The lights come on when the seasons change and the car is warmed up. The alarm goes off usually when it is windy. The airbag light is the most common. It can also go on when parked and car is running. As the years have gone on, it's been less predictable. Occasionally there isn't any power when i plug something into the console, too. I've had the dealer look at it multiple times but they haven't found anything. Sometimes they don't even write it up when i'm having something else repaired. All the dealer has told me is that my airbag is disabled when the light is on. When the alarm goes off, it doesn't want to be shut off. It takes a lot of tries sometimes to get it to stop.the traction control is the newest thing. That's been only for the last year or so.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle hit a bump and the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to john elway's claremont chrysler dodge jeep ram (620 auto center dr, claremont, ca 91711, (909) 962-7462) where the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 166,000.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber.while attempting to yield to the left, the contact's vehicle was struck by another vehicle on the front driver's side.the vehicle was completely destroyed and none of the air bags deployed.the contact suffered moderate injuries.a police report was filed.she has pictures of the failure.the contact called the manufacturer and is waiting for a response.the failure and current mileages were 5,500.
While traveling at very slow speed (was navigating thru parking garage), while making a left turn, the passenger side-curtain airbag deployed (no one was in the right-front seat at the time). There was no impact/crash (not even a bump), the airbag just deployed by-itself. Contacted fiat/chrysler. They sent an investigator/inspector from houston (2 hours away). To download bosch airbag computer data, and inspect the vehicle. Investigator spent two hours taking hundreds of pictures, measurements, etc. Note: seat belts did not lock, as we are told they are supposed to do on airbag deployments. Finally, after requesting multiple times (as owners manual says we are entitled to, fiat/chrysler provided info downloaded from airbag computers with cdr (crash data report, even tho there was no crash). We understand the airbag deployment event should have been recorded. After 3 months of the vehicle sitting, not being driven, the report says there was [no events recovered]. So... It sounds like the airbag computer didn't know the airbag deployed, but the airbag/srs light on the dash, remains illuminated, with no idea, whatsoever, caused the airbag to deploy. Fiat/chrysler's official response: the vehicle is out of warranty and we can render no more assistance with the matter.
After getting misleading directions and going down an unknown road and ending at a stop sign, the driver of the vehicle waited a couple minutes before deciding to pass through the stop sign across the intersection. Upon passing on of the lanes of traffic where there was a vehicle at the top of the hill which gave me more than enough time to get across the road and out of nowhere a vehicle came from the right side and struck my vehicle full speed at the front end of the vehicle. Upon seeing the vehicle last minute my driver hit the breaks to prevent much worse injury and the vehicle hit us and the passenger was then jolted back toward the passenger door and face struck the window and nose was broken in the process. Not one airbag deployed at point of impact, therefore, all three passengers suffered whiplash injuries, one almost breaking her neck, one broken nose, and knee bruising. The vehicle at the moment is being appraised at the moment but everything under the hood shifted to the driver's side and is loose including the battery and the right front tired is severely damaged with the shock sitting on top of it.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated the vehicle stalled while driving 45 mph and made an abnormal nosie. When the failure occurred, the electronic throttle body control warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle exhibited the same failure listed in nhtsa campaign number: 08v528000 (power train). The failure mileage was approximately 121,000.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that the key was difficult to turn over to start the vehicle. Also, the steering wheel was extremely tight and difficult to turn when the vehicle was in motion. While driving various speeds, the vehicle would stall without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the tipm failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 166,500.
I'm not sure what is happening. All of a sudden it won't keep a charge. I have put two batteries and 3 alternators on. All done by mechanics. They said it was something electrical. I have ran out of money due to an illness and can't drive my car. I would like to get it fixed but will have to waita while. I do live my car and it was fine and just started draining the battery and ruining alternators. My car was just sitting in my driveway and was dead and had to get a jump to go to work. This has been since may of 2018. Thanks for reading this.

Every now and then we will be driving the vehicle and the windshield wipers will stop working. I check all the fuses and everything seems good but they stop. The only way to get them back working is to remove the negative battery post from the battery for 10 minutes. I done research and they were saying something about the tipm module. We are concerned for our safety. All this happened in brevard, nc pulling into ingles.
It was raining and as it was raining my car started to blink all lights and started slowing down no mechanic can seem to figure out what was going on but as i was driving every warning light started going crazy the tachometer went crazy and so did my speedometer eventually my car started to slow down even though it the accelorator was pushed to the floor. And than eventually it just stopped all together when i tried turning the car back on.the started wouldnt engage and the engine would start till i put unhooked the battery and hooked it back in. This has happened on several occasions 12/25/2016 6/15/2017 and again today 11/3/2017 this has happened several times when my father owned the vehicle as well before i purchased it from him.
I go my 09 loved it but now i have no dash lights, my turn signals in the rear don't work, my driverside head lamp don't work. I've read everything there is on these types of problems. An most of them are in whom ever the designerror was of the computer board in the dash. And the tipmfor the lights.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start several times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the tipm was replaced, but the failure recurred. While traveling approximately 50 mph, the abs light illuminated, the cruise control failed to work and was unable to be reset. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
Electric fault started a fire under the hood resulting in all components to completely burn.a burning smell started while i was driving, i checked the temperature gauge and the needle was under the coldtick.i continued driving to the nearest parking which took about 1 minute and smoke was already coming out visible from the hood.i don't live in the us, so statae, zip code and phone numbers i entered are dummy. I live in the uae, abu dhabiphone: 0091502124224
Car electrical has issues flickering interior and exterior lights. Also has transmission overheating issues without the transmission temperature gauge going over the middle line of the gauge. No sigh of over heating besides transmission light turning on and going into limp mode. Can not drive longer then an hour without it going into limp mode with transmission light on. Started when it was barely at 10,000 miles.
I bought my 2009 dodge caliber brand new in july 2009.i made my decision based on the 5-yr powertrain warranty, assuming the car must be mechanically dependable.well needless to say, i was wrong for making that assumption.i began to have serious mechanical problems within the first 2 years of owning the car.i replaced the battery 3 times, had a tune-up at 65,000 miles and replaced the alternator twice after the dealership informed me that my warranty would not cover any repairs since the car had over 36,000 miles on the engine and that i would have to pay $100.00 for a diagnostic check to see if the powertrain warranty would cover a repair for my car to run.since this car was myonly transportation to and from work and living paycheck to paycheck, i had no choice but to attempt repairs with the battery and alternator replacements just to make it to work and be able to pay my mortgage and car note.those repairs seem to work at first until 2 weeks after the second alternator replacement, when i was driving home from work on the interstate when my car suddenly lost power and i managed to make my way to the shoulder.it was turning dark and my hazard lights were no longer visible due to the battery being drained.i was on side of the interstate in dark freezing weather for at least an hour before a co-worker could find me to help me to safety.i returned the car to the finance company.
I notice a few after my car inspection, water was in my driver tail light housing. Housing was drained. After about 2 month my daughter ask what that dark looking stuff was in my driver tail light housing was. Of course it was water again, and the lights stop working. Please fix this problem soon. Thanks
Mil light is on - taken for service 3-times - dealer states the tipm box is faulty, causing the vehicle to stall out - which it did while i was driving causing a very dangerous situation, as the vehicle was in motion on a busy street, approaching an intersection. Car had to be towed.

I have been having intermittent starting problems for 5 months. I turn the key and the car is dead or it attempts to turn over.usually after 6 - 8 tries it will start, twice i have been stranded because it would not start at all. I have had witnesses in the car with me when it happens and others who have driven the car have had the same problem.chrysler dealers refuse to attempt to fix the problem as they have not been able to get it to fail at their site.it has been in and out of service for over 20 days since june.chrysler group says they will refund part of the repair costs if "i" can identify the problem.they apparently cannot identify it.the car now has 31,750 miles on it.i no longer drive it because it is unreliable.so i have a $17,775 car which i made payments on for 4 years which is useless.i would appreciate any help you can offer.i am desperate.i cannot afford to buy another new car right now.
The recall u havethat u say has not effected mine has. I've already put a new engine in the car and a gas tank, all the lines and now the car is still shutting off/down on its own. The recall is exactly wat the mechanic says needs done and he doesn't have the equipment to do the repair. No advanced read out machinery to change or reprogram. I need this recall on mine. There's no way u got every one that was recalled. Like i said jeff bradley is the mechanic that's fine all the work the new motor the gas tank and lines, and now it's still shutting down. There is no dash lights that cone n at all
I bought this car brand new. The abs warning light illuminated about two years ago at about 10000 miles. The current mileage is 16,000. A mechanic said the code indicated low voltage to the abs motor. The battery voltage was good. The dealer and another mechanic said the repair would be around $600 so i did not repair it.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. While driving highway speeds, the vehicle began to decelerate from 60 to 30 mph without warning. The contact discovered that if the vehicle was turned off and restarted and the accelerator pedal was pressed, the vehicle would accelerate with no issues for a while before the failure would recur. The dealer diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The certified mechanic diagonoised that the pcm needed to be replaced and the dealer verified the diagnosis. The pcm was not repaired. The manufactuer was made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
Vehicle wouldn't start.wouldn't turn over.lights and radio worked.battery, starter, alt, fuses all okay.replaced tipm.worked for 2 weeks and the problem started all over again.have had this problem over and over since 2014.we were given a 'key' to try to start the car from outside under the hood when this happened.it worked sometimes, but not always.it's been towed again today for the same reason(9/9/15).we've owned many dodge vehicles over the years and never had problems like we have with the 2009 caliber.we had given this car to our daughter to drive for college and it has left her stranded many, many times.i'm concerned for her safety.
1. 2009 dodge caliber sxt, while driving, the electric door locks will unlock and then lock themselves. This happens at any speed, in town or on freeways.dealer has had car 7 different times, and is unable to repair or even see the fault, although he has on different occasions found fault codes for stuck door lock switch.dealer currently has car to try to determine the faults.main door lock switch (drivers side) replaced by dealer.wiring harness repaired by dealer due to dealer installed after market alarm system incorrectly installed. Dealer has replaced the instrument cluster.problem is still there -i am concerned for my wife's safety, as she drives home from work after dark, and on occasion, she is unable to electrically re-lock the doors - even to the extent of having to pull over, manually push all door locks down, only to have them pop up again before she gets home.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact was driving 75 mph when the transmission warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced a valve that was outside of the transmission. This failure recurred on many occasions. The manufacturer was notified who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 70,000. The consumer stated she has encountered numerous transmissions problems with the vehicle failing to accelerate. The transmission would slip and cause the vehicle to decelerate. At times, it was difficult to reach a safe speed when merging onto the highway.the deceleration has now started at a much lower speed. When it occurred, the transmission light illuminated. The consumer stated each time she experienced a failure, she would have to pull over, turn the vehicle off and sit for 15-45 minutes to wait for the transmission to cool off. The transmission valve was replaced, but the problem continued.updated 08/08/12the consumer stated there was a noise coming from the front of the engine.the dealer found the alternator bearings were causing the noise. They replaced the alternator. Updated 08/09/12
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the engine stalled and the door latch failed. The vehicle was able to restart after several attempts. In addition, the check engine and fuel warning lights illuminated. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The mechanic stated that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
2009 dodge caliber. Consumer states smell of gas leak and melted wires going to the fuel pump.*tgwthe wires also melted a hole in the fuel lines. The repair shop replaced the melted wires and the fuel pump.

After 60 minutes driving at highway speeds the engine revs rise but speed falls. Transmission overheating warning comes on although the temperature has not risen very much. Car has to be stopped and needs to wait 20 minutes for temperature to return to "normal". Dodge dealer cannot diagnose the problem as they will not take a long test drive.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that the service engine warning light illuminated intermittently and the vehicle stalled on several occasions. The contact was able to restart the vehicle but the failure persisted and progressively worsened. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
Vehicle automatically slows down at speeds of 60 to 70 mph when car is driven for a minimum of 3 hours.feel this is very dangerous.example:driving with my grandchildren on expressway; temperature light came on, car lost power and slowed down to 45.called wrecker, towed to a dodge dealer,. They found nothing wrong.vehicle does this on a continual basis.speeds of 60 to 70 mph while traveling for a minimum of 3 hours.very dangerous on expressways.had my grandchildren with vehicles coming up on me at 70, had my father in the car a couple of times.when it comes on now, i pull off road, wait 30 minutes or so and then continue on my way which affects my long distance trips. Called dodge website (?) they said to take it in to a dealer when it does this.i do take it in and they can't find anything wrong.please help me, this car is used on long distance trips.this is a very dangerous car and hope it is recalled before someone is seriously injured.if it is not a car to be driven long distance than they should recall everyone of them!thank you.i hope you can help me.

For the last 3 years i have had trouble with the car loosing acceleration after driving it for a period of time. At first it would go several hours but now i can't go for a 30 minute drive and over 70mph before it looses acceleration on the highway. I will be driving and then the rpm's race all the way to the maximum, the temp. Gauge comes on and it looses power. I can put the pedal to the floor and it won't go anywhere. I have to sit and wait for it to 'cool' off which is crazy since it's not over heated. This can take anywhere from a half hour to an hour each time. When i try to start out again after it's set, i can go another mile before it happens again and i start all over. I have had it to several mechanics and they can't find anything wrong. They don't have the time to take it out on a drive like that to have it happen to them. It's a hazzard and i've been almost rear ended a few times by semi's and other cars. This car is very unsafe but it's all i have. I now have a piece of something hanging from the undercarriage and the front end is very loose. This is a death trap yet when i call the company, nothing is done. So glad they stand by their product. At the bottom of this complaint it asks when it happened, it happens every time i get on the highway so there's no specific date, all the time.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. While driving long distances, the vehicle overheated and the check engine indicator illuminated. After waiting thirty minutes, the vehicle operated as designed. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 176,417.
First time happened noted above.was driving from ohio to mi to take my grandchildren home.lost speed on major highway doing 70 mph.car went down to 45 and i was just about rear ended by a semi.i was in pure shock and didn't know what was happening to the car.i kept going because i could not pull off.got to exit, read book, waited and waited for it to cool down so i could drive.wouldn't...got to grandchildren's home, called crown motors in holland mi.they stated they could not find anything wrong, no codes, etc.the car was still sluggish when the wrecker picked it up and towed it to them. It has happened 4 times since then, and when i call to make a complaint, they have said:"take it to the dealer when it is doing it"not possible.this car is unsafe to drive.please help me.i take it in and nothing is found.it makes and is still making a high whinning, wheezing or whatever noise in the engine just before the vehicle starts to loose speed.i am not a mechanic, but is something sticking in this.please help me.i am afraid to drive any more than 2 hours in this vehicle. Thank you so very much for helping me!!!

The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. When the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle would not accelerate more than 5 mph and an unknown warning sensor illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body and throttle control failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and filed a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Speed sensors, inner/outer tie rods, hub assembly, radiator, intake valve, tires were different sizes, more problems arose.
The car will stall and not take off after being stopped at a light for too long . Will shut off as well along with throttling as if it wants to shut off
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for an unrelated failure and they discovered that the engine cradle support mount was completely rusted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 96,702.ma 10/29/2015updated 10/11/2017
When driving for long distance with two or more in car, transmission overheats and slows car until it cools. It will not cool unless stopped and shut off. This takes about 20 minutes.
Driving over 2 hours on highway (highway interstate 81) (route 80 ) (new jersey turnpike)engine starts whining rpms rise over 4 & stay, speed drops to 25-30mph can't get up incline transmission overheat light comes on, had to pull over my son almost got killed because car had no power had to let car sit for an hour, this has happened 5 times car has been towedto 2 dealerships1st dealership(zimmerman dodge sunbury, pa) couldn't find a problem 2nd dealership(salerno-duane summit,nj) replaced the computer, car still has the same problemcar is now being towed to 3rd dealership(nichols dodge burlington,nc)69,000 miles on this car this car is very unsafe to drivethis has happened at least 5 times july 2014 , october 2014 , april 2015 july 2015 , october 2015,
Front subframe severely rusted and broken

I bought my car used in june of 2014 and thought it was in pretty decent shape at the time, little did i know. I was driving my car (2009 dodge caliber) and hit a small pothole and heard some rattling afterwards. I assumed it was maybe a clamp on my exhaust and so wasn't real worried about it and figured i would have my mechanic check it out in a week of so. I got concerned after a couple days because the rattling turned into clunking. I sent it to my mechanic and he said there was major rot on the engine cradle which was rotted and broken and both front control arms were no good and sway bar bushings also needed replacing, two days before this noise i was on the highway traveling at speed limit, had this all fallen apart i could have been killed. The cost to repair all the parts which were, as far as my mechanic is concerned, faulty and should be recalled, was $1920.13 !!! this car is 6 years old with 86,000 miles on it and should not have the rot in these places as severe as it is. I know on the dodge caliber forums many owners have similar problems with the major front end parts rotting. This is a major problem and i wouldn't even have noticed had my mechanic not put it on a lift and looked at it and even then once he took off the engine cradle to replace it he noticed the rotted parts that were covered by the cradle, thank god i didn't lose control and get killed as i travel a lot on the highway, this problem needs to be brought to light and caliber owners need to have their mechanics check out their cars before someone's engine falls out and they get killed. When i purchased this car it was most likely rotted pretty bad and i didn't know that was a defect in them at the time. I see lots of these cars for sale still on lots, people need to have the front ends inspected thoroughly before they purchase one .
I rented a dodge caliber from dollar rent-a-car in hartford, cn on friday. Jan 29, 2009.on the third trip in the car, on jan 30, i parked it, removed the key, set the parking brake, and started to walk away from the car.to this point, all was normal. Then, the car started up on its own, and the motor continued to run.the car continued to run for 20-30 minutes regardless of what i did with the key.the key did not have a remote ignition switch.i eventually contacted dollar, and after about 20 minutes, while i was sitting in the car with the motor running and the keys in my hand, the car stopped running, without any intervention on my part.while nothing serious happened, it is easy to speculate that if the car had been parked in an enclosed garage, it could have filled with fumes.the car also might have kept running till it ran out of gas.i did not make careful note about the specific car, but the records should be held by dollar rent-a-car.
Car started falling apart at around 48ktie rods.control arms.struts.bushings.ball joints. Bearings. Sway bar links.lateral arm bushings.upper control arm bushings.upper tow links. Front strut mounts. My latest repair bill (today) is 1500.00 and the car has only 60k on it.the catalytic converter is also slated for replacement as soon as the dealer gets it in. I am a very conservative driver and always keep my car serviced.i bought this car brand new. The suspension on this car is a menace. The blower motor also went at 48k (a safety issue in my northern mn winters) and the rear defroster only has two or three lines that work. The power steering unit is also losing fluid and i will have to have that repaired as well. I am more than happy to provide a print out from firestone auto repair.
In june of 2013 while driving down i-75 heading up north, my temp light came on, the temp gage never moved past the normal range (directly between cold and hot) after i noticed the light i was watching the temp gage and my car just shut down. I lost all power, speed, steering, everything. Thankfully i was already in the right hand lane and i was close to an exit so that i could exit the highway. I called the dealership where i got the car and they had no idea what happened. After sitting for an hour i was able to drive back downstate.i got the car april 1 2013. In december of 2013 the lightning bolt popped up on my dash, i have no clue what that means since my car did not come with an owners manual when i got it used.the rpms jerked up to 4, then dropped back down. This happened roughly 10 times over the past year. In august of 2014 the car began to jerk like it was having a hard time getting into gear. At first it only happened at stop signs and red lights, then it began to do it while i drove. Anywhere between 10 to 60 mph. Normally it would only do it a couple a times and then it began doing it every time the car was running. I took it to the local dodge dealership, they checked it on the computer and even test drove it, according to them it didn't do anything while they were driving it and since the check engine light doesn't come it the computers didn't pick up any issues.also have a hard time getting the key out of the ignition after i shut off the car.
My mechanic and multiple others have stated that the intake runner is stuck and the intake needs to be replaced making it impossible to receive emissions on my vehicle. When in drive waiting at red lights and also to turn on multiple occasions my vehicle lost complete power, shutting off almost causing accidents. Luckily accidents were avoided.
I had been driving approximately one hour when i began to climb the incline over sb 5 fwy (grapevine) and the engine began whining, rpms rose to 4 and remained there, the transmission overheat dashboard light illuminated, speed dropped to about 30 mph and i was unable to continue up the incline.had to pull off and let the vehicle sit for 30 minutes at which time i continued up the incline making sure that the rpms did not go above 2.5 - so keeping the speed low - and had no further incident.this happened again on 8/21/04, same circumstances, at approximately 79,000 miles.there was a recall on this model and model year vehicle for this same issue (recall #08v528000) on november 10, 2008, but according to my dealer, my car's vin was not included.i believe this warrants investigation into whether or not this was a more widespread issue than was originally thought and whether my vehicle should have been included in the recall.
The car started having stalling problems less than a year after purchase. Stalling problems are more common during rainy periods but could happen at any time. Most incidents happen while car is on idle, no movement, in the highway or at a red light. The car will vibrate and immediately stall or try to. Car has been taken to dealer under warranty but no reason for the stalling has been found; car is still under warranty. No recall notice is available at the dodge personalize website. This car was bought at the military exchange new car sales in puerto rico but apparently was relocate from oconus europe and i am no sure how possible recalls will apply to this car. There is a nhtsa campaign id number: 08v528000 but i do not now if it applies to this car.

I notice a few after my car inspection, water was in my driver tail light housing. Housing was drained. Thanks
Car shaking while driving engine light on and dash lights keep flashing
When i turn on my signals to make a turn, one of my headlights goes out. Sometimes at night it's difficult to see where i'm turning into. Also sometimes when i turn my car on and turn on my headlights, they won't turn on. But when i put my in reverse and drive, they turn on. I got stopped friday night because the police officer said my headlights were out and when i tested them out they wouldn't turn on while i was sitting still. I took them to goodyear the next day and told what was wrong. They checked them out and said that nothing was wrong and everything was working right. Hazardous night time driving.
I go my 09 loved it but now i have no dash lights, my turn signals in the rear don't work, my driverside head lamp don't work. I've read everything there is on these types of problems. An most of them are in whom ever the designerror was of the computer board in the dash. And the tipmfor the lights.

2009 dodge caliber presented problems at 7,166 miles, brand new. I was driving while suddenly without warning the car stalled. It had to be towed. I took it to the chrysler dealer for service and i was told the power train control, the totally integrated power module and the evaporative detector systems needed to be replaced. Two weeks later, i had to take the car back to the dealer because of the same problem, while driving the vehicle stalled in the middle of the highway. Then the battery presented corrosion, the dealer made me pay for the services, they didn't honor the warranty. After that the car kept having problems with the new battery that it was replaced by the chrysler dealer. After that, the car was towed again, it was took to the dealer again and the pcm was replaced again, but the part came in and it didn't work, my car was on the dealer for over 2 months because de pcm sent by chrysler was a defective part, so i needed to keep waiting. Another pcm was ordered andthey made me pay over 2,000 dollars for repairs; and after two weeks out of the dealer, the car started to have the same problems again. This car was defective from day one, having problems with the pcm, tipm and all the electric systems and detector evaporative system and the chrysler dealer doesn't want to honor any warranties, and has not been able to fix any problems. This 2009 dodge caliber was defective since it was manufactured by chrysler. It is to risky to drive a car that without any warningstalls in the middle of the highway, it is also a big safety issue, it is dangerous, and the chrysler and its dealers should be responsible and extend the recall and respond to many customers who bought this car thinking it was a reliable car, with a good warranty that now they refuse to honor. Please investigate!
2009 dodge caliber. Consumer states smell of gas leak and melted wires going to the fuel pump.*tgwthe wires also melted a hole in the fuel lines. The repair shop replaced the melted wires and the fuel pump.
Car seems to rev at a fast speed. Had to use both feet on the brakes to slow it down to about 25 mph then put it in park until the vehicle regulated itsself
On may 7th, 2016 i was involved in an accident. My car stalled and no matter what i did, pressing, pumping, or mashing, my brakes would not slow or stop the car. Now, my car has done this in the past usually right as i am coming to a full stop. The first month i owned the car, i casually told the service writer at my local dealership about it and they said not to use cheap gas. I told them that i use gas from shell, not cheap gas. Then it would happen again, i would mention it again, being told about using cheap gas. Which again, i told them i don't use cheap gas in my car.i believe my accident was caused by the issue listed in nhtsa campaign number: 08v528000.
The car will stall and not take off after being stopped at a light for too long . Will shut off as well along with throttling as if it wants to shut off
I was driving on a highway going about 60-65 mph when my car began to resist ( pull back) as i was trying to cut over a few lanes the speed dropped dramatic to 5pmh and soon as i was able to veer off the highway it completely shut off in the middle of driving. Good thing i was able to get off the road. And i had to get it towed home. Get home the car would start but there was no driving power no speed. Tried to back the car up would not push past 10rpm. I had to get it towed to a macanic said the throttle body was the issue. I read many complaints on google about dodge calibers having this issue as soon as it hits 80+thousand miles on it. I see that many cars have been on recall except the calibers?
1. 2009 dodge caliber sxt, while driving, the electric door locks will unlock and then lock themselves.

Transmission overheated and went into limp mode repeatedly during a road trip in summer of 2017 on the freeway. Flushing and replacing filter fixed the problem for about 10 months. June of 2018, complete transmission failure. Took it to aamco, and they rebuilt it for $2800. Fixed the issue again for about a year. Failed again june of 2019, took it to aamco again, and this time they replaced the transmission under warranty. Three days after getting it back from the shop, the transmission has started to overheat and go into limp mode yet again.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. While driving 55 mph, the transmission warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The failure recurred on many occasions. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 179,000.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The failure recurred five times. The vehicle was taken to dealer where it was diagnosed that theengine cradle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.
While driving my vehicle to work, the vehicle failed to go above 30 mph while accelerating, and a loud clunking noise began under the hood. I brought vehicle to the nearest mechanic who indicated it was a transmission issue and to bring to a dealer. There is no dodge dealer near me that would tow the vehicle and the tow would have been at my expense, so i towed the vehicle for free to the dealer whom i purchased the vehicle and they diagnosed a major mechanical failure with the cvt transmission. Chrysler has been contacted, however they are being difficult to work with due to the vehicle not being at a dodge dealer. There is no repairing the transmission it can only be replaced at a cost of over $4000! the vehicle only has 65000 miles.
Driving the car with a/c on for about an hour and half down the interstate when the illumination light turned on in dash panel. The car started to lose acceleration and would not go over 50mph, by the time i pulled off at next exit the car would go not faster than 20mph, and was accompanied by a loud whinning noise coming from engine. Car sat for 30 minutes cooling off. Turned on car and light was off. Started down highway again 30 minutes later light came back on pulled over again, turned car off, waited 30 minutes. Turned on car and light was off. This happened in september 2009, april 2013, and again july 1st, 2013. $1,600 later of trying to fix different things because dodge didn't know what was the matter with it and 3 trips to dodge dealership, "they can't duplicate the problem". I am a woman and can not be stuck on the side of a highway so the car i haven't paid dodge off for yet will cool down to drive. I found 219 similar complaints on edmonds.com, and carcomplaints.com. Everyone knows there is something wrong with the transmission. Please issue a recall. Im sure dodge would not let their daughters drive this car out of town on the highway. Better yet, lets not wait until someone is injured in a crash because their car decelerates on the interstate.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that that the vehicle decelerated while the accelerated pedal was depressed. In addition, the engine rmps increased however, the vehicle did not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic was performed, which located the failure at the transmission control module. The manufacturer advised that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number 08v528000 (power train). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 67,000 and current mileage was 68,000.
The car just stopped. I couldn't move rather it was in drive or reverse.
I own a 2009 dodge caliber rt with odo reading 59,300 & my transmission line burst causing $450 in needed repair that is not covered under warranty.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that the transmission warning light was illuminated. The contact made a stop at the shoulder of the road and turned off vehicle for a few minutes. After the vehicle was restarted the warning light turned off. The dealer performed a diagnostic and the computer was replaced. The failure recurred frequently. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was 98,000. The current mileage was 199,820.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated thatthe vehicle stalled without warning. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer and was told that the power train control module had failed. The contact spoke to the manufacturer regarding nhtsa campaign id number:08v528000(power train), but was told that the vehicle was not included. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 90,000.
My car is stuttering/jolting upon putting it in drive & stopping & driving (after stopping @ traffic lights & stop signs). Also, it takes a bit for the car to increase in speed once i'm stopped (@ traffic lights & stop signs) & have to start driving again. This has been noticeable for the past month now.
When driving for long distance with two or more in car, transmission overheats and slows car until it cools. It will not cool unless stopped and shut off. This takes about 20 minutes.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning while driving various speeds. The failure occurred numerous times. A certified mechanic performed a diagnostic, which located a failure code at the power train computer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 08v52800 (power train). The failure mileage was 33,000.
I was driving down the road and the vehicle just stopped. Then when i started it, it would only go 5 miles a hour. Almost caused me to get into a wreck with my 3 yr. Old granddaughter with me. I had a code reader put on it and it reads u0402-implausible data received from tcm.
The cvt transmission is junk. Constantly down shifting itself, even when the cruise is set, and being drove short low speed distances. I'm not the only one complaining. Several people i have talked to that own them have the same problems. Already returned one caliber to the dealer, even after replacing the transmission it did no good. A week later it was right back in the garage
Front subframe severely rusted and broken
When accelerating my vehicle is slow to take off with max speeds of only 50 mph on the freeway and 30 mph city. I have pressed the gas all the way and car is still lagging. The cel stays on and the following diagnostic codes are read p0722 which is trans output speed sensor u1146 which is a communication error p0717 which is input speed sensor 1 circuit no signal p0700 which is transaxle control system malfunction and p0712 which is trans fluid temp sensor low input. I took it to a local shop and they suggested i take it to the dealer to perform a tcm software update and its still doing the same thing even after the codes were cleared. Now a code is read that has to do with a large evap leak. Am i being steered in the wrong direction so that the dealer can avoid honoring the factory recall of the powertrain control module/fuel pump relay nhsta campaign number: 08v528000. My specific vin did not show up as being recalled but i would like to know if my issue can be further investigated. Please help.
This car attempted to kill me twice. First the subframe rotted out due to bad design. We noticed this as the struts were being replaced - also because of bad design. This was noticed in 2014 (on a 2009 vehicle!) cost me over $1,000 to fix - dodge offered no help at all. Later in 2014 - the front drivers side arm separated from wheel, causing wheel to pop off.if i was going any faster than the 10 mph i was going (headed to highway!), i could have been killed. Again contacted dodge and no assistance. They recalled the 2007 but not this model year for these problems. Pictures attached. I hope someone holds this company accountable! cars should not cost thousands of dollars to repair in year 5!!!
I bought my car about a week ago with 100,000 miles on it and the day tree we brought it home when we are driving it will start to go back and forth, like stall/ chug for a split second then go back while in motion, it doesn't matter how slow or fast i'm going it does it whenever i am driving. I can't wait for it to just die and get it fixed i need this fixed now and i can now see after researching there are many 2009 dodge calibers on recall for this issue but mine isn't and i'm confused as to why and need this to be fixed asap.

Speed sensors, inner/outer tie rods, hub assembly, radiator, intake valve, tires were different sizes, more problems arose.
Started out when i drive more than 23 miles, trans. Overheat light comes on, loose power. Going up hills, very little power. Rpm wraps between 3 & 4, normal driving, when stopping car jumps ahead if i hit a bump. Breaks squeak after replacing brand new, now engine overheat light, electronic throttle control light & malfunction indication light on. Had transmission filter and fluid replaced. Lasted 2 weeks. Worse now..
The contact stated that the transmission caused the vehicle to slow down while driving on the highway. The vehicle decelerated from 70 mph down to 20 mph. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the highway before driving back to the residence. The vehicle failed to shift into reverse and jerked without moving backwards. The vehicle was unrepaired and undrivable at the residence. The dealer and manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure mileage was 127,000.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. While stationary during cold start, car cranks and runs, but automatically starts in limp mode with the check engine light on saying transmission overheating and while in motion it will not drive faster than 20 mph. Even on cold days. Been hearing alot about this issue from other owners.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact was traveling between 50-60 mph when the engine rpms increased abnormally. The vehicle also failed to shift gears and accelerate properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer eighteen times. The manufacturer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 9,908 and the current mileage was 30,653.
Transmission over heating on highway.. Front steering and suspension keep needs repaired. Noise in front when turning to the right.
My vehicle for my year has a recall for the transmission power control module, i called to get it sorted out and everyone tells me my specific vin does not match any recalls, ironically my check gone light has come on for this exact reason. I was driving and from what i experienced the car did shut off and i had to restart it on the side of the road.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that while driving, the battery was drained. The battery warning light and the air bag warning light were illuminated. The vehicle was turned off and the contact was unable to restart vehicle. On another occasion, the contact was parked and attempted to drive, but was unable to change the gear from park to drive. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or repair shop for inspection or repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was unavailable. The failure and current mileages were 83,000.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. While driving approximately 25 mph on an incline, the gear did not shift out of first gear and the transmission indicator illuminated. The failure recurred and the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact called larry hillis chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat at 573-785-5769 (located at 3211 n westwood blvd, poplar bluff, mo 63901) and was informed that there was no recall. The technician recommended a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000. *as
The recall u havethat u say has not effected mine has. There is no dash lights that cone n at all
When i started my 09 dodge caliber up one morning . I back up ,then put the car in drive and it hesitated and jump or jolt.it scared me .the engine came on,so i went to a auto parts store down the street from my house to get a reading or codes read on my caliber, it gave me a code about the power train.
I was driving down the interstate when the car decelerate and turned off with no warning.when i tried to turn it back on the power train light was on and indicated that it was over heating.it would not restart. Towed to dealer. Called dodge and they told me to have diagnostics run (my cost). Dealer said there was a recall on the transmission on this model but did not include my vin #. Diagnostic said nothing wrong. Called dodge again they told me to take it to another dealer 50 miles away. It will cost me another +100 to get it checked out. My grandchildren were in backseat car seats. I was on i-95 going towards washington dc in rush hour.if i was in the center lane, i would have been hit by a semi and my grandkids killed.dodge does not care. I am disappointed as i also own a neon and ram truck. I would not recommend it at all.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber.the contact stated that the vehicle was idling very rough and would go up to 30 mph. The contact stated the electronic throttle control light would illuminate on the instrument panel when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was told the electronic throttle control module needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 68,143.the consumer also stated the vehicle presented an issue with the transmission with the authorized upgraded rims and tires. On long trips. The transmission would overheat causing the same result as in depleted performance.updated 12/10/12
Defective power train manufacture had clear knowledge after the car went in product and was manufactured. When car in motion get low squeezing noise on city street or highway. Taking a trip at that time and still having same sound today pls jerking.
The cvt transmission keeps failing. To date, i've had it replaced under the lifetime powertrain warranty four times.once at 17000 miles, again at 92000 miles, again at 117000 miles, and now at 135000 miles.no root cause has been identified, yet each time the same failure mode happens - warm temperature, limp mode, and eventually a screaming sound with no engagement.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that the steering wheel began to shake out of control after the vehicle was turned on. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where a diagnostic test was performed which located the failure within the power train control module. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign recall08v528000 (power train). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 78,000.
The transmission continuously overheats causing the vehicle to lose power.the is no notification other than a light at the time it starts to slow down.at this point you have to maneuver cautiously through fast moving traffic to pull over for about 15 minutes each time.i have almost been in multiple accidents (and almost caused a few) because of the unannounced extreme loss of power.i've taken the car for multiple transmission flushes and filter changes.nothing works and i'm repeatedly told that many calibers are having the same issue but the manufacturer has not created a solution.the vehicle has remained parked for the last 2 years.my daughter took it out for a drive today and was stuck on the freeway twice in a 30 mile trip due to the transmission.i cannot sell or use the vehicle for obvious safety reasons.
Transmission overheats quickly and car loses power.aamco has replaced it numerous times.added external transmission cooler.problem persists.suspension is insufficient for this car.
The cars transmission light came on indacating that the transmission fluid is over 250 degrees and it shuts down to where i cant drive it it jumps and it won't let me accelerate i was going to the dr office out of the town from where i live and it put me out put it on the diagnosict machine at it said tmc moduel i havent had it very long and all and this is the second time it has done it to me
Have not recieved a recall.your site says my car could have a crash without warning.due to faulty adhesive used in powertrain control module and cause printed circuit board to break.i did have vehiclechecked out by singerland ,corunna,mi. 09-30-14.i asked for powertrain results and was told they would be mailed....as of may 2015, i have not received any paperwork.they gave me a vehicle checkup sheet that says my wipers need to be replaced....nothing about a recall on powertrain. Please advise what to do regarding my serious car condition?have not had a crash.your site required dates...thus dates are untrue.
When attempting to drive above approximately 20 mph, the transmission failed and the vehicle was not able to move from first gear. The check engine light illuminated. The contact stated that the k- frame was rusted. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who advised that the contact needed to locate a dealer to have the vehicle repaired. The certified mechanic cleared all the codes for the transmission; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 171,180.
2009 dodge caliber, within 3 months of buying vehicle, as is, started having acceleration problems, brake and suspension problems. Took vehicle to dealer, was informed i needed suspension bar and struts replaced which would cost over $800. About the same time my transmission overheat light started coming on, i loose power and have to pull over on the side of the road for 15-30 minutes before vehicle would drive again. Go approx. 23 miles at a time when same problem occurs. Worse in the summer time. Today, my electronic throttle control light, malfunction indication light and engine overheat light came on and remains on every time i start the vehicle. Vehicle will not accelerate without getting up between 3 & 4 rpm's. Not much power. When hitting a bump or ice at stopping point, vehicle jumps ahead instead of stopping, almost causing me to rear end several times. Tons of complaints about these same issues. Something must be done. I paid $10700 for my vehicle. Cant even afford to get it fixed as repairs are now estimated over $4200. This is not right to do to people...
When the vehicle reaches 3,000 rpms the temperature light comes on and the vehicle seems like it wants to go into neutral the engine light comes on the antilock brake system light comes on.
Transmission noiseloud and slippingihave another 09 dodge caliber making the same noise and very slow to make it up to speed from a stop.
At 43,000 my 2009 dodge caliber's cvt transmission needed to be replaced.dealer won't fix it, called chrysler in may, 2010, was told that they won't fix it.was told that the bearings are bad.not fixable, only replaceable.cost $4,200. There is a 2009 dodge caliber recall regarding a power train module, called chrysler, they told me that it didn't exist.i printed out the recall from the nhtsa website, they still told me that they did not know anything about it. They would not fix it.after repeatedly sending emails and calling chrysler, they finally came to the dealer a year later, drove my car and said, yes, transmission needs to be replaced, but they won't fix it, it is over the 3 yr 36,000, ?it is not worth putting the money into it?,like what?????they won't fix it.i am a single mom with two kids, 20yr chrysler customer and this is how i am treated.on 8/19/2011, transmission died. It is now at a transmission shop, transmission on the ground, can't be fixed, only replaced:cost $4,000.i do not have that kind of money, i either pay for my house or my car, can't do both, and my children can't live in the car, so i decided to make house payments.i will contact the michigan state attorney general's office, i would like to file a class action law suit regarding this cvt transmission that is not repairable, only replaceable at a cost of $4,000.i do not have a car to drive, do not have $4,000. How can they put a major - expensive part into a car, when this part is not fixable, only replaceable?please advise.
Bought vehicle end of february 2009. Did not hear any transmission noise until sometime in may 2009. Transmission noise was getting worse and took vehicle back to dealer to have transmission noise checked out. The dealer's diagnosis was that transmission is making noise when taking off and stopping. The transmission was replaced @ mileage 7371.during month of february 2010 transmission started making same noise again. Took vehicle to dealer to have transmission noise checked out again @ mileage 25882. The dealer's diagnosis was that transmission is noisy and slips intermitantly after i took technicain for a drive and showed the problem.dealer stated that technical service bulletins could not be found for this problem and that chrysler was called and other dealers have called about the same problem.dealer stated that chrysler stated the i should/could drive car for now.
09/2009 vehicle died while driving in middle of traffic towed to dealer, suggested car had an electrical problem and fixed.08/16/2010 vehicle check engine light came on and vehicle was jerking before it died while driving in traffic, towed to dealer suggested transmission was bad and fixed.09/14/2010 vehicle engine would not turn over to start, when started drove 5 miles and stalled in the middle of traffic, towed back to dealer suggested coolant was leaking on the radiator and battery was bad and fixed.09/20/2010 engine, throttle and engine temp light on vehicle died while driving in traffic, towed back to dealer suggesting head gaskets failed and fixed.10/21/2010 engine temp runs hot, overheats, makes tugging sounds and jerks while driving, drove back to dealer suggesting thermostats not opening fully replaced and states the car was sold with a bad engine.11/04/2010 car returned to dealer due to jerking, engine light on, making tugging sounds as you accelerate, winding down sounds when you break and overheating.
I was driving on an interstate highway (at high speed) when it became necessary for me to punch the gas pedal in order to make a lane change.when i did this, the accelerator pedal broke off just below the spring-action pivot point and the accelerator became useless because the spring (which is wired to the engine's accelerator and receives acceleration input from the pedal to which it is attached) was no longer (obviously) attached to the pedal. I was thankfully able to coast to the side of the highway and out of traffic despite having no ability to accelerate at that point.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. While driving approximately 50 mph, the transmission warning light illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle became hesitant to acceleration attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics where the technician replaced the transmission fluid and filter. The failure continued after the repair. The contact added transmission fluid to the vehicle but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the technician advised that the transmission would have to be replaced because the incorrect transmission fluid was used by the contact. The contact stated there was no warning label on the vehicle stating which type or brand of transmission fluid had to be used in the vehicle, nor was there a dip stick to check the fluid. The vehicle was not repaired.

Specifically, in my model safety belt does not have to be securely fastened (i.e., clicked in buckle) in order for chime to stop.this is a no-no.in fact, if i hold the unsecured belt in my left hand while holding the wheel at the same time, the chime will stop.if, however, i let it retract slightly toward the window, the chime will come back on.this should not happen.only when belt is fully buckled should the chime cease.while this does not pose a life-threatening emergency, it certainly is a safety hazard that needs to be further investigated.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. While driving, the seat belt chime was audible when the seat belt was unbuckled. If the seat belt were held approximately ten inches away from the windshield, the chime would stop. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified.
Worse now..
When the vehicle reaches 3,000 rpms the temperature light comes on and the vehicle seems like it wants to go into neutral the engine light comes on the antilock brake system light comes on.
Please note this car has been difficult since i bought it.between the tires, brakes and rotors there have been issues.approximately 6-12 months ago i stopped to put air in my tire as my sensor informed me the tire was low.when i placed the hose on the valve stem the stem cracked in half.this cost me money to fix.now on 11/24/12 i was once again informed i needed air and once again the stem broke, costing me over $100 to fix plus i had it fixed at pepboys as the spare was a donut and didn't want to use it.this cost me $25 but the stem was not the one for the censor. Meanwhile i called the dealer, outten county chrysler, and left a message as they were closed.i setup an appointment and was informed that they have seen this many, many times.to me, personally, i feel this a major issue.i bought a new car to alleviate all the "repair headaches" yet i am still doing it, plus why would simply putting air in the tire cause the valve to break?according to the person at the desk they noted they have seen this problem many times that the valve stems corrode and break easily.to me this is a rip off to me, the consumer and costly at that.please let me know if you need anything else.

The abs sensors in both the left and right rear tire wells are suddenly bad at the same time. This is causing the electronic stability control (esc) to not work properly; sending the car into a skid. Esc is to assist drivers in maintaining control of their vehicles during extreme steering maneuvers. Esc senses when a vehicle is starting to spin (oversteer) or plow (understeer), and attempts to correct the vehicle?s course by automatically controlling the throttle and applying the brakes at individual wheels.
My 2009 dodge caliber has the same issue as the 2007 and 2008 calibers in that the main crossmember in the front steering/suspension has rotted through. The rest of the car is rust free but both the front and rear members have rotted out. This car was in colorado springs for the first 4 years of its life where they do not use salt and moved to vermont after that. At 59k miles dodge will not cover them even though they have replaced them on 2007 models extensively. There are stories of accidents and injuries but dodge is still not being held responsible for the poor quality and premature failure of the inferior steel parts. I have been a tech in the auto and truck industry for 40 years and am disgusted that there are thousands of stories online about these and millions of cars in the 2007-2009 years that are failing. Can we ask that nhtsa call them out on this before there are more accidents. I am afraid that i and thousands of others will have to pay out of pocket for safety issues that is clearly a failure on dodge that they are so far sucessfuly hiding from.issues also include 2007 jeeps and stx vehicles.
Transmission over heating on highway.. Front steering and suspension keep needs repaired. Noise in front when turning to the right.
Subframe rotted away. Causing the drivers side a-arm to rip out. The wheel was at an approximate 90 degree angle from normal position. Caused the driveshaft to pull out of the transmission and the car to immediately stop.
The 2009 dodge caliber was deemed unsafe and unable to pass a maine safety inspection. The front and rear cross subframes were heavily rusted and completely rusted through in several places.
Heard a clunking noise when turning and stopping, got home thinking the strut was broken and found that the sub-frame for engine, sway bar and tire assembly completely rotted and cracked on the drivers side ready to break in two. Car is unsafe to drive. Mileage 91k.
I took my wife's 2009 caliber to our mechanic because she heard clunking noises from the front end. We were informed by our mechanic that a piece of frame stretching across the front of the vehicle is severely rusted. The steering rack and sway bars attach to this frame work. Also front end components. The vehicle makes loud plunking noices when going over small and large bumps and much worse when hitting pot holes. No other rust is apparent on any fram work under the vehicle. This vehicle is only nine years old. I think that's extremely odd for such a young vehicle. I feel this may become a safety issue very soon and think there may have been a recall that i am unaware of.
My son was driving this car to work noticed a severe change to the steering. It cause him to veer into the other lane and luckily there was no other oncoming traffic. He was able to drive it onto work and called me to let me know of the problem. After driving just 10 feet it was obvious that it was un-drivable and unsafe. After calling the towing service they suggested that i call dodge to see if there was a recall since they had already towed other dodges of similar years with a rusted/ broken sub frames. Call local dealer with the vin and ask to if there was any recalls for a broken sub frame. They stated that there was not a recall and did not offer to make a repair even at my cost. I took it to a local service center who had seen the same problem before on other dodges and was familiar with the repair. After $600 for the part and $600 for labor the repair was made on a car with 89,000 miles. While the car was getting repaired i was able to tell a co-worker about the recall for the exact same issue on her 2007 caliber whichi discovered while researching. She was able to get hers repaired with no charge. Contacted dodge and since there is no recall they are not willing to pay for the repair at this point. They know that there is problem so i guess that means dodge stands for dodge responsibility at the cost of the consumer. I not be purchasing any mopar products in the future.
Subframe rusted cracks very dangerous frequent noises!
Lower driver side ball joint failed.
Upon inspection of my vehicle, my mechanic noted that the frame crossmembers were rusted to the point of needing immediate replacement. He stated the car was unsafe and could have caused a major accident.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. While the vehicle was undergoing a routine oil change, the cross members were rotted and the engine could fall out of the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cross members were rotted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle wasrepaired. 09 dodge caliber. Vibration of entire car in what manufacturer calls wind buffeting defect. Start of vibration at 45 to 50 mpr. Back windows rolled down and front window cracked. Car vibrates causing it hard to control vehicle. Salesman and salesmanager stated this was common in all small sedans and compact cars that they carry on lot. Was told to drive vehicle with windows up!they had never experienced this in any test drive. They only drove with all windows down. Took another 09 caliber off lot to see if it would also vibrate; it did the same thing. If nothing else can be done tell manufacturer to make back window that don't roll down (for the kids that ride in back seat).

Sub frame rusted out and lost control of vehicle , almost wrecked
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. While driving at an unknown speed, there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. My 2009 dodge caliber started emitting some terrible sounds while being driven in the city yesterday (10/20/2016).this occurred when turning and driving over anything but smooth road.steering and braking were negatively affected.after stopping i lifted it up to determine the cause of this and found that the driver's side strut tower stabilizer bar had separated from the subframe.the bolts hadn't simply come loose; the section of the subframe to which the stabilizer bar attaches had torn away. There is very little rust on any other part of the car yet i can basically poke holes through the subframe with my finger.
While driving 15 mph and attempting to make a right turn, an abnormal sound emitted from the vehicle. The vehicle started shaking and pulling to the right i brought the vehicle to a body shop to find out what is wrong with the vehicle and was told the frame was rotted. I called my local dodge dealership and they informed me there was no recalls or warranty for the vehicle. Attached is the extended warranty which states this should be fixed under warranty. The cost to fix this issue will cost 1700 dollars thats the price i was quoted. What can i do about this i cant afford to fix it and its unsafe to drive and can cause severe injuries or death if it breaks while driving. If you cant help please help me find the help i need.

Subframe rotten/rusty!!!! i was driving today and my car start making weird cranking noise and it's pulling me to the right. Even though i had the wheel straight it's clearly showing it halfway to the right. It's dragging the front passenger tires and it's hard to control. Took it to an independent mechanic becausethere's no way i can make it home without endangering myself and others. The mechanic showed me that underneath the subframe is all rotten/rusty and falling apart. My car is 2009, it's only 8 yrs old. There's should have been a recall on this. I was surprised to see how bad it gotten. I have no choice but to have it fix.
The engine cradle is rusted through.

The approximate failure mileage was 136,000.
Extreme rust on front subframe. Part is weakened and integrity is doubtful. Mounts lower control arm. Failure would affect suspension, drive train, brakes and result in loss of steering, brakes and power to drive wheels.
Attempted to get a wheel alignment on 12/19/2016 and was informed that the frame/subframe is extremely rusted/corroded and needs repair.
When driving the vehicle started to make unusual sounds coming from the front of the vehicle. Took the vehicle to a dodge dealer for inspection.told that the front cross-member was severely corroded and the vehicle is unsafe to drive. Customer was informed by the dealer that this was covered under an extended warranty from chrysler. Was then told by the dealer that they could not work on the vehicle until the district service manager authorized it. The reason given was that there was additional rust found that would not be covered by the warranty. Informed that this decision could be expected in 2 to 3 weeks. Was then informed that the dealer could not offer and transportation while they waited for a decision. Still waiting.
The k frame is completely rotted from rust.

Took my 2009 dodge caliber in for annual state inspection, failed because of a cracked k member (sub frame) on the left side and loose left tie rod.shop does not do repairs. Took to another repair shop in vermont for a second look.he found that the k membercorroded with holes near the mounting bolt on the k member and corrosion on the lower control arms. He ordered parts to replace the k member and lower control arms. He also replaced the outer tie rod which i had purchased after the failed inspection.steering quicker to left than to the right before taking the car in for the failed inspection
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. When the vehicle was taken to a local dealer for service, the technician noticed that the entire frame was rusted and needed to be replaced. There was no warning indicator. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to cover the cost of the part only. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 85,000.
While making a left hand turn the vehicle right front collapsed forcing me off the road. Fortunately because i was traveling at a very low speed i was able to stop on the shoulder. Had i been traveling on a multiple lane highway, passing another car or at a higher rate of speed there would have been a serious accident.upon inspection i found that the front frame had rusted completely through and collapsed the suspension.it is quite apparent that the frame is poorly designed or constructed. Possibly both. At any rate this is a very dangerous condition that should be addressed. Inotified chrysler in july and other than an acknowledgement have not heard from them. Kindly advise me if there is any action that your organization can take.sincerely,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Heard a loud noise that sounded like a broken spring on my car and took it to my mechanic, where i found out my engine cradle is completely rotted and broken in several places. I drive 30 miles to work on a major freeway, doing 70 - 80 mph 5-7 days a week. If this engine cradle had broke completely during my commute, i would have crashed or flipped my car!! this is beyond a safety concern. I recently got rid of a 1998 vehicle that didnt have even 1/10th this amound of rust on its frame. I undercarriage flush-carwash my car every week minimum during the winter months to avoid longterm salt exposure. And my car is garage parked all the time at home. I transport my small children in this car, and am seriously considering finding a lawyer for a class action suit on this matter. There are a ton of complaints online regarding this issue. A 6 year old car should not be this rotted!!!! i
2009 dodge caliber sxt- a gust of wind hit my door as i proceeded to exit the vehicle. The door hinges exploded, sending a spring into my face, and hyper-extending the door range. The dealer appraised the damage at $600 dollars for replacement of the hinges and cosmetic repair. It will be filed as a warranty claim but it will "most likely be kicked back".

My husband filed a complaint this morning on our 2009 dodge caliber and he also went to talk to people at bob swope ford in elizabethtown, kentucky and they informed him there was nothing they could do about the rusting of the sub frame on our car we have only owned this car foryears and we still are in debt on it ubiquitous frame is so rusty it is about to bust open and it is to dangerous for us to drive him & i both are on disability and we cannot afford to fix this problem i have talked to several people about this problem an we are all in agreement that there is no way this could have rusted that bad in 2 years so there for it had to be like this when we purchased the vehicle. I am not one to complain about anything but i just feel that this is their responsibility go take care of this problem there is no way other wise that we can drive this car and it is my only transportation back ; forth to the dr. And i am also on home oxygen so i need this vehicle to get to and fro i can't trade this one in because we owe to much on it thank you [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
While braking on the exit ramp from the highway i felt a pop under the front of the car. The drivers side lower control arm broke away from the cross member due to a failure of the cross member from excessive rust and corrosion.
The cross member/cradle/module front suspension was completely rusted through in one section and severe rust/corrosion on most of part. The vehicle was stationary and in for routine repair when informed vehicle was unsafe to drive and should be repaired immediately.this issue is a recall for the 2007 dodge caliber.
Upon inspection of my dodge caliber suspension and front undercarriage it was determined that the engine cradle had sever corrosion.the corrosion has created a safety concern regarding the stability of the engine and lower control arms. The car has 58,500 miles. The dealer and fiat chrysler refuse to fix the issue because they stated it's out of warranty. Fiat chrysler has issued a technical bulletin 23-012-14 for front and rear crossmember corrosion (x58 10 years unlimited) for m.y 2007 dodge calibers for the same defect. My 2009 caliber uses the same part number, same part that is being replaced in earlier vehicles for the same problem. The premature corrosion presents a safety concern for the vehicle occupants.the vehicle is becoming unstable while turning corners.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. While driving 3 mph, the vehicle suddenly stopped. After inspecting, the contact noticed that there was a single bolt that attached to the bottom arm which had loosened and caused the front passenger wheel to move outward. The movement of the wheel pulled the driveshaft out of the transmission and stopped the vehicle. The vehicle was being towed to an authorized dealer. The manufacturer had not been notified. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
Upon inspection of my 2009 dodge caliberi was informed that the cross member is almost completely corroded out.while driving at speeds greater than 55 mph there is vibration in the steering wheel. My car will not pass inspection because this car is unsafe to drive. My husband contacted chrysler customer service and we were informed that this year is not recalled so basically there's nothing they're willing to do. Ifthe 2007 was recalled and the warranty was extended for the same problem, why is my 2009 cross member rusted out? because the same parts were used and dealerships never warned customers that this was a huge and expensive problem on these vehicles. What happened to satisfied customers???i'm livid about this. 8 months ago before my vehicle had 50x miles on it, the transmission was replaced. And this car isn't a piece of crap right? made in china??i can't believe the horrible customer service that chrysler utilizes. So are they waiting for a catastrophic accident that kills somebody before they are wiling to fix this problem. We were told when we called that "there's not enough complaints about this issue that would warrant a recall."really????so what's going to happen here is i'm going to contact my attorney and contact the local news. I am definitely not the 1st person with this same issue and safety defect. Chrysler when are you going to step up to the plate and fix your problem with these vehicles before they take the life of innocent people??? i'm disgusted beyond belief!! can you tell???
Took my 2009 dodge caliber in for inspection.front sub-frame / cross member is rotting away and almost rusted.rest of the car has very little rust.called chrysler customer care.dodge is aware of the problem and extended the warranty for the 07 but not the 09 knowing the issue was not resolved.have an appointment at the dealership (who are awesome) to inspect the problem further.
Transmission overheats quickly and car loses power.aamco has replaced it numerous times.added external transmission cooler.problem persists.suspension is insufficient for this car.
Summary:the vehicle was taken to the mechanic thinking there was an issue with the transmission. Mechanic states the the fluid nededed changed and found a front crossmember of the subframe completely rusted apart next to the sway bar. The 2007 model has an extended warranty that was given to extend it 10 years with unlimited mileage for the replacement of the crossmember, but they have yet to do this with the 2009 model. Obviously, the issue has continued with subsequent model years and is absolutely unreasonable to think a vehicle that is 7 years old with no other rust, should have such a serious issue.
Subframe rotted away. Causing the drivers side a-arm to rip out. The wheel was at an approximate 90 degree angle from normal position. Caused the driveshaft to pull out of the transmission and the car to immediately stop.
2009 dodge caliper developed a split sub-frame suspension component due to heavy rust and the rear sub-frame has developed a severe rust and is also in danger of failure. This vehicle has less than 62,000 miles and is currently not operable. This vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle was being driven at the time of failure and had to be towed to a nearby repair shop. Contacted dealer service manager who stated that vehicle has no recalls or extended warrantyā€™s. This incident occurred without any warnings. Please advise!
Customer brought vehicle in for pa state inspection. And front cross-member is rusted out and will not pass inspection. There is 101,000 miles on it, and no other rust on the vehicle. Customer thinks the extended warranty should cover 2007 - 2009 vehicles, because it's the same problem on all these models.it is unsafe to drive.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that the passenger rear tire continued to go flat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who inspected the tires and noticed both front lower control arms needed to be replaced.the manufacturer was notified who stated there was no recall for the failure and offered no assistant. The vehicle was repaired.the failure mileage was 28,822.
Heard a clunking noise when turning and stopping, got home thinking the strut was broken and found that the sub-frame for engine, sway bar and tire assembly completely rotted and cracked on the drivers side ready to break in two. Car is unsafe to drive. Mileage 91k.
The subframe is completely rusted and i have ordered a new one to replace the old one.
Two days ago i realized while driving my car, if i turned right my steering wheel felt as though i had no power steering. Rotating the steering wheel either way, was causing a loud cracking sound. When taken to my mechanic, we came to find the entire rack sub frame was corroded/rusted. They told me i should not be driving the car, because it could break at any minute. The 07 caliber has a recall for the exact same problem. At any moment it could have broke, and caused serious damage/injury. I'm also pregnant so cannot fear my car isn't safer
Rotted out.corroded in 6 years car unsafe.
Subframe rusted cracks very dangerous frequent noises!
The k frame is completely rotted from rust.
Front lower ball joints totally worn and in danger of separating from control arm. This happened before 50,000 miles resulting in excessive inner tire tread wear. Other possible results: loss of steering, suspension and brakes.
The car is difficult to keep on the road while driving at any speed. A loss of control and loud noise felt and heard while driving over small bumps or while turning . After doingmy own under vehicle inspection i noticed that the subframe where the lower control arm mounts was completely rusted through. This wasmy friends son's car and i recommend to him not to drive it because it was very unsafe and that he could loose complete control of the car.
During an inspection by my dealer it was noted that the front subframe was rusted through. The car was taken to a different repair shop where it was determined that the rear subframe was also rusted through. It was determined that this was an ongoing issue that the dealership failed to note during previous inspections. Allowing the failure to be pushed out past the time of an extended warranty repair.the corroded subframes allowed more flexure in the sub frames add stress to the bushings and support structures causes the repair cost to multiply.these component failures could lead to a catastrophic failure of the car while driving and should be corrected by the manufacturer.
Upon inspection of my vehicle, my mechanic noted that the frame crossmembers were rusted to the point of needing immediate replacement. He stated the car was unsafe and could have caused a major accident.
The vehicle was taken to the mechanic thinking there was a brake issue as there was a clunking and shaking while braking and turning. Mechanic states the brakes are fine and found a front crossmember of the subframe completely rusted apart next to the sway bar.
We had to have a control arm and lower ball joints put in our car and our mechanic informs us that the subframe has rusted out pretty bad and we have only had this car for 2 years and it's only 8 yrs old i don't think it's our place to replace the sub frame i don't have that kind of money neither we got the car at bob swope ford in elizabethtown kentucky we have complained to them but they do not respond could you please help us get this problem solved it was checked by swope on or around the first of october and they didn't say a word about this problem
After suspecting some front end suspension issues i took my 2009 dodge caliber to my regular mechanic. Upon inspection he reported that, along with control arms needing to be replaced, the subframe was unusually rusted and corroded to a point that was unsafe to drive. I investigated the matter and found that chrysler issued an extension on the factory warranty to cover the same issue on the 2007 calibers but when i contacted chrysler customer service they informed my that there has been no recall or warranty extension for the 2009 caliber. The car is at the garage and will be getting fixed tomorrow. I have taken pictures and will pursue the issue further.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. While driving 35 mph, the contact noticed that an object fractured from underneath the vehicle. In addition, the contact heard a noise underneath the vehicle. The dealer stated that the subframe was corroded and contained holes. The technician diagnosed that the subframe and control arms needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 54,000.
Got oil change & was told my frame was rusting bad.took to my mechanic to put up on racks and i looked at it.he said it was getting very rusted, had holes, including the "arms" that connected to wheels.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. A year ago, the lower control arms failed and were replaced by the dealer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer a week ago and a mechanic diagnosed that the front cross member was prematurely rusted extensively and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure more than three times, but provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. ..updated 11/21/16

Transmission over heating on highway.. Front steering and suspension keep needs repaired. Noise in front when turning to the right.
Rusted front subframe resulting in steering vibration and tire rubbing while driving. Vehicle was pulling hard to one side while driving on interstate.unstable ride due to premature rusting of subframe
2009 dodge caliber has no adjustments for rear camber and requires an after-market bolt installation for front.my 2009 dodge caliber [xxx], has eaten the inside edges off all 4 tires (scooped) this was written off as tire wear-ok on each chrysler service.i noticed that the insides of the tires were scooped out when the wheels were turned out when i parked recently.essentially, you as the owner get to replace four tires every 24,000 miles and there seems to be no solid repair.my car has 17,425 miles and i am disgusted that this is a problem that essentially has no repair.the bolt the installed in the r front allows for a + or - 1 degree adjustment.what happens if the owner doesn't find the problem?blowouts and crashes.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2007 dodge caliber. The contact stated that while the vehicle was being serviced, the mechanic noticed the rear trailing arm bushing was stuck to the suspension. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.
Entire sub frame in front is rotted to the point vehicle is not driveable, do other ruset is visible in front.vehicle began to squeal when driving and front left tire close to fell off
The 2009 dodge caliber was deemed unsafe and unable to pass a maine safety inspection. The front and rear cross subframes were heavily rusted and completely rusted through in several places.
Took car in for inspection, was told cradle , subframe is rotted. Was told there was a recall. Chrysler did recall 2007 2008 .but not 2009 . Car has less than 60,000 miles. Body is not rusted. Called customer care and was told they are aware there is a problem and get many complaint but have chosen not to extend recall. Even though they know there is a problem. Almost every complaint on this website is about the same issue.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. While driving 15 mph, the vehicle made a creaking sound. A mechanic diagnosed that the main cross member was corroded. The contact notified the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 84,000.
Front subframe severely rusted and broken
Speed sensors, inner/outer tie rods, hub assembly, radiator, intake valve, tires were different sizes, more problems arose.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that the vehicle was receiving repairs for state inspection when he was advised that the front lower ball joints were worn prematurely and needed replacing. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised him to take the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 33,000. Dealer refused to do work. Went to another dealer and had car fixed.updated 09/07/2011 *ln
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated while coming to a stop, there was a loud banging sound heard. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the front passengerā€™s side wheel had detached due to a fractured lower control arm. The contact indicated that the failure was caused by severe rusting and corrosion of the subframe. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 109,000.

In the last 2 months i have had to replace 3 of my sensored valve stems.this has occurred while driving and when putting air into the tire.the first 2 i was able to get the sensor replaced without any problems, the last one i had to go to 4 different places to see if they had one, waited for 2 days to actually get the part and then have it put it in.the manager at the store said in the last month he has had many vehicles coming in to have these replaced as they were broken, especially chrysler/dodge/jeep products.
Valve stem corrosion-failure on a 2009 dodge caliber with tire pressure monitoring system. I have had to replace two stems at a cost of over $100.00 each. One "fell apart" in my fingers when checking air pressure and the other blew out while driving. Could have been interesting if it happened at high speed.
While checking tire pressure tpms broke - filed by jiffy lube.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that while adding air to the drivers side rear tire, the valve stem became fractured. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was advised that the tire pressure monitoring system and valve stem needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 56,000. .updated 01-10-14
3 out of 4 valve stem's had to be replace on my car due to material defect...contacted dodge due to product failure to see if this had been recalled as of yet. Had the same problem with my daughters 2009 dodge avenger last july 2011.
Valve stems break and can cause tires to loose air.valve stems often break near the cap so you cannot add air to the tire, and in some cases they break lower so the needle in the valve becomes loose.this happened with two valve stems when the vehicle was at about 35,500 miles, and now with about 39,000 miles, i have a third valve stem that cracked differently at a lower position so it was even harder to detect.tires may loose air so the warning light comes but you may not be able to add air. It may be a slow leak or if the crack is near the needle it could cause a rapid loss of air. These defective stems which have pressure sensors cost almost $100 at the dealer.i understand people are replacing the defective stems with conventional rubber stems and just ignoring the warning light.this is a common well documented problem for may chrysler vehicles.
Tire tpms valve stem completely shattered. The vehicle has had these replaced within the past 6 months with new tires installed, yet the one had shattered while adding air allowing all air to spew out of tire. This could be a major safety issue if these fragile sensors/stems were to shatter while driving.
Mytransmission is lunging forward t all rates of speed
The throttle body seems to be a huge thing even on youtube, it keeps going out. This should be something you replace. It's faulty and now mine had just broke down and we have to replace it with a 300 throttle body. This should defiantly be a recall asap, especially because it's many many people with this vehicle.

The front sub-frame is severely corroded / rusted. I noticed this when doing front end work while the vehicle was stationary.
When i started my 09 dodge caliber up one morning . I back up ,then put the car in drive and it hesitated and jump or jolt.it scared me .the engine came on,so i went to a auto parts store down the street from my house to get a reading or codes read on my caliber, it gave me a code about the power train.
My car was totaled because the front subfloor broke in have they said if going faster i would have rolled it only got 2000 had 1000 deduction i'm disabled i think i should get more of refund for your default
The k frame is completely rotted from rust.
During an overall check up of the vehicle, the mechanic found rusting of the sub frame. He advised this was a known issue and that driving it for another 6 months may be pushing our luck.
Subframe rusted cracks very dangerous frequent noises!
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber.when the contact activates the air conditioning or heater, his hand will touch and activate the four way flasher.he stated that the flasher was in a bad location.the dealer stated that they received other complaints regarding the poor design of the flasher and air conditioner knobs.the failure mileage was 800.updated 08/20/09.
Engine cradle is rusted out when the rest of the vehicle has no rust at all resulting in approx. $800 to $1000 in repairs.
I've had multiple repairs involving the throttle body, pcm and fuel peddle all with no effect on the issue of shaking, dying, periodic engine light and safety concern over the intermittent loss of power.now i'm told it's probably the computer.the build date falls within a safety recall but i'm told it won't be honored because the vin isn't under the recall.
Rotted out.corroded in 6 years car unsafe.
The car will stall and not take off after being stopped at a light for too long . Will shut off as well along with throttling as if it wants to shut off
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber.
When the vehicle reaches 3,000 rpms the temperature light comes on and the vehicle seems like it wants to go into neutral the engine light comes on the antilock brake system light comes on.

The cars transmission light came on indacating that the transmission fluid is over 250 degrees and it shuts down to where i cant drive it it jumps and it won't let me accelerate i was going to the dr office out of the town from where i live and it put me out put it on the diagnosict machine at it said tmc moduel i havent had it very long and all and this is the second time it has done it to me
Started out when i drive more than 23 miles, trans. Worse now..
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated the electric throttle control light continuously illuminated. Whenever the contact drove 15 mph the warning light would illuminate causing the vehicle to stall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the pcm chip at least twice but the failure continued to occur. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 77,000.
3 out of 4 valve stem's had to be replace on my car due to material defect...contacted dodge due to product failure to see if this had been recalled as of yet. Had the same problem with my daughters 2009 dodge avenger last july 2011.
The contact owns a 2009 dodge caliber. The contact stated that she attempted to add air to the front driver's tire and the valve stem detached. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop and the tire pressure monitoring system for the front driver's tire was replaced. Approximately one year later, the same failure was experienced on the front passenger side. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
Excessive inner tire tread wear due to premature wear to lower ball joint, before 50,000 miles. Could result in tire failure (blow out) at any speed and especially dangerous at highway speeds.
Subframe rotted away. Causing the drivers side a-arm to rip out. The wheel was at an approximate 90 degree angle from normal position. Caused the driveshaft to pull out of the transmission and the car to immediately stop.
The 2009 dodge caliber was deemed unsafe and unable to pass a maine safety inspection. The front and rear cross subframes were heavily rusted and completely rusted through in several places.
