Takata recalli own a 2002 chrysler voyager minivan. At about 85,000 milesi noticed the airbag light on the dashboard was coming on sporadically.eventually it started remaining on all the time from the moment i started the ignition.i took it to a local chrysler dealer to have it inspected.they told me there was a problem with the clock spring and that it needed to be replaced and would cost me about $350.earlier reproductions of this model have been recalled for problems with clock springs but mine is not because it was manufactured two years too late.

Airbag lit stays light al the time,was told it was a bad sensor,there was never a recall for it. You would think there would be since its a safety feature 'air bag light'. The check engine light stays lit too, that has been on since my car had a tuneup done was also told that was a bad sensor . The dealer should recall these features i've heard there was alot of the same problem other people were having too.
Airbag light came on, dealer replaced part. Light came on again in december 2001, and in february 2002. Please provide additional information.
Airbag light stays on while driving.
The air bag light comes on and a bell chimes while driving. After a short interval the light will go off only to come back on later. The service department at chrysler in milford, pa said it can not be checked out unless it remains on to be checked for a computer read out. The service attendant informed me that the air bag would not discharge when the light is on and i should hope i am not in an accident during this moment. This puts the driver and the passenger at risk during the time the airbag is not working. A customer following me had the same problem and received the same answer. This is a safety problem and i would like you to investigate and finda possible solution. Thank you.
The clock spring in my voyager is failing.the horn no longer works and the airbag light goes on and off intermittently.chrysler has recalled this minivan before but did not extend the recall to the 2002 year.i am concerned that i could be in an accident and the airbag would not deploy.

Air bag light is always on. I was told it was sensors. Had it repaired but always comes back on and the minute i start the car it stays on until i shut off car. Have other complaint in but forgot to add this. Do not know what type of airbags they are. How do i find out if takata?
Air baglight is on 90% of the time.may be off for a couple days then comes back on.
The contact owns a 2002 chrysler voyager.soon after the vehicle was purchased, the air bag light illuminated.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer three or four times regarding this failure.after regularly servicing her vehicle, she has had to replace the front and rear brakes at 20,000 and 40,000 miles.the dealer stated that the brakes needed to be replaced again at 70,000 miles.two weeks after her vehicle had been inspected and while driving 5 mph, the transmission snapped in half.the vehicle had to be pushed off the road and then towed to a mechanic.the mechanic confirmed that the front and rear brakes needed to be replaced and stated that any part that was contaminated by the transmission failure had to be replaced.the vehicle is currently with the mechanic and repairs currently total $1,400.the contact is scheduled to have arbitration with the dmv.the purchase date and powertrain were unknown.the current and failure mileages were 77,000.

Chrysler voyager 2002, failure of airbags todeploy.the consumers wife lost control of the vehicle when she slid on a slick road surface and rear ended another vehicle. The consumer stated after having the tires rotated on a regular schedule basis, it was discovered the tires were bald which caused the consumer to skid suchfar distance. Prior to the accident almost every month the tires wore down very quickly and constantly needed air.

While driving 30 mph, the vehicle was involved in a frontal collision.both frontal air bags failed to deploy.there were no injuries.the vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.please provide further details.
The air bag indicator is lit on my dash board.the passenger restraint system should be problem free for the life of the auto.the dealer says he is not sure of the failure with out dismantling the dash board at great costs.this is like a seat belt failing.
The "clock spring" (part of the air bag system), has failed twice in 46,000 miles.the vehicle has never been in any type of accident, or sustained any type of damage (ie, water related damage).the first failure was repaired under warranty, the second repair the dealer charged for.as this is a safety function, and the occupants are exposed to risk during failure, i believe two failures in 46,000 miles is unacceptable and is a design or manufacturing defect.i request that the nhtsa initiate an investigation, and if this defect is prevalent, issue a recall notice.
The air bag light came on first time in march 2003. The dealer repaired it. About a year later feb 2004 the light came on again. The dealer said i need to pay for a diagnostic test and possibly pay for the part and repair service. He didn't think my extended warranty would cover it. I also emailed chrysler and they talked to the dealer and told me i would have to pay to fix it.i don't have the money to repair it, nor do i think i am responssible for the repair. Manufacturer's defect! that's sort of like your seat belt not working. Saftey issues. Shouldn't wear out. Why hasn't chrysler put out a service bullitin??? i've read many complaints regarding the same problem.

I have had my airbag light come on for the second time now. After taking it to the dealer, it took them two times to figure out that there was a problem in the driver's seat belt buckle. This was only after i was told that it couldn't be looked at until the light was on. About six months later, the same thing was happening. I took it in to be looked at when i had the power steering cooling hoses replaced, and was told that the seat belt tensioner in the driver's seat belt needed to be replaced. Over a month has now passed, and i still have not been contacted to bring my van in to have my part replaced, since the dealer had to order it. I have had several quality issues as well ranging from interior components breaking or not being installed correctly, to the overall design of this van. Not to mention, the vehicle isn't even two years old, and it is not even worth half of the price i paid for it, according to the kelly blue book value. Once i get this vehicle sold or traded in, i'm never buying a chrysler product again.

While driving suddenly brakes failed to work. Hose broke all fluid leaked out. Could not stop car.smelling strong odor,especially when using defog, vents, making me very groggy, dizzy, sleepy,eyes watering:fuel rail leaking gas onto manifold.car can go on fire. No parts made, discontinued. Chrysler said to sell to someone elseexport restriction, nullified warranty???assaulted with baby. Fuel rail leaking gas. Fumes inside and outside of vehicle, makes you ver lightheaded and groggy, afraid if someone lights match will ignite. The front headlight was flashing on and off while parked in a parking lot (vehicle is not equip with an alarm system). Consumer removed the negative cable from the battery post. The consumer reconnected the negative cable within 5 minutes the headlight went out and work normal. The dealer was notified. *tc

When ac is turned on, loud squealing noise comes from behind the dash.took it to dealer who had it for 3 days then told me its a known problem on 2002 voyagers and there is no fix.
Dt*: the contact stated a warning letter received notifying that moisture from the a/c ducts might enter into the radio causing a possible left rear speaker fire. The service dealer attempted to remedy the situation, but a short disabled the radio and caused the check engine light to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the service dealer 4 times. The manufacturer was not notified.

Latch on rear door of a 2002 chrysler voyager stopped operating properly.it does not stayed latched. The car was not hit nor damaged. Please recall the chrysler gen3 seatbelts.they have been tested by independant organizations and have been shown to unlatch during tests.the gen3 seatbelt design fails the standard auto industry test.the new safety buckle, the gen4meets the industry standard.the gen3 belt should be recalled and replaced by the gen4 belt.my wife and i just bought a 2002 chrysler voyager that has the gen3 belts in the rear seats.our first baby is due this june.we are very concerned that if our baby is in a child safety seat restrained by a gen3 belt, that it might come unlatched during an accident and injure or kill our baby.please recall the gen3 seatbelts.thank you.

The consumer took vehicle to the dealer and they kept it for approximately 10 days. The dealer told consumer that they put a retainer plate on the vehicle.when this problem happened the second time, the dealer told consumer that they could not reproduce the problem and that this was a seasonal problem whichwould not happened all the time.
The rear brakes (both) of my 2002 voyager failed - was making loud mechanical noise, when the parking brake is released it did not release the brake (the car will not move for few minutes), make loud noise while braking. The dealer told me ice and water got inside the brake drums and frozen the pads, eventually the whole brake system failed. There is service bulletin #05-003-05 which exactly described the problem and how to fix it. The plate-rear drum brake (2), shoe kit, cylinder, fluid, and drums were replaced at a cost of $627.16 including labor and taxes. I believe this problem should be considered serious and be a 'recall' so that the problem is fixed free of charge to the customer. I called chrysler at 800 992 1997 to claim reimbursement for the repair work. The chrysler agent told me that the vehicle is out of warranty for a long time there will not be any assistance.

2002 voyager rear brakes failed. Consumer pulled out of parking lot and heard a loud bang, consumer then felt loss of control and braking difficulties.two days later the rear brake system was rebuilt by replacing the plate - rear drum brake (2), shoe kit, cylinder, fluid and drum.the consumer request reimbursement for the rear brake system because the consumer feels that the manufacturer knew of the problem but failed to notify him.there was a service bulletin for this problem 05-003-05.

Clunking from front suspension and decrease in vehicle stability.diagnosed as failure of sway bar busing.

Chrysler voyager 2002, failure of airbags todeploy.the consumers wife lost control of the vehicle when she slid on a slick road surface and rear ended another vehicle. The consumer stated after having the tires rotated on a regular schedule basis, it was discovered the tires were bald which caused the consumer to skid suchfar distance. Prior to the accident almost every month the tires wore down very quickly and constantly needed air.

At about 85,000 milesi noticed the airbag light on the dashboard was coming on sporadically.eventually it started remaining on all the time from the moment i started the ignition.i took it to a local chrysler dealer to have it inspected.they told me there was a problem with the clock spring and that it needed to be replaced and would cost me about $350.earlier reproductions of this model have been recalled for problems with clock springs but mine is not because it was manufactured two years too late.

Windshield wipers caught onto each other , i was able to make temp repair because of holding a safety inspection license and previously working as a auto tech for many years, howeverif this occurred to my wife while driving on the turnpike...like we were, she would not have been able to continue her journey or may have been involved in an accident. This problem occurred a second time on the same day. I made contact with dealer a couple days later to see if any other similiar complaints and was told by the service manager that none existed. I have since replaced the wiper blades with an aftermarket brand and have not had an opportunity to test them(no rain).i believe that the arms timing may have been interupted some how. The first time i was pulling into the toll booth and decreased my speed and opening the left window...the second event was while decreasing speed and turning on my left turn signal to pull into my driveway...???? respectfully request to know if any similiar incidents are reported.
