My husband and i purchased a 1995 chrysler lhs back in the winter of 2000. When warmer weather hit we turned on our air conditioner and the car began to scream, we took it back and supposedly they fixed it, it happened again and we took it back to the place we bought it from again same thing for a third time and because we didn't have the money for an extended warranty they informed us they there was really nothing they could do for us but install a used condenser unit each time.well it worked for a little while and then it quit again.my husband went and bought the parts we needed and fixed it himself.it worked fine for a few months and now same thing, no air conditioner.just recently we began having a problem with the car stalling while driving. My husband replaced the crankshaft position sensor, it worked fine for a day and while driving with my 18 month old son in 90 degree weather it stalled about 25 times during our ride home. I had to pull over, shut the car off wait 5 mins and then try again. I held up traffic 3 times because there was not a shoulder to pull over on. I hate this car. Now there are so many things that could be the problem, as for putting it on a diagnostics machine, we did that and because the car needs to be driven to stall, no codes will come up, out another $125. This car is nothing but a money pit. As for the recalls, well this scares me as i could not possible find out the truth if the recall repairs were ever made. The fire hazard is enough not to want to drive the car. The recall i found deals with the fuel injection delivery system, system can leak fuel from some of the sealing o-rings or from hair line cracks in the thermoset fuel injection rail. Dealers will replace the fuel rail o rings and reinforce the outlet (passenger) side fuel rail. Vehicles showing fuel leakage on the outlet rail must have the outlet rail replaced which includes changing the upper and lower injector o-rings

The air conditioning on the car leaks and smells.we bought the car used in 1996 and had it 6 months when it needed the complete transmission replaced. The air was recharged but continues to leak.we just put close to $2,000 into this used lemon and still have the air to fix and the alternator is going so we are told before we get stuck again.there is a loud wind coming from it now that was not there when we got the car.we just replaced the water pump and timing belt and the tension pulley.i wish chrysler would at least fix the air conditioning because that is another $700+ we just don't have now.i am on social security disability and can not afford to fix it.i have a heart problem that the air concitioning would help with in the hot summer months around cincinnati, but it has taken all our tax refund money which we had better uses for this year.is there anything anyone can do to help us???

Power steering rack being replaced again - 4th time; power steering pump being replaced again - 5th time; right strut assembly replaced twice; transmission leakag; tranmission replaced; right tie rod replaced; right stabilizer link replaced; replace ending serpentine drive belt; repair gas tank leak; repair ac connector & wires; replaced ac compressor; replaced water pump; replaced timing belt - both the dealer and chrysler have been contacted on many occasions - currently vehicle is at dealer again to replace power steering pump and rack; however claim that parts are on national back order - vehicle has been at dealer for almost 2 weeks - this vehicle is very defective and appears to be unrepairable - one more than one occasion i was driving this auto when power steering went and rack split - should i be expected to ever behind the wheel of this vehicle again??

Plenum gasket deteriorated causing air instead of fuel to be consumed, resulting in vehicle hesitating/stalling prior to recall.

In 1998 the head gasket cracked and was replaced the vehicle warranty had expired and the cost was 1500.00. Recently the engine light has come on and we have taken the car to the rice marko chrysler dealership in greensboro, nc. They were unable to determine the cause. We have seen white smoke coming from the rear of the car and have had problems with starting the car. We were advised by a local auto repair shop that specializes in exhaust problems that the head was probably the problem. And also the car jumps or slips out of gear. There have been other problems but these are the most significant.

Oxygen sensor failed.

We purchased this vehicle from the dealer in 1997 with 23,000 miles on it. Since that time we had had enormous repair bills. In 1998 we had to have the heads replaced. There was later a problem with the mapping sensors, o2 sensors and many other problewms. Recently 12-2002 we took the car in because of starting problems. We were advised a number of things that could be the problem . At the suggestion of a chrysler mechanic we had all of the suggested repairs completed. This cost us just under $1000.00.the car was returned several times and we were advised that they could not determine what the problem was. We then took the vehicle to another chrysler dealer and another$1000.00 later we drove the car off the lot. Within 2 weeks we were back at the dealer where the car remains. I am now told that the block is cracked. I don't know much about cars but i really think that i have ended up with a lemon or that i have been taken by the mechanics. Please help.

I purchased this car in '95 with an extended warranty for 7 years and 75,000 miles. The trasnmission has been replaced 5 times and the last two times have occurred since the 1st of august 2000. The last 16 months the car has had a problem of "slipping" the transmission into what is called "limp mode"which immediately shifts the car into low gear with no warning and it will fluctuate back into gear and into low gear until the car is stopped and restarted. I believe this car has a defect which cannot be fixed by the manufacturer and i believe it to be a safety hazard. When this limp mode porblem occurs the effects at low speeds are dramatic and it recently occurred while doing 60 miles an hour on the highway, which was extremely dangerous to myself and others. I am a father of two girls and i don't wish to leave my wife a young widow because i, the little guy, can't get a big dog like chrysler to fix or replace this car. The car has had two recalls, two blown air conditioning units and various other problems.

High mounted brake light is an led display and costs $200.00.that is rediculously expensive for a safety item that should either last longer or be cheaper.car was a demonstration vehicle, and i was not informed date put in service when i bought it - it was just out of warranty when this led burned out.in addition, the dealer wants 1 hour ($85) to diagnose this burned out light!chrysler ought to be hung for turning a $2 light bulb into a $200 part.can you help?

Headlights would go out while driving at night intermittently, and it did not illuminate properly while on. Dealer notified. Feel free to provide any further informatiom.

1995 chrysler lhsfuel rail leak, gasoline pouring onto engine manifold(2nd owner of car) was repaired 8yrs ago for same issue at my own cost unaware of recall of fuel rail problem when purchased vehicle . Dealer refuses to correct problem ..it has a recall for thefuel rail leaking and or o- rings failure for year and vin of vehicle they state it was done in 1999.

1995 chrysler lhs fuel o-ring and fuel rail problem fixed by dealer under a national recall.same issue has resurfaced with the fuel o-ring and fuel rail. Dealer has indicated it will not be fixed now under the recall..vehicle is a fire and explosion hazard and should be fixed under the recall.

Constant fuel vapor fumes of raw gas coming into the vehicle, recall campaign 98v184000 was done to the vehicle as the reinforcements are present, fumes occur daily with presence of fuel coming out of reinforcement area outlet fuel rail was not replaced. Believe chrysler needs to replace the outlet fuel rail as per recall as reinforcements do not hold up.

Fuel rails failed, causing gas to leak onto the engine.

While fuel tank was being filled, fuel was leaking.consumer had taken vehicle to dealer. They removed fuel tank for repairs, and found that rubber hosewas cracked.

Consumer had difficulty with dealership when having recall repair (98v-184), additional items repaired as well as incorrect information on the invoice. Mjs

Consumer received a recall/fuel leakage, upon having this defect repaired consumer has taken vehicle back to dealership 8 times. First time everything was replaced, repairs were done infebruarysince then vehicle does not operate right, causing a number of other problems,.the vehicle is now over accelerating. Dealership's # market motor company---330-726-7030. Recall 98v-184000.

Fuel rail replaced prior to recall due to gas smell/gas leak onto motor. (98v-184)

Consumer took vehicle in forrecall repairs ono-rings . When consumer picked up car there was a strong gas smell after recall was performed, consumer was charged the second time to see where the smell was coming from.

The recall remedy has not sufficiently corrected the recall problem, the fuel injection delivery system continues to leak from the o-rings, recall number 98v184000. Took vehicle to dealer, but did not correct the problem to owner's satisfaction. *ml

While traveling noticed a fuel leak.

While driving vehicle started to sputter. Took vehicle to dealership & was informed the fuel rail was leaking on the motor from the plastic line. The fuel rail needed to be replaced due to being cracked.

Dt*:the contact stated in january 1999, a recall letter was received for the fuel injection system, nhtsa #98v184000.the vehicle was taken to the dealership and the recall work was performed.in february 2004, fuel began to leak from the engine compartment.the vehicle was taken to the dealership and the o-rings were replaced.the manufacturer was contacted for reimbursement, but because the failure occurred after the one year warranty, the claim was denied.

Fuel rail o-rings failed.

Due to a malfunctioning sensor a portion of fuel is going into the oil system. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer has made repairs. Please provide any further details.

The car keeps on dying when i'm driving and when the car dies i lose my brakes and my power steering my mechanic told me it is a problem with my fuel rails and i have noticed it leaking gasoline once in awhile.

The contact owns a 1995 chrysler lhs. The contact stated that there was an overpowering odor of gasoline coming from the vehicle that was noticeable in the interior cabin. After examining the vehicle, the contact discovered that the fuel rail was fractured. The vehicle was repaired by the contact and was not diagnosed by the dealer. Prior to the failure, the vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign id number: 98v184000 (fuel system, gasoline:fuel injection system). The current and failure mileage was 235,000.

Transmission completely failed at 68,000 miles.chrysler agreed to pay 1/2 of the cost of new transmission.new transmission continues to have problems with slippage.

While accelerating from a toll booth on i-90, west of boston, the transmission malfunctioned, resulting in no upshift from second gear. The engine was revving at about 6,000 rpm, with the car's speed limited to about 50 mph. The failure was sudden, in a middle lane on a very busy interstate highway with a 65 mph speed limit--a very dangerous and scary situation! from the transmission repair facility, local chrysler dealers, and other owners of chrysler vehicules with the same transmission, i learned that the internal mechanical transmission failure is a common problem/defect, of which chrysler is well aware.the safety implications are obvious, especially when the sudden breakdown occurs on a busy, high-speed highway, as in my case. Chrysler has not issued a recall notice, nor will they pay for repair of their defective transmission. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.

Owned car 2.5 years.on a daily basis, it will not go into gear on any, and every, single cold start.i have to wait 1-2 minutes before the transmission will engage.i took it to a transmission specialist (cottman) and was told that this problem is inherent with this particular transmission.i cannot affort the (approximate) $2,000.00 it would take to repair this manufacturing problem.

Tie rods broke twice. In addition, replaced transmission/premature wear of front brakes/comuter failure/driver's seat broke and check engine light came on/off.

I`ve had my transmission fixed 3 times and its going out again. The brakes have been replaced 3 times also the stabilizer bar, tie rods, and wheel bearings have been replaced on both sides. The car leaks oil and anti-freeze. Thesunroof doesn`t close half the time, and the tail lights don`t work on the right side. Also on the highway one time all the water ran out of my car while i was driving.

Transmission hesitates and slams into gear while slowing down, most problems occur during stop and go traffic when transmission is hot. Mjs

Transmission failure.

The transmission disengages by itself when slowing down to exit off of a ramp after achieving highway speeds.the driver is "standing" at a light and the car will disengage,"jerk" back into gear, lunging the car into the intersection if the driver is not steady on the brake.also, the lhs will, after coming off highway speeds for a period of time, or, if driving a slow speed for a period of time, say through a residential neighborhood, disengage, then lunge when it re-engages not allowing the transmission to switch to a higher gear, remaining in first gear until the car is turned off and re-started.i originally thought that the transmission was working in conjunction with the abs braking system.however, it is apparent that an unweary driver will not know how to respond to the transmission disengagement, possibly trying to accelerate past a car when the transmission is already disengaged and in neutral, causing a severe lung once the transmission re-engages.i have contacted the chrysler-mopar web-site to see if this transmission problem is re-occuring in other owner's cars; the response to the number of complaints on this transmission problem is evident throughout the last four years of this chrysler model.thank you in advance for your time and attention to this matter.

Transmission replaced 8/97 @ 42525 miles.transmission replaced 12/28/00 @ 91803 miles.this is unacceptable and chrylser should take accountability and recall a defective transmission.currently requesting assistance from chrylser for repair costs associated with replacing 2nd transmission.will take to small claims court if necessary.

Transmission would not change gears whenever vehicle is cold.

Automatic transmission, after approximately an hour's use, will go to emergencyscenario and only have 3rd gear available. This means on the highway you are able to drive but @high rpm to get to 45mph & no reverse. This has happened repeatedly. When i took it to a dealer, they were not able to replicate and told me so; however, they tested it cold and that functions well. It is when the transmission has had a hour or so use & then stop & go traffic, it then starts acting up & reverts to the emergency scenario. Took it to a transmission place & they call chrysler; who gave them instructions for performing a modification(s). Didn't help, it's not so dangerous, like lurching; but it will leave you standed. Wondering if others are experiencing this activity?

Recently the engine light has come on and we have taken the car to the rice marko chrysler dealership in greensboro, nc. They were unable to determine the cause. We have seen white smoke coming from the rear of the car and have had problems with starting the car. We were advised by a local auto repair shop that specializes in exhaust problems that the head was probably the problem. And also the car jumps or slips out of gear. There have been other problems but these are the most significant.

I was having some uneven and premature front tire wear problems. I thought that the inner tie rod bushings were simply worn out. I found out instead that one of the bolts that hold the inner tie rod ends to the steering rack had actually sheared/ broken, and this was allowing the excessive slop in the steering. Obviously, if the bolt would have sheared all the way off, sudden and catastrophic (possibly deadly) loss of steering would have occurred, without warning. In order to remove/extract the broken bolt, the steering rack had to be removed from the car to facilitate access to the broken bolt with an extractor. This is an expensive 6 hours of labor job, to repair a simple broken bolt. Not only is it ridiculously expensive to repair, this is an item (the tie rod to steering rack bolt) that should never break from normal usage of the automobile. I subsequently found from on-line research that this is not an uncommon problem in the chrysler lh platform cars. Also, that there have been many consumer complaints, and several lawsuits due to alleged defective design, insufficient service/inspection procedures, or materials, relating directly to the lh platform steering, including severe accidents caused by this identical failure. Also complaints of chrysler offering no assistance to the consumer (including me) in regards to this very dangerous (and expensive to repair) defect.

I experienced a loud clunking sound when i turned the steering wheel.also when i drove over uneven pavement or an uneven entry to a driveway i could hear the same sound and could feel it through the steering wheel.i had a dealership check it out and they found that there was a bolt that had worked itself loose on the lower control arm.i have found information on the internet related to steering failures leading to death on several vehicles with the same steering components that my car has.fortunately i caught this early enough to prevent a disasterous even like other people have experienced.they tightened the bolt.i understant that chrysler corporation has changed the torque specifications and the bushing used on the tie-rod ends in order to prevent the type of failures that many people have experienced.if you would like to look at the information that i found concerning steering components, premature transmission failure and premature engine failure, go to:http://www.daimlerchryslervehicleproblems.comhere you can read all about the multitude of problems that chrysler products are experiencing.

Sticking throttle caused vibration, rough shifting, and sudden acceleration.

Consumer used the cruise control, it cut off and when went back to start it again, the car accelerated.

While driving about 25 mph, driver began to accelerate. About 3 seconds later, a loud noise came from the front of the vehicle, the rpms revved up, andvehicle caught on fire in the tailpipe. All this happened without any kind of warning. In a matter of seconds. The vehicle will be totalled. Please provide any further informaiton.
