Noticed fluid leaking. Took the van to dealer for repair/replace head gasket. 41000 miles on the vehicle. Never overheated engine.
I have a 2001 venture with an airbag light that occasionally comes on.dealer says that it is a faulty sensor in the seat belt.dealer and gm customer service both claim no responsibility for a defective srs on a vehicle with less than 48,000 miles.i contend that the safety restraint system should last the life of the vehicle if it is not damaged due to wear or abuse.i contend that gm is liable if my srs fails.
Traveling 45-50 mph with green light in 2001 chevy venture mini-van, car turned abruptly in front of us, we struck them in the passenger side. All 4 in our vehicle wearing seat belts but neither airbag deployed. Both vehicles were totaled. *nlm
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that while involved in a crash, the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and minor injuries were sustained. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000. The vin was not available.updated 10/2/14 updated 05/12/2015
Airbag light comes on intermittently. Dealer has been contacted.
We were traveling north bound going about 60 mph on hwy 99 just north of sacramento. An ambulance cut in front of us and slowed down. The right front of the 2001 chevy venture struck the left rear end of the ambulance. The air bags did not deploy my daughter injured her hand and legs. I injured my sternum, bruised my stomach, and injured my right leg. We do have pictures showing that the air bags did not deploy.
I was involved in a accident in my 2001 chevrolet venture.we where driving at a speed of 45 mph, when a car pulled out in front of us.we hit him broadside at 30-45 mph.our vehicle then spun around and was hit broadside on the drivers side by another vehicle.the front nor the side passenger airbags deployed.our vehicle was totaled.
My daughter and i were involved in a collision at approx 65mph with a 24' flatbed trailer that detached itself from a vehicle headed the opposite direction.my van had severe frontal/right frontal damage.on star was notified upon impact-by the air bag deployment sensors-and dispatched ems for me.the driver, passenger and side air bags did not deploy. The on star system shows they did.
Had intermitant airbag light, repaired by dealer under warranty. Dealer fixed drivers side seat belt retractor. Then had 40 mph front end crash, front and side airbags failed to deploy. Sdm has history of failure on this van. Contacted gm, they stated 'no issue - case closed'. Needs to be addressed. I am an automotive engineer, all conditions should have been met in this crash for airbag deployment.
Vehicle was involved in a collision in which driver's air bag did not deploy.cause unknown.consumer states there were 2 injuries and one fatality.
I was in a accident going between 30 to 32 mph and hit a car with the front of the van. The other car was struck on the driver side of the car. Neither of the air bags in my venture van went off. The front bumper, headlight assembly, grill and hold were all damaged. The fire department and police department wanted to make sure that i make a complaint with you because they stated that both air bags should have went off. As far as i know there is no switch to turn either air bag off.
Was driving vehicle at approximately 35 mph when vehicle in front stopped short.appliedbrakes and pedal went to the floor, failing to stop vehicle. Vehicle infront was rear-ended. Air bags failed to deploy upon impact.please describe details.
Dt*:the contact stated while driving 35 mph approaching an intersection the vehicle in front made a u turn which resulted in a collision. The consumers vehicleimpacted the other vehicle on the rear left side. The air bags did not deploy.a police report was filed at the scene of the accident.the fire department was also present. Updated 08/29/06.
While driving at 30 mph the vehicle was involved in a head on collision.upon impact, the driver and passenger side air bags did not deploy.the consumer sustaineda fractured sternum and was hospitalized.another vehicle also hit the consumers vehicle in the rear.the vehicle was declared totaled. *sc
Consumer's vehicle broadsided another vehiicle at 20-25 mph and neither air bag deployed.dealer andmanufacturer were notified. Feel free to provide any further information.
The consumer was involved in a collision with a trailer that became detached from another consumer's vehicle and none of the air bags deployed.
Integrated child safety seat that is equipped with buckle assembly that is positioned between child's legs. This has caused child's testicles to swell. *jg
Harness strap on the integrated child seat does not lock in place, and can easily come undone.
In a low speed, low impact crash, the chest clip on the integral child safety seat came open.my son had marks on his sholders.harmon chevrolet ordered a new seat, but the new one performed the same way.the chest strap is weak enough for my four year old to push his chest against it when strapped in and pop it open.harmon contacted gm and was informed that the seat was designed to open in a crash.i am very concerned that if a minor crash caused marks that a high impact crash would break his back when he was impelled forward.i have never heard of a child car seat being designed to come open and am quite convinced that the opposite is supposed to happen.the seat is very poorly designed in that there is a hard bar situated directly under the buttocks and is unsafe in that it will not protect a child in a crash.i would truly like to see these flaws fixed promptly.
Harness of child safety seat will not tighten any longer. Once tightened it will not lock. This part was replaced under warranty in july 2001.
I was told it had intermittent rear lighting problem (driver side rear lights would go in and out) when purchasing vehicle used in 2012 with160,000 miles, 90% highway. Had repaired immediately for safety, legal and state required annual inspections (or so i thought).within 3 months/75 miles later, it started again. Entire wiring harness and light assembly was replaced, to no avail. Before i could take it in again, both rear lights intermittently stopped working. Passenger side wiring harness and light assembly replaced. It wasn't fixed.and before i could get it back in the shop, the frontpassenger sidelights started the same thing.new mechanic assures me, " don't worry, there are many things i can try!"little consolation for the drivers behind me or for me from being pulled over by & ticketed or when i need the va state mandatory "annual inspection" sticker. They are able to get them to work long enough but again, at what cost?meanwhile, the intermittent problem moved to the passenger front lights, when hitting brakes i see that flashers start to work.all of the mechanics are "putting a band-aid on a broken arm". & ii'm paying dearly each and every time.they now want to replace things in the steering wheel but i want chevrolet to correct the problem this time or tell the mechanics what to do.this is a mini-van that i drive back and forth to the grocery and school, .5 miles - 5 miles a way 3-4 times a week.
Tail lamp failure due to water egress.item is a 2001 chevy venture tail lamp circuit board socket.nature of design is a 4 bulb in-line circuit board socket holder, its mounted with electrical connector at the top, thus allowing water to enter the socket holder via wires and connector.water floods tail lamp and shorts out the tail lamp.over time the steel circuit plate wires become corroded and can no longer make a complete circuit, thus very dim or no tail lamp lights.
My 2001 chevrolet venture caught fire while in my garage. It burned to a total loss. It also caused a measure of smoke damage to my garage. The vehicle had 54,000 miles on it. The situation was extremely dangerous, as it could have caught my garage or even my home on fire. There were absolutely no warnings or indications that anything was wrong prior to the incident. It seems to be quite a defect.

My mother purchased the vehicle brand new in 2001, it has been a problem since she brought it home. Turn signals have never worked properly, headlights fill up with water causing them to burn out, interior lights don't work properly. I acquired the vehicle after her passing in 2012 . The van only has 66000 miles on it and i've had to replace the lights 6 times since i've had it. When she had it she took it back to the dealership several times only to have the same problems happen again. I recently ran into someone that was in the same make, model and yr vehicle at a gas station, he asked me if i had any electrical issues and of course i said yes..this van is a disaster waiting to happen.. Why is there not a recall on this lemon?
Tail lights would illuminate dimly on the dash and then fail to operate.this created a dangerous situation when turning.replaced both tail light circuit boards and pigtails.
Purchasedvan july 2001.i have discontinued putting my son in installed child seat because he complains it hurts his legs; when he goes to get out he can't hardly walk;i think the position of the seat causes his legs to go to sleep.since purchase of van i have had it in for service several times.(1) i complained of vibration in thefront when i got up to a speed over 50 mph; the service techs could not find anything wrong.(2) i complained of (while traveling) hearing air ventilation (like a window was down) on the passenger side; nothing was found.(3) when purchased the vehicle we stated our concern that door did not retract immediately.i put my arm in to demonstrate; it pinched my arm and bruised it before it finally retracted(4) i have also had my van in complaining that the cd player did not operate properly.they said it was defective and replaced my entire radio/cd.(5) complained that while driving (noticing at night) my headlights would dim and come back on.after not finding anything they replaced the alternator.it is again happening.(6) recent concern is while on an upward hill at a red light water started coming in through the storage compartment between the visors.now they are declaring that the windshield was not properly sealed when it was installed.i have had this vehicle now for almost two years.my thought is that it may have been leaking but now just to the point that i am noticing it.how much damage has it caused in my head liner, etc. That they will not be able to detect with the naked eye and is the air ventilation that i was hearing a result of the windshield not being sealed; and is the water leakage causing my shortage in the wiring of the lights and radio, etc.my concern is later down the road will i have more deteriorating problems because of water damage that could not be seen at this point.*nlm
No brake lights on my van all fuses are good and so are the bulbs.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture.while driving at any speed, all of the dashboard lights dim.the vehicle operates normally, despite the failure.the vehicle has been inspected four times for the failure.the instrument panel was replaced, which corrected the failure temporarily.as of july 30, 2007, the failure still persists.the current mileage was 120,000 and failure mileage was 78,913.

Van was making scratching noise upon cranking.took van in for service and was notified that the battery was leaking acid and needed to be replaced.the van had 48,000 miles at the time.battery was replaced.same thing happened 2 weeks ago, took van in, new battery was leaking acid.the second battery only had 42,000 miles on it at this time.battery had to be replaced once again.
Vehiclestalled intermittently without warning while driving. Vehicle was taken to the dealer and they founded that the intake manifold was cracked and caused coolant to leaks inside the engine.also has problem whit the alternator.
A/c quit working. Took it to the dealership and they said there was a crack in the condencer.on several different occasions the horn has honked while driving down the road. When the van is in drive you let off the brake and it rolls forward and the same in reverse, it rolls. Ak
Transmission slips after sitting when first starting out;horn honks occasionally while driving; power sliding door on driver's side won't open/close when activated by button or remote switches;hard starts after driving and sitting briefly (especially after highway driving--tried different gas stations gasses).taken to two different dealers mostly about transmission and they claim unless the check engine light comes on, they can't do anything about it.going to take back and have it stay there until they reproduce this week.
2001 chevrolet venture mini-van. Consumer writes regarding problem with vehicle horn *tgwthe consumer stated the horn was difficult to locate, when attempting to use it.the consumer stated it took several pushes/presses to eventually sound the horn.
Dt: the horn blew about once a month without warning for only a secondsafter driving about 30 miles down the road.this happened on its own.has not takenvehicle to a dealer or contacted manuafacturer.no clue as to why this happened.no repairs have been made.
Vehicle has stalled 3 times at 60 mph.dealer has replacedcomputer twice.but itdid notsolveproblem.
2001 chevrolet venture experiencing problems with the engine. ***no answer required***. *mrthe starter relay secured next to the radiator cap is susceptible to rain water and as a result the starter would not disengage.
Smoke was emitting from the dash, once consumer arrived home, he found both wires on the brake lamp were burned off.vehicle was taken to repair shop. *jg
Consumer states the brake light fuses began to burn out.*jgwhen this occurred the vehicle had not brake lights.the vehicle was returned to the dealer for repairs.after the vehicle was returned tot he consumer the fuse blew again.the vehicle was returned to the dealer several more times but search time the problem recurred.the consumer decided to take the vehicle to a local dealer.while driving to the local dealer smoke became to come from underneath the dash.it was later determined that both brae lamp switches had burned off.the vehicle was taken to the local dealer.after several attempts they were unable to rectify the problem.
Consumer has been having dash panel light problems. She stated that vehicle had been in repair shop 5 times.once the mechanic replaced the switch that turned on the lightsbecause there wasan electricalshort in the switch.then, she was told that a lot ofproblems occurredbecause left turn signal was locking up.
While drivingdash board lights would start flashing off and on. Consumer would have no idea how fast she was going.vehicle was taken to the dealer, andcontrol panel cluster was replaced.less than six months later, problem occurred again.currently, vehicle is in the shop again for the same thing.
Car will speed up on its own and accelerate. The venture will also over heat after running for 10 min. Or so. This van likes to stall while driving and you must keep your foot on the brake or gas to prevent this from happening while driving. Transmission has been slipping since i got the car. Only owned it less than a year, now it made a loud clanking noise last night and now it will not go in drive only in reverse. You have to shift gears on the steering column only and even then it's debatable if it will run.
We were driving on the freeway and noticed the heat gauge starting to rise very quickly to the red zone. The engine stalled and once the temp came down we proceeded to an auto parts store. There we purchased a thermostat, radiator cap, and 2 gallons of premix dex-cool. We installed the new cap and filled system with the dex-cool. We drove about 7 miles to a lake for a day of fishing. The inaccessibility of the thermostat, i could not change the thermostat that day. After sitting (not running) we started for home (60 miles). We had only gone about 10 miles when it overheated for the first time. We could only go about 10 miles before we'd have to stop and let the van cool down and add more coolant and water. It took 6 hours to get home.over the next couple of days the overheating problem continued. On 28apr2014 we had the van towed to a local (reputable) auto shop. The next day we were informed that the intake manifold was leaking and would have to be repaired before they could pressure test the system to check the other components (radiator, radiator cap, etc.) the cost of just the intake repair was estimated at $1500-$2500. I have been researching the issue online and found that this is a common issue with these vans because of the dex-cool being a plasticizer and an aluminum corrosive. Also found out that gm has known of this problem but have chose not to fix the problem. I have had recalls on other vehicles (for a less problem) because the manufacturers said ok we have this problem so to keep our customers we'll fix it, but not gm. It wouldn't be so bad if gm even tried to fix this issue. We are middle-class and have a hard time making ends meet and can't afford this kind of expense.

Temperature gauge fluctuated up and down.engine took long to warm up. Consumer took vehicle to the dealer, and dealer determinedlower intake gaskets leaked.dealer replaced intake gaskets.*la
Coolant loss, and temperature problems led me to mechanic, assuming it was a thermostat.he traced problem to leaking intake gaskets.vehicle only has 47,000 miles on it!cost $532 for 6+ hour job to replace faulty intake gaskets.gm should have issued a recall for this; they obviously know about their faulty gaskets, because the set now offered is a "new and improved set".
Similar problems with cooling system as reported by other posts.purchased vehicle new.serviced at shop regularly.at 60,000 miles the supposed "100,000 mile" cooling system suddenly developed leak in lower intake.as the temperature gauge rose into the hot, i turned the engine off to let it cool off.when i drove it to the shop (maybe driving a total of 10 miles after problem started), shop diagnosed it as lower intake gasket leak.the manual says it has a engine safety feature to alternately fire the cylinders to keep heads from blowing.didn't work for me.both head gaskets blown.warped heads.had to have heads shaved.$2000 repair bill during a vacation at a gm shop.the shop put on "newer gaskets"this isn't right!
Car was bought new, serviced as per manufacturer's recommendations. The lower intake gasket was leaking antifreeze. Had to replace intake gaskets and seals, replace oil pump drive seal, flushed crank case.
The lower intake gaskets leakfluid, which could cause the engine to overheat and stall. Manufacturer will be contacted by consumer.
At 35,000 miles, intake gasket failure, coolant leaked into intake, repair covered by warranty. At 68,000 miles intake gasket failure along with head gasket failure, coolant leaked into crankcase contaminating oil. Was recommended by mechanic at the repair shop to replace engine and did. The new used engine had a intake gasket failure along with a head gasket failure 36,000 miles after installation. Informed by mechanic that a new gasket kit came out for this engine to fix the gasket failures with the 3.4 liter. Both engines had the same problem. It is obvious to me that this is a engineering flaw by gm. I feel gm should cover the cost of this gasket failure.
I purchased the vehicle brand new in 2001.since then, my vcr that is installed in the venture was defective and repaired four times.each time under warranty but it was inconvienent for me.the brakes went out on me twice that i repaired at a mechanic, then the a/c wouldn't cool (this is recently), now the oxygen sensor is causing the "service engine" message on my dash board to light up.this car is only 2 years old!!!i maintain my car well, the manager of the chevrolet dealership tried to accomodate me (once) so that i won't make a fuss and call the media on them.i was not aware of the lemon law until recently.
Heater suddenly stopped functioning on very cold day was initial indication there was a problem. After having extensive diagnostics done and many repairs later temperature gauge still goes into red and no heat coming into cabin when heater turns on. This seems to be a widespread problem as i have done much research, and people seem to be stuck with high repair bills just like me because they made the unfortunate decision to purchase a vehicle that came off the assemble with a flawed design in the cooling system/ head gaskets.
Fax from consumer (oh) re the problem he and his wife had with the head gaskets in their 2001 chevrolet malibu and 2001 chevrolet venture.the head gasket was leaking coolant into the oil system.
2001 chevy venture with 150k miles. Car gets hot very quickly...within few mins of driving the hot temp coolant light goes on and the needle in the red zone. Replaced temp sensor, thermostat, radiator cap and hose. Took to three mechanics and chevy dealer for a diagnostic test. Head gaskets needed to be replaced. Researched year, make and model and many listed for same issue.
Fax fm (oh) re the problem he and his wife had w/the head gaskets in their 2001 chevrolet malibu & 2001 chevrolet venture.***reference 10154062***the head gasket was leaking coolant into the oil system.
Dt:the contact stated temperature gauge was going up anddown. The dealer told him the thermometer was not working. He picked up the car and in 3 three days later the car blew up. He had it towed a week later they told him a new engine was needed. It has been 5 weeks since he took the vehicle to the dealer, they still have not fixed it. On the 2nd day after he bought the car the air conditionerwas not working.
As the vehicle idled in traffic, the temperature gauge crept into the hot zone, then slowly went back to normal when 50 mph or more was achieved.the fuel gauge began to fluctuate from e to f.the consumer ran out of gas not knowing how much gasoline wasin the vehicle.the consumer is outraged by the problems she faced with her new car and the service she received.*tc

Vehicle cooling system is faulty. My research and experience proves this point and chevy needs to be held accountable! at approx 120k, the engine overheats and the vehicle cannot be driven like that. Mechanical replaced intake gasket for $1100 and recomended changing the head gasket for an additional $1000 but could not afford that. 1 year later, same problem, overheating and cannot drive with that, mechanic tests and finds faulty head gasket, $2000+ estimate, will not pay that for a faulty cooling system. Legal resolve to be sought, please contact me if you can to assist or join a potential class-action suit!
Our vehicle is a 2001. Has 62,000 miles.the condenser went on the vehicle.we were told that alot of the condenser are going in the 2001 chevrolet venture.have you done any investigating or recalls, or reimbursement ?thank you
I have a 2001 chevrolet venture.the end of last summer the rear air conditioner needed to be fixed.now the condenser needs to be replaced which is a $500.00 part a few months after the warranty expired.a co-worker owns a 2002 venture.she had to replace the condenser last week and while she was there there were other ventures there with the same problem.i called my dealership and was informed that they have had several in with the same problem.when i contacted general motors, i was notified that there is no recall.abviously there's a problem.there's no reason why a three year old vehicle needs to have the air conditioning repaired.
I have been trying to get my a/c condenser fixed with gm.i have gone through many different representatives and all they say is that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle that are no recalls or nothing, but would like to give me a $2000 gm certificate to the next purchase of a gm vehicle.i have been researching my 2001 chevrolet venture van and have found that there are many others with the same problem as mine.the condenser is cracked on the right side.a faulty part.the service bulletin that i found on this part, that gm states that there is no such thing, states that there is an updated part for this condenser.would you not think if there is an "updated" part there might be something wrong???also it states that it takes 2 hours to fix, the dealership states it takes 5 hours pretty big difference.i like my van and have no other problems with it.the a/c went out after only having the van 2 years, in which my warranty had already expired like most peoples do.i travel extensively, so warranties do not last long.i enjoy my van.the only thing i'm asking is for a replaced condenser.i think if gm knew there was a problem they should recall this part and be honest when you try to contact them.
When our van (2001 chevy venture) reached about 75000 miles, we noticed the temperature on the gauge rising. I contacted our mechanic and he recommended flushing the cooling line and changing the thermostat. I took the van in and had the cooling system flushed and the thermostat changed. At that time he noticed a coolant leak below the intake. Now that the cooling system has been flushed and the thermostat changed i was hoping to not see a fluctuation in the temperature. I was wrong, the temperature is still fluctuating and now i notice when it gets hot the car shifts very rough. He recommended i contact a gm dealer and have them look at it, due to the venture van being known for this issue and hopefully gm would cover the cost. I have contacted the local gm dealer and have an appointment this week. I searched the internet and found several others with this same issue and i hope that gm steps up to fix the problem.
Intake manifold leaks, causes engine to overheat which resulted headswere warping. My family and i were traveling eastbound on i-10 coming home from our family vacation fromdisneylandand heading back to phoenix azwhen the engine overheated on the2001 chevroletventure minivan. We waited on the side of the road in the desert for the engine to cool to add water into the radiator. 45 minutes later the engine cooled enough to add the water and for some reason it would not draw the water out of the reservoir. The engine would not start. We calledthe state policeand a highway patrolman came out and could not do anything for us. He called a tow truck and we were charged $250.00 to be towed 25 miles from where we were to the truck stop at tonapah. He wanted $700.00 to tow us home to chandler, az.however, a friend came to our rescue by towing us home with a strap from his truck. By the time we got to the 101 freeway in the east valley the battery died, adding to the drama and stress of the evening. We finally got home after 1 am , we were expected at5 pm. I was told by the mechanic at the chevrolet dealer that the headswere on national back order because offaulty intake manifold, and it was a well known problem in engines over 75,000 miles , we have 77000 miles, causing the engine to over heat and damagingit.
Our 2001 chevrolet venture's intake manifold gasket has failed, allowing coolant into the engine oil. We started having trouble with it in january 2007. The check engine light came on and we took it in to our mechanic. He checked the cooling system and found the thermostat was not working properly. It was replaced. In june 2008, we noticed a loss of coolant. We took it in to our mechanic again. He did a coolant system check and found nothing wrong, replaced possible leaking hose. Once again we were losing coolant. We took into our mechanic again (third times a charm). Could fine nothing wrong with cooling system, did diagnostic and found a leak in the intake manifold gasket. We had no warning, no check engine light, no over heating since earlier time. The main problem is the coolant was going inside the engine, no outside leaking to warn us. The car stalled and died on us, luckily it was at a stop light. It could have caused a major accident if i was driving on freeway going 65. It has been parked at my house, non-op with dmv. Gm has admitted to me during more than one call that they have known about this problem for some time, but refuse to fix it. They say they are waiting for the nhtsa to put out a mandatory recall before they will fix any problems. There are thousands of people with this same problem. The 3.1ll and 3.4l v-6 engines were put in all body types and different gm makes and models. Now some v-8's and newer models are coming down with the same problem.according to internal memo's from gm, they have known about this problem since 2000.dex-cool seems to be the culprit. It is a known plasticizer (softens plastic) and is corrosive to aluminum. The gasket on the intake manifold is made of plastic and the some of the manifolds and or parts are made of aluminum. Dex-cool degrades hoses, gaskets and also rusts aluminum, causing a sludge to build up into the engine. Why would any one put this corrosive material into an engine on purpose?
There are no events leading up to the failure, the fans do not operate in the van nor does the a/c.this is my second venture and it is the second time it has happened.the car overheats without the fans running.
The gas line was under pressure at all times. Connector cracked and shot gas beneath vehicle and upon the hood.driver felt lucky the vehicle didn't blow up.
Leaking intake gasket, in the process of having it repaired.
2001 chevy venture 12 months old approx 14,000 miles, radiator seam split right lower corner leaking antifreeze.ac also stopped working, condenser seam split, right lower corner.replaced by dealer.vehicle now 18 months old approx 21,000 miles, ac stopped working.condenser seam split lower right front corner.dealer replaced.appears to be a structural defect in design stressing the radiator and condenser via the mounting scheme. Vehicle is a lemon.first time repaired dealer had to order condenser.this time repaired he had 3 in stock!
The chevy venture fails to maintain fuel levels at appropriate intervals.this constitutes frequent stops and panicking over when and where to get the next tank of gas, resulting in loss of income and causing wide spread hunger.
The service engine light illuminated.the vehicle was taken to a repair shop where a mechanic determined nothing was wrong.the manufacturer is aware of the problem.please provide further details. *nlm
Dt*:the contact stated the check engine light illuminated, the temperature gauge failed, and the vehicle was running slow.the dealership determined there was a blown head gasket.
Vehicle has stalled 3 times at 60 mph.dealer has replacedcomputer twice.but itdid notsolveproblem.

I am currently trying to get gm to honor my warranty for catalytic converter that is bad.i made the original request for a part to be ordered on march 15, 2006.on june 29, 2006,i contacted my insurance company geico because i had a mechanical breakdowninsurance on my vehicle and they basically said that there is nothing that they can do at this time because gm will have to replace the part under warranty.it is now 5 1/2 months later and i still do not have a catalytic converter for my vehicle.i have contacted gm on two separate occasions.i could not get an inspection sticker due to the fact that it would fail the emissions test required by east baton rouge parish, louisiana.my sticker is now expired and has been since june 30, 2006.i have contacted mr. Ted trimble, epa emissions and warranty dept, on two separate occasions but i can not get a return phone call concerning my problem. Who do i speak to now!my van is emitting trash into the air.does anybody there care?gm is telling me that the manufacturer of the part is asking too much money for the part and gm doesn't want to pay it.that is flat out not honoring a warranty.
Egr valve failure.
Possible safety defect in the way vent line is attached in the gas tank and possible deficiency in the way emission service was performed.this is because consumer noticed odor of gas in vehicle.(nar) *la
Vehiclestalled intermittently without warning while driving. Vehicle was taken to the dealer and they founded that the intake manifold was cracked and caused coolant to leaks inside the engine.also has problem whit the alternator.
3.4 v6 gasket for intake manifold failure, coolant leaking at 25,000 miles.took to dealer and fixed it but had to have engine flushed for 300.00,they didnt charge me to fix gasket.dealer knows this is a problem with this engine, his hands are tied.i will get rid of this van[venture 2001].please check all other cars vans with this engine, alero, impala, montecarlo, venture ect.... They all have this same problem!!! gm wake up!!! stop selling us junk!!
Consumer noticed an oil puddle in the driveway after having an oil change performed.this occurred because of a defectiveintake manifold gasket.the dealership replaced the intake manifold gasket twice with a new designed intake manifold gasket.after three successful oil changes, the oil began to leak from the engine.the mechanic at the dealer stated that the this was a common problem for this model because the original gasket had a defect and it had been replaced by the newly designed gasket. *sc

Air conditioning condenser leaking.dealer wants $1000 to repair. This is a known defect on this condenser, bad welds, yet gm takes no fault even though tens of thousands of these have failed. With asthma, i need a/c and this vehicle is no safe without it.
My 2001 chevy venture's air conditioning condenser obtained a crack, causing the ac fluid to leak out and not function.vehicle is at 39000 miles and barely out of warranty.speaking with parts dept at a local dealer, apparently this is a common problem caused by normal flexing of the vehicle's framework, and a costly one to repair (abt $850.00 parts and labor). The consumer should not need to pay for design defects like this.ac condensers are not a component that routinely crack, especially in vehicles this new.
Dt:consumer hada 2001 chevrolet venture. Theair conditionercondenser cracked and freon leaked out. Consumerfound a technical service bulletin concerning thisproblem. Consumer felt that because he transports his children it was a safety issue.dealership stated this happenedin manyof these vehicles. .
1. Normal operation2. Air condition system failure. 3. Had dye, refrigerant & seal conditioner installedinitially system ok but, over night refrigerant leaked down. No evidence of dye in motor compartment.
Dt:air conditioner condenser leaked.the consumer was told by a local repair shop that there were about a thousand of these condensers replaced in the last months.the condenser leaked from the lower left side from a faulty weld.
Purchased this mini-van usedfrom chevrolet dealership on 2/27/2004. Air conditioner failed in august 2004. Independent mechanic (not with dealership) said it was the condenser. Called dealership for estimate. Advised that repair & replacement woudl be approximately $925.dealer agred to replace it with us paying $200 deductible for labor. Parts replaced (per dealership invoice) are the condenser, clamp, retainer, & seal.
Found that the condenser weld on the a/c unit is faulty in my 2001 chevy venture van. I know the condensers are on national backorder which leads me to believe the failure is common. Would this not be a problem if i were working under the vehicle and the weld failed resulting in the displacement of oxygen in the work environment. I would suggest a recall to fix the suspect welds.
While drivinga little while radio volume control button got severe hot. There is no way consumer could control the volume or changed radio station. This is original equipment.
The passenger side power sliding door kept getting stuck.it would not lock or stay closed, not even manually.the door also opened on its own. The wiper motor crank arm failed.the drivers side mirror had a residue on it.the weather stripping on the sliding door was loose and warped.the rear speakers were noisy.*scc*nlm
Brake light, tail light, signal lights failure.
No brake lights on my van all fuses are good and so are the bulbs.

2001 chevrolet venture, fuel tank leak @ the fuel tank filler tube attachment point. Has a small crack.some but not all ventures with this problem have been recalled. Defiantly a fire hazard.
The chevy venture fails to maintain fuel levels at appropriate intervals.this constitutes frequent stops and panicking over when and where to get the next tank of gas, resulting in loss of income and causing wide spread hunger.

I have a 2001 chevy venture that had a recall on the fuel tank because it could leak fuel and a cause a fire. On april 19th my wife took the van in to chapman chevrolet in tempe,az to get the tank replaced because it has been leaking fuel for some time now. We were never notified of this recall. We looked it up online. When she got there she was told that we were over the mileage for the free tank replacement and would have to pay a $1000 to have it replaced. That was of course out of the question and it is not our fault that they made a defective tank and is a fire hazard that they want people to drive around in unless they have a thousand dollars to spend on replacing it. Please help if you can. This can be a serious problem and gm needs to stand behind their products.
While driving the vehicle at any speed driversmelled gas coming through the vents.consumer took the vehicle to the dealership for inspection, andmechanicdetermined thatgas linefailed.
2001 chevrolet venture.consumer writes in regards to a fuel leak in vehicle. The consumer stated upon arriving home, after filling up the gas tank, there was a strong odor of gas. Upon further inspection, he found gas leaking from the bottom of the vehicle on the rear driver's side wheel, where the gas tank was located. After checking the fuel cap, it was determined the leak was actually coming from the gas tank. The vehicle was towed to the dealership, where the his findings were confirmed. While seeking a replacement gas tank online, the consumer discovered a recall was issued by gm, regarding the issue. However, gm informed the consumer due to the high mileage on the vehicle, the vehicle did not qualify for the recall.
While traveling on highway there is a noise coming from underneath the vehicle. When backing up there is a noise, and vehicle will jerk. Dealership is aware of problem. The dealership came to the conclusion that it is gas sloshing in the gas tank due to no baffles in the gas tank.they informed consumer that this is a design problem and there is nothing that can be done about it.*jg

The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that fumes were emitted in and around the vehicle.the contact mentioned that the recall nhtsa campaign number: 07v349000 (fuel system, gasoline) was directly related to the failure the vehicle was exhibiting. However, the vin was not included. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the fuel tank inlet check valve fractured and as a result, the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 114,000.
The fuel tank leaks at the fuel tank, leak at the fuel tank filler tube attachment point to the tank. There is a rubber grommet on the tank that the tube attaches to the tank where the leak is. Defiantly a fire hazard. Leaks when tank is more than 1/2 full. This tube is metal and the fuel tank filler tube attaches to with a rubber hose and clamp. On 3, june, 2011, the right passenger sliding door on our 2001 chevrolet venture minivan would not latch on the back latch, resulting in the door only being partially, and dangerously latched by only the front latch. Sometimes it won't latch on the front latch either. This is not a power sliding door; but i've seen several recalls for failed latches on the power sliding doors. We have called, gone to junk yards to no avail, and dealerships say they do not have the parts to repair the latch. This is a safety concern, as the door could come off during travel, or worse, fly open during motion, placing the middle seat passenger at risk of falling out of a moving vehicle.for safety, door latches are something that should be fail safe in automobiles. One dealership said it would cost over $220.00 to repair, if they could get the parts.if??? the car only has 152k miles. In light of the recalls for the power sliding door latches failing, i would think gm would honor the failure of the door latches on the manual sliding doors.this just happened out of the blue, with no problems prior to the failure. It just quit latching. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer because the rear sliding door failed and would not close completely.the door would close and then open approximately a half an inch.the dealer discovered that there was a recall on the sliding door and they repaired the vehicle accordingly.however, the failure persisted and the door would have to be held until it latched into place.the dealer informed the contact to bring the vehicle back for repair; however, he refused because they were unable to repair the vehicle correctly.the contact called a local repair shop and was informed that it would cost $200 to repair the door.the manufacturer stated that they would not be responsible for another repair because it was already repaired under the recall.the nhtsa campaign id number was unknown.the failure mileage was 109,855 and current mileage was 119,855.
Shift cable broken at transmission.transmission will not shift to another gear causing vehicle remain in last gear selected. Part is plastic and low quality.
Power sliding door on chevrolet venture stops working intermittently, stuck shut on several occasions and now appears to be opening on its own. Rear wheel cylinders have been rebuilt around 20,000 miles. 1st intake manifold gasket replaced around 14,000 miles 2nd around 35,000. Second row passenger seat belt has been replaced 2 or three times due to failing to retract. Second row drivers seat belt has been replaced due to failure to retract. *nlm
Dt: contact statedwhenpushing the button on the automatic sliding door to shut it doordidnot shut.it reopened. Had this problem for a long time. Callerhas not talked to a dealer about the problem.the button for the power windows didnot work all of the time. .she received a recall notice for a 1999 model regarding the sliding doors.there was no recall number available.she no longer has the 1999 vehicle. Wascalling to complain that she was having the same problem with her 2001 model and she has not received a recall letter.
The power sliding door spontaneously opened on two occasions during a left turn (centrifugal force pulling occupants towards the opening door),an unrestrained passenger would have been ejected.fortunately no one was hurt, but it was scary.it turns out that one of the door guide wheelsbroke on the rear part of the door, causing the door to close but not latch properly.the door ajar light was not on and the door appeared closed to casual inspection.property damage occurred when our video camera rolled out of the car into the street.
We have had the auto slider door (rt side) fail 3 times.the first time in nov 2001, the door would not close, so my wife had to drive with the door open to take to the dealer 15 miles away.the mechanism was hanging out the outside track!the second failure occurred aug 9, 2002 when the door would not open.took it to the dealer, and picked it up aug 10 around 10am.the door was opened/closed about 7 times between aug 10 and morning of aug 13, when the door failed again and could not be opened! i contacted gm customer service on aug 9 and again aug 13th.we have also had ongoing problem with seat belt at seat behind rt side psr seat.we had total failure and the part was on back order for over 2 months! finally, a mechanic said he took part froma lot vehicle and replaced it.about a month ago the belt began working intermittently. We took it in aug 9 for seat belt as well, and of course, the part is once again on back order.this vehicle has serious safety questions concerning this sliding door and seat belt.inablility to get in/out of this vehicle when necessary is a great concern and risk to my family.
On two occasions when the automatic sliding door was opening passengers in the seat by the door got their arm caught in the door as they were sitting in the seat and the door was sliding open. Both passengers sustained pulled ligaments from getting their arm caught and jammed in the door as it opened. There is no safety mechanism to stop the door opening should someone get caught in it as it opens.also, the electronic door opened while we were in a car wash. I had to accelerate and leave before the car wash was done because it was shooting water into the van. *la
I have a chevy venture 2001 and i bought it used in july 2005 and i am not sure if any of the recalls have been repaired and i also have a complaint about the passenger sliding door there is no sensor on it and someone could be closed in it i have tried to push it open when it closes and it still continues to close. I have 2 small children and i am worried about it closing on them. How can i get it fixed and will it be at my cost.
2001 chevrolet venture hood flew up on the car while driving smashing the front windshield.*mrthe dealer told the consumer the hood release may have been pulled inadvertently.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture. While driving approximately 65 mph, a loud noise was coming from the engine. In addition, the check engine warning light illuminated. And the vehicle failed to change gears. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the oxygen sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 162,000.
The vehicle to accelerate, when trying to pull of from a light.
Intermittent transmission slip, inability to use reverse and/or drive. My 2001 chevrolet venture has been in for service at my local chvrolet dealership numerous times for this problem over the past 3-4 months. The vehicle has 22000 miles. Guess what the service manager told me after today's tow to the dealer ?? no problem could be found - the vehicle -"operates as designed" amazingly enough when my wife went to back out of the parking spot we were in we could not move. The vehicle was making a loud grinding noise and sounded as if something was spinning inside the transmission. The vehicle and one point lurched backward as my wife continued in an attempt to back the vehicle up to no avail -and stopped abruptly. We could not use drive either it would only move at a snails pace. Unfortunately the vehicle has been repaired and i'm still having intermittent problems. The last time it was in for this problem i almost instantly had the problem again. When i brought it back for repair - they said they filled the fluid and everything was fine and it was until today! - for the amount of similar complaints on this vehicle - i would hope for a recall soon! isn't it strange how a lot of people are having this problem however most of what i've read in other posts say "dealer service could not duplicate the problem" ?? *jd.
While transmission is on drive and going up a hill could take off foot from brakes to accelerator and vehicle will roll backward.but the same motion had happened when driving down a hill will roll foward when trying to reverse.dealer was contacted, please provide more information.
Valve body cross leak.the falure is caused by an inadaquate valve body insatlled in the automobile causing transmission failure.i have been told by several transmission repair shops as well as the chevy dealer that this is an extremely common failure on all similar gmc chevy models at or near 70-100k.to correct the failure, an updated valve body must replace the current style on the vehicle.they actually created an updated body because of the commonality of the problem.
Transmission fails at 54,000 miles due to defective parts. Rebuilt transmission will cost $2000.
This has happened 4 times same problem, 1st time van was not running popped out of gear went down the road backwards and hit a home not much damage to either the house or the van. Not moving fast enough, the second time moved about a foot on level ground , 3rd time running in a flat driveway no one near drivers seat car went out of gear moved forward and hit a parked cars mirror, didn't damage the mirror but distroyed the fender on the van. , the 4th time went out of gear while parked no one in or near car. Didn't move because the emergancy brake was set.is being investigated by general motors.
A/c quit working. Took it to the dealership and they said there was a crack in the condencer.on several different occasions the horn has honked while driving down the road. When the van is in drive you let off the brake and it rolls forward and the same in reverse, it rolls. Ak
We purchased the van on 4/10/2002 with 7478 miles on it.we have many other problems with the van but the major problem is and still is the transmission.nov 25, 2002,there were 17070 miles on van when we took it in."could not duplicate the problem".on november 28, 2002, still having the same problems.this time they changed out a pressure solenoid.on march 3, 2003, we brought the van back.could not duplicate.we were given a rental for a couple of days.on september 15, 2003, we brought the van back for the same reason and other reasons.leaking in the van at the back hatch door. Still told that they could not get the transmission to do what we stated but one time.they said not enough to fix the problem.on october 13, 2003, we brought the van back for the same reason and for thedriver side power seat.they could not duplicate the problem with the transmission.we also had a oxygen sensor replaced because the engine light had come on.on january 22, 2004, we decided to bring the van to another dealership. Gerry lane did in fact find a problem with the transmission.he stated that it was full of metal shavings and needed a complete overhaul.we got the van back on january 29, 2004.on february 13, 2004, we brought the van back again because it still was not fixed.on february 19, 2004, we were called by the service advisor and told to come pick up the van.the service manager and a gm representative were handling all our concerns.the gm customer service rep that we called on february 16, 2004 called us back on february 24, 2004 to offer a coupon for repairs that may have to be done after the original warranty runs out.good for one time, up to 100000 miles or the year 2008, whichever occurs first.our vehicle is still in the shop and gm refuses to do warranty work on it even though a technician has identified a problem.what does it take to get a recall or defect investigation done?does someone have to die first?

The right rear wheel locked up after shifting the vehicle into reverse.vehicle was towed to a repaired shop. The cause of the problem was not determined at this time.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture.the contact stated that the brake pedal extended to the floor when depressed.the vehicle was taken to a brake shop (all tune and lube) and they replaced the brake pads, cylinder, and rotors.the contact also stated that the temperature gauge would move to hot.the contact had the vehicle inspected and was informed that the manifold gasket needed to be replaced.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the repair was performed.the transmission was also slipping gears.the contact had the transmission fluid flushed, but that did not correct the failure.the current and failure mileages were 96,000.
Intermittent problem with transmission.took dealership nearly 8 months to reproduce and repair.venture would at times not go into gear at all.the problem was caused by a solenoid.after two trips to the dealer they finally agreed to investigate properly and resolve it.immediately after the repair the vehicle began to slip out of gear without warning.the dealership had the venture nearly 20 days over the course of 6 months and claimed they could not reproduce even when the symptoms became predictable to me and i was able to convey to them when it would occur; usually soon after starting the vehicle when the engine was cool.finally after leaving the vehicle with dealer over one week while on vacation they were able to reproduce it (on the day before my return).still took them nearly 10 days to schedule vehicle back in to diagnose and repair. Repair took over 3 days.dealership and gm failed to take this seriously even after the vehicle slipped out of gear in the middle of a busy intersection with my family in the vehicle.nearly caused a serious accident.only after the vehicle was repaired did i find out that there was a bulletin out regarding this very issue that specifically listed most of the symptoms i explained to the dealership even down the some of the same terminology.very disappointed in gms failure to respond quickly to this problem despite dozens of emails to gm about this issue.the final diagnosis on the venture was a stripped gear in the transmission requiring a rebuild.you'll find this familiar if you look at other postings in this category on this site as well as many other sites on the web.
Twice while driving our 2001 venture my wife and i had noticed the engine revving while traveling down the road.in the second instance the check engine light came on and remained illuminated most of the day finally going out on the drive home.we arranged an appointment at the local chevrolet service department, which incidentally is where the vehicle was purchased.the dealer inspected the vehicle and reported to us that the transmission fluid was brown and smelt burnt.they also advised that they had pulled 2 transmission codes when scanning the vehicles computer.the dealer provided us with two remedies to repair the transmission.the first remedy was to replace a transmission solenoid and refill the transmission with new fluid.we were advised that this was a try it and see approach.the second remedy was to replace the factory transmission with a remanufactured transmission.estimates for these remedies were $1137.74 and $2985.06 respectively.a second opinion was obtained from a local transmission shop.the shop inspected the vehicle and reported to us that indeed the transmission fluid was burnt, the engine codes mentioned herein were transmission related, and that there was material built up in the transmission filter and oil pan.the shop advised us that the transmission could be rebuilt for $2372.92.due to the overall lower cost, the local shop rebuild was selected.when the vehicle was picked up we were advised some of the clutches were essentially gone, most likely due to the failure of a solenoid.
Lurching shift while driving for about three days then suddenly when starting out it jerked and quit moving.i had it towed to a local transmission repair facility.i called the chevy dealership to let them know the transmission had failed at approximately 41,000 miles, even before the first transmission service was due.they asked if i had bought the extended warranty.i replied that i had not.they said there was nothing they could do as the warranty had expired.i emailed the chevrolet company without any reply.
Vacationing 500 miles out of my home state, i suddenly discovered i could not back up my vehicle -- reverse gear would not work.i shut down the engine and restarted and drove immediately to an authorized chevrolet dealer.upon initialexamination of the transaxle/transmission, it was discovered that there was shreddded metal in the fluid and pan.a subsequent teardown of the assembly revealed that major components were destroyed, requiring a replacement of the entire assembly.the care had beenmaintained by the selling dealership at home, according to maintenance schedules, and had only 42,000 miles on it.we had never had any problems before this or warning of any damage occurring to the transaxle/transmission -- no operating problems, no noises, no leakage, no smoking engine, etc.we had to extend our vacation for about 5 days at considerable lodging and vehicle rental cost, but fortunately the replacement of the transaxle/transmission itself was covered under extended vehicle warranty which i had purchased with the vehicle in 2001 (less a $100 deductible).we know other chevrolet owners who reported to us later that they had had to replace front wheel transaxles/transmissions, one also in a venture several years older than ours and one in a suburban about the same year as ours.our home dealership told us they thought our experience was unusual but we are not so sure.
This vehicle has been rolling back on hills since i bought it.have had brake problems, the vcr replaced, the power side door looked at and told it has been fixed.y biggest complaint is while driving to work, stopped at a stop light.my van rolled backwards when i took off the brake to go to the gas pedal.my whole transmission system stopped working.the vehicle had to be towed and while in the shop they found the intake manafold to be defective.luckily i bought the extended warrenty.total cost for this repair was $4,200.i could go on about the problems with this vehicle.

Premature failure of automatic transmission on 2001chevrolet venture minivan.believe known engineering or materials defect causes sun gear/thrust bearing on input shaft to prematurely fail (44,000 miles in my case). If failed under speed could cause accident as all forward and reverse power to wheels was lost.many complaints on web about pre-mature chevrolet venture transmission failures.gm also has had a service bulletin out for some time on the failing sun gear/thrust bearing.seems pretty early in model year life to be publishing what is apparently a common problem showing up at repair sites.request recall investigation.
My 2001 venture lt was purchase 6/21/01 new. Beginning around 25,000 miles i began to experience an intermittent transmission problem where when the car was in drive the engine would accelerate but no power was transfer to the transmission and then the transmission would engage and the car would lurch forward.despite this complaint and 3 trips to the dealership at 28,000, 41,000, and 52,000 they could not replicate or fix the problem.at 58,000 the transmission experienced a catastrophic failure. Additionally,i personally know of another owner with a catastrophic transmission failure at less than 30,000 miles.*la

When on a downward incline and vehicle was in park it will slip out ofpark gear, and will start to roll back.it could have cause an accident. Dealer notified.
Front left axle of 01 chevy venture is making a bad grinding type noise which gets louder the faster you drive.afraid it may cause an accident or damage vehicle.

Front windshield leaks. Vehicle isexperiencing an oil leak from the seal. Warranty expired.
The safety harnesses on some seats ratchet up, lock, and choke the person using them.the first one to do that was in the far back and had been used only a few times when it failed and we requested the dealership to repair it.we were told that the 12-month warranty was expired and safety belts are not covered under extended warranty.now, the assembly that holds the shoulder harness to the sidewall of the vehicle, the bolts pulled completely out and the shoulder strap is not attached to anything.all but the driver's shoulder harness also ratchets up and locks, nearly strangling the person using it.i believe there are major safety issues with these seat belts.we are a family of 3 and the seat belts in the back seats are seldom used, the problems began when the vehicle was fairly new, and this is a major safety issue, especially the one where the bolts fell out.fortunately that happened when our 13-year-old grandson was latching it, not in an accident.i contacted gm and they denied any responsibility for repairing the safety belts.
Consumer is experiencing problems with the seat belt equipment not locking when a panic stop is made. He says he had spoken to his dealer/mechanic and was told that he will be charged approx $600.00 to get this problem fixed.he states he feels that this is a safety problem and feels that the manufacturer should help him get it repaired.*mr
The driver's seatbelt will only latch into the bracket about half the time.sometimes it takes up to 5 minutes to get it to click in.otherwise it just will not click.i have had to stretch it across to hook it into the passenger's side seatbelt. Luckily for me i didn't have a passenger so i could do this but i am worried that in attaching it into the passenger's side that it will not perform should i need it to.
This accident happened in a rental car through national car rental in ft. Lauderdale, fl.my wrist was broken in this incident which i believe was caused by the automatic motorized door which was slow to kick in and by the large handle/lever on the door which you must pull to engage the motor.i was a passenger in the back seat on rt. Side by automatic motorized sliding door strapped into my seat belt.we were parked and ready to get out.i grabbed lever to open the door.lever is supposed to engage the motor but the motor did not start so i pulled back some more and it opened about another foot or so and still did not engage the motor.on the third pull the motor suddenly engaged but the position of my hand around this large lever and the fact that my elbow was backed against the back of the seat, it was impossible to extricate my hand. The door, with my hand around the lever, dragged backwards until it snapped my wrist in half.i incurred a right distal radial fracture and beingright handed and an artist and art teacher it has been difficult to say the least.i feel that the design of the sliding door handle is a hazard and should be considered for a recall.other automatic sliding doors on other minivans tend to have a button or a small handle that would not catch the hand and drag it backwards causing injury.i wondered if i was the only person to whom this happened.the rental company had chevy inspectors check the door and said it worked fine but for the entire trip the door never engaged the motor without great stregnth and several pulls.it was very sluggish.thank you for your time.i know it is just a minor injury but it happened to me and i do not want this to happen to anyone else.pe04064.pco
Vehicle is having a problem with the seat belts. When making a sudden stop, driver lunges forward as if he was not wearing a seat belt. The seat belt doesn't tighten as it should when stopping abruptly. Provide further details.
Installing child safety seats in the chevrolet venture, warner bros edition, bucket seats.you can not safely install child safety seats with this type of seat belt latch.i have contacted the dealer who replaced the latch.it was no better.he even said, he felt it would be unsafe for his own child.i contacted gmc.they called today and said, there was nothing they could do.the irony is, this is a minivan marketed to families with children.it has the video player, cup holders and seat belt "adjusters" so the seat belts fit the kids correctly but you can not add a child car seat!i can guarantee someone will be killed or injured if they do not recall these seats.i told them that today, and they didn't seem to care.i also noticed another complaint regarding this.it should be seriously looked into.dt
The shoulder harness clip was defective,it will separate by pulling it apart without the use of the center clip which was used to separate. The consumer stated you have to pull it from side to side, it wont pull apart if you pull it forward. The consumer hopes it wont come unbuckled.
*nlm
I own a 2001 chevrolet venture warner brothers edition minivan. In the past nine months the seatbelt from the first seat in the second row has gotten stuck in the sliding door, causing the door to be jammed shut. My concern is it could be clothing or fingers or toes next time. In order to get the door open it had to be taken to a repair shop and pried out. This sliding door is suppose to stop and reopen when an object is in its path. Please look into this matter as i have five small children and i carpool with more. Thank you.*nlm
My five year old son was getting into our van and walking toward the rear row of seats when he ran into the seatbelt that crosses overfrom the rear side window and was entangled.the seatbelt was so tightly wrapped around him that it would not move in either direction so that i could get him out.the only way that i could get him out was by cutting the seatbelt.we have had similar incindents when getting in and out of our van and going to the rear row of seats.
1. The automatic power door has no sensor.if you are standing in its way when the door is closing, it will close on you before it retracts.if my child would get caught in the door, it could do substantial harm.2. There are 2 bucket seats in the back of this minivan.they are spaced 4.7 inches apart.my son who is 2 years old (35lbs and 38") was inside the car and reached between the seats to retrieve something in the trunk area.he became wedged between the seats and could not free himself.thankfully, we were able to lift him out before anything happened.if this incident happened during the summer and we did not notice he was in the car, he could have suffocated. 3.the way the car is designed with all bucket seats, it makes it impossible to attach booster seats and car seats properly.the buckles that clasp the seatbelts do not stand up to face upwards, they face to the front of the car.therefore, you can not get a good connection for the seats to fit securely.i went to car seat clinics sponsored by chevy and the "professionals" could not get the seats to fit properly and without movement.for a car that was designed with children in mind, they did a sorry job.i feel this car to be unsafe for any child under 40 pounds!please do not take these problems lightly - my children's lives are at stake.
My 13 year old son reached under the rear bench seat to hide his cd player in a parking lot of a mall and was severly cut by a sharp plate that is part of the seat. We had to go to the emergency room where he received 5 staples in his thumb. Gm is taking no responsibility because they stated that you should not reach under any seat. The dealership checked the part and said it is faulty. It was left extremely sharp and had metal spurs sticking out. They believe it to be defective. They glued door trim to it for safety. I am concerned about this part. Please help.
Son was putting cd player under the rear bench seat and was badly cut by a defective part under the seat. He received 5 staples on his right thumb. Part was inspected by dealership.they referred to it as a pan that is stamped from a press.

Replacement of rear left hand wheel cylinder due to failure of oem (2001 chevrolet venture van rear left hand wheel cylinder).when i replaced the above cylinder, i took the van for a test drive and 3 miles later found the wheel to be smoking and extremely hot (i had not backed the drum brakes off to account for the size of the new brakes).when i pulled the drum back off of the axle, i found that the new wheel cylinder had a whole in it.i thought that this would be a fluke, so i replaced it with another of the same brand and bought from the same store.upon closer inspection, i found that the 2nd new wheel cylinder had a divit in the same location as the 1st new cylinder had.i took one back to the store and asked them for another one, we (the clerk and i) examined it and found that it also had this divit in it.we inspected a couple more of them and was able to pull one of the rubber boots off of one that did not look defective, and combined it with a cylinder that had a second boot on it that was not defective giving me a good cylinder to install on my van.there were 3 or more of these defective wheel cylinders that were bad.the product was bought from advance auto parts and the part # is w37855item # 3643344 and it costs $22.76.advance auto parts was very helpful and concerned when i presented them with the issue and they found a way to make it work for me.i have a 22 hour drive to make from north carolina to illinois in 2 days with my family and this is a major concern for me.thanks again for your time and assistance in this matter, luckily there were no incident(s), crash(es), or injury(ies) before i found this problem, i hope that advance auto parts will put an immediate recall on this part so that no one has a brake failure while driving on these wheel cylinders.

July 16, 2005 i was driving my 2001 chevrolet venture along my local street smithtown ny when i heard a extremely loud bang.with great difficulty i pulled my car over and contacted my husband.when he opened the hood the engine had fallen out of the vehicle.upon towing the vehicle to a licensed gm mechanic i learned that the cv knuckle and the rack and pinion steering system snapped when the engine fell.upon contacting gm/chevrolet customer service they offered to pay fifty percent of the repair costs,i feel this is unacceptable and they should pay one hundred percent of my repair costs.this vehicle is accident free.an engine should not fall out of a four year old car.
Have returned the vehicle 3 times, for water accumulating in the driver floor board soaking rug during rains, causing a hazard, ie. Foot slipping from the break petal due to the water, plus mildew odor. Current rain, today( 3-15-03) problem still exists, will be returning vehicle (3-17-03) to dealer to fix the problem, 4th time. Other part affected is the jackthis style van rusts thru in front of the rear wheel well where the jack is supposed to be placed to replace the spare tire.there is no longer any structural support resulting in a dangerous condition where the van can fall off the jack if you attempt to put the spare tire on.as a matter of fact my chevrolet dealer, at about 170,000 miles, crushed the whole area of my car while they put it on a lift to replace my transmission lines.ican never safely put the jack at that location.that is what alerted me to the problem whereas the rust was there very early in the life of the van!
While turning left at a light the electric sliding door opened, all of the lights came on in the van including the light notifing me that the door was opened.the door is suppose to have a safety on it so it can not open unless the door is unlocked and the car is in park.my 1 year old was sitting on that side of the van at the time.the dealer says it is only covered under an extended warranty and i have to pay the deductible to have the repair made.this is a safety issue and my son could have fallen out of the car.this door has been recalled and i had it repaired one time before due to hearing air coming into the door, it was not sealing correctly.now the door is opening even though there are safety devices to stop this from happening.i should not have to pay for a safety issue with this door.i wonder how many other people are having the same problem.dt
Power sliding door wouldn't stop or open, wife got shoulder, arm, knee caught in door.the door is not working right.called gm and they were very rude and said it was my problem.
Power door will not stay open when parked on a down hill position. Dealer and manufacturer were notified. When parked on the hill the door comes down with enough force to injure a person.door has to be held open manually in order for an accident not to occur.a gm representative explained to the consumer the specifics and directed consumer to the vehicle manual.*jg
While closing the sliding door, it broke.when the consumer pulled the door handle to open the door, it had come back to the point that the consumer was unable to release it and the resistance did not make it stop, the consumer was still in her seat belt and due to such force not being able to release the door, the consumer broke her arm above the wrist. *scc pe04064.pco
While the passenger's sliding door was opened it suddenly closed on its own.as a result, consumer'schildsustained major arm injuries, and was transported to a hospital by ambulance.
Doors unlock and lock involuntary while driving down the road.consumer has gotten stuck in vehicle dueto doors locking after being unlocked.vehicle has been into the dealer 4 times forproblem.
Last weekdriver's side sliding passenger door (non-power) flew open while the vehicle was in motion.today a child tried to close the driver's side sliding door.the door came off it's rear track and falling inward striking the child on the head (no injury).the sliding door was dangling by its upper and lower lead brackets.
While openingside passengerdoor it fell off the track and injureda 10 year old child. Dealer notified.
Thank you.
10 year old girl attempted to enter rear passenger sliding (non-automatic) door of 2001 chevy venture, when the bolts and tracking failed causing the door to fall to the ground cutting her bone in her big toe in half, leaving it hanging on by skin. Doctor's at children's hospital had to realign the bone and reattach her toe. General motors has been notified, but at this time, they are not willing to fix or replace the defective vehicle.
When standing within the sliding door it would close without warning. Took vehicle to dealership. Mechanic could not determine cause of problem.
Vehicle's sub-frame bent very easily, without excessive force being used.

Blowout not caused by external force such as puncture or hitting curb.
The consumer rented the vehicle for travel, while driving the left front tire blewout suddenly(firestone).nlm
Driving south on i-5, at approx 70mph, rear tires went flat.first, rear passenger tire blew to shreds and sidewall separated.car started to fishtail and rear, driver side, tire went flat, probably rolled off of the rim.dealership looked at tires and confirmed that tire is defective, damage not caused by road hazard.have not yet submitted problem to firestone.in process of filing claim.currently have possession of all four tires. Replaced all original tires 'cause wife is afraid to drive van.
While a child was sitting in an integrated child seat, the childs' hand got caught in the automatic sliding door which is suppose to have a safety device preventing that.please describe details ts
The cooling system overheats alot and ive bought alot of coolant because of this problem and ive gotten stranded a couple of times and its crazy ive did some research and it could be multiple things but for sure its going to cost alot for this i cant lay for these exspensive repairs im still going and paying for school id just would like some help to get these exspensive repairs fixed because this van is my ownly transportation.
In sept. '03 the rear cylinder brakes were leaking and needed replaced; in march '04 the front suspension went and had upper struts, mounts and bearings all replaced; in june '04 i first took the vehicle in for engine acceleration. The engine lunges and revs high but they could not reproduce the problem.i have had it in several more times since then; also in june '04 the lower intake of the engine cooling was found leaking.in oct. '04 the abs brakes went and it was verified the left rear wheel hub failed and replaced the left rear wheel hub bearing.also in oct. '04, the transmission went.it was not engaging when the engine was cold and would not shift into gear.the dealership verified sun shell failed and replaced new srta transmission.also at this same service visit, the dealership found the cam sensor leaking.they replaced lower intake and all related gaskets.in nov. '04, i took the car in again for the acceleration problem, which they again could not determine.in april '05, i discovered my air conditioning did not work.they told me it was completely empty and that i probably had a leak and it would need to be replaced even though my van is still less than 4 yrs. Old and has only seen 3 summers and the air conditioning is barely used.in may '05, during a rainstorm my windshield wipers would not come on.then all of a sudden they jolted on and nearly flipped off the sides of the windshield.i had to pull off the side of the road and wait for the rain to stop until i could drive again, all while my 4 children were in the van.i drove straight to the dealership and showed them the wipers.they looked under the hood and told me that the wipers came away from the support brace.they ended up replacing the wiper transmission, motor and crank.chevrolet said they are not willing to help with any of the repair costs and told me that these things happen and i should have bought the extended warranty.this vehicle is less than 4 yrs. Old.
While driving suddenly the engine light will come on.had taken vehicle to dealer to correctproblem.had been fixed, but consumer believed that it could happen again.please provide more information.
While in motion, another vehicle ran a stop sign and struck the vehicle.the consumer lost control, causing the vehicle to roll over at least three times.the driver of the vehicle had previously subscribed to onstar.after the accident, onstar neglected to contact emergency services and did not assist in any way following the accident, three people were injured in the accident. Attorney wrote in on behalf of client.
I have a 2001 chevy venture without power doors. A 10 year old child attempted to open the rear passenger side sliding door, when it completely came off of the tracks, pulling the brackets out of the vehicles roof. The door fell on the childs left foot, cutting off her big toe. Children's hospial had to reattach the bone where it was split in two and then reattach her toe.
Engine light comes on and off after engine received 15000 mile check from dealer. Stayed on for a week then off by itself.now back on. Will return vehicle to dealer for check.
When backing out vehicle will jump and then accelerate . Brakes will not stop vehicle. Sometimes vehicle would jump and stop.also, vehicle is doing the same thing when put itto drive. When stopping and tapping gas pedal lightly vehicle would accelerate forward.contacted dealer, and dealer stated nothing was wrong with vehicle.
Cruise control will intermittently not work. Dealer has been contacted.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture. While driving approximately 50 mph in the rain, the windshield wipers failed to operate properly. After activating the wipers, they became jammed together. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the wiper transmission was faulty. The transmission was replaced, but the contact continued to experience the failures. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 15,000.
-the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet venture van.the defrost does not defrost the front and side windows.the contact stated the rear windows are not experiencing this incident.the contact has to stop the vehicle and manually clean the windowsto ensure visibility.per the mechanic the incident occurred due to a weak compressor.the mechanic installed a new compressor and the failure continued to occur per the contact.the contact feels the incident is a safety risk due to poor visibility while driving the vehicle.the vehicle's current mileage is 99600.
On april 30 2003, about 6:30 pm i was driving my 2001 chevrolet venture minivan through a rainstorm near dalton, ga on i-75 heading north.suddenly, without warning, the windshield wipers collided.the collision bent the wipers and jammed the driver's side wiper off the windshield to the left.i had no vision to the front and the area was dark due to the storm.luckily i was able to pull off the road to the left. I was unable to repair the driver's side wiper as it spun freely.i was able to rebend the passenger side wiper blade and that one worked sufficiently to make it back on the road when the storm lessened. This vehicle is less than 2years old.it is out of warranty because we have over 48,000 miles on it.still, something as important as windshield wipers should not fail as soon as our venture's did, and fail in such a way as to be acutely dangerous.we narrowly missed adding four deaths to the national highway totals.this part should have been designed and built in a more robust fashion.from now on i will be apprehensive whenever my wife or i drive this car in rain. After repairs at a local dealer, the wiper arm still sweep the driver's side blade past the outer (left) side of the windshield, causing the blade to hesitate before the return stroke.this was the cause of the original damage when the wiper arm became unsyncronized with the passenger side arm.these are very long arms and, unfortunately, this design creates considerable pressure on the point where the blade arm is attached to the driving shaft. The dealership stated that they are unable to adjust the windshield wipers to avoid the overlap without causing damage on the other end of the sweep.obviously, this is a design fault.when windshield wipers fail by collision there is aprobability of that failure to cause an accident, which is likely to be fatal.chevrolet's dealer service departments are unable to cope with this problem.
Rear window wiper motor fails creating a driving safety hazard due to obstructed rear view.

It was raining in louisiana and i was driving to pick up my husband from work.upon leaving his work.we were traveling east on highway 10 to church on a wendesday evening.the windshield wipers hit each other and the passenger side was laying limp on the side. The drivers side was still attempting to work.we had to turn them off and drive the rest of the way to church with no wipers.the passenger side had been bent and we removed the arm so that we could drive the van with just the driver side wiper.it was still under warranty at the time (11000 miles).we brought it to the local dealership in baker, louisiana.they did not have the parts to fix it so they ordered the parts.we waited three weeks for parts.when we finally called back to see if the parts had come in, they told us that they had and they just forgot to call us.we brought the van in and they replaced the wiper arm and they could not get the timing right on the wipers.they found out that they had to replace the transmission for the wipers and set the timing.they have been running fine until about three weeks ago.the just stopped working all together this time. You can hear the motor trying to turn to move the wipers but they are not moving.this repair is at 51000 miles.first time ever that i have had the windshield wipers on any vehicle i have owned go out, much less go out twice.the dealership wants to charge 240 dollars plus tax for repairs.this is ridiculous.
The windshield wipers are hitting against each other while operating. This repair was done by the dealer on several occasions and the problem keeps recurring.
Our 2001 chevy venture minivan's windshield wipers failed to go back down; remaining up, on the sides of the windshield at about 150,000 miles. I am filing this complaint because i see many other complaints with the same or similar issue. We have not replaced the motor as yet.
Vehicle windshield wipers operate out of "sync" and jam in the middle of the windshield. This has happened 3 times. The windshield wiper motor module has been replaced once. I have scheduled repairs for 12/8/2005, at the chevrolet dealer where i purchased the vehicle.

2001 chevrolet venture.purchased sept 2001.the winshield wipers stop in the up position.i checked with the dealer and that is the problem that is recalled but not for my vehicle.the pulse board is defective and unless recalled, they will not fix it.
The front windshield wipers are not in sync.they are in the up position when turned off.i have replaced the module once and that corrected the problem.however, it did it again.now i'm told it is a component that will cost $368 to fix.i see many ventures with the same problem.
The right rear wheel locked up after shifting the vehicle into reverse.vehicle was towed to a repaired shop. The cause of the problem was not determined at this time.
