I received a safety recall regarding my 2012 dodge caliber, regarding a loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability during a crash due to shorting condition resulting in negative voltage transient that travels to the occupant restraint controller via the front impact sensor wires. I received this notice at least 6 months ago and no action has happened yet regarding this recall. Please have this reviewed as i travel my family around in this car and need to make sure it is up to standards. Thank you

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2012 dodge caliber. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v668000 (seat belts, air bags) however, the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

A car hit us in the passenger door we rolled and slid and none of the side curtain air bags went off.

I was involved in a car accident on thursday where i hit a guard rail pretty hard and dead on. At the time i was going 35 mph in the pouring rain. My airbags never deployed. This is very bothersome as i have had issues with this car before not starting all the time when i first purchased the car. I had bumper damage, the right head light was damaged and my neck was sliced by the seatbelt!

There is currently a recall on the vehicle potential loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioners deployment during a crash due to a shorting condition. It has been since september 2016 since we received this recall notice and there is still no resolution. There are other issues as well regarding our electrical system in our vehicle. The wiring system for our lights has gone bad and have been recommended to replace the wiring. This vehicle has issues that need resolving and i believe over 6 months of waiting on a fix to the air bag/seat belt recall has been way too long. When checking their website it says no remedy available still. I do not feel safe driving in this car.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2012 dodge caliber. The contact stated that a recall notice was received for nhtsa campaign number: 16v668000 (air bags). The dealer asked the contact to follow-up at the beginning of the year to determine when the parts may become available. The contact recently followed-up with the dealer, but they could not determine when the parts would be supplied from the manufacturer. The customer service agent from the manufacturer indicated that the parts may become available in mid june or july of 2017. The contact was not experiencing a failure. The recall describes problems with the occupant restraint controller, air bag deployment, and safety belt restraint. The dealer suggested i call the manufacturer, who told me they had deemed the vehicle safe to drive and to take it to the dealer for an inspection before they would consider giving me a different car to drive while the manfucaturer finds a solution. While checking in my car at the dealership, i was told that recall has 'only' resulted in injury and not death. Anybody want to volunteer themselves or their children? i didn't think so.the dealership employee checking in my car didn't think it was a problem to drive for uber.... Really?this is a safety issue and i don't think it's unreasonable to have alternate transportation paid for by the manufacturer until this is resolved.please contact me so that my family can remain safe while this resolved. I will be sending similar messages to the ag and congressional leaders.

"takata recall" i have a 2012 dodge caliber and the horn has suddenly stopped working and i am unsure why.the horn is located in the airbag assembly and because of this i have not been able to get it replaced.i don't understand why a horn on a 4 year old car would suddenly stop working, and if it's not the horn it would be the airbag.the carhas not been in a collision, nor has the airbag been deployed so i still don't understand why this is occurring.i have googled the issue and numerous people with the same vehicle different years are experiencing the same issue, but chrysler is refusing to deem it a recall issue.one night i was awaken to my horn/alarm going off, but the vehicle was inside a closed garage.the horn won't blow if pressed, but will later blow on it's on if you attempt to press it.there is an issue in the steering column because as i was driving down an interstate it began to blow, and in order to stop it from blowing i had to move the horn pad up and down.this cannot be normal.

Notified in september 2016 of a recall on this car but no remedy at that time was available. As of today, may 6, 2017, there is still no remedy. I was in a acccident where there was a car that stopped on his brakes quickly, and i hit the back of him and my car flipped upside down. The airbag didnt supress during the accident causing me and my fiancee to get seriously hurt.

I recently brought a used vehicle, when i took it for a test drive everything ran smoothly and things were working just fine, no problems. I drove the car home and when i got out the vehicle and tried to use the keypad to lock the doors, it didn't work and actually started the car than the alarm went off. I had to start the engine and shut it back off and manually go and lock all doors because i also noticed the lock door button on the door did not work but the window buttons does. I immediately called them and informed them of the issue that i was experiencing. About 1 week went by and i started to feel the car dragging when trying to accelerate as well as the check engine light and gas cap light coming on. And most of all i noticed how quickly the mileage was moving versus the mileage i signed it at. I also called in and reported what i was experiencing, they suggested i bring in the vehicle to a shop they contract with to see the problem and resolve it. I took the vehicle in on the next available day for me for about 4-6 hours, i was called back to pick the vehicle back up. The check engine light and gas cap light was off but nothing else as far as the electrical problem within the car, and the dragging feeling as well as the mileage troubleshooting. I wasn't satisfied with the work that was done, so i called again to report the troubles and request for a refund because i was not satisfied with the vehicle and how high the mileage goes when i only drive 25 miles back and forth 6 days a week. I've had the vehicle for 8 weeks now, and this car maintenance is poor as well as i have a strong feeling the cars been tampered with because of the damage to one of the vents in the car on the dash board, as well as the car needing an oil change already and i only had the vehicle since march 20, 2020.

The left tail light fixture has accumulated approximately 7.25 inches of water/moisture in side of it.the right tail light fixture has accumulated approximately 2.75 inches of water/moisture in side of it.the left running, brake and turning signal lights are still functioning properly, but the reverse light (the only one completely covered with water/moisture) does not.the right running, brake, reverse and turning signal lights are still functioning properly (none are covered by water.

Car stalled on highway. No warning just cut off. Had to tow it to dodge

2012 dodge caliber been having problems with the throttle control, car will not drive, it jerks it you try to change gears. This has been a problem for these cars for years, and it seems the company will not look into it, not only 2012 models but later models too. This is an expensive job, and the consumer has to pay the price.

My oils and fluid levels were fine. I have about 74,000 on my vehicle, and just had a recent oil change about 300 miles or so ago. While driving around 35 mph on a local street, my vehicle''s check engine light and abs light came on. The steering went out and i immediately lost the ability to steer or maintain speed. I coasted my vehicle into a wendy's. I immediately restarted my car, and made it into the parking lot before losing the ability to steer and manage my speed, again. I managed to get it the 2 miles or so home.i got it towed, and i am waiting to hear from the dealership.

The contact owns a 2012 dodge caliber. While driving 30 mph, the contact noticed an abnormal burning odor coming from the engine. The vehicle started smoking and then ignited into flames near the engine. There were no warning indicators prior to the fire. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed by the insurance company, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.

Engine cradle rusted out after only 7years

Was driving and lost all power when the lightening bolt light came on.had the throttle body replaced and was fine for a few months.now the light keeps coming on again and i've taken the car to the dealer at least 15 times and they keep relplacing different sensors and wiring. I have spent thousands of dollars for an issue that will not go away and no one can seem to figure out what the real issue is because everytime they 'fix' one thing it seems to bring up other codes.

Ignition key can be removed from any position.drive, neutral, reverse or any.this lets vehicle key be removed without being in park position.the 2012 dodge caliber can just roll away.caught car a few times rolling.now had a very recent serious crash.it was sitting behind house and rolled down a steep hill through trees, with body damage.it was stopped by trees and winched out of the woods.did not hit neighbors house below and no one was in the car to be injured.

I recently bought this car from northtown dodge in buffalo ny in jan of 2019. As the weather got warmer my transmission overheated lite comes on. I can't drive more than 50 miles tops with out it over heating. I'm the second owner. I am financing this car and can only drive it locally. I've also read that there is a lifetime warranty for the powertrain only if your the original owner. The car only had 64000 miles on it and it has 69771. So please help me with this issue i am a disabled veteran and this car is my only means of transportation.

Mt 2012 dodge caliber had a roll away incident on 9/6/2103 when parked in a driveway.it rolled and then dove down a very steep hill with trees which eventually stopped the car rolling down the hill.the manufacturer defect has been diagnosed as a failure of the shifter assembly. There are a number of late model cars under recall because of shifter assembly defects and potential for 'roll away'.the car remains at the dealership, not safe to drive, awaiting a new shifter assembly and cable on order.chrysler was contacted about warranty defect and took two weeks to respond by letter and declines participation with any costs associated with this incident.letter is a contradiction saying all sysrems were found to be operating properly but noted a problem with the ignition switch the dealer should repair.roll away can have very serious consequences.

My dodge caliber 2012 sxt still under warranty had a failed manufacturer component, the 'shift interlock assembly' which controls drive, park, reverse, nuetral and all transmission settings.vehicle was parked on blacktop area behind my house and rolled forward.it plunged headfirst down a steep hill hill crashing through back yard forest. Trees eventually stopped the vehicle.neighbor's houses and a public road were at the base ofhill.the vehicle was unoccupied.tied car off to a tree to prevent roll over.car is now at a dodge dealership.chrysler corporation is sending an 'independent' chrysler inspector who then sends a damage report to chrysler.then a'special investigation' will follow.no estimate on when chrysler may respond.ongoing lack of urgency in chrysler corporation response cannot be penetrated.car was in the woods for 2 days and now in shop for the 3rd day. Dealership has been accomodating and provided a rental car for 5 days.the manufacturer safety component that failed creates great potential for injury and damage.

My drivers side seat belt automatically unlatches itself. I don't have to be doing anything. I give it tug every time i buckle to make sure it fasten. But while driving it will on it's on come unlatched and released. It has happened while driving and just sitting at red light. I immediately refasten it but this has happened enough time to raise concern if i would be safe in the event of an accident.

My caliber was moving straight down a city street and was rear-ended. The ahr in the headrests deployed on both front seats. The auto body shop that repaired the car could not reset the headrests, even though they've done it on other cars before. We cannot get them back into position either. Dodge avengers that were made the same year as our caliber were recalled for this reason, but the caliber was not included. We cannot drive the car without our heads being pushed forward unless we put the seats back farther than i feel is safe. I have the accident report and all associated papers if they are needed. Today, we took the caliber in for a different recall and asked the dodge dealership if they would also fix the headrests, but they said they would not since it's not a part of the current recall.

I notice where ever my car has been parked for a couple of hours or more, when i put it in reverse to back up the rear brakes are grinding/rubbing whereas it vibrates the car. Now you may say that the brakes are worn but they're not. I've had them inspected and the pads are good. I've contacted the chrysler dodge co and was given appointment to have this looked at but was told they could find anything wrong. I've ask a coupleof dodge caliber owners and was told they had the same problem, this person had high mileage on their vehicle, even a mechanic who works for dodge said he was having the same problems. If you ask my opinion, i would say that the problem lies with the manufacturer of the brake pads and rotors. Not only when its cold but also when it rains. I'm writing to see if you can check out the dodge calibers and jeeps from the year 2006 - 2012. Thank you very much and i await your reply,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My car currently has 23000 miles on it and still under standard warranty. Within the last month & 1/2 or so they have had to replace nearly everything underneath, all having to do with suspension and steering. Struts were leaking, control arms were replaced, sway bars, stabilizer bar, along with ball joint , and evaporative system. Now being said that this brand new car has had a bad ball joint for quite some miles this could be the reason for everything else to fail!! i have been hearing faint popping/clicking noises since around 10000 miles!! i could have been killed in this vehicle and i still do not feel safe. It is in service once again because of everything that has been damaged! the manufacturer has been slow in responding back to me. Please check into this matter to make sure that other caliber owners are safe! thank you

Local repair shop doing oil change noticed front cross member was rusted out.

Lately i have noticed a wobble when i drive on the highway.saturday, 07/24/2021, i took my 2012 dodge caliber with only 74,753 miles on it to the mechanics for an alignment, rotation and weight balance on the car.this is not my first time at the mechanics and they had seen the car in the summer of 2020 and for inspection november of 2020.the mechanics then took me in to see the car after it was up on the lift which is never a good thing.there is a gaping rusted hole in the frame, i did not think to take a picture but i should have.i have been searching online and found a site listing over 70 reports of rusted frames on dodge caliber and all reports state this is not covered under warranty or the warranty expired.https://www.carproblemzoo.com/dodge/caliber/frame-rust-problems2.php based on the amount of issues, some even reporting wrecking with a complete loss, this should be a safety recall.as it is the mechanic has given me a starting estimate of $1800 but based on other people's reports they were charged $2k-3k for repairs.i will be contacting chrysler/dodge on monday as i do not relish the thought of this level of repair financially for something that should be built to last 100+k miles!

Per the x69 warranty notice i had the crossmember replaced. The dealership states that dodge does not cover the alignment that is needed due to the crossmember repair. The repair of the defect caused the need for the alignment. This seems to be a scam

The structure/frame in the front of our 2012 dodge caliber was so rusted that it broke while we were driving. The frame broke when we pulled off of the interstate and stopped at the end of an exit. This issue has not been addressed by a recall, b ut a bulletin has been released.

Caught fire while driving with my 2 nephews in the car ( ages 7 and 9) smelled electrical burning, pulled into parking lot away from other cars and people, grey smoke was coming from drivers side hood and wiring harness had dropped from engine compartment and was on fire. 2 mins later the entire engine compartment went up in flames.

When braking the electric throttle control light flashes momentarily. It does not stay on. The car does not brake completely at these times and continues to accelerate and move forward another foot or two despite pressing the brake. When braking today the car continued to accelerate faster while the foot was on the brake. In researching this, it seems the caliber specifically has a history of etc or electric throttle issues. Years affected by this safety issue include 2007 through 2012; but there is no official recall from dodge. This is a recall necessary issue! the essential function of acceleration and braking are non compromise areas of vehicle design that dodge has done little to address in the caliber model.
