I was driving and the passenger side airbag deployed.there was no one in the passenger seat and no accident to cause the airbag to blow.

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact crashed into another vehicle. The contact sustained a head concussion, left knee injury and suffered body pain. The driver side seat belt webbing would not secure tightly and caused the driver to strike the steering wheel. The air bags failed to deploy with the impact involved. A police report was filed of the incident. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer and repaired for the body damages. In addition, the power train control module, senor and coils were in the process of being replaced by the dealer.the failure mileage was approximately 70,000. The vin was unavailable.

Air bag light comes on intermittently and goes off within 5 seconds. Happens mostly when i turn.

My airbag light is constantly on and i suspect something is wrong with driver's side air bag in the steering as i feel that something may be wrong with the steering as well as i hear noises while turning. This is for my 2004dodge grand caravan.

Dt: on july 14, 2005 the vehicle quit in the middle of highway. Was able to get it restarted, andwa staken to the dealer, whoindicatedit was acomputer problem. The computercontrolle dthe electronic function of the vehicle. Before it had slipped into neutral once in july of 2003. Also, once before icame out to start it and it would not start.it did not turn over or make any type of noise . Thiswas in december of 2004.

Power windows and doors fail to work.

Power locks stoped working.

We have a dodge grand caravan with electric side doors. The motors mechanism has stopped the ability for my daughters to be able to open them manually. If we were in an accident i am afraid that they would not be able to open them to get out. When the van was under warranty dodge replaced one that was not as bad as they both are now.

I have an 04 dodge grand caravan. Having problem with the headlight module. Now this problem has been going on scents the 2000 caravans. When is this going to be recalled and fixed by dodge???? do we have to wait when someone is hurt or killed in a car accident????? dodge clams they have the best vehicles on the road???? well prove it. This is owner 5th dodge mini van and i think its are last dodge ever. This has to be addressed and fixed asap!!! please recall the head light module on all dodge caravans. Canada and us.

We have 2004 grand caravan. We have an electrical issue where the gauges all go out, the doors locks or don't work and the lights stay on when driving, whenever it feels like it. We have had it serviced five times for this issue, changing the control module as well as codes and other items and it is not fixed and now considered as a "lemon". The dealership which is doing the servicing is offering us a new vehicle with a standard trade in value. We find this unacceptable and know our states lemon laws as well as i am in the military and find this a safety issue for my family.

Dashlights and back up lights stopped working completelyairbag errorlight sometimes its on , sometimes not.attempted to purchase rebuilt body control module, but was informed it is illegal to sell one.when you cannot repair or replace a part, it seems like the manufacturer should be obligated to recall and replace this part when defective, which, investigation shows to be common problem.i cannot pass inspection with inoperable back up lights and if airbag light is on, but cannot buy replacement part.it sucks to own a disposable vehicle.

Engine started missing, vibrations from engine.diagnosis electrical fault.wiring harness brittle form harness being placed on, over and next, snaked around exhaust manifold, causing premature wiring failure. Fuel injector wiring harness unshielded in side of intake manifold / plenum.wiring harness poorly shielded.this is a deliberate, intentional design / engineering to snake wiring harness around exhaust manifold.causing wiring harness failure.using sub-standard wiring components and not using shielding to cause pre-mature failure. Installing pcm (computer) in wheel well for pre-mature failure exposed to salt, road debris, water, etc.pcm installed in open area of vehicle prone to failure.consequential safety issues.

3 months after buying my van the drivers door is giving a heavy shock. This led up to the replacement of the body control mod (bcm). My car was repaired but after 11 months the same problem happened and dodge will not cover it. The symptoms are as follows the drivers door lock switch does not lock but will unlock all the other switches are fine .

Vehicles headlights intermittently will not turn on.there have been multiple times when the lights worked fine when leaving the house and then would not turn on when leaving to return home. This has caused us to drive home on multiple occasion with no headlights, obviously a very dangerous situation.we have taken it to multiple mechanics and have not had anyone find a problem, they always seem to work when we take it in.we replaced the switch to no avail.we simply do not drive it when we think we will be out after dark.there seems to be a lot of other people with this same problem online, please make dodge find and fix this problem.

Park the van,go out and van will not start-no radio or lights left on.dealership has checked the battery several times and said it was not the battery yet it still does it and this is going on to two years now.

The headlight switch and mirror adjustment switch on our 2004 dodge grand caravan has provisions for lighting - but they do not light up when you switch on the lights.in my opinion this is a safety issue - if you need to adjust the mirrors at night you have to fumble for the switch.same issue with the lighting switch.earlier models had lighting available for these two switches.i think dodge (daimler-chrysler) has a safety issue here.when i e-mailed the dodge customer service i was told there are proprietary reasons for the lack of lighting.i think this is a safety issue - anything you can do?

Exposed, unprotected wiring in cargo area.

For the past four years or so, almost every time after filling up the gas tank, the 2004 dodge grand caravan anniversary edition stalls.i can be just pulling away from the pump when it happens, or stopped at a stop light within a few minutes from leaving the gas station.you can feel the car 'jump' like someone is pressing the gas pedal quickly and it jerks the van a bit forward.then it stalls.it takes a few turns of the key and pressing the gas pedal very quickly and forcefully to get it started again.i have gotten into the habit of driving the van around a parking lot for a few minutes until it feels back to normal before pulling out into traffic, as i'm concerned it will stall out in the middle of traffic.this only happens right after filling up the gas tank.it concerns me now more than ever since my son is learning how to drive and i want him to be safe.

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated while driving, the vehicle overheated without warning. The failure occurred several times. The contact stated as precaution the vehicle was stopped to allow the engine to cool down. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer nor was the manufactured notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 213,000.*dtconsumer stated after changing the thermostat pieces of plastic came out of the motor. Problem with overheating has occuredfor 4 years. *dt

After taking on gas, engine will sometimes stumble and most of the time quit running. Tried not over filling it and it still will just die sometime after taking on gas. On two occasions, it did this after hitting highway speeds. It would suddenly lose power and you had to pull off the road. It would normally start back up and have no more problems until next fill up.because of this, we don't fill up and hit the road. We drive around before driving at highway speeds. Once, it died in front of several cars and a big truck had to brake hard and swerve off the road. So far, there has not been any known accidents but feel it is a matter of time before someone gets hurt. The mechanic said it was something wrong with a valve in gas tank and that you can't buy the part.we don't loan our van to the kids anymore since my oldest daughter almost caused a wreck and almost got hit when the van lost power.

Since this date, after every fill up, the car will hesitate, backfire, and in many cases die.the car can be restarted, and then will operate with no difficulty.on one occurrance the backfire was so pronounced that it blew the air cleaner off, breaking all of the mounting clips.the car must be driven very carefully after a fill up due to this condition.you cannot rely on getting into heavy traffic due to the hesitation and frequency of the engine die out.i have taken this car in to the dodge dealer on more than one occassion and they claim no knowkledge of the issue.i write this because there was an article in the kenosha news, dated wednesday may 15th, 2013 which detailed 3 chrysler, dodge brand cars probed for this same issue.they mentioned only v8 engines, but i want to let someone know that this issue includes others such as my 3.3l v6.i am sure that i am not the only one to experinece this problem.

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan. After refueling the vehicle and driving at various speeds, the engine stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle, but the failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

This incident occurs every time i fill up with fuel. It began at approximately 35,000 miles and continues until this day at about 116,000 miles.incident description:i enter the gas station. I fill up with fuel until the pump stops, not a "top-off". I start the ignition and begin to drive away. The engine stutters and sometimes stalls completely. After a short distance, 3 miles or so, it runs normally.recently after my knee surgery, my wife was driving and pulled out into traffic, left hand turn, after a refuel. We were trying high-test ethanol free gasoline. Well she made it into the center turning lane and waited her turn. When an opening arrived she pressed the accelerator and the van started and failed completely, leaving us half-way in the lane for oncoming traffic. Thankfully the oncoming traffic slowed as they blew their horns and she was able to restart the van and begin to drive.this was a most miserable experience especially since we had all three of our small children in the van with us. Something really needs to be done to correct this ongoing and dangerous issue.

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan. The contact was driving 15 mph when the smell of burned rubber emitted inside of the vehicle and flames were visible from under the hood. In addition, the head lights failed to illuminate intermittently. The vehicle was destroyed and the fire was extinguished. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but not repaired. The cause of the failure was unknown. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired and the vin was unavailable. The failure and the current mileages were 121,000.

2004 dodge grand caravan customer has concerns with the timing belt**nar**ccthe crank was undersized on the bearings and the bearings were undersized creating a large gap between the bearings and the crank which was causing the noise knocking noise in the engine. A foreign piece of metal was found under the main bearing cap which caused extra clearance. And the crack was only touching two-thirds of the bearing surface.

In january 2011, i had to replace the catalytic converter in my vehicle and it has been running fine untilnow.last week, my check engine light came on and i made a service appt. With mckinney dodge in easley sc to get it checked out. I was called today (04/02/2013) and was advised the same part needed to be replaced again. The service department advised the part only had a 12 month warranty.i told him this was unacceptable for a part that was very expensive to only have a 12 month warranty. He provided the chrysler customer service # (1-800-992-1997).i called them and the lady reviewed the record, and restated they could not assist, as it only had a 12 month warranty. The vehicle mileage is now a little over 156,000.i have put around 45,000 miles on the car since january 2011. I have had this van for years, and how could the original part on the vehicle last for many years, and then a replacement part only last a little over 2 years.i asked had the quality of their vehicle parts gone down from when the original vehicle was made. She had no response, but provided your website and to find out if there were any similar complaints on the catalytic converters on other chrysler or dodge vehicles. I told them i would not be purchasing another chrysler or dodge product. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan. While driving 45 mph, the temperature gauge on the instrument panel started going to the red side; indicating that the vehicle was having trouble regulating the engine cooling system. The contact also stated that there was a strong odor of fuel entering the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump and carbon filter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

After going through water puddles, the car became difficult to steer.the wheel turned but as if the engine was off.the car also hesitates as if the engine will stall.

Periodically, the engine of our 2004 grand caravan sputters and dies without warning.typically this happens right after filling the gas tank.upon leaving the gas station, the van runs normally for a minute or two, then cuts out all together.usually this happens just as we are pulling out of the station into traffic.once the van is re-started, it runs roughly for a minute, then quite normally.this first occurred in late 2009 and happened infrequently for a time.the older the van becomes, the more frequently it happens - now on almost every fill-up.related to this issue, periodically after starting the van at home, with a nearly full tank of gas, it runs fine for a minute or two, then the engine seems to go into idle and completely fails to respond to the gas pedal.typically this happens after stopping at a stop sign near home.the engine runs, but there is no acceleration.we drift to the side of the road, brake to a stop, wait a minute (sometimes shift to park), then try the gas pedal again.the van will respond normally at that point and run for the rest of the day without further trouble.(this seems to happen more often when outside temperatures are between 50 and 65 degrees.) we have had the vehicle examined a number of times by several very reputable auto services and none have been able to identify or correct the problem.

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle would intermittently stall without warning. The vehicle would immediately restart and the contact stated that the failure only seemed to occur when the fuel tank was full. The contact planned to have the vehicle inspected or repaired, if needed. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 72,000.

1. Metal coolant lines going to rear heater failed ,massive corrosion where the heater hose attaches to the pipe completely rotted/rusted out, the vehicle had 75k miles on it.2. If the coolant level gets too low of course my engine will overheat and seize.3. The steel pipes need to be replaced for aluminum pipes or corrosion protection from the factory that's needed to withstand harsh climes, especially ones where salt is used to deice roadways.

We have had our van in for service and oil changes in the past. The engine had less than 40,000 miles and was using almost 4 quarts of oil in less than three months. The last time it was serviced, the dealer could not find any reason why it was using oil. They said to keep an eye on it by checking it frequently, and they could try to monitor it to see why we were loosing oil. We could always find small spots of oil in our driveway and on parking areas/garage floor. The dealer did check the vehicle and said they could not find any oil leaks. They did however find a leak in the transmission line, which did not explain why we were having to replace oil on a regular basis. We had just placed 4 quarts of oil in the van two days prior to the service appointment. The van was totaled in an automobile accident the next month, so we were not able to follow up on the oil leak problem but felt that we should report this problem since other dodge caravan owners have had the same problem where they have low mileage on their vehicle, and oil loss for no known reason.

We have had numerous and repeat problems with our 2004 dodge grand caravan and we get no help from the dealer or the manufacturer.the main complaint that is most concerning is our brakes as we have had to replace them 3 times in less than a year.we have terrible shaking, vibration and grinding. The vehicle has pulled to the right from the moment we purchased it, i thought it was out of alignment but they have not been able to correct the problem although it has been in several times.coincidentally it is the right side that wears more than then left.upon taking it to an aaa approved auto center and ase it was found that the calipers have been binding and the rotors were too thin to machine.we have kept the parts that the repair shop removed so that the condition and wear can be documented physically should a representative of dodge wish to see the actual parts.we paid over 32,000 for this vehicle 18 months ago and it consistently under performs and as mentioned above has had several mechanical problems but the reliability of the braking system is more than inconvenient and expensive, it is a safety concern.i do not trust the dealership to correctly diagnose and the dealership and manufacturer maintain that this is vehicle is performing as intended.therefore we must conclude that the 2004 dodge grand caravan is designed to perform poorly and be in the shop regularly.updated 11/4/2005 - the rear windshield wipes have been repaired on two separate occasion but they still don't work.the ses light illuminated and the vehiclewas taken tot he dealer.they diagnosed the problem and found fault codes for cylinder #3 misfire and multiple cylinder misfire.the dealer installed spark plugs, replaced pluf wires and flashed the pcm.

I had continually added oil every month starting after about 10,000 miles. I changed oil every 3-5,000 miles. Driving back from up north and i heard a ticking noise. I had checked the oil level before our trip on 8-3-07 and added 2 quarts of oil to bring it up to full. As we had the windows closed as the temp had fallen to chilly, i could no longer hear the noise until we were within mile of our home. It became louder and as we pulled into the driveway, it was very loud. I was going to bring it to a dealership to get it checked out the next day, but the van would not start. I had it towed to the closestdealer and they looked at it the next day and told me that the engine had blown.they told me to contact chrysler as they would too. I did and they told me it was not going to be covered due to lack of maintenance. They wanted oil change records and i did some myself but had 3 from a local repair shop. They wanted 2 more and i could not supply these as i had done them myself. I did have a receipt for the oil i added in last july, but that was it.i have about 37,000-38,000 miles on the van. The dealership wants me to pay for the tear down of the engine even though i was told the first week that chrysler had ok'd the tear down to find the problem. Now the dealership called me and wants me to pay for a tear down so they can look into why it broke. I told them , you already told me that you had the ok to do this and it should be already done. I went to the dealership and the van was on the hoist and was particularly disassembled. The dealership wants me to pay for the tear down and a new engine that will cost almost $5,000.i have it documented on at least one oil change thatit had used 2 quarts of oil between changes.i had no leaks below my van so i was unaware that this engine was eating oil. Other than having to add some every month. More if you need it.

When in drive and sitting at stop light or still the motor runs rough.it feels like the engine will shut off.

Van felt like it was going to stall when at a stop light or stop sign or if idling.also battery died twice within first year. High pitched squealing developed about 6 months after purchase.the van vibrates, especially steering wheel once speed exceeds 50 mph.the dealership replaced the battery and also the alternater due to a defective mechanism.the squealing has stopped.adjustments were also made to reduce the rough ride of the vehicle.the vibrating still occurs and it is not smooth when on the highway going at speeds in excess of 50 mph.

Dt: consumer's wife was driving near home and lost power steering and power brakes.she was able to stop the vehicle by standing on the brakes.the dealership was called and they pick up the vehicle. They replaced the serpentine belt and pulley.a year later while driving on the interstate the serpentine belt fell off again in the middle of heavy traffic.the consumer had to pull to the side of road.the dealer was called and they determined that the serpentine belt and pulleyhad broken again. Itwas repaired.called themanufacturer to report the problem.the manufacturer said that there was nothing they could do about it.no more problems as of yet.

Right rear tail light lens (cover) have a tendency to come apart. It happen to my sister in law 2004 dodge grand caravan, twice. First it was under warranty, second, we saw it before it's came apart. I have seen same model that don't have lens cover .

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that each time she added fuel to her vehicle it stalled. All of the gears illuminated and the brakes locked. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic and then to the dealer but they could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not called. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 90,000.

The 3.8l engine stalls after almost every fuel fill-up and began in early 2010.within 1-2 miles after a fuel up, the vehicle will buck and sputter and often turn off completely.it gets better after 3-5 miles.it apparently is a known issue with many dodge owners, not just minivans.i had two 2006 dodge chargers (r/t and srt8) that both did the same thing.i no longer own the chargers but still have the 2004 caravan.this a dangerous and unpredictable issue that has something to do with the tank mounted vapor separation valve and the vapor return system.the vehicle is not "topped off" when fueling which has been known to create the issue.thanks.

Noticed fuel smell and vehicle stalling or hesitating after fueling, found fuel leak coming from very small cracks on fuel pump housing top located on the passenger side of the van close to the exhaust system.

This incident occurs every time i fill up with fuel. It began at approximately 35,000 miles and continues until this day at about 116,000 miles.incident description:i enter the gas station. 2004 dodge grand caravan fuel tank vapor float vent failure.vehicle has 59,000 miles.after fueling vehicle it will stall intermittently at stop signs and on open highway without warning, because fuel is getting into the engine and flooding engine out via the tank venting vapor system. When fueling, a float in the orvr (onboard refueling vapor recovery) valve is designed to rises and seals the tank vent causing pressure build, backing fuel up into the fill neck and shutting it off. The orvr is apparently not sealing completely or at all, allowing liquid fuel to pass into the vent line to the vapor canister and then engine.the valve is plastic welded to the tank, which requires the tank to be replaced.major safety issue because the power steering system stops when engine stops and vehicle is not able to be steered without the power steering aid.vapor system failure fully described at:http://www.justanswer.com/questions/1ob81-2005-dodge-caravan-stallspresently only keeping tank fuel at a maximum of 3/4 full to avoid flooding the vapor vent system.

2004 dodge grand caravan stalls after filling up with fuel, hard to start back up, dealer did not have answer, already changed gas cap and car still stalls about 80% of the time after filling up..

Every time i fill up the van, as soon as i pull out of the gas station it will idle rough, hesitate, or die all together. I could have 1/2 tank and add maybe 5 gal of gas and it will do the same thing. I saw online that i am not the only one that had this issue. It ranges for different years and come to find our it has to do with a valve above the tank and cant be replaced singly but the whole tank for $1600 plus labor. This is a safety issue because this thing has happen in the middle of an intersection while turning.i called melloy dodge here in albuquerque nm and they right shot me down about as quick it took to dial the phone number.

Our 2004 dodge grand caravan will stall out driving down the road if you fill the gas tank until the gas pump nozzles stops automatically. The only way to stop this is to replace the gas tank because of a bad valve in the top of the tank in the emissions system. I found this information on line. It has done it several times and we now under fill the tank which is not easy to do.

For the last 40,000+ miles the vehicle always stumbles or stalls after filling the fuel tank full. We're not talking about overfilling, just filling it until the auto shut-off shuts off the flow. It will buck and stumble when you are driving down the road and often dies when you are pulling out into traffic. It has stalled on my wife while she was waiting to turn left at a busy intersection. Once re-started it runs fine until the next fill-up. The dealer told me it is the purge solenoid and it would cost $190 to fix. The vehicle has 92,000 miles on it and i thought that was well below the federal emissions warranty and it also has the extended 100,000 mile warranty. I have not had it fixed yet, but just avoid topping off the tank. The date listed below is only the most recent. We are talking about literally dozens of failures of this sort -- every single time the gas tank is filled to the auto-stop without fail. The service guy at the dealership said they have had a number of complaints of this type about this vehicle.

Dt:the consumer stated the location of the fuel tank causes it to be susceptible to damage and cause leaking which can lead to a fire hazard.

Shortly after filling up with gas, i often experience difficulty with the vehicle.it sometimes stalls.it acts up within a minute or two by trying to stall.i try to give it as much gas as i can and it eventually stops acting up if it doesn't stall first.the dealer says they cannot replace the fuel filter, because it is part of the whole gas tank setup.it is not replaceable like most fuel filters are.it seems to me that it is the fuel filter needing to be cleaned.i do believe it is ruining my fuel pump slowly.i am concerned about when it stalls that someone may run into the back of me.

The fuel pump has hair line fractures in multiple places of fuelpump in and is leaking gas looks like its been there for awhile but i just noticed it in july iv been reading up on it and there's. Been alot of people with the same problemwith 04 dodge grandcare vans sxt and others models also...... Thanks.

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that when the vehicle was being refueled to capacity, the fuel level indicator would not register the amount of fuel in the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that they would have to replace the fuel tank. The vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 87,000.

Engine stalls within a mile or so after filling fuel tank.issue began at 31,000 miles and vehicle currently has 35,280 miles.has occurred every time fuel tank is filled since the first incident at 31,000 miles.

For a year or so my wife and i could smell gasoline fumes in the garage at night. I checked engine gas filler under car, but was unable to identify source of gasoline fumes. Finally about w week ago the smell of fumes was stronger. I looked under the car and noticed a wet spot on garage floor. I put the car on jacks crawled under the car and could see fuel oozing from a fitting on fuel line that was connected to the top of the tank. This fitting is some sort of quick disconnect in which you can turn easily on the white plastic fitting on top of the tank. We are now parking auto outside fearingthe fumes could ignite in the garage from hot water heater. Is there a possible recall on this problem?

Engine stalls out 10 or 15 seconds after filling the gas tank.usually on the highway you are turning on to.its been doing this for a couple of years.

Every time i fill my tank (i do not top off), within a few minutes of leaving the station, the van dies. It normally re-starts, but it takes quite a lot of gas pedal pumping. This is dangerous when it happens in the middle of an intersection. I had the fuel pump and filter replaced and that did not solve the problem. Now i understand that the valve on top of the tank is at fault, but you have to replace the entire tank. This is a design flaw and needs to be corrected.

I went to the gas station and filled my gas tank, not topping it off, and as soon as i turned out of the station on a major road the vehicle stalled and almost resulting in an accident. After a quick restart the van ran fine and i was able to drive from nashville, tn to atlanta, ga with no problems. But when i filled up again in atlanta, right after pulling out of the gas station the vehicle stalled again, in the middle of a busy intersection. This problem is widely reported across dodge and chrysler vans, with over 100 complaints on this website. I'm hoping this issue with the gas tank/sensors will be address. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that after refueling the vehicle, it stalled without warning. After several attempts the vehicle was able to restart but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

After filling the gas tank, within a few miles the vehicle will stall. Dodge already has extended the warranty on the fuel tank of vehicle built after september 2003 but mine was built august 5 2003 so it is outside their window. This is a very dangerous issue because it has happened to me on the highway at 55 miles an hour and i then have no power and need to get out of the way of traffic that is going to run me over.

The vehicle stalls out after filling at the gas station.reportedly due to an issue with the check valve and requires the entire fuel tank to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall immediately after refueling. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred on multiple occasions and in some instances the vehicle would stall up to two times before operating as normal. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 115,000.

My van left small fuel marks in driveway, i investigated it physically and found fuel to be leaking by fuel pump housing near a fuel line, i assumed it was leaking from the o-rings on quick disconnect line. I replaced o-rings and the problem still exists. Igoogled the issue and to my surprise there are many similar issues, people explaining how their vehicles where leaking in the same location. After browsing i found a website where there was a picture showing fractures on the housing near the fuel line that i had worked on. Sure enough i rechecked my vehicle and there were the fractures. Leaking fuel. I just wanted to post this on this website to inform other owners, that if they smell fuel from their van, they should get this issue checked asap. This is a real hazard, and could be really dangerous.

Beginning around august 2012, my 2004 dodge grand caravan anniversary edition began to sputter and stall if i ever filled the gas tank completely.if i did not continue to feed gas to the engine, the engine would stall.at stoplights i would need to put the car in park and rev the gas and then sit in park until i was able to move.this would continue for approx 2-3 miles. In summer 2013 it began happening even if the car was not filled to capacity. Repair shops tell me it's the type of gas or there is water in the gas line, but my research tells me this is a known caravan issue.my requests for repair investigations are not taken seriously.so my solution is to never fill the car beyond 3/4 tank - super inconvenient.as a result, the sputtering does not happen as much any more, but the situation is dangerous and scary.i am just waiting for the engine to fail in the middle of a busy road simply because i've gotten fuel.

While making left the vehicle stalled while in motion in the middle of major intersection. After a 20 or so seconds, the vehicle engine turned on.another incident, approximately a year ago, while traveling 60+ miles on major interstate, the vehicle again shut down while in motion.i had to coast the vehicle, with loss of power, to median on the interstate.after about a minute or so, the vehicle turned on.always upon filling the gas tank, the vehicle stalls while exiting the gas station or shortly thereafter.after a minute, the vehicle is able to turn back on.

The contact stated that fuel fumes were emitted into the vehicle. The contact exited the vehicle and noticed a small leakage. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection who stated that the fuel injector rail needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and they stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 47,000.

Every time we fill the fuel tank the caravan cuts off and rides very rough. The recall on the dodge caravan was on vans build starting on 09/01/2003 my caravan was builton 09/29/2013.

Hairline cracks in fuel pump outlet just before connecting to fuel line leads to strong fuel smell and fuel vapors all around vehicle.fuel pump needs replacement to repair this dangerous condition.highly suggest different fuel pump design that is not prone to hairline cracks and potential fire hazard as fuel leak is about one foot away from a hot muffler and a tossed cigarette or other spark could cause a fire or explosion.

Car shuts off after filling the gas tank. This has happened several times. Always on the road and in traffic.

After fueling the check engine light is now on and indicates an emissions leak which causes vapors to now build up inside the van after every refueling. If filled to capacity the vehicle will also stutter and sometimes completely stall shortly after fueling.

After filling my '04 grand caravan with fuel and attempting to leave the pump my caravan shuts off.this has been on an ongoing issue for over 2 years.after several repair attempts i was told today that the vapor separator valvelocated on top of the gas tank is faulty.a valve that dodge does not make available for repair.the only "fix" that is offered is to replace the entire tank of which i was told today would be $1600.

2004 dodge caravan electric door on passenger side fails to close midway.our concern is that if on a downward hill, if passenger uses button to close door and it disengages, my passenger could get seriously hurt.

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the door locks failed and the vehicle could only be locked manually. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have the failure diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 76,339.

Passenger side, power sliding door closed half way.now it doesn't power close at all.door doesn't open manually from the inside.while driving, door wasn't closed all the way and the door ajar light/alarm in the dash failed to warn me.

2004 dodge caravan locks won't stay locked while driving.

We have a dodge grand caravan with electric side doors. The motors mechanism has stopped the ability for my daughters to be able to open them manually. If we were in an accident i am afraid that they would not be able to open them to get out. When the van was under warranty dodge replaced one that was not as bad as they both are now.

Power locks stoped working.

Both of the slider doors are impossible to open from the inside the vehicle. I have to physically get out of the vehicle and open them from the outside. It seems that this happens after the car has been sitting in the sun all day. I brought it to my dealers attention, but all that could be explained is the latch inside must have swelled. I feel that this is a very dangerous problem, because in the event of an accident how are people supposed to open the doors, if needed. Since i have moved from michigan to florida it is worse than before before, and some of my friends have refused to drive in the vehicle for that reason.i have looked at both of the doors, but i can't tell how the lock mechanism works.

The sliding rt side door has opened electronically numerous times as the vehicle is moving down the road.motor was replaced, still continued to malfunction.latch was replaced, after the latch was replaced, the door will now not close electronically and still opens while the vehicle is moving.

The sliding door opened without warning while driving . The consumer had to manually close the door. Please provide more information.the consumer stated the the right sliding door has opened several times and tried to close on its own while driving as well as standing still.the motor and the latch have been replaced but the problem still exists.after the repair the door no longer closes electroncally when activated by button.*tc

2004 dodge grand caravan sxt v6-3.8l with appx 24,000 milesrough idle condition while stopped when transmission is in drive that multiple dealers cannot duplicate with computers, but can duplicate when sitting in the automobile. One service manager stated that the problem exists on all 2004 grand caravans with the 3.8l engine. Spark plugs and wires have been replaced, and pcm has been flashed to no available. If the problem is so common, then why isn't their a recall on this?

The transmission has failed three times.

2004 dodge grand caravan se developed problems with the seat belt on the front passenger side of the vehicle.***no answer required***. *mrthe seat belt could not be pulled out of it's housing.the consumer tried several time but was unsuccessful.the vehicle was taken to a dodge dealer but they could not duplicate the problem.since the dealer couldn't duplicate the problem they refused to replace the seat belt free of charge.the consumer paid out of pocket to have a new seat belt installed.

I was sitting in front driver seat turned to place an item into passenger seat and where the lower springs attach to seat back rest of the driver seat the seat frame snapped in half and the lower support arm that connects the two lower parts of the back rest together split.

Consumer states that front head rests are in the way when viewing through the rear window.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

My front brakes have to be changed every three months , my van will stall or act like its going to stall i have to give it gas and after i move for a few it stops, my van is constantly out of line which wears on the tires ,the metal coolant lines that go for the rear heat was rusted and corroded badly causing a huge leak , also the transmission cooler bracket locates in front of radiator broke causing a hole in the radiator, this has not only happened in my 2004 grand caravan but also in my elderly parents 2004 caravan. After reading through all the complaints i do understand that things will happen and go wrong and have to be fixed but when the dealership or the manufacturer doesn't show any interest in wanting to help the consumer there's not much a person can do that is until someone gets hurt and i can guarantee if it happens to be my family there will be an enormous law suit with a lot of publicity lets see how sales do after i get done.

The abs unit in my dodge grand caravan awdhas air going into it, causing my brakes to have no pressure. My foot goes all the way to the floor to stop my vehicle!!!! this is no good i carry three children in my car. I have heard from many mechanics that this is a very common problem in this vehicle and there hasn't been a recall on this. This is very serious. I don't know where i'm going to come up with the money to fix this. I'm basically riding in a death mobile. My husband has never scene soooo much air come out when he bleeds the brakes. Dodge should fix this problem immediately!!!!

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan.during the winter months, the brakes lock up intermittently.to unlock the brakes, the contact must move the vehicle forward and backwards several times.the manufacturer stated that they were aware of the failure and posted a technical service bulletin (05-001-06a).the current mileage was 42,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan. The contact stated that the rear brakes seized when trying to shift from park to drive. The contact would have to allow the vehicle to sit for a few minutes when the engine was turned on and when releasing from park. In addition, there was a loud clunking noise heard from the vehicle before the brake would release. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that they had to special order the parts for repairs but at the expense of the contact. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 85,000.

Master cylinder failed in rear brake system causing brakes to fail.brake failure was sole reason for rear end accident causing damage to two vehicles.

Replaced front brakes on 2004 dodge grand caravan for the first time on 8/31/05 when mileage was at 39,320.rotors were also resurfaced at this same time.on 4/22/06 at 46,806 miles brakes had to be replaced again, which were worn down metal to metal (in only 7k miles).front passenger side brake rotor was bad, and had to also be replaced from the front brake problem.both front brake calipers had to also be replaced at this time due to the rotors and brakes.(very expensive!!)on 7/6/06 at 49,179 miles, the front brakes were very shaky, and the front rotors were slightly warped, and had to be resurfaced again.on 10/17/06 at 52,762 miles, rotors had to be resurfaced again, since they were warped again.front brakes were done again on the vehicle, a little over 6k miles from the most recent brake replacement.on 12/11/06 at 54655 miles, the dealer could not find the problem, but decided to replace both front and back brakes.stated pad shims were jammed again adapter bracket, rotors were warped badly, rear brakes were out of adjustment, rattle clip missing.van at this time also had a bad pulsation when braking.dealer states pad shims were loose on pads and not aligned properly.front rotors resurfaced, and installed new front brake pads.rear brakes re-lined/replaced, rear drums resurfaced and replaced shoes.dealer still cannot find what is actually wrong with the vehicle that the brakes need to be replaced so frequently.

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan.the contact has been experiencing brake failures and the brake indicator would illuminate sporadically without warning.while driving 30 mph, the brake light illuminated and the contact attempted to stop the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal.the brake pedal extended to the floor.the contact crashed into the rear end of the preceding vehicle.the vehicle was severely damaged.the air bags failed to deploy and a police report was filed.there were no injuries.the vehicle had to be towed to his residence.the insurance company will send someone to inspect the vehicle.the contact received a ticket for "failure to keep a vehicle in control".he will callthe manufacturer because the brakes had to be repaired at least four times within the last two years.the failure mileage was 85,000.

After hurricane frances, i noticed that when i got into my car,( that had sat in the storm outside my home,) to drive two days after the storm , my brakes did not work properly . It was as if the abs was ingaged and suddenly grabbed.my husbands car did the same thing. So i think it is a daimlerchrysler issue. The same day as this occured, after about four or five miles it got better and i have had no noticeable problems.

Dt*: the contact stated the factory brakes were replaced and the rotors were resurfaced, at 39,320 miles.on 4/22/06, the brake pads, rotors and brake calipers were replaced at 46,806 miles.then on 7/06/06, at 49,179 miles, the warped rotors were resurfaced.on 10/17/2006, at 52,762 miles, the rotors were resurfaced and the brake pads were replaced again.then on 12/11/2006, at 54,655 miles, the front and rear brakes were replaced. The brake shims were found to be jammed and the rotors were warped again. The brake problem was noticeable while breaking at 15 mph. The manufacturer was not notified.

Took vehicle for state inspection-sudden need for new brakes per dealership-said bring it in with in 300-500 miles for brake job.

Park the van,go out and van will not start-no radio or lights left on.dealership has checked the battery several times and said it was not the battery yet it still does it and this is going on to two years now.

Sudden need for front brakes.

The brakes have been sqeaking and when i let off of them they feel like they are grabbing. There is also lots of brakes dust on my front rims. This has been since i bought the car 3/15/04. The service department at the dealers said the brake noise is normal. They checked the brakes on 3/17 and said they were fine. I took the vehicle back 8/17 because of the front end pulling and asked that they check my brakes again. The rotors were warped so they "turned the front rotors". I asked what could cause this and they said driving with 2 feet or it could also happen if the rotors are hot and it starts to rain and cold water hits them. They blame the driver. It only had 7539 miles on it. I took it back 8/23 because i do not hear or feel a change in the brakes. Theytest drove it and said it was normal noises that i was hearing and nothing is wrong.

During inspection dealership informed the consumer thatfront brakes wore out prematurely. The brakes were replaced.

After going through water puddles, the car became difficult to steer.the wheel turned but as if the engine was off.the car also hesitates as if the engine will stall.

Vehicle has 55,000 miles on it and rack and pinion assembly is leaking.based on research of other complaints, it is apparent that the rack and pinion assembly is defective and should be recalled.obviously this is a safety issue as it affects steering.the power steering doesn't fail, but it will deteriorate until all of the fluid leaks out and then possibly damages the power steering pump.this ultimately could cause the pump to lock up or in some cases, leak fluid on to the exhaust pipe and cause a fire.the repair cost for this issue is ~$800-900.my estimate was for $820 (excluding a new alignment).

The contact owns a 2004 dodge grand caravan.while driving 30 mph on a cold day, the power steering locked up.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the power steering hose failed and was previously replaced according to nhtsa campaign id number 04v38600 (steering: hydraulic power assist: hose, piping, and connections).the second replacement would cost $400.a report was filed with the manufacturer, but they declined to assist with the repair.the contact will have the vehicle repaired.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 101,000 and current mileage was 104,355.

2004 dodge caravan with 3.3 engine. Rack and pinion binding in turns. Corrective action had to replace rack and pinion. 83000 mileson van. Started out as a popping noise and got progressive worst.

Unusual grinding noise when braking and turning at the same time.

Every morning the steering growls and makes noise until the van warms up. The dealer that has done all repairs on the van says the rack is going out. I have watched the fluid, and see no leaks, nor have i had to add any to it. It seems there are hundreds of grand caravan owners with this same problem. My van, that i love, is a 2004 with 110,000 miles. I am going to change the reservoir to see if this fixes the problem. But i think dodge should pay for repairs when lots of their vans have the same problem, it is called defective material.

On three separate occasions my 2004 dodge grand caravan that has 11,500 miles has stalled.the first time the van stalled while trying to make a left turn out of a parking lot into traffic.the van was stuck in the road with cars coming from both directions, and luckily was not hit.the second time the van did not really stall, it just died back on dec 31st 2004 while going 50mph hour on a 6 lane divided highway.the van just died in the middle lane, nearly, causing an accident.the van did nothing when the gas pedal was pressed, and the power steering quit.we were able to coast off the road, put the van in park, and back to drive, and everything was okay.the third time back on january 9, 2005 the van died again while pulling out of a gas station.this time the car stalled, and the power steering quit.this caused us to loss control of the van, crossing into oncoming traffic with no shoulder, nearly hitting someone head on.i had the van in the dealer?s shop on january 11, 2005 and was told nothing is wrong with the van.how can a brand new van stall 3 times for no reason?the next time the van dies i may not be so lucky, and people may be injured.

Power steering reservoir filter clogs causing power steering failure. It is more severe in cold weather. Have had van in dealer multiple times and they observed the problem. Dealer and manufacturer agree there is a severe problem, but because they cannot identify the "exact component" causing the problem, they will not fix. Daimler chrysler refuses to fix under warranty or not. If this were isolated issue, i would ignore. But there are hundreds of cases posted online with same issue. Result is low speed and high speed steering failure.

Consumerstated that the manufacturer was notified as to why consumernever received a recall notice. Vehicle was valid as being a part of the recall.manufacturer had no explanation as to why consumer'svehicle was not registered with the manufacturer to be included with the current recall.

Dt: the contact stated that the front sway barvibrated t causingan overall roughness while driving.the contact tookvehicle to a dealer, who replaced the sway bars.also, the dealerreplaced the steering rack andupper strut bearing.no further problems since this repair was performed.

After approx. 15,000 miles the front suspension and steering felt very loose.i took it to the dealer and was told the front rack and pinion steering system was "worn out"it was fixed under warranty.i was told by the dealer that chrysler had purchased these parts from 2 sources and one of the suppliers parts were wearing out rapidly.the steering system was replaced.after 3 months and 6,000 miles later the steering system was again worn out and had to be replaced a second time.this is ridiculous for a vehicle that cost over $30,000.

Dt*: the contact stated after depressing the power sliding door button or using the power key fob, the right sliding door closed, but later became ajar without warning.this failure did not occur when the door was manually shut.the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who duplicated the problem, but was unable to determine what component of the sliding door was defective.the manufacturer was notified.

Passenger side, power sliding door closed half way.now it doesn't power close at all.door doesn't open manually from the inside.while driving, door wasn't closed all the way and the door ajar light/alarm in the dash failed to warn me.

Rear power liftgate on 2004 dodge grand caravan freezing in open position. 1st happened when vehicle was 6 mo. Old. Dodge replaced latch and reset door motor. 2 1/2 yrs later same problem and same resolution.

Consumer stated that he purchased a 2004 grand dodge caravan and it vibrated while driving.he stated it vibrated as if the tires were unbalanced.theconsumer stated the dealer had removed all the tires and had rebalanced them, but it did not help.he also stated that a chrysler engineer was called in and he was told that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle.he also stated he called the chrysler manufacturer and they told him that the vehicle was operating as designed. The consumer believed there was a problem, because no vehicle should vibrate while driving.

Sliding door locking activator failure prevents to door from being unlocked manually which is a big safety issue because rear passengers cannot exit them doors and therefore have to climb over the console and front seats to exit .. This is a big problem affecting all grand caravan and caravans with power lock and sliding doors. I will repeat this you cannot unlock the door manually if the actuator fails which prevents passengers from exiting the vehicle in the case of an emergency and chrysler needs to recall these vehicles and repair them so the locks can be unlock under all circumstances from the inside

My concern is with my sun-visors on my vehicle,,they will not stay up against windshield ,they stay about the 5 o'clock position,,dealer says allgrand caravans are like this,,now with this sun-visor at the 5o'clock position and you are a tall person , it partiallyblocks your view of the road ahead of you , so you choice is to not use the sun-visors or peak underneath them while you are driving...of course if you are 5' tall this would not effect you but if you are say over 5'10" could/would be a problem...thanks for your time,,,larry milloy
