Was in traffic when vehicle died for no reason. Speed was not involved. Took to dealer. Mechanic could not find anything wrong the first time. The next time, vehicle was placed on rack & mechanic replaced the computer chip.
Ignition switch sticks in the start position. Radio and other parts related to the electrical system do not work when switch is stuck.
There is a short within the ignition switch, andignition switch locks up.consumer is unable to get the vehicle to start, and the dealer can't determine the cause of the problem.

Automatic transmission appears to be in wrong gear, sounds like a vehicle with manual transmission traveling toofast in low gear, resulting in rpm needle rising and then dropping/lurching.
When driving at speed 35 mph, vehicle will shift very hard, at a speed 65mph, vehicle will downshift.

Transmission inadvertently downshifted from overdrive to high back to overdrive on its own; any driving conditions, uphill/downhill/flat surface; 65 to 70 mph.
While driving at <5 mph (rush hour traffic), depressed accelerator and car reacted as if in neutral (revving, no movement), let off gas and tried again. Engine revved, slammed into gear and went approx. 30 ft. Occurred 3 more times and had to be towed.transmission shop stated that "overdrive snap ring broke inside main input drum assembly and the forward drum assembly blew up"resulting in need to rebuild trans., replace all clutch plates and torque converter.shop stated that chrysler knew of this problem and had upgrades to transmission but did not recall because "not every car had the problem".cost to rebuild transmission and have upgrade installed $2025.51.

Rear axle channel failure.
There were weld cracks in the rear axle. Took vehicle to dealership & informed by mechanic it needs to be replaced with new rear axle. Took to 2nd mechanic & informed the same reasoning.the service manager said it can only be welded.
The rear axle makes a popping noise when going over uneven surfaces. Mechanic stated that the axle has several cracks. Axle has not been replaced at this time.
Consumer was in accident and seat belt did not hold, consumer's head hit windshield.

Seat broke, lower bolt in the drivers side, broke completely in half and did the screw which held the cover in place.
While at a stop sign vehicle was rearended.upon impact,drivers seat became loose and shaky, partially detatched from anchors. Consumer suffered injuries.

Going 45 mph, coming upon stop light, lifted foot off accelerator pedal, & started braking, engine continued to race, tried lifting accelerator pedal which came up, pressed very hard on brakes (no abs brakes) to stop.took vehicle to dealership.
Abs: seems as though there is still room for pedal to move after pressing brake pedal; vehicle still rolls ahead; rearended another vehicle.tt

When driver's door is opened it makes the fender bend back by tire area.door shifted & not enough clearance. Took to dealer & informed hinge had broken off frame.
The driver's side door hinge is broken, making it impossible from entering and exiting the vehicle. Consumer also states the door is off set. Consumer has contacted the dealer. Please provide any further details.

When vehicle is in reverse there is a grinding metal sound coming from the rear of the vehicle.when taken to midas, midas discovered that rear cross member is cracked. This information was also verifiedby a chrysler dealer. The problem has not been corrected.

When you slow down my car maks a funny noise which is called a ratcheting sound when you come to a hault. A friend of mine had the samething wrong and other chrysler lebaron cars i have been next to at stop lights have made the same noise. It's something in the transmission. The rear of my car makes a real funny noise that sounds like the shocks have gone bad. In fact, we have replaced the rear shocks, and it still makes the noise. We had no idea what it was until a friend of mine was in the car and heard the noise and said her car did the samething, and came to find out it was the torsion bar in the rear of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 1992 chrysler lebaron.the contact stated that the paint was peeling from the roof and front bumper on his vehicle.the vehicle was not taken to the dealer, but he called the manufacturer to inquire if they would repair it for free.the manufacturer stated that they would not pay for the repair because the vehicle was too old and the mileage was too high.the failure mileage was 96,000.
