Airbag light comes on while driving.chrysler made several attemts to fix.the last time it came on (june 2000) they found trouble code in computer but could not find anything wrong. It seems to happen only in warm weather.dealer told me they could not guarantee that airbag would work in an accident.

The vehicle suddenly accelerated when the consumer attempted to park the vehicle which resulted in a crash. Upon impact the air bags failed to deploy.*nlm

As i was driving my air ag was released. In doing so my arm was hurt due to the air being developed.prior to that happening anytime i would park my car and set the alarm it wouldn't lock or unlock then it would reset my radio and light would start to flicker.

Vehicle suddenly accelerated after applying brakes, after shifting from reverse to drive vehicle took off and ran into several trees/ a concrete wall, and two other trees before stopping. Dealer and manufacturer were notified. Consumer stated vehicle was totalled, also airbags did not deploy.

I read on the internet under 2000 chrysler concorde that there is a master brake issue if you don't have abs brakes. It affects the stopping and the brakes constantly rub. That is the main concern i have with my car.

Ive been informed of a lot of recalls on my car and would like them fixed due to safety issues.

There was no accident involved.all of a sudden the air bag light went on and it started to ding on and off.took to mechanic who took to chrysler dealer who said there was a recall back in 2000 regarding the fact that there was a recall concerning the seat belts affecting the air bag light.no one could find anything wrong with the car except the air bag light continues to go on even when the seat belts are not connected.it is really bothering me as i drive and this noise keeps binging and the light stays on.what is the solution???

While driving 50 mph consumer's vehicle was involved in a frontal collision. Upon impact, both frontal air bags failed to deploy. Driver sustained minor injuries, and was transported to a hospital. Vehicle was towed to a body shop for inspection.......driver sustained a broken nose, requiring two surgeries to date and will require further work.

The consumer stated the clock spring failed without warning. As a result the air bag became inoperative.please provide additional information.

The seat latch failed during a rear end collision, as a result the driver was unable to steer the vehicle clear of any other vehicles and subsequently hit two other vehicles, the right front portion of the vehicle was heavily damaged but the passenger air bag did not deploy.nlm

Dt:deer ran in front of car and the steering wheel would not turn the vehicle. She lost control of vehicle and it hit some trees. Upon impact, the front drivers or passenger air bags did not deploy. It happened without warning. Dealer/ manufacturer have not been contacted yet.

While driving between 40-50 mphhit another vehicle head-on, and neither airbag deployed. No injuries, damage to vehicle unknown.

The headlights work intermittently, making the ability to see the road difficult at night, and increasing the risk ofa crash. Owner will contact manufacturer.this condition also existwhen the vehicle is turned off.also the dashboard lights would flicker intermittently.

I own a 2000 chrysler concorde. I have a problem that the interior lights on the door and inside come on for no apparent reason. I have taken the vehicle to shops to find the problem but the lights never come on. Frustrating is putting it lightly. The lights have come on while the vehicle is powered off and has drained my car battery. I have been dealing with this problem for quite some time. This on and off with the interior lights has been going on now for three + years. Good thing i own another vehicle that is not a chrysler product.

The consumer was at a gas station filling up the vehicle when it's engine locked up.the consumer went to start the vehicle but it only made a clicking sound.owner had the vehicle towed.

2000 concorde~this will be the fourth time in less than a year my car has been in the shop for a/c repair. It will just all of a sudden stop cooling.the first time, 08/2004, it held a charge and chrysler couldn't find a leak or problem anywhere. The second time, 04/2005,chrysler couldn't find anything wrong again, so they suggested replacing the evaporator coil (they weren't positive if this was the problem or not since the e. Coil seemed "o.k.") to replace the e. Coil it would have cost $1,100! so, chrysler refers me to a local, very reputable, auto a/c business. We take it there, 04/2005,the a/c holds a charge all night and they can't find any leaks anywhere, plus there is nothing wrong with the evaporator coil. Today is a month later and my a/c is not working again! i think chrysler should fix the problem at no charge.

Turn lights off car cuts off.

On several occasions, the engine and electronics have completely shutdown while driving 10 to 40 mph, especially during wet weather.it was determined that the problem is caused when the battery gets wet and temporarily shortens out the electrical system.the battery is located in a low location, forward of the passenger-side front tire where it can get wet.consumer recommends a design change to prevent the battery terminals from becoming wet.*scc

The vehicles battery light illuminated at 65 mph then the engine died.thedealer stated that the battery cable shorted out between the battery and the alternator.*nlm

Chrysler concorde 2000engine seized at 69000 miles too much money to repair timing belt/chain replaced at 55000 milesdoor locks replaced ignition switch replaced engine quit with family in car during 65 mph.

I was leaving work when the incident occurred and my life literally flashed in front of my eyes . I entered the freeway via the merge lane at approximately 30 mph. When i entered the freeway i slowly increased my speed to 50 mph. After approximately 3 miles on the freeway the engine made a loud knocking noise and shut off. At this point i lost all control of the vehicle, i could not steer. My vehicle scrapped off the jersey barrier and i pushed the brake pedal but the vehicle would not stop. I then pushed on the brake pedal as hard as i could causing me to skid sideways in the middle of the road. There was a vehicle behind me that had to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting me and in doing so he collided with another vehicle. I came to a stop in the middle of the road facing the wrong way on the road. Luckily there were no injuries but this could have been way worst. I took the vehicle to a mechanic who advised me that the engine failed due to sludge buildup in the engine. He also stated that this is a common problem with this engine made by chrysler. I have changed my oil every 3k miles and i have paperwork to prove this. I cannot for life of me understand how a knowing person of this problem can turn an eye to it without doing something about it. This situation could have gone the other way, can we please do something before it does. What if it happens to your father or your mother or your kids. There has to be something we can do here!thanks

I was driving at 40 mph on a busy highway and my engine shut off.i was able to go to the shoulder of the road and avoid any traffic problems.had my vehicle towed to the repair shop , and they indicated that my engine was blown and needed replacement.i only had 82,000 miles and changed my oil 3 to 4 times a year.this was well within the guidlines.had my car towed to the dealer and they were great.they set up a communication with chrysler and instead of having to pay $8,100 for an engine replacement, they offerred to pay $7,000 and i had to pay $1,000.i was happy with the result, however, i don't know why i should have liable for any amount.

Chrysler 2000 concord engine failed (locked up due to sludge buildup) 5 minutes after pulling it into my mechanics driveway.has bee in repair for three months.could have been fatal if i would have driven a little farther.

The contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde.the contact's husband heard strange noises while driving 35 mph.the vehicle was driven to a garage and the mechanic stated that the engine needed to be replaced.he referred to it as catastrophic engine failure.the manufacturer has not been notified.the purchase date was unknown.the current mileage was 52,850 and failure mileage was approximately 52,845.

While driving engine blew up, heard a loud clanging noise. The dashboard lights illuminated. Vehicle completely shut down.

While driving 65 mph vehicle stalled.consumer pulled over and had the vehicle towed.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

When driving 20 mph engine dropped.vehicle was towed.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Engine failure @70,000 miles .seems like a common problem for 2.7l engines in concorde, interpide, sebring and stratus. Regular oil changes every 3000 miles, belts changed car has been babied. Car seized while taking in for oil change and oil light came on. With no other indications of problems.

1) timing chain failed @72000 miles without warning (chrysler repaired after giving me hell for two weeks extended warranty ran out @ 75000 miles2)last week the engine failed without any warning at 76000 miles.chrysler will not do anything the extended warranty is over.

Upon starting vehicle consumer noticed a loud popping sound coming from under vehicle. Consumerrestarted vehicle andengine would not turn over.

Dt: the caller statedcar was idling up while driving, and then it stalled.this happened about 20 times while driving.the vehicle was taken to the dealerwho indicated that the cam sensor and computer throttle sensor were the cause of the failure. The tie-rod ends also failed. The estimated costto replace the sensors was $300-$400. The car has a warranty, but this problem was not covered under the warranty.

While drivingengine shut off. Vehicle had to be towed to the dealer.after inspecting the vehicle sludge was found in the oil, and the engine needed to be replaced. Vehicle was maintained as theowner's manual required. The consumer stated that the temperature at the time of failure was in the low 20's an she is 84 years old.*tc

Dt*: the contact stated that after the purchase of the vehicle there were problems with the brakeswhich were caused by improper installation of the brake line. The engine also made several clunky noises.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed the brakeline was installed improperly and oil sludge build up contaminated the engine causing the problems.on a second visit to the dealer the engine began to smoke indicating a blowout.the dealer determined the blow out was due to poor maintenance. The components affected were the timing chain, the control panel and the engine.

While driving a loud noise was heard coming from the front. Vehicle started shaking. Driver's side front wheel sheared off. Consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic informedconsumer that the cause had not been determined .check engine light on.*tc

The consumer was at a gas station filling up the vehicle when it's engine locked up.the consumer went to start the vehicle but it only made a clicking sound.owner had the vehicle towed.

Intermittently while driving at any speedvehicle decelerated then accelerated on its own.tvehicle reacted as if the brakes were depressed, and then the accelerator.this problemoccurred more than twenty times since may of 2004.

Complete 2.7l engine failure at 87,000 miles. Oil changes occurred every 3,000 miles (more than the recommendation by the manufacturer). Schedule a in the owners manual recommends oil changes every 7500 miles under "normal" operating conditions. Schedule b recommends oil changes every 3000 miles if you operate your vehicle under one or more of the following conditions: 1. Day and night temperatures are below freezing or 2. Frequent stop and go driving or 3. Frequent long periods of engine idling or 4. Frequent short trips of less than 5 miles or 5. Frequent operation at sustained high speeds during hot weather, above 90 degrees fahrenheit or 6. Frequent trailer towing or &. Taxi, police or delivery service, non of which apply to our situation and we still changed the oil every 3000 miles. Without any indication of a problem, the engine shut down on the highway traveling at 70 mph placing us in a very dangerous situation trying to coast to a safe place. The car was towed to a closed chrysler dealership on a saturday evening and we were stranded trying to find a rental car. The chrysler dealership stated the next monday that the engine needed to be replaced at a cost of $7400. Considering that the balance of the car loan is $6000, it is not feasible to repair the car at that cost. Unfortunately, we are still making payments on this car that we cannot drive and we are also paying a storage fee since we are unable to keep a broken down car at our residence. At the same time we have been paying for a rental car until we find another vehicle. I contacted chrysler customer relations dept. 1/11/06 and spoke with a screener who gave me a reference number and passed me on to chrysler rep. #177 only to be told by chrysler rep. Id#177 that it's not their problem, it's our problem.

I have a 2000 concord, kept in mint condition, oil changed every 3 to 3.5kjust turned 80k. While picking my fiancee from the hospital on the x wat, i heard a click kind of sound from the engine, i exited the ramp and pulled over, the engine w3as making a squeaking sound, all equipment on this car is of oem. We had it towed home . It appeared that the oil sending unitwas squirting oil, i was told that i needed an engine replacement. Contacted chrysler corp.via email, was told that it was out of warrently. The car is sitting, i can barely keep up my house payments, yet an engine. Have to worry about borrowing cars from friends to get to work. I have taken extra care of this car so it would last me. All i ask is for a little help. I am in despair.

While driving up anddown a hill at 45 mph vehicle hesitated, andenginebucked followed by the engine warning light coming on , before the vehicle stalled. Vehicle was towed to the dealership, who indicated after inspection engine blew out.

Car just quit running in the middle of the interstate and this was after engine was replaced in jan. 2008.

2000 chrysler concorde, 2.7 liter enginehada engine failure (water pump, causing jump time, causing blown engine)within seconds causing total loss of power brakes, power steering at 70 mph on i-94 at north river road. I was lucky to maintain control of vehicle. I have since discovered the 2.7 liter engine has had many similar problems due to poor design that causes a buildup of sludge inengine.

The vehicle stalled while driving, the consumer tried to restart the vehicle but was unable to do so.the consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer.the mechanic informed the driver that the engine needed to be replaced due to a blown head gasket.please provide additional information.

I bought my car brand new from the dodge/chrysler dealership.i was driving when i heard a ticking coming from the engine, i used my cellphone to call my mechanic who stated that it was probably my timing chain but that if it's just ticking it's not imminent danger of breaking.i arrived to work and upon leaving work, i went to start the car and it would not start.it made a grinding sound, i saw smoke come from under the hood.i called a tow truck company and had the car towed to my mechanic. My mechanic stated that the engine was blown and would cost $6000.00 to replace it.i had the car towed home ( 2 towing fees at this point at $90.00 each).i called a mechanic that specializes in intrepid/concorde repairs and he advised that i should tow the car to him as it might not be completely blown.another towing fee ($90.00) and another mechanics opinion, yes the engine was completely blown and this mechanic stated the reason for failure was oil sludge.i asked what i could have done to prevent that from happening and he stated that there was nothing i could do, it's a known defect in that particular engine and that if i were to have it repaired, it was his advice to not put a 2.7l engine back in, but rather a 3.2 or 3.5l engine in as they did not have the defect of the 2.7l.i now have a paper weight in my driveway as i do not have the funds to repair the vehicle.i had to buy another car and now have a car payment to a car that i don't even really like much.i would like to know why i was sold a vehicle with a known engine defect and why chrysler won't do anything about it.

Vehicle stopped running, after the check engine light came on.the engine had to be replaced.the door lock was inoperative, the dealer believed it was an actuator problem.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 55 mph on the highway, a very loud noise was heard and then a vast amount of smoke came from the rear of the engine.the engine stalled suddenly without warning.the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined there was a piston and rod problem resulting in a crack in the engine block; the engine would need to be replaced.there were no problems with the engine prior to this incident.the contact maintained routine oil changes as needed.the dealership was aware of the problem.

Dt: while driving about 30-35 mph on astreet and the vehicle cut off.there was no stalling loss of all power.the steering was still working though it was hard to turn the vehicle.pulled to the side of the street and called for a mechanic.a local mechanic came and towedvehicle to anindependent service repair shop.thee it was discovered there was brown sludge, and this was caked up beyond repair.suggested the engine would have to replaced. No repairs have been made at this time due to the expense of a new engine replacement.contacted both dealer and manufacturer, who did not wish to replace or help the consumer with the replacement.this vehicle was regularly serviced and maintained.this happened at 61, 000 miles.

I own a 2000 chyrsler concorde with a 2.7 lemon engine. It blew up at 73500 miles. My mechanic says it is due to oil sludge buildup and too small of oil ports. I have read the 100's of complaints from other people on the internet as well as chryslers denial of a problem. If former employees of chrysler have told me this is a design problem. It is time for daimler chrysler to step up to the plate and act responsibly. Regardless of their claims one or two missed oil changes will not cause total engine failure. It is not unreasonable to expect a vehicle to go for 200 thousand miles or more in this age of technology! i also own a 96 gmc yukon with 156 thousand miles on it. It still runs great and has not given me any engine problems.

My 2000 chrysler concorde has a defect with the 2.7 dohc v6 engine due to oil sludge . My motor just failed due to oil sludge due to the defect . Oil changes every 2500-3000 miles .

Dt*: the contact stated the check engine light illuminated while driving at 60 mph.the light had illuminated on 3 separate occasions.the vehicle was taken to a service dealer who diagnosed the vehicle with complete engine failure.there was metal floating in the oil pan.the manufacturer was not contacted.

While pulling into the driveway vehicle ranroughly.engine quit working followed by the vehicle stalling. Then, vehicle failed to restart.vehicle was towed to the dealership, who indicated that the crank sensor and a rod bearing cylinder 6 had malfunctioned, and needed to be replaced.

I have a 2000 chrysler concord that has needed repeated work.some has been fixed and others not.my first complaint to them was the heater not cooling.of course it always worked when the dealership looked at it.i have had the paint touched two times over the driver's door on the roof, the seal will stay around the head lights.the trunk leaked and had to be repaired.the oil light came on at random times and the car overheated on the 4th of july and again three weeks later.the dealership replaced an oil send receive sensor on the car but could not get it to overheat and told me to bring it back on a hot day.on august 8, 2003 i brought it back to the dealership hot and they have had it every since then.the car continues to overheat, yet they will not call it a lemon.i need a car to drive and i am making payments on something that i do not even have.

I purchased a 2000 chrysler concorde from sanders automotive in columbus, oh. The car has since then required a completely new engine. I was told by a automotive repair man that this engine has been recalled. I was never notified about this recall and as a consumer do not feel that i should be required to come out of my pocket $3500-$4500 for a car that apparently has this issue on a regular basis.

While driving vehicle completely seized, andenginelocked up. Plastic housing that covers the timing belt snapped, and completely shredded the housing.

I own a 2000 chrysler concorde. Have changed oil on schedule since i purchased the car 20 months ago w/ approx. 45k miles.have also had the complete engine flush done 3 times.car has the 2.7 l engine.complete failure at 79,300 miles.no help from chrysler or local dealers.

While driving consumer heard a knocking noise coming from the engine.consumer pulled over, and had the vehicle towed. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Engine quit on well maintained 2000 chrysler concorde (2.7 liter engine) w/ 80k miles and would not restart. Timing chain/belt broken. Requires entire engine swap to fix, according to repair shop.

There were no events leading to the failure everything was fine until i heard the engine knocking and then i took it straight to a dealer to have them look at it where it was then discovered the engine had been blown due to a bearing breaking.the garage said that it wasn't worth rebuilding the engine and would be better off buying a new engine which i couldn't afford due to me being a college student.

While parking vehicle stalled. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

The 2.7l engine seized while driving 25-30 mph. Vehicle was almost rear ended while rolling off onto the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop, and mechanic determined that the engine needed to be replaced.dealer andmanufacturer were not notified.

The contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde. The contact stated that while driving 39 mph the vehicle stalled without any prior warnings.as a consequence her risk for vehicle crash was increased. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility and a mechanic concluded that engine failure resulted from uncontrollable sludge build-up. As of current date the engine has not been replaced. The failure mileage was 47000. The current mileage was unknown.

As other complaints indicate, my oil light started coming on at <700 rpms, car maintenance schedule maintained as instructed, car has 137,000 miles and owe more than its worth now.can't afford new car, can't afford to pay to replace engine, other complaints indicate sludge problem, i'm taking to mechanic this afternoon, and expect to be told the same thing.

While drivingat 25 mph consumer heard a noise coming from the engine. Vehicle was taken to the dealership, and techniciandetermined that engine blew out.

The 2.7 engine failed at about 120,000 miles. The mechanic said the engine is sludged up, but i had the car routinely serviced.it is a 2000 chrysler concorde.

No warning the car just broke down. I had it towed to my mechanic, and they told me the engine was blown, due to sludge, and it would be about $5000.00 to fix it. I have not had the car repaired yet.

Updated 07/07/08 *lj.

I have several rather expensive failing items on my car including recurring issues: had to replace the r/p steering at 65,000 miles steering rack had excessive play at the 'neutral' or straight position; the molding around all doors has pulled away from the body of the car; rear door locks need to be replaced due to electrical problem; left taillight gasket leaks has ruined interior of the car; plastic trim at the base of my windshield is flapping in the wind; replaced stabilizer bar ends; engine coolant outlet housing was replaced due to a leak from the vent fitting - and to date i have at least 3 more things we have to look at before i can sell this heep.

The contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde.the vehicle stalled while driving 50 mph.the vehicle was towed to a repair shop and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced due to sludge build up.she stated that there should not have been sludge build up because regularly scheduled maintenance was performed on the vehicle.the contact has been unable to replace the engine; therefore, the vehicle remains parked at her home.the current and failure mileages were 70,000.

I bought a 2000 chrysler concord with the 2.7l engine. The engine died on me two years after i got it, 68,000 miles on the odometer. It left me with a very large car note. I also had to go get a new car because the amount that it would cost to replace the engine was just as high as a new car. I just now paid it off and the car has been sitting at my house this whole time. Itis a shame.

I have a 2000 chrysler concorde with the 2.7l engine. Recently the engine began knocking very bad. I took it to a mechanic and he told me the engine is going to seize up, and not to drive it. He recommended replacing the engine or at least a rebuild. He then proceded to inform me about how problamatic the 2.7l engine is, and it fails quite frequently without warning! he was surprised that mine has lasted this long. He said mine is failing prematurely as with most other consumers who have this engine. He mentioned engine sludge as the most probable cause, even though the oil is changed approximately every 4 months!

Dt*: the contact stated when the vehicle was started, there was a loud knocking noise and the warning light was illuminated.the vehicle was driven to a service station.the dip stick was checked for oil level.the contact added two quarts, waited 5 minutes, and then checked the oil level again.the level was indicated the oil tank was still near empty, so the contact added one more quart.then the level was too high, so the contact emptied the oil and added the recommended 5 quarts.the warning light continued to illuminate, but the vehicle would not start.the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic.the service dealer and manufacturer were not contacted.

Unexpected premature engine failure while driving on the highway!

1.) oil light flickering, oilmuddy looking ,oil shooting out of top of engine 2.)took to dealership for repairs they said no oil leaks found, oil sending unit bad, replaced part then said engine bad"lower engine noises" dealer quoted new engine replacement at $4000.00on ride home from dealership engine failed . 3) i called chrysler and they declined to help with cost of repairs and i cant afford $4000.00car is sitting in my garage and im still paying off the car loan. * i kept maintenance and required oil changes to this vehicle had no engine problem until failure. No warning engine warning light

The consumer stated that the vehicle is still in the dealers possession and the vehicle was not fixed. The consumer provided the invoice for repair.updated 07/06/07

Chassis integrity. The chassis mounts deteriotion in less than four years resulted in the struts malfunctioning, the transmission coolant lines leaking to the extent that the transmission could not be powered while driving on an interstate highway.

First ,heard noise coming form engine(rattling noise). Took to dealer to have them look at it. Was told by mechanic, that the engine would probably be gone in six months. That's all i was told. No reasons why. If the problem was fixable or anything. A week later the car cut-off on me right after i had exited the highway. If i would've still been on the highway, it would've definitely caused a terrible accident. Took car to my mechanic. He had to take the engine completely apart to find out what the problem was. Come to find out , it was the water pump that caused the timing chain to break in two places, causing the whole engine to lock-up! so i paid my mechanic $1,615.20 to replace timing chain, gaskets, and numerous other things to try to get the car started just to see if the engine was gone. Guess what i found out? it was gone -dead).now i'm stuck with a beautiful car , that's no good to me. And i'm still paying on it! this stinks.

The manufacturer refused to pay for the repairs although the vehicle has an extended warranty.the consumer didn't have the $5900. To repair the vehicle so they traded it in.

When i first bought the car in oct 07, it would occasionally make a knocking noise.i was told by the dealer this was normal. At a point about one month ago my car began making a knocking noise, a neighbor told me to check the oil and see if it was low, it was, i filled it and the noise diminished.no light ever came on except briefly on a left hand turn once while driving the car.on christmas day while driving a total of 60 miles my check engine light came on, the car began to stutter and jerk and act very bad once i reduced speed and got off the highway.i took it to the dealer the next day.today i found out my engine was blown and they are waiting for warranty coverage to approve repairs.my vehicle is a 2000 chrysler concorde.i purchased it the end of october 2006 and it had 82468 miles on it.i drove it for two months and put 2000 miles on it when the engine went.

My 2000 chrysler concorde 2.7 liter with 56,000 miles was just reported by dealership that the engine was shot because of sludge build up. I was puzzled because i change my oil every 3,000 miles ? please help me !thanks, lance.

2000 chrysler concorde engine blew due to oil sludge buildup (car has 59100 miles on it) according to internet testimonials, lots of other people have had the same problem when it reaches a certain mileage. Chrysler does not want to assist. Dealership stated that 4 of the same kind of cars have been in with the same problem recently.how is the consumer protected from cars that are not made to last 3 years with proper maintenance?

On my way to work my engine in my 2000 concord started ticking and seized while driving in a snow storm on january 4, 2005.i only have 40,000 miles on my 4 year old car with a 5 year/50,000 mile extended warranty which i paid over $900 for and chrysler will not help!i was fortunate that i was slowing down for a red light when it seized which saved me from being in an accident or from anyone getting hurt.the local car repair shop told me that my timing belt broke and destroyed the engine and that it was a common problem in the 2.7l engines that chrysler put in their cars due to the oil distribution system.chrysler blames the problem with sludging in the engine and it will cost me $6,000 to replace the engine.they want me to show my receipts for my oil changes which i did not save.when i went to the shops that i had my oil changes done some were not on the system because i did not return within a year and the latest shop where i change my oil just received a new computer system and just started to record the changes on february 15, 2005 but not prior to this date.this leaves me with nothing but a big bill that i should not have to pay!i know that there is a class action lawsuit being or already is filed against chrysler for this problem.i need to find out how to get my name on this lawsuit and how to escalate this problem to get chrysler to pay for the fixes.i can be e-mailed at [email protected] or by replying to this e-mail.

The engine of my 2000 chrysler concorde began making a knocking noise.immediately the oil warning lamp immuminated.i drove the vehicle to the purchase delearship where following diagnostic test was told the motor was destroyed. The repair cost was placed at approx. $7,900.the cause was placed on a clogged oil intake not allowing oil to circulate the motor, essentially starving the engine.following the incident i began to research the 2.7 liter chrysler motor and uncovered numerous engine failures from various website listings.the center for automotove safety has contacted chrylsler on two occasions requesting a remedy for the consumers, out in most cases, several thousand dollars. I plead with you to look into this matter.over 490 of these motors have suffered catastrophic engine failure due to this design flaw.the flaw appears to be associated with a small oil passage which causes the motor to run at a higher tolerence than normal.eventually the oil develops what is caused a sludge problem and the evental engine failure comes soon thereafter.these vehicles are breaking down anywhere from 40,000 miles on up to mine which was at 98,000. I personally had to borrow the $6,000 down payment so not only am i out the old vehicle i am out the $6,000 i had to bowwor to make the down payment.there are several consumer websites where this onformation can be located.a simple yahoo search for the chrysler 2.7 liter motor will provide a wealth of initial research information. Please look into this matter and hopefully come to a resolution with the chrysler corporation to assist the consumers which have losts thousands of dollars as a result of this design flaw.

Vehicle made noise from what i assumed was the engine on the morning of the incident.i immediately called to make a service appointment and drove my son to school.on my way from school to work the vehicle ceased operating.i had stopped at a traffic light and the car died.no indicator lights had gone on.other than the initial noise it had made upon starting that morning there was no indication that there was any problem.the car was towed to a nearby dealership, and i was told it was complete engine failure and that the engine would have to be replaced, no other alternative.i chose not to replace the engine since a new warranty engine would have cost almost as much as the car was worth.

Consumer stated that vehicle and the motor was shot. While consumer was driving vehicle knocked, and before he could exit the knocking got real loud.afterwards, vehicle died.consumer said he had to pushvehicle to his home, but later had it towed to a dealer, who examined the vehicle, and told consumer that the motor was defective, andit would cost him $7500.00 to get it repaired.before this happened consumer paid $600.00 for a diagnostic test and 2 sensors to be replaced.

The problem was undetermined, at this time.it was later determined that the engine failed due to sludge build up.the engine light did not illuminate to indicate any type of failure.the technician said that many 2.7 liter engines have this problem.

I was responding from home to an emergency page when i began hearing loud noises coming for the engine.i was turning a corner when this began so i was driving approximately 10-15 mph.i pulled over, shut off the engine.upon attemptingto start my vehicle it failed.i had it towed to dealer which informed me the timing chain came loose and bent the valves, damaged the heads.i need a need motor.they want to charge me $4,000 for a used motor plus labor costs.i still owe $3,000 on this vehicle.i purchased it late 2003 and the dealer didn't inform me this was an ongoing, very common issue with this vehicle.i'm a single mom with no means of purchasing a replacement vehicle let alone thinking of fixing it.i can't even trade it in for a vehicle since i owe more than the car is now worth.

The vehicle made a loud noise, the speed decreased, and eventually the engine stalled.

Hello, i would just like to take the time to explain the situation with my year 2000 chrysler concorde lx. I am a college student and i purchased this car roughly a year and a half ago with 41,000 miles on it. The carfax vehicle report stated that the car had perfect routine maintenance and it was owned by one female owner over the course of its life. After owning the car i now have about 65,000 miles on this car, with perfect routine maintenance. I am experiencing the symptoms of the engine sludge problem that these 2.7 liter engines experience. My rpms are dropping to low revs at idle, and my mechanic says that the engine will eventually seize while driving. At this point i no longer drive the vehicle and leave it stationary in my parents garage. To replace these engines they cost around 4,000 - 10,000 dollars. That is more than the price of the vehicle itself. There is clearly a defect in the engine design, and any quick google search can show this. There are hundreds upon thousands of complaints online in public forums and engine oriented websites. I only hope that this organization investigates this situation, and takes it seriously.

The contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde. While turning into a parking lot there was a loud noise, and then the steering wheel locked. She then tried to pull to the side of the road, but the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility, and the mechanic concluded that the failure was caused by engine sludge. No repairs were made. She filed a report with the dealer, but no assistance was provided. The failure and current mileages were unknown.

I went to start my vehicle one morning and it would not start.i had my brother and father in law whom are mechanics come take a look at it and they said the engine was filled with sludge.we then cleaned out the engine real good and changed all the liquids in it.it worked for approximately a month.i then got up in the morning to go to work and started my vehicle and went to my mothers down the road before work.on my way to work the engine started acting up and luckily i was just down the road from home.i went straight home and made it right before my chrysler concord quit completely on me.i then had my brother in law again come look at it and he said the engine was toast and needed a new one.now i had already replaced the motor approximately a year before this incident happened.now i owe $8,000.00 on this vehicle and can not drive it due to not being able to afford to replace the motor again.it sets in my drive as a lawn ornament now.now the incident date below is an approximate date since this happened some time ago.but i know it was in the summer time after june of 2006.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving various speeds on a city street, there was a loss of all vehicle power, and the engine stalled without warning.afterwards, the engine would not restart.the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop, who determined there was excessive oil sludge present, and the engine needed to be replaced.the manufacturer was not alerted.

Timing belt broke while driving on the road. Engine quit and i coasted into a driveway. Mechanic said the timing belt broke causing the valves to be bent and engine failure. $6000 to replace the engine. Hard for a elderly couple!

My brother was driving my car on the expressway,he was going about 70 mph when the engine locked up and he had to keep the car under control until he could get the car to the side of the road.thank god know one was hert or killed. The car is a 2000 chrysler concorde with a 2.7 liter engine.

Sludge in the engine of a chrysler concord 2.7l engine resulting in thousands of dollars to repair. Routine maint. Had been preformed and yet sludge still built up. This is a design flaw, not a maint. Problem.

We first saw a dealership regarding a clicking in the engine compartment on april 26, 2004, then again on july 16, 2004 at a different dealership.on the latter date, the battery was replaced and the oil changed.on 7/25, the engine.i was fortunate that i had just pulled into my driveway when this occurred.we replaced the engine early in 2005.when the tech broke down the old 2.7 liter engine, he wrote, "...rod bearings worn and rod tap noise the engine showed no signs of abuse or alteration...".the engine was replaced with a different engine.at this time, we are preparing to request compensation from daimler-chrysler.

The contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde.while driving 35 mph, the vehicle lost power without warning.as of january 3, 2008, the dealer or manufacturer had not inspected the vehicle.the failure mileage was 85,000 and current mileage is 95,000.the vin, engine size and number of cylinders were unavailable.

A knocking noise started coming from the front of vehicle and started vibrating uncontrollably.the driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, the vehicle then vehicle stalled.the driver tried to restart it, but was unable to do so.the vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.the mechanic informed the driver that the engine needed replacement due to sludge build up.please fill in additional information.

While driving 55 mph vehicle stalled. Driver was not able to restart vehicle, and had it towed to a dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that the engine needed to be replaced.

The motor on a my 2.7l 2000 chrysler contour rod bearings went out ruining the motor. The repair would be 3,000. I did not know it was a known incident with these motors that chrysler uses in this model. The motor went out on a camping trip 180 miles away from home. I left the car at a shop and am currently donating it to charity.

My son just purchased this car four months ago and the timing b elthas just snapped off and damaged the entire engine without any warning, the local dealership will not assist in helping with the cost because the 3/36 was all that was offered.can anyone be of assistance here!

Driving at 45 mph when engine made loud noise and vehicle engine seized. This caused loss of control of vehicle without any warning. This is 2000 chrysler concorde with same 2.7 liter engine problem as the rest where the repair shop says sludge build-up cause engine timing chain to break but car has been maintained as per chrysler recommendations.*la

The engine on my 2000 chrysler concorde failed.i made it to a dealer before the car actually quit.i have only 80,000 miles on the car and have been told i need a new engine for $7,100.i have since found out that this is a common problem with the chrysler 2.7l engine even though the dealership who sold me this car never mentioned it to me.

At 85,000 miles my engine in which i have donemy oil changes, had sludge in it, now after 90,000 the engine knocks real bad and must be replaced, the dealer told me that my personal extended warrenty will not cover it because of the crap in the engine, which they said i caused it because i did not do my oil changes and i did.

I was just driving one night home from my mothers house and the engine just blew with no warning. I have changed my oil every 3,000-3,500 miles and after reading the hundreds of complaints about the 2.7 chrysler engine i am quite displeased that a company can get away with this kind of neglect.

Chrysler concorde 2000engine seized at 69000 miles too much money to repair timing belt/chain replaced at 55000 milesdoor locks replaced ignition switch replaced engine quit with family in car during 65 mph.

Engine died in traffic without any warning.towed to mechanic who stated that engine had blown due to sludge buildup.

My wife was driving our 2000 chrysler concorde lx with the 2.7 liter engine when the engine blow up luckily there was no one in front or back of her when this happened.

Having just exited the expressway, vehicle stalled and lost braking and steering.unable to restart engine, and facing an uphill slope, i was able to back my car through five lanes of traffic to safety at the side of the road.had this spontaneous and catastrophic failure occured just one mile earlier, i most like would not have lived to file this complaint.there is no doubt in my mind that many people have perished driving this car, as a more thorough investigation of fatalities in this model will prove. Chrysler dealer wants $375 to find cause of engine failure and $7500 to replace the engine. This is a 2.7 v6 with 58,000 miles.

My son was going about 46 miles an hour when the car just quit i took it to the dealer and was told the the engine just feel apart for no reason. I had the oil changed every three thousand miles and it has 90,000 .he was on a major hiway and was very lucky no one hit him.

I had owned my 2000 chrysler concorde for approximatly three years when the engine failed.there was little if any warning of the failure in the way of dashboard indicators, etc.when driving, the engine stalled and would not start again.the servicing mechanic advised that a sludge build-up in the oil reserve had caused a failure of the engine to such an extent that the engine had to be replaced.after i investigated further, i've seen other such complaints about the 2.7 liter engine that i had replaced.many of the complaints point to a too-narrow oil distribution system in the engine, that leads to premature failure.i believe the engine is of faulty design, and is unfit for distribution.

Vehicle stalledwhile driving.

With only 53,000 miles, regular maintenance and oil changes my cars 2.7l v6 engine needs replaced. This has been a problem for many, many customers and while still owing large sums of money on our loans, are stuck without vehicles because of the enormous cost involved in this repair. Having this problem has left our family in a very bad position, and chryslers failure to act upon it is causing great hardship for many of their customers.

Engine knocks at 115,000 miles.according to resources this is a common problem that leads to engine malfunction.

2000 chrysler concorde with approx. 94k miles is having what the chrysler mechanic calls a "blow by" and is unsafe to drive.they say we need a new engine costing approx. $8000!!!we haven't even made it to the first tune-up! we've maintained the car with oil changes every 3k miles at the dealership. We always asked them to inform us of any impending car problems since we were on the highwaya lot.no suggestion of a heavier weight oil or anything! this appears to be a factory defect in the 2.7 ltr engine that chrysler knows about and should fix!we're attempting to negotiate with dealership now.

Dt:the contact heard a tapping noise coming from the engine on september 5, 2005.he had not driven it for a couple of days.then, he took it to a mechanic, and they told him they believed that it had an engine problem.the contact drove the vehicle home, and the next time he tried to start vehicleup but it would not start.the contacttowed it to a dealer, and they said the engine needed to be replaced.hehad the engine replaced now.updated 12/7/2005.

Took vehicle to a mechanic, who was unable to repair carbecausehe did not know what the noise was.referred to a dealership, who had 3 technicians inspect the vehicle.it was suggested not to drive any further or the motor may blowout.a new motor was recommended.there was sludge in the engine and shavings in the oil pan. Consumer was not exactly sure what the final diagnosis was on the motor, but remembered the sludge and shavings.contacted chrysler about the motor because the vehicle had been maintained regularly.chrysler returned consumer's call and stated they would pay 50% of the bill for the replacement of the motor.vehicle is in the shop for repairs now.

I have a 2000 chrysler concord with 62566 miles on it.this car has the 2.7l engine in it and it is now dead due to lack of compression.my little sister was driving this car when the engine completely died.a three year 36 thousand mile powertrain warranty is unacceptable.i opening a complaint with chrylser but from what i have seen on the internet from other consumers it does not appear to be any recourse.

The car was idling for about 20minutes, then it started to idle up quite high then bog down low, after that i turned the ignition off, waited for my husband. Got the car to his fathers house, barely, then took it to where we bought it from. Then it died and won't start back up.the car only has 105,000 miles on it.engine is completly gone.

The contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde.the contact stated that the engine failed and the vehicle stalled in the middle of the road.the vehicle made a knocking sound when it was restarted.the contact took the vehicle to a mechanic and was informed that a new engine was needed due to sludge build-up.the repair would cost between $4,000 to $6,000.the dealer would not honor the warranty on the vehicle because she is the second owner.the speed was unknown.the failure mileage was 83,520.

2000 chrysler concorde with 56,000 milesi was driving on the garden state parkway near forked river, new jersey when i heard a popping sound, then the engine went dead. I looked under the hood and the plastic cover over the engine was torn and oil/gas was splattered everywhere. We needed to be towed off the gsp by their tow truck, then had to call aaa after that for another tow. Since we were about 80 miles from home, this resulted in a towing charge of over $200. My mechanic informed me that the engine needs to be replaced. He spoke with service personnel at three different chrysler dealers, and all told him this is a common occurrence for the engine on this make and model vehicle, at or around 50,000 miles the timing chain breaks, resulting in irreparable damage to the engine. The estimated cost to replace the engine is $5,000.

While driving45 mph the consumer could not stop the vehicle.thenafter trying to coast home, the vehicle had to be towed tothedealer, who told the consumer that engine was full of sludge, andneeded to be replaced.the warranty company stated that thevehicle had a lack of maintenance, and they would not cover the cost.

Engine failure due to oil sludge build-up in 2000 chrysler concorde 2.7 liter engine. We have since found out this is a common problem with these engines and we were extremely fortunate to make it to the dealership safely, where it failed to start, instead of having it die on the expressway.*la

The car was purchased used from yankee ford,so.portland.with 60,000 miles on it. After a few days, the car seemed to idle high.yankee ford diagnostic could find nothing wrong.in 2004 fall, i took it in because it was running hot, the engine sounded rough.the oil changes were up to date.the oil was clean when the mechanic looked at it.he did a diagnostic check.then he looked in the engine. It was very dirty. When the machine shop cleaned it, the mechanics said they never saw anything like it, it was caked with sludge. The car has been sitting in the shop while the mechanic has looked for a new used engine. The cost is very, very high and i still owe $7,000 on the car. It had less than 80,000 miles on it when i took it in.

Was on interstate heading to hampton virginia when had to pull over for traffic and sit for 20 minutes due to traffic accident delay, when i pulled back into traffic my car would not go over 10 miles per hour and was squealing and sounded like engine was falling out. Engine failed while the consumer was driving.vehicle was towed to dealer, who claimed that the consumer did not maintain the vehicle and the oil had built up.the engine needed to be replaced.

I was driving along interstate 295 just passing into massachusetts on october 20th 2006 when i heard my engine making horrid sounds, all of a sudden i had no control and instead of panicking like a normal driver and crashing horribly(which would have happened i assure you) i popped the car into neutral, turned off all power and coasted into the breakdown lane(turning with no power is no fun at all).as it turns out my engine had blown up while i was driving which could have killed me and had my 2 week old daughter and fiance been in the car they as well. My mechanic told me that i should not have been able to do what i did but i was lucky and there were very few drivers on the road.i have worked at oil change garages and i do regular maintenance on my car.the fault is with the engine.

When i was driving on the highway going to work in the am, the car started sputtering and i had to pull over to see what was wrong.it seemed to be ok after that.then later that evening, i was driving on a 70 mph freeway and the car suddenly and completely lost power this time and i had to make an emergency pull off to the side of the road, and i almost caused a major accident.i had the vehicle checked and it was determined to be engine failure and that i would have to replace the engine at a cost of about $3200.i have not had the repair done yet so the car is sitting in my driveway until i decide what to do.

I am the original owner of chrysler concorde 2000, with a 2.7 engine.i have only used the dealer for all maintenance work and the car in no longer under the 7 years, 70,000 mile extended warranty.i have followed all maintenance for the car.on august 14, the engine light came and the engine performed erratically and i had the car towed to my chrysler dealer.they called, without specifically pinpointing the problem, and indicated that the engine would probably have to be replaced due to loss of pressure in one of the valves and that the engine would probably have to be replaced at a cost of almost $8,000.it cost $250 for that estimate.i had the car towed to a second auto repair shop and they stated the engine had major piston damage in the valve and a rebuild engine was the only option.they also indicated this engine had long term and well known problems of failure due to engine sludge.a review of numerous web sites indicates hundreds and hundreds of such complaints and chrysler pointing the car owners as responsible instead of being held accountable. The web sites indicated the engine was discontinued by chrysler within 2 years but no notification was ever made to current owners of the possibility of the problem occurring.i am extremely fortunate, that the engine failure did not occur while driving on my normal commute in a car pool on the interstate.any assistance that you can provide to hold chrysler accountable would be greatly appreciated

I purchased a 2000 chrysler concorde in august 2003 from a used dealership and the engine went out on 11-22-03 with 44,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde.while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle hesitated briefly.after making a right turn, the vehicle shut off completely.the vehicle was towed to the dealer approximately two days later and they stated that the timing belt skipped linkages, and the water pump needed to be replaced.after the repairs were made, the transmission light illuminated on the instrument panel.the vin was unknown.the current mileage was 114,200 and failure mileage was 114,100.

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling 45 mph, the vehicle lost power, was pulled over and driven to an independent repair shop.then, the vehicle was driven to the dealership, who determined the timing chain tensioner fractured causing the engine to run erratically.the timing chain gears and tensioner were replaced.afterwards, when the vehicle was started, the oil pressure was low and the dealership determined there was oil sludge in the engine.

2000 chrysler concord with 2.7 engine failed at 58,450 miles, all scheduled maintenance done at chrysler dealer. Dealer estimates repairs at $7,000.00.

Sudden engine failure, cracked engine.

The engine light appeared on the dashboard and remained on.a loud ticking noise was coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle stalled.the consumer tried to restart it but was unable to do so.the consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer.the mechanic informed the consumer that the engine needed to be replaced due to sludge build up.please fill in additional information.

Consumer was driving and the vehicle stalled, would not restart, and had to be towed.theengine was found to be defective.manufacturer offered no assistance. The tensioner went bad in the engine allowing the timing chain to jump time, resulting in the valves being bent into the head and destroying the engine.

I have an 2000 chrysler concorde and was turning from one highway to next and car died right in middle of turn.there were no warning lights or loud engine sounds that would indicate something was wrong.had car towed to chrysler dealership and they said engine had froze up and would cost $7,100 to replace it with new engine as no used engines were available.car only had 85,300 miles on it and had regular maintenance...warranty had expired previous year.called daimler-chrysler corp and they were very rude.

While driving 15 mph vehicle stalled.consumer restartedvehicleand drove it todealer for inspection, andmechanic determinedthatengine neededto be replaceddue toa worn out part.

I purchased a 2000 chrysler concorde in june 2001 from patterson chevrolet. I purchased an extended warranty on the car and it was serviced for engine problems (oil leaking and smoke under the hood) in november 2001, twice in december 2001 and once in january 2002 before the problem was fixed.car engine suddenly began to run very loudly. I put 2 quarts of oil and the next day the engine simply died while i was on my way to work on a very busy street. There had been no prior indications there was anything was wrong with the car.

The contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde.while driving 40 mph, the rod began knocking in the motor and the vehicle began to decelerate.the vehicle would not gain speed and was driven to an auto shop.the mechanic stated that the motor failed completely and was no good.the current and failure mileages were 53,000.updated 04/28/08.*lj

While driving at 30 mph vehicle stalled without any warning. Consumer was unable to restart vehicle.it was towed to a repair shop.

My 2000 concorde had to have the engine replaced at only 36,000 miles.maintenance was done routinely and the off brand warranty company refused to pay because sludge in the engine.i really took care of this car and it failed me.

Chrysler concorde 2000 engine noise, timing belt tension off due to low oil pressure from clogged oil lines in engine.mechanic said engine would need replaced at a cost of $6000 plus labor.

My 2000 chrysler concord engine began a loud knocking, after taking it to a mechanic, he informed us that the engine was shot (possibly a rod). I have read "coutless" accounts of this problem. I paid for a year and a half for a car i can not even drive. Why with so many complaints about these engines isn't something being done? something needs to be done, and amends need to be made.ak

I have a 2000 chrysler concorde with a 2.7 engine that is sludged.i have changed my oil properly but do not have but 2 or 3 receipts.i have an extended warranty and that company has denied the claim.i am a realtor and must have a car, this has been a great hardship and when the engine started to go i was on the expressway.the warranty company nor chrysler is standing behind the product.i have basically been called a liar by the dealership and the warranty company because we don't have receipts.the car is just sitting because i cannot afford a new engine.i have done research and there are a lot of the 2.7 engines that have gone out like mine.something needs to be done, other companies stand behind their auto products but chrysler is not.i still owe on the car and have to pay the payment and insurance.chrysler consumers need help please.

Engine in my chrystler concorde seized up while i was driving it. I had it towed to a dealer and they said it was nothing i did. They said the timing chain slipped causing the motor to spin.

Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle stalled while stopped at stop lights and the steering locked.the vehicle eventually failed to start and was towed to an independent repair shop who determined the engine needed to be replaced and was later towed to a service dealer who determined the engine needed to be replaced because of sludge build up.there was no determination of what caused the sludge build up and no warning lights ever illuminated prior to any of the problems.in addition to the oil sludge the dealer also determined one of the pistons was bad.

Engine filled with sludge, causing the engine to fail completely. It was diagnosed as the pistons going through the valves. Also, vehicle was hit in the rear, causing the front seats to break off the floor. The entire track assembly had to be replaced along with the motors underneath.

My brother was driving my car on the expressway, he was going about 70 mph when the engine locked up and had to keep the car under control until he could get the car to the side of the road.thank god he or know one else was hurt.the car is a chrysler concorde 2000 with a 2.7 liter engine.

The engine of my 2000 chrysler concord failed while i was driving the car on october 13, 2004.i have slightly over 60,000 miles on the car and it is 4 1/2 years old. I had the car towed to my dealership. Upon inspection, they stated that they "found engine sludged up causing minimal amount of oil pressure (rod bearings and timing chain bad)" they stated the engine needed to be replaced at an estimated cost of $7000 plus tax. The service manager, pete, said that this engine is a continual problem and that they hate to see these cars come in for repair.i had the automobile towed to a private repair shop on october 19,2004 for a second opinion. The repair shop came back with the same issue and a repair estimate of $5400. The repair shop also stated that they have done several of these engine replacements to the chrysler 2.7l engine. That there engine has a very poor design that leads to sludge pulling into the engine even with regular and timely oil changes. It is a problem of the engineering design of the engine. I have performed the oil changes on the vehicle based on the recommended miles in the owners manual. I still owe about $4800 on a vehicle that does not run due to a manufacturing defect. Chrysler refuses to extend their warrenty. There should be no need to replace such a low mileage engine that has been properly cared for.

My chrysler concorde(2000)just up and died on the side of the highway a couple of months ago.it was due to oil sludge.we got the oil changed every three thousand miles and it threw a rod.the mechanics said it will take 4000 to fix but i can't afford it.so i have been paying ona car that i can't drive.the car only has about 70000 miles on it.the oil was changed aabout a month before this happened.nothing has been done to the car because i can't afford it.it lost all power on the highway as my wife drove it and had to be towed.

While driving off the highwayengine rattled/overheated, causing sludge in the motor oil. Consumer was able to slow down and eventually stalled. Consumer heard knocking in the motor, and as the vehicle slowed down, the vehicle stalled. Consumerhad the vehicle towed to the dealer, where it was discovered that the engine had sludge in the motor.

The timing chain broke while the vehicle was being driven on the interstate.the manufacture stated that the problem existed because of faulty maintenance.

Dt: the contact went to start thevehicle and it would not start. He had the vehicle towed to a dealership. They found the tensioner in the enginebroke, causing the engine to blow up. Repairs will be at the contact'sexpense.

While driving 3mph vehicle stalled.vehicle was towed to an independent shop, and techniciandetermined thattiming belt broke and damaged the engine.

Dt*:the contact stated while turning a corner at 25 mph the vehicle stalled.the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop which determined the problem was the timing chain however, no repairs have been made.updated 3/28/2006 -

Dt: the contact stated while pulling out from a parking spaceat5-7 mph the car started making a loud noise and the engine locked. The dealer said the timing change broke which caused the engine to shut down.

In august of 2003. My chrysler concorde failed due to a faulty tensioner, 66,000 miles.this caused engine damage(valves bent, etc..) engine rebuilt cost $2500.on september 6th 2004 82,000 miles, i was driving my car to get food.approximately 1 mile or less from my home, my car died.oil was sludgy when viewing it through oil entrance on engine.awaiting repair estimates from repair shop.

The contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde.when the vehicle was started, the engine made a loud rattling noise.the noise occurred intermittently.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and discovered that the failure was due to the size of the whole for the timing chain.the mechanic refused to repair the vehicle because this was an issue for the manufacturer.recently, while driving approximately 55 mph, the engine shut off without warning.the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and has not been repaired.the vin was unknown.the failure and current mileages were 136,000.

The contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde.while driving 45 mph, the vehicle began making a clunking noise.the dealer stated that the timing chain failed and needed to be replaced.two years later, while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle shut off and would not restart.the engine was towed to two mechanics and they stated that the engine was locked.the vin was unknown.the current mileage was 163,000 and failure mileage was 78,000.

While driving at approximately 40 mph engine seized.the consumer was unable to restart the vehicle.the vehicle was towed to the dealership, where it was evaluated and is currently being serviced.the consumer was informed that the timing chainfailed, and there was sludge in the engine. Vehicle is equipped with a 2.7 liter engine. It was properly maintained.*sc

The contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde.while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled and completely shut off.the contact pulled over and attempted to restart the vehicle, but was unsuccessful.he looked under the hood and discovered that the timing chain failed and created a hole in the valve cover.the contact stated that a new motor would have to be installed at the cost of approximately $7,000.the purchase date was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 95,000.

Dt:the contact owns a 2000 chrysler concorde. While driving it in the middle of traffic the timing chain went out and the engine was trashed.this occurred on 9-22-05. The contactwasto havea new engine installed.he found some information on the internet about how oil sludge buildup in these engines could cause the timing chain to fail, which causes the engine to malfunction.apparently, this was a known problem with these engines.the contact statedmercedes benz and volkswagenhave the same problem because they have the same engine. They have extended their warranties to cover sludge problems beyond the normal warranty period. He has not yet talked to the dealer.

I purchased a 2000 chrysler concorde lx in sept. 2006.it had 114,305 miles at time of purchase.ten months later, the engine began to fail after normal, regular maintenance.i first thought there was an electrical problem since the car would die or was difficult to start, so i replaced the battery and associated cables.within a few weeks, the engine developed a loud rattling noise and soon could not be started at all.two mechanic shops stated that the engine was ruined because of a build up of sludge in the crank case, preventing oil from circulating properly.i was told that several rocker arms had been damaged and that several cylinders were warped.i spent $2,200 to have the engine rebuilt (i.e., entire crank case, timing belt tensioner, oil pump, cylinders, rods, etc.) in feb. 2008, after seven months of the car being inoperable.both mechanic shops stated that the sludge/oil circulation problem was endemic to the 2.7 liter chrysler engine due to a design flaw involving overly narrow, 90-degree oil passageways in the crank case that make oil flow exceedingly difficult.i feel that chrysler should reimburse me in full for the cost of rebuilding the engine since proper oil-flow is a basic engineering and/or manufacturing requirement in order to produce a reliable and safe engine.

Car stalled at red light, i pulled over to firestone to have them put the car on a machine to scan for errors and i was told that my crank shaft sensor and oil sensor were bad, i paid for them to replace the sensors ($525.00) and five days later while driving i smelled something and pulled over, this time it was my transmission line ($480.00) and transmission work $(1765.00) this was all paid within 2 weeks, but when i went to pick up the car i was told that they thought that my oil pump needed to be replaced, but when they pulled the oil pump they said that i had engine slug.

2000 chrysler concorde lh; ac evaporator failed after about 3 years; dealer charged me more than $500 for an analysis and re-charge, which lasted 2 months; took it back to dealer, who then told me it was the ac evaporator, and that it was out of warranty! to fix it would cost more than $1,200. I contacted the dealer and chrysler on 7.8.2005 and was told there was nothing they could do. This is grossly unfair -- especially when chrysler knows there is a known defect in its air conditioning systems. Chrysler said there has been no recall on this equipment so there is nothing they can do.

A/c evaporator defective.have had the following replaced:a "o" seal, fan, the dealer sent it out to have the evaporator sealed, it won't seal.needs totalreplacement.car is only 3 years old, and a/c is only used maybe 3 months per year in northeast ohio.should be covered/replaced by automaker.they refuse.

Consumer states that the a/c is not cold, dealer found the evaporator was leaking and replaced it.

No summary listed for above vehicle.

I was wondering if there was any kind of recall or investigation on my vehicle headlight lens i have original lenses and they are clouded over leaving night visibility very lowthank you

Ive been informed of a lot of recalls on my car and would like them fixed due to safety issues.

I read on the internet under 2000 chrysler concorde that there is a master brake issue if you don't have abs brakes. It affects the stopping and the brakes constantly rub. That is the main concern i have with my car.

Consumer notice rubber sealing around head light is separating from head lights. Dealer has been contacted will replace at consumer charge.nlmdealer informed consumer that the whole head light assembly would have to be replaced on both lenses.*jg

Consumer states that all the rubber surrounding various vehicle body components is "popping" off.specifically the rubber surrounding the headlights, doors and windows.dealer is unable to determine cause.

Consumer was disappointed with headlights.as longas he was driving inday light everything was fine.but, when he was driving at night hecould not see.the low beam gave him an approximate distance of 75 feet in front. Consumer complained to dealer, but was told bydealer there was nothing that couldbe done because that was the way thelightening system was designed.also, consumer wastold that even if he had the headlights changed it would not be any different because the type of beams that fitted this vehicle were all the same, and they could not be adjusted.consumer was afraid that hecould be in an accident because it was hard to see at night.*sc

Consumer had problems with the rubber board that goes around the headlights.manufacturer and the dealer were contacted, and they both stated that there wasno recalls, and there was nothing they could do.

I have been having problems with my door locks for quite some time now. When i press the button to lock or unlock it will not work and it makes a loud noise.i have to unlock the doors by hand.i have checked with my mechanic and he tells me its probably the motor and it would have to be replaced in each door at about $150.00 each door. I bought my car new in 2000 i love the car but hate this problem.

Intermittently consumer heard a loud buzzing noise coming from inside of the rear driver's side door.consumer was unable to lock the door.dealership was notified, but could not resolve the problem.

The power door locks were making a loud "squealing" noise when activated.then, the locks began failing one at a time until all 4 were replaced by dealer.

After only three years, the lock actuator on the drivers side went bad so that it does not automatically lock when i start driving and i cannot lock it using the remote or the switch on the drivers door. I would not have thought anything was out of the ordinary until i spoke to 3 friends of mine that also own 2000 chrysler products which they also have had to replace actuators in. This seems like an awful high rate of failure.

Door locks: consumer heard a noise coming form the front driver's side. The back door locked drivers side. Consumer cannot open door manually, but it opens with the remote control. The front driver's side and passenger side will not unlock manually or with the remote control. Front driver's side door made noise, and rear driver's side door froze and could not be opened by remote or manually. Consume rconsidered this a serious safety problem in case of a collision with injury passengers would not be able to exit vehicle.

Automatic door locks do not operate properly. When unlock lever is used, the locks do not unlock and the individual unlock buttom on each door must be pulled up. However, you cannot pull up these buttoms until the automatic unlock lever is first activated.this represents a safety hazzard because the rear doors cannot be opened by someone seated in the rear seats unless someone pushes the automatic unlock lever located on the front two doors. In addition, the front driver's door lock cannot be locked until the automatic door locking lever is first pushed to lock and then the door button must be pushed down manually. Failure to follow these steps would enable an intruder to open the door from the outside.

Chrysler concorde 2000engine seized at 69000 miles too much money to repair timing belt/chain replaced at 55000 milesdoor locks replaced ignition switch replaced engine quit with family in car during 65 mph.

A sensor within transmission malfunctioned, causing vehicle to completely shut down without warning.input speed sensor was replaced, also the right rear door lock was inoperable, parts are on order.*jg

Driver and front passenger electric door locks inoperative. Drivers door lock failed last summer and now passengers door lock has failed. Both made a loud, grinding noise during actuation just prior to complete failure. Took to dealer who told me that this problem is prevalent with the concorde.

Passenger door was repaired at no cost to the consumer, however it never worked correctly. The consumer decided not to get the recall work done, because the dealer informed him, theseat was broken underneath the seat and the part was not in stock and if the recall was done with the seat broken, the seat would stay in one position. The consumer was told the vehicle needed a tune, however the consumer disagreed that a tune- up was needed with such low mileage. *mr *ph

The door locks tend not to unlock, making it difficult for the consumer to get out of vehicle. Consumer notified the manufacturer.the passenger had to slide across to the drivers side to exit the vehicle.attempts to open the door with the key and manual lock failed.lock was replaced.rear passenger had to slide across to the drivers side passenger door to exit the vehicle. The lock motor was replaced anda loud buzz noise came from the lock motor for a few days after installation.lock does not lock automatically.*tc

For about a year the right rear passenger door has had a loud squealing sound when it attempts to auto lock either by using the remote, internal button, or the speed sensor. By reading the other complaints on this site, i see that my problem is exactly the same as the others have discribed.additionally, the door cannot be unlocked unless you press the unlock button and then pull the lock up.this could be a very bad situation if someone were trapped inside after an accident.

Consumer stated automatic locks were stripped and consumer was unable to unlock door from inside of vehicle.

Vehicle stopped running, after the check engine light came on.the engine had to be replaced.the door lock was inoperative, the dealer believed it was an actuator problem.

The front and back doors of the driver side had become inoperative.in order for the driver to get out of the vehicle, he/she would have to go through the passenger side door. *la *sc

It has now happened three times in the last four months; while driving on an interstate, my left foot will accidentally hit the hood release causing it to release; although the hood has not flown open to obstruct my view, it does force me to have to pull over in a potentially dangerous situation to re-secure the hood. I feel that hood release should be moved to a better location.

Trunk lid would not stay up when opened. Unexpected injury could occur when the truck was opened. Dealer was notified, andinformed the consumer that thisvehicle's trunk was not covered under a recall.

Dt*: the contact stated the trunk fell down and hit the contact on the head.no injuries were sustained.the trunk fell down periodically.the dealership was aware of the problem.

Emergency brake light on but brake was off. Stopped by dealer and service rep. Said emergency break was not fully released and he released it. About a week later the light came on again and this time the brake was on and i was unable to release it all the way. Went to the dealer again and the service rep. Said the park brake racket needed to be replaced and since the dash board would have to be taken off the cost for the part and labor would be $841.81. Wow that's a lot of money for a retired person.

The chrysler concrode transmission line failed. The consumer had an accident with the vehicle which was considered totaled by the insurance company, however the consumer had the vehicle repaired and 1 year later the transmission cooling lines failed, the consumer was told by the manufacturer the service contract was cancelled because the vehicle was totaled.

Consumer stated that the key could be moved from the ignition while in drive, the dealer adjusted the shifter cable.

Driver's side seat moves back and forth whenever vehicle comes to a stop or whenvehicle take off from a stop position.dealer notified, and informed consumer that nothing couldbe done.

Consumer was adjusting the seat anddriver 's front seat collapsed forward. Consumer drove the vehicle to the dealer, who informed consumer that the seat needed to be replaced.......

The seat recliner bolts on the driver's power seat broke causing the recliner portion of the seat to recline rapidly without warning. The car was not being driven at the time.the manufacturer's representative robert clark noted that my vehicle was not listed as having this problem. I am still waiting for the dealer to the fix problem.

After the consumer made two appointments to have the recall for the seat recliner repaired, the consumer was informed the parts were not available. Recall # 03 v 035 000.the consumer stated that work was completed.*scc

While driving, driver's seat collapsed backwards, causing driver to lose control of vehicle.

Dt*:the contact stated upon sitting in the front driver's seat, the back of the seat fell backwards into a reclined position.the vehicle was seen by a dealer for inspection who determined the seat failed due to normal wear and tear.the service department replaced the seat recliner which corrected the problem.

Ive been informed of a lot of recalls on my car and would like them fixed due to safety issues.

While the vehicle was parked consumer noticed liquid underneath the vehicle on the driver 's sidefront wheel.consumer was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer.then, abs brake lightappeared on the dashboard and remained on.mechanic determined that the abs brake module unit needed to be replaced due to a worn outpart.

The steering wheel was difficult to turn.

The steering gear and struts needed to be replaced.

My wife and son were parking the vehicle when a creak followed by a loud popping noise occured.at that point, the vehicle could not be steered.the vehicle was towed to the local chrysler dodge dealer ship in frisco, tx for analysis.subsequent report from the dealership was that both pins holding the tie-rod ends to the rack and pinion steering box had sheared.in addition, the rack and pinion steering box had a crack.don't know if the pins sheared first or the crack in the box came first.the steering wheel inside the car could be rotated 360 deg. In either direction with no accompaning action of the tires on the ground.absolutly no steering control whatsoever!this was a total collosal manufactureing defect in the steering that has happened before (check the website complaint # 10053466) in tucsan, az around january of 2004.my rack & pinion steering box was replaced at 35k miles by this same dealership while still under warrenty due to a malfunction while steering the car.i'm just greatful that my wife and son were not out on the highway when this major failure occured.someone is going to get killed if this is not fixed!quit ignoring the fact (chrysler) that there is a engineering defect in this vehicle model!

During 4 yrs of ownership, i am experiencing the worst. I just had my rack and pinion replaced after steering wheel would not return or would lock in place after making a turn left or right and feeling as though the chassis was falling out from underneath my car. I was also told that i will need my stabilizer bar replaced after complaining about erratic shaking sometimes severe when making a stop whether coming off the highway or driving on a street. It has gotten pretty bad lately. I have not been in any accident since purchasing my car custom ordered.last year i had to have my actuators in all doors except driver side replaced due to malfunction. Wasn't able to open by remote or manually except when i pushed the remote first then lifted lock manually. I have had my door rubbers replaced 2 yrs after ownership and they need to be replaced again because they have pulled from frame. Rubber around lights have pulled away also which gives the car a very 'cheap' look.

The rack and pinion steering system in my 2000 chrysler concorde failed to operate without any warning.

Steering problem...first went out turning to the left only..now it makes terrible noise when it is cold till it warms up but power only works turning to the right...been told rack needs to be replaced..

Rack and pinion steering failed with 48000 miles.

Contacted the dealer several months ago about rattling/loose sounds under car and they claimed to not find anything, but this could be related to the rack & pinion issue since it failed soon after.

While driving power steering failed.this was caused by a failure in the rack and pinion steering gear which mustbe replaced, per the dealership.

While pulling into a parking lot steering mechanism broke.consumertried to restart vehicle. Consumer hadvehicle towed to the dealer for analysis, andmechanic confirmed that the mainbolt connected to rack and pinionsheared off.mechanic replaced the rack and pinion and the bolts.*mr

Rack and pinion steering was making a rattling noise and then it felt as if the power steering went out, but only in one direction.the dealer said the whole left rack had to be replaced.the vehicle had 47,000 miles and was three years old.

Backing out of our garage (straight without turning) at home;the steering wheel suddenly didn't respond to any action from driver (my wife) after a "snapping sound" was heard. No prior accident or known damage to trigger this. If this would have happened while driving on a highway or other busy artery, the outcome might have been with personal and/or material consequences. Hopefully this wasn't the case.this is a chrysler concord xi 2000 with 38,000 miles, and overall in pristine conditions.

While turning, the steering wheel locked up temporarily. The shop mechanic determined thatproblem pertained to the steering rack.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.the steering loss was intermittent over a period of two days.the steering wheel was loose and would lock up at times. *sc

Chrysler 2000 concorde lxi steering rack failure.

Chrysler concorde lxi, model year 2000, mileage 71930:leaving driveway, turning right, upon trying to center steering wheel after turn, it would not turn back to the left and i ran off the road to the right. Minor damage. Backed out and only could steer left with extreme effort. Managed to get car back into the driveway. Call mechanic, told me rack and pinion had failed - common problem on 2000 concorde. If i had been traveling at highway speeds, this would have been really bad.

Rack & pinion steering & now wheel bearings.

Both front door seals have shrunk leaving a 1" gap.water enters around top of door. Also, the dust seals around both headlamps have shrunk, cannot get them back on.

A long piece of plasticis located between the windshield and the hood. When wind gets under the plastic at high speeds it can fly off and cause an accident. Consumer feels this piece of plastic should be mounted tighter.

Chassis integrity. The chassis mounts deteriotion in less than four years resulted in the struts malfunctioning, the transmission coolant lines leaking to the extent that the transmission could not be powered while driving on an interstate highway.

On july 3,2003 i took my car in for service and told them it was leaking. The car leaks at all doors and in the trunk. Also the trim around the headlights is coming out. I was told that there would be a charge of$134.49 for the headlight trim repair and $201.17 for the new door gaskets. The trunk i was not given an estimate on because they said the water doctor would need to repair that. I told them that i felt that the car was defective and i should not have to pay for any repairs.i was called back a week later and was told that the manufacturer would pay 1/3 of the cost of the repair, the service dept. Would pay 1/3 of the cost and i would be required to pay the remaining 1/3. I am not happy with this arrangment as i know this a defect in the car.

While driving at 55 mphplastic molding under the windshield wipers came off.this molding struck the windshield, went over the vehicle andstruk a vehicle behind the consumer's vehicle. The consumer indicated that there was no warning that this was going to happen.

A molding piece located on the hood by the windshield flew off in traffic.this occurred while driving at 55 mph.the molding was 5 feet long and4 1/2 feet wide.the reason for the part coming unattached was undetermined.*scc

The lifts on the hood and trunk have both been replaced because of falling. The door and headlight trim is going to have to be replaced because it has pulled completely off the doors and headlights because of shrinkage, then while driving down the interstate at 65 miles an hour the hood molding came flying off and went over the top of the car and landed in the ditch. These are defects which i feel chrysler should replace.

Dt: contact statedwhile driving the plastic trim between the windshield and hood began to vibrate.the vibration started in the center and then the plastic trim came off. Upon inspection, he determinedthat the plastic clipattachedto the trim ofthe metal broke.the plastic clips weakened and disconnected fromthe car. The dealership did not inspect the vehicle to see why it came off.the part has not been replaced.the dealership told the contactto report the problem to chrysler.updated 11/16/2005.

Consumer states that all the rubber surrounding various vehicle body components is "popping" off.specifically the rubber surrounding the headlights, doors and windows.dealer is unable to determine cause.

A sensor within transmission malfunctioned, causing vehicle to completely shut down without warning.input speed sensor was replaced, also the right rear door lock was inoperable, parts are on order.*jg

The vehicle makes loud noise at highway speeds because the door gasket was improperly installed, the consumer belives the vehicle is a lemon.yh

Door moldingis separating from its frame, causingseveral gapes. The cause of the problem is yet to be determined.

The front driver plastic door knob handle broke while exiting the vehicle.the dealer replaced the handle at the owner's expense of $489.00.it cost so much to replace the handle becauseitwas attached to theentire unit.*sc

We were traveling about 40 mph on the front beach road in panama city, fl, during christmas 06 the plastic piece between the windshield and the hood flew off and hit our windshield very hard and flew over our car.it was dark and we were not sure what hit our windshield until the morning and we saw that long piece was missing from our car.we went and tried to find the piece that flew off on the side of the road, but could not find it.we are not sure how much this piece will cost us, but i feel for it to fly off and hit our windshield was very dangerous and not sure if it hit anyone behind us.i feel after reading this complaint several times on this site that chrysler needs to research his problem and fix the problem and reimburse us who have lost this piece to their negligence.

While traveling about 65 mph on the highway and without prior warning.the plastic strip attach to the hood flew off.dealer is aware of the problem.mr

Trunk gas struts have failed twice. The original and a warranty replacement set. The car has about 54000 miles as of now. The last set let the trunk lid almost fall and strike my wife on the head while loading groceries.

Dt:2000 chrysler concord.the consumer stated when opening the trunk it fell down hard.the hydraulic lifts that hold the trunk open had to be replaced.the dealership did not know why this happened.the consumer stated the trunk was not opened often.both were replaced, left and right lifts.

The hydraulic mechanism's that hold up the trunk and the hoods on chrysler concords and other models have a tendency to allow the hood or trunk to close suddenly without warning. I have experienced this on my 2000 concord and my mother's concord also. It is not a matter or excess wear because there are only 50, 000 miles on my car thehood has only been opened about a dozen times give or take a few. The event that prompted me to file this complaint left a huge welt on my head, almost knocked me unconscious in a store parking lot, and made it necessary for me to seek medical advise from the bcbs hotline. The trunk of my car closed suddenly while i was moving my head toward it to put groceries in the truck. I have also had the hood slam shut on me but at the time i was not under it. The hood and trunk have considerable weight and if they catch someone with the full force of their fall i have no doubt it could be fatal. The failure is more prevalent in cold weather. In fact, my trunk and hood will not stay up on their own in cold weather and this is since the car was new. The incident thathappened to me happened in warm weather however. I am surprised there has never been a recall on these parts. As i stated earlier i have seen this problem on more than one chrysler. This never happened when the hoods and trunks were held open with springs. So much for advanced technology.

Consumer noticed while driving a rattling noise coming from under hood. Vehicle was service by technician, notice front framebushing cradles were missing.

While driving the front end made a noise.*nlm

Squeek or grinding type noise coming from front shocks when going through dips or over speed bumps. Dealership pushes down on front end, says they don't hear it and refuses to investigate. Has been continuous since early ownership but getting louder with age/mileage.

The steering gear and struts needed to be replaced.
