Takata reccall. No remedy since mid 2016.it is now the end of 2016.if something happens with this air bag which is supposed to save lives and it causes damages instead there will be major litigation to follow... We need to be safe in these situations, not killed or maimed.

The manufacturer first sent recall notification in november 2014.i immediately responded to the local dealership to request remedy.i received a second identical notification a few months later to which i responded again to a different dealership.i have now received a third recall notice for the same problem (june 2015) and they manufacturer has not made these parts available to the dealerships.i am complaining about the timeframe for this matter.

I was told that it would take 30-90 days for a part to be delivered to my dealer.i received a recall notice about the airbag indicating that metal fragments could strike and potentially cause serious injury if my driver side airbag deploys.a thirty to ninety day wait is unacceptable.

Takata recalli called the dealer for the recall they say no parts and if im concerned to park the vehicle and not use it. However they don't offer a rental vehicle. I also called chrysler and say thing they don't want to provide rentalwhen i purchased this vehicle it was with the understanding that it was complete all the safety features where in working order know we discover that's not the case. Manufacture should repair and provide a rental until that happens.

I have repeatedly attempted to repair my dodge dakota's recall. Initially i contacted huntington beach chrysler dodge jeep ram and was told that my name would be placed on a list and i would be contacted. Nothing!i then contacted courtesy chrysler dodge jeep ram of orange county. Finally had the first recall repaired, but not the march 2016 air bag recall. I have called and contacted the second dealer since march 2016 to repair the air bags and have been told every time that the dealer has no parts, but that they will call me. It has now been one year...and i have never been called....by either dealer. Help!!

Takata recall: received notice s43 / nhtsa 16v-352 on july 18, 2016. It has been 3 months and parts are still not available for repair. This imposes a significant risk to any front seat passenger that an inflator rupture could result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death. I am especially concerned that since i live in an area with high levels of absolute humidity for extended periods of time that the at risk condition is more likely to occur. What can the dot do to see that these parts are expedited for those of us living on the texas gulf coast?

Takata recalli took this truck in for the recall, left the dealer and the steering locked up as i turned onto a road, i had to jerk it very hard to release the wheel and when it did release it made a snapping sound from the steering column in the area where the airbag sits.went back and told them what happened and five minutes later i was told my steering shaft couplers are bad.i never had this issue before, but they say i'm wrong as of now we are afraid to drive this vehicle.

I recently had a car accident going 40-45 mph in my 2007 dodge dakota crew cab, and the driver and passenger airbags did not deploy upon impact of the other vehicle that came into my lane of travel.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge dakota.while driving at approximately 70 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart; however, the failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was not diagnosed or repaired. Turns flashes right when signaling left,, flashes left when signaling right

Turn signal intermittently fails. Moving turn signal lever for a left turn, results in flashing of right front and rear indicator lamps. Very dangerous as approaching traffic makes incorrect assumption about which direction the vehicle is planning to turn.since intermittent, one never knows which indication (left or right) will result.found internet blogs where this same problem has been documented.

On two occasions this vehicle experienced a serious safety issue when intermittently the turn signals fail to operate simultaneously with the windshield wipers also stop working.this can happen at any time and is particularly dangerous while in traffic and in a heavy rainstorm without warning the windshield wipers stop.at the same time the turn signals become inoperable so the driver is left without visibility and the inability to notify fellow travelers that he/she must immediately move to the right hand shoulder until the rain stops.this problem happened to me in may of 2007.mileage on the vehicle was 23,125.the problem was identified by the dodge technician as a defective multifunction switch - part number 56049823ab.the multifunction switch was removed and replaced by dodge under warranty.the problem recurred in january of 2015.mileage on the vehicle at that time was 35,242 (12,117 miles driven) since the first incident.the problem was once again the multifunction switch -part number 56049823ab.i was told by the service manager that this problem could not be covered under warranty since i had exceeded the 3 year warranty period. I had to pay $125.95 to have the multifunction switch removed and replaced (again).everyone (including myself) knew when i took the vehicle in for repair exactly what the problem was.it appears that dodge has a serious repetitive problem with this integral part.and when this part fails it represents a dangerous safety issue - one in which death and/or serious injury can and will occur.

Multifunction switch had a internal fault the dealer replaced it on 12/30/09 the switch had to be replaced 2 weeks later because the switch replacement switch was bad. In 2010 after the truck out of warranty i had to replace it again. Now on 01/25/2012 the switch failed again which causes the turn signal to function incorrect ( left will turn on right, right will not work all orright will turn on left).

The contact owns a 2007 dodge dakota. The contact stated that the multi function switch became inoperable without warning. As a result, both turn signals, the windshield wipers, and the high beams were unable to be activated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 122,000. The vin was not available.

Vehicle would not start, they cannot get defective part and have no idea when one will be available it's been with the dealer over 30 days.

Driving vehicle and activating the left turn signal.the signal had failed causing the vehicle computer to fail and removing power from the transmission.the check engine light was illuminated and instrument panel lost power.diagnostic error indicated a bad shift indication.replaced switch and resolved issue.

Turn signals work intermittently, wipers also work intermittently, windshield washers will work when high beam is used also intermittent.

Turn signals are signalling wrong direction or no direction at all.

In my 2007 dodge dakota club cab 4x4, having stopped in a straight line, i activated the left turn signal.inside, it blinked rapidly as if to indicate a blown bulb.in may 2010, i replaced the right turn signal bulb and believed the left had now blown.after making the turn, i activated the signal again but it blinked "normally". The problem has not replicated itself since.

Driving between 35 and 45 mph. The engine shut off, the key had not been touched. The gas gauge dropped to nothing, the only light i noticed on the dash was the current mileage. I had no power steering, no power brakes, i rolled to the side of the road and put on my flashers, put the truck into park, turned the key off and then started the engine. It only failed once but if i was on a highway or in heavy traffic most likely my wife and i would have been in an accident.miles on truck was aprox. 2,900 milesdodge dakota quad cab 4 door, v6 automatic transmission, manufacture date is 5/2007i called the service department and they said without an engine check light on they may not be able to find the problem. I have a 3:00 pm appointment today. I told him he has 3 tries to fix it.

Engine stalled & would not restart for several minutes. Would eventually restart and run fine for about 10 minutes and then repeat the same sequence. Service engine light was flashing while it was running. Dealer could not diagnose problem.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge dakota.the contact stated that something is rubbing on the rim and chewing away the metal when he makes a hard right or left turn.the failure began in january of 2007 when he had a lowering kit installed on the vehicle.on one occasion, the wheel locked up and the contact had to jack up the vehicle to unlock the wheel.he believes the failure is an after market problem.the current mileage is 2,800 and failure mileage was 2,000.

When filling the gas tank, at the shutoff stage, it will shoot gasoline out of the neck which runs down the side of the vehicle onto the ground leaving a frisbee size puddle.this happens every time the tank is filled to the top.the only solution now is to try to time the fill up and stop it before its completely full.

Shortly after i bought the 2007 dakota 4x4 [v-6] 6sp. Manual trans] when upon passing a vehicle on i-5 the throttle stuck wide open. I stomped hard on the gas pedal several times until it released. I took it to lithia in roseburg ore. Where i bought the truck. They took it in, then when i picked it up they assured me they repaired the problem, they did not, it still does it and i almost plowed into a ditch on a nearby rural road. This truck had 6 miles on it when i took possession of it. Seems that it should not have these issues at this stage of the game. Currently it has 14,657 miles on it.

Dodge dakota st 4x4 extra cab. Rear passenger side rear door would not open. This was with only 14 miles on it. This was july 29 2007.i took possession of the truck july 28 2007. My wife went to open the door and it would not open, if a person was in the back and an accident happened, the front seats do not tilt forward and someone might get trapped. I took it in for repair and they said they [lithia jeep dodge ford of roseburg] adjusted it and ordered replacement parts but don't seem to be in a hurry to fix it. I took it in the 17th of aug. After calling earlier in the week being assured they would get right to it, when i took it in they said they were 'swamped" and were not sure if they could fix it in a timely manner.

On my 2007 dodge dakota, vehicle randomly engages 4wd mode without warning, causing momentary loss of control.my vehicle has done this twice so far, once at highway speeds.in addition, when vehicle enters 4wd drive mode, tight steering and other handling limitations exist, causing further possibility of losing control of the vehicle.there are several similar complaints regarding this defect on the nhtsa site, as well as searching google will indicate hundreds of dodge owners with similar experiences. This defect is a critical safety concern.

To whom it may concern,i want to inform this organization and future people whom would want to buy a 1/2 ton adodge ram or dakota to reserch it first. I took my 2007 dodge dakota 4x4 to the dealer with just over 60,000 miles due to the rear end making noise. The dealer found 1 retainer clip that holds the clutch packs to fail prematurely and cause servere damage to the rear differential. I need to replace the pinion bearings, carrier bearings, and clutch pack along with the same retainer clips that will break in another 60,000 miles or less. When i took my dakota to the dealer and explained to them my symptoms of rear end noise, they exactly knew what i was talking about. They told me they seen this on multiple dodge half ton trucks and dakotas. I asked if there was a recall, and they said chrysler knows about it and will not issue one. I was appaled to here so many owners of these trucks having to pay for a poorly deisgned differential with inherrient dangerious problems. If one of those clips broke while driving on the highway and my differential would lock up and i would get in a crash. I called chrysler head quarters for some type of assistance and was rendered with none. This problem needs to be fixed and addressed or people will be killed. This is not as serious as toyota's problem with their vehicles, but it took people to die in accidents for a recall to be issued. Lets not do that and get something rolling on this.thanks for you time.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

Vehicle: 2007 dodge dakota st club cab, 2wd, 3.7l v6, 42 rle automatic transproblem: at road speeds of 34-50 mph the vehicle shudders, vibrates, and sounds as though on a rumble strip. My research indicates that the powertrain control module has an error that incorrectly tells the torque converter to start the lock up range at too low an rpm, resulting in the engine and torque converter to not be synched correctly. This problem began shortly after i'd bought the truck at 71,100 miles. I'm at 71,500 miles now. The remedy is as little as reprogramming the pcm flash to as much as replacing the pcm, the torque converter, and transmission. I fear that the problem could result in catastrophic failure of the drive train components in a way that could result in a vehicle crash. There are two technical service bulletins of which i'm aware on the matter.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge dakota. The contact statedshe could change gears with out engaging the brakes. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included on any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 83,092.

Driver pulled truck into slightly inclined driveway and shifted into park. Vehicle was idling.both driver side and passenger side windows were open.driver put driver side power window up.the button to raise the passenger window from driver side does not work.so driver got out of vehicle, left the driver side door open and walked around rear to get to passenger side.passenger window was open. Driver unlocked passenger door, opened it, and put power window up.driver left passenger door open as there was something on the seat to pick up once vehicle was off.driver walked back around vehicle.as the driver was approaching the driver side to turn the vehicle off the vehicle started drifting backwards.driver tried to stop vehicle but momentum was too strong.open passenger door struck wooden mailbox post and vehicle stopped.vehicle drifted approximately 8-10 feet.damage in form of dents was incurredto passenger door.driver checked to see if maybe he had left the vehicle in drive, or shifted to reverse, not park.driver concludes the vehicle was in park.to check this, the driver reenacted the sequence with the vehicle in both drive and in reverse at the same position on the driveway.the vehicle left in drive did not move.the vehicle left in reverse immediately drifted backwards.the unknown is that in the original incident the driver estimates that the vehicle was in park for nearly one minute, if not more, before drifting.during this span the driver 1) put up the driver side window - 10 seconds 2) walked around the back of the vehicle to passenger side - 10 seconds 3) opened the passenger door and put up the passenger window - 10 seconds 4) walked around the back of the vehicle again to the driver side - 10 seconds5) approached the key to shut off the vehicle when it began to drift.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge dakota. While the vehicle was engaged in park, it rolled away without warning. The rear of the vehicle crashed into a tree. The air bags did not deploy. Due to the failure, the vehicle sustained damage to the tail lights and bumper. The contact stated that his wife sustained a back injury that required medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not towed or taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 111,850.

Driving on freeway and and vehicle goes in to 4lo by itself. When vehicle is parked and turned off you can hear 4wd engaging by itself.

Truck feels as if it is has been shifted down sputters and slows down them in a few minutes it is back to normal....there seems to be a recall #06v341000 dodge recall 37518..but dodge says that doesn't apply to my truck i don't know how that can be possible please help.

Transmission went out.saw recall notice on internet.cannot go in reverse.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge dakota.while driving approximately 20 mph in dry conditions, the vehicle would not shift past first gear.the contact had to pull to the side of the road to let other vehicles pass.the dodge dealer stated that the manufacturer was aware of the failure, but there was no remedy available.the current and failure mileages were 15,109.

I purchased a 2007 used dodge dakota still under factory basic warranty.the test drive was fine and we did not hear any noise coming from the transmission while the windows were up.we took the vehicle home and i had turned off the radio and rolled down the window to put the truck in reverse and all of a sudden i experienced a loud bang, and grind noise.i thought nothing of it and the next day i heard the same but then also the automatic transmission would not go into gear right away and started hesitating while going form park to reverse and vise versa (reverse to park).i took the truck to the dodge dealer and they said it was common form the transmission to do that and did not bother to run a diagnostic on the truck. They just put the car through its gears and heard the noises and experienced the hesitation in the transmission and said it was normal.the truck has 16,500 miles on it and is a 2007 model.i wanted to register this complaint because i feel the problem is going to get worse and could put someone's life in danger if the transmission delay and hesitation become more pronounced and the dodge dealer continues to says that the automatic transmission delay and hesitation is normal.

The transmission has quirky responses when put in reverse or drive. This does not happen all the time, but it has happened on a number of occasions for as long as we have owned the vehicle. Another incident we have had with our vehicle while traveling home one afternoon at a higher rate of speed was the feeling of someone who had pushed real hard on the brake for a moment. The only problem is, i was the driver, and my foot was on the gas pedal. While this has happened only once, to me that is once to many. We reported this like we had with the other quirks that i had mentioned, only to be told the same thing, that our computer did not store any codes, and they could not get the vehicle to duplicate the problem. We then talked to the manufacturer who told us that we still had a warranty and not to worry. At that point i asked him what would happen once the warranty expired, and his response was for me to purchase another warranty.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge dakota.when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the motor would rev, but the transmission would not engage correctly.the vehicle would barely move when it was shifted into drive or reverse.the issue occurred each time the vehicle was operated.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer over three times and they stated that there was an ongoing failure, but they were unable to provide a remedy.the manufacturer informed him to take his vehicle back to the dealer and they stated that they would attempt to work something out.they later called back and stated that nothing could be done.a claim was filed with the manufacturer.the current mileage was approximately 22,000 and failure mileage was approximately 5,000. While driving to work yesterday morning driving around 60mph, my wife stated the transmission of our 2007 dodge dakota suddenly down-shifted and would not shift out of gear, she could not travel past 55 mph. The truck made a loud noise and she noticed the rpm reaching just over 4500. She pulled over, turned the truck off then re-started. The truck still would not shift. The truck only has 36,000 miles. Truck is at the used car dealership getting checked out and the mechanic stated he could not duplicate the problem.

I bought my dodge dakota in july of 07 and after i got out of warranty the transmission decides to go haywire it goes from drive to neutral back to drive then gets stuck in 2nd gear and doesn't go in reverse so now im going to the dealer to fix the first defect that cause the second 1 to happen.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge dakota clubcab 4x2.when the contact attempted to shift into reverse, the gear became stuck in first gear.he was unable to change gears.he inspected the vehicle and noticed smoke coming from the engine.a few minutes later, the vehicle caught fire and burned to the ground.fire and police reports were filed.the vehicle was destroyed and towed away.the current and failure mileages were 28,000. The consumer stated he was towing a boat out of the water. Smoke emitted from the hood and minutes later the vehicle exploded. The consumer stated the transmission overheated. Updated 06/12/09.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge dakota. The contact stated that after pulling her vehicle in driveway, she left the vehicle on to unload supplies. When she turned the ignition off, the vehicle began to roll backwards striking the contact.she could not move away from door before the vehicle began to drag her running over her left arm. Daimler chrysler sent an inspector to investigate the failure and he stated that no manufacturer defect would cause transmission , shifter or braking problems. The dealer stated that since the vehicle was idling it caused the failure. The current and failure mileages were 5,400.updated 04/16/08 updated 04/16/08

After cold start and normal warm up, truck lurched forward at a stoplight, then stalled. Happened several times over the previous month, without stalling. If i had been in a left turn lane at a traffic light, results could have been deadly. Dealership correction was a pcm flash software update, at my expense. This should be a safety issue and covered by the manufacturer. The truck is still under powertrain warranty also.

I purchased a 2007 dodge dakota quad cab in august of 2007.before the 1st service o my vehicle, my wife stated that the transmission would not shift out of 2nd into drive. For her to correct this problem she had to pull to the side of road, stop the motor and restart the truck. She took it to the dealer service department and informed them of the problem. They told her that they could not duplicate the problem. When i drove the truck i encountered the same problem, along with the turn signals when cancelled will flash an each side and the wipers would jump. I informed the dealer myself that this was an intermittent problem and was toldto call a wrecker and pull over to the side of the road. In heavy traffic it can not be safe to pull over leave the truck running and hope that the wrecker driver does not turn off motor before hauling to service department.

Was going down the interstate doing approximately 65-70mph when the truck starts shaking and then looses power.within one to two miles it will go back to normal.this problem has occurred at least 7 times within the last month and half.the truck has 39,000 miles on it.took it to the dealer and they said there were no error codes recorded and there is nothing they can do. This is a very dangerous situation on the interstate because the last time it happened a semi was running at 70mph behind me when the truck started shaking and loosing power and he had to slam on his brakes because of my reduced speed.i almost got run over by the semi.

I pulled into my driveway and left my truck running with the lights on. I unloaded some supplies and while standing on the ground reached in and turned the key off. The truck started rolling backwards. I could hear a clicking noise. I couldn't get away from the door and it drug me down. The left front tire ran over my left arm between the shoulder and elbow. I also had abrasions on both knees, the knuckles on my right hand and a 12 inch bruise across both hips.

On august 25, 2007 i purchased a brand new 2007 dodge dakota quad cab pickup from geweke chrysler/dodge in lodi, california.. A couple days after purchasing this vehicle i noticed what can best be described as engine "surge" when cruising at 35-45 mph in city traffic. In addition i also found that the only way to get rid of the "surge" is to accelerate harder. This requirement of harder acceleration in heavy city traffic can under certain circumstances present a safety hazard, as occurred with me on august 27, 2007. On this day i was cruising along at about 40 mph in my dakota, during rush hour traffic, when my engine begin to ?surge?i stepped on thegas pedal a little harder to get rid of the ?surge? when at that very moment traffic in front of me came toabrupt halt. This abrupt halt in traffic almost caused me to rear-end the car ahead of me. Had i been ?tailgating? the car ahead of me in the moments immediately preceding, before applying heavier throttle, it is almost certain that i would have rear-ended the car ahead of me. On august 30, 2007 i took my new dakota back to the dealership to have them correct the ?surging? problem. At the end ofthis repair appointmentthe geweke?s service department informed me thatthey consulted with the chrysler engineering group and was told that there is ?no? fix for the ?surging? problem, which i had experienced with my new vehicle.the service department went on to tell me that the engineering group at chrysler further suggested that i work-around the ?surging? by accelerating ?quicker? when i am in the 35-45 mph speed range.i find their suggestion not only dangerous, but impractical as well, because most of my driving is in this speed range, during heavy city traffic. What i would like to see chrysler do is to immediately come up with a ?fix? for the dakota. Or if they can not fix the problem, replace my dakota with an exact replica with the same options, minus the ?surge? issue.

The contact is concerned that the manufacturer is aware of the failure and will not authorize the repair. The failure mileage was 22,980.

At about 7500 miles on 02-29-2008 the right caliper locked up and burnt the brake pads down to nothing. Took the vehicle to dealer ship and they replaced right brake pads. In august the same year at 11,000 the right caliper locked up and by the time the was taken to dealer ship they had to replace the right caliper right brake pads and right rotor. On 02-21-2012 at 45,000 miles the right caliper locked up coming down the mountain and by the time it was taken to a shop it had burnt the brake pads on the right side to the point that the rotor was again destroyed. Dodge denied an warranty or any problems with the brake system. I had the caliper, rotor, and brake pads replaced by a independent shop. Looking at the pads the original on the left showed to be less than 30 percent worn. When the caliper locks up it makes it difficult to control steering. I have dates names and case numbers from talking to dodge.thanks

This vehicle was purchased 11/07 new. The corrosion on the drive components is incredible. You can chip the rust off . The brakes have seized up four times. The first time it was just past the three year warranty at approximately 22,000 miles.i called the dealer at the time, and they said there was no warranty. The last time was friday 3/23/2012, at 4 1/2 years old at 28,000 miles. It burned up the front pads. This is the fourth time i have had to redo the front brakes. I have redone the rear brakes once for the same reason. I called ram customer assistance, and at first their representative said they would buy the replacement parts. After talking with them a second time, a different representative refused to help me and said the case was closed. The steering column is falling apart, the muffler and driveshaft are ready to fall off, the front axles, ball jointsand the struts are extremely rusty. You can chip the rust off of these components. I dismantled the brake system again, and the caliper pistons were frozen solid. Upon removal, i found the caliper pistons full of rust and pits on the inside. The body itself has no corrosion at all. I am looking at $2000 to $3000 thousand in parts alone. This truck has never towed a boat or been on a boat ramp. I live in an area where they rarely use salt or solution on the roads and have maybe 1-3 inches of snow a year. I need help as this truck is going to fall apart within the next year or so. I have documented all of this with pictures, and i have a case number with chrysler.

The contact owns a 2007 dodge dakota.while driving between 10-15 mph, the contact merged into traffic and made a left turn.the preceding vehicle stopped unexpectedly and the contact rear ended the vehicle.he attempted to depress the brake pedal, but the accelerator pedal was depressed instead due to the close positioning of the pedals on the floor panel.the unintended acceleration resulted in a crash.a police report was filed and there were no injuries.the front bumper of his vehicle was damaged.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but they found no failures with the manufactured components.the failure recurred on a separate occasion.the manufacturer was notified. Power steering went out on interstate 295 in jacksonville fl.causing to lose control of truck and almost crashing. Had repaired and picked up 6 jan to return home in savannah ga. After driving about 30 miles up i 95 power steering went out again. Had tuck towed to savannah and to dodge dealer.

2007 dodge dakota with 63700 miles had tie rod end failure causing steering and control problems. Had this failure occurred at highway speed there could have easily been a serious and possibly deadly event.i had the problem repaired and contacted dodge about this. Dodge covered all expenses ($265.00) at 65500 miles i took the truck in for inspection because it was pulling to the right. The mechanic found a nail in the right front tire which caused the pulling problem but further inspection revealed that both the upper and lower ball joints on the right and left sides were noticeably worn. I then took the truck to my local dodge dealer where their inspection confirmed the previous findings. At both inspections i was told that the tie rod end failure and the ball joint problem had most likely occurred because these joints had no grease fittings for lubrication. I called dodge to see if they would repair the ball joint issue and they refused. I think that had these joints come with grease fittings these issues (tie rod ends and ball joints) would not be a problem at 60000+ miles under normal conditions. Quote for repairs at dosage dealer $1451.00.

Steering in any direction becomes very difficult, indicating problems with the power steering system. I suspect a replacement of the intermediate arm/shaft will become necessary as the dealer has commented that it is a very popular item of replacement for this truck. I am scheduled for service tomorrow at the dealer for repair. I do not believe that the steering should fail under normal driving conditions.

While driving vehicle there was a sudden loss of steering.after having mechanic look at vehicle the high pressure hose was found to be leaking.after replacing the hose, found that the pump was leaking.in addition, approximately 1 inch from the teflon coating from inside the hose is missing and is believed to be stuck in the system and the likely cause for failure.

The steering on my dodge dakota pickup froze up so that all of a sudden i could not turn the steering wheel without really putting alot of effort into it.then it would get better and when you would least expect itwould do it again.i went around a corner and it happened mid turn and i almost t-boned a car in the driver door.at this point i had the car in the repair shop and it was a bad universal joint on the steering intermediate joint.what bothered me was that the technician said dodge replaces alot of these defective joints a week.maybe they should fix them before someone gets killed????

I have a 2007 dodge dakota quad cab, v-6 that was bought new and serviced at the same dealership since i have owned it.no one else has worked on it.i took it in for the regular oil change recently and asked them to check on a popping kind of sound coming from what i thought was the right front end.the dealer said i needed shocks on all four wheels.it cost me about $950.00 to have this done.i am 65 years old and have been driving since i was 16 years old.i have owned many cars, but have never had to replace the shocks in any vehicle i have owned.this is my third dakota.the first two were used as work trucks and carried heavy loads just about every day.both had over 100,000 miles when i got rid of them and i never had any problem with the shocks.the dakota i currently have has not been used for carrying anything heavy.probably the heaviest was a couple of sheets of plywood.i have talked to a friend of mine who is in charge of all fleet vehicles for the county in which i live.he said of all the vehicles he has worked on, he has never had to replace all four shocks.he said every now and them one shock on a vehicle may go out, but never all four.i contacted the dealer who told me to contact dodge.dodge looked at the specifics and said it was due to normal wear and tear.i feel that i have been taken to the cleaners by the dealer.

Axel snapped in half front left damaged , i was backing out of my driveway at a very low speed

I purchased a new 2007 dodge dakota quad cab, 4x4, automatic. The front shocks are inadequate for the vehicle. On bumps and dips the front end will continue to bounce several times after the initial compression of the shocks. At freeway speeds the vehicle almost becomes uncontrollable on a good dip or bridge joint. An investigation of an internet forum dedicated to dodge dakotas (dodge world) revelaed that this poblem has existed since a front end change to the vehicle in 2005. Dodge does not feel there is an issue with the shocks. I wouldn't mine buying aftermarket shocks and fixing the problem myself, but there are none available.

Consumer writes in regards vehicle repairs related to shocks *tgwthe dealer only installed a right shock, because the mount for the left shock had a broken weld and the shock was bent.

Windshield wipers stopped working during rain storm. By pushing washer button wiper activated but would not work with regular settings.

I own a 2007 dodge dakota 4wd/4dr the windshield wipers when turned on do not come on even when i turn them on high. I have to flip the control lever for the wipers numerous times to finally get them on. Once they do come on they won't shut off even if the switch is off. This is extremely dangeroussince i live in kansas.

My 2007 dodge dakota quad cab 4x4 windshield wiper control module failed during a rain shower yesterday. This item has bee a recall on past dakotas, but after contacting the company i was informed that this pickup was not on the recall list, although the problem is exactly as described in the previous recall bulletin: pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles, the windshield wiper module motor may be susceptible to water intrusion that could cause internal corrosion and result in partial or complete loss of front windshield wiping capability. This is a very dangerous problem, but i was close to my home and was able to drive there.

Lat year we bought a 2007dodge dakota new. 2 weeks after we drove it off the lot all the power windows went out. Since then it has been taken in to be fixed 9 times for the same issue. They cannot find the problem but the windows go out with 2 weeks from replacing the fuse almost every time.we did send away the post card to chrysler to make them aware of the lemon before a year from the purchase date to ask for mediation to resolve the issue. We were told to take it in to be fixed yet again and again and they would not offer any other compensation or resolution. Now we have run out of time to file a lemon law suit and we cannot get anyone at chrysler to call us back.

He stated that the windshield wipers would operate intermittently. There were no recalls and no repairs were made, to date. The failure and current mileages were under 48,000. The vin was not available.

I went to rotate my tires on my 2007 dodge dakota which only has 11,773 miles on it. Upon removal of the rim and tire the stud for the lug nut snapped off. The manufacturer was the only one to put the rims and tires on before i went to rotate them. The studs that hold the rim and tire on are defective from the factory. It happened once so far. The old part is available, i am fighting with the dealership right now for getting this replaced under warranty, since the vehicle is under warranty.
