I went to turn on my rear window wiper and the air bag light came on and has not turned off.
On at least 7 occasions when starting the vehicle if the air bag light on the information center stays onthe turn signals,stop lights ,a/c etc will not work. If i turn off the ignition and restart and the air bag light goes off then everything is normal. I know there was a campaign on the air bags sometimes deploying through an electrical problem but the dealer i contacted and gave the id # to assured me that campaign have been done on this vehicle. I do not want to get into a lenghty repair bill on an electrical problemunless some one knows specifically what is wrong. I would appreciate any help you can provide in regard to this problem.

Bought a new 1995 dodge caravan in may of same year. Short time later a letter notifying us of rear latch door coming open at impact----took care of it. About 3 years after that a 20 amp fuse in position #20 kept blowing, air bag light would come on and rear window wiper would go out. A short time ago while looking up parts for another vehicle at advance auto parts,just for curiosity looked up recalls for the 95caravan and found out about the short to ground that exists in the airbag circuit. I never received a recall letter from dodge. Yesterday the 28th of sept 2009 went to dodge and they confirmed that there is a problem with this vehicles but they want to charge me for the diagnostic test if it was something else. The diagnostic runs like $110. Now i'm unemployed and my wife is picking up our grandboy from school with this safety item not working properly i'm worried sick. I feel that chrysler should take care of this problem at their own expense,because there is definitely a short in the circuit. A vehicle hit the consumer in the driver's side rear pushing the vehicle into a landscaping wall and into a tree, the front end of the vehicle was smashed inward, however the airbag experienced no deployment, causing the consumer to sustain injuries, there was a recall on the airbag (99v113) which the consumer did have serviced.
Recall 99v113000.afterdealer repaired the vehicle under the recall, the airbag light illuminated.since the initial repair, dealer has attempted to correct the problem three times.during the last repair, the dealer replaced module because it was rusted out.

The horn and speed control was inoperative, which was caused by faulty clock spring. The air bag warning light stayed on , because it was discovered the passenger air bag was missing, the bulb was removed from the instrument panel, and the air bag will not deploy in a collision.scc

We received a recall on the air bags in august of 1999. Took the van to audubon chrysler center in henderson , ky. To be checked out. We were turning into our driveway when a car topped the hill hit us.the police, the wrecker driver, and the body shop getting us an estimate , could not understand why the air bags did not activate. While traveling east on hwy 70 (between morehead city & havelock nc.) my vehicle (1995 dodge caravan se) i was struck by another vehicleon the right front side of my vehicle. The impact was such that the axles were knocked out. My passengers air bag deployed and my bag failed to deploy on impact. The bag compartment open after my chest struc the steering wheel. My impact with the wheen was lessened as i was wearing my seat belt (as was my passenger) there was a witness to my air bag failure. The highway patrol were told of the failure by myself as well as by the witness. I am currently ubder a doctors care for extencuve soft tissue damage to the area of my breast bone (internally). My dogdge was totalled out by the nationwide insurance adjuster.

The van was struck from the rear (approx. 35-40 mph) and was driven into another vehicle. The entire front end of the van was driven in against the motor, both front bucket seat (backs) were broken, the driver seat was facing slightly toward the driver door, the drivers knees were forced into the dash (with her seat belt on) and neither one of the air bags were deployed. Chrysler said this was normal when i contacted them about why the bags didn't deploy.

Im driving along and my gauges start going on and off and flickering .then after awhile they come back on then start back up going off and on.
Corrosion on electrical components caused the cruise control to fail. Vehicle would accelerate and would not stop until turned off.braking would not slow the engine or the vehicle.vehicle would also stall upon deceleration.
Intermittent electric door lock failure. Had the main control panel on the driver's door replaced shortly after discovering the problem at a cost of about $175 part and labor--changed nothing. Researched on line and found that removing negative battery cable from the negative post for about 30 minutes temporarily fixes the door locks for about 2-3 weeks. I am not putting out $150-$250 to have the bcm re-flashed. This is dodge's problem--please recall.

I have owned this vehicle since new.i have had the oil changed and tire rotated as instructed by the manufacturer.ibelieve the tires should have lasted longer than 28,xxx miles and the battery beyond 36,xxx miles.in thirty years of driving i have never experienced so many failures with a vehicle.the drawer under the passenger has never close, the vinyl fabric that wraps around the drivers seat is torn due to cracking, not abuse.the horn has repeatedly failed.the vehicle is now started to rust.i have had what i refer to as a light show on the interior of the vehicle.the interior lights just flash on and off for no apparent reason.when this occurs, bells chime as well.this will occur for days at a time and then cease.the paint on the front of the vehicle, below the headlights at the base of the bumper is flaking off.this area of the vehicle receives the most abuse from road debris and should hold up better.even though a head gasket and sensor has been replaced, the engine will indicate it is overheated on occasion.brake pads wear out often.everytime i turn the vehicle on i do not know what to expect.whoever has had a car where the horn doesn't work, the inside rear view mirror falls off while driving down the road, the hood release latch fails and has to be replaced,interior lights which flicker on and off at random, premature replacement of the original tires,seats fabric which cracks, and, of course, the head gasket.even the service manager at the dealer said it was unusual given the mileage on the car at the time.i never know what to expect when i get into the vehicle, it just seems like too many things are occuring.due to distance, the dealer that sold us the car did not do any repairs.several of the repairs have been done by royal gate dodge, 15502 manchester rd., ellisville, mo 63011.thanks for your help and for listening

Recall 99v113 000/air bag deployment: recall notice received since july concerning electrical short circuit when ignition key isturned to "no" or "start" position. This can cause air bag inadvertently to deploy. Been waiting since 29 july 99, and dealer still failed to honorrecall properly.

The air-conditioning unit stopped blowing cold air without warning. When i took my van to the mechanic, he informed me that he was unable to detect any leak in the system and with my permission recharged the system back in september. It worked fine for abouttwo months then once again,without warning,it stopped blowing cold air.i called the manufacturer,and they bluntly told me that it was my problem since the3 year/36,000 mile warranty had long expired. Icountered to no avail that two seperate independant mechanics had informed me that a number of dodgeowners with the same air-conditioning units had been complaining to them of the same problem.in addition, i also had found out that chrysler had extended several model warranties to 7 year/70,000 miles including the grand cherokee because of faulty air-conditioning evaporators which i believe is the same or similar one presently failing in my van. On a seperate note,i was informed earlier in december that i had an oil leak coming out of an area where a section of the head gasket was seated. To make a long story short,i had also informed the manufacturer ofthis problem that could have cost me over $1000.00 toreplace. Believe it or not, the representative that i had spoken to admitted over the phone to me that there was a gasket problem with a number of 90's models and the problem was corrected with a change in 1999 select vehicles including the 2.4 litre minivans.fortunately, i was only charged a $100.00 deductible by a localdodge dealership to replace the defective head gasket.
Dealer was going to replace the transmission, but after several hours of labor, they decided to replace a differential pin on the transmission after only 52,000 miles.dealer would not cover cost of repair.it sounds like many people have had similar problem, is there going to be a recall?also, the dealer has recharged the air conditioner 3 times within the past 3 years.each time they charged me for it.i find it hard to believe that a charge would last only one summer.

Valve cover gasket leak @24000 miles replaced by dealer. Still leaking at 26000 miles replaced by dealer at approx. 30000 miles head was checked dealer stated head was good replaced head gasket and valve cover gasketdealer stated that any future problems with same components would be taken care of.expertienced intermittent check engine lightdealer checked and stated every thing okay replaced oxygen sensor. Still intermittent check engine light at approx 70395 coolant bubbling out of over flow replaced radiator cap vehicle now overheated test for carbon monoxide gas in coolant system shows positive indication bad head gasket or head dealer does not want to repair even though problem was never properly repaired
The head gasket had to be replaced by dealership 4/99 (mileage: 40066) when 3 yrs & 10 months old.the head gasket and cracked cyinder head had to be replacecd by same dealership on 8/14/00 (mileage: 57681) when it was 5 years and 2 months old.
At approximately 58500 miles the head gasket on the engine failed.it was replaced under a purchased extended warrantee.i was not informed by anyone that chrysler had a program in place to cover the cost of repairs though such a program existed.at 75419 miles the headgasket blew again.only this time the head was cracked as well.i was charged over $1625.00 for the repairs eventhough it appears the original repairs were ineffective.after much discussion the car dealer warranteed the repairs for 36000 miles or 3 years.this offer was never made on the original repairs.other problems with the car include the front struts going out at 42000 miles (it took over four trips to the dealer to get the problem mostly corrected), a frozen brake caliper causing premature ware out of the left front brakes, a suspension system that bottoms out harshly on roads with dips.with the latest repair the temperature gauge read a half unit higher than ever before and the vent blows warm air regardless of outside temperature (even if it is very cold).i am very dissatisfied with this vehicle.
Engine died. When mechanic took spark plugs out,they were wet, andappeared to be leaking, causing th engine head to be warped. The car was missing alot, and just went out while driving.no warranty.dealer cannot duplicate the problem.

Cyclinder head cracked at around 40,000 miles and was replaced by the dealer.at approrimately 69,500 miles the head the dealer replaced at 40,000 miles cracked again.in talking to a friend in louisiana their van had the exact same problem at almost the same mileage.i have asked them to email this same questionaire to you.the head crackes and leakes antifreeze and water into the cyclinder compartment causing the vehicle to run real rough and overheat.

Noisy exhaust.exhaust gasket has been replaced 3 times.at the last repair, the repair person claims that owner just live with the noise.
Original motor and transmission mounts broke in june of 2000, replacement mounts in october 2000.vehicle has never been in a collision or driven off road.replacement mounts lasted less than 2000 miles.
Transmission problems reported in other dodge caravans, first had seals, gaskets replaced, dealership did not do correctly causing extra damage, drove over 200 miles not realizing it was leaking fluid.
Driving vehicle, front motor mount bolts fell out, heard it fall.had vehicle towed; operator noticed problem after putting on lift.
While driving, vehicle engine check illuminated, the temperature gauge malfunctioned, and the head gasket blewout. .consumer was informed that the reason the guages were acting erractically was due to the blown head gasket.
Transmission is defective, will not shift into third gear. While traveling will not go past 20-30 mph. Dealer aware of the problem. Repairs made and problem still exists. Also head gasket gauge would move from hot to cold, dealer contacted and repairs made at owners expense. Head gasket failed.transmission failed.

I was driving when i heard a metallic crunch and suddenly i could not turn the wheel in any direction. I managed to park.. The pulley was broken and the belt was off .fortunately i had stopped to pick up my daughter .we had to travel on i 95 s and would have been going at least 60 mph. This was very expensive for me because we were on our way out of town for a family emergency and i had to take the only rental car which was available $277. Have my car towed $80. And pay for repairs $255..the dealer acts as thogh this is a commo occurence and something to be expected.. I have been driving for about 40 years and never had this happen i also have a water leak under the drivers mat and fromthe roof into the storage area in the back.they also ac like this is perfectly normal and told me i need to take it to a place that checks out leaks and pay .

Re: doors and latches problem. Can document visit to dealer 3/26/96 although problem started earlier. They aligned doors which were sagging but wouldn't look at locks. Yesterday, 11/29/99 the lock on the drivers door failed completely. I had to drive home holding the door. When i took it to the body shop, the guy said, without even looking at it, what was wrong. The doors sag, a plastic casing in the lock wears down and binds the tumblers and the screws holding the lock/latch in fall out.he says he sees this 2-3 times a week on caravans but chrysler won't do anything about it. The pass. Side door latch will have to be replaced altogether.he couldn't understand why it was working at all given its condition.it will cost me 375-400 to fix both doors.the latches are $100 a piece, and the guy said they would fail again given their construction.re: engine/ac problem i have had this problem with this vehicle since i purchased it.if you use the ac for any length of time, the car cuts off, especially when rounding a corner while in motion. It can be restarted but the idle must be kept high for over 10 mins before it will keep running again.it forces me to brake with my left foot just to keep the car running.it always does this with the ac, but also occurs other times randomly.this has always been the most dangerous thing about my car.i am scared to let my teenagers drive it. Then the a/c also caused the check engine light to come on on the interstate at 65 mph and remain on, we took to a repair shop and the diagnostic showed a bad egr valve.then the rear liftgate support has broken causing the liftgate to fall onto a person and caused injury to the head.

Drain hose from air conditioner into engine compartment collapsed and plugged. Caused water to back up into interior and splash onto pedals and computer behind center console. Symptoms included the "check engine" light activated, windshield wipers operating unexpectedly when switch in "off" position and (you guessed it) wet feet. Solution, cut a little off the free end of the hose. The air cleaner housing must be removed to do this. Since the water is now draining properly, the symtoms have gone. If the water had continued to back up onto the computer and wiring, i suppose complete failure of the electronics would have resulted.

Our family is a second generation consumer of the chrysler coporation's products. This vehicle has proven such a lemon, we really doubt that we will ever buy another chrylser/dodge product. Within a month of our purchase, we had a recall on the liftgate latch, that was fixed. We are currently having our transmission inspected by a licensed chrysler dealer, and will submit to the corporation. We have had the seat belts not retract on the driver's and passengers side for years, which catch in the doors constantly. The power windows in the rear had a motor go out, the universal joint fell off while the car was sitting in the drive, and the most ungodly act was when someone was closing the sliding passenger door, and it totally slid off the car. Luckily, no one was injured. The airconditioning was about 2 years old when it died, and the company replaced that underwarranty, along with the universal joint. The sliding door cost us a fortune, and the company only gave us $122.00.i wish that i could turn back the hands of time, and have bought the windstar instead of this esxpensive lemon.

During 11/98, the front cover of the right factory installed fog light came off. The dealer said the fog light is one unit and the cover could not come off unless the entire unit was struck very hard. There was no damage to the vehicle, but when my husband removed the unit to replace it with a new light from the dealer ($95), there was a crack in the unit. The dealer had no explanation for the crack. In april 1999, i discovered that the left fog light cover was missing. The damage was identical. Since that time my husband and i have noticed many dodge caravans with missing fog light covers. The dealers have offered no assistance in trying to investigate the problem.

Driver left car to open gate.driver smelled strong odor of gasoline.stopped engine.raised hood.saw wet fitting on gas line.pulled back plastic sleeve.gas line was rubbed through.started engine, checked line.major fountain of gas spraying over engine!stopped engine, with no fire, a true miracle.cut back hose, slipped over exposed stab fitting and applied hose clamp.no more leak.will take to dealer for repair this week.discovery was just pure luck.the cause was a wiring harness link from the carburetor that was tightly routed across the rubber gas line.the plastic sleeve concealed the damage.the sleeve showed no wear, but the rubber hose inside was rubbed through.i was lucky.a looser loop of wiring harness would have avoided the problem forever.

Re: doors and latches problem. Can document visit to dealer 3/26/96 although problem started earlier. They aligned doors which were sagging but wouldn't look at locks. Yesterday, 11/29/99 the lock on the drivers door failed completely. I had to drive home holding the door. When i took it to the body shop, the guy said, without even looking at it, what was wrong. The doors sag, a plastic casing in the lock wears down and binds the tumblers and the screws holding the lock/latch in fall out.he says he sees this 2-3 times a week on caravans but chrysler won't do anything about it. The pass. Side door latch will have to be replaced altogether.he couldn't understand why it was working at all given its condition.it will cost me 375-400 to fix both doors.the latches are $100 a piece, and the guy said they would fail again given their construction.re: engine/ac problem i have had this problem with this vehicle since i purchased it.if you use the ac for any length of time, the car cuts off, especially when rounding a corner while in motion. It can be restarted but the idle must be kept high for over 10 mins before it will keep running again.it forces me to brake with my left foot just to keep the car running.it always does this with the ac, but also occurs other times randomly.this has always been the most dangerous thing about my car.i am scared to let my teenagers drive it. I worked for a company in baltimore and drove a van like this one on my job.that van had the same problem.i put it in the shop, they did $800 worth of work, replaced everything they could think of, but when i got it back, it did the same thing that very night. I notified the dealer as well as the zone manager for the company of the problems, and never received any feedback at all. When i called the service department, they said since they did not do the work, nothing more could be done. This vehicle has been nothing but major problems. The vehicles are known for the transmission problems and nothing is ever done. The transmission began failing at 56,000 miles.

I have replaced the transmission with chrysler remanufactured units twice in 11 months. The units were over their 12,000 miles/12 month warranty. I know that chrysler gives such a low warranty because their transmissions aren't lasting. Every transmission shop that i spoke with knows the unit# in their head and claims that they willn't rebuild them because of the problems associated with them. The only way that they will work on them is to replace them with the factory remanufactured units. My original trans went out at 52k , then the replacement unit went out at 92k ( was serviced at 77k). Don't you feel that a major part of a vehicle like the trans should last longer than 40 to 50k miles? any help that you can assist me with will be greatly appreciated.thank you, derf martin
Complete transmission failure.assessment by mechanic is that the transmission fluid pump failed, stopping fluid flow to the transaxle.this was followed by failure of the clutch plates and running clutches.i have maintained the vehicle with regular checks on fluid levels, oil changes, etc and this failure was totally unexpected.

On1-12-2000 diagnosed with leaking solenoid pack which was replaced on 2-02-2000 at 50954 mi at a cost of 284.00 on 5-24-2000 i was quoted a price of 1700.00 to fix an internal leak .this is most definitely a defective product and dodge should bear the cost for repairs.
Original motor and transmission mounts broke in june of 2000, replacement mounts in october 2000.vehicle has never been in a collision or driven off road.replacement mounts lasted less than 2000 miles.

Vehicle transmission locked up at 30 mph and nearly caused impact from rear by vehicle behind. Transmission mechanic stated that chrysler was aware that the overdrive hub and planet (originally made for 3.0 and 3.3 liter engine) were not sufficient for 3.8 liter engine. Later made larger part, but did not recall part or notify owners. He was aware of this defect through working for dealerships. Stated the defect is known by dealerships and not reported to consumers. This causes the sudden lockup of the transmission. I had just exited the interstate when my van locked up. I certainly would have rolled if it had locked at 70mph on i-10.

On august 11 ,2004 our 1995 dodge caravan failed to pick up speed on the nj turnpike, while going to newark airport. Although there were no injuries or accidents, it was stop and go on the way homeat night. The car was purchased in july 1995 from suburban dodge in metuchen, nj. I took the car to the dealer (now mcdonagh dodge) to have the vehicle diagnosed. They said that it was a transmission failure. The car does not run properly now. I have not had it repaired because it is an expensive repair. In addition the ac compressor also needs to be replaced. According to the dealer if the compressor is not replaced a belt may break and i could lose power to the steering. These problems should not happen for a vehicle that has only 94,000 miles.

Within a month of our purchase, we had a recall on the liftgate latch, that was fixed. We are currently having our transmission inspected by a licensed chrysler dealer, and will submit to the corporation. We have had the seat belts not retract on the driver's and passengers side for years, which catch in the doors constantly. The power windows in the rear had a motor go out, the universal joint fell off while the car was sitting in the drive, and the most ungodly act was when someone was closing the sliding passenger door, and it totally slid off the car. Luckily, no one was injured. The airconditioning was about 2 years old when it died, and the company replaced that underwarranty, along with the universal joint. The sliding door cost us a fortune, and the company only gave us $122.00.i wish that i could turn back the hands of time, and have bought the windstar instead of this esxpensive lemon.

While traveling east on hwy 70 (between morehead city & havelock nc.) my vehicle (1995 dodge caravan se) i was struck by another vehicleon the right front side of my vehicle. The impact was such that the axles were knocked out. My passengers air bag deployed and my bag failed to deploy on impact. The bag compartment open after my chest struc the steering wheel. My impact with the wheen was lessened as i was wearing my seat belt (as was my passenger) there was a witness to my air bag failure. The highway patrol were told of the failure by myself as well as by the witness. I am currently ubder a doctors care for extencuve soft tissue damage to the area of my breast bone (internally). My dogdge was totalled out by the nationwide insurance adjuster.

Owner was driving at approximately 55 mph and was rear ended. Upon impact, the seat belts failed to restrain the driver and the front passenger. The belt loosened.since the seat belts loosened on the first impact, the occupants had no protection after that and were thrown all over the cab of the van.
Seat belts come unbuckled for no apparent reason.front and rear seat belts have become locked and would not release when the release button was pressed.at least one of the seat belts were replaced while the van was under warranty for these problems.it has required several pushes of the button and pushing and pulling on the lap/shoulder belt before the belt releases from the part of the belt with the button.this has occurred in our 1995 dodge caravan which we bought new.we also bought a new 2002 dodge grand caravan which has the same generation 3 seat belts in the back seats and they also have come unbuckled without notice.my neighbor has a 1996 dodge dakota which he bought new and argued with the dealer until they replaced all the seat belts because their children kept coming unbuckled and jeff (the truck owner) became trapped in the driver's seat and had to have the seat belt cut to free him.the incident dates have not been recorded but the most recent time with the 1995 caravan was this month april 2003.also the seats are unsafe throughout the 1995 caravan.on 2/6/98 my wife and i were rear ended in the 1995 caravan by a 1990 mercury sable.we were nearly stopped while waiting for the van in front of us to make a left turn.the person behind us was not watching and she rear ended us at approximately. 40-45 mph.this accident was witnessed by the state highway patrol man. The person behind us was watching instead of watching where she was going.i was nearly paralyzed because the built in head rest is not high enough.i am 6'1" and my wife is 5'2".my wife was not badly injured.as for myself, the disc at c5-6 was completely blown apart and compressed my spinal cord in half.i now have a bone graft and a steel plate fusing my neck.the rear seats are completely unacceptable!
I'm filling out this report not to complain about an incident but to prevent future ones.i've read and seen on television (primetime, abc news) the reports about the safety concerns of gen 3 seatbelts that have been installed in some dodge vehicles.as an owner of a dodge caravan (that has gen 3 seatbelts) and more importantly as a mother of an infant, i would like to see these seatbelts recalled and replaced by the manufacturer.i would like to see the safer gen 4 seatbelts installed in all the vehicles they were originally placed in.thank you.

Our family is a second generation consumer of the chrysler coporation's products. This vehicle has proven such a lemon, we really doubt that we will ever buy another chrylser/dodge product. Within a month of our purchase, we had a recall on the liftgate latch, that was fixed. We are currently having our transmission inspected by a licensed chrysler dealer, and will submit to the corporation. We have had the seat belts not retract on the driver's and passengers side for years, which catch in the doors constantly. The power windows in the rear had a motor go out, the universal joint fell off while the car was sitting in the drive, and the most ungodly act was when someone was closing the sliding passenger door, and it totally slid off the car. Luckily, no one was injured. The airconditioning was about 2 years old when it died, and the company replaced that underwarranty, along with the universal joint. The sliding door cost us a fortune, and the company only gave us $122.00.i wish that i could turn back the hands of time, and have bought the windstar instead of this esxpensive lemon.
After air bag recall was performed, the warning chime sounded as the dome lights came on.consumer felt defect is related to recall work performed.while driving at night, and using the multipurpose switch to go from bright high beam to normal headlights, the headlights suddenly went dark. Seat belts come unbuckled for no apparent reason.front and rear seat belts have become locked and would not release when the release button was pressed.at least one of the seat belts were replaced while the van was under warranty for these problems.it has required several pushes of the button and pushing and pulling on the lap/shoulder belt before the belt releases from the part of the belt with the button.this has occurred in our 1995 dodge caravan which we bought new.we also bought a new 2002 dodge grand caravan which has the same generation 3 seat belts in the back seats and they also have come unbuckled without notice.my neighbor has a 1996 dodge dakota which he bought new and argued with the dealer until they replaced all the seat belts because their children kept coming unbuckled and jeff (the truck owner) became trapped in the driver's seat and had to have the seat belt cut to free him.the incident dates have not been recorded but the most recent time with the 1995 caravan was this month april 2003.also the seats are unsafe throughout the 1995 caravan.on 2/6/98 my wife and i were rear ended in the 1995 caravan by a 1990 mercury sable.we were nearly stopped while waiting for the van in front of us to make a left turn.the person behind us was not watching and she rear ended us at approximately. 40-45 mph.this accident was witnessed by the state highway patrol man. When driving on wet roads the power steering fails. This is the norm not the exception. It was replaced once at about 50,000 miles ant now it is occurring again. I would not let my wife or daughter drive this vehicle,if the steering was to go out it is too heavy for them to regain control. I have spoken to other owners of this make of minivan and they say it has happenned with them too. Bolt attaching the rear door support shock to the body broke off at the top thread.the shock immediately extended and tore the headliner.the rear door slammed closed in what could have been a fatal blow to our 2 year old child.failure is a design flaw in using a shoulder on the bolt to put the threads in tension while a bending force is also being exerted causing the threads to fail.a very dangerous situation for small children as these vehicles get older.

I was making a slow left hand turn from rte 83 onto throndale ave in elkgrove villiage il.as i made the turn it felt as though i had lost a tire on the van.the van started to shake and vibrate really bad. The passenger side front door flew open, at the time ihad just made the turn and was trying to get up speed,but couldn't.just made it about 500 ft on thorndale.looked under the van it looked as though the front axle and cv joint fell apart. Curry motors was suppose to have changed the front hub bearings when i bought the van, they also had said that they checked and replace the front brakes and that the rear brakes were okay. This was when i had purchased the van.w hen i talked to the mgr at currie motors last saturdayand had told him what happened he said quote it's impossible something like that can't happen . I have owned this vehicle since new.i have had the oil changed and tire rotated as instructed by the manufacturer.ibelieve the tires should have lasted longer than 28,xxx miles and the battery beyond 36,xxx miles.in thirty years of driving i have never experienced so many failures with a vehicle.the drawer under the passenger has never close, the vinyl fabric that wraps around the drivers seat is torn due to cracking, not abuse.the horn has repeatedly failed.the vehicle is now started to rust.i have had what i refer to as a light show on the interior of the vehicle.the interior lights just flash on and off for no apparent reason.when this occurs, bells chime as well.this will occur for days at a time and then cease.the paint on the front of the vehicle, below the headlights at the base of the bumper is flaking off.this area of the vehicle receives the most abuse from road debris and should hold up better.even though a head gasket and sensor has been replaced, the engine will indicate it is overheated on occasion.brake pads wear out often.everytime i turn the vehicle on i do not know what to expect.whoever has had a car where the horn doesn't work, the inside rear view mirror falls off while driving down the road, the hood release latch fails and has to be replaced,interior lights which flicker on and off at random, premature replacement of the original tires,seats fabric which cracks, and, of course, the head gasket.even the service manager at the dealer said it was unusual given the mileage on the car at the time.i never know what to expect when i get into the vehicle, it just seems like too many things are occuring.due to distance, the dealer that sold us the car did not do any repairs.several of the repairs have been done by royal gate dodge, 15502 manchester rd., ellisville, mo 63011.thanks for your help and for listening
On the 21st april 2000 while doing 70mph on the freeway leaving el paso we felt a thud under the car and then we veered to the left.i managed to keep the car under control and made it to the hard shoulder.i got out and inspected the car and the tread had come off my back/left tire and was scattered along the freeway. A police car arrived and escorted us to a firestone service centre in el paso where we had all four tires replaced.the damaged tire was replaced free of charge by the garage.it was a very frightening experience as my wife and i were travelling with our four children.i have no idea what type of firestone tyres were on the car but as the accident mirrors those described in the recent newspaper reports i am assuming that they were the ones being recalled.( dot number: )

This tire blew dentical to recalled ones and only had 3k miles on it steel out of it - one section latex glove thick rubber on inside had wobbled since they put it on in april but they told me it was nothing to worry about.... Then it blew - they replaced it with another one like it when i took it in but i worry about the other one that is firestone bought at same time and even about this new one - are they safe if they dont blow or show signs of wobble like the other?i drive with 3 kids in car on road trips and i worry now had i been going faster when it blew we could have died- thanks( dot number: tire size: p195/70r14 )
While driving in heavy traffic, space saver spare tire fell out from under van, cable rusted through and broke; tire bounced up into air, went over rear vehicle, rolled around expressway, no crash.

I have spoken to several mechanics, all said this was very common with this vehicle. No safety defect (s) discussed in the summary.
Engine check light is on.air conditioning isn't working. As a result, warm airis coming out. Also,consumer had to replace the fuse due to the horn not working.
Computer module malfunction failed causing check guages lights to come on and the speedometer not to work.

Just recently we have noticed that he automotive finish is beginning to form bubbles and flake.i have noticed other mini-vans with major finish damages (large patches of the finish have come off and in many cases corrosion beginning)my minivan is just beginning this process and i have touched-up the small spots as i notice them.there is a general condition of flaking on the top of the rear door in streaks as though wind had torn off small sections.

First, we were running the a/c on the highway for about 15 minutes and when we got off onto another freeway and stopped for a traffic signal the engine stalled.every time we stopped it failed again. Then the a/c also caused the check engine light to come on on the interstate at 65 mph and remain on, we took to a repair shop and the diagnostic showed a bad egr valve.then the rear liftgate support has broken causing the liftgate to fall onto a person and caused injury to the head.

These seem to be design defects. Many people seem to have my problem.

Our family is a second generation consumer of the chrysler coporation's products. This vehicle has proven such a lemon, we really doubt that we will ever buy another chrylser/dodge product. Within a month of our purchase, we had a recall on the liftgate latch, that was fixed. We are currently having our transmission inspected by a licensed chrysler dealer, and will submit to the corporation. We have had the seat belts not retract on the driver's and passengers side for years, which catch in the doors constantly. The power windows in the rear had a motor go out, the universal joint fell off while the car was sitting in the drive, and the most ungodly act was when someone was closing the sliding passenger door, and it totally slid off the car. Luckily, no one was injured. The airconditioning was about 2 years old when it died, and the company replaced that underwarranty, along with the universal joint. The sliding door cost us a fortune, and the company only gave us $122.00.i wish that i could turn back the hands of time, and have bought the windstar instead of this esxpensive lemon.

Airbag system experiencing wiring failure prior to recall notice (99v113000). However, vehicle experiencing wiring problems may be cause of windshield wipers motor failure.
The seat belt warning light stays on because there is a wire that goes to the rear windshield wiper motor which comes on when the wiper motor is inoperative. Dealer has seen vehicle.

Tire dealer said all 4 rimes were warped.my mech. Said this was probably the reason the other items failed have a strong suspicion car was sold to me as new when it was not.will explain on the phone.
