Abs brakes failed and van would not stop.a on going problem that started in 1995 and still continues to the present 2003.dealership has had vechicle to repair problem everyyear until 2000.my abs bake light still comes on and i have had 10-ten complete brake jobs done to my van.the dealership has had my van for almost 2 years for repair and we could not use it.i need help brakes are failing again and just after 5000 miles.i can not get anyone to take my van in on trade for another vechicle.i need help so no one will be seriously injured.we have had to many near misses with the brakes failing.thank you robert phelps.

Throttle cable froze in open position, causing vehicle to accelerate./loss of control.also,front/rearabs brakes failed prior to/after recall repairs.in addition, engine overheated, causing radiator to fail and wiring to burn.

While driving, smoke came out of the engine compartment, dealer stated that when the manufacturer assembled the wiring harness, all fusible links were taped together, causing it to get hot and melt, the heat generated the plastic to catch fire and burn all of the wires.

The fusable links were tightly bundled near driver side shock tower. The cooling fan motor siezed. The engine did not overheat due to operation at highway speed . The fuseable link in the center of the tight bundle burned, causing most of the others to also burn.this bundle was also atop the main wiring harnes, causing it to start to burn. Smelling something hot, i pulled over and opened the hood to find a small electrical fire. Being a firefighter i quickly disconected the negative battery cable causing the fire to go out. The fuasble links were tightly bundled at the factory. This is a dangerous situation that is simple to fix, by cutting the bundle and slightly spacing the fusable links out.

Electrical wire harness unde rthe hood caught on fire.

On 3 separate occasions the fan belt has come off this van in rainy wet conditions. It could have caused accident if i had not had good upper body strength and know to exert extra force to steer vehicle. The first incident occurred at 80,000 miles . Chrysler dealer replaced tension pulley as it was diagnosed as problem. It occured again at 120,000 with tensioner pulley replaced at another auto repair shop and again at 130,000 miles.

Because the radiator fan engine went out and the plug burned into we need a new plug, but to our surprise chrysler says they won't sell the plug, but instead we will need to purchase the wiring harness at the tune of $800.00 which is the mechanic's cost.we were trying to find a plug at a salvage yard, but none are available.we were told that this part is in high demand because of the high failure rate.is chrysler making this part out of too light a material for the amount of current? if we can find one at a salvage yard they told us they sell them for $20.00.a friend is checking salvages in another state for us. Why won't chrysler sell them?why do they try to force us to buy a whole harness at the outrageous price of $800.00?the fan engine was $247.50and then $800.00 on top of that for the harness.quite an expensive repair.

We have a 1993 chrysler town and country mini van, and discovered a few years ago about a well known problem these have, wet or even damp, the belts will be thrown off the engine causing everything from no charging to losing your power steering. I guess this is a problem that chrysler knows about , but will not correct. All that is needed is to replace the smooth pulley belt adjuster, to a pulley with sides that keep it on................my problem, my wife nearly wrecked recently when the belt came off while going around a curve on the highway when the belt came off. I am lucky i didn't get a call from the highway patrol that day. Chrysler needs to replace these pulleys. It costs around $150-170 for consumers to buy the kit, we shouldn't have too. How many people have to die before chrysler fixes this.

The enginejust cuts off periodacally.all power is lost, causing us to lose steering ability.this usually happerns when we have taken our foot off of the gas pedal.the dealer said it was probably the throttle motor.it was cleaned, but it didi not help.this may be similar to complaint odi id, 812181.

Engine fails repeatedly. Also belt tensioner broke while driving in parking lot for no apparent reason.

The fog lamp lenses on my 1993 chrysler town & country minivan keep falling off. There is an engineering design defect in that the lens are glued in and not held in by screws.at about the 8-10 year time period, the glue deteriorates and the lens fall off while driving.this is a very common problem in all 1993 and 1994 chrysler town and country minivans.the local chrysler dealership wants $106 plus labor to replace a single lens. I have called and written to chrysler complaining about this problem, but they insist that since the vehicle is out of warranty, they can do nothing to help. Consumer received recall 96v099000 concerning abs brake failure.consumer had a concernthatabs light stayed on,illuminating while driving, and the brake pedal will not depress. Vehicle had been todealer on three separate occasions, but problem recurred.

Brake pedal went to floor, no braking, went thru intersection. Pedal came right back. Drove car 1/4 mile to home, called local service dealer. Dealer has car 1 week, says can't duplicate problem and won't do any of the 3 abs recalls involved. This is a well documented problem, safety recall and symptom. It is also well document that dealers run owners around the "can't duplicate" excuse. The pump is deterioating and fouling the cylinder and piston causing an intermittent (pedal to floor)problem in the early stages of total brake failure. Need to get the recall fix performed before people are killed. Spoke to daimler chrysler recall center and cc csr - no help. Can you help me get this done?dt

Rio rancho chrysler dealer, located at 25 rio rancho rd., pomona, california 91766, in cooperation with the chrysler corporation has caused the following:a.failure to correct the abs system leak and resulting abs light coming and staying on. Within days of dealer??s repair work, the leak and abs light problems were discovered. Now the dealer states it to be a new problem that occurred during the couple of days of dealer??s work. The dealer says the new problem is the shorted abs pressure switch, with a replacement cost of $565. The dealer further asserts the newly discovered shorted abs switch has rendered abs pump inoperative and causing the leak from brake fluid reservoir. The dealer is wrong on both counts. The abs system works well so long the brake fluid level is adequate, and the leakage is not from reservoir cap but from somewhere else in the abs system, which was not corrected the first time.b.the repair should have been part of nhtsa recall 96v099000, without any charge to the owner. However, the dealer, in concert with chrysler corporation, replaced the abs accumulator without any factual basis and charged the vehicle owner $521.88 for it. Even if one assumes that the accumulator needed replacement, there should not be a $274.38 charge for labor. Because it??s dismantling and remounting is part of abs piston, pump and motor replacement, which by dealer??s own assertion was covered under the above recall.c.the dealer in it??s quest to milk, gouge and hose the customer for more money, deliberately left the tps connecter ajar despite a second visit by the owner, rendering the vehicle unsafe stalling at or near idle speed in traffic and on highways.

After having complete brake service by independent car repair shop, then continuing to experience poor braking, took to dealer listed. Diagnostics showed "no problem" and tech drove and said brakes were fine.we continue to have poor braking to point that pedal in depressed to stop yet van keeps rolling(and abs does not activate). Worse when van is loaded or pulling the boat. Frightening to not be able to quickly stop as was the case previously and certainly not like any of our other vehicles. There has been an abs recall on our model and i suspect something is wrong and the dealer evidently doesn't have the ability to detect it. I believe this to be a major safety issue that needs another evaluation from someone with more expertise before an accident occurs.

The selling dealer was approached twice about the door misalignment. They stated we could have the door trim stripes and mouldings aligned or the closing problem fixed, not both. They stated that they had seen this problem before. They did not want know the cause. Associated with this problem are dimple dents in the area, just above the outside door handle. The spot welds securing the door hinges to the door frame assembly have failed. The skin of the door slides before and after as the door is closed and shakes when the vehicle is in transit. The dimple dents are a diagnostic of this failure. There are thousands of these 93, 94 and 95 chrysler /dodge and plymouth minivans on the road with the dents. For a long while i believed that they had all been unlucky in the parking lot. Having seen the hinges floating free and the door skin moving before and after against the spot welds of the trailing edge of the door, i now know the dents are from the failed door hinges. Jerry's collision center in springfield va says they have seen many of these failures. Shop repair cannot be guaranteed, and they suggest replacement of the door. This shop is very competent. They do the body work for the white house cars.

The welds have failed on both doors.the passenger door is sagging and must be slammed to shut it.

Door hinges on front passenger's side needs to be continuously welded. Please provide more information.
