Takata recall.airbag warning light illuminates randomly and pings.i was told the problem was a sensor in the passenger seat belt and the cost to repair would be at least a couple hundred dollars.why won't the dealer fix this at the manufacturer's expense, since it appears to be a common complaint?
Passenger side air bag sensor goes off when passenger is sitting in vehicle.

Having issues with airbag/seatbelt light coming on & the dinging- pd. $98. 1st time, took back 2 more time, still not fixed, said warranty is up & does not cover electrical... They cannot find problem & seem not to be interested in trying.. Suggest i put new seatbelt in at my expense of $500. To me this is a driving hazard when u have this alarm going off every 20 sec, it can be a driving hazard.... 2007 pt cruiser - called chrysler & they will not work with me on this, is getting very frustrating when u buy a new car & have these kinds of problems.
While driving in michigan on us 23 in a 2007 pt cruiser standard. The vehicle approached a traffic jam and slowed to a stop. Then a bmw vehicle smashed into the rear of the pt cruiser at rates up to 80mph and the bmw driver never applied brakes during impact of vehicle. The pt cruiser then crashed into and totaled a honda accord. The air bags of the pt cruiser never deployed upon impact with the frontal vehicle. All passengers were wearing seatblelts which did save there lives. The back seat was jammed into the front seat where the passenger behind the driver received a broken forearm and almost had a amputated ankle from being caught under the driver seat. The of the passenger in the back seat received broken ribs and a heart attack from impacting the front seat. The passenger in the front broke all ribs and a broken back from hitting the dashboard and arm went into the windshield when the front seat was forced forward. The driver did hit her head on steering wheel and caused a base skull fracture and a broken left pelvic bone. Once again all where wearing seat belts which saved their lives but are unsure in why the airbags were never deployed on such a high rate impact which trapped and seriously injured all passengers inside. I do believe that the vehicle did stay intact enough and the seat belts worked well but the failure of airbags and the back seats slamming into the front seats to me does not seem like a car that received a 5 star crash test rating on rear collisions.
My husband was in his 2007 chrysler pt cruiser and was involved in a head on collision, during that accident the ankle air bag deployed and busted his whole ankle out and joint and he had to have a bone graft done and is now still having problems, he has an external fixator on his leg and this has been almost three months after the accident, the cars damage was only to the hood the interior of the car was all still intact and was not at all pushed in, in any way.
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact stated that the air bag and seat belt warning lights remained illuminated and made a beeping noise. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 146,000.
The drivers side airbag light had come on and when i brought it to the dealer they informed me that indeed the airbag was not communicating with the rear bumper and i would have to pay four hundred dollars for a new sensor. I was told that the good news was it won't deploy while driving but it won't deploy if it's in an accident. Yeah. The dealership refused to fix it and that it was my problem.
On 12/6/10, i was in my 2007 pt cruiser when i was involved in an accident.i was proceeding straight thru an intersection when a 1993 nissan altima turned left in front of me (was coming form direction opposite me), striking me dead center of my front bumper.the crash did the following resulting damage to my pt cruiser: radiator smashed, rad. Support broke, all wires on wiring harness cut (including the wire to the airbag sensor--the airbag did not deploy), hole busted into manifold, front bumper assembly torn off, hood bent/caused right-side passenger door to jam, broke starter completely off, and a multitude of other things.as a result of the severe damage, my pt cruiser was deemed unfixable and was totaled.this wreck occurred at a speed of less than 25 mph!what gets me is that if the speed had been any greater, my passenger and i would have been severely injured/possibly even fatally because of not having airbag protection.the mechanic at the body shop where my car was taken cab confirm this---i have copies of pictures that were taken of the car, along with a copy of the report that was submitted to the insurance companies involved.something need to be done about the location of the wiring harness/airbag sensor wire so that nothing severely happens to another driver.i will never, never ever have/purchase another chrysler product---this wiring harness problem needs to be fixed asap! there were no injuries, except for a sore knee (mine), which i did end up going to the hospital later when the pain in my muscles/tendons got to severe---no bones were broken---just sore for several days.
We own a 2007 pt cruiser, a 2007. This is the second pt cruiser that we have bought. My husband and his friend, who was driving at the time, had an accident on january 21, 2009. They swerved to keep from hitting a dog and they hit a guardrail almost head on and again the air bags did not deployed and the shoulder straps did not catch. This is the second time that this same thing has happened to us in a wreck with our pt cruisers. We owned a 2003 pt cruiser, i had a wreck on april 18, 2008, the air bags did not deploy, and the shoulder strap did not catch, as a result, it threw me forward and caused a bad injury to my left shoulder. I stopped at a red light and a car rear-ended me at approximately 50 mph. It threw me forward into the steering wheel and i injured my left shoulder where i had my hand resting on the steering wheel. I had to have surgery and i feel that this would not have happened if the shoulder strap had caught when the collision happened. I feel that this could be a bad problem with the pt cruisers. Have you had any other reports of this sort of problem?
Passenger side air bag red warning light keeps coming on and stays on while driving with no passenger
The contact owned a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. While driving approximately 30 mph, the driver lost control of the steering and crashed head on into a utility pole. The front driver's side air bag partially deployed and did not completely inflate. The driver sustained a bruised chest and injuries to the right hand and shoulder. Medical attention was received. The vehicle was destroyed and towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. Police report number: [xxx] was filed. Gary miller chrysler (5746 peach st, erie, pa) and the manufacturer were notified. The failure mileage was 54,000.('parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).')
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact stated the air bag warning indicator was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. On august 12,2016 at 12:37 pm while driving my said car a deer ran out in frount of me crossing the road. I avoided the deer and hit a tree head on the airbag light came on but the air bag did not deploy chrysler have been notified and my car was deemed a total lose. I was driving at approximately 30 miler per hour upon impact.
Air bags failed to deploy on a front end collision. Resulting in husband hitting head on steering wheel.husband is 6'6 and was wearing his seatbelt. Insurance agency and i have photos where the air bags did not deploy.
About a month ago, i was delivering for a pizza company on somewhat wet roads. The guy in front of me had non-functioning tail lights, so i did not see him breaking until it was too late. I hit my brakes and swerved to avoid him, went off the road down a 15-20 foot embankment, and hit a six to eight inch tree hard enough at 35 miles an hour to split it in half and have it fall on top of my car, and to bring me to a dead stop. Even with that force, the airbags did not go off. I had asked chrysler to look into it, but after three weeks, they basically told me that i did not hit the brakes hard enough because the rate of deceleration necessary to activate them was not present. I cannot believe that this is the only reason, or even the actual reason, they did not go off.
I had my 2007 pt cruiser for 6 months and the horn would stick and not turn off. The steering wheel and airbag were defective and replaced. My front brakes and rotors also had to be replaced at this time.
The horn does not work properly and is defected. It only works when the steering wheel turns to the left and sometimes it gets stuck and won't turn off. Won't work while traveling straight or turning right. The horn did not allow me to warn a driver that almost backed into me, this forced me to move away from him in an unsafe position and he still did not see me and kept on backing out. Had the horn worked it would have prevented this issue that almost cause an accident. I drove home to inspect the horn as to why it wasn't working is when i learned that it only worked while sitting still and turning the wheel to the left and at times it stuck and wouldn't turn off. I don't know how long it has been like this because i don't use it very often, until this particular incident happened. Also the passenger air bag shows to be off with air bag light on.
Passenger air bag stays illuminated and rings every 5 seconds even when a passenger is there or not.
Driving my vehicle on a highway, approaching the city, with cruise control on. Weather clear and sunny. Highway traffic was light. My speed was at around 70 mph. The driver apparently decided to exit the ramp as it was lined with vehicles. The driver pulled out of ramp and steered to left lane on highway, in front of me. I had to brake suddenly to avoid collision. My car suddenly skidded and spun around once, with rubber burning from tires. My vehicle nearly crashed against the rail as my car skidded for 2nd time to stop. No injuries or property damages. Inspected my car later at gas station. Did not detect any visualproblems. Could not figure out why my car skidded and spun around on highway.after the shopping trip, i drove home with no incidents. As i pulled in home, there was smoke coming out of under hood. My car was inspected by two mechanics, from separate time and location, and i was told my cooling fan broke. Possible that the incident leaded the fan to shut down due to mechanical error, the first mechanic said. Cost to replace the cooling fan and labor can run as high as $400. Also, the airbag light, on dashboard, stays on most of time.
The air bag light came on and the dealer would not work with me. They want to charge $550 dollars to fix the air bag. But said that it may be more to fix it as of march 9th 2015 many air bags have been reported to nhtsa fromchrysler corp. The whole car is a mess with many brake downs. The car was moving when it broke down.
The airbag light and chimes would come on whenever a passenger would sit in the front passenger seat. Codes b1b56 and b1b54 came up. The seatbelt buckle was faulty and needed to be replaced for $267.
I was in a car in september of 2007. I was driving a 2007 pt cruiser.i rearend a truck infront of me doing approximately 30-35mph.my safety belt didn't lock and my air bags did not deploy.needless to say my head hit full force into the steering wheel.road conditions where dry.it was just stop & go traffic bumper to bumper. I just didn't react fast enough.i was told that the sensor for the air bag was located in the center of interior dash console.
The contact owned a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact stated that the driver crashed into the driver side door of another vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The speed was unknown. The failure mileage was unavailable.
On us 23 in michigan, i was at a full stop. I was rear ended by a car driving at approximately 60-70 mph. The impact propelled me into the rear end of another car. Neither my airbag nor the passenger airbag deployed. There were four of us in the car. We have all sustained significant injuries.
I have a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser, that was not involved in a collision or any type of damaging incident however the occupant classification system in the passenger seat is now malfunctioning to the point where if anyone or anything is in the seat the airbag light in the instrument cluster turns on and the notification chime sounds. The dealer has estimated that $500 would be a good start to repairing the problem, which has not been completed yet.
Brakes failed on wet pavement and airbags didn't deploy.
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser.while driving, the air bag indicator light illuminated and never dimmed.the vehicle has been taken to the dealer four times, but they cannot determine the cause of the failure.the speed was unknown.the current mileage was 18,200 and failure mileage was 17,800
Good morning, this may not be an emergency, or a severe safety hazard, but...i found thatmy 2007 chrysler pt cruiser had an annoying flaw.when i had my headlights on with the driving lights, and i put on my turn signal, the headlight on that side would go out.since nothing else was affected, i chose to keep my driving lights off.however, i have noticed is that other chryslers (300, 200), a jeep cherokee, a chevy camaro, and a volkswagen do the same thing, but without the driving light being on.it is always when the turn signal is engaged while the headlights are on.i have only noticed this recently...i am not sure why, but i am beginning to see this a lot.on a dark, rainy night, that could eliminate a whole quadrant of light is a person is turning.there is an electrical issue with several different manufacturers.i am also going to contact other entities, but i think this is a real problem.thank you.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'
I bought a used 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. I have paid $900+ fortightening the underneath of the car. The back windows do not go down and the hatchback lock will not open. I would like to know if some of the recalls were not taken care of or if these repairs are covered. Thank you. Problems were there when i bought it., but i was unaware. Shifter is hard to get the button up to get the key out.
The multi function switch on the steering column just stops working.when this happens you lose head lights, tail lights, turn signals, windshield wipers, and windshield spray.the switch has been replaced twice now and the same problem keeps occurring.it either fails totally or works intermittently.you cannot drive the car at night or when it's raining - it's a major safety issue.
Back hatch comes open randomly on its own. Sitting still while off or on, driving down the road it doesn't matter, it triggers to open randomly.
This car kept over heating and after having the thermostat water pump and the entire fan unit replaced. Failing to find the source the head gasket blew.

Blinker works at times and not at others. Battery light came on while drivumg, got home now it won't start, battery has full charge but the starter is not cranking.
Came out one day and the left front turn signal was glowing. Will not blink or turn off even with the engine off. All others work fine, but the left rear blanks a little faster. I have changed: bulbs, fuses, sockets on this left front, but did not work.
Iwas driving and entering the expressway from an on ramp when my check engine light came on after i heard a ding sound. I tried to excellerate and could not go over 20 miles an hour with out the car sputtering as if it was not getting gas. I drove to the nearest off ramp and preceded to a dealership where i had an oil change done on the same car a month prior. I had bought the car used from carmax just 4 months ago and it only had 44,000.the tech said it was probably something minor. When he called to tell me what was wrong it was not minor. The cam and crank position sensors had gone out. At the tune of $491.00 to fix it. I called the operations manager at carmax and all he wanted to say was thank goodness i had bought the extended warranty so it would only be $300.00 for the deductible. I saw that there were others with this same problem. I have had more people tell me that these cars (pt cruisers) have many problems and that something is always going wrong with them. I wish i had never gotten this type of vechile now!!! i am stuck with this car because i cannot trade it in, i would be upside down. Hopefully i will not have the oil problems that all the others have had. If i had known they were built in mexico i would not have even thought about buying it.
While driving with my headlights and fog lights on, using my turn signal turns off my headlight on that side until the turn signal shuts off.i have also seen this in a chrysler 300, and a town and country.and, i have seen this in a chevy camaro and a vw.something is seriously wrong here!!!the date is only because you need a date.it is frequent,.
We were coming to a stop and there was a pop under the hood the entire vehicle shut off, and then started right back up since that incident our lights contiunously blink inside and outside the car and our radio has a mind of itsd own it works when it wants to...we have replaced the battery and the posts we have also replaced the alternator... We have had it tested several different times and nobody can seem to diagnose the problem...
The tipm (the computer that maintains the whole car) is bad and needs to be replaced in an almost 10 year old vehicle bought new in 2008 with only 25,000 miles on it. It is sending bad signals to the wipers so i cannot drive it in bad weather.although thre is a powertrain for life warranty, chrysler refuses to replace the tipm.i was driving inheavy morning traffic it was snowing and the wipers stuck in the middle of the car causing me to be unable to see posing a danger to myself and others. The car also stopped dead in traffic on me a couple of times and there was nothing wrong with the battery i took it to the shop and they found nothing.
We have a 2007in november 2007 the ignition switch fuse started to plow out once every 3 months. It got worse in august16, 2009 it would not stop blowing so we took it to larry miller dodge to have it check and they said it was the ignition switch and it melted some wire under the dashboard.had it all replacedand drove around for a few days started doing it again. I took it back and they hooked it up to there machine and didn't find anything wrong so i left it they told me that it needed to do it in front of them and it did started blowing the ignition fuse right there i left the car with them and the next day they told me it stopped doing it a day later it did it again so i called the main office of larry miller and they told me they would look into it to stay by the phone and they would call me on what to do i did.2 months later went by and i called them and they said that the guy that was helping me got fired and that they closed the case i have been calling them about every day about this and they said it is my problem not theirs. And now the cooling fan is not working there is something wrong with the electrical system with this car. I am afraid to drive it because i have a little boy with me and am worried something is going to catch fire.
I am frequently experiencing the following problem which includes the check engine light coming on, the car not wanted to accelerate, feeling like the car is going to stall while driving down the road. One time it did stall in traffic however, it started right back up. The check engine light does go out. I have taken it to several car places and no one has been able to diagnose the problem. This is a serious problem as i am afraid to drive the car. It has happened at varying speeds and weather conditions, from 20 - 60 miles per hour, local road to highways, warm days, cool days and everything in between. It is hard to predict when this will happen but is an issue that should be addressed before something serious happens and people are injured.
I drive a 2007 t cruiser and have on and off again issues with my center dashboard lights coming on and gauges going up and down.engine almost stalls in heavy traffic.this has happened several times and the mechanics cannot find any issues with wiring, grounding, battery, alternator, switches, etc.happens at any time.will be fine for a short period of time and then it will start to do it again.this takes place sitting still and in heavy traffic.chrysler better take note and figure this out or they will have a huge lawsuit like what is going on with gm.many people with the same complaints; how is it no one is concerned?scared to drive my vehicle.
2007 pt cruiser,55000 miles. Burst into intense flames while parked in front of a store. Fire investigators declared that it was an electrical short that started fire. This car was totaled, product defect division of chrysler responded that there is no chrysler defect covered with their extended warranty or certified used car warranty. However fire marshall's report states that there was a defective wiring harness which caused the fire. If chrysler is not responsible for defective wiring in their certified and guaranteed cars, then who is?*ln
Totally integrated power module (tipm) is not turning on the low speed fan resulting in overheating of a/c coolant which in turn increases pressure in a/c system and total evacuation of system coolant, a real environmental problem. The increase in operating temperature also increases load on engine cooling system and threatens total engine failure. Ma 10/2the consumer stated the vehicle had not been repaired because it was too expensive. Updated 12/28/2015
Our pt cruiser has approx. 63,000 miles on it.as you're driving our car, all of a sudden all the engine lights come on and the gauges go down and the engine shuts off. When you pull over and restart the car it starts and this may happen again further down the road or may not happen again for a few weeks. This happens both on city streets and on the highway. This has been happening more and more frequently and for over a year. The last time i was in for maintenance it happened just as i pulled into the dealership, yet when the code scan was used no problems were indicated. This is extremely dangerous. Someone is going to get killed on the highway if that hasn't happened already. Since we have no other vehicle we must use this car.i have been asking online if any other cruiser owners are having this problem. There are many people having the same problem but no one has been forthcoming with a solution. I also noted some cruiser owners are talking about starting a class action suit against chrysler. I really don't want to go that route if i don't have to. I just want my cruiser fixed.
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser.while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning.the vehicle was towed to a repair shop and the mechanic stated that the battery failed.the manufacturer failed to install a protective plate on the battery; therefore, fluid penetrated the computer wiring harness and caused the vehicle to shut off.the manufacturer will be notified.the current and failure mileages were 50,000.

Chrysler pt cruiser 70000 miles.service done regularly.changed battery for the first time 5 months ago.a few days before the radio was flickering off and on.did think much of it until one day just before arriving home, the dashboard indicators all flickered off an on.parked the vehicle, restarted, but the indicator light stays on.vehicle is only driven less than 10 miles a day.happens more often.tipm module was replaced at dealer 5 years ago, when power windows were not working.
My pt cruiser when driving it all gauges shut down the come right back on car is still running and its not safe to drive with not being to tell how fast your going some times it dose it 3 times some times it goes off 40 times.
I was driving on the freeway when the engine light came on (which it never had before), and within less than a minute the car ceased up, lost power and died. I was able to make it to the side of the freeway as it started puttering before ceasing completely. This incident has happened at least four more times since original date.i had the motor tested at the auto body shop and the said the cam sensor needs checked but the engine is burning my oil up and since this happened and has had to have oil put in 3 times since then in order to make it run when it stops. Just last month i spent over 500.00 replacing the radiator and power steering lines which i was informed was part of a recall on this vehicle but was not covered since it didn't apply to my vin #. I am scared because i have children i drive with and because i cannot afford to keep repairing this vehicle, which is my only means of transportation. The vehicle was paid for in cash in full and has no recourse from the dealer or so i was told.

At idle my 2007 pt cruiser had a chirping noise. The serpentine and alternator drive belts had to be replaced. As well as the power steering pump.
The check engine light went on and code po456 was on. I had to replace the gas cap as there was a leak. I have had to replace the gas cap two times because of leaks.
2007 chrysler pt cruiser conv. Has 85,300 miles on odometer. Car developed a severe engine oil leak problem. Investigation by me revealed a well known manufacturing defect with the 2.4l engine. Complete oil loss can happen very quickly and seizethe engine resulting in a sudden stop in traffic. A dangerous event if traveling on ahigh speed road. Repair can cost up to $6000 for an engine replacement even if it does not seize. Chrysler acknowledges the defect in tsb # 09-001-13 / nhtsa # 10128948 but no recall has been issued.

The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle overheated with the temperature gauge reading hot. The vehicle was taken to i-10 chrysler dodge jeep ram (79200 varner rd, indio, ca 92203) and was informed that the cooling fan was defective. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics where the cooling fan assembly, module, high and low speed relays, the thermostat, cooling fan, radiator cap and coolant were all replaced however, the failure persisted. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, several warning lights illuminated on and off and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted and resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to crystal chrysler dodge jeep ram (36444 auto park dr, cathedral city, ca 92234) where the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact reached out to manufacturer and left a message however, the contact had not heard back form the manufacturer. The failure mileage was unknown.
I have had my 2007 pt cruiser to the dealer for a vibration in the engine. They of course heard nothing and recommended a tune up which i had had done the previous month. I took it somewhere else and had to have the motor mounts and transmission mount replaced. I had the timing belt replaced as they had to remove the engine at this time and tried to save money. The mechanic adjusted everything to the correct specifications and the vibration continues to this day.
Cannot get gas to go into the gas tank, fuel nozzle shuts off every second or so, takes about 30 minutes to fill the tank.

My 2007 pt cruiser with 17,340 miles (yes, that's correct), started leaking a good amount of oil. Researched and found this to be a common problem with some folks getting stranded on highway when car dropped all of its oil, brought to dealer. The invoice states the following: "customer states vehicle is leaking oil. Verified the concern. Found oil leaking from cam and crank seals. Disassembled engine to replace seals, and found excessive crank shaft end play, causing the crankshaft seal to push out. Inspected motor, found broken thrust washers and damage to the crankshaft. Replace the engine and recheck, no more oil leaks."and that's what they did...total cost, including tax was $6,055. This was not an easy decision. Checking online, i found it to be a common problem. Based on what i read, i asked dealer to replace with a short block. Said they are no longer made. Car is only worth about 6k but there's no way i could afford a new car. This way i do have a 3 yr warranty on the new engine.

My 2007 ptcruiser has had a vibration for two years in the engine. It is ok in park, but when in drive and idle the car vibrates horribly. It is worse with the a/c running and i live in az. No one can fix it. I've replaced the motor mounts in 2011and had everythigadjusted. I have replaced the main motor mount againin 2012 as it was crushed again, but the vibration continues. I spent $1500 to replace the last motor mount inaddition to the previous years cost of replacement. I've done tune ups, replaced belts, fluid flushes, oil changes all following the guidelines. I've been told repeatedly that the pt cruiser just has this vibration and no one can fix it. It's the car. All the mechanics hate this car. I have spent thousands of dollars on this car since i bought it and due to income, i can no longer afford to do the repair work for a problem that never gets fixed. This car is a piece of crap and i will never buy a chrysler product again. They couldn't pay me to get one.
A/c not cooling. Fan needed to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact stated that the crankshaft front oil seal was blowing and spilling oil while driving 10 mph. The oil warning light started to illuminate. The vehicle was merged to the shoulder and the contact had to add more oil to the vehicle. A year prior to the failure, the seal was found to be fractured and the vehicle was taken to a mechanic who replaced the crankshaft front oil seal. The manufacturer was notified who offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 58,000 and the current mileage was 68,000. Updated 10/15/12 the consumer stated the vehicle was taken to a shop for the third time. The crankshaft exhaust bearing failedwhich caused the crankshaft to move forward destroying the oil pump. The oil pump then knocked out the crank seal dumping all the engine oil in minutes. The oil covered windshield of drivers behind the consumer, as well as the rear windshield of the consumer.updated 10/23/2012
I noticed a sudden oil leak.i immediately had it checked to be told it was the front crank shaft and front seal needed to be replaced.my research showed it to be so common a problem in the pt cruiser.repair cost up to $1300.00.and problem would likely re-occur. Has not been repaired .

I purchased my new 2007 pt cruiser from hayes chrysler dodge jeep, inc. In lawrenceville, ga on january 27, 2007, with 32 miles on car.i was instructed to drive the car and return in three weeks for a new car check and list my concerns regarding the car.at this time in informed the service staff that the car did not accelerate when entering the freeway and passing other cars. The service staff returned my car to me indicating that they could not find any problems with the car.a few months later the car check engine light came on.again the service staff told me they did not find any problem with the car.my check engine light came on several time after my initial return each time the service staff did not find any problem. Each service visit i informed the service staff that the car still did not accelerate. On a routine oil change i spoke to a new service staff employee, told him of my concern and dissatisfaction with the car. After waiting for over an hour, i was told that they had finally found the problem (69k plus miles, 3 years later) the engine had misfired cylinders. I was told that apparently all this time the computer in the car and the engine were disfunctional and didn't communicate. The service staff attempt to fix what i would call a defectiveparts. After the fix the car still did not perform. About three weeks ago the repair failed. My check engine light came on and i was told that what was fix had broken.i was also told by the chrysler corp. Engine trouble should be discovered during a routine oil change. It was not in my case.it took three years of routine oil changes before they discovered the problem with the defective engine in my car. I feel hayes & chrysler corp should be responsible for the re-repair. Can you help or advise where i can seek assistance. Thank you

Bought 2007 pt cruiser with 00003 miles at12 months of use and 13000 mi engine had to be dismantled, camshaft was pushing seals out faulty engine assembly , these cars were manufactured in mexico and built cheaply, oil dipstick was dry no oil lamp ever came on found the problem by the puddle of oil on driveway, could of blown engine while driving on highway.
After getting out of my car and noticing a oil leak on the driveway, i took it to my mechanic and he diagnosed it as a failed front crank seal. Vehicle is maintained with normal maintenance and oil changes ever 3000 miles. It only has slightly over 47000 miles and a major mechanical problem.. Well, i contacted chrysler customer care and they cant help.. I had it repaired and absorbed the full cost myself..then as of this weekend 12/27/13i had the same problem again...called chrysler and they won't help at all i'm reading about this being a pretty common problem with the 2.4 engines isn't it time we hold out manufactures responsible??? to at least absorb some of the cost for parts failing way too soon in their expected life...if this would have happened on a long trip i might have been in much worse shape...vehicle was 4 quarts low when i finally alerted there was another leak.
Thrust bearing failed and crankshaft was badly ground on thrust surface. Thrust bearing set only had thrust bearing surface on upper half.5 weeks after this repair the seal failed again. Mechanic replaced the seal at no charge but could not warranty as he has no idea why it failed. Contacted chrysler and they considered a refunding our original repair cost but then denied. I have all corresponded with chrysler, the mechanic as well as the crankshaft and bearing pieces.
1)massive oil leak. From front crankshaft seal being pushed out2)chrysler 2.4 have (inner company memo)star 3)remove engine measure crankshaft endplay then replace with short block.
I was leaving a shopping plaza when i drive over, a huge pothole in the right lane i using to leave for home. In my 2007 pt cruiser. Which in turn damage my radiator, radiator support beam , the bottom of bumper and grill, and i was just inform to that the head gasket is needing a replace it as well.

Upon acceleration between 0 and 30 mph there is a feel of the engine missing or the transmission/torque converter chattering.have had the vehicle to the dealer two times and they advise there is nothing abnormal occurring in the vehicle that it is a characteristic problem in the vehicle.
While driving a chrysler pt cruiser, the engine light went on. The car started to jump and quick and short spurts of stalling, while on the roads. Problem occurs off and on since.
My 2007 chrysler pt cruiser is consuming two quarts of oil a day.it started using this amount of oil once the car reached a mileage of 40,000.the pt cruiser is currently unable to travel on the interstate.i am only able to drive through the city; where it will barely get up to twenty mph.the current mileage as of 8/28/10 is 52,736 and i received the car with 36,000 miles earlier this year.
On december 24, 2007 i took my 2007 pt cruiser, that is only 6 months old, to firestone to be checked on cause i noticed i was leaking oil. They proceeded to take my car put it on the lift and noticed it was leaking dramatically. They then told me that i had major engine trouble and needed to have it checked out. I went to sears auto center i pulled in front within 10 minutes all the oil in the car was on the ground. I had them look at it and they said my car has major engine trouble. I had my car towed to the dealership which i bought it. On december 26. 2007 i got a phone call saying they had to order the small block for the car because a bearing in the crankshaft went and blew the bottom half of the engine out and it would cost about $6,000 to fix. He also told me the part would be in friday december 28, 2007 but he had no idea whenit would get done because of the amount of work that needed done. I then contacted chrysler because i feel unsafe in a car that no warning lights come on and that needed major engine repair within the first six months. After it's fixed i'm worried it is going to happen again. They advised me i could trade it in for something else but i would have to carry the balanced owed over. The dealership didn't want to give me much for it. I called chrysler financial and they advised me to contact my attorney general's office to see about a lemon law or a buy back because a car that is only 6 months old should need work that extensive. I then contacted chryslerto see if they could just replace the car because of the amount of damage was done. They then advised me they would send the dealership all the paper work that is needed to document the damage and for me to contact the attorney general's office to see if the company is required to buy back this vehicle that needed this extensive work done to it.
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser.the contact stated that there was too much end ply on the crankshaft of her engine.as a result, the seal on the engine is separating and causes oil to spill, which could lead to a fire.the dealer was aware of the issue, but the vehicle was 20,000 miles out of warranty; therefore, they refused to repair the issue.the failure began on may 9, 2009 and the engine blew out a few days later.the failure mileage was 56,000.
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser.while driving at an unknown speed, the contact heard a loud noise coming from the vehicle.the dealer stated that the rear main oil seal failed and caused all of the oil to leak out of the engine.there was no warning indicator illuminated to notify the contact of the failure.the dealer repaired the vehicle.the failure mileage was 22,000. The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact stated that the check engine warning lamp was illuminated and smoke began emitting from under the hood area. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the crank shaft seal failed. The vehicle was repaired and the next day, the contact experienced an abnormal oil leak. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who advised that there was excessive movement in the crank shaft which caused the seal to be pushed outward.the manufacturer was contacted who stated that there were no recalls for the failure but they decided to extend a goodwill warranty that would cover the replacement of the engine block. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 69,100.
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. She added eleven quarts of oil in her vehicle due to a an unidentifiable leak. The dealer stated that it could be leaking; however, they could not see the leak or explain if the oil was burning rapidly in the vehicle. The mechanic is currently replacing the short block in the engine. The vin is not available. The failure mileage was 24,000.
Dealer looked at the oil leak and the tech informed me the front crankshaft seal was leaking and that there was a lot of play with the crank. Seems this is a common issue with the 2.4 liter motor that chrysler has ignored to report a recall. There is numerous complaints about this problem on the internet.chrysler has known it has an engine flaw and refuses to correct their mistake.i understand replacing the seal won't fix the problem because of the play with the crank shaft, the seal will start leaking again.an owner with a pt cruiser under warranty reported that chrysler replaced the seal several times without fixing the problem.if the crank has to much play, it's possible that the crank has eaten into the block. The short block may need to be replaced as well. Not cheap by any means. I contacted chrysler and they stated that because of the mileage they would not offer any financial assistance.this car has been taken care of and looks brand new.the engine should go another 100,000 miles.this is a lemon engine!
2007 chrysler pt cruiser about 63,300 miles. Consumes about 4 quarts about every 2500 miles.i have noticed this since i purchased the vehicle in 2008.it seems to be increasing with mileage. I have found that there is really no point in changing the oil because i replace all of it before the 3000 so i am just replacing the filter.
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact stated that the oil light illuminated and when she checked the oil levelthere was no oil in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the oil was pouring out of the crank shaft and that the engine was shaking and spinning, as a result the front seal was destroyed. The dealer also stated that the long engine block had to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 47,000.

The a/c pressure switch does not work and i have just research it on line and their are thousands of people with the same problem, claiming that theirs broke when the car reached between 37,000 to 40,000 miles. The part is on backorder from chrysler indefinite and according to the internet and just about all car parts dealer, you can' get it anywhere in the world. This is ridiculous! some people live in 102 degree weather with asthmatic children. Is there anything that can be done? chrysler should be held responsible for thisespecially that my car is only 2 years old (2007).
I have seen this with several makes and models - all chrysler products.when i have my headlights and "fog" lights on, turning on my turn signal makes the headlight on that side go out.when the turn signal goes off, the headlight comes back on.i have seen this in a jeep compass and a chrysler 300, also.i believe that this is a major problem.
The lock on the back gate will randomly disengage. This causes the interior dome light to come on and drain the battery. I find that it mainly happens when closing the doors with all the windows rolled up. If a window is down, it does not happen as often.
Came out one day and the left front turn signal was glowing. Will not blink or turn off even with the engine off. All others work fine, but the left rear blanks a little faster. I have changed: bulbs, fuses, sockets on this left front, but did not work.
Hazard lights began to flicker on and off intermittently about 6 months ago.car has been taken to dealer at 4 times to check this.no theft deterrent alarm intermittently sounds for no reason.we have asked the dealer to replace alarm module but they refuse saying there is nothing wrong with car.
- the contact stated that the tail lights on his 2007 chevrolet aveo do not come on automatically as do the headlights.the vehicle has approximately 400 miles. The contact stated this could be a safety issue if he forgets to turn on the lights at night.the contact stated he has spoken with the dealer and he is waiting for a response.

A few weeks ago my check oil gas light came on, and so my husband checked my oil(my car only has 22000 miles on it) and when he checked it there wasn't any oil in the car, it was very low.it barley read on the dip stick.after changing my oil, my check oil came on again after 500 miles.again there wasn't much oil.i took it into the dealership, they said they would mark my oil pan and plug and look at my car every 1000 miles to document on how much oil i am using.they didn't do anything else.i haven't really gotten anywhere with this oil situation.i drive about 26 miles one way to work on major interstate, and i am afraid to get stranded...

I accelerated to get up to highway speed and the gas pedal stuck going 65mph. I put both feet on the brake at full pressure and the car kept accelerating. I put into neutral and braked, then pull the e-brake and pulled over to the shoulder of the highway. Very dangerous, scary malfunction - the mechanic says the accelerator throttle and cable are broken. A search of the internet shows other people have had this happen in different years and models of pt cruisers.
Blinker works at times and not at others. Battery light came on while drivumg, got home now it won't start, battery has full charge but the starter is not cranking.
Cannot get gas to go into the gas tank, fuel nozzle shuts off every second or so, takes about 30 minutes to fill the tank.

The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. While driving at unknown speeds and attempting to shift, the shift lever failed to engage into gear without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the gear shift lever was loose and needed to be tightened. The vehicle was repaired, but several years later, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 30,000.
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the clutch was engaged and the transmission would not shift into any gear. The engine was turned off and then restarted in order for the vehicle to resume normally. The failure occurred when the temperatures exceeded 90 degrees. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who stated that the clutch would need to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to an independent auto shop for a second opinion. The technician replaced the slave cylinder and master clutch. The failure recurred and the contact replaced both parts himself. Most recent, the failure occurred for the third time and the vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.
It stalls and won't go over 40mph.
Without warning, the engine turns off and all power is lost.the ignition switch does not move.once the care is stopped, you have to turn the key to the off position and then turn it back on.when put on the dealer's computer, the computer only says "there was a sudden loss of power."dealer suggests putting in a new ignition but does not guarantee this will fix the problem.the car can no longer be trusted on the highway or interstate.i can only drive it in town at slow speeds so i won't cause a crash if it suddenly dies on me.
As with the other identical complaints, regarding manual transmission shifting and, when the temperature is above 80 degrees shifting gears becomes very difficult and at times impossible. The problem occurred years ago and has always been there. It's as if the bushings in the shift mechanism expand when heated and the shifter sticks in its current gear; with great force you can knock it out and with great force you can re-engage. The next morning at 50 degrees the shifter works properly once again. Later in the day above 80 degrees the problem re-occurs; this happens every time the temperature is above 80 degrees. The resulting hazard leaves you stuck in traffic unable to shift gears, which in turn makes you a hazard to other drivers. I have had two near miss (rear end) collisions as a result. Chrysler stopped production of the manual transmission pt two years before discontinuing the automatic pt. This is a known problem by the manufacturer and they should have issued a recall. Chrysler did not and as a result i'm sure the other affected customers did as i have done and walked away from the brand. I've purchased 4 vehicles since that time and they were certainly not a chrysler product. The latter is costing chrysler more than the $300 it would have cost to change the bushings to a type that is not affected by heat.
Front crank case seal failed due to thrust bearing for crank shaft.
I was driving down the interstate at 65 mph and i started to hear this very low wine.i took my car into the dealership and they said it was my clutch.i had a 1200 clutch replacement done at approx 56000 and now at 101000 i am having an issue with the clutch not going into gear when its hot outside or the ac is on.my car works perfectly in the winter and early morning hours but once it reaches 85 degrees outside i am having to force it into gear.no car should have 3 clutches in less that 5 years.
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser.while driving 45 mph, the gear slipped.the failure occurred on january 19, 2007 at 1,443 and on june 28, 2007 at 4,404 miles, july 16, 2007 at 4,838 miles and again on september 7, 2007 at 6,306 miles.on both occasions, the vehicle slipped gears, lunged forward, and then became stuck in first gear.the vehicle was towed twice to the dealer and a computer adjustment was made.on two other occasions, the vehicle slipped gears, lunged forward, and then went back to the correct gear.the contact stated that the vehicle also revs.the vehicle is currently parked at her residence.the dealer has been unable to duplicate the failure.the current mileage was 6,301 and failure mileage was 1,443. I purchased a 2007 pt cruiser with zero miles on it in december 2007,from lithia 5504 l st, omaha nebraska. I traded a 2006 jeep commander for it to economize. After 4500 miles the clutch went out, they fixed it under factory warranty. The horn on the car sticks and wont stop honking. On my way to work one morning i heard a "bink" on my front windshield and then there was a crack about 18 inches long on the front window, not a pit, but an actual crack. I called and ask who was the glass manufacturer, and was told the glass wasn't a part of the warranty. I felt there was something wrong as i had never seen glass crack, in the manner this glass did. I asked who is the owner of the dealership, and no one would reveal. I asked where the car was manufactured, and had to contact the chrysler company, found out the car was manufactured in mexico. There are recent news reports of substandard materials being placed in vehicles in mexico. Today, while car was sitting in my driveway at approximately 82 degrees, the back passenger window just exploded. I took photos and called the dealer, and spoke with a manager who states "did it shatter into millions of pieces and i replied yes it did. He states that is how "temper windows work when they get heated." i inquired if the windows were covered under my warranty and was told to bring it over and have a service manager look at the window. A younger kid told me immediately it wasn't covered, and i told him there is something wrong with the glass in this car. I don't feel safe in this car. What if my family would have been in this car, and the windows exploded into pieces.i need someone to sample the glass and determine what type of glass is in this car. There is a defect in the glass of this car most car windows will pit, but not crack. I don't feel safe in this car where the glass easily explodes in my driveway, or cracks like an egg shell. I feel this vehicle is a hazard if the windows easily break as explained.
Pt cruiser hydraulic clutch not working properly in hot weather.dealer tries to replace entire clutch and says they will not do anything else until they do the $1400 clutch job. Problem lies in either slave cylinder or improper bleeding at factory and at dealer on mine when they changed clutch, shifter cables, transmission and slave cylinder and still does it.problems makes it almost impossible to shift into 1st and 2nd gear when hot.works in early morning or cold weather.
2007 chrysler t cruiser.clutch fails to disengage resulting in driver being unable to shift gears on the manual transmission and resulting in difficulty in stopping the car.this problem is a result of the pressure plate failing and is not covered by the power train warranty even though pressure plate failure is almost unheard of in most cars.most owners are unaware of the actual cause and try repairing the hydraulic portion of the clutch system.this appears to be a fairly common problem in the pt cruiser when one checks on the internet and should possibly result in a recall of these vehicles.
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact stated that the air bag and seat belt warning lights remained illuminated and made a beeping noise. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 146,000.
The airbag light and chimes would come on whenever a passenger would sit in the front passenger seat. Codes b1b56 and b1b54 came up. The seatbelt buckle was faulty and needed to be replaced for $267.
Having issues with airbag/seatbelt light coming on & the dinging- pd. $98. 1st time, took back 2 more time, still not fixed, said warranty is up & does not cover electrical... They cannot find problem & seem not to be interested in trying.. Suggest i put new seatbelt in at my expense of $500. To me this is a driving hazard when u have this alarm going off every 20 sec, it can be a driving hazard.... 2007 pt cruiser - called chrysler & they will not work with me on this, is getting very frustrating when u buy a new car & have these kinds of problems.
Sliding rail brokeon drivers side.the seat completely moved out of position while driving.the part that is needed is said to be discontinued.i could have been in a serious accident
The seat started moving up and did not stop until it was at the highest point making it difficult to drive due to reaching the pedals and legs jammed up against the steering wheel.
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser.the contact stated that the electric driver seat moves forward, while in and outside the vehicle.the failure has occurred approximately 200 times.currently, the seat moves every time the contact enters the vehicle.the vehicle has been to a dealer approximately six times, but they were unable to duplicate the failure.the current mileage was 6,211 and failure mileage was 10.updated 09/15/08 the dealer corrected the problem by installing an override toggle switch on the seat to cut off electricity to the seat when adjustment is not needed. Updated 09/17/08.
I was driving the car and the car started pulling and making a scraping noise, i took the car into chrysler and they did an oil change and said i'd need brakes and had worn shocks> i told them i thought that was unusual for a car with only 19k on it. I told them i wanted a second opinion, i took the car that day to midas, they confirmed the right break was shot and was the rotor but the rest were fine, and the shock was not worn but leaking. I called chrysler and told them they were mistaken and if they were doing there job they would have notice that a month earlier when the car was in there for tire rotation. The brakes were r fixed for 354.00and chrysler wanted me to send the receipt when they quickly denied. The car has a lifetime warranty on it, and i understand the 1yr etc on brakes..but if i drove the car normally it would have shown up,,and this was not wear (i kept the used parts) and the shocks not worn. I bought the car brand new and wondering ifit was damaged on the lot or something...
I had my 2007 pt cruiser for 6 months and the horn would stick and not turn off. The steering wheel and airbag were defective and replaced. My front brakes and rotors also had to be replaced at this time.
I was driving through town when i smelled something like rubber burning, saw smoke billowing out from passenger front side of car. I immediately pulled off of road, turned car off & looked to see what was causing this. No leaks of any kind.my mechanic is in the process of repairing my pt. The front passenger brake seized & burned up my caliper, rotor & brake pads. It was so hot, it literally melted parts. I came close to a major fire & it was a good thing i was not on a highway. I hope this does not happen again. I do not know if there were any recalls on this vehicle due to brake problems- but i would like to know as i feel this is a major safety issue.
The contact owned a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph in heavy traffic, the brake pedal was depressed to slow down however the brakes failed to stop the vehicle.as a result, the contact rear ended another vehicle. The contact sustained skin rash and mouth damage due to the substance that came out of the air bag upon deployment.the contact also sustained bruises and knee injuries that required medical attention. The front seat passenger sustained neck and back injuries that required medical attention.the driver from the other vehicle did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where the failure was diagnosed by an independent mechanic as the service brake tube failing and the ball joint was detached. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000. *dt

Steering wheel moves by itself in a jerking motion, while driving and at times will locks in place. It's like when i'm driving the car is making moves and sharp turns on its own. Also when i turn loud noises are coming from the motor. My cruiser is a 2007, i've owned it from brand new, still making payments!!!

The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver without warning due to the loss of power steering assist. The engine was turned off and after restarting, the vehicle resumed with the defect. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic three times. The first visit the steering belt and hose were replaced. In addition,a power steering fluid flush was performed. On the second and third visits, the steering belts were detached and reconnected. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The failure mileage and vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact was traveling 45 mph and exiting the highway from an off ramp. The steering wheel was turned, but the wheels on the vehicle remained straight. The failure caused the contact to continue traveling straight until crashing into a light post. The vehicle was towed by the contact's insurance company for inspection. Two passengers were injured. The failure was not inspected and it had not been determined as to why the wheels did not turn. The failure and the current mileages were 82,052.

I purchased my 2007 pt cruiser used in 2007/8 i have driven it and it is in need of bushings, tie rods and other things under the car. The motor is fine. I found out that this is a common thimg for the pt cruisers. I think it is a defect and should be investigated.

Informed, during a state required annual vehicle safety inspection that, after only 3 years and 37,000 miles, that the lower control arm bushings on the car are completely gone metal is rubbing metal. The wearing was not noticed by a chrysler dealer when i had a brake repair done 5 months ago. I feel this may have been intentional so that the repair would not be covered by the warranty. I was informed by the dealer that my warranty expired 1,000 miles ago and 10 days. I was also told that this is a common issue with the pt cruiser but was never issued a tsb or a recall.
The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact statedwhile the tires were being rotated the mechanic noticed the front control arm bushings were worn which could cause the wheel alignment to fail. The mechanic recommended having the bushings replaced and advised if they were not, it could potentially cause a crash. The failure mileage was 6,455 and the current was unknown.
My 2007 chrysler pt cruiser constantly loses air in the driver side rear tire. I have had 2 blown tires while driving both on the drivers side rear tire. I need air the drivers side rear tire every day.
Ignition- key would not release from the ignition. Car could turn on and off steering wheel would move the car was drivable however the key would not come out of the ignition the mechanic had to replace the whole part which was very costly in addition the key that was stuck we obviously could no longer use and it's very expensive to have the key with the alarm key chain replaced.
When the weather is hot and the air conditioner is on, the car will shudder when idling (not in park). The shuddering can get quite violent, and if i'm making a tight turn, switching gears, and making another tight turn the car will sometimes die. Thankfully, this hasn't happened in traffic, but i fear that it will. This has happened a few times since i've been driving this car

I am now afraid to drive my car. You will be driving along and it just quits. Time after time this has happened. I have read many complaints about this and am wondering why nothing is being done. I have taken it to a mechanic and they can find nothing wrong. It is very scary to be driving down the road and your car just stops. All the engine lights come on and it stops.it varies with speed sometimes it happens in a parking lot and sometimes on the freeway at 60mph. Very serious.
The back gate lock pops open but it doesn't come open it just clicks which makes thedome light go on and says gate ajar it does this randomly in motion or not i have no way of a picture taken or sending docum.
Car cuts off when driving on streets 10 to 40 miles per hour and missesand get sluggish as if it does not want to go or it will cut off a lot when driving on freeway at 60 miles or more.
The vehicle failed change gears.
The lock on the back gate will randomly disengage. This causes the interior dome light to come on and drain the battery. I find that it mainly happens when closing the doors.sometimes i don't know until i start driving and the "gate" light comes on and dings at me . . . Which means i have to pull over, get out of the car, and open & close the hatch again.

The contact owns a 2007 chrysler pt cruiser. The contact was driving 25 mph when the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle accelerated abnormally. The vehicle was taken to a local repair mechanic where it was confirmed that the throttle control switch needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 81,000 and the current mileage was 94,000.
2007 pt cruiser drivers side sliding sun visor fell off and won't go back on. Very flimsy construction and dangerous to drive without it on vehicle.
During a summer storm several years ago with changes in pressure my windshield cracked from the seam about 4 to 5 inches out from the passenger side. The vehicle was parked in a drive way. There is no damage as though it was hit. It was simply parked one night and the crack was visible the next day. Since then, it is almost 3/4 of the way to the driver side right at eye level. There is now a second crack following another storm with pressure changes, starting at the seam as well just above the rear view mirror that goes down 2 to 3 inches and then goes to the passenger side approximately 4 to 5 inches. I have contacted chrysler and they refuse to acknowledge this could be a manufacturing issue although research shows previous recalls on pt cruiser windshields for the same reason of improper installation.
