I have lost two starter engines in 90,000 miles, which appear to be component design flaws. The chronic stalling problem surfaced at 5,000 miles, and the chrysler technical center could not diagnose the problem. Stalling has occurred while drivingthe vehicle at <25 mph(during left or right hand turns), which i believe is a safety hazard. Several times, a dealer cleaned the throttle body housing, but the problem would reoccur frequently. I notice that there are more than 10 technical service bulletins for the idle control motor, the fuel pump, stalling immediately at cold start, stalling afterthe transmission is placed into gear, etc. I believe that my vehicle is a lemon and dodge/chrysler has not dealt with me fairly.
While driving 40mph w all instrument panel lights went out. Pulled vehicle over & checked lights. Noticed no tail lights. Stopped at store to get fuses. Replaced old fuses. The new fuses also blew out. Also,windshield wipers in rear failed to work properly. Had head lights & parking lights.heater failed to come on when trying to use it. When vehicle was parked for awhile, it would fail to start. Would need a jump to get started. Will be going to dealership to have vehicle checked.

Brakes stopped working in middle of driving almost cause a car accident. I looked up the problem and they did a recall on the abs brake system. Would just like to bring it in to get it fixed.
Repeated pulley and then belt failure causing steering and breaking trouble. Repairs do not last. Local dealers don't have laser alignment tool to check alignment. The internet is filled with belts flying off because of rain or slush in this vehicle, my pulleys just disintegrate with out the water. There seems to be a lot of aftermarket solutions but they seem hit or miss. It always happens when vehicle is being driven by grand mother with the grand children aboard far enough away for a $150.00 tow bill. Its lucky so fare its been on city streets and at low enough speeds that a place to safely pull over can be found.the pulleys that seem to fail are the idler and the tensioner pulleys. This 3.3 engine is well maintained with 145,000 miles. Though it seems that millage does not matter when it comes to pulley issues.

Electric radiator fan seized up and blew a fusable link that was located ** inside ** the main wire harness near the front washer fluid reservoir.when the fusable link blew, it set fire to the other wires and fusable links in the plastic comb sheath.the dealer fix this by patching the wire harness.two weeks ago my van was worked on by the dealer for problems with the abs system located right next to where they patched the wire harness.last week the vehicle caught fire in the vicinity of where the harness repair was made.i do not blame the dealer but i cannot believe that the design engineers would put a fusable link ** inside ** of a wire harness!!

My wife and i were driving on the freeway when we felt a sudden loss of power and an unusually rough engine operation which seemed to come all of a sudden. We drove the disabled vehicle to the auto repair shop and later found out that the rocker arm shaft support tower had broken off at the base. The head was aluminum. The tower was cast into the the head. Through no fault of ours this condition happened for no apparent reason. My mechanic indicated that his engine rebuilder said that he has seen many aluminum dodge grand carabvan engines with this broken tower condition over the years. When i approached the service repair manager at chrysler/plymouth, he stated that he has never heard or seen this type of problem before for this type of engine. When i called chrysler customer servicem, they stated chrysler will not repair this problem without a warrantee. I need all the help i can get to see if i am the only one who has suffered a $1666 repair bill to fix this problem which i am told is due to a manufacturer's defective design and/or manufacturing problem. Your assistance in supplying us with any information on this subject is welcome.

The lens coverfor the headlamps becomes filmy over the years. I noticed all the dodge minivans having this problem. At night you have to drive with your high beams on just to see. This makes it dangerous to oncoming traffic. I consider this a safety hazard. I contacted chrysler and they said it is not their problem. The cost to replace these len covers aer 100 dollars each.not including labor. I feel this is chrysler problem. I see other cars and their lens cover is still clear.rainy or at night it is very unsafe.

Fuel leaking at center fuel rail, seals are non replaceable. The fuel rail cross over tube was leaking fuel on to the center of the engine.the consumer quit driving for fear of possible fire.the consumer's investigation indicated that the 3.3 ls for 1996-2000 had a recall for exact same part failured and the 1992 3.3 ls should be included in the recall.
The fuel rails that join together are leaking fluid from the connection point. The "u" shape rail at both connecting ends is where leak is happening. Took vehicle to dealership & was informed by mechanic the parts needed to be ordered & would notify consumer when they are in for repairs.
Fuel injector started leaking.the left fuel rail seal, which meets the crossover joint to connect the left and right rails,went bad and started leaking without warning. Also, 3 local dealers had the part on back order, anda new modified piece will be issued in june by the manufacturing company.this can cause afire . *ml

I had the trans rebuilt (dodge kit) for $1700. Less than 6 months later, while driving 55 on the freeway, the van stops moving forward and the trans is dead again. I have searched the internet and found numerous complaints about other years and other models of dodge transmissions (www.aei.ca/~gregoire/claude.html). Something needs to be done about dodge and their transmission problems. Our mechanic now wants $1200 more to fix our van. We just can't afford it after the $1700 last year. I would like to see a class action suit filed against dodge. This problem should have been corrected, not swept under the carpet. I try to buy american, but incidents like this make we wish i hadn't.

My drivers side seat belt malfunctioned that it would not retract and was loose and i could not even buckle up my seatbelt. I had the vehicle in for service on a recall and i had the dealer look at the seatbelt to fix it. The dealer advised me that it needed parts and with parts and labor it would cost me $300 dollars to fix it. I contacted dodge and they said that they could not do anything about it since it was out of warranty. My feelings are that this is a safety issue and it is a state law to wear seatbelts. I did feel that i had to pay $300 to fix the problem, they would not even meet me half way $150. Maybe you can help resolve this problem, i was never in a accident. Repeated pulley and then belt failure causing steering and breaking trouble. Repairs do not last. Local dealers don't have laser alignment tool to check alignment. The internet is filled with belts flying off because of rain or slush in this vehicle, my pulleys just disintegrate with out the water. There seems to be a lot of aftermarket solutions but they seem hit or miss. It always happens when vehicle is being driven by grand mother with the grand children aboard far enough away for a $150.00 tow bill. Its lucky so fare its been on city streets and at low enough speeds that a place to safely pull over can be found.the pulleys that seem to fail are the idler and the tensioner pulleys. This 3.3 engine is well maintained with 145,000 miles. Though it seems that millage does not matter when it comes to pulley issues.
I have a 1992 dodge caravan subject to recall 685 nhtsa # 96v099000. The antilock bendix 10 assembly was replaced once . It now needs replacing again . Abs light comes on and pump runs excessively. All inherent tothe problems addressed above . The dealer is claiming to no nothing about the lifetime warrenty on this system indicated in the recall documentation on this site . He informed the manufacturer of the failure with the brakes. The manufacturer stated that they would only cover the expenses if the contact vehicle had less than 100,000 miles. The internet is filled with belts flying off because of rain or slush in this vehicle, my pulleys just disintegrate with out the water. There seems to be a lot of aftermarket solutions but they seem hit or miss. It always happens when vehicle is being driven by grand mother with the grand children aboard far enough away for a $150.00 tow bill. Its lucky so fare its been on city streets and at low enough speeds that a place to safely pull over can be found.the pulleys that seem to fail are the idler and the tensioner pulleys. This 3.3 engine is well maintained with 145,000 miles. Though it seems that millage does not matter when it comes to pulley issues.

I have had two tire failures, the most recent in march 99 and the prior in september 98.both tires were goodyear regatta tires that had between 13,000 to 18,000 miles (rated for 65,000).in each instance, the tires failed while driving at about 70 mph. Since about 1997 the exterior paint has literally peeled away from the car; down to the bare metal in most areas. I have observed literally hundreds of these vehicles(same vintage) with this problem.
This is the second time this component failed,the replacement was oem.they still have not gotten it right.this failure causes the loss of power steering, water pump & alternator.if this happened at a critical time it could easily cause an accident.this problem has happened to several of my friends and a local service station even carries the part due to its high failure rate. Several times, a dealer cleaned the throttle body housing, but the problem would reoccur frequently. I notice that there are more than 10 technical service bulletins for the idle control motor, the fuel pump, stalling immediately at cold start, stalling afterthe transmission is placed into gear, etc. I believe that my vehicle is a lemon and dodge/chrysler has not dealt with me fairly.

Recall 99v-189 000/windshield wiper. Vehicle has experienced left side wiper pivot drive armdisengaging from shaft, leading to loss of wiper function. Driver's visibility would be impaired and cause a vehicle collision.

When brakes were applied under normal stopping conditions, abs system activated, resulting in extended stopping distance.manufacturer has been notified. Owner has deactivated abs sensor.consumer stated that on both front cv joints there is a tone wheel to provide wheel rotation into the abs, both wheels have cracked between teeth providing false wheel rotation into abs, consumer believes this confuses the abs resulting in loss of braking power, the vehicle suddenly releases the brakes causing a greatly increased stopping distance, it appears that the tone wheel material was too thin resulting in the cracks from the press-fit mounting to the cv joints, consumer stated it is not possible to replace the tone wheels without replacing the entire axle as the manufacturer will not provide the parts.
