I was driving around town and my air bag light came on.now the steering wheel kinda clunks when you turn it and is stiff when making turns. Since this has happen my horn nor my cruise control works.contacted chrysler and my vin isn't in the recall for air bag issues.seems unsafe

2001 chrysler sebring lxino horn, no cruise control, and air bag deactivated (light on)all three of these issues are due to a defective clock spring part# 4649092ac by chrysler corp. They had this same issue with their late 90's to early 2000 mini van's.this is a real threat to public safety, and there need to be action taken; do to the fact there are thousands of these clock springs (4649092ac) on the road. Do to the cost of this repair (check alldata auto repair guide), a lot of people will opt out of doing this repair.

The dash, radio, & cd player lights flash off and on intermittently. This occurs on random occasions, but seems to happen more often in wet weather. It also happens when operating the turn signal. The lights will dim low and will not return to a "normal" brightness until you adjust the turn signal arm. Another alarming issue is on occasion, smoke will appear from the steering column when turning on the lights. The other electrical problem is when turning a corner and accelerating after a stop, the cd player hesitates, or skips as if the power has been switched off. The suspension problem is the noise of metal and banging in the suspension. We had a very dangerous incident happen while on a trip when the upper drivers side control arm disintegrated while driving at highway speed (65 mph). I fought to control the car and managed to get it off the highway to the shoulder of the road. There was no warning or indication that a problem was about to occur. We nearly died. The repair was expensive, and now it appears a similar problem may be occurring on the right side.

My car started making this incredible squeaking sound every time i turned by steering wheel to the left or right.the squeaking started in mid-january of this year (2014)i have had my car checked by 2 professional mechanics and was told by both that my ball joints were defective and had to be replaced.the mechanics also advised that my car was dangerous to drive.i have done some research and found that there was a recall concerning ball joints issued on my make, model and year vehicle. The recall was issued on october 9, 2009 under recall #68353.at the time the recall was issued my car was not 10 years old.i contacted my local dealership and was told my vehicle (based on my vin #) was not included in the recall.i then contacted chrysler dealership customer assistance line and again was told that my vin # was not included in the recall.when i asked why some vin #'s were included and some were not, i was told that different ball joints were probably put on my car and that those ball joints were not included in the recall.i then asked why they put different type parts on the same make, model and year of car and could not get an answer. They could not tell me what type of ball joints were put on my car.obviously, the defective ball joints are the ones that were put on my car.i also was told by customer assistance that my car was manfactured on august 11, 2000.after doing the math, it seems that my car should be covered under the recall that was issued on october 9, 2009.i do not understand why some cars are covered under the recall and some are not.please consider having my vin # added to the recall that was issued october 9, 2009.i am certain my vehicle should fall under those guidelines.i have no other recourse.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
