Read complaints for CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE CONVERTIBLE (2005)

Bought a 2005 crossfire convertible in 2006. Was "new" but dealership put 3,000 miles on it. Security system never worked properly (car not responding to panic button, siren did not work). Was told by dealer service security disables the ignition, and panic button not working just weak battery in remote (which i did not believe). January 2013, car in garage,15,000 miles and locks would not respond to remote.unlocked car with key. Car would not start, and was disabled. Had car towed to dealer. Had $900 repair for new electronic entry part under dashboard. End of september 2014, car 17,000 miles, locks did not respond to remote.opened door with key. Siren went on, and ignition was disabled. Car would not start. Had it towed to dealership october 7, 2014. Car still at dealership. They believe it is electronic part in trunk, cannot open trunk. Will cost $350 to disassemble enough to get into trunk to confirm that is the faulty part. Also, told me there was water in the dash board, and other crossfire convertible's leak water into dash and into trunk causing electronic failures. Car was towed yesterday and was in dealers lot last night stranded for several hours last night. I have kept the car in garage since i bought it, and only drove it in nice weather. I do not know what the final cost will be, but problem of electrical failure seems common with 2005 crossfires from what i have read. I no longer trust the car. I never know where or when it will strand me. I paid a lot of money for this car. I have taken good care of the car. It is a poor design leading to these costly repairs and safety concerns (car can lock you out and strand you at any time and place). This can leave one at risk in many areas and situations. There should be a recall or class action lawsuit. The owners paid a lot of money in good faith and deserve to have a reliable product in return.the consumer stated the skreem module was replaced three times, and the central timing module was replaced.also, when the consumer went to open the door,

The common problem of the ignition locking and key unable to turn.there are complaints all over the internet and otherwise by crossfire loving owners who are unable to suddenly turn their key...and the dealerships charging well over a $1000 dollars to fix it, due to bad design.this should be a recall.

I have a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible, the key does not turn. My car does not turn on. The steering wheel is locked. This is a big safety issue. This seems to be a very big issue as i found posting from other people on the internet with the same issue. All the posting states that the ignition goes bad without any warning. Chrysler is not addressing this issue.i think the ignition switch needs to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, the electronic convertible top fell down on several occasions. The contact stated that the electronic convertible top continued to fall down between 2005 and 2018. Crown chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat (2120 chapman road, chattanooga, tennessee 37421, (888)454-8402) replaced the electronic convertible top in 2005. The cause of the failure was attributed to water intrusion into the rear of the vehicle. The failure recurred continuously. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000. The vin was not available.

Ignition would sometimes stick & not act like it should. For fear that i cold get stranded & after talking to dealer (bales motors - jeffersonville in) , they replaced my key switch , by honoring my bumper to bumper warranty that i had purchased when i bought the car......[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was driving on street in my home town about 30 mph and engine dies and does not start. I walk to a store came back in 15 -20 minutes care started back again. Drove abut 6 mile very close to my house car died on street again.i checked on cross fire forum other crossfire owner has same issue. Crank shaft sensor and sensor connector wire is not connected properly to the computer board. When engine gets hot connector wire gets loose and shut the engine downit happened three time in last two weeks i am afraid to drive because it dies all the sudden while driving now it is seating in my garage.

Car alarm activated while driving. It happens randomly while vehicles is in motion. Convertible top will not work.

I was stopped for traffic and the car just stalled without any warning. I had to push it to the side of the rode and wait 5-7 minutes before the car would start. I went to the crossfireforum.org website and with further research found that this is a common default with this car/engine. The crank shaft position sensor apparently becomes defective, after awhile, and randomly malfunctions causing the car engine to shut down at anytime until it resets allowing the engine to re-start. I purchased a replacement sensor from autozone for $55.00, it is an duralast #su4740. I purchased this vehicle in december of 2008 with 28,000 miles on the odometer and this is the first time this sensor has malfunctioned.

Headlights so fogged over they had to be replaced or the car could not get inspected.$947 for each headlight.glass separated from convertible top.no recalls or help from chrysler due to manufacturer defect.car was sitting in driveway when the window fell out.car is garage kept and has 62,000 miles.

Was passing on an uphill passing lane and engine shutdown.coasted safely to road side, no collision or incidents.air temp was ~95f and had been driving for several hours.checked on crossfire forum and this appears to a common problem.there are faulty solder joints in a relay control module that fail under temperature.pulled module and let cool, car restarted and drove ~60 miles to home without incident.ordered replacement part but am concerned this may reoccur without warning.

2005 chrysler convertible top recall.the car was parked in my driveway.the rear glass window had separated from the convertible top.i could not believe it. I bought this car just two short years ago with only 12,000 miles on it.a neighbor of mine has the same vehicle and the same thing happened.there are hundreds of these i have since found out.chrysler had a recall on this top and they replaced his top for free and gave him a lifetime warranty on it.when i called the chrysler recall department they said my vin# did not qualify for replacement because my car was shipped to virginia and not a southern state.that is pure junk. A defect is a defect no matter where the car was originally shipped to.if i had a birth defect would it matter what state i was born in where the defect originated?no, someone out there would care and not discriminate.give me a break chrysler.give good customer service and do the right thing.i sent a fedex letter to two of chrysler's administrative officers a week ago and have not received a response.i am now going to a local chrysler dealer who is going to replace it with a dealer top for $2500 with a very limited warranty.i can't wait any longer to replace this top.the dealer is being kind and giving me a discount because they know it is wrong that their company is not replacing this defective top. This is so bad.such a beautiful car.

On august 22, 2013, i discovered the back window of my crossfire convertible was detached from the convertible top. I thought my vehicle was vandalized. I contacted my insurance company and the police. The police inspected the vehicle and concluded that it appears someone tried to push the glass out.upon inspection of the vehicle from my insurance company on 9-3-13 and reviewing the website on 2005 chrysler crossfire complaints, the adjuster concluded that this is a manufactured defect and denied my claim.i contacted chrysler and was informed that it was normal wear an tear and not covered for repairs by chrysler. The vehicle was only driven for28,277 miles.i have a serious safety concern that there are over 25 serious complaints in regards to the back windows of the 2005 chrysler crossfire and not one recall from chrysler or the highway patrol.i am asking chrysler to pay for the repair of the back window on my 2005 chrysler crossfire limited edition.feel free to add my complaint to the others listed and i will be seeking a response from chrysler.the vehicle was parked during the time of the incident. The vehiclehas only 28, 277 miles, so this cannot be normal wear and tear.unhappy chrysler crossfire customer.

Adhesive on rear glass window coming loose, has been for months now. Window is now barely held in by top strip of glue & could fall out at any moment. Issue is covered under a service bulletin from chrysler but they are denying my claim because the car was purchased in a different state. If the window falls out it could hurt a passenger or even fly out from the car and harm someone else on the road. This issue happens to all 2005 crossfire convertibles due to a defect in manufacturing.

One night parked my car in perfect condition, next morning 5/22/2012, came out and the back window is becoming unglued!i immediately contacted two dealerships and they said they would have to send it out for a new soft top and glass window which would be about $3,000.are you kidding me! then i looked on line and there are multiple complaints of the rear window in the 2005 crossfire.contacted chrysler and they will not assist you. You reach a customer service person that takes the info and we will get back to you after investigation. Each time they call to say they are still checking into the situation, frustrates you more and more. I ended up ordering the window and top from a place the dealership gave me and am waiting for it to come in.in the meantime, i drive the car with a towel placed between the metal and loose window to prevent rattling and hope the window doesn't unstick from the top of which 20" are still glued!never again, chrysler should stand behind their products!

Rear window came out of the convertible top after purchasing 1 month earlier.sounds like this is a very common problem but there is not a registered recall for it. This is obviously a manufacturing defect that should be fixed.

Rear window separated from top. Leaks water in rain and is a safety issue at any speed. Dealer had me call chrysler for details on warranty code x31. Tsb sb-23035-11rev achrysler indicated even though this vehicle's problem is consistant with all other complaints being addressed by warranty x31 and the vehicle is currently being utilized in the state of tennesee where the "recall" is active the problem is that the vehicle was not originally purchased in one of the covered states and therefoe is not covered.this policy is not fair and consisitant.all 2005 crossfires were built in germany, therefore origination point or us state of initial sale should not be the indicating factor.if the failure occurs during the x31 warranty extension period then the repair should be covered.this is a $3000.00 problem.

Purchased this vehicle in april of this year, from a chrysler dealer.it came with a plastic window, which i found out, is not factory/standard.the dealer refused to take care of it.found out about the x31 and sb-23035-11reva bulletin, contacted chrysler about it, got turned down because we are the 4th owners of the car, and it was 3,000 over the 100k mile limit.i wrote sergio marchionne, the ceo of chrysler, got a review, but was turned down again.told that it "would not make good business sense" to fix my car!what!!?the problem is widespread, and since chrysler has owned up, they should continue to be a good manufacturer, and take care of their customers, original or not.the condition is dangerous.

2005 chrysler crossfire convertible top has defective rear window adhesion causing the window to become separated from the top. This is a common problem that chrysler tells me does not pertain to my vin number but does pertain to other 2005 owners. I cannot get a reason why as this should be a recall item or serious safety issue. Please let me know how to proceed. Thank you

Rear glass window is peeling away from convertible top.

The rear window has become unglued from the convertible top. The top is brand new has no leakage. All shops are telling me that i will have to spend $2500 on a new top. I googled this issue and numerous other drivers of the exact same make and model are having the exact same problem. Why hasn't this car been recalled? this is such an inconvenience and completely unfair considering my top is still in good condition.

Rear glass has separated from convertible top at the bottom for 10 to 12 inches.fear that the rest will pull free if i continue to drive.called repair places and was told it could not be repaired due to the way it was manufactured and had to be replaced.car is garage kept and driven 3500 miles a year, top looks like new otherwise.have informed my local chrysler dealership where i have inspection and oil changes performed and was told that someone would contact me.nothing as of yet.

Rear window in convertible top is separating from the fabric. Called chrysler customer assistance and they have been of no help at all. They are refusing to fix it and tell me it is not covered under my extended service contract. There is a service bulletin on this year car for this exact same problem. I feel strongly that this is a safety issue, if window falls out while i'm driving it could cause me to have an accident or window could hit someone behind me. Will cross my fingers that this does not happen!

The rear window glass on the roadster has separatedfrom the roof lining.i have been told that it can not be repaired only replaced. This presents a safety hazard when the adhesive fails completely and the glass falls out on a roadway or turns into a projectile inside the car while driving. Very costly to the consumer to repair should be recalled as it looks like there are many others with the same problem. This car only has 40,000 miles on it.

Rear window separating for convertible top/ fell out while driving.

Rear window separated from soft top.

The rear window separated from the convertible top. This happened 2 months after i came out of a 7yr warranty that i paid a lot for. I called chrysler. They said they are only fixing tops that were originally sent to southern states. So no luck for me--it does get hot in phila.the dealer won't do anything. The chrysler crossfire forum is full of complaints about this defect. This is very discouraging that an american car maker won't stand behind their product.

As many 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible tops , the rear window glass is separating from the convertible fabric. The adhesive has to be defective on all tops...now people are saying that 2008 are separating also....this is a very serious safety issue some windows have detached driving.chrysler did recall tops for some cars, but only in a few statesit is happening more then they have made it out to be.please look into this as that was not a fair assessment to only a few cars when all 2005 have this problem... !..updated 08/13/15

Pulled car out of garage to take on drive the rear window of soft top fell out.

Rear window has become unglued from top. Car has no damage to other parts of top and has been well maintained. This is a known problem and chrysler refuses to accept responsibility for all regions of the united states. Car only has 37,400 miles.

While parked in my driveway, the rear glass separated from the convertible top on the left, right and bottom. The glue used to bind the two together seems to have failed. After researching the problem the internet, it appears that this is a common problem to this model/year car.

My 2005 chrysler crossfire was on the ca-10 interstate and the rear window detached from the vinyl during drive. Was not able to move it while driving causing hazard to drivers around my vehicle and limited visibility.

The rear window attached to convertible top fell out

Rear window coming falling out

Rear window of 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible fell out of top.garage kept vehicle with 22,000 miles.

Rear glass window has become detached from convertible top. Otherwise the top is in excellent condition

The rear window separated from the convertible top while i had the car parked outdoors. I found the car with the rear window area open and the glass lying on the interior of the backlight area. The glass remained connected to the top by about 1/3 of the original glue. The remainder had come apart from the glue leaving the glass mostly detached.

Literally the day after the return period on our 2005 crossfire convertible was up, we found out that this car has a major defect where the back window falls out due to failure of the adhesive.this issue is widespread and is a real safety hazard.apparently the entire top typically needs to be replaced if this happens, not just a re-glue job.the car has less than 17,000 miles and i've driven it probably less than 50 miles since buying, yet now i am faced with a big repair bill to make the car safe.chrysler should cover this top in *any* case where it occurs (not just in the few southern states they have deemed applicable for coverage).i am in va, and that's where the car was originally delivered.anybody who says va doesn't have high heat and humidity is crazy.we are just 75 miles from nc, a covered state.this is terribly unfair and i feel like a schmuck.chrysler should be forced to recall all of these tops, not pick and choose!how can a window falling out of the car not be considered a major violation by chrysler?can the ntsb do anything to help?

While driving on the highway, i heard a rattling noise. As i looked around the cars cabin to find the source of the noise, i saw that my back glass panel has a gap in in it. I continued to drive, the rattling worsened and the glass panel was beginning to come undone. When i got to my destination the glass panel is barely holding on.

The glass window in the convertible roof has come loose allowing water to enter the car and damage electronics. It is a safety hazard as if it fell off driving it could have killed someone!

My 2005 crossfire convertible window fell out. I keep my car in the garage.

In 2011, the rear window in my convertible top became unglued from the top.chrysler paid most of the cost to replace it, but used another defective top as a replacement.as a result, the window is again falling out.chrysler now refuses to even discuss the possibility of any further assistance.this problem with the defective glue is well documented and needs to be addressed as windows flying out of moving vehicles could be extremely dangerous.

The back window became unglued from the top.the car cannot be driven because it can fly out and hurt someone.i saw there is a recall on certain vin numbers.

The was car parked and i proceeded to drive the car from the parking lot and the rear glass fell out of the convertible top.i researched the issue online and found multiple complaints about this safety problem.

While driving at 15mph, i heard a rattle and noticed that the rear window had detached on three sides. This is a known safety issue to chrysler and has been addressed by a tsb. However, this tsb is limited to only certain states. When i purchased my, i was not informed of its origin. My car was originally sold in a state not covered by the extended warranty included in the tsb dated 9/8/11. However, i bought and have driven the car in a state which is included in the extended warranty. I have owned the car for six years and it was one year old when purchased. All of the crossfires made in this year were made in germany. Chrysler has declined to honor the x31 extended warranty included in the 2011 tsb in my case. I do not understand how chrysler can refuse to correct a known safety issue. I feel chrysler should be ordered to recall all 2005 crossfire roadsters. I am asking the nhtsa to order such a recall.

The rear glass window of the convertible top became loose, separating from the fabric top over a 19-inch linear length, posing a serious hazard while driving with the top up; with the potential that it may come completely off while traveling at normal highway speeds.

The back window of the convertible is coming unglued.

The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible. The contact stated that convertible rear window seal failed and caused the window to separate while the contact was driving 60 mph. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 99,000.

2 weeks ago when i went to drive my car i noticed that the rear window separated from the roof. I proceeded to departed over the next day. I tried to reattach with an adhesive but it is falling. I found on linethat the company had an extended warranty for this problem,i did contact chrysler but the company stated that my vin did not match the covered vehicles.online i found that this continues to be an issue with other uncovered cars

Rear window adhesive failure in convertible top. Chrysler has issued a technical service bullitin # x31 whichcovers cost of repairs but only for cars that were delivered to certain southern states but, all 05 crossfires were built in the same plant in belgium and should be covered. Failure of any window is not considered normal wear and tear. Covering only some vehicles is unfair business practice.

The rear window is separating for the convertible top..reading on line it seems to be a very common problem with this year vehicle. I called chrysler like many other people and they are not will to do anything to correct the problem..again many, many people are have the exact issue with the car and chrysler isno help.

Rear window came loose from convertible top. Chrysler is only repairing cars that were delivered to southern states when new. My mom bought this car in pa and drove it to fla when she retired...car has been there since 2008 or 2009. Doesn't seem fair to me...only 27,893 miles! [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

As i was driving across a bridge on the inter coastal waterway in melbourne florida, the top piece of the metal windshield molding was blown loose from the vehicle and slammed against the top. If the top had been down, passengers could have possible been seriously injured. Damage to other vehicles could have occurred and/or injury to pedestrians was possible. I was not able to locate the metal molding.

The rear window of my 2005 crossfire limited convertible has almost completely become detached in the oklahoma summer heat at 52,000 miles. After noticing the tsb and the fact that chrysler did in fact state there was a problem with the glue on certain models, i called chrysler to inquire only to be told that there was nothing they could do since a) the vehicle exceeded the 36,000 mile warranty and b) i was not the original owner.i purchased the very well maintained vehicle in june, 2013 with only 49,000 miles.chrysler has acknowledged the fact that it is a factory defect with these models....it only seems reasonablethat they chrysler at least replace the "defective part."

The rear window glass on the roadster has separated from the roof lining. I have been told that it can not be repaired only replaced. This presents a safety hazard when the adhesive fails completely and the glass falls out on a roadway or turns into a projectile inside the car while driving.

The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible. While driving at 50 mph, the contact heard a clicking sound and noticed that the rear glass window separated from the convertible top. The failure could eventually cause the top to detach completely as the glass continued to strike the roll bar of the driver seat. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,000.

While parked in our garage the rear glass window separated from the convertible top.a phone call was made to naples chrysler and was immediately told that a new top was necessary and to come in for a diagnostic.brought car in for diagnostic and after showing them our extended warranty pamphlet was told convertible top was not covered under warranty or recall.phone call made to extended warranty people and chrysler rep.was later told by warranty people that car would be fixed under "good will" provision.however, chrysler decided to reglue the glass and not properly fix the problem by giving a new top as they initially recommended.also because the car was purchased in pa and later shipped to florida and has been there since 2006 the recall supposedly didn't apply to us.the proper fix was a new top.the fix with the so called extended warranty was a sham.

My 2005 chrysler crossfire was on the ca-10 interstate and the rear window detached from the vinyl during drive. Was not able to move it while driving causing hazard to drivers around my vehicle and limited visibility.

This bulletin supersedes service bulletin 23-035-11, dated september01, 2011, which should be removed from your files. This is a completerevision and no asterisks have been used to highlight revisions.subject:convertible soft top back glass loose and/or detached from fabric (10 yr. / 100,000mile warranty extension)overview:this bulletin involves inspecting the convertible soft top back glass and if necessaryreplacing the convertible top cover.models:2005 (zh) crossfire roadsternote: this extended warranty bulletin applies to vehicles equipped withconvertible soft top.symptom/condition:the customer may experience convertible soft top back glass loose and/or detached fromfabric.diagnosis:if the customer describes the symptom, perform the repair procedure.my rear glass fell out of my convertible while it was sitting still, i did my research and found out that this is a very common problem with the 2005 year model. I found that chrysler put a ten year 100,000 mile warranty on the top which is covered by the service bulletin listed above. I called chrysler and was told that not all are covered because they are state specific which is bull and they should cover all top that develop the problem no matter where you live, a defect is a defect no matter where you live.

I have a 2005 chrysler crossfirethat the back window is falling , i have contactedchryslerand they are telling us that they are only paying forars in the southern states but it is happeningin every state .they added 10 year 100000 miles .if this window falls completelyout could be a safetyhazard

When driving to a car showthe rear window started to come apart from the convertible top if i would of been driving (as was intended before this incident happened) on the nys thruway at 65 mph and this rear window let loose and flue out the window ,an accident could have happened or a fatality could have occured.

Convertible rear window came unglued.need repair or replacement of top

Rear window fell out.car was sitting at work all day.i'm walking to car to leave work and see the back glass laying down in the back.glue had come loose.chrysler refuses to repair, though they are aware of this problem.my insurance refuse to repair because it is a manufacturer defect.

Safety hazard. Rear glass window becomes unglued and falls out while driving. Could fly onto road and shatter or hit another car. Chrysler indicates even though i do not own it very long and have low mileage they cannot help with this that the entire top must be replaced at a cost of approx. $3000.00. It is a known defect and very dangerous.

I noticed my read window on convertible top was coming loose.research shows this is a common problem on the 2005 chrysler crossfire convertibles.it has come loose on one edge (right side viewing from back of car).

My rear window has come unglued and is dangling. It came down as i was driving about 70 mph on the hway and scared me as it suddenly came down. It's a 2005 year but has only 17k miles. It's garaged all the time. I am in the atlanta, ga area. What has been or is being done to get recall on these tops?

The rear window delaminated from the convertible top and is falling out.chrysler is well aware of the issue and has admitted there was a problem with the adhesive.they have failed to recall the tops of this car and it a serious safety issue.they are hand picking who gets replacement roofs.the cost of the roof is 2,000 chrysler has an x31 extended warranty that covers this issue but not everyone qualifies.the car needs a recall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!shame on chrysler and they're very poor customer service!!!!

The rear window in the convertible top detached while it was parked. It is partially attached but i am unable to use the car because i am concerned that the window will come completely loose and fall onto the highway behind me.

Attention: john abbotti am the original owner of this car. There is an extended warranty under a tsb issued by chrysler called x31. From what i understand, x31 says that 2005 crossfire convertibles that are under 10 years old and under 100,000 and delivered in any of 9 states are covered by x31. My car was bought in dallas (one of the 9 included states) in july 2005 (under 10 years old) and has under 31,000 miles. The car has always been garage kept. When we purchased the car the dealership looked nationwide for the car with exactly what we wanted and found one in wisconsin. The dealer in dallas, bought and shipped the car to preston chrysler, where i purchased it. Chrysler says the car was delivered to wisconsin and therefore is not under warranty. Even if the car was originally delivered to a dealer in wisconsin, it was purchased, new, in texas. I understand chrysler not having this car on their recall list, but i don't believe it should take that much effort for them to realized that the car was purchased new in texas and include this vin in the warranty.chrysler has agreed to open a case and i took it to a dealership today. I am determined to get this resolved in my favor. Chrysler has not said they wouldn't fix it, but is talking about deductibles or outright cost to me. Thousands of these tops have failed and hundreds were fixed for free. I believe my car fits into both categories...updated 08/26/15 the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired at the manufacturer's expense.updated 12/4/2015

My rear window on my convertible top came loose and fell out partially, the car was parked in my driveway.

The glass rear window has come unglued from the convertible top.chrysler will not stand behind this defect even though it is widely reported, unless the vehicle was sold in one of 7 southern states.obviously this is a defective glue problem and they should stand behind it.owners all over the country are having the same issue and although it might be more prevalent in the south, it still happens on northern cars.chrysler, stop this ridiculous pettiness and fix these cars!

The back window became unglued from the top.the car cannot be driven because it can fly out and hurt someone.i saw there is a recall on certain vin numbers.

The chrysler crossfire has a problem with the ignition switch locking up whereiin you can not get the key to turn the ignition. This problem has affected a lot of owners who have had to spend thousands of dollars to to have the switch replaced.this should be a recall item. I had to have a mechanic come to my home to replace the switch as i could not get the key to turn and startthe vehicle.

My vehicle has 30,000 miles, and is from the so called southern states. Last year the back window separated from the top.i called chrysler to request a repair and was denied.the car had front end damage when we bought it.we documented all purchases and photographed all repairs that were made.the vehicle looks new.but the window is still out and i have took the car out of the garage 1 time the year.chrysler is not standing behind their products.we own 2 dodge deisels trucks and will not do business with that company again.the window started detaching while the car was in motion, i slowed down and drove home, until we can afford repairs.may be never, new top $1500. To $2000.that is a little pricey for a 10 year old car.

Rear window of 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible fell out of top.garage kept vehicle with 22,000 miles.

Went to put the top up and noticed that the seal around the rear window of convertible is pulling away.

Rear window fell out.luckily, i was not driving.if i had been, window may have come out and hit a vehicle behind me or hit a pedestrian which probably would kill a person on foot.this is extremely dangerous.my insurance refuse to replace it because it is a "car defect".chrysler refusing to repair "just cause".this could be life-taking under certain circumstances.

Headlights so fogged over they had to be replaced or the car could not get inspected.$947 for each headlight.glass separated from convertible top.no recalls or help from chrysler due to manufacturer defect.car was sitting in driveway when the window fell out.car is garage kept and has 62,000 miles.

Glass rear have detached/fell out of top. I heard that was a recall help.seat heating stop working

Rear window adhesive failurewhile the car was in storage

The rear window separated from the canvas top.

'the rear window came out of the convertible after purchasing it one month earlier,' an owner reported to nhsta on august 25, 2014. 'it sounds like this is a very common problem.'another owner reported on july 29, 2014, 'the car was parked in my driveway and the rear glass window has separated from the convertible top. I could not believe it. I bought this car just two short years ago with only 12,000 miles on it. A neighbor of mine has the same vehicle and the same thing happened. ' i have since found out chrysler had a recall on this top and they replaced his top for free and gave him a lifetime warranty on it. I just got this car with only 46k miles and it happened on it

Rear glass window fell out (unglued from convertible top) driving down the interstate

I get off work, go to car to go home, back window laying down into the car.chrysler and my insurance company refuse to do anything.people pay $26,000/30,000 for a vehicle and then have to pay another $2000 to repair what chrysler is aware of and responsible for.i've read multiple complaints with no solutions.something is terribly wrong with this.somebody should be able to force chrysler to take responsibility."what if"window had blown out while driving causing serious injury or death to persons behind vehicle.

My car is garage kept. I went to visit a family member and the next morning walked outside, got in my car, started to drive off about 0.1 mile away noticed my back window shaking. I looked back and noticed my back window had become unglued on the left side, right side and bottom. It was still hanging on at the top by only a little glue. I am blessed that i was not driving on the highway or at a high rate of speed and the window become totally unglued. I had to place towels in the window to get the window to sit up in order for me to drive one hour home. I am not able to drive my car because of this and called four dealerships and two upholstery places to find out if they can repair this and if is under warranty. Two upholstery places got back to me, one quoted $120 for a temp fix that he cannot guarantee will last or replacing the whole roof for about $1800-$1900. Another upholstery place got back to me, $395-$500 for a temp fix not guaranteeing it and if it does not hold up he would credit me 80% of what i paid towards him replacing my roof for $2,400-$2,500. One dealership got back to me and knows about the issue, looked up my vin and my car was not made in a state that chrysler covered under the service bulletin and recommends replacing it with the part that chrysler assigned to the service bulletin so it would cost less, price quote $1,750. I am extremely disappointed that chrysler would not stand behind their cars and recall or fix the issue with all cars that have this issue. It does not matter where the car was made, the car obviously was made with a defect that poses a safety problem. I will not be purchasing another chrysler car because of this. Unfortunately, my aunt purchased a chrysler crossfire because she saw and liked my car. I also plan on contacting a lawyer and chrysler corporate office today to see if anything can be done.

Rear window is detaching from top.

Back window is coming detached from the convertible top

Vehicle was in driveway when i noticed that the rear window was coming off the convertible top.it was coming loose from the upper left corner and down across the bottom.it has since come loose except on the right side and corner.

The rear window in the convertible top simply fell in.

The rear window on the convertible top has come unglued and is falling out, the defroster on the rear window became disconnected from the window due to this problem making defrosting of the rear window impossible and hinders visibility. Nothing unusual has been done to contribute to this issue other than normal use.

The rear glass window fell out.it was parked in the garage and outside in kansas.when i attempted to put the roof up, the window was detached.

This vehicle has a design flaw.the rear glass on the convertible top comes unglued from the canvas creaating a very dangerous condition whereby the glass can act like a projectile traveling either forward, injuring or killing the passengers, or backwards, wreaking havoc on vehicles behind.chrysler is aware of this condition yet most of the employees i have come in contact with claim to have never heard about it.there are hundreds or more vehicles involved.chrysler has adopted a policy of randomly choosing to repair some vehicles while not repairing others.they have rejected my claim twice, while other owners i have spoken with with the same problem are awaiting repairs as soon as next week.they have claimed that they are only fixing cars in certain states.california is not one of them, although i would think that they sold many crossfire roadsters here.i think it is reckless and dangerous for chrysler to maintain this dangerous condition.

My 2005 crossfire convertible window fell out. I keep my car in the garage.

Rear window came out of the convertible top after purchasing 1 month earlier.sounds like this is a very common problem but there is not a registered recall for it. This is obviously a manufacturing defect that should be fixed.

Rear window separating for convertible top/ fell out while driving.

While parked in my driveway, the rear glass separated from the convertible top on the left, right and bottom. The glue used to bind the two together seems to have failed. After researching the problem the internet, it appears that this is a common problem to this model/year car.

Rear glass window is peeling away from convertible top.

While driving my car,to the coast on thehighway, the back window started making loud flopping noise, it scared me to death, i didn't know what was going on, i pulled over and noticed that the back window had separatedfrom the convertible top and was just hanging at the top. It scared me to death. I didn't know what to do, so i took the down down , because i thought for sure i would loose the whole window if i continued with the top up.

The rear window separated from the convertible top while i had the car parked outdoors. I found the car with the rear window area open and the glass lying on the interior of the backlight area. The glass remained connected to the top by about 1/3 of the original glue. The remainder had come apart from the glue leaving the glass mostly detached.

In july, the rear glass window fell out (part of the glass is still attached) while driving the vehicle on astreet. Unknown to me, this issue was a common problem on the 2005 model (the glass adhesive failed). Although chrysler extended the warranty on the top for 10 years, the warranty covers only cars purchase with specific vins. Unfortunately, my car was not covered or i was not notified. , the window repair (actually a top replacement) is not covered under warranty. I have proped up the window so i can drive the car, the alturnitive is to a new top. For about $2,000

The rear window is becoming unattached from the convertible top while i was driving down the road and began making a banging noise.

Rear window completely seperated from convertible top.car was parked in the driveway of my home..... Updated 09/30/15

Rear convertible window became detached from the top while the vehicle was parked outside on a hot day

In april of 2015 i noticed that rear window is separating from the convertible top. Since then i have driven very little fearing that the glass may fall out completely.

The rear window is glass and the glue bond to the convertible top fails.i called chrysler in august of 2016 when our window fell loose and i learned of an extended warranty that was never offered to us.they told me they had an extended warranty for the car but my vin did not qualify and it was only for 10 years.we purchased the vehicle on 2/6/2005 in plano texas.from all the research i've done the extended warranty should have been for all cars sold in texas.we never received notice.as i continue to research, this problem is far greater than cars sold in a few southern states and chrysler should be covering our repair.i've attempted to resolve this with chrysler multiple times in the past 2 years with no success.

The back window in my 2005 crossfire came unglued and nearly fell in while i was driving. I had to get off the road and found a way to get home with it barely hanging on. I called my dealership and chrysler only to learn that they had an extended warranty on 2005 crossfire tops but because my car was not sold in one of the nine southern states they would not help me. I was able to find someone to re-attach the widow on a temporary basis but it keeps coming unglued. I have been told the only permanent solution is to get a new top. I've spent 2 years limping along with make due remedies. Please help us.

Rear window came loose while the top was being put down. Called chrysler, theysaid that it was not covered. Others are covered but not mine.

The back glass of my 2005 chrysler crossfire has become loose from the top.it happened when i was driving down the road as i heard it bump against the car body.i know chrysler extended the warranty on this issue, but i feel this is a safety issue first and the company should do a recall to make this right.

The rear window glass on the roadster has separated from the roof lining. I have been told that it can not be repaired only replaced. This presents a safety hazard when the adhesive fails completely and the glass falls out on a roadway or turns into a projectile inside the car while driving.

The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible. The contact was driving 60 mph when the rear window seal failed.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection but was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 50,100.

I was driving my 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible with the top up on a highway at 65 miles per hour when the rear window fell into the car, which caused me to swerve due to the loud noise and commotion nearly causing an accident. Luckily, i realized there was no immediate danger and was able to maintain control of the car. This car is garaged and driven fewer than 6,000 miles per year! (mostly with the top down!)

The rear windshield has become detached. The car is located in indiana and there was no visible warning that this was coming apart. I have contacted a convertible company and they are quoting 1900 for replacement of the whole top. In reading others complaints i would like to know the status of the nhtsa's investigation of this issue. The car was in motion and the rear started to sound like something was banging against thebody of the car. This prompted me to pull over to investigate. Due to this issue the car is not safe to drive in its current state.

The rear window is separating for the convertible top..reading on line it seems to be a very common problem with this year vehicle. I called chrysler like many other people and they are not will to do anything to correct the problem..again many, many people are have the exact issue with the car and chrysler isno help.

The was car parked and i proceeded to drive the car from the parking lot and the rear glass fell out of the convertible top.i researched the issue online and found multiple complaints about this safety problem.

The rear window on the convertible top has come unglued and is falling out, the defroster on the rear window became disconnected from the window due to this problem making defrosting of the rear window impossible and hinders visibility. Nothing unusual has been done to contribute to this issue other than normal use.

The rear window separated from the convertible top. This happened 2 months after i came out of a 7yr warranty that i paid a lot for. I called chrysler. They said they are only fixing tops that were originally sent to southern states. So no luck for me--it does get hot in phila.the dealer won't do anything. The chrysler crossfire forum is full of complaints about this defect. This is very discouraging that an american car maker won't stand behind their product.

Rear window has become unglued from top. Car has no damage to other parts of top and has been well maintained. This is a known problem and chrysler refuses to accept responsibility for all regions of the united states. Car only has 37,400 miles.

The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible. The contact stated that while parked, the window rear glass separated and detached from the fabric convertible top. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 27,700.

Rear window has come unglued from the convertible top causing the rear window to separate from the top.

The back window of the convertible is coming unglued.

In late august, the rear glass window fell out (part of the glass is still attached) while driving the vehicle on a city street. Unknown to us, this issue was a common problem on the 2005 model (the glass adhesive failed). Although chrysler extended the warranty on the top for 10 years, the warranty covers only cars purchase in 10 select states. Unfortunately, our car was not purchased in one of those states. Thus, the window repair (actually a top replacement) is not covered under warranty. Chrysler refused to fix the top. Ended up taking the car to a local upholstery shop to have a plastic window 'sown' into the top so that we could continue to drive the vehicle. This repair was more affordable than the cost of an entire new top (almost $2,000). The plastic window replacement cost $500.00.

Was driving down a city street and started hearing banging from the back of the car.pulled over and saw that rear window had disengaged from the convertible rag top.have read hundreds of the same complaints pertaining to the 2005 only.supposedly chrysler has admitted it was a defect.unfortunately my vin # does not quality and i have 137,000 miles on the car.i have been advised that the window cannot be reglued and the only answer is a brand new top costing thousands of dollars.chrysler knew of this defect years ago and did not notify anyone.it seems to happen where the weather is warm.it was close to 100 degrees when this happened.i was getting ready to get on the highway and who knows the damage it would have caused my car and another car driving behind me if the window had come off.if i had been made aware, i would have had it checked.why has there not been a recall?

The rear window of the convertible top has come loose.the adhesive failed.this distorts the rear view presenting a safety hazard. This is manufacturing defect and should be fixed them.

The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible. The contact stated that the rear window became detached. As a result, the trunk would become filled with water whenever it would rain.the contact spoke with the manufacturer and was told that the component was not under warranty, but wanted the vehicle inspected to see what caused the failure. The contact referenced nhtsa item number: 10042531 (visibility) that was supposed to cover and correct the problem for 10 years and 100,000 miles, but the manufacturer advised that the vehicle was not covered because it was not registered in a southern state. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 48,000 and the current mileage was 51,000.

Leaving my driveway ,going to a marion n.y. Car show ,doing about 45 mph on the street, louder noise than usual was heard and looked to the rear of vehicle with my rear view mirror and seen that the rear window came undone.could have hurt or killed someone if i would been driving on the nys thruway at a ,(conciderally faster rate of speed posted on the thruway.)vehicle has approximately ,50,000 miles regestered on speedometer.

Pulled car out of garage to take on drive the rear window of soft top fell out.

The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible. The contact stated that while parked, the rear window became completely detached from the mounting surface. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.

The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible. The contact stated that the rear glass separated from the convertible canvas. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 8,800.

The contact owns a 2005 chrysler crossfire convertible.the contact stated that the rear glass window separated from the convertible top, which could eventually detach completely.the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 45,000.the vin was unavailable.

The rear window of the convertible, the adhesive has failed and the back window is ready to fall out.the bottom of the window has completely come unglued. I am afraid to drive my car very far, i am afraid the rear window is going to fall out. I have researched this problem and have learned that chrysler has admitted to this problem. There is a bulletin number{sb-23035-11r}for this problem. I have called the local chrysler dealership and got the run around. I then called chrysler complaint dept. And still got no where. The more i research the more i find out. Chrysler is only fixing a select few. Under the equal protection law, chrysler is not allowed to just select a few, but instead should be fixing all, since they have admitted there is a problem with the back window falling out and adhesive not holding.

The glass rear window in my low mileage pampered chrysler crossfire roadster simply fell out.the bonding adhesive used to seal the window in place failed without advance symptoms or warning.

Went out to my car and found the rear window glass had fallen out.bonding adhesive failure.chrysler had an illogical and arbitrary tsb set up to replace the convertible tops with rear window adhesive failure but it only covered 2005 model year roadsters and a very limited number of cars that were originally delivered to dealers in a nine selected states.the reality is that all chrysler crossfire roadsters from 2005 to 2008 model years will eventually have their rear window glass fall out due to the failure of the bonding adhesive.chrysler's "band aide" fix was woefully inadequate and inexplicably limited.

Rear window separated from soft top.
