Vehicle was in an accident, and driver's air bag did notdeploy.also, seat belt did not holddriver back.

While in an accident, the driver and passenger side air bags didn't deploy. Please describe.tt

When going down a moutain in foggy weather, driving about (40) or (45) mph, lost control of vehicle and went off the road, car flipped over about (2) or (3) times and hit hillside head on and the air bags did not deploy.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision at 60 mph. Driver's airbag deployed 60 seconds after impact.but, passenger's airbag did not deploy.manufacturer will be notified.

Upon impact estimated speed 30 mph, drivers air bag did not deploy. Please describe details.tt

While driving at 25mph was involved ina frontal collision andnone of the airbags deployed. Vehicle totalled.

Vehicle struck another vehiclefrom behind and air bags did not deploy. The back seat belt that held the css in, came unlatchedwhich made the css fall forward.

Vehicle hit a tree head-on at about 35 mph (est.).neither the driver side nor the passenger side airbag deployed.passenger's head struck and shattered windshield.driver's face struck steering wheel causing damage to mouth and shoulder.extensive damage to the vehicle. Amazing no one was killed or seriously injured.also, i would notice that if i was traveling over about 40 mph, the car would shake when the brakes were applied.car would sometimes stall when stopped.sometimes i would have to take the car out of park and put it back into park before it would start.also the passenger side headlight seemed to not be fully sealed as it always had condensation inside. Noticed the passenger airbag seemed to be sticking out and the glove compartment was difficult to open.i wonder if this car had been wrecked before i bought it.i know i was not told it had been.i just recently learned they do not make avengers anymore.is there a reason for this.are they dangerous.could something have caused this crash other than the driving of the driver.i will be happy to provide my vin number as soon as i can get it.car is in storage now.

Electrical problems.

Dead battery.

Horn buttons mounted on the steering wheel don't work and failed during the 1st year. Dealer reports these are a part of the driver's side air bag assembly. To fix the horn buttons, the air bag assembly must be replaced. Cost of air bag assembly is over $600.

Horn does'nt work due to water getting into the horn assembly.

Car horn fails to workwhen cold temps outside and engine cold.left button on steering wheel never works and right button only works when car is warm.i got hit in a parking lot (luckily low speed) and i couldn't warn the other driver who didn't see me because the horn wouldn't blow.this is a serious problem - what happens on a highway when a driver doesn't see me???i see other complaints on this web site about horns not working and i think it should really be looked into!!

This is a concern.i had my dealership investigate why the horn doesn't always work and the response was that since it is tied to the driver airbag it would cost big dollars to fix.i had an accident in a private parking lot and was unable to warn the other driver that they were about to back into me.it is worse in colder weather.the lack of a working horn is a serious safety issue and i shouldn't have to pay to fix it.it has been a problem from for a long time and this is my 2nd complaint to the nhtsa.

Vehicle stalls in traffic occasionally while driving.

I have contacted local dodge avenger dealers and mechanics and found the head gasket problem to be a defect in the manufaturing of the avenger.this issue needs to be addressed.recently i received a recall on the front suspension ball joint boots on my car.these are expensive items a single mother can not afford to pay.i hope that you will investigate this situation in it's entirety and contact me upon receipt of your investigation. Thank you.

The check engine light came on after the firstsmog check requiredthis year 2000. The dealer reset it the first time. Then it came on again around town at 30mph.this is a still a new car less than 25,000 when it first started. I don't feel we should keep paying to get it repaired i understand that it can be up to approx 17 different things to set it off.at about $400 ea that's expensive.i also find it odd that it just started with a smog check.

Defective radio.

Fog lights failed.

While driving at nightright side headlight has a film or coating that obstructs vision.

Heat from headlights was melting inside of headlight cover.vehicle cannot pass inspection with this problem. Also, high beams have to be activated for driving abilty. Dealer and manufacturer were notified, and have been receivingsame other complaints.both head light lamp assemblies need to be replaced to correct the problem.

The clear plastic headlight lenses on our vehicle are deteriorating to the point that night visibility is severely limited. The deterioration is on the outer surface of the headlight lens, as evidenced by a rough texture. There is no evidence on the painted surface or windshield that this vehicle has been driven or garaged in abrasive or corrosive conditions.

There is a brown fog building up in the headlight lenses, causing the light to be dim making it hard for the consumer to see while driving at night.the cause is unknown and the dealer was notified.the consumer states that there is no moisture build up and is not on the outside of the lights.*scc

While driving consumer noticed that the both driver's sideand passenger's side headlights failed to see due tolens having acloudy residue on them. This causedpoor visibility, consumer wasunable to see. Consumer took vehicle to dealer for inspection, andmechanic stated that the parts for lens were not on recall. Consumer was responsible for the parts and labor.

My 1996 dodge avenger es v-6 has severely pitted headlamp lenses which seriously reduces the effectiveness of the headlamps for night driving and i believe is dangerous. I've experienced this in other cars i've owned, but not nearly to the degree with this dodge. The lenses look cloudy.

I am the owner of a 1996 dodge avenger. I received this car from my father.on february 26 2004 as i was leaving work, something broke.upon having the car towed to the repair shop, i had to have the cv shaft, and the lower control arm assembly, replaced. This cost me out of pocket, $629.45.then on 10/1/04 i had to have the spindle assembly replaced.which cost another $ 325.16.i now realize that there was a recall on the problem with my car.i asked my father, who was the owner of the car at the time of the recall, if he was ever notified about the recall and he said no. I am upset now to find out that there was a recall and i had to pay for all the repairs out of my own pocket.i am asking if there is any way to be reimbersed for some or all of the expense that i incurred.

The brakes pads have worn out on three different occasions. The original set of brake pads went out after the first 4000 miles on the car. The pads were replaced and went out again at 17000. Finally the pads went out again at 41000. The first two times the car was taken to the dealership to have the pads replaced. The third time i took the car to a brake specialist and was told that the calipers caused the two sets of brake pads to go out. I was also told that the rear brakes were not working and had hardly any wear.i have also replaced the rear shocks three times. I have replaced the rear shocks twice in the past year.

In the am on 9/15/03 on the freeway traveling about 65 mph, lateral arm broke off on the left side of my car, causing the left tire to push upwards into the fender and the axle to snap in half. I had to put the car into park at 40 mph to get it to stop so i would not hit the concrete barrier or the i-5 sign.dodge did pay for the car to be repaired, but not more than 2 weeks later the car began to make a noise while reversing and while going over bumps in the road, they told me this is the brakes, but another mechanic said that it is the lateral arm again. The car (1996 dodge avenger es) was in to the dealer for service.the dealer called to inform me that the lower ball joints were ready to fall off the car and needed replaced at a cost of $260.i asked if this was the same ball joint that was covered in an earlier recall.after a long pause, the dealer confirmed that it was, and that they would take care of it (fix at no cost to me).a second service appointment was scheduled for a week later.the car went in, and the dealer replaced the lower control arms.when i picked the car up, i drove off the lot and immediately heard a clanking noise when ever i hit a bump with the right front wheel.i inspected the car myself and found a large crack in the frame around the front-most upper control arm mounting bolt on the right front strut tower.i took the car back to the dealer and the service writer remarked boy, that is the largest crack i've ever seen.you shouldnt drive that car because the wheel could fall off.i suppose the ball joints being bad and hammering the suspension caused that [frame] to crack.however, the service writer had no answer when asked how they missed the crack during the work on the lower control arm the day before.after several calls to the service department, the dealership general manager, and to the dodge customer service phone number; no one at dodge would formally acknowledge that the defective ball joints caused the stress crack or that a problem existed with the upper control arm; despite multiple complaints on the nhtsa website for sebrings and avengers with very similar problems.i have digital pictures of the crack if anyone is interested.it has since been fixed for the safety of my wife and children, however i am very displeased with how it was handled by dodge and the dealer.*la

Received recall94066003. Contacted dealer. Took vehicle in on date. Was informed by mechanic no parts available at this time. Would notify when ball joint parts came in. Been checking off/on & so far no parts.

Dodge is refusing to pay to fix it and when i brought them the car they did not visually inspect the car, they only took it on a test drive. I have been having anxiety attacks everytime i hear that noise, my back and shoulder have been in pain and i have seen a specialist because of this. And to be quite honest i just don't have the money to repair the vehicle myself. Also, the front brake rotars are warped and this is the 2nd time that they have been replaced in the 3 1/2 years i have owned the vehicle. I think that is a bit much.

Right front lower control arm failure. Noise in the front end were present.

While driving at any speed therewas a loud under carriage noise coming from the ball joints. The noise was mild at first, but then the noisereally became loud. Consumer was shown a printout by dealership which did not include this vehicle in recall 99v066003 daimler/chrysler/lower ball joint boot.

Recalled lower ball joint (99v-066) failure was the possible cause of accident which occured prior to recall notification, the cause of the accident was never determined due to other circumstances.nlm

Consumer received a recall notification and made an appointment, however when she arrived the parts were not available, a week later the parts came and consumer took vehicle back and hours later consumer was informed that another day was needed to complete the work.

I was driving out of a fast food restaurant, and without any sign or warning my tire snapped off my axle! the service department at the local dodge dealership was closed so i had to have my car towed to another place that also works on my car whenever i have problems. The part that needed to be fixed was the "lower arm control" on the driver's side of my car. I was very lucky that day, because not more than 15 minutes before this incident i had just driven home, approx. 10 miles, on the highway in 5 o'clock traffic!! i did not get hurt!! i was never mailed a recall notice about the lower arm control; not even in 1999 or 2000!!!!!!!!! i bought my car brand new from dodge, so i feel like i should have been in somebody's computer system to be able to receive recall notices!!!! now, that i had to pay for the part to be fixed out of my pocket, how do i go about getting reimbursed? i got both the driver's side and passenger side lower arm controls replaced.

Per two separate recall notice i received from daimler chrysler, i brought my 1996 dodge avenger into a dealership to have the lower lateral arm ball joints inspected and resealed.upon taking it to the dealership they inspected and both times they told me no further work was needed.specific instructions from daimler chrysler say,if the ball joints are not damaged or worn, the ball joints will be sealed.this was not done to my vehicle and on 11/21/05 while driving i lost the ability to steer when the ball joint separated.

In the am on 9/15/03 on the freeway traveling about 65 mph, lateral arm broke off on the left side of my car, causing the left tire to push upwards into the fender and the axle to snap in half. Defective nuts came off the bolts on theball joints on the driver's side lower control arm which caused ball joint to cease which may have caused a crash.previously, this vehicle was part of the lower ball joint recall.

I was driving on the side streetwhen my front wheel bent inward and my car dropped to the ground. Had it towed to dealership and he claimed to fixed it. So about 1 week later, while on the express way going about 65mp my lt. Drivers side tire bent inward causing my to be all over the road in rush hour. But somehow i mananged to control the car and not have any vehicle crash nor damanges. It is a wounder i and here to talk about it. Still fussing with carlot!

In sum, i was driving the above vehicle and about to make a right hand turn and there was a sudden jerk and the drivers side front of the vehicle had collapsed onto the ground.the drivers side lower ball joint had cracked causing the wheel to fall off and causing major body damage to the front end and the front fender.also causing damage to the brake lines and the drive axle.this sudden crash also has caused soreness to my back and neck.on june 12, 2001 i had taken my vehicle to midway dodge, 4747 s pulaski, chicago il 60632, 773-376-8060 for recall #00v421002, which was for the inspection of the lower lateral arm ball joint for wear.i was told that my vehicle had passed the test designed for this recall and nothing was done.on 25jun01 my ball joints from my vehicle failed causeing the above damage and injuries.

While driving 55 mph, the lower later arm ball joint separated and caused the front left wheel to detach.the vehicle wasinvolved in a collision.tthe driver lost control and the vehicle hit a bridge.the lower lateral arm ball joints were inspected twice befrore this failure, once on on 6/5/2001 under nhtsa recall# 00v421002.during the inspection the dealer's technician found no problem and no repairs were done.

Consumerhad recall 00v421002 lower ball joint boot, done on 12 june 2001. Dealer did not replace ball joint.on 25 june 2001 while driving 5 mphdriver side of vehicle dropped. Dealer had to replace broken ball joint.

The contact owns a 1996 dodge avenger.in 2005, while driving approximately 55 mph, the contact lost control and the vehicle pulled to the right.she depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle would not stop.the vehicle crashed into a dirt hill.she had the vehicle towed to a repair shop and was informed that the lower ball joints failed.a police report was filed.the contact paid for the repair.one year later, the failure recurred.the vehicle is currently parked at her residence.dodge wants to conduct an investigation on her vehicle, however, they are asking her to pay out of pocket for the repairs.the contact refuses because she believes this is a manufacturer defect.the vin, engine size, and number of cylinders were unknown.the failure mileage was 128,000 and current mileage was 140,000.

Recall repair regarding the ball joints was complete on vehicle, however the wheel came loose while driving, also the ball joint fell apart and now consumer has to pay for the suspension and body damages.

The lower control arm on the left side is going and i've gone to deluca chrysler in haverhill ma twice and both times told me that it was already serviced and when i asked him what side was serviced he couldn't answer me and i asked him if they could check my since it should still be covered under recall warranty he told me no and just today i was told that any repair like control arms, tie rods, ball joints and struts are supposed to be repaired in pairs and they only repaired the right side on 8/6/02.

My daughter, michelle owned a 1996 dodge avenger es which she lost her life in. On october 6, 2001 she had an accident which the car burst into flames and exploded. It was in for recalls within the previous year for the lower lateral ball joint. On october 2000, her front end of her car fell to the ground, which we reported to you and to daimen chrysler. Daimen chrysler paid for the repairs to her car. Now her car explodes and bursts into flames killing her. She did not die from the injuries of the accident, she died from the fumes and fire. We want to know since there are reports of other daimen chrysler autos that have been in the news as to catching on fire we want it on record that her car also caught on fire. We would like to report this and to possibly save someone elses life. We want to know if the auto manufacturer held information on other makes and models that they were investigating from the consumers for recalls. The accident does not explain why the car burst in flames immediately.
