Takata recall-the front passenger airbag inflator housing may rupture while deploying during a crash. The potential for such ruptures may occur in some of the subject airbag inflators after several years of exposure to persistent conditions of high absolute humidity and/or heat aging. In the event of a front passenger airbag inflator rupture, metal fragment(s) could pass through the airbag cushion material, which may result in additional injury or death to vehicle occupants. Why is there not a fix for this and if there isn't one why is the vehicle not being recalled and those of us who have it being compensated appropriately to get a new vehicle! maybe contacting a lawyer would help. If someone i love is injured or killed because of this there will be a lawsuit!

Hit a deer traveling at over 50 mph head on and the airbags did not deploy.damage to the car was extensive including the front bumper, grill and headlights.the deer was estimated to weigh over 200lbs.my wife and 2 small children were in the car, everyone is fine but it dawned on us afterward that the airbags did not deploy.we are concerned about the future and the functionality of the safety features of our vehicle.i have written chrysler and have not gotten a response.

The airbag sensor light is constantly chiming on and off.the automatic trunk door opens and then shuts abruptlywith force which can cause seriously injury.i contacted chrysler and was told that they do not have any recalls for my vehicle and that i would need to take it to the dealership and have it assessed.very frustrating to have to pay the dealership for issues that really should the manufacturers responsibility!!! shame on chrysler for not taking responsibility for the defects!!!

The engine light remains on constantly despite being repaired at least three times.we have been advised that it has been repaired, however, the light remains on. Two separate repair shops have worked on the issue and have been unable to get the light to turn off. We have spent substantial funds trying to repair this issue and no one is able to get light to turn off.

2008 chrysler aspen direction signal will switch from left to right during a turn.it is intermittent at this time.

I began accelerating onto a ramp to enter onto a major highway and my aspen completely loss all power suddenly. The engine just shut down including powerall electronics. I had to let the car glide to the shoulder, put it in park and restart the car, which it stared as it always has. This has never happened before nor did it happen again.i had the car checked out and they couldn't find anything wrong. Being that this happened while entering a busy highway, a serious accident could have been caused.

Steering problems had rack and pinion replaced, inner tire rods replaced, lost control of vehicle, outer right tire rods broken, very fortunate my family and i not hurt (70mph on i95), replace outer tire rod, play in steering replace steering yoke.also water gets into electrical system shorting out computer.do not know how water gets in, can not see from inside of vehicle, but can sometimes hear water sloshing around.

On this date and at least a few others our aspen unintentionally accelerated. It usually accelerates from a dead stop after the suv is shifted into drive with foot on the brake pedal. It will also occasionally accelerate when slowing down before coming to a stop. Chrysler dealershipshave no solutions since service managers have had no previous experiences with this problem. So they say.

The vehicle stalls while in motion regardless of road street or highway after refueling, we took the vehicle to the dealership and was told that the fuel tank & the on-board refueling vapor recovery system is faulty and that raw liquid fuel was going into the engine causing failing.we have little choice but to fix the problem, as this could potentially cause a fire in the engine and\or cause a potential accident as the engine stops while in motion.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen 4x4. While driving 25 mph, all of the emergency warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle lost power and stalled. The vehicle was towed and diagnosed that there was catastrophic engine failure due to a fractured timing chain. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was too old and had too many miles; therefore, they could not assist. The contact was advised to call nhtsa. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

Catastrophic engine failure on interstate entrance ramp.as entering ramp and starting to speed up, heard loud noise and lost all power/momentum.had to tow and replace motor due to rod thrown.

2008 chrysler aspen direction signal will switch from left to right during a turn.it is intermittent at this time.

Massive fuel spit back on my chrysler aspen.at first it was just a little bit (almost like a sneeze) but now it is vomiting gas at every fill-up.we have used different gas stations...giant & 2 different wawa stations, all with the same result.

Every time i try to fill the tank on my 2008 chrysler aspen gas splashes out of the filler neck after the nozzle has stopped.this happens at stations with vapor recovery and without.

My 2008 chrysler aspen has a fuel tank problem.when i fill the tank at a gas station-the station pump will shut off and gas will come spewing out 2-3 feet out of the tank.according to the dealership when i had it looked at it has to do with some tank venting issue.after having a canister replaced and not fixing the problem i was told the whole tank needs to be replaced.

My 2008 chrysler aspen, 5.7l hemi, gas blowback every time i fill with gas. Occurs at different service stations and no matter how slowly i pump at self-service. This is dangerous as gas has poured out on my clothing and shoes as well as running down side of the vehicle.

When you fill up the gas tank full, the pump shuts off, and then when you pull out the pump gas explodes out all over.it actually shoots out gas, from the gas tank, spewing out everywhere.this is a serious safety hazard.this safety item needs to be addressed by the manufacturer in a recall.

Every time i fill the fuel tank the vehicle stalls out while driving.i've had the vehicle stall out on me while making a left hand turn at an intersection and lost control of steering.

I just purchased vehicle about a few weeks ago from dealer and every time i fill with gas it over flows and sprays gas everywhere. This is very dangerous and can cause fire or explosion. I don't know if anybody has been hurt but needs to be looked in to before somebody gets hurt or worse.

2008 chrysler aspen gas overflow problem at fillup.

Fuel splashes out offill port when automatic nozzle shuts off during filling of fuel tank.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen. The contact stated that while refueling, fuel would spill out from the fuel filler neck. An authorized dealer was notified, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 2 and the current mileage was 28,000.

For the past several months, our 2008 chrysler aspen with 37,000 miles has been spilling fuel at the end of each refueling.the pump shuts off as it should, and then fuel spills out.i would estimate that approximately 5-7 ounces of fuel spill out each time this occurs.i did some research, and learned that there was a recall on the fuel tank of the 2005 dodge durango (same vehicle - ours is rebadged as a chrysler).the recall language stated "fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve may not fully close at the end of refueling.this could allow some fueled to escape from the vehicle through the filler neck at the end of refueling."this is exactly what seems to be occurring on our 2008 model.the pump shuts off, but fuel then follows and spills out.

When fueling this vehicle it physically sprays approximately 8 ounces of fuel out of the fuel receptacle when the fueling nozzle clicks off. I have found no way to stop it,or control the amount or direction. Anythingor anyone near it will get sprayed. This is a serious safety issue that chrysler must address!we just purchased this vehicle 1/31/2014so that is the reason for the late filing of this report.

When refueling, upon auto shut off of fuel nozzle approximately a quart of gasoline will blow out from the fuel fill of the vehicle. This is not due to a problem with the pump nozzle, as it occurs at different fuel suppliers . This problem does not occur if filling is stopped short of a full tank. Fuel usually splashes onto the vehicle and the ground and has gotten on my sleeve if my hand is on the nozzle. Splashing of fuel is dangerous, it has been addressed by the manufacturer on some of their other vehicles and it should apply to this vehicle also.updated ivoq 02/24/11

When filling up the gas tank of my 2008 chrysler aspen, at the end of the fill up, gas shoots out of the gas tank.about 7-10 oz shoots out after every fill up.i am not topping off the gas tank, i am just allowing it to stop automatically.gas shoots out over the vehicle and onto the ground.this is a very dangerous situation that seems to be happening on many chrysler aspens according to a internet search.i know chrysler had a similar recall on their durango model.

2008 chrysler aspen spits gas into the air 3 feet after the gas pump automatically shuts off. Causing personal injury, and potential fire hazard. The problem began about the time the warranty went off. Chrysler says the car requires a new gas tank, and will not honor the repair, cost to repair is $330 parts plus labor to install.

When fueling my aspen, it regularly spits back fuel prior to the fuel shut off disengaging the dispensing of fuel.i've used several gas stations and have the same problem at each one.it started with just a little fuel spitting back and now there is probably two to three cups that fly out of the tank and if i'm not paying attention it may spray all over me.

Significant over flow of fuel when filling at gas station.automatic trigger release only deploys after fuel discharges from fuel tank.manual filling works no better. Considerable wastage as well as fire hazard.

The gas tank keeps overflowing when filling up.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen. Whenever the contact fills the gas tank on his vehicle he noticed that gasoline will suddenly spray out of the filler tube onto the contact and the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that the gas tank needed to be replaced. There were no prior warnings and the current and failure mileages were 73623.

Every time we fill up our gas tank when the gas pump shuts off there is gush of gas that is spit back out of the tank.when it first occurred i was drenched with gas. This is not safe and when the dealer checked out the issue they said the problem was with the filler assembly and would cost $800 to fix. This is unacceptable and as i write this today there are 15 other complaints with the same car and same problem.i also have gas station attendants in nj tell me they have this happen all the time with chrysler cars mainly aspen, wranglers and liberty.even the dealer says this is a common problem. Chrysler needs to issue a recall for this problem.

Having a problem with the vehicle stalling after refueling with gas.vehicle will stutter and stall within a couple of minutes. This is dangerous as the stall occurs while driving and you lose steering control of the vehicle. Neither a dealer or private mechanic can get a clear indication as to what is causing the issue.fuel pump relay(march 2017) and egr valve(july 2017) have both been replaced and problem is still occurs.vehicle runs fine after sitting for a while but stalls after refueling.our vehicle has been in the shop since july 5.we got it back on july 19 and when we put gas in it , it died again and had to be towed back the same night to the shop who had just replaced the egr valve.

When fueling my 2008 chrysler aspen, fuel splashes back out of the fuel tank inlet pipe onto the person putting fuel into the tank.this happens even though you may not be topping off the tank.fuel splashes onto person, clothes, hands, shoes, vehicle quarter panel and puddles on concrete pad .i have received skin irritation from the contact of the fuel on my hands and have to go in the store to wash my hands or wash them in the dirty water in the windshield scraper holder.i have a couple of friends that own aspens and they have the same problem.in doing research on this issue, i see where chrysler had a recall on certain durangos and aspens, but according to my dealer, my vehicle and many more were excluded.thisisadangerousissueandneedstobeaddressedimmediatelybychrysler. It isamanufacturersdefectandtheyareresponsible.how many people have to be injured or killed before nhtsa makes chrysler do a recall on all affected vehicles. Question below asks, "when did this happen"?it happens every time i put fuel in my aspen.it can have 1/4 tank and i can put in 5 gallons of fuel real slow and when i withdraw the nozzle, fuel will splash out.last time it happened was today...

When filling the fuel tank, gas sprays everywhere after the gas pump nozzle clicks off.this happens at different gas stations. This is a safety hazard as well as an environmental issue.this happens every time i fill my tank.

Vehicle shut off for no apparent reason while entering onto an expressway.loss of power steering made vehicle difficult to control to safely get onto the shoulder.sudden loss of speed made the vehicle a further hazard.once on the shoulder, the vehicle could be physically keyed off, then restarted without issue.cause of failure is unknown.

Significant fuel spit-back occurs upon every refueling.

When filling gas tank fuel spills out all over the ground ( about a quart+) when full.

When refueling when the pump clicks off fuel at least a gallon shoots out of refuel opening.

Vehicle sputters and dies after refueling. After refueling the fuel tank the vehicle does not want to stay running. It will run long enough to pull out, or attempt to pull out into traffic and then will die. This is very unsafe. My mechanic has determined it to be a check valve in between the fuel tank and vapor canister that fails and allows raw fuel to enter the emission system. This in turn causes the vehicle to die. One would think that this is a simple fix, but the check valve is only available with the $807 fuel tank. This issue is serious and could cause a wreck which could leave to injuries and or death.

Upon picking up the vehicle from the repair shop, i went to get gas. While fueling the tank spits back fuel and also disengages the dispensing of fuel. I've tried different gas stations and have the same issue each time. Fuel filler neck was replaced along with the fuel tank. This is a serious safety issue.

We purchased the vehicle second hand. One previous owner prior.just recently it started spitting gas back during fill up (car is parked, not running).anytime we fill up with gas, the pump shuts off and immediately gas spits back out of the tank.varying amounts of gas that spits back at the pump.every time, with force, having to alert the gas station attendants to fuel spilled on the ground due to the spit back.i don't know for sure what would cause the spit back.

When fueling my 2008 aspen is complete it does not shut-off and gas spews out all over the car, myself, and everything else.this started about a year ago and then quit, it has since started up again with a vengeance of an explosion of gasoline. I first thought it was the pump, but i have gone to many different stations and there same thing occurs.

Whenever i fill up with gas and the pump kicks off roughly about a 1/2 gallon of gas spits back out all over the side of the truck and on me.

I saw where several other people has complaints about when you fill up with gas after the nozzle clicks it sprays gas out, i have had my aspen a little over a year and it does the same thing, i think that is a defect that chrysler needs to fix, it is very dangerous for gas to spray out everywhere and it is not just one aspen that has this problem, it is several.

The fuel sprays back out of the tank during a refueling. It doesn't matter the time of year although during the warmer temperatures it is more intense. This is a safety issue which needs to be corrected by the manufacturer.

When gas tank is filled, gas spits out towards the end of the fill.

While driving, the vehicle intermittently slipped into 4-wheel drive low.vehicle immediately became hard to steer/move in this condition, dangerous to drive as the vehicle's handling could change at any moment... At any speed.

This vehicle has awd and electronic shifting of the transfer case.the motor for the transfer case engages and shifts the transmission into 4wd lock during low speed turns and while parked.

I began accelerating onto a ramp to enter onto a major highway and my aspen completely loss all power suddenly. The engine just shut down including powerall electronics. I had to let the car glide to the shoulder, put it in park and restart the car, which it stared as it always has. At the very least, this problem can destory a differential and in the worst case, cause a vehicle to go out of control on a highway/motorway. This issue is prevalent in dodge durango and chrysler aspen vehicles.

The 4wd started to engage without being switched and with no indication on the instrumentation panel.vehicle goes into 4x4 on its own. When we make a sharp turn going forward or backing...the rear tires lock up.the svc 4 wheel drive light comes on and off sporadically. I can also hear it switch back and forth under the car even when the vehicle is off.periodically when you switch the dial over to 4lo or 4x4 lock the svc 4wd light just flickers off and on.

Noise and jerk (sometimes pretty violent) during acceleration after slowing down. Took to dealer and they checked u-joints (ok) and said the differential seal was leaking and nut had backed off.....tightened nut and replaced seal.still having problems with noise/jerking.they say it is still a differential problem and we are trying to get the extended warrantor (fidelity) to agree to pay before we fix since it will be over $1200 to fix.i feel this is the same issue that we received a recall for the differential in our 2005 dodge ram.chrysler should look at this.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen 4x4. The contact stated that when shifting from park into drive, the vehicle rapidly accelerated and crashed into the wall of the garage.the contact then shifted into reverse and the vehicle rapidly accelerated backward, crashing into the home a second time with one half of the vehicle penetrating the house. The vehicle struck a child and caused injuries to both of the child's legs. A police report was not filed. The contact was not injured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 72,000.

At a carseat checkup training event, a technician noticed the locking clip that makes the seatbelts lock in place were broken on the second row outboard locations. All the locking clips on the sliding seat belts are plastic.

The contact owns a 2008 chrysler aspen. The contact statedwhile driving 30 mph over railroad tracks, she lost control of the steering wheel. The vehicle was stopped and once the contact continued to drive, the steering wheel began to function normally. The failure recurred approximately six months later while driving over railroad tracks at approximately 30 mph. Another individual examined the vehicle and stated that the tie rod on the front passenger side was fractured. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer and again the contact was informed that the tie rod was fractured. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to replace the ball joints and tie rods. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 58,000. The vin was unavailable.

Suddenly acceleration. This has happen 4 times while braking.major damage was sustained to the vehicle when it was involved in a collision.do not remember if the cruise control was during the times the sudden acceleration was experienced.was going around 5 '' 10 mph stepped on brake to stop and engine rev''ed up and before i was ale to turn key off or put the transmission in neutral i hit a camper.the first time this happened i was on an isolated road and was able to stop the car without incident.i call the chrysler dealer and was told there was nothing that they could check that would verify my complaint. Another time was on highway and applied the brakes and tach went to approx.4000 rpm.again i was able to put off the road safely.
