin module being bad was explained. Two months left on payments. Very pricey repair. My wife myself and our 5 kids will be walking for a bit. I recommend folks think twice on purchasing a caravan.

I received a recall notice from chrysler stating my rear vent windows electric motor was defective and needed to be replaced. The dealer disconnected the motor on or about 8/15/14. I received the notice 1/7/15. Followed the directions to get repair performed at the dealer where vehicle was purchased.i've now made four calls to dealer and they keep stating parts are not available.why would a recall notice be sent and then not have the parts available two moths after sending me the notice???? is the dealer at fault or is chrysler corporation?very poor customer service by someone but who.......

During traffic at roughly 10pm, the charge indicator light came on.our vehicle all of a sudden started losing power on the freeway.by the time we got to the next exit, we were losing power with steering, causing us to crash into a fire hydrant.we were able to guide it into a parking spot before losing the rest of the electrical capabilities (windows, lights, etc.).my family was stuck in that desolate are with no way to charge our phone and two sleeping young children.after getting it towed, the vehicle ended up in the shop for a little under 3 weeks for repair to the collision that had occurred.the electrical checked good.the next day, the charging indicator light again went on after being on the road for roughly 18 miles.thank goodness this time it all happened in the day and we were stuck in a better area.after checking good again at the collision center, the vehicle was transferred to the dodge dealer for further diagnosis.this is when they finally pinpointed it was an alternator issue.thankfully the vehicle is still under warranty.

Almost six months and still cannot get the rear quarter vent window switch issue solved. Help!!

Rented this vehicle from enterprise rent a car, oriskany blvd, yorkville ny for a family vacation.driving along rt 81s through pennsylvania when all of a sudden in the passing lane, the vehicle went dead. Had no indication went happened, managed to go across the extreme busy highway to right shoulder of road, knowing that the power steering and brakes would at some point stop working with engine off.this van has the new key fob system with it being in the dashboard, above one's knee. We realized after seeing all the panel lights lite up, the van was off.that is when my son-in-law saw the key onthe floor by my feet.i had just re-positioned my right leg due to cramps, and unbeknownst to me, it must of hit the key. No reason this key should of fallen out due to that! everyone was hysterical when the van went dead thinking someone would hit us and we would die.i asked enterprise for an incident report form and they did not have one, only accident forms. I told the branch manager i was reporting it to your site.license plate number-->[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Consumer writes in regards to a defective rear quarter vent switch recall, lack of parts.

Have received two recall notices p25/ nhtsa 14v-234 (rear quarter window switch may overheat); the first in june 2014 and the second january 2015. Local dealer says the parts have not yet been made available to dealers. This seems like an unreasonable amount of time for parts to be made available.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. Monday 3/25/19 10:55am car indicator lights briefly flashed while car was in motion during a turn and then suddenly died. No brakes, no power steering, absolutely nothing worked. Was able to turn car back on and get to parking lot. Same day after leaving(2:30pm) sitting at a busy intersection waiting on red light. Car dash lights again briefly flash and car turns off. Took about 10 min before i was able to start the car again. While sitting in a busy turn lane and not even having hazard lights work with kids in the car. Took car to get battery, alternator, and starter checked. All checked out good. Friday 3/29/19 while driving at 45 mph(8:30 am)car dash lights briefly flash and car turns off. Again no power steering, brakes ect. Waa able to coast to side of rode. Couldn't even take the key out. Also took about 1.5 hrs before it would start again. Each occurance has also set clocks back to the 12:00 time. Research has shown me that it is a common problem with this vehicle and that it is the fuel pump relay. This part was recalled on durangos and jeeps but caravan did not make the list. Although per what i have read on this site and various others it is an obvious common problem. Vehicle is at 68,000 and is being taken in on sunday 3/31/19. Where i have already indicated to mechanic what i want replaced due to the fact it is not an easily replicated problem on command and there is no code to check. It seems like the best course of action to tell them to just replace it. This should be a recall matter.

Without any warning while driving the vehicle cuts off leaving the driver without brakes and steering.

I flipped on my brights, while driving on back roads at night.the dash lights all lit up, the light brightness began blinking in and out, and even the radio switched off and on.when i turned the brights off, the airbag light stayed lit, then the stability assist light lit back up.i flipped the brights on again, with the same result as the first time.

The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was corrosion of unspecified wiring that burned out the fuel pump. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.

We purchased the vehicle on 9/27/15. On 10/3/14 while driving 70 mph on the interstate the vehicle died and shook violently. All system indicator lights flashed randomly. 10/4/14 the vehicle died while at a stop sign. 5/6/15 the vehicle died while at a stop sign. 5/10/15 the battery light appeared for 2 hours.

Driver side window/lock control not working.a/c fan going on and off

Received a recall from chrysler in june 2013. I have been waiting for parts since then. Dealer says there is nothing they can do except remove the switch and disable the windows. Recall title was rear quarter vent window switch recall# p25/nhtsa 14v-234.

I had an electrical fire in my 2014 caravan, the fire started in the area of the tipm module and burned up a wiring harness in close proximity to the tipm module as well. The fire started while we were driving the vehicle. I recently found a defect investigation to do with 2008-2014 chrysler town and country and dodge grand caravan tipm modules the nhtsa action number was dpi4004 and also stated other various issues including the failure of the instrument panel. We also had the instrument panel shut down while driving a while back, but everything came back on and this incident hasn't happened again. I am concerned with the safety of the vehicle and wanted to make people aware of the issues i have had. It seems really fishy that there was a previous investigation into the tipm module, and that two of the incidents that i have experienced are called out in the report mentioned above.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost power and all the warning indicators on the instrument panel illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000.

Driver stopped at a stop sign, turned right, accelerated to 10-15 mph and the vehicle's engine shut off. At the same time the four way lights began flashing, horn sounded (like a car alarm activated - on-off-on-off), wipers began moving back and forth along with wind shield fluid spraying out.after coasting to a stop, the driver smelled something burning and immediately evacuated the vehicle and called 911. Fire crews arrived to find a fire in the engine compartment, driver's side. Fire extinguished with water. No injuries. Vehicle towed to secure location for further investigation. ...updated 10/30/18 *dt *dt

I have received a safety recall notice (p25/nhtsa 4v-234) for our 2014 dodge grand caravan rear quarter panel window switch.our vehicle was taken in during the summer months to stew hanson dodge in clive, ia.the switch was disconnected, and i have been awaiting further contact from them ever since.i have inquired to them on multiple occasions about the status of the new part and when they will completely fix the issue.each time, i am told by their service department that they do not have any new parts, and will contact me as soon as they have them.i feel that 6 months is a sufficient time frame to have this fixed, think it is unacceptable that this has not been taken care of sooner.meanwhile, i haven't been able to use the window in my vehicle because of this.i would like to have a remedy to this problem as soon as possible.thank you for your time.

Side driver's passenger slide door will not unlock or open. Lock on inside will not move. Unable to unlock with key fob or drivers door unlock switch.this can be a safety hazard with kids in the back. I only have a little over 60,000 miles on the car the car was parked in the drive way. I went to load the kids and couldn't open the door

Vehicle will not start. Good battery all electronic and doors work. No code. Click sound at the ignition switch. Engine will not turn over. Owned vehicle 6 days.

On 12-23-2019 at approximately 11:49 pm; my engine shutdown while driving at 30-mph down a city street.incident nearly caused a crash..

The drivers side passenger door (slider) opens and shuts but must not be fully latching because you can hear the motor in the door trying to latch and it sounds like its continually trying to latch and just keeps going off when it's super hot out and it has now killed the battery in the van. When i was able to drive the van it would chime and say the door was open and continue sounding like it was trying to latch. We bought the van at the end of february so i have no idea if it ever happened to the previous owner.

I purchased the vehicle on10-30-14and took it to the dealer service dept. On1-13-15with the complaintthe radio function / station/time display is so dim that it can not be readily be seen in daylight unless it happens to be shaded .on a bright sunny day,it is almost impossible to read it, even the time display is hard to read. I was surprised when the dealer told me it was normal. The safety issue is very clear to me.in order to even see the time, a driver has to take their eyes off the roadand look at it for a longer than normal time.same for seeing the radio function or station.also a driver may shade the display with the right hand in order to see it.gm vehicles all have a bright clear display that can be seen in the strongest sunlight. I can say for sure that accidents are going to happen because people will be taking their eyes off the road and right hand off the wheelto see these radios.i consider this to be not only a major design defect , but a lack of common sense.thanks

Our alternator on our return trip on vacation went out. Our 2014 dodge grand caravan only has just over 50,000 miles on it. Alternators should last at least 100,000 miles. Chrysler would not acknowledge our complaint and would not reimburse us for the cost of the faulty alternator. Alternators on 2014 dodge grand caravans should be inspected by the government.

Mil light came on. Had oil changed & checked. Mil did not turn off. Tpms light came on. Checked tires. Tpms light did not turn off. Esc light came on. Vehicle got stuck in park several times. Got vehicle out of park and drove home. Vehicle was parked for a few days. Tried to start. Dead battery. Charged battery and started vehicle. Vehicle would not turn off even with ignition key removed. Vehicle overheated to max temperature on gauge, began to steam and spilled a lot of coolant. Very afraid vehicle would catch fire. Called aaa and tow truck driver located and removed fuse to shut down running vehicle. Had vehicle towed to chrysler dodge dealership. After a week still have not heard from dealership service department or chrysler.the vehicle being stuck with the engine running even with ignition key removed and subsequent rapid overheating and loss of coolant presented an extremely dangerous situation with the strong potential for a vehicle fire.the tpms light malfunction leaves the driver unable to determine if there really is an underinflated tire and/or tires. The esc light malfunction leavesthe driver unable to use this function for improved the vehicle's traction in vatious situations.

Short in electrical system, dvd stopped working (no video) shortly after lights flashed, horn sounded, wipers wouldnt shut off, windows would go down in front, ac not working, radio out, lights on dash illuminated.discovered we could toggle these by opeming and shutting video screen.a week later while driving the engine abruptly stopped working while on the road.was able to restart car.lights on ac continue to flicker

The vehicle was serviced last year for the same issue. The head was replaced twice then they replaced the wiring harness for the main computer. The van still has the issue that comes and goes. It will be fine one day and then one day going up a hill it will get real jerky and bumpy for another few days. It happened last february so we took it to a local dealer who replaced the oil sending unit under warranty. Also they had to replace the alternator and belt which was $700 out of pocket. I feel there is something wrong with this engine because other people are complaining about the same thing. They replaced a head on 1-15-2016 then replaced it again on 1-29-2015. They replaced the wiring harness on 3-4-2016. The alternator and belt was on 2-27-2017.now we have the same issue happening again.

Dealership in semi valley failed to provide service regarding safety recall (p25/nhtsa 14v-234). Rear quarter vent window switch.stopped at the dealership many times and left my information to be called when the parts arrived. I was never called, and on 04/13/15, i again stopped at the dealership with the second recall notice, and asked to have the part ordered. When the service person would not do it, i asked him if he was refusing to ordered the part. Then he began yelling at me, and said he had a list. I advised him that i been on a list for over a month. That just made him madder. I left a business card and left the location. I tried calling the 800 number for dodge, but after 42 minutes on hold i just gave up.

My 2014 grand caravan has been having issues with not starting. I may have to try 4 times before it will start.this was bad enough, but it has also left me sitting in very busy traffic 3 times in the last two weeks. The first time happened as i was exiting off the interstate.the car just went dead with no warning.i was able to restart and keep going.the second and third incidents happened yesterday.the first time it went dead yesterday was as i was pulling out of my driveway.i was completely on the road and was in the process of trying to accelerate.my car began to shake, all lights came on the panel, and the car was dead.the second time this happened yesterday, i was slowing down to stop at a red light on a very busy 4 lane highway.the car went dead with no warning. We took this car to the dealership to have it checked.they said there was nothing they could do because there was no code.i refuse to drive this car, that we've had less than a year, because i fear for my life and even morefor my child's life. This needs to be fixed immediately.

Anytime that i try to turn on the air conditioner or the heat, regardless of the control setting, the driver's side only blows cool and the passenger and rear only blows heat.

The rear sliding door on the driver side started having a buzzing noise when the door auto locks or when the power lock is used.my local dodge dealership said the lock actuator is going bad and will eventually cause the door to pop back open causing a safety hazard.they also said they have changed countless actuators on these vans.i feel there should be a recall on these to correct this issue.

I received a second recall notice letting me know that chrysler had found a repair for recall p25/nhtsa 14v-234 and to call my dealer to schedule a repair.when i called the dealer we usually use (nikles in petersburg, il) the very rude service guy told me that they did not have the parts in, did not know when they expected them, and would not order them.basically, refusing to do the required recall repair.i had to call another dealer and they were very nice and explained that i needed to bring the car in and they would need to quickly check and see if i had a green or blue switch and then they could order the part and complete the repair.i tried to call the number provided by chrysler to report the first dealer refusing to do the repair and had to listen to an outdated recall message (from before they found a repair and were just disabling) and then waited almost an hour on hold before hanging up and trying this website.

This complaint for the rear vent switch is just to express my frustration with the length of time it's taking to get the new switch.how long should it take when vans prior to 2010 had a similar switch that worked perfectly.this has been going on since 3/14, & shortly after i bought this used van i contacted dealers in az in 2/15 & the waiting list was too long. So i waited until we returned to mi, reported it in 4/15, & was just told they are just receiving parts for the march waiting list & so it will at least be another 2-4 months for me.i want this fixed before we return to az in dec.can't chrysler be speeded up???thank you[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)..

Approx. 3 weeks ago my 2014 dodge caravan began to have acceleration issues. When getting on the freeway it lost the ability to accelrate and i drove 15-25 mph on the interstae for about 3 miles before it finally reached 30 mph and then began to function normally. The accelration problem occured several times prompting me to schediule a maintinance appt. Then on 7/23/15 my 2014 doge grand caravan started having issues starting; when i would turn the key it would sputter before catching and cranking. That evening i turned it off and upon returning it would not crank at all. When i would turn the key it just clicked and i could smell what seemed to be burning wires. It was towed to the dodge dealership and i am awaiting a update on the actual diagnostic's.

About a week ago the van would not start. The battery was completely dead after being parked overnight. After charging the battery, i've had no issues starting the van, but the headlamps and air condition fan dim and return to full power every five to ten seconds. Twice, the van has just shut off while driving on city streets at about 35 mph or while stopping at an intersection.

I was in my car i had just pulled into the driveway which is on an incline, my car was in drive my foot was on the brake when your foot comes off of the break and you are in drive my car will roll backwards it is designed that way. On this particular day my car rolled forward i noticed it was rolling forward and i put the car in park as i put the car in park and was stepping on the brake the car made a high pitched noise and then the rpms revved up and up and the car accelerated forward as if i was pushing on the gas and in drive. The car would not let me get it out of park and it kept going forward accelerating into the house and garage over and over. I had to slam the gear shift and hit it over and over from park down into reverse which finally happened and then i was able to go backwards and stop hitting the garage. I turn the car off put the emergency brake on and got out of the car to see the damage. Pictures are belowi have seen other forums and complaints that this vehicle year and make have done this on numerous occasions. If my little girls were in the car and this happened at a intersection, we would have been thrown into ongoing traffic seriously injured if not killed!! this is a known vehicle failure which has not been taken care of with proper recall precautions. This is a dangerous and life-threatening problem. My life matters and so do my childrens. Failure to act is murder.

I was driving down a freeway bridge changing lanes with little traffic to inside walled lane around a slight turn, when the van felt like it lost traction in the front right ;and slightly sped up.i drove along the edge of the wall, safely trying to reduce speed and pull off the freeway. Luckily i managed to only glance and scrape the wall caused mild body damage ;deep scraps and dents.when i pulled off the freeway,i had a trashed front right tire, half a rim and extensive steering component damage.i think it is possible the tire was low, with no indication of it,but what scared me was the acceleration increase of up to 10+ mph.the road there just in that area was dark and i thought i might have had run over something that caused rt frontwheel to lose ground contact,;i.e a truck retread or a rolled up carpet, but the police found nothing in the roadway, the temp was in the high 30's,no ice......waterand i had $6500 in damage.i have basic steel rims, plastic caps.

On 12-23-2019 at approximately 11:49 pm; my engine shutdown while driving at 30-mph down a city street.incident nearly caused a crash..

Cpsc: i1520423a. 2014 grand caravan. Consumer stated the van was a hazard to drive in the icy and snow covered road.*lnthe consumer stated the stability and traction control worked together in a manner, that left him stranded on the road.

We have had this vehicle for 2 years. It had a ticking sound from the day we bought it. The dealer said it was our cams and rockers which they repaired. Shortly after we started getting a p0304 code...told not to worry about it. Code went away then we get the code agin so we replace all 6 spark plugs with mopar plugs and mopar coils..had to replace the starter as well. Code came back and has a rough idle...engine runs great but idle is bad. Low compression on 4th cylinder and now looking at a cracked head. Dodge has a problem with these pentastar engines...a lot more than 7500. A recall needs to happen with these engines. I havea 2003 pontiac montana that runs great and i have not anywhere near the problems. Dodge needs to repair my van!!!!

Related to service bulletin sb-10058301-5939, dodge has a known engine defect that results in failure of the engine oil cooler that can cause sudden and major oil loss and potential catastrophic engine failure.this failed on my vehicle suddenly causing a major loss of oil, large oil spill.it appears that this is a very common failure, i don't understand why thius isnt being recalled.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the vehicle would not restart and had to be towed back to the residence. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent however, the mechanic stated that there was nothing that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

Fuel line failure while merging onto major highway. This resulted in loss of acceleration and power steering on the highway. Vehicle coasted / rolled to the next available highway exit. Upon inspection of the engine compartment, i observed boiling liquid; vehicle was non-functional and had to be towed to dealer. Odb scanner reported it as a #2 cylinder failure. Prior to highway failure, van had problems with the check engine light resulting from a #2 cylinder misfire. Took the van to dealer and they did not find the correct problem, so paid twice for service. The first payment to fix resulted from the charge for inspection from the check engine light. Second charge resulted after needing to have the vehicle towed to the dealership, and after the dealer fixed the fuel line issue.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 16,000.

2014 dodge grand caravan leaking oil from oil filter housing. Oil is accumulating on the transmission area. When the oil hits something hot, it smokes. Might start a fire.

I was driving down the road and without warning, multiple warning lights appeared on the dash/warning alarms sounded. I immediately lost brakes and power steering. The vehicle did nothing when pushing on gas or brake. I was able to pull off the road andslow the vehicle to a stop. I turned it off and then was unable to start the van. It would not turn over, not even to roll up the windows. The van sat approximately 45 minutes while waiting foratow. After that time, i was able to restart the van. The malfunction indicator light remained on after starting the van. I was able to safely drive the vehicle 5 miles to the closest dealership without the problem happening again.

The engine of 3.6 l of my car has a very sharp sound, according to specialists consulted it is a problem with the heads that is a manufacturing defect of these 3.6 l engines.

Got the car in november 2014. After 1 month engine light came on. Happened 5 times since .

At 4 years old and about 60000 miles, my caravan started to severely leak oil. It would go through a quart a week. From my internet research it seems like the oil filter housing is the main culprit. I hope they recall the defective parts.

Check engine light came on indicating the need for a new cylinder coil and or new spark plug. After replacing, check engine light remained on and the problem did not go away. ( irregular idle, engine noise not in tune, bumping noise, like it wants to kill, or go off) the noise is only apparent when at stop. Mileage may be affected also.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle started to hesitate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the ignition coil number 6 was replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 127,000.*dtconsumer stated he spoke to 3 different dealers and all stated it was a common issue the entire rear cylinder head had to be replaced. For dodge vans and this model should also be included.

My van has a 3.6l pentastar v6 engine. Check engine light came on as i was driving. Car started to shake and lose power at stop light. An obd test indicated that cylinder #2 was misfiring. My mechanic determined that there is low compression on cylinder #2. This is a recurring and commonly known problem with the pentastar engine attributable to a cracked cylinder head on the left side. Chrysler has promised to replace for affected engines at no cost to owners as long as the vehicle is within 10 years or 150,000 miles. I had a similar issue two years ago which was fixed at no cost to me when the vehicle was at 78,000 miles plus.. I am filing this complaint because this time chrysler has refused to pick up the cost of $1,800 plus estimated by the chrysler dealership to replace the cylinder head on my vehicle. I have contacted the chrysler number set up to resolve this issue several times but the official response is that my vehicle has a high mileage of 130,084 and therefore not within the 5 years 100,000 miles warranty window. But instead of issuing a mass recall to address this problem chrysler has issued a public bulletin stating that the company will pay for the replacement of cylinder heads as this problem occurs on the pentatstar engine up to 10 years 150,000.(not 5 years 100,000 miles) i have pointed out this fact and referenced the chrysler but to no avail. In short chrysler has refused to honor its publicly stated commitment in this case. I am writing to request for arbitration or else show me what recourse to take in this david versus goliath case. I feel very much wronged and would very much like to escalate.

We were driving 55mph on route 100 in maryland when the driver's knee bumped the key and the ignition moved into the off position. The engine turned off. The car lost power steering and brakes. We tried to restart the car while it was still in motion but it did not restore the power brakes or power steering. We pulled over and put it in park and turned off the ignition. We restarted the vehicle successfully. We then reproduced the event by bumping the driver's knee into the key again while parked, with the same results. This was a rental van from enterprise rental car in columbia, md.

I bought brand new a 2014 dodge grand caravan as a family car. I'm still paying on this vehicle and with 51,000 miles the canister filter housing is spewing oil. And guess what not under warranty. Chrysler won't stand behind it. Apparently this is not unheard of. If you have a 3.6 liter in any vehicle with this engine this will happen to you. Shame on chrysler for there greed to not build a decent car and not stand behind it. So be up front with customers and tell the they will have to shell out several hundreds of dollars to fix or recall the part that is a potential fire hazard.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. Additionally, the vehicle failed to start and the contact had to manipulate the ignition switch for the vehicle to restart. The contact called zeigler chrysler dodge jeep ram of plainwell (1186 m-89, plainwell, mi 49080, (269) 685-5800) and was informed that the failure may be caused by the win module. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 68,000.*as

The contact stated while driving the oil level decreased unexpectedly. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for repairs. The manufacturer was notified of this failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000

A fluid leak was found on the garage floor under our van.upon further inspection it turned out to be engine oil.we took the van to the dealer to have it looked at as it is still under manufacture's warranty.the dealer mentioned that the oil "cooler" or adapter was probably cracked from the last oil change.this part is what holds the oil filter.it is a plastic part that is subject to torque when the cap is removed and replaced after changing the oil filter.this part is engineered to fail after so many oil changes.once it fails, oil is forced under pressure on top of the engine, causing a potential fire risk.the dealer will not cover this under manufacture's warranty since they did not perform the oil change.this is a serious issue and a recall of this part with replacement using a metal replacement should be seriously considered before someone gets hurt, not after.

Oil filter housing has a major oil leak. Part # 68105583ae is on national back order because so many of these have failed. I have called dealerships across the country and no one will sell one due to the amount of failures and the only way to get the part replaced is to have the dealership's service department replace one.

Oil filter housing is faulty, started leaking oil outta no where and many others i've researched online are having the same problem. Was told by dealer it was cause of over tightening oil filter started leaking right before i was about to do an oil change so i doubt it was over tightened.

My engine light came on my 2014 grand dodge caravan. The code came back as p0302- misfire in cylinder two. I changed all my spark plugs. It did not correct the problem. The mechanic said the misfire is still happening. My mechanic determined that there is low compression on cylinder #2. This is a recurring and commonly known problem with the pentastar engine! this van only has 80,000 miles! he said he needs to open the engine and replace the lifters and intake values. He said this is rare and definitely is a manufacture issue! recall and have this fixed already!

My wife was driving our 2014 dodge grand caravan home from the store in may 2019 when the engine stalled and shut off in an intersection. Thankfully someone stopped to help push the van out of the intersection. We were able to get the van towed to our local dealer/service. Diagnostics indicated an engine misfire and service technician found low compression in cylinder #3. Further troubleshooting determined the problem was a valve failure and the dealer repairs cost us over $2,700.unfortunately, our 5yr/50,000mi limited powertrain warranty expired in april...eight days before the engine failure!we previously enjoyed owning a chrysler town & country and have been happy with the performance and utility of the grand caravan, but the engine failure seems to be the same issue as other owners have experienced on previous model years.apparently the powertrain warranty was extended for 2011-2013 model years, but not 2014. This is an issue that needs to be resolved by fca us before it becomes a safety issue.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact noticed oil on the floor of the garage. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that the oil filter cooler housing fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

Engine has cut off nine times leaving no power brakes or steering.vehicle has accelerated four times.dealership cannot find a problem.engine idles very rough.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while driving up a hill at 5 mph, the electronic stability control warning light illuminated. In addition, the engine stalled and the vehicle rolled backwards. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.updated 9/21/2017

While driving the check engine light came on when i came to a red light i noticed the engine idle was rough. I checked the code when i got home p0305 misfire in cylinder no. 5i had the spark plug and coil pack replaced cleared the code engine still idled rough and check engine light came back on. I had a mechanic look at it and found defective valve guide in cylinder no.5 he stated this is a common problem with this engine.lesson learned don't buy dodge.

While slowing down to enter a parking lot, the car engine stopped.the power steering went as did the brakes.i put it into neutral and started the car.since then it has randomly stopped at low speed dozens of times, slowing for a red light or entering a park lot.the car has been to the shop 6 times.3 different electronic modules have been replaced.it still stalls out.

We have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. We have replaced cams and rockers, coil packs and spark plugs, starter, battery, pcm and still get ap304 code. We have taken it back where we bought our vehicle and they cannot figure it out! we have taken it to 2 different mechanics....one says we need an engine and one says the pistons and head. What is wrong with chrysler? they know they have more than 7500 pentastar engines that are faulty....stand behind your product & reputation!!!!engine runs fine running but shudders at idle.....fix this issue!

Our 2014 dodge grand caravan has the same exact issues as 2011-2013 models with the misfire on cylinder 2 or multiple cylinders, as well as the engine ticking. We have tried to pursue this problem with chrysler via our local dodge dealership. They say it is a mere coincidence. We feel that it is a continuation of the same problem into the new model year, and that their supposed fix for this problem is not what they thought it would be. The engine light came on within hours of purchasing it from a reputable used car dealership. Returned to dealer, they read the code, said it was probably just a fluke, and reset it. A couple hours later it came back on. Brought it back to the dealership. They tried the "easy" fixes (spark plugs, wires, coil) and the engine continued to throw the same code. They brought it to a regular dodge dealership, where they cleaned the injectors, said the problem was solved and sent us on our way. Within hours it threw the same code. Called the dealership, but they did not respond. We lived 8 hours away, and were halfway home at that point. So we tried to pursue it with our local dealership, and they are saying it is just a coincidence. We have done extensive research, both before and after purchasing the vehicle, and intentionally avoided the 11-13 models because of this exact problem. Now we realize we should have bought one of those model years because dodge will correct their problem. However, not enough complaints have been made about the 14s to get them to own up to the continued problem and offer a repair. All we got from the local dealership was a quote for $2500 to fix this problem. Our research has turned up several other 2014 vehicles with the same pentastar engine (not necessarily grand caravans) that are having the same issue. Dodge extended the warranty for 11-13 to 150,000 due to this exact same problem. They should include 2014.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. While driving approximately 40 mph, a ticking noise emerged from the engine compartment and the vehicle stalled. Also, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled at least four times within the last three months. The vehicle was taken to garber chrysler/dodge/jeep (5330 bay road, saginaw, mi 48664) where it was diagnosed that the roller rocker on the camshaft was damaged and needed replacement. The contact was also advised that this was a common occurrence with that type of engine. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

Engine smoking and over heat. Defect heater hoses y fitting splits . Its all over u tube as a common problem. Poor and no warranty $450 repair

On 9/19/18, was driving on hwy 394 in minneapolis when first had problem.engine die on me in the middle if highway.it was doing rush hours and was going low speed, probaby around 10-20 mph. I was able to restart van and drove the rest of that day with no proble.today had same problem, 9/20/19, it happens 3x.one was when i was pulling into a parking lot, same thing happen on the 2x.the 3x is when i was going 20-30 mph and was following sveral curve of the street when it happen.i could not turn or stop cause engine stop working.almost went up the curve.again, i was able to start the van fine and go on my way.i call dealer in brooklyn center, mn for a diagnosisfor 9/24.lookup problem on internet and found people with same problem everywhere.

I was driving this brand new rental van on a 4-lane state highway. I'd been on the road less than an hour when i engaged the cruise control. The van was in cruise mode for at most a couple of minutes when i sensed the van slowing. I looked down to see the tachometer at zero; i realized its engine had turned off. Very fortunately for me, there were no other vehicles close by me. I was able to cruise to the shoulder and come to a stop. I'm not 100% sure, but i believe all of the vehicle's power was off (for example, i don't think i had power steering anymore). I put the vehicle in park, restarted the ignition, and decided to continue on my trip. I ended up putting just over 1,000 miles on it over the next 7 days, and the incident didn't happen again. During that time, i waited probably for another 400 miles before i risked trying the cruise control again (again, when no vehicles were nearby); no problems again.yet, this definitely could have been an accident-inducing defect had i been in traffic in which the uncontrolled decrease in speed could have been dangerous.this is of course a chrysler product, not a gm,my experience was strikingly similar to some of the stories i've heard / read about people driving cobalts. I did report this incident to the (alamo) rental car guy when i returned the vehicle. But again, after reading about the cobalt ignition problems over the last couple of weeks, i felt compelled to report this to nhtsa.

While driving the van just cut off in the middle of the road. It managed to roll to the shoulder and started.the van was driven a little further and the same thing happened again.the next day the same thing happened.it was taken to a dealership and they said it was the wrong size tires on the rear caused the abs to come on and stopped the vehicle.they replaced the tires and returned the van.two days later it did the same thing.took the van back and they kept it for over a month.they replaced the transmission & returned it.the same problem occurred again and was taken back.the dealership could recreate the problem but didn't know what was wrong with it.another month or more goes by and they decided that the pump that they replaced was defective.they replaced the pump and returned the van.a couple of weeks go by and the van is cutting off again.it is currently at the dealership again.each time that this happened the vehicle was being driven on a roadway in traffic.this really could cause an accident.i believe this vehicle is just a lemon and cannot be repaired to the point that anyone feels safe driving it.

The engine suddenly shuts off.the dealer replaced a computer chip, but the engine still shuts off. It first happened in may 2020.it shuts off about every 2-3 weeks. It happens when first started, when accerating, when slowing down, and/or when stopping.it's especially dangerous when traveling at highway speeds

Engine oil capacity is listed as 6 quarts (us) in multiple sources, however after draining and refilling engine on a level surface with 6 quarts, the dipstick reading showed at min level.after adding an additional 1/2 quart, the level reached the full mark.most vehicle dipsticks are designed such that the amount of oil required to raise the level from min to max is 1 quart.there is no indication on the dipstick to indicate either way.this might also explain why my dealer overfilled the crankcase when i had them perform a previous oil change.underfilling as well as overfilling the oil can result in premature engine wear and failure, as per manufacturers own literature and as such may constitute a potential safety hazard.a tsb should be issued to specify the correct capacity (6.5qts? unless dipstick markings are wrong) and also to explain the dipstick markings, assuming the current design is correct.

Check engine light came on while driving, car feels like it is going to stall when slowing down/stopped, car shudders, gas mileage is down, has a p0305 code for misfire in cylinder 5, replaced spark plugs, still misfiring, compression test is fine, has a loud ticking/tapping noise when stopped/idling.

2014 dodge caravan w/ about 80,000 miles had a p-0302 cylinder misfire-code.this was caused by a bearing failure on rocker rocker arm on left side, approximately 3 months after the 6 year power train warranty ran out.cylinder misfires were intermittent and caused rough idling.the van is not driven roughly and this is very early in the engine's life for something like that to happen.it seems to be a fairly common issue with this model car / engine, indicating something wrong with the design...

Problems with the rocker arms multiple times. Engine light is on but only picks up on a thermostat problem not the not the rocker arm problem. The van loses power going up hill and of course the warranty ran out 2 weeks before i called dealership.

Intermittently the vehicle will shut off engine during stop and with have to turn key over again. We've had this van for 3 weeks and it has happened twice. Both times have been when decelerating to a stop. The first time it happened while in reverse and the second time it happened when in drive moving forward to a stop.

I recently had my oil changed at the local dodge dealer and within a few weeks noticed a puddle under my car while parked in my driveway.it turned out to be engine oil, and after a quick search for 2014 grand caravan oil leaks it appears to be a problem known by chrysler corp, and is most likely a faulty oil filter housing assembly.the oil has pretty much spread all over the top of the intake manifold, the transmission housing, and all parts underneath.the car also had a burnt oil smell when i took it on a test drive.i am concerned that the leaking oil could catch fire on the exhaust and won't be driving the car any more until i can get it fixed.it certainly seems like a safety issue chrysler should take care of, but the car is just over the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.i don't currently have any engine or oil lights on, and it doesn't appear to be an active leak when the car is not running.this appears to be widespread and should be a recall item in my opinion.

On 12-23-2019 at approximately 11:49 pm; my engine shutdown while driving at 30-mph down a city street.incident nearly caused a crash..

As i was at a stop my car stalled. Then started bogging real bad as if it was running on 4 cylinders. Had it towed to the dealer and the check engine light was flashing. They put it on the machine and said it was fine. 2 weeks later the same thing has happened and they are telling me they can not diagnose the problem.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that there was a premature leak of oil under the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who contacted the dealer (dewey dodge chrysler jeep, 3175 se delaware ave, ankeny, ia 50021, (515) 289-8700) to order the part. The dealer stated that the oil housing unit was on backorder with 720 other vehicle owners waiting for the part. The manufacturer was notified of the issues. Van stalled a few times, out of the blue, while driving at a low speed due to construction. Never had previous problem. Stalled in road while trying to make a left turn into gas station. Got van running and attempted to turn, motor died down to barely a crawl and was about to stall as a semi truck approached us. Gas pedal to the floor, tires squealing barely got out of the trucks way. Engine stalled again, coasted into station but blocking drive. Could not start again, had to push out of the way. It turned out to be the #2 cylinder which is the same issues the 2011-2013's grand caravans had a safety bulletin 09-002-14 put out for in 2014. I have attached a copy of my repair bill.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that after stopping at a stop sign, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted and functioned normally. The problem recurred on seven occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,972.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. While operating the vehicle, the engine misfired while approaching a stop light. The failure increased once the engine temperature increased. The vehicle was taken to dave sinclair chrysler dodge jeep ram in pacific, mo, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 32,000.

I was sold this car without a spare tire or jack, and was not informed at the time of sale that these are not included. There was only an air pump. I had a flat tire and was stranded while pregnant. This is completely unsafe.

I pulled out of a well lighted gas station at night and my instrument panel lights come on automatically soi assumed my headlights were also on.as i proceeded to rt 50 and made the right turn, it was pitch black except for the dash lights which were fully lit .the problem was i couldn't find the switch to turn on the headlights because with the headlights off, the switch wasn't illuminated. I was now in a serious panic. I was moving slow but couldn't see the road or where i was in the road! i finally came to a complete stop.i was afraid someone was going to hit me from behind. My wife and i could have been killed!i finally found the switch after about a minute. This has also been a problem while driving at dusk and the dash lights come on automatically and as it gets darker you don't realize your headlights aren't on.one time a friendwas following us and called us on the cell phone to let us know ourlights weren't on!note: we drove a 2000 caravan for 14 years and knew to turn on the headlights when we couldn't see the instrument panel. Same with all my veichles before that. We've been conditioned , that's how it works.

Gas pedal stuck on acceleration until van hit 108mph and shut of and turned back on and was fine again rear hatch light dose not stay in place

February 2020: van turned itself off while city driving about 25mph and restarted after coasting to curb. March 2020 van failed to start at home, starter motor working but engine wouldn't start.mechanic replaced fuel pump and fuel pump relay after many days and great difficulty obtaining parts.june 2020 van engine wouldn't start, as before, and was towed to mechanic.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle did not restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was corrosion of unspecified wiring that burned out the fuel pump. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.

Problems with the rocker arms multiple times. Engine light is on but only picks up on a thermostat problem not the not the rocker arm problem. The van loses power going up hill and of course the warranty ran out 2 weeks before i called dealership.

Pump in transmission has gone out. Vehicle was in motion on a city street

Very rough shifting and long delay to get into the passing gear.delay when using horn. You press on it and 1-2 seconds later you hear it.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. While driving 10-30 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 142,000.

Van has 29000 miles. Transmission pan and trans cooler lines are leaking.

The transmission broke at less then 100 thousand miles. Has 2 codes and 5 pending.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan.the contact stated while driving approximately 5 mph when the brakes wereapplied the entire instrument panel illuminated continuously. The contact also stated that when the vehicle was in park it would not shift into drive.the vehicle was towed to the dealer, however, the contact could not recall what the repair was.the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for a clucking noise on the front driver side.the failure was not diagnosed.the manufacturer was notified of the defect.the approximate failure mileage was 639.

Intermittently the vehicle will shut off engine during stop and with have to turn key over again. We've had this van for 3 weeks and it has happened twice. Both times have been when decelerating to a stop. The first time it happened while in reverse and the second time it happened when in drive moving forward to a stop.

While driving 45 mph, the battery indicator illuminated. A few moments later, all the instrument panel indicators began to flash. The contact pulled the vehicle over and had it towed home. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that there were no recalls associated with the vin. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 143,000. The vin was unavailable.

My daughter was in the back seat when the seatbelt started to retract itself at the point that she was immobilized and start choking her. We call the police and the fire department so they can release her. They cut the seatbelt.

My signature got forged

After going sideways into a very steep ditch, both driver and passenger front side airbag charges went off, but neither airbag deployed. The seat belt locked so tight that i couldn't reach the door handle or window switch, or unbuckle the seat belt to exit the vehicle.

Seat belt does not click in and does not stay. It pops out at times. With seatbelt clicked in the van sometimes think that the drive is not buckled in so the worsening light flashes and makes sounds

Seatbelt and buckle assembly caused the airbag light to come on indicating that airbags will not deploy in an accident.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. When the contact strapped the child safety seat in the second and third rows of the vehicle, the seat belt would become loose and fail to restrain the safety seat. The failure recurred on several occasions. The failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5.

The second row of seating springs forward as if spring loaded in this case striking me in the face as i leaned back to assist a back row passenger. Normally the seat is released and pushed forward. This mechanism is released under such force that there is no time to protect yourself from the full force of the seat. No warning appears on the release mechanism. It is poorly designed and dangerous. My nose is still sore from the blow.

As i was sitting in a parking lot today o heard this loud boom that sounded as if i had been rear ended and felt what seemed to be a blow to my head. I looked around and there were no cars around and got out of the vehicle to see what happened and it was the headrest that burst open. It ended up hurting my head and neck and could have potentially caused an accident had this happened while i was driving. There were no other signs of something happening and no warning lights. Dealer was not notified.

While sitting on the driver seat, facing out the door talking to my husband with the van off, parked in our driveway, the headrest randomly deployed, hitting me in the side of the face.*dtconsumer stated she has musculoskeletal issues whiplash and spine is out of alignment. Manufacturer was contacted but vehicle was not repaired.

Front driver's seat headrest deployed while vehicle was turned off and unoccupied. Attempt to replace headrest resulted in vehicle not starting.

The rear back seat folded in on our 11 year old son when i came to a quick stop (traveling <20mph).he was ok, and we will not be using that seat as we discovered that it will not actually lock into an upright position. If this had occurred in an accident at greater speeds i'm certain that this defect would have resulted in significant injury and/or death.

As my vehicle was parked; we came out to my passenger headrest being deployed by itself. No accident/incident happened. Self deployed. Just glad no one was in it at the time. As this just happened, i havenā€™t had time to report it to the dealership due to it being sunday. No warnings or lights came on when this happened. It just self deployed. After more research it looks like this has been happening for years. Why isnā€™t this recalled?

The headrest safety feature deployed for no reason.we were not in a wreck and it deployed.

Cpsc: i1470304a. 2014 dodge grand caravan. Consumer stated while trying to fold down the rear seat it came slamming down on his hand. *lnthe consumer stated he followed the numbered straps as instructed and the last strap made the seat slam down on his hand, which was placed on the top of the rear bumper as stability and leverage for reaching in to pull the straps. The skin on his hand was torn. It took several doctor visits and x-rays to determine the bone was not broken, but there was a deep contusion.

As i was driving my 2014 dodge caravan at night on a rural highway onfebruary 4 2020 , i heard a loud bang ,the passenger side head rest activated without any reason, the bang shocked me,it was so loud, causing me to almost run into oncoming traffic

The headrest on the driver's seat deployed while the vehicle was parked in a parking lot.i am glad that this did not happen while i was driving down the road.i have not had the opportunity to contact the dealer about this concern yet.there was not any warning of the deployment of the headrest.

While parked overnight in on street parking in phoenix az, the passenger side front seat headrest deployed without any reason. My van was not struck or hit with or by anything. The dodge dealership refuses to replace or repair it at no charge. I would like to have the headrest repaired if possible or replaced if repair is not probable.thank you

I have a 2014 dodge grand caravan and the air bag stays on i was driving in the freeway when i noticed the airbag light stays on

Passenger side headrest exploded forward while we were driving down the highway.there was no accident.passenger was hit in the back of the head.this "safety" device deployed in error.

While wife was at work, driver side headrest deployed at some point.(she parked at 6am and came out at 330pm).van was parked and upon inspection no damage done to vehicle to warrant deployment, airbags not deployed and only the drivers side headrest deployed.headrest not covered under warranty, had to move it to passenger seat in order to be able to drive the vehicle. After inspecting headrest, found that left plastic clip holding in bar assembly snapped and broke off, causing the right one to warp and break (just a gap).headrest cannot be reset due to the damage and a new one has to be purchased.

Drivers side headrest popped open without having any collision.vehicle was parked and turned off.

Tire pressure warning light stuck on constantlynow both front seat head rests have popped open loudly one while driving and the other whole car turned off and parked. Cannot comfortable sit in seat any longer and if it had popped while i was in the seat i'd have had neck problems

I was driving down the road between 45-50 mph when something hit me really hard in the back of my head.i pulled over and saw that my headrest had popped apart.when i looked this up i saw that it is a known problem and part of the headrest restraint system.i was not in an accident, rear ended or hit in any way and the road was a smooth road.

Active headrest deployed without a crash. Plastic retaining slots broken. Car was not moving. This is the second one to break like this and i'm not happy about having to pay another $900 for what is obviously a design flaw

The front passenger head rest came apart while the car was parked at my children's grandparent's house with no one around or in it and it will not go back together.

The driver's active headrest deployed without impact while we were driving on a state highway.it struck my wife in the back of the head. She initially thought that we had been rear-ended.this could have easily caused the loss of control or a collision if we had been in traffic at the time.she has been suffering with headaches since the incident. Our van has never been in an accident and has 77k miles. We have an appointment to take the vehicle to a dealer, but it has not been repaired at this time.

Today while driving, my passenger side headrest deployed (exploded) without warning or cause, nearly injuring my passenger, and nearly causing me to lose control of my vehicle. The sound and force of the deployment was so loud and significant that it shook the vehicle and startled me to a point of panic. When i pulled over i found the passenger headrest had spontaneously deployed.i was driving on a city street, approximately 45 miles an hour, no braking, no accelerating, no road hazards or bumps in the road. Passenger was seated in the seat, seatbelt restraint on, not shifting or moving. Headrest has not had any damage prior to this incident.vehicle was purchased in november of 2014.

While parkedheadrest on passanger side front seat deployed no impact to van.only seat that deployed .

The right side seat in the middle row has flipped to fold itself while i was driving.this has happened twice.no one was in the seat either time.i am not certain if the car was in motion.it appears the lever that releases the seat for the stow and go feature either disengaged or did not fully engage the last time the seat was positioned.i wondered if the seat was not fully locking into the upright position everytime.so i have tried to lift the lever up just enough to disengage the seat while keeping the seat in the upright, but not locked, position.i have not been able to do so.

My vehicle was parked at my job. When i returned to my vehicle to leave work i noticed that the front passenger headrest was deployed. I checked for any damage to the vehicle and there was none at all. I drove the vehicle home and my husband tried to reset the headrest but it appears as the plastic clips that hold the "rod" in place have broken so the headrest will not reset. I do not feel safe having a passenger in the seat nor do i really feel safe driving incase the driver's side was to deploy while i am driving.

While driving on the interstate the passenger side headrest deployed.my son was sitting in the seat at the time and luckily was leaning forward at the very moment it exploded or this could have been a very different description.

At the of my trip, as i park the vehicle, the passenger head rest exploded.

On 8/15/ 2020 my passenger side headrest went off when the car was parked and not running in my drive way.now the pad part is sitting forward and the middle is all opened up very uncomfortable to sit . I called the dodge chrysler and they took my complaint with and gave me a case number 76999287 in 48 hrs i heard back and they were going to send a inspector out to me to do a report so this happened on 9/3/2020 i met him at are local dodge dealer and he did a full inspection. So at this time he said he will email me a copy of the report i do not have that at this because it is only been a couple of days.

The drive side head rest deployed while i was stationary.upon further inspection, s plastic bracket inside headrest failed, releasinga metal pin from the closed latch. Had i been driving, this could have resulted in temporary loss of control of the vehicle.i was not and have not been in an accident in this vehicle.

On 10/26/2020 i got in my car this morning and noticed my head restraint on my driver side just deployed overnight. Which at the time i didn't know it was deployed i thought i could fix it when i got to where i was going but after further research that is when i found out it deployed and it wasn't a simple fix. Since it is a 2014 dodge grand cararavan 30th anniversary edition it is not under warranty. After looking up online i see this is a common occurrence and wonder why there is no safety recall. It goes back years. They put a plastic piece holding a metal piece under all that pressure and they think it will not give way and break? i can't imagine if i would have been driving what would have happened. That would have scared me for one and what could have happened.imagine driving along and this thing pops out at the back of your head. Did it make a loud noise? what would you be thinking? what would you have done? from what i have seen online it will cost 900.00 to replace this which wasn't supposed to deploy unless someone hit the rear of my car. Please do something about this as i can't afford 900.00 to fix this. And they need to do something about the plastic they use.

As a result of the impact, the contact's wife did not require medical treatmentother than neck pain and a headache. The contact was given over the counter medicine and informed to return to the hospital if the pain persisted. The dealer (marion chrysler dodge jeep ram 44 worley rd, marion, nc 28752 828-652-2858) was notified of the failure and informed the contact that his vehicle was out of warranty and that he would be responsible for all repairs to the vehicle. The contact notified the manufacturer of the failure and was given a case number. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.*dt *dt*dt

As vehicle was being backed up at a dealership parking lot the front passenger seat headrest deployed striking the passenger in the neck and skull area.

10/19/2019,vehicle stationary:the driver's side rear caliper froze in the full-on position when lightly using the emergency brake.i was just amile from home and drove it to my garage (less that 30 mph).it was dangerously hot and would have caused a fire and major breakdown had i been on my 18-hour freeway commute.i jacked up the rear, removed the tire and saw that the e-brake spring had not returned the caliper to the brake off position.i was able to return it by lightly tapping the e-brake lever to the off position.at that point the brake caliper mostly worked as it should.however, re-applying the e-brake would again refreeze the brake to full on.i replaced with a mopar oem caliper and all is well again.i suspect the e-brake mechanism within the caliper failed.all my mileage is extended freeway commuting between two different state residences.the front brake pads have never been replaced and still measured 5/16' thick.the original rear pads had at least half their life span and i did not replace those either.needless to say, i fear using the e-brake with this vehicle.the caliper on the driver's side rear cannot take the limited e-brake use without failing.

Break booster is bad!i almost couldn't stop yesterday at a stop light.calling around for replacement part and finding that this part is out of stock or on backorder!

My wife was driving our 2014 dodge grand caravan with our three young children in the car.when the brakes went spongy.it severely impacted her ability to brake safely.she was driving on a city road at about 45 mph when this happened.i took the van to golling chyrsler, dodge jeep dealership hoping that they would cover it under warranty.the van is not even 3 years old but it has 50,000 miles on it so there reply was you should've bought and extended warranty.their diagnosis was the power brake booster went bad and needs to be replaced.now the dealership and when i called chrysler and they said the same thing basically i should've bought an extended warranty.all of the independent shops i called around for quotes said it is extremely rare for a brake booster to go bad and all said they've never seen one go bad on such a new vehicle.i did some research and looks like fca issued a recall on 2011-2014 dodge durango and jeep grand cherokees for bad brake boosters.coincidence?i think not from what i can find it is the same part!!!!!!!being from southeast michigan i try to buy american with the big 3 but time and time again i am let down.should've bought a honda.

I bought a dodge grand caravan 2014 in january 2014 new with 7 miles on it.in april 2014, at the top of a hill, my brakes went out, it had approximately 100 miles on it.my brake failure light went on and my brakes did not work.they took the van in and found a part defect caused it - the brake diaphragm was defective.if we had been going any faster we could have been killed.

While driving over 40 mph, suddenly brakes get spastic, they are trying to brake as i am driving on expressway. This problem wore out completely the brakes and calipers at 18000 miles.got new brakes (dodge regulation) and now same thing happened on expressway while driving over 45mph.i need to drive on x-ways.

My brakes begin failing on saturday 8/3/2019. It has been determined that the master cylinder and the booster are bad on the vehicle. This is a major safety concern to me

Drove van from 9am till 11am all doors functioned well.parked at home.locked car. At 1pm went to store in van shopped and found that driver side passenger door would not open from inside or outside after unlocked.

Whenever the passenger sliding door unlocks, the actuator makes a loud buzzing sounds that is heard both inside and outside the vehicle.

Rear passenger sliding door lock stuck in engaged position. Door will not open at all. Lock will not disengage. Vehicle off/stationary, upon return from drive. Child in car seat restraint inaccessible.

My 2014 dodge grand caravan left side sliding door has suddenly become stuck. The vehicle was just sitting in my driveway when i came out one morning and it would not open. I cant unlock it manually or with the fob. When i googled the problem i see there is a slew of people all over the country with the same problem, with many different years of grand caravan's. Dodge has not done a recall because, i understand from others, that dodge is charging $1100 per vehicle to fix the problem. Can you press them to do a recall? this is a safety issue since in an emergency to the right side of the vehicle, passengers will not be able to exit through the left side door.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the tailgate spoiler detached from the vehicle. As a result, the spoiler struck another vehicle. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,800.

When driving on the freeway (40 mph or more) the driver and passenger side door trim flies off. This has happened to 9 out of the 11 dodge grand caravan's that we own and has hit other vehicles causing them to swerve. If this happened once or even twice i wouldn't think much of it - but 3 of the dodge grand caravans we actually replaced this piece more than once and it continues to happen.i would say that we have had at least 13 of these fly off in the past 2 years from our 2014 - 2018 dodge grand caravan models. This is potentially very dangerous to other drivers and especially motorcyclists as it is a projectile!

When the temperature is warm the driver side passenger door malfunctions. I don't have the exact date written down but least now two summers in a row we have had this problem and it happens every time we use the door in the heat.we going over a bump in the road this will make the door ajar lights come on and the door will act like it is opened some. The rear of the door begins to make a continuous pounding noise. Also just closing the door in the heat the exact same thing will happen doesn't matter if you use the automatic door or not. The rear of the door continues making a noise, a pounding noise that is very loud. With two children in the back seat this concerns me very much. I do not want to be driving and the door open. I don't know if the latch is failing or what is happening. Many with the same model in various years have the same issue with no luck finding the reason. This is a major hazard. I would submit a video but do not see an option for video

Drivers side sliding door completely shut. Won't open remotely nor manually.i've read too many complaints on this matter . Manufacture should take responsibility and do a recall for free repair.

Passenger side sliding door is stuck closed. Will not open at all.

At about 47,000 miles, i began to hear a growling, grinding, shaking sound while stopping on highway during high speed.i began to notice it at regular stopping speed.i thought it was brake pads.however, going to three shops.it was determined brakes were not the problem.i t was the left front wheel bearing.at such low mileage and regular wear, i believe it to be a manufacturer's defect.please advise.

I was sold this car without a spare tire or jack, and was not informed at the time of sale that these are not included. There was only an air pump. I had a flat tire and was stranded while pregnant. This is completely unsafe.

Cpsc: i1520423a. 2014 grand caravan. Consumer stated the van was a hazard to drive in the icy and snow covered road.*lnthe consumer stated the stability and traction control worked together in a manner, that left him stranded on the road.

Anytime that i try to turn on the air conditioner or the heat, regardless of the control setting, the driver's side only blows cool and the passenger and rear only blows heat.

The rear passenger sliding door makes a loud buzzing sound and sometimes refuses to close. I have seen many complaints for the caravans and chrysler town and country minivans with the same issue. The buzzing sound sounds like an air compressor running. The doors look as though it latches but comes back unmatched. I'm reading that this would be the lock actuator. I always double check that the door is closed but i'm afraid i will be in a hurry and the door will come open while my children are riding in the back.

We purchased a 2014 dodge grand caravan in february 2015 with 18k miles on it.our dual ac/heat controls worked fine until april 2016.at that time, the passenger side controls only provided heat no matter how many times you flip the temperature control back and forth.when you run the ac, the drivers side works fine but must shut the vents off on the passenger side because of the hot air.i have researched this problem on multiple dodge forums and other sites and and it appears that dodge has been having this issue since the 2011 models came out.this is an obvious defect and needs to be addressed so the problem can be fixed.since this has just occurred in the last couple of months i have not been to get to a dealer to find out what it would cost but the estimates i have seen or outrageous.many people have indicated it is the actuator door, update to firmware and even replacement of an hvac unit (?).this is not a one-time issue with one vehicle. This problem is growing and needs to be addressed.

I went on a trip with 5 people. My grand caravan has 4 bucketstyleseats, 2 in front 2 in the middle. In the rear of my vehicle which has the stow and go seating option there are two seats. One is for 1 person the other for 2 people. I opened the seat for two, even though there was only one sitting in the rear. I closed the rear door after my friend was seated. When we got to our destination the 4 front people in front got out. We then discovered the person in the rear had no way to open the rear door from the inside. Sure i the driver had a button on the front console and another one on my key fob, to release the rear lift door, but the person in the rear was trapped as she had no way to open the door from the inside. That is both a inconvenience issue and a safety issue. But there should be a button with a child lock to prevent kids sitting in the rear from opening the door themselves or to allow an adult to open the lift door themselves

Transmission goes into limp mode. Cviā€™s are out of spec for gears and fluid. Fluid is burnt. Transmission filter is broke off in transmission. Needs transmission replacement. Transmission stalls and either changes gears on its own or wonā€™t change at all. Breaks down at stops. .

My car will only blow cold air out the driver vents and hot on the passenger and rear.it doesn't matter if its sitting or moving its the same problem

Takata recall. 2014 caravan engine knocking noise do to bad rocker arms and camshaft. This problem is related on all 2014 caravans and jeeps with a 3.6 ltr only do to weakness on rocker arm bearing. And should be fixed at dodge expense as it's not a cheap fix an i'm not impressed by dodge with the issue

Driver side window fell into the door and shattered when raising the window.

The a/c and heat works only out of the driver's side. The heat only works out of the passenger sides. This is a widely common problem.

Driver side does not get hot with heater. Passenger side does.

Driver side window fell down inside door and shattered.

Head rests spontaneously exploded while parked.

While parked, my drivers side headrest deployed. Upon inspection, the plastic that holds the bar had broken.

Bad lift gate sensor. Hard to believe this will be the second sensor that will need to be replaced on this vehicle. 1st was still under warranty

On september 17, 2016 around 8pm, i put the van in park took my foot off the break and stepped out. As i went to move and shut the door, the van popped out of park into reverse. The door pushed me down onto the ground and dragged me, as my body was free of the door my left arm was run over by the front tire and the van kept going. My mother in law was still in the passenger seat trying to stop the van. She finally stopped it, but it was to late, my arm was already run over resulting in a very serious crush injury that had to have emergency sugery. I now have metal plates in my left arm that will never be removed. I have pain every day and because of this, i had to return the vehicle to the finance company because i cannot work now. My fiance drove the vehicle several times after the incident and he also had the vehicle pop out of park into reverse but he was still in the driver's seat and able to stop it.

On the morning of april 18, 2015 around 2:30 am the engine compartment of the vehicle was observed to be on fire by a neighbor who called 911. The police report states that the mini van was almost fully engulfed by the time they arrived. The vehicle had been sitting in the driveway since 5 pm the day prior and had not been started since that time. At the time of the fire the vehicle had about 10,000 miles on it and the chrysler work around for the 'vent window switch' recall had been done as they did not have the part to remedy the problem. This has been reported to chrysler who after almost 10 months has determined that they do not seem to know what caused the fire but that they are not responsible.

My sons and i were involved in a hit & run injury car accident. We were rear-ended on the freeway in heavy traffic. I was going about 5 mph and driver behind me plowed into us at about 30 mph! instantly me and my younger son both said we hit our heads. Our heads hurt besides being thrust by the impact. My son kept pointing at something asking me to look when i was trying to call 9-1-1 for help and the other driver was trying to talk to me unsafely in the highway! my son told me to look at our headrests. Both front seat headrests had deployed and struck us in the back of our heads on impact! we could not believe it. As my younger son said, we suffered enough with neck, shoulder, back and stomach pains from being thrust in this car accident but to be punched in the back of our heads on top of that?? it really hurt us and we were moving at the time of impact. Fortunately we were checked on scene medically by the paramedics. Even the highway patrol officer had never seen anything like the headrests dislodged, neither had the paramedics. I looked on line and found a litigation against a major car manufacturer and found out this may be an extremely unsafe defect on our 2014 dodge grand caravan. We can't even put back the headrests in place on either front seat headrest. This was very scary for both of us, having our heads hurt so much upon impact. Yet we didn't go forward into the steering wheel or dashboard, rather we got clocked, punched in the back of our heads by the headrest supposedly there to help curtail whiplash. Extreme lies by the car manufacturersand a total safety hazard. They need to be held responsible for causing this much duress and injury to all these customers who trust these major car companies to keep us and our loved ones safe, not intentionally injure them.

Rear passenger right sliding door non-functional. Door cannot be opened or closed.g-d forbid this vehicle is involved in an accident, my grandchildren will not be able to exit the vehicle quickly. I consider this a safety issue. Chrysler does not.

Accelerator sticks when full throttle is applied.i traded a 2010 chrysler lx van i had for 5 years in on this vehicle and it had the same problem.the chrysler accelerator was replaced twice, once at my expense and once on a recall and the problem was not corrected.today was the first time i experienced this problem with the dodge van i bought in january 2016.from previous experience i knew what to do or i could have had a serious accident.i was on a 4-lane city street and changing lanes at the time the problem occurred.a less experienced driver would likely have been involved in a rear end collision.i was able to put the edge of my shoe under the accelerator and pull it up off the floor.is there a recall on the dodge and if not what can i do to prevent this happening again?i am concerned for the safety of me and my family when my wife drives the van.

Unlocking the door causes a loud buzzing sound to emit from the passenger side sliding door. I

Last night i was coming home and the car turned off by itself while i was waiting for the traffic light to change so i placed it in park and started it again it's running but i'm not sure what happened and concerns me because this our family.(my kids were in too).

This has happened a dozen times previously when slowing down or coming to a stop the engine stalls. So far it's only happened on a city street. I did bring it to a certified mechanic but could not find anything.

Vehicle was parked in driveway 7/9/20. I did not enter the van again until 7/11/20. Upon opening the driver's door i noticed the headrest had deployed. I understand this is a safety feature when you are in a rear end collision. There was no collision van was backed in driveway and stationary. It appears the brackets that hold the pin are broke. The passage headrest did not deploy, but iam now fearfull it may.

Gas pedal stuck on acceleration until van hit 108mph and shut of and turned back on and was fine again rear hatch light dose not stay in place

Using cruise control:upon hitting resume, vehicle accelerated rapidly to about 10 mph more that the expected recent cruise speed, then cruise control shut off.when i turned cruise back on, the light indicated it was active, but pressing the set button made the cruise turn back off.only after turning off the engine completely could i get cruise to work again, but once again, upon using the resume button, rapid acceleration to at least 10mph more that last cruise speed, then cruise shut down.vehicle is currently at dealer for diagnostics. And they just reported that they can not duplicate the problem, nor do they have a solution.i asked them to contact chrysler engineers to see if there was a suggestion, because i do not want to go through another scary unexpected acceleration episode again.nor do i want to have to drive from indiana to south carolina with benefit of cruise control again.another symptom is that the dte display failed to drop below 40 after the gas fuel light came on - in fact, the farther i drove with the fuel light on, the dte even advanced to 41 and 42!almost ran out of fuel because i was relying on the dte display.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. When the horn was depressed, there was a two second delay before an audible noise was present. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle did not immediately respond. The contact indicated that it took approximately two seconds for the vehicle to accelerate after depressing the pedal. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100.

This dodge grand caravan 2014 was purchased on 5-2014.this van is a death trap.this needs investigation on the amount of people whom have died as a result of driving this van.this van has most likely been the cause of several accidents and deaths.please look in to this.i am a experienced driver of over 35 years with knowledge of vehicles.this 2014 dodge van should be taken off the streets.i can not express to you enough how horrid the problem is with this van.simple story on march 21, 2015 while driving on to a very short ramp which leads to the highway with limited time to get in your slot or for those on it already, to make you a slot, i accelerated to needed speed to get a slot, once i was up to 70 mph i let off the gas pedal, the car continued to accelerate i was then not only in the thick of highway traffic traveling on i-70but as well after stomping literally on the breaks twice the car rpm continued to raise i was soon going 90 mph against my will and instantly thought maybe it was the gas pedal stuck i clearly looked down and saw it was not stuck on a matt since my van had no matt in the front drivers side, and frantically started pulling the gas pedal upwards with my foot trying to unstick it which it was not stuck i then stomped on the breaks again panicking at this time as not only coming upon the car in front still going near 95 mph and accelerating but there was no open slot to escape around any cars, i tried 4-5 times more to lift the pedal with my foot it wouldn't slow, i then threw car into neutral and slowed it down and drifted it off the ramp exit 295. I then turned it off at stop sign and restarted it terrified, and went home slow not over 30 mph. I sincerely believe that there have been multiple deaths and accidents from this that was never reported.

The contact owns a 2014 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle emitted an abnormal burning odor. The contact also stated that the front driver's window did not function. Reedman toll auto world (1700 e lincoln hwy #101, langhorne, pa) was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed due to the cost. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v234000 (electrical system). Case number: 33951971 was opened. The vehicle was not repaired.

The contact stated that the vent window in the rear failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vent window switch was not available. When you accelerate over 60 mph or if its windy, the windshield whistles like it is not sealed

The vehicle airbag lights stay on...the windshield wipers cut on by themselves and the window rolls down by itself.the car can be stationary or in motion.

My tire pressure sensors keep saying my tires are low but there not when i check em the sensors go on and off and i never know if there right just bought it for used dealer in may 2018 and have been going on and off i have even replaced the tires thinking something was wrong with them then i seen that they may have been recalled but dealer didn't say anything about it
