The back window has become detached and is hanging on by a thread. It becomes more detached when driving the vehicle. The silver seen in the photo is duck tape we applied to help keep it in place which is not working.this vehicle has been stored in a garage since purchase in new smyrna beach fl.additionally, in the past two months the air bag indicator will not go off in the vehicle.its like owning the [xxx] stepchild of chrysler/mercedes nobody knows anything.help!information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I was involved in an at-fault wreck on july 10, 2009. My foot slipped off the brake pedal when slowing down for a traffic light and i was unable to stop my slowing car. I crashed into the rear of a ups truck. My chest slammed into the steering wheel because the driver's airbag failed to deploy. The passenger's airbag did. The police and fireman were extremely shocked and it is written up the police accident report. I need help in contacting chrysler concerning this incident. My car was only 4 years old and had only 46,000 miles on it. I am now disabled and can no longer work to support myself. The hospital sent me home from the emergency room and pain continued to worsen in my neck and lower back until i was forced to stop working after 33 years in the safety field.i have spoken with several attorneys and they have informed methey will not take the case because chrysler is in bankruptcy.big deal!they are still selling cars!!!!! the government bailed them out to the tune of millions of dollars, their executives still received millions of dollars in bonuses, etc. And i, an owner of one of their vehicles, which i longed for since it was release and am now disable due to a malfunction of the airbag, which is documented by police.this will not be my final effort to receive damages from chrysler.my next step is to contact my state representatives and senator, and to then write letters to every newspaper who will print my letter.this is a crying shame.i have been in executive safety my entire career and this takes the cake!!!!!!!!i deserve more that an excuse.i deserve an ear with chrysler!if i do not hear soon, i will take my next step.i will continue until i receive compensation for my loss.loss in the ability to support myself.
Dt:airbag on driver's side curtain deployed when vehicle hit something on the road. She was going about 60 mph.dealer said the manufacturer told them that she must have hit something which caused her air bag to deploy and they considered it a collision. Manufacturer said the same thing. Caller was injured by airbag.
Was shopping. Left store , got in my car , put the key in & it would not turn (froze). Had to have it towed to dealership. (cross motors lou ky)......cost $1,569.....have found out that this is an on going problem with many crossfire owners everywhere. Too many people are having problem with "defective key switch" . Should warrant a callback from mfgr.
Vehicle ignition and steering column locked up.required a tow.towed to dealership.mechanic stated he has replaced at least twenty ignitions on crossfires, in the last two years, with the identical problem.minimum cost for repairs is $2000.00.ignition has to be re-laser cut to fit existing key.
Car runs fine one day then will not start at random times, turn the ignition get no sound from engine. Dash lights come on, fan and radio comes on but car will not start. Wait a few hours or a few days, it cranks right up as intended. Electrical system has been checked and always show good results.
The skreem module has failed which controls the anti-theft system, key & ignition. The part is no longer available through chrysler or aftermarket. The car cannot run without this module. The vehicle was stationary at the time of failure. I had to have it towed to a repair shop. Luckily it was close to home when it failed. Chrysler needs to make this part available since it is a common problem that affects hundreds if not thousands of vehicles that cannot be driven once it fails.
Very difficult to turn key in the ignition to start the cr. Problem became acute in a week.could not start the car. Towed to dealer. $1,200 repair quote.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire.while driving approximately 50 mph on normal road conditions, the vehicle hesitated when the accelerator pedal was depressed.the rpm's revved and then decreased, followed by the engine stalling.the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel prior to the stalling.the vehicle failed to restart after several attempts.the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer eight times for diagnostic testing, but they were unable to duplicate the failure.the wiring was adjusted within the computerized system.the manufacturer was notified of the failures, but there were no resolutions.the vehicle is currently inoperable and has not been repaired.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 58,556 and current mileage was 69,650.
We just bought a 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster srt6.last night (13 mar 2006) we were driving through town. When my wife stopped at a stop sign the car stalled.turning the key off and starting again the car started and ran.the car has only 600 miles.i read where other chryslers have sudden stalling problems and have had recalls.not sure if there were very few crossfires and if they ought to be included in a recall.
The ignition switch went out again, this time the ealer says $1,500.00 to repair, this has been a known problem, i need to get it fixed, i contacted chrysler corp, noresponse to date, i waited along time to get this car, got it, had it shipped to me now this.any help would be appreciated.
Ignition switch failure. Vehicle is now inoperable. Appears to be a jammed pin from steering column to ignition switch. It has been a recurring problem for about 6 months until it failed altogether. From the number of posts regarding this malfunction it appears a defective component as the complaints are for cars with very low mileage.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. When the vehicle was stopped and turned off, it was unable to be restarted. The key did not turn the ignition well enough to restart the vehicle. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The dealer stated that the vehicle was old and was not sold by that dealer. The failure was not remedied. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 26,000. Updated 08/17/16*lj
Car wouldn't start several times since purchase. The battery was fully charged, took it to a chrysler dealer who "cleaned up some grounds". The lights, stereo, etc worked but the motor didn't even make a sound when trying to start. One time when it did start iwas making a turn when the car completely died...i didn't realize it at first because the heater, radio, panelwere all lit up and working. I was very lucky to be able to make it safely to the side of the road. Had to have thecar towed back to the garage. When they started working on it, the panel behind the glove box started smoking. I now have a very nice, useless little car with only 50,000 miles on it because #chrysler can't fix it for me.
The car would not start (battery dead).replaced the battery and the next day the battery was dead again.took it to the repair shop thinking it was the alternator and the tech did a check and came back with a bad power module.car can't be driven as the battery drains in just a few hours.the tech stated that he did a check on the vin number and it came back with a recall for the power module, which i can't verify.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. The contact stated that when placing the key in the ignition, it would not turn.the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who advised him that the housing, cylinder, and the key all needed to be replaced. The vehicle was notrepaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000. The vin was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. The contact stated that while parked, the key would not turn in the ignition. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis, who stated that the ignition switch would have to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
I purchased this car used with 28,400 miles on it from a dealer and had no problems at all for my first 1000 miles.i loved the car!however, then began the locked up ignition switch problem.at first, it was minor, i only had to try turning the key a dozen times before it would start, but that got a little worse every day. Then today, 6 months later, it took about 500 attempts and 20 minutes before it started.now i need a mechanic and except to spend upwards of a $1000.i've probably had 25 different cars in my lifetime and never experienced anything close to this. Doesn'tchrysler recognize this is their manufacturing defect?haven't they read the crossfire forum?i'm not the only one this has happened to.it is a common problem with this model and there should be a recall!
Thia car's problem may be withthe ignition. Sometime's it just will not start. We put a new battery in it only to find that the battery was not the problem. It has been to repair three times. They did a thorough check and found nothing wrong each time. The first time the car had to be towed. They said they did not experience the problem when they had the car. It wasdriven back home.another time the car just stopped on the highway (at 35mph) downtown atlanta in heavy traffic. I'm afraid to drive it because it may either stop or just not start.
Ignition key is stuck and will not turn, apparently a well known common problem among owners car parked and shut off and then when trying to restart key will not turn
My2005crossfire roadster convertible just stopped running twice while driving on a very busy road! the first time i was stopped at a light when the car died. I had no power and the car would not restart. As the light had now turned green every car in every lane started to move forward. Of course the person behind me started beeping and screaming! i got out of the car (very dangerous) and started to push the car over several lanes to the shoulder of the road. Two men jumped out and helped me push it to a side road off the main road. Cars were now flying past us going at least 45 to 50 mph. My car was towed to my home chrysler dealership and after 3 days the mechanic replaced the engine relay control module which had an internal failure. The car ran fine for 9 months when the same thing happened but this second time i was going 45 mph when the car just died. I nearly got hammered trying to allow my slowing vehicle's momentum to take me across several lanes of traffic trying to get to the shoulder of the road before stopping. It was frightening and very dangerous!!!my car was towed to a local chrysler dealership but after two days i was told they did not have the equipment to analyze or fix the problem. Fortunately my insurance company was kind enough to have the car towed a second time to the dealership i used on the first incident. They have now had my car for over a week with very little communication. They claim they can't get the car started (duh) and they can't even get the car into neutral to push it into a bay to work on it. (hunh?). They claim they need a computer part from mercedes to analyze the problem. (what?) now they tell me they got the car into the bay and are charging the battery. (really that is all they've done in 7 days?) i am more than frustrated with them...i was told by the non-service advisor that they have many cars in their shop for months!
Ignition key mechanism "locks" and cannot be turned to start the vehicle leaving user stranded and requiring tow. This is a recurring problem experienced by many users of this vehicle (see comments at www.crossfireforum.org; searchfor "ignition, lock, cylinder") and appears even in vehicles with very low mileage. Dealer advice is to replace the "ignition lock cylinder" which is a very expensive proposition. Some report that the new part also fails within a relatively short time. This is obviously a defective component that should be replaced with a reliable one. I was stuck in a parking lot at 112f (southwest us location) for 1/2 hour trying to get the ignition mechanism to turn.the problem appears to be due to a steering wheel locking pin that becomes jammed. If this happens while vehicle is being driven, then it could cause an accident.
By back window got unglued & unable to lower my top. Also the electrical just stopped i'm not able to move my seats, or use cd player or lighter to plug my phone. Just one day it stopped working & then with my window unglued i'm not able to take top down for past 2 years. So i don't know why the back window got unglued.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. Occasionally, after the vehicle was turned off, the contact was unable to turn the key in the ignition to start the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 66,039.
When you put the key in to start engine it won't turn in any direction. Can not remove key. Shook, jiggled, turned , key with no movement. Took about 3 hours of shaking key in lock before it worked. Has done this every time the last few times i drove car. Now the car just sits in the driveway. I have been told it will not ever turn again. Would not like to have the engine die on freeway and have to re-start the engine with the key acting the way that it does, would be sitting in traffic shaking the key for 2 to 3 hours.
Ignition sticks. At times wheel will not turn and car will not start. Don't know if it can lock up while the car is operating. Numerous on-line complaints appear regarding the crossfire wheel lock and ignition malfunction. Recall before it causes accident would be warranted.
I parked my car at a shop's parking lot and didn't have any issues. About 20 minutes later i came back to my car and tried to get the engine to turn over and the ignition would not turn. I tried with both of my keys and i couldn't get the ignition to turn. The steering wheel also was locked up. I had to take apart my dash board to get to the ignition so i could release the locking pin. Once the pin was released i had no problems starting the car.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. The contact stated that while the convertible top was open, the rear glass windshield became detached from the vehicle. Additionally, water entered the vehicle through the windshield and caused the main computer to fail. The contact stated that the failure caused the headlights, the tail lights, and the brake lights to fail intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the convertible top needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
My car has on occasion randomly just not turned over, somedays it runs then may not start for days, then start then just not start, getting very frustrated due to low miles car has and having this rediculious issue. Put in new battery nothing, changed out parts still will not fix it.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. While parked, the key would not turn in the ignition switch. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.
Rear windshield completely separated from top in late (oct)2010. It was replaced and has completely separated again. I am so upset. This is dangerous and costly. I also have issues with car alarm going off while operating vehicle. I have contacted crysler and have not been offered any assistance.
The ignition has locked up and will not turn, also the headlight coverings have turned very cloudy limiting sight distance when driving at night, in the rain, at dusk, and dawn, and during fog.
I own a 2005 crossfire with 23300 miles.my ignition key began to "stick" when starting the car.it stuck about 2 weeks ago but i was able to start the care after 15 minutes of trying.yesterday the ignition stuck and i was not able to start the car.i had the car towed to a dealer in san jose ca.the service writer told me he had another crossfire in for service for the exact same problem.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. The contact stated that he attempted to start the vehicle but the engine would not start. The vehicle was towed the dealer for a diagnostic and stated that the lock tumbler needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,785.
Ignition failure.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. The contact stated that the key was locked in the ignition and the vehicle was unable to start. The vehicle was taken to south chicago dodge chrysler jeep (7340 s western ave, chicago, il 60636) where it was diagnosed that the ignition and cylinder malfunctioned and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000. The vin was not available.
Car was stationary and key was inserted into ignition but could not turn the ignition in attempting to start the car. It does not move (key) to initiate the function to start the car. Also, no motion of the key movement was available provide any steps of the ignition. The movement of the ignition tumblers become froze in a jammed position disabling the key from turning. It should be noted this is not a new comment about this year 2005 chrysler crossfire ignition (no turn) in starting the vehicle. Safety concerns, prevention of starting a car create an emergency's for movement other than driving the car.
The convertible top would not open, the rear spoiler would not operate and the keyless entry would not open to let me in the car.after attempting to replace 3 different parts over 4 visits they determined there was a pinched wire and replaced it, fixing all the problems at once.
There is a dangerous electrical short located within the dash board area of my crossfire.the electrical short could lead to a hot spot in the wiring harness, which could lead to a fire in the passenger side dashboard area.if this fire should happen while the automobile is being stored inside my home garage, the results would be catastrophic.as illustrated by the video i uploaded to the following url link for your viewing http://photos.imageevent.com/firebase/videos/crossfire%20tapping%20in%20dash%20sound.wmv , you can clearly see the electrical short occurring, and hear the audible clicking, as the short is opening and closing.please note i furnished to daimler chrysler's district manager a copy of the same video, by way of a ups delivery.he made the claim people doctor videos. Therefore, he refused to review the video.at this time a hard copy of the video, and the above referenced link, are being forwarded to the attorney generals office of consumer affairs in alabama, for their evaluation.

On my way to work having just passed several cars, traveling @70+ miles/hr. On the interstate, i noticed wobbling & the loss of control & immediately moved to the right lane & steered towards the right shoulder of the highway, thanking god for no accident.i put the gear in~park~turned the ignition switch off & checked the exterior to notice my newly purchased rear passenger tire was prematurely blown(recently purchased tires).i called a tow truck(2nd time this march month because it wouldn't crank in my driveway): upon their interstatearrival, i learned that the electronic control system/engine had shutdown with an 'inability to put the car in neutral gear or any gear in order for them to tow it.this is the 3rd time the engine has locked like this.the car has been in the shop for 8(eight) months now since march 23, 2015 & the chrysler mechanics are in 'awe' as it seems to be irrepairable.i have been without transportation since march, 2015.chrysler company, please help me with this dangerous problem: i & others could have been killed on the interstate & i have been towed three times because the electronic stability shutdown, but this has been the longest & worst.in the past, i have had the hood-ceiling, ignition switch replaced & before this, i was about to have the silver outside window borders replaced.there has to be a recall on this electronic system just shutting down while i am in the midst of driving as this being the 3rd time shutting down & i do have a new battery, therefore that is not the problem.help! help! help![note: crossfire in shop 8+ months/ i am without my car!please let me hear from you concerning this serious & dangerous matter!it is the mercy of god that there was no accident during the rush/work morning traffic on the interstate, monday, march 23, 2015.help! please!
Tire pressure gauge stays lit on the dash when the air pressure is ok.
The skreem module has failed which controls the anti-theft system, key & ignition. The part is no longer available through chrysler or aftermarket. The car cannot run without this module. Driving 55 and back window fell out. And chrysler will not pay for new top.

I own a 2005 crossfire limited convertible. I have had 3 incidents in less than 3 months with my car not starting. The dealership could not get the problem to repeat until this time. They said it was a problem with after factory install of a new stereo system creating a fuse shortage, and draining the battery. If this is a true problem for chrysler crossfires the consumer needs to have this information known before purchasing, not after the purchase.
The chrysler crossfire convertible back windows on some cars lose their adhesive bond and the windows come fall partly apart. This allow rain water to enter under the window, where the roof latch is. There is a way for water to enter the trunk there. This water finds its way to two trunk cavities on the bottom, and the water has no place to exit. On the right side is the security module that can be saturated that the foam insulation, actually can store this water as a sponge. And the water can then cause a problem in the security area. Module. Lights coming on flashing and sirens blaring ay all kind of times.. That the battery can actually be discharged leaving one stranded. Had the problem happen, had to take the truck apart to bail out water, quite a lot, there is no exit hole for the water to leave that it builds up around the security module and the foam around it, soaks up water. That while the module looks good, i seen a burned area and smelled a electrical problem. There was so much water in the foam that it weight was real heavy.solution have a drain hole in the bottom of both trunk pits, below the jack. That a material that does not absorb water be used. Place a cover over the module to weatherize it.. What should have been done that a soft rubber seal should have sealed around the roof latch hole inside that the outside is okay until the window seal lets water in.
Headlight lenses cloudy and crazing. Dealer refused to replace under warranty. District manager refused to replace under warranty. Later directed dealer to polish lenses. Made them worse. Later offered 50-50 cost share. A. My cost would be in excess of $500.00 and b. Car is still under warranty and is apparently a manufacture defect. Numerous other owners have had their lights replaced by dealers, appears to be no hard and fast rule. District manager is trying bullying tactics. He has never seen the car, even though i tried on several occasions to meet with him. He is unapproachable and incommunicado to anyone outside of the dealer. I have photos. I gave a photo to service manager to attempt to get this resolved. District manager has not replied.
The "clear" cover over the projection headlights assembly and yellow signal light has become severely clouded/faded particularly on the upper half of the cover.the signal light is becoming obscured behind the cloudiness.the car has very little mileage and the defect is not the result of road debris damage (rocks/sand).no repair was made because the dealer blames the manufacturer for denying claim, and the manufacturer says it is up to the dealer to perform the work and place a claim.i believe it to be a defective product because i have compared the lens on my car to other vehicles of the same make and model (some of which were older and had much more mileage) and yet are in better condition than the one on my car.
Dt*: the contact stated while driving at night up hills or around curves, the headlights do not shine on the road.the vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection.they determined it was a design of the vehicle.although the manufacturer was alerted, no repairs were made.
I notified daimler-chrysler (dc) that i had a problem when my dealer tried to fix it 4 times to not avail.dc sent a tech to look at my car and because they could not replicate my problem (happens sporadically), they deemed my car normal. So anyone experiencing the following problem can expect to be told its normal?"lack of power when at a stop, even though you might be mashing in the gas pedal (pedal to the metal)"so if you fear for your life when you're in the middle of an intersection and your car won't move, don't worry because its normal?i believe i have a major safety issue with this car because multiple times i have been stopped on the road and then unable to move because my car does not register that i'm pushing down on the pedal.this past week-end it happened and i had a truck coming at me but the car would not move! thankfully the driver swerved around my car with a lot a honking and such.but because they would not replicate that problem, they say its fine.i'm concerned that this will happen again and i won't be lucky enough to get out of the way!

I just bought this car. The cup holder is stuck in the vertical position right where my elbow goes when controlling the shifter thus making it difficult and possibly dangerous to do so. I went on the internet to investigate this issue and found hundreds of complaints from crossfire owners of all years about this very thing. Chrysler will do nothing about it including just disconnecting the spring on the cup holder so that it will stay down. The fix is over $300 if you get chrysler to do it, and they install the same defective part again. Not a good fix. I think it is dangerous, very distracting while driving.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start and all of the power train position lights illuminated. The contact could also feel a vibration in the shift handle. After numerous attempts to start the vehicle, the vehicle responded however, the contact was not able to shift out of park.after some time, the contact was able to shift out of park but the vehicle would not shift out of the lower gears while in motion. The vehicle was taken to three different dealers for diagnosis but no cause for the failure could be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 55,000.

While driving in inclement weather, the vehicle stopped.the driver was not able to get the vehicle to move into any gear.the vehicle was towed to his home.*sc
On this date a second transmission failure was in progress where the transmission would not shift properly into gear.this incident happened on a trip to see a relative in poor health and along with defective wheel bolts that caused the passenger front wheel to become separated from the vehicle, left me stranded.this was not the first time the transmission had been giving me troubles and has failed along with numerous large leaks noted on separate occasions that the dealership has been unable to repair under the oem warranty.
Went to back out of garage and the vehicle was difficult to steer. Continued to go and the car drove likeit did not have power steering. I checked the fluid level and it is right to the line and looks very clean.it is hard to believe the steering quit after only having less than six thousand miles.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire.the contact attempted to adjust the steering column but the steering column would not lock, causing the steering wheel to move back and forth while the contact was driving.the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was awaiting a diagnosis of the failure.the manufacturer was notified, but denied any assistance with repairs to the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure and current mileage was 46,720.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. While the vehicle was stationary, the steering wheel failed to unlock when prompted. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the plastic part of the steering wheel locking pin became dull and worn. As a result, the steering wheel was subject to internal failure. Autonation chrysler dodge jeep ram mobile (3118 government blvd, mobile, alabama 36606, (251) 202-2253) and mercedes-benz of mobile (3060 dauphin street, mobile, alabama 36606, (251) 472-2369) were made aware of the failure and stated that the part to correct the failure was no longer in production. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
I own a 2005 chrysler crossfire conv. The back window became unglued and is falling out,i cant drive the car and it is not possible to put the top down. The only fix i'm aware of is to order a new top from chrysler at the tune of 2500 dollars. It's a major problem and they should recall this and repair at no charge. This car was expensive and obviouslyi will no longer buy a chrysler product because they will not fix their problem.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible. The contact stated that he noticed that the rear windshield delaminated and became a projectile. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop and the convertible top was being replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 30,000......update 01/20/12 the consumer stated chrysler agreed to pay $1800 toward the replacement costs of the top. The consumer has since received the check. Updated 01/25/12
In 2009, i purchased a 2005 crossfire, it was in perfect condition with only 32000 miles on it. I have kept it in my garage. This last april, i noticed the rear glass window began to separate from the canvas top. I was surprised to find out it is only supported by adhesive glue. It is a glass window, what were they thinking, it needs better support. Chrysler has been of little help and i hate to replace due to the cost due and because the top itself is still in good condition. They need to remedy this as it seems to be a defect.
The chrome trim on the backside of my 2005 chrysler crossfire interior door pull is peeling and becoming very sharp.this occurs on both driver and passenger doors.i recently sliced my finger open while closing the driver's door.there is a tsb out to fix this issue, but since my car is out of warranty chrysler will do nothing.this is a safety concern.
Half of the back window of my 2005 chrysler crossfire has come unglued and is dangerous to drive the car as the glass may blow out. The car has approx 10k miles and is in mint condition and this should not occur.
While driving on the interstate, the rear window in the convertible top detached and fell out, causing the car behind me to...react in a very unsafe manner. The sudden wind inside my car caused a very unsafe condition. This has happened to a number of crossfire owners. Big problem.when it detached, it ripped out the wiring for the defogger and scratched the tonneau cover.
Convertible rear window detaching from fabric top.seems to be manufacturers defect. No option for repair except to replace entire top at cost of $3000 - $4000 for parts & labor.seems to be numerous crossfire owners with same issue.chrysler not covering under warranty or helping to defray replacement cost.
My rear window is separating from the convertible canvas top. I contacted chrysler as there is an extended warranty of 10 years or 100,000 miles: nhtsa sb 23035-11 rev a. I was told the nhtsa was for vehicles delivered only in certain states. What does the state have to do with a faulty adhesion problem? after a number of emails and phone calls chrysler has turned down the request. Concerned there is a danger if the window comes out on the highway.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible. The contact stated that the rear windshield was delaminating due to the convertible top. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where they advised her that she would have to replace the convertible top. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.updated 12/02/11*ljthe consumer stated there was a delamination of the rear window glass from the canvas of the convertible top.
My canvas top has separated from the glass window due to defective glue process. Not safe at all. It happened while driving on a highway doing 55mph. Window started to separate from canvas top. It i didn't hear all the air coming in and see it in my mirror it could flown out of the car into another car if i didn't quickly slow down and pull over. Very dangerous and now i have a maher bill to have it fixed. From doing some research on the internet i found that all 2005 crossfire convertible owners have complained about the same thing an more of them everyday. This should be a recall issue before it kills someone if it hasn't already. Thanks for listening and hopefully your help with this matter.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible.the contact stated that the rear window detached from the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the failure was a common occurrence but the window was not warranted by the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure and current mileage was 38,000.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the rear window detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated the window was a factory defect. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000. The consumer stated the defect was the adhesive that held the rear glass to the convertible top. The top was constructed of excellent quality german canvass.the glass detached and was tethered to the top solely by the wire connecting the rear glass defroster, and there was nothing holding the glass to the vehicle. Updated 10/31/13
Noticed water leaking through rear glass in convertible top after washing car upon inspection ascertained rear window glass is separating from top due to failure of adhesive. No resolution yet from dealership.
My back window is starting to peel away from the gluewhich holding it in, and i heard. It's been recalled to replace the top.
The consumer had difficulty down shifting his 2005 chrysler crossfire in the snow.including when the vehicle was placed in reverse, the vehicle would not move.the dealer told the consumer the vehicle was designed to be driven in the snow. It was considered a high performance vehicle, it was low to the ground, rear wheel drive.the tires were also high performance and the tread pattern was no good for the snow and/or lots of rain.*sc
Have a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible and the back window came apart from the canvas. Vehicle only has 27,000 miles on it. Contacted chrysler and they say it is not a defect but from other complaints i have seen this is happening often in the crossfire convertible.told by the dealership that this would be goodwill by them since i was only 13 days out of warranty when this happened, but they are not returning my phone calls.
2005 crhysler crossfire rear window pulled away from canvas.cannot be repaired.needs a new roof at a cost of $2250.under extended warranty, chrysler dealer claims not covered.there are numerous complaints about this issue yet chrysler does not stand behind this product.
I understand that the rear window is falling out of many of these vehicles and chrysler is doing nothing.
Purchased crossfire in california in december of 2012 with 45000 miles on it.commencing january 2013, rear glass commenced coming detached from canvas convertible top.condition continues and is a dangerous situation for both passengers and drivers behind car.if glass breaks loose it could cause serious bodily harm. Chrysler is very well aware of the situation and has paid to repair the vehicles on a sporadic basis.their last comments to me was due to my vehicle being first delivered in california, it was exempt from the recall for eight southern states.this is quite perplexing as the vehicles are identical, with the same problems. Only in different states.i have just learned that they replaced the top on a vehicle in chicago. Clearly not one of the states named in the south.i would like them to honor what they are doing all over the country.perhaps it is because they probably sold the most of these vehicles here in california.they are also excusing themselves from doing repairs because the cars were never climate tested in california.if not, they are relying on testing done on the mb slk.an identical vehicle.please help me get my vehicle repaired under the warranty extended to so many others.
Back window is coming loose from 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible top. Separating from canvas convertible top. Window rattles when driving on highway. Afraid window will fall out possibly causing damage or harm to others.
I own a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible.it has 27,434 miles on it.the back glass window came unglued and partially fell into the rear deck.it cannot be repaired with additional glue.the remainder of the top is in excellent shape.it is now costing me $2850.00 for a new top.clearly, this is a design flaw and safety hazard.a recall is in order.
The adhesive fastening the rear window to the convertible top let go and the glass has fallen in to the vehicle.
2005 chrysler crossfire 12,000 miles in new condition. Rear window separating from fabric convertible top due to poor engineering using inadequate sealant. No know fix available due to numerous complaints found online. Chrysler will not warrant the issue. Conv. Top hasn't been updated so there is no know fix!!
2005 chrysler crossfire front window molding fell off and hit driver. Consumer states that the molding from the front window fell off and hit him while he was driving with the top down. He states that this could cause a serious accident.
The convertible top's back window came unglued and fell out. Should be a mfr defect and be recalled.
Rear window is separating from convertible top.could fall out.chrysler is aware of this problem and is repairing some but not all due to the state it was delivered to.i want it to be on record that they were informed of this safety problem.
I came outside to find that the rear window of the convertible top had come loose and was laying on the rear deck being held to the fabric in 1 small place. The car had been parked outside for 1 day. Luckily it didn't fall out while i was driving, potentially shattering the glass near my head. Until the car is repaired it is unusable in foul weather due to water running in the passenger compartment.
Glass back window falling out of convertible top and chrysler is refusing to fix there manufacture defect.this is a safety hazard to the driver of the car and other vehicles on the road.
The rear glass of my 2005 chrysler crossfire convertable detached from the top and fell out suddenly at 65 mph.the only thing that saved it from causing possible injuries was the rear glass heater wiring.the car is garaged and only driven maybe one day a week.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. While driving 45 mph, the contact heard a loud wind noise and the rear window separated from the convertible top. The top was closed at the time and the failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that defective glue used was by the manufacturer and the convertible top needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue but did not offer any further assistance. The contact was informed that a technical service bulletin was issued, but expired last year. The contact stated that he did not receive the technical service bulletin. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The car is a 2005 chrysler srt-6 roadster.the rear window (glass) has delaminated from the cloth top and came loose while driving down the interstate.the only thing that kept the glass from coming out of the car was the spade connectors connecting to the defroster.if this had fallen out and hit a vehicle following me or flew forward striking the driver or passenger could have resulted in an accident or major injuries.
On my way to work having just passed several cars, traveling @70+ miles/hr. On the interstate, i noticed wobbling & the loss of control & immediately moved to the right lane & steered towards the right shoulder of the highway, thanking god for no accident.i put the gear in~park~turned the ignition switch off & checked the exterior to notice my newly purchased rear passenger tire was prematurely blown(recently purchased tires).i called a tow truck(2nd time this march month because it wouldn't crank in my driveway): upon their interstatearrival, i learned that the electronic control system/engine had shutdown with an 'inability to put the car in neutral gear or any gear in order for them to tow it.this is the 3rd time the engine has locked like this.the car has been in the shop for 8(eight) months now since march 23, 2015 & the chrysler mechanics are in 'awe' as it seems to be irrepairable.i have been without transportation since march, 2015.chrysler company, please help me with this dangerous problem: i & others could have been killed on the interstate & i have been towed three times because the electronic stability shutdown, but this has been the longest & worst.in the past, i have had the hood-ceiling, ignition switch replaced & before this, i was about to have the silver outside window borders replaced.there has to be a recall on this electronic system just shutting down while i am in the midst of driving as this being the 3rd time shutting down & i do have a new battery, therefore that is not the problem.help! help! help![note: crossfire in shop 8+ months/ i am without my car!please let me hear from you concerning this serious & dangerous matter!it is the mercy of god that there was no accident during the rush/work morning traffic on the interstate, monday, march 23, 2015.help! please!
Back window fell out while in motion on street.
Glass rear window of convertible top detaching.
The door pull handle on the interior of the crossfire are sheathed in thin metal with a seam on the back side facing the door panel. This seam has separated (become exposed) and when closing the door, sliced my middle finger very deeply, causing a great deal of pain and bleeding.
My back window on my soft top was plugged out while am driving on motorway and i was able to hear the window coming out of the material its really dangerous how did they desinged it to be hangging like that
I was driving approximately 55 mph and the rear convertible window detached from the top.it appears that the adhesive no longer holds the window to the convertible top.this is a safety hazard that should be fixed by chrysler but it is not covered.
2005 crossfire convertible,40000 miles, purchased new from a new york chrysler dealer. Therear glass window has separated from the fabric top.the same model and yearcars have a history of the same problem.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer but they refused to assist with the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure was reported to the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 69,000. The back window in the convertible top is unattached and if driven, it could fly out and hurt someone harm or even to another car.
Rear window detached while sitting in garage in tennessee. Purchased in kentucky as the 2nd owner. Has only 32500 miles on vehicle. Apparently a common problem. Had to replace ignition three years ago at only 28,000 miles. Another commonly reported problem. Pitiful with well-cared for vehicle.
Called chrysler corporation about rear window separating from top. They said it would be replaced but i would have to go to a dealer for pictures and inspection. They suggested manahawkin chrysler dodge jeep ram rt 72 manahawkin, nj 08050 609-597-1097. My car was inspected and pictures were takened by dealer on 8/15/14 as per chryslers request. Invoice number chcs113759. I have a paper from dealer stating window is separating from top and will notify chrysler with results. I received a call from chrysler corp. Stating mine is not covered because it was not delivered in specified states. I could not understand the logic that certain states would be covered and others not when they were all made in the same locations. They problem exist on all the convertibles. I do travel and if i went by their concept to only cover states that have high temperatures what do i do when i travel to those states with the car?i ask for your help in this since this is a car manufacturers defect. It doesn't matter where you live the car has the problem in all states. Thank you very much for your assistance.
Rear window on my rag top has come unglued have read were a lot of other crossfires rag tops have the same problem. This is a defect that chryslerneeds to fix at no cost.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated there were no recalls and that the entire convertible top would need replacing. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Convertible top rear windows detachment in florida vehicle
Rear glass window separated from convertible top.
When traveling down the highway i noticed that the glass rear window on my convertible 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster had become partially ( only 6 inches where attached at top of glass ) unattached from the canvas top and was hitting against the body when i would hit a bump. When i got home i did an internet search about how to fix it, and found that this is a common problem with the crossfire rear window of this model year. I called the dealer at that time and they said it was not covered. I had the window glued back but it has sense delaminated again. Now i see chrysler may have been planning this fix for some time?
Rear glass has separated from convertible top for no apparent reason.
I have a 2005 chrysler crossfire.my car was parked in my garage and when i went out into the garage in the afternoon on april 2, 2010 i noticed the rear window in my convertible top was partially dislodged from the roof fabric.i called the chrysler dealer where i purchased it immediately and was told by their service dept. That it was a common problem and that it would cost $2,200 plus tax to replace the entire roof. The bottom line is that the adhesive holding the window to the convertible top is defective resulting in it coming unglued.i purchased the 7-70000 maximum care extended warranty for $2,226 at the time of purchase of the vehicle.my chrysler dealer has told me that this problem is not covered by the warranty.there is no where in the warranty that says this is not covered.i have written to chrysler corp. At27777 inkster road farmington hills, mi 48334, the director of damlier chrysler service warranties, p. O. Box 2700, troy, michigan 48007-2700 and florida dept. Of insurance service warranties, 200 e. Gaines st., tallahassee, florida 32399and have not heard a word from anyone.i have 19,000 miles on my vehicle and it is continuously garaged.for the past 3 weeks i have not been able to drive my car because of this problem.since chrysler is aware of this problem so much to say that it is "a common problem" why are they not making good for it?and since i can not find a mention of this problem in the extended warranty, why isn't it covered.i would be glad to send you a copy of the warranty, just request and i will send.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. The contact stated that the rear window was falling inside the vehicle. The dealer (suburban chrysler dodge jeep ram of ann arbor, 3900 jackson rd, ann arbor, mi 48103, (734) 662-3175) was contacted and stated that they could not just replace the window because the entire roof needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,246.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire. When the contact approached the vehicle, the rear window detached. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the entire convertible top needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 41,000.
As i was pulling out of my parking space after work, the rear window of my convertible fell into the passenger compartment of the car.scared the hell out of me.fortunately i wasn't going very quickly or i might have lost control of the car.got the car home and looked the issue up on the internet and was surprised to find that apparently this is a common problem with this car, chrysler knows about it, but will not do anything about the problem.their answer is to install a new roof at $3,800.i consider this a safety issue because a piece of glass coming loose like that in a moving vehicle can cause a real problem.
I own a 2005 chrysler crossfire. It is a convertible. The rear window has become unglued causing possible serious injury, had it come totally unglued it could have created a serious injury similar to what snow could do if not cleaned off before leaving for a trip in your car. I have notified chrysler and they will take no responsibility in the repair. Their reply, the warranty is expired! i cannot understand why this issue is not being taken more seriously? there have been many complaints filed with this same issue. A rear window that could be released into the rear of a highway or for that matter any road could cause serious injury to the driver of the vehicle or other drivers on the road. I hope this matter is taken serious and someone follows up with an alternative for a vehicle that has been assembled with faulty glue or poor design! p.s. This window became loose when my wife had noticed it was starting to become loose while driving on the highway doing about 60 mph. She then had to apply her brakes and remain at a slow speed on the highway which is a danger in it self.
I have had my car since 2006 however i have not been able to drive because the ignition switch doesn't turn.i would get it fix out of pocket but i only have 33,000 original miles on it, and i don't think a car that has this little of miles should have this kind of problem.
The convertible top will not open when the red light is lit on the rear spoiler button. If you drive 75 feet or so the red light goes off on the spoiler button and then the top will open. The top also will not close when this light is lit unless you drive until it goes out.
The glass rear window of my car is detaching from the convertible soft top. Having been to several chrysler dealers over the past two years, with much difficulty finding authorized repair technicians, i did not take it immediately to a dealership. It seemed to be glued in originally so ibegan with my local auto body shop who referred me to a convertible top specialist. I discovered the entire top has to be replaced which is very expensive. In researching alternative options online, i discovered that this defect is very common in the 2005 model and chrysler has extended the warranty in some cases. I reached out to chrysler, only to discover that the extended warranty only applies to certain "warm" states, not california. I'm not sure how they made that determination of which states are warm but not covering california which is one of the warmest states makes no sense to me. After hearing the many horror stories causing injury, i have now resolved to keep my car in the garage until the top can be replaced.
Yesterday, after putting the top up, i drove the car. I had not put the top up in about a week. Car sat out in blazing sun with temps in the high 90's for about 2.5 hours. When i started driving, i heard an odd rattle. I pulled over and checked the car to find that the rear window was separating from the soft top. It was about 2/3 still attached. I had to continue driving it. Upon returning home, i see that it is now 2/3 disconnected. I am unable to drive the car in the rain as my trunk would flood. Afraid to try to jerry rig it. Unable to call dealer until tomorrow as this, of course, is a holiday weekend. I am fearful of driving the car for fear the glass will become completely detached. Other than the attached wire that heats the glass for defogging, there is nothing that will secure it if it completely detaches. There is nothing to keep it from completely detaching. I do not have access to or own another car. I cannot just drive my car on nice days and stay home on rainy or cold ones. I am interested to see what my dealership will do about this. I fear nothing from other online comments. The car is only worth about $6k so the idea of putting a new top on it for $2-3k out of my pocket seems ridiculous. I love my car and want to keep driving it. It only has 70k miles and i am the original owner.
Back window fell out while in motion on street.
Driving down highway when the rear glass window of the convertible top came detached from the top and started banging on the rear tonneau cover. Luckily it did fall completely out of the car.
Rear glass has separated from convertible top for no apparent reason.
The glass rear window panel in my convertible top began detaching from the top.it appears to have been held on only by adhesive.there are a remaining 6 inches on the top that are still glued, but i am unable to drive the car for fear that this window glass will fly out and injure or damage anyone driving behind me.this is an extremely unsafe condition, and i have found that it is impossible for this situation to be repaired, an entirely new top must be installed.for a vehicle only 10 years old, with well less than 100,000 miles, this is unacceptable!

The rear window is falling out of the convertible top.
The rear window fell out of the convertible top due to poor installation and adhesive used.
Rear window has delaminated from convertible top. Left side of glass has come loose from top. Car was stationary and parked at my residence.
Rear windshield completely separated from top in late (oct)2010. It was replaced and has completely separated again. I am so upset. This is dangerous and costly. I also have issues with car alarm going off while operating vehicle. I have contacted crysler and have not been offered any assistance.
The rear window of the vehicle came unglued while driving and created a massive disturbance in the vehicle. Had i been on a highway there would have been possibly catastrophic consequences and i fear for those drivers who may have to deal with this in the future. Chrysler must be held accountable for this beyond the states that they have already extended warranties to on vehicles who have had these same issues.my vehicle was shipped to nevada - also a warm weather state, yet not part of the extended warranty? this makes zero sense.fix the issue chrysler - shameful behavior, truly.i am currently having estimates done to see what the repairs will cost and hearing that this will be in the thousands of dollars for something that is a faulty build.there are literally dozens of forums with chrysler drivers talking about this very same, very scary issue. Come on chrysler, be accountable.

If this had happened while driving could have caused serious injury.replacement cost is $2200+ as all repair shops stated same diags...cannot simply glue back in as will only last a few months at most.all shops also stated they see this on a continuous basis. There are literally hundreds of these complaints of this same issue on the web.
Back window came unglued without any cause, car was parked in driveway.
Back glass completely fell out of 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible top. The rest of the top is in immaculate condition.i have searched around and this appears to be a very common issue suffered by crossfire convertible owners.i have not been provided any assistance from the dealership, and it is clear this is a defective issue.
The back window has separated from the convertible top and has fallen out due to faulty glue. I have done a lot of research showing that hundreds of owners are having this same problem. Chrysler is unwilling to help any of us. They need to be forced to issue a recall and repair these problems because of their faulty manufacturing.
Back windshield fell out of car.the company has had a problem with this from all the information i can get on it.the car only has 40,000 miles on it.never have i had a car to lose back windshield.i'm on a waiting list for a new top (this can't be repair...has to be replaced) since july.the estimated time to get it in is oct. 29, 2009.this is a defect that should be recalled.i'm just lucky i wasn't driving when it popped out.
The ignition has locked up and will not turn, also the headlight coverings have turned very cloudy limiting sight distance when driving at night, in the rain, at dusk, and dawn, and during fog.
Rear window of a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible top has become unglued and fallen out.
I have a 2005 chrysler crossfire that i purchased 1 year ago and the rear window has came apart from the convertible top fabric. The tops are on backorder at chrysler and i have only found one shop in california that has a replacement, but i have to have the full top frame removed and shipped to them for replacement.the top alone is 3k.in the interim my expensive car sits in the garage collecting dust.truly not acceptable.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler cross fire. The contact stated that the rear window adhesive was fracturing and caused the glass window to fall out. While the convertible top was being opened, the motor failed which caused the top to only open partially. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated there were no recalls and that the entire convertible top would need replacing. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 79,260.
Plastic lens covers on head lights has faded to a point where light performance has degraded.
Glass back window falling out of convertible top and chrysler is refusing to fix there manufacture defect.this is a safety hazard to the driver of the car and other vehicles on the road.
I purchased my convertible chrysler crossfire about 2 1/2 years ago.about five or six weeks ago i noticed that therear window had come unglued.i took the vehicle to a glass shop and i was told that there was nothing that the repairman could do because the window is attached to the convertible top.he suggested that i take the vehicle to an upholstery shop.i actuall y took the vehicle to three different upholstry shops and all three told me that the top would need to be replaced.i tried filing an insurance claim.they told me that there was nothing that they could do.i contacted the chrysler headquarters customer service line where i was greeted by a rude individual telling me that there is nothing that chrysler could do.i am now at a point of frustration and disappointment.i still have 1 1/2 left to make payments on this vehicle that i won't be able to drive.
Glue on back glass has separated on one third of glass. If it continues ,the glass could fall out. If this were to happen while applying brakes, i don't want to think of the consequences.
I have a 2005 chrysler crossfire and the glass window fell out and no one can repair it and chrysler is no help at all.
The rear window of my 2005 chrysler crossfire has come unglued.the car has been garage kept and has about 10,000 miles.i purchased an extended warranty however, i am told that it is not covered.this is a manufacturer fault.i am told that this is a common problem and the only repair advise given was to have the top sent back to chrysler at my expense to have the reglue.i was quoted in the thousands to have this done.what makes them think doing the same process again will now work?
We have a 2005 chrysler crossfire,my wife was driving down the road when the back glass came apart from the convertible top and hit her,it didn't break the glass but almost caused her to hit an oncoming truck,we contacted the chrysler dealership where we had purchased it and they offered no help, only that we would have to buy a complete new top,i asked the woman how do i know this wont happen again and cause a wreck this time and her reply was,i don't know ! we have called everyone we can find to do something about this and no one knows what to do? the car still remains undriveable right now.

All of a sudden my rear window in my crossfire convertable came out. I cannot put my top down or drive as rain will come in. I was told this has been an issue with car. How do i get it fixed now ? crystler dearlships say they do not service this model anymore. So what can i do and can you help?

I bought this car with only 26000 miles on itthe back windshield separated from the car at only approximately 34000 miles and still currently hanging there. Called chrysler and they refused to fix, said car was shipped to some dealer up north, so it does not qualify to be fixed?additionally, i only have 40000 miles on it now and the key and fob, as well as locks no longer work, the car shuts off by itself while driving down the highway, the lights flash on the dash at all times.
Rear glass on convertible top fell out.
Rear convertible window fell out sitting in driveway on a hot day 85 degrees f. I had to glue it back in temporally to keep outside elements out.

Vehicle was stationary and the rear window fell out.it is a convertible with approximately33,000 mi. Parked in garage year round.
The rear window fell out of the convertible top due to poor installation and adhesive used.
The rear glass window in the convertible soft top has come unglued and is falling out. This is a severe issue with this make of car and chrysler refuses to repair or replace it. At one time, chrysler agreed to extend the warranty on these vehicles to 10 years or 100,000 miles but only to crossfires that were shipped to certain southern states, such as south carolina, georgia, florida, tennessee, alabama, mississippi and texas. They feel only the cars that are in these warmer climate states will be affected. My car is a 2005 model that i purchased as a used vehicle from chrysler dealership in july 2012, who did not tell me about this problem and refuse to repair or replace the top. It was shipped to mi in 2005 and then was registered in sc in 2006. My feeling is all of the affected cars should be under warranty as it's a manyfacturer defect. Now i will be responsible to pay an additional $2,300 for a new top that will eventurally have the rear window fall out again. Google this problem and you will see it's nationwide if not worldwide. A class action lawsuit needs to be started against chrysler and mercedes.
Rear window on my rag top has come unglued have read were a lot of other crossfires rag tops have the same problem. This is a defect that chryslerneeds to fix at no cost.
It's hard to imagine how anyone at nhtsa can sit and review all the reports on a serious manufacturing defect (and safety hazard) on these cars yet chrysler get away with a partial recall based on where the crossfires were initially delivered.bottom line:as of late 2011, chrysler will do the "right thing" only if one's car was "delivered" in one of several southern states -- in light of the fact that the problem seems to be related to heat.chrysler will not do the right thing if the same problem (the rear window falls out of the convertible top) if the car was delivered somewhere else -- as if the same problem occurring in those states is somehow not a serious manufacturing defect.or as if people don't move to other states during their lives.i will never buy a chrysler/fiat product again in light of how the chrysler company hasn't stood behind its product and repaired this common defect -- a defect that should never occur in a modern car.this is so far from the attitude of most japanese and korean car manufacturers that the difference suggests that it's flat-out foolish to by anything from this company.but when it comes to nhtsa, it makes one wonder why that agency sits on its hands and does nothing to require chrysler to extend its service bulletin to cover all such vehicles, no matter where delivered.rightly makes one wonder what nhtsa does that's worth we taxpayers paying their salaries.
The entire right half of the rear window dettached from the convertible top while i was driving at highway speed, and started banging against the top.this vehicle has always been stored indoors and not exposed to rain or snow.
Came out of a store to find the rear window of my wife's 2005 crossfire convertible had become unglued along both sides, the bottom & all but the middle edge of the top. We found where chrysler had a recall on the 2005 roadster (which i am willing to bet uses the same adhesive) but the dealer said it is not covered by the recall. Confirmed this chrysler customer service.
2005 crossfire convertible top back glass defective factory used adhesive came mostly separated from top. The part glass still had adhesive tore top. I had it glued but entire top needs replacing. Glass came loose while parked. The design and adhesive should have been better product. I have had other convertibles here in mississippi and never had this happen. Chrysler should replace all these tops. Back glass reglued with window-weld. It not perfect now because glass tore top when fell out. Love the car hate the top. Hope they will stand behind their name.
I have a 2005 chrysler crossfire that i have owned for five months.about two weeks ago the rear windowfell out of my convertible. From what i have found out this seems to be a continuing problem with this years model.have not seen any info about any other crossfire models after 2005 with this problem. Maybe they realized that there was a problem and fixed it from 2006 on upcalled to see if my extended service contract covers this, was told no it was a trim issuemy insurance will help cover the cost to replace but that doesn't seem fair to them, the cars not wrecked. Looks like two grand aprox. To replace the top, ( probably with a 2006 or newer top ! )
Rear window is separating from convertible top.could fall out.chrysler is aware of this problem and is repairing some but not all due to the state it was delivered to.i want it to be on record that they were informed of this safety problem.

Updated 10/31/13
Convertible rear window detaching from fabric top.seems to be manufacturers defect. No option for repair except to replace entire top at cost of $3000 - $4000 for parts & labor.seems to be numerous crossfire owners with same issue.chrysler not covering under warranty or helping to defray replacement cost.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire srt. The contact stated that the rear hatchback window fractured from the vehicle.
Rear window on convertible top adhesive failed, window fell out overnight.top is in good condition otherwise.this poses a real safety hazard, and appears to be a common issue based upon my web searches.

When traveling down the road i noticed that the glass rear window on my convertible 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster had become partially unattached from the canvas top and was hitting against the body when i would hit a bump. When i got home i did an internet search about how to fix it, and found that this is a common problem with the crossfire rear window of this model year and although chrysler admits the problem they are only fixing/covering the repair based on the vin #. If i would have known this i would have bought a solstice or s2000. I can't afford a new top which is their only solution of course at my own expense. I took it to several shops to see if they would re-glue it for me. The top is mint except for the loose window. C'mon chrysler man up and fix this for every owner not just some of them!
My convertable top is in excellent condition except for the fact that the rear window is falling out and i am being told that i have to replace my whole top in order to replace the window because of the poor design. This is now a safety issue as the rear window is about to fall off and no way to repair it without total replacement of the convertable top which is very pricey and because of the poor design will have to be replaced in another 5-6 years.

I as many others have a problem with the 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible rear glass falling out of the car because of poor workmanship. It was glued in with no other support and the glass just came loose sitting in the carport.this seems to be a major problem with this model car. I have been in touch with chrysler service department and they refuse to do anything about this problem. It presents a safety hazard and i am registering a formal complaint to atleast have this investigated for its potential danger.

I own a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible. The rear window fell out for no apparent reason. This is a major safety issue and should be recalled by chrysler. If window came out during a crash, the glass window could seriously injure the driver or passenger. A flying sheet of glass. Chrysler should be held accountable to fix this defect. There are numerous complaints on line about this. The other thing is the cost of repair. This can only be fixed by replacing the entire top for $2,000. This is ridiculous. There should be a class action suit on this issue. I guess chrysler will wait for someone to lose their life before taking action. Buy american, what a joke!!!
I have had 3 alloy oe wheels crack on my car ,it was discovered during tire replacement.
