I was notified in early june, 2015 about a safety recall #r03/nhtsa 14v-373 and directed to contact a dealer about this recall.i did so several times and was told to call back later because parts were not available.i called again on 12/14/15 and was put on a wait list of 40+ people to get this fix done.again i'm told that chrysler is not sending out the parts.looks like slow-walking it to me.i formally request that chrysler be punished for this lack of concern for safety.
While driving 55mph on i75 in cincinnati,oh, the engine suddenly shut off. While attempting to get the vehicle to the right side of the highway the steering wheel and the brakes could only be moved with great effort. The vehicle must be in the parked gear shift position before it can be restarted thus the necessity to get to the side of the highway so as to avoid a rear end collision. When getting to the side of the road the steering feels like it is locked. This sudden engine shut off while driving has occurred several times before over the last approx. 2 1/2 yrs. The dealer does not know how to fix the sudden engine shut off problem. This leaves me with a vehicle that appears to be too dangerous to drive. I have requested the vehicle manufacturer to advise me as to how the vehicle can be safely driven. And also to advise me if the air bags will function normally after sudden engine shut off.
Vehicle (2009 d. Caravan) was being driven on a city street.after having stopped at a 4-way intersection, driver proceeded into intersection at very low speed and was struck broadside on the rightwhen a 1999 chev. Tahoe failed to stop. Tahoe speed estimated at 30-35 mph.rt. Side air bags deployed at which time front seat passenger (female, approximately 5' 1" ) was struck on head by airbag which moved to her left causing passenger's head to hit side window.airbag remained on the left side of her head until her husband, the driver, forcibly moved it over to her right in order for emt service to take her out thru left front door.passenger had abrasions over top of head and on left arm, none were of a serious nature; however she experienced immediate significant hearing loss.trip to er and ct scan revealed no concussion, no ruptured eardrums and no other serious injuries.accident occurred 13 days ago and there has been no improvement in her hearing, the loss of which is more pronounced in left ear and includes a constant ringing.she is awaiting a jan. 2019 appt. With ent doctor for evaluation.there were no rear seat passengers and the other two persons involved in the accident were not injured. In this accident the side airbag did not protect the passenger as it should, and in addition caused a significant hearing loss. *dsy *dt

As i was driving, my car would just die and everything would shut down and lock up.i thought i had run out of gas.it would start back up.it started doing this alot.i was on highway with a car behind me and a semi truck going 65-70 an hour and my van shut down and everything locked up.very scary because i barely made it to the side of the road without being hit.very close to being a serious three car wreck.took van it and they said it was the key and extension switch piece.cost me $610.66.i did not have any more problem with it until about 3 months ago and it started doing it again( turning off while i was driving)i took it in again and they said it was the key again.they told me to take key ring off of my key and not have anything on it.try that and see if that works.if not i would have to replace it again.tried it and it worked but still shuts down every once in a while.can not afford to have it replaced again for $610.66.obviously there is a defect with this key in my dodge caravan since it has been replace and doing it again.i feel that there needs to be a recall with dodge caravans and if so i need to be refunded my money.my aunt sent me an article out of the star business section on recalls and it mentioned dodge caravans being looked into.well, i am one that has experienced this and am still experiencing this after key and system have been replaced!!

I have filed 2 complaints regarding recall l25 for dodge/chrysler vehicles.2009 dodge grand caravan completely shutting down while driving.steering goes out, brakes out.complete power out while driving.this is very dangerous and scary.i have children i have to take to multiple places.by the grace of god, the 5 times this happened, we .were on slow moving, non busy roads near home.i have not yet experienced this on the highway.it would be potentially fatal.i usually drive in the lanes on the outside so if it occurs, i may be able. To pull off to the side. I have to take the highway daily to work.there were 5 occurrences, 2 in october 2014 and now recently 3 mores times close together, dec.20, 23 and jan 11, 2015.i have contacted chrysler customer service 3 times.i was advised to remove keys or anything hanging from fob, i have and this does not help the issue or is even the cause.i do not think they know why this problem is occurring.chrysler really needs to speed up the recall process before there are fatalities.

My dodge caravan just stalls while driving.it has happened about 5 times this past year.the engine cuts off and i have to pull over and restart. It has only happened while driving between 20-40 miles per hour.it has not happened on the highway i had the ignition switch replaced so i know it is not that.sometimes when my car will not start i have to put it in neutral and it starts.our mechanic cannot find anything wrong but did see the engine failure while running a diagnostic.

On several occasions the van has shut off when driving.i have to go to the side of the road to a complete stop and then restart the van.i have had it in to several mechanics to try to find out what the issue is and have been told to bring it in when it happens again, which always seems to be when i am on the highway or after hours.i received a recall notice for this issue (l25/nhtsa 14v-373) and have called the dealer several times and was told the part was not available and they would call me as soon as it became available.the last time i called i was told they no longer are making the part of this year vehicle. My question is, that if i have an accident and am injured or killed because this issue has been unresolved who should i let my family know to contact, for damages?i don't feel we should be forced to buy a different vehicle just because the corporation has failed to make sure this vehicle is safe.please advise.

Intermittent stalls on cornering.my wife was turning onto our street when suddenly, the engine stalled and she lost all power systems like steering and brakes.she was barely able to avoid hitting a fire hydrant and some children who were playing near it.this is the second time in the last month that the vehicle has done this.i believe the problem is the same identified in the 2010 dodge grand caravan and town and county (safety recall l25).the key fob does not sit in the "on" position but can over-travel from start to a position between "on" and "acc".if you turn a corner or hit a bump, the fob will travel to either "on" or "acc".if it travels to "acc" your engine will shut off and there will be no codes.since you will lose all power steering and power brakes, this can lead to a dangerous situation, especially for women who may not have the upper body strength to control the vehicle without the power systems. When confronted with the 2010 recall notice, my dealer has admitted they are aware of the issue in 2010 vehicles but because i have a 2009 they refused to even look at it.they will do nothing to help if they cannot recreate the issue.having a lot of extra weight on the fob with other keys and such probably exacerbates the problem and is probably why dealers are unable to recreate since they will just have the fob and not all the extra weight that is normally found on peoples key chains.this is a clear and present danger to both my family and other drivers on the road.please help get chrysler safety recall l25 expanded to all vehicle and model years with the same fob design.

Engine wouldn't start, key kept coming up bad key, tried to get new key and they said it's the win module. I have heard of many other win modules going bad in the same van. Wondering why this hasn't been recalled when the 2010 vans win modules have been replaced.
Several occasions prior to this, radio would not come on,and then suddenly start working, several times in the past 6 months, the car would not start right away.after waiting and several attempts it would then start. Mechanic checked and could not see anything wrong with battery, alternator or starter.traveled to florida and the engine light came on,all systems working, but light stayed on.went to a service station, but the light just went out,so we didn't worry.now, in the parking lot of my sons baseball, all the electrical systems stopped working, the vehicle just shut off, i could not get it to start, it finally started and i drove it to autozone and the systems check showed again battery, alternator and starter are fine.it did start up today after sitting for a day and now the doors and tailgate are not operating.i am frustrated and nervous to drive this van.it is only 4 years old and i have read all the issues and complaints and this is a major safety issue.if the electrical system shuts down while driving, we could get in a fatal accident.i travel a lot with the children and i have great concerns now about the safety of this van.i read about the l25 recall on the win module for the 2010 caravans.i believe this is the defect in my 2009.this is manufacturer issue and should be covered for repair.
While driving down one of the main streets in traverse city, michigan, i slowed down to make a right hand turn.in the middle of the turn the car stalled and i came within inches of smashing into a car waiting in the left hand turn of the street onto which i turned.i have had the car in the local dodge dealership where they have gone over the car with a fine toothed comb and say the problem is consistent with an issue with the starting mechanism for which dodge put out a recall in 2011. Dodge has not provided the part/parts which are required to solve the problem. This stalling has occurred once since the first time and dodge continues to ignore the request for part/parts to the dealership. The dealership agrees the problem is consistent with the recall description.since dodge has already admitted that this makes the caravan an unsafe vehicle to drive, but continues to not supply the fix, i am at a loss as what to do.i certainly am not safe driving the vehicle.i live with the fear the stalling will occur at a place or time when serious consequences will occur.i do not want to feel trapped at home, but i do not want to drive an unsafe vehicle, either. I contacted dodge customer service and told them my problem.they would offer nothing but their wish that i stay safe.how can dodge continue to refuse to send repair part/parts? do i have to be injured, or die or injury or kill someone else before action is taken? this is not right. What steps can i take to ensure my caravan gets repaired before any of these happen?since the recall was in 2011 and it is now 2015, can i not assume a reasonable time has passed to expect repair? i am a 64 yr. Old widow of a navy vet on a limited income and am at a total loss where to turn for help to stay safe.please help.

2009 dodge caravan will not hold a charge. Battery has been replaced twice since december 2014. Have had the van in the shop for extensive work on the electrical system, with no luck. I have to jump start my van "every day" to use it. Started in sept 2014. Dec 30, 2014 my husband had a massive stroke, and has had extensive hospitalization and care. He is much better, but paralyzed on one side. This makes it very inconvenient to leave for appointments, shopping, etc.

I have been having issues with the wireless control module for quite sometime. It came to a head this past tuesday 3/24 when my vehicle would not start--had to have vehicle towed twice due to issues with control module. This experience the past year has been frustrating. Doors locked by themselves when the car is shut off; there are times when the windows would come down by themselves due to issues with control module. I am unable to use my key even after changing the battery.
All lighting for the odometer, temperature, compass, and overhead lights failed, and the drive location(drive, reverse) failed. The repair requires an entirely new instrument panel cluster.
Wireless ignition node module recall. Dealer advises i must be put on a waiting list and that it will be months before he will have the parts because the company will only ship one part at a time. He said they would not ship the quantity that he needed. This should be unacceptable if it a safety issue! parts are mass produced to meet auto manufacturers needs. Assembly lines do not wait on parts to be shippedone at a time!!!!!

I have put in 3 complaints since october and have sent a complaint to chrysler.my van has shut down completely 15times since october.the issues with this van actually started in the summer of 2012, when we were stranded because the vehicle would not start.i had everything checked out, battery replaced.no one could find anything wrong, yet at times, it would not start right away.now the van just turns off while driving.this is a major safety issue for me and my family, yet chrysler out me to a higher priority and still has not called me in to fix the defect.while this van has other issues as well, this is the most important thing that needs to be addressed by chrysler. Can anyone help me get this taking care of?i suggested they give me a rental until this is resolved.that was not even considered.i asked if it was then ok with their organization if an entire family is injured or even killed in an accident because of this defect.only, one response stating we were priority, but never called yet.

Our grand caravan was issued a recall for the ignition and we made an appointment at safford dodge in fredericksburg, va where we purchased the van for june 10th 2015 and after about 45 minutes, the service advisor told us that the correct parts weren't in stock and that they have been ordered. We have not received a notice to return to the dealership for repairs and it has been almost three months. This is non compliance as far as i am concerned.

Engine shuts off due to faulty ignition switch
I 've had multiple times that this has happen mostly at slow speeds. I would be going along and hit a hole or bump of some sort and i would lose the power steering, thus the engine would be dead! lucky it was always at low speed, hate to know what would happen at a faster speed. Anyway i got a recall notice about that same time, and have been in 3 times to get it fixed but to no avail. I was in just april 2, 2015 and the dealer checked who knows what, but they told me i had to call a 800 number and talk to who ever. So i have tried to call 3 times the 1st times i was on the line for 2hrs and 20mins, the second time almost 3hrs, and the 3rd time 4hrs 25mins... All i get is "thank you for holding, your call is important to us, will be answered by the next available representative" and that comes on every minute with no results. I want the part fixed. What are my options if any??? the dealer tells me i have to get chrysler to ok the fix, but how do you do that if they don't answer my calls??thanks much.

This is the first time that my van lost power will i was moving. The worst part was losing power steering. I had it happen around 5 or 6 times since this time. Usually when i hit a bump or something like that. I have since got a recall about my key shutting off inadvertently, and that they will replace it. I have tried to find out when and they just say the part is not available. What dose a person have to do get killed before they will do anything. Lucky for me it has been at low speeds when it happened. Is there any action i can take to get this resolved?? i've done what they advised to do but it happened one time since. Thanks!

My van is shifting very harsh from what i think is 2-3 gear it is the 62te transmission. From what i have read up on this issue chrysler needs to find a fix so we as consumers are not buying a lemon.......it happens when we are leaving home and get about a tenth of a mile down our subdivision street and wham it slams into either 2nd or 3rd gear. Van is just started and cold , but also have let it warm up to see if it does the same thing, and it does!

The contact owns a 2009 dodge caravan. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would intermittently stall without warning. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test, who stated that the win module would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The dealer then stated that the after market remote starter was the cause of the failure because of the wiring but the failure persisted with the illumination of the check engine warning light. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle with an egr failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was waiting for the part needed to complete the egr repair to become available. The manufacture was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle had been through two sets of tires in less than 29,000 miles. The contact also stated that the steering was defective. Whenever the vehicle hit a bump or pothole, the vehicle swayed side to side. The dealer stated that the vehicle was fine but a local mechanic stated that the steering and alignment was off. Neither the dealer nor the mechanic could figure out the cause of the failure. The contact also stated that the transmission pulled forward and seemed to let go when idling. The vehicle would hesitate when the contact tried to accelerate. The failure seemed to be corrected when the vehicle was turned off and restarted. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000 and the current mileage was approximately 35,700.
I complained to dealer within the first year i purchased (2009) about my car cutting off while driving.i had it checked, nothing found.this only happened once in a while and progressively got worse.by the time i hadrecall notice in august of 2014 this happened quite often.i have drivena mile and car would cut off up to 5 times!!!sometimes i can go several miles and it not happen but its so bad now its pretty much every time i drive.when this occurs i cannot control steering or brakes. I had to rent a car to go out of town this past week.i pick my granddaughter up from school every day and i have nothing else to drive.i have contacted dealer many times who just put me off.they give me phone numbers for chrysler who never answer.i am sure the condition of my car is more critical than most of the recalls.there will be an accident.i think i should be provided with something safe to drive until my car is fixed.i am on disability, on a fixed income and cannot afford to rent or buy a car.please help me.all i get is the run around and put on hold!

I am planning on contacting a lawyer i have three kids and i thank god that my children were not in the car with me. This has to be taken serious someone could really lose their life over these faulty tire stems. In the past two years my tire stem breaks up and my tire goes completely flat. The valve stems failed.. Nuts for both front valve stems rotted off causing valve stems to fall into tires losing all tire pressure within seconds..this happen with both front tires at different times.the first time i lost pressurethe light came on so i stopped at a gas station and went to put air in the tire and the valve stem fell into the tire losing all pressure immediately and i was left with a flat. Aaa came and put on spare and said the nut on the valve stem was gone and saidit looked like it corroded and fell off.the second one while i was driving the vehicle...my children and icould have been killed if i didn't pull over immediately! the mechanic said the same thing that the nut was missing and the valve stem actually was broke in half. This should be an immediate recall on these valve stems! the dodge dealership refused to replace them and said i must have done something to them! please note i still had the original tires on this vehicle from purchasing it brand new at a dealership in 2009. I can't believe the treatment i received from the dodge dealership.
The door in the back will open an close on it on almost closed on my daughter while get out of car an no button was pushed to close the door. Going down the road and all gauges are coming on an wipers coming on by them self . Key getting stuck in the ignition.
This is the third time this year i had to replace this hose. Please check to see if the hose is damage or if there is some reason that that i would be replacing this hose so often.
Every time i used my vehicle, my key would get stuck forcing me to pull the fuse so the key would release. I got the recall completed on february 18, 2016 to fix the problem. It was working fine until recently (march 24, 2016), my key has been getting stuck several times, not just a one time occurrence, in the ignition again, it eventually releases, and i haven't had to resort to pulling the fuse, i'm just afraid it will eventually lead to that again.
I received a recall notice for wireless ignition node module. This part months ago but have been having trouble with the car stalling for a very long time. Every time i brought it in they could not pin point the problem. I have been waiting for the part from chrysler dealer since i received the recall notice.
The described occurrence happened at least three times.i had stopped preparing to enter a street from a parking lot.upon accelerating to pull onto street, the engine died...i had to turn the key and engine restarted without issue.if one is in a busy traffic situation, this could be very dangerous.another time, i was stopped for traffic signal and preparing to make a left turn.upon getting the green light, i started into the intersection and the engine abruptly died.it was easily restarted again by turning the key.i have went into my dealership two or three times but they cannot find a problem...

This is the second (tpms) tire pressure sensor that has snapped off in my hands as i was attempting to put air into a low tire. These things are dangerous as the metal fatigues without warning or visible evidence of such. Especially living in an area like mine, where road salt, moisture, ice and snow and changes in temperature occur regularly these sensors can cause a sudden deflation of a tire if they break which might lead to a catastrophic crash. Luckily for me the two times it has occurred it has happened in my driveway. However, both times it necessitated jacking my vehicle up with full loads and on uneven ground, dangerous in itself.
