We received a "recall" notice for air bag module possible malfunction. We took the vehicle to a dealer who informed us that the repair part was not available and on back-order. One month later our vehicle was involved in an accident and the airbags did not deploy. I contacted chrysler, who sent an inspector service to examine the vehicle. All damage was done to the front passenger side fender. I received a "form letter" stating that upon inspection, the vehicle was already disassembled and no manufacturing flaw was found. We received notice a few days later that the part was now in and available for repair. The letter apologized for any injuries and hoped that the driver was well on the way to recovery. No injuries occurred. The letter was from the office of "general counsel" my goal was simply to make them aware of how incredibly stupid it is to send out a recall notice and not have the part available for the next 45 days. They seemed unconcerned that this could have been a very serious flaw in the air bag deployment system.

Wiring harness leading to driver side door became pinched/ chaffed resulting in deactivation of side airbags.wiring harness replaced.
Head lights flickered several times and then stayed off. This has continued intermittently since november. Sometimes the headlights stay on, sometimes they don't. 8/1/2014-headlights don't work at all. I have taken to a dodge dealer in december who told me it would cost $700 but couldn't guarantee it wouldn,t continue to happen. I have taken it to 2 private garages who have told me the same thing. It's not the bulbs. They believe it is a problem in the electrical system.
Brake system failure.had to have the brakes rebuilt.brake problem indicator light kept coming on.took the vehicle in for check and was told that it was just a problem with the computer.brakes gave out one month after the warranty expired.took the vehicle to an independent (certified) shop and was told thebrake system needed to be completely rebuilt and that the brake warning system appeared to have been compromised, rendering it useless.also experienced problem with the tire inflation indicator (dealership fixed this problem and stated it was a computer malfunction) and shorts in the electrical system that caused problems with the horn turn signals, lights, and alarm system.dealership did a repair on the electrical system.

Vehicle purchased in puerto rico with 40,000+ miles; replaced a rotor & all pads about 65,000 miles. Could hear noises coming from brake mechanism (noises went away upon replacement of brakes with oem parts).around 70,000 miles the vehicle started locking itself without warning, at least twice with keys inside. Imagine a hot day and a child in a restraint seat and the car locked. I did notice that about the same time, the power lock switch on the drivers side became inoperable.now at 78,892 the whole electrical instrument panel went on the blink (blank), except for the digital mileage indicator & 'gate ajar' . I stopped for groceries & when i wentto crank the starter solenoid, nothing happens. Had to tow home & am told that local dealers are charging $1,000 to reprogram the computer.... No wonder less & less people are buying american brand cars.any suggestions?i do appreciate the nhtsa efforts.thankyou!
2008 dodge caravan.consumer writes in regards to wireless ignition mode recall.the consumer stated she received a recall letter three months ago, and the part is still on back order.
We pulled out at night and started driving when suddenly and without warning the exterior headlights and fog lights started flashing, the interior warning lights started flashing, the wind shield wipers started going on and off, the windshield washer fluid started spraying, the lights on the gauges were flashing, and the ignition started "dinging" like when you turn it on. Granted this was at night so we lost headlights for several seconds at a time until we could get stopped. I had my 4 year old daughter in the car and my wife. Luckily we weren't going very fast and were able to get pulled over without being involved in a wreck. After turning the car on and off a couple of times and checking under the hood the problem ceased.fast forward a few months. Similar incident occurred during the daytime. Basically the exact same issue as above. Luckily this was during the day and the headlights aren't as important. Once again after turning the vehicle on and off a couple of times and getting out of the vehicle to check under the hood it ceased.fast forward a few weeks. Issue occurred once again during the day. At this point we refused to drive the vehicle at night as we deemed it unsafe at night with the potential that we could lose lights while driving 60 mph and have zero visibility. We were never able to get the lights to stop going on and off and the issue with the van is still occurring. I've read similar stories from other dodge owners and most have never been able to solve the issue even after spending thousands of dollars. This is going to seriously hurt or kill someone and a search regarding the lights flashing online for dodge caravans around this year makes it clear that there is a serious issue regarding the van. I also checked and dodge claims the other recalls have already been done on this van.

Car was not running and keys were not in the ignition, they were laying on the dash. No one was in the vehicle. When the passenger's front door was opened the horn started honking and windshield washer started spraying (wipers were not activated).it lasted only a couple seconds and stopped. It also activated the driver's side mirror's auto dim feature. Once i was on the road discovered it also prevented the car from shifting out of first gear. I tried manually shifting and slipping it from drive to neutral but that had no effect. The indicator light showed no response to the manual shifting it just remained on the "d". The van did go into neutral and the indicator light showed "n". I didn't try the van again until 24hrs later and everything was working fine. After researching online i see there is an obvious problem with the tipm and will be replacing it. If this would have occured in heavy traffic there would have been a definite safety hazard issue. I was lucky it happened at home and it only lasted a few seconds.others have not been that lucky!! this is a serious issue that if it hasn't already it very easily could have deadly consequences.make the recall!!

Driving approximately 35-40 mph, van shut down completely however, horn, wipers, wiper fluid, door locks went crazy. Was able to pull to the side of the road. Horn and electric stopped after approximately 5 minutes. After waiting a few minutes, i was able to start the car again and make it home.car wouldn't start again.had it towed to the dealer who replaced the battery and cable connector ($300). Also found more brake and axle seal issues at a cost of $1,000.drove the vehicle for approximately 40 miles (to and from work) without problem.went for a short errand, driving 35 mph, car jerked, wipers went halfway and horn started blaring, wipers and fluid went crazy again, and car stalled.neighbor was able to disconnect the horn but car wouldn't shut off.neighbors called police (embarrassing).car wouldn't shut off (opposite problem from when the car shut down before repair.) drove the car home where it is now waiting for a tow. Beyond frustrated and angry because my 16 year old daughter was driving the during the second incident.called dodge corporate where "[xxx]" was less than empathetic and told me that there were a lot of miles on the vehicle, as if this makes it okay.no apologies.car is a lemon.three brake jobs during the life of the vehicle.this will be my 3rd tow in 6 months.this could have caused a severe accident had the car shut down on a busy highway.additionally, vision is impaired due to windshield washer fluid spewing.

2008 dodge caravan.consumer writes in regards to ignition switch issues.the consumer stated the vehicle would not shut off, when the key was removed.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where they installed a tipm part at a cost of $897. The dealer claimed the part would make the engine shut off. A day later, the engine would not shut off. However, when it didn't shut off, the engine blew up destroying the engine in the process. The dealer admitted the mistake, of installing the wrong part, and they stated they did not know the engine would not shut off, but they were certain that the failure, was not linked to engine blowing up. Somehow the engine, and radiator blowing up was simply a coincidence.

I have an electrical problems with my van. All warning-light-indicators in my instrument panel would turn "on" while i'm driving on the freeway or street. Also, i have intermittent problem with my headlights that flicker "on" and "off" by itself while i'm driving. This is very unsafe, specially at night. My dealership have failed to help diagnose the electrical problem.

My 2008 caravan originally had a recall an replacement of the electrical sliding door that were faulty an could catch fire. Now that was replaced, it's already failed and caused a hole new safety issue. If the door is not completely closed the door ajar light doesn't come on and the door flys open while in motion. Both doors have completely failed and no longer function as intended. This concerns me since i have small children an their hands or limbs could be smashed by the door while in motion.
Brake system issues and possible front-end issues in general, electrical issues. Had to replace front tires at 18729 miles. Brakes pads and rotors needed replaced at 24130 miles. Dealer only agreed to cover rotors after much disagreement. Stated everything else was normal wear and tear. Check engine light been coming on since late 2009, keep taking it in- stated problems with o2 sensors. Problem still not fixed. Dealer states we must need new computer, and that will be covered by warranty. Brakes have been making screeching/rattling noises again, and mileage is now at 29000 miles. Dealer states nothing wrong with brakes, that it must be brake dust. Dealer just does not want to take ownership or pay to cover- there is absolutely an issue that they will not admit. Instrument panel has failed 4 times while driving, including loss of power steering. There is something very wrong with this van.

Received l25 recall notice for my 2008 dodge caravan (wireless ignition node ~ unintentional movement) in early june.placed 3 calls to local dodge dealership and they displayed no sense of urgency whatsoever to address this issue.it is clear that, while they boast an excellent sales force, they are not interested in addressing low-yielding recall issues.my last two calls were met with, "oh, your part isn't in yet.we'll give you a call when it arrives."this goes against the spirit of what is outlined on the recall notice, where the defect is to be remedied in a timely fashion.my pontiac grand am had a similar recall (14350) and it was addressed same day at a local dealership (alan webb chevrolet of vancouver).information for dealership to which this complaint is assigned:dick hannah dodge3517 ne auto mall dr, vancouver, wa 98662(360) 944-3276

My van is up to date on all recalls, but it has begun to shut off randomly while driving.the traction control light comes on and whole thing shuts off.i have seen a ton of others with the same complaint.the dealership has been less than helpful.i have poured money into the car, but it is unsafe.looks like a recall issue.there is no rhyme or reason to when it shuts off.thankfully, it has been at less than 30 mph because it is very unsafe.others with the same complaint:http://www.carcomplaints.com/dodge/grand_caravan/2008/engine/engine_stalls_shuts_down_while_driving.shtmlhttps://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-c8343_ds632071http://dodge-grand-caravan-repair.10w40.com/questions/2008-dodge-grand-caravan-sxt-40-dodgeforum.com/forum/dodge-caravan/176205-caravan-stalling-when-in-motion.html

Many issues, appear to be related to the tipm.headlights intermittently stop working, as do the windshield wipers(various times, when driving/when starting the car). Car horn beeps when driver door is opened.air conditioner/heater intermittently stops working (when driving), will usually come back on after pulling over and restarting the car.very dangerous in the winter.

When i could safely pull over i did so put in park for a minute went again as soon as i reached over 35 it still sounded as if i was over revving engine. When i could safely pull over again i shut the vehicle off at this time the windshield wipers start going and the horn is sounding off. I then got out disconnected the battery waited for 5 minites reconnected. I then preceded to go again and still sounded as if i was revving engine put 4 ways on and preceeded home at 25 miles an hour on a secondary road. This is not the first time this has happened it has happened several other times when taken in to the dealer they could not find issue this was while still under warranty.no one has been able to figure it out.

Vehicle started with doors suddenly and repeatedly locking and unlocking then drivers lock switch stopped working then week later passengers at the same time radios cd player started trying to eject cd repeatedly with out even being on or having one in it also at same time fuel gauge stopped working. Now this morning wife coming home from work braking system started to malfunction almost causing a crash. Upon simple web search this seems to be common occurrence with 2008 grand caravans electrical system repeatedly hearing or seeing as the case may be a faulty tipm (totally integrated power module) as told by dealership mechanics. It seems it is causing so many different problems such as those just described to headlights shutting off, wipers coming on horn blowing ect, ect, ect. How many people need to die before you take action. A copy of this will be sent to senators, congressman, and news media maybe if it makes the news someone wont have to die due to failure to act by your agency or dodge and chrysler.
The van will be sitting in driveway and the horn starts blowing, the wipers will come on and washer motor will come on too and the headlights come on also sometimes the engine will turn off going down the road. We can't drive it very far my wife drives it to work a few blocks away but that's about it we are afraid to drive it anywhere.
The elterice proublems with the drivers controll switch too open an close the windows , has it been know too catch on fire an make all the lights on the dash board go on an off now an then .lucky we just'd started up the van too warn up an all then sudden we notice the drivers contorll switch was on fire .

September 11, 2014 received recall l25/nhtsa 14v-373. Did not hear anything for three months, called chrysler said no parts available, waiting on manufacture. Today i was wondering if they had made the parts yet? called five different times, each time on hold for a minimum 25 minutes. I would soon like to take grandchildren on vacation, but am concerned about this safety factor. Does anyone know how many years it takes to manufacture these safety parts?
Ignitionswitche was replaced on a recall. But now this ignitin switches is not working right. Some times the van will not start. I had it check out and its the ignition switche that was replaced on my car because of the recall. What do i do now to get this replaced again. The van may shut off when driving.
2008 dodge caravan, while driving at 65 mph, engine quit, all dash electronics went dead. Coasted to stop, put in park, restarted fine, continued to destination.problem has occurred 2 previous times, once while turning a corner at or below 5mph, same result, and once at approx 20mph, again same result.checked, and switched keys, tested ignition switch, wiring to battery / fuse box, all ok, with no excessive corrosion, or loose connections.attempted to recreate problem by wiggling wiring, switch, keys, with no electrical failure.
It was sometime in 2012, i don't remember the exact date. We were leaving walmart, when we tried to start the van, horns blasted, lights flashed, window washer spit water, wiper blades started. This went on some time before we could get it to stop. Once, it stopped at a red light and would not start back, it died in the middle of the highway twice. And several times it would start the horn blowing, etc., when it was put into reverse. We called a wrecker once, had it towed to a dodge dealership. They put it on an analyzer and said they could find nothing.several months later, after it quit in the highway again, we took it back. They put it on analyzer, charged us $d180.00. Said the problem was the ignition key. Told us they had no idea when the part to fix it would be available. I called dodge headquarters, customer complaint, was given the run-a-round, told us they would put us at the top of the list. I said, so you're saying if we are in the middle of a highway, or interstate, dodge doesn't care if we wreck and are all killed, possibly even others. He said no, he wasn't saying that, so i said, so what are you going to do? he said nothing. So now we are stuck with an unsafe vehicle (we only have one) which we are scared to death to use. Can we do anything else?

Our 2008 dodge caravan was parked in a parking lot for 10 minutes when out of nowhere the lights start flashing, horn blaring, wipers running, and could not get it to stop. This has happened intermittently five or six times with varying degrees of length (2 seconds to 30 minutes).last time it happened i drove it to the chrysler dealer with the wipers and wiper washers squirting (i had since removed the horn fuses).they charged $136.00 to look at the codes and tell us they can't replicate the problem, so screw you.we're afraid to drive it as when the problem occurs it will only drive in first gear.it's interesting to see that there are others with the exact same symptoms and the fingers are pointing to the tipm. I'd like to sell it but can't really do so with a clear conscience.this sucks.

Vehicle began having intermittent, involuntary activation of wipers, squirters, horn, lights and locks. These outbursts were unpredictable and would happen whether vehicle was running or not, sometimes when the key was not even in the vehicle. There was no way to predict the behavior, or to stop it once it began.
Was driving home at night when randomly my lights started flashing, horn started blaring, windshield wipers started going off, washer fluid was spraying everywhere.locks were locking and unlocking. I ended up driving into someone's lawn as i could not see properly with poor lighting and all the distractions. Once i got home the vehicle continued to be possessed even without the key in the ignition.i was finally able to get everything to stop after unplugging the battery.upon internet research it didn't take long to realize it was tipm fuse box issue, i have found several other customers with the same box having the same issues.i have gone to the junkyard 3 times and grabbed a used tipm fuse box replacement.the first replacement the car would not start.second replacement there was a lot of trouble lights on the dash and the odometer did not work.with my most recent replacement the headlights don't work.so including my original tipm , that's 4 faulty tipms. Do you notice a problem or pattern here?

On several occasions, while driving at various speeds and in various road conditions, this dodge caravan did lose complete engine power.the most frightening was at 70mph on the freeway at night! a very smooth stretch of freeway and the headlights went out and the engine stopped running. Recall r03/nhtsa14v-373 was preformed on this dodge but engine power loss persist. It would appear that a power module could be the problem and dodge knows it. This is a potentially dangerous and lethal situation. During this engine shutdown, critical elements of vehicle safety are lost including effective braking, steering andairbag deployment mechanicals.

I have been on the list to get this recall repaired and dealer says they only get parts to repair 3-4 vehicles per month and there are over 200 vehicles on their list.if this is the case then it will be years before my car can be repaired.i think this is unacceptable.what else can i do?

Driving 55 mph the first time horn started blowing, lights flashing wipers front and rear running, washer fluid shooting out front and rear engine would not shut off for about 3 min. Second time it happened the car was not running and the lights started flashing and horn blowingwith wipers running. Next time i was parked with motor running horn started, wipers front and back i unhooked the battery and it kept blowing mashed the remote crank and it killed the engine but would not crank back for about 1 hour. Today 01/30/15 we were merging into traffic on the interstate and the van died the wipers front and back went crazy the fluid sprayed the horn blew, i pulled to the side of interstate unhooked the battery and the horn stopped i took out the horn fuse waited about 30 min. I stopped and parked the vehicle at a store. I turned the switch off but could not remove the key. I tried several times by restarting the vehicle and shutting it down but was unable to remove the key from the ignition switch. I stopped trying for about 15 seconds and was then able to restart the vehicle. Approximately 10 minutes later i was able to start, stop and remove the key ok. I drove across the street to the post office and the same situation occurred with the same results. There have been no further incidences since. I went to the dodge dealer and they said (essentially) "sorry charlie, it's your problem. We haven't received parts to service your recall".

We turned the car on and the windshield wipers, car horn, and lights all started going off.we could not put the car in drive or reverse.even when we turned the keys to the ignition off position the wipers, horn, and lights continued to move and flash and sound.only once we took the keys out of the ignition did it stop.when tried to start the car again but the problem persisted.we could not get our car to drive.
First is a recall---r03 wireless ignition-the dealership(byford, duncan, ok) in june, 2015 on my first visit the part was not available; after a second visit and two phone calls-"the part is not available"; the last phone call i was told to make an appointment so that "they can see the vehicle and then try to order the part". Contacted the chrysler group recall assistance center(on hold 30 minutes) and gave them info; they took name and number so they could contact the dealership about their "recall parts inventory"2nd complaint brakes-bought vehicle new; have to replace front brake pads every 30000 miles and rear brake pads every 50000 miles; chrysler recall replaced the pads the first time at their expense--per them faulty brake pads not caliper; local mechanic doing the 6 brake jobs thought maybe a new caliper redesign was the problem; chrysler has no follow up to the initial problem

When clicking off my high beams, my wipers came on.i was unable to shut them off.at the same time my high beams, turn signals and rear wiper stopped working.while my front wipers were going non-stop despite being shut off, the washer fluid did not work (front and back). When i took it to my garage i was told the tipm had to be replaced but it was currently on national back order and they didn't know when they could get their hands on one. For the time being i have had to make due with disconnecting the battery for 7-10 minutes and then all systems work again, i am not sure how long this will work for but currently the only option.

The switch housing in the drivers door that controls the windows on my 2008 dodge caravan caught fire when my daughter rolled down her window on the passenger side. I was driving down the road at the time and was only a couple of blocks from the house. Dodge has recalled the 2010-2014 models with the 3rd row electric vent windows which my vehicle also has. I reported the incident to fca,the parent company of dodge, and was told i would receive a call from their investigative unit in 48hrs. That was more than a week ago.multiple calls later and they still have not bothered to call me back.
8/24 - the van was parked in a parking lot with my husband & son sitting in it.another driver came to claim their nearby dodge caravan & beeped open his van, at that point our wipers started going full speed & the fluid shot up.it stopped for a minute then started going full strength again with the horn going non-stop, the lights all started flashing, & the doors all locked.the key fob was in the ignition but in the off position.my husband tried unlocking the doors with the key fob (pulled out of the ignition), tried using the indoor unlock button but all was unsuccessful.we were able to manually open the doors from the inside.all of this kept going for about 5 mins until i climbed in the back to open the side doors to air out the car & get my 2 year old out.when i manually unlocked the driver side back door everything stopped. We were able to drive home without further incident that day.8/25 - we were driving back to chicago when the wipers did the same thing but nothing else.8/26 - i was driving to work when all the doors unlocked & all the warnings on the control panel lit up.i was able to pull over to the side of the road and when i started driving again the rpm started going crazy like it couldn't shift gear.i pulled over again, turned the van off & let it sit for a few minutes.i was able to continue my drive to work & got home ok.
I had just got up to 50 mph and the engine shut down. I was able to pull the van off the road without incident. I just seen on the news chrysler is having a computer problem. A light was on that was not on when i started the van. It is called the transmission range indicator.when i put the van in neutral it restarted and this light went out. Chrysler went to far out of its way to put an option in the computer for changing this component electrically. It is not necessary and could leave you stranded with a van full of kids in yellowstone.
Originally had taken car in for recall. The recall was for both doors. The dealer had delivered the car and told me i would be contacted for repair on the passenger door once the parts were in stock. After months of waiting i finally contacted them and was told that the parts were in stock. I made the appointment and when i was set to drop off the van i was told that i was going to be charged because it has been put in as complete in the dealers records but showed parts not installed. I was told to contact dodge and left the van there overnight. The next day i spent a lot of time on the phone to get the runaround with dodge. I picked up the car and didn't have the repair done. My family has used the van ever since. I have always put off repairing it because it was a recall that broke down as described in the recall verbatimand is a hazard for multiple reasons and i would blame dodge directly if anything were to happen. I have contacted them several times through out the last few years trying to rectify this egregious situation. I was told that the records indicate only one side was repaired however the recall still to this day shows complete. I take pride in buying and maintaining an 'american made' product and would have fixed this several times over had it not been for principle. Dodge does not seem to be concerned for a customer who is a family man. I protect my family with my own life. It is difficult to only use one door when parking on a busy street with 2-5 children who are forced to get out onto a busy street if that is the only option. It can be very risky. Even picking them up from school they are made to walk to the drivers side of the car even thou the pick up side is on the passenger. Secondly my main issue is a short while driving. Protruding wires could be pinched if the door is used which could lead to a fire or fault in the door functionality
The dash lights, head lights, and windshield wipers randomly go on and off. When this happens, i have no control over the headlights, wipers, turn signals, power windows, or door locks. I have not been able to find a mechanic who can definitively tell me what this is. It happens sporadically, sometimes with weeks in between incidents.

My headlights are flickering i see many car complaints about the tipm relay and want it fixed under the recalli could have had a car accident this issue should have been fixed
On a highway ramp entering the highway the horn on my van started to blow on & off, at the same time the windshield wipers were wiping & the spray was spewing at me at high speed. The lights blinked on and off & the door locks were going up & down. The radio was blasting as well. I came to a stop before entering the highway to try & figure things out but nothing worked. For 5-8 minutes i sat there in fear it would catch on fire. I put inpark, turned it off & took the keys out.it continued to do all the activity with the keys in my hand! when it stopped & i tried to starting it. It started & ran ok till it happened not more than 15 minutes latter on my way to the dealer. This time it lurched forward at a faster speed with everything wiping, blowing, spewing & blinking which caused me to drop it into neutral & brake to a stop in the median. This time when it became quite it wouldn't start again & was towed to the dealer. They saw the codes it left but couldn't determine the cause. They said they could keep it thru the weekend & try again on monday or i could take it & bring it back when it did it again. This is the car i drive my family in all the time. Myself & 4 young girls plus friends. Although i am thankful to have only had to pay for towing i am very upset that they couldn't find the cause. I am essentially driving a ticking time bomb. This could happen again at any time, anywhere & with a car full of kids! i have said from day 1 that the van had electrical problems & no one took me serious. The only thing the dealer found that raised a red flag was that the windshield wipers come on when you use the turn signal - this has been a chief complaint all along. My family has had dodges for a long time, have been loyal customers & employees. We expect better from a company we've grown to depend on & refer others to for their next vehicle.

Neither high or low beam lights come on. When i turn them on, they will blink three times, and nothing else. Had two mechanics work on it, but couldn't figure it out.
When i tried to unlock it the horn honked but it did unlock and when i turned the key it started but the horn honked again. I couldn't get the heater or radio to work. I put it into reverse it honked and kepted honking. I turned it off and thought that would clear everything. Then i couldn't get it started. We went back into the store and when we came back out i couldn't get the frount doors to unlock. When i pushed the unlock button it honked and the windshield wipers and washer started working. I managed to get back in by getting into the back doors. I was talking to the tow person when i tried to start it again and it started but the lights didn't work. The fog lights worked so i thought i might try to limp it home. I went a back way but it wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. I finally stopped and called for the tow. The next morning i took it to a mechanic. Everything was working fine. They looked at it and couldn't make do any of the things i discribed. The computer guy checked it out and said the part that needed replacing was not available because there have been so many problems with it there is a 2 year backlog making them. Dodge knows about the problem so if they can't get those parts out i think they should replace the car. Why should the buyer be put in the position of traiding in the car when we bought it in good faith and intended to keep it.
I was driving the van on the highway and it went crazy horn blaring windshield wipers going real slow and fluid going everywhere i could not see because the fluid was coming out faster then wipers were going!!! i had to pull over until all the windshield fluid was gone. When i got home my husband had to unhook the battery because the horn was still blaring and it was 10.30 at night and i have neighbors with children sleeping.
We have a 2008 caravan when the weather is cod outside the dash lights come on and off and the wipers come on by themselves while the seat belt chime keeps going off.can't find any answers on what the problem is and why it only does this when cold.
Vehicle horn, wipers, fluids and locks simultaneously operating without driver initiating. This is the 9th occurrence without dealership accepting our story-requesting us to recreate it for them. Runs down battery when car not running-if it happens overnight, etc... On third battery now. Obviously unsafe and humiliating experience. Last week had to drop elementary aged daughter off at drop-off and caused great confusion. Yesterday woke neighbor baby and family sleeping.

When starting my car in the am the horn beep wipers went off with washer fluid as i started to drive i noticed the car wasn't shifting out of 1st gear. Took it to dealer and the said it was my anti theft so they just reset it. Everything was fine till the last week of august when it did it again this time while i was driving on the highway. Went back to the dealer and they replaced the tip module. And so far so good. Fingers crossed hope it doesn't happen again!!
Just resolved an ignition recall problem on the vehicle because of problems with independent wipers going off, horn going off, vehicle stalling while driving and doors locking and unlocking..dodge replaced ignition and win module but problem began when i tried using ac or heater..i just brought the car 2 months ago and it has stalled on hgihway 3 times and on the road numerous times. Im afraid to drive the car.the check engine light turns on but goes out intermitently.sounds like the itpm problem everyone is having ..cant afford another 2000 dollars to fix
My wife was driving out the complex apartments to drop off the kids at school, when she hit a speed bump and the van suddenly shuts off by itself, she said the power steering was hard to move so she set the van in parking and after the third try it started on. Before that i had trouble starting it and took the battery for a check up and it was good, then i went to the dealership and said it need it an computer update, so they did it. After a few weeks i had the same problem. A month ago i took it to another dealership because i heard on the tv about the safety recall on this models and told me they order the part and that it will take three days to get it...its bean over a month and had no answer from them.
All gages are flashing with a binging sound all gages are jumping and turning signals only work when they want while parked and driving. Also driver side window buttons and locks are not working.
If vehicle is turned left or right while under acceleration then esp activates the abs system and causes front brake calipers to activate in the corresponding turn and abruptly stops the vehicle.this is a safety concern as this occurs when crossing another lanes of oncoming traffic.i feel this issue caused caused by the failure of the steering angle sensor within the sccm of the vehicle.
2008dodge caravan was in a crash, left front was sheered off from the impact causing left front wheel to be cut from a-frame.no air bags deployed. Car was totaled.injuries were severe concussion, disk damage to spine, seat belt impact over chest.

My van cuts off while driving. Its very dangerous. I've almost beenrear ended a few times. I've had the ignition changed as part of the recall but my van has been cutting off everyday now. This happens more when you first start driving the car. About 2 minutes after the van has been started to drive.

The engine in our 2008 dodge mini van will intermittently surge when at a stop with your foot on the brake or when in park.this has continued to plague us for 3 years now with the latest incident occurring sept. 7th, 2014.
This has been a continuing problem since i bought car,car just dies while you are driving and you have nothing but until you get car stopped. Then it will restart and drive fine.it happens at all speeds but mostly on the interstates. The dealer did replace the ignition switch while under warranty but not until i went thru 3rd tier myself.it has started again and the dealer can not duplicate it so they return it with nothing done.i even let them keep it 3 days while they put it through their email 3rd tier system.only answer back was there are no notices about it and the last report i got back was nothing done. It happens at all speeds from 65 down to 5 when making a turn at a red light. This is dangerous and i keep fighting them and documenting it every time i take them in.there doesn't seem to be a way for me to complain to chrysler myself so i am hoping that this will start. I also googled dodge caravans stalling and there are lots listed.

Traveling 55 down highway suddenly brake engages and brake came up on dash board.brake stays on for a minute or so then notice that it sounds as if i am over revving engine.
The van accelerated when pulling into an angled parking space at walmart, villa rica, georgia and impacted a parked car in the adjacent row, causing that vehicle to roll backward for approximately 20 feet before impacting a third car. Our van was stopped in the parking space previously occupied by the 2nd vehicle. Witnesses reported hearing strange noises and saw the impact as it occurred.no injuries. Vehicle is being repaired and will be examined by the repair shop to see if they can determine what occurred.

While driving, a large amount of steam appeared causing me to loose visibility and pull off the road.the y connector sprung a leak and spewed liquid onto the engine.there is a technical service advisory bulletin about this from gates engineers because of high replacement demand. The heater hose assembly "y" are prone to cracking.they are now being build more robustly with 35% glass fillto ensure a stronger component.chrysler is not issuing a recall and this is not covered under extended warranty which excludes hoses.the estimated hours to replace this part is 6 hours.
Had just purchased the van days prior to the first sign of an issue... While driving the van, it cut off-loosing all power, on a busy highway, with my wife and children inside... Second and third time were the same... This is a major problem, what is it going to take for dodge to recall and fix these vans.. Injuries or death...
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan.while driving approximately 70 mph, the engine shut off without warning.after several attempts, the vehicle restarted.the failure recurred on a separate occasion and the vehicle was unable to restart.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but they were unable to detect the failures.the contact was concerned of the safety risk involved.the failure mileage was 14,300 and current mileage was 14,400.
While driving approximately 40 mph the van hit a small pothole and lost total power. After steering to the side of the road i determine the ignition key was now in the accessory position. The same issue occurred multiple times over the course of the 7 years i owned the vehicle to the point that when my teenage sons learned to drive i coached them on what to do when the car turned off while driving.
The car starts then stalls, when driving on 7/6/14 on 3 separate occasions it stalled on interstate 390 south. Causing complete power failure.
2008 dodge caravan. Consumer writes in regards toproblem with vehicle airbag *tgwthe consumer stated a recall was issued and it was performed by an authorized dealer.the fix was supposed to prevent the air bags from deploying. The fix required the a/c drain tube and grommet to be rerouted to prevent water from dripping on the air bag control module.the consumer stated the air bag light has since illuminated for no reason. The consumer was quoted a price of $500-600 to replace the air bag control module.the consumer stated either the repair shop performed the recall wrong, didn't install a part or the recall remedy was too late to avoid a/c condensation/moisture from penetrating the air bag control module thus causing corrosion. Recall# 10v611000.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge grand caravan. While driving approximately 35 mph, the air conditioner failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection where they informed that the air conditioner discharge line was defective. The failure was associated with recall 10v611000 (equipment: electrical: air conditioner). The contact planned to notify the dealer to verify whether the vin was included in the recall. Also, the manufacturer issued a customer satisfaction notification under k04ac (air conditioner: discharge hose); however, the vin was not included in the voluntary repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
Neither high or low beam lights come on. When i turn them on, they will blink three times, and nothing else. Had two mechanics work on it, but couldn't figure it out.
Headlightsturning off during any driving ,stationary, city highway night day rain cold warm all the above antime any condition.flickering sometimes staying off most of the time need to hold passing flash brights on to still atleast have light sometimes dosent work all the time. Months now.
2008 dodge grand caravan.headlights fail while driving.they will come and go.brights may fail or low beams may fail or both together.there are many complaints about this on the internet.dodge dealer and other mechanic have not been able to duplicate or find the cause.i have seen at least 30-50 similar complaints on the internet.
2008 dodge caravan sxt, experiencing wipers with fluid coming on randomly with lights flashing, doors locking and unlocking and horn blowing erratically. I have also experienced the tpms, abs and traction control lights coming on and off while driving.
Wipers, lights, horn, door locks all seemed to go off went no warning wipers start spraying fluid by itself. Could not get to stop windows would not work, had to pull hornfuses to make horn stop blowing disconnect batteryto make sure it would start to have it taken tobe looked at very disappointed in vehicle only 81,500 miles on it
Many issues, appear to be related to the tipm.headlights intermittently stop working, as do the windshield wipers(various times, when driving/when starting the car). Car horn beeps when driver door is opened.air conditioner/heater intermittently stops working (when driving), will usually come back on after pulling over and restarting the car.very dangerous in the winter.
My headlights are flickering i see many car complaints about the tipm relay and want it fixed under the recalli could have had a car accident this issue should have been fixed
I complained about this before and it is only getting worse!!!! i won't put washer fluid in my van a waste of money!!!! i took out the horn fuses because of the defect and it is only getting worse because now when it happens my head lights don't work!!!! i was driving to the hospital for surgery when it was dark out and the wipers started going and now when it happens my headlights don't work!!! i don't feel like it is my responsibility to fix the problem!!!! why should i have to pay 500 dollars to fix a problem when it should be recalled!!!!
Get less than 250 miles on a tank of gas. The latch fly open and the brakes don't want to stop.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer due to the check engine light remaining illuminated. The dealer replaced the evap leak detection pump, sealed the fuel cap and reprogrammed the pcm.the manufacturer was notified who was still researching the failure. The failure mileage was 65,659.
Purchased vehicle in april of 08 and in august of 08 it would not turn on while i was picking my daughter up from school.i took it in to the dealership but they couldn't find the problem.the same think happened twice in november and again in december, again they couldn't find the problem.in april of 09 it stalled again at a ball game while it was raining and thundering andi had my 5 and 1 year old with me.i called the dealership to get it towed so they could find the problem.two days later they call me and say it was the fuel pump. I told them to check my brakes because i had heard them squeak that morning.they call that the rotors and pads are completely worn and they wouldn't let me drive it off the lot because it was unsafe.my vehicle only had 25,000 miles on it.my previous vehicle had 91,000 miles on it when itraded it in and rotors and pads had never been replaced.now 8000 miles later, my back pads need to be replaced.they are worn uneven and i was told my front pads will need to be replaced within the next 8,000-10,000 miles.
Tipm has failed stuck in limp mode. Caused engine light fuel issues and stalling
At about 140,000. Check engine light came on then off and on again.replaced gas cap.engine light still came off and on, one or other for extend time.returned and after a check they said i needed to get it backwhen light was on.finally last march at 153,000. I returned and they informed me it was my converter.i feel that the converter failed prematurely and after complaints did not get me any where with dodge i am complaining that the part, which had not been damaged, fail prematurely and that it is a defective part.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The vehicle was parked when the contact engaged the key fob to close the rear driver side sliding door. The door began to close but then stopped and began to open involuntarily. The contact stated it took numerous attempts before the door fully closed and the failure would recur intermittently. 2008 dodge caravan rear doorthe automatic door was beeping it was closing after i pushed the button.i dropped my keys and reached down to get them forgetting the door was closing.the door came down on my right arm just below the should causing a large bruise.the door continued closing after it hit me.this is the 2nd incident i have had with the van since i purchased it dec. 31, 2008.the other time it was a similar incident i dropped something and the door hit me quite hard in the head and did not stop closing.i believe the door should stop closing if something gets between it.
Wiring harness leading to driver side door became pinched/ chaffed resulting in deactivation of side airbags.wiring harness replaced.
This issue has happen several times as my family is driving along, the engine just dies for no apparent reason. This has happened several time and when the engine dies you loose all power, steering, abs assist with the brakes and it is very hard to turn. This issue ended the other day when my wife was going to school and the engine died on a off ramp on interstate 10 in mississippi. When she got it stopped it restarted but would not move in drive. When she put the van in drive it would die, she put the van in reverse and it backed up fine. Got it off the off-ramp along the side of the road called a tow service and had it towed to a local garage. The transmission had veiled related to the stalling problem that has been reported several times and was written in a news paper. This is a major problem that dodge has with these van and is related to the failure of the transmission. This issue needs to be fixed by dodge not the consumer. The power train warranty which was issued by dodge as long as you are the original owner should cover this issue but dodge says it does not. Please assist with this issue as the recall should be issued on these transmissions.

The incident happened on a 2008 dodge caravan (3.3l / 4spd) with 115,562 miles (spent its entire life in michigan). During a right-hand turn from a stop there was a loud clunking noise that occurred just after the throttle was pressed and the vehicle was immediately disabled (no more power/torque to the wheels with throttle) followed by a large plume of smoke (from under the hood and came in through the vents). The roads were dry but the weather was cold (~25f). Upon further inspection, it was a right halfshaft barshaft that had fractured/failed and it did so without warning. There was significant corrosion that occurred under the damper that weakened the shaft and that's where the fracture took place under load. The smoke was a result of barshaft fracture - the boot tore/inboard joint came apart (with vehicle movement / throttle) and grease sprayed all over the hot engine. This occurred on a very busy city street (4 lanes) and because the halfshaft broke the vehicle no longer had park (which was only discovered after getting out of the vehicle when the vehicle started to roll backwards ' had to jump in vehicle and set the parking brake). The vehicle had to be towed to the shop.
The vanshut off when it was doing 60 miles per hour the vanshut off like 7 times beforethe part died the part is power control module.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. While driving approximately 55 mph, the gear shifter would independently move from drive to second gear. In addition, the windows, radio, and wipers lost power. The contact had to push the key in the ignition to regain power. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 11v139000 (electrical system). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
When coming down an incline with the cruise control set, the motor begins to rev accessively within rpm redline and the speed of the vehicle starts to drop. This problem can only be corrected by pulling off the road and turning the vehicle off. The vehicle has been to two different dealerships, and the problem was reported to the better business bureau. People who work at the dealership have commented that they have the same problem with their 2008 dodge caravan as well, but dodge has said it is acceptable.
At 1,200 miles i was going 70mph (cruise control "on") up a hill on rt 40 in tennessee and the transmission went into limp mode 2nd gear. Engine light came on. I drove the shoulder at 30mph and took an exit. Roadside assist towed it to helms dodge. They pulled a "p0750" dtc code (solenoid a fault i think) but the transmission had reset and they couldn't make it go bad in 13 miles of driving. I asked them to check fluid level -- they said they would. They said if it happens again to turn it off for a few minutes and it may reset again. But, i made it home to ohio again without incident. Today, at 2,900 miles, it happened again! my wife had just driven it home from work and parked for 30 minutes (engine off). We went to go out to eat and 1000 feet from home (at 20 mph) it went into limp. But no engine light this time. I drove back into the driveway and let it sit (off) about 10 minutes. Then i tried it again and it shifted okay. I called the kings' chrysler/dodge dealer service rep (rob) and he said i should have it towed in by roadside assistance. Which i just did... Bill's towing picked it up at 9:15 (11-7-07) to be continued....
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The contact approached a stop sign on an incline and as the brake pedal was released, the vehicle suddenly rolled backward. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was able to duplicate the problem but advised that the vehicle was operating as designed. The manufacturer was made aware of the defect but was unable to provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 40,000.
Chrysler had a recall on many of their minivans built in january 2008, for replacement of the front hubs and wheel bearings.my 2008 dodge grand caravan had a wheel bearing go out at 35,000 miles and was replaced under warranty.i have asked why my van is not on the recall.no one seems to be able to explain.i now have almost 50,000 miles and the only warranty is the lifetime power train warranty.it is starting to make the noise again intermittantly.i don't trust this vehicle.
My parents, [xxx] received several recalls on their 08 dodge caravan starting in june/july of 2014.they called lithia dodge in helena, mt (3377 us hwy 12 east helena, mt 59601).they continued to get the run around about their van.at first lithia told them they needed to have the vin#.my father explained they already had it as it had been serviced and bought there.after no response, i emailed the owner, [xxx]on 9/23/14.he told me someone would be in contact with my elderly parents to schedule the repairs and they would also shuttle them to and from the dealership.several months later, they are still getting the run around.a few weeks ago when they called they were told that they could bring it in and lithia would put in the recalls that they had on hand, but the others would have to wait.at one point they were told they were #7 on the list, but the next time they called they were told that they had no idea who told them this.they called one time and were told that lithia was waiting for all of the recalled parts to come in but now when they call they are told they can repair what they have.this has been going on for almost 6 months with no resolution.my father is now fighting stage 4 cancer and is unable to drive so my mother is the only driver and i feel the van is unsafe for her to drive.i have emailed the owner several times since this incident and he will no longer respond.i do have all emails to and from him saved.this is ridiculous that my elderly parents can't get a recall fixed on their van.now there are several that need to be done including passenger restraint.dealer's shouldn't be able to treat people like this.they also purchased their van at lithia.please advise as what our options are.lithia dodge in helena is the only dodge dealer in the vicinity.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The contact was driving 15 mph while making a u-turn when another vehicle caused her to apply extreme pressure to the brakes. The seat belt connected tothe child seat opened and the child fell forward. The child was taken to the hospital with a bloody nose and a cut on the lips. The vehicle has not been to the dealer to have the seat belt inspected. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure when the complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 120,000.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan.the contact stated that her 6 and 7 year old sons were both slightly leaning over the seat, and one of them pressed a button.the seat suddenly released and pinned both children between the well of the vehicle and the tailgate.they were both complaining that they could not breathe.the contact exited the vehicle and released the tailgate.both children fell out of the vehicle and their heads struck the cement.the seven year old sustained a bump on his head and stated that his head hurt.the powertrain was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 1,497.
Started the vehicle one morning and drove up to a stop sign. I was in a city street making a left turn. Saw clear from both directions of any traffic.accelerated and the bas,esp light, and traction light came on. At this point the vehicle wanted to stall, lost power, and steering became difficult. Stopped the vehicle and restarted the engine and accelerated again to about 20 mph and the vehicle repeated the stalling and hesitated to accelerate, once above 30 mph all lights continued on and the vehicle kept driving accordingly. Every time the vehicle is started up and drove from that date of jan.26,2021 the vehicle malfunctioning continues. I find this to be a severe mechanical problem and a danger to me, my family, and the public.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph he heard a high pitched squeal. The vehicle was moved from the highway and the contact further inspected the vehicle. There was an immense amount of heat coming from the rear wheels. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the calipers had seized. The vehicle was repaired however, two years later the calipers on the front also seized. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 15,000 and the current mileage was 50,000.
While on vacation trip front brakes became hot. Stopped and checked, tire was so hot could not touch. Firestone complete auto care made repairs on 6/17/2014 replaced (calipers) rotors and pads.on 10/10/2014 rear brakes became too hot . Dealerrepaired replaced calipers and brake pads 53,000 miles. Very dangerous tires became too hot firestone $696.85dealer $694.07total $1390.92. Called on 10/17/2014 to chrysler llc customer center talked to rep.no help on caliper brake issue.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. While driving 5 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the brakes. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was unavailable.
The brake rotors warp every 20,000 miles or so, so bad that the steering wheel shakes.this has happened on both my 2008 and my 2011 caravan.dodge has known about this problem for years and has refused to address it other than to give a discount only if you ask for it.getting them fixed at the dealer is a pain cause they take the van for at least a day some times two.also the wheel bearings on the 2008 did not last very long at all first set was replaced under warranty(37,000 miles) second set(68,000miles) was not.i have not had the wheel bearing issue on the 2011.the wheel bearings are sealed so it has nothing to do with the warped rotor issue.
Spongy brake pedal goes almost to the floor to stop the vehicle. I replaced master cylinder, same problem, replaced power booster, same problem. This is a major design flaw with this vehicle with major complaints across the country and nothing has been done to date by hntsa to make chrysler dodge fix this major safety issue with all dodge grand caravans.
My van cuts off while driving. Its very dangerous. I've almost beenrear ended a few times. I've had the ignition changed as part of the recall but my van has been cutting off everyday now. This happens more when you first start driving the car. About 2 minutes after the van has been started to drive.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph and depressing the brakes it was difficult for the vehicle to slow down. After merging off the highway the contact inspected the vehicle. The vehicle was later taken to a dealer for diagnosis. The technician advised that the left rear brake and caliper became too hot and wore the pad down causing the failure. The vehicle was repaired for the left and right rear brake and caliper. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000. The current mileage was approximately 73,000. The vin was unavailable.
While driving down on ramp at chamberlayne ave in richmond, va to major highway i64 cutoff completely, no power, no brakes no nothing! second time, travel @ approx. 65 mph on i64 near bottoms bridge exit on i64, car cut off, no power, no brakes, no nothing! third time - entering i64 towards va beach, va in traffic approx. 40 mph, car cut off, no power, no brakes, no nothing; fourth time - while driving down mercury blvd at the king st exit ramp, 20 mph, car cut off, no power, no brakes, no nothing! fifth time, leaving work at 2114 executive dr, hpt va, approx. 10mph entering into street, car cut off, no power, no brakes, no nothing, after being evaluated for 8 hrs by dodge dealership; sixth time, when leaving mercury blvd at king st exit ramp, 20 mph, car cut off, no power, no brakes, no nothing after computer was reset!
Traveling 55 down highway suddenly brake engages and brake came up on dash board.brake stays on for a minute or so then notice that it sounds as if i am over revving engine.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan.the contact stated that the vehicle would vibrate continuously and without warning when driving at any speed. The contact also stated that the brakes would not release from the rotors.the vehicle was not taken to a dealer.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v373000 (air bags, electrical system); however, the part needed to do the repair was not made available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time to provide the part to do the repair. While driving approximately 40 mph, the engine seized twice and the steering and brakes seized.the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
2008 dodge caravan brake pads need to be replaced at 15,000 miles. I thought on average, the brake pads are changed every 50,000 miles. I am concerned because if these brake pads need to be changed every 15,000 miles, i will need to change my brake pads every year and i think there is something wrong with this. I am hoping that you can resolve this issue by seeing if dodge chrysler will cover the brake pads as part of their warranty.
Brake replacement -rotor -pads- front and rear - 16790 miles.
The brakes drag very badly on this car, presumably due to some failure of the anti lock braking system. This brakes are badly overheated all the time, which is a safety defect, and, even with disc brakes can cause failure. The master brain for the brake system is located where it's guaranteed to be splashed by water and where any leakage from the transmission or engine is gong to foul the connections.
Grand caravan sxt, 15,600 miles, front brakes and rotors are worn, and need replaced.occurs when you press on the brakes can hear screeching sound and grinding.chrysler is aware of the issue tsb# 05-006-08.but they make sure to limit their warranty to only 12 months, 12000 miles.
Premature brake wear -front pads at 15,423 miles - front pads and rotors at 30,687 miles.
Year and half ago we received a recall letter from dodge concerning our 2008 dodge caravan, reference to the front brake pads.its seems the brake pads were defective due to early wear out.the recall pads were replace by scott evans dodge according to service manager with a pad that more metal in the composition of the pad.now a year and few months later , i took my car in for front end realignment and scott evans is saying thebrake pads that replaced the recall pads are now showing early wear out and should be replaced!!!!!!how is this possible,my car only has 31687 miles on it and now brakes pads are being replaced twice.my concern is the pads they put on to replace the recall pads were also defective due to early wear out also.being this deal with vehicle brake please investigate and found if dodge is replacing recall pads and possible defective pads due to early wear out also.my wife and are in our late 50's and do not travel alot nor are our driving habits our of the norm.the miles on the car reflect this.please investigate [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Multiple brake failures on my 2008 dodge caravan.
2008 dodge caravan.normal driving led to brakes wearing out and rotors needing to be replaced at 12000 miles and rear brakes wearing out at 17000 miles.dodge is putting inferior pads and rotors on the front and inferior brake pads on the back.they know this is a problem.most autos will go much further on pads.i believe theyhave done this deliberately in order to get more volume in the service bays at the dealership.
I bought a 2008 caravan from a local dealer, the first road trip we took the front brakesgot hot and pulled to the left, causing the motor to loss power, we took it to the dealer to have it checked and they couldn't find anything wrong. I believe this is a safety issue andi am afraid to drive the vanfor long distance, what can i do?
Brake pads and rotors failed after 15,000 miles and have been replaced about every 15,000 miles. I have replaced them 4 times in 2 years.
Needed new brakes, rotors , pads & on front wheels after only 30,000 miles.
My brakes need to be replaced at 16,500 miles on my 2008 dodge grand caravan sxt.
2008 dodge grand caravan with mileage at 25,000 the brakes and rotors had to be replaced on both front and back at a cost of $815.00.not included in warranty even though vehicle purchased new in february, 2009. Right rear wheel became very hot and smoking.there was a terrible smell like metal on metal and when we put water on it - it sizzled.we still had 80miles until home and no garage opened on sat. Evening.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The contact stated that when he attempted to stop the vehicle, both the front and rear brakes made a loud noise. There was also a smell and smoke coming from the braking system. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired twice, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 10,000. The current mileage was 30,240.
Early wear on brake pads and rotors.brakes and rotors were replaced three times.mileage was 20,000 at first repair 40,000 miles at last repair. Traded in vehicle for 2010 grand caravan.same issues with 2010 and 17,000 miles.
Took vehicle in for regular maint. And was told brakes are metal on metal.this with only 20000 of highway miles. I had no expectation that brakes would be so bad so early with such light duty.potentail disaster!
2008 dodge caravan brakes and rotors replaced multiple times with low mileage on vehicle.purchased the vehicle in march of 2008 and had to replace the breaks and rotors for the 1st time in sept. 2009.the 2nd time was in apr. 2010.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge grand caravan.the contact stated the front driver side caliper bracket caused the brakes to wear prematurely and cause an increase in stopping distance and time.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer advised that there was nothing they could do because the vehicle was out of warranty.one year prior the the failure, the dealer replaced the entire brake caliper but the unit malfunctioned again.the contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic where the mechanic replaced the caliper bracket unit. The failure mileage was 52,000. The vin was unavailable.
I bought a 2008 dodge caravan from dealer on jan,1 2008.replaced front brake pads at @ 25,000 miles.i had to replace rear brakes at @ 45,000.just replaced the front pads again along with new rotors at 54,000 miles.
I purchased a brand new 2008 dodge grand caravan in oct. 2008.at 22,226 miles the dealership replaced front brake pads and machined front rotors.at 29,595 they machined the front brake rotors again.there was still shimming in the brakes so at 29,847 i took the car back to dealership.they replaced front brake rotors, machines rear brake rotors and replaced rear brake pads.at 31,854 my brakes were constantly squeaking.dealership inspection brakes and said "normal characteristic of this model/brake.under certain conditions due to material type and glazing brake life is approximately 90% life remaining front and rear."then at 35,665 i brought back to dealership for another inspection.i reported "excessive brake noise."their response was "brakes ok.approximately 65% life remaining.noise detected was characteristic. No abnormal conditions detected at this time."so basically in just 3,800 miles i went through 30% of the brakes life.this is after having front and rear pads and rotors replaced.i have received a letter stating chrysler is extending warranty of front brakes to 36,000 miles.my problem is that what happens after 36,000 miles and what about the rear brakes?how do i know i am driving with safe brakes?the dealers response was to bring the vehicle in for inspections.i called and spoke to the "chrysler recall team" and was told there are upgraded parts for the brakes on my vehicle but the dealership says that because i'm past the 36,000 miles they will not correct the problem with the upgraded parts.
While driving at 25 mph towards a stop sign. I applied the brakes and i had no brakes. None, without warning the brakes completely failed.went through the stop sign. Fortunately there were no vehicles coming and no pedestrians crossing.have driven for 40 years and never had anything like this happen. Very very dangerous. Had vehicle taken to dealer in spokane. Do not know what the problem is yet. This is the first year of a redesigned body style. Maybe this is just the beginning of trouble for this vehicle.
Both front and rear brakes of the vehicle have worn out prior to 30,000 miles. The fronts were gone at 18k, the rears gone right at 30k. The front brakes were replaced under an "extended warranty", but, the rears had to be fixed personally, dealer wanted to charge almost 300 dollars to fix a problem they knew they had. I know the front brakes probably already are half way worn down again after only 12k miles on the replacement pads.
2008 dodge grand caravan brake wear. On 10/01/09 my 2008 dodge caravan with 13901 miles on the speedometer required the front and rear brake pads be replaced and front and rear rotors be turned. In august of 2010 chrysler group llc, the manufacturer of dodge caravan, sent me a limited warranty extension for 2008 dodge caravans front brakes.the letter states in part that "should the front brake components on your vehicle need to be replaced due to a defect in materials, workmanship or factory preparation", "chrysler will pay for the cost of parts and labor","less a $50 deductible". On 08/23/10 my 2008 dodge caravan with 25494 required that front and rear brake pads and front and rear rotors be serviced again. Chrysler authorized the replacement of the front brake pads and rotors but would not authorize the replacement of the rear brake pads or rotors. Chryslers customer assistance representative "britney" stated that chrysler was working on an extended warranty for the rear brakes. I believe that by issuing the extended warranty on the front brakeschrysler is well aware of a problem with the braking system on the 2008 dodge caravan. Chrysler, i believe, has initiated a silent recall, if you will, due to a flaw in the engineering design of it's braking system.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. Whenever the contactdrove the vehicle at any speed he noticed a squealing sound in the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that all of the braking components needed to be replaced. The current and failure mileages were 29000.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The contact was driving 50 mph when the antilock brake activated without warning, causing the vehicle to become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the clock spring in the steering wheel.the manufacturer was notified of the failure who advised that the engineering department would return his call at a later date and offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 82,000.
Grinding noise when braking.kept getting worse.taken to dealer at 16,000 miles.told front brakes were worn out.replaced front brakes.charged over $300 - not under warranty.told back brakes would probably go also.this is on a 2008 dodge caravan.many others have written to complain with same problem.local dealer said they had4 front and back replacements recently.all only had 16-18,000 miles.this is in a small town.with that many complaints, chrysler will rapidly lose customers.
Rear break components (pads, rotors, lr caliper) at 30k on 12/10/09. Front pads replaces on 1/14/10 at appx 31k: front pads and rotors on 4/2012 (3rd set) at 58k calipers not frozen:this vehicle year was the first year of the 4.0 l engine. Already engine no longer an option:later model years (2010 and later) have larger callipers and pads.i truly believe this vehicle was redesigned and offered without consideration to the brake system components. The vehicle was so new that my owner manual doesn't reference the 4.0 liter engine.this model year has numerous complaints of premature break wear.
2008 dodge grand caravan, front brakes were replaced in less then 12 months, down to metal. Now right rear brake is bad, no pad left rotor thin. Chrysler said come in and pay for an inspection. Service person said she sees alot of this but no one complains and just pays to have repairs done. Internet message boards filled with caravan brake complaints. 2 brake repairs in less the 12000 miles wrong.
I have a 2008 dodge caravan with 35k on it.we have had to replace the brakes two times in this year. The driving done with this car is highway miles with little or no constant braking involved.i replaced brakes in oct 2009 - when i went to dealer in mid november was told that i should replace again as they were becoming unsafe.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan se. The contact stated that the front brake and rotors was replaced at 23,000 miles and failed at 46,000 miles. The dealer was notified of the failure who advised the contact that it was not uncommon for the brakes to wear prematurely. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 23,000 and the current mileage was 46,050.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan.the contact noticed excessive brake dust on the tires of his vehicle.he also noticed that the rotors were of a softer metal than the brake pads, which could cause premature rotor wear.the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer.the current and failure mileages were 5,800.
2008 dodge caravan brake rotors have worn down prior to the brake pads.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The contact was driving at various speeds and when the brakes were engaged a loud noise was heard from outside of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the rear brake pads were replaced and rear rotor resurfaced. The failure mileage was 29,180.
The brakes on the 2008 dodge grand caravan are the worst.stay away from the dealer when you need to replace them they will rip you off.i brought my van there and they wanted to charge me over $900 for front brakes, rotors and a brake fluid flush which is !@#$%.the brakes wear out much too quick on this car and a recall should be issued.
My 2008 dodge caravan needs front and rear pads and my dealer said the rotors could be cut.i told him to take it off the lift. I can't afford that right now - just paid 2 college tuition payments. We bought the car brand new and this happened at 24,000. I do not drive fast. My hubby's toyota has almost 30,000 mi. And does not need brakes and he's a little tougher on a car!
Vehicle is a shuttle van.vehicle suddenly experienced loss of brake pedal firmness followed by the brake pedal going to the floor and not raising completely back up.also experienced sudden idle speed drop followed by a near stall.vehicle speed approximately 55mph.found vacuum brake check valve cracked with the pipe extension to the vacuum brake hose snapped off.plastic material of the valve itself had deteriorated, leaving a white chalky residue.valve replaced and vehicle returned to normal operation.

The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The contact stated that the rear side caliper bracket caused the brakes to wear prematurely, which caused an increase in stopping distance and time. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear brake caliper needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

I have had my dodge 2008 caravan for sometime. Was originally taken for repairs to the sliding door recall.
The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but the contact did not have the failure diagnosed and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 61,000. 2008 dodge caravan rear doorthe automatic door was beeping it was closing after i pushed the button.i dropped my keys and reached down to get them forgetting the door was closing.the door came down on my right arm just below the should causing a large bruise.the door continued closing after it hit me.this is the 2nd incident i have had with the van since i purchased it dec. 31, 2008.the other time it was a similar incident i dropped something and the door hit me quite hard in the head and did not stop closing.i believe the door should stop closing if something gets between it.

The 2008 dodge grand caravan is a lawsuit waiting to happen it somes with too many problems that i believe the creators if this vehicle knew about but put out for production any how for the love of money. Too many lives are put at risk. This car stalled and stopped on the highway, wouldnt start on certain occasions its scary
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The contact stated that a loud humming noise would emit from the rear of the vehicle when driving at various speeds. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired, but the contact felt that the failure was related to the wheel bearings. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 34764.the humming noise would go away sometimes then come back.
1st started 1 days after purchase of our dodge , 2008 , caravan, from mike patton chry-dodge- jeep, lagrange, ga , june, 12, 2008.we notice a pulling of the car to the right with hands off the wheel and high rate of over 40 mph, both on the rrural and interstate driving.took back to dealer and had to replace what they refer to as a " cam bolt "component on the right front tire. Over the next couple of years we conti to notice a steady pull to right, the alignment was neve out of align we had check twiced.june of 2011 we are having to replace right front tire and after rotation of tire atleast 3 tires for wear on the outside. All these tires have been place on the right front at some time or another due to tire rotation.i believe the cam bolt componment was defective from the manufacture date of the of the vehicle. The tires on the vehicle are rate for 60,000 miles, miles on vehicle at this time31278.we are now back at the different dodge dealer to have determine if this is the same problem or not.

Tire pressure monitoring sensor/valve stem 2008 dodge grand caravan...valve broke off trying to unscrew cap. It is corroded and only has 40000 miles.
I went to put air into the tire and the air stem broke off.
1.while driving (at 30mph) in our 2008 dodge caravan, the right front tpms valve stem broke off and the tire immediately deflated.2.valve stem broke off below the valve core deflating the tire, moved vehicle to side of road.3.vehicle towed to tire shop where tpms was replaced for $70.00.still have old tpms.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. While driving approximately 30-40 mph a half moon indicator illuminated on the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the air sensor for the left rear tire needed to be replaced. The dealer replaced the sensor with a rubber valve stem. The contact stated that the air sensor was on back order and he did not know when they would be available. The air sensor light remained illuminated continuously. The vehicle was not repaired.the vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 34,600 and the current mileage was 36,900.
Tire sensor light went on in our 2008 dodge caravan.went to put air in tires and found 2 of the 4 valves stems broken off towards the end of the stem.the pieces were still there being held in place by the cap.we purchased this vehicle used in june 2009.these are the tpms stems.i went online and found that this is avery common problem.why hasn't there been a recall on these type of stems?
I have a 2008 dodge caravan and just touched the tire valve stem.the top of the cap came off and the tire deflated in less than 8 seconds. I called the dealer and they said it's not covered.i asked the repair shop and they said the tire pressure monitoring sensor stems on the chrysler/dodge commonly break off and they have had many. It's a common problem.on the dodge/chrysler forums this happens many time. It ended up costing me 82 and i had to take the tire off.just by brushing the stem it cracked off is a major safety concern. With snow, or something else brushing across the stem this could lead to an instant tire deflation and los of control a lethaldesign!!
I was about to add air to the front tire and was removing the cap when the valve blew apart about halfway down the stem. The tire went flat immediately. We had the dealer replace the tpm valve stem but they had to order it and it took a week to get the part. I asked them to change the other 3, but they said they will only replace one valve at a time as they fail. My wife was 9 months pregnant at the time and this is our only car, so i wasconcerned that it would happen again, possibly while driving since it had broken so easily. Sure enough, two weeks later a second valve stem failed and the tire went flat very fast. Luckily i was just on my way back to the hospital to bring her a few things and driving slowly on a residential street. Again, i'm told they will just order one valve and replace them as they fail. This is obviously a problem they know about but don't want to deal with. Hopefully no one is injured or killed in an accident from one of these failing.
The tpms stems have broken off the wheels on my car while driving tire went flat and i happened to be parking at the time so thank god i was not on the highway at the time.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The contact stated that while replacing the tire the valve stem broke. The contact stated that this should not happened since the part was attached to the sensor. The mechanic placed a valve stem that was not made for the vehicle as a temporary fix but the sensor light on the dashboard illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 35,595.
2008 dodge caravan. Consumer writes in regards to tire pressure monitoring valves. *tgwthe consumer stated the vehicle was equipped with computerized tire pressuring monitoring valves which were deficient in nature due to the poor quality of the materials. After three years of use, while trying to simply unscrew the valve cover to check the air pressure, the cheap plastic end broke off in his hand, due to corrosion. Leaving him with a flat tire. On a separate occasion, while driving at high speed, another tire monitor holding screw released due to corrosion of the holding threads, and the tire went flat, destroying it in the process.
The contact owns a 2008 dodge caravan. The contact stated that the rear passengers external valve stem failed and caused the rear passengers tire to collapse. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the valve stem had failed due to excessive corrosion and would need to be replaced. The repair was done at no cost to the contact. Within three weeks, the exact failure occurred to the front passengers tire. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted to report the second failure. The failure mileage was 23,000 and the current mileage was 24,000.
All gages are flashing with a binging sound all gages are jumping and turning signals only work when they want while parked and driving. Also driver side window buttons and locks are not working.
I had the dodge dealer order parts for recall r03 on june 15, 2015.i called the dealer 3 times and no parts are available. I call chrysler and got no answer.how can i get this recall done
We received notice of a recall approx 6-7 months ago. The letter said we'd be getting a follow up notice.after waiting for a month, we contacted the dealer in yakima, wa and were told we'd be contacted when they had the replacement part. We have never heard another word about this recall! i think we've waited long enough..not to mention the jeopardy of the defective part.

I received a recall notice for my 2008 dodge caravan."the wireless ignition node (win) on your vehicle may have unintentional movement of the frequency operated button ignition key (fobik) from the "on" to the "accessory" position while driving.this could cause unintended engine shut off and increase the risk of a crash."over the past month, i havecontacted 2 separate dealers as well as chrysler.there are no parts available for this recall.and there is no projection when these parts will be available.how can there be a recall notice and no parts available?when will these parts be available?is there a penalty that can be inflicted on chrysler for being unable to rectify this recall?
What is the status of the l25 recall. Part is still not available.what is taking so long?

I have had my dodge 2008 caravan for sometime. Was originally taken for repairs to the sliding door recall.
My car was recalled and dodge is not fixing it. The dealer keeps saying that the part is not being sent to them. I recieved the recall notice in november of 2014 and they still have not fixed the car.
I was sent a recall notice and i called the chrysler co and the person i talked to said as soon as the part came in they would e-mail me. I have not recieved one and this was back in june and i did not get one yet.

I have had 2 rear windows shot out by a stone that was slung by a string type weed. Eater.both times the windows completely shattered.the only glass left were the pieces glued to the hinges.the car was parked both times.if anyone had been in the back seat, it is likely that they would have glass in their eyes.i thought automobile glass was supposed to be shatter resistant.
We have a 2008 caravan when the weather is cod outside the dash lights come on and off and the wipers come on by themselves while the seat belt chime keeps going off.can't find any answers on what the problem is and why it only does this when cold.
2008 dodge caravan sxt, experiencing wipers with fluid coming on randomly with lights flashing, doors locking and unlocking and horn blowing erratically. I have also experienced the tpms, abs and traction control lights coming on and off while driving.
Wipers, lights, horn, door locks all seemed to go off went no warning wipers start spraying fluid by itself. Could not get to stop windows would not work, had to pull hornfuses to make horn stop blowing disconnect batteryto make sure it would start to have it taken tobe looked at very disappointed in vehicle only 81,500 miles on it
Was driving home at night when randomly my lights started flashing, horn started blaring, windshield wipers started going off, washer fluid was spraying everywhere.locks were locking and unlocking.
I was driving the van on the highway and it went crazy horn blaring windshield wipers going real slow and fluid going everywhere i could not see because the fluid was coming out faster then wipers were going!!! i had to pull over until all the windshield fluid was gone. When i got home my husband had to unhook the battery because the horn was still blaring and it was 10.30 at night and i have neighbors with children sleeping.
Vehicle wipers and washers start on their own, horn will blow, lights flicker, door locks open and close, vehicle will not shut off or sometimes will not start. This has happened both while driving and stationary.
Windshield wipers come on all by themselves and can not be turned off.all gauges on front dash short in and out, including blinkers.difficult to concentrate on driving when the wipers are going, there's a alert "ding" sound going off, and gauges are going crazy on the front dash.dealership states that it is tipm module and want $900 to replace it.
