I purchased a new daewoo nubira in june 2000. In may 2003 the check engine light came on and remained on despite numerous diagnotic and repair attempts. The light remained on for over a year. In january of 2004 i took my car for the now required emissions test, it failed due to the camshaft sensor. I purchased the required part, a camshaft position sensor, on 1/15/04 and paid a mechanic to perform the repairs. The light illuminated again within 3 days of repair. On september 12th, i received a notification of defect from daewoo motoramerica, adressing the said camshaft sensor. One month later the car began to hesitate while i was driving, and would not accelerate smoothly, finally it in may, while i was driving on the highway, all the lights on the instument panel came on, the car began to shake and then just shut down. In regards to the sensor, i believe that daewoo motors was negligent in their responsibility to notify consumers in a timely manner. After visiting several consumer affairs sites, it is apparent that this defect manifested itself as early as 2/2002 for the majority of car owners, yet daewoo has taken 2 1/2 years to notify owners.

The owner manual states to change this at 72,000 miles and when i contacted the manufacture they stated that the warranty is for 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The following complaint pertains to speed control and steering control systems of 2000 daewoo nubira. Speed control:(recurring, unpredictable).problem occurred while attempting to park.pulled into a parking space with foot on brake pedal, engine suddenly raced (as if id floored the accelerator) and car surged forward (foot still pressing brake).had to turn ignition off to stop car.happened again (same day) at a traffic signal.would have rear-ended vehicle in front of me if i had not allowed for distance of two car lengths between it/myself.my 62-year-old mother owns this vehicle.says she uses emergency hand brake when this happens, and initially complained of same problem over a year ago.dealer (hillside auto-mall, hillside, nj) said no problem was found!asked if problem could possibly be due to a manufacturing defect?dealer stated, thats an issue you will have to take up with the manufacturer.we just sell the cars!steering control:(recurring, unpredictable)while driving and/or accelerating vehicle will unexpectedly pull (sharply) to the right and become difficult to control.behavior extremely pronounced in wet weather and when accelerating!no noticeable problem found, but similar complaints are on file!notification of recall:did not receive vehicle recall, nhtsa campaign id number 02v257000, addressing vehicle safety standard no. 106, brake hoses.will seek assistance of the dealership to address this issue.for the record: vehicle is only three years old, and (currently) has registered less than 20,000 miles.of the many complaints on record at this site, those concerning speed control and steering control are the most troubling.are they coincidental!!!my mother will try (again) to get these issues resolved at the dealership where vehicle was purchased.gut feeling, however, is that concerns will not be addressed until someone is seriously injured, or worse.i pray it does not come to that!

The consumer found that the creaking in the front end of the vehicle was due to bad lower control arms.the consumer is waiting on parts, and since then, she has experienced steering jumping, bad handles in wef weather, and the vehicle takes off over bumps.

No events leading to failure.noticed odd steering around march 2004.car pulls to left on acceleration, once car shifts, pulls hard to right.brought to local mechanic in august 2004 after almost hitting a semi. They said control arms/bushings need to be replaced.they found the problem after driving the car less than a mile.they tried to order parts, found they were dealer only parts, prepay only, no returns.local mechanic would not service the car.took it to dealer i bought it from.charged me $50 for diagnositc, even though i told them what was wrong with it.ordered parts on 8/12/04.dealer said it was safe for me to drive, tire will not fall off or anything.recommended no one else to drive it though.car is not safe to drive.unpredictable. The problem is getting worse.i noticed multiple complaints about this same thing.i'm not sure on the status of the parts.i just want it fixed & my car back to normal.

My car neededidler arms and bushing and only has 25k miles and i have been waiting for the parts now since 12/17/02 and the parts are not in as of yetthe problem is worsening and i have called the dealer many times to have this repait done i am afraid to drive cuz it is hard to control the car in the weather we get here. The car should not needthese parts with such low milage when i am not the type to beat my car ...i think this must be defective parts since the dealercommented on replacing several of these parts inthe same make and models.i am not sure what my rights are i did ask the dealer if the car was safe to drive when it was in there on 12/17/02 and they said it was i am very worried the problem is going to cause an accidentand people may get hurt if othershave the same issues...please help protectall daewoo nubria drivers and their families and resolve this issue for me if you can

When the consumer turned the key in the ignition, the vehicle accelerated without the gas pedal being depressed.the front brakes were noisy and were found corroded, a loud noise was coming from the a/c, the cup holder was inoperative, the tech found the fog lamp was inoperative, the trunk was inoperative, the tire was wearing uneven, both front control arms were noisy, there was an electrical wiring problem, the cam belt had broken and there was possible cylinder head damage, the vehicle would not start due to the timing belt which broke and caused the valves to bend. *scthe consumer stated the rear brakes were noisy, there was a loud noise coming from the air condition, the fog lamp was inoperative, the hub cap was replaced, the trunk latch was replaced, the left and right control arms were replaced.

While raining water could leak throughpassenger's side door.technician had tested with water hose to find out where the leak was coming from.water comes from passenger side dashboard not door.windows and windshield fog up when starting the vehicle in the morning.

I have 2000 daewoo nubiria with 65k miles, i received a recall notice for the camshaft sensor.it upset me to learn that my car was not part of the recall.i have had my daewoo since aug 2000.i have had several problems go on with my car.in 2000, door handles peeling off (replaced)in 2002, new door handles peeling off (never received another new pair because of back order)in 2002, replaced back rotors and pads (back brakes locked up while driving, i paid for)in 2004, replaced stop lamp (could not move car into driving gear, i paid for)in 2004, engine check light comes on and off (thought this would be taken care as part of the recall; need to be replaced)in 2004, in line fuse (needs to be replaced)in 2004, lower control arms (needs to be replaced)in 2004, vc gasket (needs to be replaced)i cannot afford to put any more money into a car that is worthless and cannot afford to buy a new car.... I don't know what do!

The front and rear brakes, turn signal bulbs, marker light bulbs and the lower control arm was replaced on numerous occasions, the vehicle stayed out of alignment, which caused extreme tire wear, also the check engine light illuminated.

After receiving a recall notice, the check engine light came on.the consumer took the vehicle to dealership and they did not have parts for recall 04v357000 repairs.the vehicle needed tires, brake hoses, rotors, bushings, gaskets. And a dome light bulb.

Vehicle would vibrate severely when driving 65-70 mph. Vehicle been to the dealer on four occasions, and problem reoccurring. Feel free to provide any further information.

Car has 19000 miles and bushings have gone bad causing the front alignment to be offand have caused the front tires to wear outand have been advised that even if the bushingsare replaced, this problem will happen again due to poor design and structure.*nlm

Consumer's vehicle was travelingon a residential street, and when acelleratingvehicle shook/ vibrated without prior warning.dealershipwas aware of problem.

There aren't any events that led up to the failure.i took my vehicle in for a routine check and was informed of the problem then. The front control arms on my vehicle are worn.i have gone through 3 sets of tires while trying to locate the part to fit my vehicle.my car swerves after reaching a speed of 30 mph.i am unable to drive my car on wet roads because i am not able to control the extreme sliding that occurs.i have contacted over 50 dealerships in my area and outside of my area and have not been able to locate this particular part.parts for my car are very hard to find and very costly.

2000 daewoo nubira front suspension. Failure of front control arm bushing causes severe oversteering understeering and torque steering. This condition is more pronounced during winter driving and and conditions such as highway on ramps where to car will rapidly change direction. This is a very severe saftey problem the lower control arm bushing allows the control arm to shift when acceleration ar decelerating causing the torque steer. From review of the complaints this has been a reaccuring problem without injuries and should be the manufacturers responsability to correct.

I have heard of the right side front wheel bearing failing prematurly with other nubira's.i shouldn't have to be replacing this at the mileage that is on the car.dt

2000 daewoo nubira station wagon.

Daewoo nubira wagon cdx . Multiple brake problems. Had rotors turned 3 times before warranty ran out. Have replaced rotors and pads. I was informed by a mechanic that there is no adustingthe back break callipers. Meaning the back brakes don't work. Brake petal goes to the floor. Slides at every stop.abs has multiple teeth broke. Dealer refused to fix under warranty. Control arms bad. Serp belt bad.tires all replaced. I only have 32,000 miles on car. Can't get collision insurance at fair price.

Thefront control arm bushings wore out at 27, 000 miles.as a result, when applying the brakes a loud squeaking noise was produced.the control arm bushings were replaced. *sc

While driving at any speed consumer noticed a squeaking noise coming from the front. Vehicle was taken to the dealer, and dealer determined that both front lower control arms needed to be replaced.

Consumer states the lower control arm bushings are wearing out the front tires too fast.

Known nubira 2000 problem. Both lower control arms are defective and bushings shot (design flaw). Symptoms of problem include squeak and sludgy shiftiness when turning (not good for wntr driving) along with 2 ruined tires. 19k on car. Warranty expired last month and there's no recourse even though problem existed before that. Tires wear very fast and i was driving an unsafe car.

When accelerating from a stop positionor accelerating while in motionat 45-60 mph vehicle pulled to the left. Vehicle was taken to a repair shop, andmechanicdetermined that the lower control arm needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified.

The consumer found that the creaking in the front end of the vehicle was due to bad lower control arms.the consumer is waiting on parts, and since then, she has experienced steering jumping, bad handles in wef weather, and the vehicle takes off over bumps.

When driving vehicle swayed to the left/right.dealership informed the consumer that the problem pertained to the front lower control arm which was repaired.

Lower control arm has a defect. Dealer has been notified, however the part is not available. Consumer states he needs a right arm control bushing for 2000 nubira.part ordered on 4/23/2002 from dealer.to date, part has not been delivered and has been informed that manufacturer has filed for bankruptcy.vehicle unsafe.

While driving the control arm/ upper arm failed.the driverrequested another vehicle from the dealer but was denied.

On 7/26/04 while travelling at approximately 35 mph, vehicle suddenly died.the timing belt went, damaging valves and cylinder head.fortunately, vehicle had 57,000 miles and was under warranty.however, the front control arms/bushings/ sway bar were also bad.unfortunately, these were not covered by warranty. Items were replaced.now it seems the oil pump is going, oil is leaking and there is low pressure along with catalytic converter going.dealer says these items will be covered.

Engine check engine light is on while driving, and will not go off.manual states not to drive vehicle if this light illuminates.dealer has been contacted.

When the consumer put her foot on the brake, to put the gear into drive, the vehicle all of a sudden lunged forward, the consumer stated there were no brakes.*ph

The consumer found that the creaking in the front end of the vehicle was due to bad lower control arms.the consumer is waiting on parts, and since then, she has experienced steering jumping, bad handles in wef weather, and the vehicle takes off over bumps.

While stopping at a stop light and without warning vehicle accelerated.consumer's foot was on the brakes at the time, and it was necessary to place the vehicle in neutral.this incident occurred three times in three days.vehicle was scheduled for a diagnostic test.*mr

Engine check light illuminated. There was a delay in acceleration. Took vehicle to dealer.dealer replaced 3 sensors to correct the problem.

When putting vehicle in 1 st gear, as soon as foot comes off brake engine revs, and vehicle surges forward. This has happened twice. Currently vehicle at dealer who cannot find cause.

There is vibration when braking. Dealer has replaced front rotors 3 times.brake pedal also feels to be dropping, taking more effort to stop vehicle. Dealer found rotors slightly out of round.location of brake pedal too close to gas pedal.check engine light on.dealer found knock sensor low input.black debris inside coolant reservoir.dealer states deposit in reservoir is normal.

Engine check light is illuminating, indicating thatlooseacceleration will cause vehicle to slow down.

Was pulling into a parking space. Took foot off gas pedal. Depressed brake pedal to slow down when vehicle suddenly andwithout warning accelerated forward.vehicle hit a tree.upon impact, air bags failed to deploy. Driver did not sustain any injuries.

While driving, vehicle will stall when all electric power accessories are on, had taken vehicle to dealership and computerized components were repaired . Problem still exists.consumer stated the battery, alternator fog light assembly and tail lamp assmebly have all been replaced, however the problem still exists.

The front right wheel bearing failed at 57000 miles, part was difficult to find, dealer has been contacted, a recall should be ordered! i have already spent $200 fixing the problem.dt
