Parking the car i must have hit the gas instead of the brake, the car drove over two curves, made a turn, and in my panic i hit the gas even harder thinking it was the brake. I ended because i hit a tree that stopped the car. The airbag did not explode. The car was totaled and i still have health issues with my head.
Airbag light and therefore failure unless fixed due to faulty clock spring and steering angle sensor with only 67144 miles on car.the clock spring was found defective and recalled on other chrysler models - should be extended to include this model.
I had an accident recently hitting a tree avoiding a child running into my street. I have injured myself hitting the steering wheel hard. I think my nose was broken and a week later is still bothering me, 2 black eyes.here is the issue: i bought this 2005 chrysler crossfire ltd roadster online from mac haik cdj in austin and took physical delivery at their mac haik chevrolet here in houston. My injury is due to the fact that my airbag did not deploy and my seatbelt did not lock. At this speed, @ 20 mph, the belt would have secured me from injury.where is the liability here for this? is it legal for a franchise dealer to sell a vehicle without a functioning airbag and seatbelt? please advise.
Ignition key mechanism does not work withoutmoving the steering wheel back and forth until it releases and allows the key to start the car.everytime the car is stopped, itcan take up to5 or more minutes to restart by moving the steering wheel back & forth while trying to turn the key.dealership has no answers. Says replace parts are on national back order. This has been happening since we purchased the car in feb of 2009.
I purchased this vehicle and not long after, the rear window of the convertible top came loose. I contacted chrysler about the issue. I've been verbally told that there was a replacement note that affected chrysler crossfires for 9 states. The vehicle had to be originally sold in one of these 9 states. I can't remember the 9 specifically but...my vehicle was originally sold in kansas (which is not part of the 9 states replacement clause), i live in mo which is covered by the replacement clause.the lady that i spoke to said that it was a humidity issue that would cause the window to unglue.... So, i argued that my vehicle is now registered in a state that they claimed has the level of humidity that would cause the known issue, but, she stayed firm on the fact that my vehicle was originally sold in kansas and thatstate is not part of the replacement deal../what are my right as a consumer? i have water getting in my trunk which caused multiple electrical issues. And now, i'm stuck with the bill or keeping the vehicle as is. Thank you chrysler.
Airbag light and therefore failure unless fixed due to faulty clock spring and steering angle sensor with only 67144 miles on car.the clock spring was found defective and recalled on other chrysler models - should be extended to include this model.
The vehicle stopped running, check engine light came on, the air condition hesitate to come on and the tire senure light stays on.
The rear window is coming loose and it's leaking.. Modules in trunk shorted due to water leak.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster. While the vehicle was parked the contact attempted to start it but it would not start. The contact stated theignition switch failed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 7,800.

Recall laminateissue, convertible top failure leading to electrical damage causing top to stay open.
2005 chrysler crossfire limited, 13, 800 miles. Stops running while driving/won't start up after stopping. This has happened a total of 6 times. 1st time vehicle restarted after 20 min. Dealer repair service said wait to see if happens again, maybe the theft mode kicked in for some reason. 2nd time i stopped for gas, car wouldn't start. Like you weren't pushing in clutch but you were.towed to dealer. Replaced clutch switch. 3rd time driving at 50 mph, car just shut completely shut off. Engine and all. Felt like hitting a brick wall. Almost hit by several vehicle including tour bus at time it happen. Vehicle towed. Dealer put in processing sensor. 4th time was slowing down for red light, vehicle shut down completely again. Towed. Dealer put new computer in it. 5th time. Stopped at bank. Left car idle mode while using atm. Car shut off. Started after about 15 - 20 min. It was after dealer hours so went home. As i pulled in drive the car shut off. Towed. Dealer put module and relay in it. 6th time. Started car in garage. Put in neutral to so car could warm up. It shut completely down. Towed. Dealer put battery in. The car has shut down while driving fast/slow/idling. In 8 weeks it has been towed in 5 times, spent 6 weeks at dealer. Unknown if vehicle fixed. It has only been back one day. Have requested area reps name, dealer/corporate refused name/contact. Spoke with corporate and dealer principle requesting a buy back and was blown off.
This serves as an addendum to our (and many others') complaints. The chrysler tsb that you have on file, only lists the affected systems as "visibility", and it calls for repair (?) when it actually specifies replacement as the only recommended remedy, at a typical cost of $2,500; to be provided or reimbursed to a small select group of owners, even though this failure continues to occur nationwide. This is absurd. We should note that the term "structure" as an"affected part" no longer appears in your e-mail complaint form (we wonder why?) all modern convertible roof tops and windows are intended and designed for safe, long term use in any expected driving conditions, thus the use of dot approved safety glass and electronic rear window defrosters, especially when conditions require the roof top to be in the "up" position. The negative results of any window detachment, visibility, stability of the vehicle, safe reaction by the driver, weather protection, electrical malfunction etc.,both immediate and potential long term, in a case where the vehicle must still be driven any unknown distance unprotected from whatever conditions possible, may well prove catastrophic and must be considered completely unacceptable by any standard, especially that of our u.s. Government. Your publication (dot hs 808 795) states: "similarly a person may.. Petition (request)nhtsa to hold a hearing on whether a manufacturer has reasonably met its obligation to notify and/or remedy a safety defect or noncompliance with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. If the petition is granted, a hearing is held to assess the matter and decide what corrective action should be taken. If the petition (request) is denied, the reasons for the denial are published in the federal register". At the very minimum, chrysler had an obligation to notify all of the potential (& inevitable) failure! please help.
Rear window glass separated from the fabric convertible top. Nhtsa has chrysler tsb on file for same exact defect, issued by chrysler in 2011, specifying 10 year/100,000 mile warranty extension. Chrysler restricts their remedy to only vehicles first sold in alabama, florida, georgia, louisiana, missouri, north carolina, south carolina, tennessee, and texas, despite the fact that all of these cars were imported from the same source at the same time. There is no difference in the product defect that has occurred nationwide. During a severe rainstorm the rear window glass detached from the convertible top allowing severe flooding of the interior of the vehicle causing various electrical failures to occur. This sudden and unexpected event caused an emergency stop in traffic that could have resulted in an accident. The residual damage from this event affects rear window visibility and electrical failures that involve the operation of the locking system, the anti fog rear window capability and other electrical systems in the rear part of the vehicle which i cannot access because of the inoperative top and trunk.

Automatic transmission jumps out of gear on downshift. Will not go back into gear until car slows to minimal speed or stops.situation has left me stranded in the middle of oncoming traffic on several occasions as i have attempted to cross traffic.beginning third week a chrysler dealership trying to repair.multiple electronic and mechanical parts replaced but problem still exists.

The glass from the top of my 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster sunk in as the glue from manufacturer did not hold up.it is under a maximum coverage warranty from chrysler and they still did not want to cover the repair b/c it is material.however, it is the way manufacturer made the car(with a soft top) therefore the warranty should cover the top even if its cloth b/c it is how they made it.
In mid 2009 i noticed that the rear window glass in my 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster was delaminating from the canvas apparently due to a poor adhesive bond. I was able to re-attach it myself after i was refused service by my local chrysler dealer due to "adhesives and the soft top are not covered". He cited "environmental factors can not be controlled" and are excluded from warranty service.this car was purchased in georgia at a chrysler dealership and is kept garaged. It is driven approximately 4500 miles per year, and is immaculate. The top is separating again and after contacting chrysler customer care, i was told that mine is excluded from a recent "partial" recall for cars only manufactured on "certain production lines" in michigan. Or originally delivered to a few "hot" states. Mine was apparently delivered to michigan. Does this mean i can't drive it south past columbus, ohio?this is a bald faced lie.every one of these cars were manufactured and assembled in osnabruck, germany, and shipped here.the window is about to fall out and will look very stylish in the grill of the car behind me. This is a safety issue and should be addressed as such. My car will sit until either chrysler comes clean on an obvious manufacturing defect or i can scrape up enough to pay for it myself.updated 10/14/11
Rear window became completely detached (loose) from the mounting surface. Having the chrysler group service bulletin (23035-11 rev a) on file, which specifies a 10yr/100,000 mi. Warranty extension (2005 model) along with an ample amount of evidence that this defect has occurred in all regions of the u.s., to a vehicle that was imported from only one source in germany; why has the nhtsa failed to require the chrysler group to cover all of the affected vehicles regardless of which state they were first sold in???
Purchased this vehicle in april of this year, from a chrysler dealer. It came with a plastic window, which i found out, is not factory/standard. The dealer refused to take care of it. Found out about the x31 and sb-23035-11reva bulletin, contacted chrysler about it, got turned down because we are the 4th owners of the car, and it was 3,000 over the 100k mile limit. I wrote sergio marchionne, the ceo of chrysler, got a review, but was turned down again. Told that it "would not make good business sense" to fix my car! what!!? the problem is widespread, and since chrysler has owned up, they should continue to be a good manufacturer, and take care of their customers, original or not. The condition is dangerous.
This is a complaint on a 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster that was just purchased in june 2009. I was looking in my rear view mirror on sunday afternoon and noticed a small quarter inch gap between my convertible top and my rear window. When i inspected the vehicle, i also noticed another gap that was on the left driver side of my rear window. This gap is about 2 inches wide and i can literally stick my hand on the inside of my car. It seems that the heat here in texas has melted the glue to the point that the window is becoming detached from the convertible top's canvas material. So, i contacted chrysler customer care on monday morning and they instructed me to visit a dealer to see if they could fix the window. I went to the dealership that afternoon and they told me (verbatim) "we don't bother working on this vehicle because it is too much of a hassle, we refer crossfires to an upholstery shop!" so, the next morning which was tuesday, i contact chrysler customer service again, told them what i was told at the dealership and they said "please go to a different dealership." so i went again that tuesday afternoon and this time they looked at my vehicle and said they would contact customer service and get back with me the next day. I received a call today, wednesday, saying that it is going to cost $3,000 plus tax to repair. They can't just glue the window back in, they have to replace the whole top. Chrysler also denied a goodwill replacement because it was deemed unnecessary, and my warranty just expired like 20 miles ago. The top is on back order, as i was told by the service manager at the dealership, so it could be a while before i would even be able to have it repaired. I am driving around with a half glued rear window, that can fall out and bust inside my car at any point. It is not only a hazard to me, but also to any passengers, pedestrians or motorist around me. If this should fall out while i am driving, i or someone else can become seriously injured.
Chrysler crossfire 2005 back window fell out, came unglued for no reason, requires replacement of whole top.manufacturer's defect so insurance won't pay and chrysler corp refuses to do anything to correct.safety hazard, unable to drive car, put top down, etc.cost to replace at my dealership 1700.00 parts plus 700.00 labor!!!!!help - make chrysler pay to fix!!!!
Rear window in roadster (convertible) top is becoming unglued / delaminated from the fabric top. If it comes completely unglued at highway speeds it could be quite dangerous.

Rear window adhesive failed and rear window glass started to become detached from convertible top.
Rear window in convertible top unglued on top and both sides and fell into car while parked.air temperature was above 100f.no previous problems with window leakage or sign of impending failure.believe this is part of sb 23035-11 rev a but local chrysler dealer unable to authorize repair or replacement.have contacted chrysler and opened case number [xxx] and am awaiting resolution.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I have a 2005 crossfire convertible! i spent a lot of money for this car and now the back window is ready to fall out!!! it has separated from the drivers side completely. Im afraid the window willfly out completely and kill someone while on the highway!!!!
The back window separated from the top.my understanding is that chrysler extended the warranty for this problem to 10 years 100000 miles but not on all of them.my car is not covered.makes no sense that some are and some are not.
Noticed the rear window has started to detach from the top.this is a know flaw and needs to be addressed.this is a major hazard as the car cannot be driven as is.
Chrysler reference # [xxx]tsb 23 035 11the rear window in the contv. Top has been coming unglued.there are several cases to support this.chrysler has no explantation for this or the reason that all roadsters are not being fixed/recalled.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Convertible top rear window became unattached from the convertible top.
2005 chrysler crossfire convertible top window fell out.
The rear window glass is coming out of the convertible top on my 2005 chrysler crossfire.there was less than 40,000 miles on the car when it started.went to the dealer to get it looked at and was told that chrysler would not cover it and that my extended warranty did not cover it.this seems to be a common problem on this model car from what i have been reading on the web. With all i have been reading i would think that chrysler should be responsible and fix this issue.
I am writing this letter to inform you of what i have been through with the 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible i purchased 3/21/08 from exotic motors in tarpon springs,fl on 6/14/08 i went to get into the car and noticed the back window came out/unglued. I called geico and that's where it all started they said i had a $500.00 deductible. I thought i could just go to firkins chrysler and have it glued back in for less. Went there and they said it was a manufactures defect but sent me to there glass person manatee auto trim inc. He looked at it and said the same thing manufactures defect and would not fix it as he has done 3-4 in the past few months and they don?t take. That in it self should tell you something. So my husband called chrysler on 6/16/08 spoke with mark he stated they would be willing to do a good will replacement, so the next day 6/17/08 i took the car back to firkins they put in a work order and informed me the car tops were back ordered. My husband the called chrysler 6/17/08 and spoke with millie who was very rude and told my husband under no circumstance would chrysler pay for that as it cost too much. When he told her just the day before he spoke with mark and he said he would do the good will replacement she said no way. I then met with my geico adjuster and he also said they would not cover it as it is a manufacturers defect. He took pictures and gave me his report, which states it is a manufacturers defect, he advised me to sue chrysler. I called chrysler myself on 6/18/08 spoke with richard who was very rude, abrupt, and indifferent and told me to do what i had to do but he was not going to help me. To sum this letter up i have contacted the florida attorney general?s office and filed a complaint. They have been very helpful, putting me in the in touch with who i need to help me.
The back window on 2005 chrysler crossfire fell out rendering the operation of the vehicle useless until repaired.
The convertible top back glass came unglued and fell out this car only has 29,000 miles the top and the car are in like new condition but chrysler will not do anything about it.this car was sold new in michigan so it is not covered by warranty. I live in north carolina where it would be warrantied if it was sold new here.this car was built in germany and the us selling point should not be an issue. There are thousands of people suffering from this same problem and to have to spend $3000.00 dollars to repair this when chrysler is already fixing others is just criminal.
Own 2005 crossfire and the glass in the soft top is falling out.chrysler refusing to be responsible.one attempt was already made to reglue the area coming unglued, but after several hundred dollars and 3 weeks later .. It still is falling out.i have been told by several auto repair top places that the entire top would have to be replaced ... Estimated cost $2500!!!i have learned in the last few weeks that this is a very common problem and obviously a manufacture defect and chrysler should step up to the plate.
The rear window is detaching from the convertible top.it has gotten progressively worse over the past year and the window could fall out at any time without a repair.this is a known problem with the 2005 roadster models, chrysler has refused to issue a general recall.as a result, my local chrysler dealer in seminole florida will not replace nor repair the top.
This is a 2005 chrysler crossfire we have owned and garage kept for 3yrs without any problems until today when the back window on the convertible top became delaminated. Searching the internet i found that this may be a common problem for other owners of this vehicle.i dont understand how this method of installation from the factory could be considered quality work because its just glued onto the denim cloth. This car has never been in an accident or treated in a negligent manner it is well taken care of and there is no reason for this to happen except for poor manufacturing processes.
Recall laminateissue, convertible top failure leading to electrical damage causing top to stay open.
I own a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertable with 55,000 miles on it.this mornign i went to get in the car and the back window had separated from the roof and was hanging by the defrost connectors.i took it to my chrysler dealer and they said they had had a few do that.the only remidy was to replace the whole top! ($2500 !!!)it seems the heat seal adhesive used to hold the window in place is inadequate. I checked the internet and four many reports of the same problem.is chrysler not willing to step up to the plate and stand good for their product?
The 2005 (only) crossfire convertible has a faulty seal bonding the backglass to the top causing it to become dislodged from the top traveling or parked.chrysler is aware of the defect calling it a "trim" piece. A vehicle traveling on the expressway or highway losing its' backglass is not a trim but a dangerous defect that must be recalled.models after 2005 had this defect corrected.
The rear window glass on the roadster separates rapidly from the roof lining and if not caught in time will completely detach and become a projectile to the internal occupants or to other road users.chrysler have indicated on their x31 recall for the problem the expectation that certain vehicles are warranted for 10 years/100,000 miles due to a manufacturing defect, but only for vehicles shipped to some 8 southern states.their contention is that other vehicles are not affected but this is at odds with the experiences of myself and many others.
I own a 2005 chrysler crossfire limited edition convertible. Aug 23, 2010 i notice the glue seal around the rear glass dried up, which caused the rear glass to fall out and potential cause sever problems for the driver if not caught in time. This is a known manufactures defect, however, chrysler will not own up to this problem. My top is like new and it is clear to me and others this is a mfg defect in the adhesive. In my opinion, chrysler is shifting gears to the consumer and hoping the issue happens after the warranty period. I am under the mileage warranty, however, i was inform the 1st owner of the car is when the warranty begins, therefore, the car is out of warranty based on the years and not mileage!the replacement cost is $3500 for a new top and glass. We need help out here and your investigation is greatly appreciated. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
My 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster the rear window is falling out of the top, i took it to daytona dodge dealer and they told me that the top could not be fixed it had to be replaced and it was a 2800.00 repair. The window is coming unglued from the top. I have searched on the internet and this seems to be a ongoing problem there are a lot of people having the same problem.
2005 chrysler crossfire roadster: rear glass window in convertible top separated from fabric.although the window has not yet fallen out completely, research on internet indicates that this is an extremely common problem in crossfires and the problem will progress until the window falls out completely.if this window were to fall out while traveling at highway speeds not only could it startle the driver to the point of losing control of the vehicle but could injure or kill anyone following or near the vehicle.this is a known defect by chrysler and serious safety hazard which they have ignored for years.
The back window in my 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible fell out.it was glued in at the factory, not stitched or bolted.repair shops will not warranty the work, stating that it will fall out again within 6 months because the glue they can use to repair the window is not as strong as what is used ikn the factory.chrysler says the only way to fix the problem is to install a new roof.they state theproblem is ramped and stems from a design flaw.chrysler has corrected the design flaw and does not warranty the 2005 vehicle.no warranty, no discount on parts, no split of fees, just...buy a new roof.
The rear adhesive on my 2005 chrysler crossfire roadsters rear window, that holds it to the soft top convertible, has begun to detach. I have called chrysler about the issue and they explained that my vehicle was not covered by the warranty and they will not assist. This is a huge safety concern for me because the window could detach while driving and possibly cause harm and/or death to other drivers on the roadway. I found a service bulletin on the issue with a bulletin # sb-23035-11reva that recommends that the convertible top be inspected and/or replaced if defective. Chrysler is not helping at all with this serious safety issue to help me fix it and make my vehicle safe for myself, and the others around me.i am a member of crossfireforum.org and there are many other people with this issue that have either gotten it replaced by chrysler for free, or paid a co-pay to help them fix the problem, but i was offered neither for this extremely unsafe issue my vehicle has. Please help me in any way that you can.
The rear window is coming loose and it's leaking.. Modules in trunk shorted due to water leak.
On my 2005 crossfire, the rear window separated from roof and now the roof won't retract with a rapid blinking red light on the roof switch and for some reason it constantly run my battery down.this car only has 32,000 miles on it.no help from chrysler or insurance, will never buy another chrysler again and will discourage anyone i know from purchasing one.new orleans, la.
The rear window started to fall out of the convertible top.this has a know problem by chrysler and they have a service bulletin on (23-035-11) on cars sent to certain southern states but mine was from virginia and the are saying it is not covered.this appears to happen on all chrysler crossfire convertibles ,there is a glue defect on all these crossfires and the heat from the southern states expedites the delamination.it gets just as hot in virginia.if a car was shipped to north carolina for a day then driven else were it would be covered, they recall makes know sense.this is a know defect by chrysler on all the2005 convertibles, they were all made in the same place. This is a dangerous condition to everyone and chrysler needs to replace all these tops on the2005 chrysler crossfire convertibles and/or extend the recall/bulletin to all the 2005 chrysler convertibles before someone gets unnecessarily killed.
2 days ago, it was hott here in vegas, my car is garage kept but had to park outside.when i returned to my car after about an hour, the black glass in the convertible top just fell out.it is unsafe to drive like this but i have no choice as the tops are on backorder and i am not sure if i will ever get one.i currently have to big blankets on the deck holding it in place as part of the seal is holding, but this will not last long.
The back glass adhesive on the convertible soft top on my 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster has begun to fail, causing the glass to separate from the fabric top. This adhesive is the only support for the window to the fabric top.the window/top connection currently does not provide a waterproof seal and allows water to enter the vehicle. Recently, the deterioration has accelerated and soon could present as a safety hazard when the adhesive fails completely and the glass falls out on a roadway.
Rear window is coming loose - one side has completely delaminated.sounds like it is going to fall or break.i have seen and heard that chrysler will stand behind it up to 10 years or 100,000 miles.i took my car to a garage and he told me that i should contact chrysler.if the top is up, i cannot drive faster than 45 mph without it vibrating.this is a severe safety hazard.can you help me? 12/26/2013
While sitting parked in my driveway on a hot summer day the back glass of my convertible top became separated from the fabric of the top as a result of adhesive failure. Had this occurred while driving personal injury would have resulted.
I have a 2005 crossfire convertible i am having a problem with the rear window in the top, in nov 2013 i notice a separation of the top from the rear window and tried to glue it closed. At the time it was a 1" gap i was able to seal it .now the window has fell out completely. I call my chrysler dealer (931-520-4121 in cookeville ,tn) and was told they wouldn'tfix because the car came from michigan, if it had came from a southern state they would fix ???. Its a good thing it fell out in the drive way in stead of flying out at interstate speeds or during a panic stop or collision. The glass is really hefty and could kill someone if struck by it . My car now only has 51,000 miles now. I feel as a safety concern for the general public this matter should be address in a timely manner thank you [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
Back window fell out while at highway speeds. The only thing that kept it from coming completely loose was the rear window defrost wires.
Back window falling out from poor adhesive to fabric top. Chrysler has a service bulletin out on these vehices, but only in certain states. This is a manufactures defect and the car maker should be accountable. This is very dangerous to others behind when the back window separates from the vehicle.
The rear window has separated from the canvas top and may fall out while driving. This will be a serious and costly safety issue.
I am one of those affected by the rear window falling out of the chrysler crossfire. At first they offered to get me a new top for $700. Goodwill they said. I told them i couldn't afford it. They wound up resending the offer and refused to help me at all. I try to reglue the window but it falls out again. I am in nj which is not one of the states they were helping people in. Please have chrysler recall all crossfires for this known problem. Thanks.
The rear window came unglued from the convertible top while driving down the highway. If the defroster cable had not held the window would have flown out, and could have seriously harmed other motorists. Chrysler knows of this issue and has issued tsb 23-035-11 which acknowledges the defect and will repair it, but only for cars sent to certain dealerships. This should be fixed on all 2005 crossfires. The vehicle is now undriveable and has to have the entire top replaced.
The rear window in my 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster became unglued and will not stay in place; this makes the car unsafe to drive, as the window may come out at any time, string someone or causing an accident.this car was purchased in nov 2008 with only 16,800 miles on it, and has been garage kept since.this is a known manufacturing defect, having affected dozens of these cars, as well as other chrysler convertibles produced during that time.chrysler has acknowledged the issue, but will only repair vehicles delivered to specific southern states, no matter where you live, bought the car, etc.
I purchased this car this year from a chrysler executive who has owned it for years. She told me that while driving it the rear glass window fell out. This was her daily driver so she had it re glued as fast as she could so she would have a car to get to work.she did not know of the tsb on this. Tsb-23=035-11 called x-31/adhesion. I bought the car this year and the window is loose on the edges and i am afraid it will fall out and cause an accident. I took it to a dealer and they do not know what to do. They said because it was already fixed it would probably not be covered. Is this true? i bought this car to be a daily driver, not a sunny day driver.
Rear glass detached from fabric roof (convertible) on interstate.fortunately nobody following me was injured.
Rear window fell out completely in the middle of a thunderstorm with my wife driving. The window happened to fall inside the vehicle but it could have caused an accident if it had fallen outside the car. She was lucky that the window did not fall on her and we only got wet.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster.while driving 30 mph, the rear window fell out of the liner.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the roof needed to be replaced.the part for the repair is currently on backorder and could be unavailable for more than a year.the estimated repair cost was $2,000.the contact will notify the manufacturer.the current and failure mileages were 22,800. Updated 07/17/09 updated 07/20/09.
Chrysler has recalled and/or provided extended warranty for crossfire convertible tops(x31 recall i believe) where the rear glass window is failing and becoming loose or has come out of the roof top completely.chrysler has stated that only vehicles delivered to dealers in select southern states qualify for this recall/extended coverage.this is a safety issue for all crossfires with convertible tops! do you wait until the window glass comes out completely while driving with the potential to cause an accident or damage to subsequent vehicles and or other property? no!this defective item should be replaced by chrysler for all crossfire vehicles with convertible tops. Chrysler should contact all registered owners and advise them as to how to have there defective components replaced before an incident and/or accident occurs.
I have a 2005 chrysler crossfire. The back glass is coming out. The dealer is stating it cant be fixed but has to be replaced.at a cost of approximately $3500.00. Chrysler is offering no help.
2005 chrysler crossfire convertible top has a defective glue for attaching rear glass window.after only 22k miles rear glass has detached and can only be replaced, not fixed at a cost of over $2000. The failure of this design can cause serious injury if glass separates at speed. Chrysler refuses to acknowledge this defect and fully support its product.
Right rear rim broke in half.this break was on the inside of the rim about 1" from the spokes.the break was around the entire rim.not across the rim; around the entire rim. I can provide pictures and still have the rim.
Rear window of convertible top came loose when car was moved from driveway back into the garage.
The back window is falling away from the convertible top. The adhesive is not holding the back window in place.
As i was leaving work i noted a loud rattle behind my head. I stopped to see what was causing it. The bottom of the back window had separated from the convertible top and was rattling against the body of the car. By the time i had driven the 4 miles home, the separation had spread to nearly half of the window.
Woke up the this morning and discover the rear window of my 2005 chrysler crossfire had separated from the roof.the car only has 21,000 miles on it.the car has been garage kept in a northern state.there is no reason this should poor workmanship/ quality.had this happened while driving it could have caused and accident.this problem has been reported by many consumers.
Rear windshield started falling out of the convertible top while car was sitting in the garage. Would have been dangerous if it came out on the highway.
Rear window simply falls out of chrysler crossfire convertible top. No support for glass other than thin strip of heat seal to canvass. Could be serious if failure at speed. Chrysler offers co-pay ($890.00) to owner for a new top so they acknowledge the problem.
Intermittent engine start failure relay replaced good for 30 days then intermittent engine start failure standing still and sometimes in motion city street. Replaced relay $567.00
The glass rear window has separated from the fabric convertible roof.i understand this is a known issue with the 2005 model and has been recalled in several states.mine doesn't seem to be covered by the recall but i have the issue.
2005 chrysler crossfire roadster rear window fell out of the top. This could have fallen behind my car and hit another vehicle and injured someone. I belong to a chrysler car club and found this is a common failure for this year model. I have contacted chrysler and am waiting for their opinion. I am told the top replacement is about $3000.00.
The back glass adhesive on the convertible soft top on my 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster is failing on the drivers side almost 3 inches across top and bottom, causing the glass to separate from the fabric top. This adhesive is the only support for the window to the fabric top. The window/top connection currently does not provide a waterproof seal and allows water to enter the vehicle. This presentsa safety hazard when the adhesive fails completely and the glass falls out on a roadway or turns into a projectile inside the car while driving. Very costly to the consumer to repair should be recalled as it looks like there are many others with the same problem.
I have atwo 2005 crossfire srt6 roadster that the rear windows have detached from the canvas and fallen out. This is the 3rd time it has occurred on both vehicles.the 1st two times the dealer/chrysler replaced the top with a deductible payment.of $200. Thursday, 5/14/2015 the window came apart from the canvas (3rd time ) this is a known problem in the crossfire community. It is a potential hazard if the window flies out when the car is moving.i am in current contact with chrysler as the initial date of service was 04/15/2005.therefore the vehicle is 1 month out of the 10 year/100k replacement by 1 month.under the tpa chrysler imposed and guaranteed for only specific states. (warm weather states)
Thanks.
Original owner car, limited use, garage kept in california (state of purchase).noticed that rear window in convertible top is starting to detach on one side.i'm aware that chrysler has an extended warranty for cars purchased in certain "high humidity" states, but california is outside that coverage and so am not eligible for the warranty repair, yet i have the exact same issue.
Vandalism to convertible top, slashed.convertible top needs to be replaced, replacing top by manufacture will take until at least january 29, 2010 from october.this is hazardous due to driving with a slashed top creates a major noise distraction as well as inclement weather problems such as snow and rain distracts driver and may somewhat impair vision etc.
Rear glass in convertible has lost adhesion allowing water into car interior. Car has been kept in a garage for the last 7 years, and only driven about 3,000 miles per year.....updated 11/13/15
The rear glass window on the convertible top came loose on one side and is coming loose across the top. I have discovered since this problem occurred that chrysler is aware of the problem and is refusing to issue a recall inorder to fix the defect. My vehicle has always been garage kept, and the top is in excellent condition.
The contact owned a 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle accelerated without warning and crashed into another vehicle. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened claim number: 312-27518. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 97,000.updated 06/29/17*lj
The back window of my 2005 crossfire has come unglued from the convertible top. It was a safety issue because it could have come off while driving and hurt either passengers or someone driving beside me.
The back window of my 2005 chrysler crossfirecame loose from the top of the car. It was only held together by a line of glue, nothing else held it in place.the dealership only gave me referrals to where i could replace whole top.
The back window is falling away from the convertible top. The adhesive is not holding the back window in place.
Rear window is delaminating. This has apparently happened to thousands of cars. Is there no recall?
The 2005 (only) crossfire convertible has a faulty seal bonding the backglass to the top causing it to become dislodged from the top traveling or parked.chrysler is aware of the defect calling it a "trim" piece. A vehicle traveling on the expressway or highway losing its' backglass is not a trim but a dangerous defect that must be recalled.models after 2005 had this defect corrected.
Rear window in roadster (convertible) top is becoming unglued / delaminated from the fabric top. If it comes completely unglued at highway speeds it could be quite dangerous.
Chrysler crossfire convertible 2005 rear glass has defective glue that allows the glass to detach from the canvas. If the glass breaks passengers could be decapitated. This is manufacture defect that needs to be fixed.
My 2005 chrysler crossfire's convertible's back window is falling out from the canvas, chrysler won't repair it, they continue to refer me to upholstery companies. I am very uneasy driving around with glass dangling dangerously from my vehicle.
2005 crossfire back window fell out of it while driving, creating a very scary and dangerous moment.the car has 8,200 miles on it.after taking it directly to the dealership, they said its a fault in the adhesive and chrysler will not replace it.
Chrysler crossfire convertible, all years.rear window detaches from the convertible top. This is not a sudden incident, but one where the detachment is gradual.the safety aspect of this problem relates to when finally detaching completely and falling inside the vehicle, the driver distraction could easily cause a vehicle accident.if falling outside the vehicle, resulting avoidance manuvers by drivers of following vehicles could lead to vehicle accidents.my local chrysler dealer has refused to correct the problem on my fast-detaching rear window, and has instead directed me to a corvette repair facility where the repair would be accomplished at my expense.the rear window problem has been well documented on a chrysler crossfire internet forum where members describe various home fixes attempted, none with permanent results.chrysler so far has not issued a recall for this safety problem.
The rear window is falling out of my 2005 crossfire roadster convertible. It is a glued in window and the glue has failed. We were told today by chrysler that it was not warrantied and could not be repaired. The only solution they offer is to buy a new top for over $2100. This appears to be a common problem. Not only is it unreasonably expensive to remedy, it is also a safety issue. The top could easily fly out, injuring a passenger or someone in another vehicle. Chrysler should offer a reasonable solution to take care of this as it is obviously a design defect and their responsibility.
05' chrysler crossfire roadster convertible.the back window glass is falling out.been advised that the glue was faulty manufacturer issue.the top fabric appears to be shrinking and pulled away making the window to come apart from the convertible top.this is not only a hazard to drivers & passengers but also to oncoming vehicles or vehicles following if this should come out completely while driving at normal speed limits.i am hoping chrysler- daimler corporation will have it as a recall since there have been many many many chrysler customers on record with the same problem.this should be 100% repaired by the chrysler or at least owners should be compensated 100% for repairs.
Glass convertible window on a 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster has become detached from the cloth top and could fly out of the opening.
The rear glass window is coming loose and separating/delaminating from the fabric convertible top.it seems the glue/bond is failing and i am very concerned that the window will completely become detached and cause an accident while driving.i believe this problem is a manufacturing defect and needs to be addressed by chrysler as a recall.this problem seems to be related to hot/humid weather conditions causing the delamination failure.
The back window on 2005 chrysler crossfire fell out rendering the operation of the vehicle useless until repaired.
Back window fell out of 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible.dealer offers no fix. Poor craftsmanship. Based on web forums, it is common and chrysler does nothing to support their loyal customers who have both these cars. Windows should not fall out of cars...42k miles.
Driving appox. 35 mph when i started to hear a knocking noise from the rear. Looked back to see rear glass on convertible top had become detached on the bottom of glass. Had to wedge a part in between glass and body to hold glass in place. Now not driving the car because of the safety concern and the $2100 quoted to fix it. Can't afford at this time.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster. While driving approximately 70 mph, the rear glass window partially detached from the soft top convertible roof without warning. The contact was able to drive to the side of the road where the window glass was removed in order to resume operation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who advised the convertible soft top would need to be replaced. The manufacturer issued a voluntary recall pertaining to the replacement of the convertible soft top however, the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.
I own a 2005 chrysler crossfire ltd. Roadster that has just reached 50k miles. The rear windshield has fallen out of the soft top and is merely holding on by the wires for the defroster. I have been told that this is a manufacturers defect but chrysler declines replacing it as a defect. I have contacted auto upholstery businesses to repair the window and was told that there is no way to repair this problem and that a new top has to be purchased which will cost me $2000 for the top and they must have the car for 10 days (include another $400 for rental car fees). Fortunately this incident occurred when the car was parked and not while i was driving for it could have ended up in worse property damage or a car crash.
The rear window has separated from the canvas top and may fall out while driving. This will be a serious and costly safety issue.
I have a 2005 crossfire convertible! i spent a lot of money for this car and now the back window is ready to fall out!!! it has separated from the drivers side completely. Im afraid the window willfly out completely and kill someone while on the highway!!!!
Rear window mounted in the convertible top breaks loose and falls. It could have been worse had it come loose at a higher speed, but in the end the major issue is now the large hole allowing water into the inside of the car. Chrysler has acknowledged this issue but only if the car is originally sold in certain states. This car has been in those states almost the entire time it has existed, but because it was sold in california originally it is deemed not covered.
My rear window is coming undone from the convertible top as is the case with numerous other 2005 crossfire roadsters. I tried to call chrysler care as there is a tsb sb-23035-11-reva to replace the top as well as extended warranty x31 through chrysler to replace the top both require the back glass to be separating or falling out.chrysler care advised that they were unable to help(on two separate phone calls) and suggested i go to the dealership for them to look at it.i printed both the tsb and the letter sent by chrysler about the extended warranty and headed to the dealer. The service rep advised that i would need to pay $139 just for them to look at a problem caused by manufacturers defect. Ridiculous! a number of crossfire owner have gotten their tops replaced without a problem. I don't feel that i should have to pay for a diagnosis of a known problem for which i was sent to the dealership.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the rear window became detached from the convertible top. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 56,000.
Rear window failure -- adhesive fails & rear window falls out.the failure of any window is not normal "wear and tear." many of these cars have experienced the same failure over the years.chrysler finally -- after years of complaints -- issued a service bulletin #23-03511reva in 2011 that, according to chrysler, covers onlyvehicles delivered in nine southeastern states.it extends warranty coverage to ten years (which means chrysler will replace the convertible tops under warranty).all these cars were built in belgium.chrysler had trouble selling these vehicles so it auctioned some vehicles internally to its dealer network, who were then permitted to get whatever they could for brand new "used" cars.mine went to a dodge dealer in farmville va and was sold to me (via ebay) with 3 miles on the odometer in mid-2007 or so. 33 mos. Of "new car warranty" remained when i rec'd it here in hawaii.when that warranty expired i purchased an extended "platinum" warranty.the rear window fell out of the convertible top three months after the initial 36 month warranty had expired, the extended "platinum" warranty wouldn't cover repairs.the car had approx. 8000 miles on it.as noted before, chrysler issued the service bulletin mentioned above in 2011 but arbitrarily excluded some vehicles despite the problem occurring in cars all over the nation.i guess that they thought that the problem would happen only in certain climes -- but there are more than nine u.s. States that get hot weather, e.g., hawaii experiences hot sun year-round.and mine fell out despite very low mileage and the car being garaged when not in use.i request nhtsa demand that chrysler extend coverage to all vehicles that fit the criteria, not just those "delivered" in nine of fifty states.the failure of any window is not normal "wear and tear" no matter where it happens. Thanks.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, a whistle noise was emitted from the rear portion of the convertible top. As a result, the rear window glass became slightly detached. There were no recalls for the failure however, a technical service bulletin was issued under nhtsa item number: 10042531 (visibility:glass, side/rear). The vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 40,700.
Rear window adhesive failed and rear window glass started to become detached from convertible top.
Rear window has started to separate from the top due to glue failure.
Rear windshield started falling out of the convertible top while car was sitting in the garage. Would have been dangerous if it came out on the highway.
Rear window fell out completely in the middle of a thunderstorm with my wife driving. The window happened to fall inside the vehicle but it could have caused an accident if it had fallen outside the car. She was lucky that the window did not fall on her and we only got wet.
The nhtsa must force chrysler to help all affected owners! what chrysler is doing is just so wrong! please help us!updated 05/12/14..updated 06/04/14....updated 07/09/14...updated 08/27/14....updated06/09/15 updated 11/23/15 updated 08/07/2017
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster. The contact stated that the rear window glass became partially detached from the vehicle where the convertible top met with the structure. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 50,000.
During a heavy summer rain/windstorm the rear window became mostly detached and fell inward into the car while driving on an interstate.
I came outside and found the rear glass of the convertible top had came loose from the fabric. The car was not being driven but just fell out on it's own.
Back window fell out while driving down road, in my convertible chrysler crossfire 2005. Called chrysler and was no help to me. Said there was no recall on the top. So i repaired myself and now the top leaks and did damage to the wiring harness. My auto insurance paid for the water damage but will not fix the top. My extend warranty will not cover the top either. I fill that chrysler should man up and take care of this problem.
Thanks.
While sitting parked in my driveway on a hot summer day the back glass of my convertible top became separated from the fabric of the top as a result of adhesive failure. Had this occurred while driving personal injury would have resulted.
The rear glass window in my crossfire roadster just fell out. The vehicle is garaged kept, has 27k miles, and top looks like new. After further research on the web this turns out to be a common problem for this vehicle and i would say a factory defect.mine did not occur while driving down the road but i can see this easily happening if it fell out while driving down the road with the windows down. The glass could go straight out the back.
The rear window glass fell out of the convertible top.
The back window separated from the top.my understanding is that chrysler extended the warranty for this problem to 10 years 100000 miles but not on all of them.my car is not covered.makes no sense that some are and some are not.
The rear window came out of my 2005 crossfire was informed this was a common problem, the only fix was to replace the top.the top is like new ,the problem is the adhesive failed.this car has been kept in a garage for years . There should be some recourse to solve this problem!
2005 chrysler crossfire convertible rear window glass loosened and fell out.it appears as though glue released due to heat by the way the glue was "stringing" from top to glass.contact with local dealerships, including dealer purchased from, without relief or solution other than total replacement.
The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire roadster. The rear window that is attached to the is loose. The dealer stated that the glass adhesive was not securing the window in place as it should; yet, the entire roof needed to be replaced. Report 1958523 was filed with the manufacturer who also offered the contact $727.00 toward the estimated repair cost of $ 1,400.00. The vehicle will be repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 34,900.
Noticed the rear window has started to detach from the top.this is a know flaw and needs to be addressed.this is a major hazard as the car cannot be driven as is.
Rear window totally separated from soft top, and fell out.
I have a 2005 convertible crossfire, the back window is falling out.i took it toa chrysler dealership and was informed i needed to replace the entire top for 2,200.00.the dealership referred me to chrysler and they wanted to pay for half the replacement cost.there is nothing wrong with top and i should not have to replace a top on a 4 year old car.i believe the top should have a recall as i have been reading this seems to be a common problem.if the windowcame out when the vehicle was driving there could be a safety issue.
I bought a used 2005 convert. Crossfire. Test drove in rain. Paid for the car in full $14000. Have had car 1 month back window is falling off. Called dealer would not help. Have put only 350 miles on car since purchase some of miles was from car being delivered. It is not safe to drive with window falling out.
2005 crossfire convertible back window must be defective, most of them come apart from the canvas and dealership won't do anything about it.
2005 chrysler crossfire limited convertible - rear window glass came unattached falling onto area behind front seats.top still slightly attached, thus preventing glass from falling onto driver/passenger area headrests.car is garaged, outside only during driving. Chrysler refuses to accept responsibility for an apparent manufacturer's defect occurring in many of these cars (note numerous reports of this on several websites).
I purchased a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible on 5/9/11 from an individual.after purchasing the vehicle, i decided to search the internet to see if there was a forum for crossfire owners.i did find a great site and started perusing.i came across a thread of other owners of the 2005 crossfire convertible who were having problems with the glass window separating from the canvas.the problem typically occurred in the "high heat" states i.e., florida and texas and typically surfaced after the 36 k mileage mark.since i live in florida, and this was a florida car, i immediately went to my garage and took a close look at the back window.upon casual observation, it wasn't obvious, but once i ran my finger along the edge of the glass and the canvas, lo and behold, it was separating!!!i was shocked that this was happening!!!long story short, after taking it to my local dealer, i was told that there was not a repair that could be done and the top would need to be replaced at a cost of $ 2,200.00.the technician said that he would contact chrysler to see if they would be willing to offer any "goodwill" towards the replacement.well, no "goodwill" offered by chrysler :( bottom line, i need a safe vehicle so i am having the top replaced at my cost.my local dealership is fantastic and they have offered to discount the replacement by 15% which i thought showed good faith on their part.it seems to me, with so many owners having this problem, an investigation into why this is happening needs to happen.this is a safety issue as well as an integrity issue of this particular vehicle.someone needs to step up and represent the owners of these 2005 chrysler convertible and say "yes, this is a defect and chrysler will need to compensate fairly for the replacement of these tops!!"the car i purchased was always garaged and the top is in like new condition ~ the glass delamination is a defect, not caused by wear & tear.chrysler needs to step up to the plate!
I was driving my 2005 chrysler on i-75 and the front windshield upper reveal molding flew off.it was a good thing that no one was immediately behind me.
Wheels have tpms tire safety monitoring system in them. Replaced the sensors in all tires and went to dealer to reset them, dealer charged $100 and said i had a bad sensor, wanted extra $80 to replace new sensor. I took it to tire dealer and they said sensors were working, but could not program the tpms. Emailed schroeder with no replies about valve safely problem. No one seems to know how to reset a tpms safety issue, so i do not have a flat tire accident. I thought that safety comes first, without needing a loan to fix issue. Right rear rim broke in half.this break was on the inside of the rim about 1" from the spokes.the break was around the entire rim.not across the rim; around the entire rim. I can provide pictures and still have the rim.
