Insturmentation cluster randomly reverses poliarity when lights are turend on. I have had an on-going problem with the computer system that operates the fuel injection on my vehicle.at times, the engine just revs up to several thousand rpms while i'm driving at 35 or 45 mph.at other times. It feels as though the engine is about to die on me.i was told at a dodge dealership that it might be the computer that operates the fuel system.it is increasing in both frequency and intensity.it is getting to be a real problem and i'm told that it may cost as much as $500.00 to fix the problem.i know two other people who also have dodge trucks and they both have the same problem.it sounds like this could be a widespread problem.please advise me on my options, if you know of any.thank you,steven hicks

While in the repair shop, the mechanic found a problem with the gas line.it was leaking gasoline.when the vehicle was put on the rack the gasoline spurted out of the gas line.a new gas line was installed.*jg

Left front door handle hard to open due to door latch.

Drivers side door will not open from outside. Tt

The sheet metal on the driver's door is tearing in two places: at the door latch and at the lower hinge.the problem started several weeks ago when it was noted that the driver's door became noticeably more difficult to close.it felt as if hinge was sticking.i tried lubricating it.it didn't help. I also noted that the latch was not working properly.sometimes when closing the door, the latch would close without latching the door shut.i inspected the latch and saw that the plastic covering the hooking mechanism was chewed up.(the latch post on the doorframe was not loose or out of alignment, it was also chewed up.)i observed that there is a one-inch tear in the sheet metal below the inboard screw that attaches the latch to the door.a similar tear is noted at the lower edge of the lower hinge.i have replaced the latch last week. The new latch is showing premature wear.the door does not close properly.it has opened when the vehicle is in motion.

The whole brakeing system except for the brake cables had to be replaced in july.two weeks after the vehicle had been sitting for about four hours, the emergency brake cable caught on fire and burned from the handle down about 12 inches, which made the battery fail.consuemr called sears, who did the brake job,and they are not taking responsibility for the cable fire.*jg

When trying to use headlights high beam, the head lights would go out all together.bill luke dodge replaced a component and then it happened again.a vibration was noted at aroud 27 mph when the truck had less that 5,000 miles.it took two trips to get them to recognize the problem an fix it by replacing the drive shaft under warrenty.you asked the question if the truck had been in a crash.it was a less than 10 mph fender bender when a van pulled into the side of the truck.the paint is peeling off the roof and some on the side of the box.

When i drive 50 + miles, transmission won't up shift unless i take foot off gas, it has done this about 12 times since purchase in feb . Also truck has rolled ahead when in park 6 times since purchase in feb.

This is just a run down on repairs i made to my vehicle, but they are problems that should have been taken care of at the factory. First of all, the brake problem still exists. This is the only vehicle that i know of that has to have air in the front caliphers to work. I had to put bearings in both front and rear differential assemblies. The front one came from the factory without a bearing in the left side of the differential assembly.

They were just far enough to be out of warranty when the torque converters blew up throwing shrapnel through the transmission warranting a complete rebuild. My truck has been serviced routinely since i have had it, getting the transmisssion service done every 15000 miles to prevent it from tearing up. Fat chance.

My daughter, who was the driver, was unable to unlatch her seat belt. Her boyfriend had to force it apart in order for her to be able to exit the car. Now it is broken...she was at a standstill at her boyfriend's house.

My complaint is with the fact that dodge was allowed to put defective seats in the 1995 dodge dakota (as well as other years) without having to make the necessary fix to those vehicles. The seats clearly do not protect against neck injury in rear end collisions. I am the original owner of one of these vehicles.

Driver's side seatback support bolt snapped, allowing driver's seat back to fall to the extended part of the pickup's cab interior while driving @ 60 m.p.h.

Drivers side seat broke when sitting down and i fell back. Further investigation shows that the bottom bolt and middle screw snapped. Fortunately no one was hurt, but they could have been if i was on a freeway.

While traveling down the road at night, all lighting systems went out with no warning. The headlights, tail lights, and side marker lights went out.consumer states the tachometer stopped working and the gas mileage dropped from 24.5 mpg to 18 mpg after he fabricated repair parts, the cause of failure was due to a wiring harness plug connector not being sufficiently waterproofed, water, road salts, and minerals collected at the wiring side of the connector and caused three electrical spades in the connector to short out, burning one spade out completely, consumer had not heard back regarding the shipment of the wiring harness, however was told it would only take approximately 7 days.

Noticed the abs light come on.took itto dealer, and they indicated that the abs module and pressure limit valve needed to be replaced.this has happened two times. The other time the abs light came on, took it to the dealer and was told that the wiring harness was pinched between the speed sensor and frame.

When attempting to slow/stop to avoid hitting a deer, experienced abs failure, upon appying, brakes, they grabbed and did not release right away, causing wheels to lock up, skidded and then vehicle rolled over.

The abs circuit board and rear abs sensor and harness malfunctioned, causing the abs system to be inoperative, and resulted inextended stopping distance which could result in a crash.

Piston in caliper is made of a phonalic material and freezes up after getting hot, causing the disc brakes to stick and destroy the brake pads and rotors.

There seemed to be an increasing amount of "play" in the steering. It has now gotten to the point i don't feel comfortable driving this truck long distances. I looked underneath the front end, and the steering rack moves from side to side approximately 1/2 -1".

This is just a run down on repairs i made to my vehicle, but they are problems that should have been taken care of at the factory. First of all, the brake problem still exists. This is the only vehicle that i know of that has to have air in the front caliphers to work. I had to put bearings in both front and rear differential assemblies. The front one came from the factory without a bearing in the left side of the differential assembly.

Water leaks into cabin...all door seals replaced.

The contact owns a 1995 dodge dakota. The contact stated that the vehicle was unable to pass the state vehicle inspection due to the frame being corroded. About 1 year ago, paint started to blow off my 1995 dodge dakota.this truck has had no body work done and has suffered no damage.the paint is peeling in many places all over the cab and in a couple of areas has begun to rust.paint should last more than 9 years and i am surprised that dodge would allow such a problem for their customers.my vehicle is a 1995 club cab short bed 4x4 and is two tone blue and grey in color.

Two weeks ago consumer heard a crunching noise when applying brakes.controlbracket that holds frame was broken. If whole braket was broken then front wheels could fall off. Consumer states that the frame broke in half just before the steering control arm.

On passenger's side , main frame on the vehicle has broken between front and rear control arm which could cause loss of vehicle control.

Frame was cracked behind the right tire. A plate and weld was done to repair it.

I owned a 1995 dodge dakota 4 x 4 that lost the front passenger side wheel on the interstate (at 65 mph) in december 1996. This vehicle had been into the dodge dealership shop the week before because, the front end was making a noise and, pulling to the right. The shop told me there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. One week later i had this accident .i now have a permanent neck and, back injury which require me to be on pain management,have epidurals every 3 months for the chronic cervical and,lumbar pain. I also miss work due to this condition. I believe chrysler dodge knew there was a defect at this time. I contacted an attorney when this happened but, was not able to pursue this due to the fact the vehicle was taken into a dodge dealership by the wrecker, when the accident happened and, we were never able to obtain the parts or, wheel from my vehicle. I feel that a extensive investigation needs to be done to avoid anyone else being permanently hurt or, killed for corporate greed. Ps.....i have the vin # [xxx].. 8/10/2000 12:00 noon 4 miles south of norman,ok,at 75mph the left rear tire peeled the tread casing, sent it flying at traffic behind the vehicle, tje tire did not deflateand i was able to bring the vehicle to a stop without losing control. The casing damaged the fuel line and the bracket attaching the fuel line to the fuel door and the left rear fender well and exterior panel.who manufactures the private label tire titled as patriot design number 9332, please advise.

Tires would slide slightly sometimes when i attempted to make a stop even at low speeds especially after a little rain. I asked the dealer (firestone) about this and they looked at the tires but told me that it probably was oil on the road. This happened several times at the same spot until i would only go 15 to 20 mph in that area on my way to work just in case the light changed and i would have to stop. I became uneasy whenever i had to stop. I complained to my husband also and even he said it was probably oil on the street. You know how no one listens to a woman, but i thought it was those tires all the time. The final time was on a rainy day, july 7, 1999, on my way to work on us hwy 78 east. I was traveling about 40 to 45 mph along with other traffic when i realized i had no control over the movement of my truck. It seemed to take on a life of its own. I tried to stop by slowly touching my brakes but nothing stopped the truck. Turning the steering wheel had no effect. The truck was heading across the median into on-coming traffic and i could not control anything. The driver of the truck that i hit told my husband that when he saw my truck coming at him it (my truck) was airborne. He was towing a 40 foot trailer loaded with equipment and my truck was wrecked everywhere but the driver's door. (i have pictures of the truck). The driver's airbag deployed and i had my seat belt on. My elbow or hand cracked the windshield. My right femur was fractured and my left knee suffered complete tears of the mcl and acl ligaments. When the accident was over my legs were on the passenger side of the vehicle and my head in the seat of the driver's side. I was alone in the truck on my way to work. No one else was injured. While traveling about 65mph onhighway heard noise and pulledvehicle over to the shoulders. Front driver's side tire tread separated fromwheel.goodyear, eagle ls,p23570r17.

The two lifters fail.the instrument panel has a short circuit causing the gas indicator to malfunction. The engine is experiencing noise. Took vehicle to dealer & was informed the timing chain was causing the engine problem.

When trying to use headlights high beam, the head lights would go out all together.bill luke dodge replaced a component and then it happened again.a vibration was noted at aroud 27 mph when the truck had less that 5,000 miles.it took two trips to get them to recognize the problem an fix it by replacing the drive shaft under warrenty.you asked the question if the truck had been in a crash.it was a less than 10 mph fender bender when a van pulled into the side of the truck.the paint is peeling off the roof and some on the side of the box.

Vehicle has numberous problems and owner would like to know where he can file a complaint in his local area.

Not sure what happened...just a gradual downfall of the gasket on the windshield that is now completely out of the window on the passenger side in the upper corner..can see the curve of the gasket out of the window...its as if it shrunk from one week to the next.

The consumer has been experiencing problems withconvex mirrors.mirrors are hard too use because they make objects seem closer than what they appear, and they create too many blind spots because they are too small.the manufacturer has not been contacted.

I was driving the car at 35 miles an hour up to 45 and the tire came off.it caused a 3 car accident.luckily ino one was hurt but i got a careless driving ticket.i feel the tire snapped off the drive train.it happened in 2006.it was lightly raining but this should not affect a tire coming off completely..i can send in police report later i put in a request for a copy but i have not recieved it yet.
