While traveling at 50 or 55 rear ended a car.had slammed on brakes, brake pedal went to the floor, and vehicle did not stop.upon impact, airbags didnot deploy.

This complaint relates to a 1998 chrysler seibring convertible.the vehicle has two horns.during warranty, one horn failed and the manufacturer replaced it.the dealer said they fail "a lot".after warranty the other horn failed.i paid to replace it.the dealer indicated they failed frequently.at 9x,xxx miles the fuse in the horn/power outlet blew.dealer diagnosed it as a failure of the horn circuit in the steering column requiring replacement of the air-bag assembly -- cost with installation in excess of $800.vehicle has been without horn awaiting parts for more than a week.the horn is a critical piece of safety equipment and must be simple and cheap to repair when broken.by linking the horn circuit through the airbag, chrysler has made it neither cheap nor easy.many people will have to operate their vehicle without a horn since they won't have the $800+ to make what should be a few dollar repair.shame on chrysler for making the horn circuit this way.shame on you for tolerating horn failures that cost $800 to repair during the prime and useful life of the vehicle.

Airbags didnot deploy at collision with concrete wall at appox 55mph. Driver lost contro;l on wet pavement and hit wall with left side of front end then rest of front end, then spun around 180 degrees and hit the rear left trunk and back end of car. Insurance company totaled the car due to extensive body and frame damage.

The airbag did not deploy after hitting a utility pole head-on at approximately 40 to 45 mph.

I was involved in a car accident may 16th at 2:00 a.m. At the corner of page and bennington in creve coeur, mo.the entire front of the car is smashed in, yet the airbags did not go off, which, from what i have read at http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/chrysler_airbag.htm that this is a common occurrence in chrysler vehicles.i suffered a concussion, though the doctor feared it was much worse, ordering up cat scans to make sure that there was no further bleeding in my brain.i furthermore, have, now, a stiff neck, which fails in comparison to other problems that people have had, due to the fact that the airbag did not release as is, from what i have been told, required if theimpact is straight-on front side over 5 mph.now, that may be simply speculation on my end, yet, i know right now that i have permanent brain damage due to a faulty airbag.*nlm

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision at 35mph. Upon impact, airbags did not deploy, resulting in minor injury. Dealer and manufacture have been notified.

While traveling at 45mph and trying to avoid an object in the raod consumer ran off the raod into a tree at 45mph front collision, and the air bags did not deploy. Dealer has been contacted.

Plz note 1998 chrysler sebrings door levers will break on you both mine did as well as others i notice on the internet. First it was one door handle tried to lift it and the other one brakes. So for mths i had to get into the passenger side door to open drivers side door. Then passenger side door lever wont open. I read some guy door even came of while he was driving. And to there is a distributor you will have that problem i notice with a 1998 chrysler sebring it will die on you. You will tow it and cost thousands to repair. As far as the doors im calling chrysler if any recalls on both doors..and most likely pay hundreds to get it fix by some1. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Both outside door handles have broken off within 2 months of each other.appear to be made of plastic.no unusual force used on either handle. Just snapped off. Unable to enter car conventionally, must go through trunk.taken to body shop to repair.

While installing a css in the rear seat, the locking latch plate (made of plastic) popped apart and fell off. Since it no longer was locking, it becomes a sliding latch plate and would require a locking clip to ensure the css would stay in place. The service dept. Popped the piece back on. The locking latch plate is easy to pull apart....will this hold if there is an accident?

Defective door handle on my 1998 chrylser sebring:my door handle on the driver side broke off right in my hand as i attempted to opent the door. Due to expensive repair the handle is still broken . Over the years i have noticedclose to a hundred sebring owners with broken door handles, so this is obviously a manufacturers defect and should be recalled!

The contact owns a 1998 chrysler sebring.the contact stated that the door latch has failed three times when she attempted to open the driver side door.when attempting to unlock the vehicle, the key turns, but does not unlock the vehicle.the contact took the vehicle to different mechanics and they replaced the locks and latches twice.the current mileage was 139,000 and failure mileage was 110,000.

Trunk lid supports (neumatic supports?) failed to keep trunk open, causing the trunk lid to fall closed on the back of my head while i was securing the spare tire while parked at a gas station. Car only has 55,000k miles. The trunk lid came crashing down as if it had no support at all. If this is a model wide defect,i think this hazard could potentially cause serious injury, especially to children.

I purchased this car on nov 2, 2003. When i purchased it, there was a rattling noise when you go over bumps, and also when the car goes up to 70 you could here a grinding like noise in (what i thought was the engine).they told me to go ahead and take the car and they scheduled me for service the following friday. When i brought the car in, they said they didn't work on chryslers and sent the car to tuffy. When it was time to pick up the car, the guy tore up the bill of service and said you're all set, so i really don't know what was done. When i asked for a copy he said he didn't have it, but could it order it for me. When i drove home, the rattling noise under the front left side was gone, but when i got off the freeway and tried to make a left turn, the car pulled away in the opposite direction and didn't want to turn. I almost ran into a tree. I called and told them about it, so they had me bring it in that following monday for service. When i picked it up again, they said they had to replace the bearings, that the bearings were bad.as i drove off the lot and onto the freeway, you could hear a grinding noise under your feet as the wheels turned and also anytime you tried to apply pressure to the brakes, the car would grind like the there was something going on between the wheels, brakes and steering. I waited 3 days to make sure it wasn't just me. But what appeared in the beginning to be a slight grinding when you get up to a certain speed evolved into a problem that was much worse. A problem that you could here more consistently, every time you applied pressure to the brakes, or just sometimes driving along the streets you could hear the grinding in the wheels, like something had rusted or gone bad, which caused the car to drive hard. It took a lot more power to accelerate, so much so that it feels like the overdrive doesn?t work(it takes that much power to get the car going, and it wasn?t that way before.

Tire rims are too soft!!!! have replace 2 rims and have owned vehicle less than 18 months.door panels are defective!!!sunroof upholstery is defective.engine roars.over drive button is located in a bad place.instructions are confusing between panel instructions and o/d manuel.i love to drive this car....but i hate it!am extremely disappointed!!!( dot number: )

When driving at any speed and applyingbrakes, vehicleshakes and pulls to the right. Wnen consumer drives over 15 mph, vehicle starts to vibrate. Also, when switching into a different gear there is a knocking noise coming from the vehicle.

When coming to a stop or at low speedvehicle will downshift. Gear will go from drive to third gear by itself, without moving it byhand.dealer claims this is a characteristic of vehicle, and it helps to protect transmission.

Transmission failed.yh

I am the owner of a 1998 chrysler sebring, and recently have had problems with the transmission (automatic) not shifting correctly.we took the vehicle in to have it checked out and the shop said that this is a common problem with this vehicle. They said that when the ect module inside the transmission goes bad, it causes the whole transmission to burn out.we took the vehicle to the local chrysler dealer to get a second opinion and they too confirmed that the transmission had gone bad, due to the module going out. My boyfriend works in the automotive parts business and he talked to a few shops about this vehicle and they all said that this is a common problem for the chrysler sebring. The vehicle has about 112k miles. We were quoted 3k to repair the vehicle at thechrysler dealer. Ts

Purchased a 1998 chrysler sebring july 1998. Had so many problems within a few week period that the dealer took it back, and gave me another one in august 1998. After a couple of weeks, the 2nd sebring developed similar problems. When driving over bumps primarily on left side, a loud metalic rat-a-tat-tat sound coming from wheels. While driving downhighway at 50-55 mphmolding onpassenger's side door flew offvehicle inmiddle of traffic. Consumer has yet to contactdealer. But, this is a big problem with this year/ make a model. Please provide any further details.

Dt*:the contact stated both outside door handles are plastic and have cracked.the doors will not open therefore; the vehicle has not been to a dealership.

Side door panels keep falling off.advised by dealer due to design flaw air gets under panels during driving and causes the panel to come off.advised by dealer that there is no permanent fix...that they have several customers with same problem...one man has had his door panels replaced at least six or seven times.i have been fortunate in that panel has not come off during driving.however, if it does, it could very easily cause another unsuspecting motorist to have a fatal accident since panel is very large.i have my third appointment to get this fixed again on sept 29, 1999.please note my e-mail address is [email protected] (i was unable to go back and correct this error).

Car is falling apart, unsafe to drive, can't see out of it due to icing and other problems took to dealer for repairs, repairs were not completed

While in a parking lot the siding on the front passenger door side fell off.on july 19thwhile driving about 20-25 mph the siding fell off. Thesiding has been completely replaced once and reattached twice by the dealership.

Outside panel of the driver's side door came loose and hungout on the side.dealerhas repaireddriver side door seven times, and one time on passenger side.but problem still exists.

On three occasions the exterior door side panel plastic rivets fell off.

Consumer states after having recall repairs completed to the door garnish molding trim clip, there was a minor vibration that could be heard on the passenger side of the vehicle, consumer noticed the passneger door molding had moved toward the front of the vehicle, when opening the the passenger door, the molding contacted the front fender, when closing the door and moving the molding away from the fender toward the reaer of the vehicle approximately half an inch, the vibration no longer occured.

Both door handles broke off in consumers hand when attempting to open door.

1998 chrysler sebring. Last year sport moulding fell off passenger door. Two weeks ago, passenger door handle broke when opening door.

While driving thedoor moulding fell off, resulting in loss of control andcausingdamage to theto the rim.dealer has been notified.

The trim on the outside of both driver side and passenger side doors have been fixed once and replaced once.the trim seems to fall of during the summer when tempuratures reach 105 or above for several days in a row.the trim has come loose from the passanger side door again.i have been talking with the dealer since september 15, 2000, i have brought my car into the dealer ship 3 since september, and i received a repair notice in the mail.the notice stated that chrysler world replace the part free of charge for my car.the last time i brought my car in, the dealer handed me a qoute for $276. I was told they will not replace for free unless i had the card, which i can not find.

Consumer states that both outside door handles fell off, within three days apart. Dealer and the manufacturer have beennotified. Feel free to provide any further information.

The lower outside door (garnish)panels have parted from the car. The problem seems to advance when the outside air temp is high, causing panels to warp.at that point the plastic clips fail and panel parts from car.dealer has made several attempts to repair but problems are not remediated.design of molding clips may be defective.

Passenger door panels fallen off multiple (10+) times.dealer has not offered a solution.

The contact owns a 1998 chrysler sebring.while driving 55 mph, the driver side door detached from the vehicle.the dealer stated that the door clips were not tightly secured and offered to replace the door.there were no injuries.the current and failure mileages were 138,000.

Consumer noticed rust on door hinge.as aresult of rust door would become unlocked and come open while traveling. Consumer states door post rusted around bolt heads, consumer is not satisfied with investigation from dealership.

Dt:the contact stated the outer door handles broke.this happened one time on both doors.the second time, the contact'sdaughter was inside the vehicle and it was running.the vehicle has not been to a chrysler dealership.he purchased the parts and was going to fix this himself.

1998 chrysler sebring. Last year sport moulding fell off passenger door. Two weeks ago, passenger door handle broke when opening door.

Door cladding falling off / brake rotors warp easily.

While parking, the convertible top unraveled from the rear window seal.this caused water to leak inside the vehicle. Consumer was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for inspection.the mechanic informed theconsumer there were no recalls on this vehicle.this problem remained current. *sc

Cylinder and pump motor that raises and lowers roof top malfunctioned.*ml

When it rains vehicle floods due the convertible top drain being clogged.

In rainy weather conditions rain enters the vehicle from the convertible top, cause unknown. Please give any further details.

Frame of convertible top is cracking and cannot be used. Vehicle has never been involved in an accident.

The side panels would fall off as you are driving.once the right panel and it was destroyed. The left came off on highway and cars behind me had to swerve and ran over the panel .it was destroyed.

The passenger-side door panel, called cladding, continues to come loose.the first time, i heard a loud rattling sound and had to pull over.the side panel, a very large plastic piece which extends the length of the door was hanging on by only one plastic clip.i took the panel off because i was afraid that it might fly off and hit someone else's vehicle.i waited for approximately two months before the part even came in because it was on a national back order.i am curious to know if this part is in such a high demand because other owners of this vehicle are having the same problem.the second time, i simply closed my door and noticed that the side panel was once again, barely hanging on.the same part is still on national back order.this time i had the body shop look at the panel to see if they could repair the panel and they did have to remove the piece because the plastic clips on this piece were also broken.

The car is designed so that any speed bump, driveway,or parking lot block can cause damage to the front of this car. It is about half the distance from the ground as any other car and the fiberglass body splits and must be repaired for hundreds of dollars. This is not normal wear and tear. I know that when i see an elevated drive ahead of me, i must slow down to 3 miles an hour and enter at a diagonal so as not to hear that scraping sound.

Side molding fell off on the freeway. Brakes vibrated. Dealer said it was normal wear. Rims have bent several times.front end was very low to the ground. Engine died becuase serpentine timebelt came off, causingengine to cease. Dealer tried to repairproblem, but it still squealed. Dealer couldn't remedy the problem.

When drving at any speed the outside frame panel on the driver's side and the passenger's side is coming off.also, all fourwheel rims are bend and sticking in the tires.

The sebring has multiple structural and functional defects which devalue the car. No safety defect (s) mentioned in summary.

At 300 miles all inside panels had be replaced. ( the panels had what looked like sun spots in them. But after getting new panel's which had the same spots in them. It seems to be a production problem. On the 3rd set panels.) at 400 miles driver's window trim started coming loose. The car's insulation or lack of is so poor that you hear the exhaust system grinding on the frame of the car. When you press on the brakes the l/h front wheel starts to vibrate. Both door's leak when it rain's or when you wash the car. On dec 24, 1998 it rained and with weather droping down below freezing and with no ice on the outside of the car showing i could not open the door's on the car for about one hour. On dec 23, 1998 i called daimlerchrsler motors corportion customer assistance center ( 1-800-992-1997 ) to find out chrysler meaning of quality. The answer was mitsubishi build's the sebring and that chrysler has no control over there quality and that what you have warranty for.

I bought a used car from a licensed inspection station and used car dealer 28 days after i bought the car i found out the frame was rotted and it should have never passed inspection the place i bought the car inspected it when i told the dealer about it he refused to refund my money or return my calls i don't believe that a used car dealer like this should be in business and would like something done this could have caused injuries to my family.

I purchased a 1998 chrysler sebring lxi the car has numerous problems, one is the control arm in the vehicle. This is a list of other evac problems - i was told that there was a recall on my vehicle for various problems - please advice - need help - called chrysler dealerships and first they said my vehicle was not affected - then they tell me they can charge me $149.00 to reset the computer catalyst(g)/nmhccatalyst(d)evaporative system(g)/ unsupportive(d)02 sensor(g) exhaust gas sensor(d)02 sensor heater (g) pm filter (d)egr/vvt (g,d)po455 evaporative emission system leak detected (large leak)my headlamps are yellow and my rear window looks like there is some kind of mold sandwiched into the glass and defrost...almost impossible to see out of at night.

Vehicle would vibrate while driving at approx. 30-35 mph, andvibrates even harder whenever vehicle increases its speed.vehicle was in /out dealer shop, and was informed that the problem could not be corrected.

The contact owns a 1998 chrysler sebring. While driving approximately 20 mph, the front driver side tire detached. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the lower ball joint and axle failed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the lower arm control, lower ball joint, tie rod, and axle failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000. The vin was not available.

Service engine light came on oct 2003. Took it to the goodyear (gy) service center put on a diagn. Machine. Indicated misfires. The wheels on the front of this car bend at the rims due to their low profile and the suspension system of this automobile.this car driven for casual use only has the rims dented in several places.the dealer stated this was due to driving roads in west virginia, and the tire was so narrow it would always bend the rim.i asked why wasn't i informed when i bought the car and he said he did not know.this could easily break the seal causing a premature blow out and a major wreck.

This owner''s ''98 chrysler sebring was serviced for remedy relative to recall campaign 04v-421-002 at approximately 160,000 miles. At approximately 171,000 miles the lower lateral arm separated from the ball joint at low speed (20 '' 25 mph).owner stated that after action inspection found the joint dry (no lubrication) & pitted.''it wore to the point where it popped out of the socket.''there were no injuries as a result of the incident.damaged systems include, half-shaft, wheel, tire, fender, front fascia and possibly transmission.chrysler is currently inspecting vehicle.

The contact owns a 1998 chrysler sebring.the contact was driving 15-20 mph when the front driver side lower ball joint fractured from the vehicle causing the wheel to also separate from the vehicle.the contact stated that the front suspension was problematic but had not experienced any incidents that presented a safety risk.the vehicle was repaired.the vin was not available. The current and failure mileage was approximately 156,000.

The contact owns a 1998 chrysler sebring.the front driver side wheel nearly detached from the vehicle while driving 45 mph.the contact heard a horrible grinding noise underneath the vehicle and then the steering wheel jerked.she depressed the brake pedal and managed to stop the vehicle.she then noticed that the wheels were mostly out of place.she called the dealer and they notified her of a recall for the same failure that her vehicle was experiencing.the dealer stated that the vehicle had been previously repaired and could not be repaired again.the contact stated that the vehicle had never before been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 90,000.updated 01/03/08. *ljrecall# 00v421002 the dealer informed the consumer there was a recall on the lower ball joints, however it had already been fixed on the vehicle. The left front came off while traveling 40 mph. Vehicle was towed.dealer made the repairs to the upper ball joint.manufacturer told the consumer to take the vehicle to another dealer.on 12/31/04 the left front wheel dislocated from vehicle, cause was due to failure of lower lateral ball joint which is noted in safety recall 00v421002.daimler chrysler has refused to provide compensation for damages to vehicle and expenses.

Due to problems with ball joint and vibrations when trying to stop vehicle iran into the back of a truck and pushed that truck into the back of a mercedes. The impact was significant and resulted in a hole in the front of my 98 chrysler sebring lxi. Luckily, no one was hurt. The driver of the mercedes was anxious to leave the scene and since there was no damage to the truck i hit, everyone agreed not to stick around for the police. The air bag did not deploy.about a year and a half ago my son, who was 18 years old at the time, was driving and when he failed to stop at a stop sign he ran into the side of someone else's car. This incident was reported to the police and there was a couple thousand dollars worth of damage to my car, not counting the damage to the other vehicle. The air bag did not deploy. My son bumped his head, but thankfully, was not seriously hurt.

Wheel hub bearing on left rear wheel went bad.my mechanic said that these parts should not go bad until i reach at least 80,000 miles on my car.his comment was that the part must have been defective from the start.my complaint about the molding:i took my car to an automatic car wash and it came out with a bent molding which the chrysler dealership said had to be replaced and could not be fixed.they encouraged me to get the money from the car wash, however, when investigating they determined that the molding on my car was loose on the other side and the car wash could not be at fault.this was $200.00 out of my pocket for a poorly assembled car.

For approximately 2 years , there has been a gradual roar from the right rear wheel. Upon a complete investigation it has been summized as the rear wheel hub bearing/assembly is defective. This started at 50k miles. Since this is a sealed component it would have to be a manufacturer defect. *nlm

The rear axle failed without warning.

Goodyear blow out on the right rear passengers side.replaced tire,

While drive from philadelphia pa to linthicum, md on i-95, my driver's side tire - which is 6 weeks old - blew out. My tire was not improperly inflated nor was i approaching or exceeding the manufacturer's recommended speed rating. Having to cross 4 lanes of traffic to safety, during rush hour on an interstate was more than hazardous, however i was able to control the vehicle preventing injury to myself, my passenger, or other commuters. I contacted the dealer where the tire was purchased who informed me that i had no recourse through their establishment or the manufacturer. This doesn't seem to be a legitimate statement considering that this type of defect endangers so many lives. Please investiage this incident and advise me what other course of action is available. (tiresize: p215/55r16)

Several flat tires, since less than 15k miles on vehicle -- i've had over a half dozen flats in the two years i've owned the vehicle( dot number:)

Since purchasing my sebring in may '98 i have had 6 flat tires. I have never had a flat before. After speaking with other sebring owners it seems there could be a fault in the soft aluminum wheels. I have just had my second flat in the past 2 weeks and am afraid to get into the car. This is happening on 3 of my wheels, not just the same one. Usually it is a slow leak. I work for the airlines and i am out of the country quite a bit. This makes it even more strange as i probably drive half the miles of anyone else. Since purchasing the car from another person in may '98 i have driven only 15,000 miles. What should i do? thanks. (dot number: ?tiresize: oep215/50r)

I have had nothing but problems out of this car!!the car was purchased in charlotte, but i live in spartanburg, so all service and maintenance had been performed at quality chrysler (1030 n. Church st., spartanburg, sc29303; phone: 864/596-4550).the transmission was not shifting correctly in 11/98, but they couldn't find anything wrong with it at the dealership.it would not move when put into reverse or drive.they finally found the problem in 6/98.started having additional problems in 11/99, and they stated once again that there was not a problem.-the door panels have come off of both doors on numerous occasions. Blew a tire while driving approximately 25mph.rim appears to have cut through side wall.-horn on right side of steering wheel does not work.this is a safety issue in that i couldn't alert a vehicle that was about to shift into my lane.i had to drive onto the shoulder of the road to avoid an accident.-i have had other problems that are not safety issues, including :spots in paint on spoiler, alarm sounding when unlocking passenger door with key, spots on back window.i am very unhappy with the quality of this car, especially since it is my very first new car.

When driving and turning the floor mat gets caught in the bottom of the steering column because there is no boot surrounding the steering column, which makes it impossibleto turn. Also, the steering locks up.dealer says that it is just the way it's made.

Floor mat on the driver's side pushed up under the gas pedal and became entangledwith the steering column universal joints that pierce the firewall, binding vehicle control. The dealer just repositioned the floor mat.

Passenger front wheel is making loud noise.

Floor mat goes up the universal joint. It frays and it pulls the floor mat. Driver not able to steer.consumer has contacted dealer and manufacturer.

The mat on the dirver's side became caught in the steering column base.the mat started to move and caused diffculty with controlling the car while turning a corner.i was able to pull off of the road after completing the turn and pull the mat back out.the binding off of the mat had to be removed by the service dept. At the dealership.i was told there was nothing they could do to cover the steering column to prevent it from happening again.

Don\\\\\\'t know exact dates but had window trim repaired for leaking on left and right side windows and interior covers under door handles replaced for peeling away under orig. Extended warranty.paid $75 for diagnoses and approx. $30 for rental car and am still told \\\\\\tough luck\\\\\\ on my repairs and that i am responsible even though they have been repaired previously.oh, and come to find out if i had been informed correctly the first time that my repairs would have been covered because they are warrantied for twelve months!! of course i relied on an answer from an employee at chrysler/jeep in southfield, michigan and since they misinformed me i am sol.i have also gone \\\\\\'round and \\\\\\'round with chysler customer service and they have been very unhelpful.

Floor mat raised up under the gas pedal. There is a bolt from steering on the bottom to the floor.the bolt got caught on the floor mat which didn't allow it to turn.

Cruise control from purchase didn't work, salesman told me i needed to be traveling 55 mph for it work.turned out, it was broken, cost me $100 to repair.one month after purchase, car dead, turned out it needed a batery. Dealership paid the cost.2nd month after purchase, check enging light came on, car running sluggish and popping noise, turned out i needed a spark plug. I requested they change them all.they wouldn't. 3 months after purchase check enging light on again, car running very sluggish, popping noise again, filled up with gas, car wouldn't start, had to have it towed it.this is rediculous.i want to file a lemon. Law.i can't afford a $400/mo paymnet and pay for my car to be repaired on a monthly basis.what can i do?

The paint is disappearing on the spoiler, trunk, top, quarer-panel and now the hood of my black 1998 sebring.mirrors are dulling.dealership offered to pay $600 after we have the car painted and take it back to them.this will not cover the expense of a quality paint job (that we paid for when we bought the car).estimate to fix visible damage (excepy hood) was $2404, but unless the car is resurfaced the paint will fail again.

When stopping and engine reaches 750 rpm, engine surges by 300 rpm before decreasing to idle at about 650 rpm.if brake is not held tight, car will lurch forward and hit anything in front of it. Dealer says they do not know how to fix problem after several attempts, and with different dealers.

When vehicle was started and placed into reverse it pulled off on its own while consumer had the brakes applied, backed into a building very fast, jumping at least seven feet in the air, and landing back on all four wheels before coming to a stop. The dealer has been contacted.

Consumer's vehicleexprienced the same throttle problem as stated in recall # 02 v 186 000,which resulted in an accident. But this recall was foryears 1995/1996, not on1998.contacted dealer.

Vehicle was placed in drive and accelerated on its own to a point where rubber was burned prior to hitting the vehicle parked in front. The automatic floor shift was then placed into reverse where the vehicle shot backwards for approximately 40 feet before hitting another parked vehicle, at that point the engine was shut down.

Defective throttle linkage caused vehicle to take off unexpectedly up to speeds of 50 mph while in reverse, driver slammed on brakes, but vehicle would not stop until hitting a building.

While driving on highway a t approx 30-40 mph, got ready to slow down , and the vehicle started to accelerate. Applied brakes, and the rpms shot up to 4 or 5. Had to pull the emergency brakes in order to stop the vehicle.

I was going 55 miles per hour with cruise control set when i hit the brake my car started going faster and would not slow down i had to turn the key off and go into a field.

On highway 69 i proceeded to passing a semi near craft road.after passing the semi i release my foot off of the throttle, but the car continued to accelerate.finally at 102 mph bouncing my foot on and off the pedal with no change.when going into the corner i then bumped the transmission into neutral and turned the key off.i popped the hood, got out and could see no issue with the cable, still in it's factory location.no binds or kinks i then pushed down on the throttle linkage on the throttle body and it popped loose.i got back in and haven't had another problem since.

Car is falling apart, unsafe to drive, can't see out of it due to icing and other problems took to dealer for repairs, repairs were not completed

All 4 wheels are bent on car from road pot holes. The rims are made from aluminum. They are to soft for the low profile good year tire that is on the car. Went the rim bends the tire belts break causing the car to vibrate. The goodyear tire that is on the car is the only 17 inch tire that fits the car. I have checked out many other sebrings most of their rims are bent also. This is a very bad safty issue. I use my car to travel for my work.

Engine-well maintained failed at 60k miles.oil pump and bearings. Door assembly keeps coming loose, handle fell off. Wheels too soft, bent all of the time.fuel pump failed at 17k miles.this car is a lemon.

Rotors constantly being replaced or turned; vibration bad; now dealer blaming it on weak wheels.

Axel and ball joint went out on me after buying this car within 48 hours.

I have had 3 out of 4 my rims bend (at speed from 40 - 55 mph), which claused flat tires.these rims are highly unreliable!!!please investigate!!!i have talked to other sebring owners, and all have had the same problems!!!

This is the 4th wheel for this vehicle that has bent in 2 years.

Front left wheel assembly onvehicle fell offcompletely while traveling at approximately 30 mph.dealership did not giveconsumer a reason for possible defect.prior work was done by a private mechanic - an investigator looked into this matter.please provide any additional information/attachments/photographs.

Possibly wheel rim failure.

Rims are bending easily and tires will not stay inflated. Consumer had to have rims repaired 7 times. Consumer also started a file with chrysler #8432551.

Consumer states that while driving and no warning the rim is cutting the tire causing the tire to lose air and the consumer is force to pull over. Dealer notified. Mr

Replaced the rims on all four wheels five times due to premature cracking.please give any further details.

I have had 4 flat tires since i purchase the vehicle less than a year ago. At first i thought it was the tires, but after the fourth flat, and seeing other complaints on this website, i realized it was the car. The rims bend, releasing air and the tires go flat. Then the rim wrecks the tire, and bends further. Essentially, it is a car that can't even be driven. The previous owner had to also replace all 4 tires but didn't tell me until later, and sold the car to me with only 10,000 miles on it.at $200 a peice, it really adds up. I have contacted chrysler and they continue to drag their feet. I feel these cars should be re-called, especially after hearing the numerous complaints from other sebring owners having the same problems. (tiresize: 2155017)( dot number:tire size: 2155017 )

I have a chrysler sebring lxi 1998 with 17 in. Low profile wheels currently 64,000. I notice that city driving has been extremely hard on my wheels. The first year that i had it, the rims bent under regular road travel.the inability to handle regular driving appears to be to uncommon and i felt that i must file a complaint before this goes unnoticed.

The rims on all four wheels are bent due to a defective design which may cause a tire blowout.common problem. *ml

All four wheel rims bent, causing steering problemswhich may result inloss of control. Dealer said consumer needed to replace all the rims.previously, replaced front brake rotors .please provide further information.

In 2.5 yrs i have had 5 rims bend resulting in blown tires.very poor design.chrysler needs to handle this before somone gets hurt or dies!!!and it is very expensive!!! (tiresize: p215/50r17)( dot number:tire size: p215/50r17 )
