I am the owner of a chevy tahoe model year 2000 vin# [xxx] , on11/08/05about 6:30 pm i was driving this vehicle on route 4 nj. My brakes failed and i hit the bumper of the car before me, i had my car towed in to my mechanic and upon inspection he showed me that both brake rotorswhich had the inner ring welded to the outer ring had the weld broken away , so that the inner ring was just spinning inside the outer rotor structure,he explained to me that i should buy a rotor which is one piece therefore the inner print cant ever break away from the outer, my issue with gm is why do they have total disregard for the safety of the people and would use a composite rotor putting people in jeopardy with total disregard of human life, when i paid about $ 34,000for my suv and they try to save 10-20 dollars, i have in my possession the separated rotors ( if needed for inspection)to sum it up it is a dire danger to drive around with composite rotors, gm should be responsible for my loss and for the future losses of file and property due to this inferior material, please do something about this, beforesome people get killed.
