On july 4 the abs light came on for no reason several times , staying on for long periods of time. There was a clicking noise in the steering colum and wheel . It sounded like it was coming from the left side. On july 5 , i was driving to work on a back road with several curves . The abs light came on again . Clicking was still happening as well. All of a sudden i felt like i was sliding on a sheet of ice. I swirved from side to side and could not get my car under control. Then my vehicle was on two wheels on the passenger side . Which then slide off the road and down a embankmentturning several times and landing on the roof of the car. The air bags never deployed. I am now suffering with a broken collar bone due to the accident.
The light for the airbag malfunction on the dash stays on all the time. When i first start the car it dings as it comes on. This car only has 12,000 miles on it now, but only 5,000 when this started. I am afraid of a malfunction if i have an accident. They light stays on all the time until you shut the car off. This started last june of 2015 and has happened every day since.

I contacted teterboro chrysler jeep dodge,in late june 2014to make an appointment for a safety recall defect. I had received a notice sometime in june of 2014. I contacted the service department by telephone, it took three calls to try to reach the service manager. On the third phone call i was told not to bring the car in for this free repair. I was told in the second phone call that the service manager was in a meeting.after going to another chrysler dealer the service manager from teterboro chrysler called and offered to fix the defect. He said he heard from nhtsa. I feel that teterboro chrysler had a bad attitude and they only changed their mind after i brought a letter to the district office of congressman scott garrett.

In 3 weeks time the car stalled midway in the highway while driving as if it were going to turn off. I took it in for repairs and it was the shock plugs. Then the brakes were not working. I took the car to replace all four brakes. A day later the battery light came on. After driving my son to school the car pulled back and shook and shut down. I took it back in for repairs and it was the alternator. Today the windshield wipers froze midway. This is the most unsafe car and all should be recalled in general.
Dash board lights flash, horn enables for about 20 seconds and vehicle does not start. Two batteries replaced. Two days of ase certified mechanic time. Half of which was charging the brand new battery that died within a week.on or about march 22, 2016, attempt to start car failed with the dash board light flash, horn enables, and the vehicle will not start. Horn enables for about 15 seconds each time we attempt to start. Autozone gold battery replacement performed by owner. Horn has not worked since this first incident; which should be considered a safety issue and not only addressed for possible wiring concern but passenger safety.within one week, battery was completely dead and battery was replaced and installed by owner. Within one more week, battery was completely dead. On april 13, vehicle was dropped at ase certified mechanic mayberry in columbia, tn and most of 4/13 was attempting to charge the battery. On 4/14, diagnosis resumed with fully charged replacement battery. Loose battery cable tightened. No other issue found. No solution found. Suspect owner will once again have dead battery within days. No horn function.
While driving on the road to my destination my car battery light came on. Drove it another 15 miles before the car began to die. I brought it to the dealership where it was determined my alternator had drained the battery and was no longer usable.
A follow up to add on to my initial complaint. I have a screenshot showing how dangerous this issue can become if not resolved. My wipers and horn are a safety concern since they aren't working due to a defective total integrated power module. Please advise before another chrysler owner has the same problem and could possible harm themselves in a crash or others.
I first got the chrysler 200m in june 2011. Two days after purchasing i was stopped at a red lightand once it turned green i tried to go the car and had no gas, no brakes, and i was unable to put on my hazard lights. The car had completely shut off on me until i placed the car in park, turn the key to the off position, and then restarted the car. My second incident happened when i was stopped at a red light about to takea left. Once the light turned green i proceeded to go and then i had complete engine failure again; while in the middle of an intersection. I lost my gas, my brakes, power steering, my radio shut off, and was not able to use my hazards again. I had to placethe car in park and once again restart it for the car to turn back on for me to be able to move out of theway of oncoming traffic. I then brought the car to the dealership where it stayed for one week; they said they were unable to duplicate the problem and therefore couldn't find the cause. The dealership has not given me back the vehicle and requested they drive the car with me to rule out operator error.
My check engine light had been coming on. They checked it when i got my oil changed on 9/13 but it turned off that morning. It came back onthe morning of 9/17 and later that afternoon when i was pulling into a restaurant the car shut off while i was going through the parking lot. I was able to turn it right back on and the check engine light was off again. If i had been crossing into traffic when this happened i would have been hit. I was lucky to be in a quiet parking lot at the time.
While driving, the vehicle loses all power. Just shuts down. No warning. No warning lights. No code. No check engine light.
Car has gone dead when slowing down to make a turn.brake light on dash flashed and when i tried to break at an upcoming stop sign my breaks went to the floor.air bags did not deploy when this happened.
My daughter was driving on the highway at 70 mph when the 2011 chrysler 200 just shut off.dash went dark, radio off, car completely turned off!luckily she was by an off ramp and was able to coast to a stop at the top of the ramp.the only thing that was still working was the brakes, thank goodness!the car did not restart right away.no electrical components came back on either with turning the key.about an hour later the car did restart.we took it to a chrysler dealership the next day.they kept it for 2 days.they were unable to pull any codes from the car or recreate the event, thus being unable to fix the car and answer why it happened!
Dash board warning lights come on and the car dies.i have had the alternator and alternator belt replaced last summer; now it is doing it again.the car is very dangerous and it simply "dies".
Driving down the road and the car just shuts off for no reason and i have to try to find away off the road without getting hit. After it sets about a hour it may or may not start.
My vehicle battery light came on after getting a new battery.then driving one day on street it just stalled out.it started up after 2 mins. Parked it about 1/2 an hour it started right back up only to stall again 2 more times both on street in heavy traffic.i got a alert oil change required (walmart)changed the oil made it homelater went back out for the car to stall again same busy street,it started about 4 mins later, made it home didn't move it couple days.mechanic put it on diagnostic said i needed alternator still stalling after new alternator.haven't had the car a month! battery light still on after new alternator as well.
I purchased the vehicle new on june 7, 2011. On september 29, 2011, while driving the vehicle on city streets and stopped at a traffic signal, the vehicle had a complete electrical system failure. I was unable to even turn on the hazard warning signals. The vehicle was completely without any power what so ever. This lasted about one to three minutes and the vehicle came back to life.on september 30, 2011, twice the vehicle had two (2) complete electrical failures while driving on city streets. Each time this failure lasted one to three minutes and the vehicle came back to life.october 3, 2011, the vehicle was towed to the chrysler dealership.october 4, 2011 at approximately 9:00 am, the dealership advised that they could not find any cause for the electrical failure and released the vehicle back to me.this same day (october 4, 2011) i drove the vehicle on the freeways in southern california and at a speed of approximately 65 mph, the vehicle had another complete electrical failure. I had no power assist in steering or braking, the motor was dead, all instruments were black, complete loss of electrical. I was able to maintain control of the vehicle for approximately three to five seconds and then the vehicle came back to life.as a results of this incident, the radio system when it came back to life was damaged by the electrical system failure and i then took the vehicle to the same dealership to show them proof that this vehicle has a very dangerous problem with its electrical system.the dealership is once again trying to identify and correct the problem.i am sure that the reader of this complaint can understand how serious this problem is and the danger this problem presents to the public. As a results of this vehicles electrical problem, i was almost rear ended by a semi-tractor trailer rig.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled several times and the contact had to make multiple attempts to get the vehicle to restart. The vehicle was towed several times due to the fact that it would not restart. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop who replaced the battery and the alternator, but the failure recurred. As the failure progressed, all of the various warning lamps, sensors, and gauges flickered on and off. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: (air bags, electrical system). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 69,850.
While driving on the freeway during stop-and-go, rush hour traffic, my vehicle's engine completely shut off without any warning. At the moment of the engine stalling, i was coasting with my foot off of the accelerator at less than 5 mph, up a slight incline, on an overpass and inside of a construction zone that was void of a shoulder to pull off onto. When i attempted to depress the accelerator to make it over the uphill overpass, the pedal was limp and nothing happened. The electrical panel in my dash was off, with the vehicle still in drive and no physical or audio signs of warning occurred prior to the engine shutting off. I quickly hit the brakes to avoid rolling in reverse down the overpass, shifted the vehicle into park and turned the ignition key to off. When i attempted the restart the engine, the vehicle started as if nothing had occurred. After driving through the remainder of the construction zone, i exited the freeway. After making a sharp, right-handed turn from the off-ramp to the local road, the emergency "brake" warning light on the dash turned on and was accompanied with an audio warning. The light remained lit for the duration of the turn and for approximately 500 feet afterward until it turned off. No other abnormalities were observed with the vehicle. The vehicle has slightly more than 120k miles on it and nothing like this has ever occurred in the past. This appears to be a common problem with the 200, especially with the 2011 and 2012 models. My engine is a 4-cyl, 2.4l. Despite this widespread hazard, and an early investigation by the nhtsa, no recall has been mandated. The rationale? because it occurs at a "low rate if speed". This is absurd. I was on a freeway overpass, inside a construction zone, during rush hour. If this not a hazard, i don't know what is. Please mandate a recall for this before someone dies on a train track or intersection.
The car cuts off when driving or seating at a red light need help to figure the problem out
My chrysler 200 will stall intermitenly going down the road. It does not matter if i am coming up to a stop sign or running down the expressway.which is what happened the last time and it was very scary.it will also chug at times like it is out of gas when i have a full tank or 1/2 a tank.i know that the 2015's were recalled and it sounds exactly what is happening with my 200.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. While the contact's girlfriend was driving at low speeds through a parking lot, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. Several hours later, the vehicle stalled again and all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed, but the contact replaced the battery and alternator himself. The failure persisted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
My 2011 chrysler 200 limited v6 will up and stall with no warning signs and between two dealership they can not locate the issue. The pcm and fuel pump are brand new and it still stalling with the last time being december 2nd 2018 as i was driving down the road going home. Hopefully the dealership will find out something as they ended up putting a car flight recorder on my car to record the stalling problem. By the way it had this problem since october 2016.

We left canada to go on a vacation to southern california, the trip was 3200 kilometres. All of a sudden the wipers went up about 6 inches and stopped without being on. Later did it again. A few more times. We then tried to turn them on and it went half way and stopped. After that it did all kinds of weird thinks from turning on when the switch was off. This problem caused us to have to stop several times during our trip due to raining and snowing. The last day when we finally arrived to palm springs, when i shut the vehicle off, the wipers were on at full speed. I had to disconnect the battery to stop it. I then went on the internet and did some research. Thank goodness for people posting their problems on the internet, i was able to diagnose the problem to the tipm. It appears to be a recurring problem with chrysler tipm's. And of course this is not a warranty item as the warranty had just expired in june. Totally disappointed with chrysler's warranty and recall of their tipm's. From what i have read about their tipm problems, it has serious potential for injury. It can quit totally all of a sudden shutting down all power and stopping the vehicle on a busy highway.
I have had my car major repaired in service over 24 times . I say lemon law! the first year i drive what dealership loaned me to drive while attempting to fix major mechanical problems. I put 5000$ down on my chrysler 200 s 2011. It's my 3rd chrysler to own. This one has caused so much headaches an out of pocket expense i don't know what to do! it sits again at dealership needing 3000$ more motor work. I drive it it totally dies losing all control no power steering on interstate .i-49 bentonville ark.almost hit by 18 wheeler. Awful!!! the car starts an stalls out! lights flicker in dashboard. Blows cold air when should be hot! heater not worked 2 yrs now. Take the key out an the car stays running! it's cursed i truly believe . The service department has never seen such! i don't feel i should pay what's owed on my remaining loan to chrysler. I've paid dearly since i've had this car. It's been a headache no one should have to go thru. Been stranded in arkansas way to many times an it's time i spoke up on the problems that i've had with this chrysler 200s. 2011! i pray nobody has had to experience this issue. Not safe at all !!!
When i was making a gradual right hand turn (curve to the right) at approximately 15 mph, on flat land, i experienced total engine shutdown, electrical shutdown, and loss of power steering in a split second - without warning.after i gathered my composure, i put the car in park, turned the ignition off, then turned the ignition back on and i was on my way without issue since.my 2011 chrysler 200 (4 cylinder) has only experienced this 1 time, but once is definitely enough for me!
The problem: popping #33 fuse (switch bank/diagnostic link connector/pcm), have been replacing fuses each and every time so i can go on with my business. I find that it happens between shifting gears. It does not matter if you are in drive/automatic mode or auto-stick mode. Did not turn my car in right away (now i wish i would have) because i would have felt silly if i had my car towed and the tech. Found that a $.25 fuse was blown.this is a very serious issue with a risk factor through the roof because the drive train completely shuts down.no power steering, no power brakes.at highway speeds you pucker up and hope you can make it to the side without getting into an accident before your car comes to a complete stop.first time it happened, it just rained heavily and i thought something got wet - entering the freeway up shift from 2nd-3rd 34084 milessecond time, turning into my driveway downshift from 2nd to 1st - coincidence? 35028 milesthird time, abrupt stop downshift from 6th to 1st 36013fourth time - pulling into work downshift from 3rd to 2nd 37112fifth time - slowing down on expressway downshift 5th to 4th 38223sixth time - slowing to a stop downshift 2nd to 3rd 38,764seventh time - during rush hour stop and go traffic (the last straw) up-shift 2nd to 3rd 39,134eighth time - within 15 minutes of seventh time stopping at a stop light. Downshift 2nd to 1st 39,146ninth time - next morning on my way to the dealership - up-shift from 4th to 5th 39,164went to dealership and made an appointment. Luckily i am conscious of my surroundings and was able to get out of harms way every time. I will not let my wife drive this car, for her safety, until it is fixed.is there a documented fix for this?
Going down the highway the electrical system shut down. This made steering, and braking almost impossible. All the gauges, lights, and wipers also went off. After coasting to the side of the highway and turning the key to the off position, was able to restart the auto.the auto shows no vehicle codes when connected to a scanner.
Was sitting still in a medium and was rear ended. There was no deployment of airbag, other system requirement or notification.
Wipers sometimes do not turn on when i need them to. Highly dangerous, i have pulled over in the ran before because my wipers on a four year old car will not engage. Additionally, wipers will turn on randomly sometimes during the day when i don't want them to. Not as dangerous, but still very annoying.chrysler tipm issue, the same one as previous issue 18 months ago. Wipers turn on randomly, sometimes won't turn on when needed. Replaced the tipm 18 months ago, and chrysler refused to pay (started a ticket with their national customer care). Issue has returned completely 100% identically as before. I'm bringing it back to the dealership, and i've reopened the ticket. They said they will "see what they can do"
Car stalls without much warning while driving. Engine light comes on, then a slight jerk of the vehicle, then power cuts out. Power steering loss,, radio display goes out and hazards won't work, which is very dangerous.if i turn the key off, i can restart the car and drive again, butit happens every few minutes. Very scary to be driving in rush hour traffic and have the car simply shut down and not be able to at least signal other drivers with hazard flashers.not a battery or alternator issue, as these have been replaced.something needs to be done before someone gets seriously hurt because the vehicle intermittently just shuts down.car is currently at dealership since mechanic could not figure out what was wrong.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled various times. The vehicle was taken to dch chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat of temecula (26845 ynez rd, temecula ca) where it was diagnosed that the brake lights, crank sensor, and battery failed on separate occasions. Each time the failures were repaired, they would recur. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown.

Letter from congressman garrett on behalf of constituent re chrysler recall notice. 2011 chrysler 2011. The consumer made an appointment with the dealer. However, they cancelled the appointment. The consumer referenced recall # 13v282000.
Car is a chrysler 200, 2011 , i was making a right turn, and the car stalled , the speed was around 10 mph , i contacted the chrysler dealer near my home and they told me that " do not know why the vehicle stalled " i explained , i was driving make a right turn and car stalled, and nothing works , car die , told me to bring the vehicle and i will be charge for it. I when to this site and i found out thatis a known issue with this car , why the dealer told me that ? and why thenhtsa do nothing about, is verydangerous, i could be involve in an accident, could be injury ora fatal .nhtsa waiting to be fatalityin order to get involved????? why we have to die ? to take actions.please fix this terrible issue.
Pulling onto a major busy highway my car shut off completely and would not restart. After spending $533 dollars in june for a electronic throttle control sensor, i'm now being told i have to pay $1300 to have the totally intergrated power module replaced which afterwards i may have to replace a power sensor. Of course, they won't know if the 3rd part is need until they replace the 2nd.
Over the past 4 months, our parents vehicle has been in to the dealership for servicing 6 times due to the vehicle being completely dead. The car never sat longer than 2 - 3 days without being driven. They were told the problem was due to the license plate light, then the glove box light not turning off, then they weren't sure.on 2/26, the vehicle would only start and run, while connected to the jumper. The dealership took the car in and had it for 2 full weeks. The dealership could not diagnose the problem. Mom & dad picked up the vehicle on march 14th, no explanation as to the cause of the problem. Went back to the dealership on march 19th to find out if any further information had been determined... Nothing! they were then advised the car has to be driven all the time, to avoid dying because the computer system never shuts off and therefore, drains the battery when the car is idle. They were further advised to purchase and use a battery tender trickle charger and to keep it connected to the vehicle whenever the vehicle is not in operation. This is very inconvenient as our parents are in their 80's and don't get around so easy anymore. This is not an acceptable solution. They've had this vehicle for almost 4 years, if the computer issue as described by the dealer were accurate, why did it work properly for the first 3.5 years and now has issues? the vehicle is still under warranty however, without accurate diagnosis, nothing is being done. The last communication we've had with the dealer was friday march 27th. Telling us if the car doesn't die again by this coming friday (april 3, 2015), they'll be closing the case. The problem has not yet been diagnosed or resolved. Is there anything we can do, any information you can provide, to help our parents get this issue resolved?
My steering wheel became hard to turn. It was like driving manually. I took my chrysler 200 to pep boys and they replaced the power steering pump. The steering was fine for a day then it went back to being hard to turn. I took it back to pep boys and they replaced the pump again. It lasted for three days and it went back to being hard to turn. I again retuned to pep boys and they then said that my rack in pinion had to be replaced.i could not afford to get the work done. I was told by chrysler, that my warranty had expired andi would have to pay out of pocket. My car was not yet 2 years old. This was ridiculous. No one wants to take responsibility for thefront end. I was told by a pep boys mechanic that they had worked on over 100 cars (chrysler 200's) through enterprise rental and they had so many cars with the steering issue that they stopped working on them and just do the tune ups. If chrysler knows about this then they should have repaired it. My car is still in this position. I have not been able to get repairs due to lack of funds. I still do not feel that i should have to pay for something that is wrong with a new car.now i am having an issue with my turn signal. When i turn on my left turn signal, the dashboard lights dim. When i turn the right turn signal on, the dome lights come on. I, again repeat, this is a new car and i should not have to deal with these occurrences. I have had to change the battery in its second year, and replace the alternator. I look forward to hearing from someone.thank you.
Car died will driving.had diagnose and was told alternator was bad.heard chrysler had problems with 300 model.my sons 200s model has same motor and alternator as 2011 300 model but chrysler said 200s model is not affected.i believe different because the 200s has the 3.6l motor and 160 amp alternator.same motor and alternator that the 300 has. I believe chrysler is not standing behind their faulty products.
Failure of alternator was indicated by battery warning light while driving on highway in heavy holiday traffic.it was necessary to keep driving slowly for next safe pullover location due to lack shoulder areas on elevated highway through city area atthat point. Within a couple of miles multiple system failure warnings appeared(abs, traction control, airbag) and car quickly began to fail engine and transmission functions with barely enough time to safely pull over on first available shoulder area. (this issue appears to be very similar to alternator failures on similar 3.6l v6, 160 amp alternator equipped chrysler vehicles listed in recent chrysler p60 recall.)
Car stalled on the throbs neck expressway while sitting in heavy traffic. When i got the car started again it initially wouldn't move. When i did make off the highway the car shut off on me completely. I barely made ut back to new jersey in the car because the car struggled to accelerate & move all the way home.check engine light is on as well as several other lights on the dash board. I had my entire family in the car that night (2 kids; husband & mother in law). I have been to the dealership 5 times to this issue & its not bern solved yet. This is my second complaint about this car to the nhtsa this time is more urgent because this car stalled in heavy traffic on a major highway this could've ended so badly.
While at a stop light the engine shut off without warning. We could not get it to restart. But the radio and the windows worked. When we would attempt to restart, the engine light and the electrical light came on. We had to have the towed to the dealer. The dealer could not find anything wrong since there were no codes and they could not recreatethe problem.
The alternator of the vehicle failed as i was driving and caused the vehicle to stop operating.
76 year old male 73 year old handy cap wife car stalled twice yesterday called chrysler they said no warrenty they do not have a fix will call lawer if it happens again
The alternator experienced a rapid failure:while driving on i-95 north through maryland at highway speed (~65 mph), the abs and steering control indicator lights began to blink on and off, joined shortly thereafter by the brake indicator.this went on for about 10 seconds before the vents suddenly began to blow hot air.i pulled over to the shoulder and shut the engine. The car would not restart and the battery died--no hazard lights, or anything. I lifted the hood to check and it smelled like something was burning. After having the car towed for service, they said it was the alternator. The car is a 3.6l with a 160 amp alternator. The same alternator was recalled for the same issue (nhtsa recall 14v-634) in the rear-wheel drive versions of these chryslers.from my understanding, the alternator in my car is identical to the recalled alternator, differing only in the housing.there were never any indicators that the alternator was going bad--no dimming lights, no history of requiring jump starts, etc.this came out of nowhere and would have put us in a dead car in the middle of a major interstate in a rainstorm had we not pulled over to the shoulder immediately.
My turn signal lights are not working all of sudden
My wipers have started to not exactly stop working but that stop then start up again when you try to turn them on as if they are glitching. Then my horn stopped working so i went to get my car inspected. The total integrated power distribution module was not working apparently, a $1300 fix. This car has been a pain. Have replaced part after part. Have had 3 recalls and truly believe this should be a recall due to it being such a dumb thing. Even the mechanic was like this is the most expensive fix for a horn that i've ever seen!!
At random times, the car will just shut off while driving l or turning. Absolutely no power for a little bit. This has happened multiple time. I am unsure if this electrical or something to do with the engine. I have called to see if there was a recall she was told there wasn't. I have seen multiple posts online speaking of this same problem from quite a few people
When driving the red lighting bolt light come with traction control light the total loss of engine power happen on the interstate at about 65 mph in heavy traffic had to turn car off then start back up this happens about every other day have replaced everything thay have said no fix very dangerous.
They have recall on it but have not yet fixed the problem
2011 chrysler 200.consumer writes in regards to vehicle engine cutting off while driving.the consumer stated the dealer was unable to find a problem.
This is the third time the engine completely shut off in the middle of driving. First time it started back up after 5 minutes. Second time started back up after being jumped eventhough the battery had charge. This last time the car would not start. It has the power it was turning over but the engine would not start. Power steering turned off in both occasions. I had to have me vehicle towed and it still will not start. I was driving approximately 60 mph on a paved highway route 244, it turned off on a straight away, no hills or turns.
Takata recall. Vehicle stalls when in motion.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the heater system in the vehicle became inoperable. The contact stated that the failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken to local dealer portage ford cdjr located at 3013 county hwy cx, portage, wi 53901 where it was diagnosed that the heat interchanger failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, however the referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
One morning, while driving, i discovered that the lights were on but the switch was on off. The fog and bright lights would not function. The blinkers did not function. The windshield wipers, nor solvent would function. Took the car to the dealer and they had to reprogram the tipm. No explanation as to why it had to be reprogrammed.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the battery warning light illuminated as the vehicle accelerated independently. The failure occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic but the failure could not be diagnosed. The vin was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the number 10 fuse had malfunctioned. The cause of the failure was not determined. Ertley motorworld (150 motorworld dr, wilkes barre, pa) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 89,000.
Unsafe for winter driving.1st. Time driven on patchy ice on state highway car was erratic. Every time the car crossed an irregular uneven patch in the road (i.e. Patch of ice or hard pack snow) car veers suddenly, violently left or right.dealer suggested taking snow tires off and putting matched set of tires back on thinking the mismatched set affected the stability control. Result was same with matched tires.chrysler 200 online forum shows many owners with same complaint.may be design flaw, rear wheel base wider than front wheels. Rear wheels will not track straight when encountering uneven patches of ice or snow.in my 35 years of driving in northern mich. It's the worst car i've driven in the winter.i just bought it, and now my wife is afraid to drive it.
My 2011 200 gave no signs of having any problems, started right up on the first key turn, i went to go leave the parking lot of where i was but as i pulled out onto the busy road and started accelerating, the car stopped going faster and instead started to only rev as i pushed on the gas pedal. Cars were approaching behind me so i pulled over to the side of the road, just in time for my car to indicate it switched itself into reverse. At this point i start panicking unsure what was going to happen next. My car was at about 5 mph at this point when the engine just died. The electronics worked for a while, until the battery died, but the engine had no hope in being started, even with a jump. After being taken to the shop i was told the alternator had failed while i was driving and that the mechanic had burnt his hand while checking it. They also mentioned something about the ground not being in place. The car had only been on for minutes, and has less then 32000 miles on it. Knowing chrysler had a recall on alternators in the past i contact them first but they gave me the run around, and still are giving me the run around, but i believe there is something else going on with my vehicle then they are letting me know as they mentioned the dealership had been emailing the engineers in regards to my car. I don't feel safe putting my 15 month old son in this car, let alone myself in this car. This car is only 5 years old and still has low mileage, and i've taken care of it like a baby. There were no warning signs of anything wrong, and no reason for anything to fail unless it was something internal and that leaves me unknowing if it will happen again, at any given moment.

The car has started to overheat and heater did not work but that has since started working on its own. Now car overheated and when driving it sounds as if water or something is trying to go through pipe but maybe isnt also started to leak all coolant. And battery is being drained. Had the car checked and replaced thermostat but that didnt fix issue.also when driving all lights on dash turned on and started to beep. Was just arriving at a store and when i came out car did not turn on. Had a tow truck come out and they jump started me and said something was draining my battery. Also when pumping gas it constantly stops and you have to keep pressing handle or move it around.
The vehicle stalls while driving. This is a very dangerous situation as 3 times it has stalled at 50 +mph and this has occurred on the highway. Another stall occurred on a curvy state road on a bend with no shoulder. No warning light of error code has been produced by the vehicle.
Lost power - car suddently stopped on i5 la to sacramento on the freeway and happened multiple times driving on the freeway...had to pullover. Car lost power. Thank god nobody hit me. Very scary.
The car accelerates and if i hit a bump or anything in the road my car will start to sway back and forth and has actually spun me around in a 360 motion on more than one occasion. Sometimes you dont even have to go over a bump or anything it just shakes and sways. It does it on any roadway, any condition. Its a death trap. I have almost been in very bad accidents 3 times because i lost comtrol because of the swaying. Once was a near head on with and 18 wheeler. Chrysler need to do something about these cars.
Recall on catylitic converter
I stopped at a stop light.the vehicle stalled while i was stopped at the light.i put the car in neutral and restarted it.

Driving a vehicle when the engine shut off going approximately 35 mithis has happened before many times
I have a 2011 chrysler 200 2.4l engine that over this passed week has stalled at least 8 times. Every time the vehicle will start to show signs of "lagging" and while at low speeds just shut off. I am currently a college student and rely on having a vehicle to drive, since i live 6 hours from home.tonight i was on my way home and it stalled on me 4 times every time i would get about 100 yards and it would do it again, finally i got a safe place to park the vehicle and had to walk back to my apartment. Tomorrow i am having the vehicle towed to get it looked at. The check engine light does come on every time this happens but i go through the menu on the steering wheel and it always say "system: ok" so no warning code is popping up. Which i know when i take it to the dealership they are going to say they "cannot replicate the problem" and just send me on my way. But this is a very big problem the steering wheel locks up every time the vehicle powers off and one of the times it has done this i was in the middle of an intersection. I no longer feel safe driving my own car and after seeing all of the other complaints about this same problem i would like to see something happen about it.
I owe a 2011 chrysler 200s and it has been stalling and cutting off without warningit has been taken to the dealership on different occasions and they cannot find the cause. I have read over 300 complaints about engine stalling with the same make, model and year of my car. Chrysler manufacturer is refusing to assist. I near cause 2 accidents due to car stalling on the interstate. When the car shuts off i had no steering capability and when trying to start it wont until about an hour later

When shifting into reverse or drive it has a hard jolt when going into gear.sometimes it is so hard that it jerks your body and head/neck, and it sounds like the transmission is going to unbolt from under the car.it does it a couple times a day, and then may stop for a few days but always comes back.i have noticed on the days it is not doing it i average more mpg, and when it is doing it the mpg continuously decreases when it is occuring multiple days in a row. On the days that it is doing it my transmission sounds more whiny than than usual. I have also had issues when putting it into gear, and pushing the gas pedal it tries to stall.it is a problem, and not "just the way those motors are".if it was "just the way the motor" is then it would do it every time you put it in gear, and not come and go and be much worse on some days than others.as time passes the jolting is getting worse and harder.also, my brakes make an awful squeeking/grinding noise when stopping slowly (stop sign) or backing up.when the car was checked i was told they could not find anything wrong with the car or brakes.this is very agrivating because it was bought brand new, and i am having these issues.i am making payments on a vehicle that is having these types of issues, and i do not feel safe in it.the way the transmissions acts i am afraid of what it may do while driving down the road.
My car was sitting at a traffic light, fully stopped, with the brake pedal depressed and the transmission in drive. When the light turned green, i hit released the brake and pressed the gas. Nothing happened. I looked down and saw that the engine was not running. The tach was at 0. I put the transmission in neutral and started the engine. It started right away and i put the car back in drive. I drove away without further incident.

Sunday afternoon i came to a stop to make a left turn. I proceeded i made it into the parking lot and that's when the car engine shut off. I put brakes on immediately to avoid hitting a car because i could not turn my wheel because power steering was off because engine shut off. Scared me. I took it to robersons dealership 2 weeks prior to this because it did it twice. They ran computer test found nothing wrong. And then today this happened. I am scared. I will take car back to dealership tomorrow. Monday jan 12 2015. I then read this has happened to others and chrysler did find a problem but nhtsa did not force them to recall. Someone could get killed if car stalls while crossing a road and get slammed into. This is in excusable, and needs to be recalled. I am scared and furious and shaken up. The steering felt weird right before it happened.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic stop, the vehicle stalled without warning.the contact resolved failure at the time by putting the vehicle in park and restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure recurred several times but only when vehicle the vehicle was at a complete stop. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but no assistance was provided to the contact. The vin was unavailable. The current mileage was 14,000. The approximate failure mileage was 11,000.
Stopped at red light, light turns green, i stepped on the gas & nothing happened.
I stopped at a red light, light went green and i let off the brake and car doesn't move.i pushed the gas and it still doesn't move. Also the engine makes no noise.. Car was still on so i had to put in park and turn car off and restart to get it going. Very dangerous and this is the third time its happened.
On 3/3/15 around 5:40pm i was driving 30 mph on the highway. I placed my foot on the accelerator, when my car turned completely off. I immediately turned on my hazards lights, slammed on my brakes and put the car in park, i turned the car back on and continued driving down the road, all this occurred so quickly i almost was rammed in the back by a large truck! im terrified to drive my car now, i don't have another car so i don't know what to do..
When accelerating my car will die and not start for two hours. The first time i was leaving a stop sigh and it died so i coasted to the side. The second time i pulled out to pass a slow vehicle going 40 mph and the car died. Both times i had to leave it for a couple hours and then it started. This happened a month apart.first time was in the city and the second time was on the highway.the first time i took it to a close by chrysler dealer who said they could not find anything wrong and charged 100 dollars to hook it up to there diagnostic reader.
While driving, usually decelerating or getting ready to stop or already stopped and getting ready to accelerate the engine will stall or completely shut off, will be completely hot, will take about 15-20 minutes and then will start again. This has caused my son safety issues where he's completely stopped running on a busy road and then had to push the car into either a parking lot without power steering (hard to do by himself at 18 yo) or into a driveway. This has also happened in the country at night. No lights come on except once when the abs and traction lights came on. The vehicle will vibrate slightly before each episode. The last episode we had to have it towed. Has happened about 6 times. Now no longer driving due to safety!!
Dash board warning lights come on and the car dies.i have had the alternator and alternator belt replaced last summer; now it is doing it again.the car is very dangerous and it simply "dies".
The chrysler 200 engine will stall when coming to a stop or already stopped. The engine fades slowly away and then completely turns itself off. This entire engine failing process lasts for approximately 7 seconds.this engine failure pose a significant safety risk and something needs to be donechrysler dealership are aware of this issue, but unfortunately don't have an answer for a resolution of it. This issue needs to be looked at much closer and in-depth, since further delays could cause accidents and death.i plead that chrysler takes responsibility for this problem and commence a recall program of the chrysler 200 model. I've personally experienced the engine failing 4 times already. I brought it into the chrysler dealership and have them take a look at it. I had to let the car sit at their shop for 2 days and they did not offer/give a free rental car for me. This car is under 1 year old. Prior to chrysler i only owned foreign cars because of the perceived notion that american made cars are not reliable. I decided to give it a chance and wanted to buy american, so i got the chrysler 200. So far that decision has turned out to be a big mistake (unless chrysler offers a resolution to this problem). I don't want to lose faith in the american car company and hope that they do the right thing.
I was approaching a traffic light and slowing down when the car stalled while i was still moving.once the light changed, i started it up again.it had no difficulty in starting back up.
While slowing for an exit ramp off of the highway the engine stalled. Could not restart and had to be towed away.
76 year old male 73 year old handy cap wife car stalled twice yesterday called chrysler they said no warrenty they do not have a fix will call lawer if it happens again
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. While driving 10 mph, the vehicle inadvertently decelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the throttle body malfunctioned and needed replacement.the vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown.
2011 chrysler 200.consumer writes in regards to vehicle engine cutting off while driving.the consumer stated the dealer was unable to find a problem.
At random times, the car will just shut off while driving l or turning. Absolutely no power for a little bit. This has happened multiple time. I am unsure if this electrical or something to do with the engine. I have called to see if there was a recall she was told there wasn't. I have seen multiple posts online speaking of this same problem from quite a few people
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the cylinder head needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at 20 mph and going down a hill, the brake pedal was depressed and the brakes hesitated to respond without warning. The failure occurred on two occasions. The contact also stated that while reversing, there was an abnormal noise. The contact discovered that there was a leak under the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, who diagnosed that the power steering lines needed to be replaced. The technician discovered that there was another substance other than brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir, which caused the brakes to hesitate to respond. The vehicle was repaired but the repairs were unknown. The contact stated that she was concerned for her safety even though the necessary repairs were performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 44,000.
While driving on the highway, my car cut off completely. I had to try and maneuver to the side of the highway to get out of traffic. The car did not start back up after 30 minutes. I have had problems for a month where the car does not restart after i go to the store.
I have been driving the car at speeds of between 15mpl to 70mph on country roads, highways and freeways when the engine simply shut off with no warning.this has happened 14 times during the last eight months between may 23, 2018, and january 10, 2019, 1/10/19 being last time it happened, although it has happened 14 times as indicated previously indicated.it was as if i had simply turned off the ignition.i have had the car into a dealership for repairs twice and neither me, the dealership technician nor the chrysler agent the technician contacted has been able to determine the component part or system that could be the cause of the engine shutting down.on january 10, 2019, i was traveling on a busy freeway (beltway 8) kn houston tx and exited the off ramp onto 249 ((tomball parkway) when the engine stalled coasting to a stop in a moving lane of traffic with cars, trucks and 18-wheelers passing me at 50-60mps.i have attached a description of each time the engine stalled and repairs that were done and the work that was done on the car.
In drive, coasting to a stop at a red light, engine down shifted and then once car at a complete stop, engine lost power - other electrical still working but not engine. Had to put car in park, then turn ignition key to restart car. Engine restarted and rest of trip was ok with no problems.
While sitting at a red light during my drive to work, the engine of my chrysler 200 simply shut off, with no warning light or indication associated with it.the car turned on without trouble when attempting to restart it. This is the second incident involving a stall with this vehicle.the first was august 29th, 2012, also at a red light during the drive to work.
The alternator of the vehicle failed as i was driving and caused the vehicle to stop operating.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the vehicle lost power without warning. The contact pulled the vehicle over and waited awhile. Upon restarting the vehicle, it operated normally; however, the check engine indicator was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to rouen chrysler dodge (1091 fremont pike, woodville, oh 43469, (419) 273-9944) where it was diagnosed that a new catalytic converter was needed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred later the same day. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 167,000.
Car stalls when stopped in traffic. This has happened 4 to 5 times.
Load metal to metal clunk when cars gas pedal is released or pushed down. Left wheel area is where the sound is coming from. Maybe axle area. Transaxle . Bearing area. Its going into the shop on friday.3/27/2015 , red wing, minnesota. They are going to take apart and have a look.ps: it has been doing this sense we got it . While driving my car all of a sudden out of the blue it will just dies sometimes at 50 miles an hour sometimes at 75 miles an hour sometimes at 5 miles an hour just leaving a stop sign no fail codes whatsoever. After about one or two hours of sitting the car starts right up and drives good until the next time it does it i'm not the only one who has been having trouble with the unsafe p.o.s.!
Driving 60mph on the interstate. Slowed to 45-50mph for traffic congestion. Tried to accelerate again but gas pedal didn't respond. Didn't realize engine had stalled. Drifted over to slow lane to try to stop. Power steering and brakes went out. Put it in neutral and turned the ignition. Was able to get off the highway and drive to the dealership for repairs.
This is the 2nd time this has happened in 11 months. (not sure of the exact date prior to most recent)was slowing to a stop, and once stopped, the car stalled. Both times it happened the check engine light "was not" illuminated. Everything on the dash appeared to work normally. Lights on, radio on, etc. I happened to feel the car rolling backwards, while stopped, and both times stood on the brakes to prevent the car from rolling back and striking the vehicle stopped behind me. (first time i actually thought i hit the car, but checked and did not see any damage) car restarted ok each time, and proceeded normally.in both instances, i was slowing to a stop (once from coming off the highway and stopping at a traffic light at the top of the exit ramp, and another time slowing to a stop from about 45 mph, on a city street)haven't notified the dealership (yet!) but became aware of this issue when i researched this on the internet. Add 1 more chrysler 200 to the "stalling" issue!(canadian vehicle - ontario).
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200.the contact was driving approximately 10 mph when the check engine and abs indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. Additionally, the vehicle stalled.the failure recurred for three years.the dealer replaced two sensors, but the failure recurred.the manufacturer was notified.the approximate failure mileage was 108,000.
After a shifting update performed at chrysler dealer in jan 2014. The cars transmission runs odd. The rpm sticks at 3 while driving 35 mph. Therpm gauge june while driving even w cruise set. Slow and hesitant while up hill or speeding up. Took to dealer 3xs w same issue no results. No warning lights or codes. One day the warning light dinged a few times while driving car but still no lights/codes. Dewey said drive it til it stalls (it has) or til dash light comes on.
The automatic transmission has always shifted hard and now the transmission is having a hard time shifting into the next gear, it revs up and i have to take my foot off of the gas in order for it to shift. This seems to only happen in the lower gears. Once i'm above 30 its fine. The code that just came on is low transmission fluid pressure.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 2000s. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The dealer however was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that they would further assess the failure. The failure mileage was 2,000 and the current mileage was 2,600. . updated 07/27/12the consumer stated on the second incident after being parked for ten minutes, the vehicle would not start. It was dead. 48 hours later the vehicle died while being driven. There were no warnings on the dashboard. 45 minutes later the vehicle started. The fourth incident happened while the vehicle was in the possession of the service rep. Updated 08/02/2012
The original date is sept. 2012.i was unable to enter this info above. I have been having problems with unexpected loss of power, (falling dead) since 2012.it normally happens when i am going slow due to being in traffic.i am stopped or barely moving and when we start moving i press on the accelerator and it will not go because it has fallen dead.i have to put my flashers on, pull over if possible, put the gear in park, turn off the engine and restart the car and it is good to go.there have been times this happens if i am at a stop light also when this occurs.the next issue is the low tire pressure light comes on most times when the weather changes.i have taken the car to a tire repair shop and was told when we have extreme weather changes, this will happen and to check the tire pressure every 3 weeks.this is costing me $5.00/trip for pressure checks.i have taken my car back to the dealership when i started having these problems, they checked the car, did a test drive, kept it overnight and said no problems were found.very disappointing and frustrating.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact restarted the vehicle and the vehicle functioned properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection however, the cause of the failure was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 16,000. The vin was unavailable.
First incident occurred when i was traveling on interstate. Approximate speed was 65. I began to slow in far right lane for exit ramp. The car immediately died leaving me with no ability to get off high way. No power steering, lights, etc. The car did start again after being put into park and turning ignition. Very dangerous as fast moving traffic behind me had to slam on brakes. Second incident occurred when sitting at a stop light. All of a sudden the engine revved up and car jerk forward into intersection. My foot was on brake but it still lurched forward. When i took to dealer they said they could find nothing wrong when they ran a diagnostic.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while stopped at a stop light, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The technicians were unable to diagnose the failure. The failure occurred a second time and was taken back to the dealer. The technicians were still unaware of the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.
I bought my 200s to commute back and forth to work. I drive 114 miles a day. This car has become very unsafe. *do not buy this car* it was an ok car until recently. 3 times in the last 3 weeks my car has stalled out. Every time it stalls out i loose break and searing functionality. Very dangerous. Twice it has stalled out while coming to a stop in stop and go traffic. I lost the ability to control my car while on a major hwy 45 in houston. Not a place you want to be and feel helpless. Luckily i was able to quickly shift into neutral and restart the vehicle before i got into an accident. The third time was a lot closer call. My car stalled out while i was slowing down on a hwy to hwy on ramp. (almost causing me to hit the lane divider) i had to use my emergency break and all my strength to control the vehicle and bring it to a stop. At that point i had cars backing up behind me and honking. Luckily i was able to start the car and drive away. (this could have gone a much different way. On a single lane on ramp from beltway 8 to hwy 249 4-5 stories in the air with cars all moving at 45-65 mph my car stalled in a 90 degree turn. I'm lucky i'm not dead.) i have taken it to a mechanic shop but they can not find the problem. It is not causing the check engine light to come on and not throwing any codes.
Driving on the road in motion, the engine shut down with no warning. Had it towed to shop where it started upon arrival (approx. 1 hour). No check engine light came. Ran engine scan and no codes came up. Diagnostic provided no information. Condition could not be repeated. Nothing was resolved. Happened several more times while in motion over the next 2 months. Sometimes on the freeway, some on a road. Always starts again after 45 minutes. Has been to multiple shops where nothing is diagnosed. Problem persists to this day. We installed an engine scanner to detect any codes given when engine quite. Codes are as follows:anti lock brakes codeu0401 - active/mil - implausible data received from ecm/pcmandpowertrain control module codep061c etc level 2 rpm performance
As i approached a traffic light i began to brake.as i came to a complete stop my car's engine cut off and all lights on the dashboard lit up. I struggled to avoid hitting the car in front of me as the car came to a complete stop.i turned the car key on off position and cranked it up.twenty minutes later as i came to another stop the car shut off and began to roll backwards into the car behind me. I was able to stop the car from rolling by heavily applying the brakes.i put the car into park and cranked it and it started but then immediately shut off again. I was able to crank the car a second time and drive off. I immediately took the car to the dealer.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while braking to stop, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the problem. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 6,000 and the current mileage was 11,000.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. While driving at 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to restart. The engine warning indicators illuminated. The failure recurred. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where the failure was undetermined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,000.
After 5 years, i discovered that there is a star issue on this car with casting sand contaminating the radiator, cooling and heating systems. The dealership wants to charge me $2200 to fix even though this is a known issue since before i purchased the car. It came out in february 2011. Star issue s1109000002. First my ac did not work. The dealer replaced. Then my heat did not work but dealer said it was contaminated with casting sand and it is a known issue and it is not fair that you have to pay but the extended warranty will not repair if contaminated. This is a known chrysler problem from the get go but not quite a recall. Now people are trying to sell 5 year old cars for parts only. There will be certain deaths from this issue when the engine eventually seizes up from all this contamination and causes crashes. The service manager stated that the fix actually does not really fix the cause. It will happen again!!!! i said why doesn't the dealership put in the preventive maintenance suggested in the star issue and he said because it does not happen to every car. So beware buying a 2011 chrysler 200 because it is basically a five year car period. The star issue number s1109000002 is causing engines to seize up due to large contamination throughout the hvac system, radiator, and engine as it spreads into everything. It is like driving a ticking time bomb that has no heat! it has not been a safety problem yet but as these vehicles get to be my mileage, these issues can become quite serious, particularly if they do not have it monitored by a dealer and the engine just freezes on the highway while driving because it is completely contaminated with sand. I paid $30,000 for a five year car and dealer will not honor extended warranty so i must drive a car that is not safe to drive anymore. There is also a current recall that airbags and seatbelt do not work in accident.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that she stopped the vehicle completely and it stalled. The contact also stated that the check engine light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact restarted the vehicle and it operated as normal. The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. When the vehicle was taken to safford chrysler jeep dodge ram fiat of winchester(1659 berryville pike, winchester, va 22603, (540) 667-5532) for inspection, the contact was informed that the vehicle was contaminated with sludge in the system. Also, the defroster was inoperable, and the heater core, engine oil, coolant, and radiator cap needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and provided a case number. The failure mileage was 108,210.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and the engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.
First incident i was leaving a parking lot my car stalled,2nd after a stop sign, 3rd pulling out of a driveway. And today at a stop light. Cannot get an appointment at dealership for 3 weeks since i need a loaner car. If it happens again,i will drive it there and demand it be fixed.
I drove my car for approximately 25 minutes, i stopped at stop light and when pressed the accelerator the car would not go.i put the car in park, then back in drive and the still will not go, then i put the car back in park, turn the car off and then put the gear in drive and then the car would go. This has happened 3 times...i took it to the dealership and they told me they could not find the problem.
As i was exiting the freeway coming from 55 mph down to 45 mph the car just shut off a car swerved around jumped down in a ditch due to my vehicle going to a fast halt i waited hours for a tow still didnt get it my car is left in the street because i was alone and couldn't push.... It is dark blue and dark on the street it was 11pm when it just broke down. I had no warning it did recrank but as i hit the gas softly i cuts back off now i have tried so many times due to the danger of my location the battery died this has to be a recall and class action suit.
I was operating vehicle on surface streets at approximately 35 mph when the vehicle slowed down and would not accelerate to more than 20 mph. I took the vehicle to a local chrysler dealer and it was diagnosed with a worn out throttle body. The part was replaced at considerable expense as the car was out of warranty. I was told by several parties that this failure was premature and the internal parts wore out because they were defective. The mechanic told me he replaces a lot of these throttle bodies.
While driving, the vehicle loses all power. Just shuts down. No warning. No warning lights. No code. No check engine light.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while approaching an intersection without warning smoke appeared under the hood. The contact got out the vehicle turn the vehicle off and back on however failed to start. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed back to the contact's residence. No dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but no further assistance was taken. The failure mileage was approximately 183,790.
The car stalls when it slows down or comes to a stop (for example at a red light). So far, it starts up with no problem. However, i believe this is potentially dangerous if it stalls in heavy traffic. There is no check engine light and despite attempting a variety of fixes, so far nothing has solved the problem.
Engine stalled out while driving with no warning and if lucky starts up after about an hour without any indication why.
The car dies while driving down the highway
I was stopped at a red light and light turned green went to press gas and car completely shut off no warning at all no lights on dashboard i put it in park shut it off and started it right back up with no problem this has happened two times in the last week also no codes coming up on scanner
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. While driving 10-15 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the passenger side cylinder head and cylinder number three showed no compression. The vehicle was currently being repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 58752459. The dealer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.
While setting the cruise control on this rental vehicle (enterprise car rental), my knee accidentally bumped the ignition which ended up turning the car off.realizing that the car was slowing down, i assumed that the cruise control setting hadn't taken.i tried to give the car gas manually and couldn't get the car to speed up.unable to maintain speed, i attempted to maneuver the car to the shoulder amongst trucks and cars going 65 mph + on the 3 lane interstate highway.the hazards and turn signals were inoperable and the steering locked up.i narrowly escaped collision.i was able to restart the car on the shoulder and continue traveling.
Lost power - car suddently stopped on i5 la to sacramento on the freeway and happened multiple times driving on the freeway...had to pullover. Car lost power. Thank god nobody hit me. Very scary.
Engine has stalled when pulling out onto the highway after being stopped at a light or stop sign.this has happened at least 3 or 4 times almost causing me to get hit by oncoming traffic.i told the dealership about it at the time.they checked and said they couldn't find anything wrong.
I purchased a 2011 chrysler 200 in july of 2011.i have had multiple incidents where my vehicle has stalled with my foot on the brake sitting at a stop light. I have taken in the vehicle to be serviced 4 times in 1 year for this reason.and i have been told each time it is something different causing the problem.also i have had two incidents where my vehicle would not start.i have had to have it towed twice in one month to the dealership, and both times i have been told it was my fuel pump.and there is one other time i took my vehicle in because it would have a slow crank and this incident i was told it was my battery so they replaced that.also just to mention my vehicle is currently only has 17,280 miles on it.
Driving down the street, the motor shut off. Ii had to put it in neutral and restart the motor.it has happened at least 4 times in 12 months.
When at a complete stop or low speed vehicles kicks like it is going to stall.this has happened since the purchase of the vehicle it was taken to the dealership two times in the beginning and the service technicians were not able to find the problem or feel it hesitate.the car was taken twice once in 2012 then 2013 problem could not be found.i have had the car for three years and this problem comes and goes. On 08/31/2015 the car finally stalled out when i was going to enter the highway. The car completely shut off and i was able to turn it back on once it came to a complete stop. At this point the check engine light came on and i was able to drive the car to the dealership.the dealership has indicated it is the crank shaft sensor and a harness that needs replacement.they received several codes when hooked up to the diagnostic machine and were not able to determine what the problem was until two days after it was in the shop. This is a problem that has been going on since i first purchased the vehicle and am quite surprised that there is no recall since we do run the liability of being involved in a car accident by getting hit from behind due to the car hesitating when accelerating after a complete stop.
Our 2011 chrysler 200 has about 8000 miles and has been stalling, surging idle speeds when stopped, and downshifting hard (jolting) for the last 2000 miles or so.tomorrow is the first time taking it in specifically for this reason after having the dealer annotate these symptoms during the last oil change.it is not save to have a car's idle jump while at a stop light or intersection nor is it safe to have a car stall out when slowing down.furthermore, it's a brand new car so this is completely unacceptable to pay for a defective product.if it does not get fixed i will be contacting my insurance company to let them know what is going on as i am fearful that one of these lunges will result in a crash.
The engine light comes on and then the electrical light; the car has stalled while in park; yesterday the car stalled while in drive, acceleration would not work and the car stalled while in the middle of the road; after turning off for a minute; it restarted; but the lights are still on indicating a problem; this is a very dangerous defect; i have read others have had this problem and it is being investigated; why is there not a recall on this safety issue?
The chrysler 200 will stall out of the blue and the engine will completely shut off. It has happened 3 times within the past month. It always happens when you let up on the accelerator. All the times it happened was while in the city.it happens while always in drive and on the road. 3 times had to get it towed. And every time after we got it home it would start up like nothing happened.please help. Its very frustrating
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle's speed reduced to 20 mph independently and the traction control and electronic control throttle warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road. The vehicle was driven with caution and would not exceed 20 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The electronic control throttle was being replaced. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 33,980. The vin was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. In addition, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond. The vehicle stalled and the contact crashed into another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician informed that the vehicle was operating as designed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 14.
Since purchasing this vehicle on 12/26/2011, the vehicle has stalled, completely turned off 3 different times while stopped at an intersection waiting for a traffic light to change.in all three instances, i had to put the vehicle in park and it restarted.i feel that this is dangerous and seems to be related to nhtsa action number pe12016.i am going to take it to the dealer but before i did, i wanted to see if other owners were having the same problem or if anything had been recalled when i discovered the numerous complaints.
Driving down the road and the car just shuts off for no reason and i have to try to find away off the road without getting hit. After it sets about a hour it may or may not start.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The vehicle stalled without warning. The engine restarted and the vehicle resumed normally. The failure occurred six different times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on four separate occasions for the identical failure. The technician was unable to duplicate nor locate the problem. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. There was currently an open investigation under nhtsa action number: pe12016 (engine). The approximate failure mileage was 4,000. ...updated 08-10-12 the consumer stated the car has stalled while stopped at red lights, stop signs, etc. About 8 times. Updated 08/14/2012
Heater core plugs from the dexcool braking down, then finally starts to leak causing lack of heat, eventually fogging the windows so you can't see causing multiple safetyhazards. Common problem from what i see on line! you don't realize insummer when you buy the car till you go to use it in the spring and it's not covered under warranty!
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while accelerating from a stop. The vehicle performed as normal upon restart. The vehicle was in the process of being taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 15,950.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving 10 mph. The contact was able to successfully restart the vehicle and continue driving. The failure had since recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to two authorized dealers and they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 4,000.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving from a complete stop, the engine exhibited slight hesitation without warning. The failure occurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. In addition, the failure recurred when driving up an incline. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate or locate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. An appointment was made to have the vehicle diagnosed at an independent mechanic which was still pending. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were contacted or informed of the issue. The failure mileage was 94,000.
Engine stalls while stopped or at slow speeds with no warning such as when approaching or in an intersection waiting for light to change or traffic to move. This has been a recurring problem that has happened while still moving and when stopped on city streets since i bought the car new in 2011. Repeated trips to the dealer resulted in nothing being done because diagnosis showed nothing
The engine died when idle at a traffic light. I had to put the car in park and restart the engine. This also happened while i was in front of a railroad track. I was very afraid that that car would not start. I was able to restart the vehicle after i had calmed myself. This is is very dangerous so i took it to have diagnostics performed at dealer. The vehicle report showed no computer codes indicating failure.
Stalled and died several times while leaving work. Rpms would jump and fall for no reason. When it was wet outside it was worse. Took to dealer 3xs they could not get it to duplicate so nothing was done. It would often stall at red lights and while in drive.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. Whether the vehicle was parked or while driving at any speed, the thermostat indicator remained illuminated. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and "thermostat error" displayed on the instrument panel. The mechanic stated that the coolant ran non-stop into the engine; therefore, the engine could not warm up the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.
So my car has stalled over 10 times since 2018 since it has died my insurance company will no longer come until i get this fixed . While driving on freeway and busy road while accelerating my rpms will drop to zero and i will loose power steering. If i'm lucky enough to get to the side of the road i have to turn my car off wait 45 mins to restart car will not turn over. I have done an electrical diagnostics and nothing comes up.
This doesn't happen every time i drive the car. As i'm slowing up to turn, or coming up on a stop sign or red light, the car tends to start stalling. If i put the car in neutral before stepping on the breaks, it doesn't do it. But if i don't put the car in neutral it will stall & the rpm will drop to 0 & the car will cut off.
My car was purchased new and is "jerking" and "lunging" while driving and has even died, in gear, while stopped at a traffic light. Service department says that since there is no code, there is no problem. Meanwhile, the problem persists.
I bought the new 200 sept 9 2011.on jan 19, 2012, o again after 1 week, went to the dealer service shop because the low tire pressure monitor light remained illuminated.theyreset the tire pressure monitoring system.as i was driving thru the lot, about to leave the dealership, the engine died.so i restarted the car, but it did not run smoothly or sound good at all. It sounded, ran and felt like the fuel mixture and pressure was faulty.check engine light was now on.i turned around and returned to service dept. And told them what had just happened. They checked into it and after 20-30 minutes said the map sensor need further evaluation and i had to leave the car there. They said map is manifold absolute pressure. They called me later and said the map sensor was bad and needed to be replaced.notes on the work order say something about a "p0108" maybe it's po108 (zero or an o??) problem.the next morning they said nothing was wrong.twice since then engine has idled very poorly but it didn't die.
Beginning appx two weeks ago, this vehicle has died twice while stopped at a signal light.it was taken into the dealership on 3-5. They said without a vehicle code reading nothing could be done. This is a serious safety concern.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated the vehicle would jerk and stall without warning.the vehicle had been taken the dealer several times, but the dealer stated they could not duplicate the failure. 2011 chrysler 200 sedan. Consumer states car dies randomly *tgwthe consumer stated it didn'tmatter whether the engine was cold, hot or warmed up. The engine would completely stop and she would have to put the vehicle in park and re-start the engine.the incidenthappened at least 15 different times, since the vehicle waspurchased and it usually happened when a stop was made in traffic, at a stop sign, or slow in stop and go traffic. The vehicle was taken to the shop at least five times for the problem and was in the shop twice for transmission problems.
My chrysler 200 limited that i purchased in may 2011 has been shutting off sporadically while stopped at red lights. It has happened to me three times in the past three weeks (mid-feb through march 2012).i have had it serviced twice to try to fix the problem, but both times i have been told that nothing can be done because no computer codes for malfunctions can be detected. It seems to be happening while the engine is idling. This has happened on several very busy roads, and has left me with my flashers on in the middle of parkways in the city with 6 lanes of traffic. I run a serious risk of being rear-ended. I have to put the car in park, and turn the key to "off" and then turn the ignition back on again before i can go.the car starts up fine and has not as of yet happened again during the same trip. It is unacceptable and dangerous that a brand new vehicle is doing this.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200.the contact was driving 60 mphwhen the vehicle stalled without warning.the contact was able to restart the vehicle and took the vehicle to a dealer for a diagnostic test.the dealer could not find a defective code to identify the problem with the vehicle.the contact stated that the stalling would occur sporadically and the contact had encountered the failure at least four times without warning.the failure mileage was 5,016.
My heater quit working on passenger side. It will not blow hot air through defrost, vents or floor on that side. Took it to dealership and they claim i need new radiator, reservoir bottle and heater core due to sludge from factory. Its going to be sixteen hundred dollars to fix. Chrysler admits to this problem in the 2012 model but not 2011. I feel like this should be a recall and chrysler be responsible for fixing it.
Was pulling up to a traffic light after getting off the turnpike and the car stalled. This is the 4rth time.
Engine shut off again while at a stop light.this is the third time it has happened.
Was stopped at a stop light and as i began to go my engine completely stopped. I had to put my car back in park and turn the car off and restart the car. This occurred again a week and a half later and i had to do the same thing. This is extremely dangerous and i had my children in the car with me at the time.
In 2011, i purchased a new chrysler 200s. The list price was $27, 835. In 2015, the heat in my vehicle stopped working and only blew out cold air. I was told by the chrysler mechanic that i needed to replace the heating core. I went to lloyd's automotive and paid $300 for a heating flush as lloyd's informed me that a car that is only 4 years old should not have issues with the heating core. Later in 2015 my heat went out again. I took my car back to lloyd's auto and was informed that i should have the heating core replaced. The parts were on back order because other owners of this car were also having issues with the heating core. I did some research online and found that this was accurate but chrysler had not ordered a recall. Owners of this car were having to have the heating core replaced. I reside in minnesota where the temperature drops below zero. I could not get my car repaired. This limited my social outings as i have a child and could not have him driving around in a cold car. I feel that chrysler should recall this vehicle to fix the heating core.
When i stopped at a traffic light, the car died and i didn't"t even know it.when i proceeded to drive forward, the car had died completely, and i almost got rear ended.this happened 3 times4/8/12, 4/10/12 and 4/21/12.i took the car to my dealer @ chrysler jeep dodge.cleveland avenue, newark delaware.19711.phone 302-731-0100.they checked it out and said there was nothing they could do.they said the codes showed nothing.this really bothers me, i can't sleep, and it makes me unsafe.it puts my safety at risk and others.
While driving this car has stalled on 5 separate occasions. Once in front of an 18 wheeler, there was no collision but it was close. One in an intersection as i went through a light in multiple lanes of traffic, once while pulling into traffic around a busy corner, once in a parking lot while attempting to park, and once on a county road. I notified chrysler they refuse to replace the vehicle stating it does not fall within the lemon law guide lines. They are completely aware of the problem and yet i am still forced to own and pay for a vehicle that is not safe to drive and may put my life in danger.
12/22/11 - while coming up to a red light, almost at a stop, the engine shut off. The lights worked and the radio worked but the engine was off and the steering didn't work.i was able to put the car in park and after 2 tries the car restarted. I took the car to the dealer the next morning and they were unable to tell me why the car shut off because there was no code recorded.2/16/12 - while pulling up to a light, going about 10 mph, the engine shut off. Was about to put the car in park and restart the car.called the dealer and will be taking it in again 2/18.dealer states since the engine light didn't go off, chances are there won't be any code to let them know why the engine shut off.
Jolting while shifting gears, engine light on, for no reason.taken to dealer.first time, was told this is normal.vehicle getting used to my driving patterns.2nd time, engine light came on, stayed on over 24 hours on a non dealer business day (easter) 4/8/2012. Jolted, stalled, jerking during the day on 4/8/2012 morning of 4/9/2012, light was still on, called the dealer.asked to bring it in,they will try to duplicate the issue.this is a really scary and unsafe feeling, brand new cars should not do this. Engine has idled very poorly, it came close but the engine didn't die. Something is wrong with this car.has happened multiple times.
This is the 3rd time the car has died.this is what happened when it died today.car was being driven by my son on his return from the doctor office.he was driving approximately 30mph and slowing down for an upcoming slope and 90 degree right turn.as the car headed down the slope, it suddenly lost power.he was unable to brake, or turn the wheel.being unable to stop the car he hit a tree head-on.this deployed both airbags even though he was alone and pretty much demolished the car's front end.the police said if it hadn't been for the tree, i would be sitting in at hospital or planning a funeral, as the car would have plunged down a 25 foot embankment filled with large boulders.i will be contacting chrysler tomorrow morning.
While stopped the engine shut off completely, there was no sputter or jerking. Only engine shut off as if gas stopped flowing to the engine, there was 3/4 tank of gas in the car's tank. Not check engine or any other warning lights appeared. All electronics in the car were still full functional. Vehicle had to be put in park, and key had to be used to turn engine back on. Creates safety hazard not only for passenger in the vehicle but also other drivers on the road.
I purchased this vehicle new in july 2011. The car has a very jerky motion when driving regardless of the speed you drive. I have taken it back twice and the dealership claims it's a computer problem. No error lights show when they test it but so much of the vehicle operation is controlled by computers. The second time i had the vehicle test driven by a chrysler mechanic who felt the jerky motion and stated it's getting caught in between gears and that a computer software upgrade is needed but the car is current in software. The jerky motion has increased and now is a daily occurrence many, many times a day. For the last month the jerky motion (which feels much like the car isn't getting gas and shuts out for a second or when you have a manual vehicle and you don't clutch to change gears and the vehicle shut off) is now accompanied by a bang and the car feels as if it's about to shut off. The car lunges and the noise is so loud the first three times it happened i thought i had been struck by another vehicle.
Flimsy front floor mat migrated and bunched up under accelerator pedal preventing acceleration as needed even though mat was hooked on hook provided. Head end of mat rotates over toward accelerator pedal when getting in and out of car. Inability to accelerate as needed could be as dangerous as a stuck accelerator. It is conceivable that this situation could also result in a stuck accelerator pedal.
Continued problems with heating system on chrysler 200, year 2011, touring model, v6 pen star engine:lack of heat on passenger side, & side windows fogging up.little to no heat on driver's side.i have taken the car to the chrysler dealership 4 x and each time, they flush and check the heating lines and say there is nothing wrong, that i have heat. The heat seems a little better for a short while, then the same thing happens again, i lose heat and only cold air is blowing out of vents with heat setting on max.i paid for an extended warranty when the vehicle was purchased new.i am told each time there is nothing wrong.there has to be something wrong! i never owned a vehicle with this problem and am very disappointed.what am i to do with no heat and subzero temps.?? now the driver's side has little to no heat and windows are fogging up.there must be a manufacturer defect in the heating system on these vehicles.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the air conditioning unit failed to operate and began to edit smoke. The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. While driving approximately 45 mph, the headlights were activated but failed to illuminate properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer four times for the failure. The dealer advised that the headlights functioned as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the continuous problem. The approximate failure mileage was 400.
We recently purchased this vehicle and when we drove home on our rural roads we noted the headlights on low beam do not provide proper vision going uphill, illumination literally cuts off a short distance in front of you. This is extremely dangerous and using high beam is not always possible with on coming traffic yet there are still dead spots where you cannot see far enough ahead of you to avoid an animal, child or object in time to react.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph on a curved road, the roadbecame difficult to seebecause the low beam headlights illuminated downward instead of upward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice. The technician advised that the low beam lights were operating as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the headlights would not illuminate properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technician stated that the head lights were working based on standards. The mechanic also advised that they were unable to alter the design of the headlights. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000 and the current mileage was 16,000.
This is not a one time occurrence.with the low beam headlights on it is like a curtain over the road and is constantly moving. One minute you can see 300' and the next instant you can't see 40' in front of you. This is on a two lane road where their are not lights going up and down hills and curves.never in my 55 years of driving have i ever seen anything like this.i have had it into dealer and they adjusted the low beams up but, the problem still happens.i have also reported it to chrysler and they just say they will get back with me.it is very dangerous and will cause a wreck. I don't like driving it at night at all.
This not a one-time occurrence.the headlight light has a very narrow height.it is literally like a curtain over the road and is constantly moving up and down with the variations in the road.one moment you can see 500 feet ahead and the next you can't see 50 feet (i am not exaggerating).it's not just that the light is dimmer the higher up you look, it hardly exists at all.this car is not drivable at night under any circumstances. It is very dangerous and will cause a wreck.
Driver's headlight operates intermittently while passenger headlight is unaffected.car has been to 2 shops and had multiple techs and no one can locate the problem.by intermittently i mean that the light may or may not work each time you start the car.
The safety issue of the headlamps not giving light enough distance.talking with nhtsa, i was told that other manufacturers have the same complaints. Chrysler vp even suggest i look into getting different headlamps but they would not install them on my car or put it in writing.

Low beam illumination is very poor on this vehicle and model year. In dark area with little to no street lighting it is very easy to veer off the roadway due to lack of vehicle headlight illumination. My best estimate is that the low beams on this vehicle only illuminate about 2 to 3 car lengths ahead. Illumination off to sides of vehicle is also very poor. I would truly be shocked of no one has been maimed of killed yet as a result of this vehicles very poor lighting.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200.the contact stated that the exterior headlight would shutter when the vehicle would travel downhill, making it difficult to see at night.the dealer and the manufacturer were notified, but denied any assistance with repairs to the vehicle.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 66 and the current mileage was 9,179. Updated 01/05/12*ljthe consumer stated the high beams and low beams used a shutter to cover part of the bulb when going down hill and levels off. The consumer was unable to see the road ahead. The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the headlights did not provide sufficient lighting. The contact also stated that unless the high beams were activated, the field of vision was very narrow and only extended about twenty feet. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was advised to purchase brighter headlights. The contact was also informed by an auto parts store that there were no brighter headlights made for that vehicle. The failure mileage was 17,400 and the current mileage was 18,000.
My turn signal lights are not working all of sudden
After minimal rain, the driver's side headlight assembly fogged up and accumulated drops of water inside the sealed unit. Took vehicle to dealer, technician said seal around unit is cracked and needed to be replaced. Dealer charges over $500 dollars for replacement. Nighttime visibility is drastically reduced. Repair is not covered under any warranty. This is an issue chrysler knows about but has not issued a recall.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact statedwhile driving 45 mph at sundown the headlights didn't seem to illuminate correctly. The headlights would only illuminate at a short distance and not far away. The contact had experienced the failure since she purchased the vehicle. The contact does not feel safe driving the vehicle at night. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated they would align the headlights.the failure mileage was 470 and the current mileage was 512.

The approximate failure mileage was 62.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that whenever the headlights were activated, the low beam headlights would only illuminate 20 feet ahead of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the headlights were working as designed. The current and the failure mileages were 200. Updated 04/10/12*lj
We purchased the car on feb. 11, 2012. After filling the gas tank within 100 yds. The car stalls and cuts out. This happens everytime we fill up, there has only been about four times that this has not happened in the fifteen months of us having the car. We have taken the car back three times to the dealer bill bryan chrysler jeep dodge, and they say that they cannot duplicate it.................we feel that this is so dangerous, whenever we fill the tank, we always go out onto a back road, as we know that it is going to happen. We once came out onto a major road after filling up, and nearly got smacked in the back as it stalled..............

The vehicle stalls while driving. This is a very dangerous situation as 3 times it has stalled at 50 +mph and this has occurred on the highway. Another stall occurred on a curvy state road on a bend with no shoulder. No warning light of error code has been produced by the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning while attempting to accelerate after a complete stop. The failure was experienced several times. The dealer stated that the failure could have been due to a fuel delay. The failure mileage was 6,100 and the current mileage was 12,625.
The car dies while driving down the highway
I see some chrysler products are being recalled due to a faulty valve in the gas tank.i have a 2011 200 that may have the same problem.i have a 16.9 gallon tank.after 13 gallons, something turns the gas pump off.it is impossible to get more than 13 gallons in the tank.i have had the tank drained by chrysler to verify my claim.which they did. They told me they were designed that way to prevent over filling.the last chrysler mechanic i talked to says its a flaw in the gas tank.chrysler will not admit there is a problem.could this be the same problem?
For no reason hood latch releases. It has happened a total of 6 times. After the first 3 times the hood latch was replaced by dealer. It has happened again 3 more times. I noticed it when trying remote start and engine wont start. Noticed again when driving and noticed that the hood was shakingand had to pull over to close the hood. The last time i just saw that the hood line was sitting high and had to close the hood.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. When starting the vehicle and while driving various speeds, the vehicle would exhibit a slight hesitation. The failure occurred whenever the vehicle was operable. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,000.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, over a bump, the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver. In addition, when the brake pedal was depressed it would vibrate. The contact mentioned that the harder the brake pedal was depressed, the harder the vibration. The contact also stated that the vehicle shifts out of gear and accelerates independently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the tires needed to be rotated. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
1.this started weeks after i bought my new car.it has happened many times, at various times.when i take my foot off the gas the transmission clunks into a downshift.i brought this up to my dealership's attention twice.by the second timethey said, "it's learning the way you drive".huh??then they did some kind of adjustment to a computer component, i don't think it made a difference.there is something wrong with the transmission and they don't seem to want to investigate it.a few times it took a second too long to downshift.2.i also find the car is too heavy for a 4cyl.it is just the way it feels.3.the footbed area is too small.i don't have big feet yet i sometimes step on the heel of the other foot.weird.
I purchased a chrysler 200 limited in march 2011. On several occasions, the transmission has jerked really violently in between gears (first to second and second to third), made a loud popping noise while driving slow. The first time this has happened, i thought that something hit the car. I have since taken my 200 to the warranty service center here and they said they could not find anything wrong. The symptoms only occur after the 200 has been driven for more than 10 miles and stopped for a few hours then driven again. I have the 2.4l engine.
When my car goes between 60 and 70 mph the car shakes and the rpms jump to about 4 to keep the car at the speed i need it on high ways. My mechanic said it was a known issue for this car and year. But he could not find a recall. He said that the transmission would need reset by a dealer. Which is not cheap.

I started having problems with the transmission.thursday 9th feb i was going to work my speed was around 65-70 mph. I slowed down to let on coming traffic and my transmission just jumped hard. It has sometimes clunked when going around 45 mph but not that hard. It scared me i thought my transmission was falling out. I bought it 2 months agoand had no other problems until just now.
When driving my 200 if i am entering traffic and have to increase speed (go above 3000 rpms) it will hesitate with no increase in speed before jolting into the next gear. It will do this at any time, from a complete stop or while driving at 45mph and needing to pick up speed to avoid an accident too. Ive almost been hit several times, so now im the annoying person who waits to go until no other cars are approaching. I always warm up my cars before driving and this car will try to die multiple times for no reason.

The automatic transmission has always shifted hard and now the transmission is having a hard time shifting into the next gear, it revs up and i have to take my foot off of the gas in order for it to shift. This seems to only happen in the lower gears. Once i'm above 30 its fine. The code that just came on is low transmission fluid pressure.
After a shifting update performed at chrysler dealer in jan 2014. The cars transmission runs odd. The rpm sticks at 3 while driving 35 mph. Therpm gauge june while driving even w cruise set. Slow and hesitant while up hill or speeding up. Took to dealer 3xs w same issue no results. No warning lights or codes. One day the warning light dinged a few times while driving car but still no lights/codes. Dewey said drive it til it stalls (it has) or til dash light comes on.
When driving the red lighting bolt light come with traction control light the total loss of engine power happen on the interstate at about 65 mph in heavy traffic had to turn car off then start back up this happens about every other day have replaced everything thay have said no fix very dangerous.

I will be driving and while shifting gears, my car will stop and suddenly jolt really bad. It was so bad the other day the car behind us laid on their horn because they were about to hit us. I am sure that this car thought i slammed on my breaks, but that is not the case. This car always stops then surges or jolts. It is a major safety hazard and i am very concerned. Chrysler will not fix the problem because they say they have not duplicated it which i do not believe. They also said they have never heard of this issue although i have read about multiple cases just like mine on the internet. This happens to me very often!

Ii'm still waiting for over a year to get my car fixed for an airbag recall
Went to buckle up and the latch and the seat belt buckle doesnt latch. No car should ever have the seatbelt not work as its the most critical safety component on the car.and my car is a 2011 with only 54000 miles.chrysler customer care service told me it was covered under their warranty and took to garber chrysler, buick who said they looked it up and it is not covered.contacted chrysler again and after they talked to garber said its not covered.this is so unaccetable as they know these parts are defective and don't fix them.

Car has gone dead when slowing down to make a turn.brake light on dash flashed and when i tried to break at an upcoming stop sign my breaks went to the floor.air bags did not deploy when this happened.
When in reverse the back brakes squeak.took the vehicle in and was told that this was normal, i took the car back and was told that when it is cold or hot the brakes would make the loud squeaking sound.the next time i went back was told that chrysler is aware of the problem but there is no fix.i'm have been told several time that there is no fix.

My first problem is an worsening squeaking and grinding in my brakes. I purchased the car in oct 2011 and started having squeaking brakes in march 2012. I have returned my car to the buying dealership three times prior to my 12,000 brake warranty. I was told by a certified chrysler mechanic nothing is wrong with my brakes and they did not hear anything. My brake issue has gotten worse i hear it constantly with any stopping motion. I then took my car to a non certified chrysler mechanic and i was shown my rear brakes are warped. And the brakes are defective. This mechanic did not want to fix the issue he stated return to your dealership because even if we replace the pads the defective parts will cause the problem again. I called the buying dealership that same day and told the person in service center what i was told he guaranteed his technician did their job and refused to look in the system to provide me with exactly what she did since the issue was not fixed. Needless to say that individual is unprofessional and totally disregard my concern. I called chrysler headquaters filed a complaint that same day. A few days later i took it to another chrysler dealership the technician agreed my rotors in the rear where warped and "reglossed them" this did not fix the issue. I returned a few days later telling him the noise never went away. I was told i would have to pay for the new brake pads or to be reglossed. He advised me my pads are placed in a certain position that causes them to make that noise but could not give me a straight answer if this was abnormal or normal. But pretty much deal with it. I have all the paperwork from each dealership and mechanic regardless if the warranty is expired if the brakes are defective they will never work properly. My second concern is my car has stalled three times in the month of june 2012 while driving going less than 20 miles.

When i took to dealer they said they could find nothing wrong when they ran a diagnostic.

After two visits to the dealer where i bought the vehicle report that has damaged the rack and pinionand i should wait two weeks for repair because they have no parts available in stock. I do not know if it is safe to drive the car in these conditions because it did not inform me.

The contact owned a 2011 chrysler 200. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle independently swerved to the right and struck a frozen embankment. The seat belt failed to restrain the contact. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed away by the insurance company. The contact sustained injuries to the head, lower back, jaw, and several broken ribs. Medical attention was required. The vehicle was totaled. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v668000 (seat belts). The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.updated 7/16/18
While accelerating or decelerating to the speeds between 50 and 55 mph, the steering wheel gives a vibration, and stays vibrating until a different speed is reached.before or after the driving speed of 50 and 55 occurs, i do not notice the vibration.
Hearing front end clunking sounds when accelerating from stop and slowing down to a stop, and also noticing slight pull on steering, i brought my car to chrysler dealer in avondale, az.since my car is under warranty, only 15 months ownership and under 22k miles, i am concerned.this is the 2nd time my car has had serious problems; first was the transmission which fell apart at one week and 500 miles.the transmission was replaced at no cost to me by this dealer.my concern now is the front end - i was advised the inner tie rod ends are defective and must be replaced; items are on backorder.why would tie rod ends be defective, so soon, with not excessive mileage at this time?the service manager verbally noted that my car is not the only one with this problem, and yet, no recall has been issued at this time - why not?shouldn't the tie rods also be replaced since they're not affected by the defective tie rod ends?in my opinion, a recall needs to be issued for safety concerns re: tie rod ends on this vehicle.
After vehicle reaches highway speeds for 30 or so miles there is a loud clunking noise in the steering area in the engine compartment. Took to dealership and they replaced tie rods and did a alignment. 2 days later same thing happens as well as the alignment was way out of specs, took back to shop where they replaced sway bar and left strut and alignment. Few days later the same sound is happening and the car is out of alignment ruining a new set of tires. Taking back to the shop for third and final time.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while turning right or left, there was a rattling noise. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the struts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000.
There's a horrible clunking noise supposedly coming from the steering wheel area. I have yet to find anyone pinpoint what it is plus i'm told the warranty is up. I originally complained to the dealer about the noise coming and going last year. No one heard it until may 17 when i drove about 40 miles at 65 mph on a highway. Since the the amount of time it takes for the noise to start has shorten to driving about 10 miles at 30 mph. I can't even go across town to get groceries w/o the noise starting up and getting really bad. After being at the dealer twice and 2 other mechanics i've been told it's either the intermittent steering shaft or the steering rack. Now online i see a recall on some rivet. Even a call to chrysler itself yielded no results. I'm told this repair will cost $1,000 to $2,000!!! i don't have that kind of money!! please, please, someone help me!! i'm dependent on my car!!
The paint is chipping on the edge of the doors , all up and down the edge of the doors. This is happening on all the doors. We do not hit other cars with the doors. Have always bought chrysler but this is the first time encountering this.
Was rear ended by a car traveling at 60mph and was pushed under a truck. The engine popped up and the back was pushed up into backseat. I wrote twice but never heard nothing back. I go to court for my accident since the owner of truck suing me and driver behind me june 30, 2014. My car was totaled with cost of repair $21000 on a car i had for approx 8 months. Date of accident was 6/9/12not one air bag came out/ deployed. I was taken to hospital in ambulance on a stretcher.what can i do?
Brought car new off show room floor at dave dennis chrysler dodgedealer dayton ohio on a cloudy rainy day on the next day dry and nice out on the rear and passenger side of the car i could see marks in the paint took back to the dealer and ask what happen to the paint they said they will take care of it but a few hours later thay told me it was done it looked worse than before thay started so thay had me come back 2 weeks later to see some one in the body shop but he did not work for chrysler he did detailing on cars and buffing on paint and he told the dealership that he would not touch the car and thay would not tell me why so there body shop did it 3 more weeks went by had other problems with air coming though back door seals and noise in back of car never did get fixed kept getting run around so 11 months later tired of dealing with car i went to trade it in at same dealer thay look at it and told me there is something wrong thay can not take it as a trade that's when thay told me it was wreaked at the dealer before i brought it but thay told me that because the repair was under 1000.00 thay did not have to tell me the work thay did on it after i got was a 1000.00 but i found out damage was done to the rear of the car and all of the passenger side and paint that why door will not seal i ask to see the paper work on what thay did to the car before i got and i was told there is no paper work dealer ship will not do anything thay said to bad chrysler said take it up with the dealer no luck stuck like chuck can not do anything with car. I would never of gotten this car if i had known of the damage be careful of what you think is new and undamaged.
Hood paint is bubbling, appears as if rusting under paint
After minimal rain, the driver's side headlight assembly fogged up and accumulated drops of water inside the sealed unit. Took vehicle to dealer, technician said seal around unit is cracked and needed to be replaced. Dealer charges over $500 dollars for replacement. Nighttime visibility is drastically reduced. Repair is not covered under any warranty. This is an issue chrysler knows about but has not issued a recall.
Drive side handle controls counsel poor plastic torn/unglued. As well as head liner from back seats on both sides. Also hood paint raising up from head lights led. On both sides. The paint is raised with visible damage.
Swing arm links have been clanking loudly when going over uneven surface. Every time i had it at two different dealerships they always say they're unable to replicate the problem. Talked to a chrysler service tech and he flat out told me they are notorious for this issue but it gets swept under the rug.
Live in mn. When driving on wet or icy roads the rear end sways back and forth so much you feel like the car will sway so far out of control and cause an accident. The first winter owned the car i started to accelerate down the highway and there was some dry tar but also narrow strips of ice here and there but i could not even get my speed up 30 mph without the back end of the car swaying so hard i had to pull off to the shoulder of the road for fear of causing a wreck. We've been to the dealership with our complaint but no remedy from them. Right now my daughter and her father are driving this car from illinois (dec 2013) and they informed me that the highway is wet and they can't even get up to the speed limit without the back end swaying hard back and forth. I am going to contact the dealership again and see if they can provide resolution. I've read similar stories online and wish the chrysler corporation would recall this vehicle, it is very dangerous.we do not want to own this road hazard any longer. I don't want anyone in my family to drive this car in the rain or snow anymore. I'm terrified this vehicle will cause the death of someone!!
I just bought a used 2011 chrysler 200 and within a weeks time noticed the rear of the vehicle was all over the road every time i hit a bump. It doesn't matter if its a small or large bump either. At first i was not sure what was wrong and i almost took it back to the dealer i bought it from. I climbed under the car and realized on the rear passenger right there was a little fluid leaking from the strut itself so i know that needs to be replaced. I slid over and looked at the drivers side rear which had no fluid leakage. After owning the car a month now, im realizing that both sides are doing it and only the one strut appears to be leaking. The car is to the point of being unsafe to drive because of this issue. I've had cars that needed struts replaced before and never have i felt like the car was unsafe to drive. After doing a little research, i find that this is a known issue for this car and chrysler is aware of it. So why has this issue not been taken care of if its a known issue. I have children that ride in the back seat and i don't even feel safe driving them in the car. I need to get it fixed but its tough to do when you just bought the vehicle and are in need of getting your plates for the car($1700). And to fix this issue i have been told that it will run me $600 and that doesn't even include certain parts if they are horribly bad as well. Like i said, this is more than just a strut issue but when i do get it fixed i will report my complete findings of everything that needs to be replaced in the suspension.
I've been made aware that alot of people are having the same issues with their 200 as i am. My car is unsafe to drive. I haven't had it long, i bought it used. And now my dealership doesn't want to fix it. I am unable to keep control of my car when i hit a bump or any uneven pavement in the road. You can't get above 40mph without almost losing control of the car. I just recently bought a brand new set of tires which my front tires is perfect and my back tires are slick!!! i want this issue resolved so i can get my car fixed. I refuse to pay any money to have someone look at it again. Chrysler is aware of the issues with the 200's but isn't fixing them. This is nothing to fool around with, it can be an issue as to the cost of someones life, then chrysler is going to pay for it, because they are aware of the issues. I like my car and i just want it fixed. I can't even go home to see my family due to the fact of me not being able to drive my car. I have almost wrecked several times and its not worth risking my life. All of the people that has a 200 would really appreciate if this issue will be resolved. Thank you very concerned driver
My car since i purchased (brand new) tends to wear the back tires out and swerves when it hits a bump, rain, or snow. It gets worse when there is a lot of weight in the back. Such as, two people in the back seat and for this reason i tend to be alone in the car because it could become dangerous to take passengers.
Ii'm still waiting for over a year to get my car fixed for an airbag recall
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the rear end swerved out of control while driving at any speed. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on several occasions and the contact was informed that this was a known failure that could not yet be remedied. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 3,000 and the current mileage was 25,040.
When there is over 50 lbs in the back seat or trunk on wet or snowy roads, the rear end of the car will sway back and forth causing loss of control of the vehicle.you will also see uneven wear on the tires with excessive wear on the inner most side of the tread vs. Rest of the tire with typically transporting people or cargo in the rear.chrysler has a star case #s1517000003 on the issue but the case cannot be accessed by vehicle owners and the repair recommended is very expensive (quoted at $1,500) while this is clearly a safety issue.vehicle cannot be driven over 35 mph without the sway causing loss of control on snow packed roads (the rear of the vehicle will suddenly sway one way or the other and requires corrective steering immediately to avoid a spinout).star case #s1517000003 states that there is rear suspension traction loss on snowy/icy road surfaces, and kit fp number 68291120-aa (kit suspe 17023001) is needed to replace rear shocks, springs, upper and lower isolators, remove sway bar links and bushing followed by a 4 wheel alignment while setting front and rear toe to -10.this is a common problem and a safety issue as there are many cases that can be easily found with a quick google search, but rarely is a solution available other than to only drive a chrysler 200 only on dry roads.it is a significant struggle to avoid swerving into oncoming traffic while experiencing this issue.issue only seems to occur on the 2011 model and does not occur while cornering.
The car accelerates and if i hit a bump or anything in the road my car will start to sway back and forth and has actually spun me around in a 360 motion on more than one occasion. The cars rear end bounces excessively on any rough pavement too the point of almost losing control of the vehicle. This happens constantly when driving over 40 mph and then hitting a rough spot or hole in the pavement.
I could be driving on dry or wet pavement and if there is any weight in the back end of the car it sways all over the road as if i'm losing control of the car. Any little bump will launch me almost into the other lane. I see a lot of people are having the same exact problem i am and i would like to know what chrysler is going to do about the situation because someone loses a life over this car.
It was snowing lightly and this car could not establish traction.i've had the tires examined and they have been verified by a tire company and a dealership to be in good condition.they are all-weather tires.the dealership felt the problem in a test drive and they don't know what is causing the sway or "fishtail" effect.this effect occurs when there is any type of precipitation on the roads.i've researched on the web and discovered many, many complaints about this.all of the owners are afraid to drive this vehicle if there is any moisture on the roads and none of them have been able to resolve the swaying.some have tried snow tires, have wheels realigned, replacing various parts.some say that chrysler employees have claimed it is a "known problem" without a fix.please get chrysler to fix this for us.
2011 chrysler 200. Consumer states vehicle makes rattling noise and tires will not stay correctly inflated while driving *tgwthe consumer stated the vehicle wobbled and bounced side-to-side while driving down the highway in areas where there were rough ridges in the road. The consumer was informed the vehicle was designed that way, as the vehicle had a heavy duty sport suspension.also, the sunroof leaked on the driver's side.

The car jumps and jerks all over the road when driving and the road becomes uneven, has bumps or is anything but smooth. I have gone through 2 sets of rear tires due to the tire wearing down on the inside of the tire all the way down to the radial cords.i bought the car from a dealer used. 3 days after purchase date i was driving on a grooved road and the car started swaying and swerving to the point of loosing control and going into the oncoming lane. Luckily there was no traffic or this could have been tragic. At the time i thought i did something wrong. Then a couple days later i was driving 40-45 mph and hit a bump in the road which caused the car to jump and jerk in turn i overcorrected and spun around in the road. This is very unsafe and somebody will be killed if chrysler doesnt correct the problem. I am a woman and have no clue why this is happening. I can say the car is getting more dangerous to drive but i dont hsve s choice i hsve to drive it. Its all i have. Please do a recall
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the vehicle veered out of control. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the control arm bushings had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was not available.
October 2017, january 2018 and april 2018 my chrysler 20 limited v-6 for some unknown reason will cut off while in motion and will only start after sitting for 45 - 60 mins and will leave know evidence of anything happening.
Vehicle engine shuts down at stops such as stop signs, red lights etc. Computer shows no incidents. This has happened over a half a dozen times and is a dangerous situation.
"tamara recall" when i'm driving, whether it's hot outside or rainy, my wiper blades would come on for no apparent reason, and stay on for about a min. When i'm also driving, it sounds like there is water running through my car. Once again, even on sunny days i still hear water. I've taken it to the dealership, and expressed my concerns, but i was told that nothing was wrong. It happens often, so there is no specific date. It's been going on for awhile. I totally disagree !
Lost power - car suddently stopped on i5 la to sacramento on the freeway and happened multiple times driving on the freeway...had to pullover. Car lost power. Thank god nobody hit me. Very scary.
** occasional stalling, when stopped or when driving normal speeds, sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes longer.fuel pump was replaced, problem continued, 2nd fuel pump installed, problem continues.mechanic believes it is the tipm, totally integrated power module.** headlights sometimes turn off while driving when totally dark.not an issue of any ambient triggering headlight to turn off. I had headlights replaced, problem continues.it can only be resolved by turning headlights off, then back on.i suspect tipm controls headlights set to auto, as headlights have a delay turn off when exiting the car.** horn turns on intermittently, when car is on or off.it will have short beeps or stay on for long periods.it may happen every few minutes, or days apart.as part of the alarm system, i suspect this could be another tipm issue.only resolution was to disconnect and drive without horns.other randomly occurring issues that are likely due to tipm: ** smart front passenger window is erratic.the window should drop down 1/4 in when the door handle is pulled and as long as the door is open.when the door is open, the window will usually go back up (it shouldn't) but sometimes it works properly, and sometimes it keeps going up and down continuously, then stop, then start again.**convertible top operation is erratic.it has many interlocks and sometimes it gets stuck 1/2 or 3/4 while opening, sometimes it may or not respond when closing.these problems have happened over the last year or so.
The blend door actuator making noises. Knocking sound. Also the sound is making a squeaky door sound. This sound is above the glove compartment. Passengers are very startled when it makes a noise when car is running or not.
Recall involving (2019) newspaper clipping emmisions catalytic converterswhich was bad abt a yr now.i noticed it getting loud.
The heat is not working put in thermostat had heater core flushed and still no heat they said new heater core over a 1000.00 to fix and they told me my car is not the first to have this problem . It need to be recalled
I pulled up to an aprx. 10 in curb by an establishment (where i had parked many times) and my car jumped and flew up over the curb and landed 6+ feet onto the sidewalk. I sat there stunned as to what happend. This had happen to a lesser degree in the past, but had no idea it was a problem until now. After further investigation i have been told it was unintended excelleration. It is in the body shop now for repair, but i will be afraid to drive it or in good conscious sell it. If a person had been on the sidewalk, this incident could have killed them.
The car cuts off when driving or seating at a red light need help to figure the problem out
We purchased this car from someone else for our 17 year old and we have had in the shop for the same noise 3 times and they can't find out what is wrong with it but there is a clunking noise in front end after car has been driven for at least 30 mins and gotten hot.i am very concerned about this and have read where this is a big complaint among owners of the same make,i don't wont to wake up one morning and something has happened to my child because they cant duplicate the issue!!!!
There is a knocking or clunking noise coming from the front of the car, in or around steering column. I've had lower arm control and sway bar replaced and it did nothing to help the problem. I then had chrysler diagnose it and they told me to replace the inner and outer tie rods, which i did and that did not help. The noise comes after driving the car for about half an hour. It sounds as though something is lose in the steering column. I've researched and came across a recall list found on chrysler.com for the year, make and model of my car for the steering column, an electricalproblem and passenger airbag. The car also falls within the date. But was told that my vin doesn't show but one, the passenger side airbag. Chrysler has not been helpful whatsoever and want money for a problem they can't fix.
While driving on the highway, my car cut off completely. I had to try and maneuver to the side of the highway to get out of traffic. The car did not start back up after 30 minutes. I have had problems for a month where the car does not restart after i go to the store.
Both headrest drivers and passenger sides have now opened by themselves.thank goodness i'm shortor i could of had an concussion. Don't see a recall, but this seems to be an issue with the maker. Would like to get fixed by chrysler at their expense.
Takata recall- windows are not properly defrosting at all
Engine stalled out while driving with no warning and if lucky starts up after about an hour without any indication why.
Vehicle engine dies with no warning or indication that there is a problem.will not restart for 15-30 minutes.just stuck in the middle of the road where it stops.has been inspected by many mechanics.no error code is displayed.have had multiple sensors replaced but problem persists.similar problems in other chrysler models has resulted in a safety recall but not this model.
At random times, the car will just shut off while driving l or turning. Absolutely no power for a little bit. This has happened multiple time. I am unsure if this electrical or something to do with the engine. I have called to see if there was a recall she was told there wasn't. I have seen multiple posts online speaking of this same problem from quite a few people
The antilock brake system keeps coming on and the brakes squeal. I was coming up to a stop sign or red light. Brakes have been changed out. It just keeps happening.
The smell of gasoline is noticed in the interior of the vehicle after starting. The odor increases as the vehicle is driven and warms up. I have to open the windows in an attempt to dissipate the smell since bringing in outside air through the blower seems to make it worse. It has really gotten bad in the last two months.
No heat coming from the vents. Dangerous driving conditions during cold months. Windows fog up and blocks the windshield. I had to pull over and wipe the windshields every day. Especially on my 1 hour drive to work on the interstate. I also had to bundle up when i drive from november until march. Something needs to be donr before someone gets killed or worse , kills someone else. I can only put in 1 date below but it happens every winter.
While driving, the vehicle loses all power. Just shuts down. No warning. No warning lights. No code. No check engine light.
I have a 2011 chrsyler 200 v6 engine that keeps stopping while driving particularly when slowing dow ir coming to a light.th last incident happen on a city street while yielding a stop light. Ir has also occured while trying to park my vehicle. Good thing my two small kids were not with me. It has had work done on it in june 2016 fory cylinders and gaskets and o rings but is still having problems.
My 2011 chrysler 200 v6 has now stalled while driving on three separate occasions. All three times i was going over 40 mph and the car just died with no warning. The car will not re-start right away, but after an hour or two the car will start normally with no indication of a problem. I have also noticed that the engine will randomly rev up and lurch while stooped at red lights, and will feel like it's about to stall but doesn't die totally, but will drive fine once i get moving again.only by pure luck have i not been slammed into by a vehicle behind me when i've stalled. My car has an extended warranty, and each time this happened i took it to the chapman dealership in horsham, pa. However, each time i gave been told that they can't figure out the problem so they can't do anything for me. Basically they're telling me that it's my tough luck, and hopefully our faulty car that you have a warranty on doesn't get you or someone else killed.i recently had a data recorder installed for a three week period by the dealership.no stalling occured, so now chrysler is telling me that the case is closed.no solution has been found, but they'er basically telling me to take my life in my hands with my car because they can't find the problem with the car i spent close to $30,000 for between car and extended warranty.they said to call them if it happens again...well, what if i can't call them because i'm dead or paralyzed.what if i cause an accident when my car dies on the highway and a car or minivan full of kids rams into me or swerves to avoid me.i have googled this problemwith 2011 chrysler 200's and know i'm not the only one experiencing this problem, so i think they are just trying to find a cheap solution on a case by case basis, don't want to go through the cost of a recall.
I have a 2011 200. Oil pressure light came on as i was driving home. Before i got home it stalled as i was turning a corner trying to get pulled over.lost brakes and power steering. After months of working on it i pulled off the oil pan and full of metal shavings. Thebalance shaft module/oil pump had somehow sheared the gears and it lost all oil pressure due to debris.i notice 2012 has a recall for the same exact issue.why don't 2011. Has to be defect, how could debris get in the oil pan n shear the gears? manufacture defect n there should be a recall on these vehicles as well.
Stopped at red light, light turns green, i stepped on the gas & nothing happened.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. While driving approximately 42 mph, the contact stopped the vehicle to make a left turn. While stopped, the vehicle accelerated on its own. The vehicle was able to be driven to the contact's residence. The authorized dealer was notified of the issue. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired, but an appointment for diagnostic testing was scheduled. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vin provided was incorrect. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
The car all of a sudden would not go pass 10mph. I put the gas pedal to the floor and it would not go pass 10mph. The throttle light came on and another light. Then it drove fine, then it didn't.
I stopped at a red light, light went green and i let off the brake and car doesn't move.i pushed the gas and it still doesn't move. Also the engine makes no noise.. Car was still on so i had to put in park and turn car off and restart to get it going. Very dangerous and this is the third time its happened.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. While driving at an unknown speed, heat failed to blow out of the passenger side of the vehicle. In addition, the defroster only defrosted on the driver's side of the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000. The vin was not provided.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the low beam lights were defective. The low beam would not illuminate properly and appeared as a shadow. The contact had to use the high beams to illuminate the roadway. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times where the dealer adjusted the low beam, but the failure was not corrected. The dealer stated that they were unable to correct the failure because it was how the low beam lights were designed. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that they would contact the dealer to explain how to correct the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 3 and the current mileage was 4, 500.
The contact stated that the air conditioner, heater, and defrost failed to produce air without warning. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 62,000.
No heat coming out of passenger side vents and reducedheat coming out of driver side vents. I had the system reverse flushedand replaced with new coolant and did not fix the problem. This problem causes reduced visibility due to ineffective defrosting of windshield and side windows.
They said they will "see what they can do"
A follow up to add on to my initial complaint. I have a screenshot showing how dangerous this issue can become if not resolved. My wipers and horn are a safety concern since they aren't working due to a defective total integrated power module. Please advise before another chrysler owner has the same problem and could possible harm themselves in a crash or others.
While driving home from dinner my husbands heat stopped working on the passenger side of the vehicle. Ohio winters a very cold. Defrost on the drivers side was working bust the passenger side was not. Within minutes of driving the passenger side of the windshield frosted over making it impossible go see. It was unbearable being in the vehicle it was so cold. We have 2 small children and with a wind chill in the negative digits there is risk for frost bite. They are my biggest concern however what would normally be a 35 minute drive turned into over an hour becaise of poor visibility. How is this not a recall yet. Not being able to see is dangerous and being in a freezing car for over an hour is dangerous.

The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. When the contact entered the vehicle and attempted to activate the defroster, the vehicle blew out cold air on the front passenger side. The contact took the vehicle to hendrix jeep chrysler (543 mcphearson church rd, fayetteville, north carolina 28303) where the radiator was flushed, but the issue was not resolved. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown.
Clogged heater core on passenger side vents, all floor vents, and now also affecting driver's side. Defroster does not work properly on either side. Only blowing cold "air conditioning" temperature air. This occurred slowly over time but we noticed it the first time while traveling down the highway at 75mph in sub zero temperatures for 13 hours - the issue has progressed over the 13 hour trip and is completely clogged now. Took to an auto shop once at destination but they cannot flush the system because of the poor heater core design that won't allow for the fluid to flow through the dual system.
The contact stated that the defroster was not operable and hot air blew from the vents. The vehicle was taken to cobleskill chrysler dodge jeep ram (2444 state route 7, cobleskill, ny 12043, (518) 234-4000) where it was diagnosed that the heater core needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 152,000. Consumer stated "hot air blew from the vents" not what she said.f manufacturer is aware of the failure. Consumer calle and stated that i was getting heat on the drivers and not the passenger side. Thus causing the passenger side not able to defrost properly as well as causing visual issue.
Heat on passenger side goes out due to manufacturer coolant. Causes the windshield not to defrost on the passenger side in cold months which makes visibility during driving impossible.
Heater core clogged with gelled coolant, reducing ability to defrost /melt ice from windshield in freezing rain at all speeds.online research shows gelled coolant affects many chrysler cars, causingno heat, esp. On passenger side, no ability to melt ice, clogged coolant system, clogged t-stat (summer 2019) clogged oil intercooler (11/14/19) .this is the second time that cooling system had to be flushed since purchasing car on 8/4/18.suspect specified hoat coolant causing problems in all chrysler vehicles including avenger, charger (per service tech), pickups.

I have a chrysler 200 2011 with 67,000 miles.this winter the passenger side heat no longer works at all, leaving me without defrost as well.this issue is the same whether in idle or driving.i have had the radiator flushed twice, the thermostat replaced, filter replaced, etc.there is still no resolution to the issue and i have been told now that the next step is replacing the heater core and the radiator itself.i have been reading the other complaints about the same issue with chrysler and can't understand how this is not a safety issue and hasn't been recalled yet.is it because even mopar technicians can't figure out the problem? my technician says it seems like he's chasing a ghost.this problem needs fixed and chrysler should be responsible!
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. While operating the vehicle, the passenger side air vents would not blow hot air and the front windshield could not be defrosted. The vehicle was taken to crossroads chrysler (4510 whitehill blvd, prince georges, va) where it was diagnosed that the heater core was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 80,000.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that the defroster failed without warning. In addition, the vehicle would not provide heat or air conditioning properly. When activated, the unit provided the opposite function. The dealer diagnosed that the heating system failed and needed to be replaced with a new heating core. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000.
The contact owns a 2011 chrysler 200. The contact stated that whenever the heater was activated, cold air would circulate throughout the air vents.
Takata recalllow tire pressure issue, vavle stem is causing the air the leak out lowly, causing me to have to refill air twice a week. Multiple tires at the same time.
While accelerating or decelerating to the speeds between 50 and 55 mph, the steering wheel gives a vibration, and stays vibrating until a different speed is reached.before or after the driving speed of 50 and 55 occurs, i do not notice the vibration.
My car since i purchased (brand new) tends to wear the back tires out and swerves when it hits a bump, rain, or snow. It gets worse when there is a lot of weight in the back. Such as, two people in the back seat and for this reason i tend to be alone in the car because it could become dangerous to take passengers.
