Vehicle had this problem before, andbrake light switch was replaced once.a certified mechanic stated that master cylinder malfunctioned.the manufacturer suggested that the consumer take the vehicle to another dealership. The dealership put a spring on the brake pedal and suggested the entire brake pedal may need to be replaced.the first repair which was the switch lasted about three days. *ph
While driving at night with headlights on they cut off without prior warning, leaving consumer without visibility of the road.vehicle was towed to the consumer's house. Dealership was notified.chrysler dealer replaced lite switch.*tc
While driving, starting and making a left into mall, vehicle stalled as if not in gear, floored pedal & vehicle moved, then had parked it; started vehicle & again it stalled; had floored pedal to move. Turned on & off to move.not at dealer. Mechanic said its a filter.

Strong odor of gasoline.chrysler says vehicle year from 1993- 1997 has been recalled but not the 1992 year but that car should not be driven because of fire possibility.have been waiting on parts from chrysler for about 6 weeks.the reason given is that there are so many failures that parts are distributed by waiting list.if car is unsafe to drive then it probably should be recalled.

The contact owns a 1992 chrysler imperial. The contact was driving 35 mph when the brakes failed. The contact tried to depress the brake pedal but the pedal went to the floorboard abnormally and the vehicle would not stop. The contact coasted the vehicle to the shoulder and the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised the contact that the brakes would have to be bled. The dealer also stated that there was a recall for the failure under nhtsa campaign id number: 96v099000 (service brakes, hydraulic:anti lock) but the part needed to complete the recall repair was no linger being manufactured. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 91,000.
The contact called on behalf of a friend who owns a 1992 chrysler imperial. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the engine made an abnormal noise without warning. Upon driving the vehicle at various speeds, the contact's friend would had to depress the brake paddle with great effort, as the brake failure light illuminated.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective abs system. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. Upon further investigation the contact associated recall nhtsa campaign number: 96v099000 (service brakes, hydraulic) with the failure. The failure mileage was 247,053.
Power brakes stopped working on the way home driving 35 mph. Had to press very hard to get the brakes to start to slow the car. Told that the abs pump motor had burned out and is covered by recall 685. Dealer said they had no one who could work on it . Chrysler says they will not honor the recall on november 2 2015 on the phone. The car is to oldand recall only good for ten years . Read the recall and it says this part isguarantee for the lifetime of the car other parts only for ten years.
We have a 1992 chrysler imperial that has a recall no.# 685 for abs lifetime. Larry h. Miller chrysler jeep tucson. Refuses to fix the recall. It's not safe to drive on the road. They are threatening to file a abandon vich. To claim it and sell it. I cannot drive it off the lot until it is fixed. I need some help. Can anyone help with this problem? if i tow it and sell it. It is still unsafe to drive if not fixed for other owner. Can you help?

The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal but it was stiff and he had to let the vehicle coast to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the acute piston pump regulator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 104,000.

Abs recall, the dealer stated that it would be a charge to tell the consumer if the abs was defective.they could not tell if the recall partfailed until additional work was performed.96v099000.

Replacement of abs pump system.*mr abs light was on and the pedal was hard to push to make a stop.dealer replaced abs pump assembly at consumer's expense. Dealer would not honor recall repairs because the recall was over.

The contact owns a 1992 chrysler imperial.while driving approximately 60 mph, the brake pedal extended to the floor when it was depressed.the vehicle swerved off the road into a vineyard.there were no other vehicles involved in the crash.the contact sustained major injuries.a police report was filed.the manufacturer was not notified.after the crash, the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop and they stated that the brakes failed due to the retaining clip being improperly installed.the dealer also stated that the vehicle was repaired according to nhtsa campaign id number 96v099000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock).he called the dealer and had the vehicle towed to another dealer.the vehicle has not been repaired at this time.the failure mileage was 162,021.updated 020209 the consumer was informed that the retaining pin that connected the brake pedal to the brake piston rod had fallen out due to a missing retaining clip. On a number of occasions the front suspension air strut cracks, causing the the front of the vehicle to drop due to a rubber ring which needs to be replaced. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer has replaced the air strut. Please provide further details.
Had taken vehicle to dealer due to air suspension system failure to keep vehicle up. Mechanic was suppose to repair. Picked vehicle up & problem still existed. Took vehicle back & was informed repairs already done.
