My air bag warning light repeatedly stays on after multiple trips to the dealership to have it fixed. It's stays on constantly. Everytime i go have it serviced at the dealership, the light will stay off for a couple of weeks and then turn on again. It never gets resolved and i worry that my air bags will not deploy in an accident.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact stated that the air bag sensor flashed and remained illuminated. The dealer stated that there was an internal failure with the passenger side air bag seat sensor. The dealer replaced the core and air bag and cleared the failure code. During the second repair, the dealer replaced a loose wire and the connector assembly; however, the failure recurred. The contact noticed a flashing warning sensor indicating that the air bag was deactivated. The dealer repaired the vehicle again. The contact was later notified of nhtsa campaign number: 13v118000 (air bags), but the dealer did not inspect or diagnose the vehicle to determine if the recall repair was required after the two previous repairs were performed. There was no indication if the dealer would replace the driver and passenger seat air bag wiring harnesses. While driving approximately 10 mph, another vehicle crashed into the front end and passenger side of the contact's vehicle. The driver sustainedbruises to the left shoulder and pelvic pains that required medical attention. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was waiting for further inspection from the insurance company and the manufacturer to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 8,900. Updated 10/8/14 updated 5/13/2015

Air bag light gradually came on and off. Currently, the light stays consistently on. Began when i was driving at low speeds. The air bag light came on and off along with a peep (sound made when seat belt is not being used). As time passed, the air bag light didn't turn off and remains consistently on. Dealer said that my car does not apply for the recall made on april 2013 for this same problem on this same model. Apparently there is a cut off on vehicles and mine didn't make the list, however it demonstrates same exact problem for which the recall was made.

December 16, 2016 the air bag light illuminated and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The consumer returned to the dealer on april 16, 2014 for the same air bag light issue. Tamara recall taking to long to replace air bag

My car is under a ntsb ordered safety recall and yet i have been unable to get it fixed because of the poor customer service at bluebonnet dodge in new braunfels where i purchased the car and live.they completely ignore any attempts to schedule appointments and when i dropped the car off the were unable to get to it that afternoon.they had my car for five hours and still said the needed to look at it.there was nothing to look at it was under a recall.they refuse to repair my car.

I was rearended, (at 4200 miles on my new vehicle), while at a dead stop for a traffic light by a ford f250 pickup truck traveling at 45 mph pulling a utility trailer hauling approximately 6000 - 7000 pounds which hit my 2012 dodge challenger in the right rearend pushing me into the back end of a nissan altima, and not one of the air bags deployed in my challenger. I had a prior problem with the challenger at approximately 2300 miles on the vehicle where the air bag warning light came on and had the vehicle serviced at the dealer to fix the problem they said was a faulty wiring harness from the factory in the drivers seat for the air bag system, and after the dealer replaced said faulty wiring harness it turned the warning light off prior to this accident. The accident occurred at 4200 miles on my vehicle causing extensive damage to the rear and major damage to the front of the vehicle from the impact.again not one of the air bags deployed. The dealer service department also stated to me when i had the vehicle in for repair of the warning light prior to the accident that they were having this problem with all of these new challengers of a faulty wiring harness from the factory causing the air bag light to come on. I can only be led to believe at this time that the problem is not only the wiring harness but that there is a much bigger problem in the air bag system malfunctioning during my being rearended and pushed into another vehicle in front of me and not one air bag in my vehicle deployed in this accident. This is a very serious issue and life threatening and now i am stuck with a vehicle that is less safe than stated it is.

Air bag illuminates intermittently. This is a clear indicator of a break in the circuit. The fact it comes off and on leads me to believe it is a connection somewhere being jarred. The issue simulates the issues already addressed in another recall. However, the year model falls out of the range by one year as previously cited year models. I feel this needs to be investigated and addressed to extend the recall to other year models of the challenger make. Vehicle is in motion and the airbag light illuminates intermittently when traveling. This has been an ongoing issue and has been an issue since owning the car. A previous report has gone un-investigated.

Recall n07:i took my vehicle to springfield chrysler auto mart when the recallwas first issued, i bought this car with the airbag light on the dealership (not the one listed above) sold it to me like that. The dealership replacing the wires (dealership above) cut and spliced into the old wires instead of replacing them. They had plugs on them and he cut them right off and wired the airbags up. It is a major safety hazard for these wires to not be cut that's why they have plugs on them. Im still having issues with this vehicle regarding this recall and the dealership can't seem to get it straight service advisor ([xxx]) advised me not to bring my car back because it's got several issues.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I own a 2012 dodge challenger. I am the original owner. About 8 months after purchase my passenger side airbag light started turning on intermittently. Usually stopping for long periods of time. Eventually the frequency increased, until the light remained on permanently. I took my vehicle to the local dodge dealership to address a different recall and have the airbags inspected. I ended up paying $220 for repairs to the passenger side airbag wiring. Not long after repairs the problem started again. It has now increased in frequency and stays on majority of the time. I was told by the technician who performed the repairs that this could prevent the airbag from deploying in an accident. I have found where this issued has been addressed and has a recall campaign number of n07. However, my vin does not authorize these recall repairs. I would just like to has this repair made and not continue to be charged for repairs on faulty equipment.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. In addition, the contact heard an abnormal noise from the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to chrysler jeep dodge of mckinney (700 s central expy, mckinney, tx 75070) where the contact was advised that he would have to pay out of pocket for the engine to be taken apart. The contact was also advised that the recall parts were not available. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system). The contact called the manufacturer and was advised that someone would return his call. The failure mileage was unknown. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Both driver and passenger windows go up and down every 3 seconds when the car is off. Causing the run the battery dead. I have taken to the dealership multiple times they claim to reset the smart glass switch. It keeps happening and now that my warranty is out they offer to replace. I see this is a recall on 2011 models but it hasn't hit the 2012 yet. When it rains my entire seats are soaking wet and i have a dead battery every other day.

The window sensors go out and all of the controls at the steering wheel. Windows stop rolling up on their own so close the door and leaves 1/4inch gap. Sometimes stays all the way up so window hits door jam. Does this on driver and passenger side. Also, windshield wipers control won't work, turn signals won't work. Checked all fuses and tried hard reset snd that didn't work. Sometimes they will start working again and then just stop again. Traction control light is always on.

My car started smoking, the battery light came on, and the abs light started flashing. Eventually little by little the car started to die and was dead on the highway. The battery seems to not be sending the charge to the car meaning the alternator is bad. Lots of people seem to be having this issue as it appears online.

My 2012 challenger rt v8 alternator went out at about 51,000 miles. It cost $600 to replace, but 7 weeks later i am getting a low voltage alert again. I had it tested and the alternator failed. I'm afraid this car is going to die in the middle of an intersection. The v6 was recalled for alternator problems. I have seen where several owners of v8's have complained of the same thing i have (lights dimming, windshield wipers causing radio lights to dim, whining sound under hood, random low voltage alerts on radar detectors, then suddenly the car stops running, everything shuts down); no recall has been published for the v8 but i feel we are experiencing the same problems.

The car alternator went out and to my understanding this is already been documented. Chrysler llc has yet to come up with any alternatives to fix the issue and has inadequate parts to remedy the issue. Chrysler llc wants to replace recalled parts with the same recalled parts which could cause accidents, injury and death.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. While at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled without warning and failed to restart. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the alternator was defective and needed to be replaced. I have had several electrical problems since i purchased by vehicle in may 2012. In june 2012, the problems began to include the pmc, driver's side window malfunctioning, the alternator, and seven other electrical malfunctions. My vehicle has less than 49,000 miles and although other 2012 dodge challenger owners have been experiencing problems, dodge does not think anything is wrong. My vehicle was about to cut off on me in the middle of the road. Thank god i was able to pull over.

Tracktion light came on(little car with tire tracks) then dead, won't hold a charge.excact same thing is happing to thousands. Alternator replaced @ dodge/$1,000. There's a recall, (p60)2011-2014/dodge challenger's the alternater 160 amp is defective! so why did i have to pay???? because (they) are only replacing them on 3.6 l engines not 5.7 l like mine!so i guess it's only defective when u have a smaller engine? i paid more$ for my engine so i guess they think a defective alternator is going to some how work? well it dosnt! my question is did they put the new and improved alternator on mine? or do i just have to pray this one dosnt go out again, on the freeway again and cause a huge accident! ever been coming down the grapevine at 70 mph and your car goes dead? no steering no brakes, it's like an e ticket ride at disneyland😳so if u buy a challenger make sure u get 3.6l because they replace the defectivealternatorfor free! if you don't cause an accident first! no one seems to b worried about this, but if u own a challenger be careful....... I can't really answer the questions on form, they are yes and no,,,,,,,,, this whole thing is very grey.

Window keeps opening/closing. The "smartglass" feature, dropping down about a half centimeter and resetting itself every twelve seconds when the car is parked and turned off causing it to drain the battery. We charge the battery and it starts but when you stop for any length of time it drains the battery and then we are stranded!!!!! this is not ok.this is a known issue you can research many people have experienced it. There was recall for 2011 for this issue and they made it again in the 2012?!?!? and no recall for 2012? this is not an error of mine and i shouldn't have to pay out of pocket for it. There needs to be a recall for this.

Latch /motor for window going up and down by itself driver side had to be replaced very common problem with dodge owners i just paid 563 dollars for dealer to replace latch so it won't drain my battery and leave me stranded.

The challenger srt8 is not equipped with a dash illumination system, which comes on, during normal daytime driving. The instruments (speedometer, tachometer) are only illuminated during operation of the parking or headlamps function.the gauges are somewhat recessed and are only partially visible during daytime driving conditions. Further, when turning on the headlamps, during daytime operation, the amount of illumination available, with the adjustment at maximum brightness, is still at a minimum value.this presents an obvious safety issue as to speed of vehicle, engine rpms and vital engine temperature readings.

For the past few months my driver side window will go up and down every few seconds when the vehicle is parked. I park in a garage and first noticed when i went out and heard loud noises coming from my car. I thought maybe i had not closed the door properly and made sure to check each time after. It continued to happen nearly every time the car was parked. So much so that now the battery needs to be charged daily. This has also caused the rubber edging to start to rub of on the window, and not seal as tightly. When i do park outside and there is bad weather, such as rain or wind, the inside of my car will be wet or dirty. I have found were this has been recalled on other models and would like to have it covered for mine.

Reference:t36 recallincident:on 22 august 2017 my vehicle shut down during operation, the ac began pushing warm air, and the electrical system experienced a complete failure.the alternator was smoking, and i called a tow truck to bring my vehicle to my resident dealer (ourisman dodge of alxandria, va).the dealer requested $1100 for repairs, and i took the opportunity to conduct research, where i learned of the pending t36 recall, and other customer complaints.customer service 1:i contacted chrysler customer service on 23 august, and informed them of the pending t36 recall.they described that they had no awareness of such a recall.i called again on 24 august at 1:00 am est when i realized my vin now reflected the t36 recall.the customer service representative informed me that i would incur no costs, and provided me with a reference number is case there were any issues (32257716).customer service 2:i was informed on the morning of 24 august by the dealer that i would have to pay the repair costs because the t36 recall parts were not manufactured, and were not expected to arrive until october.i called customer service, and was told i would have to pay the repair costs for a faulty alternator, would have to request a reimbursement, and would then need to wait for the recall.when i insisted on an explanation, i was eventually told that dodge wanted to reserve the right to refuse a reimbursement.when i clarified, and explained she was describing a loophole, she confirmed.she refused to let me talk to her supervisor, to provide a summary of the discussion like the previous service rep had, and made many other false claims as to her ability to document the matter.clearly, most alarming, is dodge/chrysler's admittance that they are trying to avoid reimbursement fees.please contact me for additional information into the experience.

2012 dodge challenger.consumer writes in regards to vehicle alternator recall notice.according to the invoice, the abs light illuminated, and the left front window would not roll down. The consumer sent in recall notice # 14v634000.

Door latch defect causes windows to continually roll up and down after car is shut off thus causing battery to die overnight. This is not alleviated by leaving window slightly rolled down overnight. Apparently 2011 challengers have been recalled, but not 2012.

Smart windows go up and down on their own running the battery down.

Since then i have been working with my insurance company and hendricks hover dodge to get it repaired. First they couldn't find my car for a bout a week, then they told me it would be don't this friday and since then i have receiver 2 sales calls trying to get me to trade in my 2012 dodge. Why did this happen and why has it been at hendricks since january 22 and still not fixed.

This would be the 3 or 4 time with this issue and i hade to replace part and fix it. Driver side smart window stops working it won't go down when opening door causing you to force door open and now door can not close correctly

About 2.5 miles from home, my car began to make a humming/whining sound when i would push on the accelerator. I began to panic and called my dad using the u-connect bluetooth hands free system. About 1 or 2 minutes into the call, i lost power to the radio. Then the abs light and the stability control lights began flashing on and off. The odometer stopped reading my speed and all needles on the dash spiked then fell flat showing no readings at all. As i continued to roll down the hill, i started to smell melting/burning. I tried to roll down the window and hand no power. The car finally died when i pulled into my neighborhood to enter the gate code. My car then blocked the entire entrance to complex until i could get it towed. There was an alternator recall i was not made aware of, yet the dealership had it noted on my account. (thanks for telling me.) and then the battery was so corroded that i needed to replace the battery, positive cable, and rewire. The alternator costs were covered but i am out almost 1200$ on the rest.

Totally integrated power control module - car would randomly not start over the last 2 years while being in on off position. The car would be turned off and i would get in to start it, the car cranks but does not start. It just gets stuck. I would have to sit and wait, keep trying to start the car with the fob and with the key inserted until it finally starts again. No pattern or anything, car just leaves me staranded after two years of not having a reliable car, i was told i needed to replace it for $1000.00 - i only have 38k miles and have to replace this in my car. This is a known issue with these cars and should be recalled, i should not have to pay for bad quality.

Driving on a main street - all console started to blink and vehicle went dead. No control over the vehicle. Pulled off to the shoulder. Tried starting it and nothing. Called aaa and they tried jumping my car and he told me the same - car is dead and said that my alternator is fried.

Car completely want start. Had a jump start and the car crunk up however to go out to crank the vehicle the next morning and the vehicle want start at all. Contacted the dealer they stated they don't have the alternator for the vehicle and would be able to do a temporary fixed. Not only do i have to pay out of pocket 150.00 just for them to do the testing . I also would have to pay for the alternator for the recall 1300 because my car has reached 45000 miles. If the car has a recall why should we have to pay so much out of pocket because of their error.

Drivers side window would not roll down upon opening door causing window to be on the outside of weather stripping when closing door. This happens when the vehicle is stationary and when opening drivers side door.

Smart glass sensor malfunction- glass keep going up and down when engine off and parked draining battery. This is a common issue for 2012 and its not listed on recall

The window motor keeps running and killing the battery. From what i've found out, this is a common problem. Also, people can see this as an opportunity to easily reach into the car.

Driver side window constantly goes up and down an inch by itself when car is off, window up, and doors are closed. Draining battery.

On november 1st i was driving on the highway and my driver side window kept going up and down about 3-4 inches by itselfand would repeat it over and over. Now my car when it is parked and locked the driver side window goes up and down by itself until it drains my battery dead..

While parked and turned off window repeatedly lowers and raises itself as if you were opening the door, draining the battery and resulting car not starting. Replacing battery does not fix. Problem has also occurred while driving.

With the vehicle shut down and after exiting the vehicle, driver side window moves up and down without being prompted. It continues till the battery is dead.

While driving on a two lane road, the car began to lose power and steering control.it became very difficult to get the car to a safe location.it turned out to be the alternator.i saw on this website the older 2012 cars challengers were recalled with the same engine and alternator.i was very lucky not to have crashed my car.

The windows on my car are continuously moving up and down without me touching the controls.the door handle latches are also getting stuck and in the mornings the car is dead and has to be jumped. I called the dodge dealership after googling the problem.the dealership told me the door latches need to be replaced at a cost of $350.00 each and they have had several of these complaints and problems.this is causing the windows to move by themselves and draining the battery overnight.they immediately knew what i was talking about.i think there should be a recall on these two problems.we pay too much for our cars as it is.now i have to pay for a malfunction!

Once vehicle is parked and completely shut down. Driver's side window constantly rolls up and down until battery is drained. It only rolls down approximately a quarter of and inch. Completely drained and destroyed a battery and now its working on the second battery.

Smart window problem, divers side window and passengers side window move up and ⬇ randomly on their own even without power applied, ignition off, vehicle unoccupied at any time. Came out from work after parking car unoccupied for hours and windows were down leaving vehicle fully able to be stolen, broken into, or vandalized. Windows also move up and down on their own while operating the vehicle on their own.this is a very very serious ongoing issue!!!!! this issue started with earlier year challengers and continues through 2012 models also and beyond! chrysler/dodge needs to recall all challengers, all years to present and fix this seriously dangerous unsafe issue now!!!!! this is a continual ongoing problem with these so called smart windows even disabling the vehicles do to a dead battery.

Fiat chrysler dodge has issued a recall on all 3.6 liter v6 alternators because the amperage is causing fires in some cars but mostly the alternators are failing and once they fail, the battery goes within a few days with no warning. I was driving on the highway when my car lost all electrical, no power steering, no lights, which also means no airbags or anything. I pressed the gas pedal all the way to the floor to keep it running and was at 40 mph before i could finally get off the highway. I stopped at the redlight and the car just shut off. I contacted chrysler through my service agreement and got roadside assistance to take the car back to the dealership where i bought it in 2012, i told them about the recall and they told me dodge had not released the parts to anyone yet. They gave me another faulty alternator and a new battery, lied to me and told me that the alternator has nothing to do with charging a battery, told me that dodge wouldn't reimburse me for the service, and told me to come back in a few months if dodge had sourced the parts. It's four months later and dodge is sporadically releasing the new higher amperage alternators, some dealerships are getting as low as 4 alternators and that's it. So every day i drive my car, i wonder if this is the day that the alternator fails again, and leaves me on the highway again, or in the middle of traffic, or in the middle of an intersection, or on train tracks or god knows where else! i'm contacting dodge after this to let them know what is going on and how displeased i am.

While driving home with my 11yr old son my car started making a high pitch sound. Then all the dashboard lights came on and the car stalled.due to no electrical power, i couldn't use my emergency lights.to prevent rear end crash, i had to hand signal to cars to go around.vehicle was towed to my home.had the car diagnosed and was told the alternator had went bad.the cost for parts and labor is 900-1000$. I have not had the vehicle fixed.i contacted chrysler and was told the list was still being compiled of vin's affected and they would begin to notify customers dec 5th.chrysler is not reimbursing for any towing or rental car expenses due to this recall.

Took my car in for oil change they said there was a recall on the timing chain and belt so they replaced it the next morning my battery light , abs , traction control light came on by the time i got to work it would not restart.battery would not charge became extremely hot it melted the jumper cable handles.no power what so ever...2 service men came to tow me and they both stated it was very unusual it would not charge at all... Very discouraged since it only has 23,000 miles ... I was stranded on a city street for 4 hours waiting ist person locksmith/battery charger couldnt jump it so he left then called for a tow truck...

Having issues with "heat stakes" in windows causing the smart glass switch to activate while vehicle is off and draining the battery causing for a jump every morning. There was a recall for the 2011 challenger (m24) for the same exact issue.

I was driving on the freway and my challenger lost power and smelled like something was burning and my steering wheel locked up i had to have it towed 15 miles back to my apartment and now its just sitting i checked for recalls and low and behold there is a recall for an alternator and diods recall number t-36 so i called to dodge dealers and once again they are giving me the run around stevens creek dodge said a month and a half rediculouse and fremont dodge gives two months until they can replace it dodge service manager said they only get a few parts to work with i highly doubt that i recently got my passenger side airbag done and they broke the part im not even sure if it is actually working huge safety hazard i need my vehicle repaired asap someone needs to contact me asap i also had to use up my towing miles from my insurance company im requesting a rembersmant for that and if they can repair a seriouse issue with my dodge in a timely manner they need to supply a loaner so i cn get to work and if i cant get any results on this issue i will seek legal advice this is a very serious issue i was almost in a serious accident because of it i could not turn my wheel as the vehicle shut down i have it all on my dashcam i will be expecting a call or email on this asap

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. On several occasions while the vehicle was turned off, the front driver's window independently rolled up and down. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while the vehicle was started. The failure caused the battery to become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to rockie williams' premier dodge chrysler jeep ram (600 pleasant grove rd, mt juliet, tn 37122, (615) 288-8525) where it was diagnosed that the door module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

The driver side window repeatedly moves up and down un-commanded. This happens when the vehicle is driven or stationary and causes the battery to be drained overnight. This issue was noted by chrysler on the 2011 challenger and addressed in the "customer satisfaction notification m24 smart glass switch". The same issues are present on the 2012 challenger as evident in the amount nhtsa complaints filed against this vehicle (or a quick search on google for "smart glass switch issues"). However, they refuse to include these models in their distributor/dealer service instructions regarding m24 when they were only manufactured a few months apart and likely were assembled using the same faulty parts. So far, i was forced to pay out of pocket for a new battery, and will soon have to pay for the replacement smart glass switches and labor.

When car is off and parked with window all the way up, driver side window goes up and down every few seconds which drains battery. Cannot get window to stop doing this and it continues to be a problem daily.

Received notice of alternator recall in december 2014. Alternator failed in october and vehicle was towed to dealer at my expense. New alternator was installed at my expense. I have requested reimbursement as required by the recall not three times with no response from chrysler. Recall notice said payment would be made with 60 days. It's been over 90 days.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact stated that stated the driver's side power window independently opened and closed. As a result, the terminal battery failed and required charging every day. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Alternator failure (documented recall) caused the vehicle to stall and lose all power. Lucky this was at low speed on a surface street vs. Highway speed and interstate. Was able to coast vehicle to a side street however blocking one lane of travel. Vehicle would not start nor shift to neutral and the hazard lights would not function it was completely dead. Had vehicle towed to dealer for repair. Dealer installed a new alternator subject to the same recall and stated that the proper replacement is on back order as well refused to pay towing (cost incurred due to a failed component under recall) stated they were doing us a favor by not having to pay for the repair and providing a rental car. This is a serious issue that will cause a crash and or fatality if this happens at highway speed or on any busy thoroughfare. It is unacceptable to replace a failed part with another part subject to the same recall. Another solution needs to be available other than subjecting owners of these vehicles to continued serious safety risk while awaiting back ordered parts.there are alternate replacements that could be obtained by dodge vs. Having the oem of the alternator cover the entire recall cost. This is a dodge issue to its consumers however dodge pursues recouping its costs is its own issue. They are blatantly putting cost above safety and not accommodating owners to defer cost.keeping a vehicle in operation with this serious of an issue will be disastrous at some point.many owners have no alternative but to operate the vehicles with the issue given their financial situation.impacted owners should have costs of mitigating the risk such as a long term rental car deferred by dodge while awaiting an appropriate repair/replacement of the recalled part given the seriousness of the safety risks involved. Driver side window goes up and down about every 10-12 seconds when i parked in driveway. Car power is off and no one in car. Started where driver window would not close all the way when door shuts. Lasted about 10 days. I did not drive it as i am a disabled vet and could not climb over passenger seat to get out, or to let window up after door is closed. Mobility/flexibility not good.rainy season in fla. Finally drove it, window began making clicking sound. Got home, got out of car, closed door and window began going up and down. Car parked with plastic bag over it. Had to leave window partially down to prevent further issues or battery to drain. Now car not secure from theft and interior damage. In search online, this is common problem for 2012 challenger and recall issued for 2011 challenger for same/similar problem. Problem is widespread and dodge answer is take to service center. Service center charges min. $140.00 just to diagnose then i'm sure repair cost is high also. Its obviously a manufacturer problem and dodge needs to own it. I just hope my car is not ruined from the daily rain/constant bad weather or stolen or inside damaged. I don't understand why recall is not for all vehicles effected by this issue. Its obvious it is related and very common. Car has 60200 miles. Of course happened just after warranty expired. This is an issue that needs to be addressed and fixed asap. Use to love my car, but now it is useless to me. Been informed also causes battery failure. That's not a good thing to happen while driving. Please help. Please look into the many complaints and issue a recall. Make dodge own their faults. So now i'm paying for a $30,000 car i cant drive and is sitting outside with plastic over it.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact stated that the push start feature did not function and the brakes seized. The abs, the traction control, and the check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician declined to diagnose the vehicle. The contact mentioned that prior to the failure, the vehicle had the alternator replaced.the vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

At 29000 miles noticed by windows going up and down which drained the battery.after two weeks in the repair shop my handles were replaced.however, less than two months it is again in shop for same issue.

Driver side window rolls up and down 1/8 inch after the car has been completely shut off until the battery dies

I got in my vehicle to run an errand. I turned the car on and the abs, brake, airbag, seat belt and every other light lit up and stayed on. A ringing sounds started and my radio began to flash until it finally went out. The car died and would not come back on. I am unclear as to what the issue may be. I was in the car earlier in the day and everything was fine. Their was no warning that the car would soon shut down completely.

I initially got my alternator changed by my own mechanic before there was any recall on the alternator. Then some time last year 2018 i took my car in for the recall on the air bags. While my car was at dodge they notified me that the recall on my alternator still hadn't been cleared since i never changed it with dodge so i was like what the heck why not just get a brand new one through dodge this time while they're repairing whatever needed to be done with my air bags. Fast forward to july of 2019 i took my car in to dodge dealership for some shaking while my foot was on the break and for the gears not properly shifting. My rpms were going way too high before the next gear would shift. Service at dealership claimed to fix the issue but i was back a week later because my check engine light came back on. After leaving it there another several days they said they found the actual issue so now i shouldn't be having any problems. ( something was misfiring , a coil was changed etc.) now sept of 2019 my car decided to stop on me while driving on the freeway almost killing me. My entire dashboard went crazy check engine light went off, air bags light, steering wheel , no key fob detected all while loosing power. Thankfully i made it off the exist with just enough power to get to a gas station right off the freeway before my car completely turned off on me. I took the battery to get checked it was completely dead, recharged it car started fine then went back to doing the exact same thing with warning signs all over the dashboard and leaving me again. I bought a brand new battery and still wont turn on. Being that i experienced something similar the first time my alternator went out i am pretty sure this is the same exact thing. I have had nothing but issues with this car since i got it will be taking it back to dealer but i no longer feel comfortable driving this vehicle.

I had observed a whining sound for several weeks before the incident. It was like a power steering pump without any fluid in it. I tried to listen under the hood to locate the sound but it seemed like it was coming from low in the engine bay on the left side, looking at it.my wife left for work and as she pulled off, the noise was very loud and worse than before. I hoped she was going to be alright and make it to work. She called me just as she was getting to work, when the vehicle abs and traction control indicators lit up along with a constant alarm chime. She was able to park and call me. I left home to go there. I started the car up when i got there and all was normal until i started to take it to the dealer. On the way, there was an intermittent alarm chime. I rolled down the windows during the ride to listen for noises. As i approached the dealer and parked, the abs and traction control lamp lit up as well as some chiming. I tried pushing the traction control switch with no result. I tried to roll up the windows but they would not work. As i was getting ready to shut the car off, the engine died. The service tech was right there and asked what happened. I said i had an electrical problem. He checked me in andgot the tablet out to read the error log in the car. He said i had an alternator failure. When they checked the car in and were trying to move it, the battery had died and they jumped it to get it going. I asked about another noise and said it was the water pump.

The vehicle was parked and turned off.a switch malfunctioned in the car, causing the driver's window to lower and raise 1/4" every 30 seconds or so.this drained the battery and left us stranded.after doing some research it looks like it is the smart glass switch that failed.this is a known issue on these vehicles and dodge issued a recall for only 2011 model years leaving the rest of us in jeopardy of being stranded and to pay hundreds of dollars for a fix and possible another couple hundred for a new battery.

Drivers side window going up/down 1/4 inch, when car is parked and off, draining battery

Shortly after 70k miles on the car i started experiencing driver side smart window malfunction, going up and down while driving and parked. It has now started doing it with power off and no fob around draining my battery.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the head lights cut off without any warnings. The contact stated that when the vehicle came to a complete stop, the head lights turned back on. The contact stated that while at a completed stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle experienced unexpected acceleration speeding up to 120 mph. The contact stated that in order to stop, the brake pedal was depressed with extreme pressure, causing the rear passenger side tire to blow out. The contact believed that the vehicle was being hacked. In addition, the contact stated that the air bag and traction control warning indicators were illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000.

The battery completely stalled unexpectedly and appeared to have heavy corrosion. I was eventually able to get the car started and took it straight to my local dealer. I explained the issue to the service representative and they agreed to replace the battery post. Unfortunately, the same issue occurred to me and my son approximately one year later when the car completely stopped. I had to purchase a new battery on a two year old vehicle. I am extremely concerned there are some major issues with the electrical system in this vehicle considering the recurring instances of the car stopping unexpectedly. I have a wife and children and want the manufacturer to be aware of what i am experiencing with the car. I pray nothing serious occurs while my family is in this vehicle. I have communicated my issues to the dealer and they seem to not be interested. I'm sure they will be all ears should something happen and dodge is on the front page of the newspaper.

Pushed start, car sputtered, and then turned off. Pushed start again and car turned on normally. After about 10 minutes all the icons in the instrument panel lit up, gauges fluctuated wildly, and the stereo turned off. Parked it and it wouldn't start anymore, couldn't even roll up the windows. Warranty had just expired so i made the $600 repair myself.

Window doesn't always automatically move down as it should when opening and closing the door requiring reprogramming (holding the "down" switch for 10 seconds after window is all the way down then holding the "up" switch for 10 seconds after window is closed).window also sometimes goes down on it's own after door is closed and owner walks away from the vehicle.this is not only a major inconvenience, but can possibly lead to fire due to electrical issues when window randomly goes down allowing rain/water to enter the vehicle while unoccupied (not to mention security issues).

Fuse continues to blow for brake lights. Whenever the fuse is replaced and inserted, the fuse is then blown.

The car's smart glass on the driver's side began to open/close by itself every few seconds.we called the dealership and scheduled an appointment for 1 week later as we were going on vacation.the car was stored in the garage and the window rolled down slightly while we were gone to keep the battery from dying.we came home and the battery was completely dead.took the car to the dealership and in a few hours, the battery died again and we had to replace a $200 5 month old battery before they could even diagnose the issue.this same problem has been noted multiple times and is csn m24 that was released in october 2012, yet the manufacturer refuses to issue anything other than a tsb on 2011 and nothing on 2012 models.this part is faulty and has been noted by many owners.this issue needs to be addressed as a faulty part recall because not only does it effect the door, but it drains the battery and causes the car to be inoperable. Dodge/chrysler is not assisting as the csn m24 only covers 2011 models.

Driving to work. Car starts to make a whining noise then the abs and stability control lights come on, i drive the car up the road a little more and the radio turns off and the gauges start to move erratically and then the car just died, completely in the middle of the road, when the hood was raised you could clearly smell something burning. Car taken to the dealership where i am told that the "parts to provide a permanent remedy for this condition are not currently available". I was told by the dealership that the alternator would be replaced with a new one but it would fall into the same category as the recall. I got the car home and while reading the repair paperwork realize that the alternator was not replaced just "repaired and replaced". Very upset and scared to drive this vehicle! not to even mention how upset about being lied to by the dealership. Could go on and on about thisbad experience!!

My dashboard is flickering. My speedometer sometimes drops to zero and then back to the original speed. My headlights also flicker. When i'm behind another car at night, i see them moving as if i have speakers in the truck.

I was driving when all the alerts on my car started going off and it quit working. It wouldn't recognize my key then i had to try and get it started for 15 minutes. When i did, it wouldn't switch out of 1st gear. I drove it to the dealership where i paid 175$ for a new battery which wasn't even the problem. I wasted a completely good battery. Then, they told me it was the computer and it could be weeks or months until i receive the part because it is on national back order.

The vehicle was towed to a dealer who diagnosed that the alternator and the battery needed to be replaced. The alternator was replaced, but the battery was not. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was 58,000. The vin was unavailable.

The smart glass switch issue that was a problem for the 2011 year is the same issue that is occurring in the 2012 year as well.this issue is causing the battery to drain continuously.

Driver side window constantly goes up and down a few inches by itself when car is off and doors are closed.

2012 dodge challenger.consumer writes in regards to vehicle malfunction and consumer seeks reimbursement for repairs.

While driving down highway at 55mph i noticed a whining sound and a few miles later i lost all electrical functions in my car including the steering and the car shut off.when i had it towed to the dodge dealership they told me the alternator had failed.car is a 2012 dodge challenger sxt plus v6 3.6l.while there is a recall on alternators for 2012 - 2014 dodge challengers that have a 3.6l engine, the dealership is telling me that mine is not a part of that.

Though there is a recall on the alterntors for entry models, my car lost all power while i was driving on the freeway.i could not steer and braking became difficult. I lost my headlights as well. The same exact thing happened to my vehicle as was described in other's reports on sudden failure while in motion.i was at about 65 mph when this occurred.i have the challenger rt classic 5.7 liter hemi

I have a 2012 dodge challenger and my driver side and passenger side smart windows be going up and down on it's own while the car is off and parked with the alarm on.

I was driving down the road and my instrument panel started going crazy, lights were coming on, the speedometer was jumping up and down, then my radio and air conditioner shut down, then i lost power steering, and about 30 seconds later the car died in traffic on a busy highway.it was towed to the dealership and the next day i was told that first i needed to authorize the purchase for a battery so they could get it to come on, which i did. They called back later and told me my problem was that my ignition switch was stuck in the on position which caused it to fry the ignition switch and my battery.i contacted dodge and they gave me a case # in which i followed up today and was told they were sorry there is nothing more they can do. They even told me that there have been similar issues and that dodge was looking into the problem, but for now they couldn't help me.another thing that really bothered meother than my car flaking out 200 miles after the warranty expired is that i get a letter in the mail the same day from dodge about extending my warranty.

First, to happen was i pulled out of driveway when the "brakes' warning light came on. Continued travelling, and soon became nightime driving.was going approx. 55 mph, when the instrument panel began to flash numerous warning lights. Then, the radio and interior lights began turning off and on. I was not able to manually turn off the radio during this time. I continued to drive to try to make it to a gas station. Then i felt hot air coming thru the vents. It was like i had on the heater, but i didnt. (nor the ac was on.) the car lost all power. The steering wheel locked. I was stranded. I was not able to put the car in neutral to move out of dangerous roadside nor was i able to put on the hazard lights, they came on but were very dim and slow flashing. All power was lost, no horn, lights...nothing. Did notice a burn smell coming from under the hood, but not sure what the cause was. I had it towed to the dealership. They stated it was an alternator/battery issue. They replaced the alternator/battery, however the airbag warning light was now on and horn no longer working. I didnt understand why the dealership didn't repair the airbag warning light and the horn. They did acknowledge these issues on my invoice yet no repairs were made. I have almost had 2 collisions since this. I was not able to sound horn to warn opposing drivers, and i still have no horn to sound. Both the airbag and horn malfunctions are hazardous and i dont understand why they didn't repair them at the deaership.? thank you.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact stated that the front passenger window operated independently with or without the key fob in the vehicle. Also, the vehicle shut off and needed to be jumpstarted. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. Was driving home when the battery light appeared then the abs and traction control lights started flashing. I got home turned the car off and was not able to start it again. Took the battery in for recharge and then took the car to the auto parts store and test the alternator. The alternator went bad.

Driver side window going up and down and it drained my battery. Now i have to pay 500 dollars to get the door latch fixed because it's 'bad'. It's an electrical problem that obviously is happening to many people. Please do a recall on this problem!

Cruise control would not work, airbag lights coming on multiple times . Taken to dealer / shop for repair . Cruise control works now. Still problems with airbag lights coming on at different times and different rates of speed. Has been to dealer multiple times (at least 4 times) for airbag is sues. Dealer has had seats out of car etc. To repair / replace "airbag sensor" / "wiring harness", . Airbag light still coming on when it shouldn't. Just really concern with this issue that could turn out to cause a fatality.vehicle mileage is at 13,150.

The passenger side window keeps going up and down even when the car isn't running or keys in the vehicle.

My driver side window is going up in down on its own causes my battery to be dead, i feel this is a defect in the car that i should not have to pay for. I see that it is a problem with a lot of dodges. Dodges are going to lose a lot of customers if not

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. Smart windows just begin opening and closing on their own. Windows will be down/wide openafter sitting with car completely off all night leaving car unsecure to be stolen or vandalized, even leaving battery dead where car will not start. Windows also move up and down while driving on their own. This is a serious problem!

On 3-29-2014 i was driving my car to the gym and the abs light came onand off started flashing after i parked the car and finished from gym 1 hour later the car wouldn't turned on . Then it turned on and wouldn't go the break light came on . After that the car completely turned off nothing working i couldn't even roll up the windows and i was unable to even open the trunk . I towed the car to the dealership i do have extended warranty and i asked them what the problem was they told me that the alternator was damaged and they switched it . I asked them was caused the issue so i can prevent it . They said they have no idea how this happens . So if i was on the high was and driving 70mph and the alternator stops working most likely i will crash to another car or my car will just stop in the middle of high was and could kill me or someone else . Now im planning to trade in my car because no one explains to me how to prevent this issue from happening this is serious problem . Once the alternator stops working . Nothing working in your car nothing so how can i trust a car like this ??

The passenger side window would go up and down while the car was off.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. While driving 45 mph, all the instrument panel lights illuminated. In addition, the gauges failed to function and the rpms increased excessively when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failures recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was 62,000.

The vehicle lost complete power while driving, was told it was the alternator (which was recalled). I had that fixed and a couple days after that both windows started to malfunction. They go down about a quarter inch by themselves while the car is not running and while driving. It completely drains my battery and the vehicle won't start without a jumper box or jumper cables (every time i turn it off.) i've taken the vehicle to frank shoop twice and they can't tell me what's wrong with it or have yet to fix it. Now it's starting to stall while driving and the horn continues to honk without being prompted, the battery has to die before the horn stops. The radio hasn't worked since the alternator was fixed. This vehicle only had 32,000 when i purchased it and has been nothing but trouble since.

Subject: door smart glass self cycling and/or battery drainthe door smart glass feature cycles on its own which leads to battery drain. The condition typically occurs when the vehicle is parked and the ignition key is off. This condition is identical to the exact symptoms identified on the 2011 model. This issue has beenidentified on chrysler's service bulletincsn-m24 smart glass switch. The smart glass switchissueneeds to be recalled on the 2012 model asap..!

Smart glass. Keeps opening and closing. Causes dead battery.

With the vehicle shut down and after exiting the vehicle, passenger side window moves up and down about a 1/4 in. Without being prompted. It continues till the battery is dead. Had to replace battery. Took to dealer, said it was a recalibration issue.... No fix.

Alternator abruptly shorted out.had no power steering, instruments, engine died.the care was in motion on the highway.the battery was total discharged. The alternator was very hot, burnt electrical smell, with discoloration.

My driver side window constantly rolls up and down and it drains my battery in moments. I dont know if my alternator is going back because even after i replaced my battery 2 times it takes forever to jump my car off. I dont understand how a faulty window can cause this

As i have seen here in this complaints board my alternator also had fail while i was driving with my wife and friend in the vehicle when the high pitch sound came through speakers and the abs & traction control light came on with a constant beeping chiming, then all of a sudden the all the cluster lights flashing and one of the cluster needle began to move erratically, i quickly moved to the shoulder and as i came to a stop the vehicle died and lost all power. We notice a burning smell coming from engine compartment and when i lifted the hood my friend notice the smell was stronger and as i looked to see what was burning i then saw the alternator smoking. I hurried to the back seat and laid down the seat to crawl to manual release cable to access the battery where i had to break the positive terminalto battery so the car would not catch fire. Called dealerships to warranty this but none would they directed me to chrysler where i spoke with three persons there and they stated the same thing due to mileage its not covered. Very dangerous situation when all power is lost and if quick thinking and reaction on my part this could have ended differently. There are no notice's, recall's or safety warnings for this how can this be?

The driver side window goes up and down about a 1/4 of an inch on it's own when the car is off and no one is in the vehicle. This drained the battery completely and i needed to be jumped to get it to the mechanic. I saw on line where this was a recall for 2010 ,2011 and some 2012 models. This happened on april 7th.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The contact received the notification august of 2017. The dealer (greenbrier motor company, 9841 seneca trail, lewisburg,wv, 24901) stated that the parts were unavailable for repair. The manufacturer was not contacted or made aware of the failure. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

2012 dodge challenger. The air bag warning light stays on constantly.i took my car to thelocal dealer in liberty tx, where they told me that there were no recalls. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in a recall. If i want the issue fixed dealer says it will cost $250 and up.this has been a ongoing problem for over a year now.

Sudden alternator failure resulting in car nearly catching fire, battery fried. Paid out of pocket for repair and rental car. 2nd alternator sudden failure again < 6 months later, and battery fried again. Dealer expects me to pay out of pocket again and just wait on a remedy and i would eventually get reimbursed. Not all of us have money to throw around. I'm a single mom with two kids. This is very dangerous and could end up causing a bad accident. Very disappointed.

Vehicle mileage: approx 36,000.00 v8 5.7l dodge challenger 2012i was driving my vehicle yesterday and after about 20 minutes part highway driving and part city street drives, during motion all the lights on the dash and center navigation screen started to flash. My power steering and brakes were not working. I was lucky enough to be able to get into a driveway from the city streets. When i popped the hood it was warm and had a smoky smell. The dodge dealership told me today that with only 36,000 miles my alternator is bad and needs to be replaced, other damage is still being accessed. I am now paying over $1,000.00 to get the alternator replaced.

Passenger window will go down about 1/4 of an inch every 10 seconds when door is closed andvehicle is unlocked. This caused battery to drain.

Tracktion control light came on, i pulled into my driveway. Thank god because when i tried to start it about 5 min. Later it was dead. Would not hold a charge, could not jump start it , had it towed to haddad dodge. Next morning they called and said it is the alternater and it's $1000😳so i asked if that's all that's wrong because i know there were burned out fuses and i would think i would need a new battery . He said i would have to pay for the alternater before he could check to see if anything else was wrong, hmmmmmm i've checked the dodge blog and i can't count how many people have had the excact same thing happen to there challengers! i guess there going to wait till one of us gets killed before they do a recall on what ever is causing this to happen, because if ur on the freeway and it dies it's no fun at 70 with no brakes and no steering!,, i was actually rear ended at a stop light 6 months ago, maybe that had something to do with, because i have had one thing after another go wrong with this car since the accident. But if u ask anyone in this hillbilly town i live in, the reck had nothing to do with any of the problems my cars having! coman since tells me it has everything to do with it, since my car was perfect since the day i got it! not one problem ever, till that idiot hit me, but this town is full of men that know everything about everything 😏

Battery was replaced because it went dead. Lost power steering. Windows going up and down on their own running down new battery. Found fuse that runs side mirrors and power steering to be good but is showing the fuse box to be grounding out when fuse is removed. I have heard of alot of issues with the windows on this car. Nobody can seem to locate the problem. The car was sitting still and engine not turned on. If i leave windows open, weather damage is done. Dangerous to drive without power steering. Afraid it might catch on fire due to the grounding out. There are no recalls referring to this issue. Why and what can i do about getting this resolved when mechanics can't find the problem?

While parked and the car was turned off, i noticed that the driver side window would go up and down over and over and later on kill the battery. This has been a complaint and issue for several dodge challengers even from 2011. Some individuals have to leave their window down just to avoid this issue. I have read that it is smart window motor issue with the wiring. This is not normal wear and tear and encourages theft and issues with starting up my vehicle.

Passenger side window goes up and down about every 10-12 seconds when car power is off and no one in car. Drains battery overnight

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. While driving and when the vehicle was turned off, the front passenger side window went up and down. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact stated that every time she turned off her vehicle she had to unplug her battery because there was a malfunction with the smart switch in her windows. The windows did not completely close and as a result the electrical system overheated the vehicle and drained the battery.the contact called the dealerfreedom chrysler dodge jeep ram by ed morse 815 e camp wisdom rd, duncanville, tx 75116 888) 331-8981 and they said to bring the vehicle in for a diagnostic test. They also said there were no recalls . The vehicle was not repaired with contact having to buy new batteries to be able to start her vehicle. The manufacturer gave the contact a case number and referred her to call nhtsa. The failure mileage was 65,000.

I was driving along the road and approached a set of lights to make a left turn. While making the left turn, my abs brake light and traction light started flickering, the interior instrument lights turned off, my sunroof and windows secured itself, my nav system shut off and the vehicle appeared to be failing. After pulling into a gas station and parking the vehicle, i shut the vehicle off and after a few seconds, turn the ignition on. The vehicle would not start up so towed it to the dealership. After the dealership completed some diagnostic testing, they advised me that my alternator was defective as well as my battery and both would require replacement.my vehicle has approximately 75,000kms and it is very difficult for me to understand that a 2 year old vehicle requires a replacement alternator and battery with very little mileage. Most batteries on the market typically have 3 to 5 year warranties and most alternators usually require replacement at 130,000 to 160,000kms. The repair cost $1,125 (cad). I am deeply disappointed with the quality of the components with my chrysler as well as trifling issues i?ve had with my dodge challenger. I would be very reluctant to purchase another chrysler/dodge vehicle ever again.

Power windows on this car are designed to come down about an 1/8 to a 1/4 inch when you open the doors, and go back up when you close them. While car was parked the drivers window did not roll down all the way, then as i rolled the window up and exited the car the window did not do what it is designed to do, and is on the outside of the seal. The passenger window will keep going up and down as it was meant to except it will do it with the door closed and nobody opening the door. This is very distracting and could run the battery down and be a fire hazard.

Driving and the power surged, all lights came on, none of my gauges worked and steering felt extremely loose. Have been waiting since last summer to get this fixed l. And now two months since it finally went south and have still been waiting. Wonderful job by the company.

Driving on a main street - all console started to blink and vehicle went dead. No control over the vehicle. Pulled off to the shoulder. Tried starting it and nothing. Called aaa and they tried jumping my car and he told me the same - car is dead and said that my alternator is fried.

Was driving home when the battery light appeared then the abs and traction control lights started flashing. I got home turned the car off and was not able to start it again. The contact took the vehicle to premier chrysler jeep dodge ram fiat (13000 i-10 service rd, new orleans, la 70128) where the emergency brake was repaired and the air bag indicator was turned off. The contact attempted to have the leak repaired, but was informed that his warranty would not be honored. After the air bag indicator was turned off, it continuously illuminated again. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 98,000.

Left cylinder head was replaced under manufacturer's warranty at 144,xxx oct 18 2018. Cylinder head was replaced again under the same warranty at 160xxx september 2020. After repair dealer stated that the right head had a leak and needed to be diagnosed.chrysler authorizes 9 hours of service labor for diagnosis under extended warranty x56 . The warranty also authorizes replacement of the right head cover and gasket if required.when i brought up this fine print to the dealer i was told by the dealer that chrysler would not cover anything else. It took calling for over a month straight for them to finally authorize the warranty work based on the updated 2014 bulletin that added the right side to the warranty.i was told i had to pay out of pocket 2000$ to diagnose the problem. Even though it was covered under warranty they told me it wasnt. I agreed to pay and they refused to take the car in. I asked them to put it in writing that they wouldn't cover it under warranty and i was told i was not welcome there. I am a disabled army veteran and i use driving as my therapy. My car has been non op for over a month now. Now that chrysler has verified everything i have said the whole time it's too late because now the dealerships around town wont touch the car based on the belief chrysler wont cover it. Chrysler said to me tons of times that i was out of warranty.it took them finding the updated bulletin.i dont blame the dealerships i blame chrysler.how can you replace one head at 144k and expect the old head to work well with it. Theleft head is a way to get people in the shop for a free left side head that causes more damage. It's like putting an old tire with a new one. There should be a recall asking for replacement of both heads. Chrysler claimed it doesn't cause the vehicles to fail and it does like mine did on the freeway while driving

I got in my vehicle to run an errand. I turned the car on and the abs, brake, airbag, seat belt and every other light lit up and stayed on. A ringing sounds started and my radio began to flash until it finally went out. The car died and would not come back on. I am unclear as to what the issue may be. I received a recall notice regarding timing chain, casing, and guide i took vehicle in to dealership to have recall performed and after i picked up my vehicle 2 weeks later my engine slung a rod through my engine block when vehicle excellerated to 70 miles per hour now chrysler as well as dealership is refusing to repair my vehicle when the recall clearly state if the job is not performed correctly this could take place i was travelling on the highway when it blew with vehicles coming on both sides it was a two lane highway 278

I own a 2012 dodge challenger srt 8.chrysler issued 2 tsbs in 2014 about the engine timing chain guide possibly fracturing, causing the timing chain to break, and resulting in severe engine damage. Chrysler will pay for the engine damage if the chain breaks if it occurs under warranty. But, they will not pay to replace the guide to prevent the chain from breaking. These two tsbs, numbers csn-p-01 and 09-po-11-82, affect 2009 ' 2012 chrysler 300s, and dodge chargers and challengers. The second tsb says it affects a "numerous amount of vehicles'. A dodge service advisor advised the out-of-pocket cost to replace the guide is around $2000.my contention is that this issue should be a safety recall, not a tsb. The reason is that when the timing chain breaks, the vehicle is going to stall. This could very easily result in a serious crash if the vehicle stalls in the second or third lane of a busy 4 lane interstate during rush hour. The driver may not be able to get the vehicle over to either the left or right shoulder before the vehicle stops, and it would be dangerous for the driver to try to run from the vehicle to a shoulder. In 2015, chrysler issued a recall on certain 2011 ' 2014 chrysler vehicles because the alternator may suddenly fail. It states, 'if the alternator fails, the vehicle may stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.' so, if chrysler issued a recall because an alternator may fail, causing the vehicle to stall, and increasing the risk of a crash, i don't understand why the problem with the timing chain breaking due to a guide that may fracture, which would also cause the vehicle to stall, has resulted in only tsbs being issued and not a safety recall. The only reason i can think of is the cost of to the manufacturer to reimburse the dealerships for replacing an alternator vs. Replacing a timing chain guideconsumer requested thatcomplaintbe removed from the system.

My door latch and alternator that about it and my struts

This is in regard to the dodge t36 alternator recall. After the recall was announced, my car was affected. I want to add another report. In mid 2017, a higher pitch noise was coming from the engine.2 to 3 months later, i took the car to my dealer who affirmed the noise was the sound of the alternator charging. The recall replacement part was not available. As long as i was operational, the advice was to wait. 2 months after the dealer visit, while driving one morning, my alternator failed, the battery was dead, and my engine died. When i left out that morning, a couple of the idiot lights came on which was weird.then 15 minutes later, while in traffic on a busy road, the radio was glitching, many of the warning lights came on, power steering went out.i was able to move over to the right lane, though nearly sideswiping another vehicle in the process.the engine then just ceased.i was able to coast to a stop in a safe spot. No power whatsoever.car towed to dealer.dealer claimed battery, which was the original, did not die as a result of the alternator failure. To me, the timing says otherwise. If the battery was on its way out, this sure finished it off.dealer installed a new battery and a replacement alternator - but this was the existing non-replacement alternator stock.once the recall replacement part becomes available, whenever that will be, i will need to take the car in again to have that put in if it's a replacement part to the alternator.otherwise, if it's a whole alternator unit, then they will swap out the existing stock new one i received.dealer/mfr did not cover the cost of the new battery.they did replace the alternator at no cost.

My car suddenly stopped when i was on the road causing me to almost crash my alternator just shut down

Fuse continues to blow for brake lights. Whenever the fuse is replaced and inserted, the fuse is then blown.

Both the airbag and horn malfunctions are hazardous and i dont understand why they didn't repair them at the deaership.? thank you.

Driving,on a city street when going to make a turn onto highway. When i attempted to change gears, the shifter handle bracket broke away from transmission and shifter handle fell to the side. This is a 6 speed manual transmission.

I purchased my challenger new, within the first month it started the stopped?i tried again same thing, after doing this three times it started. Finally!i called the dealership where i purchased it, they checked it said nothing was wrong, okay thanks.i've had my challenger over 3 years now, anditstill has had the same "mysterious" problem ! during a scheduled recall and diagnosis test, still nothing!now they are only recalling certain models for transmission problems, and not others?my challenger is notshifting smoothly, ilove this car, i need help ,i did my part by buying this car i love! someone needs to step up and do theirs!

Windows going up and down about 1/8 inch as if the door is being opened and closed , its causing the battery to die and fail. I read up on this and unfourtunately a dodge owners are having the same issue. Someone seems to thinks its the latch which has been a problem solver for most customers . There should be a recall in place for both 2011and 2012 dodge owners for window latch defect

Since the vehicle has hit 50.000 miles the transmition is messing up.can't get it in guear or can't get it out of gear.

Skip shift.this feature is already the cause of several near misses of me being rear-ended because from a stop, i am unexpectedly prevented from shifting from first into 2nd gear to maintain expected acceleration in traffic.i realize what the skip shift is intended for but in the real world of traffic, the skip shift feature is inherently dangerous and is a safety issue.when ever anyone is behind me at a stop or at a left or right turn, when its time to go, the skip shift feature puts me at risk of being rear ended every time it engages.there is a display on the instrument panel when skip shift is engaged but to take your eyes off the road to refocus and look for this display while at the same time driving in traffic is as dangerous as the skip shift feature itself.additionally, as a result of being forced to shift from first to forth is damaging to the clutch, transmission and engine.the engine knocks and pings terribly if i try to accelerate in forth gear at such a low speed.often times i am frantically double clutching trying to override the feature by trying to yank and jam the transmission into second gear all the while decelerating with following traffic honking or yelling verbal abuse.there needs to be a way to disable the skip shift feature on these 6 speed manual transmissions.

While driving on a two lane road, the car began to lose power and steering control.it became very difficult to get the car to a safe location.it turned out to be the alternator.i saw on this website the older 2012 cars challengers were recalled with the same engine and alternator.i was very lucky not to have crashed my car.

I am having difficulty shifting into gear at various speeds and when stopped.the problem is increasing in difficulty and causing safety issues when i try to downshift, or attempt to put into gear on a hill.i have viewed numerous posts from challenger owners going back to model year 2009 with similar problems.all of these models use a tremec transmission.

I received a seat wiring harness connectors recall notice ln may 2013,i called and also stopped at my dealer.dealer tellzs me over n over that they are waiting for parts, from corp. Over a month of waiting still no parts to fix the recall on my 2012 dodge challenger, notification code n07. The dealer i bought my car at is lester glennchrysler, dodge, ram, and jeep @ rt. 37w. Toms river,nj 08753 (732-557-60970 i would appreciate it if you would send the parts needed for the recall asap. So i can feel safe driving my 2012 dodge challenger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm not happy :(

I just bought my car 7 months ago from locklear. Current mileage on it is about 43,000 which puts me right outside my warranty. I haven't had any problems with it until recently. I noticed when i would unbuckle my seat belt that it would tend to get stuck in the buckle. A few days later i'm leaving my house to drive to town and my seat belt wouldn't click into the buckle no matter how hard i tried. I check out the buckle and apparently the piece inside of it broke and now i can't buckle my seat belt at all! this is a huge safety concern because i always wear my seat belt in case of an accident and it's a costly ticket if i get pulled over. I called my dealer and they say the cost of just the buckle alone was 200 and the labor would be expensive too because it will take more work to take the seat completely out. Total is nearly 350 just to replace a buckle! unfortunately i don't have that kinda money to spend so i can't get my buckle fixed or wear a seatbelt :(

My car keeps going from 60 or however fast i'm driving to smoking tires and my car is halted causing me to almost wreck way too many times.

Driving south bound on the i5 freeway (orange co.) i had to break to avoid hitting stopped traffic. When i hit my brake pedal, it went to the floor with no braking action. I had to downshift all the way to first gear to come to a stop. This lasted about 15 minutes. Afterwards, the brake pedal was hard again.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. While driving various speeds or while the vehicle was stopped, the abs indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact stated that the front passenger side wheel detached from the vehicle. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer would not inform the contact of what caused the failure, but the tow truck driver advised the contact that the tie rod was fractured. The failure and the current mileage was 14.

All of a sudden my power steering went out it's hard to steer the vehicle while making a left turn, on a city street with a lot of traffic and pedestrians. The road was dry. No indications that the car was having an issue prior to that.i checked the power steering fluid and the belt i don't hear a sound. I've asked several people about this issue and a lot of people have reported this as being a problem with the vehicle. I was in the middle of a turn and the power steering went out which caused me to almost hit the curb and pedestrians on the sidewalk. There has to be a resolution because this is a problem not with just my vehicle up with many others. When i bought the vehicle i was told that it had a new power steering unit in it.

I have a hard time steering my car.i have the electrical hydraulic power steering on my car.the owner manual does not match the car.i have after market wheels on my car and they have been on there for over two years now.never had any problems until now.the dealership say its my after market rims but a lot of dodge have after market rims and does not have any problems and have a lot more miles on there car than i have on mines.i think its a issue with the power steering and dodge will not take owner ship of it.

The components causing issue are suspension and steering components, such as the struts, strut plates, control arm, bushings and tie rod ends, the axles, rear suspension arms, and the u-joint connectors for the drive shaft, photographs have been taken by criswell dodge in gaithersburg, md.

Pulling out of my driveway, steering became very tight turning to the left, with a sound of rubber on rubber in the front end and steering column.when car was straight and accelerating forward the steering became normal.progressively, the steering upon slowing down and turning corners was still to the right and less stiff to the left.my car has the electronic hydraulic power steering system.i was told that i needed a new ps pump at a cost of $1,434 for the part alone.

Heavy rust on steering and control arms and other structural joints and welds.

2012 dodge challenger going 10 mph in parking lot, turning right into parking space, car accelerated by itself, and stuck itself at full throttle speed, brakes failed, power steering failed. Car hit and went up onconcrete barrier. Bounced back, stalled.

Squeaking or electric motor whirring noise at low speed maneuvers such as a parking lot or backing out of a garage..i took my car in for it's 1st oil change and tire rotation mainly because of the low price & i wanted to check on the steering noise too. I also had a clicking noise in the passenger wheel when making a left turn into the carport also which they claimed they never heard anything, even though i was looking around the lot while they were and heard my car running and one of the techs outside the car told the one backing out of the bay "i hear it!" now what sound he heard i don't know, probably the clicking which was much louder. The squeak, in my opinion, is really embarrassing when in a quiet area it sounds like a bushing or suspension that needs lubricating. The squeak was still there but it was nearly inaudible when at my dealership due to busy highway and shop noise. The worse thing about the whole experience was the service writer who was obviously young and inexperienced, i asked about the noise the squeaking noise and his reply was "they all do that." i was like ok, i better walk out before i blow my cool but now i wonder if it is the electric motor and if that is a known annoyance, problem or is it repairable? i've seen other posts about the electric steering motor being loud on similar cars and other non mopar vehicles. I had always thought it was the rubber bushing that many older lx cars had in need of some silicone lube but after looking again myself and much closer with a little help from my dad turning the wheel it sounds like it's coming from the passenger side near the engine black as best i can tell, and that's when i realized it's an electric motor whirring sound, not a rubber bushing or tie rod end.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the steering failed causing the vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be replicated. The failure recurred several times and was taken to the dealer where the front hub bearings and rack and pinion were replaced. The contact also stated that while driving, a snapping sound could be heard and steering control decreased. The vehicle was returned to the dealer and is currently being diagnosed. The manufacturer was contacted and was in communication with the contact for approximately a year. The failure mileage was 7,803 and the current mileage was 11,653.

Replace hydraulic power steering pump after the storm now my car is hard to turnit is bad in parking lots. I have to use two hands and i'm a guy

I was driving in the rain in the middle of downtown houston texas, when i heard something pop/snap then my car started pulling very heavy to the right (extremely hard to steer). When i pulled over, i got out of my car and saw that the passenger side front end was almost touching the ground. When i was finally able to take a good look behind my tire, i saw that the strut plate and strut rod had snapped into, making my car inoperable. This malfunction could be due to a weak weld or something of the sort. But i do know that this is not normal, especially since i did not hit a pot hole or even a small bump in the road to even cause the snap. I am grateful to be alive because it could've been a whole lot worse.

At slow speed i can hear a winding noise, (noise sounds like powering steering fluid is low, even though it is full and no leaks). You can hear the noise at low speed for example backing up and turning the wheel (even if the wheel is only turned a quarter of a turn) or when you have to turn in to a driveway.

Once vehicle is parked and completely shut down. Driver's side window constantly rolls up and down until battery is drained. It only rolls down approximately a quarter of and inch. Completely drained and destroyed a battery and now its working on the second battery.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact stated that the dashboard began to separate in the vehicle. The dealerbeck chrysler dodge jeep ram (256 us-17, palatka, fl 32177) diagnosed that the sun was shrinking the dashboard. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 10,000.

My door latch and alternator that about it and my struts

I was making a left turn from "stop light" at 10 mph when i pressed the throttle just a little to proceed with a safe turn, the car started accelerating quicklyand i lost control of the car and end up hitting the light pole. But before all that my buddy who happens to be a certified "nissan" mechanic have noticed that there was a weird noise on the engine. So yeah, this what happened with 2012 dodge challenger sxt .( i apologize for spelling and grammar ).p.s. The insurance company is refusing to pay for the damage unfortunately.

Involved in a head on collision, the others drive was on our side of the road and hit us head on , the air bags didn't deploy and sent me into the dash board along with the driver , i sustained severe whiplash and so did the driver we were transported to the hospital by ambulance and i am now j sergio g physical therapy due to the airbags not deploying, the car was involve in another accident weeks later where the car was hit twice intentionally and the air bags didn't deploy then either .

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the alternator failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v634000 (electrical system) and 16v352000 (air bags) however, the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

Door locks, lock and unlock on their own. Will do it anytime, doesn't matter is the car is running or not. Possibility of getting stolen or maybe the door will open while in motion. Happening as i type this...

I tired to put the car in park and get out while it was running. Because of the shiftier design it went to 'r' and not park causing the car to start reversing as i was getting out. I was able to jump back in and hit the breaks but the car door hit the garage wall and messed up not only my car door but the wall.

2012 dodge challenger.consumer writes in regards to parts not available to complete recall notice.

I was backing my car out of the driveway when it suddenly shut down. The dodge company said there was a recall on the alternator and it needs to replace. After doing the replacement they said my battery was also needed to replaced but because there is a chance that the battery damage was either done by usage or by the alternator they will not replace the battery. The mechanic at dodge dealer said " through his experience that when aalternator can damage a battery , they will not replace the battery. Through his 14 years experience dodge will not replace the battery. "

While parked and turned off window repeatedly lowers and raises itself as if you were opening the door, draining the battery and resulting car not starting. Replacing battery does not fix. Problem has also occurred while driving.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. The contact stated that the door latch assemblies for both doors began to fail. The vehicle was taken to i-5 chrysler jeep dodge ram fiat (1560 nw state ave, chehalis, wa 98532) where it was diagnosed that the door latch assembly failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 48,699.

Alternator was changed about 2-3 months and my battery keeps dying i have so far bought 2 new batteries. Car battery keeps dying.

Driving and the power surged, all lights came on, none of my gauges worked and steering felt extremely loose. Have been waiting since last summer to get this fixed l. And now two months since it finally went south and have still been waiting. Wonderful job by the company.

Takata recall.on my 2012 dodge challenger srt8 model with the automatic 6.4l v8 engine the alternator just randomly short circuited while i was driving. Luckily i was driving very slowly at that momemt when it inicially occurred. I was on a residencial street then the vehicle just completely shut down. The dashboard lights all started to flash aswell as the stereo monitor was flashing very akwardly. The vehicle no longer turned on & had to be manually placed into neutral to be pushed home. The vehicle will not start even with a jump. If the battery gets charged up independently disconnected from the vehicle it will only give it enough power to start up for just a moment. It has be determined by the delearship that it is the alternator. I came across a public forum that some dodge challenger models from years 2011 to 2014 have had the alternator recalled, but this vin has not been associated with that recall. I have a strong feeling that it should be. Especially since this happened just as described for the models that have had this recall. Alternator without warning has failed on the vehicle.

Letter from senator nelson on behalf of constituent regarding his 2012 dodge challenger that states bay dodge doesn't know anything about a recall and would like for someone to notify them; ref: (attn: josiah manzo) *tgw

As i had got off from work today and into my car i noticed my review mirror had fallen off. I can only assume that the heat is the reason it came off. However, i called the local dealership in conyers, ga and was told that i could bring the car in with the issue. I immediately went there as i was only a couple minutes from there. When i get there she tells me something different and i was unable to get my review mirror fixed. I was tired and frustrated. I now can't drive my car and i have to be to work. Is this something that can be fixed quickly as i am a loyal customer of dodge and have every intention on buying more vehicles from you.

My car keeps going from 60 or however fast i'm driving to smoking tires and my car is halted causing me to almost wreck way too many times.

"takata recall" the driver window moves up and down like when you open the door but it happened when ignition is off and key is off and drain battery.

Smart windows go up and down on their own running the battery down.

My driver side window constantly rolls up and down and it drains my battery in moments. I dont know if my alternator is going back because even after i replaced my battery 2 times it takes forever to jump my car off. I dont understand how a faulty window can cause this

A 35 dollar part has malfunctioned or broken (ac/hvac blend door actuator). It results in an 800 dollar repair. The vehicle had just passed the 36 month warranty and still has less than 36000 miles to date. If you investigate this problem is widespread among many dodge owners. It is ridiculous that the quality of said product is so poor considering the cost required to replace it.

I was driving home from work. My 2012 dodge challenger rtstalled and shut off. While driving 70 mph on the interstate. Ihad the car towed home. Sent to the dealership. They did diagnostic tests.told me the car had jumped timing.in 2014 there was a recall on the timing chain components.it was repaired in 2017. Now they are saying it's my responsibility to pair for repairs. The engine is possibly blown. How is this on me if the have recalled the parts.i'm not hard on my vehicle. I was driving it like normal and the car quit out of the blue. No warning lights.nothing just shut off.i still owe lots of money on this car. Can't drive it.

I was driving the speed limit (45mph) when the whole pedal just snapped. Upon snapping the accelerator hung up. Causing me to lose control and go down an embankment and damaging the whole car .

I was making a left turn from "stop light" at 10 mph when i pressed the throttle just a little to proceed with a safe turn, the car started accelerating quicklyand i lost control of the car and end up hitting the light pole.

Driver window continually rolls up and down when car is at a stand still. This causes the battery to die. The only way to stop the battery is to take the battery cable off or leave the window down about 2 inches.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge challenger. While driving various speeds, the driver side smart glass door latch malfunctioned. Also, the driver side window independently continued to go up and down without warning while driving. The dealer (benson chrysler dodge jeep ram, 400 w wade hampton blvd, greer, sc 29650, (864) 877-0161) was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact that the failure was not part of the warranty. The failure mileage was 60,000.

The car had not been driven since thur. Afternoon on the 6th. This car is in a enclosed garage the whole time. Drive it on the 10th and the back passenger wheel is cracked. The dealership said we hit a pothole. Could not have because all the roads are paved. Looking on the internet there were several complaints of this. Thanks
