Since 2010, the car has had many electrical issues that have resulted in over 5,000 dollars in repairs and the problems continue to persist.in 2010, the car began having intermittent lighting issues and failure of the trunk latch opening mechanism. In aug 2010, the bcm was fixed/replaced.since then, the a/c has become the problem that has led to thousand of dollars of repairs.the problem is that intermittently the a/c will not respond to changes in the temperature controls and only 180 degree air comes out.the dealer has replaced almost all mechanical parts of the a/c and the electrical controls with the exception of the bcm.the problem continues and now the so call new bcm is no longer under warranty.

Yesterday i had to go to the hospital because the trunk lid fell on my neck when i was unloading my trunk.this car has an electrical trunk that opens and the trunk also, has a spring air rod that controls the hold of the open trunk.i know this failed because the trunk just lost its hold all of a sudden and landed on my neck.as i tried to lift it from above me (its very heavy- big trunk), my left hand indexfinger broke and my left arm and hand are in pain.not to mention, the severe pain i am undergoing with my neck. I also bled a lot and immediately went to the emergency room.i believe this can be a manufacturing defect due to the excessive weight of this trunk door and the device being relied on for the control of trunk.

An independent mechanic on two separate occasions reset the crank shaft sensor code. The failure continued to occur after the repair was made in addition, the vehicle stalled intermittently. The contact had concerns of the safety risk involved.the failure and current mileages were 121,000.

Dt: on june 23 2005 while driving down the road the engine began to jump. Owner was going 45 mph. There were no warnings until the engine light came on almost at the same time the engine began to jump. The power steering and brakes still worked so owner slowed down , and got into the right lane in case the car stopped completely.car was taken to the mechanic who stated that it was the timing chain and other factors in the engine.manufacture has been contacted, but will not cooperate with owner.the car had only been driven for five minutes.there were no other problems with vehicle. The chrysler 2.7 engine. Mine ceased to exist august 16, 2005 co-incidentally one month after i had the ac/evaporator, cooling system fixed. For the second time! after reviewing many of the complaints of numerous websites including consumer auto safety, i absolutely cannot believe chrysler can still make denials about product liability and get away with it. For all the complaints in which the engine failed while on the highway and loosing power steering, a death would have to occur first in order for chrysler to issue a recall. The damage to them would be tremendous having known all along about these complaints of faulty engines as other manufacturers have had to admit! i currently was offered by impartial services group hired by chrysler a mere 5,000 for my dead defaulted engine. I denied it, because the estimates were over 7,000. And these "replacement" engines had the same miles as mine when it died, and i was given a mere 90 day warranty. This is the craziest thing i have ever heard of. Why cant one of these organizations enforce this recall? i currently have my dead vehicle sitting on a friends driveway by an intersection with a lot of traffic. Attached with a sign chyrsler engine oil sludge! and that is where it will sit until i have a full remedy. This is my right!

After the consumer changed the oil, the engine light illuminated the dash board. A little whilelater, the light was on and off, suddenly the engine stalled and never startedagain.an independent mechanic indicated to the consumer that 2.5 engine was garbage, andneeded to be replaced. The consumer believed the problem was a bad oil pump.

I had a a/c diagnostics test at maxwell(chrysler/plymouth) 6905 i.h. 35 south austin, texas 78715 on april 5, 2003. Service advisor: 9 doug shaw told me i needed fan belts(two at $165), rt cooling fan motor soon($236.00 for cooling fan motor, and other engine cooling fan motor replaced but if cooling fan motor only at $322.14), evaporative coil(at cost $1035.00), evac&recharge-add dye($145.00 cost) for testing. I had someone else put on the rt cooling fan motor and put fill it up with freon. It is still not working properly. Sometimes it will come on and blow cold air sometimes it won't. But it will not come on right away.driver's door radio door speaker has a buzz.

The engine started to make a wierd noise. Vehicle was towed to dealer, dealer stated engine completely failed due to slug build up.

Engine light came on at about 30 mph and i heard a light ticking sound.engine was shut down immediately and car was towed into a garage. I was told the engine seized , and would cost $5,000 to replace e it. My car has 87000 miles, but i contacted chrysler anyway and was told they couldn't help .my car sits because i cannot afford the cost of a rebuilt engine.

While driving down i-45 in conroe, texas, my engine sputtered, jerked, and died.as you know when you lose engine power, your steering wheel becomes locked up and its almost impossible to control the car.it has died on me before but on back roads almost home or at an intersection.i didn't realize the seriousness of it until it happened on the freeway and there are people coming up on me doing 70-80 mph and i am quickly coming to a dead stop.

When driving consumer heard a knocking noise, and sludge coming from the engine.consumer had the vehicle towed to thedealership, but dealership did not resolve the problem.

The contact owns a 1999 chrysler concorde.the contact stated that the abs light illuminated and she heard a noise in the engine compartment.the mechanic stated that the pump motor circuit for the abs failed and caused the light to illuminate.the approximate cost to repair the vehicle was between $1,500 to $2,000.the front rotors were replaced in april of 2006 and in september of 2007.in january of 2007, the front driver side bearing was replaced.the mechanic stated that the failure was due to poor design and cheap parts.the air conditioner also began to leak.the mechanic stated that there was a hole in the suction line because of the design, and it rusted and rubbed through another part of the vehicle.the air conditioning suction line was replaced in september of 2007.the leak could have potentially caused a fire.the mechanic stated that the power steering kit needed to be replaced.the vehicle could easily rust into the frame and condensation could collect.the vehicle is currently hesitating and surging.the current mileage was 78,100 and failure mileage was 78,000.updated 03-04-08 the leak of the power steering hose could cause a fire. 1999 chrysler concord2.7 liter engine-has history of engine failure.my 1999 concord now has smoke coming from the exhaust pipe, rough idle when cold, and also has intermittent oil pressure light illumination (all within 24 hours of the car being serviced for the oil light problem).

Experienced engine failure due to sludge build up caused by car heater.

My car shut off while at a stop light.it started back up, but making this awful rattling noise.i had a auto shop tell me a few things and i paid to get a few repairs that cost me closed to $1,000.then before i could get a repair done to the timing chain of my '99' concorde, it shut down on me as i was leaving work.i had to get it towed from the middle of traffic, during rush hour and it is now in my garage waiting to be repossessed.

Entering on-ramp to interstate. Car starts clunking, vibrating, clicking. Car dies on the on ramp on an interstate. Car died at 5:30 pm, it's dark out and almost hit by numerous cars speeding up to merge onto the interstate. 2 small children in the backseat. Cannot remove until help arrives because it is 5 degrees above zero outside.towed car to local repair shop. Timing chain tensioner needed replacement. Clean sludge from oil pan. Found oil sludge and metal shavings in the oil pan and the oil screen.$834 in repairs and now engine has very loud knock. Repair shop tells me the engine is basically shot and nothing can be done to fix or salvage.

I have a 1999 chrysler concorde lx with a 2.7 engine. My wife was driving down an access road at about 45 mph when the car started losing power. She thought it was because of the air conditioner but when it stopped it died. No warning lights came on to tell her anything was wrong. Did not notice temperature getting hot. Had it towed to mechanic shop. Mechanic said it had water in the block with the oil. Said it needed a new motor. To rebuild mine, at his cost, would be $4500.00. This is without the labor of removing and reinstalling motor. Other option- wait until a used one becomes available. That would cost $1700.00-- $2700.00.i have found many similar stories on this web sight. Bdm.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 65 mph on the interstate a loud noise was heard and the vehicle stalled.the vehicle was maneuvered off the road and towed to the dealer who determined the crank bearing fractured and the engine needed to be replaced.

I was driving my 99 concorde on a curvy road when engine started knocking and died. I had only manual steering and no brakes. It took all of my strength to keep it from going off a curve. I called the tow service and had it towed to a garage. They said a rod bearing had gone out of the engine. After numerous calls to chrysler and the district mngr. He had it towed to the dealership where i bought it. To rebuild my engine (with their discount) was $6300.00. Another rebuilt engine was $7300.00 a new engine was $8300.00. I have records this car was babied and regularly serviced. Chysler has denied their problem with hundreds/thousands of the 2.7 l engines saying the sludge build up in the engine causes the blow up. They blame the owners for poor maintenance. So now i have a lawn ornament in my driveway. I refuse to pay this. I can buy another used whole car for that. I've been a chysler man for years as was my father. I have 3 now. When they are gone. That's it. Believe me i will research my next auto i purchase.

Oil sludge causing engine failure.

Dt consumer states that on august 20, 2005 the vehicle completely came to a stop while going at 40 mph, the vehicle lost power. Consumer hadittowed to the dealer . They said the cam shaft cracked and broke, and there was metal flying in the engine. The vehicle would turn over, but would not start. There was no forewarning prior to this incident. The dealer said this was a common problem.the engine was known to be a sludge builder whether highway or city driving. Consumer contacted the manufacturer, they said there was no problem with the engine.

I was hoping you could give me information about a possible class action lawsuit concerning chryslers 2.7 engibne.i have a 1999 chrysler concorde.july 30th, 2004my car started making a horrible noise and stopped running as i rolled into my mechanics place of business.he was able to listen to it and immediately told me of the problems he has seen with this engine and thought there might be a silent recall, i should take it to a chrysler dealership.i had it towed to the dealership, where they diagnosed a bad timing chain.after researching this i didn't feel that it was myresponsibility and contacted chrysler customer relations.after several calls, they finally agreed to pay for only the parts, i was responsilble for labor.by the way, my car has approx. 44,000 miles.after replacing the timing chain, i called to see when my car would be ready and i was told that the engine is still making noise.the short block and oil pump was gone, therefore,i needed to replace the engine at my cost of $5,500.i reminded them of the 2.7 engine problems, which fell on deaf ears.customer relations are of no help either, they claim that the timing chain didn't cause engine failure, but the oil pump did.they will not assist with any of the charges.i asked them to not fix it because i am trying to get help with this.i have requested a service rep. To assist with this matter.chrysler also requested to see if i had neglected the car before paying for parts on the timing chain.they found no evidence of sludge or abuse.just like everyone else, i am extremely upset about this matter.i purchased the car with the intent of it lasting longer than it has, especially with such low mileage!i would appreciate it if you could contact me with any information.

I have a 1999 chrysler concord [xxx] which i bought used from bud brown chrsyler. The mileage at the time i had bought was 55286. I had change the oil regular. At about mileage 62400 my engine fail. I come to find out pricing to repair the engine. My car engine is know to go out (2.7l). From what i understood when built the oil pump wasn't big enough to circulate the oil and cause a sludge built up. I was driving back to work when my went out and was with out my car for an month.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

1999 chrysler concorde. I experienced engine failure at 105,000 miles. My mechanic has informed me thatthis is a problem that dodge is aware of and that there is a class action suit against them.

While driving the engine completely locked up. Consumerhad the first engine 2.7 replaced with a rebuilt 2.7 liter engine. Dt*: the contact stated the engine was knocking.the knocking started intermittently and has become progressively worse.the dealer determined the engine needed to be replaced due to sludge buildup.no repairs have been made to the vehicle.

Air conditioning continually goes out. As car has expired warranty, chrysler says they have no obligation to repair. I disagree. I believe that chrysler, and in my particular situation, has a faulty a/c system.

Car engine failure at 90,000 miles.was traveling on i-75 at 70 mph, engine gave no warning, just had cam shaft sensor replaced and oil sensor replaced, this was the second time for both items in the past year. Have not gave authorization to replace engine, cost estimated at 6000.00.was told by mechanic this a problem with the vechile.contacted chrysler, was told i should have bought a new vechile instead of buying a used one.this only had 50,000 miles on it when purchased, but i travel over a hundred miles to and from work daily.engine should not have failed at 90,000 miles.

Total engine failure of 1999 chrylser concorde 2.7l engine.

While driving at 50 mph, the consumer heard a loud fluttering sound under the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle immediately lost power and a few seconds later itstalled.the vehicle was towed to the dealer, who informed the consumer that the serpentine belt snapped.the dealer found the timing belt idler tensioner bolt broken off in the block andthe water pump leaking they drilled out the broken bolt and replaced the timing belt and tensioner, the engine was cranked over and the discovered that all cylinders the had no compression. While driving home from work my 1999 concorde with 90,000 miles on it started knocking very loudly.i had to shut the vehicle down because it sounded like the motor was tearing itself apart.had the vehicle looked at by a mechanice who said the motor needed to be rebuilt or replaced at a cost of about 3000-4000 dollars.the vehicle still sits in my driveway today making payments on it.this happened in 2004 and its now 2007.great way to back your product chyrsler by telling me i didnt maintain proper maintanance.want to see the reciepts.

Chrysler concord 2.7 engine driving down hwy oil light came on loud knocking under hood car stoppedtowed car to dealer.they said i had a blown enginei change the oil every 3 to 35 hundred miles. They said that the engine had excessive sludge. After talking to several other engine people they said that the 2.7 engine has a habit of blowing at around 75000 miles

While driving the car shut down with out warning or lights.total shutdown without power steering on busy road.the engine locked up due to engine sludge.the engine had to be replaced with new block because the poorly designed engine could not be rebuilt due to the fact that the cylinder walls are too thin.used engines are not available because the problem is so widespread.

Car stalled, oil light came on, car started making knocking noise, towed to chrysler.dealership and was told the only way to fix it was a new engine. At my expensehave since found out this is an ongoing problem with this motor and chrysler wont do anything about it, i have maintained this car with regular oil changes every 3000 t0 3500 miles. I have been told the cost is 5000.00 to replace the engine.i am devistated by this and think chrysler needs to own up to its defective motors.

Dt*: the contact stated the engine started making a tapping noise while idling.the vehicle was towed to a dealership.the dealership determined the engine seized and needed to be replaced, however no repairs were made.the vehicle has been maintained including oil changes on a regular basis.

Dt*: the contact stated while traveling 40 mph, the engine began to knock.the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop who determined the rods were about to blow and the engine should be replaced.

Air conditioning/heating unit does not cool or heat properly. Has been investigated regularly without chrysler dealer "finding" anything.on particular date below it was a very cold morning, used heat and drove 3 kids 20 miles. Stopped for half hour, got back in car and car sounds like a diesel engine - rough and loud. I was alone with the 3 kids.asked a couple of men to listen, they thought cylinder(s) were gone as noise lowered when engine revved. (by the way, this car has had 2 transmissions already, with 73,000 miles). Limped home scared to death on interstate highway with the 3 kids.stopped at service station, told not to drive as engine was failing.called aaa and they came and towed to chrysler dealer. Dealer was unable to replicate the diesel sound and "found nothing wrong." today is nov 24th 2003 and this morning the same sound is back in my engine. The heat only works when i am moving, not at idle, and leaves a very odd smell in the car if the car is left idling with the heat on.i have a 5 month old, a 5 year old and an 8 year old, i am getting very frightened to drive this car with them in it anymore. I did an online search and found that this ac/heat problem is prevalent in this model (chrysler concorde 1999) and can create sludge in the engine that causes sudden engine failure.i want this fixed and i want you to get after chrysler about this! *la

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 30 mph to purchase a replacement tire for the vehicle, a rattling noise was heard. While the vehicle was at the independent repair shop, the mechanic attempted to restart the vehicle, but it would not start and made a rattling noise.the mechanic determined that the timing chain was broken. There were no warning signals prior to the failure. The noise began on the day of the incident. The engine was replaced 2 to 3 years prior to this incident. Through research on the internet, the contact found many complaints regarding the engine for this year, make and model. There was a class action suit on the internet as well.the vehicle had regular maintenance and oil changes performed.

Engine started making loud knocking noise.had the car towed to chrysler.chrysler reports that the timing chain came loose and caused severe damage to the water pump and engine and the timing chain, water pump and engine need to be replaced.they report that there were no oil leaks and filter and plug were in place and dealer could not explain cause. I have spoken to chrysler corp. And the dealership.chrysler agreed to help with repair until they found out the engine was damaged and needed to be replaced. The repair will be 6,700 dollars.i see there are other reports of this same problem.would like to know if others received any financial assistance from chrysler and what my next steps should be.

Was driving north on mi 31 bypass heading for schroeder motors to pick up my dodge ram pick-up truck that was in for service. Turned onto napier rd going west and heard a clapping sound like a baseball card in the spokes of a bike. I thought a piece of paper got into the fan blade. There were no warning lights that came on. Just as i pulled into schroeder motor mall the car died and that was the end. It rolled to a stop right into a parking spot. I had there mechanics look into it and he had told me that the water pump looked like it failed and caused the timing chain to slip resulting into warped valves. I was given an estimate to replace engine for about $6700.00. They were going to allow me $1000.00 for my troubles off of the bill. Mechanic put all of the parts in my trunk and i had the car towed home where it will set until i get some answers.

Here is a copy of our sales ticket that explains all of the updates that we perform on this engine.hopefully this will help you.if you have any further questions feel free to contact our customer service department at 1-800-827-7450.--oil starvation is a problem with this engine, so jasper installs the newest design oil line which has a larger diameter pipe to allow more oil flow and better lubrication. The newer design pipe has one gentle bend opposed to the original which had two 90-degree bends which tends to restrict to oil flow. --to prevent bearing failure jasper installs aluminum rod & main bearings instead of tri-metal bearings.the aluminum bearings conform to the mating surface more completely, which provides more exact clearances.the aluminum bearings are also more corrosion resistant.the original tri-metal bearings were prone to not conform well, which led to dirt and debris becoming lodged in the bearing due to excessive bearing clearances. --water pumps on this engine have been known to leak or fail.one of the issues leading up to this was due to the timing chain tensioner. It would apply more tension to the chain then was needed, causing stress on the water pump.jasper installs a later design tensioner, which applies the right amount of tension on the timing chain and reduces the stress on the water pump. Jasper installs the newest design oe water pump & water pump gasket which will seal to the block better than the original oe design. --with the use of an mls gasket, the standards for machining on the head and block have been increased to insure that the gasket can seal properly.this is to help prevent coolant from entering the oil cavities causing damage to the engine. ----jasper does not install the cam gear balancer due to a bulletin from chrysler effective 12/14/01 stating it is not needed and not serviced from this time forward. --do not remove from core and install on jasper's engine. --live run tested oil.

I own a 1999 chrysler concorde lxi.i have had numerous problems with this car since i have owned it.lot of little things. Window motors, cooling fan, transmission overspeed sensor, and the list goes on.now the air conditioner is going out, having to service it about every 2 months.why i am writing though is the steering.seems like it is going bad.i feel this is a safety issue and read many complaints on your web site concerning this.why hasn't a recall been ordered for this and the speed up issue?

1999 chrysler concorde engine failure at 90000 whille wife and children in traffic engine failure due slug build up. Mechanic said it would cost $4600.00 to replace engine still owe 11000 on it, and cant afford to repair. Mechanic said slug build up is due to oil pump design also have ac problemand have had radiator fan failure twice , speed sensor failure, broken window clips, brake shimmy , broken recliner seat bolts

I have a 1999 chysler concorde, 2.7 liter, with 85,000 miles.the engine began knocking and then the oil light then came on.i stopped the car on the expressway.after sitting i could restart the engine, drive a short distance (.1 miles) before the light would come on again until i got to an exit.the car was then towed to a garage.they have diagnosed likely bearing failure requiring an engine rebuild.the oil pressure is dropping as the engine warms up.they found metal shavings (brass)in the oil.until this problem, the engine had not knocked or had any valve noise or other issues indicating low oil pressure.i have generally changed the oil every 3,000 miles.this failure seems premature and without warning.the safety issue is that motorists are left stranded on the expressway due a possible defect involving the materials used in the manufacture of this particular engine.while the mileage exceeds the manufacturers warranty, the failure is extremely premature.

2.7 engine seized.

While driving at 40 mph, the vehicle stalled on a side street.the vehicle was towed to a repair shop.the mechanic informed the consumer" the engine had seized up and a new one was needed".the manufacturer and the dealer were aware of the problem.

While driving, the engine failed.previously there was a knocking noise.after getting off the road it did start again.this was the first time this had ever happened. The consumer took to the vehicle to the dealer and mechanicsaid the rod bearings were gone.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving at normal speeds the engine stalls without prior warning.although the engine stalls, the abs, check engine, battery, and interior lights illuminate.the vehicle can be restarted after this occurs, but continues to stall again.the vehicle was seen by the dealership, but no repairs were made.

Vehicle stopped running and would not restart.consumer left the vehicle, and went back the next day, and it started.vehicle was driven to the dealer, where they discovered sludge in the engine, and the engine bearings were defective.

I own a 1999 chrysler concord (purchased new) and was told that my engine was "shot".to replace it will cost $5,000.this included $3,800 for the rebuilt engine and $1,200 for labor.this is ridiculous!!!it has 78,000 miles on it and i have always taken it in for scheduled maintenance.for a car that cost over $22,000 to need this kind of repair at these few miles is unacceptable to me. Perhaps i am naive. I wonder how many problems with the engine others have encountered, but haven't officially reported.many i am sure.i am working full-time as well as part-time to save money for a down payment to purchase a house this year.thanks to myengine being "shot" - my husband and i will have to forgo our dream of owning a home anytime soon.hopefully we can get past this and the interest rates will stay low enough for our two year old daughter to have christmas in her own home in 2004!!!

The timing chain busted through the casing that houses it in the engine.the dealership told me that the cause could be a flaw in the chain link, and it caused severe damage to the rest of the engine, and that the engine must be replaced.estimated cost is $7000.my comments to them were, if it is a flaw in the chain, shouldn't it be covered under the warranty?they told me no.i'm trying to find out if there has been othe occurrances of this priblem, and what my recourseand next step should be.

Complete engine failure due to build up of sludge and bearing material in oil filter causing timing chain to jump and engine to fail.luckily this happened at the auto repair shop, not on the highway, as many others have experienced.have literally found hundreds of complaints on the internet relating to the chrysler 2.7l engine and its propensity to fail.our 1999 chrysler concorde has less than 40,000 miles and has always received routine maintenance.we were among the lucky ones...our engine failed while backing out of the auto shop garage...instead at 65 miles per hour going down the highway.interesting how there are no warning lights...nothing to tell you this is about to happen.

Without warning on early monday morning around 12:15 am on the new jersey turnpike between exits 1 and 2, my family was driving from mayrland back to new york, my 1999 chrysler concorde lxi madea loud banging noise under the hood along with smoke and all the lights came on the car. The engine just stopped; i swerved and pulled along the shoulder. There was oil everywhere on the ground. When oil was poured into the car, it came right out. So, my car had to be towed to brooklyn, which costs $445. Luckily my in-laws live near by so my son and wife were able to stay there for the night. My mechanic inspected the car and said that his whole fist can fit in the engine block. He said that it was caused by internal damages and a bad oil pump. My car only has 63,000 miles and is only 5 years old. Now, i need to replace my engine and the part alone will cost me $2,200.

I have a 1999 chrysler concorde that has been at the atlanta dodge dealership since march 26. The engine has sludge build-up and will need to be replaced. The air conditioner was serviced before my trip to atlanta, yet i still experienced the unit making noises the day after we arrived. (thankfully, we arrived). Within an hour of the ac unit making noises, the engine died on i-20 west. I had the car towed to the dealership. I live in florida and purchased the vehicle only 6months old ago, it has about 79,000 miles. I had 3 regular oil changes during those 6 months, and one month before my business trip, i had a diagnosis test done at goodyear because the oil light was flashing on-an-off. Goodyear also changed the oil that 3rd time. Nothing was discovered. As a single parent of 4 kids, i was trying to rebuild my credit after a series of job layoffs. I have had auto rentalsfor the 5th week now and see no end in sight. Luckily, i did purchase an extended warranty, but no one is assuming responsibility for the defect, no one-- the warranty people, thrifty dealership (where purchased) or chrysler!i am sinking further into debt. This is so unfair to the consumer. I am more than angry. I will never purchase a car again without checking ?mycarstats? (i did a very generic online search and had carfax). And will never purchase a dodge or chrysler again.i am now searching for a mechanic?s special to get around town and to work.

My 1999 chrysler concorde had a complete engine failure.it happened suddenly & without any warning lights.i was stranded on i-40 in busy traffic.the dealership says that it "spun a bearing" & showed me some metallic glitter in the oil. The car now needs a new engine at a cost of approximately. $4500.00- 5000.00.i have a useless 1999 concorde with only 90k miles & i still owe $11.000.it had regular maintenance performed. *nlm

While driving on the highway; the engine of my 1999 chrysler concorde, had a catastrophic failure.there was an incident involving the timing chain that led to a great many failures, top so being the crankshaft, as i was told by the dealership i had evaluate the problem.the engine is the 2.7l dohc v6 that comes stock with the 1999 concorde.i changed my oil regularly and never expected the motor to fail at just over 42k miles.i was 400 miles from home when this occurred, and had to wait in a shopping center for several hours until we could arrange a way home for myself, my wife, and at the time my 5 month old daughter.

My wife's 1999 chrysler concorde (2.7 motor) shut down up at wal mart.i got a call from my buddy who said he thinks she needs a battery.i go up there, buy a battery, put it in, start the car and it is knocking to high heavens.i pull the dipstick and there is a grease like substance on it.i immediately go into wal mart and buy oil.i fill the crank case up and have her start it up again.i knocks for about fifteen seconds then sounds somewhat normal.i instruct her to drive home and i will follow her.it is about four miles to home.she makes it three miles and the car just shuts off and she struggles and gets it off the road.this occurred about two hundred yards from an exit and a red light.i called a tow truck in and had it towed to the dealer where i bought it.they called the next day and we went up to see them.they never once mentioned any problems with this engine.they simply suggested we either replace the engine which is very expensive or buy a new car from them.we bought a car because she and i work and both of us work thirty plus miles from home.to boot, they sold us another concorde!!! unbelievably i found out about this widespread problem with these engines today, 8-18-08 at a dealership.they were offering us very little for a four year old concorde and stated that engine as the reasoning.i was furious.we traded it off, lost our tails-again- and moved onto a more reliable foreign named vehicle.i started surfing around to make sure that this foreign dealership was not lying about the engine and found thousands of complaints.i figured i should do my part against these robber barons and enter the arena as well.the worst part of this whole thing is we refinance our house years ago and paid off that 99 concorde to get ahead.it blows up months later and we are back to square one and actually worse off because the 04 wasn't worth anything either.

Dt: the contact owned a 1999 chrysler concorde. The engine went out with only 49,000 miles on the vehicle while driving 55 mph.this did not cause an accident, they were able to steer the vehicle to the side of the road.there were no problems with the engine prior to this.the contact purchased the vehicle from a first time owner hehad the vehicle for about six months. The contact took the vehicle to a repair shop, and they told himengine had to be replaced, and thatcar needed oil changes often. The contact insistedthat during thesix months that he owned thevehicle he kept up with the oil changes, and didnot believe that was the cause of engine failure.

I was returning home from relatives house. Engine started to rattle and the engine died on me and my son. Repair shop told me of the problem with the chrysler 2.7 liter engines blowing. Car has 95,000 miles on it.

- the contact stated that his engine seized because of a lack of oil. The contact had the car taken to a local repair shop and he was told by the mechanic that the failure was do to a clogged oil line.

Dt*:the contact stated that there was blue smoke coming out from the exhaust system and a loud ticking noiseof the pistons hitting the head of cams. While driving, the engine eventually seized and failed resulting in an non-drivable state.when the manufacturer was alerted, they determined there was no problem with the 2.7 liter engine.updated 09/11/06.

The car's engine seized up in traffic, and thankfully someone helped me get it out of rush hour atlanta traffic before there was an accident.but, it certainly could have caused one.now the motor is shot and the car is undriveable.

Dt:the caller states thatwhile driving at 50 mph engine lost power. Hewas able to get it off the road. He had it towed to a garage. They said he needed a new engine. He was told that the oil drained out of it while the vehicle was in motion and that caused the engine to fail. Caller had the vehicle towed to his home. Manufacturer has not been contacted yet.

We purchased a 1999 concorde that had 39000 miles on it in 2001.we have put 21000 miles on it since then without a problem...until last week.i was driving my 5 year old son to school and the car died on me at a stop light.i put it in neutral and started it again and was able to make it to his school, 1 1/2 miles away.after dropping him off i got it to the end of the driveway and it died again.after it cooled down it started ok and i was able to drive it home, 6 miles away.at 4 miles it stalled on me again.when i got within 1/2 mile of home it started chugging on me and when i turned the corner on my street it died again.i got it started one more time and coasted into my driveway.we could not get it to start again until it had cooled down for 2 hours.we took it to a mechanic, not a chrysler dealer, who believed it was the cam sensor.because he felt it was a possible warranty item he suggested we take it to a dealer.we did, and they said there was no warranty so we had our mechanic replace the sensor.the day after that when we would stop at a signal the oil light would flash on and off.there was oil in it since the mechanic had also just changed the oil when he had it.we took it back to the mechanic.he felt there was something wrong with the engine, but he could not identify it.he again suggested we take back to the dealer since it only had 60000 miles on it and believed it should not have this kind of a problem.we received a call from the dealer today.they informed us the car needs a new engine.

My 1999 chrysler concorde engine failed without warning on 9/21/2006.i talked with two local mechanics who both have had over 20 years in their respective businesses and both indicated the engine in my vehicle is notorious for failing without any warning and that they both have seen several of these engines and have read the problems that have been associated to this vehicle and other chrysler products with the same engine.i have contacted the chrysler consumer center and they want me to have the car towed to the closest service center so that they can diagnose why the car failed with no apparent warning.they indicated they would not offer any reimbursement of the tow bill or cost of tearing the engine down if they determined the engine was not their responsibility.i am reporting a complaint now due to fact that i have read several incidents where chrysler has not offered any help on any of the repair cost on the vehicles that apparently have a real problem with the 2.7 liter engine failure and have not recalled the vehicles or tried to fix the problem prior to engine failure.

Stepson was driving car back from toledo ohio area to canton ohio and the engine in the car jerked and then just quit. Car was towed to local dealership and informed this morning that the timing chain had broker and destroyed the engine.after researching this today i find out that there are websites referencing this and many documented cases of this catastrophic failure happening to others. I called chrysler today and i was informed that they could do nothing since the vehicle is out of warranty and that i was not the original owner so chrysler could not establish how well the vehicle was maintained.

Dt: the consumer states that onchrysler 1999 concorde the engine filled up full of sludge and the engine was destroyed. This happened in october 2003. The car was sitting in the driveway of the owner, andit has not been fixed. The cost from the dealer was $7,600.00 for a new engine, but in canada it was $3,200.00.the owner was in canada when this happened. The dealer said that the owner did poor maintenanceon the car, and that caused it to fill with sludge. The ownersend the manufacturer a letter and has not had a response. The car set in the driveway for 2 years. The owner had to tow the car back to the states.was hoping that chrysler was going to fix the car, and chrysler dealership responded they were not going to fix it.the owner said that chrysler was taking the owner to court over the payments on the car. The ownerwanted chrysler to fix the engine and then will pay them the money.

I currently purchased a 1999 concord with the 2.7 engine and had the for 3 months . I took it in for a oil change yesterday and after driving the car back to work i looked out my side view mirror and seen a huge puff of blue smoke when i took off from a stop light. I took the that night to friend who is a mechanic and he told me that the engine is done. He told me about the engine failures on these engines and so i went online to see if he was telling me the truth and i was very surprised of the amount of complaints on the engine.. The price for a rebuilt is about $3500.00 and replacement engine about $6500.00 of which i cannot afford and i still owe $4300.00 on a pile of junk that i cannot drive. Is daimler going to remedy this problem and help us out with the cost or are they sitting on there thumbs waiting for the problem to go away?

I experienced complete engine failure while traveling at 55 mph on route 295 in new jersey. First i heard a sputtering sound then the car lost power. I had to cross from the fast lane to the shoulder while losing power. I just made it to the shoulder when the car stopped for good. There was plenty of oil in the car and in fact it had just been in the shop for another costly repair of $1500 for a leaky air conditioner compressor. A bad smell had been coming into the passenger cabinwhenever i turned on the heat or air conditioner. After having the car towed i was told that by the mechanic that this car was notorious for engine failure and that he could see metallic material in the oil clearly showing the engine was blown. To repair it with a rebuilt engine it would cost $5900 plus tax.

Timing clutch broke. Ruined engine. 100,000 miles. Otherwise in perfect condition. Too expensive to replace with a new engine. Especially with the mechanical history of this specific engine. The only offer i have received to sell this vehicle is the salvage yard. $100 if i bing it to them. $50 if they come get it. This is ridiculous. All other parts in perfect condition.

Sludge build up in vehicle's engine.*mrwhen the dealer was notified about the knocking in the engine and slow acceleration they told the consumer the entire engine block would have to be replaced. The engine cost approx $5721.04 in repairs and chrysler refused to cover the cost. The consumer found that a lot of engine replacement are due to a latent defect in the car from the chrysler websites and feels that chrysler should take some responsibilities in repairing the vehicle.

My 1999 chrysler concorde with 46,000 miles on it developed sludge in the engine causing the timing chain to come off its track and subsequently damagingother parts of the engine. The dealer says the engine needs to be replaced at a cost of $8,000. When i asked what caused the sludge, the dealer told me i didn't have the oil changed enough.when i produced documents to the contrary, the dealer told me the oil used must have been bad and broke down. I find this highly unlikely. To date, i have not gotten satisfaction from the dealer or chrysler. I am aware of others with the same problem.several of these people were also told the same thing by their dealers.it seems like it's a canned routine to deflect responsibility for this problem onto someone else. I believe chrysler is aware of this problem and is not standing behind their product.can anything be done?

1999 chrysler concorde died after the motor started knocking.*mr

Problems with vehicle's heater, engine making knocking noises and slow acceleration.*mrthe heater stopped working intermittently which lead to a build up of heat in the engine cabin, which in turn lead to a build up of sludge.during acceleration, the vehicle rattled and vibrated and it did not accelerate smoothly. The consumer was informed that the entire engine block needed to be replaced, which was the cause of the problems. Also the front window and power mirror were inoperative, the dealer found a bad window motor.

The bolt that holds the fan andengine pulley came loose, causing no steering ability, almost resultingin an accident.dealer said the problem was caused by the bolt being tightened too hard.

Dt: the contact stated vehicle stalled . This has been ongoing for the past two months. After the vehicle stalled it wouldnot restart and had to betowed to a dealership. Diagnostic testing found the throttle module needed to be replaced. The module was replaced but the vehiclecontinued to stall. Updated 12/27/2005.prior to the vehicle stalling the check engine light would flash, then the vehicle would slowly lose power then shut off. The vehicle would not restart for approximately 45-50 minutes.after the vehicle was restarted it would idle low and the engine would shake; then eventually shut off again.the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem.

I was driving back from a trip from ft. Lauderdale ,fl. On labor day 9/5/05. When my 1999 chrysler concorde just stopped for no apparent reason . I just purchased this vehicle 4 months ago and i am still making payments on it. The vehicle only has 75,500 miles on it.i have put on 5,000 miles since i owned it and have changed the oil twice already.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving at 65mph the engine started knocking.the vehicle was taken to a dealership were they determined the engine was defective.there was no warning prior to the incident.the manufacturer has been alerted however no repairs have been made.

I was driving my 99 chrysler concorde home and it started knocking and then died.my engine is gone.i have 3 kids and i have no means of fixing this.and now, no way to travel.

I was told by my mechanic that i have been burning oil extemely fast. He suggested a heavier weighted oil and engine restore. He also recommended that i get a quote on having my engine rebuilt since the car probably has loose rings and valves. (i was quoted a price in the $4k-$5k range). I think chrysler should build engines that last longer than 97,000 miles.i was driving home the other day and when i went to accelerate from a stop light and the car just died. Thank fully i was on a hill & was able to coast off to the side. I mangaged to get it started again, however in a different situation it could have caused an accident. It also happened to my 16 year old son, who is no longer allowed to drive the car, since i feel it is unsafe.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving, a knocking sound was heard in the engine.the vehicle was taken to the local independent mechanic for inspection.the mechanic recommended changing the oil filter and it was replaced.however, several months later, the contact heard the knocking noise again while driving at 35 mph.the vehicle stalled and the engine would not restart.the vehicle was pushed into a yard, were it remains.updated 04/11/06.

Friday, i was driving to work, the car felt like it was going to stall out, i luckily made it to work. It made an awful sound like something broke. Later that day, i took it to a nearby garage, the mechanic said the engine had blown & his suggestion was to take it to a junk yard & hope for a couple hundred dollars, other wise, it would cost 2000.00 for a remanufactured motor & 1000.00 for labor to install the motor. He also stated that the chrysler 2.7 motor was notorious for broken timing belts & the engines locking up.

Engine failure while driving a chrysler concorde 2.7 liter engine due to sludge build-up in the engine.no warning whatsoever. *la

Driving down interstate 265 at 55 mph, engine just quit, causing a potentially deadly situation. When the engine quit, it lost power steering and brakes. Car only has 70,000 miles.air conditioning quit working in may of 2003.

I bought a 1999 concorde with a 2.7l engine at the end of march of 06. On april 3, 2006 i got an oil change and other maintenance, and the car was at approximately 127k miles. All seemed well with the car.on 7/2/06, the day before my scheduled oil change, my wife took my car to work instead of her own, as she was going to the grocery store afterwards. At about 7:07 am, i get a call from my frantic wife, and she explained to me that she was on i-96 just before the exit to i-275 in michigan going about 70 mph and the car lost power and died without warning. My first thoughtwas "are you ok?" i immediately got up and went to where she was. The car would not even turn over. I simply thought it was the alternator. However, i was infuriated when the mechanic told us that the 2.7l engines in the 1998-2001 had a design flaw, wherein an unreasonable amount of sludge build up occurs, preventing the oil from circulating through the engine, which would explain why there was very little oil on my dipstick. The mechanic couldn't give me a price on the cost of fixing the problem, mainly because out of all of the cases that he's seen with this same engine, there have been no fixes. I cannot begin to explain how inconvenient this is for me and my family. Both my wife and i are students who work. From what i've been reading, the repair/replacement of the engine can cost up to $9,000 dollars. At this point, that's more than the car is worth now, and we simply don't have the money for this type of expense.

While driving 67 mph main engine bearing failed. Dealer determined that engine must be replaced.

While driving the engine light came onand the vehicle cut off.the vehicle was towed.it was discovered that the engine was defective.( aresearch was done on the 2.7 l engine, and the failure rate was great).

The engine seized and quit on our 1999 chrysler concord as i pulled into a local macdonalds.the vehicle was towed to our mechanic and we were informed that the engine needed to be replaced.thankfully, this did not happen the day before while i was in 65 mile an hour traffic.we had been experiencing oil burning for the previous two months.but the car seemed to be running fine.i had just had the oil changed 12 days prior to this incident.because our mechanic is having trouble locating a used engine, i began searching and found that we are not the only consumers of this product to have this happen to.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving at 30mph the vehicle stalled without warning.the vehicle was pulled over, restarted, and then driven home.the vehicle was towed to the dealership and it was determined the oil did not distribute properly in the engine causing a piston rod bearing to burn.the vehicle needs a new engine.

I purchased a 1999 chrysler concorde and after getting on the highway with the car to take it to my local dodge/chrysler autoshop (not even 3 minutes), the car failed and stalled on a major highway. I was able to pull the car onto the side and after calling several people and waiting for over an hour, i was told that the engine was probably locked and had it towed to a chrysler autoshop in the vicinity of where i stalled. I wasn't even able to make it to the next exit on the highway once i merged on the highway , approximately 1 mile from where i purchased it, the car stalled, no warning just stopped with 18 wheelers and everything behind me and almost crashing into me.

My engine in my 1999 chrysler concorde completely failed with no warning while driving under normal conditions. I kept my car in the shop practicing all periodic maintenance procedures.

Premature engine failure of the 2.7 liter engine found in the chrysler concorde.

1999 chrysler concorde engine failure at 90000 whille wife and children in traffic engine failure due slug build up. Mechanic said it would cost $4600.00 to replace engine still owe 11000 on it, and cant afford to repair. I suffered major loss in valu,e and my husband was in a very dangerous situation due to the failure of the 1999 concord engine.y 1999 chrysler concord had under 57,000 miles, and was diagnosed as needing a replacement engine due to oil sludge. Despite providing chrysler will oil change records showing the timeliness of maintenance to my engine, they claimed no responsibility. I was told i needed to replace my engine and that it would cost approximately $9000!!!my husband was driving the vehicle on the highway at a speed of approximately 65 mph when the engine started smoking, bogged down and started to "die". In order to avoid a potential accident, he had to immediately drive over the shoulder and through the grass so he could safely get the car off the highway and onto the side of the feeder road.the cost to replace or repair the engine was much more than the blue book value of the vehicle. In fact, the blue book value was deflated at least in part to failing engines of the concord. I had little choice but to sell my car "as is" for a mere $1000!!! my car was in very good condition prior the engine failure and i believe the blue book value was approximately $7000

I was stopped at a stop sign and pushed the gas pedal to proceed. When the gas pedal was pushed my car began to make loud screeching noises and lost power in the middle of an intersection.

My 1999 chrysler concord engine seize after an oil charge. I got the oil change on saturday and monday my car engine was knocking and by the end of the week the car was parked in the drive way. I researched the web for information on this engine and pretty much everybody that has this engine will have to use out of pocket money to fix the dame thing that cost twice its market value to fix.

Dt:the consumer owns a 1999 chrysler concorde. While driving, the vehicle began to make a noise and the engine just shut off. Prior to this incident the blower worked but there was no heat. The mechanic said the engine was bad and this was a bad year for these engines.

Without any warning, my chrylser concorde 2.7l engine suffered a complete failure.repair costs are near $5000 and upon research, i found this to be a common problem on chrysler 2.7l engines from 1998 to 2000.chrysler denies any allegations of the engine being faulty and that they are failing due to improper maintenance.the most that engine ever went between oil and filter changes was 4200 miles and that was a one time occurrence.the rest of the changes were done at or before 3000 miles.chryslers recommendation under normal conditions is 6500 miles.

Have had trouble with the 2.7 liter engine in my 99 concorde, sludging, excessive oil consumption, coolant loss and premature engine failure. Despite regular oil changes the engine would sludge up and cause tapping noises. Had the problem dealt with once in 2003 at area dealership under the extended warranty, at that time the dealer tried to charge me for the repairs stating it waslack of maintenance that caused the problem. Eventually they assumed responsibility and repaired the vehicle. Since then i have changed oil regularly as i had before and the problem of oil consumption persisted. I just added oil and coolant as needed between regular changes at the rate of approximately 2 quarts oil per month and 1 gallon of coolant per month. While driving home from work the engine very abruptly started to clack so i pulled over and had it towed to my regular repair facility, where i was informed the engine was no longer usable due to oil sludging and lack of oil circulation. Contacted chrysler corp. They instructed me to take it to the dealer that originally repaired it and they would make a determination after the dealer inspected it . This is the same dealer that tried to blame me for the original problem. Have researched this problem and have discovered this to be a rampant problem with this engine and that chrysler denies any responsibility. There are numerous web sites detailing the problems consumers are having with this engine and their stymied efforts to have chrysler deal with them fairly.when i called nhtsa they stated they had no complaints, i hope this one will prompt a further investigation.

While driving vehicle stalled.consumerwas unable to restart the vehicle, but managed to pull over, and hadvehicle towed.dealership mechanic had been notified, but was unable to resolve the problem.

I'm filing a complaint about my 1999 chrysler concorde.my car was in the shop for other repairs and when i picked the car up and drove it home and begin to give me problems so i turned around to drive the car back to the repair shop and it cut off right in the middle of the intersection.i had it towed to the shop and they called me and said the engine went out.i could not understand why and howdid this happen cause this was without warning and i only had the car for a short period of time and i kept the maintenance up on it.the repair shop said that this would be a hassle going thru the extended warranty company cause they would not want to replace the engine so i wanted a second opinion, i had it towed to another shop and they said the same thing, that this was a 2.7 engine and it's expensive and it's not worth anything and the warranty company will probably not cover much of anything.i feel that since this engine is known to have engine failure problems, something should be done about this cause it's not safe for an engine to go out without any forewarning and it's not affordable at all..please acknowledge this immediately.

2.7 eng. Failure chrysler concorde 1999 ,well maintained( it just stoped).

The engine in our 1999 chrysler concord blew at only 38000 miles, it was the famous flawed 2.7, chrysler refused to replace the engine - told us we must not have changed the oil often enough!my husband is a district supervisor for a oil change chain here in michigan, the oil was changed religiously with synthetic blend, an oil far superior to the basic factory recommendations.we replaced the engine ourselves at our own expense with a3.2at a cost of $3000.chrysler refuses to admit any defects in their 2.7 motors, yet other companies whom used this engine have voluntarily recalled it!

While on my way home from work at 2 am, i started to hear a loud "clunking" noise from the engine compartment on my 1999 chrysler concorde.i was on the highway, and the car rapidly decelerated to 25 mph.i managed to pull off into a rest stop, but didn't even make it into a parking spot before the engine quit.i found it amazing, since we just got the car back after $1600.00 in repairs four months ago.now, my mechanic is telling me that chrysler only made these engines to last for up to 5 years at the most, and he's not surprised.well, i am.a vehicle should last more than 5 years.now the only option the mechanic tells me i have is to purchase a whole new engine and replace the old one.

Sludge build up in engine has caused thru no error on my end a blown engine, with no warning. I need a new motor even after all the money i've put into it with sensors in the tranny, new window motor, rod knocking...and i changed oil in the car every 3,000 miles using the oil that chrysler recommends. There is so much sludge build up on this 2.7 engine that if it were a human artery the patient would have died too...this is an ongoing problem with these motors and no one will do anything to help us get it fixed, unless we have an extra $7,000.00 sitting around

Engine began to make noise. Shut down & towed to shop. During diagnosis noise got progressively louder & timing chain jumped. Engine needs to be replaced. Car has 59,000 miles & was always well maintained. My research on the internet has turned up many chrysler & dodge 2.7 litre engines from 1998 to 2002 with the same low mileage failures. Chrysler corp. Blames it on lack of maintenance, but that's hard to believe with so many identical complaints.

My 1999 chrysler concorde was maintained per the owners manual instructions yet the engine failed at 55,700 miles.please advise why chrysler has provided 50% of the cost to replace chrysler engines for other customer yet chrysler has not offered any financial help to replace the engine in my chrysler vehicle?

Ii bought a 1999 chrysler concorde in late october of 2003.it had low miles (35,000) and the dealership (a chevy dealership) gave me a 90 day or 3,000 mile warranty.i am faithful about taking care of my care so imagine my surprise when the engine light came on and as i was driving it to the chrysler dealership, it died.i had it towed there and they called me the next day and told me that the timing chain had gone out and that i would need to have it replaced.i gave them the go-ahead.but within hours, they called me back and asked if i had ever changed the oil in my car?i told them that i had within the last 1,000 miles.i had just purchased the car, and it had come with a 120 point inspection (including an oil change).the chrysler dealership said it was the worst case of sludge he had ever seen in his 17 years of working as a mechanic!i was stunned.i had just purchased this car!he told me i should have it returned to the chevy dealership where i purchased it, and demand that they repair it.well two days later, i have my car towed down the road to the chevy dealer and i call them to tell them the bad news.they inform me that they can fix it at the cost of $7300 for a new engine, $6300 for a rebuilt one or $5700 for a used one of 30,000 miles!i financed the car at a 9% interest rate on $7,000.if i pay for a new engine, i would be paying for this car 2 1/2 times over!i told them that it was unacceptable.they then told me the name of the local chrysler representative here in the greater cincinnati area.i have a phone call in to mr. Greg pritz but i have yet to hear back from him.do you offer advice or suggestions.durell - butch - hamm.

Engine started making loud knocking noise.pulled off of highway at next exit, drove into parking lot and stopped vehicle.had vehicle towed to dealer and was informed that the engine needed replacement due to oil starvation.dealer could not explain cause of starvation, as oil levels were normal, oil pump was functioning and oil was clean.dealer could also not explain lack of telltale warning lights for oil pressure, etc. Prior to event occurring.estimated cost of repair $5,000.this is apparently not an uncommon problem.have reported to chrysler although car no longer under warranty.am awaiting response.

I saw a light bluish smoke come from my tailpipe once and then later in my drive the engine started making funny noises and then all of the sudden my car seized up and shut off.it restarted but then shut down again almost immediately.my engine is completely shot says my mechanic with me getting almost no compression.i was not overdue on my oil change and i had just refilled my oil 2 days previous.

My car a 1999 chysler concord has approximately 70,000 miles on it. It has used oil ever since 30,000 miles mark i'm talking 3 quarts per oil change. I see in chyslers memo to dealers this is acceptable it should use 1 qt. Per 750 miles. At that rate it's empty on oil by oil change time at 3000 miles. Now i'm driving and a rod bearing goes out. Again another well known and documented problem with the 2.7 l engine. Here i sit making $400.00 payments on a car i can't afford to fix ($4000.00) to replace engine. Please help us to get a much needed recall!! thank you. *ph

A/c heater problems since car was new, control head replaced three times. Entire a/c system replaced by reputable independant auto/truck a/c company @ 60k miles. This independant company indicates that it's widely known in the industry that chrysler a/c systems are expected to fail @ 60k miles, and we can reasonably expect newly installed system to perform for 60k miles. We've spent over $2000 on the a/c,last month replaced with control head #3 @ chrysler dealer $300.00, still not working right... Clear that chrysler really has no clue... System is clearly defective. Problem very widespread, ask anyone. Most folks just give up, junk or trade.

Driving down interstate 265 at 55 mph, engine just quit, causing a potentially deadly situation. When the engine quit, it lost power steering and brakes. Car only has 70,000 miles.air conditioning quit working in may of 2003.

*la

Air conditioning continually goes out. As car has expired warranty, chrysler says they have no obligation to repair. I disagree. I believe that chrysler, and in my particular situation, has a faulty a/c system.

When i was in my car one day, i parked and tried to get out. The door stuck and i think this was because the rubber stuck to the door.. It took me fifteen minute to get out of my car. I had to lift up the bottom of the now detached inside plastic frame in order to get out of my car. In about a year< the same thing happened to the passenger door> my daughter tried to get out of the vehicle and the door got stuck... She pushed the door and the plastic inside frame detached from the door the same way the driver's side did.now we must lift that door too.. This happens almost all of the time and if there is an emergency and we have to get out, this is a huge concern. If there was a fire or crash..i met someone with the exact year and model care and they have the same problem... Please help me!

Brakes continuously lock, which causestires to lock and the car skids and pitches forward.our door locks are broken and the bottom portion of the back seat is coming out from the floor.when we purchased the car, we asked the salesperson (tim white) if the car was in good condition and if this was a rental car.he said"it had one owner."when i repeated this to the manager last week, he said it did.he stated that the owner was the rental company in florida.then i pointed out to the manager that one owner did not mean one driver. With it being a rental car it has had many drivers some not so careful as others. If i had been inforrmed of the cars true history and condition, i would never have purchased this automobile.( dot number:)

Air conditioning continually goes out. As car has expired warranty, chrysler says they have no obligation to repair. I disagree. I believe that chrysler, and in my particular situation, has a faulty a/c system.

While slowing to a stop the transmission makes noise (clunks).nlm

Dt:1999 chrysler concord.the consumer stateda sensor chip malfunctioned inthe transmission.this made the vehicle shift through the gears.the problem has been repaired.this started approximately 2 weeks ago onseptember 7, 2005.

Transmission failure after only 57,801 miles.

While driving 60-65 mph, transmission would not shift, then, there was a loud noise, and vehicle started to slowdown. Consumer was able to coast to shoulder. Towed to independent shop, transmission had to be replaced. 2 days prior, vehicle had been taken to dealer for problems with transmission, when in park it would roll, and when in drive it felt like it was in neutral. Dealer stated there was nothing wrong with transmission and it was safe to drive.

The car i was driving was a 1999 chrysler concord that had been in excellent driving up until the time of the incident.just three days earlier the automobile was serviced at a chrysler dealership service center for an oil and oil filter change. I inquired at the pick up event if the brakes were okay and it was reported to me that the were fine and that everything with this automobile was fine.on sunday, september 3, 2006, i started this automobile in my garage to go to church. After putting my seat belt on, i usually inch myself out of my garage very, very slowly. However, this time after adjusting the transmission lever from park to drive my automobile took off so fast i could not control it at all. I hit the breaks as hard as i could but my automobile would not slow down at all. Not only that, i could control the steering of my automobile at all. I live near the pacific ocean and there is a drainage ditch right across the street where i live that connects with the ocean. There is a chain-linked wire fence that separates the street from the drainage ditch.my automobile raced out of my garage, down my driveway, went across the street and hit the curb across the street where it force my automobile to swerve across the adjoining street to break through the chain-linked fence where it went down a concrete embankment for an approximate 20-foot drop until it completely stopped in the water. The car then began filling up with water until it became completely submerged. Fortunately, a neighbor happened to be looking out of his second story window of his house when this incident occurred and immediately called 911. Emergency personnel arrived promptly to save my life by pulling me out of the window of my automobile. I was taken by paramedic personal by ambulance to the emergency room of a nearby hospital were it was determined i had not sustained any immediate injuries at all.the automobile was later determined to be a totaled wreck.

Sensor on automatic transmission failed for second time.in each case, while at speeds in excess of 40 mph, car downshifted hard and in most recent episode, stalled in traffic.first replacement of sensor covered under warranty on 9/5/00 at 23,885 miles.part replaced was 4800878.second incident took place on 1/25/02 at 45,910 miles.part replaced shown as 4800879 but service manager at dealership (eddie accardi, pompano beach, fl) indicated he replaced both an input and output sensors (this is not reflected on my invoice however).in each case, failure came on with out any warning.car is driven by my wife (56 years old) who is an adequate operator.she says in most recent incident, when car downshifted hard, it also stalled in traffic.she had some difficulty restarting the engine, then pulled the car to the side of the road and called me.i drove the vehicle to the dealership at about 30 mph and 4000 rpm.check engine light came on, speedometer did not operate.would not shift to next higher gear.vehicle stalled each time i stopped for traffic light. Attempts to discuss this with chrysler customer service and service manger at accardi did not receive what i consider, a serious concern for the potential gravity of such a loss of power on the highway.in fact, a "manager" there told my wife and i that these things happen, will happen again and if people die, well that's why chrysler keeps a team of lawyers working.

I found five recalls on the safecar.gov site, yet i have never been notified of any of them.in approximately 2000-2001, i had a failure of the driver's seat, while trying to move the seat back for more room, where the back fell all the way down to a reclining position. I was not able to make it stay up.the dealer at the tme repaired it at an approximate cost of $1,100.00. Sometime later, i read in the newspaper later about a recall for the seats, and took it to joliet dodge, joliet, il, who is now out of business. They refused to do anything, telling me i had already had it fixed, and refusing to reimburse me for the cost to repair.fast forward to july 2014.when trying to move the seat back by using the lever for that and pushing back with my body, the seat back totally failed again. It goes all the way down, and will not stay up.because of the age of the car, and the fact that i am a retiree on only social security for a very limited income, and not being able to afford the cost to repair, i did a home made fix by putting my large plastic cooler on the floor in back of the seat to hold it up.i am lucky this happened while the car was in park, not moving, else i might have had a terrible accident.

I was parking on a parking lot and lot had a structured small post on the driver side; due to visibility that the vehicle lamp omitted to light properly, i damaged the front right corner bumper.i have noticed thatthe corner lamp assemblies have a problem with the reflectors.this lamp doesn't have the required amber side reflectors don't work well cause i can barely see (not like my other cars).there is a recall set already for part number cs114-u0bj2 which is a combination corner and lamp assembly for this vehicle.i am asked to contact sabersport who is doing the recall (recall id#09e012000 exterior lighting); however, their number is disconnected and their online contact number is a wrong number.at this point, i don't think its right that i have to pay for these repairs.even upon repairs,i need the vehicle with correct lamp assembly so it doesn't happen again.next time, could be a worse accident.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Air conditioning continually goes out. As car has expired warranty, chrysler says they have no obligation to repair. I disagree. I believe that chrysler, and in my particular situation, has a faulty a/c system.

While driving 60 mph vehicle accelerated to 80 mph,and brakes did not slow down vehicle. Consumer shut off engine.

My wife was backing out of a parking space when her car surged out of control, hitting a repair vehicle and grocery cart stand.most of the right side of the car was damaged.the dealer has declared nothing wrong with the vehicle, but this was an uncontrolable situation and only by luck was no one hurt.

Immediately after starting car & putting it into gear, it took off at a high rate of speed, even while foot was on brake pedal.driver served to avoid parked cars and went through a fence hitting a ditch, went across a street, hit another ditch before stopping. Also, there was no deployment of air bags. *cj

I put car in reverse in parking lot and it lunged forward at full throttle with tires smoking, sideswipping one vehicle and pushed parked 2nd vehicle 30 ft into parking lot isle.my foot never left the brake pedal (used to shift), and brakes were useless in trying to stop the car.after hitting the second car (totalling it) got car stopped by slamming gear shift lever into park.this is the 3rd instance of this happening in the milwaukee area that is known to us.substancial injuries were incurred in second instance where car when through garage door with severe facial injuries. The 3rd car went through a window of a business.all 3 were 1999 chrysler products.chrysler refuses to accept any blame for the accident and sent us a form letter saying the car was okay when it left the factory.our car was a chrysler concorde lxi, the 2nd a chrysler lhs, and the 3rd a dodge neon.

The vehicle was in an accident due to a malfunction of the engine. The vehicle unexpectedly began to accelerate.the owner shut off the engine and applied the brake, but the motor was going at such a high speed, the vehicle did not stop.the police did take a report.the consumer was looking for a place to park whenall of a sudden the vehicle had gone at an uncontrollable speed and when the consumer shut off the ignition and braked, the consumer hit a parked vehicle. *sc

I had just left church, and got into my car to come home.i put on my seat belt, moved the seat forward, checked the mirrors, and with my foot depressing the brake, took off the emergency brake, and looked over my left shoulder.as i did this, i viewed a white car stopped about two cars length behind me, waiting to exit the parking lot.they waived to me to go ahead.at this point my car was completely stopped.the column shifter was in reverse, and my foot was still on the brake pedal, when all of the sudden my car ( by itself ) went into full acceleration forward, about one and a half car lengths hitting a tree, without my shifting anything on the shifting column.the airbag did not deploy.the impact stirred up a huge amount of dirt and dust in front of my windshield.the tree was the only thing that stopped my car as the motor was still in full acceleration as i reached to turn off the ignition.many witnesses gathered around my car coming to my door to see if i was hurt.i have been in touch with daimler chrysler, and they refuse to except liability for what i am sure is a malfunction in this car!the exact same thing happened to my husband with this same car in sept of 1999, only the car went into full acceleration in reverse.

When driving and upon making a graudal stop after cutting off and restarting vehicle with foot depressed on the brake pedal, vehicle took off, resulting in unwanted and unexpected acceleration which caused consumer to run into a bridge.
