The safety headrest deployed in our 2013 grand caravan.the vehicle was not in use, stationary and parked in driveway, nor was it hit by another vehicle.in looking at the history of this make and model, it appears that this is a known issue with this vehicle.such occurrences are dangerous and not sure why a recall has not been issued already?

I have installed a blue driver diagnostics tool to my vehicle and reported that i have a recall for my vehicles airbag (please see attachment), but when i called chrysler/dodge help desk and said that i don't have any recall listed in my file. When i called blue driver company they said that information is came from chrysler. It's says in the recall info (blue driver) that its free of charge, but when i called chrysler help desk, the dealer will charge me for diagnostics. I just want to know if this recall from blue driver car diagnostic company's recall reports an accurate recall information, this is a safety issue information so that is why i'm concern about it. Hope you can help me. Thanks!

Oh my car has not been in any accident
2013 dodge caravan driver side head test deployed for no reason while stopped at a red light on the morning of september 8th, 2019. My vehicle was stationary. No accident or rear collision occurred. Photos of front and back of vehicle will prove no damage. It appears the plastic retainer which holds the component together failed and snapped on its own accord. This is a safety issue and needs to be addressed by dodge/chrysler.
Driving on highway car in motion when passenger headrest deployed hitting passengers head pushing them into dashboard. Taken to addys dodge and was told it was broke and needed a new headrest for $790.00 that headrest was not under warranty and asked for $ 98.00 for there inspection
The following has happened to my car. The ahr headrest went off, and i wasn't in an accident. However, dodge chrysler is not wanting to issue a recall since a person is not at risk for injury. However, cost to fix this headrest runs in the $500-$900 category. And it's a known issue. So why isn't dodge chrysler acknowledging it?the 'active head restraint' (ahr) headrests found in certain chrysler vehicles and manufactured by grammer ag suffer from a defect.the 65-page lawsuit out of florida alleges that although fca us and grammer ag's active head restraint is meant to spring forward in the event of a rear-end collision to catch a vehicle occupant's head to prevent whiplash, the feature can 'deploy without warning or external force from a collision, and forcefully strike the back' of a driver or passenger's head. Describing the apparent defect as common and uniform, the case claims the force of the impact to the back of a vehicle occupant's head and neck can cause serious injury and creates an additional accident risk should the defect manifest suddenly while a vehicle is in operation.according to the lawsuit, the cause of the defect is the failure of a 'cheap plastic component' inside the defendants' ahr. Specifically, the feature contains a plastic bracket that acts as the triggering mechanism and holds the feature's spring-loaded release in place until a sensor signals that the vehicle has been hit in its rear, the case explains. As a 'cost-saving measure,' the plaintiffs say, chrysler and grammer ag designed the ahr bracket with 'an inferior and inexpensive form of plastic' that can crack and break down prematurely due to the 75 pounds of constant pressure applied by the ahr's springs onto the bracket.
On 7/31/2016 my vehicle was parked in a driveway. I entered the vehicle, started the engine and the driver side active headrest deployed. Attempts to reset headrest per the operators manual failed. On 8/4/2016 i took the vehicle to the dealership who informed me that they could not reset headrest and it had to be replaced (cost approx $900). I contacted dodge customer service who has assigned an investigator to look into the issue. Case # 29846962 as of this date, 8/5, the replacement headrest is on order and i am waiting to be contacted by the investigator to look at the vehicle. Prior to the incident, the vehicle had been driven in excess of 500 miles (northern va to tn) and had been parked and secured in the driveway for approx. 1 hour. The vehicle was not, and has never been, in an accident.
The air bag light turned on while sitting at a complete stop. I noticed that when i get up from the seat the light will go off and then back on again once i sit back down. I seemed to do it more when the car had been in direct sun light. Since the first time it came on the light is random and comes on and off at any given time. Dealer has been notified and service is scheduled for later this week.

Car stalls unexpectedly while driving. The engine stops and there is a complete loss of power. Power steering fails and it is difficult to manouver vehicle. I can successfully restart the vehicle by either stopping the car, shifting into park, and restarting by turning the key, or shifting into neutral while the car is still in motion, then turning the key to restart, and then shifting back into drive. This has happened at least 10 times on the freeway going at freeway speeds over the past year, and dmore than 50 times on surface streets. Often this happens when hitting a bump in the road, but sometimes there isn't an obvious cause. Once while driving on a bumpy dirt road it repeatedly stalled, but when i held the key in place, it stopped stalling. We had the dealer look at it and they couldn't find any problems. We replaced the key thinking that might help, and it seemed to for a few months, but now the problem is worse than ever, stalling at least several times a week. In the past several months the car almost always won't start on the initial key turn. I have to hold it in start position for several seconds longer than normal, and i have to give it some gas and rev the engine for it to start. Having the car stall at any point while driving is frightening, but when this has happened on the highway, it is terrifying and horribly dangerous for me, my family, and other vehicles around me.
1st time june 2020: while driving on highway, suddenly warning lights started going on and off and on, van lost electrical power, shutting down all lights, windows, etc. Engine would not switch gears. Luckily, made it off the highway before the engine died. Towed to mechanic, could not find an issue after it was jump started. They tested it for 5 straight days.2nd time october 2020 pulled van out of garage to driveway, turned it off to load and put grandchildren in car seats. Van would not restart, towed, replaced battery.3rd time 11/7/2020 while driving on suburban busy road at night, suddenly various warning lights came on and off and on, wipers turned on by themselves, then all electrical power went out. I guided van into the nearest parking lot as the engine died and would not restart. Aaa came again, jumped the car, and while we discussed what to do, the car shut itself off again. Towed, mechanic replaced alternator.i have been very lucky not to be hit by another vehicle in two of these three instances. Current mileage: 102,201i can provide repair shop bills and proof of the 3 times vehicle was towed in last 6 months!

I can be driving at 40- 50 miles an hour and it just shuts down. The power steering goes out and brake light sometimes comes on. I can't steer it. Once i was in a curve on a narrow road when this happened and i almost ran off the road. At times when i'm going about 30 miles an hour and it just stops on me. It will start right back up. It has happened at least 3 times. Sometimes it will start up and immediately die. At other times it will start and run fine.

A few weeks ago my 2013 dodge grand caravan would have a hard time starting up.a few days after this happened the check engine light came on while i was driving and i took it in and had the battery replaced.this past week the same issue started happening.it would crank up, but not turn over.this happened 3 times before the car actually started. I also noticed that the passenger side door would lock and unlock when it felt like it (when the car was on) and the alarm lights would work intermittently (when trying to arm the car). Yesterday it cranked up and it took 3 times to turn over.when i got out of work it would crank, but didn't turn over at all. I had to get a jump and was able to drive it to an auto shop.they kept it overnight, called, and said i had to take it to the dealer because they concluded it was a bad tipm module.

The car engine stopped working while i was driving in the road. Then it would start after i crank the key.i also noted that some days it would not start when cold. Contacted dealer and they said if the engine light is not one they can't diagnose the problem. After searching the internet it looks like my car has a fuel pump relay issue/timp. We don't feel safe driving the car as it was very scary to stop without warning in the road or hwy.this issue happened before about 6 month ago and the dealer changed the transmission torque. The latest happened last week
While driving on the highway vehicle starting losing power.it started shutting down all systems and finally stopped working. Vehicle is 3 years old with 50k mileage.the alternator failed.there is a recall for other dodge vehicles with similar engines that have faulty alternators.this should be included in that recall.luckily my kids were not in the vehicle and we could get off to the side safely. Dodge charged me $1000 for a new alternator and a battery in a 3 year old vehicle.

The dodge grand caravan 2013 has 147,631 miles on it, and when starting the vehicle for 2 weeks it occasionally took 3-7 seconds to start the engine.then the fuse/relay shorted out for the fuel pump because of the faulty electrical fuse box, causing the fuel pump to burn out.a new fuel pump was installed into the gas tank, and a dodge factory part called an external wire kit was hard-wired into the wires for the fuel pump so that it could bypass the permanently burnt-out fuel pump fuse/relay part of the fuse box.

My wife was traveling with our daughter on the highway when all of a sudden the instrument lights started flashing, radio went off, and the car began powering down. Thankfully she was able to safely pull off the highway into a parking lot just as it shut down. The vehicle wouldn't restart. I had to leave work early and meet her with jumper cables. In the meantime i called the dealership where we purchased this car new in october of 2012. The service representative kindly told me that because we had 42k miles on it that it was outside of the 3/36000 warranty. I expressed complete disgust with this because we consider this a new (and our dependable) vehicle that is only 20 months old. I managed to charge the battery and limp the car home. I removed the alternator and found one of the slip rings along with one brushes completely worn down to nothing. It's clearly a defective alternator that resulted in a very dangerous driving situation due to loss of power at 60mph on the highway. Chrysler customer care and the dealership had no sympathy and even after bringing the alternator into the dealership the service manager said they would need to have the vehicle towed to the dealership so they could "diagnose" it and still couldn't guarantee a warrantied replacement. The dealership wanted me to re-install the failed alternator and then get the car to them some 30 miles away in some chance of them covering the cost to replace it......so i bought a brand new alternator from another dealership at the tune of $400 and installed it myself.i also havesubmitted a claim to chrysler for a full refund.......

The trailer lighting module failed twice. There have also been intermittent lights and alarms that activate in the dash panel. I've been told that the total integrated power module (tipm) causes these actions, including the failure of the towing light module. The lighting failed has caused me to have to tow a trailer with defective lights until i could reach a safe place to drop the trailer.

Driver side passenger sliding door is stuck in the locked position. It will not unlock manually or with the key fob. Obviously mini-vans are very popular amount moms with kids - this creates a serious safety risk. At the moment in the event of an emergency my passengers would only be able to get out of one functioning door.

The vehicle has been regularly maintained. There's a huge electrical issue, has been ever sense i've owned it. The transmission is going on it, and i'm just over 100k miles.
The vehicle will stop while driving. It cuts off after starting and sometimes takes up to 10 minutes just to start it. The battery is dying daily and has to be jumped or disconnected just to start in the morning. Have read several complaints and all end up having to bypass or change the tipm fuse box. It was defective on 2011 and 2012 models. The issue still exists on the 2013 model.

Fuel pump relay malfunction
Battery is not holding a charge for more than 3 hours. I have taken the vehicle to several mechanics and auto-shops, but no one is able to diagnose the problem. When the battery dies, and i get it towed to a shop, they say they cannot diagnose it unless they charge or jump the battery; but once the battery is charged/jumped, the diagnosis comes back clean. Literally, every morning i need to get the car jump started, else i am stranded. This problem has been sporadic for about the last 7 months, but it has become a regular problem with the past 2 weeks. Once the car rests for more than 3 hours, it dies. I have check the alternator check to see if the diodes are leaking; i have had the starting and charging systems check, but no one can find a resolution to the problem. The power drivers seat has also stopped working about 4 months ago, and the ac lights flicker constantly (even though the ac does work normally)i see there was a previous recall concerning electrical problem with the driver side arm rest, but i don't know if this could possibly be a related issue. *dtconsumer stated other than the power seat and the draining battery, the only otherissue consumer noticed was aflickering of the ac lights.

The door locks stopped working for both the lock button and the key fob. This becomes a safety issue because the side doors can be locked manually, but the lift gate does not have a manual lock. Additionally online research shows that the tipm failure can cause catastrophic events such as sudden airbag deployment for no reason, failure to start, stalling while driving, etc.!! chrysler is said to be well aware of this issue and has yet to initiate a recall and we were planning on a florida vacation this year (we live in ohio) and due to the possibility of getting stuck on our way or once there, we decided not to go to the dismay of our kids. Fix this problem chrysler and quit screwing your customers!!!

Saturday 27 may 2017, i was coming back from a grand junction, iowa cemetery visit northwest of des moines, iowa and driving back on a highway doing 64 in a 65 mph zone, following an iowa state trooper, and the battery light came on - my mileage at that exact time was 45419.i drove to my sister-in-law's home in urbandale, iowa (i drove approx 11 miles to her home after the light came on) where we were staying over the memorial day weekend.then i drove to an o'reilley auto parts store.they checked my battery, it was ok, except that it was at about 88%.they then checked the alternator and it was not charging the battery.the technician said that i could drive home to harlan, iowa, a 100 mile trip if the battery were charged up fully.i went back to my sister-in-law's home and called stew hansen dodge, where i bought this vehicle on 29 august 2013, as a new vehicle with 18 miles on the odometer .i told the person who answered the phone that the "alternator" had abruptly stopped working, and asked if i could bring it in.it was saturday 27 may 2017 at about 1 pm.the service person said they were open until 3:30 pm but they only did oil changes on weekends.i explained my situation of living 100 miles out of des moines, iowa and was concerned about getting home with no alternator.she said she was sorry but they couldn't help me until next week tuesday.i went back to my sister-in-law's house, charged the battery up and drove home back to harlan, iowa 100 miles west on monday, 29 may 2017.my mileage now at this time is 45540.i discovered that this same engine with the same alternator in "some dodge chargers" has the very same problem and has been recalled, but no notifications have been sent to owners.i am going to try to call chrysler dodge this morning to inquire if my alternator is recalled.

Dealer (durocher dodge, plattsburgh, ny) has yet to complete recall 14v-234 on our family vehicle. I have checked with them numerous times on it and have been told there is no fix. It has now been almost two years since the recall and i have been unable to use my back vent windows. Nobody from the dealership has called me to give me updates and this will eventually lead me to reconnecting the window switch since it is not getting repaired. It is very concerning.
They tested it for 5 straight days. Could not drive the vehicle at a highway speed once this started happening, it would not accelerate or switch gears, top speed was 35 mph.not sure of precise date off the top of my head, but it was july 2020. Exact date can be verified from mechanic and aaa towing info.

Car battery was dead, was able to jump start several times, then had to 'jump it' everyday. 04/2018 replaced the alternator, starter and battery. 11/2018 car was dead again, could not jump it. Towed to service center, took them 7 hours to recharge battery, but all systems checked as normal. Charge lasted 3 days. Van has been to 2 separate service centers who cannot diagnose why the battery is dying and takes at least 3 hours to recharge. Vehicle has had to be towed twice, cannot take my children in vehicle for fear they will be stranded in the cold with no heat. After vehicle was charged overnight i was able to drive it, but after sitting for 2 hours the battery was dead. Vehicle was towed to big o tires twice and i was able to drive to dodge dealer. Neither service center found any reason for the vehicle to die.

Vehicle has abruptly shut down during operation at speeds greater than 60 mph. I was able to safely guide vehicle to an available shoulder area and restart. The shut down came with dash lights of service engine soon and battery light. These lights have been simultaneous and intermittent. Vehicle was taken into the dealer and the dealer indicated that a ob computer software upgrade was required and uploaded. I was charged a diagnosis fee for this. The upload appears to have cured the service engine light but the battery light has returned.

The vehicle intermittently experiences interruption to fuel delivery (?) on the street, highway, and freeway at various speeds.this typically happens when accelerating.the van will be accelerating smoothly and then, suddenly, lose power and act like it is going to stall completely.it will cough and lurch and then resume accelerating.on three occasions it has stopped accelerating entirely, forcing my son and i to coast to the side of the road, during rush hour traffic, without power steering or brakes, and wait until it is ready to resume acceleration.the fuel pump was tested and is fully functional, and the transmission was replaced a year ago.additionally, during the time periods when it is exhibiting this behavior, it also fails to start on the first attempt.the ignition will crank continuously, the battery has power, but the engine will not engage.this has been a temporary/intermittent issue that would 'vanish' on repeated attempts.today it will not start at all, leaving us stranded once again.the last time it refused to start entirely we were at a rest area in northern arizona in 124 degree heat for hours.this is incredibly dangerous and mechanics have told me that it is known to be the tipm, which is faulty.if this part is known to be faulty, why is it not recalled?
While driving on the interstate with cruise control on, the car shut off entirely after hitting a bump. The rpm went down to 0 and the gas pedal did not work. Everything seemed fine as we were driving. We did not have any warning lights or check engine lights. The car simply shut off at 80 mph. Attempts to turn the car back on did not work. This has now happened on two separate occasions. Thankfully we were able to pull to the side of the road safely each time. We aren't sure if this is an electrical problem, since cruise control was on when the car shut off.
Does not start it has tipm fuel pump relay failure

Recall p25 for rear vent window switch has been out for six months.i contacted the dealer and there is still no replacement part.i contacted the chrysler recall number for "more information"...they had none.six months is an unreasonable amount of time.why is there no replacement part?when will there be a replacement part?these are simple questions that the dealer and the manufacturer cannot or will not answer.i would think that given six months there would be some effort to fix my car or at least explain why the delay and give an estimate of time when they intend to fix it.six months is unreasonable.

On september 25, 2015, the battery light came on while travelling from canada to usa at night time with my wife and two young children.because i carry a vehicle scanner with me, i pulled over at a rest stop and checked the voltage sense pid.it showed 12.5v.thought that was acceptable and continued driving.aproximately 400 miles later, vehicle exhibited sudden loss of momentum while in cruise control at 72mph, as i pressed on the accelarator, vehicle downshifted and rpms rose to 4500, however vehicle slowed even more and i had to take evasive action to get to right shoulder.vehicle went from approx 72mph in cruise control to 40mph in a matter of few seconds while i was trying to accelarate to safely get vehicle from left lane on i-495 s to right shoulder.i again plugged in my scanner and had code p0622 show up.at this time, control module voltage sense was reading 11v.after erasing the code and multiple ignition key cycling attempts, the vehicle started up, and everything seemed fine, battery light went out and voltage was again at 12.5 v, and climbing.we made it to our destination (taunton, ma) and everything seemed normal over the course of the weekend.on september 28, while we were travelling back to canada, within 40 miles of leaving taunton, the battery light came on again, but very shortly after the vehicle lost power again, and had to scramble to get vehicle pulled over to the shoulder of the highway (i-495 n). And is unable to restart.i called fca road side assistance, and they sent a tow truck.the vehicle is currently at dan's dodgechrysler jeep in westboro, ma, usa awaiting diagnostic.

Our 2013 dodge grand caravan alternator and pcs failed at 68000 miles.the failure occurred while driving with my wife and 4 children in the car.multiple dashboard lights came on and the the vehicle engine was racing but the transmission would not engage.the only reason there was not a crash was that they were traveling downhill and did not need to accelerate as the vehicle was not able to.luckily they were able to pull the car over without incident.dodge has recalled this alternator in over 900,000 vehicles on 4 other models with the 3.6 liter engine but has not in the grand caravan for some reason.i contacted dodge and they were unwilling to help in any way to repair my vehicle to make it operable and safe again.this repair was quoted form my local dodge dealer to cost over $750.

Tipm needed to be replaced at my costeven though this is been a problem in other dodge vehicles. The fuel pump relay was not working the horn started going off for no reason and there were starting issues, with car eventually stalling while moving. It wasover $1200 to fix.then, six months later the car is still not starting accurately and was fixed at my cost. A ground wire was put in from the battery to the transmission. I wastoldthis was not part of the tipm issue but they did not know what was causing it. Dodges problem-solving database showed that thisproblem was fixed in other dodges with ground wire. This repair was at my cost. Lastly, the valves and gaskets as part of the powertrain system have been replaced twice in less than two years. They are under warrantyand the repair was no cost to me, but they've had to be replaced twice.

My rear quarter vent windows were on a recall and i took it to the dodge dealership(may 2014) where they disconnected the automatic switch to the windows.it has now been non-operational since then. I have contacted dodge corporate offices and the dealership on a routine basis to be constantly told they have no idea when this will be repaired. This is beyond a reasonable time to fix something like this. Please help me as i would like to have my windows operational.dodge simply does not seem to care and have no interest or priority in repairing this defect.thanks
Vehicle would not start, took to garage they said fuel pump, still would not work, took back they said tipm, had it changed, got van back now the signal lights don't work took back they test it and guess what tipm again, so now after nearly 3000 in repairs and800 in rentals i am waiting another week for another tipm not impressed at all. After researching this issue it is far to common and should be made a full recall, i know of four failures in the last week in my little area alone. Something needs to be done, this problem can affect any component of the vehicle from brakes to air bags to anything that is run by a fuse which is pretty much everything, someone is going to be seriously injured because of this if there hasn't been already.

As many have stated, i had intermittent stalling.after taking it to an independent repair shop, they diagnosed it with having a faulty fuel relay and are putting in a bypass kit.why wasn't the recall expanded to included the minivans by chrysler? the recall for this specific device failing was done for durango's and cherokee.$700 repair because the minivans were not included in the recall despite it being the same engine as the durango...
Within 500 miles of owning this brand new, it started having trouble starting. Long story short, we were told it was a defective fuel pump. Fast forward to approximately 105,000 miles it's having the same symptoms but won't start at all now. Chrysler has issued recall v62 for durango's and cherokee's with the same tipm and engine as a grand caravan but didn't include it in the recall. Approximate cost of repair is $1350 and the part is on back order for at least 3 weeks. Leading me to believe there is a serious problem with the part!!!

The driver side rear sliding door cannot be opened manually or electrically.the door will not unlock electrically or manually, so the interior and exterior opening handles cannot be operated.using the key fob or interior buttons to open the door cause a message to display on the dash information area saying "unlock door to operate."this poses a risk if there is an accident and my children need to exit or be removed from the vehicle, especially if other doors are blocked or damaged due to an accident.the vehicle has been stationary.i have not tried to open the door while in motion.

This vehicle has the same problem regarding the wireless ignition module (wim) problems as the 2008 - 2012 of same models.my wife was driving this car with all four of our children while we are here in germany (active duty us air force) 2017 and the engine died with no warning/indicators.i was not in the vehicle so i though maybe she hit the ignition and it cut out.at that point we swapped vehicles and i have been using this car as my primary vehicle for driving back and forth to work 2017 - 2021.i am a aircraft mechanic with over 23 years of maintenance experience on multiple different airframes.i have personally witnessed the engine cutting out while driving no less than 20 times since (4/25/2021).i have been able to put the van in neutral and immediately restart the engine (while i am driving and this happens).this happens at slow speeds (residential area with children playing in streets, high speeds (while on the autobahn), during turns (driving on hilly curved roads luckily i haven't exited the roadway yet!), braking (at stop lights), while parallel parking; power brakes stop operating, power steering stops operating, gas pedal stops responding to input - all due to the engine that stops operating.what i believe now due to the wireless ignition module going from on position to accy a malfunction with in the wim.it's like someone just killed the engine, but all lights, radio, everything else electrical still operates perfectly.mileage 135,000 milesthere are no indicators that the engine has ceased to operate except that the rpms are at 0 (even at idle rpms should be around 1,000 rpms).no other indicator light illuminates.connected obd2, no codes, i even drive with a blue driver attached and when it has happened there are no codes recorded.these cars are hazards on the roads and it is shameful dodge will not admit their mistake!

At just over 36000 my engine light came on, i was told that the car needed to have cylinder heads and another engine part replaced.when i went to pick the van up the check engine light was on- i was told the pcm (power control module) was bad.after approx. 10000 more miles, while driving on a local road, all of my lights appeared on my dash board- the vehicle went into some mode and i couldn't drive over 25 mph.i stopped at a local auto parts store and was told that my battery now had a bad cell, the alternator was bad- i took it to the dealership and i was again told the pcm was bad.why is the pcm failing?an alternator and battery being bad atgoing at 46000 miles, just over 2 years old.i see many of the chrysler products had recalled alternators- what about this pcm?why is continuing to fail?

Left side rear passenger door stuck in the lock position, unable to open it neither electric or manual, neither from outside or inside.the engine just turned itself off in four separate occasions, twice while crossing the intersection. Gaskets (y conector between hoses) of the cooling system blown off while driving on the highway , toxic antifreeze spilled out of the system, dangerous for passengers and environment. Rear calipers jamed because of excessive and unusual rust. Steering wheel jamed few times while driving, being necessary to stop the car, turning the engine off and on to be able to continue driving(this happened on the highway, and in the city, extremely dangerous). Transmission shatters in different stages of driving, before stopping, after stopping, while reducing the speed or accelerating.
Since i bought the vehicle from a previous owner, the car all of a sudden stalls on the highway, a total shut down occurs while driving on highway or local roads. It is really a scary situation. When i looked into product recall on this vehicle, nothing shows up, except several complaints of the same matter. I found out from the web it is a failure of totally integrated fuel system failure and also related to a fuel pump relay failure. So far, no recalls from chrysler/dodge manufacturers.no government actions either.
Tipm faulty in our 2013 dodge caravan with 54000 miles. Van will not start..the fuel pump relay dangerously allows the fuel pump to continue even after van is shut off. These were recalled on thousands but only until 2012. Bought the van with 2 miles off showroom floor , never again will buy a dodge.. Customer service says we are out of the crappy 36,000 mile warranty and conveniently..this seems to happen after 45,000 miles in the dodge.
Airbags lights keep going on and off.the vehicle stalled out during moving and the steering locked up.

Our 2013 dodge grand caravan would start fine and idle fine. Once on the road driving around locally nothing more than 10 -15 miles from the house with average speed of 35-45 mph the engine would just die! no warning lights or sounds it would just die. You would have to pull to the side of the road and restart the engine. You then would continue on with your drive and at the next stop sign or traffic light it would do it again, the engine would just die. You would have to repeat the steps all over again and restart the engine. Another time my wife (luckily none of my 3 children in the van at the time) took a left hand turn and midway through the turn the engine died and lost all control of the van! no steering or brakes! almost sent the van off into the ditch and almost rolled over. Now the engine will just die even when idling in the driveway. Once again no warning. No mil identification light comes on and no codes thrown. Van has in the past 6 months had the battery, fuel pump, injectors and coil packs replace. None of which solved the problem. Dodge has no recalls for this vin in regards to random engine dying even though hundreds and hundreds of consumers have expressed their concerns of the same issues. This van is very unsafe and does not belong on the roads let alone having a family of 5 travel in it. We feel dodge is literally dodging the issue and this is unsafe consumer practice.

Passenger sliding door buzzes when locked or unlocked. Stationary
2011 dodge grand caravan passenger sliding doors will randomly shut after being opened and reaching the full open position. Video demonstration will be posted soon on youtube with the previous sentence as search title. Occurs when any button in the car, remote, or manual handle is used to activate automatic opening of the door. Symptoms have occurred in many locations and at all car ground slope angles. Problem began after the recall powertrain software update. Car has been to dealer many times and symptoms have been reproduced at dealership. Re-training an affected door may reduce symptoms. A door module was replaced but did not repair problems. Because it is random passengers are unsuspecting. Multiple incidents have occurred with doors closing on passengers who enter before the door has finished opening. Multiple incidents have occurred of unbalanced adults placing babies into child seats who have less then one inch clearance to their arm with the door in the full open position and have no time to react. When this occurs the adult may lose hold of the baby. A parent placing a child in a carseat may have the door shut on their torso. Children or frail adults entering or exiting the vehicle may be ejecting into or out of the car and may be seriously injured during the fall. Children or adults entering or exiting the vehicle may havea body part trapped in the door and seriously injured.

Defective window regulators. I work for a federal fleet and we have have several thousand window regulators on dodge grand caravans fail and be replaced, and even some of the replacements have failed. The manufacturer is well aware of this and has reimbursed my agency for some of the costs. The fact that they haven't opened a recall or extended warranty for the general public is complete bs and a total customer service failure on their part.
Front brakes are wearing out unusually fast,(not lasting a year), electrical outlets stopped working briefly, driver's side electric window does not work consistently
About a month ago the driver's side sliding door stopped working in my wife's 2013 dodge grand caravan sxt. The lock will not actuate to either lock or unlock and so the door is stuck effectively locked and will not open. This is the only door that has this particular issue but a few times i have ridden with my wife i have noticed that the other door locks do not automatically trigger and auto-lock as they should when the vehicle is initially put into drive for about 10min after the vehicle has been in motion. The locked sliding door creates a safety hazard in my opinion since the door cannot be opened electronically or manually. The delayed activation of the auto-lock could also indicate a larger issue with either the door lock mechanisms in general or the electrical system that controls them. After searching online i have found that there is an abundance of issues like these concerning various years and models of dodge minivans. Enough to possibly constitute a recall.

The 2013 dodge grand caravan sxt gets stuck in a low gear revving the rpms to 4,000-5,000 rpms while going at low speeds. This has occurred every week since purchase of the vehicle, anywhere from1-3 times a day; it is rare to go a day without the car getting stuck in low gear. This occurs when the car is started and as i pull out. The transmission has been replaced, the battery has been replaced twice and the car has stalled twice. Within the two years of owning the vehicle, it has been in to be repaired 10 times. I purchased the vehicle in 2017 and own it to current date in 2019. I have had three different repair shops attempt to resolve the issue and none of them can. The car still gets stuck in low gear and the rpms rev to 4,000-5,000. This car has a defective transmission and more than likely is part of the defective issues with the tipm, totally integrated power module. (nhtsa action #dp14004)
My drivers side rear sliding door will not unlocked manually or with the key fob or with the unlock button in the van. So this door will not open at all. It's stuck shut. Also when i press the unlock button inside the van and on the fob it makes a loud buzzing noise. This happened last evening after i had loaded my kids in the car to go home and parked in the driveway. I was unable to get my 1 year old out of her car seat from the rear drivers side sliding door.this is definitely a safety hazzard. What if that was the only way out of the vehicle due to an accident. We would be trapped.

Recall #p25/nhtsa 14v-234why is it taking so long to get this replacement done? i got the first notice in may 2014 and have not heard a thing since. I have called the dealer several times and even stopped by, also no other information in the mail.i realize that the dealer can disconnect the switch so that the windows do not function but, as i told the dealer, i travel with my dogs and sometimes have to leave them in their crates in the van overnight at motels (don't allow the in the rooms) and the few that do allow dogs in rooms, charge an additional fee. Fact is-- i need to have proper ventilation for them.i purchased this particular vehicle because of the ventilation the windows provide. This is a real inconvenience, especially for this length of time.
Recall on rear windows electrical switch. They disabled the switch months ago but when i call they never have the part in to replaced recalled part.

Car would not restart had to get a jump from another car and it started and was driven home and parked every since. This really scared my wife because she could have easily been hit by a car in her rear.

The vehicle has been regularly maintained. There's a huge electrical issue, has been ever sense i've owned it. The transmission is going on it, and i'm just over 100k miles.
Pulling onto the freeway the engine shut off and even with the key in the on position the power steering and brakes were not available. I reached about 5000 rpms when the engine shut off and there is no check engine light.the van will try to turn over for about 5 seconds aftee i stop trying to get it to start.

Van just reached 100k miles and has been maintained & serviced & all of a sudden it has started shutting off while driving, no warning, no lights, just shuts off while driving. This is extremely dangerous & appears to be either the ignition module or computer neither of which have recalls for this year despite the same problems with previous model years.
Catalytic converter went out less than a month after i brought this vehicle at only 98k miles. Check engine light on couldn't get van inspected.now the flywheel is cracked and that's going to cost me another $530.00. I can't find any recalls but seems like a lot is wrong with this van and everything is so [xxx] expensive.parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Engine bucks and skips. Code p0302, p0304, p0306,p0863, p0152, p0175, b193.last event occurred in driveway and ran fine after driving about a half mile. Other events similar.
Was driving down busy city expressway frontage road at approx 40 mph.accelerated and passed the slower-moving vehicle ahead of me....upon clearing the vehicle i was passing, released my foot from accelerator, but vehicle failed to return to prior pass speed and instead continued to accelerate faster. Attempted to brake....pumped the brake hard when that didn't work but no luck. Held the brake pedal in to the floor as far as it would go to counter the engine audibly reving to gain more speed (hoping to slow the accelerate process as much as possible and maybe hold it at its current rate despite the engine still trying to go faster).i rode out the uncontrolled acceleration issue until coming to a long turn lane where i veered off to get away from other cars. Wth a busy intersection approaching quickly ahead of me and the braking not resolving the issue, i threw the vehicle into park and after a brief time it finally slowed to a stop. This is the only thing that worked...i even checked to see if gas pedal was physically stuck somehow on the floor mat (it was not),and lifted up from underneath it with my foot to verify this, during this attempt to regain speed control..i believe it was this in addition to putting vehicle in "park" that actually stopped the engine acceleration/rev so the vehicle could physically stop...ii is valid to note that i previously took this vehicle into the dealership (around 36000 miles) for evaluation with prior concerns over the engine/transmission not seeming to function right/smoothly....the dealership reported that "they could find nothing wrong with it." & it was returned to me with no adjustment/repair.this vehicle has several of theory same complaints on the web (acceleration stick/engine/transmission) over a span of several year models & nothing is being done about it or even acknowledging it...huge safety issues here.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate above 25 mph on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to egolf ford of brevard (1235 asheville hwy, brevard, nc 28712, (828) 884-4151), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The dealer did not test drive the vehicle after it was serviced more than four times. The contact stated that diagnostic testing found 10 failure codes which had not been remedied. In addition, the check engine indicator intermittently flashed. The vehicle was towed to skyland auto group (255 smokey park highway, asheville, nc 28806, 828-667-5213) where it was diagnosed that the failure was associated with a factory failure on some vehicles in which the bolts had not been torqued properly. The contact stated that diagnostic testing found ten failure codes, which had not been remedied. The manufacturer issued bulletin number: s1618000050 on november 15, 2016. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 89,215. The vin was not available.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. While accelerating, the engine seized. The contact had a scanner that diagnosed that engine cylinder number two had rust particles and the number four cylinder misfired. The number six cylinder had no issues. The engine was a pintastar 3.6 liter, which failed in past vehicles of the same model. The manufacturer extended the warranty up to 100,000 miles. Neesen chrysler dodge jeep ram (2151 n us, us-77, kingsville, tx 78363, (361) 516-001) was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle was included in the extended warranty. The failure mileage was 85,000.
The engine in the van stalled (simply shut off - did not sputter) while driving at a steady speed in traffic. Consequently the power assist for the steering and brakes failed. In that situation my physically challanged wife was completely unable to control the van. Thankfully the van rolled to a stop without hitting anyone or anything, or getting hit from behind. After putting the gear selector into "park" it restarted normally.this happened twice within 15 minutes during the sameshort trip home. There was no warning signs whatsover before this happened. (no check engine light, etc.) an internet search of abundant identical dodge grand caravan stalling issues indicates a very serious safety issue that the manufacturer is currently trying to evade - for far too many years, to the detriment of public safety.
Vehicle seized up and stalled during driving.previous cranks but won't start1 year many times. Did a relay bypass wire to start vehicle. Transmission problems and not acceleration.
Vehicle has misfireand ticking sound from engine with check engine light on and flashing. Also whendriving vehiclewants to stall when idling.. Took to dealer and told me head cylinder need replaced but not covered by extended warranty chrysler issued for exact same reason for 2011-2013 models.this is not fair that not all 2013 grand caravans are covered.they should all be covered by same warranty.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving, with the abs and traction control warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to westgate chrysler jeep dodge ram (2695 e main st, plainfield, in 46168), to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that due to the fuel relay being integrated into the tipm, the tipm needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
The van randomly and with no warning loses power steering and locks the gas pedal so it cannot be pressed while driving around 25-35 mph.putting the van in park and restarting the car fixes the problem.this has happened at least 8 times in the last 4 months.mechanic has tried to fix the problem and the problem continues to be an issue. It seems to happen near stoplights while the car is in motion.it also seems to occur within 10-20 minutes of starting the vehicle.on one occasion the brakes locked up with the steering.no engine lights turn on when it happens, and it is impossible to replicate the problem on demand. Through social networking and researching the problem online many other dodge caravans and chrysler vans have had this same problem with no solution.
The cooling system started a leak near the firewall where are the metal tubing connects 2 each y plastic connectors. It is one solid piece that wraps around the top of the engine and factory price is $185 no third party available. After inspecting the y connectors they are made of very very thin abs plastic. At 125000 miles had to replace it twice within 50000 milesthe second time i used 2 each brass tee connectors with additional 5/8 heater hose and spliced it together for a better stronger connection. This has made the fourth high pressure leak i've had and 60,000 miles.
The van turns of while i'm driving, no warning, nothing lit up on the dash, just shuts off! after sitting awhile it will finally restart. However to be driving and have it shut off is dangerous!
The engine turns off while driving with no warning. It cranks after that, but doesn't start until 20 minutes or so after the shutoff. It's happened 4 times so far: 4/18/2017 at 42,770 miles, 11/15/2017 at 49,000, 6/25/2018 at 53,200, and 8/8/2018 at 54,650. The 1st and 3rd times the car was making, or had just completed, an extended hill climb on city streets and the gas tank level was relatively low. The 2nd and 4th times the car was on the highway on level terrain with a 3/4 to full gas tank. After 1st occurrence, towed to local shop and he could find no error code in the car's computer. Then drove it to dealer and he kept it overnight. Dealer agreed that there were no codes but said that restart could have erased them. He said that he could not make it happen in his shop and, therefore, could not diagnose the problem. For subsequent shutoffs we just waited the 20 minutes, restarted and drove off hoping it would not recur. Luckily, we were able to pull off to the shoulder with no incident. We now drive only in the right-hand lane and try to avoid highways and long-distance trips. The car is unreliable and dangerous.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while driving at 5 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. While driving approximately 55 mph with the accelerator pedal engaged, the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that the vehicle was operating as designed. The failure recurred. In addition, the contact stated that the radio overheated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the radio needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30.

Well i was driving the airbag light came on and keeps giving me a warning signal. Cruise control won't work
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated while driving 50 mph, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle off the roadway. The vehicle was restarted after approximately 15 minutes, and operated as intended. The contact however decided to have the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic determined that the fuel pump relay failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. Antwerpen dodge ram (5717 baltimore national pike, catonsville, md 21228) was contacted and confirmed that there were no recalls associated with the vin. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage 106,000.

After fueling van completely the engine stalls numerous time until the fuel gauge drops down about 1/8th below the full mark. This has actually happened many times in the last six to eight months and it always happens right after fueling to completely full. This happened most recently in a busy intersection with an elderly lady in the back.
I started to have a problem starting my van i called my mechanic and he asked me what happened i told him that i tried to start the van it doesn't start immediately i have to try several times and after a while the battery will be dead in the morning and i started to disconnect my battery terminal he said he seen this problem before it's very common in dodge grand caravan it's the tipm ( the fuse box ) the fuel pump relay is welded into the fuse box and can not be replaced and if it goes bad it will cost 1200 $ to replace that is crazy if this was toyota the cost of fuel pump relay is no more than 20 to 30 dollars it's a bad design and dodge should pay for it
Initailly battery light came on unexpectedly. 30 mins later while driving on the street, the car would no longer pull as if it had been shifted into neutral.constantly shifting the car into neutral and backinto drive i was able to pull onto a side street. I could hear a solid click when doing the shifting. Checked transmissin fluid and it was clean and at a good level. Battery light stayed on and eventually car would no longer start.
Fuel pump remains on even when the ignition is off, this has happened 4 times, and is continuing more frequently.
On july 20, 2014, we filled up the van and traveled approx 120 miles out of town.later in the afternoon, when trying to pull forward from a dead stop at red light, the van stalled.after 3 attempts, we were able to get to the side of the road.turned off the car and waited a few moments.we were able to proceed with no problems.took the van to the dealership the next week and were told that we probably had water in the fuel.the same thing has happened approximately 6-8more times in the last 2 months.the most recent was friday, september 5, 2014.i filled up late in the morning.the van stalled twice later in the afternoon when trying to pull out from stop signs.
When accelerator depressed rpm's would go to 4 or 5, but car wasn't getting much power.pretty quickly rpm's started going to 6 and 7 with even less power.stopped driving the car and had it towed to the nearest dealership.was told the powertrain was still under warranty and it sounded like a transmission problem.when dealership called back they stated a part called a tipm needed to be replaced and the part is on back order with no estimated time of arrival.$925 for the part plus labor.what am i supposed to do until the part comes in, they said it could be 3 days or 3 months, no one knows.
My wife was driving early morning, while entering the freeway, she accelerated and crossedlanes. When she removed her foot from the accelerator, the van kept accelerating. She was between two semi trucks so she tapped the brakes and started hitting the cruise control buttons. The van kept accelerating.she was able to change lanes towards the berm and started to apply the brakes. She reached a speed of about 85 mph. As she was braking, the engine was still trying to accelerate. She was able to pull the van off the road and eventually was able to stop the vehicle and turned the ignition off. There was smoke coming from the brakes from the forced stop.restarting the van after a few minutes, she proceeded safely to work.after rethinking the situation, she contacted dodge and had the vehicle towed to the dealership.they tested the van and found no codes in the computer.the following week, a technician test drove the van and it accelerated uncontrollably also. He wrote that the pedal was not stuck. He put the van in neutral twice and turned the key off, and restarted the van and the rpm's were at 4,000. He then pulled off the road. He waited a while and then restarted the van and it ran normal.the technician did state that there were some codes (c212a, b192d, & b18a8)the dealer contacted chrysler corp. And they sent a technicians out to investigate.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to dayton andrews chrysler dodge jeep ram (2388 gulf to bay blvd, clearwater, fl 33765, (727) 799-4539) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump relay failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
The tipm has gone bad in this van. The van will stall while driving and the fuel pump will stay running if you don't pull the fuse. This is a recall on only certain models made by dodge but they are claiming it is not a problem with this van even though they are the same components. I now have to put out $1600 to repair something chrysler will not accept responsibility. This vehicle is unsafe without the repair and chrysler should do better.
Vehicle started have hesitation with starting. Once started after many attempts, during acceleration the vehicle still can be hesitate in moving. I recently replaced battery whereas the issue is the external fuel pump relay with the vehicle not receiving proper amount of voltage which currently is 1. Your other vehicles such as jeeps were recalled but not the dodge vans especially this particular year which is 201 when it should have. Currently my vehicle had to be towed to a dealership for me to incur cost of the relay package which should have been under safety recall p54.part #cbp4p541an. Unfortunately, i can not wait due to family needs the van done immediately but reimbursement will be necessary. Many of your vehicles have this same part and all should have been recalled especially with many mothers with their families utilizing your vehicles so heavy.
This is the 6th time my van has died on me while driving it. I will be driving at any rate of speed and my van will just shut off. If i leave it sit for 45minites it will start back up. Today it died on me in the middle of an intersection with three kids in the car. We have taken it several places and no one seems to be able to help us. We have replaced the tipm. No check engine light is ever on when it happens
I turned off my 2013 grand caravan and noticed a sound like a fan buzzing coming from the rear tire area. In a few hrs i came back out and tried to start it and the battery was dead. Research tells me it's the fuel pump relay.
The car engine stopped working while i was driving in the road. Then it would start after i crank the key.i also noted that some days it would not start when cold. Contacted dealer and they said if the engine light is not one they can't diagnose the problem. After searching the internet it looks like my car has a fuel pump relay issue/timp. We don't feel safe driving the car as it was very scary to stop without warning in the road or hwy.this issue happened before about 6 month ago and the dealer changed the transmission torque. The latest happened last week
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after several attempts. The vehicle had to be jumpstarted. The contact purchased a new battery, but the vehicle failed to start. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the fuel pump relay failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
The first occurrence was when i was driving on an interstate, about 65 mph, when the engine abruptly stalled.i changed several lanes onto the shoulder and call a tow truck, but before it arrived, it was able to start again, after ~30 minutes.this same behavior has happened 4 more times (total of 5 times in a year, or about 15k miles), sometimes weeks apart, sometimes months.the other occasions were slower, 25-40 mph.the dodge dealership was unhelpful diagnosing the problem, as all systems appear fine until the problem appears, which they unsurprisingly could not provoke.on each occasion, when we try to start the car again, it sounds as if it has no fuel, but after ~30 min. Of sitting, it starts again and drives just fine.it is very unnerving to always have to consider that the car may simply stall, this is absolutely a safety concern.currently i plan to replace the tipm module, as it seems to have been a source of problems on many chrysler models.i will just cross my fingers that it doesn't happen again.
Van cranks but will not turn over / start. Stationary
Fuel pump runs all night drains battery and later vehicle stalls and cranks but doesn't start
Bad tipm module, had my fuel pump replaced and the battery and now the repair shop says the module is bad and it keeps turning the new fuel pump on and off and it will ruin both of those new parts if it is not fixed.all the chrysler and dodge trucks have had a recall on this, why not the dodge vans.this is very unsafe.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the passenger side sliding door was unable to be locked either manually or by using the fob. Additionally, the driver's side sliding door seized in the lock position and was unable to be unlocked. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 151,000.
2013 dodge grand caravan.consumer writes in regards to door lock actuator failed on the passenger side sliding door.the consumer stated the door actuator failure, caused the battery to drain and was damaged to the point, where it had to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the rear driver side sliding door failed to open. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the power door lock actuator failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,600.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the rear passenger side door failed to latch. The failure occurred twice. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.
Transmission cooler lines leaking at crimp between hard and soft hose on the pressure line.55,000 miles on the vehicle.low grade leak that was coating transmission and leaving oil behind on the ground. Leak occurred anytime that the engine was running.not covered by warranty because it is not considered a mechanical issue under the powertrain warranty provisions.
Transmission on our 2013 dodge grand caravan failed while traveling on the freeway van would no longer accelerate.my wife had to coast to the center of the freeway and call for a tow truck.luckily neither my wife of the 3 children in our van were injured despite being in a potentially dangerous situation.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. While driving various speeds, the transmission would downshift or shift into neutral. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally. The failure recurred. In addition, while driving, the battery warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where a code red indicated a failure with the windshield wiper and the fuel pump. The contact called greenville chrysler jeep dodge at (903) 454-0283 (located at 5401 interstate hwy 30, greenville, tx 75402) and was informed that there was no recall associated with the vehicle. 2013 dodge grand caravan.consumer writes in regards to rear quarter vent window switch recall notices.the consumer was informed the parts were not available. Also, the vehicle was leaking transmission fluid.
While driving at a steady speed of about 25 mph, the transmission suddenly dropped to low gear reading '1' on the console. The engine raced. Later in the day this time at 35 mph the car did the same thing. Both instances caused car to shudder scared the driver. To get it back working right, she found she had to get off the road to put it into neutral, then back into gear. This creates a hazardous condition when moving in the flow of traffic.after this, the car was taken to a transmission shop for service. The shop was not able to duplicate the problem and no error codes were present. The shop recommended updating the flash memory in the transmission control module. This was done on 6/6/18 at the burlington dodge dealer.
2013 dodge caravan.consumer writes in regards to transmission problems.a few days after the vehicle was purchased, the consumer heard a noise coming from the transmission, while driving in economy mode. Also, the engine was changing into a faster gear while trying to drive in normal gear. The consumer returned the vehicle to the dealer on 2 separate occasions. The mechanics stated there was nothing wrong. The vehicle continued to act abnormal, with the gears changing to a faster gear, when it wasn't initiated. When the consumer left the dealer and turned onto a busy street, the van appeared to leave driving gear, with the motor racing and would not move until the engine was turned off and back into drive gear again. The consumer returned to the repair shop again, only to be told his wife did not know how to drive. The consumer stated the transmission would slip out of gear, but no one could duplicate the problem. On 2 occasions, while the cruise control was set, the vehicle went to passing gear for no reason.it also happened when the vehicle was not set on cruise control. A year later, the problems continued. The vehicle accelerated on its own, the vehicle slowed down to 25 mph, the consumer had to push the accelerator to the floor, before it would change speed using the passing gear.

Having transmission problem. Took it to a tranny shop they said i need a new tipm. I called local dodge store and they said it cost $965 new and it is back ordered. Dodge has had this problem for years with their tipm's and this should of been recalled a long time ago. Vehicle stalls at all speeds and could cause a problem or death.
This vehicle has 61000 miles and check engine light came on. Took to dealer and torque converter lock up is out on the vehicle. Also on fron to hood there is rust deposit under paint. I have seen this on several dodge grand caravans in same place.
Yellow engine light came on.2013 dodeg grand caravan driven at 30-40 mph.obd ii code p07040 - tcc value high.102,555 miles.torque converter rpm does not match transmission.slippage most likely due to clutch.no significant symptoms.occasional glitch on starting to move forward.told repair to torque converter, clutch and transmission. Added xmission s/w needed update and xmission filters needed replacement. Both with extra charge.(fortunately i had lifetime warrantee - $100 deductible - whew).total charge - deductible, s/w update, and filters =$250.
Hi,i was traveling on highway and at about 45 mph the rpm's ramped up to 5+ and van had no additional power and i coasted off the highway.i was recently informed i need to have my transmission replaced at a cost of $4,286.70 and was reaching out to you for consideration of any warranty extension as i only have 110k miles on our family van. This estimate is probably higher than what one of your dealerships can offer.while these are very challenging times for many i was hoping dodge can offer brand loyalty coverage (3rd dodge product we've purchased) as you were kind enough to do last year with a problem we had. Any financial assistance would be greatly appreciated. I will be sending an email to the corporate office and look forward to a response.thank you![xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My 2013 dodge grand caravan was purchased new during feb. Of 2013.shortly after the purchase of this vehicle i noticed that the transmission was slipping.the transmission then started to go into manual mode for no reason.i have also been driving and the van loses all power to the front wheels.all of the problems listed happen intermittently.during the first four trips to multiple dodge dealerships they stated they could not reproduce the problem and no errors were showing up in the computer.when the next incident occurred i video taped it.on the fifth trip to the dodge dealership they agreed there was a problem after reviewing the video.the dealership again worked on my van but they could not find the problem.the dealership did change the shifter to see if that would take care of the issue.it didn't.the van now has 11000 miles on it and i have been forced to file under the lemon laws because chrysler has failed to take care of the problem.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times because it drastically reduced speed without warning. The rpms increased at a high rate of speed. The dealer replaced the torque converter on the first visit. During the second visit, the dealer replaced the bearing along with the transmission assembly. The contact noticed that a noise progressed shortly after the repair and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. The contact was waiting for a response from the manufacturer to determine if they could provide a repair solution to the dealer to prevent the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. While driving 40 mph, there was abnormal grinding noise detected and vehicle failed to accelerate. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 96,000.
When i bought my vehicle it was okay then when i started driving it more and more i decided that i wanted to stop i felt like it was going to accelerate and stop on its own and it fell as if it was driving by itself i took it back to the dealership and they said there's no problem with it that's the way the vehicle was manufactured but it felt as if it was changing gears on its own and it is a minivan with no stick so i was figuring that there is something really wrong with it after readingthe reviews i come to the configuration that i am not the only one dealing with the same problem i've had the vehicle now for over a year and feel the same issue and the vehicle i started to make weird noises underneath the hood and i'm not sure what it is it is still covered under manufacturer warranty but i'm not too sure for how much longer or if i could even pick up the cost if it was to break down i am terribly disappointed in my purchase and will not buya dodge again totally disappointed.
Placed vehicle in park and the transmission showed it was in reverse.tried shifting to another gear and vehicle remained in reverse.placed in park vehicle started revving up. Turned off vehicle.vehicle started once after three hours and you could drive it, but as soon as you placed it in park the vehicle revved up to 1500 rpms. Had to turn off and could never start vehicle again.two weeks and certified dealers can't find problems. Escalated to fca for assistance.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle hesitated before the rpm revved up and the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was towed to jt jeep dodge located at 4838 sunset blvd, lexington, sc 29072, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there was metal shavings found in the transmission and that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The day i picked up this new 2013 dodge grand caravan se/avp (6-8-13) i noticed a noise upon deceleration, just before stopping; and also when on a neighborhood street and going 15 to 20 mph.as best i can describe it, it sounds like a turkey call coming from the area in front of the driver. If car is shifted into neutral the noise stops. Drove car for 500 miles hoping noise would stop, then brought it to dealer.dealer calls it a "flutter"call it what you want, they checked everything over under the hood and could not find anything.they said they would refer it to chrysler.i filed a complaint with chrysler.since the first time, car has been back to dealer two more times.last time chrysler told them to replace the throttle body.this did not work.so now they are just guessing. I asked chrysler to send a factory man to check it out, they said they can't do that, they have to work with the dealer.i've asked them for a "loner" car but they refused saying my car is still drivable.dealer says they can do nothing more until they hear from chrysler.i bought this van to take things to virginia this summer and to florida this winter.i have no confidence in it for a long trip.i cancelled my virginia trip and lost a night's deposit on a hotel room.i asked them to take the car back and give me another one, and of course they said no. This is probably going to end up via the lemon law in court.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. While driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked and stalled without warning. The contact also stated that the vehicle would not start without warning. After multiple incorrect diagnostics, the contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with a faulty totally integrated power module and estimated the repair to cost $1,500. The contact spoke with honda of the avenues (11333 philips hwy, jacksonville, fl 32256, (904) 370-1300) and was referred to jacksonville chrysler dodge jeep ram arlington (9600 atlantic blvd, jacksonville, fl 32225, (877) 677-5782). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator would not illuminate when an occupant was present in the passenger's seat. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who informed the contact that the senor would not function unless the occupant was positioned correctly in the seat. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 11,600.
The drivers seat belt does not retract and hangs limp today. The problem happend a couple times, but seatbelt retracted and then i notified dealer in late december after another occurrance in which thay determined the seatbelt was defective.by not retracting and they ordered a replacementseat belt. The seat belt is in and it is just a matter of getting to service, but in the meantime, i experienced a rear collision when parked with defective seat belt on and wish i had a non-defective seat belt on. I will ask for the seat belt part back if you would like to examine it. I need a bumper too but they can keep that!
My wife and daughter were driving in our 2013 dodge grand caravan when the passnger headrest deployed and hit my daughter in the back of the head. This happened while the car was in motion.*dtthe consumer stated the plastic that holds the pin of the headrest failed. The pin was still latched to the headrest.
Both front headrest restraints deployed when car was parked. They are defective and dangerous and dodge has not recalled them for the 2013 dodge grand caravan
The headrest deployed while the vehicle was parked and occupied. The driver was sitting in the seat and hit by the headrest. If he had been leaning back, it was likely forceful enough to cause a head or neck injury. If we had been driving it was distracting and startling. It easily could have caused a crash. I have reported this to mopar, and i will be taking it to a dodge repair shop for inspection and replacement. They stated they were aware of the issue and they sent out letters. They were aware i never received one, they said due to not having my address, though i have received other communication from dodge. I know of 2 other dodge owners whose vehicles are in the affected group according to mopar, and neither has received notification of this potential malfunction. There was absolutely no indication there was anything wrong with the headrest prior to smacking the driver in the head.
One day, i found my drivers seat head rest had come opened. When looking to see what caused this, it said that you were rear ended? i was not rear ended! now my air bag light is on? i had ask a dodge dealer about it , and he said that it would cost a thousand dollars to fix it?when reading about the recalls on it, i read where the clips are breaking. Making the head rest to come open, and the air bags not working? please can you help me with this problems? i don't feel that it is my fault? thank you [xxx]redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cc
Driver's side active-restraint headrest deployed (popped open) while car was at rest with engine off. Internal inspection showed broken plastic inside headrest. Car was stationary; engine was off when active-restraint headrest deployed. Dealer said cost to replace was approximately $900. Recall for same issue on other makes/models by chrysler/dodge. Apparently not for 2013 dodge grand caravan (yet).
While getting my father-in-law situated in the van when leaving physical therapy is when we noticed what has happened with this headrest.
Driver's headrest popped while vehicle was stopped.caused pain and suffering for driver... Had to seek medical help (chiropractor).dodge refused to pay for replacement for this safety device.
Takata recall.... The headrest on the passenger seat deployed on it's own without an accident occurring.to the best of my knowledge, the vehicle was stationary.
While driving down the interstate the passenger side head rest deployed. There was a passenger in the seat at the time but was not hit by the head rest.
Driving on 6/22/20 on highway, going 70 mph, when driver side headrest popped open. There was nothing near it (except my husband's head) when it popped.
Both of my front seats' headrests have deployed (at separate times), when the vehicle was unoccupied, sitting parked in my driveway.the plastic clip that holds the mechanism closed wore out and cracked open, releasing the headrest.i called the dealership, because this was clearly a defect. They said the entire seat needed to be replaced it estimated $900.
Driving on highway car in motion when passenger headrest deployed hitting passengers head pushing them into dashboard. Taken to addys dodge and was told it was broke and needed a new headrest for $790.00 that headrest was not under warranty and asked for $ 98.00 for there inspection
The headrest of my 2013 dodge caravan deployed with no warning. It was front passenger headrest . We were going at approx. 15 mph. My son was in the front passenger seat and out of no where, the headrest deployed.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. While the contact's wife attempted to load the vehicle, her right elbow hit the headrest. Suddenly, the headrest popped out without warning. The contact stated that the headrest popped out on one other occasion. The vehicle was taken to cerritos dodge chrysler jeep ram (18803 studebaker rd, cerritos, ca 90703 (562) 402-5335), but the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
Vehicle was parked on level surface after car wash when i opened the door to exit the vehicle the head restraint safety device malfunctioned and popped open. I noticed the black plastic clips that hold the restraint to the metal pin were broken, most likely caused from excessive strain over time.
2013 dodge caravan driver side head test deployed for no reason when my brother from out of town took my children to the school bus stop this morning august 20th 2019 no accident have pictures of deployed headrest on driver seat have pictures of passengers headrest is fine have pictures of front and back of vehicle showing no damage. *dt *dt *dt*dtconsumer stated daren drinski was injured while taking my children to school 8-20-19 roughly 6:30a.m.it deployed hitting him in the head. Which caused him to have a severe headachethrowing up yesterday. He finally fell asleep roughly 3:00am this morning 8-21-19 wokeup few hours later still with a headache feeling nauseous and neck hurting so bad he couldbarely get out of bed. He went to the emergency room this morning8-21-19. He has now missed 2 days of work. Is not being released at the soonest 8-24-19.may need to follow up with primary doctor if still having pain. The emergency roomsaid he had cervical sprain neck contusion.we did contact dodge themselves which was such a rude misinformation rightfully a run around circus. I've spoken with chris 8-20-19 who took the initial report to send to special investigations department. Chris said i would receive a phone call by this morning 8-21-19.'parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'
Passenger headrest deployed without impact to vehicle. Inspection of headrest appears the the plastic structure holding retaining pin has failed, deploying headrest.i believe this happened with the vehicle parked in driveway.
Air bag light goes on and off like ther is someone in passenger seat when empty, car turns air bag on and off by weight.doesnt work properly. In 2011 recall on same vehicle for bad havac causing leak. This stops heating systom from working properly and air bag not to work . My 2013 doing same but know recall.does all the time.
The driver's active head restraint seems to have been deployed spontaneously.i did not witness the occurrence, i noticed the headrest when entering my vehicle one morning.my 2013 dodge grand caravan has not been involved in any sort of collision.i am unable to find any recall information for this occurrence, and i believe that there should be a recall placed for this by chrysler.
The drivers side headrest spontaneously exploded while the vehicle was stationary. After getting off work i got in my vehicle which was parked in a parking lot, luckily i took a moment to make a phone call while still parked, as i bent forward to find my phone the headrest exploded, thankfully not hitting me in the head.
While driving on the highway at around 60 mph, my headrest deployed. I did not use the brakes, and was not involved in any sort of accident, including a rear end accident, which is when this is supposed to happen. When this happened, it smacked into the back of my head. The surprise and pain of this hitting the back of me head randomly while driving could have caused an accident.i was traveling around other vehicles. The plastic tabs inside are snapped and there is no way to put it back together without a repair or replacement.the part obviously failed.there was no reason for this to happen and i have seen many complaints online of this happening to chrysler minivans and suvs. The passenger side headrest did not deploy, which i believe is further evidence that it did not function as intended.if i had been involved in a rear end accident, they both should have deployed, as my husband was sitting in the passenger seat. There should be a recall on this part as it could cause an accident and is very costly to repair. I'm including pictures of the deployed headrest, the passenger one that is still together, and the rear of my vehicle to show there was no accident. Thank you.
Passenger headrest deployed while driving on a city street.
Headrest on passenger side front seat burst when brushed against when someone was getting into the parked van.
The passenger seat headrest deployed, the passenger was adjusting the seat to move back and adjusting the angle of the seat. There was no car accident to activate this action.it was startling to hear this and see this.it is highly defective in it's activision mechanism.the dealer wants to charge to fix this in the $1000.i see no logical reason for the head rest and now i can see if it deployed on the driver's seat, causing an accident.*dtconsumer stated head rest has not been repaired.
I was driving on city street at approximately 40 mph. The engine unexpectedly shut down and i lost power steering and power brakes, nearly losing control of the vehicle.the road was flat and straight, clear weather conditions.i am concerned that this is related to the recall r03 (formerly l25): ignition switch may turn off safety problem on other chrysler/dodge models.this is extremely dangerous and needs to be addressed immediately.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. While driving at approximately 50 mph, the brake pedal was applied and the vehicle shook violently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,372.

Left year brake caliper seized, causing the wheel to overheat. Occurred at 34,000 miles. Repair costs were $600. Within two weeks it happened again, same wheel. Normal driving conditions.
Pulling onto the freeway the engine shut off and even with the key in the on position the power steering and brakes were not available. I reached about 5000 rpms when the engine shut off and there is no check engine light.the van will try to turn over for about 5 seconds aftee i stop trying to get it to start.
There is not enough room, top to bottom, to safely accept a men's us size 11.5shoe.with my heel planted on the floor, i am unable to freely pivot my foot from the the gas pedal to the brake and back again.the top of my shoe gets firmly stuck trying to move between the two pedals.if not completely stuck, my foot motion is impeded and slowed down in many other ways.only, with a lot of thought and adjustment of my foot and heel position am i able to operate the brake and accelerator at all.this low foot clearance significantly lowers my response time when i need to hit the brake in an emergency.it requires a lot of extra thought under normal driving conditions as well, taking attention away from the road.this has never been an issue (or even a thought) in many years of driving several other makes and models of vehicles.i own a 1999 grand caravan that has plenty of foot room in it.nobody should have to think about how they need to specially positron their foot to operate the brake or accelerator.for safe driving, reaction time is everything.dodge has designed this vehicle with cramped foot-room that can drastically reduce the time it takes to activate the brake and could cause an accident that a freely available brake pedal may have avoided. I had the identical problems testing a newer dodge charger and a chrysler town and country.i am making the assumption that this cramped and unsafe design is a standard that covers many chrysler makes and models.this issue affects all driving conditions especially starting and stopping the vehicle.see 5 pictures with a size 11.5 shoe shown.pics 1-3 show the brake position and how the vehicle does not allow me to pivot back any farther from to brake.the gas position shows a natural pivot position when going from the gas to the brake.the foot is stuck there.this is very dangerous.
Front brakes are wearing out unusually fast,(not lasting a year), electrical outlets stopped working briefly, driver's side electric window does not work consistently
The dodge grand caravan is made with brakes that are too small for a large vehicle. This causes the brakes to wear out more quickly than they would wear out if the van was equipped with proper size brakes for its weight. The dodge mini van uses brakes that cars 1/2 the weight of the van use. I believe this is done intentionally by the manufacturer so the brakes wear out quickly and need replacement more often than they should be replaced if the vehicle was equipped properly.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle vibrated and the brakes seized. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rotors were deteriorating and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000. The vin was not available.
I had my brakes changed in january with 49,000 miles and by june i had to take my van back in and pads were completely gone.so in 10,000 miles i went through brake pads that should of lasted 50,000+ miles.i had all rotors and front pads changed since the back were still good from january and its been 2 weeks now and my brakes are squealing almost constantly when i am braking...not grinding yet but i am sure thats coming soon!
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. While driving approximately 35 mph and attempting to apply the brakes, one of the brake pads fractured and caused the rear driver side tire to lock up. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact removed the wheel in order to release the tire and noticed that the brake pad was completely fractured. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the brake pads and rotors. The failure recurred one year later. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake pads needed to be replaced and protected by a caliper adapter to avoid uneven wearing of the pads. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000....updated 01/23/17
Van has died twice while driving it, everything shuts down. It acts like it wants to crank but it won'thave to hard reset it to get it to crank.
After fueling van completely the engine stalls numerous time until the fuel gauge drops down about 1/8th below the full mark. This has actually happened many times in the last six to eight months and it always happens right after fueling to completely full. This happened most recently in a busy intersection with an elderly lady in the back.
Airbags lights keep going on and off.the vehicle stalled out during moving and the steering locked up.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel seized and the engine stalled. All the warning lights illuminated for a second before the failure. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was back to normal. All the warning lights illuminated for a second prior to the failure. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-992-1997 and was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer asked the contact to take the vehicle to another dealer. A case number 32337129 was provided. The vehicle was towed to the dealer precision chrysler jeep dodge ram located at 1341 nj-23, butler, nj 07405; (973) 838-6808 where the vehicle was tested and the failure did not recur. For the last few years the van just turns off while we are driving it. Completelyturns off- we could be driving on a side street or going 75 mph on a highway. It's terrifying. We've tried to have it checked and fixed but it doesn't show up in the codes when the mechanic checks it. This is a terrible safety hazard.
Pulling onto the freeway the engine shut off and even with the key in the on position the power steering and brakes were not available. I reached about 5000 rpms when the engine shut off and there is no check engine light.the van will try to turn over for about 5 seconds aftee i stop trying to get it to start.

Vehicle seized up and stalled during driving.previous cranks but won't start1 year many times. Did a relay bypass wire to start vehicle. Transmission problems and not acceleration.
2013 dodge grand caravan.consumer writes in regards to spoiler piece on top of rental vehicle flew off while driving.
Driver's side rear passenger automatic door will not open. The locking mechanism seems to be frozen and i cannot open it using the key fob, manually, or with the button in the driver's area. I cannot access my children from the exterior of the car unless i use the other side door. This is a serious safety hazard, especially if we were in a vehicle accident any rear passenger could get trapped inside. This is apparently a known common problem and should be addressed with a safety recall.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. After attempting to open the driver's side sliding door, the door could not be opened from inside or outside the vehicle. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. A local unknown dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 199,000.
Passenger side sliding door will not unlock. Is closed and will not open using any means. It is locked shut. Power lock, key fob, and interior lock mechanism will not open door. This is dangerous in the event rear passengers need to exit vehicle. Will not unlock with engine running or off, parked, moving or at any time. The sliding door will not unlock. No crash.
The driver's side passenger sliding door is stuck closed and in the locked position. I cannot unlock the door in anyway possible not the remote, over head button, driver's door button or manually with my finger. I have five children and i feel this is a complete safety hazzard i have searched the web for diy info and found at least 60 other people with the exact same problem. I feel with the risk of children being stuck in the vehicle this should be a safety recall. The locking mechanism is faulty
Driver's rear, manual, sliding door just stopped working. It will not unlock or open from inside or out.
I was at a stop sign on the corner of ferry and eighth in niles, mi getting ready to turn northbound; a truck was going southbound and it was blizzard and icy conditions out, he was going to fast and when i turned right, he hit me on the drivers side spun my vehicle around twice and ended up hitting both sides of the vehicle in the front of the van taking the whole front end off.neither air bags went off and my granddaughter was also in the front passenger seat.he was going fast enough that i ended up northbound kitty corner across the road and he ended up in a telephone pole.both of his airbags went off in his truck upon impact.the bumper, headlights, frame was bent, the hood, the whole front end was smashed, (over $8000 of damage), but no airbags.i could feel the impact from the crash and ended up having to have physical therapy and my granddaughter had to go to the er..both vehicles had to be towed.i had the van fixed at a licensed shop, when i called and asked dodge why neither airbag deployed, because they stated that their are sensors that go off on impact and my bumper had to be replaced, they stated, no reply, because i had not had it done at a dodge dealership.i am still having therapy for hip and back from impact and settled with insurance.i'm just wondering why the airbags did not go off on impact, other vehicle was going faster than what he should have for conditions and more than 25.
The sliding door on drivers side no longer opens. The handle moves but doesn't seem to latch or unlatch. Door inoperable in closed position. It will not open at all from outside or inside the vehicle. It is not a power door, manual only. It just wouldn't open one day, without warning, around may 21, 2019. I hear of many others having same problem with their dodge grand caravan. Please initiate a recall, as this is not only an expensive repair, but more importantly a safety issue for exiting the vehicle in an emergency.
The contact rented a 2013 dodge grand caravan. When opening the driver's side rear sliding door (either with the car key or by pulling on the door handle), after the door reaches its fully open position, it sometimes immediately begins to close again.pressing the door opening switch on the b pillar does not stop the door from closing.only an adult's force against the door stops it from fully closing.this creates an extreme risk of injury to children who are most likely to be using the rear seats.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the subframe was rusted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the subframe needed to be welded and replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Power sliding door frozen in locked position.will not open using inside or outside door handle, key fob, center control consle switch or side pillar switch.manual door lock slide in inside handle not moving.completely unable to use door to enter or exit vehicle.potential for trapping rear passengers inside vehicle in case of crash or fire. Gas tank cover door closed so it is not keeping the left side door from opening.car was parked when problem appeared. No physical damage to door either interior or exterior.
Recall #p25 was issued 06/011/2014, over 14 months later nothing has been done & i see no progress towards being done.can anyone get chrysler to make & ship parts required to guarantee that there will be no fire in drivers door?i have contacted chrysler & my dealer numerus times and all i get is "wait".
This vehicle has 61000 miles and check engine light came on. Took to dealer and torque converter lock up is out on the vehicle. Also on fron to hood there is rust deposit under paint. I have seen this on several dodge grand caravans in same place.
The sliding door suddenly quit working. It is locked but will not unlock electronically or manually. The door cannot be opened at all. Worked fine when entering the vehicle but wouldn't open when trying to exit.
Hit a deer right before colorado border in nebraska.
Rear drivers sliding door buzzes and remains in a locked position. This happens when using the fob too.the van automatically locks when you reach about 25 mph.most of the time i get a loud buzzing from that door when it does. Sometimes you can manually unlock it but most times not.i have read more people than me are having this issue with a range of years for the dodge caravan.i have my grandson with me most of the time and that is the seat he is in.my concern is if there is an accident and the door can be unlocked then what?i truly there is a big safety issue going on with these vehicles.please investigate.

Wheelchair-accessible conversion by fr conversions includes a repositioned rear suspension panhard rod, the sole lateral stability link for the axle. The repositioned chassis mounting bracket for the panhard rod separated from the van in a straight-road single vehicle highway rollover crash. Evidence currently supports that this bracket mounting (welded to the conversion's sheet metal) may have partially failed prior to the rollover crash. The loss of function of a panhard rod reduces vehicle controllability. This complaint submitted by a third party not involved with the incident.

2013 dodge grand caravan: many problems have to do with failure of two very important software updates not being completed through an actual recall by chrysler. Nhtsa investigated tipm-7 which resulted in inconclusive findings; nhtsa needs to reopen investigation. My car has three defects: two defects are due to software updates that were never performed. No recall by chrysler either. The power control module defect was outlined in customer satisfaction notification m38: january 2013. Vehicle history shows no update. The 'poor automatic transaxle shift quality' is due to the software not being updated. Also had to replace transmission.the battery dying three times and being replaced twice over 6-month period is due to the fold and stow module (fsm). Chrysler communicated in a bulletin that the fsm needed to be updated with new software otherwise a dead battery would result due to the fsm 'stay[ing] awake' (dated april 23, 2014). Vehicle history does not show software had been updated.the 3rd issue: engine stall has occurred in dodge grand caravans 2008-2014. Nhtsa investigated the totally integrated power module (tipm) from september 25, 2014 to july 24, 2015: 'the petitioner alleges that tipm defects may result in engine stall [...]" on september 25, 2014, the office of defects investigation (odi) opened dp14-004 to evaluate the petition [...].' the findings were 'the most common effect of this defect condition, related to the fuel pump relay, was a no-start concern, but it could also result in stall while driving (76 complaints). Overall, my battery died three times in a 6 month period (fsm), the car does not shift into a higher gear (pcm) on a daily basis, and finally, the car stalled and the power steering locked up (tipm). These cars not only have one defect, but in large part, depending on the year of your vehicle, they have three defects!!!

The vans engine shuts off when coming to a stop, this has happened over a dozen times. The mechanic can find nothing wrong because no codes or light come on. This is a huge problem.
First winter in montana for us in this van. Now the weather is turning warm. The first time we used the air conditioner and there was a problem. The passenger side air does not switch to cold air. This half blows hot, hot air at the same time the drivers side blows cold air. I see there has been a recall on 2014 and 2012. Diagnostic so far will cost $75.00.
The vehicle will stall while i am driving on the highway. It has happened more time than i can count. Initially i was told it might be an electrical issue, so they changed the spark plugs. The car died again, had to get towed to the mechanic again. This time they said it might be the batteries. I changed the batteries. Then it died again, they said it might be the computers, mind you this is a 2013 brand new vehicle, i am changing the computer system in 2017 even though it had over 115000 at this point. I authorized them to keep the vehicle and put as much miles on it until the problem replicated itself. They had it for over 2 months. I got it back in and it died on my way to work again. This time i went to a different mechanic who is not the dealer. They said it was the fuel pump. I changed the fuel pump, the vehicle worked for 1 and a half weeks before it died on me again this week on my way to work. I have changed most if not all parts of my frankenstein vehicle, which mind you is only 4 years old. At this point i am so frustrated i don't know what to do. I have spent over $5000 fixing my vehicle with no guarantee that she will not break down. I have contacted capitalone auto finance and explained that i cannot afford to keep paying for a car that i am not using. I called dodge to report the issue and they said they cannot help me. At this point i am getting ready to file a lemon law complaint and using social media to voice my concerns until my issue is resolved.
I have been on a waiting list since first notified of this recall. The switch had been disconnected when i first took it to the dealership but i have yet to have the repair completed.
My vehicles automatic locks are malfunctioing.passenger back sliding door does not lock at all. Drivers side sliding back door does not open because its stuck in loxked position. Drivers side window geys stuck open.
2013 dodge grand caravan, driver side sliding door actuator failure. Sliding door will no longer open.approximate mileage is 43,000 miles.
My van just shut off while driving.there was no warning.it just stopped working.fortunately, i was in my neighborhood and not going fast.i was able to stop the van and put in park and start it again without difficulty .i have read online that dodge knows this is a problem.this needs to be a mandatory recall.
While i am driving my car if i hit a bump and the key moves slightly the car will shut off and if i touch the key accidentally the car will shut off the mechanic set i need a new ignition switch
Both keys stopped working when van was under warranty, one key has stopped working again, key won't unlock van. Are defective keys a common problem?
My passenger sliding door in a permanent locked position. I am not able to even manually open the door. This is security issue.
Driver's side manual sliding door won't open.lock won't move.worked one day and hasn't since
I bought my vehicle in may 2016. The miles on the vehicle were 50,000. My current miles are 93,000. I noticed it was not safe to drive when going downhill after this recent incident . I dont usually go uphill or downhill where i live and commute! one day i had went to oakland to help give a ride thats when i noticed it was unsafe. I was driving downhill when suddenly the van would jolt and stop then go it would repeat this all the way down for 4 min. It was really scary once i got back on even level pavement it stopped after i put the vehicle in park. Vehicle was in motion and in drive in the oakland hills i felt i had no control of my car it was a hill that had some mild turns but the hill was steep. I was not driving fast, i was only going 30 miles per hour. I had no brake problems before or after just during this road. I took the van to two different mechanics saying the transmission is going out. I only had this van technically for 43,000 miles. I even found out that it had a recall before i bought it in 2014 of something else. The dealership that sold me the vehicle didnt make sure that recall was fixed in 2014. I bought this car in 2016!! this vehicle was used!! i wish we had test drived this car on a hill first!! im paying 19,000 for this car i even went a had to fix the heater core that also went out.. I often service it!! i have no photos to take like how? i am working on getting down to a dodge dealership to have them take a better look at it!! its so much money for something i thought would be reliable.
We had experienced cold air coming from hvac in winter and recently had hot air coming on while using the ac.there was recall for 2014but not 2013.i have requested dodge pay for the repairs as i have already paid to have it diagnosed. We are unable to adjust the hvac system temps and was advised i need a blend door actuator that should be covered under x64 warranty extension.i would expect dodge to pay for this. They wanted me to get it diagnosed at a dealership (i paid $75 to have it diagnosed) for 4124 then they would consider paying repairs; made no sens to me.recall 24-005-16 should be extended to cover my 2013. Please provide dodge corporate office contact info if you could.i would appreciate whatever can be done to get this fixed.blend door actuator is in need of repair and i feel as though i should not have to pay for it.thank you![xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The back passenger sliding door makes a loud buzzing noise when opened and closed.
2013 caravan just dies while driving. No warning just quits. Pull to the side of road in traffic have to turn off and restart.this is very serious has done several times. Cant find a recall im sure there has been injuries or even deaths from this. No recall really? i have read hundreds of complaints on this
Bad tipm module, had my fuel pump replaced and the battery and now the repair shop says the module is bad and it keeps turning the new fuel pump on and off and it will ruin both of those new parts if it is not fixed.all the chrysler and dodge trucks have had a recall on this, why not the dodge vans.this is very unsafe.
Sliding door get stuck in a locked position and cannot open. Fob doesn't work or manual lock doesn't work.
Loud clicking noise coming from the dashboard area behind the steering wheel.sounds has gotten worse or more within the last week.the clicking noise comes on when i lock the vehicle with key remote and without the key in the ignition.clean the battery post and had the battery check, both are good.i like my van but this clicking noise is annoying and i'm hoping the dealer ship figures out why the clicking noise is coming from.
According to the dodge dealer that is handling the car there is a defect with the typun <the way it was explained it's the brain that reads the key> i believe that being it's not a problem that's related to wear and tear. Then it should be considered a recall and not a out of pocket expense.
Bought car 2013 may, took back twice to dealer due to van stuttering, car staying on same speed,( i'm not pressing the pedal) car turning off when i use automatic starter and place the key in the ignition. Dealer found nothing wrong with it and told me it must have been a fluke. A while later we move to california took car for tire rotation explain to dealer radio was shutting off and popping noise coming from it hot to touch, again till dealer about the gear sticking when i'm driving in the van running hard do you have found nothing. Took another two times to the dealer after words with the same issues till finally dealer phone number for uconnect helpline they requested dealer to keep the car for the 4th time of the month of may this year provide a rental car. They continues to be in the dealership now for 2 weeks. They finally found the problem with the radio(2 years it took. Radio over heating) and replacing it and continue trying to figure out what is wrong with the gears, why van run. Van has another frint wheel problem too. My issue has been sent out to the resolution center for chrysler dodge. My case manager advised me to trade in my van. I thought that was an acceptable resolution for me. The van continues to be at dealer they are trying to fix it they don't know what's wrong with it.ythe van is unsafe to drive it stays on the same speed no matter what you do after a long drive you push the accelerator you let go of the accelerator and it stays on 55 or hight speed no matter what. Been complaining about this issue for 2 years. Resolution found a manager stated to me that the van is under warranty and they will try to continue to fix it. I stated to known that the vans and lemon and unsafe to drive it they do not see it that way
I have been trying to get the recall fixed for my car for 2 years now and tobin dodge will not fix it!
When i was driving my car and coming to a stop the engine would suddenly shut off. All lights would remain on but my power steering would go away and the rpm's would drop to 0. When i would try to start it after pulling over (manually cranking the steering wheel) the car would turn over, start, and then shut off immediately. Then randomly, usually after 15 minutes, the car would start up like normal and stay on without incident. This happened twice within 5 minutes of each incident.
My family was leaving a celebration of life her ein elk grove. And we were in the parking lot of project ride where our vehicle wasstationary at the time of malfunction. My husband had loaded the stroller into the trunk and the baby into the van. When he shut the trunk, the lift arm on thethe passenger side on the vehicle popped off and closed between the galas and the van, causing a huge bang and glass shooting out everywhere at my husband and exploding into the car where my baby was rear facing at the time. It caused damageto the lift arm, shattered my entire back window, and dented the back side of the body. I was in complete disbelief this happened. Luckily two women where walking by and saw the entire thing happen. One of them works for the bar and told me thatthis should never happen and i needed to report this to you guys.
Riders side headrest has popped forward while driving on highway. Did not hit a bump or any object as the active head restraint deployed on its own. No one was hurt luckily but could have been another neck injury.

Van has died twice while driving it, everything shuts down. It acts like it wants to crank but it won'thave to hard reset it to get it to crank.
After fueling van completely the engine stalls numerous time until the fuel gauge drops down about 1/8th below the full mark. This has actually happened many times in the last six to eight months and it always happens right after fueling to completely full. This happened most recently in a busy intersection with an elderly lady in the back.

The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that there was too much space between the accelerator and the brake pedal, causing his foot to continuously become trapped between both pedals when changing from one to the other. The manufacturer was notified who advised the contact that the accelerator pedal and the brake pedal were within specifications and conformed to the nhtsa regulations. The contact stated that he filed a complaint with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 204....updated 01/23/13updated 2/4/2013
The contact owns as 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, the vehicle accelerated and decelerated independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer multiple times and they were unable to duplicate the failure and stated that the vehicle was up to standard. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 200. The current mileage was 12,900.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle became extremely hot and the window failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the rear window switches on both sides were removed. The remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The contact received a recall notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v234000 (electrical system) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 17,000.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the heating system failed and the driver's side vents produced cold air. The vehicle was taken to gandrud dodge chrysler jeep (2300 auto plaza way, green bay, wisconsin 54302, 920-468-1212) where it was diagnosed that the front and rear passenger actuators failed. The front actuator was replaced, but the rear actuator was not. The manufacturer stated that the 2013 dodge grand caravan was not included in the manufacturer warranted actuator replacement. The repair was only extended to the 2014 and 2015 dodge grand caravans. The contact wanted to provide the failed actuator heater (part number: 68299450aa). The failure mileage was 70,787.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a dealer to be serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 14v234000 (visibility, electrical system) however the part was not available. As a result, the dealer disconnected the vent window wires due to the part being unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. ..updated 12/11/14
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. While driving at 60 mph, windshield wipers failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wipers failed to pull enough am breach from the tipm. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,362.
When the foot ventilation button is selected with the inter circulationbutton pushed in the air condition comes on whether or not the cold or heat is selected but when you push any control button but feet the a/c goes off called dodge and they said this is normal only does it on the 2013.
At times when you turn the air on hot air comes outor when you turn the heat on cold air will come on even after turn it off and back on or shutting the vehicle off.the suspension rattles a lot when going over bumps.the engine runs rough and idles rough usually when it is cold out or rainy but not always. Stalls at red lights and the check engine light comes on until it runs better.
The contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. While the vehicle was turned on, the heater would not operate and the front windshield could not be defrosted, impairing the visibility of the driver. Thevehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000.
According to my safety recall...if your dealer fails or is unable to remedy this defect without charge and within a reasonable time, you may go to http://www.safercar.gov... So i am doing so because i feel it is not being done within a reasonable time.we contacted our dealer and we were not on the list in february so they added us and last week i called back and they said they haven't acquired any parts to make any fixes yet.the unfortunate part is we specifically purchased our vehicle with the intent to go on a family vacation and it sure would be nice to be able to crack the rear windows when you are going to be in florida in july. I believe it is unreasonable that at this time a year the problem was discovered in 2014 and they still don't have any parts.the parts department said they have no idea when the parts will be available.so to sum it up my complaint is they aren't handling the matter in a reasonable amount of time.
