The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring.the horn has not been working ever since the vehicle was purchased.the dealer stated that a sensor light was illuminated due to a defect with the air bag; therefore, they replaced the air bag.the vehicle has been to the dealer four times for this failure.while driving at an unknown speed, the horn suddenly sounded and the contact could not make it stop.she has also experienced squealing, squeaking, and clunking noises when the brake pedal was depressed.the dealer replaced all four rotors and pads, but the brake failure has recurred.the vehicle may also be leaking brake fluid.now that the vehicle has reached the 3 month or 3,000 mile limited warranty end date, the dealer will no longer provide repair services.the failure mileage was 65,000 and current mileage was 66,700.

I own a 2006 chrysler sebring, the horn goes off on its own and i have to pull the fuse to get it to stop. There is no tsb or recall for this but it is a common problem.

With soooo many complaints about the horn issue located in the same spot as the airbag no one has put the pieces together about hows this may be caused by the airbag issue. The horn only has major issues when the humidity is high. This is the same reason the airbags are having issues and deploying with shrapnel. Can someone fight for the consumer here there is over 70 complaints about the horn which the component is shared with the airbag. This is occurring during high humidity maybe as a warning something is wrong with the component harnessing the horn and airbag????? or the airbag pressure is triggering the horn before the pressure builds to deploy for no reason other than humid weather.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. While driving at various speeds, the horn sounded on its own intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the clock spring, horn pad, and driver side air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,975.

The sebring hit the car in front of it. Left front of sebring hitting the right rear bumper of car in front of it. Immediately stopping the sebring and then having it roll backwards into a ditch. Totally the sebring. No air bags deployed. Injuries sustained because of airbags not deploying. Weather outside was below zero.

45,000 miles on my 2006 sebring and the horn starts blowing for no reason on january 1, 2009.the horn has blown sitting in garage, parking lot, driveway & while driving in traffic.i would say it was doing it about every other day, sometimes twice a day.it will not shut off, must keep hitting & pounding on steering pad to get it to stop.finally had to disconnect the horn.i didn't want to get stuck somewhere with a dead battery or worse, get in an accident trying to get that horn to shut off.so now i'm driving without a horn, also not safe.i can still hear a clicking sound in the steering pad while driving, just like i heard when fighting to get the horn to stop.i have contacted my local dealer service department to see it this is covered under my warranty but of course they won't tell me that without running a $120 diagnostic, i told them i will not pay for diagnostics because all they need to do is contact chrysler to find out what the problem it.check the internet, mine is not the only sebring with this problem.the other problem with this is that the airbag is intertwined with the horn problem and so fixing this problem runs in the area of $1,000.00.

Horn went off would not stop on chrysler 2006 sebring. Fuse was pulled to stop horn disabled horn & airbag according to 3/4's of others reports. Please execute manufacturer recall.

The horn in my 2006 chrysler sebring goes off constantly. I have been told it iis a defective horn assembly and i have to replace the entire steering wheel cover and airbag at a cost of $630 for the part plus labor. My car is only 2 years old and i have 44,000 on the car. There have been numerous complaints about this and chrysler will do nothing to help me.

In the beginning, the horn would sound randomly while the car was parked and unoccupied.it would continue to sound until we adjusted the steering wheel or pushed on the horn.however, now the horn sounds randomly while driving.it doesn't stop until i am able to pull over and remove the fuse.this creates an unsafe situation with other drivers.the dealership said that it was some sort of electrical failure in the horn and airbag within the steering wheel. We replaced the fuse that controls this mechanism, but it didn't work.the horn and airbag are an integral piece, so in order to replace the horn, we have to replace the airbag.this would cost more than $800.our easiest solution was to remove the fuse that controls the horn/ airbag.this means that i'm driving it without an airbag or horn.this is extremely unsafe for other motorists and myself.i contacted chrysler.they stated that there was nothing they could do, because the horn does not fall under any of the warranties and there has not been a recall for this part.there are hundreds of complaints online regarding the airbag and horn!it is very unsafe and common, therefore it should be investigated for a recall.i noticed that on the nhtsa site, people are categorizing this problem as "steering," "electrical," or "airbag," because there is no category for "horn."i hope that this is not keeping the nhtsa from recognizing how many people are effected.please investigate it.

Like many others, i had to pull the fuse for my horn, disabling my air bag because the horn kept going off. Why hasn't it been recalled?

In march or so of 2011, while driving, all of a sudden my horn just goes off for no reason whatsover and would not stop.i took it to a local mechanic and was informed that its a factory problem with the clockspring. This part however is attached to the air bag assembly & to replace it, the entire air bag assembly must be also replaced which is over $600 just for the part & another $1000 for labor.my only option was to completely disconnect the air bag assembly as its the only way to stop the horn.so now i have to drive the car without the air bag system.this is a direct safety defect!!i spoke with a chrysler rep & they informed me that they had never heard of this problem with that years model, even though there are sooo many complaints online all over the usa about it...how can this not be a safety recall???i will never buy another chrysler!!

We were in a car accident and although we were hit in the front, the air bags did not deploy.

Could not use my horn and airbag did not deploy during an accident.the airbag and horn do not work because the fuse had to be taken out the fuse runs these functions. The fuse was taken out because the horn does not function properly which also means the airbag has a fifty, fifty chance of working with the fuse in. Because no investigation has been done on this function everyone on the road is at risk. Safety is an issue and this needs to have a recall. Stop making americans pay for lemons!!!

The horn goes off by itself. When the car is parked or it is moving. This happens at night and it disturbs my neighbors. Sometimes it starts blowing while i'm driving. There are several complaints about this problem. On the carcomplaints.com website. This is an electrical problem and a customer was told it had something to do with the airbag. A mechanic disabled the airbag, which is very dangerous. There are 38 complaints on the website. Any electrical problem like this can be very hazardous to the passengers inside the vehicle. Chrysler needs to fix this problem!

Well it first happened at night my wife thought someone was breaking into the car i never caught what was going on until the fourth time i finally herd it it was my horn going off for 60 seconds or more and i could not get it stop it would go off at night around 12 or 2 or 3,4 in morning then iteventually it got worse started going off at all times then the horn was not usable but would still go off when it chose to. Then it started to go off when i was driving. I stopped driving the car and have since unhooked the battery.there are many complaints online of people with same issue recently i hooked the battery up to see if maybe it was ok wrong it blared right away and so i unhooked the battery again.

Car alarm or horn will go off in the morning when its wet/damp whenever i unlock with clicker or manually with a key. It will go off for about 30 seconds then shut off. Only until recently did the horn start going off while driving in the morning for 20-30second spurts. This would happen on freeways and residential roads. Had to disconnect the horn relay which i understand is also associated with the airbag to stop the honking. Ido not feel comfortable driving without an airbag but that is the only short-time solution i have. I also understand to fix it is well over 1000 dollars and even then is not a permanent fix.

Horn or alarm randomly goes off. Impossible to stop, it does so eventually on its own. This is on entry to the car, whether by key, key fob, or even opening trunk..and when driving at speed randomly. Is this not a serious safety issue?did a dealer check and they could not find anything. No recalls, no problems from chrysler...hard to believe since i see many complaints online that point to a horn pad assembly problem that costs $1000 to fix. This is a low mileage low used car, i am the second owner, the first being my father. Not a lot of horn blowing. Took in again to dealer, called chrysler, no info from either. Returned to the dealer with mechanic and replicated the problem, and he finally agreed it might be the horn assembly, and removed the horn fuse. Apparently there is a foil that gets worn through causing a short activating the horn, and the only way to fix is a reassembly. This is not a fix, this is a faulty manufacturing issue (materials skimping to cut corners). This is not a way to be a long time manufacturer and maintain the quality expected of american cars. Its awful and unsafe. They also led the mechanic around in circles testing computers and all sorts of things when 5 min on the internet directed me to the problem and after a quick test proved true. Such a waste of time.

My 2006 sebring is having horn problems again.in august of 2007, i had it in the dealer to do a warranty fix on the "air bag module", which was causing my horn to sound at odd times and prolonged durations.now, in april of 2009 the problem has returned.this time there is no warranty coverage and the price to fix is ridiculously high.i have searched online and have found this problem to be very common with chrysler vehicles.i think chrysler should issue a recall on affected vehicles.a working horn is a safety requirement in many states.my state inspection is due by the end of this month and i have to have it fixed in order to legally drive in texas.

This is a safety issue not only for the driver of the car the others on the road with them! i was just going down the road and the horn starting going off all by itself. Finally took out the fuse. The horn just goes off randomly. It went off when hitting unlock button on remote and or just driving. Then took it to my mechanic and he said that the horn pad assembly which was a dealer only part had to be replaced some sensor or something. So right now i have just left the fuse out, because it is an expensive fix. $1000.00. I agree with all of the other people that chrysler should be fixing this issue.removing the fuse has caused the air bag functions to be unknown. Removing the fuse to stop the horn also affects part of the fueling system according to the manual (same fuse).removing the fuse has caused us not to be able to use our horn incase something ran in front of the car or to alarm others of harm. The horn is a function of safety and warning. This is standard on all cars as a precaution and warning system. This is not a part of the car that is special ordered, these come standard with all cars. So why is chrysler not paying for this safety issue? your company has been run into the ground with recalls and safety measures not being taken seriously enough. Time to act on this situation; with over 70 complaints this must not be a whim. Sad part is this is not the only issue with this car three recalls on it and the dealer sold the car anyway without repairing recalls.

Airbag light continues to go on and off periodically.which means it is activated and de-activated.

Several times over the last few month the horn just randomly goes off in a long blast.it will continue until you beat and bang on the steering wheel and column.

Horn goes off for no reason until fuse is pulled.now that fuse is pulled i am driving around with no airbags.this has happened at least 4 times a week until i now go with the fuse out all the time.no safe driving around with out airbags!!!!!please issue a recall on whatever is causing this issue and putting thousands of people at risk. (number of people based on internet forums and complaints!)

Driving down the road when my horn suddenly started going off.did not turn off until i beat on the steering wheel.continues to do this every day now, scaring drivers around me and there is nothing i can do about it.

Horn started going off by itself on my ride to work on a very cold morning. Has gone on several other times since while driving. Horn remains on for several minutes each time until i can safely pull to the side and hit the horn area of the stearing whel with a hammer to get it to turn off. This is a huge safety issue, the horn doesnt work properly when i need it to and it turns on on its own when i dont need it to cauzing a driving hazard for myself and other drivers on the road. From my research i have seen that pulling the fuse will also disable to airbag creating a double safety issue. This should absolutely be recalled by chrysler as this appears to be a common safety issue in many of their makes, models and years.

Over the course of a year the horn would sound at any time on its own, would not stop without extreme force on the button; dealership states a full airbag assembly has to be purchased at a cost of over $600.00, because the horn button is attached to the airbag.

2006 chrysler sebring horn blow intermittently.i see on the internet that others have had this problem and because it is located with the airbag may be a safety issue.

Dt: the consumer stated she ran off the road and crashedinto ditch. Upon impact, the air bags did not deploy.the contact sustainedfacial cuts and bruising, a fractured foot, and teeth came out. This was a rental vehicle. A police report was taken. Updated 01/04/06.

At first i thought it was my own inept use of the horn that i was not pressing it right, but the horn would not sound when warning other drivers of a dangerous situation so i didn't realize that the horn was actually defective. A car was traveling through a red light and i needed to sound my horn to warn on-coming traffic that there was danger and the horn would not go off and the accident happened right in front of me. Perhaps my horn may not have prevented the accident but it would have helped. The horn sometimes worked and sometimes didn't but i just thought that i was always pressing the wrong place on the steering wheel. Since may 1, 2013,my horn just decides to sound at any time. It seems to be making up for lost time!?! it not only causes me to pull over in heavy traffic but it makes other drivers pull over as well. People are looking for danger when there is none. It is a real problem and i know others with my make and model have been having the same problem. The chrysler dealership said that the horn must be fixed for safety issues and requires the horn and airbag to be replaced (mega expensive). But, if they replace the horn with the same assembly, what prevents it from being defective again? is the air-bag part of the problem, if so, is it defective too? these are questions that the dealership will not answer. The part needs to be redesigned so that this issue does not pose a problem again after being fixed.

Car pulled out in front and hit the horn, which did not work, and now comes on only intermittently, or even on its own.this seems to be a common problem with the sebrings and from blogs seems to be due to a faulty switch inside the airbag cover on the steering wheel.this is a terrible safety hazard and should have been recalled.

At around 40k miles the horn on my 2006 sebring started to go off without being pressed. At first it malfunctioned when i unlocked the car with the keyless remote. Then it begin doing it while driving. It doesn't just beep the horn gets stuck so i am pounding on my steering wheel trying to get it to stop. My wife was pulled over on the highway because the police thought she was driving aggressively blaring the horn at everyone. Luckily while she was explaining to the officer the problem the car has the horn went off and he saw for himself that there is a problem with this car.after several months i just had the mechanic unhook the horn, which is a huge safety hazard, because he gave me an estimate near $1000.00 to repair it. So its been over a year and about 20k miles that i have been driving a vehicle with no horn. My car is due for safety inspection on april 25th and it definitely wont pass without a horn, and $1000 is way too much to pay to get a horn fixed. Had i known about this site a couple years ago i would have posted a complaint then, but i guess better late than never.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. The contact was driving approximately 55 mph when the horn began to operate inadvertently for a brief moment and then turned off independently. The failure recurred whenever the vehicle was in operation or when stationary. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. The vin was unavailable.

Horn started blowing on its own. Finally shut off after 4 minutes. Horn went off 5 times on march 14, 2014. Horn will turn on whether car is on or not.

I have a 2006 chrysler sebring that i purchased new and the horn goes off by itself all the time. It has gone off when i click the lock or unlock buttons on my keyless remote, when you open or close the door, driving down the road, starting or shutting off the vehicle, while sitting in the driveway. I can't seem to find anything in particular that will make it stop. After some investigating i have found this is a very common problem with the sebrings and have discovered that it will cost approx. $1000 to fix it. The horn is attached to the airbag in the steering column, so the airbag has to be replaced. I have also discovered that if you pull the horn fuse, which most people are doing because they can't afford the repair, it will disable the air bag. So i feel this is a very bad safety issue. 1. The horn going off randomly and not working properly when needed. The horn has to be working properly before your car can pass the safety inspection2. If people pull the horn fuse to stop it from going off then their air bag won't work, which isn't safe. I have found 27 complaints about this same problem on your webiste alone. Found numerous complaints on other websites. I feel that chrysler should have to do a recall and fix this problem before someone gets hurt. I can't afford the $1000 so have pulled my horn fuse and am now driving without an airbag and horn. How safe is that?

In the middle of the night and then while driving, the horn will begin to blare (like someone laying on it without letting up) for 30 seconds or more.i initially took the car to my local mechanic who could not reduplicated the issue and even performed an electrical diagnostic test.one week after getting the car back from the mechanic who could not find the issue, the horn blared in the middle of the night again.i believe this is a safety issue because, this morning, i will need to deactivate the horn relay again.if the horn goes off in the middle of traffic which it has done to me before, it can cause confusion and anger.without the horn, however, i do not have the means to alert another driver of a potential incident (example, another driver attempting to change lanes and not realizing i am in lane next to them).also, i understand i am not the first one to complain about this exact same issue.from other complainants, i see that the horn is tied in with the airbag assembly in the steering wheel/column, so apparently the airbag is affiliated in this malfunction, again a safety issue and very expensive repair i cannot afford to make.

The horn goes off by itself. When the car is parked or it is moving. This happens at night and it disturbs my neighbors. Sometimes it starts blowing while i'm driving. Chrysler needs to fix this problem!

2006 chrysler sebring. Horn goes off at will when i'm driving or when the car is just sitting there. When i really need the horn, it will either not honk at all or get stuck and keep honking for about 3 minutes. This has been happening on and off for over a year now.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. The contact stated that the horn would unexpectedly sound while driving various speeds and when the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 146,152.

2006 chrysler sebring horn-goes off blaring with out warning regardless if car is on or not.at first i could press hard on the steering wheel to get it to stop, now i have to pull fuse to cut it off.finally just pulled fuse out perm.dealership told me they could do nothing, as it did not happen when they had it.****this is a major safety hazard as it could give other drivers mixed signals from you when goes off, causes a major distraction for you and other drivers operating in the area and most just pull fuse making the horn inoperable-great safety issue as a horn is a requirement to pass inspection if its operation was not important would not be on inspection standard and it is clear that this is design/parts issue not abuse of the vehicle by the consumer.needs to be recalled and fixed before an accident happens.

I was driving at minimum speed to turn right and then i lost control of my steering wheel almost hit some cars and a pole but the sidewalk stopped the car from going anywherei looked up online because i saw a recall that was related to my situation called dealership they said there was no recall for my car. Car is drivable like if nothing ever happened but i don't feel safe driving it.

Horn goes off by itself, even sitting in the driveway turned off.

When i unlocked the car remotely, the horn sounded continuously for more than a full minute. It happened a second time about a week later, but continued on and off for a few minutes after i drove a short distance. I have read online of many similar happenings, and in most cases, it looks like a possible repair for about $1,000. Most seem to be removing a fuse that also disables the air bag. If the air bags are life savers, do we have to wait for a death for chrysler and the government to do something about it. ...updated 11-06-13

Horn goes off on its own while driving. Same sometimes when it's parked unattended.this recurs once a week or so.

Horn started going off when the car was parked in drive. Then started going off as you drive the car. The only way to stop it is to take out the fuse, which disables the airbag in the steering wheel. Both of these problems are safety issues and there needs to be a recall and chrysler needs to be financially responsible as it seems to be a design flaw. We have been told that the airbag would have to bee removed to get to the horn contacts and this will cost upwards of $800. We live on disability due to cancer and can not afford this cost. Car was bought to get husband back and forth to cancer treatment. There are 61 complaints this same problem on the internet.

My horn sounds continuously in the middle of the night with no cause or prompting, causing unnecessary angst for me and discomfort for my neighbors.

This is a safety issue not only for the driver of the car the others on the road with them! i was just going down the road and the horn starting going off all by itself. Finally took out the fuse. Out of no where the horn just goes off the only way to stop it is to remove the fuse. If you place the fuse back in, it blows the fuse.

Just purchased the car a year ago. Horn did not work since the purchase date. Finally decided to see if i could fix the problem. When trying to repair it,discovered fuse was removed because horn blows continuously.

Passenger door master switch malfunction, driver window rolled down by itself during ice storm while driving on highway would not roll back up. Had to purchase and replace with new switch. Faulty rear camber in both right and left rear wheels. Both leaning inwards about 12 degrees, ruined 2 new tires, had to spend $670 for camber kit, and $200 for (new) new tires. Transmission herky jerky.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring touring.while proceeding from a traffic signal at 15 mph, the vehicle safety alarmsystem sounded without warning, and then deactivated.the failure occurred intermittently.the vehicle was in the process of being repaired for the failure. Updated 1/28/10the consumer stated when the vehicle was started, the alarm and horn would sound. Then it would start again while driving.updated 02/03/10.

Horn went off would not stop on chrysler 2006 sebring. Fuse was pulled to stop horn disabled horn & airbag according to 3/4's of others reports. Please execute manufacturer recall.

2006 sebring, also have a problem with the horn going off by itself, more so in cold weather and for at least a year. With all the other complaints this is definitely a problem that should be a recall as this can be dangerous if you are in traffic and it confuses the horns intent. Have complained but have gotten the brush off from the dealer saying they could do nothing until they heard the horn go off.

I was just going down the road and the horn starting going off all by itself. Finally took out the fuse and went and bought a new fuse. That did not fix the problem. It went off when hitting unlock button on remote. Then took it to my mechanic and he said that the horn pad assembly which was a dealer only part had to be replaced. So right now i have just left the fuse out, because it is an expensive fix.this is a defect in the part and chrysler should fix this issue.they say it will cost $1,000 for parts and labor. This is not the fault of what i did it is the fault of what they manufactured.

I was driving down the road and the horn started blowing by itself!this is a huge safety issue!!!!!i almost had an accident because of this happening. I am handicapped and have my grandchildren in my car.this is such a distraction to my neighbors and to other drivers on the road. Other drivers are distracted by the noise which is a safety hazard!i have had the car for 6 yrs and have never received any information about this problem. But in doing some research there are many other cars like mine that have the same problem.this is a grave situation with this happening.why isn't chrysler doing anything to fix this problem in their cars?would chryslers upper echelon put their families in these cars and send them off to drive on the highways with the horn randomly honking and not being able to stop it while driving a vehicle?funny how people just can't put themselves in other peoples places because of their pompousness and narcissism.this needs to be addressed yesterday!!!i can promise chrysler, if something happens, to anyone, because of this safety issue, especially in my family, because they we negligent in fixing the horn problem, i will see them in court with a good lawyer!!!!!!!! that you can bet on!

Like many others, i had to pull the fuse for my horn, disabling my air bag because the horn kept going off. Why hasn't it been recalled?

Car alarm or horn will go off in the morning when its wet/damp whenever i unlock with clicker or manually with a key. It will go off for about 30 seconds then shut off. Only until recently did the horn start going off while driving in the morning for 20-30second spurts. This would happen on freeways and residential roads. Had to disconnect the horn relay which i understand is also associated with the airbag to stop the honking. Ido not feel comfortable driving without an airbag but that is the only short-time solution i have. I also understand to fix it is well over 1000 dollars and even then is not a permanent fix.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. The contact stated that the horn sounded independently. The contact had to remove a fuse to stop the horn from sounding. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic, who stated that the air bag unit needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 48,000.

I bought my sebring sedan in may of 2006 with 5 miles on it. For starters, i immediately had issues with the radio cutting out. I took it back to the dealership asap, and they claimed to have fixed it, but didn't. My second problem was my horn. It all of a sudden started sounding muffled, if it sounded at all. I called about that problem and they told me to bring it in. Which i would have, but over that weekend out of nowhere, my car stalled out on me without any kind of warning lights or gauges. I called a local towing company to pick it up, and they immediately told me that they could see right off the bat that i had a large hole in my oil pan, and all of the oil had probably leaked out. So i told them just to go ahead and replace it and we would go from there, thinking that would be the end of it. Unfortunately, i was wrong. After they replaced the oil pan, they soon realized that my engine had seized. So assuming the dealership would be the ones to install the new engine, i had the car towed back to my house until i confirmed things with the dealership. I also figured that because the car was barely a year old, it should be covered under my warranty. I was wrong again. So, long story a little shorter, the dealership refused to pay for any of the new engine, nor did they even give me a good price on one. Their cheapest one was pretty much the price of another mechanics most expensive. So, because i had the engine replaced somewhere else, my warranty for almost everything else was void. Since then, i have had nothing but problems out of it, and its going to break down for good soon because i cannot afford to keep up with the problems. My engine light is currently on, and has been for about 6 months, i just recently had an antifreeze leak fixed, i think there may be a transmission problem, and my horn still doesn't work. Those are just to name a few. It has been the most unreliable vehicle i have ever owned. I am actually thinking of letting the bank just take it.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. While the vehicle was parked the horn began to blow on its own and turned off after approximately twenty seconds. The failure occurred numerous times and it continues to occur intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician repaired theforeign relay. The approximate failure mileage 32,000.

Horn just goes off on its on no matter f the car's engine is running or not.it occures at least 2 to 3 times a day till i pulled the fuse.

We noticed at around 40,000 miles that the horn will just start honking by itself.if you drive down the street the horn honks.it does make for a very dangerous situation and should be recalled in my opinion.i don't know how many times i've almost been run over now because i can't use my horn.only way to keep it from blowing whenever it wants to is to pull the fuse.seems to happen more in colder weather, but have also been told that the problem also affects the airbags in the car.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the horn erroneously sounded for approximately 2 minutes before shutting off independently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 140,000.

Safety-related defect cars "horn/panic-alarm" failure.

Driving down the road when my horn suddenly started going off.did not turn off until i beat on the steering wheel.continues to do this every day now, scaring drivers around me and there is nothing i can do about it.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. Without warning, the horn continued to sound and the noise continued randomly for weeks. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic and taken to a dealer for inspection and diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

2006 chrysler sebring horn just comes on intermittently. It will not go off and then just comes on again now and then. Why? is this a recall and if so how can i get it fixed free? car has 47,000km an di am in canada.

I have a 2006 chrysler sebring and the horn in my car keeps going off for no reason while i am driving and while its parked its getting to the point where i cannot even use my horn at all when i need it but it will go off when i don't a few moments later and it wont stop even when i hit it.

I have a 2006 chrysler sebring for the last couple of months i have been having issues with my horn. If i press the horn sometimes it won't work and if it does it will continue to blare without me even touching it. Recently it started to just go off by itself whether the car is on or off, or i'm in it or not. It will start blaring when i drive sometimes and no amount of pushing the horn pad will stop it, it will stop when it wants to. Sometimes when i am in my house i hear my car beep the horn a couple of times. This is a safety problem b/c this startles the driver and others around them, i believe this could cause an accident and if not could potentially make the wrong person mad and result in me getting hurt. This really concerns me and after doing much research i have found that there are many other people with the same problem and honestly chrysler should have to fix this b/c its obviously not the consumers fault. Do people really have to die or something for this to be viewed as a problem and for someone to fix it? i really hope not and i really hope it gets resolved. We all pay enough money for our cars, we shouldn't have to pay more for a problem that we didn't create.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. The contact stated that the horn would activate intermittently. The failure recurred several times. The dealer was made aware of the failure. However, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000. The vin was not available.

Horn does not sound unless it is pressed with extreme forcetransmission has been messed up since i bought the car-dealership never finds anything wrong with it.remote for horn quit working about 1 year ago- car is a 2006.

Like many others, i had to pull the fuse for my horn, disabling my air bag because the horn kept going off. Why hasn't it been recalled?

Horn started blowing on its own. Finally shut off after 4 minutes. Horn went off 5 times on march 14, 2014. Horn will turn on whether car is on or not.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. The contact stated that the horn activated intermittently. The vehicle was to be inspected, diagnosed and repaired by an authorized dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.

I have a 2006 chrysler sebring and the horn in my car keeps going off for no reason while i am driving and while its parked its getting to the point where i cannot even use my horn at all when i need it but it will go off when i don't a few moments later and it wont stop even when i hit it.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring.when the contact started the ignition, there was a low power response when the accelerator pedal was depressed.the (mil) malfunction indicator illuminated on the instrument panel, which remained lit until the engine was turned off.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they stated that the control sensor wiring was chewed up, possibly by mice or squirrels.the vehicle was repaired; however, the service warranty was expired.the failure recurred on a separate occasion.through research, the contact discovered that the sensor wiring was made from a soy base product.the manufacturer was notified and the vehicle has not been repaired.the vin was unknown.the failure and current mileages were 20,000.

Engine light stay on all the time always serviced and changed oils on time or before, replaced all sensors, plugs, engine does shake on idle and shut itself off even while driving and/or in moving motion, engine light always on.

My engine overheated due to a water pump leak. The temperature gauge remained in the normal operating range during my trip which was about 30 miles of mostly highway driving. I had no indication that anything was wrong with my car until it shut off at a stop light.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. After being parked for a long period of time, the ignition was turned to the on position but the vehicle failed to start. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

Drivers side seat belt does not retract. Engine piston rod bearings are defective heat up melt and may cause an engine fire like in hyundai rod bearing recall. Common on chrysler v6 engine. May cause blown engine, snapped piston rods, heat and engine fire.

Vibration felt in steering wheel while in gear at idle. You can also see steering wheel vibrating. Check engine light does not come on. Dealer does not know what causes this.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring.while driving 20 mph, the contact heard a knocking noise coming from the engine compartment.he pulled over and noticed a large amount of oil leaking from underneath the vehicle.he shut off the engine and added a quart of oil into the vehicle, which stopped the leaking.once the vehicle was started again, the leaking returned.the dealer inspected the vehicle and stated that the crankshaft oil seal had been pushed out due to excessive play.they further stated that the vehicle needed a new engine.the manufacturer stated that they would not be responsible for the repairs.the owner believes that due to the year of the vehicle and the mileage, the failure should not be occurring.the current and failure mileages were 46,150.

On july 21st i was heading home from work and the noise just occurred as soon as i was turning onto the ramp to get to the highway. I instantly took my car to firestone where i always take my car and they did a full inspection and realized that my bushing to my motor mount went out, my motor mount was shot and my motor mount bracket was shot. This issue is very unsafe and i contacted better business bureau, chrysler corporation, chrysler ceo and chairman, governor rick snyder, congressman bill huizenga, and attorney general's office. There should be a recall. This has been a long time without a car and no normal human being can afford spending 600 dollars a month for a rental car when it is not the consumers problem that chrysler doesn't make a part. Their needs to be a recall on this car. A motor mount should never go out on a car. They should be able to be found in a junk yard after a car has lasted its average life time. There needs to be recall nobody should be on a nationwide waiting list for this especially when now i am looking at having possible transmission problems later on down the road. Something needs to be done about this and i won't give up until something is.

I have a 2006 sebring with a 2.4l engine that has had the seals replaced twice and it still kept pouring oil.my original mechanic said there was nothing more he could do and the engine should be replaced.i was referred to anther mechanic by a friend who did a lot more work in trying to fnd out why they could not fix the oil leak.he found out that the 2005 and 2006 engines were missing a thrust bearing and so it kept pushing the crankshaft against the timing belt which pushed out the front seal.chrysler fixed the design by adding a second thrust bearing with a new revision to the engine.after 8 weeks and $5500 of repair and rental builds, i have a new half block and it seems to be fxed.i think chrysler should have put out a recall on these motors since there was a design flaw fixed in the new version of the 2.4l engine and short block.it is not safe to be driving a car leaking oil nor fair for consumers to eat the cost of the repair when it was an engine design error.i am paying car payments on top of having to pay for a chrysler design flaw. Thanks for any info you can give.

2006 chrysler sebring.consumer writes in regards to oil leak in vehicle engine area.the consumer stated the water pump and timing belt were replaced on january 27, 2015 after which, an oil leak developed. After two crankshaft oil seal replacements the consumer was informed the problem appeared serious enough to contact chrysler about a further diagnosis. The consumer was able to identify a problem which resulted in a technical service bulletin identifying the problem as crankshaft end play resulting in oil seal performance and leakage. The recommended action was to install a second thrust bearing to eliminate crankshaft vibration/movement. Updated 09/21/15*lj updated 12/06/2017

Rough idle at start-up, check engine light goes on. Replaced ignition wires and spark plugs and continued to do it. Performed de-carbonization, and its been good so far for 2 months.

This is a 2006 sebring touring, bought with around 33,00 miles. The first night i tried this car, the check engine light came on with them saying they would fix it.it didn't come back on for months...after the warranty was up.i have had this car almost a year and it had a 30 day warranty. I took it back at least once a week for the warranty with them saying they could find nothing wrong.the brakes make rubbing noises, even though i was told they put on new brake shoes and it wobbles, even though they said they calibrated the rotors and fixed them.it jumps when you stop and on take offit just took it to another shop in another town and was told they couldn't find any wrong other than it needed an update and that this should take care of 99% of my problems if not all.after paying out 178.45, it do not take care of the problem. The also told me that i needed a new fuel pump and that one of the problems was it was pumping too much fuel and that this would eventually do damage to other parts of the engine and i would be looking at more than just the fuel pump to replace but they didn't think the car would just quit on me right now, but i was looking at problems on down the road.so now, i am looking at around 450.00 for the fuel pump and labor and still don't know if that is the problem. In july i had about an inch plus water in my passenger rear floor board, after sucking the water up several times, they finally said i needed a new type of drain line on the air conditioner, but come to find out, it had the new line. I did get the line blown out because they said that the air conditioner line getting clogged is a problem. The water has not come back, yet.the air conditioner makes like a hum-hum noise, then it will quit and the car sounds quiet for a few min, and then it starts again.this is definitely a car i am dissatisfied with.i had bought 3 sets of wiper blades and none of them seem to sit on the windshield correctly to get the water off.

I am having problems with my 2006 chyrsler sebring. It started in 2008 or 2009 when car ran hot on the interstate. I added coolant but it seems to evaporate or leak. I went into landers dodge for an oil change and upon inspecting the vehicle they found a leakage from what they say is called a coolant inlet tube which will cost me over $400 to repair. I feel that with my car being only 2 or 3 years old at the time should not be taking place. I have also found others that have the same vehicle to have the same problem or having to replace the transmission in 2006 chrysler sebrings. I would like to know how the situation can be looked into.

I purchased a chrysler sebring new around march of 2007.i have taken this car back 3 times now for what has been called a motor fan they have replaced it 2 times and are now saying they can't find anything wrong.the car is making the same irritating noise it made the first 2 times they replaced this fan.it is almost a humming sound with vibration i say it sounds like i am driving a diesel and its a car.

The failure mileage was 56,000.

Low power when trying to accelerate.i was told my car was getting too much fuel.i took my car into the shop because of water in my back floor board and asked them to check out the check engine light coming on and that when hooked to the a readout meter that they could find nothing other than 1 time about misfiring.when they did some rather expensive tests, i was told that my car is getting too much fuel.it feels like it just kind of bogs down at times when trying to increase the speed...you push the gas pedal and it just doesn't want to increase the speed.i was also told that this car is made to go fast and that it doesn't like going slow.

I just bought a 2006 sebring convertible touring edition, i had driven to work 23 freeway miles. I noticed there was a lot of wind noise with the top up. I checked to make sure it was latched properly. On the way home i had the same wind noise(it was a windy day) after 20 miles on the freeway at 65 mph in rush hour traffic, the top gave way & blew back. You can see where the latch scraped. I almost had an accident in rush hour traffic. I think their is aseal defect. The dealer claims i was at fault, and it was not latched properly. The car had been purchased 4/27/06.

Bought the 2006 sebring with 32,000 miles on it, just before the warranty expired. It now has 62,000 miles on it, and it leaking oil profusely. I had my mechanically inclined father look at it, and it appears to be an issue with the crankshaft. As i have been looking online, this appears to be a recurring problem with these vehicles, and worse yet, if it starts to become a problem before the warranty is up, dealers are simply replacing the seal, essentially putting a band-aid on the bigger issue and leaving the expense up to the consumer to deal with. At this time i think i caught it before it got the chance to lock my engine up, i just thank my lucky stars that i had to drop my son off to school on a cold day and had left the engine to idle while i walked him to the door, as the engine only leaks while running. Had this not have been the case, i was about to travel to a town that takes over an hour to get to, taking a road with virtually no good places to stop, and many "dead-zones" which would have made getting assistance nearly impossible and potentially dangerous. I am very disappointed and will not be choosing chrysler for any future vehicles, unless this problem is rectified.

Horn does not sound unless it is pressed with extreme forcetransmission has been messed up since i bought the car-dealership never finds anything wrong with it.remote for horn quit working about 1 year ago- car is a 2006.

Drivers side seat belt does not retract. Engine piston rod bearings are defective heat up melt and may cause an engine fire like in hyundai rod bearing recall. Common on chrysler v6 engine. May cause blown engine, snapped piston rods, heat and engine fire.

Front driver seat belt does not retract. Very dangerous.

Everytime i apply my brakes the front left wheel starting shaking alot.

Driving on i-91 , vermont at 65 mph when car suddenly surged and lost control /o warning able to stop on side of road w/o hitting other vehicles ( traffic light). Replacement partfederal mogul, ball joint, control arm assembly.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. Upon making a turn, there was a loud noise coming from the front end of the vehicle and the steering wheel. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the front control arm and ball joints deteriorated. As a result, the ball joints and the cvc joints needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 09e056000 (suspension). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unavailable.

Turned corner at less than mph and heard a thunk and car slammed to sudden and complete stop sending my son and i flying forward toward windshield. Got out of car and tire was completely sideways and control arm on ground. Scary thing is we were 1 corner away from being on frwy going 60 mph and if that would've happened i dont see us getting out of that alive.the car dead stopped when that happened. At 65 mph that would have either flipped us or sent us flying thru windshield. Was told my vin not on recall list yet the exact same thing happened that almost could have killed us if we turned that corner and went on frwy.unacceptable for front tire and arm to just fall off.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. While driving 8 mph, the ball stud separated from the socket of the ball joint housing which caused the control arm to collapse and the wheel to fold in. As a result, the power steering seized. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed there was a catastrophic failure of the ball stud. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. The contact stated that while trying to open the front driver's side door, the door would not remain open. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was determined that the door check failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the issue. The failure mileage was unavailable and the current mileage was 122,000. The vin was not available.

We were in a car accident and although we were hit in the front, the air bags did not deploy.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. The contact stated that a loud metal-on-metal scraping sound was continuously heard from outside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the lower control arm would need to be replaced.the contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number 09e056000 (suspension) however, the vin was not included. The vehicle was scheduled for repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000. The vin was unavailable.

Ball joint cracked badly which is causing the ball stud to wear through the control arm housing resulting in noise and/or separation of the ball stud from the housing.

3 months ago i began hearing sqeaky noises from the rear of the car when i go over a bump and uneven road.2 weeks ago, my vehicle began to slightly wobble at low speed, as if the tire had went bad.3-4 days later, after a few days i began hearing humming noises from the tire rotation. The noise gets louder with acceleration and coasting down a hill.now its a knocking sound included, as if a piece of my tire component has fallen off. The repair shop informed me of a bad wheel bearing that i replaced.i was advised to get new tires due to irregular wear pattern and then an alignment.the following day i purchased 3 brand new tires. My vehicle still makes these noises and appears to be getting worse everyday. Thus led to my research online.the description that this recall lists and the symptoms resulting from these parts in the recall is exactly what i'm going through now.

While driving i was hearing noise under car. Then front drivers wheel came off damaging car above the tire while i was driving on the street at about 35 miles. Car was towed in to firestone where they had to replace ball joint and arm. Among the maintenance after that i was then told on passengers side the lower control arm ball joint was about to fall off.

Transmission herky jerky.

My control arm and lower ball joint separated while i was driving. I was left blocking a busy intersection because i literally could not move my car because the tire had also separated from the axle. I had to replace the right axle, right lower control arm, left lower ball joint, and replace the outer tie rod end. This cost me over $1,000. I recently came across that a recall was issued for these very things that happened to me, however, i was never notified. I would like to be reimbursed for this expense.

I am writing to the national highway traffic safety administration to file a complaint against the fiat-chrysler company. Since the beginning of february 2015, my horn has been going off when my is parked at night time, and therefore many complaints have been reported by my neighbors, when my horn automatically goes on during the hours of the night, it is very upsetting having to explain my situation to the neighbors.a technician at one of the fiat-chrysler repair centers diagnosed the problem and stated that the problem was the due to a bad switch that controls the driver's side airbag and horn, and that would cost over $1,000 to repair. The dealership stated that i would have to repair it because it wasn't recall issue. Because of the fact that i am on permanent disability and on a very low income, i am unable to afford to repair it.after realizing that there is no light in sight, i began to research as to how many other consumers/or chrysler sebring owners are experiencing the same problem as i am presently experiencing. I have discovered that there were approximately 52 complaints from sebring car owners listed in the following site: http://www.carcomplaints.com/chrysler/sebring/2006/accessories-interior/horn_goes_off_by_itself. Shtml thus i must request that the nhtsa's launch an investigation against the fiat-chrysler company by setting forth a recall to this subject matter. I am requesting a prompt reply for an immediate resolution to my situation, hoping the nhtsa can take this matter seriously before fatalities do occur on my behalf.please contact me on my email at [xxx]@gmail.com of by phone [xxx].[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

The horn started blowing on its own while i was driving on a local interstate.it caused the car next to me to swerve thinking i was blowing at them.i also got several angry looks.thankfully the horn eventually (5 minutes) stopped & i did not encounter bumper to bumper traffic.since the first incident it has happened several more times sometimes when driving and sometimes when parked. I also had a problem when a car pulled out in front of me and the horn would not blow when pushed but did start blowing a few seconds later and would not stop.this a very dangerous situation when the horn is needed & does not blow & is also a problem when it blows when it is not supposed to.i can imagine how i would feel if while sitting in stopped traffic the car behind me would lay on their horn for several minutes for no apparent reason.i have been told if you remove the air bag relay or unplug the horn wire the horn will stop blowing.this of course would leave you without a horn, which is not a good situation.i have also been told but have not confirmed that by unplugging the horn relay, it makes the drivers airbag inoperative (definitely a safety issue).the problem appears to be in the horn switch located on top of the air bag.i have been told by a chrysler dealer that the entire air bag needs to be replaced.if the horn does not blow when pushed or blows when it is not pushed it is a real safety concern not to mention if you were in a serious crash & the horn relay was removed causing the air bag not to deploy.

My horn goes off for no apparent reason.while driving down the road it goes off and to get it to stop i had to hold my hand lightly over the air bag and horn buttons on the steering wheel.

Horn going off while driving or parked.

This car should have had a recall for the bad suspension and for the horn. First of all i bought this car in early february 2007 from the dealer it was a certified used 2006 chrysler sebring touring. From the start the horn would blow at any given time.secondly i have replaced every suspension part from ball joints, lower &upper control arms, inner &outer tie rods and on and on. I have friends that have the same model car and they have the same problems. That's not including the wheel bearing, water flange, oil pressure sensor.

Turn signals, wipers and radio stopped working but intermittently.

Horn goes off all by it's self when car is off any time of day or night only way i could get it to stop was to pull horn fuse witch may disable airbag .possible cause is a clock spring in witch dealer claims to have never heard of before but when typed on line about it the problemit finishes your sentence. Sounds pretty common to me.this problem could cause the airbag to fail and cause injury to the driver or death

The horn goes off without warning.the first time is happened was a couple of months ago while driving down a city street at 6:10am (taking my child to school).the horn went off a various times (while driving down major city streets) for a few days.on saturday 1/2/16 i started (in my driveway) the car and the horn went off.i pushed the steering wheel the horn stayed on, next i pushed the panic button, it stayed on until i pushed the panic button a second time about 2 minutes later.then on the same day while driving on a (main city street) the horn went off four times within five minutes.however, each time it the horn turned off when i pushed the steering wheel. This morning 1/4/16 the horn went off several times back to back for about a minute, only turning off when i pushed the steering wheel. Did a google search and found 57 complaints (complaint.com) about the same horn problem. Suggested i add my voice to what is clearly a problem.

There has been a film on the windshield ever since i bought this car.i have tried to clean it with several things advised and even took it to a place that cleans vehicles in our area, but no matter what, the film is still there.i have bought at least 3 new, different types of windshield wipers.there is a spot here and there on the windshield where you will have clear vision but it is not where it is needed.i have tried cleaning the blades also because of build up and the squeak is awful.this car has been the biggest disappointment and lemon that i have ever bought.

I continue to have chronic "rim leaks" that began in july 2009 resulting in random flat tires.the local tire shop repaired and re-sealed all 4 tires on the 1st occurrence.a single tire then had the same problem in feb '10, and another tire in may '10.this is a safety problem as the situation is entirely random and has no connection to operation of the vehicle.the vehicle only has 36k miles.

The contact owns a 2006 chrysler sebring. While driving 10 mph, the front passenger wheel detached from the vehicle without warning. The body of the vehicle fell to the ground and sustained damages.
