I purchasedthis vehicle in january 2017. I am afraid to drive it due to the safety issue nhtsa recall number 16v-668. I contact the dealer weekly and i'm told that there is "no remedy available yet". I need to know how dangerous this is and if the car is safe to drive. Thank you for your time. Sincerely,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was in a recent accident that caused over $4,500 in damage to the front end of my 2011 dodge avenger. I hit the vehicle in front of me travelling at over 20mph and the airbags did not deploy and i braced myself against the steering wheel and thankfully was not injured. There are currently two open recalls for the airbag and seat belt restraint. The police officer on scene was bewildered that the airbags had not deployed, and i'm not certain they would work or not with the active recall due to the two main safey features of this vehicle. Currently the vehicle is being "tested" by dodge/chrysler group but they have yet to provide me with a loaner vehicle till they deem the car is in fact safe to drive and operate. I refuse to get behind the wheel of a car in the event i'm in another accident and the two safety devices i rely on do not work. Dodge/chysler is refusing to answer any inquiries i have and i am taking legal action against them at this time.

This is an update to a previous complaint. I received a recall back on november 2016 from fca. I contacted fca regarding the recall and they told me they didn't have the parts and would put me on a priority list and contact me when they had the parts. Still have not received any type of contact and its now april 24th 2017. I have emailed dodge corporate office regarding the safety issue of my vehicle asking for a new vehicle with no safety recall issues or complete my recall. Have not received a response from them. I went to dodge and asked when my car will be fixed, they told me they do not have the parts and could only do it now if it was safety related. "which it clearly is." i have received no information on when the parts will be available or offered an alternative to ensure i am driving a safe vehicle. It is clear dodge is doing nothing to ensure the drivers of their vehicles are safe. I'm writing on here in hopes to get help to get my vehicle fixed or get a vehicle that is safe to drive. It is dodges obligation to fulfill one of these. I will continue to contact everyone i possible can to make sure dodge is held accountable for this and to solve dodges problem.

Luckily the seat belt was functioning properly ...police report filed and noted brake fluid compartment full .

I got a letter in mail nov 2016 about a recall. They tell me they have no parts til at least june. This is a safety issue. I have a family in this car. They need to do something now or contact me and give me a new car or rental waited long enough . My car also makes a noise the company said alot of the cars do it then why hasn't it been recalled. It in the heating system. I love my car but no longer feel safe it in and will not be recommending dodge to anyone from now on. The noise happens 24/7 car on or off. The recall is for air bag and seat belt safety that is a big deal. So why are they doing nothing to help anyone with one of these vehicles?? i worry everytime i have to drive the car and when my kids are in it if we are even safe. Recall issued in nov 6 months ago!!!!

As i was driving down the road a city street. I was stopped at a red light, the light turned green and the airbag exploded. We are being told that the recall on the car has no fix to it. If this is true why aren't we getting our money back? i will be upside down about 5,000, how is this fair to make me pay off a car i had to trade in due to safety problems.

2011 dodge avenger.consumer writes in regards to head rest deployed unexpectedly.vehicle vin# not included in recall.

I received a recall on my 2011 dodge avenger back in november 2016. I called the recall company listed on the recall notice and informed them of the vin on my vehicle. They told me that they did not have the parts and would contact me when they did. Great!! i then called stockton dodge and informed them if the same information in which i got the same answer. I was pretty understanding at first. Then two months pass and no call or email. I then call both back and get the same answer. Again trying to be understanding. At this point i started researching the recall and found the information above. I asked several outside sources and they informed me if it was safety related. (which if i'm not mistaken it is) to go to the dealership and demand to have the vehicle fixed. At this point it's two months later and i head over to stockton dodge chrysler jeep ram . Also at this point my seat beltpretensioner in the passengers seat is jammed and the end is stuck buckled. I go into the service center and inform them there is a recall on my car and i've been waiting months for the parts to come in. I also inform them if the seat belt issue. All they tell me is that the parts aren't in and the only way to have it done now is if it is safety related. They pull up the recall, scanning it and tell me it's not safety related. I was amazed by what i heard. Then the one service working told me there was no one there to check my seat belt at the time. I then asked the individual how it wasn't safety related when there was a possibility my airbags wouldn't deploy and my cars seat belt was already not working. He looked at me with a blank stare and again told me they didn't have the parts. I left pretty upset. How does a company sell u a car that is not safe, then knowing it's not safe' do nothing about it. It's outrageous. Till this day my vehicle has not been fixed.

Vehicle air bag light has been on for months, recently took it in for the orc recall dealer advised that's not the reason for the recall, hes had multiple other dodge avengers come in with the same issue. He sed me to contact dodge and file a complaint. I did read today that 2012+ dodge avengers have came up with another recall that has to do with air bag light being on so i don't know what else to do beside file a complaint. Ive also had multiple other issues with this car, the braking system will skip before stopping (its really hard to explain). Ive been to 4 different mechanics jensen tires, tires plus, brakes plus, and the dodge dealership themselves. All of them have performed a full inspection on vehicle and said everything is perfect and nothing is wrong with the car. The vehicle will stall at times going around 45-60 mph, turning at 15-20 mph and going up hill around 15 mph (dodge says thats normal for dodges). Car will clunk when putting it in d,r,p (dodge says all dodges make that same noise). Car idles rough when slowing down to stop, rolling and stopped at a stop light (dodge says its normal for dodge vehicles to do that when its hot outside). Im going to trying to go to another dealership for another full inspection and if they don't find these issue i will be junking this vehicle, its not safe to drive, its very hard to drive and i don't feel safe at all.

On 7/24/2020 i was involved in an a front end accident. After taking it to a collision center they went directly through the insurance company. The insurance sompany agent indicated they totaled out the car due to an air bag issue. The clock spring in the steering wheel caused the air bag light to turn on, they also indicated the the air bag control module would need to be replaced and a seatbelt module. The agent said that would be thousands of dollars to replace and it's not safe for the roads so they totaled the car out.

Air bag light on dealership says it has nothing to do with the orc recall that was repaired, brakes skip then pop before stopping took it to multiple mechanics to get inspected none of them could fine an issue including dodge dealership. Front door can not be shut before back door or it will scratch back door. Oil leak from engine gasket and engine pan. Popping it steering column and shaking when going down hill. Again dealership and 4 other certified mechanics can not find any issues with the popping it the steering column and jumping and skip in the brakes before stopping. The brake issue happens at any speed and popping in the steering wheel happens mainly any slower speeds when letting go gas or brake no turning going straight.

Electronic dppr locks do not operate properly. The doors fail to unlock about 90% of the time with the exception of the drivers door. This is especiaaly problematic in the rear seats where manual unlocking is not easily seen or activated by passengers which could cause elays ehen emergency exit is required.dealer stated he could not correct although they did confirm the problem.

A known issue with 2011 doge avenger where the heater core goes bad .it's a known issue and should be covered by dodge. I shouldn't have to pay $1k out of pocket . I have read hundreds of forums stating the problem and it has never been addressed . Ridiculous by dodge.

The car has a tremendous delay when you press the gas pedal from any speed. This has almost caused me a few accidents already when crossing intersections that have no traffic signals. The vehicle finally reacts after a second or two of having pressed the gas pedal but the pedal is pressed so far by me already that it ends up accelerating incredibly abruptly that is also dangerous. Seems to be a computer issue because the horn also has the same 1-2 second delay before it finally beeps after you press the horn pad on the steering wheel.also when you go to turn the car on it suffers from a 1-2 second delay before the starter begins to crank the engine over. Its like the computer is soooo slow to react to commands by the driver and this is dangerous when it affects the gas pedal acceleration reaction time and the horn pad reaction time. Please address this since i own this vehicle and will end up selling it if the dealer cant repair this excessive computer reaction issue.when i spoke to a dealer about this they said it was normal to have this long reaction time and it was done by chrysler for "safety reasons" which made no sense to me that taking away driver control over acceleration is advantageous or "safe" in any way, shape or form.. It has created and put me in dangerous situations already since i don't feel i have control of the acceleration of the car since it does not accelerate immediately when you press the gas pedal. The same applies to the horn delay after you hit the horn pad on the steering wheel, what "safety reason" could that justifythis car has to get these issues resolved to prevent future accidents due to these problems. Please look into these complaints.

Driver's side window control doesn't work.the window will not go up or down.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power and the battery warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. Updated 01/10/2017*ct consumer stated the engine rpm jumped to 1500 rpm and the vehicle began to slow down. The electronic throttle control light was blinking on the dash along with the automatic traction control light illiminating. The vehicle rpm would only vary from 1200-1500rpm with the max speed of 20mph. Turns out the little plastic gears inside the part wear, causing the ecm to "lose track" of where the throttle position is. Updated 6/28/18

I replaced my car with new brakes last year and i am already having to replace them again. Also, it keeps dying out. I seen on here there was a recall with the electrical system. I think the issue is still at hand. I've spent money on trying to figure out what is wrong with my car and the mechanics here in my area cannot figure it out. This car has so many issues especially due to electrical issues. Also, my car will jerk sometimes when i am at a stop light. I can't figure out what is wrong with it. I am thinking of getting another car because there is so many issues with this one.

I was driving my 2011 avenger, and whenever i would go over 2000 rpm my electronic throttle control light would come on.then it would turn off, then it would come back on if i went over 2000 rpm, and then my throttle light would start blinking and my traction control light would come on.i couldn't go over 10 mph, unless i pulled over and turned my car off, and turned it back on.i took it the shop, and they told me i need to replace my throttle control since it's bad.

Takata recall i was involded in a accident, my vehicle was rear ended and my seat belts did not locked or airbags did not eject. While i was driving the battery, check engine, tire pressure, and traction light all came on at the same time, then all of a sudden everything (radio, instruments panel, speed odemeter etc...)when off in the car and then the a/c started blowing. It kept doing this off and on the whole time driving. The brake lights stay on. So far i have changed the battery, alternator, and the brake switch sensor and it's still doing the same thing. The vehicle was in motion on the hwy.i also got and check engine scan done on the vehicle. The one i could fix i fixed all but the tipm

Known issue that manufacturer refuses to address. Unsafe to drive during very cold temperatures. This vehicle only produces heat on the driver side vent. Temperature fluctuates and turns heat to cool while driving. Does not properly defrost. Has ticking issues coming from behind the steering column when changing ac settings.

2011 dodge avenger express. Drivers side blows hot air but passenger side blows cold. I also noticedthat the air stops blowingfor several minutes then comes back on by itself.

Dashboard lights up without warning; dealer failed to correct or report when first purchased vehicle in 2011.now in 2019, dealer denies record despite having given us loaner jeep and chrysler 200 in separate occasions.in 2019, car lights up randomly, engine stops while driving on freeway or in regular street traffic or turning at an intersection, and dealer reports unable to correct.extremely hazardous.worth a lawsuit.dash lights up, engine shuts off, steering wheel locks, car sometimes starts again but not always.we paid the dealer to fully replace the crank sensor but that isn't fixing it.tpm sensor warning appeared and isn't going away despite dealer stating it should.replacing psi sensor did not correct this system warning either.dealer said warning appeared 518 miles before we took it in but the error occurred on 5/12/19 and we took it in on 5/14/19, only driving about 15 miles from 5/12 - 5/12/19.either dealer lied or info isn't beingheld on computer's memory.tired of almost getting crashed into because the car randomly dies.

The car blows warm to hot air out of the driver's side and cold air out the passenger's side when you have the controls set to heat. I have had the heater core and coolant system flushed as well as had thermostats, water pump replaced but the issue still persists.when set to defrost only the driver's side defrosts. The passwnger's side gets worse.this issue is current and always happening no matter the state of the vehicle. If it is moving or still it does not blow heat out the pasenger's side. This is a safety issue because the car windshield reduces visibility because it will not defrost and because of the heightened hypothermia risk.yes

Car has died while driving in traffic 5 times between 01/22/19 and 03/06/19. Presented many different issues, including stall, no start, no crank, poor idle. Towed in 5 times to 3 different dealerships and dead again. Over $2000 in out of pocket costs so far and the danger to life sitting in a dead car in the middle of snowstorms in rush hour traffic. Also several times in between would not even start in the driveway. And many other what i refer to as "electrical gremlins"! all times dates and occurrences are documented in writing, backed up by texts and even some short videos showing dash with check engine lights and other issues.

All the sudden my dash defogger on passenger side and passenger defogger are blowing cold air and drivers side is warm. Googled issue and it seems to be a big thing

I bought a 2011 dodge avenger mainstreet three years ago. At 13k miles my car started giving me problems with the electronic throttle control. The car basically loses power with no warning. I have taken the car to my local dodge dealer 5 times since february 2013 due to this problem and on two occasions they said they replaced the etc. Recently the car was giving me problems again with the etc where the car would lose power with no warning. I took it to an independent dealer less than two weeks ago and got the etc replaced and installed.yesterday my car gave the same problems where the car would lose power. I know there is an investigation into the tipm of chrysler vehicles and i have no doubt that the problems with my car are related to the tipm. If it was just the etc my car would be good but keep in mind the part was replaced three times and the car gives me the same issues. I need advocacy for this issue. I fear my car may be a lemon.

During 2013 my car would give me problems starting in cold weather. To remedy this i would turn on the lights before turning on the vehicle. It worked. I brought it to the dealership while i had warranty for a check up and they told they spotted no problem codes and the car was fine. September 15 2014 it began to get chilly again. As i was driving, going uphill, the lightning bolt came back on and my car dropped to 20 mph immediately. I referred to the car manual and found this is called a etc issue, electronic throttle control. I've brought this attention to dealership while my warranty was still on the car, and even tho i stated the issue was there, it wasn't attended to because no problem codes came up. My local mechanic ran a diagnostic test and still no codes come up. Aside from this, there is a heavy knocking noise when my air conditioner is turned on for some time. Idk what this issue is but again i had brought it up while i was under warranty and nothing was done.

There is a sizable water leak entering the trunk lid inner panels, originating from the lack of a proper seal around the third high brake lite assembly( chmsl). The problem has been reported to chrysler since the 2008 model year of the avenger, stratus, sebring and pt cruiser. They are currently using the same trunk lid and light assy, and the problems persist. Chrysler has admitted knowledge of the problem and assigned a tsb # 23-016-12 in this service bulletin it states the corrective measure for dealers is to remove 2 rubber drain plugs, and nothing else. So the water still enters between the outer and inner trunk lid assy, exits through the latch assy, and now the removed drain plugs also. Unfortunately, the simple fix chrysler has assigned is a hazard for 2 reasons. 1/ water is in contact with power terminals on the trunk lid latch assy, 2/ water is not completely removed, and residual plus water coming out of latch assy sits and stagnates, and promotes the growth of mold spores. I have contacted chrysler, there is an open case history, and they choose to do nothing. I informed them i would take this action.

When i am driving the battery light will go off along with the abs and the brake light. I just bought the car about a month and a half ago.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the air bag warning indicatorilluminated. The failure recurred on a separate occasion. There was recall related to the failure under nhtsa campaign id number 13v282000 (air bags , electrical system) however, the vin was not included and the vehicle had not been repaired. The contact also mentioned that the instrument cluster lights suddenly dimmed and the interior lights and both turn signals failed to operate properly. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 57,656.

My car keeps turnin goff while driving and slowingdowm. At 80 i was driving and my car turned off amy times

Air bag light driverside been on for months drain my battery now air bag light goes off on

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing electrical failures with the window motors as the power windows failed to operate and the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that all the warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and it was diagnosed that the starter needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The dealer (mancari's chrysler, 2514 95th st, oak lawn, il 60453) was contacted and stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle related to the failures. The failure mileage was 110,000.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. While driving various speeds, the emergency stabilizer control indicator illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the diagnosis was undetermined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. The vin was unavailable.

While driving the car will stall out; i was driving on 3 lane highway going about 70 mph and was barely able to get it off to the side due to no power steering.another time i was at a stop light and when light turned green and i pressed on accelerator the car stalled and a trash truck nearly ran into the rear of the vehicle. After the vehicle sits for a few minutes it will restart; then fail again.repeat procedures and it will run a while longer.this has been happening for the last 4 days at least 3-4 times daily.

Replace heater coil and accuator still no heat and defroster don't work

I was driving, the etc light and the stability light came on, the car lost power. I had to shut the car off and restart it to get the car to drive normally. It would drive normally for a couple of miles and then i would have to do it again. It stopped doing it the next day. It started back up again this summer. I have taken it to a mechanic who cleans the electronic throttle box and has reset the electronics. This will usually fix it for a month or so and then it starts again. The car also will have surges of power, which are very scary. It also does not handle well when it rains or snows. Overall i feel like the car is unsafe.

While in motion, driving, the car down the road it loses power. You have to either pull over or put it in neutral turn the car off and wait a about a minute and turn the car back on and you can go for awhile. A error pops up but when you shut it off and turn it back on it resets itself. Hard to find out what is wrong with it, but we changed out the throttle body and a sensor, was told that you cant flash the computer on this car. This has been going on now for 3 months.

Takata recall i was involded in a accident, my vehicle was rear ended and my seat belts did not locked or airbags did not eject. Also my break indicater always pops up on the dash board.my back window stop rolling down.the air conditioner makes a loud claking sound everytime i turn on or off the engine.and it wont revers. Theeres something new always going on with this car.

Rear shifts side ways when going over any bump or expansion joint on road. Driving in snow or ice is very dangerous because rear is always sliding back and forth had car checked and dodge dealership found nothing wrong with the car. Aside from giving me a panic attack every time this happens, i'm afraid i'm going to kill myself or someone else in a terrible accident from this problem. Thought it was something with the rear sway bar being mounted in the wrong place or something with the electronic stability control malfunctioning. Also i thought it was the tires so i had all new tires put on and that obviously wasn't the problem. I'm scared to death to drive this car but it is my only option.

When i am driving the battery light will go off along with the abs and the brake light. I just bought the car about a month and a half ago.

With less than 77,000 miles on my 2011 dodge avenger the heating system quit working,i was told that it would cost 2,000 to 3,000 dollars to fix. I also been told from past dodge mechanics that dodge has been aware of this problem for 10 to 15 years and fail to recall the cars affected. I currently have no heat on either side of the car, after seeing hundreds of complaints about the same issue this obviously has to be a manufacturers defect and needs to be recalled by dodge.

While on the freeway, my check engine light went on and right away my car stalled while in motion going about 70mph. Luckily i was able to get to the shoulder and turned off my car then turned it back on and was able to get safely home. When i went down the street to check to see if it worked, it stalled on me again.

My dodge avenger has the same problem that everyone else's car has with a 3.6l vvt in the car, the engine oil cooler cracks, and sprays oil everywhere, the problem is that if it isn't caught the oil get all over the place and causes belts to smoke because the oil and antifreeze are leaking from the oil cooler.considering that this is a common problem with these motors, this needs to be investigated, so the oil cooler can be recalled, so dodge will fix this problem!! it is dangerous especially if you're in the middle of a trip and it decides to crack while you're doing 70 mph down the freeway and all the oil and antifreeze blows out the car.and you don't even know where the problem is until the car is stopped and you get it towed home, you check all the fluids and refill them then you come outside the next morning and you see the big leak from the oil all on the ground and you have to have them tear the car apart because there is oil all over the place under the hood.

I was driving down the autobahn at about 45 mph when the electronic throttle control light began flashing and the car lost all power. I had to let the car roll to the side of the street to avoid getting hit by other vehicles and there i tried to start the car and it would not start. The car had shut off before without any warning, but it started back up without any issues. I had the car towed to a mechanical shop and they hooked it up to a diagnostic computer with the code for camshaft sensor. We replaced the camshaft sensor and still no luck. Took it to a dodge dealership and they said the engine needed to be replaced. We did not replace the engine because it would cost $8000. The car still only cranks, but does not start and the etc light is still on.

The heater in my car is only blowing heat on the driver side the passenger side is blowing cold air. Being from maine this creates a safety issue in the winter when the weather is inclement as it does not defrost properly as it should. I was quoted $21004 heater core and radiator replacement . With all the complaints for this same issue i have seen i would think that chrysler dodge with take responsibility do the right thing and fix this issue without charging the consumer.

Passenger side heat blows weak cold air (dash, floor, and defroster). Windshield will not defrost. Heater core replaced, clogged with casting sand from manufacturer. Two weeks later, new core clogged. Mechanic spent most of one day continuously flushing engine/system. Sand still flushing out at end of day from heat/cooling system.conditions are stationary or moving (any speed) with heater on. Unsure how long this was occurring as i rarely have a passenger. Driver's side seemed to work fine, so i did not notice until routinely transporting passenger and got worse to the point it was difficult seeing out of windshield.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. While coming to a stop, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact mentioned that it took multiple attempts to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed, but no failure cause could be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

2011 dodge avenger express. Drivers side blows hot air but passenger side blows cold. This began doing this action in april 2018 and when i drive on the highway or city traffic, it blows hot on one side and the other side is cold. I also noticedthat the air stops blowingfor several minutes then comes back on by itself.

Passenger defrost blows cold air which means it is not clearing the windows in inclement weather.the frosting of windows has created safety issues for me because on a busy road i have almost had an accident.

While driving to work today i lost all power and noticed a red lighting bolt on the dash.i would try to accelerate but could not going more then 1600 rpm's.i pulled over and killed the engine.when i started it i was able to drive for about 1 minute and it happened again.i was able to get home and later found out the lighting bolt was the electronic control throttle body.i called the dealer and they want $550 to install it or $330 for a new part.reading forums i seen that many people have this issue and need to replace the entire throttle body because there are little plastic gears that get stripped.i found a place on line for $180 and will replace it but i think it is disappointing that i am replacing this part when i only have 60k miles on it.

2011 dodge avenger. 3.6l engine.while driving between 30 and 40 mph, on deceleration, once the gas pedal is pressed to accelerate, the engine stalls. All electrical still works, but power steering and braking are lost. Car does not restart for at least an hour or more, but will start evnetually. Has happened "intermittently" 10 times since dec 2017 (this report done july 2018). 8 dealer trips with a torque converter replacement, new fuel pump and still stalling issues while trying to accelerate. Empty back roads, state highways and even busy freeways have all been locations for stalls. All weather conditions, (winter, summer, wet, dry). One code pulled referred to the tipm, which is a major problem for chrysler, but not documented in the avenger. Dealer wants a second code to confirm but of the 10 stalls and 8 being towed to the dealer immediately, only once was code saved in car's computer.

Car has problems picking up speed when pushing pedal it slowly picks up speed, when the car is in motion and i push on brakes or i am backing out of parking space car shuts off. Also sometimes while car is running i notice it won't go over a certain speed it jus won't allow me to do over 50 mph and car starts to over heat but normally i pull over turn the car off and start it back up and it drives normal again , until the car is turned off again it mysteriously just happens again whenever it decides.

Heat only blows hot on drivers side - passenger side blows cold air.took to the dealership 01/18 they replaced the heater core and flushed the system.11/18 doing the exact same thing.already cost $1200, told that it is the coolant and they would not replace the heater core under warranty because it is clogged.if it is the coolant they put in wouldn't that still becovered?this is a safety issue for the defroster on that side also only blows cold air!

I was driving down the highway this has happened i believe atleast 3 times now, all of a sudden while driving not sure if a specific speed but i was going atleast 50 mph each time, thesteering wheel seems to lock up for a good second or two which is a long time when your going that speed. It's extremely scary and the first time it happened i didn't know if it happened or not than it happened again not sure how long after and that's when i was like ok maybe that steering wheel did lock up beforethan when it happened again i knew for sure it was really happening cause i had a friend in passenger seat who witnessed this . Now it's been a while and my car all of a sudden won't start and my steering wheels will not lock . I've replaced sensors tried deleting codes . The codes i got were wrong immobilizer key and low voltage . Doing as much research as i have for the last week buying and trying things i've seen a major problem with these cars is a security issue and it can shut your car off as your driving normally.thia is dangerous and for as many complaints how is there no recall on this

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. While driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle decelerated without warning. The contact pulled to the side of the road, turned off, and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure recurred while in traffic. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the electronic throttle assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic for an estimate. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

2011 dodge avenger.consumer writes in regards to vehicle stopped at red light then proceeded into intersection and vehicle shut off without warning.the dealer was unable to find a problem.

My car doesn't start. I've been having the same problems since last year. I've been told 3 times that it was the alternative so i've bought 3. Then i was told it was the cords on my battery so i fixed that. Now i'm currently getting it looked at which i think it is the transmission or starter. I've also bought two batteries. Last week wen i went to the store a girl came up to me and asked do i have problems with my car i told her yes she said her mother has the same car as i do and told me that she her car keeps turning off and want crank. She said she put so much money into the car that she just had to get another one. So i know that it has to be something wrong because i'm also having those same type of problems and i keep my car up very well.

My car's engine stalls and shuts off while in the middle of acceleration or even while at idle. The dealership cannot find any issues as to why it would stop running and i am extremely afraid to drive the car for fear i will have an accident. When the engine stalls, the power steering stops working and it is hard to steer the car to a safe spot.

Driving on hilly road at about 60 mph car begins to studder and jerk. It smooths out on acceleration then repeats symptoms each time car travels around 60 mph. The symptoms go away after car is turned off then restart later in the drive.the symptoms now occurr on level roads also.now in addition to the above symptoms, the car is stalling at low speeds of around 15 mph or less. It will start back up normally, but may stall again or not. It will often run erratically after this, a symptom often called 'missing', but no cylinder misfire code is set.

Engine shut of while driving this happens many times even now i can't drive it because i dint know when is going to shut of.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without any warnings. The vehicle was restarted and was operating normally. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,700. The vin was not available.

Passenger's side of vehicle blows cold air when the driver's side blows hot air.this is an ongoing problem with most all 2011thru 2014 dodge vehicles, of which dodge is aware of.the heater core is clogged with left over filings and dirt from the engine when it was made.it is a major job to replace the heater core. This problem should be a recall as it is a problem created when the vehicle was made.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while sitting at a traffic stop. The failure recurred four times and would only occur once the vehicle was at a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but the dealer advised the contact that they were unable to determine a failure within the vehicle. The contact made several attempts to speak with the manufacturer but only received a recorded message. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 11 and the current mileage was 7399.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle jerked and lost power. The engine and traction warning lights illuminated.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the crankshafts on three occasions. The contact stated that the battery cable box burned and was also replaced by the independent mechanic.the dealer was not called. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The contact stated that the vehicle did not seem fully repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.

For the last 2 years i only get heat on my driver side. Passenger side blows cold air. I heard it could be related to a defect during manufacturing process dodge where metal casing are left in the engine block causing the core to get clogged and that is why i have the problem.

I purchased this vehicle brand new in 2011. Since 2011 it has stalled out on me 4 times when i am at low speeds or when accelerating when a red light turns green. One of the stalls it happened as i was making a uturn and a car nearly hit me while i was trying to restart the car. I have taken the vehicle in several times to the dealer and each time they find nothing wrong with the car. This situation is exactly as described by another complaint on this website. I have noticed the car has a very slight surge at idle or at a light when the ac is running and mentioned this to the techs but they stated its normal. Doesn't seem normal to me as the car didn't do it when purchased and now it randomly stalls. They did flash the onboard computer but this has not fixed the problem. Guess it will take a serious accident before the dealer or dodge believes there is a issue.

When i am driving the battery light will go off along with the abs and the brake light. I just bought the car about a month and a half ago.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the vehicle suddenly stalled while stopped at a stop light. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer five different times. The technicians were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.

After being stopped in traffic for a few minutes i released the brake to accelerate, the car began to sputter and stalled immediately afterwards.i then put the car in park, turned it off and it restarted with no problems.it has done this once a week for the last three weeks.the check engine light has not come on at any point.i ran a diagnostic with the obd2 and it produces no codes.

The heater blows cold air in the passenger area of the car and warm air on the driver's side. The car never warms up enough to defrost the windows in winter. The cause is sand and metal shavings left in the engine block during manufacturing of the engine. The sand and metal shavings make their way into the heater core and radiator by about 50000.00 miles or so. This is the cause of the heating issue because the bottom of the heater core plugs and the radiator also to an extent. This should be a recall by dodge for sure. Please help us from the high cost of the dealers 1300.00 charge to change the heater core and or radiator. From a discontent dodge owner

Upon coming to a stop at a traffic light the engine stalled/ shut off. Had to put in in park to restart and no warning lights came on. Seems normal now.

Heat only blows hot on drivers side.

After purchasing my vehicle i took it for a short drive on the highway. I was speeding up to 35-40 mph when the car stalled. The car started and i decided that i better take it home. I started the car, turned around on the highway and while i was driving, it stalled again. It stalled several more times on the way home, i was never able to drive more than 45mph before it would sta... Several days later i decided to try to drive it again. It made it two miles out of town (going 65mph) before it started stalling again. It took me over an hour to make it home because the car would start, drive for about 3 feet and stall again. The next day the dealer i purchased it from towed it to their shop and they "reset" the computer. It drove fine for two days before stalling again while i was driving down a city street going 45mph. I had to pull off the road. I was able to restart the car several minutes later and drive it the last 1/4 of a mile to work. Now i am at work wondering if i will make it safely home. I live an hour from work.

I was driving to a parking lot around a turnabout and as i approached the entrance for the parking lot, the steering became extremely difficult, almost causing the car to miss the entrance and for me to veer of the road. I looked at the tachometer and noticed that the engine had completely turned off. This was about the third occurrence. The previous two times the car had stalled at an intersection's red light and didn't notice until the light turned green. When i depressed the gas pedal, the car wouldn't move. Again, i would look at the tachometer, and the engine stalled. I wish to have on the record that today, 9/22/14 at approximately 11:30am, i contacted [xxx]of palm auto mall in punta gorda, fl to voice my concerns about a recall i read in the local news about a fuel pump recall for jeep cherokees with a 3.6l v6 and was given the runaround. My car has the exact same engine, and made during that recall's date! this is important because i described this exact problem when my car was serviced 9/16-9/17/14. I was told today that since my car is not involved with the jeep recall, they couldn't do anything. I warned [xxx]that if i get into an accident due to this problem, he is going to be on record that i explained this problem to him. Thank god i was driving slowly. If my mother were driving the same car, she would not have had the strength to turn the wheel in this circumstance. Highly dangerous and potentially fatal problem with this car.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the plugs for the high beams and the running lights were melted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 53,000.

Wipers stop working, the lights would not turn off, and the brake light come at random while vehicle in motion

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that while attempting to merge into highway traffic at 50mph the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure. The dealer performed a diagnostic twice and advised that the gas cap was not properly tightened and could cause the vehicle to stall, however the vehicle continued to stall without warning and could not be restarted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,300 and the current mileage 34,712.

While driving on the freeway, an object hit under the vehicle and punctured a hole in the plastic, unprotected fuel tank causing a leak.fortunately it only caused a leak and did not result in a fire.i was surprised to find out that the fuel tank was plastic and did not have any protection from road hazards to prevent punctures, especially when it is so close to the ground.

I have purchased 3 dodge avengers 2010 and 2011. Each of the cars are doing the same thing stalls while driving i thought it was the transmission. I have taken the cars back to the dealer on numerous occasions 5 to 6 times and the tech could not find anything wrong. I was driving my kids to school and began to press the gas from the light and it turned off the car behind me almost hit us. I was driving going 10 mph and the car turned off. I was in a school zone. I was at a stop light and it stalls. I cannot understand this and the techs are oblivious also. I have had enough and i just purchased this car.

I was driving aug 23along in a street when the car just stalled,i immediately put the gear in park then start the engine again it worked.. Then aug 25 i was backing upfrom my work drive wayin the morning when it dies again.. There were no engine light or battery light in the dashboard then it wont start ... I waited like 5mins to start it again then it worked again...then it happened again the car stalled again while im driving home same day ... Then aug 28past 415pm when i was about to leave to do some errandsthe car was parked on the street it didn't start i called triple a thinking it needs a jump start... After 15 mins the car starts again... Then aug 29 the car stalled again along the street sunset and wilton it just dies again i re start it again...im so afraid for my safety and the safety of others on what this car defects are.. I decided to went to midas same day aug 29 and have my car diagnosed... The mgr told me battery results are ok .. The starter test is normal...the charging system test is normal advised me to take it to the dealer... I took it to the downtown la dealer they don't accept walk ins the service writer told me they need to have the car in the service shop for 3 days to run a test it will cost me $100 something... I cant afford it... Im a low income employee.. I cant afford to have my car in the shop for 3 days...he told me the cost might run from $200 to $1,000 depends on the problem....im in a difficult situation right now...we had this car since may 2013 at 37,000 miles from a rent enterprise dealership im not negligent or abuse this car in any way i always have it oil change ...it has 48,000 plus miles now... When i look up in the internet i read some related complaints about dodge avenger they also have the same problem the car just dies stalled....very unsafe in the streets i don't want something happened to me while im in the fwy.

No heat on passenger side had the heater core flushed did no good was told there was left over sand from engine cast. This should be fixed by chysler! i don't have $1500 to fix a problem that they are well aware of.

I have never received a recall letter but there are several that are open. This vin is also on the buyback list and i've called two local dealers to ask about it and they won't give an answer but 'we can trade in'. I've also call fac. I bought it certified used.

After 80'000 miles shifing problems, the car will not go into reverse. Will not back up. Along with seat belt issues.

After 4 years vehicle has begun stalling after auto start when you turn key on. It has also begun stalling at lights. Hard to detect a stall right away until you go to use it. Caused a few times a very unsafe condition.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the vehicle would jerk violently when accelerating from a complete stop or when attempting to brake to a stop.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where the mechanic informed her that the manufacturer was aware of the failure and they were working on a solution. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown. The current mileage was approximately 15,000. The vin was unavailable.

Shortly after exceeding the 30,000 mile warranty the gear shift would not come out of park. Fortunately, it seems this issue has happened to others because i found a youtube video on how to get it out of park by removing the gear shift cover and using a screwdriver to lift the piece that is usually lifted by the brake cable to the gear shift.the dealer ordered the part replacement but the labor costs were exorbitant so i took it to a friend who used to be a dodge dealer and they fixed it for less than $100.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the transmission failed and made a severely loud metal noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure.

20plus mile per hour front end accident, police statement that air bags should of deployed. No airbags no seat belt tensioner. Driving my fault rear ended a vehicle estimated speed 20 plus mph. Airbags didn't deploy and my seat belt didn't hold me tight at all my head went to steering wheel. There should be no debate on whether or not my seat belt should of held tight.no help from a company that is ok with its customers driving death traps.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the rear seat belt failed to untighten and caused the passenger to get stuck while unbuckling the seat belt. The failure only recurred once. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

We are being told that the recall on the car has no fix to it. If this is true why aren't we getting our money back? i will be upside down about 5,000, how is this fair to make me pay off a car i had to trade in due to safety problems.

Wipers stop working, the lights would not turn off, and the brake light come at random while vehicle in motion

Was in line of traffic . One vehicle three cars ahead turned suddenly causing the next car to put on brakes suddenly then the next car brake suddenly the brakes of the 2011 dodge avenger failed to engage leading to a rear end collision with the car ahead causing extreme front end damage to the 2011 dodge avenger and the air bag did not deploy .. Luckily the seat belt was functioning properly ...police report filed and noted brake fluid compartment full .

Back in 2019 on thanksgiving we had a car accident driving straight on route 17 in essex county because the wheel bearings went out to quickly we replaced thema year later it did almost did the same thing but we catch it in time are mechanic said it shouldn't have to change your wheel your wheel bearing 10 months apart we went through 3 already and it's asking me to put a date from when it happen i'll put the first time and the next two the next date it happen 9/23/2020/10/20/20 it's also doing some weird sliding in the back end of the vehicle

I bought this car brand new off the lot and have owned it for 2 years. The back of the car sways in the back, which i did not notice this at first being the driver, but passengers did. As time went on it got worse and i began noticing it in the front. The back end sways anytime you hit a bump and in the winter the back end is all over the place. I've been driving in winter weather for 10 years now and never had so much anxiety until driving this car. The back end makes hollow clicking noises from time to time like something is going to just "pop off". The steering wheel pulls to the right (even after all alignments, tires checked). When you attempt to push on the gas after being stopped the car stalls a great deal. The left rear suspension has been replaced already, the sway bar tightened, camber bushings done and there are still issues with the above but the dealer states "nothing is wrong". I have had my car in the dealership numerous of times for all of this not to mention the bubbling of the paint on the hood, the trunk leaking water and a few recalls. I plan on trading this car in asap and will not be purchasing another dodge. I spent way too much money on a car to have this many issues with barely 20,000 miles on it.

Front end makes a popping noise from the passenger side on uneven terrain at all speeds. Dealer couldn't find anything and i had the first tire rotation at this time. We took our first road trip (approx 1700 miles round trip) and noticed vibration on trip. Found tire dust covering rear of car and rear fender wells. The rear tires had almost completely worn through the innermost tread. Dealer performed an alignment check, said front was slightly out and corrected it. Left front was -.7 camber and right front was -.7. At 1500 miles the dealer finally agreed to replace the tires through the good year prorated warranty, claiming the ware problem was a tire issue. We are now at 18000 miles with no signs of excessive tire wear. Popping noise in front in seems to be getting worse, dealer once stated they tightened the cradle bolts. It had no effect. We again have vibration at highway speed and the rear end wobbles back and forth on uneven terrain.

While driving my steering wheel locked up and the brake would not engage while the engine was still running. And this has happened about 4 times within a couple of months.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. While driving 5 mph, the vehicle made an unknown noise from the two front wheels. When driving over a bump in the road, the contact lost control of the steering. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 11v315000 (steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,211.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger mainstreet. The contact stated that while driving at any speed, the steering wheel vibrated and pulled to the right. The front tires also wore prematurely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure. The dealer balanced and aligned the front tires. The engine was also lifted to inspect the motor cradle. The failure was not corrected. The steering wheel continued to vibrate and pull to the right. The front tires also continued to wear prematurely. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 5 and the current mileage was 9,000.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the steering wheel locked and the vehicle crashed into a fence traveling at 30 mph. The contact had tried to turn the steering wheel but failed when the accident occurred. As a result, the bumper was dislocated and the passenger side tire was damaged. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the police station. The dealer thunderhawk auto sales located at 638 n interstate 35, cotulla, tx 78014 830-399-0559 stated that the vehicle was fine when he first sold the vehicle to the contact. The dealer later texted the contact to remind her to still make the vehicle payments. The vehicle had had many of mechanical issue since it was purchased. The failure mileage and vin were not available.

I am heavily disappointed. I went home to louisiana for easter and it rained quite a bit. I was packing to go home and prior to went to clean out my vehicle to include my trunk. When i pulled everything out...liners and all, the left side of my trunk underneath the liners was soaked. The gray padding on even on the side of the trunk was was wet. I came back home to kansas, yesterday it was the same. We had a storm roll through and again my trunk was even more soaked. I have taken everything out and dried it out, however w the current rain, it does no good. I now do not have a pleasant smell in my trunk. When i read reviews, its apparent that this has been an issue with the dodge vehicle as well as a few other products, how they heck is it ok to acknowledge the problem yet make no effort to fix it and now i have to pay for it? i switched from a nissan altima to this car, big mistake. My nissan would have never let me down, and nissan would have never kept putting the same mistake out there. I have owned three two of which i bought used at, at least 3 years old and one brand new no miles and never once any problems. I was never let down. I bought this dodge 2/8/13, barely 60 days old to me and already pissed off. Way to go dodge.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated when he opened the trunk water was coming from the trunk latch. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The mechanic was unable to diagnosethe failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.

Had hood replace 1st time for rust 7/2015. 2nd time hood flew open while driving, replaced at our cost of deductible 4/2016. Checked hood 8/2016, secondary latch failed, able to open hood with primary only.dealer states now latch has failed. Went back for install, now told stryker studs failed, need another hood. Told ok to drive with both safety devices failed"just dont open hood, you'll be ok. Over three weeks waiting for hood, was told forgot to order.don miller dodge madison wiy.

Paint bubbling along leading edge of hood

Had weight in the back of the vehicle.roads began to become lightly snow covered.back end of car floated, as if not touching the highway.control of the vehicle was minimal.slowed tremendously to ensure a somewhat safe remainder of trip.has happened two other times, always while carrying extra passengers or weight in the car.very concerning.apparently, this is a problem that even the dealer service employees are aware of.there is no real fix.they have set rear alignment to farthest inward position to counteract rear tires bowing out with weight.i am skeptical this will fix problem permanently.then will my next worry be wear on the tires due to incorrect alignment?

This car continues to sway and hop at almost any speed.if you hit the slightest bump the rear end of this vehicle hops as if the tires have actually left the ground.in addition, the car sways left to right especially on the highway at about 65 mph.i have driven in the snow for the last 30+ years and i have never been so white knuckled in the snow.this car feels as if it has zero control in the snow. I have never experienced anything like it.and i am not talking feet of snow, it had literally just started to snow and there was maybe an inch or two on the ground.i have taken it to my mechanic thinking maybe it needed an alignment only to be told the alignment was already spot on ~ i am very concerned that there is a serious flaw in the suspension on this car yet no mechanic or dealer can tell me what's wrong even though they have felt it themselves.somebody please look into this as i see i am not the only person experiencing this horrible feeling :(

I bought my 2011 dodge avenger express used in 2013, a day after i started noticing the rear end fish tailing just going over small bumps. I took it into the dealership and they "saw nothing". Another time i was driving in the rain and lost control of the car because it fish tailed. I was able to regain control without incident i again took it to the dealer and they told me i may need new tires.i bought 4 brand new tires.this "seemed" to help for the first day or so. I brought it back again and they still "don't see anything wrong". I am fearful for my life each and every time i drive this car especially in wet or snowy weather. I have driven in snow and rain for 20 years and have never had this happen to me. I should not have to be afraid to have my children or myself in my car. Please dodge research this serious safety concern before someone becomes seriously injured or god forbid dies. I can see by the others here that i am not the only one having these same issues.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that whenever traveling over uneven pavement, the vehicle would shake uncontrollable. The contact stated that the failure felt as if the rear of the vehicle was not contacting the pavement when the failure occurred. The failure caused the windshield wiper to become detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was advised that the suspension and struts were not in need of repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 36,000 and the failure mileage was 41,000.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that there was a failure with the suspension. When traveling over unleveled land or in inclement weather at various speeds, the rear suspension swayed back and forth. The contact had to apply force to the steering wheel to prevent the vehicle from swaying on the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at least four times, but they were unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. The vin was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the suspension was unstable and the rear of the vehicle swayed back and forth causing a vibration near the back seats. The contact indicated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive at any rate of speed. The vehicle was taken to more than one dealer and they were not able to provide a remedy. The contact received two alignments and the control arms were replaced; however, the remedy failed to repair the issue. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

I bought this vehicle in the fall of 2013. I have had multiple occasions where the car fishtails in wet or snowy conditions. I transport 4 children on a daily basis, and this car scares me. I have driven in winter conditions for many years, and i have never experienced the terror this car causes. I have to drive 25-35 mph anywhere i go on wet or even mildly snowy roads or lose control of this car. I also know a few other people who have the same issues i have, with the same car. I have also found many similar complaints online with this vehicle as well as its sister vehicle the chrysler 200. I do believe a serious investigation needs to be done on this vehicle before anyone is seriously hurt or killed in an accident because of this issue.

Rear of vehicle feels like it's on casters. Feels like it's going to fishtail

Rear shifts side ways when going over any bump or expansion joint on road. Driving in snow or ice is very dangerous because rear is always sliding back and forth had car checked align is good they said sway bar is conected too far away from wheels allowing rear to sway.

When traveling at 55 or faster the rear of the car sways/bounces sideways on bumps in the road. The more weight in the back seat or trunk area the more it sways/bounces. I have taken it to 2 dealers and they both could not find anything. I have had an aliment done but they said it was not needed and they could not find anything wrong. They said to take it to a dealer and have the sway bar checked. I'm have gotten no were with this problem.

I am having back suspension problems where the car fishtails bounces you feel like you are shifting from side to side and it's once you go over 10 miles an hour it can happen going over a small bump it has happened multiple times i've had to replace my all my tires three times i've only had the car almost two years i've replaced my sway bar i pretty much have replaced my whole back suspension and it did not help. It is whether you're going straight or not the backend still shifts all the time when you're in motion when you're sitting still you don't feel nothing i've heard crunching going over bumps i've heard crunching turning the whole back suspension is a piece of crap. Otherwise i love the car but that is something you guys need to investigate on the car i feel so unsafe i feel like my car is just going to roll or i'm going to flip it or something if i'm going into a full turns at all while in motion

I have no heat in my car due to the heater core being plugged. The dealer said it's due to a manufacturer defect .

Heat functions properly on the driver side but blows cold air on the passenger side. The windshield defrosts on the driver side but does not defrost on the passenger side.

2011 dodge avenger. Consumer writes in regards to safety recall not being repaired on vehicle to date. *ldupdated 09/29/2017

A known issue with 2011 doge avenger where the heater core goes bad .it's a known issue and should be covered by dodge. I shouldn't have to pay $1k out of pocket . I have read hundreds of forums stating the problem and it has never been addressed . Ridiculous by dodge.

Unable to defrost windows (or heat cabin) in cold causing dangerous driving conditions.although not recalled, manufacture defects are well documented causing the heater core to plug from sand and casting debris.

Passenger defrost blows cold air which means it is not clearing the windows in inclement weather.the frosting of windows has created safety issues for me because on a busy road i have almost had an accident.

Passenger side heat stopped working.cold air blows out of vents on passenger side near door and right middle vent.as well as defrost vents and feet vent on passenger side. Driver side vents are blowing luke warm air.not hot.roughly48k miles on car. Have seen many other complaints about this.

The passenger side blows cold air when the heat is on. It doesnt defrost the window on the passenger side which is then a safety hazard for me and pedestrians. The passeger side vents blow cold air regardless of if im moving or not moving.

Heater blows hot air on driver side and cold air on passenger side.

My wife brought a 2011 dodge avenger 2 months ago the ac/ heater system is not working properly, when the heat is turned on ,or temperature is turned to hot the driver side delivers warm air ,and the passenger side is cold, all three actuator we're replaced and the new thermostats were also replaced.... I have readed about this car having these issues, ialso took it to a mechanic and he stated ,that dodge is commonly known for this problem....i honestly feel that this is their responsibility and should fix our car at no charge...

Heater will not work properly. I've had thermostat changes, heater core, and it still will not work

My car stalled 3xs has to replace ignition control switch. My heat doesn't work on passenger side. My lights flicker as i accelerate on expressway or even on the street now. Motor on passenger window went out

The heat blows warm on the driver side and freezing cold on the passenger side seat and window. Therefore, only half of my window will get defrosted. This happens whether i am driving or sitting idle.

I have a 2011 avenger and the heat stopped blowing on the passenger side. It only works on the drivers side.i have heard and seen many complaints on this.

I own a 2011 dodge avenger...which has no heat. It started with cold air on passenger side and now there is no heat at all, and living where its 20 below, it isn't fun driving to work in the morning. I have replaced the temp sensors, control knobs, actuator, have flushed the radiator 3x have flushed the heater core 3x. Each flushing produced sand. I don't believe i should of had to pay for this as it is the fault of dodge!! i have never owned anything but a dodge but this issue is making think differently about dodge. U would think that dodge would take care of there customers....i think dodge should do a recall on this. If something isn't done i'm changing i believe. Sad sad sad!!!

The heater only somewhat works. The driver side blows luke warm air if lucky and passenger side blows ice cold. This causes dangerous driving due to poor visibility inside car. Have replaced thermostat 3 times and had system flushed as advised. I have had problems with both ac/heat since i bought the car. This has been an ongoing issue. Antifreeze also leaks from front of car and into driver side floor board

This is another complaint adding to the list of disappointed customers about the passenger side heat not working. I bought a used 2011 3.6l dodge avenger a week ago from a dealership. Less than 100,000 miles.everything about this car appeared to be in great shape and working order. I checked all the vents when i initially started up the car. They were all blowing air which seemed to be a good sign..it was cold out so i assumed they all would blow heat eventually.as i'm test driving the car, the heat on the driver side cranks up. "great the heat works." i thought as i continued to test the rest of the car out..happily drove off the lot..btw i checked for recalls before buying the vehicle and contacted nhtsa and gave them the vin# which i found 1 unserviced recall but was willing to fix on my own knowing it was covered by dodge.....days later..my first passenger brings it to my attention that cold air was attacking them (as i sit comfortably in a reasonable temperature).so like everyone else dealing with this matter, i started to research reasons why such a thing was happening and looking for a solution. After having a couple of mechanics take a look at the car (hoping its just a blend door issue - hell of alot cheaper of a problem) it turns out it would cost me about 20% (or close to $2000) of what i paid for the car! this is not a normal problem. I have spent the same amount of time enjoying the car as i have regretting it. Unless this gets fixed (paid for) by the manufacturer i can't see how i can ever again support this brand..i hope this complaint reaches dodge and they do right by their customers!! - dodge do the right thing and fix this!

My 2011 dodge avenger heat has a heating problem.the passenger side heat/defrost only blows cold air.i put the fan on high and still only cold air.when warming car up with remote start the car is not warm after 10 to 15 minutes causing the passenger side windshield to not defrost. I drive 50 miles one way to work and am freezing when i get there.i have seen forums where this is happening to many other people.

The heat from the passenger side does not work. The air works great, but no heat.this was just noticed a couple of weeks ago.i took the car to the dealer that i purchased it from and the cost will be $1,002.80.i feel this should be something that is fixed without me having to pay so much.i have only had the car for 1 year.i have read that there are several people that have the same problem.should be a recall................

There was an exhaust leak under the driver's seat which caused me (only driver) to become very very sleepy. I was in the car for 5-10 minutes when i felt the sleepiness. I had to open windows for fresh air in order to make it to work (20 min. Drive) without having to pull over. The sleepiness started about 3 weeks before it became really bad. I was on a 4 hour trip & after an hour i had to repeately pull over, one to sleep for about 30 minutes. At the time i did not make a connection with what was happening. I attributed the sleepiness to being tired but after the third day of serious sleepiness, i thought there had to be something with the car because it only happened in the car although there were several days that i wasabnormally sleepy at work in the morning hours. I believe that was a carry over from the trip to work each morning.there is a vocational school in the public school system where i work so i took it to the teacher of the mechanic's class. They have a machine that shoots smoke through the exhaust system & there was smoke coming through a crack in the exhaust pipe located directly beneath the driver's seat. I went to the doctor for a blood test to make sure i did not have any carbon monoxide in my system. The results showed me at a level 1, the range is from 0-2. The mechanics repaired the leak with a special puddy. The drive to work everyday is a twenty minute drive each way on a four lane highway. The first incident was april 23, 2016. The other incidents were the week of may 16th. I was exposed to the fumes for about three weeks before it became really bad.

Heat only blows hot on drivers side.

No heat on passenger side had the heater core flushed did no good was told there was left over sand from engine cast. This should be fixed by chysler! i don't have $1500 to fix a problem that they are well aware of.

Problem with the air conditioning system where the passenger side of the car will blow cold air and the drivers side will blow warm air despite this being a single zone a/c system. This issue started after heavy acceleration getting on the highway when i saw smoke billow from the center a/c vents. I pulled the car over and looked under the hood, but found nothing burning. It was later that day when i noticed the issue of the passenger side cooling and the drivers side not. After much reading, this is a wide spread issue affecting multiple model years.

For the 3rd or 4th time my car has suddenly lurched/jerked forward for unknown reasons. The first two times i was at a red light intersection and all of the sudden the car unexpectedly jerked forward without warning or explanation. I researched it online and found similar issues with other dodge owners. Some mentioning the throttle positioning sensor. I'm not a mechanic so i have no knowledge as to what is occurring. This latest occurrence caused a minor slow speed 'bumper tag' bump to the car ahead of me to the car ahead. My dashcam captured the incident. The dashcam video is *.mov format but is very clear in 1080p with speed, date, and time stamped. If you would like that i would need to email that other than this website platform. You will see the bumper collision occurred at 3mph. No marks were left on either vehicles.

Heat and defrost on passenger side blows out cold air only. Replaced actuator and no change. Drivers side works as it should.

The heater doesn't work properly.the passenger side always blows cold air.the driver side blows warm

The passenger side is blowing cold air with the heater ison. We went to the dealer, where we have the extended warranty, and they said the heater core is partly plugged & that it will need to be replaced at the cost of $1300, and that is not covered under the warranty. They are saying that there is leftover sand from the engine cast when dodge first put the car together. The sand made its way into the bottom half of the heater core that the passenger side uses for heat. I think dodge should pay for their mistake. I can be driving 30 or more mile and the heater on the drivers side can not keep up with the cold air.

Heating system blowing cold air out the passenger side vents, while the drivers side is warm .

Heaterblows hot air on the drivers side and cold on the passenger side. Doesn't matter if the car is sitting or moving, no heat comes from the passenger side. Safety issue due to being unable to fully defrost the car!!

Car will break down (total loss of rpms, not power). Has happened several times on the highway, on a bridge and in residential area. The car will start back up after 1-2 hours with no issue. 5 mechanics, including the dodge dealership, have been unable to find the issue and/or resolve.

My car blows cold air on the passenger side of the car.i took it in january of 2016 and spent almost $1k to replace heater core and took it in again october 2016 for same issue.the repair shop told me that they would flush it really well and spoke to a dodge dealer and it is a known design flaw but there is no fix.the best they could do was flush with mopar cleaner and replace coolant (another $200) and hope for the best.this was a fix but will not resolve the issue.i've owned the car for 3yrs and make car payments and have spent $1200 in last 9mos.got the car back a week ago and already blowing lukewarm on passenger side and will no doubt be blowing cold by winter. Looking online it is a known issue and complaint of 2010-2012 avengers.why is the issue not being handled and how much do us consumers have to spend?? dodge should stand behind their products. It's not a "safety" issue but when weather drops to 10 below and i'm literally freezing... How is this not a safety issue? how much more am i going to have to spend? i can't afford constant repairs for same issue.fix the issue so i can love my car again.

Just bought this car yesterday. The heat does not work blows out cold air all the time. The heat just quit working right before winter is about to start. I've been reading this exact problem with many others.

The car only has heat coming out of 1 vent and it's warm not even hot. I've had lines flushed, actuators and blend door replaced and it still doesn't work. When it's cold the car doesn't get above 40 degree's. It's unacceptable as i have 2 kids and can't have them in freezing temperatures. Apparently this is a defect with the vehicle and dodge/crystler refuses to fix it

The heat on my passenger side was blowing out cold air and also making a noise replaced the actuator still no heat i've heard this is a popular issue is these vehicles.

Heater/defrost does not blow hot or even warm air on the passenger side. I have been having this problem for 4 years and have had it flushed and checked. I'm told this is a known issue but dodge does not cover it.

All the sudden my dash defogger on passenger side and passenger defogger are blowing cold air and drivers side is warm. Googled issue and it seems to be a big thing

The heating system only blows cold air needs a heating core this problem started 3 years ago it eventually did not blow hot air at all.

Replace heater coil and accuator still no heat and defroster don't work

Takata recall heat in the car is not working.passenger side doesnt work at all.the drivers side works at times but not really.i got air conditioner fixed and supposedly heat was fixed same time from dodge dealership in toms river it was not.

While my 2011 dodge avenger is idling and slowing down it continues to stall out. It also sometimes does it while i'm driving too. I then have to put the car in park and restart it and put it back into drive in the middle of the road. There is no check engine light and no notifications under the system check dash light.

Heater blows cold on passenger side of car and warm on drivers side of car. Won't defrost the windshield for many miles. Dealer said it's heater core and not covered under warranty.this is a common issue with these cars and should be a recall from dodge. Sand and metal fragments from the factory engine mold gets into the water system and in time plugs the heater core or radiator in time.this is a recall issue. Or should be

My heater isn't blowing warm air out of the passenger side of the car, only the driver side. Thinking the door/flap isn't working properly.

Defroster only works on high. Drove for 40 minutes had to keep fan and heat control on full the whole time to keep windshield cleaned off.side windows never cleared off.

I have never received a recall letter but there are several that are open. This vin is also on the buyback list and i've called two local dealers to ask about it and they won't give an answer but 'we can trade in'. I've also call fac. I bought it certified used.

My heater only blows warm air on the drivers side.

The heater is not working properly. It blows warm air on the drivers side, but blows ice cold air on the passengers side. I have had this issue for two years and we have not found a resolution for it yet even after having it looked at and 'fixed' multiple times. I've heard this is a known and common issue.

Window defrost and passenger heat /air. While either in motion or while driving, no heated air exits the passenger side of the windshield defroster, nor the passenger window defrost, lower and center console vents. Heated air only exits the driver's side windshield and driver's side dash vents. Problem persists through all cabin air modes, and circulations. This safety issue effects visibility and passenger safety by failing to defrost/defog windows and keeping cabin tempuratures near or below freezing during cold weather (blowing cold air into the cabin)."

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the etc warning light illuminated and the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the etc throttle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the etc warning light illuminated again. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air filter needed to be replaced and that the fuel injection needed to be cleaned. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 13,000.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger.the contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the electronic throttle warning indicator illuminated as the vehicle lost power.this the failure was recurring.the vehicle was taken to authorized dealer, who indicated that the electronic throttle control box needed to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 69,500. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the vehicle was driving at idle speeds when there was an increase in engine rpms and the vehicleacceleration increased. The failure was resolved temporarily when the engine was restarted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was not contact. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 640 and the current mileage was 1010.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle jerked and lost power. The vehicle failed to accelerate past 20 mph and the electronic throttle control warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be cleaned. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle control, pcm and throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the etc warning indicator illuminated and then the vehicle started to slow down to approximately 5 mph. The contact had to maneuver to the side of the road because the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was restarted and there was no acceleration. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic and the diagnosis was that the etc was damaged and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 182,000.

The car continues to accelerate when you remove your foot from the gas pedal. This is an intermittent problem. Car has been to the dealership 4 times for the same issue. Repair technicians have been unable to duplicate the issue.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that while exiting a driveway at 20 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently up to 40 mph. The contact depressed the brake pedal but the vehicle failed to slow down or stop. The contact crashed into a post. There were no injuries. The contact was able to place vehicle in neutral and turn the vehicle off. Once restarted, the failure was resolved. The vehicle was taken to dealer however the dealer was unable to duplicate failure.the manufacturer was made aware of the issue however no assistance was provided. The current and failure mileage was 39,000... Updated 08-27-12 updated 08/30/2012

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to emit heat on the passenger side. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to nhtsa. All the sudden my dash defogger on passenger side and passenger defogger are blowing cold air and drivers side is warm. Googled issue and it seems to be a big thing

"window defrost and passenger heat /air.

No heat on passenger side.makes for uncomfortable temperature and lack of visibility on passenger side

Passenger-side defroster/defogger blows cold air rendering visibility during inclement weather, or cold season. Several near-miss occurrences on road way due poor visibility on passenger-side windshield and passenger-side window. Passenger-side heat inoperable. Replaced passenger-side blend door actuators. Flushed heater core (temporary fix), but reoccurring problem.

Heat from my vehicle only comes out of my drivers side. This is causing half of my windshield to not be defrosted in the morning and i have to drive under those conditions

My heat on my passenger side never works, it will blow at nothing causing issues with defrosting passengers window and issue with defrost on my main window on passenger side. All other vents blow out but that one makes a whistle noise and noting comes out. It's like it's blocked, i assumed it was just the car, after going over in a lane on my passenger side and hitting another vehicle because i could barely see out my window to view my mirror, i looked more into it and have since realized i'm not the only one, in fact multiple other complaints have been filed and dodge has done nothing to fix this. Get it together!

My car stalled 3xs has to replace ignition control switch. My heat doesn't work on passenger side. My lights flicker as i accelerate on expressway or even on the street now. Motor on passenger window went out

Right side defrost doesn't work causing little to no visibility and poses a safety concern. Dealership said blend door actuator was bad. Replaced and still nothing. After researching found manufacture defect, the heater core clogs, warranty will not cover due to manufacturer defect and dealership denies any defect and wants full price to fix (over half the value of vehicle) i refuse to let my children ride in this vehicle during winter or cold weather!

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. Whether the vehicle was being driven or parked, the defroster failed when activated and obstructed the contact's visibility. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was driven to a mechanic who flushed the radiator lines and installed a new thermostat, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.

Heater only blows hot air on drivers side vent. Middle two vents are cool air and passenger vent is very cold air. It is causing the same effect on my windshield, which is causing serious visibility issues across half of my windshield due to nothing defrosting the entire passenger side.this does not change even after my car has been running for 45 minutes and more. This is a serious issue seeing as i cannot see to drive safely for myself and any passing by vehicles. We also have children and the temperature has been in the single digits this past week, ive had to pack blankets on top of them in the car (since they cannot wear thick coats while in a carseat) just to attempt to keep them warm and even then they are complaining that they are cold. For a vehicle that i still make payments on, i expected to atleast stay warm and be able to see where im driving during cold temperatures. Please address this issue asap.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the wipers operated non-stop while the vehicle was in motion. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Driver side blows hot air and the passenger side blows cold air.whether on the windshield or through the vents.passenger side fogs up and doesn't clear where the driver side is fine.

I have a 2011 dodge avenger express and have an issue with my windshield wipers. They only work on the high setting. When i went to the local dealer they told me that i needed a new motor that would cost $200. When i took it back in for that repair they told me that a new motor wasn't called for but a tipm was needed at the request of dodge/chrysler at the cost of $800.00.there is a recall for the tipm but it starts in june of 2011 and my car was made in february of that year. Is there something i can do? there is no way i can come up with $800.0 for this.

Wipers stop working, the lights would not turn off, and the brake light come at random while vehicle in motion

Hot air from drivers side and cold air from passenger side. I live in maine. I had a couple rough winters because we couldn't find out what it was. I found out what it is but i can't find a garage to put it in. This is a server visibly concern. The trunk and inside the car leaks above the windshield causing the car to smell musty and cause mold. Above the windowsheid where it leaks is causing moisture inside and making the visibility almost impossible at times. This car has had two owners with less then 100,000 miles. Family owned

Car has no heat on passenger side and a little on the drivers side.in my investigation the heater core from the factory has some bad spots on the inside that cause metal to build up inside heater core causing this issue.in the winter makes it sometimes impossible to see out the front windshield because it will not defrost the winshield. I think this is a safety issue that should be covered under a recall by dodge. It happens when the car is driving on any road.this is an issue known by dodge and they dont want to do anything about it.

Defroster vent is not putting out hot air on the passenger side of vehicle. This causes the passenger side windows and approx. 1/4 of the front passenger side window to fog and or frost over causing serious visibility issues! vehicle can be stationary, in motion, on the road, it happens at anytime. Vehicle repair shop said it is a chrysler manufacturing defect with the heater core on the dodge avengers. Repair shop flushed the heater core but stated this is a temporary fix as the issue will continue to reappear until chrysler admits there is a safety issue and issues a recall to rectify the defect. Due to the windows fogging and or frosting over in cold weather, this is a very serious issue that chrysler needs to take care of asap. This defect could cause accidents due to visibility resulting in serious injury or death!

I have never received a recall letter but there are several that are open. This vin is also on the buyback list and i've called two local dealers to ask about it and they won't give an answer but 'we can trade in'. I've also call fac. I bought it certified used.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to emit heat on the passenger side. The vehicle was taken to baxter chrysler (17950 burt st, suite a, omaha, ne 68118, phone: (402) 493-7800) where it was diagnosed that the heater core failed and need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The manufacturer stated that there were no other complaints on the failure and did not offer assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.

The contact owns a 2011 dodge avenger. While driving 40 mph, the heater blew out cold air on the passenger side and hot air on the driver's side only. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the heater core needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.

After 80'000 miles shifing problems, the car will not go into reverse. Will not back up. Along with seat belt issues.
