Received recall on driver airbag inflator, the parts are not available ,is it safe to drive and risk a potential deployment of defective airbags that can result in death or serious health risk. The intention to repair by manufacturer is good faith but what is safety without the correction of the defective airbags. .is there an alternative, perhaps a loaner car from the dealership until the parts can be replaced.

My vehicle recall was sent out about 4 months ago and the manufacturer still does not have replacement parts sent to the dealers to install--why?
Takata recall: it took over 2 years for my local (only dealer within 100 miles) to repair passenger side airbag recall (repaired 8/19/16). The driver airbag remains defective.i was told by dealer 8/19/16 they had no idea of how long it would take, that they could not put me on a waiting list, that i would have to wait for a follow up recall notice.in the interim i drive this deadly vehicle every day.the recall has been in effect far too long to not have the parts available.i suspect because i have an older vehicle, just like old people who need medical care under obama care, we are being put on the bottom of the list, hoping we either die or our cars are crashed, sold or otherwise disposed of by scrapping the older vehicles.this is ridiculous.

On saturday, january 23, 2016 we were leaving our home at approximately 6 pm. As we pulled out of the driveway, the airbag light on the dash came on. On our way home later that night and while traveling at between 55 and 65 mph while getting on to i-43 near green bay, wi. Both driver side and passenger side curtain airbags suddenly deployed despite there being no impact of any kind. As designed, the vehicle then shutdown completely, making steering extremely difficult. With considerable difficulty, i was able to maneuver to the side of the rode and come to a stop. Further inspection revealed no exterior damage to the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the closest chrysler dealer, who then read the codes with their computer. The codes indicated that the vehicle had sensed a "rollover". Obviously, no "rollover" had occurred. Chrysler would not repair or replace the airbags or airbag module because they said the vehicle was out of warranty. Chrysler also specifically stated that they were not responsible for repairs or replacement of the airbags because no recall had been issued for the specific airbags that had gone off or for the module. Insurance would not cover cost of airbag replacement or airbag module replacement as it was deemed an "electronic malfunction".
The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen. The contact stated that after entering the vehicle, it was discovered that the middle clip covering the air bag assembly on the steering wheel was deformed. Currently my vehicle's air bags are on a recall and i have been told that they only have a fix for the drivers side, not the passenger side. When calling chrysler to ask what are we supposed to do about this. We were told to 1, not drive the vehicle or 2 not to let anyone sit in the passenger side. That metal shrapnel could seriously injure or kill someone if we were in an accident. Seriously!!!! we have contacted chrysler several times asking why they are not fixing this or recalling the vehicle before serious injuries occur. The best they could do was give us a code to purchase a new vehicle at cost but guess what. There is no dealership that will take my current vehicle with a recall that can not be fixed and resale it. So pretty much i am stuck in a loan with a vehicle that could injure or kill myself, kids, husband, etc. This should be illegal for chrysler to do!!

When driving, my check engine light randomly comes on. When i get gas it goes off for awhile and then will pop back on. Also more recently when driving my blinker light and sound did not appear when turning my blinker on, as well as my radio has ceased up it won't allow me to change the station or do anything with it. It is a touch screen radio.
I pushes the button for my lift gate and proceeded to put my groceries in car when it automatically started shutting again. It hit my head extremely hard, i have a concussion.
My lift gate on my 2008 chrysler aspen struck me in my head as i was standing under my gate to put something in my trunk of my vehicle which gave me a serious concussion. I feel as though this is very dangerous because of the speed of which the gate hit me in the head. Chrysler did not pay for this defect in which they told me it would be repaired after they sent a adjuster from detroit mi. To inspect my vehicle that was found defective. Thankyou
June 11, 2019. The vehicle shuts off while driving without warning both on the highway and local road. This has created an unsafe condition for the driver and others. Chrysler service indicated a fuse was blown and changed the fuse. The car started and was driven for 1 day before shutting off again. The dealer advised the owner of which fuse to change. The owner changed the fuse and the car started and operated. The next day the car shut off while driving on the highway. Car was towed and owner changed the fuse again. The car will not start. Chrysler service advised changing the junction box (chrysler service installed junction box) and the owner was responsible for the power control module. 8/30/19 the pcm was installed and initially, the car did not start. It was determined there was a blown fuse in the junction box. Changed the fuse and the car started and was driven for a day. The next day the car shut off while driving on the highway. Changed the fuse and the car started and was driven for about 1 mile and shut off again while driving. The car continues to shut off while driving creating a safety hazard to the public.

Hello, i am the owner of a 2008 aspen.i recentlytook the vehicle to a safety car seat checkpoint and was recommended tocontact you by the officer concerning the seat belts. They don't lock whenpulled all the way out like other vehicles (i.e. Notable resistance whentrying to secure a car seat in place). I have also noticed this whenswitching car seats in a durango that my brother owns. I know the beltslock upon braking the vehicle. Also, ihave had an issue where the vehicle has shut off, and i have lost powersteering and all electrical control after topping off at a gas station. We promptly took it to thelocal dealer who did a computer update but it continues to happen anytimewe top off with gas. As long as we don't overfill above the first clickofthe gas handle, the vehicle doesn't cut off spontaneously while driving.my husband has visited forums online where this has been as issue for otherowners. Fortunately, i was in a neighborhood two miles down the road whenit cut off with me and my children so was able to coast to a stop.however, i feel it is a big safety issue as it doesn't happen immediatelyand if i had been on a busy road could have potentially resulted in anaccident as i had no control of the vehicle.

2008 chrysler aspen.consumer writes in regards to vehicle fuel system problems.the consumer stated on february 10, 2011 the vehicle caught on fire and exploded without warning. At the time of the fire, her daughter was waiting in the truck and noticed smoke coming from the front of the vehicle, but assumed it was coming from the exhaust. Then she started to smell something, so she exited the vehicle and saw flames coming from under the vehicle. The consumer stated there was no indication that something was wrong. According to the police and fire report, the fire was attributed to flammable liquid, gas from the engine or burned. On may 9th 2019 the vehicles computer was giving strange alerts about tire pressure changing among all 4 tires. Also change oil alert on & off. Low gas alert on & off. When i arrived at work around 9 am & i parked the vehicle, brought my personal things into the office. I decided to use our compressed air to check all 4 wheels tire pressure. I put the car in reverse to back out of the parking space with my right foot on the brake pedal. As i was backing up the rpm's increased suddenly sending me speeding in reverse towards my work building. I looked at my foot to make sure it was on the brake & it was. I never touched the accelerator. The vehicle's speed increased in 3 seconds to over 40 mph. I backed through the corner of my building, across railroad tracks & into the neighboring building. The corner support beam of my building went through my sunroof missing my head by inches. I turned the engine off. Miraculously no one was seriously injured. The vehicle was totaled & it caused extreme damage to both buildings. I contacted an attorney but since there was no serious injury they didn't want to get involved. They said it wasn't worth it to them. I tried to reach chrysler but never got a response. I was recently made aware of this website to file this complaint. I have a video from my work security camera it is not one of the type of files this website accepts
Vehicle stalls repeatedly after filling up the fuel tank.the vehicle gives no check engine light or provides any obd codes to pinpoint the problem.the vehicle stalls both while in motion and when stationary, when in motion all power assist is lost including the power steering and braking assist.my wife refuses to drive the vehicle now after nearly getting into a traffic collision when the vehicle stalled while driving through an intersection and she lost all power assist with our two children in the vehicle.the vehicle will sometimes immediately restart and run for a short period of time then stall again or will just crank and fail to start.this problem only seems to occur after fueling up and topping off the fuel tank.once the fuel tank burns off some of the fuel it seems to run just fine.
After filling the fuel tank, the motor shuts off while driving down the road. It used to only happen when you go past the first "click" of the gas pump. Today it did it by just filling the tank to first shut off. This leaves you with no steering, no brakes and no power while going down the road. This is dangerous on several levels.this happened while the vehicle was moving down a four lane road in moderate traffic with five passengers-two infants, two children and one adult.

While driving my 2008 aspen i've been having issues with the instrument panel lights flickering. I've only had this vehicle for 1 year. The problems started about 3 or 4 months after i purchased it. It started out only happening once or twice a month. Now it has become a daily problem. I had the alternator, starter and other things checked and everything was fine. I was driving last week and had to make a hard stop and the vehicle shut completely off. I feel like both of these present a safety hazard for me and other motorist on the road.

Three times now car has stalled while stopped following full refueling of tank... We did research on line... Is this similar to nhtsa action number : pe13016? dealer "knew" what the problem was, fixed it at our cost but said there was no recall on the aspen like the 300.
I was refilling the gas tank at a gas station. Immediately after the gas hose "clicked off" (when the tank was full), a very large amount of gas gushed out of the fuel filler neck past the hose nozzle, back-flowing from the fuel tank. I was standing in front of the fuel filler opening, holding the hose nozzle handle, and was splashed with gas. In my estimation the amount of gasoline spilled directly on me was at least one-half of a gallon. The front of my pants were entirely soaked, my gloves and the lower third of my coat were also splashed. I changed my clothes as soon as practical, fortunately, i was not injured (though having the skin of my legs and right hand temporarily soaked with gasoline, it's hard to be certain).i called my local chrysler dealer and learned that there was a tsb issued for this defect (number 14-001-12). In my opinion the decision to allow this issue to be addressed with a tsb rather than a safety recall was a profound error in judgment.updated 02/27/14*lj
When i put fuel in my vehicle it stalls within 5 minutes.it does it once and then doesn't do it again until i fill up the next time.if i fill it before it gets below a half tank it doesn't seem to do it.the problem is i don't always remember to do that and i am worried that the next time it stalls i will be in the middle of an intersection.i have seen where other chryslers with v8 hemi engines are covered under warranty but chrysler told me that my vehicle is not.the same problem should be covered by the same extended warranty!
When i fill the gas tank up and the gas pump clicks, i remove the gas handle and gas will spill out from the tank. This happens every time i fill my gas tank up.
While refueling when the fuel flow stopsthe first time on the nozzle ( i did not "top off" the tank) appx 1/4 of a gallon of gasoline burps out of the re fueling port when the tank vents.

When vehicle is filled up with gas, engine will either accelerate, stall out, or lose most of it power. After letting the engine run for more than 20 minutes it will go back to normal. This is a significant safety issue particularly when the engine stalls out with the potential of an accident.
I've been having this truck for a little over 5 months and every time i fill it up it never stops pumping when full. It spits gas out when it is full. I try to watch how many gallons i'm putting in it so i can stop it myself before it gets full but sometimes i don't catch it. It never clicks or stops on its own. I know my truck is 11 yrs old but this shouldn't be happening.
When refueling, the gas will overflow after just a few seconds (2-3 gallons of fuel added to empty tank).the fuel handle will shut off and only allow a few ml of fuel to be added to the tank.i must refil tank by holding gas handle and allowing only a trickle of fuel into the tank.even with this slow refil, the fuel often overflows and spills onto the ground (and onto me).this problem began around 120000 miles.this is a continuous, persistent problem. Very dangerousinternet search indicates that this is a common problem (https://www.chryslerforum.com/forum/chrysler-aspen-41/gas-overflow-fillup-10491/page3/)
The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen. While refueling the vehicle, fuel spewed out of the filler neck and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 63,000.
Gas spews out of the tank when filling up.it spews up to 1/2 gallon of gas everywhere.it seems to have a defect with air flow.
The problem started off with everytime i pump gas and fill the tank, as soon as you remove the pump the gas spews out all over the place.this happened several times at several different gas stations.suddenly on april 30, 2015 the truck died and would not start.it will cut on and attempt to start but would not stay on.i had the vehicle towed to the dealership and was told that the fuel pump is bad.funny thing you can't seem to find the fuel pump almost anywhere!!! the chrysler manufacturer and mopar parts do not have this particular one needed in stock.this seems to be a problem with many of the chrysler aspen and the manufacturer should do a recall on this issue!!!
If the fuel tank is filled completely fuel will gush out after the gas station fuel pump stops filling.this occurs at all gas sations.
2008 chrysler aspen stalls for approximately first 5 miles after refueling.mil illuminates (codes are for p0455 and p0456) then clears by itself after a few days.after researching, i have discovered that the problem is the orvr valve malfunction, this is documented numerous times on many websites throughout the internet.this leads to the evap canister malfunctioning (http://opensiuc.lib.siu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1006&context=auto_pres). This is not only a failure of the emission control system, but also a safety concern since the vehicle stalls, which it always does when slowing or stopping after fill-up.because the vehicle will lose power steering and power brake ability, i can no longer let my wife or children operate this vehicle as it has become a safety concern.this vehicle and other related vehicles (dodge durango, ram 1500, and others) should be recalled at once to have this issue addressed before injuries occur, if in fact they already haven't.this has been happening the my vehicle since december 2016 but has last happened in march 2018 (now).
My 2008 chrysler aspen has an issue with thefuel tank.whenfilling the tank, the pump will shut off and gas will come squirting out of tank.this has happened at many different pumps and different gas stations.it seems dangerous to have gas spilling out.it seems to be a common issue for chrysler and should be addressed. I contacted chrysler and was told there is no recall for this issue.any service on gas tank would be customers cost.not covered in warranty.
While drive the vehicle it jerked forward and then stalled loosing poweralmost causing me to hit the vehicle in front of me and the vehicle in back of me had to swerve in order to avoid hitting my vehicle.the vehicle started up and i proceed to work.after, vehicle would not start, had to be towed 32 miles. Then vehicle to to a chysler dealershipafter i was notified the feul pump was faulty and had to be replace.

My 2008 aspen was built during the same time as the 2009 model year that had the faulty pinion nuts/shaft. Right at 170,k our pinion bearing is bad. I believe they same parts were used and dodge refuses to work with me. Thankfully it has not broke yet but the truck is needing to be in the shop.
Rear pinion nut backed off causing lost of fluid from the differential to leaked out. Talked to chrysler and they said this model was not on the recall list even though the description fits to the letter on what has happen on those covered on the recall. Had to get repairs done at pep boys since no dealerships are open on sunday or saturday afternoon. Replaced pinion seal and add fluid to differential, torque nut. Is this going to happen again after 50,000 miles or other people.
First i must start out by saying this vehicle has been a nightmare since buying from a dealership who has refused to correct any of the problems in any fashion mainly because they're not a chrysler dealership. The day after we bought the vehicle the vehicle stalled on us due to a dead battery. Not a big deal, but it was only the beginning to a wide range of problems. While taking the truck for a required state inspection, the truck somehow managed to roll forward from a parked position when reverse had been selected. It was parked on an incline no more than a 10 degree angle and ended up rolling/crashing into the curb. I immediately contacted the dealership to voice my concern/anger and they agreed to look into the problem but to no avail. Not long afterwards we had some heavy rain i believe the following week and we realized the roof was leaking along the passenger side pillar right into the vents. This i believed led to some electrical issues with the radio as my wife said if often "flickered" and "cut in and out". This was also brought to the dealerships attention and again nothing was done; however they did clean the drains which they said caused the leaking. I had also voiced my concerns to chrysler and was basically told until they have enough documented issues, nothingcan be done. Now, my wife and i hadn't filled this truck up to this point as yet, but the first time we did the gas overflowed and gushed out of the vehicle spilling everywhere. I initially thought the pump nozzle was faulty but after the second time at a different gas station i was convinced the problematic vehicle was to blame. I went online and did my own research and here's what i found: http://www.safetyresearch.net/blog/articles/fuel-spit-back-continues-plague-chrysler-vehicles-owners-hook. My wife and kids travel in this vehicle and all i want is peace of mind to know they're safe in it.updated 9/15/15 *ln updated 12/11/2017
The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled and the traction control warning light illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.
The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen. Two years ago, an independent mechanic diagnosed that the pinion nut was loose and needed to be tightened. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the differiental needed a pinion seal. The vehicle was repaired again, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 13v038000 (power train) as a possible solution, but the vin was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.
I recently bought my chrystler aspen and as i was driving down the road i noticed a clunk on the rear end. I checked to make sure the spare tire or muffler wasn't loose and even took it to a local shop where we found a bolt located right at the rear differential that appears to be loose causing that clunking noise. I went online to see if any other chrystler owners had the same issue and found out that there has been certain dodge and chrystler vehicles affected and even recalled for this same issue. I also read online that driving with that bolt being loose could damage the differential and cause it to lock up make the whole truck to stop very suddenly causing the driver to loose control of the vehicle. I called 2 different local dealerships and explained the issue and asked them if my vehicle had a recall like many other similar models had,but they told me there was no recalls on my truck. I'm concerned for my safety and my family's due to my truck's condition and i would like to let chrystler know this poor workmanship could cause a serious if not fatal accident for me and my family if not resolved.
The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen. The contact stated that the transmission shifted independently into 4 wheel drive and seized. The failure caused the front wheels to lock up and not move. The contact was able to guide the vehicle to the side of the road. The contact smelled a burning rubber odor right before the failure. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the four wheel drive was malfunctioning. The mechanic initially remedied the failure by shifting the transmission back from four wheel drive into the normal gears. The failure recurred again and all four wheels seized. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 191,000.
The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen. The contact stated while his son was driving 45 mph, with his wife seated in the passengerā€™s side seat, the rear driver side wheel inadvertently locked up and the vehicle stalled. Several warning lights including the abs warning light were illuminated. The contact stated when the vehicle was shifted into reverse, the rear driverā€™s side wheel unlocked, and they were able to veer to the side of the road. The contact stated that he drove the vehicle to his residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.
The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen. While driving approximately 25 mph, the engine warning indicator illuminated and there was a complete loss of power steering. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and the engine was turned off. After restarting, the vehicle resumed normal steering function. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
The svc 4wd light comes on when idling and other random times.the steering acts like its in 4 wheel drive when it isnt.there is a shifting of some kind when the engine isn't on and the doors are unlocked remotely.
The clock spring/steering sensor has gone out on my aspen.what i was told by dealership is it has gone bad on so many aspen and other chrysler cars using this part that it is on back order and may take up to 6 months to get one... This part has caused my anti-lock brake, skid control and my all wheel drive to no longer work

We lost control of the vehicle upon hitting a medium sized bump while traveling approximately 38mph in a straight line. This has happened multiple times when hitting small to medium sized bumps since we purchased the vehicle late in 2014. There are no broken or worn out parts in the steering or suspension and the tires only have 3,000 miles on them. In fact, the problem became worse when we replaced the previous tires. This leads me to believe there is an issue the in engineering of the steering system on this vehicle. It is literally impossible to hit a bump without the steering pulling to the side, which re-directs the vehicle regardless of how hard the driver grips the steering wheel. This is a very dangerous vehicle and we need a solution as soon as possible before this causes a major accident.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen. The contact stated that after entering the vehicle, it was discovered that the middle clip covering the air bag assembly on the steering wheel was deformed. The cause of the failure was not determined. An unknown dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 189,000.
Aspen was parked wife in passenger seat pulled on windshield pillar assist handle handle broke loose wife fell to ground and was injured. *dsy
Thankyou
The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen. While driving at an unknown speed, the front driver's side ball joint detached and the contact crashed into a tree. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.

When i fill the gas tank up and the gas pump clicks, i remove the gas handle and gas will spill out from the tank. This happens every time i fill my gas tank up.
