I bought a 2006 dodge caravan in 2009.it had 20,000 at that time.shortly after purchase we drove the van approximately 100 miles.it began making roaring noises so i pulled over and stopped.after sitting for about 20 minutes, i started the car again and there was no noise.every time i traveled for over 45 minutes, this would happen. I took the car to be looked at several times but no one could find a problem.finally in january of this year the car started making this noise all of the time and my son-in-law, who is a mechanic, said that it needed power steering fluid.that fixed the problem for awhile.in march, i took my car in and was told that the rack and pinion needs to be replaced!very expensive!the car is now only making noise when i go through standing water.also, the airbag warning light illuminates at intervals.it seems that a lot of people are having these same complaints.i think that dodge needs to do some recalls and some repairs!

Currently have about 86,000 on the vehicle.the headlights, more and more, are deciding to refuse to turn on.there is no darkness indicator, just an old-fashioned turn knob with three settings (off, parking lights, headlights).also, the headlights when working, decide to not switch off when the knob is turned to off.this is intermittent and, so far, mechanics have been unable to diagnose the problem.i see from other sites that many, many people are having these problems with these minivans and eventually, if not already, somebody is going to die when these lights cut off unexpectedly.

I got a 2006 dodge caravan and after 3 months of having the car and only having 3,000 miles on it, the car has stopped 5 times and lost it's power going up hills. The dealer just said bring it back if it happens again.

Driving on the interstate when dash board lights started to flicker on and off, the engine stalled for a few second, but did not lose power. What going on, why is this happening.

2006 dodge caravan sxt 3.3l,98000 miles driving at night, headlight going off i need to turn off and on headlight switch light go on and off, after 10 minutes alloutside light are off, weary scary, it happeningalmost everyday i mean night,, i look what is the problem, maybe headlight switch i going tomorrow and buy and seeif is ok,, i own this van since 2010 with no light problem???

I own a 2006 dodge caravan and about a month ago i noticed a problem when i use my turn signals. Sometimes they work fine, sometimes not at all, and sometimes the opposite blinker will turn on (ex: i use the right blinker but the left blinker come on and vise versa). This has been happening pretty much everyday since it first started. A couple of days ago when i started the car i noticed the airbag light stayed on and the passenger airbag off light on the dash stayed lit. This was very concerning because i don't know if that means the airbag is malfunctioning and won't work in an accident. I decided to do some online searching for these type of problems concerning the dodge caravans and realized that hundreds and hundreds of people were experiencing the same exact problems i am having. This is a huge safety concern because this is primarily my wife's car in which we carry our 3 children. From what i hear from other people experiencing the same issues is that this is related to a wind shield wiper problem as well. This has not yet happened to my car but i am sure it will probably start soon. If so many people are having the same problems i don't understand why there has not been a recall on this problem.

I have a 2006 dodge caravan slx about a month after i bought it the sliding door on the drivers side stopped working i took it in and they fixed it right away. In june 2010 my van door the same one that was broke from before came open when i was driving then it happened again a few days later.i reported this to dodge and chrysler corp. And they are refusing to fix this problem because no one else has had this problem with there van and reported it.i am worried that one of my four children are going to fall out the door and get hurt or even killed because of this problem i would like to see dodge fix my van because it isn't my fault the door is broke and it is a safety problem.

We own a 2006 dodge caravan , the turn indicator does not work correctly , it flashes on the wrong side , if you click it to turn left the lights work for the right side , some time it will not work at all.

I began having trouble with my right front window not rolling down. Then head lights began to flash on and off. I disconnected the battery first negative then positive removed ecm and cleaned all pins on ecm and the socket it plugs into using electronic parts cleaner. I waited for the socket and pins to dry before replacing the ecm and reconnecting the power. Problem resolved itself for a while. Now all problems came back and the battery light came on. Replaced the battery and alternator. The problem went away for a week now all problems came back and vehicle is unable to be driven. I believe there is a problem with the ecm's made for this vehicle. There are many reports of people having the same issues and no recalls. I believe that the ecm is causing many problems since all 3 issues are controlled by the ecm unit.

Driving down a crowded interstate and the dash cluster started going crazy then stopped working.mechanic said it was a kniwn wiring issue with the cluster and anti theft device.

Driving at night and headlights just randomly turn off!!!have to keep flicking high beams on to get them to stay on.not safe when you can't see topull off side of road.

I have a 2006 dodge caravan; it too shut down on me while going down the hwy at 70mph and all three of my children were in the van. Thank the lord that no one was hurt.this was the first time that my van had ever done this but was not the last; this van had shut down on me a couple more times.i took the van to a local shop, but never found out anything. I was told that it could be the heat of the south texas weather, but i thought cars were made to withstand all weather.then it started having electrical issues; like the light would go on and off in the middle of the night, really at any time with no keys in it, the wipers would come on when i didn't need them to or would not come on in the rain were i needed it the most, the dome light would come on while driving home at night, or while taking my kids to school the dome light would come on and not go off.i no longer can drive the van, because it started fire christmas morning while my husband was driving, we were getting ready to go out of town.i have looked on line and it seems that this has happened to others were the van shuts down while driving or the driver smelt or seen smoke coming from under the dash near the fuse box. There was one that the guy called triple a after his car shut down on the interstate and started smoking under the dash.there is about 3-4 dz listing were their van had what they called kindred spirits light, radio, door locks you name it going on & off. A 2006 caravan like mine in fort lewis, wa totally shut down while driving & rear ended another car. There is a website that has steps to trouble shoot the electrical system in a dodge caravan, three are check your ground connection & two of those is if you loose power while driving.

Driving in the early morning, road conditions were wet, slight drizzle, misty, very humid.radio began flickering along with air conditioner and winshield wipers.after a few minutes, front dashboard went dark.the following systems stopped functioning:fan (including air conditioner)windshield wipersradio12v outletforced to pull over into a hotel for the remainder of the morning until sensor/fuse box was able to dry out.once dry, all systems operated normally.please note the air bad sensor was on at the same time as per nhtsa# 10v00800.

The sliding doors open as your traveling down the road.

Most times, when i try to turn on my headlamps at night they do not turn on when i turn the switch.it usually takes me anywhere from 10 to 20 turns to get the headlamps to turn on and sometimes they will come on only for a few seconds and then turn back off.often, while i am in motion at night, the headlights will simply turn off for no apparent reason but i have noticed that it seems to happen more when the alternator or fans start or when i am at a low rpm and then i have to pull over and try to get the lights back on.i have also noticed that when the vehicle is parked and all switches are off, the lights will turn on and off randomly.i have tried to locate a fuse and/or relay several times but do not know where to find those... They are not in the fuse relay center under the hood.this problem only effects the headlamps, the tail lights, front marker lights, brake lights, and turn signals all work finei have also found numerous posts on different websites complaining about the same exact problem.

3 yrs ago, fire in engine compartment while i was driving. Could not open doors windows or engine hood. I did have window down when this occurred. Just last week a woman in a car (type not known-) in spokane was trapped and had to be rescued when her car caught fire and she couldn't open door or window. She was lucky a cop busted a window and dragged her out. This is a spooky thing if all cars are like that in a fire.car had died in street.mine ignited at stop light. You have a very hidden problems in these plastic cars. If mine had happened a day later then there could have been a loss of seven young children that were going on a trip along with my daughter who was driving. Scary and no one seems concerned.

The horn on my 2006 dodge caravan honks spontaneously. This occurs usually when turning right but it has occurred while driving straight. This is an unsafe condition since the honking frightens and distracts the driver and passengers. The vehicle has been taken to the dodge dealer in harlingen, tx, but the service department refused to work on the vehicle as they could not replicate the problem in the shop.

Car sometimes stalls once or twice within a few minutes of filling up gas tank, especially in cold weather.this started about 1 year ago and happens suddenly and sometimes in traffic.after driving further the car is ok until next fill-up.a web site claims we must replace the entire gas tank and other equipment.http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/dodge-caravan/tlg43itp0rvgn1ioq.

Every time after filling up the gas, the car dies on road after less than .5 mile driving. However, it can be restarted again after several minutes.

My 2006 dodge caravan was bought brand new from the dealer. After 80000 miles it develop a very bad leak. I took it to mechanic number 1 who told me that the crank shaft has a manufacturing problem - to much end play has occurred and was grinding on some of the components in the engine including the oil pump.i thought he was saying that to make more money so i told him to replace the oil pump which he did.two weeks later the problem started again. I took the van to mechanic number 2. Who told me the same problem. The crank shaft has a major problem in the 2006 dodge caravans. The oil drips so muchand gets blown on the exhaust and burns - that might catch fire so left it with mechanic number 2. To repair this problem according to the 1st and 2nd mechanics the whole bottom part of the engine has to be replaced and perhaps the engine block as well. Since this is a major problem with the dodge caravan 2006 i think it will be fair for the manufacturer to take responsibility.

Van had a sudden shake, than engine dies,(going at slow speed) engine light stays on,changed oil, went to auto shop, used a gas cleaner, engine light went out, but came back on a few weeks later, now engine stalls, or light comes back on often, most of my driving is in town or dropping/picking up off kids at school engine shut off 3-21-13 while driving 30-35 ms, and thankfully was able to get off road without accident. Had it checked and 1 part would be $80 to 125.00 dollars. Warranty of course is expired, any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Driving on the interstate when dash board lights started to flicker on and off, the engine stalled for a few second, but did not lose power. What going on, why is this happening.

While driving, the engine just suddenly died, stopped working leaving a 1.7 ton vehicle with no steering or brakes, it was a miracle i rolled to a stop and did not caused an accidentit happened a few more times, this vehicle is a ticking time bomb, we need to file a class action lawsuit against dodge-chrysler, records show this happened to a lot of people quite a few times.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge caravan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate. After refueling the engine cut off and lost all power in the van while turning into a parking lot. This happens consistantly after refueling. The van will begin to shake then cut off completely. I am able to restart it again and gain full power. Resently, it cuts off after refueling and in the rain.

When i fill the gas tank up, the van stalls after a couple of minutes of driving.at first, i thought that i had gotten some gas with water in it at the gas station. But then it happened again.then i thought that maybe it had something to do with topping the tank off.so, i don't top it off anymore, but i am still having the same stalling problem.

The van silently stalls.so far it has only happened at low speeds.when this happens it becomes very hard to steer and brake.the first incident was during a u-turn with my 2yr old child and wife in the car.we ended up having to make use of the wheel chair ramp on the side walk.mechanics have been unable to diagnose and unable to fix and this is still a problem.

Engine developed severe oil leak.after 6 repairs in the last 13 months mechanic (monro muffler & auto) has said that the crankshaft end play is out of tolerance.only repair is to replace block or entire engine.

I own a 2006 dodge caravan with 2.4 liter, 4 cyl dohc 16 engine.this van was built at the factory in 2005 - sold new in january 2006 to a rental agency and i purchased later when the vehicle had about 19,000 miles on it.the van now has 63,000 miles (in november 2010).i noticed very significant engine oil leak near the oil filter housing.the leak was determined to be coming from the front crankshaft seal.i had this seal replaced but within a days it had popped out and was leaking again.i understand that there is a technical repair/service bulletin - case number [xxx] (do a google search to find) on this issue.i also see that there are two nhtsa cases with identical problems to mine listed on this site (10333917, 10257511).anybody see a trend here????it's pretty clear to me that dodge has manufacturing issues with this engine if the crankshaft is continuously kicking out the seal.i wasn't expecting major engine overhaul or replacement on this vehicle when i purchased it and, as i said, the van only has 63,000 miles.last dodge i will be buying!!information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My boyfriend noticed an oil leak under the van. We took it into a repair shop to have it fixed. They said that it was the front crankshaft seal. Ten days after it was fixed, the van started leaking again. We took it back to the shop. They fixed the leak again and took it for a test drive. The van stared leaking during the test drive so they ran a bunch of tests. They decided the problem was the oil pump. When they took the oil pan off to fix the pump, they found the thrust bearing in the oil pan. I decided to have it towed to a different repair shop. That shop told me that i'd have to replace the whole engine. I think that the bearing was faulty and that it defiantly shouldn't have gone out considering the van only has 30,000 miles on it. The second repair shop said that they couldn't fix just the thrust bearing becausethe engine was toast. I am the second owner of the van. When i bought the van it had 18,000 miles on it. It was under warranty, but it expired in november 2008. The second repair shop said that there are no used engines or refurbished engines available. I pay $305 a month in payments and can't afford a repair bill that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Exiting the freeway a going 70 my van turned off, struggled with the power steering, the gas light came on as the engine died, i got rear ended , while we waited to betowed the van sizzled and all the hazards and power went out, dark out.

On 7/29/08 i drove my vehicle to a business meeting and noticed the oil light flashing on and off. When i was through with the meeting i checked my oil to see if it was low and found that it was, when i pulled out of the parking space i found a puddle of oil on the ground. I drove directly to monro-joppa rd. Shop to get it checked out and they found that the crank shaft had cracked and was causing oil to pour out of the car. The replaced all parts necessary and it cost me $737. One week later on 8/8/08 i drove to another business meeting and coming out to my car found that it was leaking again. I took it back to monro-joppa rd. And they found that it was the same problem. They went to schaefer & strominger to obtain a dodge part (crank shaft) and was told by the service man there that they have been seeing this problem with certain dodge cars. The mechanic from monro asked why haven't the cars been recalled. The dodge service man gave the mechanic from monroa paper with the solution number and what would need to happen if it continues. The next step if this problem is not corrected, would be to replace the engine. I was given a copy of this form as well. So far this problem has been repaired twice and i am concerned about it happening again and causing me to replace an engine on a 2 year old van.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge caravan.the contact stated that the vehicle constantly shuts down.the failure was noticed while driving 55 mph.the vehicle is currently at the dealer.the dealer is unable to determine the cause of failure.the current mileage is 13,000 and failure mileage was 12,000.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge caravan.while driving various speeds in rainy weather conditions, the belts in the vehicle become wet when driving through an inch or more of water.as a result, the vehicle will have reduced power, a loss of power steering, and the alternator will reduce its conductivity.when the failure occurs, the contact is unable to make any turns due to the loss of power steering.he has to wait until the belts dry before the power steering can become operable again.the vehicle has not been taken to a dealer and no repairs have been made.the contact is in the process of notifying the manufacturer.the failure mileage was 22,000 and current mileage was 50,000.

The vehicle lost oil pressure.the vehicle had to be towed.it was found that the front seal had failed resulting in loss of 4 quarts of oil.when evaluated at a repair facility they found that the crankshaft had failed and was pushing the front seal out.i was told that a technical service bulletin was available to tell dealers how to fix the problem.i have found references in posts to others having a similar failure in this engine.

I started seeing fluid running from under van. I couldn't see where it was coming from> it did not appear to be from hoses etc.i took the van to repair shop. They found the seam of the radiator leading to the crimp where the plastic tank for fluid was the cause. I was told they had seen this before. They had to replace radiator. The van is a 2006 dodge grand caravan.

Letter from complaint regarding problems with his 2006 dodge caravan 3759 vin; the vehicle was repossessed on sept 30, 2010 and now has a recall on it; he is seeking help in having the vehicle returned to him.the consumer stated the vehicle seemed to lose power and made noises when going up a hill. Have had '06 grand sxt to dealer twice about sliding doors on both pass/drive side.in trying to close door using either push button/remote/visor button door will clunk and door motor runs for 2~3 seconds and door does not move.dealer has replaced door motors twice... I think this is becoming close to being a lemon !that was one of the buying points of this model was electric doors :((((( been very dissatisfied thus far.

Changing tire, vehicle jack failed and came crashing down almost killing the driver.upon review found jack failed.main bolt appears to have some kind of metal failure bolt bent and jack fall down.2006 7 passenger caravan sxt model 3.3 engine.half tank of gas.this can be an issue if these jacks were made out of poor metal and now 8 years later they start to fail.

2006 dodge caravan headlights intermittently turn off and on.

Driving at night and headlights just randomly turn off!!!have to keep flicking high beams on to get them to stay on.not safe when you can't see topull off side of road.

We own a 2006 dodge caravan , the turn indicator does not work correctly , it flashes on the wrong side , if you click it to turn left the lights work for the right side , some time it will not work at all.

Dodge caravan left tail light falls off when driving. If one can see your brake lights they can hit you. And i have found out it is a very commom. And not cheap to replace.

2006 dodge caravan, headlights turn on and off randomly while driving and parked. Sometimes you have to turn the headlight switch multiple times on and off to get the headlights to function.

When the key is out of the ignition, and the headlight switch is off, the parking lights come on and go off intermittently.sometimes i wake up to a dead battery.

Driving down the road at night headlamps suddenly without warning turn off.this has happened randomly several times since.usually jiggling the headlight switch will turn them back on again.have also noticed recently that the parking lights will suddenly come on then go off after a few minutes while care is parked and turned off.this is random.

Head lights dull & cracked.front passanger seat catching not retracting.rear window wiper just stops any posistion

When attempting to fill the tank with gas, even on near-empty tank, gas pump clicks off and gas spills out and runs down the body of the car onto the ground.dodge issued a recall for durango and other chrysler vehicles for a faulty check valve in the tank but not for my car (caravan).i'd like to lodge a complaint.dodge tells me that fixing this problem will cost me $1720 for a new gas tank.i believe dodge should fix it for me because it is dangerous to have gas spill out when attempting to fill.

Every time after filling up the gas, the car dies on road after less than .5 mile driving. However, it can be restarted again after several minutes.

After refuelling it has been stalling.this has been in cold weather for a while.now it is happening in warm weather.

Every time i fill the gas tank, it will only take a few gallons before clicking the pump off.after filling tank, while driving, the engine cuts off, thereby cutting power steering and brakes. Check engine light comes on and when checked it says evap system.

Car will stall after putting fuel in. It doesn't matter how much fuel, car will stall with no warning. Usually when pulling into traffic. This has happen several times at different gas stations. Real safety issue since you will not have any power to steer to a safe place. You have to turn car off, than start car for it to restart.dealership has replace several items but car still stalls. Now i'm told it's the fuel tank which is a costly repair. The problem is a design flaw. The water/ fuel purge value is bad and the only way to fix it, is to replace the fuel tank.i'm looking for a fuel tank but cannot fine one. Even the auto shop i use regularly cannot fine one, only at the dealership which costs three time more than what they would charge. Conspiracy?

Every time i put any amount of fuel in my tank of my 2006 dodge caravan sxt there is a very strong smell of gas coming from the engine compartment and after the van starts it will always stall out within a minute or two of starting up. It will stall idling in park as well as when in gear and starting out at slow speed and up to 25 miles per hour. It occurs more often when the fuel tank reaches the full mark. I have had the fuel pump assembly replaced which did not change the problem.

Van stalls after refueling. Sometimes moving and have to pull to the side of the road.

Nearly every time we fill the gas tank up (not pumping in extra after it stops to "top it off," just stopping when it first clicks), the engine will die about 30-60 seconds after we start driving away, almost as if the engine has flooded or something. It seems to happen most frequently if i happen to let off the gas at any point during those first 30-60 seconds. After doing some research, it seems this is a more common issue than it should be, but, on more than one occasion, we have been pulling out of the gas station onto a busy street right when our van dies. Thankfully, this has never happened when a car is coming directly at us, but it's certainly a possibility with the way it continues to happen. Again, doing research on this make/model/year of caravan has shown that it's not an uncommon occurrence, which i find particularly concerning. I would appreciate if something could be done about this so i can be sure my wife and children (not to mention myself if i'm driving, but i'm mostly worried about them) will be safe after filling up with gas in the future.

When gas tank is full leaks from the top of tank by fuel pump. Faulty pump cracked at seam and leaks.

The 2006 dodge grand caravan cannot be refueled at the gas station because of vapor not releasing in the gas tank.this is a common problem at the dealership and they want a large amount of money to replace the gas tank.

Gas leak on the top of the gas tank, when is almost full.

Van idles roughly and stalls immediately following refueling.we do not "top off" the tank but the van stalls within a minute of leaving the gas station.stalling seems to occur less in colder temperatures but the rough idle is consistant. This seems like the same problem that was covered for 2004-2005 model years by an extended warranty.this poses a safety hazard as the van could stall in traffic causing an accident.

2006 dodge caravan - passenger side sliding door power lock does not work most of the time.

Door locks on passenger and driver side in the rear of the vehicle fail to operate.

On my 2006 dodge caravan, the side power door locks do not work.i have spoken to other owners and they have had the same problem.the problem happens after the warranty period expires.the locks operate occasionally..sometimes they would work, and sometimes not.i realized it wasn't working when my child tried to open the door before we left the driveway, and all the doors should have been locked.this is a potential serious safety issue.

2006 dodge caravan door locks stop working. There are dozens maybe hundreds of complaints about this. Dodge has not provided any permanent fix. Passenger side rear door lock will not lock or unlock using button inside car or the keychain button.has to be locked or unlocked manually.

Back sliding passenger door will not lock or unlock using powerlocks, you have to manually lock and unlock the door. This is a major problem with kids in the van and i would like to know how to get this fixed with dodge footing the bill as it is a safety issue. Any information would be appreciated.

Sliding power doors and locks not working on 2006 dodge caravan.power door drive mechanism causes door to become heavy or impossible to operate manually.doors will work electronically as normal. Door lock actuator not working.will not lock with key fob or door switch must be operated manually.will not lock automatically at 15 mph with other doors.dealer replaced door motors 2 times.door lock mechanism not replaced yet.defective opener motors not allowing manual use could cause entrapment.door lock not activating automatically could also pose entrapment risk .

I am in the process of buying a 2006 dodge caravan. And there is aproblem with my power lock on the passenger side slider. It will only work manually and will not work powered. This started a few months ago for the previous owner. This is a safety issue and needs to be fixed. You can see for yourself that i am not the only person with this problem. Many many many people have this problem with this model vehicle the website is : http://autoforum.classifieds1000.com/dodge-grand_caravan/power_locks_will_not_lock_or_unlock . Please address this.

My wife was at the gas station she openedthedrivers side automatic sliding door to get her purse out andafter she retrieved her purse she pushed the close button on the door, and then opened the gas filler door and removed the gas cap as the sliding door was closing.the door stopped and automatically reopened, crashing into the gas filler door and crushingthe gas cap along the side of the van , leaving it dented.iwas able to replicate the issue.luckily , her hand didn't get crushed, and she didn't have gas pumping yet.

Since a dealer did a complete brake job on my 2006 dodge caravan, the parking brake won't release sometimes. It always happens after the vehicle sits with the parking brake on and it rains. The dealer said it's due to the type of material the brake shoes are made of, (oem parts too) so don't use the parking brake when it rains?!

My 2006 dodge caravan was making a noise when turning so when i got home checked power steering fluid and it was low. When checked the next day it was low again. So had it checked out at a garage and it was leaking from the rack and pinion. So it now needs replaced. Only have 61,000 miles on the car and have noticed it seems to be a constant problem on theses cars. Called a dealership about a recall and was told there is none and there never will be one. Can't afford to replace parts just yet so ijust keep adding fluid till i can get work done. But am very disappointed with dodge knowing there is a problem with this and not seeming to care about it at all.

The problem lies with the transmission that came installed in the 2006 dodge caravan.i am having a problem accelerating as low as 10mph on up to 65mp.it is not quick to accelerate. At times i feel as though there may be something wrong with the engine. I feel as though the car may have a hard time accelerating or like it may stop running or like it may explode. It is a hazard to my health and alarming to my kids as i use it to transport them to school. I have brought it to the dealerships' attention. I have looked on the internet only to find the problem with the transmission is not just my problem. It has been the problem of many other consumers.i have contacted dodge dealership only to find because i was not the original owner who purchased the vehicle i am not able to have it replaced under the limited powertrain warranty which covers the transmission. I purchased it in october-november 2009.it had 39000 miles on it at the time of purchase. It has always rode hard. I am finding although it is a 4 cylinder engine, it takes alot of gas. It is costing me a great deal as a single parent who uses this vehicle as my primary mode of transportation for myself and my 4 daughters.

The contact owns a 2006 dodge caravan.since june of 2009, the vehicle jerks and hesitates when stopping and then accelerating.the vehicle was taken in for repair, but the mechanic explained that no new parts were manufactured because the previous parts were defective.the mechanic received this information from the dealer.the failure mileage was 65,000.

Power steering noise.

There is a serious issue with the steering rack an pump on the 2006 dodge caravan.this appears to be a widely reported issue online.dodge has not taken any action to recall.

I have a 2006 dodge caravan which has been modified into a braun entervan since i am a quadriplegic. In december of 2010, at about 21,500 miles the power steering started squealing. The power steering fluid was low, so we added some. After another 100 miles, the squealing noise returned, the fluid was low again, so i knew that there was a problem. It was taken in for service and an investigation of the power steering system revealed that the power steering fluid was leaking from the steering gear/rack n pinion unit. Although the vehicle had low mileage, it was more than three years old, so the warranty was expired. I had no recourse except to have them remove and replace the steering rack n pinion assembly at a cost of $870.00 to me. The service technician told me that there was no way that this system should have failed at this low of mileage and urged me to file a complaint. A year previous, i had to replace the control panel for the electric side door and wheelchair ramp at a cost of $600.00 to me since the van was five months past the warranty. Because it dealt with a modification to accommodate a wheelchair, i assumed that dodge would not stand behind it, and didn't file a complaint then. Since i am on social security disability income, these expenses have put a big financial strain on me. With expensive failures like this occurring at this low of mileage, i'm dreading what more may happen.

I purchased a 4 cyl 2006 dodge caravan on april 28th, 2006. On may 22nd the power steering failed completely while my wife and family were out shopping. There was a substantial leak of red fluid that had spayed the entire inside of the engine compartment. (afterwards i realized how fortunate we were that there wasn't a fire) we had it towed to the dealership and were told that a hose wasn't properly "torqued" at the factory and had come off the power steering pump. I voiced my concern that all the hoses, belts and wiring had been subjected to a solvent and that it needed to be cleaned up.no effort was made to remove or clean up the solvent.i had to insist and another service was scheduled.i am still not satisfied as the engine now chatters and chirps for the first 20 minutes or so when first started. What else was "left not properly torqued" at the factory?

I own a 2006 dodge grand caravan with 42,000 miles on it.the rack-in-pinion power steering system is failing and leaking power steering fluid, causing a loss of power steering, which is a potential safety hazard.according to the chrysler dealer that is doing the repair, chrysler repaired 10,000 of these in february alone.they admit there is a manufacture defect in the 2005-2006 models of the caravan.chrysler is toying with the idea of providing assistance with the repair, which will cost me about $800.00.(because i am 5,000 miles past the warranty).

Leaking rack and pinion steering component. Part has been back ordered for 5 weeks. Dodge can not get the part. Vehicle is a 2006 grand caravan. Dealer says dodge knows there is a problem. There has been no recall on this issue. I have talked to customer service many times and can not get a response.and, the dealer still does not know when the part will be available.

Auto began making squealing noise when steering wheel was turned. 10/10/07 dealer "performed visual inspection, found power steering fluid slightly low, topped off fluid level, inspected for leaks, no leaks found at this time". Dealers advice: keep checking power steering fluid & top off as necessary. No further explanation as to why fluid would be low was offered. 2/08 found puddle of steering fluid on drive; returned car to same dealer who now advises rack & pinion needs replacement. Auto has 42,000 miles; was purchased 01/03/07 used from same dealer w/23,500 miles.

Water leaking onto the passenger floor board and carpet of our 2006 dodge caravan and in researching regarding our situation, i found that other year models that were built had an improperly installed part in the heating and cooling system causing this matter that is apparently a manufacturer issue and other year minivans had been recalled because of the risk that a water leak in the air conditioning system could trigger the airbags, risking injury to passengers.i just want the vehicle fixed properly as we had noticed a potential issue two years after the vehicle was purchased, but at the time it wasn't leaking bad, well it has gotten worse, saturating the passenger floor, when the a/c is on and in fl we utilize the air quite a bit.please let us know where we stand, as dodge corporation is saying there's no recall on our 2006 model, but the problem is the same as what others have been reporting.

Power sliding door failure on 2006 dodge caravan. After regular use of the power sliding door feature it no longer functions correctly. It stops after opening 6-8 inches and does the same when closing. This happens every time the door is operated and is a concern to me since i have small children that could become stuck between the door. The part that has most likely failed is the wire harness assembly with breaks in the wires. I believe this repair would cost around 300 dollars.

I had purchased a 2006 dodge sxt caravan, the end of sept, 2006. In feb during the snow and ice i had notice a crack in the cowl. The ice had frozen underneath and completely damaded the cowl. The dealer failed to get back to me, after a month i called they just stated they refuse to replace this saying "it was damaged due to external force" though there was no external force? this is cheap thin flexible plastic that should have not cracked completely across this cowl, now. Please help. Any water entering on the windshield does not hold from the loose molding and broken cowl around the front windshield, this is continuing to get worse. I also have a crack in the sliding glass window left side door.

Soon after temperatures went below freezing, the blower fan stopped working in my vehicle. Therefore, sufficient heat could not be brought through vehicle to warm passengers, defrost windows, and most dangerously, keep windows from fogging up while driving. At first the dealership replaced the resistor switch - but 2 days later it happened again, today they replaced the blower motor and i have yet to see if it will continue to be a problem. They suggested a defect where moisture may be getting inside the blower motor & freezing, causing it to burn out.
