1) agrowing crack in dashboard above passenger side airbag.2) heat/air cluster will not illuminate.
Dashboard developeda 10 -12" crack just to the left of the passenger side airbag.do not know if the airbag system will work or not. In any event this seems to be a manufacturing problem,by the number of complaints. Dealer(s) are of no help as the vehicle is out of warranty. This vehicle has also had the common problem of the headlamps/instrumentation lights flickering. Headlamps would flash on/off along with instrument lighting.headlight switch panel replaced, but the problem returned.
12" crack of dashboard cover opened up on left side of passenger air bag and is getting longer. Very disappointing for a high priced car which i have owned since new.
About 5 days ago, the airbag light came on that has caused my cruise control, horn, and radio volume not work. I live in a very busy and congested city. I was almost run off the road twicebecause i don't have a horn that works to warn people to state in there lanes.
The contact owns a 2004 chrysler 300m. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v313000 (air bags) however, the part needed to perform the repair was unavailable. Noise in steering column.stiff when driving.cracks in dash around passenger air bag.engine light on and remains on for extended periods.air bag warning light on.advised that srs roll coil needs replacing.part ordered through chrysler parts dealer and is on back order.
While driving slowly in a parking lot, looking for a space, the passenger side airbag deployed with a loud explosion that also shattered the windshield.there was no contact with anything.i had the car towed to the naples dealership and after testing concluded that there was a faulty sensor and suggested i call customer service.chrysler customer serviceestablished a case number [xxx], sent it to special investigations unit and sent a person to inspect the car.about 2 weeks later i was informed that since the car was out of warranty chrysler had no liability.we are having the seat belt and sensor replaced [about $2,000], the windshield replaced about $800 with some insurance recovery] and renting a car during the 7-10 days from now while parts are ordered and repairs made.certainly i believe chrysler should cover these costs.but in addition i think chrysler owners should be made aware of the risk of these defective sensors.in our case there was no passenger and the car was moving slowly.however, if the airbag deployed in this manner while on a highway, there could be significant risk to passenger and driver.
5.5 inch crack developed on inside left of airbag housing on passenger side of dashboard.suggest that airbag safety may be compromised.
While braking at speeds above 50 mph the vehicle vibrated severely. The consumer stated when she attempted to brake for a traffic light, the brake pedal went straight to the floor and consequently the consumer rear ended a 18-wheeler which was at a stop. The consumer also stated the air bags did not deploy.
Dt: lights on dashboard flicker and the passenger seat belt light and air bag light stays on all the time. Has no warning that the lights are going to stay on. When this happens it runs the battery down, and the car will not start. Has happened on every vacationhe has taken. Had it fixed 3 times, and it has been at the dealer for a month now. Manufacturer is offering no help. Dealer is trying to help. The car is a chrysler 300c.

Was traveling in third gear when the transmission downshifted to second gear independently locks in 2nd gear (limp mode) when slowing or stopping vehicle.once you turn the car off and back on again, you can drive with normal gears. However, once you hit 50-60 mph, the transmission automatically goes into limp mode and stays locked in second gear. Check engine light came on and it now reads the codes p1776.

While running, stationary, and motion the vehical ran hot, motor oil leaking while car in motion and parked. Car did not want to start, and shuts off while in drive. Car was taken to certified mechanic, diognostic test performed report indicated electrical and sensor problems among other mechanical issues.
Just after the warranty expired for my vehicle both front speakers quit working. Now both back speakers are experiencing the same problems. A friend who has been a mechanic for over 30 years recommended me to this site. I see no record of similar problems but he said in his years of service he has never had to put 4 speakers in a car--especially one of the age and caliber of this car.

The contact owns a 2004 chrysler 300m. The vehicle would intermittently stall without any prior warnings. As a consequence his risk for a vehicle crash was increased.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the cam shaft along with the crank-shaft position sensors were replaced. Two days after the repair the failure resurfaced. The interior lights also flickered on and then off and the steering column began to vibrate violently.none of the repairs have remedied the failures. The manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 22000. The current mileage was 84,000.
While accelerating onto the freeway, at approx. 55mph, in very heavy traffic with many big-rigs in the mix, the "check engine" light came on and the car suddenly lost power and began to shudder/miss out when accelerating.i had to quickly navigate over 3 lanes of fast moving traffic to avoid being rear-ended.i was able to drive slowly to a repair shop, but the engine would not rev above 2200 rpm.the service shop has tried 4 times to repair the car, each time replacing various sensors that were indicated by the engine computer.after each repair, the car would run fine for 2-3 days before having the same failure.it is still not repaired.i feel this is a serious safety problem.
My cars since new has had very rough idle at times. I bought the car brand new in dec 03 and they have already had to pull the heads and replace head gaskets for an over heating issue that popped up. There are also several rattles in the car.
2004 chrysler 300m.consumer writes in regards to numerous suspension problems and repairs. The check engine light illuminated, the struts, tie rods, radiator, fuel pump, sway bar bushings, cam shaft sensor were all replaced.the struts and tie rods were replaced several times.
Just driving down the road and my car stalled then lurched forward while i was in an intersection almost causing an accident.the repair shop stated a sensor had to be reprogrammed due to problems with the flywheel.i was told this problem will happen again as the flywheel in my vehicle is known to cause this problem.something about flexing and cracking.it is my belief that this is a manufactures defect.

Randomly my car will cut off while i am driving. Sometimes i can wait for a few minutes and it will start up again (not very often). I can wiggle the wire to the control valve (i think that is what it is called, it is in the very front of the engine towards the right side), the car will then start. I have been in some very bad situations and am afraid of what may happen if this causes me to have an accident. I have went to a car repair shop and they said it may be caused by the cam positioning. I travel a lot with my grandchildren and do not feel safe.

Rough idle and check engine light comes on at times.this car only has 33k miles on it !!! dealer says this is normal for the 300m special.
I just bought my car used in january 2008 and the check engine light has been on and the car is hard to start. However, the car did pass inspection because the problem that i'm having isn't considered failing during inspection. I took the car to be diagnosed and the engine cool packs all had to be replaced. After the parts were replaced, the check engine light is still on, the car still shimmies and it is still hard to start. This happens everytime i start the car!

Is there some regulation about the new led tail lights?many of them flicker at a low frequency, like a strobe light, that is very distracting.tests in the computer industry for crts have shown that 60hz flicker, while invisible for many, is very distracting for around 1/3 the population.72hz is better, but 80hz is necessary to cover 95%+ of the population.since leds have faster response and since there is little or no cost to do it right, led tail lights ought to flicker at 200hz or higher.the reason they are pulsed in the first place is to provide better brightness electronic control, but there is no reason to flash so slowly.
Both fog lights on my 2004 300m special stopped working,. Took in for service to chrysler dealer 5/2/06 and told the wiring harness was "burned". That i would have to replace the harness at my cost, $2000+ new or $300+ used for the part, plus labor. Declined repair to await outcome of complaint. Their was no fire but that doesn't mean that one could not have developed.
The contact owns a 2004 chrysler 300m. The contact was driving 55 mph at night. The headlights were in activation with a dim illumination which resulted to limited visibility. The high beam headlights were engaged to increase the visibility. The failure began when the vehicle was purchased and progressed over a period of time. The vehicle was taken an authorized dealer for inspection. The vehicle has not been repaired due to the service repair cost. The current and failure mileages were 83,000.

The contact owns a 2004 chrysler 300m. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and attempting to slow down, the vehicle would jerk and stay at the same speed or stall without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was stuck in third gear. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.
The contact owns a 2004 chrysler 300m. While driving approximately 35 mph, the rpm reading suddenly increased independently. The contact stopped the vehicle on the shoulder and turned the engine off. After restarting the vehicle, the failure ceased.the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
Vehicle goes into "limp mode" daily. Seems mostly to occur once coasting or slowing on a off ramp from highway speeds. Can put car in neutral then turn off & restart which seems to reset "limp mode" until speed decreases to roughly 20 - 30 mph. There seems to be multiple other drivers with this car that have the same issue, yet no response from chrysler.
Dt*: the contact stated while driving 25 mph and approaching a stop sign, the brake was applied however; the vehicle did not stop.the vehicle continued through the intersection and crashed into a truck causing damage to both vehicles.the contact sustained minor injuries and a police report was taken.the vehicle was towed to the dealer who found no problem.also, intermittently when the gear was shifted into reverse the vehicle continued to go forward.the vehicle was driven to the dealer, who could not duplicate the problem.further, while driving various speeds, if hands were removed from the steering wheel, the vehicle pulled to the right.the dealer could not identify the problem.
The car threw itself into limp mode while i was traveling down the highway at about 60 mph. Check engine light came on and it now reads the codes p1776 and po700.
2004 chrysler 300m. Consumer stated he experienced multiple transmission failures.*tgwthe consumer stated upon exiting the interstate, the vehicle went into limp mode (locked in 2nd gear) a few second later, the engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that a new valve body assembly was needed.the vehicle was eventually repaired. However, the consumer encountered the problem again when the vehicle suddenly went into limp mode. The consumer went to another dealer and it was determined that the valve body assembly was initially found to be at fault. However, it was further diagnosed to be the solenoid pack (part of the valve body assembly) that was faulty. The new solenoid pack that was installed just 3 days earlier was an obsolete version that had been superseded by an improved design.
While traveling at 50-60 mph i had noticed the rpm to be just over 4000. I let my foot off the gas and it remained at just over 4000 rpm and the check engine light had come on. The codes are p0700, p1776. Car just randomly throws itself into second gear or goes into limp mode and stays locked there. For now, once you turn the car off and back on again, you can drive with normal gears. However, once you hit 50-60 mph, the transmission automatically goes into limp mode and stays locked in second gear. All signs point to solenoid pack assembly.
2004 300m. Transmission control module failure at 100 miles.
Car stalled on major roadway. Once. The car was towed to my mechanic. They had the car four days. There was no code to show problem. Replaced cam sensor. Car is now running fine. I found out that this is a common problem.
The contact owns a 2004 chrysler 300m. The contact stated that while traveling 20 mph, the driver seat independently reclined backward into the rear seat. The contact removed the driver seat and discovered that the plastic actuator that controlled the seat had completely fractured. The bolts and structure of the seat were still in place however. The dealer advised that they were unable to replace just the part that had fractured but would need to replace the entire drivers seat assembly. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact expressed concerns of the safety hazard involved in the failure. The failure and current mileage was 123,000.
Dragging of the brake while driving. Tires get hot to the touch. Releasing gas pedal, the car does not roll, it stops abruptly...when ex celebrating, the rpms goes up, but car not going speed limit....brake pedal very hard to press
Chrysler 300m (300m) pulls to either side (wildly to violently depending on braking force and temperature of engine). Usually after pulling during braking, the 300m will pull in opposite direction when proceeding from this stop.this pulling action will cease after the engine is fully warmed (about 15 minutes).the intensity of 'pull' has several times pulled the steering wheel from my grip.problem was brought to dealer's attention....during five triips to dealer he replaced the rotors and pads and aligned the front end (twice), all to no avail. All rides with dealer were fruitless since the 15 minute warm-up had occured during my drive from home to dealer(one mechanic did say he observed pulling but later hedged on statement.since i drive the car everyday from a cold start, i always experienced pulling;to let the dealer observe a cold engine, i left the car with him for 3 (may have been 4) days to drive as his personal car.after the time period he claimed not to have experienced pulling (an unbelieveable statement since i always did).it is also interesting that this pulling problem exists on my daugther's mercedes 230?? and her friend's mercedes v12 and on the chrysler sebring (2006 ???) i am renting from enterprise at this time.
On march 10, 2006 my fiance was on her way home from work. She had just started moving when a stop light turned green. About 150 feet down the road from the stop light the traffic came to a stop because of a traffic jam. When my fiance applied the brakes the brake pedal went down to the floor and the car had no brakes what-so-ever. She rear-ended a ford escort that was in front of her. We have two witnesses to the fact that 15 minutes after the accident, the brake pedal was still on the floor. When the police arrived, the officer wouldn't even push the car off of the road when we told him that it had no brakes. We had to wait until a tow truck moved the car from the road surface. I am now facing an insurance claim form my car and the other car due to a failure in the brake system. The car is being towed to the body shop on march 13, 2006 where i am going to tell them about the brakes. Once the car is repaired i will them take it to the chrysler dealer and have them do everything they can to the brakes to see why the failure happened. My car is a 2004 chrysler 300m platinum series.
Dear sirs, answers to the above three questions are answered below:(1) squeak in front brakes, noted one day prior to taking vehicle in for repair.(2) front rotors were worn beyond repair in slightly over 20k miles.(3) i paid for the repairs, $328.41 and i am asking chrysler for reimbursement.i have he defective rotors if inspection is needed. I own a2004 chrysler 300m special, vin [xxx].yesterday (10-5-05) i noticed a squeak when the car was moving.i was almost sure there was something wrong with the brake system.i then looked at my odometer and it only read a little over 20,500 miles.my experience with chrysler disk brakes told me it was way too early for the pads to be worn. I immediately made an appointment with superstition springs chrysler jeep, 6130 e. Auto park dr., mesa, az 85206.the service advisor, gene langen, told me when i took the car in for service that front brakes going out at 20,000 miles was very common for the 300m.later today it was confirmed that the rotors had been worn beyond repair by the pads.the squeak i heard was the spring that holds the pads in place coming in contact with the rotor.there was still brake pad material on each pad.there was no metal-to-metal contact between the brake pads and rotor.i inspected the rear disk brakes and there is evidence that the same problem is happening with them, just at a slower rate.if this is common to have rotors damaged beyond repair at 20,000 miles then something is wrong with your product.either the rotors are too soft or the break pads are too hard or a combination of both.i feel the cost of the new rotors this early in the life of the vehicle, should be paid for by chrysler.since the rear brakes seem to be headed in the same direction as the front, i would like something done to them so i won't be looking at another $300.00 plus in a few months. Coming home from work i pulled into my girlfriends circle driveway. While making the left hand turn into the driveway i felt the car not reacting to the steering wheel. I stopped and looked at both front tires expecting to see a broken tie rod end but both tires pointed in the same direction. I asked her to step in the vehicle and turn the steering wheelwhile i could see what was happening. I could see the whole steering rack move back and fourth without it being connected to the frame. I am thankful that this did not happen at highway speeds when i was heading home. This is a very dangerous car to own.

12" crack of dashboard cover opened up on left side of passenger air bag and is getting longer. Very disappointing for a high priced car which i have owned since new.
After doing my research there is a big problem with 1998-04 chrysler 300m cars where on the left side of the passenger air bag located on the dash a crack forms and starts about 2-3 inches then grows up to 11-13 inches. This is a known issue through many many 300m owners and this sounds like a problem that needs to be addressed. I have a 04 300m that i purchased on 02-08 and seen this crack. With this crack dash problem on the same exact location where many other owners have seen this crack form right at the left side of the passenger air bag. I need to find out how will this problem be fixed?
2004 chrysler 300m well maintained with 77105 miles dashboard has started to crack over the airbag. The cosmeticissue is serious for such a new car , but more important is the fear of a potential safety issue with the crack starting over the passenger airbag. If this progresses like others that i have seen on the internet this will become very serious very quickly. I haven't found any recallson this problem. While i realize chrysler is going through bankruptcy this problem must be acknowledged and a solution found.
Large crack on the dashboard, happened on its own. Seems to be a recurring problem with this car.
5.5 inch crack developed on inside left of airbag housing on passenger side of dashboard.suggest that airbag safety may be compromised.
Dt*:the contact stated while driving 5 mph the air bag lamp illuminated.as a result, the horn does not work.the contact verbally spoke with the dealer about the problem.engine check light appeared. Fuel emission control:canister was leaking, and dealer replaced canister. Also replaced hood latch.

While pulling out of the driveway the upper ball joints failed.as a result, the front end collapsed.

While running, stationary, and motion the vehical ran hot, motor oil leaking while car in motion and parked. Car did not want to start, and shuts off while in drive. Car was taken to certified mechanic, diognostic test performed report indicated electrical and sensor problems among other mechanical issues.
The chrome covering the door handle started peeling about 2 years ago and i have sliced my finger wide open on several occasions, when my daughter sliced her finger open on the very sharp chrom covering that was peeling, i decided it was time to report it. If i had been able to afford going to the emergency room, i am sure i should have had stitches on at least one occasion. My husband tried to help and tried to peel the rest of it off, but it just changed where the slicey part is, not its on the palm of my hand instead of my fingers.
I am so disappointed. I always have regular checkups oil changes and so on. I had one in march of 2014 at a chrysler dealership in willard ohio shaffers. Then i had a coupon for an oil change for sharpnack in willard ohio in april 2015. Sharpnack put the car on the lift and immediately called me out astonished because no one had showed me the frame was rot. The front area was ready to give anytime. They would not touch it for safety nor fix it for anything. They did not want me to drive it off the lot. I then started research this is not just me. I called chrysler who wanted it looked at a chrysler dealership which i did and the car is broke from cradle rot. Chrysler has had many complaints on this yet nothing done and i could have been killed. I researched other places and toyota at least took care of their customers with a payout or new vehicle. I will have my car towed home and will not let this be. I have contacted all business i can think of and will contact all news and channels that will listen.
Diagnostics show code p0344 cam shaft position sensor.it was repaired under recall j18 in aug 09.called bob moore dealership (completed recall work) & chrysler recall line.they both say won't repair under original recall.this is the same exact part/problem.is there any way to get them to honor this?my cruise control shuts itself off, lights dim, and fails to start on occasion.

While drivingthere wasa glare throughthe windshield.this was distracting, it could cause an accident.
