Here's a dead guy from a bad dodge caravan clockspring that you refuse to recall beyong fy2000.what is it you government galloofs do all day?new york - a famed strongman who once lifted 3,200 pounds at coney island during its heyday and was still bending quarters with his fingers at age 104 died monday after he was hit by a minivan.joe rollino was struck as he crossed a major street in brooklyn, and suffered a broken pelvis, head trauma and broken ribs. He died a few hours later at an area hospital.police said the driver was going the speed limit and had not been drinking. No criminality is suspected, but the driver was issued a summons for a defective horn.

The air bag light keeps coming on and then goes out. I believes it the same problem covered for previous year models included in the clock spring nhtsa recall 04v480000. I believe the recall should be extended to all year models since it's the same problem. It happens at various driving speeds.

Air bag light intermittently comes on while driving, dealer diagnosed problem as faulty "clockspring" in the steering wheel. This same problem existed and was under recall in previous year caravans. Called chrysler about issue and was told it was not their issue since the vehicle has 50k miles and the vehicle warranty expired at 36k. This is a safety issue since the air bag will not deploy in the event of a accident. I paid the dealer to replace the clockspring at a cost of $225.00. Since this vehicle was recalled for the same issue less than 3 years earlier i do not believe this safety issue was adaquately resolved.

2001 dodge caravanconsumer's air bag light came on and stayed on. We have had this issue for years, the dealership said it is not under warranty.consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and the clock spring was replaced. This vehicle was not included in the clock spring nhtsa recall 04v480000 due to vin.

(1) the airbag light was staying on during vehicle operation, and the horn and cruise control were also non operative. This is on our 2001 dodge caravan.we also have a 1999 dodge caravan that received a safety recall (notification code d17) for the exact same problem, only it covered 1998-2000 for the recall of clocksprings.our 2001 dodge caravan had the same symptoms as the recall for the 1998-2000 dodge caravans, but was not covered, since it is a 2001.since the same part is failing on the 2001 models, i believe the same defective part is being used on the 2001 model dodge caravans.(2) airbag, horn, and cruise control were inoperative(3) dealer replaced the clockspring, which is the same defective part covered under a recall of the 1998-2000 models of dodge caravans, which was notification code d17. This was done at our expense, and i feel that there are many other owners out there having the same defective clocksprings replaced on their 2001 (and even later) models of dodge caravan.

The contact owns a 2001 dodge caravan. The contact stated that while starting the ignition, the air bag warning indicator continuously illuminated. Intermittentlysrs impact sensor light will illuminate while driving.dealer has informed consumer that whensensor light is illuminated while drivingsrs system is inoperable. Consumer states that the problem was resolved by another dealer.

Driver's side air bag, the horn and the cruise control do not work.it is quite obvious that these defects are caused by a defective clock spring.this was a matter of recall for the dodge caravan and grand caravan, plymouth voyager and grand voyager and chrysler town and country from the 1996-2000 model years.our car is 2001 model and is not in a recall list, but it is quite obvious to me that the defect was not fixed in 2001 year models.am i alone complaining about this unfixed problem?[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The clock spring has been replaced three times onjune 27 2002,september 2003 , and january 3, 2007.the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure.also, the contactstated that linkage on the front sway barwas replaced three times. The air bag warning light will not go out.took it to ramey, an authorized dealer, they said safe to drive, but they did not fix it, the light still stayson.i am concerned that accidental deployment of air bag or failure of air bag.no confidence in the operation of the air bag.

Please note that repairs were done by patalano chrysler in franklin ma. 508-520-1550 -got a good deal at motorquest which is far from my home....my car has been in three times to solve the problem of the airbag light not going out after a few moments....the first repair, which only worked for a few miles was to the "wiring" and the last two repairs have been to replace a "clockspring" in the steering column i believe....my concern is that if i try to keep this vehicle i will have to replace (at approx. $300 a pop) the clockspring every 8000 miles or so. I wanted you to be aware in case this is a manufaturer's defect, as opposed to a bit of bad luck on my part.

After reading that chrysler to recall 955,000 minivans from 1998 - 2000, the 2001 dodge caravan i own has the same problem. The air bag light will some times be on, sometimes off.it's off for weeks then it will be on for a day or two. I think this safety issue involves more than the listed model years.

When driving air bag light illuminated and stayed on the remainder of the time the vehicle was being operated.

The contact owns a 2001 dodge caravan.while driving at an unknown speed, the contact noticed that the air bag indicator was illuminated.through research, he found information stating that the illumination could result in the driver's side air bag becoming disabled due to failure of the clockspring bag.the clockspring bag was repaired on april 21, 2003.the contact is in the process of taking the vehicle to the dealer for inspection per the manufacturer's advice.the manufacturer stated that there was no recall on the air bag system in the vehicle.the contact was informed that there was a current recall regarding the clockspring bag; however, his vin was not included in the recall.the contact would not receive reimbursement for the repair.the failure mileage was 64,000 and current mileage was 65,000.

Air bag ready light remains on at all times the vehicles is operated. Dealer state defective clock spring this part is not available on back order no delivery date known.

Intermittent failure of the driver side air bag while driving. Mainly occurs during right turning events. Light will illuminate (air bag) during a right turn event. When vehicle is driven straight ahead, the light will reset.this has occurred numerous times during my ownership, and does not seem to be weather related.

Mr.gerald lotto is an attorney on behalf of sherri capone stating that air bags did not deploy during a collision.there was damage to the front of the vehicle and ms. Capone sustained extensive facial injuries.

Driver's air bag warning light comes on.when this happens the horn will not operate.the problem sometimes goes away when the steering wheel isturned.my concern is that the air bag may not deploy if i were in an accident.also, the horn may not work when neededi.e. If a child runs out in frontof my van.this is an unsafe condition.

We own a 2001 dodge caravan. The air bag warning light alerted us to a problem. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a failure of the clockspring. A recall was recently issued for clockspring failures on the 1999 and 2000 caravans. The dealer, for a cost of $255.48, replaced the part. Apparently the problem was not resolved on the 2001 models. I believe the potential problem exists and should be addressed.

While driving about 30 mphanother vehicle was stoppingat a red light, consumer could not stopvehicle on time and crash intorear of other vehicle. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy.please provide more information.

Since buying the van in 2001 we had the same problem that has not been fixed, the warning airbag light is always on, we took it in at least 7 times and nothing has been resolved. The last time in september 2004 i took it again, and ask them what would happen if i got into a accident, they told me with a sarcastic tone, not to worry it just wont go off! i guess that my wellbeing is not in cosideration! we have contacted the daimlerchrysler corporation and they are not willing to work with us for all of our troubles.

Since late spring 2008, the headlights on my 2001 dodge caravan have intermittently flickered and gone out, then come back on.this continued off and on until i had the vehicle repaired at a vehicle electrical system expert (enormis, erie pa) in july of 2009. They replaced the fuse box for the vehicle at a cost of approx $430.they indicated that they have had to do this with approx. Six other vehicles recently.this was an extremely dangerous situation, having your headlights go out at night on an interstate highway while traveling 60 mph, especially while it is raining.i have the original part:there should be a recall of these vehicles and i want to be re-imbursed!!! i am an attorney and know a dangerous defect when i see one!!!!

Vehicle experienceselectrical problems. When the vehicle is parked for more than 8 hours the battery dies. Also, some of the lights will come on, and some won't. Ownercontacted the dealer, and was told that it will cost $90.00 just to have the vehicle looked at.consumer stated that the electrical problems started with the radio, then escalated with the head lights turning on then off while driving.dealership refuses to inspect van under the recall relating to this problem.

Was coming home when i smelt a burning smell. I pulled over to see what it was and could not find anything wrong, but still smelt the smell. I turned back on the car to pull over more in the light to see what was going on (it was dark). When i turned back on the car nothing on the dashboard worked, no blinkers, no temp gauge, no gas gauge, no rpm, no speedometer. About three hours later, still at the gas station i decided to press the trip button and everything came back on but my door ajar button flashes on and off including the lights that come one when the door opens, with the dinging and the locks go crazy. Needless to say, no i did not drive it because i thought for sure it would catch fire. But it seems that this problem has occured to several people they have just failed to report it so it has not been recalled! i had all my 5 children with me, i thank god we were able to stay safe. I local dealer has looked at it and says it is the intrument cluster. The intrument cluster has melted and that is why i was smelling a burn smell.

2001 - dodge caravan - failure of heater system after dash pulled for a/c repair.

2001 - dodge caravan - left rear tail light fell out, hanging on by wires.took to private mechanic, said dealer had to fix.took to dealer, stated could not reinstall, needed whole new unit for dry rotted rubber gasket.took vehicle to home depot, bought 1 tube of black exterior silicone caulk.drove vehicle home, and cleaned area around rear tail light.pushed light back into place and caulked around dry rotted rubber.taped tail light to body assembly (be careful to use tape which will not damage vehicle).left vehicle to sit still for 24 hours as caulk dried.made this simple repair myself for $2.86 when the dealer wanted over $500 to repair.what a rip off when they can't even make a vehicle that lasts, they have to price gouge their customers.

Headlights and dashboard dies, intermittent.the problem show when i used the turn signal, the dashboard dies entirely and the headlights goes off, it happens every 2 or 3 days, after a few minutes they worked again. It happens to me more than 10 times. I solder the terminals at the electrical box that according to the electrical diagram feed the turn signal, dashboard and headlights in the engine compartment 2 years ago, since then the problem has not occurred any more.

2001 dodge caravan - a/c system & dash/electrical instrument panel and lights - had vehicle for only a couple of weeks, total failure of a/c system.dealer replaced system.system worked approximately three (3) years, then had another total failure of system, along with fan speed switch no longer working medium and high speeds.vehicle past warranty so had private mechanic replace evaporator.had to pull dash out to replace evaporator, as no access to make repair under hood, cost of $1,500 due to labor intensive pulling dash for a/c repair.after dash pulled out and reinstalled, dash lights went out a few days after a/c repair.took vehicle back to private mechanic, stated instrument panel components were falling off, paper/adhesive adhering components to dash dry rotted and no longer sticking.needed new panel at cost of $1,000.these items were repaired in summer months.in winter, discovered heater did not work.haven't repaired that yet.

2 day's ago my radio/cd player stopped worked.the power is constantly, it is showing the last radio station that was on and thedisplay also shows disk song 7. Nothing happens when you push the power button. Then today when i put my 4 ways on the rear wiper started going and then stuck in the middle of the window. Now it will not work at all along with the fluid dispenser.i checked the fuses and they all appear to be ok can't tell with the solid black ones though.any advise would be greatly appreciated.

The contact owns a 2001 dodge caravan. When she started the vehicle it began to shake uncontrollably and responded as if it would stall. The vehicle was driven to the dealer who stated thatthe body control module failed and needed to be replaced at the owners expense for $1000. The dealer will also perform diagnostic testing in order to determine additional failures that could have caused the control module to fail. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure and current mileage was 85,000.

Intermittent failure of the driver side air bag while driving. Mainly occurs during right turning events. Light will illuminate (air bag) during a right turn event. Dt*: the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, there was a loud noise coming from the front of the vehicle.the transmission then locked up, not allowing the contact to change gears.the vehicle was taken to a private repair shop, where it was determined that the cause of the problem was due to electrical failure within the vehicle.updated 8/16/2006 -

There is a malfunction within the computer chip that has caused the vehicle to stall when the vehicle is driven at any speeds of 45 mph or greater.

Daylight running lights are out on passenger side and headlights are out on the driver side.problem is power distribution block.dealer states not safety issue and not warranty due to 1 year after 3 year warranty expired.

I have a 2001 dodge caravan se.began to have malfunctions with both front windows in 2004.i had this repaired along with some other maintenance in july of this year. This year in sept the instrument panel flatlined as well as the turn signals.this results in loss of fuel gauge, speedometer, rpm, odometer, temp gauge and turning signals.they would occasionally begin to function again but have only done this once or twice over the last 2 months.the dealer recommends replacing the entire instrument cluster at a cost of over $900.

I bought a brand new 2001 dodge caravan se and had engine & electrical problems.just a few months later, while driving over the bridge out of new york city, the car filled up with white smoke of a really toxic smell. Greenish brown fluid leaked out at my feet.several times i went to have it fixed, all the fluids would leak out of the bottom of the car, i would take it back to only have it happen again. Finally they clamped a hose underneath the car causing fluids to swish back and forth in the dash area shorting out the electrical system and my lights would flash on and off. (very dangerous vehicle with children). Went through the lemon law unit with a judge that did not usually work in that court, and lost the case after paying a lawyer $2000. That went out on disability!i had no justice and stopped paying on the car.it was repossesed and someone else is probably driving around with this car!

The vehicle was registering multiple codes in the odbii system.of which one was a open injector circuit.vehicle would stall and run rough.on further investigation the fuel injector wiring harness that was routed directly above exhaust manifold had the insulation melted causing multiple fuel and emission control wires to be shorted.a search for the fuel wiring harness at multiple salvage yards showed the exact same condition to exist on 4 of 5 vehicles. One can speculate the routing of the harness over the exhaust manifold combined with substandard wire insulation caused the insulation to melt.

2001 - dodge caravan - failure of heater system after dash pulled for a/c repair.

2001 dodge grand caravan experiencing problems with the air conditioner compressor. *mr when either the defrost or a/c was turned on, a very loud grinding noise would be present along with a burning rubber smell.the a/c compressor malfunctioned as a result of an internal seizure causing shards of metal to go through the dryer and lines.the consumer requested reimbursement of the repair. *sc

The consumer received an extended warranty letter from chrysler stating that the air condition compressor was bad and may need repair. The instructions stated to do nothing unless repair was needed.the offer was good through 70000 miles.the consumer's a/c compressor went out at 76000 miles.the consumer believes her vehicle's a/c compressor should be replaced under the warranty although the vehicle was over the mileage stated in the warranty.

Dt:the contactreceived a recall letter a couple of months ago concerningair conditioner (a/c)ducts that may drip moisture into the radio and may lead to a fire/ short circuit which may cause a fire. The contactstated when she bought the car she had a different radio installed in the car other than the one that was in the car because she wanted a cd . The salesman told her to go somewhere else and purchase another radio.she wanted to purchase another radio from chrysler, but the salesperson advised her it would be cheaper to go elsewhere to purchase the radio. She did what the salesperson told her to do.the service dealer and chrysler have told the contact that they will not look at it or fix the recall because there was no chrysler radio in the car. She believed the problem was with the a/c in the car notthe radio. She took the car to dealerprior to receiving the recall they told her then there was a recall about the a/c,but they could not fix it because she had anafter market radio in the car. On 8-15-05she took the car to dealer again and brought recall letter.this was when they told her again they would not fix the recall because she had the after market radio in the car.

When driving at highway speeds vehicle will wander to the right.dealer has seen vehicle 6 or 7 times, and has tried to alignvehicle andtires. Afterdealer fixedvehicle, it would pull to opposite direction.consumer has filed for arbitration.manufacturer notified.there is rear bumper damage.the rear door is inoperative when using remote or interior button.left sliding door rattle when driving over 40 mph.dealer replaced sliding door panel molding and clips that were broken.dash rattle in front driver area over 40.dealer could not duplicate.passenger floor gets wet from extended drive with a/c on.dealer cleaned drain with compressed air.

Dt: receivedrecall 04v531000at the beginning of the year, and could not get the recall work done on2001 dodge caravan.took it to a dealer to have it repaired, and they said theycould not do itbecause they did not have the part.the consumer called chrysler and they had no service in spanish. The door actuator was replaced.

I was changing the station on the radio when the component started flashing. It seemed like it was scanning through the stations. Then the radio just went blank.

The contact owns a 2001 dodge caravan. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the headlights failed and an unknown light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed the front modular needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 170,000. The vin was unavailable.

2001 dodge caravan headlights, replaced left headlight, week later turned on van and one daylight light came on, turned on headlights and the opposite low beam came on, switched to high beam and the opposite high beam came on. I have noticed flickering lights in the past both inside and outside. Does someone have to die and have a family member sue before problem is fixed?

Headlights alternate operation. When vehicle is turned on only the left headlight operates as a daytime running light. When the light switch is turned on only the right headlight operates. Then when the high beam is activated, only the left high beam comes on.

The contact owns a 2001 dodge grand caravan sport.the contact noticed that while driving at any speed in wet weather conditions, the headlights shut off, the warning lights illuminated, and the all of the gauges display zero. The dealer performed a diagnostic test and replaced the body control module. The contact did not inform the manufacturer. The current mileage was 151,000.the failure mileage was approximately 114,000.

My headlights would not work together. The left one only would work on high beam and the right one only worked on low beam. I found the connector between the front control module and the fuse box to be corroded. I made a temporary fix by cleaning up the connection. I've read on the internet that many people with 2001 and 2002 dodge caravans are experiencing the same problem. I know that the nhtsa had investigated this issue in 2006 and i believe that this issue warrants further action by you.

The headlights on my van stopped working due to a problem with a wiring connector by the fuse box. I'm not a mechanic so i can't really explain it better than that. I did some research online and found this is very common in dodge caravans and i feel like something should be done to resolve it before someone driving at night on a dark road loses their lights and gets in an accident.

Headlights flickering on and off.suspended night driving immediately.while investigating the problem on the internet, we discovered an ongoing investigation by nhtsa.due to the seriousness of this safety issue, we've decided to register this complaint in hopes that an expert engineer, either from nhtsa or chrysler, will have an unadulterated example of the problem to study.worthy of mention: we have just relocated from wisconsin to tennessee and consider the possibility of that being a factor in the failure.

2001 caravan headlight problem. Faulty fcm (bad connections)this is a very serious problem that seems to be getting ignored by everyone especially chrysler. This issue needs to be put on the front burner before someone gets seriously hurt or killed in a crash. Headlights going out in the middle of the nite on the highway going 60 mph is dangerous. Please look into a recall on these vehicles. The fcm connections are faulty. Multiple people and mechanics have discovered where the problem is and has fixed them by readjusting connecter pins or tabs in the connection and this has corrected the problem. Even canada knows of the problem. Also these people have been getting soaked 1000s of $$$ in repairs (chrysler) leading to the same problem coming back. Please lookup google( 2001 dodge headlight problems) this topic is heavily talked about on the topix.com site easiest way to find this forum is to google this phrase (2001 dodge headlight problem). 186 posts about this problem in since 2006. Hard to find through the site.please try to find a way to address this problem. Thank you for taking the time to read about this issue. Please e-mail me on what can be done in the future. Thank you.

Headlamp/parking light failure - parking light was out and car needed inspection for mass. Brought car in for service and all the garages are telling me it's going to cost between $500-$700 for fix a $1.50 part. The light was new and the directional worked. Later on as i was seeking more info and help the headlamp went on the passenger side. The high beam could be put on but would turn off the drivers side headlamp/high beam. Parking light on drivers side would remain on and directional worked.

For a variety of reasons i have had no occasion to drive the car at night in rain using full wipers until aug. 28, 2002.at that time i discoveredthat the low beams provided no illumination in the rain and i had to use high beams.on sept. 5, i discussed the rpoblem with dealer service personnel and was advised it was a common problem and i should go to western auto and get them to install "blue" bulbs.these would help.the same day i called chrysler customer service and was informed that they would do nothing because the lights meet "specifications".maybe so, but they are inadequate and this should be investigated.in the meantime i am having "blue" bulbs installed so i can see where i cam going in the rain at night.ipers until aug. 28, 2002.the low beams provided essentially no lighting so that i had to use the high beams to see where i was going.i went to the dealer on sept. 5 to complain and was advised to go to western auto and get "blue" bulbs which is what others with the same prpoblem have been doing.i called chrysler customer service the same day and was informed that they would do nothing as the lights meet "specifications".

The incident date that is on here isn't the first time this has happened, this has been going on for somtime now. I am having problems with my headlights going off while i am driving, always seems to be in lowbeam. It is at the dealer now and this is the 4rth time, they don't seem to have a clue how to fix it.

The contact owns a 2001 dodge caravan sport. The contact was driving approximately between 35-40 mph on normal road conditions with the headlights in activation. Suddenly, the headlights became inoperable without warning. The driver experienced limited visibility and continued in operation with the emergency flasher engaged.the failure occurred intermittent.the manufacturer was notified of the malfunction. The vehicle has not been repaired at this time. The failure mileage was 54,000.

Dt:2001 dodge caravan.the consumer states the headlights flicker on and off while driving on the road.also, the lights willgo on and off without the keyinignition switch.the vehicle was taken to the dealership and the front control module was replaced.this was approximately a year ago.this recurred within the last two months.they do not always come back on.the vehicle has been taken to three different dealerships, and theycould not duplicate the problem.this happens whether the lights are on or off.

Dt:the caller complained about electrical system problem.he states thatheadlights will turn off at night without warning.the windshield wipers will shut off as well. Sometimes the headlights and windshield wipers will come back on, and sometimes they won't come on at all. Also, the horn blows, and the dashboardlights will be on, and the automatic headlights will not shut off when the vehicle is turned off. Dealer said they do not know what the problem is. Another dealer replaced the body control module. Manufacturer said to continue to work with dealer.

Dt: the contact complained aboutheadlight problems. The headlights flickered on and off. The road conditions did not appear to make a difference. The vehicle has been seen by the dealer. Who stated thatthe reflector in the driver's side headlight was loose, causing the headlights to work intermittently.

While driving the headlights flickered.both headlights went off completely while the dealer technician was test driving.the dealer cannot remedy the problem.

The contact owns a 2001 dodge caravan. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, the headlights began to flash, the horn would sound and the hazard lights would also flash on and off. The failure also occurred when the vehicle was parked with the engine turned off. The contact had to disconnect the battery to prevent the failure from recurring. The contact spoke with anauthorized dealer who stated that they were aware of the failure but there were no recalls. The dealer also stated that the hot body controller and front body modulator had to be repaired at the owners expense. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000. The current mileage was 134,893.updated 07/22/10updated 07/27/10

Daylight running lights are out on passenger side and headlights are out on the driver side.problem is power distribution block.dealer states not safety issue and not warranty due to 1 year after 3 year warranty expired.

Headlights on my 2001 dodge caravan van will turn off while driving the vehicle.there is nothing that proceeds this action and it causes great concern due to limited and/or complete loss of light to safely drive the vehicle.the headlights will suddenly come back on with no action on my part.the time it takes for the headlights to come back on varies.this defect needs immediate attention!

We have a 2001 dodge caravan and recently, within the last 12 to 6 months, the headlights have switched on and off. It's been very random until the last month, where they have completely shut off after flickering on and off and the dashboard lights lighting up and going dim. This has happened at night several times and during the day. We took the van to dicks country dodge to have it inspected and were told the headlight switch was faulty and needed to be replaced. However, we were told that there is no manufacture of this switch and there is no estimated time to expect this switch to be replaced. We were told today, 12/10/04, that there are over 60 requests nationwide for this switch and no estimated time of replacement as no one is making these switches. We are unable to drive our van during the hours of 4:30 pm until 7 a.m because we do not know if the headlights will stay on or not. I drove today and made it 10 miles before the lights flashed and went out. This is not a light bulb issue, it's a switch that can't be fixed.we are beyond frustrated with this situation as the van is our major family vehicle and it's almost impossible to get two car seats and two adults in our other vehicle. We feel an investigation should be made into why these switches are not available for replacement, essentially rendering a vehicle useless in dark conditions. In the meantime, we will probably have to rent a vehicle for a return from the airport at night as we cannot rely on our van to get us safely home without dependable headlights.

Dt*:the contact stated there was a banging noise coming from the rear end of the vehicle.the vehicle was pulled over and the contact noticed the driver side taillight assembly had came loose and was hanging by the wiring harness.this caused minor damage to the body of the vehicle.the dealership determined the taillight assembly needs to be replaced.the manufacturer has been alerted.

Correction/addition to complaint 10153230.at the request of dodge customer assistance, owner took vehicle to dealership for diagnosis of why taillight assembly disconnected from vehicle.both dodge customer assistance and local dealer stated repeatedly that there were no service bulletins on this issue.customer showed dealer service manager that the other taillight assembly could be detached from body with fingertip.after follow-up with dodge customer assistance, customer was denied replacement.subsequently, customer performed own due diligence and found that a technical service bulletin was issued for this loose tail lamp problem in september 2001 for all 2001 and early 2002 dodge caravans.same bulletin details simple actions necessary to correct by placement of j-clip to the leading edge mounting tab of the taillight assembly (dodge technical service bulletin 08-021-01).taillight assembly has since been re-engineered and mounting tab has been extended.both local dealer and dodge customer assistance acknowledged that this service bulletin existed after customer argued it's existence, but still denied replacement.any owner of 2001 or early 2002 dodge caravans should immediately inspect their vehicles prior to failure during operation, possible taillight assembly detaching into traffic, damage to vehicle, and operator having to detach failed assembly at roadside at risk of interstate traffic like myself.

Our dodge caravan sport has been well maintained and we've had it for 3 years and has only 35,000 miles on it. This started happening after the 30,000 mile mark. We have 2 small children andwe have been very lucky that nothing has happened. We liked the caravan because we did not hear bad things about it. But now we experienced these things and we are not alone makes me re-think of not getting a caravan again or recommending it to people. We've run into the following problems:first item is the power door lock on the sliding door. While on the freeway, the lock would unlock and lock.second item is the power windows on the front passenger side. I've read others who complained about it. The power window does not go up after it has gone down. An effort to giggle it up is the trick. Now it just doesn't roll up or down.third item is the power steering. We have a family friend who also had this problem. The power steering is making clicking noise and while parking it has a loud agonizing hum. Fourth item the turn signals does not turn off automatically once the turn has been made. Taking it to the dealership, see if they have some answers.

The new vehicle suddenly lost all power and there was a smell of gasoline, it was found that gasoline was leaking from the engine area. The consumer states that recall on design defect similar to what he experienced was being issued.

The contact owns a 2001 dodge caravan.the service dealer informed the contact of an evaporation leak at the filler neck that needed to be replaced.the contact believes that this is a safety issue that needs to be recalled.the current and failure mileages were 44,325.the consumer stated was informed by dealer that over 300 customers needed the same part. The consumer stated was finally able to have the part replaced on 07/27/07. Updated 09/05/07

Got check engine light, told we had bad gas cap, replaced and reset code, check engine light came on again, took to repair shop, found cracked filler neck tube, filler neck tube unavailable from mfg.

Consumer states vehicle is experiencing a gas leak.

2001 dodge caravan - private mechanic replaced fuel filter, had to drop gas tank to do so as that is only access.this resulted in total disconnect from fuel neck filler line, etc.after replacement and reinstall of gas tank, engine light comes on.mechanic tried to fix, replaced gas cap.cannot get light to go off.will have to drop gas tank again in future for repair.no other codes coming up for engine light.reason:compression leak in fuel line, system.

Thank you.

The institute for highway safety (iihs) gave the 2001 dodge caravan a "poor" rating because of leaking fuel during a crash test.the president of the iihs, brian o'neill said that any fuel leak can be a serious problem because of the threat of fire.daimler chrysler says the leaks are freak occurrences, but has redisgned the fuel systems for the 2002 models.if it is not a danger, why redesign it?they are refusing a recall of what could be a potentially life threatening problem and this is outrageous.a recall is absolutely necessary for the safety of my children riding in the back of the minivan and for the safety of all families.daimler chrysler's innaction is irresponsible and shows contempt for its customers.

The dashboard illuminated. Tookvehicle to the dealer, and was told the fuel system had a leak. Also, air was getting into the system. Found that the fuel filler neck had to be replaced because it was corroded.

Had have gas tube replaced because of corrosion.

I driving down street my van just die on me in middle of traffic. I try to give gas and it die on me again, i so scared . I have my kids in my van. Updated 12/5/2014

I need to know it my vehicle has any recalls i'm having some major safety concerns about it.

Fuel rail is leaking gasoline.there is a pressure damper that is on the rail that is non serviceable and it is leaking fuel onto rail that is causing the smell to enter the cabin.dealer says fuel rail needs to be replaced to effect proper repair.fuel leaks any time engine is running.

I have filed several complaints on this car since buying in 2001 this latest one is the heat control knob in the dash has frozen dealer says broken and would cost 400 to fix, at that price it shouldn't break at all!car now has 50000 miles. This is the same car that within the first 72 hours and 200 miles the transmission went out. Tie rod ends were replaced 2 or 3 times at 20000 and 36700 miles motor on window also replaced carpet replaced because water seeping in car i am afraid of this car.

My dimmer switch has not been functioning since 10/31/04.i am not able to see anything on the dashboard when driving at night.this makes it very hard to drive at night.rather dangerous.chrysler is stating that they have no idea when the part will be available.as it sounds to me the part is not even being manufactured at this time.

2001 dodge gr caravan has had a problem with the power sliding doors& power liftgate from the very first day i purchased it.both powered doors & power lift gate will either not open or make the noise of trying to open when using either the keyless remote, inside remotes or my opening & closing manually.sometimes the doors & liftgate will also kickback as if something is obstructing the pathway.this also ocurrs when using the keyless remote or inside remote buttons. I first learned about a preliminary investigation regarding doors & liftgate opening without warning from my local news station back in december of 2004.i had previously brought my van to the dealership regarding this problem but since they could never duplicate the problem they informed me they could not fix my van.i was finally able to show the dealership the problem when i brought my car in for service back in january 2005.the dealership informed me that there was no recall or investigation but was able to determine that the problem was caused by dtc incomplete power open latch failure, incomplete latch release paw sw failure.i have actual service notation of what the dealership determined to be the problem & how to fix it.the dealership allowed a goodwill service on one door & the power liftgate.they would not & could not fix the other door because they once again could not duplicate the problem although they were able to determine the problem on the other door & liftgate because the problem was duplicated in front of their eyes.i continue to have a problem with the one power door that they were not able to determine to have a problem.i understand there was some preliminary evaluations being done (pe04-054).has anything been resolved?i would also like to have my information & complaint noted.please note that the number of ocurrances is even high than noted from below because of the age of the car.thank you.

The two sliding doors and the rear back door would not open with remote. The problem is still occurring, not fixed.

The door actuator was replaced.

The contact owns a 2001 dodge caravan.the locks would lock and unlock intermittently on their own.the locks would also make an unfamiliar noise.the dealer stated that the front driver side, rear hatch, and passenger side sliding door needed a latch component.the manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 01i003000 (latches/locks/linkages:doors:latch).the current and failure mileages were 72,786.

The contact owns a 2001 dodge caravan sport. The contact was driving 40 mph when the driver side sliding door failed to lock. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was contacted and they confirmed the vin failed to qualify for repairs under nhtsa campaign id number: 01i003000(latches/locks/linkages:doors:latch). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 123,000 and the current mileage was 124,000.

This vehicle has been to the dealer on numerous occasion and this problem has not been resolved at this time.the consumer informed the dealer that the rear side door handles will not release on its own.the driver can not open or close the doors at all.the door handles has been replaced more than once. The mechanic informed the driver that this problem is a manufacturer's problem.please provide additional information.

While driving down the road back sliding door popped open while consumers child was sitting inback seat. Contacted dealer, and dealerwas taking a look at the vehicle. There was recall onvehicleforsame problem, 01-i-003-000.

The air conditioning system worked fine until i drove the van home after the plaza dodge of holiday replaced the serp belt.approximately one week after the van was serviced which also included a transmission flush, the transmission had a total failure.the engine runs but the van will not move.

My 2001 dodge caravan se has transmission problems at 35,000 miles.the van stop on the freeway for no reason at all. The dealer fix it and 2 weeks after that the car will not shift form 2nd gear. And the gauges didn't work at all. The engine light came on. This is my 2nd dodge caravan minivan and the last one .i'll buy a honda for now on when i pay or nearly pay this one. I'm a dodge man , i have2002 pt cruiser that i had a recall already. These are the last american made car i'll purchase. I had purchase 7 new vehicles in the past 10 years(3 dodge,1 gm, 2 hondas and 1 mazda) i was very satisfied within all the japanese cars but not with the american cars.there are junk!!!!

While traveling at highway speeds transmission suddenly died without warning.driver felt lucky that vehiclemade it to the side of the road.

While driving about 35 m/p/h up small incline transmission slips to low gear and then the car stops moving forward totally.no lights light up on the dashboard. No codes are set for the mechanics to check. This happens sporadically when the engine is warm and without warning.also of note that when this happens the gears are lit on the dash but none are highlighted so the car appears to be totally out of gear.i have been so very lucky-it has happened 3 times and i was not rear-ended in traffic.this has always happened in the morning and always after i have driven about 10 miles and about one half hour to 1 hour.

While driving transmission failed. Vehicle will not go into drive or reverse. Consumer contacted the dodge manufacturer. However, the problem recurred.

Vehicle slams into second gear while driving at any speed causing car to nose dive and almost causing it to be rear ended. Incident occurred 10/15/02, 10/26/02, 11/23/02 and 04/29/03. Vehicle is currently at dealer after having been "fixed" three times before this. *nlm

While driving on the highway our 2001 dodge caravan's transmission completely failed and was not drivable.the engine would rev but the transmission would not engage or shift.the van was towed to the dealer.the van's transmission needed to be rebuilt or a remanufactured transmission installed at a cost of $2000-$3000.the manufacturer would not provide any assistance since the van had 47,000 miles.the warranty expired at 36,000. Recognizing the problems with their transmission, the manufacturer extended the powertrain warranty the next model year to 7 year/70,000 miles. *la

On the below date i was driving on a mountainous curvy road when the transmission in my vehicle completely failed.luckily i was able to manuever the van to the side of the road.i then had the van towed to my mechanic who informed me that the transmission had a complete failure. The mechanic put in a new factory remanufactured transmission assembly.on may 19, 2005, less than 7000 miles later that transmission failed as well.the dodge dealer honored the warranty and "fixed" it.the day after i got the van back (today) there was a loud "clunking" noise and the check engine light came on.i was able to drive the vanback to the dealer.the van has a total of 59,000 miles on it.i have records of all service done to the vehicle.

Design of controls:the transmission shift lever in any position lower than d blocks the driver's knee when moving from accelerator to brake.this is a significant safety issue, especially when using low ranges in descending a grade.there seems to be no physical reason not to have angled the transmission lever higher to leave clearance.the effect of this poor design is that one does not use engine braking on a grade, increasing the possibility of brake failure.

Was in memphis when my caravan broke down, so my husband in wv went to buchannon auto mall to get a new safer car for trips to memphis for our daughters cancer treatments. There has not been a failure yet but according to tests the gen 3 seat belt will fail in a crash, i want these replaced with a gen 4 seat belt.

I saw the report on primetime about the failure of the gen3 seatbelts.when i called daimlerchrysler and requested a replacement, i was told that i can not get them replaced.i insist that they be replaced!!!they are unsafe and they are in the seat that my 2 small children sit in at all times.

On at least 2 occasions the middle left seatbelt of my dodge caravan has unfastened.i didn't have any explanation at the time and assumed it must have accidentally been hit.it restrains my child's safety seat, which i believe is properly installed.after viewing a report on primetime on abc, i was made aware that my van has seatbelts in the middle and back seats that are being questioned for possible failure.i believe that i may have experienced the locks being released due to sensitivity.

When applying brakes child safetyseat went forwarddue togen-3 seatbelt coming unlatching by itself. Dealer contacted.please add vin.

Seat frame on driver's seat broke. Dealr states that it is not under warranty. It would be $1,200 to replace. I feel that the metal frame should not have broken since this car has not been involved in any accidents and there is no reason the frame should have broken.

The driver seat reclinedwhile driving 30-35 mph. The consumer was able to lift up without being involved in a vehicle crash. The consumer noticed that the seat was broken at the weld. The vehicle has not been inspected at this time.

In the 3rd row of seats in my 2001 dodge minivan, a passenger left the seatback in a semi-reclined position.i leaned in to release the seatback to full upright.when i engaged the release, the seatback snapped forwardwith great speed and force all the way down until it rested on the seat.in its path downward, it failed to stop in the upright position.the top of the seat struck full in my face, breaking my glasses, causing a bruise and abrasion to my nose.in subsequent tests, the seatback always failed to stop in the upright position.*la

While applying the brakes there was a clanking noise.the brake pads/calipers, and rotors were replaced.the noise problem was on going and was only present upon the application of the brake from low speed, but currently it only happens from low speed, but present at almost every brake application.two separate mechanics stated that they could not identify the problem.the noise was a combination of clanking and grinding. *sc

Landmark dodge realigned the front end and replaced both calipers during a three month timespan. This did not eleminate the problem. I contacted the manufacture, and was asked to take the vehicle to champion crysler for a second opinion. I did this. They told me that the alignment was way out of specfications for this vehicle and they reset it to sepcs. I then was asked to test the vehicle to see if they had made a change. I did this. While testing the vehicle a large ford pickup pulled out in front of my wife. She hit the brakes and the wheels locked and our vehicle made a 90 degree right turn without her even turning the steering wheel. At this point i returned the vehicle to champion crysler and refused to drive it any longer. My family's safety is more important to me than to let them ride in this defective vehicle.

While driving 65 mph, a clicking noise was heard from the rear of the vehicle. When the driver applied the brakes the noise stopped.while accelerating the noise continued.the driver drove the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic informed the consumer, both rear calipers needed to be replaced due to cracks.please fill in additional information.

Brake pulsation: at 9k miles front rotors were replaced by dealer, at 18k miles pulsation returned. While brakes are pulsating braking performance is degraded. I took the vehicle to the dealer at 18,470 miles and they said it is "safe to drive". They gave me the vehicle to drive without repairing it.

Aug. 20, 2007 - steering has been locking up daily, for the past year on my 2001 dodge caravan. It is obviously a serious and constant problem with these vehicles. I have had the issue looked at by various mechanics and none can identify the problem for sure. They all say that it is happening too often - it's very dangerous but they can only 'try changing the rack or power steering pump or flushing the fluid....' no guarantee that it will fix the problem. Chrysler has been very negligent with this issue. I encourage everyone to vote with their feet and go elsewhere when purchasing your next vehicle - not chrysler.

The instrument panel lights on the vehicle has decreased in brightness.the problem is noticeable at night.there is a resistance when turning the wheel and when backing.the rubber gaskets continue to fall from the sliding passenger door on the drivers side.the vehicle has taken a long time to warm up in cold weather.the alternator was replaced.scc

While driving engine and air bag lights came on,gauges started acting up, and headlights started flashing. Consumer lost all power. Also, had no brakes, and steering wheel locked up. Heard a popping noise under hood.

Steering wheel locks especially during extreme cold weather.mostly turning to left.this is an every day event for me.the dealer said that he can first try resovoir and flush which is $350, but he can't guarantee this will help.if it doesn't help then he will try a new pump which is $800 and something else which is $400.ultimately, i will be spending up to $1550 for repairs that may or may not work.

I have a 2001 dodge caravan. First noticed (a few months ago) the cruise control did not work; then the horn would work intermittently. Now, the horn does not work at all. Had the dealer troubleshoot and they said the clockspring is faulty and needs to be replaced. I noticed that there had been a recall to replace clocksprings in caravans up toyear 2000. I ordered my caravan in november, 2000 and received it january, 2001.

While turning the steering column locked up.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Driving vehicle in parking lot of church. Power steering failed, causing potential accident if not stopped in time. Personally checked out power steering unit for leaks (non), checked out power steering reservoir for possibility of needing to be filled(n/a). Power steering began to operate normally again. Took vehicle in for inspection of front end knock.was informed by dealership that the power steering went out during their inspection. I was informed by the dealership that this was caused by a gear that had worn. I asked how that could be and issue and if this was a defect? they stated no. I asked for assistance in the cost of repair due to this being a possible safety defect, and was refused this assistance due there not being a recall on this particular steering component. The first occurrence of the problem was thursday 10/20/05. After this, the vehicle operated fine. We took the vehicle in for service on monday evening to be serviced tuesday morning 10/25/05. We were informed of the defect on tuesday morning that the steering gear was bad, and informed that this would cost well over 1000.00 dollars to repair.this vehicle has approx. 67,000 miles, and an immaculate service record to which i have paid dearly to keep the vehicle up. I believe the suddenness of the occurrence of this defect is one to be concerned with, and should seriously be reviewed, by the chrysler corp. If negotiating a turn on the freeway system of any city in the us, and having this gear fail; it could cause serious injury to not only the occupants of this vehicle, but other innocent motorists as well. I do plan on ridding my family of this particular vehicle, and upgrading to something possibly in a foreign make or model that's built for reliability, when you invest in the up keep. The complaint is being filed as a precautionary measure. Hopefully someone will follow up on the issue.my file number with chrysler customer support is 14199982.regardsderrick v. Stingley.

Our dodge caravan sport has been well maintained and we've had it for 3 years and has only 35,000 miles on it. This started happening after the 30,000 mile mark. We got into our 2001 dodge caravan and started to drive it and noticed that there was a rattling noise in the front passenger side of the suspension.i pulled the van over and noticed the passenger side strut was up through into the engine compartment!i believe the housing is rusted through, which allowed the strut to poke all the way out.

Severe shuttering steering wheel.

Vehicle has been serviced multiple times for repair or replacement of sway bar bushing or sway bar links dating back from 03' until present.

The vehicle began pulling to the right, the dealer performed a front end alignent but now the vehicle pulls in both directions.nlm

I recently had to take my 2001 caravan in for servicing at charapp dodge north (natrona heights, pa 15065)and i had a $100.00 deductible.the mechanic servicing my vehicle told me that i had a bad sway bar link and bushings, which required him to replace the bushing - sway eliminator and the link-sway eliminator.i feel this could not be correct as my vehicle is a 2001 and these parts should not have worn out as soon as they did.i have two friends with the same year vehicles but one is a dodge and the other is a chrysler and they are experiencing the same problem i did and we all bought our vehicle within a month and a half of each other.i feel i should not have had to pay for this repair because i believe the parts to be defective coming from the assembly line from where these vehicles were built.

The rear axels bend around back wheels also front makes a noise when you hit a bump

Vehicle vibrated while driving.

The consumer felt a vibration in the steering wheel when turning.the steering wheel also wanders while driving.the driver drove the vehicle to the dealer for inspection.the mechanic informed the consumer that the problem was not consider at safety problem with the hydraulic steering system in his vehicle.

For your readers, i had a persistent loose wheel or loose suspension phenomena in the front end. Marine chrysler vancouver who sold the car could not diagnose or repair. Deerlake chrysler burnaby discovered faulty bushings in front end replaced at 59k just under warranty coverage. Readers should ask dealer to repalce bushings if this problem persists on their car.

2001 dodge caravanconsumer's air bag light came on and stayed on. Consumer took vehicle to the dealership and was told by the mechanic that the inner sway bar bushings were worn out,and the left inner tie rod was loose. Also, rack and pinionsteering needed to be replaced.

I know about the balljoint recall from dc. I have a 2002 and already received my notice in the mail.i also have a 2001 dodge caravan that also has bad balljoints. There is no doubt in my mind, this is defective parts. Balljoints should never go bad with only50k on the unit.the problem is, you can no longer grease these parts.

Front suspension.

I recently sent this letter to chrysler in an e-mail. I am contacting this agency to see if i can get some justice.my vehicle was unsafe.however, i still do not feel that it is performing correctly.i would like assistance and direction.thanks. Recently my 2001 needed the rack and pinion, lower and upper control arm and complete front suspension repair at antwerpen dodge in randallstown, md.they really gave me a problem with the time to complete the job and they kept saying that the rack and pin was a "star part". I then took it back to the dealer, and they could not be definitive. However, there was no charge, therefore no work order.all i want is a smooth riding vehicle that's not shaking rattling and rolling down the street.i drive 50 miles one way to work and most of the drive is highway driving.you can feel every little bump.i found this article in usa today.it reads: "april 25, 2001 '' the chrysler arm of daimlerchrysler announced wednesday a voluntary recall of some new minivans, citing a possible front suspension problem. Nearly 11,000 customers are affected by the recall of the 2001 chrysler town & country, chrysler voyager, dodge caravan and dodge grand caravan minivans built between march 22 and april 21 of 2001. Owners of recalled vehicles are urged not to drive them. The automaker said a bolt on the lower control arm of the front suspension can break, resulting in a loss of vehicle control."no one mentioned that this was a recall item.so i am still trying to fix this shake rattle and roll problem.this 2001 suspension is truly junk. Now the bottom-line or should i say " bottom out" is what can i do to get a smooth ride? i have an extended warranty, but the mechanics need to know what to do and be right. This could be a fluke in the assembly line, but i doubt it.there are too many other owners with the same complaint.if you have any influence with antwerpen dodge in randallstown, md, please help me to solve this puzzle.

Steering vibration at low speeds and grinding noise from under front of vehicle.

The vehicle's right and left front sway links and stabilizer bushings had to be replaced at 56000 miles. The consumer heard a rattling noise in the front end while driving the vehicle.*tc

While driving at any speed consumer noticedsevere vibration under his feet. Vehicle had been to the dealer on several occasions. Dealer informed the consumer that this was the normal chararacteristic of that vehicle. Also, manufacturer was notified.

While driving 5-10 mph a constant rattling onfront of the vehicle due to damaged inner tie rod.mechanic replaced tie rod. However, rattling noise still occurring after the replacement ofnew tie rod .

The contact owns a 2001 dodge caravan.when starting the vehicle the airbag warning lightilluminated. The dealer informed the contact that the clock spring needed to be replaced. The clock spring has been replaced three times onjune 27 2002,september 2003 , and january 3, 2007.the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure.also, the contactstated that linkage on the front sway barwas replaced three times. Whendriving the vehicle there was a noise.the road conditionswere not a factor. The dealer stated there has been a modification to the linkage, and the vehicle was repaired.the current and failure mileage was 42,500.

When going over bumps in the road there would be a loud rattling noise coming from the front end. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. This has been a on going problem which the mfg., takes no responsibility for.they should have replaced the front end at their expense originally, while it was under warranty.had to have it replaced twice and still not fixed.install special order steering rack.

All seem to be related to a handling problem.the van/motorhome violently wanders at highway speeds, 60 + mph.it is extremly difficult to handle the vehicle.when you pay $60k plus for a vehicle, you expect a better handling vechicle than this van/motorhome.i'm very disapointed with dodge.the rear sway bar was replaced, but with no improvement in the handling.the handling is even worse when there's a slight side wind.i don't know much about the "lemon law" but if i could return the vechicle to dodge and get the purchase price back, i would do it as soon as possible.i don't know what it might take to fix the handling problem, stronger front springs, different tires, different steering box, different steering rods and arms, but something needs to get changed at dodge's expense.

At 35mph control arm snapped, causing consumer to losecontrol. . dealer notified.

Struts came undone and fell off while driving.vehicle has had continuous problems with the struts and strut mounts.dealer has serviced 8 times. Struts have to be constantly tightened every 6000-9000 miles.

Left front strut was fractured and dragging to the ground when driver was backing out of driverway.tire was making a grinding sound due to tire rubbing against it.

I own a 2001 dodge caravan sport with 39,501 miles.the wield that holds the right front strut to the steering assembly rusted and broke leaving the strut danging and useless.the dealer, mechanicsville dodge, wants $800.00 to replace both struts and repair the wield.we did nothing in our driving habits to cause this malfunction.the struts themselves are in good operating order. I feel its an obvious manufacturing defect that dodge should fix at no charge.

When vehicle hit a bump in the road itmadenoise. Took vehicle to dealer, anddealerreplaced the stabilizer bar.

Went to a tire shop for a tire problem, upon taking the front wheels off they discovered failing sway bar links.they showed me the problem by actually pulling the link apart from the sway bar by hand.as i was leaving the shop to go home one of the links disconnected and now the vehicle has a noticeable sway in tight corners. The vehicle was new in 2001 and now has 51,000 on it.i believe this is too soon for parts like this to be failing.

My mechanic had toreplace stabelizer bar bushings, stabelizer links, inner tie rods,2window motors 900.00

While driving up a driveway and making a right turn, one of the two bolts fell out of the right front wheel assembly dislodging it from the suspension frame, causing vehicle to be inoperative, dealer replaced the right sway bar link and installed a right camber bolt.

Driving in normal winter conditions, less than 2 inches of snow, not less than 20 degrees in weather, my antilock brakes froze up, causing me to spin out.luckily i did not hit anything or crash.$800 worth of damage, brake lining froze to drum. Had to replace brake pads, drums, wheel bearings in both rear wheels.

Sidewall of tire blew out for no apparent reason.the tire had less than 16,000 miles on it and was inflated per dodge's recommendation.i still have the tire and it shows no sign of a puncture in the tread.i e-mailed goodyear with a complaint but have yet to recieve a response.the dodge caravan handled very well after the blowout and was easily controlled.

While driving engine and air bag lights came on,gauges started acting up, and headlights started flashing. Consumer lost all power. Also, had no brakes, and steering wheel locked up. Heard a popping noise under hood.

The instruments are recessed too deep into the dash causing the fuel gauge and the speedometer to be in a shadow and make them hard to read especially at night, the speedometer number spacing is in twenty mile spacings requiring a person to interpret their speed.nlm

This car has been nothing but problems. First i have had it to dealer 3 times with leaks which i find is currently a recall. Then one cold winter it started to make a loud reving noise from first start starter was replaced still does it dealer claims they cannot hear it. Then i have had several belts repaced due to squealing sound upon starting the car.squealing is still there.they cannot hear it. Paint is bubbling and peeling off. Power window on drivers side works whenever it wants to. Steering has a bad whine and makes bed noises.

When starting my 2001 dodge caravan sport, the speedometer bounces around and "flips" back behind the piece that is underthe 0 mph, preventing the speedometer from working.it is an imtermittent problem that has become increasingling worse in the last 3 weeks (3 times).the first couple of times i could hit on the dash when the car was off and it would "reset" and work fine, but this does not always work so when i'm driving i can't tell how fast i'm going.no injuries or tickets yet-i haven't been able to take in to be looked at while this was occuring so i could get it fixed.i have also had problems with the driver side window (power) getting stuck down (2 times in last 3 months).i have also had a "rattleing" noise that occurs when i'm driving at a steady 45 mph under the front end.i had a dealer "fix" it under my extended warranty, but it started doing it again after about a week. I have not been able to take it back in to be looked at.

After the engine warms up and at speeds around 45-50 the acceleration sticks as if the cruise control is on. The only way to stop it is to put the car in neutral then drive,or shut the engine off.i disconnected the servo to the cruise control to eliminate the cruise as the cause. The problem is intermittent but occurs often.

Sudden acceleration.starting from a stop light, the van began accelerating without control.attempts to stop were unsuccessful.acceleration stopped as sudden as it started.car dealer said it possibly was a build up of "carbon around the airintake flap causing it to stick open".paid $160 for maintenance to clean the intake.it was a scary incident that could have resulted in an accident.

Air bag warning light is on constantly. Horn will not work .cruise control will not work.

The contact owns a 2001 dodge caravan. The contact stated the air bags warning indicator was illuminated, and the horn and cruise control became inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 176,000.

The steering was not affected .thiscaused thehorn andcruise controltomalfunction.the air baglight cameon intermittently. Contactcalled dodge and told them.he had this problem for the past week.

The contact owns a 2001 dodge caravan. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the cruise control button was inadvertently engaged due to it being to close to the horn. As a result, the contact stated that the vehicle became stuck at a certain speed, which caused him to drive above speed limits. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 195,000.

In 2006 the drivers side window stopped working. Replaced the motor.november 2008 the passenger window stopped working.will have to replace this motor as well.

Passenger window intermittently returns to shut position.if window is lowered, then it may take 1-2 days before the window will return to closed position.

2001 - dodge caravan - failure of heater system after dash pulled for a/c repair.

Front driver window stopped working.has been replaced twice and a whopping $330.00 each time.passenger window is now acting up.will roll down but not up, and sometimes won't move at all. The second time the driver side window broke, a rock from a truck ahead flew into my window and hit the back seat.inches from my eye.this vehicle has a horrible reputation of the windows motor/regulator units.

I went to the store today, driving down a busy road at about 45 mph, my drivers side vent window suddenly came loose! i looked in the rear view mirror to see what was going on, too late! it flew into opposing traffic and shattered all over the road. The glue that holds the "hinge" to the glass is barely there. Obviously, the glue did not hold to a painted surface.

When drivingconsumer smelled carbon monoxide coming in fromair vents.consumer had originally purchased a 2001, plymouth grand voyager which had the same problem.dealer noticedair conditioner filter was missing , added the filter ,and returned vehicle saying it should be fine. But, consumer was still able to smell carbon monoxide. Chrysler representative then instructed dealer to take vehicle back, and consumer picked this vehicle. Was told it had a air filtration odor particle remover as an option. Consumers wife is 6 months pregnant, and gets ill driving vehicle.

While vehicle was parked, it was still idling. Also, rear window exploded. Cause unknown.

Passenger front window after coming down will not go up.mechanic said it was the motor that need to be replaced at a cost of around $200.00 plus labor.

The power windows on the front driver and passenger doors intermittently will not go up after being powered down.you have to wiggle the window glass in order to get the window to go back up.this is "dangerous" if you get caught in a sudden thunderstorm on the highway with your windows down.it took me a while to figure out that you have to wiggle the glass in order for the window to go up.it's like the window gets off track.*la

Driver and passengerwindows do not go up ordown.consumer stated the dealer wanted too much for the repairs.

Passenger window will not work properly - sometimes goes down slowly and has to be pulled back up, sometimes won't go up at all. No parts available from manufacturer - back order of at least 2 weeks for a new window motor and relay, due to the high volume of failures!!!

The consumer stated, while driving, the driverwas unable to turnleft the steering wheel-which had locked up, almost causing an accident. Dealer contacted.mrthe consumer states that the steering pump was replaced by the dealer, but the problem is not solved.still unable to turn left-not until the vehicle is warm.the consumer is dissatisfied with the vehicle and adds that the window motors were replaced(unsure if problem), the brakes done 3 times, along with numerous steering problems.scc
