Warning light airbags

I was driving down the highway and getting back to speed and heard a bang.didn't hit anything and the driver's and passenger side airbags deployed.i was not injured and injured no-one else.my windshield on the passenger side was severly cracked.now i'm between a rock and hard place, my insurance says that it may not be covered since i didn't collide with anyone, and i'm over my 36000 miles by 260 miles.please if you have a dodge avenger do not ignore the airbag warning light, i could've killed numerous people that day and by some higher power did not.

It began with the air bag light going on and off as well as the air bag sound. It became more frequent and occurred mostly when taking a left hand turn. Concerned that the air bags might deploy, i pulled the fuse. When turning the steering wheel, there is a spring noise behind the steering wheel that pings in either direction.

I was traveling down a busy road when a truck pulled out in front of me with no time to stop and smashed my whole front end in mainly on the passenger side and i had no air bag depolyment

The contact owns a 2009 dodge avenger. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, another vehicle crashed into the front passenger's side of the vehicle as the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed however, there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and repaired. The repairs were unknown. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. In addition, the contact stated that one year later, the air bag warning light re-illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000 and the current mileage was 115,416.

Air bags blew up when parrell parking bumped a car in front of me at 1 mile per hour and boom.

There is a recall on the pcv on the year make and model and my check engine light is reading that it is bad but they say that my vin does not match for recall but yet my year make and model does

The pcmcia light comes on then goes off.car will some times chugs and wants to shut off in motion

I have a 2009 dodge avenger. My airbag light keeps coming on and off intermittently. Is it dangerous?

Air bag light constantly coming on and off, beeping, and sometimes just stay on. Brake lights continually come on- every few months for weeks at at a time. Also feels like car wants to give out a lot.

While driving a 2009 dodge avenger from national car rental (~11,000 miles on the vehicle) at 70 mph on a florida toll way, the airbags deployed. There was no collision or contact with anything (animal, road debris, etc.), the road was flat and straight, and there were no circumstances or events that would have caused the airbags to deploy. I was talking on a cell phone using a bluetooth headset at the time and had just moved my blackberry, crossing the steering wheel when the airbags deployed. The force of the passenger side bag deploying severely cracked the windshield.the car was driven to national car rental's return at orlando airport.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge avenger.the contact stated that the vehicle stalled on the highway while driving 65 mph.both the dealer and manufacturer were notified, but denied any assistance with repairs of the failure.the vehicle was then towed to a local mechanic. 2009 dodge avenger rpms would rise and fall 200-300 at idle. Exhaust/muffler would rattle. Have been to multiple shops and they cannot diagnose the problem. It is taking longer to start up.the alternator was replaced 2 months ago. The battery was replaced last week. Yesterday, it was checked by an autozone employee for codes and nothing came up.i started the car and it quickly died there after. Drove it around all day after that and not a problem. Today it had a very rough start, rpms went above 2000 and back down to about 400, constantly, and car was shaking a lot. I backed out of the garage and while i applied the brakes, it almost died. I barely got it in park before it did die. The whole time the check engine and etc lights stayed on. This is a first for both to stay on. Etc has came on before and stayed, then never showed up for another 1-2 years (now0. Car has almost 87,000 miles.

Red lighting symbol appears on the dash while i'm on the highway. Suddenly my car loses its horsepower and i begin to coast. I pull over to the side and the car begins to shake violently until i put it in park. When in park, the car idles to about 2500 rpm. Driving down the road and out of the blue my rpm shoots almost to the red and felt like it had the hiccups. The vehicle stalls, and the engine revs up when braking, it lists a misfire on the code reader. Not sure what this is but the internet says it may be a need for a reprogram the transmission/pcm. If it needs reprogrammed that should be a recall! this is a safety issue when braking to have the engine rev.

Going home from work, approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from my job, and traveling at approximately 40-42 mph my engine just stopped....no sounds, no warning lights, nothing.just tried to up my speed to go up a very small incline, and nothing...headlights still worked, no power steering, no brakes.......managed to pull over.........shaking like a leaf on a tree, because i am 65 years old, alone, no family to call, no one.....and this was a little after 9pm at night on nov 2nd. Called my mobile mechanic the next day and he gave me this info to file a complaint. He said this is very serious.i was on buford hwy <four lane road> speed limit 45 mph going straight and approaching a red light on a very small incline.

I have a 2009 dodge avenger that is operating unsafely. It continues to maintain its speed when i take my foot off of the accelerator, and doesn't slow until i press on the brakes!it also to lurches forward when automatically downshifting, causing me to brake even harder with near misses in all of these situations. I initially worked with la mesa dodge dealership, where i purchased the car, but after several months, poor cust svc and no resolution, i took the vehicle to hine dodge in mission valley, ca. The service mgr and svc advisors have driven the vehicle. All verbally admitted that they experienced the situations i described above. The vehicle operation was recorded and sent to a chrysler service rep, who replied the "vehicle operates as designed." although the svc advisors/mgr has verbally described their experience to me, they have not documented anything on the service sheet. I have verbally stated many times that this vehicle "is unsafe to drive" and the serviceman have also verbally told me they agree "it is unsafe to drive" yet i am expected to pick it up without resolution. I am dropping the car off tomorrow, and will not pick it up from the dealer until the issue is resolve. Enough is enough!! i am tired of driving an unsafe vehicle, and putting myself and my loved ones in harms way. What are my rights as a consumer to get the accurate documentation on service sheets? i am hoping that the last "recordings" taken last week will actually provide some evidence of the "unsafe operation" of the vehicle, but my ongoing negative experience leaves me worried, and leery that the chrysler corporation will acknowledge this serious problem. The transmission was completely replaced in 2010, and the problem became worse, and more frequent. I am constantly having near miss accidents when taking my foot off the accelerator, and the car does not slow down, and then when braking, it accelerates when downshifting. Please help. I am exhausted and need advice.

The driver seatbelt gets really loose and there is no way to get it tightened. I have had to sit on it to make it tight enough around my waist.

Rear seatbelt buckles.the stitching that holds the loops to buckle / clasp disintegrated.my son was buckled in and i had to brake hard.seatbelt bucket came off clasp / away from vehicle and he hit back seat.checked other buckles and there were all worn out as well.i have the buckles still / replaced them but don't have pictures handy.*dt

Air bag light constantly coming on and off, beeping, and sometimes just stay on. Brake lights continually come on- every few months for weeks at at a time. Also feels like car wants to give out a lot.

We purchased a 2009 dodge avenger in april or may of last year and immediately had trouble with thumping when using brakes. Took to delearship and was told no problem found with brakes. Months later brake pedal started feeling spongy would go to floor with very little brakes. Took to dealership and told no problems found with brakes..

When brakes are applied the front end shakes and the steering wheel shakes so bad that you have to hold it tightly with both hands to control the car. New brakes 3 times, rotors and wheels have been put on car in the past year. Nothing has fixed it. Dodge has not done anything to remedy the issue. Dodge case#20420793 and dealer has replaced and turned rotors several times nothing works.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge avenger. While traveling 20 mph the contact applied the brakes and noticed that the entire vehicled began to vibrate specifically the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the front rotors needed to be replaced. There were no prior warnings and the vehicle had not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were 5546.

I bought the car used at franklin sussex dodge in franklin,nj with 70000 miles and two days after i noticed these problems. I lose control at highway speeds when hitting bumps or on turns.the rear of car sways and feels like a rocking boat and i hold on for dear life.i have had it aligned and it uses up new tires at 20000 miles in rear on inside.there needs to be a recall before someone gets killed to correct rear suspension.

Chrome piece around and on shifter reflect the sun into the driver and passenger face making it difficult/very dangerous while driving.chrysler has nothing to put over or even replace these pieces.on bright days for a two hour time period this happens.

I was traveling down a busy road when a truck pulled out in front of me with no time to stop and smashed my whole front end in mainly on the passenger side and i had no air bag depolyment

There was no indication of damage. Apparently, it was just a hole.

All of my valve stem's on my vehicle had to be replaced due to material defect,i contacted dodge and reported the defect to them last july (2011).however they failed to take any action on the matter, this past friday my wife took her 2009 dodge caliber in for new tires and found 3 out of 4 valve stems were bad on her vehicle as well. I called the local dodge dealer to find out if the valve stem's had been recalled, i was told they were not and that the cost would be $102.00 a tire to be repaired.i been told that this is a known problems for this year of vehicle with dodge.

Started getting a obd code 2017 and 2004. After replacing the manifold runner control valve the light stayed on and now code says that the circuit is high in bank one. I took off the runner control and tested it so it is a good part,

When i'm driving my vehicle on the highway, residential areas, on a freeway it will stall on me and turn off. When i'm turning the 2009 dodge avenger turns off as well this is a really bad safety hazard myself or someone else can get seriously hurt. It also turns off while i'm at a stop light.

I have a 2009 dodge avenger purchased in 2012. Yesterday i was in a scary situation and could have seriously hurt a child done the dodge. Yesterday morning the car was driving fine i parked, took the key out of the ignition, and started to get out of the car. The car started rolling back i jumped in the car hit the brake, brakes did not work had to pull the emergency brake to stop. At the time there was a child riding by on a bike thank god the emergency brake worked. I pulled the emergency brake just in time.trust me that was really scary too me because out of all the cars i have had this has never happened to me. After i got the car to stop i tried to start the car it would not start. I had to call my brother in-law to look at the car at checking several things and watching several you tube videos we noticed this has been and ongoing problem with the dodge avenger. He figured it was something with the shiftstick and or electrical problems. He got the car started but it would only go in reverse and when he turned the car off it would not crank back up. He tried to reset the car by unhooking the battery cable but that did not work. After several tries he could not get the car to crank back up. I was stuck at the one location from 9am to 9pm. I had to call a tow truck and get it towed to my house. I really want to know what can be done, because i do not feel that i should have to come out of thousands of dollars for something that has been and ongoing issue and is a safety hazard. Not only could i have seriously injured that child, i could have injured myself. I really enjoyed driving my dodge avenger thought it was the best car. Please help!

My car was parked outside and my sunroof exploded and caved in

I was driving out of the city on a street that changes from 25 to 35 mph, i begin to accelerate and the car stalls and the etc light illuminates. Then with more force on the pedal it only goes up to 10 to 15 mph. The car shakes and begins to act weird hard to stop to make a turn into a parking lot. I've almost was forced while braking to pulled in front of cars out of my control due to the jumping and shaking of the car. I then let it turn off after parking. I shut off all electric devices running on the car. I then turn of the fan for ac and heat. I then contact a local independent mechanic. The car was driven back with no stalling no limp mode but the light was still one. Once in the shop he ran the codes all 4 codes came on for etc but the light then goes off. Then it was cleared for a solid 30 minutes. I then drive home from the shop no light until 5 minutes after and no stalling at the time and parked my car in my driveway. I called the mechanic to let him know of the problem had occurred again. Working on price for me to repair. I've seen posted that this is a common issue and happens randomly to people. I also see that the one part was later upgraded. Suggesting the original etc is faulty. I contacted chrysler and was told this is a common issue and that there is no recall currently but i may or may not get a letter in the mail. I asked if there is an investigation or a recall going on and was told that she would not know of this information. Yet this was the recall number for chrysler. I would not doubt they were aware of this and covered it up with the upgraded part to hide the fact that it was faulty from the beginning.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge avenger. The contact stated while driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration power. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was found that the throttle body and alternator had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 105,000.

The 2008 dodge aveneger had 6 recalls. My 2009 dodge avenger is doing everything the 08 was recalled for.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the engine failed to start the and electronic throttle control light illuminated. Additionally, the rpms would not increase over 2,000 when driving at least 55 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealerto have a diagnostic performed but to no avail. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 48,000.

Notice rpm / mph would rev-up ...did not think much of it till i notice, having to applybrake s harder when coming to a stop becuase the car was still acceraling while i was appling pressuretobrake.notice when taking off from a complete stop or partial stop, car would stumble (rpm would drop to zero --just as to stall). Check eng. Light came on took car directly toservice repair shop -code p2017(intake runner valuve error)-replace intak mainfold- (488445aj). Less then 4 hours of pick up, same problem but worst. Back to auto service center they found nothing (no codes ,no errors, no warning lights). Took 2009 avenger to a dealship-told them - driving issues i was having & no warning lights. They came back with same error"foudn cel on found intake mainifold runner value stuck), i told them i just hadpart replaced. They told me the part is defected, to keep my orignal warranty in place it took car back to auto service center which did the orig, job- place part 2 times (maniffold intake -kit) each time the car cont. W/ same driving issues but the last one - no codes/error after running a scan test, car was still stumbling from take off & rpm/mph rev-up when break& coming to a stop it jerks in a forward motion. Back to dealership - they stated could not find any problems. Pick up car -still same issues ,car will be on its way back to a dogde dealership service dept. I feel this issue has gotten to the point of being a safey issue after serveral times not being albe to stop and car trying to stall as i try and cross major roadway. One last issue which i have notice while driving hwy mostly i notice my rpm drop and pop right back up, speed also but not as bad. All the issues appears to besomething is sticking and if its the manifold -what can you do if you can only use dodge parts - replacement(3-x's) within a 3 wks time. Plz advise dodge to review.

Driving down the road and out of the blue my rpm shoots almost to the red and felt like it had the hiccups. Got to work and had the guys to put it on the computer and its giving a power up at speed code . This has been going on for long enough. Sometime the check engine comes on and sometimes it don't.when it does this it scares me and my children . Nobody is sure what the powering up at speed means and what part will fix it.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge avenger. While driving approximately 70 mph, the contact attempted to roll down the front passenger side window when it suddenly slid down into the door. The contact was unable to roll the window back up. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the mechanism that held the window up failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. While driving approximately 45 mph, the failure recurred to the front driver side window. The contact took the vehicle to the certified mechanic who diagnosed the same failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.

Wipers will stop in middle of windshield, or be jerky when moving. If stopped, moving wiper control to next position, or turning wipers back off, then on, will make wipers move a bit more. In a rain storm, have to constantly move wiper switch to make wipers move. Visibility is a disaster. Makes driving in a rainstorm very dangerous.

Window hesitates to roll up on the passenger and driver sides.

Have 10400 miles on 2009 avenger, rolled up window and heard a noise then window fell down, some type of cable broke or came loose, warrenty expired 2 weeks before this happened. Will be contacting chrysler about this problem.

The contact owns a 2009 dodge avenger. The contact stated that after shutting the vehicle off, the sun roof would erroneously open and water would leak into the vehicle. The contact indicated that after turning the heater on, a knocking noise emitted from the vents. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact owns a 2009 dodge avenger. The contact stated that the rear passenger tire failed while driving approximately 65 mph. In addition, the rear driver's side tire failed while the vehicle was parked in a residential garage. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who inspected the tires and located the failure at the valve stem and air pressure sensors, which were corroded due to road salts.the dealer replaced the air pressure sensors and the valves. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that the failure was not recalled. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 54,100 and the current mileage was 54,416.

The tires have a defect all four, bridgestone turanza brand tire have deep cracks around the outer rim of the tire,it first appeared when the season changed from winter to spring it became very noticeable as it became warmer, unable to pass inspection, with tires less than, 26 thousand miles on them.

On 9 june 2012 the vehicle experienced a total loss of pressure to the front driver's side tire at 25 mph. The vehicle was pulled over immediately and the tpms valve had broken apart and fallen into the tire. The sensor/stem was replaced and the wheel and undamaged tire remounted. On 1 july 2012, the monitoring system indicated that there was low pressure to the rear driver's side tire. The vehicle was traveling at 70 mph on the highway. When monitoring the pressure, the psi was dropping about 1 psi every 5 minutes. The vehicle was pulled into the next rest stop 5 miles later and the stem was coming apart in various places. Air was leaking from the base of the stem. The entire sensor was barely being held onto the wheel by what remained of the outside of the stem. The tire was changed and the vehicle driven back home with a spare. After arriving home, the front passenger side stem was found to have split down the middle but still maintaining pressure. The rear passenger side did not appear to have any damage. On 2 july 2012 all sensors/stems were removed from the vehicle and replaced to avoid any future dangerous failures.
