We haven't had a specific incident but several months ago we were sent a recall notification on the dodge challenger stating that "the driver airbag inflator housing in your vehicle may rupture, due to excessive or internal pressure, during normal airbag deployment events.this condition is more likely to occur if your vehicle has been exposed to high levels of absolute humidity..." we have contacted fiat chrysler automobiles and a local dodge dealership and they are both refusing to fix the problem and have no other solutions.it is my understanding that when a recall is issued the manufacturer is required to provide a solution - either fixing the problem or buying back the vehicle.this is clearly a major safety concern, we live in texas so the humidity statement definitely applies and with no fix we're not able to drive the vehicle now so something needs to be done.dodge needs to figure out how to fix the problem or start buying back vehicles.we need to be driving a safe vehicle, we have an infant and we can't afford to just park that car while dodge twiddles it's fingers.

This vehicle was in perfect operational conditions prior to the repairs regarding the takata inflators.immediately following this repair, i have replaced the battery on two separate occasions.a completely charged battery will discharge overnight.after a complete diagnostic evaluation by dodge dealership, they found no problems with vehicle.in the 12-days following this diagnostic, i have charged the battery twice.i am really concerned that an electrical defect, as a result of the dealership repairs, may contribute to an electrical fire or a possible explosive concern.i am concerned for the safety of my self, as well as my family.this has been an on-going concern for approximately 6-months.

I have been getting reports of a recall on this airbag since 2016. And i scheduled to be informed when the parts came in, in order to have it fixed. But when i had asked on another recall that had to be taken place, they said that it was never submitted. It was and i had just checked, it has been submitted to be notified when parts came in september 2016. I just need to get it fixed, and i've been waiting 4 months and told there was no recall on the car when in reality i had submitted one. So im not sure where to go with this

I brought my car 8 months ago and the delalership never toldme about any of the four recalls i never received any papers in the mail concerning the recallsand that puts me and my children at risk everyday it's a scary feeling i also hit a tree that was in the middle of the street my steering g wheel was hard to control and my breaks as well

I have experienced numerous breathing difficulties, i suspect have been caused by the air blowing out the vehicles ventilation system... I regularly develop chest pain in my breast area and migraine headaches after being in the vehicle for an extended period. I have reason to believe that the vehicle had been tampered with prior to my purchase . I've recently discovered false information related to the ownership of the car, through a carfax search

Takata recallno replacement parts and no determined date. Loss of value on trade in. Safety of family and myself.

There is a defect on the dash where the passenger air bag deploys.this causes the area to look depressed and deformed.chrysler / dodge was contacted, and are refusing to repair.in talking with other owners some are choosing to cover the dash with dash mats or covers.this raises the question with me as to how this may effect the deployment of the airbags?

In addition, the gauges displayed incorrect readings and the radio failed to function. The vehicle was taken to an auto part center, but was not diagnosed or repaired. Vehicle stalls randomly while coming to a stop. Oil light illuminates car losses all power steering and breaking. This happens while driving straight or turning as well. Primarily while turning. This has happened to me on a city intersection and in my residential neighborhood. I am scared that i am going to wreck because of this and hurt myself or others.

I took car into dealership because it didn't sound right.it was determined that is was the alternator and therefore the battery.this car had less than 40,000 on it and the alternator should not have gone out.after some research i found that later model dodge vehicles had recalls because of the alternator and i feel the recall should go back to my model.

I have had this car for 7 years and have only just turned it over 50k miles. Just recently the car started to make a whining noise the the battery warning light came on. After turning the car off and then back on the light turned off but would come back on after a few miles. Checked out where the noise was coming from and it was the alternator. I have noticed that the 160 amp alternator has been recalled on the 2011-12 3.5l engines for these cars. As i have the same alternator in my car. I was wondering if they are also being checked. This car is also a show car that has won 9 trophies and 4 medals, it is beyond belief that the alternator would fail so quickly for a car that is extremely well maintained. I drive this car at 4:30 a.m. To go to work and when the warning light comes on the headlights dim slightly.

My 2009 dodge challenger r/t equipped with the automatic transmission started experiencing problems downshifting when approaching a stop. You wouldn't know until you press the gas to proceed down the road and barely move as the vehicle would be stuck in the highest gear. I would have to pull over, turn the vehicle off, and restart it to drive the vehicle. Luckily this didn't happen when trying to pull out into traffic as it would have a high tendency to create a collision. Transmission code for the input speed sensor and after researching it online, i found a mass number of complaints and repairs about this issue. It appears to be a mechanical defect that needs to be dealt with by fca and nhtsa due to the common occurrence is these vehicles. Replacing the input speed sensor which is part of an electronic module cost approximately $500 and corrected the problem.

The car will sometimes shut off and disable all power assists. This has happened to me on the expressway on occasion.

On 2009 challenger r/t with push button "go" ignition. Message center showed "no fob detected when attempting to start vehicle. Attempts to start were made approximately twenty times. Car would start when using the remote start but you must press the "go: button in car before it can be driven. There was no safety issue per se but i was left stranded. Car has less than 3k miles.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge challenger. While parked, the no fob detected warning message illuminated. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 500. ...updated 08/25/15 the consumer stated it was just not a no key fob warning message, the vehicle would not start or if she was outside of the vehicle, the doors would not unlock. Updated 09/08/15

Alternator failure at 57000 miles. No power, and smoke.

Had a message pop up on my radio that the wireless module is bad...cannot unlock, lock, open the trunk or remote start the car with the key fob.

After battery and cables recall performed and new key fobs programmed due to "no key fob present" ,car would intermittently start.push button or fob in dash, made no difference.car would "thunk" or"start and immediately shut off" and finally the safety issue the car would shut off while driving no matter what the speed!all the lights on the dash would come on but the engine would be dead.it died on me coming up a steep hill merge lane, making turns, on the highway, even in my own driveway.had the car to my purchase dealer twice and they couldn't find what was wrong with it.finally took it to another dealer who found the problem within an hour.the win module had to be replaced and updates flashed to the computer.i'm told chrysler appeared at this dealer while my car was in for service and that they personally checked it over, re-doing some of the things the dealer performed.major safety issue with car shutting off while driving!shame i had to pay to have this fixed.shame on chrysler/dodge.it appears from reading other complaints that many others are having this same problem!

The vehicle caught on fire while driving.the fire started in the right front side of the engine compartment and quickly consumed the vehicle completely. The vehicle was not presenting any problems before the incident and no warning lights came on.the vehicle stalled and caught on fire.it was extremely difficult to come out of the vehicle. The estimated travel time before the accident was approximately 45 minutes.one important fact is that the vehicle received a service at the local dealership flagship chrysler of toa baja pr 00949 under service order # 129395.the service included a 20 point inspection, the change of fluids to include transmission, differential, power steering, service the injectors, and efi throttle system.the dealership released the vehicle from the service department on 4 nov 2013 and caught on fire on 10 nov 2013.

In 2009 i purchased a dodge challenger srt 8. Since i have had the vehicle it has stalled many times. Every time it's when i slow down and make a left or right turn. While turning the vehicle stalls and you loose steering and brakes. Last incident was earlier this week, my wife slowed down to make a left turn into our subdivision and he vehicle stalled in the oncoming lane and she was almost struck. She had to put the vehicle in neutral and restart the vehicle to exit the roadway. I have called the dealership many times and they say there's nothing wrong with the vehicle. I looked online for a fix and there doesn't seem to be any, although there are a lot of dodge vehicle owners with this problem.

Took my car into dealership for warranty work on trim and window switch. Car was fine. Had owned it for 2.5 years. Dealer performed flash on pcm per chrylsers information. When i left the dealer, i noteced a 1.5 second delay when gas pedel is depressed. Found out when trying to pass slower traffic. Human nature causes you to press if more. Then all of the sudden, the power comes on hard. Took it back, and had chryler tech test drive with service mgr. They saw the problem with the scan tool hooked up. Was told that there was a 1.4 second delay. Tech said he made changes in program and took it to .7 seconds. I do not see a differance in performance. Called contact at chrysler. And was told that it falls within factory standards. There is no way this is right. Car was fine untill they flashed it. I am unable to get any paperwork from chrysler stating the problem is normal. This is very dangerous. At 55 or 70mph 1.4 seconds can be a lifetime. If a time delay is normal for the fly by wire systems, then i am glad i am not a pilot of a fighter aircraft or new comercal air liner.

Engine failure stalls and loose steering while driving, restart the vehicle an car dies out multiple restarts attempts before car restarts.

The engine failed on the highway while driving at 65pmh due to the timing chain failing. This caused the piston and/or connecting rod to come out through the oil pan and side of the engine block. The engine failing caused the power steering to go out and the vehicle to hit a snow pile with the front causing damage while trying to get off the road. The unit had to be towed from the location and looked at later to find the cause. I have contacted chrysler about the issue and found they have a "customer satisfaction campaign" for the timing chain issue on this vehicle. They called it recall p01. The vehicle will be going to my local dealer for the engine repairs which chrysler is alleging they will pay for, but that is unknown at this time. The front end damage caused by this engine failure and loss of steering is undetermined at this time also. I'll be asserting that chrysler pay for the body repair as it was due to the engine failing, steering going out, and getting the unit off the road.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge challenger. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the vehicle lost power as if it had stalled but the engine continued running. The power steering had also become inoperable.the contact turned the engine off and restarted the vehicle. Once restarted, the contact was able to accelerate and had regained steering capabilities. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose a failure. Approximately one year later, the failure recurred. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 11,000 and the current mileage was 34,000.

My husband who is a state trooper was driving my car to home depot. He had trouble keeping it started in our driveway. Once he got out onto the road it was fine until he let off the gas. The car shut off completely. He coasted to the side of the road almost getting rear ended. He cranked it back up and this happened 2 more times on his way to home depot and back. He said everytime the engine would just shut down. We called dodge and they claim there has been no reports of this.

My 2009 challenger has stalled twice when making a right-hand turn.4/11/11 - i was driving between 30-35 mph.i started braking so i could turn right into my office parking lot.as i started to turn right, the engine just turned off - there were no idiot lights on the dash.i restarted the car, but i could not get it to move - drive would not work - reverse would not work - still no idiot lights on the dash.i turned the car off and restarted it again - and was able to drive the car. 7/27/11 - same right-hand turn - i was driving between 30-35 mph.i started breaking so i could turn right into my office parking lot.as i started to turn right, the engine just turned off - there were no idiot lights on the dash.i restarted the car and was able to drive the car with no problems.gas gauge showed a little above one-quarter.there were 16,630 miles on car on 7/27/11.my husband's 2010 challenger with low mileage, has stalled twice - most recently on 7/25/12.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge challenger. While driving at 65 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle stalled and was diagnosed by an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that the timing chain tensioner fractured, which caused the connecting rod and piston to exit the oil pan and the side of the engine block. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be repaired; however, the dealer refused to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was included under fca recall p01 (engine, timing chain and chain guide). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000. .....updated 03/15/16 updated 05/24/18

Car suddenly dies/stalls - warning lights come on (various speeds from 20 to 70 mph)most often associated with a small bump in the roadrestarts easily, but occasionally with difficultyhas happened many times (50+) have been to dealer 4 times in the last several months - reprogrammed once, but problem persists and the dealer says cannot duplicate - this is adangerous loss of control and power.

My car lost complete power while turning in a residential area. The vehicle is dead and will not start. The vehicle shut down with no warning. This has happen several times. The local dodge dealer had it 2 weeks an could not determine why

There seems to be issues with the 5.7 ltr dodge engines failing at highway speeds.my first occurrence was sept. 8th, 2011 with 33,358 miles on engine, my second occurrence was on feb 01, 20122 with 43,872 and my third occurrence was aug 9, 2012 with 59,600 miles. Timing chains failure on all occurrences and this is happening to more and more 2009-2010 dodge challengers with automatic transmissions.my concern is that these occurrences are happening at highway speeds greater then 65 mph and eventually will cause serious harm and or death when car shuts down in the middle of rush hour traffic on interstates.this will be my third new engine total of four that will be put in this car with no upgraded parts to prevent these failures.all they keep doing is putting them back together with the same parts that are failing.something needs to be done to correct these problems before some one gets seriously hurt or killed!i can provide more info on a number of challenger that are having these same failures if you request it.

I took my car to the dealer for recalls they didnā€™t fix anything they left my car out in the rain the hood up and choppa had my car for a whole month did any nothing they were very courteous no customer assistance nothing

Engine quit with no warning. Steering and brakes compromised. Shifted into neutral while in traffic.has been occurring more and more frequently. Dealer reports cannot replicate.sounds just like the recalled gm's.

I was driving normal at about 70mph and was exiting highway and the car just died. I pulled over and tried to crank it and nothing. Called a wrecker and they took me to the parts house to get a code checked and it said camshaft position sensor. I bought one and took it home and replaced it and still nothing. You could see that the timing chain had broke through the hole where the sensor went. Over a few weeks i had to replace the timing chain, plastic guide and tensioner (they gave me metal parts as a replacement), hsd to remove the heads and replace all valves because they were bent, had to find and replace broken a valve guide. This was caused from what i was told by the plastic parts wearing out and chrysler is quietly replacing them as people bring them in, i fixed my own and kept receipts and all broken parts. They are also saying it is a harmonic issue with the mds either way i called and made a claim with chrysler and they tried to deny it was common. I have found that it is way more common than are saying and they just don't want to have a recall. I was also yelled at by a manager at freedom dodge when i mentioned this in front of other customers, he said "dodge never does a recall unless its a safety issue!" i said," if i'm going 70mph on the highway and the motor dieing wasn't a safety issue i didn't know what was." he went to the back and was mad and then another employee that was getting my parts whispered to me it more common than they want to admit. I feel like i got ripped off and they are advertising a product that doesn't last, the car only had 70k and hasn't been driven very hard. I spent a little over $1000 to fix this and that was cheap, dodge wanted $7000 to do it and i am not a mechanic, thank goodness for good friend and the internet.

Engine stalls while i am driving. Lose power steering and power brakes when engine quits. Have to shift into neutral while driving and restart.dangerous in intersections ,merging, passing, in wet weather, and in the winter.

While driving, my 2009 dodge challenger randomly cuts off. I can barely turn my steering wheel.the engine was off. My stereo, lights were all still on and never cut off. I never had any kind of warning that anything was wrong. My car at least once a week does this at any given time. My car never indicates anything is wrong. I have taken my car to auto zone and had a diagnostic ran to see if it would tell me what could be wrong with my car. Nothing turned up.

Car just stalls no warning hi way speed your turning cant steer the car or stop it gives no codesstope or driving it will just lose power and stall not safe .very random never know when it is going to happen

The contact owns a 2009 dodge challenger. While driving 30-70 mph, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (ron carter chrysler jeep dodge, 3005 fm 528 rd, alvin, tx 77511, (281) 331-8111) where it was diagnosed that the rotors and ball joints needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown.

Sudden engine stall at stop sign, at idleand also while on highway at speed.oil light comes on intermittentno codes ,oil level checked , gas was good . Many on everychallenger forums are having this issue "stalling" , evenbrand new cars right off the lot. Dodge rejects there's an issue, from dealers to the top. Please help!we don't trust our cars!

The contact owned a 2009 dodge challenger. While driving 15 mph, all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. In addition, the gauges displayed incorrect readings and the radio failed to function. The vehicle was taken to an auto part center, but was not diagnosed or repaired. Also, while driving 15 mph, the vehicle stalled and the engine compartment caught fire. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. A police report was filed. No injuries were sustained. The vehicle was towed from the scene to a salvage yard where it was completely destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 135,000.

When driving and slowing to make a right turn apply pressure to the break the car just stalls i have all dash lights put the car in park and it restarts back up this has happened six times now that i owned the car has 65.0000 miles on it need info on what to do the dealer said they never heard of this going on this takes place at any speed slow or fast turns

The contact owns a 2009 dodge challenger. The contact stated that while approaching a stop sign at 25 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled and all the lights on the instrument panel flashed. The contact shifted into park and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The failure continued and the vehicle was taken to another authorized dealer. The dealer was unable to locate the failure but noticed that there was a kill switch. The vehicle was taken to a third dealer who removed the anti theft device installed by another dealer. The failure continued and the vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 31,706 and the current mileage was approximately 33,000.

Vehicle has a severe throttle lad when in 4 to 6 gear when letting off pedal then returning back into throttle.

Car periodically stalls when coming to a stop.dealer does not know the cause- may be computer-related.friends having the same dodge vehicle have had their car stall in heavy high speed traffic.this could cause a serious or fatal crash.

The dealership flashed the pcm as detailed in service bulletin 18-021-09 rev. A.immediately after that i noticed an intermittent throttle lag.when pressing the gas pedal, the car will wait 1/2 to 3/4 second, then the engine will respond and the car will go.merging into highway traffic is now dangerous as the car will not always respond to the pedal input.when it finally does respond the car will surge forward (since i'm pushing down more on the pedal trying to get the car to move).this is dangerous as the rear tires can lose traction on wet roads.the dealership hooked up a portable data logger and road tested the vehicle.they were able to verify the complaint.they sent the results to chrysler's engineers.those engineers reviewed the data and said, "the vehicle is operating as designed, delay is normal, we see nothing wrong."i had the car for 22 months prior to this update and never had the problem before.

Overview: my 2009 dodge challenger r/t, with the 5.7l hemi engine and manual 6-speed transmission, has an excessive delay between pressing the throttle and achieving engine response. This occurs only in gears 4-6, and is the result of a powertrain control module (pcm) update.background: this vehicle has an electronic throttle ("drive by wire") system, where throttle response is controlled by the pcm and not via a throttle cable.history: on october 14, 2011, i brought my vehicle to my local dodge/chrysler dealership due to a rough engine idle. They informed me that a pcm update was available, based on technical service bulletin (tsb) 18-014-10.this update changed the engine calibration id from 05187899ae to 05187899ag. Ever since this update was performed, the vehicle has a significant (and unsafe) throttle delay while in gears 4-6.basically, when the throttle is depressed, it takes about 2 seconds for the engine to respond.this has resulted in several near-collisions, during times where acceleration is expected to avoid an unsafe road condition but the vehicle fails to respond in a timely manner.to demonstrate the problem, you could actually rapidly pulse the throttle repeatedly without having any engine response at all.this issue affects all owners of 2009-2010 dodge challenger r/ts with the 05187899ag calibration id.as of this date, no pcm update has been released to correct this unsafe condition.

2009 dodge challenger, complete engine shutoff after decelerating. Very dangerous. Breaks and steering shut off. Has happened 4 times to me.there are dozens of reports of this located here:http://www.challengertalk.com/forums/f36/engine-stalling-35997/.

Car just stalls as if turned key off at erratic times.

2009 dodge challenger rt auto, while driving along at highway speed the car literally just died, no rime or reason.pulled off the highway and restarted the car, check engine light came on, went to boerne dodge and they couldn't figure out the problem.said the light just went away.and if it happens again to bring it back.

2009 dodge challenger r/t loses power while under load such as going up hills or passing; and the rpm pulsates.this condition appears to occur more in hot weather. Upon deceleration, transmission shifts so roughly that vehicle lost traction in slippery road conditions, and nearly resulted in a crash.these appear to be two separate conditions that make the vehicle extremely unsafe.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge challenger. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact pulled over, restarted the vehicle and drove to the local dealer where he was told that the failure could not be duplicated. The failure occurred again. The vehiclehad not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000 and the current mileage was approximately 14,600.updated 02/01/11*ljupated 04/14/11

Issue # 1) i have an automatic transmission 2009dodge challenger rt. So i was driving under normal conditions accelerating normally and the engine coughs...strange. Then it does it again, a very sudden cough like it is struggling for air, the vehicle almost shudders too.engine code pops up. Head to auto zone and have it checked - p0730 gear ratio incorrect. This has happen a few time within the past few weeks .to car to the dealership- they saw the same code . Because the car was driving normal again they did nothing . Planning to take it back in so they can pull the trans. Issue # 2) today 8/11/10 - i was driving on the express way with an over a 1/2 tank of gas, doing about 60 to 70 mph. About 30 min into my drive, suddenly all my dashboard light/symbols pop on and my car lost all power.to avoid get rear ended i had to pull over on the side of the road.

While driving home from work coming to the turn and slowing down the car literally just died while oncoming traffic was coming down the road.all lights came on and car was dead.put in park and restarted with no cel. Dealership has no idea why its doing this.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge challenger equipped with a kidde fire extinguisher. In 2011, the contact attempted to use the fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire in another vehicle, but it did not function. The fire was eventually extinguished by another vehicle owner with a different fire extinguisher. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v824000 (equipment); however, the kidde manufacturer refused to replace the fire extinguisher because the contact discarded the original equipment due to the failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Parts distribution disconnect.

My 2009 dodge challenger stalls while driving and mostly happens while making turns.it happens randomly and you never know when it is going to happen.you lose all power and there is no power steering when this happens.it is very unsafe and this has been happening to a lot of challenger owners.at this time chrysler hasn't released a fix for this problem.

1.slowing down to make a left or right hand turn.2.car stalls and engine dies eliminating all power steering brakes, etc.3.car has to be put in neutral and restarted.4.cel will come on but goes out after restart.5.issue has occurred three times with two different engines.6.the last incident happened in a busy intersection and almost got me rear ended.

My car lost complete power while turning in a residential area. The vehicle is dead and will not start. The vehicle shut down with no warning. This has happen several times. The local dodge dealer had it 2 weeks an could not determine why

My car is locking its self in first gear and is hard to shift out of gear. This is at a stand still. Upon first getting into the car. This happens nearly everyday now for approximately, 4 months. I now back into my parking spot. Also, at high speeds, its getting difficult to shift as well. Gears are grinding as they go into gear. Most recently was saturday march 18th 2017. I was on interstate 5 in oregon. Heading home. Grinded every gear as i shifted. I engaged the clutch all the way on every shift and it still grinded its gears.

2009-2010 dodge challengers came out with grease on the input shaft that pretty much turned to glue when hot.the star case # is [xxx].dodge never issued a recall.there are threads all over the internet that show as many as 50% of the tremec 6060 6-speeds were affected, but unless you took it to the dealer by chance, or happened upon a forum, you were out of luck.i recently took my car in due to problems shifting.the throw out bearing and pilot bearing were fused to the input shaft causing it to warp and damage the transmission.this is exactly why dodge had the star case number issued. So, they declined my claim.the initial repair estimates were 3500.00, now it is 5100.00 because you cannot buy the 2009-2010 parts any longer and must upgrade to the carbon fiber parts used in 2011 and up (additional 1000.00).if there was nothing wrong and nothing to recall, why can you no longer get replacement parts?information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Known tremec tr6060 issue & dodge refuses to help!! star case# s1021000004 & k38556860. The grease used in the transmission turns into a glue at high temps causing the trans to not shift properly through the gears either going into gear or getting stuck coming out of gear. If hot enough this grease fuses the pilot & throwout bearing to the input shaft requiring those be replaced at minimum. This happened to me & the car could not be put in 1st-4th without a severe grinding noise. It can be heard in the trans & felt in both the stick & clutch pedal. The only way to slow down was to put the car in neutral & use the brakes without any engine control. Because of this high heat fusion i had to have essentially the entire trans rebuilt (bearings, synchros, input shaft & gaskets). When i spoke with dodge (both the number listed on their website & local dealership) they acknowledged this was a known problem & that the parts have been "reworked" so the issue doesn't continue. Said parts are at a cost of $2,000 before labor. I was told that because my car is out of warranty by date that i was not covered because even though the issue is known & there are multiple reports of it all over the web there is noofficial recall & i have to pay completely out of pocket. This car is on 09 & has less than 30k miles on it!! i'm still in disputes with dodge as of now but this is completely unacceptable.

Manuel transmission grinds/hard to shift into the next gears. Feels like the clutch isnt completely disengageing and if you park with it in gear you cant get it out of gear to put it into nuetral, sticks or locks in gear. Sometimes double clutching it doesnt help

2009 challenger r/t stalled, cranked and would not restart. The car has stalled 5 times once getting on a highway. I had it towed to a dealer they replaced the valve body and map sensor. The car has stalled a few days later and is now at another dealer. They can't seem to find the problem and i don't want to put i 3 kids in the car till i know its fixed. It seems to stall in different conditions (hot , cold, moving, when first started, etc).

Engine quit with no warning. Steering and brakes compromised. Shifted into neutral while in traffic.has been occurring more and more frequently. Dealer reports cannot replicate.sounds just like the recalled gm's.

There is a known defect with the tremecs as assembled in 2009... The grease they used was incorrect.please reference vehicle issue trans is hard to shift into gear.year 2009model lc - challengerengine 6.1l srt hemi (smpi) v8, 5.7l hemi vct, 5.7l hemi vctmds (ezd)system or component;geardriver input / vehicle operation; shiftingcase verification; vehicle affected is the lc challenger equipped with a manualtransmission. It may be difficult to shift in and out of gear.recommendation ;repair this condition by removing the transmission, cleaning thetransmission input shaft splines and the clutch hub splines, regreasing, and putting all the same parts back together. No parts need to be replaced because clutch disc wear or shaft/hub spline wear are not contributing factors.the clutch should be removed from the flywheel to properly cleanthe clutch splines, because it is not possible to thoroughly cleanthe clutch splines otherwise. Do not use harsh spray solvents(brake clean, etc.) on the clutch discs... Care must be taken tokeep cleaning solvents away from the clutch friction material.mineral spirits or similar will get the job done. Both of the clutchhub splines and transmission input shaft splines must becarefully cleaned. When applying the grease for reassembly, theentire exposed length of the clutch hub splines (both discs) andthe entire length of the input shaft should be lightly coated withthe p/n 05083150aa grease, spread evenly on all splineswithout excess. The flywheel does not need to be removed forthis repair. New clutch pressure plate to flywheel bolts p/n06508880aa (quantity 6) must be used.saw this happen yesterday with difficulty shifting out of first on an incline. Enough people are seeing this problem that a recall must happen. This can affect the transmission at speed.

I was driving on the highway, traveling at an approximate speed of 65 miles per hour, when all of a sudden the car loses power, and at that point i could no longer accelerate my vehicle. Fortunately, traffic wasn't too bad, so i was able to safely pull over to shoulder without getting rear ended by the cars that were traveling at very high speeds. Soon thereafter, i had my 2009 rt dodge challenger towed to the dealership, apparently, the timing chain broke.it doesn't end there, not only is this vehicle fairly new, but i attempted to fix it already on multiple occasions, but it seems as if nothing helped. Currently my vehicle now has acquired engine damage as a result of the dealership being unable to properly diagnose and address these issues, for lack of knowing what the real issue was all along. In all honesty, i feel as if they need to recall the timing chains on the rt dodge challengers before more people end up in my situation, or worse.

The vehicle is experiencing difficulty taking the manual transmission out of gear with the clutch pedal fully depressed.this occurs on both cold and hot start up as well as when driving or stopping during in town driving. This creates a dangerous situation in that the driver could inadvertently roll into an intersection where they do not have the right of way, another vehicle, pedestrian or building. The vehicle will "creep" on flat ground if it is not placed in neutral and the brake is released.using our friend google i have researched this issue and it appears from discussion on multiple forums that it is a known issue for my and other model years. Two case numbers from the manufacturer seem to indicate that there is a procedure for correcting this issue. Case numbers are k38556860 and s1021000004. The case numbers are not recalls and i have never been notified of the issue by the manufacturer.i have attached a file with the two cases that explain an inspection and remedy procedure. 11/14/2019 is not the correct date of the occurrence, it has been happening for a number of years. Best guess is this issue started sometime in 2016, exact date unknown, vehicle mileage is estimated.due to the nature of the possible dangerous situation i feel this must be addressed to the manufacturer and possibly made into a recall of all vehicles affected to accomplish the remedy as described in the attached cases..

Car gets stuck in gear when parked and is difficult to shift when driving.the car when parked is on a flat surface and you need to yank it out of gear when the car is running. If you back up the car and try to take it out of reverse you have to yank it out of gear.

Hello! hard shifting 6speed manual: i have been having shifting problems with my manual trans for a couple of months. It started back in nov 11 when traveling out of town, got stuck in traffic and clutch started to not disingauge all the way (would creep) had to hold foot on brake or put in neutral even after pulling off the road. Latter when coming home baked into parking space turn key off wanted to put in other gear was very hard to pull out of reverse. Has gotten worse, it is getting harder to shift while driving. My wife went to get on the highway and had very hard time going into lower gear almost getting hit in the rear.dodge says worn clutch, but it doesn't slip, but they have a notice about grease being on input spline thats the clutch slides on getting dirty from to much grease and dirt, making the disc stick not fully disengaging. This is a manufacturing defect, assembling line defect not mine. Been to two dealers and ask 4 about the problem.

The vehicle will stick in gear with the clutch pedal fully disengaged (pressed to the floor) and the vehicle will continue to be driven by the engine power.this issue can cause the vehicle to enter an intersection or run over a pedestrian despite the driver's efforts to disengage the vehicle's transmission/drive system.chrysler addressed the issue as excessive grease on the input shaft splines collecting excessive amounts of dirt which did not allow movement of the clutch disc on the input shaft.

Faulty tcm after purchasing my car it would hard shift in the 3rd and 4th gearand i realize that shortly after purchasing it chant and then one night i was on the freeway and between 2 semi trucks when it's just neutral and then tried shifting into 2nd gear which almost caused me to wreck in between 2 semi trucks which was not cool and now my car only shiftsinto 1st and 2nd gear and when it gets to 3rd it neutrals , it won't go into 3rd or 4th gear .i took it into the dealership to get new software uploaded on my tcm they said it was fine so i drove it out the parking lot and still doing the sa.e thing won't shift into 3rd gear so i took it to another shop to have it looked at because i didn't want to risk my life driving the car.i'm not gonna take it back to a place that just gotten to tell me that everything was fine when it's clearly not so we put it on a lift inspected it and it shifts from 1st all the way up to 4th no problem and then soon as you put it on the ground and start driving it ,it does the same thing neutrals when it gets the 3rd . Then after looking further into the car the mechanic noticed how small the groundwire was compared to the power wthe power wire and it wasn't getting enough voltage so i'm thinking that also could be a major issue later on down the road and that might even be the cause of the tcm going bad. It's just crazy to me a car would beokayto be sold with the problems it has and there's a lot of people online with the same kinda of problems as mineall i have to say is i'm lucky that i'm alive due to these problems.

I took my car to the dealer for recalls they didnā€™t fix anything they left my car out in the rain the hood up and choppa had my car for a whole month did any nothing they were very courteous no customer assistance nothing

I own a 2009 dodge challenger srt.i was driving 30mph down a street, honked the horn and braked at the same time and my car completely turned off while still in drive.i have asked all american in odessa where i purchased the car to fix it and they told me that there is no recall on my model car.i printed out recall #08v458000 on the power train automatic transmission. Apparently a module is to be replaced so that the car will not be able to turn off unless it is in park only.this sounds like the problem that i had.the technician at all american said he could not help me since there was not a recall on his (chrysler) web that requested replacing my model car module.i am just afraid that this will happen again and possibly cause injury. Please let me know what i need to do to get all american to listen to me.i may be the only one that this has happen to so far but i sure hope that it does not happen again or to anyone else just because it was not on his web recall page.

The 1-4 gear shift skip feature, which is supposed to improve fuel economy, can lead to missed shifts or loss of vehicle power during low speed maneuvering, possibly leading to a crash. A commercially available low cost component disables this feature, however it requires the consumer to void their manufacturer warranty in order to fix a safety defect.

This car is not frequently driven and serves as a sports car only, not a commuter, it only has 025,379 miles on it. It's a six speed manual trans with clutch pedal. While driving the car noticed what felt like brakes (all of them) dragging, increasing the load against the clutch and throttle. Not extremely but enough to notice. This seemed to be getting worse and i was concerned about a malfunction with computer override features like "hill-assist" and "stability control", both i generally switch off. After about 20 minutes of driving slow surface street speeds, stop & go, i came to a stop sign and the brake pedal went to the floor. The car did slowly stop. I was "on alert" and was using the gears to slow anticipating a possible failure. We were going to dinner and after about 4 more pedal to floor stops, it was parked for just over an hour and regained it's brake pedal pressure after sitting. I cautiously drove straight home. There were no warning lights on the dash of any type at anytime. I think this indicates some computer or other system failure connected with this. Conditions were a 90 plus degree day with the a/c-on. Things seemed hot under the hood and around the master cylinder and reservoir when i first parked for that hour. Other than "no warnings", the other significant fact is, neither of us smelled overheated brake materials as you typically would. This i find really odd because if it wasn't the brakes dragging on the car, why did they fail and go to the floor "while hot" ?as it is my habit at all times, i pulled the parking brake release a lot, assuring it was off through this. It's in working order and holds the car when i pressed it's pedal down, clicking and locking it to do so. I know of others who have had weird brake failures with other year model challengers.please check on this !thank you for your time.

Engine quit with no warning. Steering and brakes compromised. Shifted into neutral while in traffic.has been occurring more and more frequently. Dealer reports cannot replicate.sounds just like the recalled gm's.

Steel brake lines rusted through and dumped all brake fluid resulting in total brake failure.... Was parking the vehicle when line failed thank god...

2009 dodge challenger.consumer writes in regards to a defective serpentine belt tensioner.the consumer stated the belt came off and the vehicle lost power steering. According to the invoice, the pulley melted and the bearing froze up. The consumer stated it was the second time, the same part exploded, which caused the serpentine belt to come off. The vehicle had to be towed back to the dealer.

I took my car in to the local dodge dealer for a scheduled inspection of the drive train. The inspection was good, but a shop note indicated there was a leak in the power steering system. The tech filled the power steering fluid reservoir and the service department rep indicated she would call me later when i asked about the cost to repair the leak situation. When the service department later called, i was told that the repairs would require replacing the rack and pinion unit and connecting hoses, etc. I asked about the cost, and was told the cost would be in excess of $1100! i expressed my dismay and said i needed to think that over. The service rep then indicated i should keep an eye on the steering fluid level until repairs were made! this vehicle is like new! i have approx. 12000 miles on it in almost 5 years!i investigated this situation via the internet, and i found this is a common issue with these vehicles. I then searched recalls, and to my surprise, there is no recall for this! i am of the opinion that chrysler motors should have made the owners aware of this recurring issue, so owners could have had repair work done while said vehicles were still under warranty. I consider this to negligence on their part(chrysler), and feel they should pay for this repair in part or in full.i apologize if i am filing my report with the wrong agency, but i would appreciate you reviewing this situation or redirecting me to the people who may assist me.

Ordered new tires for vehicle, i was told that the rack and pinion was leaking and it would cost $ 585.00 to fix it.i drive this vehicle summers only.i have only 15000 miles on the car.i do not believe this should happen this early.the car has never been in any kind of mishap.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge challenger. While the vehicle was undergoing routine maintenance, the mechanic noticed rust along the wheel well of the vehicle. The contact was informed that the foam on the vehicle near the area holding water caused rust, which was a common issue. The certified mechanic referred the contact to a chrysler dealer. The contact called the royal gate dodge chrysler jeep ram dealer (located at 15502 manchester road, ellisville, mi 63011; 636-394-3400) and was informed that due to the mileage on the vehicle and there being no extended warranty, they would not be able to repair the vehicle for free. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge challenger. While cleaning the vehicle, the contact noticed that the rear wheel well panels on both sides were corroded. The dealer stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.*as

Vehicle has a severe throttle lad when in 4 to 6 gear when letting off pedal then returning back into throttle.

My 2009 challenger caught on fire taking with it my garage! car was parked and as soon as the ignition key was turned, smoke was coming out of car from front side passenger area near front wheel/hood area.within mins the car was up in flames along with my garage. I cant understand what caused this to happen. Car was running great! just one day it decided to ignite in flames. I cant explain it. As a woman trying to figure out what went wrong is even worse. Dodge wont help me. Ive tried contacting them and i dont hear from them.

While driving at a rate of 30mph car stalls without any reason. This has happened 8 times. When turning corners into busy intersection, it just frightens me to think of unsuspecting fast moving traffic that could hit me. I have read others who have the same problem why is there no recall? i only have 30 thousand on my car really! i have a car with low miles and pay a pretty note so i don't have these problems. I dread having to take it in tomorrow.

Car has a starling issue coming to a slow start up or making a right or left hand her car will just store then it starts right back up and runs fine dealership has made numerous attempts to repair still problem has not been taken care of

The contact owns a 2009 dodge challenger. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would surge forward. The contact also stated that the vehicle would intermittently hesitate for approximately two to three seconds when pressure was applied to the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that there was no current repair for the failure, but they were aware that the failure was common. The failure had occurred intermittently for the past year and a half. The failure mileage was 69,000. The vin was unavailable.

When you step on the accelerator in 4th, 5th or 6th gear the car hesitates for a second or longer before accelerating.there are many owners with this problem caused by a flash of the computer dodge performed and dodge has yet to fix the problem.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge challenger srt8. The contact was traveling 20 mph. The contact removed his foot from the accelerator but the vehicle maintained the current speed despite without decelerating. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 5,000 and the current mileage was 20,000.

I am having same issues as everyone else. I recently started having issues where my automatic transmission is sticking in gear and doesn't shift like it needs to. I also, have to either pull over and shut the car off or shift it into manual transmission. This is a huge problem the manufacture needs to deal with.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge challenger. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle accelerated to approximately 125 mph without warning. The contact called watermark chrysler dodge jeep ram at 800-549-3637 (located at 1055 crossing pl, madisonville, ky 42431) and was informed to bring the vehicle to their facility. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 139,109.

The gas pedal stop working going up a grade then started working after put the pedal to the floor.

It's rally got to go or be painted black.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge challenger. The contact stated that there was a blind spot on the passengerā€™s side rear-view mirror. The contact stated that due to manufacturing of the mirror, it was difficult to switch lanes or see oncoming traffic due to the defect. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure on several occasions but provided no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
