Takata recall -- i have changed the alternator, starter , had the electrical box worked on by my mechanic. At this moment my vehicle does not start and hasn't started for a week. 3 years ago the vehicle stop in the middle of traffic while my daughter was driving.it would not start or turn over., had to be pushed into a parking lot.

At 7:40am,thursday 3/5/ 15 i was driving my vehicle to go drop my son off at school the wiper blade started going on and off by themselves and then smoke started coming from underneath the horn on the steering wheel and then the airbag deployed hitting my hand and burning my left hand it filled my van full of smoked where we couldn't see i almost got into an accident i pulled the vehicle over roll the windows down clear it out all the smoke then i dropped my son off at school drove the vehicle to the closest dealership took pictures of the wiper blades, the airbag deploying, the time, the traffic in the background, to prove that i was not in an accident. The service advisor at larry h miller chrysler jeep was very rude told me that i would probably end up paying for this or that i could call my insurance company i left the vehicle at the dealership got a call later on this evening saying that they were going to contact chrysler so i went ahead and called chrysler myself got into an argument with them. They told me that they were going to investigate it and they put the vehicle on hold for any repairs until the investigation was done and now in the meantime i am a single father with five children i have no vehicle and they will not offer me a rent a car when i call and leave a message for the service advisor or the service manager at the dealership they ignore my phone calls and do not return my phone calls when i call chrysler they tell me that they have sent me over to the accident claims department and that they are waiting for further word. I heard from another dodge caravan on her that this could possibly take up to 3 months of arbitration before i even have an answer as to when or how or where my vehicle will be repaired fixed or replaced.

Takatarecall, van stopped on side of major highway and would not start, had van towed to an authorized dealorship who quoted an outraged price to fix van, said problem was the "tipm" modular faulty by which they have seen many, this is a safety problem that need to be recalled and the problem fix, with so many cars with same problem that's a big issue. Please help.

After months of trying to get a recall taken care of, the dealer still says that the faulty switch, which can cause a fire is still not available, this is getting ridiculous

When the alternator is bad the car will go off in the midst of driving in motion on a city street.i was unable to use the hazard light or tell the cars behind me that i was in trouble, the key gets stuck in the ignition.you are just stopped wherever you are.my family could have died it cut off in the middle of the street.

Faulty tipm module, car won't start, replaced battery, replaced spark plugs, added bypass, and now still will not start. Started in july with just the battery dying and then august the fuses blew and between september and november i have jumped it weekly. Now it is completly dead. Jumping the battery no longer works. One local chrysler dealer states there is a 4-5 month wait due to parts recall, another dealer states there is no recall on my vehicle for this issue.

It has been about 2 years when i contacted the car dealer with the notice you sent me. All they did was disconnected the rear windows but never connected them back. Still now they are disconnected. The dealer told me that they where going to call me as soon as the parts came in it is august 25, 2015 and still no answer from them. The last time i called them was in january left a messages but got no return call. What can i do since it is august and the rear windows are still disconnected. I have not been able to use them. They do not work. I don't think that they are stillwaiting for the parts. They ordered them but never installed them in my vehicle.

The tipn is bad. We have several dodge caravans that have the same issue.

After driving at highway speeds for 2 hours, when returning home and shutting off the engine, i heard whirling noises coming from my fuel tank. Upon moving the vehicle, 30 minutes later, the van experienced a rough start. The following morning, the battery was dead. After jumping off the vehicle, it ran smoothly but i am concerned this will happen again.

Tipm is defective, fuel pump relay overheats resulting in engine stopping ,can result in loss of control of vehicle, this is a wheelchair van not a good situation, chrysler replaced part under policy warrenty ,would not stand behind labor cost to replace, this should be their responsibility as it is a safety issue

Car randomly will not start, can randomly stalls as well. Been reading that it's related to the tipm but chrysler won't issue a recall. They've issued recalls for the exact same year for the dodge durango, why is this any different? highly frustrated for the consumer and dangerous for when our van has stalled while driving. Complete power loss.

Vehicle would stall out on starting, then would not start at all. Cost $1800 to fix.

I took the van to dealer ( at the tinme that it did turned on) spoke to a dealer man and he check through my vin number if it was under warranty first (which is not) he mentioned to me that if i get the codes and the codes match i wouldnt be charged the diagnosticcharges. I took the van (mind you they know am a woman alone and van doesnt turn on) to auto zone got the codes. Once i got the codes print out, i got stuck bc the van would not turn on. With many attemps i mange to turn on and went straight home. The next day i took the van to the dealers and left it there over night. The codes happens to match and they told me they could fix van bc the cylinder head and 3 spark plugs where under warranty but the van takes 3 extra spark plugs and pressure sensor is malfuntion and needs to be replaced in order for van to work properly. I agree! the next day he calls me back to p/u van. I had one of the dealers pick me up at work, when i get there he charges me $124.34 just for diagnostic and van wasnt fix to bring the next day bc the pieces neededto be order. I took van in the morning jan 12 he said van would be ready jan 14. Jan 14 he called me that van was ready. I go and even before they showed me van that it works, i had to pay $226.63 in order for them to give me keys. When i go to get my van and turn on..... The van did not turn on... Ofcourse i went in very upset and told them i wasnt living until van was fix. They gave me a rental yesterday jan 14 and have not heard from them yet. Dodge company should remake all this cars bc they are cleary a piece of crap. Not only that but they are fast to charge $$$ instead of making sure the safety of the customer should be first. I am very dissapointent that i am in this situation and the van in from 2011 year is not old at all. What can dodge do for me? i bet nothing

Dealership trying to have me replace battery and fuel pumpeven though they know what the problem is. Having to get the tipm replaced. Car wont start easily or at all. Shuts off by itself. Having to pay $1200 to get this fixed. Crooks!

The engine would only start after multiple attempts.i took it to the dealer and was advised that the tipm would need to be replaced.the tipm controls many of the systems -including the starting system and other safety systems.we were fortunate not to have the engine/power systems fail while the vehicle was being driven.this is a design/manufacturing issue that should be recalled. The vehicle no longer starts. We are waiting on the tipm to be backordered.the part price is $647 with another $175 for labor and $105 for diagnostic at the dealer.

I towed my car to my local garage & they ran a diagnostic and said i had a faulty tipm. They could not fix it because it had to be programmed at a dealership. I took my car to summit dodge and they said there were "updates" available to fix the tipm for $207. That did not work and the next day my car would not start again. They then replaced the tipm for an additional $1130. This part was recalled in the durangos and the jeep grand cherokee, but not the caravan. It's the same part!! there is also a class action lawsuit against chrysler for faulty tipms and i feel my part should be covered under that recall/lawsuit.

Vehicle would not start, tried checking battery and jumping vehicle still would not start. Vehicle finally started after about 20 minutes right before i was about call a tow truck. I have taken and had it looked at by two different service centers who both told me that nothing was wrong. It has done this several times since and i am concerned that i will be left stranded due to this problem.

Sliding doors will open automatically as i'm driving. Heater stays stuck on on. While driving the van will shut off. Its a safety issue when i have 4 small children in the van with me.

Starting just after a year of having this van it would randomly not start.this has happened easily 50 times. Sometimes after 10 minutes it starts and then 2 times it has had to be towed.have brought it in to the dodge dealer we purchased it from approximately 5 times. Besides being told that they were finding nothing wrong, we were also told it was the battery. That was replaced and the problem still continued.we have a 2011 dodge caravan.

I have had an on going issue with my cars battery being dead after being turned off.this only happened at night.my daughter came home late and told me that the car had something ruining in the car.i also hear it and tried to start my car and again the battery was dead.i again charged it and was able to start the car as i turned it off again i could hear what sounded like a motor running even when the ignition switch was off and key removed.to prevent my battery from running down i removed the positive side battery cable to save it from being run down again.i called the dealership on 11-25-15 and told them what was going on.they told me to bring the car in on 11-27-15 and they would check it out.i meet with a service agent by the name of joey at the dealership who said he would call later.after, eight hours i called joey to find out if they were able to find anything.i was told it was the tipm and it would be costly to repair. I told him i need the car back and would call the customer service line about getting this cost covered since my car is only 4 years old.he told me that i would have to pay the $128 diagnostic fee regardless.he said that they sill wanted to check car and call saturday.i called he was not there , was told i could pick up car and fee was waived. I was never told by anyone at the dealership that there was an ongoing issue with this part and that driving the car could result is loss of power and braking. I was surprised that they waived the fee now i understand why.i had to find out about the issue and litigation by searching the internet.i will have to replace the battery again, the alternator and tipm which will run over $1500 which we can not afford.i hope the dealership is written up for failure to warn about a possible deadly problem . Given the problem the company should pay all cost to get my car fixed.

The check engine light comes on and goes off repeatedly. The van does not want to start 3 out of 5 times after it was just starting and running fine. The windows roll down on there own when the vehicle is locked. The sliding doors have opened on their own.

For the past several weeks we have had intermittent problems starting our van. It will occasionally do nothing when the key is turned, it will also just turn over without starting. The second problem seemed to be getting progressively worse- meaning that it would take more attempts to crank it. This past weekend it would not crank after many attempts. After troubleshooting most of the day i realized that the fuel pump seemed to be working only every now and then. I found a website that instructed how to make a tester to determine if it was a fuel pump relay issue on the tipm. Sure enough we were able to determine that the relay was the issue. It certainly seems that i am one among many people that are having problems with the tipm. I hope that they recognize the severity of the problem and resolve it swiftly.

Van wont start. After two weeks i have been told it was the tipm module that is defective and a estimate of over $1,200 to repair. I have seen all over the internet that this is a know problem to chrysler. When is a recall going to be started?

The tipm module was faulty, causing the fuel pump to either not engage when trying to start the vehicle, or cut out while the vehicle was in motion, other times the fuel pump would remain on after turning off the vehicle...pumping gasoline fumes into our garage for long periods of time.dodge refused to acknowledge that this was a tipm failure and instead tried to convince me to replace the fuel pump multiple times...we did replace the fuel pump once which had not affect on this issue.

Only had van less than 2 years went to store came home turned van off but then decided to goout again tried to start van would not start tried 4 time then it started . Went to dmv wheni came out van would notstart called aaa tow came and tried tostart after 4 tries van started , will be taking it to dealer this week wonder what they have to say about this. I'm still paying a car note on it.

We received a recall in or around december 2014 on our dodge caravan (2011). I called larry miller dodge dealership on 2-6-2015 was informed that the parts are a month to a month in a half out to call back in six weeks. On 4-14-2015 i call larry miller dodge dealership again and was told they still have nothing in to fix the recall. So i call same dealership on 5-2-2015 and was told that it is still on back order and they have no idea when it will be in. This is uncalled for-- it to be 6 months and nothing being done!

Rear a/c evaporator is bad, needing replaced. Vehicle has 57000 miles.

We started having issues starting our car in october. Autozone said nothing was wrong. A couple weeks later the battery was dead. We replaced it and $179 later the problem is worse. The key has been stuck in the ignition twice. The mechanical doors stop working halfway through opening or closing every now and then. Googling issues brings up nothing but tipm issues which chrysler has known about for how long? yet they continue to refuse to issue a recall for their mistake leaving the outrageous amount on us to pay to fix. Are we really waiting for people to start dying because of this faulty issue? the vehicle shuts down in the middle of the road! if you can get it started.

2011 dodge caravan, won't start and will die while driving. Occurs 95% of the time when starting or driving vehicle. Replaced fuel pump and problem was not fixed. Next thing to change is the relay or the tipm. Was a recall for other dodge vehicles for the same issue.

I have been sent several recall notices and have contacted dealer 4 times. They disconnected the rear quarter window but did not have part to repair. This last time i contacted they still do not have the (green light) part required to correct the problem. Seems to be a problem getting the part. They emailed an order to me for the part but they just did that. It has been months waiting on this part and i cannot recall the first time i received the first notification. I would really like to get this repaired so i can use the window.thanx

All of sudden the the engine fails to run after i hit the switch to the cranking position. After multiple attempts the engine will run. This happens a multitude of times. I'm afraid the engine will stop all together and i can get stranded in the middle of nowhere. I've had the cam sensor changed, but the problem keeps going. Need help asap. I use my van to commute back and forth to my job. Help, please!

Van has shut off several times while in motion. Once while idle at a stop light. I spoke with a mechanic who told me it was the key fob. I changed to my spare key to see if this made any difference but the van shut off twice since then.there is a recall for this issue on the 2010 models but not 2011. This needs to be looked at asap. Luckily there has not been any traffic behind me when it has stopped while driving.i have 2 young children and this is a major safety concern. Does someone have to be seriously injured or killed before the recall gets extended to 2011 vehicles?

The contact owns a 2011 dodge caravan. While driving 50 mph, the engine stalled without warning and was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (garden city jeep chrysler dodge ram, 283 n. Franklin street, hempstead, ny 11550), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer where the win module and power train control module were determined to be the failed components. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. It was then diagnosed that the tipm failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost of the repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000. The vin was not available. Vehicle would stall out on starting, then would not start at all. Cost $1800 to fix.

Vehicle randomly will crank excessively and not start; once started will sputter out and die.first occurred on 11/18/14.repaired at no charge. Was told that recall on same engine (3.6 liter) in jeep line but hadn't happen yet on dodge caravan.replaced fuel pump (customer paid) and didn't fix problem

The van is having problems starting up it's like the starter is not getting enough fuel and my thermometer just went outone day my van would not work. I got home from work went in the house cam e back out to go to other store and the remote wouldn't work the vehicle i replaced the battery and it still didn't work so messed around with the fuse box and and after i done that it started right up i also had to bypass the tipm so that the van would start properly and not make my starter stick

While coming to a red light the engine just stop withoutwarning. The vehicle will not start after several attempts.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start up without warning. Her father inspected under the hood and discovered that the wiring within the fuse box was melting due to the fuel pump relay. The contact went to an independent mechanic where she purchased jump wire cables and fuses. Her father repaired the vehicle and the vehicle resumed normal driving operation. Recently, while her son was stopped at a stop light, the vehicle began shaking and shut-off without warning. Her son was able to restart the vehicle however, the failure returned soon after start-up. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the replacement wires had started melting. Despite the failure, the contact's son was able to drive the vehicle home where it remained. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The vin was not available.

I replaced a fuel pump because my van would start only after excessive cranks and then would not stay started. After replacing unit, the problem came back the very next day. My mechanic was stumped so he went on line to find out that this problem is associated with the tipm module. The same problem that other dodges have and is covered under a recall, this van is not under such a recall, yet has the same symptoms. I would like to know why? this is a danger to my wife and kids. The fuel pump relay which is the problem could stop at any time while the car is being driven and cause a serious accident. Please, do something so that people can be safe while driving this car!

Van wont start. After two weeks i have been told it was the tipm module that is defective and a estimate of over $1,200 to repair. I have seen all over the internet that this is a know problem to chrysler. When is a recall going to be started?

Dealership trying to have me replace battery and fuel pumpeven though they know what the problem is. Having to get the tipm replaced. Car wont start easily or at all. Shuts off by itself. Having to pay $1200 to get this fixed. Crooks!

Van cranks but won't start. Have to try to crank it multiple times before it will start. Have replaced battery and fuel pump.

Vehicle started exhibiting problems in 2013.it would not start at random times for no reason.towed to dealership where they diagnosed it as a battery problem and the battery was replaced.the problem persisted and we received replacement battery form the dealership.the car was it set warranty at the time.now, 2015 the issues has aggravated.the car will start early in the morning but once turned off will not restart for hours at a time.electrical is all working but car just won't start.battery has been checked it is functional and working.we have expired our warranty and don't have the money to repair whatever the problem is.

Fuel pump relay faulty resulting in hesitation stalling while in motion or inability it start while stationary.

Driving home from work while stopping on the freeway my steering wheel is shaking. Ironically this is just south of the chrysler technical center, which i pass every day as i work just a few miles from it. This is only occurring when the brakes are applied so i already dreaded the thought, it must be the front brakes/rotors need replaced. I am also hearing a squealing/grinding noise from the rears when backing up.i just had the right rear brakes replaced this spring, which i have been reading online is a very common issue with this model of minivan. 80% of my drive is freeway, so my brakes are not used as often as someone driving surface streets everyday. Is there a recall for the brake design on this minivan? are the rotors and brake calipers under sized for this vehicle. Why are my rear brakes wearing out so quickly, it does not make sense as the front brakes are the typical parts to wear sooner as the weight transference is to the front when stopping. We have owned many chrysler products in the past chrysler town & country, chrysler sebring. Jeep liberty and not had any of these issues. I would like to see chrysler stand behind this issue, or lose a longtime customer as i will not have faith in their products.there are a vast number of complaints on the lemon law website regarding this year model with the braking issues i have described. When looking for a service bulletin for the my vehicle i do not see one issued for the 2011 model, as [xxx] chief/correspondence research division/office of defects investigation described in his reply to ref. No. [xxx] on 07/13/2014. It is not listed under the dodge caravan or dodge grand caravan models.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Driving and start smelling burning stop and my brakes are smoking to the point it's almost on fire andso hot can't touch or will be burnt. Worried for safety of my kids happened about 10 times now if not more. Got it checked out said nothing is wrong don't know why it's doing it. And have changed my rotors 3 times and brakes 5 times.

I bought this minivan in 2011. I do not drive much so it currently has less than 35,000 miles on it. Nonetheless, i have had to replace the brakes and rotors 4 times (maybe 5) since i have owned it. I just had them replaced again in november, and yet 7 months later, i have to do it again. I have only put some 3,000 miles on it since the last replacement. Something is seriously wrong. The brakes began squeaking and very quickly (like a day or two without my hardly driving it) to the rotors being gone as my pedals are vibrating. I know others are complaining about this here and all over the internet. Something has to be done about this. It is a serious safety issue. Not to mention, incredibly costly to keep up with these costs that i cannot afford.

The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had not experienced the failure.

Not starting , stalls, they said the tipm 1500.00 repair. Safety issue.

Rear a/c evaporator is bad, needing replaced. Vehicle has 57000 miles.

The speed control failed to turn off when the cancel button was pressed.the speed control was turned on and the indicator/light showed that the cruise control was working.as i approached a stoplight at about 60 mph, i pressed the cancel button but nothing happened.at this time i saw that the cruise indicator was not showing.i pressed the cancel several times but the cruise was still engaged.i then tapped the brake and the cruise control disengaged.from this time on when i tried the cruise control it would sometimes turn on and sometimes not. I took the vehicle to the local dodge dealer and they replaced the switch.problem i see is that the cruise was engaged, without any indicator light, and would not cancel.

2011 dodge grand caravan crew-the gas pedal gets stuck in acceleration, the dealerstates it is the gas pedal assembly. There is not a current recall, but the dealer says it is not safe to drive the vehicle and it must be replaced, or i can risk killing my family. Filed a complaint with dodge, they said the "do not have enough complaints to issue a recall". I guess they are waiting till someone dies. Their warranty to replace these types of items ends at 36,000 and my extended warranty will not cover it. What a waste of money these warranties are. I doubt i will ever buy another dodge!

Contacted dealer for recall repair. Still no parts available to repair recalled rear quarter vent window switch. 14v-234.
