Temp gauge reading hot, decided 95 s in new york city wasn't an ideal place to stop and traffic was very bad had to drive in breakdown lane to get to nearest exit (approx 1.5 miles) pulled over in a water works lot with my 4 yr olds and wife at 11:30 pm, on way to ohio from rhode island. Called aaa took to garage, several hours later, us to a hotel that wasn't booked. Next garage replaced the temp switch and thermostat. Seemed ok. Continued to ohio. While in ohio temp gauge was reading hot again. Took to dealer and said that the gauge cluster was faulty but did not have the part to replace. Came home , temp gauge has been reading fine if i turn the key on and off to "reset" the gauge back to "zero" still not sure that it is reading correctly at that point. $500.00 to have replaced. Most car forums people have been complaining of this issue and some other cooling issues that very well may be related to this problem. Safety of my family is very important and having a van that "overheats"is a problem due the fact that if we ignore the gauge it very well may overheat and my family may be on the side of the road not being able to get to a safe place. We were fortunate that aaa was able to help us alot and that i was able to get to a safe place that wasn't the bronx (which was the next exit) or worse. This problem including the stay was $1300.00and not to mention being in a strange dark place for nearly 3 hrs. I still have no confidence the new cluster is working the way it is supposed to.

I have a 2005 chevy venture. There's a bar that attaches my automatic sliding door to the van and makes the door open and close. When the door is closing, it causes a triangular gap between the door, van and bar. The automatic doorhas a sensor that if someone is in between the door and van, it will stop and open the door up. There is a piece of plastic on the floor where the carpet stops and before the metal side of the van begins. My cousin's daughter was sitting in the seat behind the drivers seat. I buckled in my kids & was standing next to the open driver's side sliding van door talking to my cousin. Her daughter was sitting in the seat behind the drivers seat. The button that closes the automatic sliding door was bumped. The door started closing, her foot slipped off that plastic piece on the floor and into the triangular gap. The sensors never picked up that something was in the door since it was not actually in front of the door and never stopped closing. Thankfully i was standing close enough that when she screamed, i reached in and grabbed her foot. She had on boots & jeans and still had a mark and bruise on her shin. We stuck a shoe into this gap and closed the door on it to see if the sensor would see it. It tore the shoe and never stopped closing. I told chevy about the problem and that i wanted my van fixed so no one else gets injured.they said there is no fix & to shut off the automatic feature to avoid this. One problem-when you shut off this feature, you have to tug harder to shut the door.if a kid's foot goes into the gap while i'm shutting the door manually, i won't be able to stop the forward motion in time to not cause injury.chevy said there is nothing i can do unless enough people complain & then they will look into a fix. I am very worried about this with my children. I want my van fixed or a van comparable one that does not have this problem. I also feel that my cousin should also be compensated in some way.

My wife hit a old style van that had stopped for a dog crossing a the road. The whole front end had to be replaced. Hood, grill, lights, both fender had to be repaired, also the steal tube under theradiator frame had to be cut out and replaced.on 11/5/2010 i hit a deer going 30 mph, again front end damage.both times the air bags didn't deploy, and on star didn't respond.i asked two different chevrolet dealers if the air bag sensor could be tested, answer was no.

The van fills with fuel fumes.the fumes can be smelled inside and outside the vehicle.gm has recalled chevy venture 2001-2004 for specific vin#'s but no 2005's and my specific vin# is not included.i have talked with gm but their response is just your vin# is not included. You can go to the dealership and pay for it to get fixed.this is a specific fire hazard according to their reports.i have had to park my vehicle for safety reasons.i can not allow my children to be subjected to the fuel fumes or the potential of a fire. I am not in a position at this time to pay for the work or trade due to the economy.if gm knows that have this problem then why would they let a potential hazard to loyal customers continue. Regardless of the vin# if the problem is present then gm should be responsible.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet venture.while driving at an unknown speed, the contact smelled fuel within the cabin of the vehicle.the dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the fuel odor.the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified.the failure mileage was 85,000.

I have a 2005 chevrolet venture mini van that has developed a fuel leak around the area where the filler tube connects to the fuel tank. Having researched this, it is apparent that this has been a problem for these vehicles as early as 2003. This the third time this has happened on my van. I have attempted to repair it twice, using an epoxy sealer, but the leak redevelops after a few days. I might have to replace the fuel tank and filler tube, if i can find one that i can afford. Gm says that this is not defect and will not issue a recall, but it seems that just the idea of fire hazard would be enough reason for gm to fix the problem. I do not see how gm can not say that this is not a defect in the design, since this has occurred a number of time. It's a plastic side mounted tank with no protection surrounding it and a filler tube that joins it in a very vulnerable area.

With over a quarter of tank of gas the automobile was parked on a decline. The front of the automobile was lower than the rear of the automobile. After getting back into the automobile after being away for about an hour and a half, the automobile would not start. The low fuel light was on and at that decline the automobile could not use the quarter of tank of gas available. I had to walk over a mile to get another two gallons and put it into the automobile which then allowed it to start. This is unacceptable behavior for an automobile with that much gas in the tank.

Dt:the consumer is a canadian resident.when the consumer exited the vehicle, he smelled gasoline.the consumer had the engine turned off and inspected underneath the vehicle and discoveredfuel was pouring from the gas connection pipe that goes into the tank.the sealant was plastic as well as the tank. The consumer immediately drove to a local gmc dealer about two to three kilometers away and spoke to a mechanic there regarding the matter.the mechanic inspected the leak and noted this was a common problem and the sealant connector had broken or cracked allowing a fuel leak. There was no guard whatsoever around this connector piece.the vehicle originally had a full tank and at this time it was half full when the consumer arrived at the gmc dealership.the consumer was concerned about a potential ignition source for the leak.the dealership has ordered a new gas tank for which the consumer has to pay for because gm notes this was something other than a safety defect.the consumer is concerned the same plastic fittings are going to be replaced on the vehicle.the failure mileage was 37,000 kilometers, current kilometers is 37,000 as well.the vehicle was purchased new.

We have been smelling gasoline fumes in and outside our van.sometimes it is very potent and other times faint.when we walk into our garage, we can smell it also.it occurs often when making a left-hand turn.when we inspect it, we can't find any leak.we smell this from a half tank to empty.

On friday, november 12 2004, i entered the middle row of my son-in-law?s new 2005 chevrolet venture. This vehicle is equipped with an automatic sliding rear side door. After i sat down and closed the door, it seemed to not close completely. I proceeded to open and close the door again. As the door started to open, i tried closing it with the door handle. However, it continued to open fully. By the time i realized that the door was not going to stop, despite my closing pressure on the door handle, my arm had moved backwards and became lodged against the back of my seat. I was unable to release my hand from the door handle, and as the door opened further, it fractured both bones in my arm.

Chevy venture: power sliding door (driver side) does not close and latch correctly.

Rear passenger automatic side door does not close, pops open when its suppose to latch shut. A child safety seat is beside the automatic door. Door opened while my 9 year old son was sitting beside door and the vehicle was in motion. Luckily i was only going about 15 miles and hour in a residential zone.door was taken in to dealership for inspection, because vehicle is no longer under warranty, no step were taken to repair door due to financial restraints.
