2002 chevy ventura started running into electrical issues in the dash aug of 08.in late september of 08 the air bag light had come on.several days after the indicator light luminated the drivers side air bag exploded when starting the vehicle on a dry day.i mention this because i was asked a few times by gm about the conditions) took vehicle to the dealer and contacted gm who sent an inspector out to review the codes and make a determination of the cause.my request was to have gm correct the defect because no impact occurred that would cause the airbag to deploy.the case # 10531887 in gm's records which should state that the case was from water leaking into the floor board that caused the problem, they denied the claim.the passenger side air bag deployed days later when starting the vehicle.contacted them again and they again denied assistance.months after this episode the windshield needed replaced from rock chip.found that the luggage rack was allowing water to leak down though the interpillar on the passenger side and has corroded the pillar frame that it was very difficult to replace the glass.so did gm know about the leak that the luggage rack was creating over the years causing electrical issues on this model???the reason i bring this up is because i believe the inspector knew what to look for because this vehicle had never had issues with water in the floor boards of carpets.i am the second owner.i purchased the vehicle from a family member in 2006 who garaged it most of the time.i do not.i do want to say on a positive note that the van design and the room that the family enjoys in it on long trips has been great.disappointed with the findings because the vans value is not worth anything with these problems.

While driving at 30 mph, vehicle was in a frontal collision and none of the air bags deployed upon impact.this resulted in injuries to passenger and driver.

Consumer states: while driving at the speed of 35mph was involved in a side collision neither air bag deployed. Dealer has been notified. If you have any additional information feel free to add. Ts

2002 chevy venture van with two front, and two side air impact bags.drivers side of van was t-boned accross the entire side of the van and the side impact bag did not go off.the van was hit by a huge brigadier dump truckleaving from a stop sign.the van was totaled.why didn't the air bag go off?accident was on 11/20/02.

While driving the all wheel drive sensor failed. The consumer has replaced the part six times, however the problem still exist.

I was pulled over do to no rear brake light or turn signal on left side. Got a ticket. Went to junk yard bought replacement only to discover it was also burned out and useless !!!!!!!!!!!!!! been through at least 50 bulbs in the last year alone. I am second owner. Also have another electrical issue as in the switch above in between front seats that control inside lighting. It must stay in the off position or it runs the battery completely down. Also the side door gets stuck in the open position and it takes a lot of strength to close it.

Dt*:the consumer stated 1 year ago the vehicle's interior and exterior lights would go out without cause or warning.this problem recently resurfaced.the vehicle was taken to the dealership to have diagnostic tests performed.the dealership was unable to duplicate the problem.

I have had numerous problems with this vehicle.most recently, my wife used the remote to lock the door, not knowing i had not made an exit.i attempted to unlock the door from the inside and it would not unlock, i had to wait until my wife came out of the store and uses the remote to unlock the doors.while this may sound humurous, imagine if this were to happen on a hot summer's day with children inside the vehicle.

2002 chevrolet venture, experienced an electrical fire in dashboard. The consumer pulled to berm and the vehicle became completely engulfed in fire. According to the police report, a fuse had been changed in the cigarette lighter of the dashboard. The consumer stated that was the area she first saw the fire. The first year we owned the vehicle was great.after the first year we have had nothing but problems, frustrations and the run around.the most serious problem is the one i will share with you today.for over a year now, my battery light would come on while i was driving.i have taken the van into the dealership several times.they can never duplicate the incident.thank goodness that it has never stalled while driving but i am sure it is just a matter of time.i have a small child and my husband is military, so my husband is not with us when we travel.naturally i am very concerned that my child and i will be on the highway alone. They have replaced several parts (starter, wires, this time the battery, other times no parts at all)in the vehicle but nothing has corrected this problem.i keep going back and the service department keeps giving the vehicle to the same team.i am so frustrated and i feel like i was sold a new lemon.

Reverse sensing system failed to work resulting in the driver striking a pole.fortunately no one was behind the vehicle at the time.

Bought my venture as dealer demo with 1400 mile on 6/18/02.in april 2004 a/c did not work.tried recharging system found leak.took to chevy in june/july 2004 was told there was a bad weld on the condenser.they refuse to cover $800 repair because vehicle was over 36,000 miles.also told me my gaskets need replacing at a cost of $1300.also, have repeatedly had problems with my driver side power window not going up correctly.it gets stuck midway and sometimes will not go up at all.have had this problem checked at the dealership from the beginning of ownership.water is also in taillight lens.this was also fixed at dealership once but continues to occur.

The vehicle randomly shuts down completely while driving - all electrical systems go off. Afterward, it cranks but does not start, after it's towed, it eventually starts. No error codes show in diagnostics.

Electrical system, air conditioning unit, lock on back hatch, the power slider, and the front and passenger windows have a hard time rolling up or down when it is cold outside, even though car was parked inside garage all night.the air conditioning unit stopped blowing cold air just about 6 months after we got it.the lock on the back end was stuck in the locked positioned and would not disengage.and the electrical system is all messed up in the back end.taillights want to work when there not supposed to and the same with the reverse lights.lights brighter then others on one side then the other, then a few minutes later it will be the other why around.alot has to do with when i push on the brake pedal if the turn signals are going to work or not.and the power slider was already recalled on the van.the rear brakes on the van are sticking. Example: when you stop for a second and then release the brakes it will make a loud noise like it was stuck and then had to force itself to release.not sure where to start on this process to get everything fixed.

Air conditioner condenser failed, gm new of the problem in december, 2002, but kept their mouth shut until the warranty expired.the gas gauge does not work, it flips from full to empty, i have to keep a mileage notebook in order to know when to fill up.my warning light on the dash continues to flash "rear hatch ajar, side door ajar, low brake fluid."there is nothing wrong with any of the items.the front brakes went bad at 32,000, requiring new pads and rotors.the window button on the driver side will put the passenger window down, but not up.the rear window washer does not work.i am so glad that gm is going bankrupt.i bought an american car, to try and help the workers stay employed, but now realize that all i did was to keep some overpaid, lazy slobs on the job for much longer than they should have been employed.the dealer has been a complete loss, with gm customer service having the attitude that, "since the warranty has expired, you can stick it, because we don't care.

Consumer states all doors on the vehicle locks without warning. Dealer notified. Ph

4 episodes of where the chevrolet venture mini van would not start, purchased new and have paid 11 months on vehicle.

My wife and i own a 2002 chevrolet venture van.on at least 5 occasions in the 16 months we have owned it, it has unexpectedly stalled while driving, most recently in an intersection.the dealer (h&h chevrolet) has been of no help as they cannot find anything wrong.i see that there have been at least 6 identical complaints lodged with your office for this very problem (see complaint nos. 10001257, 10001548, 10001584, 10002244, 10004168, 10014614), so it is not unique to my vehicle.clearly it is a safety issue, particularly when it happens in an intersection (like it did for us) or on the highway as in some of the other complaints.please let me know if the manufacturer has found a solution to this problem.thanks!

Venture minivan stalls (dies) while driving.this occurs unexpectedly...occurring 5 different times since we've bought the vehicle.no accidents or injuries as of yet, but we have a child so this is of major concern to us.mini-van has been to the dealership 3 times...they were unable to duplicate problem.we made a formal complaint to gm headquarters.most recently dealership replaced ignition switch, stating that problem could..."possibly (be) bad ignition switch."at this point we still do not know if problem is fixed or are we waiting for another stall to occur while driving.*la

Sylvania bulb in the rear brake light socket on passenger side failed. When i went to replace the bulb i found the bulb and socket had melted. Replaced the bulb into the burnt socket and it is now working. My concern is that no fuse blew and why did this socket melt and burn? vehicle is a 2002 chevrolet, veture vin number 1gndx03e92d22013.i have several photos of the failed bulb denoting the damage that occured from the heat. Contacted the dealer and he said i could pay him $70.00 to do an electrical diagnosic check. Have also written to gm about it.

Blown intake manifold gasket. Vehicle did not have an overheating issue, and has been well maintained since i've owned it. Drove across a steep 7 mile hill, temp gauge started moving above normal. I stopped and let it cool down, motor got to about 245 degrees well before any warning lights were able to come on. Started the motor and it sounded different so i popped the hood and the coolant overflow was bubbling. Noticed the windshield started steaming up, and a very rough idle. Shut the motor off and started it again. White smoke coming from the tailpipe. Turn it off again and opened the oil cap and it had the mayo look and smelled of antifreeze. Pulled the dipstick and the oil was brown and separated. Got it hauled home. Did an inspection and antifreeze was all down the block. Took the motor apart and the lower intake manifold gasket was just detroyed. Chevrolet has had nothing but problems out of these 3.4 gen 3 motors. They all need to be recalled and the problem corrected. Doesn't matter if you keep the coolant flushed and oil changed. Head gaskets were in the same shape i changed them too. All together cost me over $1000 between gasket kits, head bolts, intake bolts, coolant, oil, filter, flush, and that was changing the head gasket, lower and upper intake manifold gasket completely by myself. These motors are so hard to work on, i just couldn't afford to have someone do it for me. It's just bad to buy a vehicle and have this problem. Most venture owners have changed head gaskets or intake gaskets more than once. Toyota recalled their 3.0 motors for this problem, why is gm not made to rectify this continuous problem. The van has alot of other problems as well, body rust, headlights you cannot see with, oil seal leaks, steering knuckle problems, sliding door issues, radio problems, electrical problems, signal lights, abs problems. Fuel pump problems. It's a lemon

Vehicle was showing 'hot coolant temperature' and was taken to the mechanic for repairs. After just months the same problem returned.

The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who diagnosed that the oil pressure sending unit, water pump, thermostat and radiator cap was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired yet the repair failed to remedy the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic who advised the contact that the motor also needed to be replaced. 2002 chevrolet venture van with 77,000 miles- failure of intake manifold gasket.i noticed anti freeze smell everytime i shut off vehicle. This had been going on for about 2 months. I had local service station check it out and they informed me that the intake manifold gasket is leaking water and leaking intake manifold gaskets seems to be a major problem with chevrolet vehicles. I understand there is a class action suit being started about this problem. Why hasn't chevrolet done anything about this if it is true. Supposedly there was an article in the national petroleum institute magazine concerning this problem, any information that you can supply would be greatly appreciated. I have had all required maintenance done on this vehicle. I am having the intake manifold gaskets replaced next week before the water gets into the oil and i have a major engine failure. Cost of this job will be approximately $ 500.00.

Suspension--both tie rods in the front of the vehicle have had to be replaced--mechanic said that both times it was near catastrophic failure.other--air conditioner condenser cracked due to design failure.2002 service bulletin told that gm was aware of the problem but kept quiet until the warranty period was over, and then refused to help.brakes--front brake pads have been replaced four (4) times, rotors have been replaced twice. The vehicle has 83,000 original miles.i am the original owner.

My 2002 chevy venture was brought to the dealer in 2004 for normal maintenance. When i went to pick up the van i was told by the service person that they replaced the intake manifold gasket, which i was unaware that it was even a problem. This work was done under warranty and i was told by the service person that it was continuing problem with the ventures. It is now november 2007 and the gasket needs to be replaced again and the vehicle is out of warranty. I received a $946.00 dollar estimate from my local mechanic. I contacted the dealership and they also want to charge me for the repair. If this is a defect then chevy / gm should repair this for free. I have read numerous complaints about this gasket problem. Please help.

I just bought this car in march of 2006. I have already have had brake problems, radiator problems, and now engine and oil pump problems. I still have approx. $7,500.00 in payments to a financial company. I did have an as is purchase but is there any kick back for mien some way. This isn't fair. Is there any thing i can do to have the dealer at least help with the purchase and repair for a new engine for this car. It also have 10 potential listings under autocheck.com. I haven't obtained those because i do not have the extra money to purchase these reports.

Rear deferintial went out than front deferintial went out.i can not find a shop to fix front deferntial because they do not have the tools to take apart.a chevey dealership has made a suggestion that i replace the whole transmission. I have owned this van since feb. 2006 and i've had to replce the air condishtion motor (about $950.00) the rear deferintial (about $1400.00) and now about an other $2000.00 to put a used front deferintial.the air cond. Motor was new, the rear deferintial was used i could not afford to buy a new one it would have been $3500.00.i beleive that i am paying for a lemon not a good working van.please help me find out what i can do to have a recall on this van or if gm should be paying for replaceing these parts.

Heard a rumbling/grinding noise and vibration when pulling out of parking space, more specifically when making a right turn. This noise was not heard when vehicle was in normal driving motion. Vehicle had been at the dealer at least 4 times. However, dealer was unable to duplicate the problem.

Head gasket failure, coolant leaks in to the engine compartment engine could fail at any given time creating a safety hazard for driver, passengers and other drivers.

68,000 miles on 2002 venture and losing coolant.mechanic told me it would be approximately $650 to replace poorly designed intake manifold gasket that is leaking!

January 4,2011 philadelphia, pa. I first notice in aug 2010 that my 2002 chevy venture was making noise and overheating was told by a mechanic it was my wheel bearings andmy thermostat got that repaired that cost about $425.00 then the van kept overheating and cutting off went back to the mechanic and was told it was my radiator that was repaired drove it and had to take the van back because it was still overheating so the water pump was repaired and the both of those repairs was about $275.00 needless to say the van was still overheating then i was told that the van need to be put on the diagnostic machine and then i found out it was my intake manifold gasket and that cost me $500.00. If gm is having this many customers with the same problems this it should be addressed so us as owner don't be put through this again.

Took the venture minivan in for brakes at the dealership and they told me the intake manifold gasket needed to be replaced.i was not losing any radiator fluid but how do youargue with a dealership that wants to make money.from the web and this site, gm has a defective intake manifold seal that should have been fixed free to charge.a service bulletin was even issued for this problem.shame on gm.

Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle stalled intermittently.this happened at various speeds and under normal driving conditions.the vehicle was taken to the local dealership for inspection numerous times.however, the dealer could not duplicate the problem.the dealer replaced the intake manifold and anti-freeze in an attempt to remedy the problem, but it still exists.

The intake manifold gasket on my 2002 chevy venture van with a 3400 cc engine failed and over heated.my wife who is a visiting nurse was luck enough to get off the road in a safe area.this problem has been going for at least 6 yrs without any help from the government to force a recall on a known defect. There are many web sites that have documented this problem.what is safe about overheating on a highway or at night with family and kids in the car.gm has already issued a service bulletins about the gasket problem and what dealers are to do to fix the problem at the customers expense.i believe that the government should force gm into a recall.these repairs are costing about 6oo.00 to 1200.00 dollars.thank you.robert s. We bought a chevy venture in october, 2004. It was supposed to have been a "gm certified" vehicle, since we bought it in october and in the midwest we did not need to turn the air conditioning unit on until about six months later. That is when we noticed that it was not blowing cold air. According to the dealer the air conditioner condenser had a leak, by then the 3000 miles warranty had expired and we got stuck with the $900 dollars bill.the second incident happened in march 2006, while at the service stationfor an oil change and state mandated safety inspection the mechanic informed me that the engine cooling system manifold had a leak. I think this vehicle is a lemon but it is to late to do anything about it, this second problem is going to cost me another $900 dollars. Why is it that everything that goes wrong with this van costs $900 dollars?

Coolant leaking.turns out gaskets need to be replaced.car has only 47,000 miles on it.research shows this is a common complaint.cost approximately $750 to fix.i see where gm knows about problem and issued technical service bulletin, yet consumer must pay.gm should pay.

I have a 2002 chevy venture van that earlier this summer started to lose engine coolant.web research shows many other fails of this type on the chevy venture van.i took it to a local mechanic who performed a coolant leak check and found the head gasket failed in two places.it appears to be a design problem but gm refuses to help, cost of the repair was over $500.the vehicle just came out of warranty the first of the year.not a safety problem - design problem.would like a recall and gm to pay for their design problem.

I am still paying for a 2002 chevy venture van that i bought 2 1/2 yrs ago. It has 72000 miles on it. I am having major cooling issues anywhere from over heating to smelling the anti freeze, if it idles for 10min it will get up to about 220 deg and the fans wont kick on till 285 deg. We have had in the shop 4 times now for repairs. The water pump was replaced, the intake manifold gasket was replaced, this time they just replaced my radiator cap and flushed my system. 4 days later its doing it again overheating to 3/4 mark, smelling very distinctly like anti- freeze yet there are no leaks. ? they are now looking into an engine sensor and said it normally runs 184 deg and should be at least 195 deg so it runs low on anormal basis. ( normal to me since i bought it) i paid for an extended warranty through gm and no one can seem to find what the problem is.? how many deductibles do i have to pay before they actually find the solution to the problem i told them about from the beginning? i have three children i drive around in this van and i shouldn't have to worry about it overheating somewhere.

60,000 miles on 2002 venture 3.4 and loosing coolant (intake gasket ) i also own a 1996 chevrolet 1500 wow yep i replaced gasket on it 5.0 plastic gaskets.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 30 mph the temperature warning light illuminated, causing the speed of the vehicle to be reduced.the vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection.upon inspection, the dealership replaced the intake manifold and cylinder head gaskets, which remedied the problem.the manufacturer was alerted.

With 39,000 miles we came through a toll booth & with no warning the engine made an awful noise & quit. After the expense of a tear down, the engine was found defective. A small piece of metal broke off, bent the rods and there was no compression on one side. We had to pay for a new motor and feel as this was a defect which gm should make right with us. ( i retired from gm, & may never but a gm vehicle again.

The engine stalled without warning.

I own a 2002 chevy venture needs a new head gasket i was told very common with this make of vehicle i have already put alot of money in van. The van overheats so often i can hardly even use it. I am financially in a position were i can't afford a new car don't think i should have to when i have taken such great care of this van. Further more after researching online i have found numerous problems with this same issue that consumers have had with 2002 chevy ventures. I feel this is a safety issue i never know how hot can the van get before its a danger to me, my children or anyone else this should be looked into for recall.

Coolant leak.head gasket was disintegrating due to type of coolant gm used.head gasket had to be repaired.$750.

Failure of intake mainifold and head gasket, resulting in replacement of intake manifold, heads, head gasket, thermostat (3 times), water pump (2 times), radiator, condenser, radiator cap (2 times), all due to dex cool and faulty design.all parts replaced.old parts not retained.

Vehicle has been indealers shop four times due tofuel gaugenot working properly.whenever fuel tank was filled fuel gauge would show a half tank.also, there wasan oil leak.vehicle had been indealers shop twice foroil leak.

Consumer called complains about having problems with the vehicle stalling stated that while driving the vehicle has lost complete power and has come to a complete stop on the middle of the highway. Dealer was contacted and the vehicle has been at the shop 8 times total since september. Ts

Consumer states the vehicle shuts off completely while traveling at over 50 mph.after coming to a complete stop and vehicle was parked it would restart.after traveling half mile it would shut off again.dealer found corrosion on the wires and adjusted, however problem still exist.

Without warning, my 2002 chevy venture van's a/c stopped working -- a.c. Specialist determined that not only did the compressor stop working, it somehowhad exploded and sent freon and metal shards causing additional damage and highter costs -- this was in june a couple of weeks before vacation - what could we do but pay the almost $2,000 costs (a lot of labor!).an a/c compressor going when it's only 4 years old?what a defective part!soon after this incident, the fuel gauge stopped working - can't afford another pricey repair, so we've been tracking mileage with the trip odometer to tell us when it's time to refill.this car doesn't hold a candle to my old 1990 lumina van that last to over 200,000 miles!very disappointed with chev -- don't know if i'll ever buy american again!!!

2002 chevy venture, 65000 miles, intake manifold gasket needs replaced. This is a manufacturing defect and i should not have to replace an engine gasket at 65000 miles. This is a costly repair and of course outside of the chevy warranty. This vehicle has been maintained better than adequately.

Front brakes failed prematurely--rotors were destroyed at 34,000 miles.air conditioner condenser failed, gm knew of problem in dec. Of 2002 but kept quiet until warranty ran out. Needed to replace condenser and dryer with new parts, gm would not help.fuel gauge doesn't work, have to keep paper ecord of fuel consumption.rear window washer has failed, does not spray.

3yr old compressor (air conditioner front & rear) )for 2002 chevy venture leaks which caused us to replace entire unit.

I purchased a new 2002 chevy venture on 10/15/01. One week after i purchased the van the driver side power sliding door malfunctioned. It closed to within an inch and then spontaneously bounced back open. It malfunctioned no matter which method i used to close the door (pressing the overhead console button, the door button or the remote button.) i had to manually push the door closed when it occurred.for a while, i thought i was accidentally hitting the remote because the malfunction does not occur all the time.rather, it happens off and on, sometimes several times a week and then not again for a few weeks.it continued to malfunction sporadically and i returned to the dealer service dept the first time on 2/1/02. It has been in for service for this problem 9 times and still continues to malfunction. On one recent occasion my 4-year-old son was struck in the back of the head when the door malfunctioned while he was standing next to the van. I notified chevrolet's customer assistance center and they advised me to bring the van in for service again. I complied, but the door continues to malfunction. When the customer service center followed up and i told them that the door still is not working properly, they said that i should bring it in for service again (for the 10th time).i also have a problem with the ventilation system. For some unknown (to me) reason, the air conditioner (a/c) starts to smell horribly foul. It has been serviced on 4 occasions for this problem. The most recent time (in august 2003), the technicians removed all hose and duct work and cleaned it with bleach and cleaner. The foul odor returned within 2 weeks. I hired a consulting firm to perform an air analysis on the van and the lab results indicated that 2 species of mold spores are still present in the duct work. Again, chevrolet customer assistance center is aware of the problem and they advised me to return to the dealer for service.*la

We own a 2002 chevrolet venture with 80,000 miles and the wheel bearing hubs have been replaced three times.the last time was two months ago and the light is back on again.the last time the dealer changed the hub assembly, they said that they change them all the time.the air conditioning also leaking and does not work.the rear differential has internal broken disks and does not work.we will never buy another venture again.

A/c condenser failed. Replaced with new part. Was informed that they have replaced several of these condensers(very costly).

2002 chevrolet venture has a failed air conditioner condenser.the problem was outlined in a service bulletin dated december, 2001, two months after we purchased the vehicle.gm has done nothing to rectify the problem.

The air conditioning went out in feb. Of 2007. The same old story i have heard from countless people online owning a chevy venture. The condenser had a hole in it and the orifice tube needed replacing. When is chevy going to realize there is a problem.

The consumer noticed the drivers side floor board was soaked and wet, due to the air conditioner leaking.

Brake bulbs continually blow, and over heat in my chevy venture minivan.i thought it might be an isolated incident but my neighbors montana (same parts & manufacturer) is doing the same.also have noticed others on the road now that have rear brake lights out.i think this is a defect.in addition, the light bar was burned in several places when we replaced it the first time, and had signs of heat damage when we replaced yet another bulb. Updated 08/24/10.*ljthe consumer sent in additional complaints from other chevrolet venture owners. Updated ivoq 08/25/10

2002 chevy venture brake lights. Mostly, the rear right brake light does not function properly. Occasionally, the left rear brake light may not function either. Sometimes, both will not work correctly. The vast majority of the time, the right rear brake does not work or "blows" prematurely. Have replaced four bulbs on the right side alone, of which two didn't appear to be blown. Have seen and talked to other venture owners who have same problem. This is a road hazard as you never know if and how many of your brake lights are operational.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet venture.the brake light worked intermittently.the bulb was changed, but the failure continued.the passenger and driver side plastic input for the bulb melted.the vehicle was not inspected by a dealer.the failure mileage was 65,000 and current mileage was 79,000.

The left rear (driver's side) brake light (upper most bulb/3057) keeps burning out. This has occurred three times in the last three years. Upon inspection of the bulb, there is physical damage (melting) on the male bulb connection.

Tail lamp bulb base and/or sockets on general motors minivans heating up and melting causing a disconnection of the circuit and loss of stop and turn signals. Same condition as with the suv's in recall # 04v527000. Replacing bulbs are only a temporary fix.

The driver's side brake light on my 2002 chevy venture is always out. The bulb has been replaced numerous times, to no avail. Technicians at oil change businesses have told me that this is common problem with chevy ventures. I have seen other chevy ventures on the road with the same light out. I had my venture at the car dealer for a recall service on the door handles and asked them to also fix the brake light problem. They finished my sentence for me when i was describing the problem--they already knew that ventures have this problem. However, they did not fix it. I also believe that chevy trucks and suvs have been recalled for this very problem. I believe the venture shouldbe recalled too.

The driver's side brake light burns out constantly on my 2002 chevrolet venture van.it seems the housing gets too hot and melts the bulb at the point of contact.my mechanic has replaced the bulb and attempted to fix it numerous times as have i.my mechanic says he has seen this before on this model van and it's always the driver side.i'm afraid i will be rear-ended with this light being out most of the time.chevrolet has failed to admit there is an issue.

The rear brake lights/upper tail lights (not the high 3rd brake light) keep burning out.the service manual references a fuse but upon visual inspection of the fuse box, the box was never wired to hold fuses for the rear tail lamps in the places as indicated.once the rear tailight/brake lights (3057) are removed there is usually physical damage (melting) on the bulb connection and within the female end of the plug.the problem was corrected by the dealer the first time but has happend several more times.simply changing the bulb no longer works for the left side tail lamp.

Our 2002 chevy venture van headlights kept going out at night while we were driving down the road. I took it to the garage where i bought it and they said that they have never heard of this happening before, the schematics don't show how to fix it. They even said they called gm engineers and that they said they didn't know how to fix it. So for the next year the garage kept putting in different pieces and sending the van home with us to drive. Mind you this is not something like the fan motor going off it's the dam headlights going off while at night and going down the road . The same thing happened time and time again headlights go out while you are driving down the road. After a year of this, we took it to the van to the garage and they kept it for 6 weeks. We kept getting different excuses of why it wasn't finished yet, so after the 6 weeks, they still didn't call, i was fed up enough i went and got the van. The serviceman stated gm started a forum web page to were if you have a problem with a vehicle, you can log on there and try to find an answer. That's how they found the next part they changed. Since we have gotten the van back on october 18th the headlightshave stayed on. Then we think it took 13 months for this problem to occur the 1st time. What happens if it happens again and it causes an accident or death ??? i think we should be compensated for being the guinea pigs, in this research project. The chevy service rep stated all he could do is maybe get us 1 free year of service, i don't think this is no where near what is owed for putting our lives in danger. Please help.

My chevy 2002 venture has been blowing headlights for the last few years seems they leak water but now they have turn yellow now the beam is very low where at night i can hardly tell if there on.

The brake light harnesses keep coming loose and and the tail lights aren't working now the harnesses have melted so the only fix i have is to solder the wires to the leads.

The left rear brake light/upper tail light keep burning out.the rear tail light/brake light (3057) when removed usually have melting on the bulb connection.changing the bulb doesnot correct the situation.this is the fith time in two years the dealer has attempted to fix this problem.i keep getting tickets for burned out taillights/stop lights.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet venture.the contact stated that when ever he added fuel to its capacity and parked the vehicle in his garage,he smelled fuel.he also stated that he doesn't smell fuel while the vehicle is being driven.the failure only occurred when the fuel tank was full. The dealer stated that there was a recall for the fuel system; however, the vin was not included. The vehicle was repaired at the owners expense. The failure recurred which also revealed a crack on the inlet valve. Nhtsa campaign id 07v349000, fuel system, gasoline: storage is related to the failure. The failure and current mileages were 131,000.

I was driving and notice the van slowing down on me and then it stopped suddenly.i took it to a mechanic and was told it needed gas.two weeks after i notice the odometer would jump from empty to full back and forth.then i notice whenever i try to fill it up with gas it would not take more than $5.00 worth.

Fuel gauge reads erratically.

I filled up the van, 1.5 hrs later we stopped to use a rest area and it wouldn't start.it sounds like it wants to start but it just won't fire.we had to get it towed, (we were 400 miles from home). It has been in the shop for over a month.they have tried everything.we had a diagnostic at a chevy dealer and they said 100% it needed a new fuel pump.they wanted $800.i found one for $300.but it did not fix the problem.now we are still stumped.the dealership does not want to help me again unless i get it fixed there.i can't afford their prices.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet venture.the contact smelled gasoline fuel from the vehicle while parked. When he attempted to refuel the vehicle, it would take thirty minutes to add two gallons to the tank.in addition, the check engine warning light was illuminated.the dealer informed the contact that his vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 07v349000 ( fuel system, gasoline:storage).the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance.no repairs were performed.the current and the failure mileages were unknown.

Icv (in line check valve) housing on fuel tank has started cracking and leaking fuel. Chevrolet says this unit is not affected by recall 07v349000. It appears to be the same as my other venture we had the recall performed on leaking at same spot. This is a fire hazard and gm should repair this on all venture vans. I have run across hundreds of people in discussion with same issue and not within gm's vin breaks. I think gm needs to look at this again. I have pictures to prove what is going on.

Leak in gas tank where filler neck goes into tank.reference nhtsa recall # 07v349000.gm and local dealer has told me my vehicle does not qualify for recall because my van is long wheelbase and recall is for short wheelbase.the fracture in the tank is in the same location as from the recall for short wheelbase chevrolet ventures.

Have fuel leaking from storage tank, technician says it is coming from around the inlet, and that there is a related safety campaign on my vehicle (nhtsa campaign id number: 07v349000). The dealership tells me that my vehicles is not one that is involved in the campaign (2002 chevrolet venture [xxx]). It would seem that gm misreport the scope of the problem.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Chevy venture 2002 w/83732 miles.to whom it may concern:on april 28, 2002 i took van to have it test it for the emissions.it failed with p0446 code, evap vent performance.on may 2, 2002, i took the van to my local dealership to have it diagnosed for service engine light and abs light on.they advised me that in order for them to further diagnosed this issue, that they would need to remove the fuel tank for a total of $776.51 cost. Service advisor requested an immediatepayment of $345.00 for them to further diagnose the issue which i declined.i then called gm to inquired about any service bulletins and/or recalls on my minivan, gm found none and they declined to assist with this repair. Based on my research, it seems that a lot of chevy venture owners are experiencing the same issue with the emissions system.i do feel that there is a defective part within the emmisions system and more specifically the vent valve and or the fuel tank pressure sensor in the fuel tank.i will not be buying another gm product.i would be very happy to see a recall on this issue.customer shouldn't have to be put in a financial position where the fuel tank on the vehicle needs removal in order to have a fuel emissions system diagnosed.thank you very much for your attention to this matter.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

I purchased a used 2002 chevy venture with only 84,000 and the first thing i did was fill it with gas for the next day of school drop offs and pick ups . I got home parked it and the next day a small puddle of gas was under drivers side sliding door. I looked on line and found a recall so i called the chevy dealer and they said my vin # was not one that was covered. So now we have our new van sitting in our drive way with no money to fix it till next week. I think gm really needs to step up and fix their problem... I fond several people in the same boat. And still after they bought a new tank a week or two later the same thing occurred.. So now what... Who is keeping the automotive companies accountable.. Does some small child have to be injured or god forbid loose their life... Some one needs to do something....

Throttle to the accelerator locked in the fully open position.van accelerated on the highway. Brakes started to fade badly, unable to hold the engine.had my four young children in the van.forced to shift into neutral and turn the engine off in the middle of rush hour traffic.

Dt: 2002 chevrolet venture.consumer is handicapped and has to drive left footed.within the first year of owning the venture opened left sliding manual door and the door fell off the tracks and fell onto the consumer. This was in november of 2002. Consumer'sbrother put the door back on the tracks and sled it as far as it would go, but would not close.drove the van to dealership, they said they fixed it.continued to havedoor problems, and vehiclehas been in and out of the dealership.august or september of 2004, the door fell off again.stopped and had help putting it back on.took it back to dealership, they said they fixed it again.then, the sliding door overlapped the drivers door, pining the consumerin vehicle.took back to dealership and this time it was out of warranty, and consumer had to pay to have it fixed. Currently, the window was moving from the wind that was coming around the door. Called the manufacturer, and i told them that door needed to be fixed agai. Currently, the car was parked in consumer'sdriveway awaiting repairs. The right door was now showingthe same problems, the dealership changed the right door module due to a recall.this fixed the right door. The door has no handles to be able to shut the door ,and consumermust slide the door using the window, and this was unsafe.the dealership put new seat belts in because they said the seat belts were causing the door problem . The new seat belts do not retract.the seat latch by the right rear door broke, could not move the seat in any way. About 2 months ago, whiledrivingstopped at a stop sign andsmelled gas. The o ring had a defect that caused this, according to the dealership.

My 2002 chevrolet venture had a fractured fuel inlet that i had repaired at the dealership prior to the recall (no. 06230 i believe). I have submitted to the manufacturer for reimbursement for the charges to correct the defect and the manufacturer is denying that this is a recall solely because i did not receive a recall notice. My vehicle clearly falls within the vin# for a recalled vehicle but since they did not send me a notice they claim it is not a defect. I would like reimbursement for correcting on my own and prior to the recall the defective vehicle/parts.

The vehicle'sgas tank</a> had a small leak.the fumes could be smelled in the garage and small spots were seen on the garage floor.the mechanictold the consumer that the tank was plastic and a knob had broke off causing the leak.*tc

While driving, the vehicle hit a mud flap and put a hole in the gas tank.

While driving the venture van, road debris hit the gas tank and punctured it. Gas tank is plastic and is the lowest part of the vehicle.there is no protection from road debris.

Fuel tank filler neck has defective weld that allowed large quanity of fuel to leak onto both the vehicle and ground. This vehicle has never been in any accident or operated in a rough or abusive manner. Fuel tank had to be replaced.have very grave concerns about what would happen in a side impact collision.

The light saying "check engine soon" went on.i was due for an oil change anyway so took the car to the dealer.parts manager said it needs a new thermostat and intake gasket. Gasket takes 6.6 hrs labor and will therefore cost over $500. This is a 2002 chevrolet venture van model sv; 42000 miles. This seems an unusual costly repair for this vehicle. What do you think?

While driving our 2002 chevrolet venture, the abs light comes on and "all-wheel drive disabled" appears in the display. This has occurred on three separate occasions, each time while driving, each time after having been repaired by the dealer. In for service on 9/5/02, 11/19/02, 12/2/02 and today, 9/29/03 for a total of 47 days and counting. This last incident occurred after the part was "redesigned" to eliminate the known defect.there was afailure of the abs and all wheel drive system due to a faulty wheel speed sensor.the consumer requested a refund under the new york lemon law. The fuel evaporator leaked. *scc

Fuel gauge problem on 2002 chevy venture. Stays at full when driving (never moves), stays at empty (never moves) with low fuel light on when idling. That's it, the fuel gauge shows no other amount of fuel. Nothing out of the ordinary happened to signal the start of this problem. Has caused vehicle to run out of gas without any knowledge. No repairs have solved this problem. Many other complaints on various message boards on the internet from other chevy venture owners with similar problem and no luck in correction of the problem.

Vehicle has been indealers shop four times due tofuel gaugenot working properly.whenever fuel tank was filled fuel gauge would show a half tank.also, there wasan oil leak.vehicle had been indealers shop twice foroil leak.

Temp gauge trys go hot had check nothing engene misfire had check 7 times now.replacemass air temp sensore twice throttle position sensors. Plugs and wires twice in one month has wire shortage for ac and we have paid out alot of money from day 2 of owning this was going sell but i would sell this crap to no one.. Now says o2 sensore left wheel sensor and much more codes junk like this dont need to be sold..

Fuel filler neck cracked where it is attached to the gas tank. Fuel leaking out of neck.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet venture. The contact noticed an abnormally strong fuel odor coming from the vehicle. The contact observed fuel puddles under the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v349000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

I noticed fuel mileage being really off and a very strong gasoline smell and had it checked @ our local repair shop and was told gas tank weld had failed; we were also told we were very lucky that we got it in as soon as we did. Very dangerous! was also told by mechanic that there had been recalls on this very thing and also even more service bulletins. I contacted gm and was told yes there had been recalls but not our vin number group! now it's time to do this before someone dies or is maimed. They told me they were very sorry but glad no one was hurt! i was also told to save all my paper work just in case @ which time i told them i save everything! they were more concerned about why i had taken it to our repair shop rather than one of their dealers; i told them that the only thing i ever got from their dealers were that they could not ever replicatethe problem; then our repairman would fix what they couldn't even identify.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet venture. While the vehicle was parked, there was strong fuel odor emitted in and around the vehicle. Each time the vehicle was parked, a puddle of fuel was seen on the ground. The contact's brother, a certified mechanic, diagnosed the vehicle and stated that the tank was cracked at the inlet check valve and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v349000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no open recall per the vin. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

The fuel gauge either shows full or empty.it will show full while driving, but when sitting still, even if you just filled up the low fuel light will come on and the gauge will drop to empty.other than setting the trip, you have no way of knowing how much gas is in the tank.when you get to half a tank or so, the light will come on constantly and ding.have tried many things to fix this problem but nothing seems to work.i have heard this on a lot of this same type vehicle.

Fuel level gauge does not work ever since i had this van and fuel pump unexpectedly went bad at about 83000 miles

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that there was a fuel leak coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the inlet check valve and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v349000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage). The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet venture. Upon refueling the vehicle, fuel started leaking from the fuel tank. The contact mentioned that the failure progressively worsened. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed a small fracture which may have allowed fuel vapors and small droplets of fuel to pass through. The vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v349000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 214,000.

The gas gauge stopped working, went from full to empty in about 3 seconds.chevy refused to help. I have carried a notebook in the vehicle since that time, writing down the date, place of purchase, mileage, total cost, cost per gallon, and how many gallons.this is to make sure i don't run dry, since the idiot going goes off whenever it pleases. (car was purchased new, from paramus chevrolet in october, 2001).

I bought this car used and discovered that i couldn't fill the gas tank more than 1/3 of the way or it would leak from a crack in the plastic gas tank where the filler pipe connects to the tank. I looked it up on the internet and discovered it was a common problem;http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2003/chevrolet/venture/fuel+tank i talked to my local chevrolet dealer and he said that there was a recall, but my vin number was not included. Now what?

Suddenly my vehicle had a strong gasoline odor when i walked up on it in the morning i smelled it 3 feet away from my vehicle. It happened just like that all of a sudden. I scheduled my inspection with my mechanic and i told him i suddenly was smelling a strong odor of gas. My mechanic called and informed me there was a crack in my gas tank and it is leaking so that is why i was smelling gas so badly. We ordered another 2002 chevrolet venture gas tank from a salvage yard. They shipped the gas tank and when my mechanic opened it it was broke in the same exact place. This is why i thought looking up for possible recall. I found recall 07v349000. Stated the fuel tank inlet check valve can crack and leak. Stated affected chevrolet venture 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004. I have 2002. My problem is it's vin specific according to chevrolet the number that i was given to call about the recall. 18006302438. My vin number was not included. My problem fits the description perfectly but they claim they can't help me. This is a serious safety problem for anyone. I now have to pay over 1,000.00 for a new gas tank or have no car. I do not have any transportation now. My chevrolet venture is sitting at my mechanics.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that all the fuel filler necks were fractured, which caused fuel to leak. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 160,000.

The contact owns a 2002 chevrolet venture. While driving approximately 25 mph the rear passenger side automatic sliding door opened on its own. The contact noticed the door had not latched and had returned to the open position. The failure occurred intermittently and over time it would not latch at all. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The contact inspected the vehicle and stated the unlatch actuator assembly to the rear passenger side automatic power sliding door needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact disconnected the automatic sliding door function and manually operated the door. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 01v067000(latches/locks/linkages:doors:latch) but the vehicle was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

Non-power driver's side sliding door will not securely lock when in opened position.if on an incline the door will come back on you.this happened to my 6 yr ear old daughter, knocking her to the ground and causing scrapes and abrassions.per our chevrolet dealership's service dept as well as per a gm rep this is due to design and the dealership cannot correct the problem.i was offered $1000 off a new gm vehicle or a free oil change as compensation.the vehicle has been in the shop 5 times for the same problem which cannot be corrected by design.problems began about 6 months after purchase.i used the last date the vehicle was in for service as the incident date.

Sliding doors have no locking system in place to keep doors open when on an incline. As i was loading van i turned to pick up items and 2yr. Old son started to climb in the pass. Side sliding door. As he climbed in, door released and closed on his head causing bump on back of head and cuts and moderate swelling on face.

Consumer states that passenger's power sliding door intermittently cannot be opened from inside or outside.this occurs if consumer attempts to open by using the release button or opening manually.problem seems to occur when outside temperatures are on the higher end.dealer has been unable to duplicate the problem.

Owner of a model year 2002 chevrolet venture reported that the passenger side power sliding doors malfunctioned .*mron several occasions the door has opened while the vehicle was in motion and children were inside.the dealer has replaced many parts under warranty but now claim that nothing is wrong with the vehicle.the door has continued to malfunction.

Passanger's door sticks since we bougnt the van new.much worse in hot temperature. Dealership of no help.

The left and right doors opened unexpectedly on their own. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that door and door latches needed to be replaced.

Automatic sliding passenger door on my 2002 chevrolet venture opens frequently after closing (while vehicle is in park position)owner must stay by door to make sure that it closes successfully each time.

The owner had the automatic sliding door repaired at the dealership on four occasions. The door opened unintentionally, however the dealership stated there was nothing wrong with the door. After the owner pulled out of the dealer, the problem occurred again. No one was willing to assist the consumer with the problem. Also the all wheel drive system has gone bad and the sensors have gone out twice. Also, the abs light stays on as well. Provide further details.

I bought my 2002 chevy venture on 1/22/05.i realized about a week later that the passenger side power sliding door does not work when it is raining out.we can not operate it at all.we tried using the remote keyless entry, both of the interior buttons and pulling the handle on both the inside and outside of the door...none of these things work.as soon as the rain has gone and the van dries the door works fine.i have a call in to the dealership and they are acting like i may have to pay for this out of pocket, i don't think i should have to since this is a major malfunction and is also a safety risk for any of my passengers.

The windshield leaked water down through the overhead instrument clusteralong to thetop of the window. The vehicle stalled, hesitated during acceleration and the passenger window had become inoperative. The service tech found corrosion in some wires.*scc

The transmission in my wife's 2002 chevrolet venture failed with 57,000 miles on it. The transmission was repaired, and we retained the failed parts and inspected them. The cogs in thegear appearedto have snapped off . In my experience it appearedto be a heat treatmentproblem causing the material to be out of the brinell/rockwell hardness range. There was no advance warning of the failure.my wife just placed the gear shift lever in drive and the vehicle would not move.

My van was driving in the cold snow on an early morning.after driving about 40 miles very slowly, my transmission ceased.when i pulled to the stop light and applied the brakes, the vehicle did not move after that.prior to this happening i had had the vehicle into the dealer with intermittent concerns with going into reverse.eventually the vehicle would go into reverse, but it would hop into gear.

While driving at 50 mph, going on i287north in nj about 4:00 pm about to exit 2a, the car's engine sounded like a strong revving, and lost all power, furthermore it lost all gear, while parked on the side of the road, tried to reverse and change gears d 3 2 1 and it will not move to either direction, the transmission was blown out.

Put shift to park.exited vehicle.vehicle started moving in reverse.driver's door was open - ripped of by garage.finally jumped back into vehicle after it went down driveway, across street, & into neighbor's yard, stopped vehicle.looked at gear indicator - still read park.

Abs brake failure with awd disable. Abs light came on with awd disable message, both are connected. With abs failure, awd is disables. Failure required replacement of part. No consequences because it was summer and no snow, winter would have been different story. Only part that failed was replaced but there is a service bulletin and re-engineered part due to obvious problems. Bulletin is #03-05-25-004a. Concern is that abs and awd fail at same time, i feel this is a serious safety hazard in winter driving, the type you buy a awd for. I have contacted gm and the refuse to replace other part.

While driving there was a grinding, clunking noise accompanied by a whistling sound.the dealer replaced the differential.at 4,000 miles the grinding noise returned. The dealer had been contacted.

Takata recall i was driving and ran off the edge of the road and over corrected myself an hit an embankment head on and my face went into the steering wheel and then was thrown for the van out the back passenger window and the van then landed on my foot before i hit the roaddue to air bag never deploying my nose was torn about off my face and brook 4 ribs fractured 5 and my foot and ankle and foot was badly damaged my seat belt was put on but for some reason didn't work.

My wife was in an auto accident in which my five year old daughter was killed.my wife had properly secured ellie in her seat belt but she was ejected from the auto and died instantly in a low speed crash.she may have unbuckled or herself but our major concern is that the car had previous seat belt failure and we have the maintenance records to support this.

My 2yr old daughter was strangled last night in our 2002 chevy venture. The van has a built in toddler seat(may be called differ) well, she some how managed to have the "adult" seat belt wrap around her neck and then the seat belt tighten up. We could not get the belt off due to it being "locked." we opened the door, of course this is after a quick panic across lanes in the highway to exit the major highway we were driving on. Well, i had my son run over to "pep boys" and tell them there is a 2yr old that is chocking from a seatbelt the will not "let go" and we need something to cut the belt with. They were very helpful there at pep boys. My son managed to run back to us and hand me the emergency device to cut the belt and release our daughter. The was nothing we could do. We opened the door and had the van in park. I think if i and my son were not there, we may have one less member in our family today. Something needs to be done for this can never happen again.

While driving 35 mph, another vehicle merged intoconsumer's vehicle lane, causing a rear end collision. Child in the third row, center was ejected from the vehicle because seat belt failed to restrain him.

Seat belt on drivers side does not clip tightly when attempting to buckle.

While driving/parkingmiddle seat seat belts would not stay buckled.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Driver seat belt will not clip into locking mechanism.

Consumer complained abouta problem with the retainer clip on the integrated child seat.a four year old child was able to open the clip at will.on four different occasions a child had been able to open the clip and release herself.

Driver seat recliner handle broke off and seat is no longer restrained.

Several months ago, a hole appeared in the driver's seat of my year old chevrolet venture van. The dealership informed us that something about the way that the airbag was installed in the seat was causing problems and that they had replaced several seats in other venture's, both for the hole and the potential safety defect in the airbag.now, the same type of hole has appeared in the front passenger seat. The van is now 18 months old and has over 36,000 miles, so the dealer refused to be of any assistance with the problem.this is not an ordinary hole caused by wear. It was caused by a safety defect in the design of the seat which could affect the function of our side airbag, according to the dealers own remarks to us.should not a safety defect caused by poor design be covered by the manufacturer whether the vehicle is under warranty or not?

Dt: contact owns a 2002 chevrolet venture. Thefront driver's side seat broke. Seatbroke about one month ago. The back support.

We own a 2002 chevy venture. The hub sensors have failed and had to be replaced three times since we have purchased the vehicle. The nhsta just issued a recall-05v379000- for gm suv's and trucks with the same problem. Are you going to include the chevy venture. When the abs sensors fail our rotors have to be replaced and our brakes fail withen a short time of the failure of the sensor. I have tried to negotiate with gm and the dealer to take the vehicle back but to no avail.

Consumer states that the wheel sensors are not working causing the abs system to malfunction. Dealer stated that there is nation wide shortage on parts. Please provide additional information. Ts

I have a 2002 chevy venture that keeps blowing the rear brake lights.i keep changing them about once a month.

On the way to taking my son to work, i noticed a loud buzzing sound coming from the rear passenger side of my 2002 chevy venture van. Upon checking the dashboard for a warning signal, there weren't any warning light's displayed.i just recently had rear brake work done and i'm not sure if that is the problem. Also, i have been noticing a loud pitched whistling sound that starts at about 20 mph and stops at about 45 mph. There is a rattling noise that accompanies the whistling sound when the car is in acceleration.

My 2002 venture has lost the abs & awd systems several times, (which is no fun while driving on ice and snow).the dealer has fixed wiring, replaced sensors, and is know waiting for complete wheel asmblies for my van and at least 3 others.the dealer has furnished each of us with loaner vehicles while they await parts.i have been told that the 2003 venture has an upgraded system.the dealer has been very helpful, but i thought i should bring this to your attention, being that there was no mention of this problem on the &#34;web&#34;.i wasn't aware of others having problems until this last incident and the service manager mentioned that i wasn't the only one having problems.please contact me if you need further information, also let me know if this has been a larger nationwide problem.

While driving approximately 15 mph brakes failed. While applying the brake pedal went to floor. Was able to avoid accident by pulling into a parking lot. When turning the car off then back on, brake failure light comes on.

Chevy venture 2002 w/83732 miles.to whom it may concern:anti-lock-abs light, intermittent abs indicator light.started having issues with the anti-lock brakes system, when issue started the abs lightindicator light would intermittently flash and the abs would by itself tried to engaged while car was running.this made driving the vehicle very dangerous because the abs would tryto engage while running not braking. On may 2, 2002, i took the van to local dealership to have it diagnosed for the abs light on.they detected a left rear defective speed sensorand they advised me to have it repair for a total cost of $741.00 which i declined.i then called gm to inquire about any service bulletins and/or recalls on my minivan, gm found none and they declined to assist with this repair.glen at gm stated that the defective speed sensor had failed because of the age of the vehicle and the driving environment where vehicle is driven (illinois=snow=salt=corrosion).i do feel that there is a defective part within the abs braking system and to be more specifically, the speed sensor.i will not be buying another gm product.i would be very happy to see a safety recall on this issue.thank you very much for your assistance in this matter.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

When the brake was applied, the pedal went all the way to the floor.

I own a 2002 chevy venture and had the problem of abs dis-engaging and the abs warning light come on intermittently at first when the car is in motion (mostly at low speeds) and then permanently. The first two times i took it to the dealership, i was told that there were problems with brakes and tires. I got them replaced and even then the problem persisted. Finally, i was told that the front left hub assembly needed to be changed and it was done at no cost to me (the car is under manufacturer's warranty). During the time the hub assembly was changed, i got an uncomfortable feeling that i was not being given the reason for the abs problem in a straight forward way.i now see that certain chevrolet vehicles (venture is not one of them) have been recalled for a front end hub assembly problem. The symptom for the recallseems a little different but i would like the nhtsa to investigate and make sure that chevy venture does not have the same hub assembly corrosion problem.the incident date i mention below is the latest incident date, but i have had the problem at least for the past six months.

Consumer complained about anabs brake system problem. Abs brakes were repaired at least 6 times. Consumer stated all wheel drive became disabled when the abs brakes malfunctioned.*mr

*scc

While traveling on the highway and without prior warning the abs braking light appear on the dashboard. Also, brake pedal goes all the way down to the floor.please fill in additional information dealer is aware of the problem.

The design of the abs on the 2002 chevy venture (awd) is that the abs is tied to the awd for traction control.the front left and right abs sensors have cracked 4 times in the past 2 years on our vehicle, with the 5th time occurring this month.when the abs sensors (hub assembly) malfunctions, it disengages the awd.while the abs and awd should be tied together for traction control, they should not disengage each other.in addition, there is no warning when the abs malfunctions, and once it malfunctions, it does not stay malfuntioned.this means that the next time you start the vehicle, the abs warning light is no longer on. If you are braking at the time of the malfunction, it is very difficult to stop, which could result in an accident.we bought the venture specifically for the awd feature, and it is unfortunate that due to poor design or lack of quality control on the part, we do not have the reliability of the awd, not to mention the possible accident(s) that could occur.

2002 chevy venture with 62000 miles.have replaced right front hub and harness etc 2 times (jan 3, 2003 at 10800 miles and feb 22, 2006 at 62000 miles left front hub, harness etc july 17, 2003 at 19800 miles all by dealers.abs inoperative shorted module awd disable from above.

Constant problems with abs/awd system. This van has been at the dealer 13 times and going to be 14 soon for the same issues. In only 18 months. Hubs have been replaced both on my ownership and prior to my ownership. Wiring harnesses have been repaired and the problem remains. Now just driving the abs computer activates, as well as now when you stop the computer keep activating for about 3 seconds after complete stop. Gm has been notifyed and can not respond for 6 days. It is only a matter of time before the system causes a complete brake system failure, will this happen before someone forces a repair? or will it wait until somebody is critically injured or dies? i would like to think that the government could jump in and not waist time doing so. Just on this site it has been documented 20 times, complaint numbers, 80005017, 10002188, 10014288, 10021976, 10040887, 10051990, 10057579, 10064377, 10069872, 10059752, 10083334, 10060961, 10103060, 10105875, 10108658, 10134831, 10135162, 10135981, 10170423, 10183334. The dealer has tried to repair this problem but to no avail.

Abs/awd disable light comes on. Have replaced left front hub/speed sensor assembly twice. Replaced right front hub/speed sensor once. Parts availability and reliability have been a constant issue. Continuous failures in recent months.

Last year i took my venture into the dealer to have it looked over because the check engine light was on, all of a sudden i had 3 lights on.i had no traction control or abs. After having the service dept. Look at my vehicle, i was told it was a sensor in the left rear wheel.since i have discovered that other owners have had similar problems, i think gm should get involved.the part was extremely expensive so i've had to go without for the last year.

Brake rotors rusted. As a result, the brakes wore out prematurely.

For the last two years, i had to replace the rear wheel cylinders and brakes. Replacing the brakes was necessary due to the fact that the leaking wheel cylinders lubricant got onto the brake shoes.

Something broke inside steering column , rack & pinon. 100% lost control of steering. Vehicle was in motion when attempt to turn.

I took my 2002 chevrolet venture in for a wheel alignment, my mechanic called back and said the front tie rods were in imminent danger of failing.he recommended that they be replaced, and they were. Another example of shoddy, we don't care workmanship from gm.

The windshield leaked water down through the overhead instrument clusteralong to thetop of the window. The vehicle stalled, hesitated during acceleration and the passenger window had become inoperative. The service tech found corrosion in some wires.*scc

Paint peeling on the body's exterior along with surface rust that was denied repair because chevy and the gm dealer informed us after 3 years 36,000 miles the corrosion must be rusted through the body it self resulting in a hole.warranty expired 08/2008 and now 02/2009 there are signs of rust through corrosion that could possibly bear the consequence of failing a safe pa state vehicle inspection.

The automatic door failed to release from the interior and a child's finger became caught in the door.the consumer had to use a crowbar to release the child's finger.

The vehicle is a rental vehicle.cusotmer rented the van and went out to the lot to put his belongins in the vehicle.when he pulled on the handle to close the hatch, the plastic housing broke and the handle came loose, there is a metal bold that was attached to the plastic, that piece cut the customers hand right hand, between his thumb and index finger.his wound was cleaned by the first aid at the airport and then we transported him to del sol medical center where his wound was sealed with medical "glue" instead of stitches and he received a tetanus shot.

The rear handle on the rear hatch broke, the plastic housing that holds the handle broke, like if the plastic is not strong enough to support the forces exerted on the handle.

Abs/awd disable light comes on. Have replaced left front hub/speed sensor assembly twice. Replaced right front hub/speed sensor once. Parts availability and reliability have been a constant issue. Continuous failures in recent months.

Original dot tire # was on tires the dealer replaced and we paid for. On both occasionsi was going slowwhen i heard noise of a tire going flat. I havebag the dealer gave to my husband that contains a portion of tire fragments and debris like it just peeled off. This car was purchased new and these were the original tires that came with the car. Luckily i was going slow and not on the interstate. There was a puncture on both tires but this could also be from the separation of the tread or driving on it til i could get off the road into a safe place. I would be glad to take a picture of the debris from the 2nd flat/blow-out . I had no trouble like this with my 1st chevy venture and believe i should have had many more miles on them--now i wonder if the other 2 are going to go also.

Bulge in sidewall parallel and same size as the "f" next to firestone name on tire. Inspection revealed that sidewall had separated. (dot number: bcb3301tiresize: p215/70r15)

Under normal driving conditions, the air compressor was determined to have cracked.this causes the release of the freon and over a $1,000 in repairs.it appears that other gm vehicles are having the same problem with their compressor's as well.the vehicle involved is a 2002 chevrolet venture.

I had a traumatic experience with our 2002 chevrolet venture mini-van.when the van is turned off and the keys are out, the power windows and radio are still functional for several minutes or until the door is opened.my 3 year old son and i were sitting in the van today with the windows rolled down waiting for preschool to start.my son was in the front passenger seat with his head out the window when he accidentally hit the power window switch.the window started to raise up and close with his head still in the window.fortunately i had the presence of mind to hit the switch to roll the window down.john wasn't hurt, but he was very scared, and i was too.i checked my manual to see if my van has a window locking feature, but it does not appear to have that.my reason for this complaint is to make the manufacturer and parents aware of this danger and to see if something can be done to prevent this from happening to someone else.john could have been seriously hurt, and i am still shaking an hour later.*la

I am in the process of trying to work with gm to get the passenger side automatic, power sliding door replaced with a manual sliding door.file number at gm is 1-112050633 filed on 6/23/03.we have yet to speak to mr. Kevin drew at gm who is handling our complaint.we have left numerous messages for him.my 9-year old son got his fingers caught in the sliding door as it was closing.he was on the inside of the van and got them caught in the back edge of the door (towards the rear seat).the automatic sliding door would not release to get his fingers out of the door.we had to finally use a crowbar to get his fingers out.we would have had to call rescue personnel to get him out if we had been somewhere where we did not have access to tools.it was a very traumatic experience for my son as well as the entire family.

The consumer noticed a day after he purchased the vehicle, that the windsheild leaked water down through the instrument cluster along the top of the window.*scc

The windshield wipers deposited all the snow and water from the upper portion of the windshield down into the bottom area which created a major ice build up and caused the defroster not to heat the bottom portion of the windshield.

During cold weather the windshield wipers would stick in the lock position causing a distraction to the consumer. Dealer notified.ph

Verland is an icf/mr facility in sewickley pa.we use our vehicles daily to transport our clients to their programs, dr's. Appts, etc.we purchased a 2002 chevrolet venture mini van in november 2001.the same van has had 3 instances where the wheel studs have broken and the front tire has come loose.our staff has noticed the problem and gotten off of the road before any accident has happened.we have contacted chevrolet as well as the selling dealer and they refuse to acknowledge that this is a problem with the van and they have put the blame on us.the latest failure was on 12/10/02 and a tow truck was called to tow the van to a chevrolet dealer.the tow truck driver commented that he had never seen this problem occur on any vehicle, let alone a new van, and he was an impartial observer to the problem.i was informed by this chevrolet dealership that the problem wouldn't be covered by chevrolet and the cost was $401.32.this van has 23,000 miles and should still be covered under the "bumper to bumper" warranty.i am not looking for anything except to have the van repaired.we have been lucky that we have had no injuries to our staff or clients as well as the general public yet.any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
