While driving at 45 mph vehiclestarted fish tailing and crashed into a dirt mound, and flipped over several times.upon impact, none of the frontal air bags deployed.driver sustained a thorn shoulder ligament, a broken thumb, and bruises.

2001 daewoo lanos bought 3 years ago at a duluth, mn dealership which does not sell such vehicles anymore.has not worked because of electrical problems for over 2 years.

Consumer could not find a dealershipto repair recall 04v357000 cam shaft position sensor free of charge.

Malfunctionconcerning cam shaft position senor in daewoo.a recall had been issued for the sensor, however the consumer was told his vehicle was not included.

Dt*: the contact stated that there was a recall on a sensor for the engine. When the vehicle was taken to the approved dealership for repairs, they would notreplace the part free of charge. The dealership determined the part number of the sensor on this vehicle was not covered for this recall. The consumer declined the repair. Updated 07/11/06.

2001 daewoo lanos check engine light illuminated and black smoke was coming from tail pipe. The valve cover gasket was replaced. The consumer stated the vehicle had a strong exhaust smell and the vehicle would not accelerate over 45 mph.

Dt: the contact stated the local dealer where the vehicle was purchased refused to do the recall work (04v357000).the manufacturer will only respond by stating to take it back to the dealer the vehicle was purchased from.the contact is trying to get the recall work done on their vehicle.

Dt*: the contact stated there is currently not a problem with the camshaft position sensor however a recall letter was received, recall # 04v357000 regarding the engine and engine cooling.the contact has attempted to alert the manufacturer since may 29th without a return phone call.a dealership was alerted however they will not make the necessary repairs until the contact speaks with the manufacturer.also, there is a grinding noise when the brakes are applied at various speeds.

Dt*: the contact stated the check engine light illuminated. The dealership determined the problem could be the cam shaft position sensor, but informed the contact that because the vehicle was not exhibiting serious problems, there was no need to be concerned.an independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and determined the timing belt would need to be changed at 60,000 miles; however the timing belt failed before the 60,000 miles. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where the dealership determined the engine needed to be replaced assuring the contact the new engine would take care of the timing belt and the cam shaft position sensor. The engine was replaced the second week in may 2006.on august 2, 2006 while driving the vehicle 35-40 mph, the contact heard a vibrating noise.after pulling off of the road, the contact observed smoke coming from underneath the hood.eventually, the vehicle was engulfed in flames.the fire department was called. The vehicle was totaled.since this incident, the contact located a recall, nhtsa campaign id # 04v357000; engine and engine cooling on the internet regarding the cam shaft position sensor. Check engine light comes on and coded cam shaft position sensor error. Cost 350 dollars to have sensor replaced after being stranded and the car towed. Part was part of a recall but was ran at the dealership and the individual code was not included in the recall. Heater switch broke within 3 weeks of purchase of car cost 150 to have replaced. Cars value depreciated approx 8000 dollars in 4 years. It has no value according to kelly blue book.

Dt*: the contact stateda recall letter was from daewoo due to a cracked sensor board that may cause a fire.the contact called the manufacturer twice but has not received a response yet.

I own a 2001 daewoo lanos s hatchback and i kept smelling a fuel smell. I removed the back seat and found fuel sitting on top of the fuel pump. I noticed if you shook the vehicle with a full tank of fuel the fuel module would leak. Ipurchased this vehicle brand new and have not doon any work to the fuel system at all. This vehicle has not been repaired due to the lack of parts and no daewoo dealership support. My concern is how many moredaewoo customers have this dangerous problem?

Dt:whiledriving when the automatic gear shiftpulled out of place.it actually pulled completely from the vehicle.put gear shift manually back into the socket by consumer and drove home.when this occurred had only drive, no reverse, parking, or neutral.called aaa, and they towed vehicleto a dealer, and the repaired it. The dealer noted2 screws were missing, and consumer was charged $120 for repairs. Consumer felt this was unsafe. Has not been repaired.the gear shift has not came out after repairs.

Dt*: the contact stated the windshield wipers work intermittently or not at all.there is an nhtsa recall, # 03v159000, regarding the visibility: windshield wiper/washer.the vin was not included in the recall.
