While driving through an intersection, another vehicle turned into my path.even though i slammed on the brakes my vehicle struck the other vehicle head on.the air bags did not deploy.my vehicle was totaled due to front end damage.

The contact owned a 2004 chevrolet venture. While the contact's vehicle was at a complete stop, it was rear ended by another vehicle traveling approximately 50 mph. None of the air bags deployed. The contact was pregnant and had to be transported to the hospital via ambulance. A police report was filed. The driver of the other vehicle was intoxicated. There were two passengers who also had to be hospitalized and transported via ambulance. The vehicle was totaled and towed to a junk yard. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The cause of the failure was not determined. The failure mileage was 270,000.

I was avoiding a head on collision with another vehicle that had swerved into my lane of traffic.my vehicle went to the right down into a ditch proceeded into a culvert and embankment, over a residence driveway and head on into a utility pole.the impact with the utility pole was just to the side of dead center in the front.the driver and passenger air bags did not deploy.the van has been claimed as a total lost by insurance.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture. The contact was driving 45 mph and noticed that the speedometer was inoperable. Upon further inspection, the contact stated the fuel and temperature gauge were also inoperable. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed as having an instrument cluster panel failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 130000.

We bought the van used from a dealership about a year ago.the van was fine at first but a couple of months after we bought the van the fuel gauge fluctuated. The fuel gauge was at half, it went to empty then full and back to half, all in one motion. I thought it was odd but never had a fuel gauge do that to me before. After that the fuel gauge would fluctuate periodically but would always go back to were it was before it fluctuated. We figured as long as it went back to were it was before it fluctuated then we would just deal with it. Boy, were we stupid for thinking that it wasn't going to get worse. It eventually got worse and now it reads full(but its not) and just out of nowhere goes to empty and the fuel light comes on. Just last week the fuel gauge read empty, we put $50 worth of fuel in the van. The gauge read full, we did some running around town(we live in a small town) so we couldn't have used much fuel. We went home and was going to leave again a few hours later and when we started the van and got down the road, the fuel gauge went to empty immediately. Its frustrating that the fuel gauge doesn't display correctly. My wife usually drives the van and i don't want her to run out of gas and get stranded somewhere. I've been reading a lot about this problem on the internet and i was just wondering how many people does it have to affect to warrant a recall by gm? does someone have to get hurt or killed before something gets done? have always bought gm vehicles(never had any issues) but it doesn't make any sense if gm knew about the problem and decided to do nothing. Now were stuck paying 3 more years on a van that doesn't operate properly. We don't have the money to trade it in for something else and don't have the money to get it fixed. Very frustrating!

Consumer feels that problems developed with the 2004 chevrolet venture should be covered under warranty.*mrthe consumer received a recall letter on about july 1, 2005.the consumer contacted the chevrolet assistance center who informed him that the repairs should be covered under warranty.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the service manager refused to perform the repairs under warranty.keyless entry system, no flashing light and inoperative horn were the problem the consumer complained of.unsure which of these components was recalled.

We have a 2004 venture. The speedometer started being erratic for a time, followed by the temperature gauge, and the gas gauge.now none of them work. The speedometer is stuck on 45 mph, the gas is over full (straight down) but sometimes moves around at the bottom, but it generally has nothing to do with whether or not i have put gas into the van. The temperature gauge points down and to the left. None of the cluster has worked in over 2 years. I don't understand why this has not been recalled considering the amount of people that i have heard had the same issue.

Gas gauge and temperature gauge do not register at all on my 2004 chevy venture. Had fuel pump replaced as i thought that was initial problem, but then i was told i had an instrument cluster problem.

All 3 of my gauges are intermittently malfunctioning, starting with the temperature gauge and progressing to the fuel gauge and finally the speedometer.they give erroneous readings and often don't reset to zero when turning off the key.

I have a 2004 chevy venture van and my temp gauge and gas gauge are not working correctly, never know how much gas i really have and don't know if my van is over heating, the gauge is pointing down and won't reset to cold position. I went on line to research and found many people with the same type van with same problem with the cluster panel,i feel this should be investigated for a recall since there are so many case, and it is quite expensive to repair.

My wife took her chevrolet van in for service due to the interior light not functioning it was taken to mahoney chevrolet and blossom chevrolet. They told her it was corrosion causing the problem and did nothing to repair the problem as they said it was not covered. I being a certified mechanic and having an associates degree in electronics trouble shot the problem and found the body control module to be the cause of the problem. The module also caused the power windows, door locks, remotes and all other interior things to fail. I feel this is a very serious safety issue as there are millions of these vans on the road and these modules failon this and all other models of this van such as the pontiac etc... In a panic situation such as an accident the driver would have to manually operate the locks or smash out a window if they were able to do so if there were a fire and it was urgent to get out of the van many may panic and not be able to get out. I contacted gm over this issue and they appeared to agree with me and gave me a service # of 71-1331263820. I have sent them numerous e-mails and phone calls but have gotten no response. I feel this is the same old gm and they wont repair an obvious defect unless ordered to or if there are deaths from the problem. I am hoping contacting you will force them to do the right thing and repair this problem before someone does die because they cant get out of their van or the module catches fire from an overheated chip that controls this module. Thank you and i hope to hear from you soon

The speedometer started acting sporadic not registering speed accurately then stopped working all together also the gas gauge does not register at all since the problem began .the low fuel light does operate as of right now.i have read that alot of venture owners have this problem it is avery expensive repair 500 just for the parts.

Chevrolet ventures seem to have an electrical problem affecting the right side (from the driver's perspective).i've noticed a lot with the driving lights out on that side, after i started having problems with my own.i've replaced the bulb in the front as well as in the back multiple times.within a month or so, the bulbs are blown out again.the right side blinkers don't work in the front or the back after a month or so after they're replaced.recently, i turned on the brights and the lights went out all together.we've had this van for 4 years and this has been an ongoing issue.

Dash displays inaccurate or not working gauges. Temperature and speedometer often doesn't work at all or shows 120mph when driving at approx 55mph!temp will often show hot when car is at normal temp.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that the abs light continuously illuminated and the power windows failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000.

The temp gauge in my 2004 chevy venture shows to be hot all the time, although my mechanic says the vehicle is not overheating.now the check brake fluid light is on and my mechanic says the brakes and brake fluid are fine.both problems are being attributed to a possible instrument panel defecy.

The day after thanksgiving i got in my van and drove to peoria which is about 20 from the city i live in.i went shopping for a few hours and when i came back out i turned my van on and it would not heat up.i noticed the temperature gauge was past halfway heading towards hot.i sat there for about 20 minutes with everything turned off.i turned the van on again and it seems that the temperature unit was stuck and had come unstuck.i was able to drive home.two weeks later i was driving home from work and noticed that the temperature gauge was almost to hot.i pulled over and could not get it to go down.in the end i had to have it towed and worked on.i had the temperature sensor changed, the water filter and the thermometer.i got in my van last night to find out that the temperature sensor is still reading beyond hot.i drove it not even a mile and it was saying the van was extremely hot.i have 3 little children and i'm also a single mom.what is going on with the temperature gauge?has there been a recall on this?i'm still driving my van since i have to work and have no other options.i would like to know if my van is actually over heating or not. Help!

The instrument cluster gauges went out and my abs light stays on and i'm in motion

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture.while driving approximately 60 mph on normal road conditions, the speedometer and temperature gauges displayed inaccurate readings regardless of the speed being traveled.the failures occurred without warning.an independent mechanic stated that the cause of the failure was related to the instrument panel cluster, which required replacement.the vehicle has not been repaired.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 75,000 and current mileage was 80,000.

The recent gm recall of 2004 - 2007 cobalt and other vehicles for ignition switch problems now makes my issues in my 2004 chevrolet venture van potentially make some sense.there have been multiple occurrences of the problem over the years but it sounds similar tothe above recall.some of the incidents occurred on the highway (70 mph), some happened on the dirt roads we live on (25 - 35 mph).the engine simply stopped - no power of any kind.the engine could be restarted by shifting into neutral and turning the key.it did not require a complete vehicle stoppage (although it did occasionally cause a nasty squeal from what i assumed was the starter motor).the car was purchased used from a dealer so i do not know if the issue occurred during the first year of so of the vehicles use.i think the gm investigation needs to be expanded to other models.vin can be provided if needed.

2004 chevy venture -gas gauge jumps wildly , gives inaccurate readings.doesn't seem associated with the fuel pump sending unit. Appears to be electrically shorting, as when it park it will bounce up and down and it just seems as some sort of current problem.. Started 1 year ago. To know the fuel level, we track the mileage manually.

2004 chevrolet venture temperature gauge suddenly reads hot.the gauge will not reset.the engine is not hot or running hot.no history of front damage.van was purchased new and i am the only owner. Problem just started 2 weeks ago during a 5 hour trip. 96,479 miles.will also complain about water in the head lights. Started around 45k.have burnt out several bulbs.poor design, but will known problem for gm.*ln

Dt: contact stated on 10-15-05 while drivingthe contactapproached a stop sign ,pressed down on the brake pedal andthe vehicle had no brakes. The vehicle was towed to a dealership, where they replaced the master cylinder and the electrical system. The vehicle had no problems until 11-05-05 while pulling into a driveway she applied the brakes, and thebrakes were not working. She had the vehicle towed to a different dealership, where they replaced the brake lines. On 11-12-05 she took the vehicle to another dealership to have it inspected, andthe dealership told her the brake lines were hanging and there was no conduit on the brake lines .the dealership made the repairs .the vehicle is still under warranty.

Last summer i noticed my temperature gage was going over to the hot mark while i was driving along. I pay close attention to my gauges at all times,i have 3 daughters with me at all times. I pulled over at a rest area and let it sit a while. 45 minutes later it was still on the hot as soon as i turned the key. My husband took it to our mechanic and he said the air conditioning coil may be clogged and he repaired it. Was ok for a few days and then it was right back to hot. I had the temp. Gauge sensor replaced in dec.09 and that hasn't helped.my engine is not hot but my fear is,with my daughters in the car and not knowing if or whenit really is getting hot. It stays on hot even if thereis no air or heat on and it can sit in my drive for 2 days and when i start it,it goes straight to hot,and past the red part.

I own a 2004 chevrolet venture ls.recently the speedometer began malfunctioning.the needle on the speedometer will jump, not return to zero when stopped, or will stay stuck at a previous speed.the speedometer is currently not working at all.i have purchased a leading repair manual and followed the troubleshooting guide which lead me to replace the vss (vehicle speed sensor).this did not fix the problem.after hours of research and speaking to several mechanics, i have found that this is a rather common defect in the actual gauge cluster.also, i have found that there is a rather large number of venture owners that have this same issue.because the anti-theft system runs through the speedometer, a new gauge cluster must be re-programmed by the dealer making it almost impossible to fix the problem myself at a reasonable price. I feel that because this is a very common problem with the chevrolet venture that gm should recall the defective gauges and fix the problem.furthermore, i believe that this is a potential safety issue because the driver has no way of monitoring their speed in normal or hazardous driving conditions.also, based on my research i have found that the speedometer is the beginning of more problems related to the other gauges such as the fuel gauge and temperature gauge.the cruise control system could be affected also because it uses information from the vss and the speedometer reading.an improper reading on the speedometer could cause a malfunction in the cruise control system resulting in an accident.i use this vehicle daily to transport my children to and from school and other family activities so safety is extremely important. Certainly i am relying on the advise and expertise of ase certified mechanics, my local chevrolet dealer, and other disappointed chevy owners.i would like chevrolet and gm to take a look at this issue, and if necessary, correct the problem. Thank you for you time and attention in this matter.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture. The contact stated there was a delayed response when staring the vehicle. The vehicle would also surge forward during the ignition malfunction. The failure recurred intermittently. The failure was not diagnosed by the dealer nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 156,000.updated05/28/14 ma

February 2009 - beginning of instrument cluster panel failure - gas gauge not functioning. Have documentation at mileage 72,512. Consequence - forced to fill up at every gas purchase and track mileage until time for next fill up for over two years. Never knew for certain how much gas was in the tank - very stressful.november 2010 - continuing cluster panel failure - speedometer malfunctioning until completely out by january 2011. Consequence - unable to tell speed - unwilling to drive the vehicle long distances and full concentration required to judge speeds by other traffic.taken in march 2011 to local dealer, [xxx], for replacement of cluster panel at my expense of over $550.00 - before i agreed to pay for the repair they assured me that they would flag the old panel for diagnosis into the reason gauges failed as they would be sending it to gm to be rebuilt and resold. They would not give the old one to me unless i paid them for it. The report that i was consequently given of the cause for gauge failures was that the speedometer was stuck at 100 mph and gas gauge was stuck on empty. I wrote a letter to gm executive and was advised that they would be reimbursing me for no part of the repair cost. I was also told that they had no way of tracking my old panel as i was told by the dealer.i had done extensive research into defective stepper motors and class action lawsuits resulting in partial recalls and knew that they were performing a cover up of other models that were effected. That is why they were not cooperative in determining the cause of my gauge failures.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture.while driving approximately 35 mph, the passenger side door slid open without warning.the contact's child was seated next to the door at the time of the failure.she pulled over to the side of the road to shut the door, but it would not close.an hour later, the door was able to close.the dealer was notified and stated that the sensor board needed to be cleaned.the repairs were not performed on the vehicle.the manufacturer was notified and stated that there were no recalls relating to her vehicle.the current mileage was 160,000 and failure mileage was 155,000.

While driving and turning vehicle stalled.driver restarted the vehicle, and took it to the dealer for inspection.however, mechanic could not duplicate the problem.

Cigarette lighter shorted with the phone charger plugged in. The fuse did not blow, which caused an electrical fire which totaled the van.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture.the contact stated that the instrument cluster works randomly.the speedometer is not registering the correct speed and the dial becomes stuck at extremely low or high speeds.on occasion, the speedometer will work temporarily if the engine is turned off and restarted.the temperature gauge also works at random and does not indicate the correct temperature in the vehicle.the dealer stated that the instrument cluster was the cause of the failure.other chevrolet models have been recalled, but not the venture.the instrument cluster has not been repaired.the contact believes the failure is due to a manufacturer defect and that they should be responsible for the repair.the current and failure mileages were 60,000.

We currently own a 2004 chevrolet venture.the van has 58,000 miles at this time.the speedometer started jumping quickly on acceleration and deacceleration.from this it went to reading incorrectly and now has fallen down and will not read at all.we have not done anything to correct the problem at this time.however we were informed by a dealership that this was a problem on some of the chevrolet trucks.we were told to wait and it might be placed on a recall list.

The speedometer failed on the instrument cluster.previously the fuel and temperature gauges have failed.chevy does not seem to believe this to be the result of defective parts but that is attributed to operating the vehicle past 100,000 miles. The repair is estimated at $500 and is not guaranteed. I have noticed numerous complaints of instrument cluster failure but i have not seen if any action has been taken by chevrolet.

The date when this first appeared is unknown.i believe it has been an issue for about 2 years. I have owned the van for 7 years.the speedometer cluster quit working. This is a very common occurrence according to others who own similar vehicles. I cannot tell how fast i am going, how hot my engine is running, or when i will run out of gas.

Cluster gauge not working properly.first while my husband was driving it looked as if the temp. Gauge was showing it was over heating.further evaluation showed the cluster gauge was malfunctioning.a few months later while waiting for a replacement the speedometer has also began to either stop working or jumps around as if it is also malfunctioning.

2004 chevrolet venture. Temperature gauge stopped working, was giving erratic readings, the needle dropped to the bottom of the guage. The needle now operates in reverse, like a mirror image if it was working properly.about a month later, the speedometer gauge stopped working, the needle dropped to the bottom right and stayed there.currently speed and temp. Gauge not working.fuel gauge is still operational.

The temperature gauge sticks once in a while. I was told that it's something in the gauges and to replace the entire thing which was quoted at $500 installed...nope i will live with it i guess.

2004 chevy venture.fuel and temp gauges showing false readings. During a long cross country drive speedo started giving false readings making it hard to drive in traffic.gauge bounces or sticks in one position or shows incorrect speeds.

2004 chevrolet, venture, 65000 miles, the coolant temperature gauge started to function erratically, then it just goes up even passed the red markings on the indicator.i have replaced the coolant temperature sending unit(sensor), the thermostat, checked all the grounding to the pcm but everything it's good. Still the temperature gauge just resets when i open and close the ignition lock. I will be taking this to the local dealership for a diagnostic on the pcm.

The contact replaced the brake lights four times, and has had four different mechanicschecking at the vehicle, and theyadvisedthe contact of the same problem.

Vehicle stalled intermittentlywhile driving at any speed.dealer inspected the vehicle on three separate occasions, and informed the consumer that they were unable to duplicate the problem.

Dtconsumer stated that her vehicle stalled while driving four times.the vehicle has been taken to the service dealer.the dealer informed the consumer that they were unable to find anything wrong with the vehicle.

When coming to a stop or slowing down vehicle shut off.consumer tookvehicleto dealerfor service.however, the problem could not be duplicated.

The van would stall out when ever it wanted to. Only had the van for a year, and has been to dealer four times, and can't duplicate. They replaced ignition switch andfuel pump. Still stalls. Felt unsafe, and took back to dealer, refused to drive it. Lemon.

My husband and i purchased a 2004 chevy venture on october 24,2004.it had less than 6,000 miles on it.on september 27,2006, while my husband wasdriving down the interstate, the van began to serge/ stall.he pulled to the side of the interstate and got out of the van.he noticed smoke coming from the hood and figured that it may have just overheated( no warning lights came on ).he pulled up on the hood and flames shot out at him.he dropped the hood down and within minutes the van was completely inflamed.911 was called to the scene as well as law enforcement.with the exception of singed hair and minor facial burns my husband is ok.the fire inspector told my husband that the fire apparently started on the passenger side of the motor.most of the time my 3 children traveled in this van. They would have never been able to escape thisfire. The van only had around 40,000 miles on it .i am writing this with the hope that people pay close attention to surging or stalling ventures.i'm not sure what caused my van to catch on fire.hopefully the insurance company will soon know, but i wanted to make gm aware of a potentially life threatening problem.

2004 venture began overheating a month ago.dealership said it was the radiator.had that changed out.still overheated, next the temp gauge, then the thermostat, water pump. Still overheating.it has now spent 2 days at the dealership and again they have tried other options.when they took it for a test drive this afternoon it overheated and they had to have it towed. I began searching the internet andi am finding numerous complaints like mine for the chevy venture.some of the people have been having trouble for 2 years. I have already pulled out $1,300 on this problem!this seems to be a wide spread problem and needs to be addressed. Please help.

Engine began to overheat....coolant was way down, overheating continued when coolant added...vehicle was taken to repair shop.*la

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture. The contact stated the vehicle would not start and when it did start the vehicle began to shake and fuel fumes were coming from the engine. The service engine light continued to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where they replaced the pressure regulator in the front of the engine. Although they repaired the vehicle, it continued to shake and fumes were coming through the air conditioner vents. The vehicle will be taken to another dealer to repaired again. The manufacturer stated there were no recalls and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 112,888. Updated 09/19/11the consumer stated there was a burning odor coming from the ventilation system.updated 11/02/11

I purchased a chevrolet venture 2004 brand new in october.next year in mid may the air conditioner work good but that only last it a month or less.now i bought this van for my business in transportation. I can not have my passengers in the vehicle being so hot. Since then until now its been in and out of the shop and still the air conditioner is not working.the problem is that hot air comes out and the van does not overheat.the weird part is that the when the temperature rising the air comes out a little more cooler but not like its supposed to.its hard for me to being taking the van in all the time.this is my van that i have the wheelchair installed in for my passengers. I bought it new with the confidence that it will be in good condition and comfortable my self and my passenger.this van is used for business, so its hard to take it to the shop and still coming out the same. The van has been recharged, the filters have been cleaned and changed, the air duct/door has been inspected.every thing that is need to be inspected and changed has been performed.

During annual vehicle safety inspection mechanic determined that headlights where not bright enough for inspection rules.headlights filling with moisturebehind clear plastic lenses of both headlights.chrome reflective material on reflector oxidizing in back of headlight.two headlights had to be replaced for vehicle to pass safety inspection.

Lights in front keep shorting out(turn signal and night). Assembly fell apart (both front). Rear lighting assembly insides burned up 3 of the 6 connectors.have replaced lights, fuses, etc at least once a month for the last year for the front lights.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture. While driving 35 mph, the brake lights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 220,000.

Water enters the headlights.condensation covers the inside of the headlight lenses and reduces light output.

Headlights are dangerously dim at night. New bulbs, new headlight lenses, no solution.same problem with my 1999 chevy venture.

I have been stopped & warned by others constantly since i have owned the vehicle about having no brake lights, except for thethird brake light, above the rear glass.i replaced two bulbs 3057 in the tail eights at least every 3 weeks.the bulbs looked fine.i have to remove, sometimes replace, sometimes just reset the bulbs.been to the dealership countless times ,to no avail!very frustrating & dangerous.will cause cruise control to fail - generally the first warning i have to alert me of the tail light failure.just waiting to be rear ended!

Headlight assemblies on my 2004 chevy venture van filled with water reducing the light coming from the assemblies at night.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture. The contact stated when it would rain, water would enter the head light and directional turn signal lights. The bulbs were continuously burning out due to condensation from the water. The front right directional bulb caused the socket and wires to overheat. The dealer stated the failure was common and recommended drilling a small hole in the bottom of the headlight assembly to allow the water to flow out. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 63,000 and the current mileage was 66,143.

Gas gauge does not accurately reflect fuel. It jumps wildly at times from full to empty and back to full. It often shows 3/4 of a tank when it is actually near empty. I had to begin tracking my mileage to ensure i do not run out of gas. Gas light goes on and off but usually coincides with an empty reading. And this is not covered under any warranty. When this started happening i ran out of gas with 2 small children in the car in winter due to gauge said 1/2 tank...

Gas gauge reads empty when full or half full.

The speedometer started acting sporadic not registering speed accurately then stopped working all together also the gas gauge does not register at all since the problem began .the low fuel light does operate as of right now.i have read that alot of venture owners have this problem it is avery expensive repair 500 just for the parts.

Where the rubber gas tank fill hose attaches to the gas tank, at the check valve, it has fractured and broken off the gas tank so that now when attempting to add fuel to the vehicle it leak out all over the exterior of the tank.

Our mechanic found that the fuel tank was leaking and that there is a recall for that part.we took it to the dealer and the dealer stated that there is no recall for our van.the dealer was.the nhtsa action number is ea 07006.we called gm and left two messages for a representative named.please require the dealer to honor the recall.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

I have had 2 venture vans they both had the same problems. The windshield wipers are stuck up,they work just when you turn them off they stay up. Also the gas light does not work. It stays on full then out of no were you are on empty. You never know how much gas you. I had a 2001 chevy venture and now i have a 2004 chevyventure van i really think there is a problem.

2004 chevy venture -gas gauge jumps wildly , gives inaccurate readings.doesn't seem associated with the fuel pump sending unit. The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that while entering the vehicle, there was a strong gasoline fuel smell being emitted from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was confirmed that the fuel tank failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the issue and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 07e021000 (fuel system, other:storage:tank assembly:pressure relief devices). The failure mileage was 79,000 and the current mileage was unavailable. Updated 12/11/12the consumer stated the fuel tank intake seal failed.this caused gas to no longer be safely contained and toxic fumes are being released. Updated 12/17/2012

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture. After the vehicle was fueled, there was a strong odor of fuel coming from the vehicle. The contact observed a puddle of fuel under the rear driver side of the vehicle. The failure recurred continuously. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v349000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.

I cannot fill the gas tank unless gas spills out of the defective connection that goes to the fuel tank via the hose that is connected from the fuel injection system unto the gas tank. I had to have it repaired by a mechanic that has dealt with this type of vehicle in the past and he told me that this is and has been a manufactured from the beginning concerning this particular mini van (chevy venture). As long as the tank is half full there's no leaks, however i can still smell a mild scent of fumes from the defect of the vehicle's fuel system.

Transmission slips and jerks when driving ,gassometimes spups.

Fuel gauge wouldn't measure, and the car when stopped, quit... The fuel gauge had been intermittently not measuring gas correctly, (i even filled a complaints with 2 gas stations thinking it was their gas pump that was wrong.) this was an ongoing problem over a long period of time.then the car had to be towed to my residence... I live in a desert and it's very hot, the towing company suggested the fuel pump went along with the fuel pressure gauge.so i had to have them replaced....i have never had this kind of problem with other makes of cars.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that there was a fuel odor present coming from the vehicle. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 07v349000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the vent tube at top of fuel tank was corroded and that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 43,000.

Dt: the passenger sliding door that goes to side of the van needed a sensor because once the door starts sliding, it won't stop. Consumer'schild got her whole body caught in it.

The right side rear door is equippedwith an automatic power door button to open and close the door. Right side rear doorclosed automatically without pushing the button, causing the passenger to have a handcaught between the door, resulting in injury. Consumer contacted the manufacturer.

My 2 year old son was exiting the vehicle and hit the button to close the door and he did not know it. I had to jump in the way of the power sliding door, and use excessive force to stop the door from closing on him andmyself.the power sliding doors on our 2004 chevy venture do not stop without excessive force when closing. A child or even an adult can get seriously injured.

While consumer's hand was placed on the inside of vehicle automatic power sliding door closed, jamming consumer's hand. This was a rental car.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture.the right passenger side door opened intermittently.also, this failureoccurred while driving 25 mph.the doorwas closed manually and the failure continued to occur, and has occurred while the vehicle was parked.there was atechnical service bulletin that included a check list.several dealers have cleaned the contacts on the door which didn't correct the failure.the dealermaintainedthatthe actuated control modules could be the cause.however, they were unable to duplicate the problem. The failure mileage was 13000,and the current mileage was 32239.

- while drivingthe2004 chevrolet ventura at 10 mph out of the driveway the contact 's vehicle accelerated and the passenger's side sliding door opened.in the second incident, the passenger's side sliding door was opened when she drove out of adepartment store parking lot.

Passenger side motor door opens on it's own after closing, opens halfway and closes halfway leaving the operator to manually open or close the door.it has become a safety issue because on that same side is the child restraint seat for a toddler or the car can be stolen or property inside the car when the door closes and reopens on it's own.

Power door close even when someone is in between door and fram and open with out much effort by the handle on door. I called gm customer service line about mycomplaint and was told there wasn't a recall. I told them about the recall at first they said there wasn't a recall on the venture vans again. After about a few days of being toldt that the recall didn't exist. I called nhtsa and your customer service gave me the campaign information which i gave to gm customer service. I was told that i would have to take my van to be check by the gm service people. I'm in the process of doin consider i have to get the hub bearing and the sender switch on my van fixed first. Mind you i haven't had this van a year yet!i will have to pay for gm to check, eventhough i have the passenger side power door and the second row bucket seating and my van was to had a 101 point inspection check and certified.

On july 8-15, 2004 i rented a 2004 chevrolet venture from hertz rental at the san diego airport.we loaded 4 small children, ages 1-5 years old into the van.as we were strapping all of them into their car seats, my 3 year old pushed a button that was just inside the automatic sliding door, on the passenger side of the vehicle.this button was to open and close the automatic door, and the door began to close with my son standing at the part of the sliding door that latches (the forward most part of the door).as the door hit his body and did not stop, one of the adults inside of the van pulled him into the van and to safety.the door was not going to stop andwould have injured him.a day later, my brother was strapping my son into his car seat and someone accidently pushed the auto door close that was on the key chain.again, the door began to close and did not stop for my brother (who is a 6 foot 3 inch man), and he had to jump out of the way.we were very concerned for the safety of our children and were very careful the remainder of our week long rental.however, we are very concerned that another child, or adult, is going to be injured in this van's automatic sliding door.we were curious just how far the door would go before it would bounce back open so we put a stuffed animal in the door and hit the auto door close button.i have to say, the stuffed animal did not fare well.we also put a large carrot and a banana in the door, in an attempt to simulate a small child's arm.the carrot was sliced right in half, and the banana was smashed and oozing out of its peel.i will never purchase a chevrolet venture after our experience with the van, but i do feel very strongly that the automatic door needs to be changed so that it senses when something is in it's way and bounces back open, otherwise children's safety, as well as adult's safety, is at stake.i do haveseveral videos demonstrating how the door does not bounce back.

Thedriver's door opened and closed on its own while the vehicle was in motion. Two different dealers inspected the vehicle and could not duplicate or correct the problem.

2004 chevrolet venture van power sliding door customer states that the power of the door almost crushed her sons arm**ccthe consumer stated that the power sliding door to her vehicle the pressure at which the door closes is ridiculous. The consumer stated her child nor her grandmother providing sufficient force could stop the door from closing. The consumer stated she was informed by jeff chevrolet that the door was operating at factory specs. The consumer had the vehicle inspected after almost crushing her son's arm. The consumer did a comparison with honda and mazda, in those vehicles you do not have to use so muchpressure and are adjusted for the safety of the children but the venture is not. The consumer stated she would like the manufacturer to look into this defect.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture.the contact stated that the rear trunk door no longer worked.she would attempt to open the latch and position the rear latch, or hitch, in the open position only to have it slam shut on her.the failure and current mileages were less than 81,817.

Transmission slips and jerks when driving ,gassometimes spups.

Transmission began shifting hard in march 2012 (69998 miles on vehicle). Progressed to, slipping when starting to move from stop, and would catch abruptly causing a lurch forward.i had the trouble codes read, found po-1811 stored in vehicle computer. Contacted chevy dealer, and was told transmission was bad.the dealer strongly suggested a new transmission over repair/rebuild, estimates ranged from $2700.00 to repair, or $3000.00 to rebuild, and $3400.00 for new. Also, was told the old transmission would be kept by gm as a "core" even when buying a "new" transmission. Contacted gm customer service, and was offered a teardown and inspection at $1500.00 my cost, without any promise of assistance from gm.from that point, i could choose between repair/rebuild, or new transmission at regular prices (example: for a new transmission$2100.00 + $1500.00 for teardown = $3600.00, or $4200.00 for repair, and $4500.00 for rebuild). At that point gm would review the defective transmission details for possible monetary compensation. The criteria for gm's decision includes "could the failure have been prevented, by action/s from the owner".was also informed by the dealer service writer, gm requests owners service the transmission at 100,000 mile intervals and no other service is required for proper maintenance. Further, i was assured i would not have been able to prevent the transmissions failure.another employee in the same dealerships service department informed me gm is very aware of this transmissions record of premature failure, also that he owns a late model impala, with the same transmission, which is also failing.

Dt*:the contact stated all three seat belts in the middle seat unbuckle when slight pressure is applied to the belts. This problem is more apparent when a child seat is installed. As the child safety seat is installed the contact checks the seat belt adjustment by pulling on the seat belt which immediately unbuckles. The vehicle was taken to a dealer after the first occurrence and one seat belt buckle assembly was replaced. But the problem has now occurred on the other seat belts on the middle seat and returned to the one that was replaced.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture.the vehicle comes standard with a built-in child safety seat. While fastened in the car seat the contact's 2 year old child was able to reach the adult seat belt, wrap it around his neck, and began to choke.an air gun was needed to remove the seat belt from the child's neck. The current and failure mileage were 77000. Updated 04/12/070.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that the abs light continuously illuminated and the power windows failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000.

The instrument cluster gauges went out and my abs light stays on and i'm in motion

2004 chevrolet venture minivan. Intermittent problem with abs & traction control. When car hits a sharp-hard bump (ie pothole) or when turning sharp to park, the alert that abs and tc turns on. Have replaced rotors and sensors by dealer and authorized mechanic. Chevy dealer denies that having wires from wheel bearing module to computer tight as guitar strings may cause temporary disconnection or bad contacts. This has been going for several years, dealer only solution is to again replace rotors (over $1000) with no guarantee that it will fix intermittent abd and tc disabling.

The consumer owns a chevrolet venture 2004.this vehicle came with defects from the manufacturer. The abs light illuminated.the consumer could hear pumping noises coming off the brakes. There was excessive wheel noise variation when applying the brakes. The first time the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer was february 21, 2005. The abs light was fixed and brakes were fixed. Then april 19, 2005 the vehicle was taken back to the dealer again because the abs light illuminated the brake noise returned.the problem was checked and fixed.now for the third time on may 25th the vehicle was taken to the dealer with the same problem (abs and break noise). Now for the third time the problem was fixed. The vehicle was taken tot he dealer a fourth time on july 5th for abs and break noise. The vehicle is still a thechevrolet dealer.

On or about july of 2005 we noticed our driver brake was putting off the redish dust signaling a need for new brake pads. We bought new pads and my husband went to replace the pads. The pads on the driver side were shot and needed replaced. The pads on the passenger side were brand new! there wasn't any use off them. We purchased the van in nov of 2004. The van has always had noise when coming to a stop. I had it explained to me, from a service tech at a local chevy dealership, as my brakes are pressed but my van still has the motion behind it to allow the rotor to cont. Turning, till the complete stop. This noise is really noticeable at higher speeds needing to stop. The van at times doesn't feel like it wants to stop. I fear its just a matter of time before it doesn't. We have had several people look at and they all say it looks ok, but don't like the sound it making. I made it a point to have the van in the chevy shop before my 36,000 mile warranty expired. They told me the same thing about the rotor still turning slowly till complete stop. Brakes should stop your car!my old parts i'm not sure if my husband saved them or not. He is currently deployed in iraq. I will check with him. Please consider checking the brake systems on the 2004 venture vans.

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle had brake problems for all four wheels. The vehicle was taken to the service dealer on 13 occasions.on the 9th visit, the manufacturer authorized a 72,000-mile warranty. On 8/14/2006, while driving 15 mph, the left rear sliding door fell off the roller track. The vehicle was being repaired at an authorized body shop.the manufacturer was notified.

As i was turning into the parking lot of my child's school, the steering locked up on me. I couldn't turn the wheel for anything and thankfully was not going fast at the time or i wouldn't have been able to stop before having an accident with my children in the car. I turned the van on and off, waited and it still wouldn't work at all. It was after a few hours that i tried again and it worked at that time. I drove carefully home and have to take it in to the dealership to find out what is going on and have it fixed before we do have a major accident. There was no warning at all prior to this happening and we have had it serviced, checked, and all parts replaced as recommended. Oil changes done every 3,000 miles with full synthetic oil. All done at the dealership.

On occasions the weather stripping on the side power door interferes with the closing and locking of the door. This has on three occasions, has subjected my grandson and pets to being possibly thrown out of the vehicle sustaining serious injuriesthe dealer advised us that this was not the best designing but could only replace with an original version of the part. Seems to me that this would be only a bandaid approach to a potentially serious problem. It is my feeling that is should be recalled.

Stared hearing a noise back in december of 2005. Didn't know where the noise or what itwas until last week. Looked in the rear view mirror and noticed the window vibrating. On further investigation saw that the window molding was not attached and called the dealer and was told that car was out of warranty and they would charge me to replace molding. Today i noticed the drivers side window starting to make a noise. Haven't had this car two years yet and only 40,000 miles just think that it is wrong for them to not fix this problem. I am afraid to drive this car over fifty miles per hour in fear that the window will fly out and cause an accident. Have there been other complaints of this problem?

The electric passenger door on my 2004 chevrolet venture has repeatedly closed with various children's body parts in its path.this closing has occurredwhen one child is getting into or out of the van and that child or another child has accidentally pushed the button to close the door, or when i have remotely pushed the button to close the door and one of the children has reached back in for something.the door does not stop, and crushes whatever is in it's path.fortunately i have been quick enough to avoid any serious injuries, but my children have been pretty bruised up and my seven-year-old daughter was cut by the door.

We rented a 2004 chevy venture minivan from avis at phila airport. The minivan comes equipped with a remote-controlled power sliding door on the passenger side. We wondered if the door had an auto-reverse to prevent it from closing on something. We could imagine that with the remote control, someone on the driver side of the vanor inthe driver's seat could close the door without seeing that there was a child, for example, sitting or lying across the doorway. So we decided to test it. We held a 1/2 inch thick stick against the doorframe and closed the door with the remote. If there is an auto-reverse, it did not operate! the door closed on the stick with such force that it pulled the stick out of the tester's hand and crushed the stick against the doorframe. Imagine what it would do to a child's hand or leg! or neck, god forbid! what is this minivan doing on the market????

The sliding door doesn't stay locked in the open position, even if the vehicle is on a flat surface.this almost resulted in a toddler being crushed between the doors. The dealership was contacted and indicated that a sliding door attachment needed to be tightened.the passengers left sliding door would not lock in place. *sc

Design flaw in 2004 chevrolet venture.*mrthe consumer rented the van for a vacation.when the consumer child opened the power sliding door his elbow became stuck in the seat and he could not remove his hand from the door handle.the door continued to open and hyper-extended his right wrist.the child hear a few snaps and then was able to move away from the door.the child sustained a broken wrist. The consumer believes this door is poorly designed.

The automatic reverse safety feature of both power side sliding doors requires excessive force to activate.this results in potential serious injury to small children, weak adults or senior adults unable to exert enough force to activate the reversing mechanism.compare effort required to this safety feature in typical home garage doors or the honda odyssey for example.

2004 chevrolet venture van.while stopped in a parking lot, my fourteen year old son opened the passenger side automatic side door using the interior handle.he kept his hand on the handle while it was opening.his arm (elbow) became stuck in the seat and he could not remove his hand from the door handle while the door was opening.the door continued to open and hyper-extended his right wrist.he heard a couple snaps and found a way to move away from the door.hes now wearing a cast.we took him to a local hospital and x-rays indicated that he fractured his right wrist.pe04064.pco

Dt:the sliding doors are unsafe, they are catching people in the middle of the doors. The door caught the owner's daughter 3 times in the doorway while trying to remove a child from the child seat. The doors are sliding closed, and when it hits a person it's not returning. The owners 3 year old was caught in the door, and the owner had to pull him loose. The other door was opening and closing by itself. If the owner has the remote inhand and accidently hits the remote door would start to close.if someone is in the doorway the door is not reversing itself. The owner has already talked to the dealer and the manufacturer. And no one is willing to take the time to help to fix the problem. The door closed on the 3 year old's body and head andthen the door still didn't return back. The vehicle has been returned to dealer for repair 3 times.when this is happening the vehicle is turned off.

2004 chevy venture-this vehicle was our choice due to the connivance with two young children, now ages 2 and 3 years old.there have been several incidences in which my arm has been bruised by the power door mechanism.one of such incidences i had taken both children out of the car and was reaching back inside the rear left door to retrieve the diaper bag.somehow the door mechanism was triggered to close.i thought if i applied pressure to the door it would reverse however this mechanism is severely delayed.thus the door mechanism was not triggered to reverse until my arm was completely sandwiched between the door & door frame.by the time the door reversed my arm was sore and bruised.i have obviously learned to be very cautious with this door not to get a body part trapped in this door since that occasion.this cautiousness extends to being obsessive about my children and their ability to reach the door button & being able to have a limb obstructing the door.we make sure the children are immediately buckled into their car seats to ensure that they can not open and close the door.however the fact that i as a 23 year old adult has to apply considerable pressure to reverse the door worries me.one day i chose to test the door to see how much pressure i would have to apply to reverse the door i found that applying as much pressure with one hand as possible i was still unable to reverse the door until the door is with in 4 inches of the door frame requiring as much pressure as i would have to apply to operate a lawn mower.my children do not have this amount of strength in any limb of their bodies.if for some reason they would be in a situation where their limb would be obstructing this door they would no doubt suffer extreme injury.as a mother their safety rest on me and i feel that i am doing all i can to prevent an injury with this situation however i truly wish for this motorized mechanism to be thoroughly investigated.

I was on a business trip in texas and we had rented a 2004 chevrolet venture minivan from hertz.on thursday we went to lunch, and i was sitting in the middle bench seat behind the front passenger.when i opened the door to get out, the automatic opener mechanism engaged.i was holding the door handle pulling the door open, the automatic opener pushed my elbow into my seat, and the opener continued to force the door open.with my arm trapped between the handle and the seat, the door twisted my wrist back until it broke one of my wrist bones.after that i was taken to the hospital and treated.the car was returned to hertz, and hertz was notified, and as far as i know they have taken no action.as far as i know there is no corrective action that gm has taken to remedy this problem with the venture.

Automatic sliding door on 2004 venture van...door is dangerous. I sometimes transport older people. I have had 2 near tragedies in the first 2 months i have owned vehicle. The last was when i went to the hospital to pick up a severely handicapped widow woman. When she started to make her exit she somehow must have had her right hand on door the handle and elbow part of arm on seat while door was opening. I could not hold the door back but was able to pull her arm free before it was broken. I reported this to general motors and to the dealer where i bought this vehicle on august 2004. They both told me that this is characteristic of this vehicle. Pe04064.*pco

Automatic sliding door on driver side opens by itself.i will close the door using the keyless remote or the button on the inside of door frame but door will reopen.happens multiple times in a single attempt to close door.slope of vehicle is not a factor as it will reopen when van is parked on even ground.cold weather may be factor. There is always a loud "kachunk" as i assume the mechanism is trying to work.to finally get it to stop reopening in single incident, i will engage the lock or will turn off automatic option.have made numerous calls to dealer and have taken van in twice to be inspected.each time mechanics are not able to duplicate problem and end up "cleaning" the track and adjusting striker.i am concerned that the door is not latching properly and may pose danger of injury to my small children in accident.

I bought my van used but noticed right away that the windshield had a defect in the passenger side. If you sit in passenger sit the view is distorted. I took my van to an auto glass company to see what they thought was wrong with the window and if possible how to fix it. I was told that it is a defect inside the glass and the only way to fix it is to replace the entire windshield.. I will not pay for a new windshield because it is a defect in the glass and is in way my fault. According to the auto glass specialist it is a factory defect and i was to notify chevy. I notified them in 2006 about this and have heard nothing since then. I have tired calling numerous times, all they tell me is to give them the information and someone will call me back but i have yet to receive a call back in 2 years.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that the abs light continuously illuminated and the power windows failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000.

When i bought my 2004 chevy venture i loved it, until my passenger was in the car and told me about something being on the windshield.. After taking it to a few glass company's i was told its a defect in the glass it self and that the windshield was the original. I contact chevy and they said they would look into it. It has been 10 months since then and nothing.. The windshield is still in my car and gets very distracting while i am drinving.. I want to have something done but i am not paying for someone else's mistake.
