The 2008 chrysler pacifica simply stalls while in motion.all electrical systems, including airbags, are dead.this has happened at highway speeds, while stopped, and while accelerating.it has happened during very cold temperatures (below 0), high temperatures (above 90) and other temperatures in between.there does not seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why it happens, as when the car is pulled over and ignition turned to the off position, it can typically be restarted - though it appears that it takes multiple attempts to get that to work as the issue is getting worse instead of better.this is an issue that is not just isolated to the 2008 pacifica, but transcends models and years.if one searches chrysler pacifica stalling, one will find numerous other identical complaints and can quite easily discover that it covers other years and models.it is equally as unsafe as the gm recall.i have called chrysler personally and inquired out the issue only to be dismissed.in fact, their exact claim to me is that they were unaware that there was a problem despite me pointing out the numerous complaints i could discover in seconds.i believe that chrysler group is keenly aware of the problem and is simply hoping that it will go away due to the high cost of a recall.others have paid significant amounts to dealers to have items changed only to find that the issue is not resolved.in any case, this is a safety issue that needs to rectified immediately before someone (or a family in my case) gets injured or dies.please help me to keep my family safe when driving this car.

Driving in a parking lot, electrical system just shut down. This is a recurring problem, same as on other chrysler vehicles, however chrysler refuses to issue a recall for this vehicle. There have been other chronic problems with this make of vehicle, but chrysler refuses to address them with recalls. They just continue to ignore them, hoping the vehicle owner's will simply walk away from the vehicle. They have tried to get me to trade the vehicle in , numerous times.

The clock spring in the steering column failed causing the airbag and horn not to work. Clock spring is no longer manufactured or found in chryslers inventory.the part was never produced by an after market company. Dealer has tried to find it in junk yards with no luck after 3.5 months.chrysler is relatively silent on helping to correct or replace the vehicle. Vehicle is owned by a consumer with multiple sclerosis and without the vehicle has lost her independence.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacifica. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the air bag and stability control warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the cruise control and horn failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The technician informed the contact that the clock spring needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired because the needed part was no longer being produced. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

The airbag light in the dashboard blinks once in a while. This is issue started around august 2019.

I have been having power shut down every day, around 5 times a day. I have taken the car to the dealer and other certified mechanics, and the scanner can not diagnose, or detect any code.in my last issue, the car turn off while i was driving it. It was scary, and it is happening very often. I have changed most parts, all sensor has been replaced (replaced by original parts), and it keeps turning off.i have been searching thought the internet, and this particular car has a lot of complaining, a lot of chrysler pacifica are having this same issue, while they feel frustrated.this is a life risk issue. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Vehicle shuts completely off during drive at least twice per day.dealer claims they are unable to duplicate problem.this happens at both high and low speeds.oil light turns on and all power is lost.problem existed on 2006 model but dealership claims issue was resolved and will not consider symptoms for the 2008 model.they kept my vehicle for four days and claimed the problem never surfaced.i was charged $100 and before the day ended, the fault occurred twice on the interstate.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacifica. The contact stated that the fuel gauge malfunctioned on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new circuit board. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Car kept stalling and then would not start. The lights and alarms went off and on without any reason. Had it flatbedded to the shop - good thing we weren't able to drive it. The mechanic said that the ignition unit broke. This would have been a serious situation if it happened while on the highway...the ignition was replaced, with a used ignition so we are very worried. Odd lights kick on, the transmission/engine jumps for reason. It may be the awd is failing too. Mileage was around 80,000 at the time and use of the vehicle has been normal with no towing or other heavy use.

Any time i wash my car, somehow i think water goes in to the sensors. After the carwash if i try to start it, the light flicker on and off and it refuses to start. Even when it rains, the water makes its way into the sensors and it does not start. It makes noise like when there are electric shocks. There has been occasions in which it does not detect the key and does not start.

While driving vehicle in public park, engine stalled and began to smoke with white smoke.vehicle cut off and all electrical functions stopped.upon examination looks as if the wiring bundle just in front of fan had melted together and stopped battery charging completely.vehicle will not hold a charge.

Vehicle shuts completely off during drive at least twice per day. Mechanic was unable to duplicate problem. This happens at both high and low speeds around town and on the highway. Oil light turns on and all power is lost. Struggle to steer or apply brakes once it shuts down.this began over a year ago and has gotten worse as the time has gone by.

Motor mounts & cradle rot are known pervasive issues with 2008 pacificas (& other years). There is no inspection or maintenance required per the maint. Booklet nor shown anywhere so dealers never inspect them thereby leaving unsuspecting owners/drivers in a potentially dangerous crash situation. My bad motor mounts weren't noticed until 101k miles & cost $1,200 to replace. The dealer stated it was a serious safety issue at that point so a mandatory repair. In just 12 short months, they required replacement again. I now have no confidence in the safety of the motor mounts after having had (3) sets in 116k miles (original + 2 replcmts).

The 2008 chrysler pacifica simply stalls while in motion. All electrical systems, including airbags, are dead. This has happened at highway speeds, while stopped, and while accelerating. It has happened during very cold temperatures (below 0), high temperatures (above 90) and other temperatures in between. A very loud knocking noise happened a few weeks ago and has gotten worse. I've been looking around to see if anyone else has had this problem and have found out that they have. This is a very bad safety issue that chrysler needs to take care of without any expense from the consumers. This are finances being taking from my family that need not to happen.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacifica. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power while driving 75 mph. The vehicle constantly stalled. In addition, the front driver and passenger side windows failed to go up and down. The contact had to maneuver the electric control panel on the driver side to get the windows to go up. The vehicle overheated several times without warning. The contact had to tow the vehicle more than once due to the failures. The vehicle was taken to repair shops where the motor and ignition housing were replaced. In addition, the vent controls did not function properly for the air conditioner. The contact continued to stall and overheat. The battery was replaced twice by a mechanic, but the failures recurred. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic who replaced the motor, radiator, cooling fan, and another battery. The contact traded in the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was not available.

Gas gauge showed 1/3 full & it suddenly dropped to empty. "milesto empty" went from 142 to 14, then 6.upon starting the car the next morning, fuel gauge showed 1/3 full then dropped to empty again. "miles to empty" showed 2.i drove 8 miles then added 14 gallons of gas to fill the 23 gallon tank.it has happened at least 5 times since then.one mechanic told me i had to bring it in when it was happening as it was a sensor issue.another told me the car actually has two gas tanks & the fuel pump vacuum was probably not picking up the fuel from the second tank properly.he said the dealership fixed a 2005 pacifica with the same issue.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the stabilization and antibrake warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the sensor for the steering angle, brakes, and airbag stabilization needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000, and the current mileage was 68,000. Updated 8/11/14 updated 8/29/2017

I just purchased my 08 pacifica on 2-10-16. Today as i was driving the electrical system started to malfunction. First it started with the heater not working to the car stalling in the middle of the highway. I have five kids so for me to be stranded on a busy highway with children is very scary. 1 wk ago wheels diagnosed to bent alloys and o2 sensor is jacked up too. Rust is also present im just worried about safety.

The engine would not start.battery and connections were checked.the starter motor and solenoid assembly was replaced.the starter attempts to engage but will not turn the engine.after research i found chrysler has offered a recall for several 2008/09 model cars and vans for defective ignition switches.the safety hazard is great if the electrical portion would fail while the car was in motion.

It seems i am not alone, my 2008 pacifica occasionally loses power, the electrical system shuts off, then quickly turns back on.this has happened for the past 6 months, no mechanics can find a problem because when the engine shuts off it clears the car computer.it is happening more frequently now.could this be an ignition switch issue like the chevy?

My car will unexpectedly stall out while driving thus creating a serious safety hazard. This has been happening intermittently for the past 8 months. I have had a local chrysler dealership check and they think it's the pcm or fuel pump as had been reported in other model years. They reset the pcm but this did not repair the problem. Chrysler has recalled other models from 2004 and 2006 for this issue but will not aknowledge responsibility for the 2008 model. The car is currently being used in brussels, belgium as i am working for the department of defense there. I contacted the europe chrysler customer care but the representative said she had no knowledge of any relevant recalls past or present. I have sent an email to them (copy to nhtsa) again requesting financial coverage for the necessary repairs and i await their response. What are my options now?

My pacifica stalled and lost power while driving. I was so scared. I have kids and this is very unsafe. I was able to coast to a stop safely but if there was a car in front of me i would have hit it...this is a recurrent issue with this vehicle. I see complaints all the time and i am now added to the list. I'm so worried for anyone who owns this vehicle. This car needs to be recalled because people pay their hard earned money for a safe reliable vehicle... If something happens to anyone chrysler will have to answer for it...

I was driving and the car just turned of on me in the middle of the intersection. Luckily as soon as i realized that it had turned off i was able to clear the intersection and pull to the far right before the light turned green to oncoming traffic. I had the car towed home and the next day i had a personal mechanic come take a look at it and found out that i needed to replace my ignition system. After hundreds of dollars later the car turns on but it has so many malfunctions with the electrical system, struts, axle, motor mounts and frame that this vehicle is just dangerous to drive and needs to be recalled altogether.

We have replaced the motor mounts around 50,000, we replaced the engine at 66,000, and i was driving it today and my steering locked up on me. We have issues with the lights, and just had the timing chain and water pump replaced. I recently just put around $6,000. All issues happened while the car was in motion on a city street.

The vehicle's charging system includes a heavy gauge wire which runs from the alternator feed post to the starter wiring harness, which then charges the vehicle, as the starter wiring harness then runs directly to the battery.none of this wiring appears to have a circuit breaker or fuse inline.this particular wire which runs between the alternator and the starter is routed through several bundles of other wires, and makes a hard bend in one location where a bundle is secured to the frame.this wire forced itself out of the bundle, and then abraded itself against the frame until it finally made contact with the copper therein and short circuited.considering there is no breaker or fuse in this circuit, and the wire appears to be about a 6 gauge, it shorted until it melted, finally breaking the circuit.the approximately ten inch section of this wire between the short and the starter appeared to have started on fire for a short time.luckily, this small fire extinguished before any other flammable components under the hood also caught fire.from what i have read, others with this particular automobile with the 4.0l engine have not been so lucky.pictures can be furnished upon request.

My 2008 4.0l limited has had the battery replaced five times & currently needs a sixth replacement (so (7) bad batteries incl the one the car came with). The 1st went bad around 20k miles & none has lasted more than 25k miles. Car has also had a persistent 'hard to start' condition for years & (5) diff dealers have been unable to diagnose the root cause of the batteries going bad or the hard to start condition. I've opened (2) chrysler cases in the past 21 mos.; the 1st when the current battery was just 3 mos old & again during the 24 mo. Part warranty. Chrysler has refused to investigate & address the problem nor pay for battery replcmts. Dealers will not honor the 24 mo. Part warranty simple because it passes the charge test, despite visible evidence of a bulge & battery acid leaking all over the battery tray, terminals & cable. This is a serious safety concern given the vehicle has shut down at a high rate of speed (3) times nearly resulting in serious crashes. The nhtsa should take action given the # of reports of stalling/shut on this vehicle.

I am having trouble starting my 08 pacific. I get a message that says "invalid key & fob" and then car dies when trying to start my vehicle with the original key. As a temporary solution, i found a sequence online (chrysler's forum) to get the vehicle to started and stay running but that is very annoying. I'm the original owner and i should not have to deal with this issue. After researching online, i learned that this has been a recurring issue with this vehicle for multiple year groups. Until now, i would have expected chrysler to address this issue long ago. This is a serious safety concern for this type of family vehicle because in order to get the vehicle started, during extreme hot or cold temperatures, children are in the car while you have to all wait until the system re-associates itself with the key and this take 3-5 minutes; this is with the original key i may add. This is absolutely ridiculous and as a consumer/original owner i should not be left to foot the bill for any repairs on this malfunction that is wide spread. I hope that this is taken serious because as i active duty service member, i should not have to accept being ignored.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the esp and traction control sensor lights would suddenly illuminate before the vehicle would shut off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Also, the contact indicated that while operating the vehicle the head lights would suddenly shut off. The light bulbs were replaced but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that a computer module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,000.

1. There wasn't any events leading up to this failure, no accidents, etc 2. The failure is the motor mounts, engine lifts up when going forward) can cause deadly accident, engine coming out falling or flying out car sound louder than usual when going forward and when starting up. This can cause a deadly accident/serious because the engine can fall or fly out of the car. I have not gotten the car fixed. Just found out what the problem was 2 days ago. Was told to see if there was a recall because motors mount should not be bad after 2 years. Thank you.

Engine cradle is extremely rusted for the year and mileage of the car. Would not pass state inspection last week. Passenger side and mid section of engine cradle rusted enough that you could put your fingers thru it. Readin online this seems to be a major problem with these cars. This appears to be the only rust on the vehicle.

I bought this car from the original owner in 2009 with 38k miles on it.since then, i have had to replace the engine mount three times!recently , the car has been overheating while driving with smoke coming from under the hood.at first,i had some hoses replaced. The mechanic has now advised that it needs a radiator replacement.i have called around and dealerships say that it is hard to get to the radiator on this car due to its design, so the cost is $1600.at this point, i am afraid to drive the car.i have read through these complaints and chrysler has known about the engine mount problems with this car since at least 2011, and still no recall!several other people have also experienced the overheating issue. I am baffled because chrysler has just brought out a new version of this car for 2016, without addressing any of the known problems with the original version of the car!

Abs warning light comes on and then vehicle shuts-down while driving causing steering to be lost etc. Owners manual mentions this as normal habit and you must put vehicle in park and wait a few minutes to restart. This is dangerous while driving to have vehicle just stop operations.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacifica. While on an incline, the vehicle stalled without warning and rolled back into traffic. The contact managed to avoid a crash. The failure occurred several times. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was ineligible for any warranty repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.

On the night of july 3, 2013 i began to hear a slight rattle while driving. The noise could only be heard while the car was moving. I drove the vehicle for approx. 25 minutes and the noise maintained for most of the ride. The next morning the noise was much louder and could be heard even while the vehicle sat idle. I checked my oil and transmission fluid as well as my coolant and all levels were at normal. This was the 4th of july and i could not find a mechanic open. I drove the vehicle to work for approx. 25 minutes then back home again. The noise did not worsen or improve. I checked the oil level once i returned home last night and it was low. I added 2 quarts and did not drive until this morning. The noise remained so i took it to a mechanic who has informed that the engine needs replacing. The mechanic said that the rod bearing is causing the rattle/knocking sound and that eventually the loose bearing will wear into the crank shaft and my engine will not work anymore. I have been informed that the only option is engine replacement. The vehicle has less than 68,000 miles on it and has been cared for. I have been informed that chrysler is aware of issues such as these and has in previous cases assisted with the cost of repair. I will be contacting chrysler following this complaint.

While the vehicle was in motion towards an intersection, it lost power.i had to switch off all accessories, shifted gear to park and re-started the engine.yesterday night, the vehicle stopped in motion by a toll gate, a truck was behind me and fortunately, by the toll gate, everyone slowed down.these are serious issues that chrysler need to act on.no one should have to suffer any more loss(es) before chrysler acts.

While driving, sometimes without warning, the car loses power(engine shuts off) the radio, heater/ac still work butno power from the engine. Sometimes the wheel and brakes lock up and i can barely get it off the road. Other times, i can pop it into neutral while driving and restart it. It's very scary and i have 3 kids in the car with me daily. It happens at random times, whether i just pull out or have driven several miles. It has happened driving slow and at faster speeds. It has been looked at by a certified chrysler dealer.they drove it until it happened to them and don't know what is causing it. This happens at least once, sometimes twice everyday.

Engine stalls while driving.

Engine stalls at any given time.there is no engine light for a problem, there is no error code.can't steer, have to restart car, and rev to get it started.

Vehicle purchased new jan 08, currently has 21,000 miles, while driving approx. 30 mph, all power was lost, car stalled without warning.able to restart and drive approx 300 feet, car shut down second time.towed to dealership, where for the past several days they have been unable to replicate problem.all power steering was lost.we have lost all peace of mind.terrified to drive car in traffic.long list of similar complaints can be found on internet on previous pacifica models.

The motor mounts on this vehicle are defective and have to be replaced every few months.

My 2008 chrysler pacifica has stalled three times while driving at speeds under 40mph. The vehicle gives no warning that it will stop running before it happens. When it stalls the steering wheel locks and so does the brakes. I have brought it to a chrysler dealer each time.they continual install updates and reboot the vehicle's computer to no avail. Personally i feel unsafe driving this vehicle since it dies on the road with no warning.

Purchased a 2008 chrysler pacifica with approximately 32k miles on it. The car was "certified" by chrysler. At approximately 44k miles the engine would bang when shifting out of park to reverse or drive. According to the dealer the engine mounts were torn and needed to be replaced. I was told engine mounts are not covered under warranty because it's considered normal wear and tear and it would be around $700 to fix. I reviewed the chrysler owner's manual and there is nothing that mentions motor mounts needing inspection for wear and tear. The standard items are listed such as oil, tires, filters, belts, fluid etc. If motor mounts are subject to normal wear and tear shouldn't they be listed so an owner can have them inspected? the certification checklist also didn't include an inspection of the engine mounts. Chrysler doesn't offer any information on the motor mounts in their warranty, certification inspection or owner's manual. After further research i've found numerous websites with other pacifica owners having the same exact problem with the motor mounts. Failing motor mounts appear to be a factory defect chrysler is ignoring.

2008 chrysler pacifia, all wd, touring edition, purchased, may 20, 2008 with 30 miles on vehicle - from showroom floor - cash payment - $33,000.00 +......no warning!!!(1st time)june 18, 2008, while driving, engine died, loss of power steering & brakes. (near 1300 miles) approx 1/8 miles from entering route 80 (major highway) --nearly caused a major accident. Car refused to stay started and then nothing!!2nd time - august 7, 2008, (approx 3000 miles) exact same thing!!! almost to route 80...and almost another accident, due to no brakes and steering. Both times the car has been towed to motorworld, wilkes-barre, pa.1st time they replaced a harness that was rubbing, thought the problem was solved - until last week it happens again. All testing is showing nothing is wrong. To date motorworld still has my car.......chryslar & motorworld are refusing a loaner car - and or the replacement of the vehicle.. Who will be responsible if i have an accident - i hope it is not fatal.....chrysler corp extremely nasty and making no progress with motorworld. In the meantime i have no vehicle and need to get back and fourth to my job which is 50 miles each way.

Thank you.

At exactly 70000 miles while entering a highway on ramp the car stalled for no apparent reason. Brought it to dealer and they found no problem. Since then it has stalled numerous times while driving almost causing accidents as this car has no steering or lights. I have brought it back to another dealer three times and they can not find a problem either.

The contact stated there was a loud, unusual noise heard from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where the contact was informed that the motor mount was defective and would need to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired. The contact had not spoken with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was approximately 68,780 and the current mileage was approximately 68,800.

2008 chrysler with 12,100 miles on odometer experienced a second breakdown for the same lower radiator hose failure.original nhtsa complaint odi number 10286512.lower radiator hose originally failed at 6,200 miles due to hose rubbing against engine, causing hose to burst.hose was replaced under warranty in october 2009.in january 2010, at approximately 12,100 miles, lower radiator burst again, for same reason.chrysler dealership indicated that replacement hose was also installed incorrectly, and that hose was found to be rubbing against fan shroud, causing failure.this is now second repair/replacement for same hose in 12,000 miles (7 months).

Relatively new suv (2008 chrysler pacifica) with approximately 6,000 miles experienced a breakdown caused by the engine overheating on interstate 95 in maine while on a trip.after being towed to a local chrysler dealer, it was determined that the lower radiator hose had failed due to probable incorrect installation at time of manufacture.the radiator hose was found to have a hole in it which caused the loss of coolant and subsequent overheating.this hole apparently was caused by the hose rubbing up against a part of the engine, causing it to wear and brake prematurely.

Driving vehicle down the road and vehicle started to smoke under the hood. Pulled car over and the entire engine area under hood became engulfed in flames. Fire department came and extinguished fire after about 20 minutes. Vehicle is a total loss.

Car will not take gas.gas pump between tanks is not working properly to move the fuel from one side to the other, causing you to run out of gas frequently.it also is causing the mileage/computer/gas gauge to indicate you have a half tank and then immediately drop to e and run out. This seems to be an issue with the mercedes designed fuel tank and should be recalled and replaced with a standard design. When on e your car will not take gas.initially i was told to idle at the pump for 2-5 minutes...now at 10 minutes, my car will not take gas and takes about 20-30 minutes to try to fill it.very frustrated.

Fuel gauge shows inaccurate reading. I filled the tank halfway and after driving for 30 minutes or so the gauge drops to an 1/8 tank while driving. After i shut it off for a few minutes it will go back up sometimes higher sometimes lower. It's happening more frequently. I have small children and would hate for it to leave my wife and children stranded in the middle of nowhere.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacifica. While operating the vehicle with the fuel tank half full, the fuel gauge indicator suddenly decreased to empty. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump was faulty. The fuel pump was replaced, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 76,000.

Gas gauge reads 1/2 full and slowly declines till it hits about 1/3 full then drops to empty. If you don't get gas you will run out in minutes. I took it in and they replaced the sending unit and on the way home it did the same thing. Chrysler needs to help us on this one. I'm stuck with a city car that i need to use on long distances.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacifica. The contact stated that while refueling, fuel spewed from the vehicle. The contact also stated that the fuel gauge displayed incorrect fuel levels. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was found that the fuel tank had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 201,000. The vin was unavailable.

Sudden, uncontrolled acceleration, when put into drive from park.dealer unable to find a defect.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacifica. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and lost power. Also, the esp warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was placed in neutral and restarted. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (junction auto in chardon, ohio, 440-285-5700) for diagnostic testing, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was made awareof the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

When driving the car on streets the car will just shut down. No steering power ,brakes is so hard and no system!!! it always seem to happen as i'm going around a corner or a curb .today 8/18/2015 really upset me, because it shut off as i turned a curb and i almost slammed into a fire hydrant.starting the car up i have to put it in neutral .20% of the time the car will start in drive 80% in neutral . We have took it to dealerships chrysler and drivetime and no answers . What's so sick about it is the car is almost payed off..i love the car,but i am surely not ready to loose my life or my 4children and wife in this car,but what can you do when you can't afford to buy another .we could trade it ,but i would never want to hurt another family!!!

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacifica. The contacted stated that while driving various speeds, thetransmission jerked without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic three times where the motor mount was replaced on each visit but to no avail. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacifica.the contact stated that the vehicle jerked violently and the gears slipped.the vehicle was repaired by an independent mechanic on several occasions, but the failure recurred.the front motor mount was replaced three times and the isolator was replaced once.the vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic who stated that the isolator and front motor mounts needed to be replaced again.the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 06v432000 (power train).the manufacturer was notified and the vehicle was not repaired.the approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacifica. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph the vehicle began to shake abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that they could not find a failure. The vehicle was then taken to a local mechanic for a second diagnosis. The mechanic stated that there was a leak in the transmission. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was not under warranty. The failure mileage was 22,000 and the current mileage was 78,000.

The gearshift sticks in park position and does not release. Upon investigation there is a small plastic lever with a spring attached to it that has become broken. Upon review this has occurred the number of times with the chrysler vehicle.

Noise coming from 2008 model year pacifica transmission is not being covered under the lifetime powertrain warranty because chrysler says rusted engine cradle is too fragile for them to access the transmission. As rusted out engine cradles are an ongoing documented problem for chrysler pacifica models, yet chrysler is effectively voiding my lifetime powertrain warranty unless i agree to pay over $5000 for a new engine cradle.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacifica. While traveling 35 mph, the vehicle suddenly downshifted without warning. Moments later the contact noticed the vehicle would suddenly surge forward abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and the failure mileage was 70,000. Updated 06/01/12

The failure mileage was 120,000. The current mileage was 125,000.

You could actually feel the bump in the steering wheel at initial acceleration as the motor mounts continued to get worse.generated a very metallic noise in the transmission as well.motor mounts had to be replaced.it's hard to tell what residual effects this will have on the vehicle since this has affected the overall alignment of the transmission, steering etc.i've spoken with other owners this has happened to. Apparently, this has been going on since the inception of the car model, 04-05.

The driver's seat is loose. We have brought the vehicle to the dealership a few times, and they could not get it any tighter. It will rock slightly back and forth while seated.

The front drivers seat is loose. It will rock slightly when starting or stopping. The dealership has tried to get it tight, but cannot do any more.

We just purchased a 2008 chrysler pacifica. The electric driver's seat positioning module, located on the driver's door, failed while i was driving on the highway, moving the seat uncontrollably forward, crushing me against the steering wheel and dash so that it was difficult to steer or to place my foot on the brake. It was snowing heavily and i could not immediately pull off the highway. Had i crashed at that time, the air bag would have injured or killed me, since my chest was trapped tightly against the steering wheel. I would also have been trapped against the steering wheel and could not have exited. After about 30 seconds in the forward position, the seat moved backward, then continued to move backward and forward randomly. It was unresponsive to the switch. At times it would move all the way back and then all the way forward. Eventually i was able to leave the highway at a rest stop and remove the fuse that controlled the seat. The seat was in the rear position at the time, so the car was drivable. Had the seat been unresponsive in the forward position, i could not have gotten out of the car.

Abs warning light comes on and then vehicle shuts-down while driving causing steering to be lost etc. Owners manual mentions this as normal habit and you must put vehicle in park and wait a few minutes to restart. This is dangerous while driving to have vehicle just stop operations.

A bolt came out at low speed that would not allow the vehicle to roll.after searching, it was found to be a "knuckle bolt" on the front, left side of car.it appears to be a bolt that holds the steering system to the front, left rotor and wheel.it was not a caliper bolt.it was a very large bolt that is necessary for the car to move.it caused the part of the car that holds the brake pads to jam into the inside of the tire rim, thus not allowing the car to move. At high speeds, this could be deadly.

Vehicle did not stop when heavy braking required to avoid crashing into the rear of a vehicle stopped at an intersection.vehicle was stopped then proceeded slowly forward and required heavy braking due to a sudden stop of vehicle ahead.with full force applied to the brake peddle, vehicle seemed to release braking and accelerate forward until stopped by colliding into other vehicle.passengers thought driver pressed on accelerator and looked at drivers foot on brake peddle applying full force and steering to the left in an attempt to steer clear.

Engine stalls at any given time.there is no engine light for a problem, there is no error code.can't steer, have to restart car, and rev to get it started.

Temporary loss of power steering when going through a puddle or any mass of water on the road.due to rain, was taking children to the bus stop.gravel driveway had a few small puddles (not even ankle deep).lost power steering.this has happened previously, but it was a rather large puddle at an intersection - that took up the entire turn lane.

2008 chrysler pacifica- 20 days old- not even made first paymentthe car leaked water after raining(under the car) the water soaked the passenger side front and back floor, ruining carpets. I had to call corporate chrysler to get the carpets replaced. There is some kind of broken seal under the car. They still have the car and everything has not been disclosed to me as of yet.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler pacific. The contact stated that the motor mounts became fractured. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and was not advisedthat the motor mounts were not under warranty. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 60,978.

Accelerated engine frame corrosion:the front sub-frame(engine support cradle) is corroded so badly, the powertrain creates excessive engine vibration, incorrect shifting, vehicle flex, and excessive engine travel. The vehicle is no longer safe for highway use. In addition to steering and suspension related safety liability, the engine/powertrain is known to 'drop' out of the vehicle at any time while vehicle is in motion. If this should occur at highway speed, there would be a total loss of vehicle control and it is very likely that serious or fatal injuries could ensue.this is a known issue affecting all years/packages of vehicle manufacture for the chrysler pacifica, regardless of actual date of production. A single prior recall addressing the issue was initiated in 2010 for a very narrow selected production date range(02/23/14 ' 03/31/04) well after the vehicle left production(2008). This afflicted subframe part was not altered during manufacture to correct the issue/defect during its production run.chrysler employees acknowledge the corrosion prevention process/coatings used were not sufficient to prevent accelerated corrosion of the assembly. Chrysler will refuse to address those seriously affected.once the issue was found (in my case one year ago), the vehicle was taken to a dealer representative. While the dealer wants to resolve the concern for the consumer, the corporate directive declines the repair as not required.of note: this is unrelated to standard rust corrosion issues associated with typical automobile aging. My vehicle always been garaged and has minimal corrosion issues anywhere else on the vehicle.documented examples of issue:http://www.chryslerproblems.com/trends/cradle-rot/http://www.theindychannel.com/news/call-6-investigators/chrysler-corrosion-car-owners-want-answers-on-corrosion-problem

Vehicle repair refused by aaa mechanic because of extensive frame rot, noises as frame flexes while being driven.

Motor mounts rusted out & needed to be replaced (100k miles) even though these do not require any type of maintenance according to the maintenance schedule & book. Furthermore, i have a lifetime powertrain warranty but the dealer & corporate both state this repair is not covered. Even though i had a 100k mile extended warranty and a lifetime powertrain warranty and have religiously serviced my car at chrysler dealerships, i was stuck paying $1,000 to replace them. Dealer stated this is a serious safety issue so i had no choice. Nhtsa should insist chrysler repair or reimburse owners as this is a pervasive issue with the pacificas due to a design flaw (ac drips on motor mounts which causes them to rust out).

Took car in for regular maintenance and service manager showed me that the subframe/engine cradle was severely rusted especially in the center and passenger side.the car only has 76,500 miles and is regularly serviced, washed and maintained.now it's dangerous to drive.i have a max care chrysler extended warranty and it's not a covered component.i called chrysler and they will do nothing.this appears to be a problem with all model year pacifica's, yet they only warranty a very small number built in 2004-2005.

I took my car to a tire shop to replace a flat tire i had on the car. Upon fixing the flat tire, the shop notice that the k-frame of my car was rotting away. They recommended i get it fix as soon as possible because they saw it as being unsafe to drive. I then took my car to the chrsyler dealership in norwood, where they inspected the car. After inspecting the car, they too said that the car wasn't safe to drive and that i did need to get it fixed. At first, they told me that my car was no longer under warranty and that the recall that they had on rotten k-frames did not apply to my car. The chrsyler dealership and its headquarters wanted nothing to do with the car at first. After calling around and being very persistent with trying to find someone to take ownership of what was going on with my car i contacted the attorney general's office. The closest i got to someone taking ownership of my car was that the dealership said that i would have to pay a $500 deductible for my car to be fixed but while they were fixing the car and taking out the engine, i would have to pay for any parts that had been damaged in the process and on top of that, i would also have to pay for a rent a car while my car would be being fixed. Right now i have no way of getting around. I have an 81 year-old sister that i take care of as well who is legally blind. The sad part about this whole thing is that if i never got that flat tire, my family and i would still be driving around in an unsafe and who knows what could have happened by now and i think that there are a lot of people out here who are having the same problem and just don't know. Please help us!

In just 12 short months, they required replacement again. I now have no confidence in the safety of the motor mounts after having had (3) sets in 116k miles (original + 2 replcmts).

2008 chrysler pacifica. Consumer writes in regards to broken tpms sensor valve stem. *ld

While trying to replace my muffler on my 2008 chrysler pacifica, the shop could not locate replacement parts.i took it to several shops with the same result.at the last shop i was shown an issue with the sub-frame rusting out.so, i decided to take it to chrysler dealership and they found the same issues with the sub-frame and informed me that chrysler would not repair.now, i am going to be out of $4000.00 to repair the sub-frame and $1,200.00 to replace the muffler system.i did some research and discovered the rusting of the sub-frame is a systemic issue on 2004 - 2008 pacifica's in salt belt areas.my deep concern is that it is not widely known and my engine could have fallen out during operation.

While driving 40mph the hood flew open and smashed into the windshield, blocked my view while driving & nearly caused a fatal crash. This is the second time this has happened though the first time, it stayed latched just enough that the hood just vibrated & rattled giving me enough time to pull over on the highway, open it & slam it shut again. I'm now terrified to drive the car for fear it will happen again and cause serious injuries or a fatality. Chrysler should be forced to recall all their vehicles and replace the hood latch. My car was in mint condition and will now cost thousands to repair. There were no warnings lights or info displayed on the dash indicating the hood wasn't latched so no way of knowing there was a potential (serious) problem. It's shocking there's no sensor that tells you it's open/unlatched like there is when a door isn't closed properly.

Body frame on passenger side front of vehicle is rotted and chysler will not do anything about it and will not pay for repair to frame of car. Engine cradle rot.

Front cross-member connecting the side frame rails is rusting through due to water draining from a/c evaporator. This was found at annual safety inspection at the dealer while up on rack.

Shifter stuck in park shift solenoid recalled 2005-2007 also i have replaced ever recall on my 2008 pacifica that was in 2005-2007 recalls they need to include 2008 on all recalls. Some dangerous.

Engine stalls at any given time.there is no engine light for a problem, there is no error code.can't steer, have to restart car, and rev to get it started.

Sudden, uncontrolled acceleration, when put into drive from park.dealer unable to find a defect.

Twice now, the vehicle accelerated while on cruise control up to over 95 mph.i applied the brakes which slowed down a little bit, but the engine continued to rev and accelerate when i took my foot off the brake pedal. In both incidents, i had to shut off the car to get it to stop accelerating. There was a lot of traffic at the time, and i had to steer onto the shoulder with no power steering.the 2nd time this happened, i noticed the gas pedal was stuck even when the engine was off and had to be pressed on a couple of times before it would release.i am very concerned that this will happen again and cause a serious accident.i am planning on taking the vehicle in to get this fixed soon.i don't see any recalls and thought i should log a complaint here in case it helps saves other's lives as well.

Condensation outside on windshield - necessary to get off highway and stop because could not see - defrost system inadequate - happened 3/4 times in a couple week period. Air flow in auto - when back windows are down there is a tremendous noise (sounds like it will explode your ear drums - thought it was faulty real wheels but told by dealership it is an air-flow fault in the design of auto.do not know what would happen if windows stay down but wonder if loss of control or airborne materials in auto could result.
