Takata recall. According to the air bag recall info. This auto is among the listed but the dealership and you people won't do anything. Our air bag red light on the dash has been on now 2yrs. The seat belt red light and warning noise goes on frequently even tho it is secure. Quite annoying.

I own a 2008 chrysler sebring touring convertible and 1 week after buying this vehicle in april 2009, the fabric on the driver side seat "busted" open. The seats have a zipper up the back of them that are designed to bust open when the airbags deploy. The dealer fixed this at this time for no cost. Now, the passenger seat has done the same thing. My air bag default light continues to state a malfunction and it was at this time that i noticed the fabric has busted open on the passenger seat indicating another malfunction with the air bag within that seat. I am concerned there is a safety concern with the airbags in my car and am concerned they are not working/will not work if needed.i would greatly appreciate any help with this potential safety risk. Thank you.

My airbag light came on and the dealer wants $550 to fix it. I think it is a safety issue and should not be so expensive to fix. I am now driving with no airbag due to a bad clockspring in the steering wheel. On my 1996 it was a recall and the dealer had to fix it for free, why don't they do it on thisnewer model. The cost is way too high for the part and amount of time it would take them to replace it.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the driver crashed into another vehicle. The contact stated that the air bags did not deploy upon impact and the driver sustained a sprain to her left knee cap. The manufacturer was notified and stated that they would send someone out to inspect the vehicle. The failure mileage was 47,000.

--- chrysler sebring limited 2008 convertible ---airbag light randomly comes on and off, and it seems to be related to the passenger seat tracking sensor. There is a recall on chrysler sebring 2008, but it doesn't come up for my vin number.

While driving on a highway at high-speed, all the electrical instruments began flashing on/off. The airbag light began flashing and a chime could be heard.this occurs intermittently (3-5 times per year) and chrysler cannot properly diagnose the problem.with this latest incident, the dealership told me it would cost $800 for a new power control module.i researched online only to learn there are thousands of people with identical complaints about their chrysler vehicles, while nhtsa refuses to order a recall.i refuse to allow chrysler to perform work on this vehicle unless they can guarantee the repair and cap the cost.i purchased this vehicle new and chrysler failed to disclose two auto body repairs performed prior to sale - i discovered this on the chrysler website and since spent over $1,500 to repair it because chrysler refused to accept any responsibility after the lemon laws expired.

While driving on a highway at high-speed, all the electrical instruments began flashing on/off. The airbag light began flashing and a chime could be heard. This occurs intermittently (3-5 times per year) and chrysler cannot properly diagnose the problem. This seems to happen most frequently while driving on the interstate while raining with the windshield wipers on high.on one occasion while travelling through the mountains of western pennsylvania on the turnpike at night in the rain the entire car wentdark for about 10 seconds.it appeared that the system rebooted.original owner.

The dealer insisted that the random horn blowing was coming from a defective tipm rather than a problem behind the airbag within the steering wheel which is where many complaints about this problem have detected the cause.the car horn blows whether it is stationary or moving.mechanic would not consider the possibility of removing the steering wheel cap to determine whether it was really coming from within the steering wheel or not.it was just easier for them and more expensive for me to state that the random horn blowing came from the tipm.i ran out of there like a bat out of hell after paying $280 for the diagnostic work!meanwhile, now i have to drive the car without a horn which is a safety hazard.

The car will rev at a stop light and occasionally shut down. Periodically, the vehicle will not start after a few hours of driving requiring a jump start we have replaced the brake switch several times and the cruise control will not work

The electro-luminesnce lighting for the instrument cluster goes out randomly after starting the car after say fueling, or going to a store.there appears to be some correlation with engine temperature; i.e., it happens more frequently when the engine is still warm.the condition does not allow me to view the instrument panel (fuel gauge, engine temperature, speedometer, or tachometer)all other warnings and monitoring are ok (e.g., tire pressure warnings, odometer, etc).

I was driving one morning and it was raining. The electronic throttle control light came on and the car wouldn't accelerate over 20 mph. I cut the car off and started it back up and it didn't do it anymore. Until the other day when exiting off the interstate the car lost speed and the same light came on. The restarting trick didn't work. The car runs shaky and is idled up high when started. The car still won't accelerate over 20mph. Had it diagnosed and discovered the throttle body needs to be replaced as well as the intake manifold runner valve to fix this problem. I see a lot of people that own this car 2007/2008 have this problem. Which can potentially be dangerous especially while on the interstate!

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible. The contact stated that after the vehicle was started, the instrument panel failed to operate. In addition, the check engine, the air bag, the throttle body control and the driver seat belt warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 08v152000 (electrical system).the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

2008 chrysler sebring electrical system recall 08v152000nhtsa:action number: n/aservice bulletin number: 08v152000report date:apr 02, 2008component:electrical systempotential units affected:180963manufacturer:chrysler llc summary: chrysler is recalling 180,963 my 2007-2008 sebring and dodge avenger vehicles equipped with a standard tire pressure monitoring system (tpms). Unused electrical connectors for the tpms may become corroded and could short circuit, which can cause a variety of conditions including engine no-start, dead battery, an inoperative cruise control or remote start system, and/or engine stalling.consequence: engine stalling could cause a crash without warning.note: myn car has the same symptons has described in this recall. Especially the stalling at lights on first acceleration. Then yo have to stop the car put it in park and restart and go. Tire pressure light comes on when i have these intermitnent problems. A accident waiting to happen and get rear-ended. Unfortunately my car vin does not fall in this recall for some unexplanable reason. Can it be extended to cover my car. Thanks for your time!!!!!

Takata recall, the tire pressure light has been on for some time now and as recently as last month my service engine light came on requiring me to change the crankshaft position sensor. Last week my stereo was shorted out and my cruise control no longer works and only my high beams are working. Today my car would not start and i took it to dealership because when i tried to start it the dash flashed as if it shorted out and come to find out my battery was dead drained for some reason. There has also been a couple occasions when my convertible top got stuck in open position and would not go down. I had to wait about 5 minutes before restarting car to get top to close all the way down. The car was parked when opening and closing top. The tire pressure icon is still showing on dash board.

I purchased a new 2008 chrysler sebring hardtop convertible in october of 2007 and i am having problems with the convertible top and door locks.i took my vehicle to the shop several times regarding this matter and they are not able to satisfied me regarding my car.

First i went to start the car, i noticed the battery wasn't starting. I open the hood and tried to move the battery post, they were tight, but the plastic cover on the post started sending sparks out when i touched it. After a while i tried to start it again and it started right up. Then i noticed the malfunction indicator light came on. I let it run for about a minute then i turned it off. I didn't drive it at all that day. Later i checked it again. It didn't start. So i did the same thing again it started right up but the electronic throttle control light was on as well. I was afraid to drive it i thought the sparks might make it catch on fire. I think there were a recall on this car a while back.i've never had a problem with this car. I know that many people have had this same problem on their chrysler vehicles. I read about many other problems as well. What should i do next? i'm really not interested in paying any deductibles and car repairs at this time. Help!!! is this anything that i need to worry about?

While driving my car stalled and suddenly, without warning cut off! needless to say, this is very dangerous.i immediately took my car to dealer and was charged over $500 for tune-up, oil change, and diagnostic check.engine light came back on within one week.i cannot afford the costly repairs when mechanics cannot diagnose the issue.however, more importantly, i cannot afford to be hurt in a car accident. Back to the mechanics spending $146.00 for oxygen sensor ~ engine light back on within one week! car stalling and idol is extremely high ~ car cutoffs continues....emissions test time ~ failed! now told need new power control monitor. According to the mechanic " codes are being shown for no reason".

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible.the contact stated that she accidentally pressed the button to pull back the convertible roof and the roof began to open.the failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired.the failure and current mileages were 51,000.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible. When the seat belt was buckled, the warning light remained illuminated and the engine failed while driving 10 mph. The vehicle was taken in for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the vehicle could not be diagnosed because the battery continued to drain. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

While driving the dashboard lightsflickered then went out, my convertible top has a malfunction and will not openand the door locks unlock and lock on their own.

I was driving home from work and the horn began chirping randomly over the course of about 30 minutes.after 30 minutes of random "chirps" the horn engaged and did not stop.this was while i was driving down the interstate.i pulled off the road and turned the car off.the horn still blew.i opened up the engine compartment and tapped the fuse box/relays and the horn stopped.i've read online that multiple others have had this issue and i would like the nhtsa to investigate.this poses a significant safety risk for myself and those around me.also, the horn no longer works from the steering wheel when depressed.

I bought this vehicle as is in february of this year.the convertible top gets stuck in the up position and doesn't go back down.i cannot see otu of the rear view and obviously cannot operate the vehicle safely.i contacted a dealership and chrysler and both told me the recall had been addressed in 2008 (they llooked it up by vin).however, it obviously wasn't since the top is still sticking.they basically told me too bad.however, they were unable to tell me which dealership had marked it as a completed and repaired recall which is strange. I would like it fixed asap since i cannot operate the vehicle without being able to see out the rear windshield!it was in a parking lot when this happened.

My car cut off while driving, the windows wont go up or down my car will not un lock through the switch in the car or some times the key.

While driving the engine light came on, loss speed occurred, car felt like in was going to dye on the freeway. No acceleration power. Engine light flashing, throttle light flashing in red. Car has no pick up.i have called chryslerand was told no recall. I had it checked at local auto shop and code was p0035. Crank shaft sensor. Many customers have had this issue and no one not even chrysler can figure out the problem.

The windshield wipers started stuttering then stopped completely. When i move the control arm they will move a little at a time, then start to go really fast. I had to leave them on the fast mode or else i would not been able to drive the car. It was pouring out. Thankfully i got to work with no issues. I have replaced the wiper motor and the control arm to no avail, the dealer put in a new wiper kit to no avail. Now i need a new tipm module.!

My 2008 sebring had the electronic throttle control light come on.when this happened the vehicle immediately reduced itself to 2000 rpms.i could not accelerate beyond that threshold.if the vehicle came to a stop it would stall out completely.i have read several similar reports of this issue including it causing involuntary acceleration.

When making a left hand turn car quit running and turned off

Car shuts off while driving no power steering or brakes.

Sitting in traffic and engine began to overheat.pull into area to park and checked under hood to find that radiator fan was not working and a fuse was blown.replaced the fuse.drove home and the following week, car began to overheat again.replaced fuse and took it to mechanic where they determined that the fan motor wiring was fried and need to be replaced.no further problems.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle shook violently without warning. In addition, while driving at low speeds, the vehicle jerked forward and stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. While driving at various speeds, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear brakes and rotors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred monthly. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

While idling at a stop light in ocean city, new jersey, engine surged then stalled.the car was then driven two blocks to a corner sunoco station and while idling at the gas station, the car again surged and died.car was taken to atlantic chrysler, but service could not duplicate the problem and the computer did not reflect it.jan. 13, 2013, while driving in atlantic city, nj, car engine revved and stalled while stopped at a stop light.the car surged forward slightly before breaks halted forward progress of car, nearly hitting the car in front of me.this happened twice before getting the car home.during the same trip the dash board light activated indicating the convertible top was in operation.the light did not deactivate until the convertible top had actually been activated, taken down and replaced.i have read a number of similar reports to this one.this is a dangerous situation and has to have a fix by now.

As of sunday (7/20/08), i was driving and my engine cut off (no warning), power steering & breaks locked up....i lost control of my car. After my car came to a stop i attempted to re-start and it failed.i then placed the car in park, took the key out of the ignition, put it back in and the car cranked up.i drove it to the dealership monday (7/21/08) morning and got it back later the same day with zero help.they said nothing came up when they hooked it up to the computers.so if it happens again to let them know. That chrysler had no recalls or reported issues for this problem. I went on-line yesterday and learned a recall has been issued visiting other websites'including yours (recall number: 08v152000) and it's not posted on chrysler's website.i called chrysler to notify them that i have 2008 sebring and need to be included on this recall and that i hadn't received a notice.they said there was no recall and i'm out of luck.i then called the tallahassee, fl dealership back and told them all the information i found online and that i don't feel safe driving the vehicle and i don't want to end up as a statistic on the side of the rode.the dealership then said for me to bring the car back so they can look at it again.i'm currently driving a rental.

On may 20, 2017 driving on interstate 70-80 mph; red lightning bolt dash warning light came on. My car seemed to pull back and hesitate. It was driving as if it may cut off. I drove into right lane and dropped speed to about 55 mph. I did not stop because it was night and i am a senior woman driving alone on a route i'd never driven. The car would pulsate and run unsteady when idling a stops. I made it home, turned car back on and light went off.i went online and looked up the red light icon and it said "etc electronic throttle control. This is a serious problem. Now i'm afraid to drive the car; especially on the highways and interstates. On previous occasion on a highway doing 60 mph or so; car accelerated and would not slow up until it decided to. I had no control about 30- 40 seconds. Thank god i did not panic and did not crash. I reported to mechanic at dealership where i purchased car. They said they have no way of knowing what happened unless i happened again. Also, in march i hadmy car towed to the shop because it would not start. They had to correct wiring problem. Another problem, their is a ticking sound. Mechanic says its some kind of fan that cools the air coming into the car. It makes that ticking sound even if my car is parked and engine turned off.

Just like everyone else's complaint on the 2008 sebring.the electronic throttle control light comes on.the cars rpms rev high but the car won't even be going fast. The car will speed up on its own and jump while sitting at a red light.then once the light comes on and you cut the car off if you try to crank it back up it went cut on.this is ridiculous.i've almost wrecked quite a few times.nobody knows what's wrong and when you take it to the dealership they don't know either and they are all rude.and they charge you 100$ to diagnose it.if you don't know anything about vehicles you should def not work for chrysler and should not charge people for the diagnostic.

I have a 2008 sebring convertible..while driving.. The car's electronic throttle control light comes on and starts to lose power and will almost shut down..i am hearing about others with similar problems.. Pg 181 on owners' manual.. This makes it for a real dangerous situation if the engine shuts down.. I lose all steering and braking while driving at high speeds.. Especially on curvy roads..

First indication of an electrical problem occurred in jan of 2014, when a yr. Old battery failed. Dealership replaced free of charge. In august 2014, my passenger side low-beam headlight wentout, so i took it to dealership to replace the bulb. It didn't fix the problem. The dealership kept the car for 2 days and found there was an internal failure in the tipm driver, the bulb was bad. Bulb replaced, still not working, mechanic tested and traced wiring and connectors, all good. Mechanic found tipm has bad circuit for right headlight. Whole tipm has to be replaced at the cost of around $1000.after reading about the chrysler and dodge complaints online, concerning vehicles cutting off all power over 40 mph, and the filing of a class action lawsuit against chrysler llc by girard gibbs llp, november 1st, 2013, concerning thetipms having a known software glitch in chrysler and dodge vehicles, i'm convinced my car has the same problem. I contacted a chrysler representative, and she said there were no known recalls of the tipm, so she couldn't really help me out. I have to get this problem fixed, before it gets any worse and cuts off power to my engine in los angeles traffic, possibly causing a crash and multiple deaths. Please investigate this issue for all chrysler/dodge owners, 2007-present. There are multiple electrical failures caused by a software glitch in the tipm. The severity of this issue, makes it imperative that you need to investigate and get chrysler to issue a recall. Thank you

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible. The contact stated that the trunk bolt, lug nuts, springs and the metal area around the trunk were abnormally corroded. Additionally, the contact stated that when attempting to start the vehicle, the key would become stuck in the ignition. The contact also mentioned that the rear windows and the sub roof failed to open. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,489. Djr

I started the car and got a couple miles up the road and this lightning bolt came on so i looked it up and it said it was the electronic throttle control i have noticed the car accelerates and decelerates at different times and it seems to lose power while i'm driving is there a recall on this issue i just looked at all the complaints about this problem and it seems to me that there are way too many complaints about the same thing and the fix is costly but it sounds to me like chrysler knows about it and ignores it.

Without warning at time my car will stall at a stop ie sign or traffic signal other time it will be stopped at a light & without warning the rpm will spike to over 2k rpm & neary caused an accident several time. There is no know reason for this in relation to temp, humidity etc or how long its been driven.can it be that the flex fuel system is getting confused by the alcohol in the fuel?? also experience at time when filling gas tank it spits back & causes an overflow of fuel on side of car & ground??no matter how slow or fast its put in. All this has started in the last 5k miles please find a fix before it becomes a accident. Thanks

I was riding slow through my neighborhood about 15-20 miles per hour and the car just shut off, that was the first time! it had happened many times since then and also just like many others on here have stated, the car seem like it is about to shut off while im sitting at a light then all of a sudden it jumps forward almost causing me to rear end someone, that happens quite a bit or it shuts off while idling. Oddly no one knows why?? this car needs to be recalled before people start getting seriously hurt or die.

I was driving and with out warning a loud noise started. The car stopped on the city street and could not be moved.i was in the middle of traffic. This was an unsafe condition. The car was pushed to the curve out of the traffic..without warning the engine parts broke down. I had the car tolled to a station to get it fixed.i had to replaced the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, water pump, anti-freeze, serpentine belt, this cost $1,822.28.that was 09/28/2016.i had only 74,708 miles on the car, not 100,00.the check engine light kept coming on. On 11/07/16, at a chrysler dealer, i had a diagnosed test done. The tech found that the right cylinder head needs to be replaced. The car had only 75,209 miles. Not 100,00 miles.is this to soon for those parts to break down and need to be replaced? i always had my car check at the chrysler dealer for the check ups at the recormended time.i received no warning that any of these parts needed to be changed.no warning.the car just stopped.this is dangerous. There should be a recall on this car.i had just got off the beltway. I could had been killed. The replacement of the right rear cylinder head is going to cost around $5,000 dollars.i don't have that kind of money.this car should be recalled that without warning these parts will breck and stop the car from running.i brought this car brand new, not used, and i always took my car to chrysler company for the regular check upi have the repair invoice and the diagnois report, but i can't scan them.i can fax or mail you a copy.updated 03/15/17*lj

Car engine reeves up and car jumps forward at stops, or car wants to die. Took to pensacola fl. Chrysler dealer spent over $800 to fix. Still does it. Now engine is starting to knock. Frayed to take back. Cannot afford the assessment fees every time you take it in.

Car has no pick up.i have called chryslerand was told no recall. I had it checked at local auto shop and code was p0035. Crank shaft sensor. Many customers have had this issue and no one not even chrysler can figure out the problem.

My car shut down completely as i was driving, the steering wasn't working, i couldn't turn the wheels at all. The breaks would not work either, no matter how hard i pressed on the breaks the pedal would not move. Luckily i wasn't going fast or driving on the highway cause that would have killed me.

When stopped at a light with my foot on the brake, the engine sometimes races and the car lurches forward.engine rpms go up to about 4000, and shortly return to idle.this happens about once per month.this is a safety problem.i could hit the car in front of me or a pedestrian in a crosswalk.i will not let my wife drive this car because of this problem.i have had the fuel injectors cleaned but to no avail.

Rpms shot to 4k and 5kthen shut off while driving on interstate. Towed to dealer. Dealer replaced pcm and alternator. Afterwhich, intake manifold door position sensor sets a code - for sensor (no response) internal to intake manifold.check engine light still on.

I have a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible.the engine has begun stalling and surgingat red lights.the stalling has the potential to cause an accident, but the surging is much more dangerous.the engine will suddenly jump from idle to a couple thousand rpm.if you're not ready for it you can easily be pulled forward several feet, potentially into the path of an oncoming car.you have to apply excessive pressure on the brake pedal to prevent being pulled.the surges only last a few moments and then the engine returns to idle.i was looking for a fix and started searching the symptoms and found dozens of posts of people having exactly the same issue.most have tried several fixes for hundreds of dollars and still have the same dangerous condition.our car is at the dealer now, but at this point i do not know if they can solve the issue.judging from the posts i found this has been happening since at least 2007,and there are a lot of frustrated owners dealing with it.

Vehicle shuts off while driving.

Vehicle shuts off while driving it, 1st. Time i was going about 30mph it shut off without warning. Next time i was reversing in driveway and it just shut off. Both times put in park and restarted. Dealership tried to duplicate problem and put it on computer, but nothing shows up. It was a couple months in between episodes.

Ltr re repairing defective parts in their vehicle, unable to get any cooperation from dealership; seeking help from nhtsa.the consumer stated she doesn't want to drive around with recalled parts on her vehicle and there was also an odor which smelled like fire coming from the vehicle.

The 2008 chrysler sebring convertible that i had would just shut off on me when i was driving or if i was at a stop light. I was not hard on the car and i drove it regular. One day i was stopped in the middle of lunch hour traffic and the light was red, i went to push the gas and realized the car had shut off on me. It didn't seem like it stalled because if a car usually stalls it would shake or something. The car just turned off at the red light and when the light went green i couldn't go. I was stuck in the middle of traffic and had to have people go around me.i didn't know if i put the car in park i could go again. I didn't expect it to just shut off on me in the first place it was a newer car. It has happened more than once. I am just thankful one of the other times i was in a parking lot with my kids in the car.

Within 5 minutes of turning off and locking car, engine compartment was engulfed in flames.2008 sebring limited cconvertible with 11,800 miles.dealer service-lube/oil/filter- 7/25/08.

The motor surges when in park & while idling at a stop sign. It has happened many times, and i have almost slammed into a pedestrian because it catches me by surprise.iremoved the floor mat to ensure that is not the problem (it has happened 3 times since), and the last time it happened (last week) the car was in park, and the engineroared as if i was flooring the accelerator, on it's own.

Car stalls while driving.

Life threatening safety issue to my 2008 chrysler sebring convertible. Approx 2-3 mos ago while driving the engine cut off without any warning what so ever. 3 weeks ago (from 15jan09) this happened while on i-95. When this happens you can not steer or use brakes. The car coasted in the direction that is was steering in. This lead my car half in the grass and half in the middle of the lane. Again, no warning of anykind. This monday (12jan09) it happened while i had my kids in the car, i was about to turn when the engine shut down again. This was a reality check since my kids could have been injured (luckily no one was coming).i have taken my car to the dealership and twice they have run diagnostics, looked it over thoroughly, and driven the car twice without being able to duplicate the problem. Today they have told me they have talked to the chrysler engineers who stated they have heard of the problem but have no solution. I have found multiple complaints as mine off the internet dated as far back as april 2008. I have called chrysler's customer service number twice as well. This has been no help at all. Today, after telling them what was told to me by the technicians, they said they would forward my case on and i would here back from someone in two-four business days. In the meantime, i am to continue to drive my car.i just can not believe that chrysler would knowingly put someone in a life threatening situation.i don't know what to do but i need your help. In the meantime i am in a rental car that iampaying for and have to turn back in tomorrow (16jan09) when i pickup my sebring. I can not afford to pay for a rental car and make my car payment as well. Please help me!

I have two complaints.i was driving on a highway proceeding at approximately 55 miph and the car turned off.no warning, just dead. Second complaint:i filled up with gas.i proceeded to leave the station which involved exiting and turning onto a main highway.i tried to stop at the top of the exit driveway and i had no power brakes.i pushed hard on the brake pedal and the car stopped.

My 2008 chrysler sebring convertible stalls while driving. So far i have not been hit by a car following when my car engine stalls while driving in traffic but i have been lucky.

When headlights are put on the dash board instrument cluster (the three circles) does not illuminate.no visibility of instrument panel.this happens all times when putting headlights on, no matter if stationary or moving.

While driving the dashboard lightsflickered then went out, my convertible top has a malfunction and will not openand the door locks unlock and lock on their own.

When the outside temp is below 40 degrees and i fill my 2008 sebring convertible with gas, gasoline gushes and blows out of my car filler tube all over the place.i have talked to the chrysler dealer and they say there is no recall for this.however my 2008 dodge nitro had the exact same problem and there was a recall to fix it.i have video of this happening.

Gas spews from filler tube when filling gas tank up. Vehicle has approximately 15k miles.problem just started in the past two months. We thought the problem wa with the gas pump but upon paying closer attention have determined the gas is spewing from the filler tube during a fill up.

At 4055 miles car was brought into dealership for rotor issues, the car has been back to 3 different dealerships, more than 15 times, for brake light, window seal, power steering pump, transmission, stalling, fuel gauge, top issues, for mainly vibration issues at least 10 times, the car has approx. 26k miles and is on its third set of tires, the dealerships refuses to go beyond alignment, brakes, rotors, rims and tires, this time struts. This last time it has been at the dealership for more than a month, they have replaced all described and it still has an issue and they refuse to go beyond that and look into the tie rods or bushings.

Whenever i self fill or an attendant fills my vehicle with gasoline it spits back +/- 2 cups of gas after the pump shuts off even on the slowest fill speed. Gasoline spills all over the side of the vehicle, ground and anyone standing next to the vehicle. This is definitely a true safety hazard to owner and or gas station attendants having gasoline on their hands and clothes, and the environment from the escaped fumes, and definitely a potential for fire from pooled spilled gasoline on the ground. I have also heard from another individual with a 2008 sebring convertible having the same issue.

Jun'17 instrument panel lighting quit operation or intermittent.very difficult to drive at night.need flashlight to see dash.took to mechanic and he is aware of this issue on instrument panel printed circuit board on same vehicles.

The latch mechanism for the truck that controls the tip back and locking fails.it falls out of alignment and has to be replaced.my has been replaces three times since i have own this car in july 2007.

I have a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible (clothe top)in 2009 the latch and stryker forthe rear trunk had to be replaced. Trunk would not lock! this was covered under warranty... Now it is 2011 and once again the latch and stryker have broken! this is the 3rd one in 3 1/2 years!!! now i have no warranty and its been over 12 months so the parts have no warranty!i personally think the trunk is way too heavy with the convertible top(located inside upper deck) is causing the latch to break!

2008 sebring convertible shifter is stuck in park; the car cannot be moved. Dealer said it is a common problem with the brake shift interlock breaking.the entire shifter unit must be replaced; cost $150-$200 since the sebring is 3 months out of warranty.they said the part breaks on several current chrysler models all the time; a web search confirms it.a bright pink plastic piece breaks where a spring attaches to it, that allows the interlock to disengage when the brake is depressed. What if this common problem happens when you are in a remote location with no cell phone service?what if you needed your car for a medical emergency?

My 2008 chrysler convertible cloth top has been at the dealership service department for 3 weeks as of today.the trunk lid won't go down.the towing company would not even tow it because it would damage the car further.called chrysler and they said they had several complaints and that they were "tooling" the top.

My car was parked in my garage.i went to leave and the car would not come out of park.the car had to be towed to the dealer to be fixed.they stated that a part had broken.i could not even use the manual release to get it into drive.

Just imagine driving down the street at approximately 25-30mph and your hood flies up against the windshield.fortunately for me the person behind be was alert and did not plow into the rear of me.i phoned the insurance company immediately, and i was advised to take the car to a recommended collision center which repaired my car pretty quickly....too quickly i suppose because when i called the chrysler, llc office they special investigator said in error that there was nothing that they could do because the evidence was destroyed.he essentially said thatthere was nothing more that chrysler could do.they don't know why it happened but it seemed as if the latch was working perfectly now.well i now have a new hood but the same old latch.my major concern is that if you don't know why it happened to begin with how do you know that it is fixed.suppose that it is not the latches at all but something connected to the latches that made them both fail. No one is listening to me.i am now very fearful of driving my car which i mentioned to the chrysler special investigator and his recommendation to me was "if you are that afraid you ought to just trade it in and get something else"he said that they have done all and everything that they intend to do and he hung up the phone with me still talking.i just want this to go on record as a pretty serious problem; but know one is listening!

I purchased a new 2008 chrysler sebring hardtop convertible in october of 2007 and i am having problems with the convertible top and door locks.i took my vehicle to the shop several times regarding this matter and they are not able to satisfied me regarding my car.

Transmission does not shift from 3rd to 4th gear. Supposely dealership drove it over 25 miles never had the problem. I pick it up and drove it less then 5 miles and it does not shift.

24 hours of purchasing from original- sole owner of whom kept it very well, low mileage 28,000m & garaged. I drove it for the first gas fill-up and proceeded to restart, shift from p to drive. Locked up. Referred to manual in which i followed instructions for hidden reset button. To no avail, called local chrysler dealership. Their response "you get it here & we'll fix it!" totally frustrated~i did. Broken shifter has 2 little pink plastic guards holding it all together- really? one has broken but the whole shifter has to be replaced!! 3 1/2 hours later + $377.00 i drove away in hopes of being reimbursed by manufacturers to repay my friend footing this bill!!

Shift interlock switch failure disabled car after putting it in park.car was blocking a driveway, and interior had to be disassembled in order to manually actuate shift interlock and get the car out of park.chrysler refused to repair it until i called corporate.chrysler took a full week to repair, customer service was rude, unwilling.case manager was chantel, ref# [xxx] , phone # 1-800-247-9753. My wife drove her 2008 chrysler sebring to work yesterday, everything seemed to work fine. When she tried to drive home the car was stuck in park.after researching the problem online i took the trim ring off of the shifter area and found the pink piece of plastic on the left side of the shifter.with a long screw driver i was able to push the pink piece of plastic backward and could then move the shifter out of park.

Brake failure. First time it was raining driving down the highway put on brakes to slow down because it beganraining very hard brake locked up pedal was hard to push car spun out of control and almost sent me over the gaurd rail. Luckily gained control of the car thankfully there were no other cars in the lane next to me. On several occassions especially when wet i have no brakes, like it locks up or something . Abs light goes on and off. Replaced the brakes with life time warranty brakes. Abs sensors were checked and in place when brakes repaired. Had it checked at tires plus and just brakes both said nothing wrong with the brakes. This car scars me because i never know if i am going to have brakes or not or how to repair the problem or what the problem is.

On aug. 8, 2014, with in minutes of exiting the 135 frwy at the lake exit in pasadena, ca., and slowing to turn into a del taco, the breaks on our car "totally locked up!". The following day we had the car towed to alhambra chrysler dodge jeep ram. I was very detailed in what happened to the service manager. The result was a new computer to monitor and administer braking instructions to the vehicle. I almost left the dealership before i noticed no mention of the incident as i had originally described. This concerned me and i asked them if the remembered why i had the car towed in. Upon their acknowledgement, they updated my bill description to include the original reason my car was towed to their facility. I feel they were not as attentive to what could have been a terrible accident only minutes before and i have had several discussions as well as e-mail exchanges with chrysler as a result. My ultimate feeling is they are waiting for more of these incidents to occur before they do anything about it. I am worried not only for my wife and myself, but for anyone else who may find themselves in a similar situation but with the problem of being on a freeway.thank you.

Rented car with dangerous brakes system ( poor repair ).

When i applied the brakes pedal the car will come to a stop, but the steering wheel would shake. Took the car to a chrysler dealer. The technician said that the front rotor were warped, he recommend that they cut the rotor and that would fix the problem. It fix the problem, but after 6000 mile later the problem return. I replace the front rotor and the problem went away. It cost me $250. 00. This problem was not cover by the warranty.

Noticed around this date when making left hand turns going down hill in the parking garage that the suspension was making a groaning sound.took vehicle to several mechanics that found nothing wrong under inspection.finally took to new mechanic and found rack and pinion with front left side.

While driving on a highway at high-speed, all the electrical instruments began flashing on/off. The airbag light began flashing and a chime could be heard. This occurs intermittently (3-5 times per year) and chrysler cannot properly diagnose the problem. Convertible top gets stuck in the air and is undriveable.

Chrysler sebring hardtop covertible.i can activate the hardtop to raise or lower when in drive. This to me could be a big safety issue. If ii'm driving and some how this control is activated it'll cause an accident. It hasn't happen to me yet has it happen others?

My 2008 chrysler convertible cloth top has been at the dealership service department for 3 weeks as of today.the trunk lid won't go down.the towing company would not even tow it because it would damage the car further.called chrysler and they said they had several complaints and that they were "tooling" the top.

2008 chrysler sebring convertible top not working properly.top is getting stuck half way when lowering.took it to dealership and they would not repair.accused me of damaging and wanted to charge me $700 to repair.i refused to pay it and have not been able to use the top.lease is now up and i am afraid they are going to come after me for the cost.

I own a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible. During the process of lowering the retractable top,i reached into the trunk while standing next to the car to free an object (cardboard box)that i feared would encumber the operation or damage the top. The mechanism pinned my arm and i wedged my shoulder into the underside of the trunk lid to impede the travel of the lid so i could extricate my arm from the scissoring action of the top. Once i had my arm free, the mechanism had me pinned facedown while it continued to close. I braced myself against the force in anticipation of activating some sort of safety stop/reversal mechanism. I would estimate the downward force to be in excess of several hundred pounds per square inch since one of the guide pins created a 2 cm impression in my back about 2 inches from my spine. The top did finally stop and i was able to pry myself free. My concern is that had circumstances been slightly different, i could have been killed, paralyzed or had my right arm amputated above the elbow. A child, slight framed, or elderly person probably would have been crushed or killed. This mechanism exerts an extraordinary amount of pressure and will only stop when it encounters an object that it cannot cut or crush.

I have a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible limited with a cloth top.the top mechanism is defective as i just had to have the top repaired for the third time.it seems that each time one or another mechanism has failed.this is very unsafe as the top usually fails half way up and has to be towed in.i have been told that this is a frequent defect on these new cars.

I was in the process of entering a highway from a driveway. I hit the gas pedal and the car took off uncontrollably across the highway, across lanes of traffic, went up an embankment and then back down where the car shut off.i had not driven the car since the accident, but when i picked up the vehicle at the dealership where the convertible roof had been worked on, i noticed the electronic throttle indicator light was "on".this may the reason it accelerated uncontrollably.

The vehicle was taken into the dealer who informed the contact that the vehicle was operatingas designed and that he should expect some kind of leak. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 300. Updated 2/23/11 updated 12/06/2011 *ln

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible hardtop. The contact stated that the folding hardtop would leak abnormally and was out of alignment due to its constant movement to and from the trunk compartment. The vehicle was taken to the dealer nineteen times and they could not repair the leakage issue. The dealer attempted to duplicate the failure but to no avail. The manufacturer would not offer any assistance.the failure mileage was 8,400.the consumer stated the retractable hard top would not come up after being lowered. After waiting overnight it operated in a normal fashion. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the consumer was informed the problem was a voltage shortage and not an electrical problem. The dealer made the necessary repairs and informed the consumer the problem should be resolved.for two weeks, the top had not been lowered due to rainy weather. The first time the top was lowered, it became stuck in the half way down position. At which time the back half of the vehicle fell towards the ground, bending parts and forcing the mechanism and trunk to be severely out of alignment.according to another dealer, it was more likely caused by the other dealership adjusting the trunk too far away from the latch, which would not allow it to stay locked into place with the added pressure from the top going down.the dealer finally admitted they were unable to fix the problem. The consumer was informed a technical service bulletin had been issued for the mechanism problems. Chrysler agreed to take the vehicle back and replace it with a 2010 model.the consumer stated the 2010 model also leaked.the consumer believed the rubber pieces designed to block leaks from the quarter glass areas did not land in the same spot each time, which explained why the problem was intermittent.updated evoq 12/29/10

While retracting the convertible top, the top retracted into the trunk as usual, the trunk lid remained upright and would not go down.there was no response from the convertible top switch and the car could not be driven.

The convertible top would stop half way in the process of going down.we found that in the trunk there is a small plastic piece at the end of the compartment hinge that cradles the top was missing.we were able to buy a bolt metal piece similar to plastic and use weld glue to adhere it.secondly, that problem caused the plastic flap that is under the window in the interior to break which needed to be replaced and third, the interior roof panels came unglued exposing all the components that works the convertible top.we had to reglue and repair panel.

Noticed around this date when making left hand turns going down hill in the parking garage that the suspension was making a groaning sound.took vehicle to several mechanics that found nothing wrong under inspection.finally took to new mechanic and found rack and pinion with front left side.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle exhibited an abnormally loud noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the rack and pinion was broken and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who stated that they would contact her at a later date. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 57,507.

Front end knock felt through steering wheel after car warms up for 15 minutes. Car in motion or if you rock steering back and forth.

Tire pressure monitoring valve broke off while trying to remove valve cap to add air.this could have happened while driving as i barely touched the valve cap.this is the fourth one that has failed in this manner.the aluminum valve stems become brittle and fail easily.this is a defective part was on the left front tire.

When closing the top, i heard a pop sound and the roof stopped. It would no longer open or close but was stuck halfway open. The deck lid (a trim piece with plastic hinges) had broken affecting the top operation. It was repaired out of pocket in 2013. Now in 2015, the same piece broke again, again rendering the top inoperable. I contacted chrysler about the issue and was told there was nothing they could do. I live in pa and only use my top about 3-4 months out of a year (and limited at that since i have small children in the back seat daily) so this broken piece was not even used much before it broke for a second time.

My back lights work as long as the car is in park. But when i shift into drive they go off. I only know this because other drivers that was driving behind me told me so. I have been told it is tipm module. I do not have a $1000 for the repair so i only drive it in the day time

While driving the dashboard lightsflickered then went out, my convertible top has a malfunction and will not openand the door locks unlock and lock on their own.

Vehicle shuts off while driving.

My car has accelerated 3 different times when im at a complete stop on christmas day it accelerated and almost hit the car infront of me it doesn't do it everysingle time i drive but has happened more then once it has also shut off at complete stops several times the chrysler dealership gives me the run around and say nothing is wrong.

As i sat with foot on brake at stop sign, my car had sudden acceleration and moved forward. If a vehicle would have been in front of me, i would have hit it. After the acceleration, it stalled. This is the second day in a row this has happened. Both were with in a 24 hour period. It has happened in the past but at that time the car was in the park position and it would ""rev"" up for no reason.

Thanks

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler sebring conv. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the electronic throttle control warning lamp illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the electronic throttle converter was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 75,000.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate abnormally. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal but the vehicle would hesitate to accelerate. The throttle control warning light was also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technicians stated to the contact that theelectronic throttle control would have to be replaced. The dealer could not guarantee that the repair would resolve the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler sebring convertible. While stopped at a red light, the the contact depressed the accelerator pedal but the vehicle would not accelerate. The failure recured twice. In addition, when the brakes were applied the vehicle would hesitate to stop. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostics. The technicians were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired.the vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 6,000.

My windshield wipers just decide when they want to stop leaving me with zero visibility during a rainy commute.
