Replaced battery and airbag light illuminated.the airbag fail light illuminates every time the car is started.

I have a 2006 dodge grand caravan vin# [xxx].the airbag warning light comes on and off.the car is no longer under warranty.i found a recall for this item but it does not include my state of fl.i am very concerned about my safety and of my kids.will i be able to take my vehicle in for the current recall?information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Air bag warning light is on.horn does not work.cruise works sometimes.diagnosis is clock spring.review of online info shows repeated clock spring recalls from late 1990s to early 2000s.vehicle has less than 37,000 miles on it.airbag is non-functional at this time, as is horn and cruise control, hence a safety issue.

I went in for my inspection sticker for my 2006 dodge grand caravan, it failed due to the airbag light being on.there are known issues with the airbag sensor, but mines not covered under the recall, but its the same issue.

2006 dodge grand caravan sxt 3.8 airbag sensor light on, but no deployment! same on my 2005 town & country van!!!!

Air bag sensor light keeps coming on, stays on, then goes off, then back on while driving.

I recently took my car in for an inspection sticker, but it failed due to the air bag sensor light being on.i looked under the recalls and their is a recall for this issue for the year and make of my car, but when i search the vin number it claims that my care is not included in the recall.can this be looked into so that my care cam be included and i can get the issues fixed.i had my inspection done on 3/2/18.

To whom this may concern:i spoke with a dodge customer service agent recently regarding an issue with my 2006 dodge grand caravan, which i feel should be covered under chrysler recall campaign j38 but, according to them, is not.the issue with my vehicle involves a cracked airbag sensor, which currently illuminates the airbag light and i suspect may not operate properly in a frontal crash.my local mechanic copied the recall notification for me and marked the information pertinent to my particular vehicle. He feels as though the necessary repairs to the airbag sensor should be covered under this recall campaign. According to the recall notification, ?2005-2006 dodge grand caravans built from january 19, 2005 through april 5, 2006? and originally sold or currently registered in certain states (to include pennsylvania) are involved in this recall.the airbag light initially came on after driving through standing water, but would go off after a period of time. The light is now on constantly.since my vehicle is currently registered in pennsylvania, one of the states listed on the recall notification, and was built in december 2005, i believe the repairs should be covered under this recall.since i purchased my vehicle used with 13,000 miles on it, i do not know where it was originally sold or registered.please contact me when you have reviewed this information and can give me your informed decision about the repairs to my vehicle and any concern you have about the safety of my vehicle.i appreciate your time and effort.

My 2006 model year dodge grand caravan has had the airbag light lit for several months now. The dodge dealership in my area claims there was a recall for 2005 model year only, despite the fact that the 2006 model grand caravan is virtually identical to the 2005 model vehicle.my vehicle developed this airbag problem when it was only 2 years old. This is a serious safety issue, given the fact that the airbags will not deploy in the event of a collision. It should be fixed at no cost to the consumer under a recall.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. While driving various speeds, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.

12-13-06 front car collusion with no air bag deployment. Approximate speed of vehicle less than 40 mph.approximately 24 inch intrusion into middle of the front of the car by passenger side fender area of car that caused collusion.damage to car will require complete replacement of existing air bag sensors.

2006 dodge grand caravan sxt..................airbag light on all the time.had to the dealer four times........last time they said they replaced a part.light came back on the next day and has been on ever since................severalmonths ago.am taking my grandchildren on a 2,000 trip june 1stand want it fixed by then, but looks like the recall won't even go out until june.from what i have read they have known about and were "investigating" this problem for several years.i have not had an accident, but if i do ..........i want the airbag to work properly!!!

The air bag light goes on and off periodically, both while driving and stopped, typically after a rain storm.

The contact owned a 2006 dodge grand caravan. While the contact's daughter was driving 35 mph, she crashed into another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy and the seat belts did not retract. As a result, the contact's daughter struck her head on the steering wheel. A police report was filed. The daughter sustained a head injury and was unconscious. Medical attention was required. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 128,000.

Lights go out when the rain gets up under the car from splashing on the road. You have to pull over to the side of the road, turn it off and turn it back on several times and it stays on for a short time. Procedure is repeated again. Only in rainy weather and oregon gets a lot of sporadic rain. Also, the ignition tends to turn the airbag lights on and off whenever i turn a corner left or right of hit a bump.

My 2006 grand caravan has had problems almost since i bought it in 2007 (it had 18,000 miles when i bought it). It now only has 68,000 miles on it. My drivers side electric door does not operate when it is warm outside (29,000 miles). The passenger side axle broke and had to be replaced (65,000 miles).when it rains my power steering goes out periodically (65,000 miles) .my engine light is on (haven't taken it in to check it yet) (66,000 miles)and now my airbag light is on (68,000 miles).also i have replaced the battery and still have problems starting it.it clicks clicks clicks like a hundred times then eventually it starts.

I was driving my 2006 dodge grand caravan se on the night of i02/11/2014 when a wrong-way driver hit me (head on collision). She turned right to get gasoline (note: not to avoid us, did not know she was going wrong way until we hit her), and we hit her side door, tire area, and the vehicle bounced backwards. I had to push off the steering wheel to prevent my head from going thru the windshield, my father who was the passenger, hit his arm off the dashboard. The air bags did not deploy, which was the issue. The manufacturer was contacted, they looked at the car and said nothing is wrong with it and that the car would have to be crushed for the air bags to deploy, the air bags have been recalled before, which is a concern to me. When looking at the vehicle dash board, it does not appear that there is even a passenger air bag in place. My bumper had damage, a long with my head light, along with my hood. I was traveling about 40mph in a 45mph zone, as we were slowing down at a red light and when it turned green again i continued on. We had injuries of our neck and back as well as the drivers left foot, my wrist hurt from time to time and still somewhat does, from pushing off the wheel.updated 06/03/14updated 06/06/2014

On 2/18/07 my 2006 dodge/chrysler minivan was repaired by replacing the front impact sensors that deploys the airbag system upon impact due to corrosion of the seals on the sensors and wiring.2005 models were recalled due to the same problem and it appears the problem is continuing into at least the 2006 models.please advise.

I was sitting at idle warming up my van and air bag light came on i tried clearing computer and light just came back on vehicle was stationary and has never been in an accident

My 2006 model year dodge grand caravan has had the airbag light lit for several weeks now.i am aware that there was a recall on models through the 2005 year but from what i can find on the internet chrysler will not replace the defective part on later models. This is a serious safety issue, given the fact that the airbags will not deploy in the event of a collision. It should be fixed at no cost to the consumer under a recall.

I have 2 2006 grand caravans, both with about 80k miles.both of the airbag lights came on at about the same time and they stay on.checking the internet, chrysler has issued recalls for over 300k 2005 and 2006 vehicles.i called chrysler and one of the cars is covered and the other is not.the vin is [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Driver side air bag warning light continually comes on for long and short periods of time. Most cases it stays on even after placing on seat belt. I believe the driver side air bag system is defective. This was on a previous recall a few years ago and corrected by the dodge dealership. However, this warning light continues to stay on for five minutes or more and than goes out.

Air bag light on,told air bag is not working with light on. Air bag sensor and wiring replaced to correct problem. Its not covered under warranty on a 2006 dodge grand caravan.

Airbag light indicating a system fault. 4/13/2010 dealer service dept, found failure of both front crash sensors and wiring connectors corroded. Both sensors and wiring needed replacement. Dealer advises they are not aware of any service bulletins or recall campaign for this problem.

2006 dodge grand caravan.consumer writes in regards to vehicle supplemental air bag sensor, which caused the air bag light to illuminate.the consumer stated the vehicle fit all the model specifications specified in the chrysler customer satisfaction notification j38. However, chrysler has not and will not include his vehicle in the recall. Chrysler was unable to explain, why his vehicle was not included in the recall.the consumer stated he purchased and installed the parts.

Car airbag light came on at about 68,000 miles once and then at 78,000 it came on and stays on all the time. This is my second 2006 dodge grand caravan and that one did the same thing. Had to get rid of it because of rust at 192,000 miles. Whenever i start up and drive, it is constantly on now. Never goes out.

Our air bag light comes on after repeated, exact turns of the steering wheel.has to do with the steering wheel clock spring.it only illuminates in temps over 70 degrees or so. We live in the desert of arizona and have been excluded in previous recalls.we are afraid the air bags will not work properly in the event of a crash.

Every time it rains or i take my car to the car wash the airbag light comes on. After a day or two it goes off. I took it to a mechanic who told me that my van had stored codes for ' no right front side impact sensor communication ' and 'right front impact sensor internal 1'. In researching this issue i discovered recall #10v008000 which covers 2005 and 2006 grand caravans and pretty much describes exactly what is happening to my van. However, when i contacted dodgei was told that my particular vin number is not covered under the current recall. I find it very strange that my van fits all of the parameters for the recall but is excluded.

The airbag sensor in my 2006 dodge grand caravan sxt continues to remain on.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan.while driving 45 mph, the contact had to make a sudden sharp turn and crashed into a tree head on.none of the air bags deployed.the contact injured her eye, nose, and fractured one of her ribs.the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer.a police report was filed.the vin was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 17,000.

I turned into a drive way and the car lost control. Breaks locked and i wouldn'tstop

The contact owns a 2008 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 14v373000 (air bags, electrical system) exceeded a reasonable time for repair. The contact received a recall notification in june of 2015; however, the dealer placed the contact on a waiting list and stated that the part was not available for repair. The dealer did not know when the part would be available. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was unknown. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Airbag indicator stays on.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan.the air bag warning light illuminated and would not turn off, which indicated that the air bag was deactivated.the vehicle was not inspected by the dealer.the current and failure mileages were 44,000.updated 3/11/08 updated 03/11/08

While returning from a trip, my drivers side air bag light on the gauge cluster on my 2006 dodge grand caravan sxt illuminated with out warning.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated and the front air bags deployed unexpectedly. As a result, the contact sustained minor injuries from the knee to the lower leg area. The air bag malfunction occurred without any impact to the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where an independent inspector examined the vehicle. The preliminary diagnostic report indicated that the failure was related to the electronic control module and was not due to a manufacturer's defect. Also, the computer detected that the air bag warning indicator illuminated for over two hundred and fifty driving hours. The contact stated that the warning light was illuminated for no longer than five minutes, and the information in the preliminary report was false, in regards to the operational hours of the air bag warning light. After three weeks, the vehicle was still in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was 55,000.uypdated 09/16/11updated 2/10/12

Back rear window imploded for the second time(first time 2009, second time 2010), nobody seems to have an answer for why this happens other than it was cold and snowy outside so the weather must have caused this to occur, (that is what they say)my family was in the van in the driveway getting ready to leave so i know for a fact that "nothing" went thru the window just a major defect of dodge.numerous issues with this van starting when van had 5000 miles, air bag sensor on, sliding doors do not work properly, loud sound from engine, tie rods need replaced for third time, control arm broke, locks make a whiny sound, check service engine light on told 3 times that we needed new spark plugs .really at 30,000 miles.we changed them, light still on today.after an inspection of van now dealer sates that the alternator, water pump, serpentine belt, egv valve, valve gasket, all needs replaced and the light on had nothing to do with spark plugs, go figure.ihave sent dealership and chrysler letters in regards to my safety concerns.this would be my fourth time calling chyrsler about major issues.they lack customer service and nothing ever done.we purchased new and van is now 5 years old with same and new problems since 5000 miles, now has 77,000.i will not be purchasing a dodge van again!!

2006 dodge grand caravan rear ended a car parked at the stop light.the airbags didn't deploy.the driver suffered injuries because her head hit the steering wheel.the crash was almost straight on. If the airbags would have deployed there would have not been any injuries like she is suffering now. There has never been any modifications made to the van, it is the same as when we bought it brand new.

On 6/27/11 the air bags deployed in our 2006 dodge grand caravan for no reason while the vehicle was being driven at about 25 mph. The driver had minor injuries. Chrysler has refused to repair the vehicle at their cost and have given us a repair quote of about $4000.00. Chrysler told us that the airbag warning light was on for 250 driving hours before the incident, but that is completely false. They will not release the report to us. At this point, the vehicle has not yet been repaired. After the incident, we were told about a previous airbag recall on some 2006 grand caravans. After the incident, the 2008 grand caravans were also recalled for unexpected airbag deployment.also the steering gear was leaking and had to be replaced. Also, the battery was replaced. Updated 10/25/11

The 2006 dodge grand caravan has 33,000 miles on it and had an airbag light come on. Thought the vehicle was still under warranty so brought it to a dealer for repair. The dealer said that the impact sensors had corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle's warranty had expired in november of 08. I felt that it was unusual for the sensors to go bad with so few miles that i started to inquire about it. I discovered nhtsa investigation number ea06003 and subsequent recall number 07v-192. These were not mentioned during the visit. I then had my fiance contact chrysler's customer service to report this and get the van fixed. When they were asked to fix the van they stated that they would not cover costs. I feel that the recall / problem poses a serious safety risk since the airbags are not functioning. It seems to me that the recall involves more vehicle than chrysler is owning up to, or they are not conforming to the original agreement in the action report mentioned above.

I own a 2006 dodge grand caravan sxt that i bought new. It has 54044 miles and the airbag warning light comes on the dash board. I researched the problem and found a recall for the airbag sensor dated 01/11/2010. I checked with dodge, was told that my vehicle was not part of the recall, even though i'm experiencing the same problem listed in the airbag recall dated 01/11/2010. I live in upstate new york. My vehicle is exposed to road salt due to the large volume of snow we receive here. I'm not sure why my vehicle isn't covered under this recall.

Passenger airbag warning light comes on periodically.

I have a 2006 dodge grand caravan sxt, red airbag light on the dash board and the dealer stated it was corroded terminals in connectors, needs right sensor and connector replaced.the vehicle has 38,706 miles on it.i see a new nhtsa action rq09003.the cost of fixing this was $114.34 and i want it back.no old parts are available since i didn't think of it when i got it fixed.

Airbag sensor in front of 2006 dodge grand caravan failed (warning light went on) and had to be replaced.mechanic said the sensor connections were corroded due to exposure to water.called dodge regarding current recall, which is for the exact same problem, but they say my vehicle isn't part of recall.

Passenger weight sensor defective causing air bag to be active when underweight person or light object in seat.air bag will discharge potentially causing injury to child or small adult or firing when not required.

The airbag light is on, i had it to a garage and they put it on there machine and determined it is the front sensor. I keep checking and they say this vehicle is not one of the 312 thousand that have the same problem.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The technicians stated that the air bag sensor was corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v008000 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module) that could have been related to the failure but the contact was advised by the manufacturer that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

Front passenger seat weight sensor.the passenger airbag off light, which lights up during car start-up sequence, does not light when seat is empty. Brought into royal gate dodge, ballwin mo for service.was told by the service manager the light did not illuminate by design and that it would only illuminate when there was weight (approx 10lbs - 40lbs) in the seat.no parts were replaced, no action taken by dealer to correct situation, no sensor check was accomplished.the defective sensor, which indicates there is sufficient weight in the seat to fire airbag, can cause serious consequences including the death.at the very least the bag would fire unnecessarily causing extensive repair costs to replace the bag and dash (likely a desirable result for the dealer).more importantly, if a smaller person or child is sitting in seat, serious injury could result.specific date reported can be obtained from dealer.date below very approximate.

On february 8, 2011 while driving in the rain my 2006 dodge grand caravan airbag light came on.on february 14, 2011 i read online about nhtsa campaign id# 10v008000 and nhtsa action # rq09003 that stated this problem would be covered by chrysler free of cost.on february 17,2011 i took the vehicle to dodge for this to be fixed and they stated m vin was not one of the vins covered by the safety campaign so i had to pay $225 to have the front airbag crash sensor and wiring leading up to the senor replaced.

Low speed (around 15 miles per hour) front end collision resulted in deployment of driver side airbags.knee airbag with hard plastic cover deployed against shins of driver, my wife.within minutes of the accident she had sever bruising, swelling and pain.within a few weeks, the skin and tissue on left leg turned black and required surgery to remove.a few days later she had a skin graft done.six months later she continues to have significant issues with swelling, pain and circulation.surgeon has now referred her to another specialist.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan.the contact stated that the air bag sensor light remained illuminated. The contact was able to locate a recall for the failure (nhtsa campaign id number: 10v008000- air bag sensor control module) yet his vin was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 62,946.updated 12/30/10*ljupdated 04/06/11

Vehicle only has 42,000 miles on it and the air bag sensor had to be replaced. Air bag light went on for no apparent reason. I understand that the 2005 dodge caravan had a recall for this issue. Please advise.

During a recent accident in my 2006 dodge grand caravan, the deployment of the knee airbag caused substantial bruising and abrasions to my shins, and i expect to be permanently scarred as a result.were it not for the knee airbag, i would have walked away from the accident without a scratch.

It first started with the passenger side sliding door lock.it would not automatically lock and had to be done manually.now the driver's side door lock will not go up and down automatically nor will it do it manually.the door will also not open at all from inside or outside.this is a safety issue because passengers are not able to get out of the vehicle from that side.

Door lock failure on 2006 dodge grand caravan.sliding door is locked and will not open manually or with eletronic buttons.big safety issue if a child or passenger is in the back of van and you could not get the door open to get child or people out if an accident was to happen!!! vehicle is no longer under warranty and i cannot afford an $100 charge to a dealership just to look at the car.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. While trying to restart the vehicle, the contact noticed that the key fell out of the ignition. The contact replaced the key and was able to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 127,000.

Takata recall1. The key fob, automatically controlled rear door hatch does not stay open when using the key fob or manually opening the hatch door. It has closed nearly upon myself - the owner, and others - without warning when stopped, motor off and loading or unloading items. There is no way to assess what caused this as it gets below normal wear. Single party use, no kids. This incidence started 12/12/20162. The front brakes make a scraping noise and wobbling of steering wheel upon coming to a stop. This was mentioned to the dealer earlier this year and brakes, pads and rotors were checked at dealer, and it was stated that nothing was wrong. New brake pads were installed in 2013. The car mileage is 85241 miles. The wheels have been rotated, aligned.the car has regular, routinemaintainance, the brakes still scrapes and wobbles the steering wheel. This has been a recurring incidence.

2006 dodge grand caravan - door does not fully close or open with automatic button - wire in door track was severed from multiple openings and closings - have seen on the internet that it has happened to a lot of other vans.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while he attempted to start the engine, smoke emitted under the hood. The main wiring harness was on fire and spread to the central computer system and the wheel wells. The manufacturer investigated the failure and concluded that the wiring harness failure was not caused by a manufacturing defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 162,000.updated 3/31/14 the consumer stated as of feb 27th, the insurance company totaled the vehicle, due to the extensive repairs of $6,800. The main wiring harness and all the computers were damaged, along with the fuse block. Updated 04/01/14 ..updated 04-22-14 updated 04/23/14

Electric locks no longer work for side doors.can still manually lock/unlock doors, but this involves reaching around from front seat.this is a safety issue because my child cannot manage to manually pull up the lock to unlock the door and let herself out in case of an emergency.side doors also no longer automatically lock when reaching driving speeds, which is another safety hazard related to children. Various solutions have been posted online but all accounts state these are only temporary fixes and do not resolve the issue long term.cannot operate the electronic locks from the driver side door switch, either, so this is not a key battery issue.whatever electrical short is causing this has also shorted out the dome lights inside the front of the van (driver and passenger side).

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated there was an egr and electrical problem that recurred. The engine light illuminated when she was driving on multiple occasions. The rear right passenger door would not lock or close properly. The left brake light and left turn signals were repaired multiple times.the failure was diagnosed by an independent mechanic. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the egr valve system, the left brake light, left turn signal light, front wipers, front brake pads, and rotors needed to be replace. The vehicle also needed a major tune up. All of the repairs were made minus the egr valve system and the rear passenger side door which the dealer was unable to repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70867.

We own a 2006 dodge grand caravan , the problems started with the turn indicator not work correctly , it flashes on the wrong side , if you click it to turn rightthe lights work for the left side , some time it will not work at all.now the key less entry doesn't work the first time you press it unlocks the drivers side only press it two times rapidly and it will unlock the rear hatch and passengers side. This model van has massive electrical problems i keep smelling burning wires but i have to drive it because its our only vehicle and i have 4 children so im always worried about there safety in this van. We have owned it since new so there has been nothing changed bye anyone besides the dodge dealer.btw took it to dodge they never have figured it out and the warranty is expired now so i am stuck with it.

2006 dodge grand caravan electric passenger door stops 6" after opening, when closing stops in the same place.82,000 miles- seems like a very common problem with others after doing research.

My sliding door quit working half way thru cycle.my power went dead in doors and locks i took it to the dodge dealer they could not find the problem said it was either the ecm or the bcm but not sure.they did not want to replace as they would just burn out again if this was the problem and still a short somewhere it was safe to drive. I drove it home and next day went to start it and the main wiring harness under the battery and above the drivers side wheel well burst into flames burning the entire main electrical harness and ecm and fuse box up. Took it by tow truck to dodge dealer again they said looks like wiring harness was worn through where it was fastened to the frame at the assembly plant. Called dodge and they said this has happened before suppose to send an inspector and no one showed up it has been over a week and no help from dodge or the dealer who told me it was safe to drive.

This vehicle has a stalk on the steering column that controls the windshield washer, wiper, as well as the vehicle bright lights, and the turning signals.around may. 2014 the washer began working intermittently.sometimes it would work, sometimes not.wiggling the stalk would sometimes make it work.by pulling the stalk toward the driver, the bright lights are suppose to come on temporarily, until released.they stopped working, also about may, 2014.it is still working intermittently, but now the turning signals are also affected, working intermittently, or even putting on the left turn signal, when the switch is turned for a right turn, or right for left.i am afraid that this switch is defective, and can cause an accident if it does not work reliably.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. While driving at an unknown speed, both rear sliding doors opened independently. The contact stopped the vehicle and manually closed the doors. While parked, the rear sliding doors closed independently and had to be forced open. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and diagnosed the cause of failure as electrical. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000. Ma 08/11/15the consumer stated the failure causes physical pain and anxiety to occupants. The doors would lock children inside the vehicle. The interior lights and radio would not operate. The vehicle would also shake violently. Updated 8/14/15 updated 09/03/15*lj updated 3/29/2016 the consumer stated she as well as her children have been smashed by the doors and her family has been under doctor's care since the vehicle was purchased. My son was driving my van on the interstate when suddenly everything on the van shut off. Luckily, there were no vehicles immediately behind us .he said that he bumped the ignition with his knee.

The parking lights turn on and off randomly when the vehicle is off.when the vehicle is running, the parking lights don't operate properly using the light switch--e.g. The parking lights stay on when turned off.cycling the switch several times can turn the parking lights off.our car was manufactured late in december 2005 according to dodge.this appears to be related to nhtsa action # ea11010.dodge has refused to cover the headlight switch assembly (hsa) under what should be a lifetime warranty.the hsa has been replaced at owners expense and the problem appears to be fixed.we saved the defective part.

The rear power lift gate on my 2006 dodge grand caravan does not stay open when loading or unloading items but keeps continually closing hard automatically when needing to have it stay open to allow for loading or unloading. This happen whether one tries to open the door using the handle manually or automatically with the key fob. This has happened over the last 3 or 4 years especially during winter but not confined to winter only. My grandson and myself almost got caught more than once and injured in its unexpected downward free-fall. This is very dangerous to anyone trying to access the back portion of the van as the heavy lift gates closes on them trapping them and causing potential serious injury. This happens when vehicle is stationary and in the garage or stationary in a shopping parking lot when loading groceries or other purchases. Or when putting the rear seats up or down to utilize back portion of van. Someone cannot hold the lift gate open when another is trying to access the back of the van as the lift gate falls hard and cannot be stopped. There are currently 93,360 miles driven.

The automatic door locks are jammed on both sides of the vehicle and will not unlock even manually. While this may seem like a minor issue, if we were to end up in an accident with no way for my 5 children to exit the vehicle except through the front 2 doors, it would be a huge safety issue. I understand that the automatic locks occasional malfunction, there should be a safety mechanism that at least allows for it to operate manually but this is not the case. I researched online and on many sites there are others with the same issue. I called chrysler to issue a complaint and they referred me here.

Passenger side sliding door will not lock by remote key. Driver side sliding door will not open or close by remote key or interior console key. I believe the system is defective and that switches are defective as well.

Driver side passenger door automatic lock does not work.

Multiple electricalproblems resulting in many sensor and part replacements. First surge in mileage gauage resulted in replacement of fried radio. Second surge resulted in air bag sensor replacement. Third surge resulted in no problem found. Fourth surge resulted in abs sensor needing to be replaced. The fifth surge resulted in driver seat control motor going bad, but being repairable. The sixth sugre resulted in drivers seat motor having to be replaced due to complete burn out. Since the first surge i have been unable to open the sliding doors with either the console or the buttons beside the doors most often. After one of these surges, only the key remote will open the sliding doors.

I turned into a drive way and the car lost control. Breaks locked and i wouldn'tstop

My headlights have been turning on by themselves while the switch is in the off position.

The sliding passenger door locks no longer lock automatically lock while driving. They have to be locked manually. This is a safety issue. With children in the back seat, they can now open the doors while the car is moving if an adult forgets to lock them.the lift gate in the back no longer chimes when opening. This is a safety issue. Someone can get whacked with the door, not knowing that it is about to open.the parking lights stay on or come on spontaneously after the headlights have been turned off. This is a problem. Very easy for the owner to come out in the morning to a dead battery and a car that won't start. Some owners have reported the headlights cutting out while driving, a serious safety issue.

Vehicle headlights intermittently turn off even though the headlight switch is in the on position. Headlights are able to be turned back on by cycling the switch off and on multiple times. Sometimes headlights flicker on and off intermittently even though the headlight switch remains in the on position. This has been a problem according to a previous investigation by your organization. The investigation number ea11010. Your findings showed this problem occurring with this particular make model and year of vehicle. It also indicated that chrysler corporation was going to initiate a lifetime warranty on the headlight switch assembly for this particular vehicle. It indicated that this was going to start sometime in early 2013. I contacted chrysler corporation service and they indicate that there is no warranty or known problem on that particular headlight switch assembly. When i referred them to your site and the particular investigation and conclusion in regards to this issue they indicated that this was not a known problem and just because it was on the internet does not mean that is true. The identified issue and problem with the headlight switch assembly will not be taken care of under warranty according to chrysler corporation. This seems to be in direct conflict with what chrysler corporation told your organization that they were going to do which was to place this part under a lifetime warranty beginning sometime early 2013.

Automatic passenger sliding door will not open or shut completely with either buttons or fob. When the door is closed manually the door cycles to "pull" itself shut. My children noticed this also starting on driver side door as well. We believe a wire in the plastic black casing has shorted or been severed.

Headlights on my 2006 dodge grand caravan have been intermittenton various occasions.when you turn the switch on, headlights do not always activate.no injuries, no accidents, but could cause a potential accident by not being able to see, or to be seen.once the problem was recognized, in each instance, by playing with the switch, the lights eventually would come on.first instance was probably in 2007, latest in 2009 on a couple of different occasions.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the headlights would not illuminate. In addition, the headlights would unexpectedly stop illuminating at night and would not begin functioning again for a few hours. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.the consumer stated over the last two years the headlights would not come on when she used the switch to turn them on.the consumer stated while driving at night, she noticed the headlights were not on, but within a few seconds, they came back on. My sliding door quit working half way thru cycle. My power went dead in doors and locks i took it to the dodge dealer they could not find the problem said it was either the ecm or the bcm but not sure. They did not want to replace as they would just burn out again if this was the problem and still a short somewhere it was safe to drive. I received a letter from chrysler stating it was not a manufacturer defect yeah right!!

Investigation: dp 14-002;prompted by: defect petition;date opened: 09/05/2014; investigator: [xxx];reviewer: [xxx];approver: [xxx]; subject: engine stall after refueling.please include me in the above mentioned complaint/investigation #dp 14-002.after refueling, my engine stalls about 1 to 2 minutes after starting almost every time i fill-up with fuel. When the fueling nozzle trips for the first time, i do not attempt to continue adding more fuel and possibly overfilling the fuel tank.i have been caught in heavy traffic at times with the engine stalling and it takes 2 to 3 attempts to restart the vehicle. This is very dangerous! now after refueling, i pull away from the pumps and park out of the way and allowthe engine to stall.after attempting to restart several times, the engine will misfire for about 30 to 45 seconds, then the engine will smooth out and run fine until the next refueling.i want to thank you in advance for all of your help in this matter.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Over the last several weeks my 2006 dodge grand caravan with a 3.8 liter engine will stall out several times after refueling. It will restart & stall several times before the problem seems to rectify itself. All power assisted steering is lost and the vehicle becomes difficult to steer safely. Power braking is also affected. There have been a couple of occasions where i have been turning into traffic and had the vehicle stall. One time i was unable to complete the turn and stay in my lane. On one occasion i breached the lane to my left. While traffic was traveling in the same direction i was, another motorist had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting me.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. While driving at 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 141,000.

Engine unexpectedly stalls shortly after refuel.

After filling up with gas engine stalled approximately 1/2 mile from the gas station. Had to coast to side of the road without power steering.placed engine in park, turned of key and restarted.engine ran rough had to depress accelerator for additional gas.once restarted engine ran fine for the rest of the trip.this same problem also occurred in early january 1/03/2015 after filling up with gas. Not only is this an inconvenience, but very dangerous in heavy traffic scenarios.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled intermittently on multiple occasions. Additionally, the vehicle jerked violently and was extremely difficult to steer. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure was unable to be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.updated 8/14/14updated 8/27/2014

I've taken the vehicle to pepboys twice because although the gas gauge was working, the vehicle would click the gas nozzle off and would not accept fueling. Pepboys replaced the in-tank pump as a remedy twice. Dodge/chrysler said it was the breather tube. Who's right?

For no apparent reason, the engine shuts off while driving. The clock remains on, but accessories such as the heater also shut off, and i have no power assist with steering. So far, it's happened within 5 minutes of start-up; the outside temperatures were below freezing, but the engine has not always been cold. 1/17/07 approx. 5 min. After i'd been driving, at about 30mph, i realized the noisy fan for the heater turned off. I thought maybe the new van has a feature i didn't know about, where it reaches a set temperature then shuts off automatically? then i realized the radio had also gone quiet. I tried to accelerate but it wasn't responding, so i went to pull off on the shoulder and discovered i didn't have power steering, either. Fortunately, i was able to brake. I turned the key to the off position, restarted the van, and it seemed to work fine. At no time did i see a check engine light. 1/18/07 i had driven to a gas station, turned the van off to fill the tank, and restarted it a few minutes later, to drive away. I accelerated about 5 feet before the van turned itself off again. I stopped, moved the key to the off position, restarted it, and went on my way.1/24/07 i backed out of the garage, but after i accelerated in reverse, about 10 ft. Down the driveway the van turned itself off again. Other days i had the heater/accessories running, but this time nothing else was turned on. The clock remained lit, so it doesn't seem like a battery issue. I turned the key to the off position and restarted the van, resumed my drive, and made an appointment with the dodge dealership under warranty. They said there were no computer codes showing; they drove 17 mi. But couldn't duplicate the problem. Since then, the van has only shut off by itself once more when my spouse was driving, but now it seems like a probable ignition switch safety issue to investigate.

After fueling, the vehicle with surge and often stall with need for restart.very frequently it does this when taking off from a stop sign which can cause a stall in the middle of an intersection.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled. The brake pedal went straight to the floorboard when it was depressed and the contact stopped the vehicle using the emergency brake. The vehicle was able to be restarted and resumed normal operation. The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan sxt. While attempting to shift the vehicle into park, the vehicle accelerated unexpectedly. As a result, the vehicle crashed into the rear of another parked vehicle. The contact suffered from hip pain. An independent mechanic cleaned the throttle plate. The vehicle sustained severe front end damage and was repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000. Updated 05/18/2015

After filling the tank with gas, the van engine runs rough and then stalls out.this has happened numerous timesover the past three to four years.when it happened on tues, october 7, 2014, i had just pulled out of the gas station and was getting ready to cross a busy intersection when the car stalled.i had to quickly put it in to park and restart.scared me to death.again, this has happened at least fifty times to me.we have taken it to the dealership and they can never get the problem to happen for them which makes sense because it is only going to happen after refueling.

After filling fuel tank, pulled into traffic and the van stalled 30 seconds later. Was able to pull out of traffic and restart. This happens now every time the fuel tank is filled. Within a minute or two of leaving the gas station, the engine will at least hesitate and many times stalls completely.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. While driving 45 mph, the oil pressure and an unknown warning indicator illuminated when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the failure could not be duplicated. On november 9, 2019, while driving 55 mph, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was losing speed, but was able to be pulled over to the side of the road. In addition, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The vehicle was unable to be driven. The contact called the police due to her disabled husband being in the cold for over two hours. A police report was filed. He was transported to the hospital, but there were no injuries or medical attention needed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and then towed to an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that there was an oil leak in the engine and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

For at least six months, i have heard a whining sound coming from my engine, normally after driving on the interstate for about fifteen miles.when i slow down, the whining lowers in pitch; when i accelerate, the pitch goes up.in recent weeks, the whining has gotten louder.i have had the car for under two years.it has handled well and has been regularly serviced.the dodge dealership, after spending seven hours, informed me that the steering fluid was low due to a leak and that the steering rack would have to be replaced at a cost of $1250 plus labor (it would be an all day job).they also indicated that i would soon need a serpentine belt, which would cost $125 plus labor.upon researching on the internet, i have discovered that this problem has been common in 2006 grand caravan models but that dodge has chosen not to recall them.i have looked at pricing of the parts needed to do this and find the rack available for a tenth of the price this dealership (shelby motors in champaign, illinois) wanted to charge.i have also read numerous accounts of the successful remedies that were used instead, including replacing a faulty steering fluid reservoir.the power steering has not worked any differently that it did the first day i purchased the vehicle.the pitch is not affected by turning.i also read that these parts should not need replacing in a car with such low mileage.i have seen no evidence of any leak on my garage floor.

I don't know much about cars- but grand caravans 05 and 06 models are all having rear evaporator's that are breaking down.in fact if you put in "rear evaporator" into google the first link is about the grand caravan problem.that's how bad it is.it's an expensive part and they aren't doing a recall due to bad craftsmanship.i don't think this constitutes a safety recall but american consumers are getting charged for something that is a known defect.

I have been told by a dodge dealership that the following is wrong with my car and i need the following: - erg valve- water pump- power steering rack- rack & pinioneven though the car runs fine and does not shakes or anything.after doing some research online i found at a website, www.edmunds.com, reviews from many other owners of also a 2006 dodge grand caravan to be having the same problems that i am having.some of them have low mileage on their cars and others have high mileage.it is too much of a coincidence that so many people are having the same problems on their 2006 g. Caravan.seems to me that there is a problem with the 2006 line and if this is the case is something dodge needs to fix and cover the repair costs and not the owners.also the repairs total cost are too much money at this moment to afford.

Rear ac evaporator leaking.. I heard there was a recall on this, estimated cost to replace is between 850-1000, can you give me any information.

After having my 06 dodge gc serviced at the local dealer for a catalytic converter at 72,000 miles, i was informed my rack and pinion was bad and need to be replaced for $1100.just the response for this site alone leads me to believe this is a bigger problem and dodge should fix the problem.

Our rear evaporator does not work. Air conditioning does not work. We only have 48,000 miles on our van and i have read a alot of similar stories regarding this issue.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan.while driving 45 mph, the steering vibrated and the vehicle felt out of alignment.precision alignment inspected the vehicle and noticed that the motor mount was worn and needed to be replaced.the dealer stated that they would perform a diagnostic to determine if the motor mount was faulty.the vin was unknown.the current mileage was 38,000 and failure mileage was 36,000.

Air conditioner.

A/c stopped working while driving.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan.the contact stated that the air conditioner became inoperative and had to be replaced.the power steering rack also had to be replaced due to a loud grinding noise that was heard coming from the steering column.in addition, the radiator fans would overheat and were replaced.the manufacturer did not assist.the failure mileage was 4,300 and current mileage was 58,000.

While driving down the highway in heavy traffic the engine blows out of no where leaving the van almost inoperable. I have come to find out that this is a very common problem with these 3.8 liter engines. It was driving fine and then there was extremely loud knocking and a sudden loss in power. Once i was able to get pulled over i checked the oil and it had "disappeared". To correct the issue a new engine is needed and these newer engines from chrysler have a modified oil pump which tells me they know about this problem and are correcting it but only after you spend thousands of dollars for the new motor.

When driving in wet conditions, particularly splashing through water, the vehicle serpentine belt begins to chatter and the vehicle experiences a brief reduction/loss of power.this becomes particularly troublesome when pulling out into traffic.the dealerships have stated that there is no mechanical defect with the vehicle that they can find.this happens on repeated occasions and can be reproduced even today.it has been occurring for some time now.

Intermittent headlight failure on 2006 dodge grand caravan. Upon turning on headlights, they occasionally don't work. They intermittently fail completely while driving without notice or provocation resulting in a very dangerous situation. There are numerous complaints of this well known problem concerning other years of these vehicles on internet forums. There are no known reasons for the problem. I've asked my mechanic and a dodge dealer and they both say it's a well known problem without any answers.

2006 dodge grand caravan has intermittent issues with headlights not functioning properly (will not turn on, or may go off while driving, or may flicker while driving).these are serious safety issues because it is intermittent and driver can not always tell if lights are out while driving. Car is used frequently and problems occur at least once a day.dodge service recommended replacing front control module and power distribution module ($900 parts and labor) but could not promise this would correct the issue so no repairs have been made to date.

Very easy for the owner to come out in the morning to a dead battery and a car that won't start. Some owners have reported the headlights cutting out while driving, a serious safety issue.

The headlights and taillights come on randomly throughout the day and night while the car is parked and off. The warning dings for accidentally leaving your lights on happens every time you open the doors even though the lights are off. This has been going on since we got the vehicle.

The headlights function intermittently with the switch and also turn off intermittently while driving even though the headlight switch remains on. Turning the switch on and off multiple times sometimes will cause the headlights to turn back on but not always. Sometimes the headlights will turn back on by themselves.

Approximately 10 times over the last 3 yrs.the headlights on my van have malfunctioned.about 6 of those 10 times the problem was that i couldn't get the light to turn on.the other times, i couldn't get them to turn off.when the lights were not working the only way to see was to manually hold the lever to turn the brights on and drive with one hand on the wheel and the other on the lever.as far as the lights not turning off, i had to manipulate the switch by turning it off and on and pulling it out to the fog light position as well as bang on the dash to get the lights to turn off.

When i got to work and went to turn the headlights off.the lights shut off but it kept dinging like they were still on.i turned the switch on then off again and it still kept dinging and the smaller headlights came on and didn't shut off after i had shut off lights.i had to go back and do the same thing with the light switch and then they finally shut off.this has happened on several other occasions.

2006 dodge grand caravan se 72900 mi. Turn stalk inoperative signalling left hand turn though 4 way flasher works; so it is not the flasher.right turn phase works.intermittent failure.will report to chrysler 18009921997.dealer refused to fix, not recalled.this is the second dgc with a turn stalk failure i have owned, other was 1999 dgc.chry.

I am having a intermittent issue with my headlights, they are shuting off while driving and although crysler has a lifetime warranty on the head light swithch for this exact issue my vehicle vin is not included in this warranty. This is dangerous and should be a recall as people could be in danger of crashing if this happens and they are unable to see.

My headlights have been turning on by themselves while the switch is in the off position.

Occasionally, maybe five or six times in the last year, i would turn the headlights on in my 2006 dodge grand caravan and they would not turn on. I could turn them off then on again and they would stay on. Last night, they turned on the first time i tried. I had been on the road approximately one hour when they went out on me. I turned the on/off switch a few times and they came back on. After 3-4 minutes they went off again, so again i turned the switch off and onand they came back on. They went out again and i found they would stay on if i held the high beam lever down. After about 5 minutes i released the high beam lever and the headlights stayed on for the next 20 minutes until i got home. I will not be driving this vehicle again at night until i can get it fixed. The problem is that 99% of the time, the lights operate correctly.

The headlights on my 2006 dodge caravan have been intermittent on a half dozen occasions since i purchased it new.in all instances, by jiggling (turning on/off) the switch, i have gotten the lights back on.the last incident was on 01/25/2010 coming home in a snowy (white out) conditions in iowa and my lights went out completely.i was able to get them back on in a relatively short period of time, but could not see the road, etc., because of the snowy white out conditions.could very well have resulted in an accident of major injury. I see many posts on the internet related to this same problem on various dodge/chrysler mini vans of various years.*cw

I received a letter from chrysler stating it was not a manufacturer defect yeah right!!

Sometimes my headlights turn on sometimes they don't. The switch is fine and the fuses are good.

Press down on turn signal stalk and the right turn signal comes on.press up on turn signal stalk and left blinker comes on. Sometimes neither turn signal will work at all when turn signal stalk is pushed up or down.

We were driving along and the headlamps randomly turned off for no apparent reason. We jiggled the switch and they came back on.this now happens frequently.

Turn signal switch signals the opposite direction chosen frequently usually when turning right.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the opposite turn signal would illuminate when he attempted to operate the turn signals. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the clock spring was replaced. The contact was also stated that the failure was a widespread issue among his vehicle make and model. The failure mileage was 72,000 and the current mileage was 77,000.updated 08/31/11 the dealer replaced the clockspring assembl. Updated 09/09/11

Intermittent turn signal operation problem. Right signal turns on when attempting to signal left, have to then switch to right and back to get left to turn on. Happens while in operation and in motion, checked out fine when parked.

Headlights spontaneously extinguish while operating the vehicle on an intermittent basis. Initial activation of the headlight switch sporadically fails to activate headlights, or activation is delayed by several seconds. Toggling the switch will occasionally return function to the headlights. These incidents occur daily.

The consumer stated there were several occasions, where the headlights would not come on at all after toggling the switch. The consumer referenced engineering analysis (ea11-010)updated 03/29/12

Press down on turn signal stalk and the right turn signal comes on.press up on turn signal stalk and left blinker comes on. Sometimes neither turn signal will work at all when turn signal stalk is pushed up or down.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the turn signals were defective and would only function intermittently. The vehicle was not taken for inspection or repairs. The failure and current mileage was 105,000.

The turn signal switch on this vehicle does not work properly.many times, when it is switched on, the opposite turn signal turns on (ie. The switch is flipped to make a right turn, but the left signal lights).sometimes it will come on for the proper direction, but then all of a sudden starts flashing to the other side.sometimes the signal turns on properly but then just stops doing anything, even though the switch is still "on".and yet other times, the turn signal does not turn on at all.this has been happening over the last month or so, but is getting progressively worse.the vehicle is less than 2 years old, but because the vehicle is 2000 miles out of warranty, dodge is not willing to repair this without a charge.

After filling the gas tank with gasoline, the car will often stall temporarily after traveling approximately 1/4 mile.this has happened numerous times, but the car has always restarted.i thought that i was using a poor brand of gasoline, but i just received notice ofa recall for sticking fuel fill valve on my other vehicle, which has never (to my knowledge) experienced this problem.

Van stalls a few minutes after re-fueling tank to full level. Tank is not topped off beyond what auto shut-off nozzle at station allows. Stalling quite often happens when driving back onto main streets from gas station. All power braking and steering is lost when this happens which presents a very dangerous situation especially in heavier traffic conditions. Van must be completely stopped and restarted. Once restarted, vehicle does not exhibit problem until next fill up.

When the gas tank is filling up, the gas nozzle continues to shoot gas out of the tank.this has happened every time we have filled our tank up regardless of what station we were using.local dodge dealer said it was not related to the vehicles fuel system or design. This is a big safety hazard because the vehicle builds up a high static charge due to the fabric seats etc. Can be quite a shock which is not good to mix with this gasoline problem.

Post refueling stalls. While going on long trips, after refueling in the rest areas, the minivan stalls while entering the highway causing me to panic while avoiding high speed traffic going by. This happen many time during a trip to florida from indiana.

After fueling, the vehicle with surge and often stall with need for restart.very frequently it does this when taking off from a stop sign which can cause a stall in the middle of an intersection.

Engine rough idleafter fueling and occasionally stalls on road

After filling my gas tank, i drove approximately 2 miles and the car totally lost power and stalled.the entire dash panel died and i lost all steering capabilities.this has happened multiple times and i no longer fill my gas tank to the fullest capacity for fear that the car will stop.

Refueled vehicle normally. Drove 1 mile, while turning corner the engine stalled completely, steering became sluggish.this has happening approximately 50% of the time after we refuel the caravan.it is extremely dangerous as we lose control of the vehicle.

Filled fuel tank right off i24 in tn.car stalled on entrance ramp to highway.drifted to side and engine restarted quickly.this now happens almost every time the tank is filled.around town i can cope by not filling the tank, but very inconvenient and very dangerous on trips especially on highways.we are not talking about overfilling the tank, but just filling to point when pump shuts off.when engine stalls, not only is there an immediate loss of momentum, the power steering system quits, but the brakes become useless. Every time this happens, i just wait for someone behind me to not slow down in time and rear-end me.luckily, i have not been in the fast or middle lane when it stalls, because of possibly not being able to get to the shoulder to restart it.i am also paranoid that if i try to mess with putting it into neutral and fooling around with the key, i will become a very distracted driver.chrysler's answer is to replace fuel tank at a cost of $1200.if i could afford that then i wouldn't be driving a 2006 automobile.

We purchased van new from dodge dealer in september of 2006.about 5 months ago my wife (normally drives) stalled pulling toward an intersection shortly after she drove from filling the gas tank.the van runs fine otherwise and now has about 112k miles. This happened to her a few more times (very stressful losing power steering and brakes). Therefore, one fill-up to check it i drove the car and it did the same a couple minutes after fill-up driving 1/4 mile slowly in nearby home depot parking lot (afraid i would hit someone trying to turn (similar conditions as my wife had). The van will restart after trying a couple of times and then run fine for the rest of the tank.we have been forced to stop filling the tank above 3/4, an inconvenience to plan for but seems to eliminate that problem; but i am not sure how much longer that will work. In doing research i understand other dodge van owners in that year range have had this problem. Apparently, due to the design of the valve that is failing the entire gas tank must also be replaced which is very costly.i feel that chrysler used a very poor design or part where if only the valve fails that the entire gas tank must be replaced.the van runs fine, we like the van and were planning to drive it many more miles but at this point the costly repair involved is a good portion of the vehicle value.i think that chrysler should help us in repairing this issue.it is obviously a safety issue when driving the car, and a design flaw in my opinion in that failure of a small component requires the whole gas tank system to be replaced.please let us know chrysler's position on this issue.we realize that the vehicle is out of chrysler's warranty but feel this is something that should have been rectified when the issue became known a number of years ago.thanks in advance

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph immediately after refueling, the vehicle suddenly stalled. After restarting the vehicle resumed normal function. The contact indicated that the defect had occurred on two separate occasions and the defect only occurred after filling the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the roll over valve inside the fuel tank was defective. The vehicle was currently being repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The failure mileage was 143,000.

Vehicle often stalls shortly after refueling.can be very dangerous if pull out into traffic.has happened at least a dozen times.does not happen with every fill-up, but is becoming more frequent.

I came across the nhtsa action number dp14002 when looking for internet info about other problems with the 2006 grand caravan.the nhtsa summary describes an ongoing problem that we have with this mini-van:if you completely fill the fuel tank you are quite likely to have the vehicle stall within the first quarter-mile of driving.i am sorry see that this action has been closed!

After fueling my 2006 dodge caravan it will stall, or sputter to almost stalling then rev up and almost stall again several times.after a few times of stalling and sputtering it then runs fine.the problem is that this happens usually right after pulling out of the gas station, which usually involves pulling out into traffic.two times this happened, before i know better now, it happened after pulling out onto the road and stalling in the middle of 4 lane roads.luckily the first time there was no traffic and the second time i was going downhill on a straight road and was able to coast until i got the van started.although i am aware of the problem now, this could be dangerous.also this is a business vehicle and people other than myself drive the vehicle.my employees may not be able to react to a stall in the middle of a road as i am.

I've taken the vehicle to pepboys twice because although the gas gauge was working, the vehicle would click the gas nozzle off and would not accept fueling. Pepboys replaced the in-tank pump as a remedy twice. Dodge/chrysler said it was the breather tube. Who's right?

Van stalls after filling the grand caravan with fuel. Loses steering and speed.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that when refueling to a half or full fuel tank, the vehicle stalled. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. Additionally, the contact stated that the key failed to turn in order to start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that a sensor failed within the fuel tank and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. While driving at 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the failure occurred immediately after the fuel tank was filled. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

This problem started in august of 2014 but it is ongoing and happened as recently as march 27, 2015.every time i fill up the gas tank on my 2006 dodge grand caravan, the car stalls out while we are driving.eventually, we are able to start the van back up and keep driving.after that, it drives fine until we fill up the tank again.one time we stalled out and the van did not start back up so we replaced the fuel pump.the van started back up but the issue returned again.it happens every time we fill up.this seems to be an ongoing issue that many people have.i believe it is related to defect petition dp 14-002.http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/ucm461759/inoa-dp14002-5470.pdf.i believe that dodge needs to issue a recall and fix the fuel tanks which contain the faulty fuel valves causing this problem.

I was picking up a machine in georgia, and i had to stop and get gas. I filled up with gas drove onto the turnpike and the car stalled and a truck almost hit my car as my car was coasting to get it off the highway. He hit his brakes and squealed up to my vehicle. This situation could kill someone and i read hundreds of complaints from people online. This happens on every fill up since. *dt

Starting about a year ago, my 2006 dodge grand caravan engine stalls after refueling, usually when making a turn, but sometimes when just driving straight. A few times i have almost been in serious accidents because of it, the most serious stall occurred in a busy intersection. The stalling occurs after about 90% of my fill-up times. It occurs on the first drive after refueling but i don't know when it will happen. I called dodge and spoke to jarred on 3/2/2015 at 1:00pm but he would not say if dodge/chrysler has any knowledge of the problem. He just said that it is not on their recall list. I hope that the nhtsa can push dodge to create a recall for this problem, which i believe is a defective gas tank or part of the gas tank.

Upon refueling, the vehicle experiences a delayed stall, meaning that the vehicle does start without hesitation; however, within a few yards of driving, the vehicle stalls.more specifically, it stalls upon braking to yield or turn just after fueling. Once the vehicle stalls, it can be restarted and the problem does not present itself again until the next fill up.this is a safety issue as the vehicle may stall in the middle of entering a busy street potentially causing an accident.this gets progressively worse with each fill up because although the engine does turn over, it takes longer to do so each time and may eventually not turn over at all.internet research and diagnostic from a certified mechanic indicate that it is the liquid separator valve.further research shows that this is a common problem with chrysler minivans.the valve cannot be replaced without replacing the entire gas tank.the valve cannot be purchased separately.because the valve is considered an emissions problem and the gas tank is not, some warranty companies will not cover the replacement.this places the consumer at risk because the high cost may not be feasible and the consumer may opt to continue to deal with the vehicle stalling in lieu of repairs.if this is a common problem with these vehicles, chrysler should either recall or allow the valve to be purchased separately.

Unable to fill with gas at service station (evaporative sistem). The nozzle kept shutting off even though the tank was nearly empty.

I have a 2006 grand caravan and lately, everytime i fill it up, it stalls out on me a few times. I almost got hit pulling out onto a highway last week.i called the dealership and he was aware of the problem. Said i should not fill the tank because it would overflow on some valve causing the stalling. He had other customers complain. My question is, why is this not fixed?. I need to fill my tank as i travel a lot.i don't want to stop and get gas often. And i sure don't want to get hit trying to leave the gas station.i got online and looked up complaints. Here is just one list i found.http://en.allexperts.com/q/chrysler-repair-807/f/stalling-refueling.htmwith this being a major problem with so many, i think chrysler should have a recall for the safety of so many people. I never had a problem until recently so this tells me, something is faulty in the gas tank.as soon as i fill it and drive off, it stalls, once it's driven a while, it works fine. I think the dealership is wrong to cover up the real problem.

Every time i fill up the the van dies or runs poorly for a few minutes. I is alway in traffic when it dies. I fill up and pull out into the road and it dies. Starts back at once but it is very dangerous

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact mentioned that the failure recurred after the vehicle was refueled. The vehicle was restarted. The failure recurred numerous times.an independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 121,000. ......updated 04/01/16

Air conditioning failed around 50,000 miles. Had system recharged and started to fail again in a couple of months. By that time, weather started to become cold. By 80,000 miles (following summer), told that the rear air evaporator part was leaking and while dodge did not "recall" the part, they extended the warrant to i think - 75,000 miles. The part took about 2 months to come in and cost over $1,600 to install. I was never given notice of the "extended warranty." driver side automatic door no longer works for the second time (first around 50,000 second time around 75,000). Rack and pinion needed replacement around 90,000 miles. That cost around $1,500.fuel gauge is about 1/4 tank off in the bad direction. Can no longer trust gauge under half a tank. Paint started to peel and metal underneath rust around 50,000 miles.

Sliding door lock actuator froze up. This renders the sliding door completely inoperable. If that door was needed foregress, it wouldn't be available.

Our 2006 dodge grand caravan with less the 28,000 felt like it would not fullystop when hitting the brakes. I already had the front brakes done and take it to the dealer routinely for oil change and inspection. So i thought it was the tires since they were greatly worn (which is hard to believe @ this mileage) we changed all 4 tires. When we took it in to the dealer for an oil change and to get the automatic door failure looked @they found the rear brakes were completely worn out and when they went to change the pads and machine the rotors it was so bad that everything started braking on them . Mechanics own description on receipt " ck. Brakes are scrubbing in rearrotors were rusted to hub. Pins for parking brake shoes to backing plate broke when taking off. Replaced brake pins & 2 broken wheel stubs. Chrysler has no respect for customers safety. Tires and brakes are worthless, automatic doors malfunction all these are safety issues! not to mention there cars are lemons water pump broken, issues with air bag, engine light on (5 times) and air conditioning all this with less then 28,000 miles on the car. When is government going to stop giving these thieves bail out money and going to dedicate time to keeping us safe and not allowing car manufactures to rip us off! i am a mother of 4 and fear for my family's safety not to mention that these rip offs really hurt family's financially.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. While parked, the contact attempted to unlock the doors with the key fob but the doors would not unlock. The contact stated the door had to be unlocked from the exterior manually using the key. The contact stated the electronic door locks from the driver's side control panel also were inoperable.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the software would have to be updated. The software was updated however, after the repair the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer a second time where the technician then advised the contact that the body control module would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Passenger side sliding door lock will not work with power swicths at 38000 miles.

Power doors and locks not working on 2006 dodge caravan. Automatic quit working a year ago had a very hard time even getting door closed.. They are very heavy or almost impossible to operate manually. Sometimes they won't unlock to even open manually from the outside and cannot open them manually from the inside --a real pain. Bought this van off show room floor for all the features --now can't even get my grandkids in and out when taking them somewhere. And of course warranty was just off when this started happening. Have fought with this over a year now-can hardly afford the payments let alone repairs...very dissatisfied! will not buy another dodge van.

Rear side power doors began to not open, close or lock properly.it started out as intermittent and was repaired under warranty but within a short period of time, it happened again.currently the doors only open, close and lock unlock manually.with the stuck automatic door - the door requires excess force to manually open and close the door.at times, the door can be open and the door open light does not register it to be open.the current situation still exists.

I have a 2006 dodge grand caravan and the sliding doors are not working properly, the sliding door on the drivers side does not work at all with the control button or the remote, you have to manually open and close it but the passenger sliding door will open with the button sometimes, but will not stop once opened, it will close right back (a couple of times it almost closed on my kids getting in and out of the car).i bought the car for the ease of the sliding doors, but now i can't even use them.i'm worried that one of my children can get caught in the door and get seriously injured as the door does not stop once in motion.

The passenger slider door's power lock is not working with the remote or with the lock switch.

I own a 2006 dodge grand caravan with approx 40k, i have never had daytime running lights which seems odd but my main complaint is one of my power sliding doors wont open when i press the button on my key or the button on the dash, it seems to not be unlocking.if you manually unlock the door from the inside and then press the button then the door opens fine.i see numerous other people on line with the same exact problem which makes me wonder why dodge has done nothing.

Automatic door on 2006 dodge grand caravan will not close.comes to within 6 inches of closing and stops.have driven off several times thinking it was closed but the kids started yelling at me and then i had to close manually.still trying to diagnose.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan.the contact pressed the power door button to unlock the sliding doors.when her child attempted to exit the vehicle, the doors slammed shut and almost severely injured the child.secondly, when she attempted to unlock the trunk of the vehicle, it would only open sporadically.the dealer would not assist.the failure and current mileages were 24,000.

1. Normal use2. Automatic close/open doors fail every time they are used. Door slides open fully, does not catch in open position, then closes on you. The first time or two our kids almost got caught in door closing. Now open manually only. Driver side door started first and now passenger door. 3. Looking for options outside of multiple visits to dealer.

2006 dodge crand caravan rear power sliding doors.initially would not unlock with electric locks.now doors open/close partially about 10 inches from the closed position.

2006 dodge grand caravan, driver's side sliding door will not unlock from inside or outside using any method: power buttons, keyless remote or manually pulling lock knob.all other doors and locks function as normal.the problem began approximately 1 week ago but we have no idea what caused the problem.have seen several other postings on fixya.com with similar problems on caravan model.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated the rear driver and passenger automatic sliding door locks failed to activate.in order to release both rear doors an occupant must manually open them from the exterior of the vehicle. The failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000. The vin was unavailable.

My 2006 grand caravan does not consistently allow the sliding power door on both sides close more than 1/2 or 3/4 of the way. Additionally, if it does close it will intermittently will not cycle fully to fully secure the door. As a result the power mechanism which seals the door will cycle over and over until someone manually opens the door and then pulls it shut.

Rear passenger sliding door does not workthe lock will only work manually. This is a bad thing as i have small children who can not unlock the door. It is a safety risk.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan.the contact noticed that the passenger side sliding door was making abnormal noises.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the locking mechanism was inoperative.the vehicle was not repaired because she had to be placed on a waiting list.several weeks later, the sliding door would not latch properly, which allowed the door to open involuntarily.the contact is in the process of notifying the manufacturer.the current and failure mileages were 3,200.

My wife released the parking brake on a 2006 dodge caravan, getting ready to drive it. The parking brake foot pedal flew up very high, hitting my wife's hand, breaking a finger.

When it rains or the street is wet the power steering randomly goes out. The happens when turning out of a driveway, turning a curve or getting out of a parking space. It has happened on the road a few times, but usually happens just after starting the car and beginning to move. It only happens when it has been raining or i go over a large puddle of water. The problem has been consistent for about a year.i have discussed the problem with the dealership where i purchased the van, carmax. They have not heard of this problem, but did replace an undercarriage shield. The problem continued after the shield replacement. Carmax then directed me to this website.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan se. The contact was driving 20 mph when the engine stalled while attempting a left turn. The vehicle also jerked and the brakes locked causing the vehicle to crash into another vehicle. The check engine and transmission warning lights illuminated intermittently prior to the failure. There were no injuries as a result of the crash but the police were contacted and a report was filed.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and the current mileages were 44,000.

This has occurred multiple times in the six months since i have owned this vehicle.any time it rains, especially if my vehicle goes through a puddle, the power steering is greatly affected.the most recent time, the power steering was completely lost and i had to use all of my strength to maneuver the car into a safe location, out of traffic.the battery light came on and my car acted like it was going to stall.the belt squealed and then everything resumed... Until i hit another puddle.in the times this has happened before, it was not nearly as long of a loss of power steering, nor did the battery light come on; the belts squealing always signals that the steering has resumed.my mechanic is baffled and we are scared to drive our vehicle, specifically in the rain.from my research, this is a common occurrence.

I purchased this vehicle used in 2011 and about three months later i took into the dealer for an oil change and they said i need to change out my rack/pinion/steeringsince it had a small leak. Now i have a larger leak underneath the van wherever i park. I checked myself to see that the small plastic clamps have come loose and transmission fluid was leaking out. That did not fix it since it is now leaking in the front passenger side. Also i have a sunroof that leaks when we wash the van and when it rains, i have cleaned out the drains but the seal is worn down and i would have to purchase the entire assemble to fix the problem at $500 for the part does not include labor? i am happy with the vehicle other than the lemon part of the axle going bad.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped, the vehicle would not move when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact pressed harder but the vehicle did not respond. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop but the failure could not be diagnosed. The contact called the manufacturer who advised him to take the vehicle to a local dealer for a diagnostic test. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The failure occurred three times since october 2010. The failure mileage was 68,000.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. When shifting from first to second gear it felt as though it wasmaking contact with something hard.the failure mileage was 26,000.the dealer diagnosed the failure, and stated that the transmission oil was leaking.the vehicle was repaired.however, the failure continued to occur.also, the dealerreplaced thespeeding sensor to make the transmission shift normally.the contact was concerned about the safety risk involved, including paying the repair cost for a failure that was notrepaired.the current mileage was 40,000.

Whining noise when van starts in cold weather, gets louder as you accelerate.

Popping noise in steering column.while traveling at least 50 miles a loud winding noisewas heardcoming from the steering column, -possibly transmission.vehicle became hard to steer.all fluids have been checked and vehicle was serviced regularly.

Brakes appeared to be going out in vehicle.had service technician check and believe transmission is going out.found out several people with this vehicle have had problems with transmissions between 60,000 and 80,000 miles.

I own and drive a 2006 dodge grand caravan.on may 19, 2007, i drove to my usual parking spot and put the van in 'park'.iexited the car and looked to the rear of the van to see how close i was to the sidewalk. Ireached into the car to pull out my key, accidentally turning it to'accessory' for abrief second before turning it to the 'off' position and removingthe key. While standing next to the car, with the driver's door still open, the van began rolling backwards! i was in shock for a bit before i realized what was happening. The driver'sdoor was pushing me from behind, and i had to walk forward to keep the door from knocking me down.i tried to reach the brake with my left hand or jump into the vehicle so i could brake. Being pushed by the door prevented this. The rear wheels rolled over the curb followed by the front tires.idesperately tried to prevent the van from rolling into the street by grabbing the steering wheel and turning it a little.the slight upslope of the road slowed the vehicle down enough for me to jump in. I put the key into the ignition, started the vehicle as quickly as i could and put it in drive.i moved forward slightly, hitting the curb, put it into reverse and drove back a bit to clear the curb, put it back into drive and drove back up onto the parking area. I immediately felt pain in both knees, back, both hips, right leg and right ankle, left upper area under my arm and into the ribcage.later i also began having stiffness in my neck, and experienced occasionalnumbness in both arms, depending on the position i had them in.i tried to contact daimler chrysler online since it was a saturday. Even after choosing the link "contact us" i was never given a phone number or e-mail address! on monday, may 21, 2007, i contacted the dodge dealer from whom i purchased the vehicle one year ago.i made an appointment to have the van checked over and repaired this friday, may 25, 2007.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan.the contact stated that all four rear shoulder seat belts would not secure in the housing latch. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing however, the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a complaint was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

I was involved in an traffic accident when another car turned left in front of my car at a light.the airbags deployed and my seatbelt appeared to work.i only had a minor burn mark probably from the airbag, a bruise on one hand and a bruise on my right knee which probably came from the cover of the lower airbag under the steering wheel.there is no problem with these.my wife, the passenger, has bad bruises, some with scraps, across her body from her left waist to her right shoulder.her right hand is badly bruised and appears one or more fingers were bent backwards from being jammed into the dashboard.she also has bruises on her upper thighs.it appears the seatbelt failed to work and the airbag stopped her or the seatbelt failed to lock on impact then suddenly locked.this assumption coming because of the type injuries. I feel this should be brought to someone's attention.i checked the website for dodge/chrysler but could not find a link to notify them.i know you do watch for potential problems so i am sending this complaint to you.

On the 2006 dodge grand caravan with rear stow n go seating, a passenger was sitting in a child booster seat on one of the back stow n go seats. The seat appeared to be locked into position. However, in transitthe seat exploded backwards with the child. The child hit their head on the back door. The ending position was the tailgating position with the child's head caught on the rear door.this was the first time the failure occurred. We are not sure what caused the failure.

While driving on a public road at 35-40 mph the vehicle began to slow down.it got progressively slower on a level road even as the accelerator was applied.at this point i noticed that the brake pedal travelwas considerably less than normal and the pedal felt very hard.the problem got progressively worse and car was barely able to limp home.it felt like i was driving in deep sand.i could not go fast enough for the transmission to shift from low gear.there were no warning lights lit on the dash panel.after sitting overnight, it appeared that the car had returned to normal and i was able to drive the car to the dealership.on first inspection the dealership was unable to find a problem.i encouraged them to call the factory for possible engineering bulletins.after three days in the shop i was informed that the factory had determined that the problem was related to a faulty brake booster with the cost of repair estimated at $800.i had previously experienced this problem about 6-8 months previously, which had totally disabled the vehicle and it had to be flatbed towed to the dealership.at that time there was no dealer resolution since, after sitting overnight, they couldn't get thevehicle to repeat the situation during test drives.i feel that if this had happened on our local interstate at highway speeds it could have resulted in a more serious situation, particularly if the brakes had bound up tightly, and it may be a safety-related issue with this particular vehicle.

The failure mileage was 69,000.updated 08/28/14*ljthe consumer stated while driving the vehilce lost engine power, brakes, and steering. Updated 09/2/2014

Antilock brake warning light stays on for more than 8 hours system was off line and not operable. Next day warning light came on and than went off. This has happened several other times placing the antilock braking system off than on again. I believe the antilock braking system of this dodge caravan was/is defective at the time of manufacture of this vehicle.

Brakes constantly squeak and rotors have uneven wear.told by dealer when i took it in that brakes were fine and still had a long life this was at 12,600miles.at 20,000 miles problem worst and now more than one year with vehicle told it need new pads and a left(passenger) caliper. Total cost $396 plus tax.they would not repair under warranty, had expired.i replace the caliper on my own and new pads.now at 36,000 miles same problem on drivers front side needs new pads and stuck right caliper.i brought this problem up to the dealer again and was told it was a bad driving habit causing this.both times told fix it on my own or pay us(dealer) to fix it.i think this is a defect in the vehicles braking system, yet the dealer will not give me a written estimate unless i have them do the work. Something smells!!!!!

I week ago, my 2006 dodge grand caravan started to make an intermittent brake noise; the brakes seemed to work fine.the car has 44279 miles. I checked the front brakes and determined that the original brakes and rotors should be replaced. The dealer told me that i needed a new master cylinder and quoted $390.90 plus tax for the repair. This was 27 feb 2009, theis . I bought the car from the dealership may 2007.my complaint is the master cylinder should not have failed this early in the cars life. Is there any other record of this occurring for this vehicle make and model year? should the manufacture or dealer be responsible for payment of this repair?

Owner noticed whining noise when turning. Inspected power steering resevoir and noticed low reading. On next service date, dealer noted leak and stated that steering column was leaking. Scheduled replacement of steering column and tie-rods. Covered under warranty - 33,000 miles on 2006 grand caravan. Waiting for scheduled repair.

Refueled vehicle normally. Drove 1 mile, while turning corner the engine stalled completely, steering became sluggish.this has happening approximately 50% of the time after we refuel the caravan.it is extremely dangerous as we lose control of the vehicle.

Need to replace steering rack and steering reservoir at 65,000 miles.vehicle had been making noises since 40,000 miles.dealer stated needed transmission fluid change.power steering fluid leaked under vehicle. Had purchased extended warranty, but, part is not covered.total cost approx. $800.

When driving in rainy conditions (note: wet road, not high water), power steering failed and van was uncontrolable.this has happened 2x in the past year.dealership says this is a common issue with this model, as water can get to the power steering belt.they offered no solution.i nearly ran into a ditch as i was unable to steer.thankfully i was able to stop the car without causing an accident, but this was a dangerous situation.both times this happened i was driving on a city street in rainy conditions.

While leaving a parking lot i felt a snap in the steering. Completed the trip while feeling heavy steering to the right. Steering seemed ok. Got home and tried thesteering full left to full right and the steering locked in the left turn position. Thought the parking steering lock was the problem and while trying to move the shift lever it locked in the d2 position and after more jiggling the lever locked in the lo position. The motor was running all of this time.

We bought a 2006 dodge grand caravan with 10k miles in 2007.the van now has 31,000 miles and the power steering fluid started leaking.mechanic said the rack and pinion steering needs to be replaced at a cost of $1,000!this van is driven 20 miles a day, to-and-from work.after doing some research, apparently many dodge caravan owners are experiencing this same problem on vans less than 5 years old.considering most drive trains last the entire life of a car/van, this seems to be a manufacturer defect that should be covered under a recall by dodge.

My son was driving my van on the interstate when suddenly everything on the van shut off. Luckily, there were no vehicles immediately behind us .he said that he bumped the ignition with his knee.

We bought almost three yearsago 2006 dodge grand caravan. Right now it only has 47000 miles. Recently we noticed a leak and we took the car for service & we found out the power steering rack is broken and leakingoil. We thought it was covered by the warranty. But the dealer told us it wasn't covered by the warranty. They estimated the cost around $1300. We called chrysler and they failed to help us. After we did some search we found out so many dodge grand caravansgetting end up breaking the power steering rack at early age. We believe chrysler need to recall this and fix the issue. It is not fair for us when our car has only 47,000 miles .

2006 dodge grand caravan w/ 3/8 enginepower steering leak... This is a common issue with the car... See this thread : http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f106de4/169my car only has 16k miles on it... Steering should be fine... Never had a car have this happen...

I noticed a strange sound upon starting the engine and then when stopped at a traffic light it was a low whine.i also noticed upon leaving the van after driving a strong odor of something like oil on a hot engine.i waited a couple of weeks and finally took it to be checked out because none of the gauges were showing a problem and nothing else seemed wrong.i was told this was a rack and pinion problem and seemed to be common with this model.instead of spending the $1,200 i was told the repair would be, i have been constantly checking the power steering fluid level and making sure it is full.why, if this is a "common problem" (which seems to be true according to the internet) has this not been a recall?other than this problem, i love the grand caravan.it just does not seem that at 41,000+ miles that this should have happened.

2006 grand caravan rack & pinion went bad.this seems to be a problem with all chrysler vans.

My 2006 dodge grand caravan with only 42,000 miles has developed a power steering fluid leak. Repair shop says steering rack needs to be replaced. Have not had this expensive repair done as yet. Seems to be a universal chrysler problem, numerous other owners of same automobile have indicated the same problem.

I have a 2006 dodge grand caravan....in january 2010, i had a routine inspection of my car and was told the right inner tire rod was loose. When i took the car in on 2/24/10 for repair, i was then informed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced as fluid was leading. My car has only a little over 62,000 miles on it. I noticed online that other owners have had problems with the rack and pinions on the dodge caravan, needing to be replaced at low mileage such as mine....some as low as 40,000.

Power steering complaint for 2006 dodge grand caravan.there is a loud whining noise coming from power steering.power steering fluid leaks and is constantly replaced.previous repairs have included a replacement of power steering fluid, replacement of power steering fluid reservoir, and replacement of filter.the problem is fixed for an intermittent time after each repair and then returns.a search of common automobile forums for "2006 dodge grand caravan power steering defect" reveals numerous complaints about same problem.it is noted that the normal response from the manufacturer is to replace the entire rack and pinion set.this is happening on very low mileage vehicles.most original complaints appear to occur on vehicles between 40,000 and 60,000 miles.

The rack and pinion on our 2006 dodge grand caravan failed (began to leak power steering fluid) before the van had reached 60,000 miles.there was no accident or crash and no one was hurt.this part was replaced soon after we noticed it had began to leak fluid.the warranty offered did not cover this part.with less than 60,000 miles on the van, this part should have lasted for almost the entire life of the vehicle.this part failed way too soon and should have had a much longer life.

Power steering on vehicle always makes a whinning noise. My neighbor has the same make and model and he says that the dealer said the power steering fluid reservoir is undersized for this vehicle. Is anyone else having this complaint about the power steering having noise and hard to turn? i bought this car used and it has always made this noise.

I have a 2006 dodge grand caravan stx 3.8l van.the van has been making a loud whining noise over the past several months. The noise is prevalent when cold or warm and when turning. Thought this may be a power steering issue.changed power steering fluid.noise still persists.tightened serpentine belt.noise still persists. Took it to a mechanic.mechanic said it was a rack and pinion issue.is there a recall on this.does anyone else have this issue.

I submitted this complaint to a local dealership that serviced my vehicle.i worry that there could be a major safety issue.i own a 2006 dodge grand caravan sxt.in the past year, i have brought it into dodge city of milwaukee for two service appointments, one in winter 2007 and another in spring 2008.during both visits, i complained of an persistent problem with the steering system.on sharp left turns, the van often makes a "pulsing" or "howling" sound.on both occasions, dodge city of milwaukee fixed something in the steering system, but the sound never went away.earlier today, as i was pulling into the alley behind my house, the car's steering suddenly froze and the oil light came on.i am not sure of the reason for this, but if there had been any traffic, or if i was traveling at a high speed, this would have been a major safety hazard.i checked the oil, which was a bit low but still in the normal range (i also complained on both visits that the car loses oil quickly and was assured by dodge city of milwaukee that this is normal).i shut off the car, turned it on again, and it seemed to work normally.since the steering was affected, i strongly suspect that this incident is somehow related to the problem that your technicians negligently failed to address.when i purchaseda new dodge van in 2006 for my family of six, i never imagined that it would cause me to fear for our safety within two years.this is an entirely unacceptable situation.i believe that it is largely due to the failure of dodge city of milwaukee's service department to address problems that i repeatedly mentioned.i am copying my lawyer on this message, along with the wilde dodge salesman who originally sold me the car, and i also plan to inform the national chrysler customer service department.if the problem with this car is too obscure to identify, then i should be provided with a new vehicle that will not put my four small children at risk.

Rack and pinion needs to be replaced on my van that has less than 60,000 miles. It is leaking power steering fluid. *ln

In 2008, the rack/pinion/steering component had to be replaced on my 2006 dodge grand caravan. In 2011, the same component again had to be replaced. This also created a need to replace tires. The manufacturer warranty had expired.

Steering system makes a loud humming noise all of the time.vehicle has 51000 miles on it, and my mechanic told me the rack and pinion has to be replaced.i asked how he could tell without looking, and he told me that this is well known problem, with these vehicles.

Failure of steering gear box leaking powersteering fluid. Van is only 5 yrs old. Internet sites show this is a very common problem with these vans. One site states the parts are on back order, 9000 parts needed. Talked to the dealer and want to charge to fix it. This is a premature failure of the part and should be covered or recalled.

Wife noticed about 5~6 months ago a humming noise when the engine is first fired from sitting overnite.a few days ago i drove van to work a 3 mile commute, drove fine, when leaving work for lunch i noticed a puddle of power steering fluid under the right side of racknpinion(rnp).in checking the fluid level it was down a little.called dodge 800-992-1997 to report our '06 gc sxt with 21,200 miles, obtained case # and setup appointment with dealer to "diagnose problem" $48.dealer stated rnp needed replacing for $1018.i checked with local o'reilly auto parts and could get rnp for under $300.dodge called and said they would pay 40/60, them 40%, me 60%.i explained to rep that if vehicle had 60~85k miles i would understand this, but at less than 25k come on.they refused to take it up the chain and only offered the $400, since it was out of warranty.i explained in my research that i found numerous other folks that have had the same problem under the 50k mark.no luck what so ever.i explained to rep i could purchase part and replace it cheaper - why should i pay $600 (parts store warranty lifetime).going to replace it myself and save $600.i feel dodge should step up to the plate since this is a manufacturing quality issue.i am tired of having fluid all over my concrete drive way.thanks dodge, for nothing.i am surprised dodge does not express any interest in my safety being my steering could go out on my wife and children thus causing an emergency situation and placing them in grave danger with respect to life, limb or property damage.shame, shame, shame.

After having my 06 dodge gc serviced at the local dealer for a catalytic converter at 72,000 miles, i was informed my rack and pinion was bad and need to be replaced for $1100.just the response for this site alone leads me to believe this is a bigger problem and dodge should fix the problem.

I purchased this car used in august, after reading reviews i discovered the rack and pinion was an issue on this van,so i asked the previous owner whether they had any issues andthey replied they had just replaced the rack and pinion due too a severe power steering fluid leak.after hearing this i figured that meant problem solved. Unfortunately its now not even a month and a half later and am noticing a severe powersteering leak, my mechanic is telling me the rack and pinion has failed once again and needs replacement.usually this part last the lifetime of any other vehicle.i am concerned and very displeased about this issue as it can be very dangerous for my family and i as well as other motorist on the road. I also suspecti am not the only one experiencing thisrepeatedly. Is there a recall im unaware of, what can i do? i was quoted between $700-800 for this job by three mechanics. Is this something dodge may be liable for?

I got up and went out to start the van and noticed a awful whining sound i took it to a garage and they told me that it was the rack and pinion i told them i just bought this van.they told me to take it back to the dealer and find out if there is a recall on it. He said this is a known problem for this van and the part is probably on back order. So my question is if it known for this problem why would a dealer sell me this van knowing i have a family of six. I did take it back to the dealer im still waiting for them to call me back and let me now what's going on. Sound like a big law suit waiting to happen if something isn't done and it causes a accident. What gets me is they sold this van to me withthis existing problem. Van was bought in march 2009mileage 49,628. They should have to start telling people about recalls or known problems on vehicles they are selling.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the power steering hose was leaking. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic where the transmission hose was replaced on the power steering. The vehicle also had an oil leak and two clamps for the power steering line was replace however, the failure recurred. Vehicle power steering makes loud resonating hum when turning.dealership cannot find the location of the noise.rack & pinion and power steering pump have both been replaced, and the noise still persists.

Loud whining noise coming from engine when cold. Had power steering pump replaced on 1st visit.one month later same problem, had alternator replaced. 3 weeks later same thing. Tech said there was an air bubble in the power steering line.the line was drained and fluid was replaced. Better not happen again!

On january 12, 2006 my van starting making a clunking sound from the front right passenger side and then would suddenly jerk and pull the van to the right.i scheduled a service appointment for the next day.while in route to the dealership the van came to an abrupt stop as well as while trying to stop the van there was no control in the steering.the van slid until stopping.fortunately i was only going about 15 mph as i had just started through the intersection.the outcome was the bolt that holds the control arm in place broke in half.there was rust in the center on the broken bolt.the van was towed to the dealership and new parts were ordered.it took about one week to repair.dodge was notified but has failed to call me back in regards to the letter i sent them.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. While driving at any speed, the vehicle began making a noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the rack and pinion steering needed to be replaced; it was replaced at that time. The contact sent the manufacturer a letter but received no correspondence at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. The current mileage was approximately 50,000.updated 5/20/2010 updated 05/24/10.

I noticed what appeared to be an oil leak coming from the right front side of my undercarriage.i immediately scheduled an appointment with my mechanic, who informed me the rack and pinion in my 2006 dodge grand caravan needed replaced.when i asked him how common it is for a vehicle of the age mine is, with so few miles for cars today, he said it was becoming common and even showed me another dodge grand caravan on the rack for the exact same thing.i was told $873 to fix it.i then called the local dodge dealer who said they had not heard of any grand caravans having this kind of problem and that they could not help me.i immediately got on the internet where i have found website after website describing the same problem as mine and that the rack and pinion for my vehicle is on back order.this really seems like a real issue that dodge needs to address, rather than jab it to the consumer.

Observed loud humming noise from under the hood while running engine.looking underhood observed fluid sprayed on engine.dealer diagnosed problem as rack & pinion.the van only has 53,000 miles.full dealer inspection in december prior to purchase claimed there were no issues with the vehicle.the repair estimate was $800. I was told squeezing the boot on end and you could see oil leaking out as the cause of the oil. Also, previously observed a click sound when doing tight u-turn at speed. The van sat for several days until we took it to dealer monday morning.i contacted chrysler (1-800-992-1997) very few miles for this to fail.after a long delay while the researched the issue, they said that it was outside the 36,000 warranty and would not be covered by other warranties. They said they could not provide me any information on how often this problem has occurred.i would hate to have steering fail while driving on the interstate.the dealer told me rack & pinion is commonly on back order but they happen to have one in stock.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. While driving various speeds, the contact heard noises coming from the steering column. The contact drove to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The mechanic also stated that the vin was included in an unknown recall; however, no recall was found. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000.

Rack and pinion leaking fluid from rubber boot and needs replaced;mechanic said very common problem for 2006 grand caravans with over 40,000 miles.has replaced more than he cares to admit.of course no longer under warranty and part is on back order? must really happen alot when the part is on back order, maybe time for a recall.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan.contact stated that the vehicle began making a clanging noise when the wheel was turned.additionally, the power steering fluid was low.when more power steering fluid was added in the vehicle, the fluid began leaking.the dealer stated that the power steering rack and pinion needed to be replaced.the repair was not made because the part was on back order.the vin, purchase date, powertrain, engine size, and number of cylinders were unknown.the current and failure mileages were 20,000.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan.after repairing the brakes, the contact turned the steering wheel and heard unusual noises.a week later, he discovered oil on the ground underneath the vehicle.the mechanic stated that the rack and pinion was failing.the dealer stated that the parts for the repair were on backorder.the failure mileage was 41,000. The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan.while the vehicle was at a shop for a routine inspection, the mechanic stated that the rack and pinion was defective.the contact notified the dealer and they stated that the parts for the repair were on back order and did not know when they would be available.the manufacturer did not provide any assistance.the failure and current mileages were 45,345.

Around 37,000 milesa whining noise started coming from the front on my 2006 dodge grand caravan.after just speaking to the dealership mechanic on the phone, he knew immediately what the problem was, the rack and pinion was leaking steering fluid. This issue has been common enough that the parts have been constantly on back order.after research online i have found many of the same complaint. How many complaints does it take?

2006 dodge grand caravan automatic sliding door opens approximately 8 inches; then stops.must manually open the remaining distance.same incident when closed.door automatically closes until about 8 inches from "fully closed".must manually close door remaining distance.

The contact stated that the rear driver's side sliding door could not be opened. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the rear passenger's side sliding door had to be unlocked manually in order for the door to open. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 75,000. The vin was unavailable.

Driver side sliding door stuck in locked position. Unable to unlock using door lock switch, upper console door switch, key fob or manually. Passenger stuck and had to crawl out different door.

Automatic door locks on rear sliding doors with powered door closures. The cam that allows the door lock/unlock circuit to complete gets out of position and blocks the lock/unlock from occurring. Happens whenever an object blocks the door from closing. Door will not lock/unlock via buttons for 16 attempts in a row, regardless of time between interrupt and attempt to lock/unlock. Could hamper vehicle evacuation.

Was driving about 35 mph and sliding door came open while the car was in motion and doors were locked and child lock was engaged on that side.it has also happened on the passenger side as well on the interstate at highway speeds.

*takata recalls" my sliding side doors on both sides scratches the sides of my van on the exterior.

Rusting body panels can result in severe safety issues in near future, even with great care, some vehicles are prone to the rusting body panels. The 4th generation (grand) caravan isn't the exception which had excessively aggressive rust forming on the body panels. My grand caravan currently has just over 65000 miles with rust forming on major panels. I personally took overly attention to the vehicle maintaining and caring by waxing and washing the vehicle the proper way, yet the vehicle is piling with more and more rust each week. On the road, i haven't got to see the dodge caravan that has no rust what so ever. Therefore, the rusting has to be the most concerning issue for the caravan owners.

Sliding door lock actuator froze up. This renders the sliding door completely inoperable. If that door was needed foregress, it wouldn't be available.

Coming from a christian camp driving on the 5 south in castaic lake the rear right tire part of the outer layer came off then it went flat this is tires 215-75r 15.i show to firestone the tire they did not honor the warranty ,then i had two more tires blown it was a total of three in less than a year.

My 9 year old son reach back into my 2006 dodge caravan sxt and was hit by the door. It is an automatic door that is supposed to stop and retract when there is any obstruction in it's path. It did not stop. It pinned him against the side rail and he received bruises on his arm.

I own a 2006 dodge grand caravan with only 48,000 miles on it.the power sliding doors have stopped operating properly.the doors will close about eight inches and then open back up without closing all the way.tonight the door has opened and will not close manually or electrically.so my van is in my drive way with the door wide open and will be there all night until i figure it out tomorrow. Many people that i know with these vans have the same problem after a few years of owning them.something has to be done.it is not safe to leave a vehicle outside with the door open all night.i can not get the door to close no matter what i do.chrysler/dodge should have implemented a safety mechanism that would allow an owner to be able to manually close the door if it malfunctioned.they should be held accountable for this problem, issue a recall and fix this problem for the many, many customers that have bought their products through out the years.

2006 dodge grand caravan sxt.sliding doors are inconsistent with operation and create concern for a quick exit in an emergency situation.the sliding passenger doors either will not open with the remote key set or will not open entirely with any of the door release buttons on the interior of the vehicle.this has impacted both the driver side and passenger side sliding doors.inability to open these doors without support of an adult has created concern for a quick exit in an emergency situation for all passengers.to open these doors without support of the automatic door opening system is also very hard.the doors are heavy and often take several attempts to hold the (black) release button down to open the door(s).my children do not have the strength to do this on their own due to this mechanical failure.the button which you should be allowed to push and automatically open the doors (from either the front driver seat or the back two rear passenger buttons are not functional).from my research, of the dodge mini-vans, i'm finding this is a very common problem.i would like to have this researched to determine the need for safety recall action. If a 9 year old child and children in their early teens cannot open these doors on their own, this presents a major safety concern.we purchased this car new in 2006 and 3 years later, the problem started impacting both doors.i will attempt to bring the minivan into dodge to inspect but the information i've gathered has proven inconsistent outcomes with dealer repairs and even more concerning, an inability to fix this issue on a permanent basis.

The automatic sliding door on the 2006 dodge grand caravan sxt stopped the closing cycle within 6 inches of being closed.due to the cycle stopping, the door did not reverse thus trapping a 3 year old between the door and the frame.the driver had to walk around the van and manually push the door open the free the child.the door has not fully closed using the automatic sliding door feature since this occurred.

Automatic passenger sliding door will not open or shut completely with either buttons or fob. When the door is closed manually the door cycles to "pull" itself shut. My children noticed this also starting on driver side door as well. We believe a wire in the plastic black casing has shorted or been severed.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the side doors would open and close without the button being depressed. The dealer stated that the doors were not under recall. The vehicle had not been inspected. The failure mileage was unknown, but the current mileage was 170,000. The consumer stated the manufacturer was notified. Randomly, the doors also do not close. Updated 10/24/2012

I received a letter from chrysler stating it was not a manufacturer defect yeah right!!

Passenger side sliding door lock will not work with power swicths at 38000 miles.

2006 dodge grand caravan electric passenger door stops 6" after opening, when closing stops in the same place.82,000 miles- seems like a very common problem with others after doing research.

2006 dodge grand caravan - door does not fully close or open with automatic button - wire in door track was severed from multiple openings and closings - have seen on the internet that it has happened to a lot of other vans.

Passenger side sliding door will not lock by remote key. Driver side sliding door will not open or close by remote key or interior console key. I believe the system is defective and that switches are defective as well.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact attempted to open the passenger side sliding door, but it would not open when the remote door control was activated. The failure occurred for four years. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

Dt*: the contact stated the while pulling the lift gate down manually, the contact's husband pushed the button that automatically brings the lift gate down unaware that his wife was pulling the lift gate down manually.the lift gate jerked up hitting the contact in the face causing the contact's four bottom teeth to go through the bottom lip.the contact went to the hospital resulting in three stitches to the bottom lip.the dealership has been alerted.

While driving on busy urban highways with limited or no shoulder, the vehicle started making clunking noises, originating from the left side, when driving over bumps, potholes and other road irregularities. Not wanting to pull over in an area with limited shoulder lanes, i continued driving, but the noise became progressively worse over a period of 50 miles or so, to the point that i was actively seeking a safe place to pull over and check the vehicle. Before i had a (safe) opportunity to do so, a much larger clunk was heard, and the vehicle instantly experienced greatly impaired directional control. I immediately slowed, and was able to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop on the shoulder. Visual inspection immediately showed that the front driver side wheel had excessive negative camber. The strut shaft was also no longer mated to the steering bearing at the top of the strut tower, and was resting against the side of the strut tower. The top surface of the strut shaft had an irregular, rough feel to it, suggestive of brittle failure.after limping the vehicle down the nearest off-ramp (approximately 1/2 mile) at low speed (10 mph) i parked he vehicle, and had it towed to a local pep boys, which replaced both front strut assemblies.

I had suspension work completed on my vehicle (inner/outer tie rods, rack and pinion and control arms replaced by a shop) after driving back to texas i noticed both front tires were extremely worn and was close to a blow out. I contacted the shop about it and they refused to work with me. After taking my vehicle to a local repair shop the mechanic stated that the alignment appeared to not have been done and that the specs was off the charts. The mechanic contacted the shop that made the initial repairs and they denied not completing an alignment. I've had this vehicle for over 11 years and my tires have never worn this fast and it didn't happen until this repair shop did the suspension work on my vehicle. The shop needs to be investigated for unsafe maintenance practices. Their maintenance and lack of safety standards put the safety of my family in jeopardy, and they're still in denial of any wrong doing nor are they willing to provide me specs of the alignment they said they did. Photos are attached.

Noise similar to "bottoming out" can be heard coming from drivers side rear of vehicle when passenger compartment is fully occupied. Any dip in the road exacerbates the noise.

2006 dodge caravans have a dummy spare tire located near the gas tank subject to all weather conditions and they become dry rotted and can explode.there is no protection cover that previous dodge cars had. I had one blow as i was about to use it on the van. I sincerely no one has one blow while mounted near the gas tank.

Side sliding doors will not unlock manually or electrically. Extreme safety issue; have elderly parents and if accident occurred would not be able to get them out!have replaced the actuator 3 times in last 2 years on driver side. Passenger side has been replaced twice. Why is there not a recall on these?

Sliding door lock actuator froze up.this rendersthe sliding door completely inoperable.if that door was needed foregress,it wouldnt be available!!

Car was parked. I had opened door manually.thought it wasn't fully opened; hit power button on door jamb to open fully. Then leaned against door with left hand and bent over to remove ice tracks from shoes.door closed instead of openingand before i could react it closed and locked on thumb and severed it completely just in front of knuckle . Sensors supposedly designed to prevent door closing on limbs did not work.sensors are supposed to prevent this injury, or so i thought. Car has 3buttons to activate doors: overhead console; remote key & inside door jamb.if sensor does not work power door could activated from any one of these locations by someone not fully aware of activity arounddoor to cause serious injury.

For years my power locks have not worked on my 2006 dodge grand caravan. Within the last year, not only do the locks not function, but the driver's side sliding door is locked, and i cannot unlock it. The cost to replace the door is equivalent to the the cost of a healthy down payment on a car, and the cost-prohibitive nature of the repair means that the door in question cannot be repaired. I would assert that the inability to open the doors on a passenger vehicle creates an danger to any would-be passengers. If there were an accident, then a perceived method of egress is rendered unavailable by these faulty parts.

Driver side sliding door is locked and can't be unlocked manually or with fob or overhead button. Very worried about passengers not being able to exit during an emergency. *dtconsumer stated she will take it to her local dodge dealer.

My husband and i got this vehicle last year from a buy here pay here place. It is almost paid off but almost the entire time haveing van it keeps dieing while driveing. We keep asking the dealer why it is doing this and they have no idea what is wrong. It is not safe to be driveing this van. I have a 6,5,4,1 year old and my husband and self in van. We have almost been in a car accident at least 10 times because the van keeps dieing while driveing, put it in park whenever the vehicle stops rolling unable to steer out of the way because car powers off and stops running. Someone please help i don't want my family killed or injured because the van keeps dieing while driveing and no one knows why

Van stalls after filling the grand caravan with fuel. Loses steering and speed.

As i'm driving down the road the accelerator sticks, and i can't undo it. The van starts slowing down i have to pull to the side of the road to stop the vehicle, and to try and get the accelerator unstuck . This has happened multiple times. Sometimes the vehicle's engine shuts down on its own when this happens. Sometimes i have to stop the engine to get the accelerator to unstick. I have noticed that the majority of the time that this happens is when i'm driving in between 55 to 60 mph. It happens so frequently that i am scared to drive in multiple lane traffic in fear that it will stick when i'm in a middle lane and start slowing down and somebody hit me from behind or be stuck in the middle with no way out because it wont start. When the accelerator sticks the vehicle starts slowing down and i start to pull to the side of the road and start to try and stop it. If i don't pull to the side of the road the vehicle will stop in the middle of the road and possibly shut down. I have read other reports of the same thing happening with the same model. I feel that this should be addressed before someone gets seriously hurt or worse killed. Thanks.

I was driving home from work and my gas pedal was stuck. This has happened several times in the last month. April 10,11,& 25,2014; may 6, 12,& twice on 23,2014.

On four separate occasions my 2006 dodge grand caravan se gas peddle got stuck. Three times while driving it got stuck. It didn't accelerate but slowly reduced my speed. I had to step on it repeatedly it get it unstuck. The fourth time i was in park and trying to reverse and it was stuck, very hard that i couldn't press it down. I called chrysler and they refuse to do anything. They said i had to pay to get it fixed myself.

We had a snow storm on 2/6/10.after the snow fall my husband moved our 2006 grand caravan sxt from the driveway to the street to cleanthe driveway.while talking to a neighbor the rear glass popped and shattered into a million pieces.there were no cars that passed and may have kicked up debris causing this incident.also the glass was clear of snow and ice.the only thing i can think of is that the car was parked in the shade and then my husband parked it in the sun.perhaps the cold weather caused this?i called dodge to see if there was a recall but there was none.

Wipers stopped working during storm in july 2014 and only work when put on fastest speed now when they do work and sometimes won't work at all. I must continually turn on and off to activate.

We cant get the windshield washer fluid working. It worked fine when we first bought it at 64k miles.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the windshield wiper blades interfered with one another while used and were also bending. The failure was experienced numerous times. The contact replaced the blades with shorter blades however the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure.the failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 89,000.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated when he closed his driver's door the tailgate window shattered into pieces. The vehicle was not taken to an dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnosis nor was it repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.

I turned on my car and started driving and my windshield wipers came on all by themselves and wouldn't go off as i was driving. When i stopped the car and turned my car off, and turned my car back on, my wipers wouldn't come back on. It has been raining a lot and i have no windshield wipers. This is very dangerous and i have almost had a wreck with my children in the car because of this.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the rear window (vent window) on the left side blew off of the vehicle and almost caused a crash to occur. Prior to the failure, a passenger noticed that the window looked as if it were open although it was closed. He took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that they could not assist him with a free repair. The manufacturer has not been notified. The vehicle has not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were 43,464.

My husband was driving our 2006 dodge grand caravan on the highway when the driver's-side, rear window blew into the car.it concerns us because, as a parent, one of my children could have been sitting in the third row and would have been seriously injured.thankfully it did not cause an accident to which the actual cause (of a "broken window") would have never been realized.i am not sure whether this is a safety defect or an anomaly, but i would like my complaint to be recorded based upon these concerns.the window was replaced, and is not available as the window shattered.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan.the contact stated that the driver side windows malfunctioned.the switch that controlled each window was inoperable and only the master switch on the front driver side window was able to activate the other windows. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic for a diagnostic test.the mechanic checked to see if the switch on the driver side door had any power and it did not.the power window switch caused other components in the vehicle to malfunction as well.the contact replaced the switch but that did not remedy the problem.the mechanic then replaced the esm module but to no avail.the contact also stated that the power locks had malfunctioned, making it very difficult to enter and exit the vehicle. The contact did not take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection or repairs.the failure mileage was 85,000. Kmj

While driving in severe rainy conditions, the windshield wipers would operate intermittently untilfinally they failed completely. The driver was able to reach his destination without a crash. She contacted the manufacturer. She was advised that her vehicle identification number was excluded from recall campaign id number 06v067000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer:motor). No repairs were made.the current and failure mileages were under 45,000. Updated 1/11/09 updated 01/13/10.

At 3851 miles on my 2006 dodge grand caravan, the motor on the windshield wipers suddenly stopped working, in the middle of a torrential downpour, which was immediately followed by a burning electrical smell.i was able to, very slowly and carefully, drive the car back home.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the studs on the wheels were fracturing. The mechanic advised that the studs were fractured because they were too soft and weakened over time. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the studs and the manufacturer advised that there was nothing they could do to assist. The failure mileage was 97,000.
