The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet ventura. The contact was driving approximately 45 mph when another vehicle crashed into the passenger's side of the contact's vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact and the driver of the second vehicle were injured and required medical assistance. The contact also sustained bruising from the seat belt restraining upon impact.a police report was filed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure and current mileage was 174,699.
The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet venture.while driving 55 mph, the contact noticed that the air bag indicator illuminated on the instrument panel.the failure indicated that both air bags were deactivated.the vehicle was driven to the dealer, but they could not inspect the vehicle because the air bag indicator was not illuminated at the time.the failure continued intermittently; however, the air bag indicator remained illuminated.the vehicle was returned to the dealer and they performed a diagnostic test.the contact was informed that the driver's side seat belt latch assembly was defective.the vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not under any recalls; therefore, they were not liable for the repairs.the current mileage was 97,000 and failure mileage was 95,000. Updated 3/16/09 the headlight covers fogged up as well.updated 03/19/09.
While pulling inside of the garagevehicle suddenly accelerated into a brick wall. Consumer applied the brakes andvehicle stopped.both air bags did not deploy.no injurieswere reported. Dealer was unable to duplicate or correct the problem.
Airbag light comes on and stays on.this happens intermittently. Dealer contacted, cause unknown.
Transmission failed, will not engage, manufacturer admits it should not have failed on a vehicle with that mileage and that age; will not pay for it unless take it to a dealer, which will take much longer and also cost more money than an independent specialist. Airbag light has been coming on in this vehicle on a regular basis since the 20,000 mile mark.i have had the dealer from whom we bought it look at it twice.all they do is hook it up to a machine and tell me there is nothing wrong with it.they never told me that the airbag light is a serious indicator that the airbag will either deploy when it should not, or it will not deploy when it should.the manufacturer is very concerned about this.the dealer has shown no concern at all.
Air bag light comes on intermittently and stays on. Customer service indicates customer must pay to have it diagnosed and repaired. Dealer service representative indicated he sees this all the time on these vehicles. It is a known problem! chevy won't repair or admit problem. Chevy indicates the air bags may be unfunctioning when light is on.
Air bag lamp goes on /off when manualy moving seats in front. My air bag lamp will go on if i move the seats in my car either fwd or back. Can get lamp to go out if i move seat very little.
Air bag lightcomes on when front sets are moved manually, if i wiggle connector under seat or move seat back and forthi can get the light to go out. It ismy understanding that if the light is onairbag system is inoperative?? have had this problem forlast6 months.
2000 chevrolet venture was involved in an accident and the air bags did not deploy.*mrthe consumer, his niece and sister were injured.
The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet venture. The contact stated that the driver side airbag light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they advised him that he would have to contact a dealer. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised him that the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000. The vin was unavailable.
The car would not always start, so i took it back to the dealer under warranty, and it was discovered that the one of the cables that attached to the battery had melted (of course the battery was also drained).also, my turn signals blinked quickly when the brakes were on.within three weeks, my brake lights did not work if the headlights or turn signals were used.when i took the car back to the dealership, the panels for the brake lights were replaced.it appears that there was a leak in the casing of the break lights and the water caused the connectors to also melt.now, after over $500 in repairs that were not covered by my warranty, the air bag light stays on while driving for no apparent reason.
When the vehicle was started the air bag light would illuminate continuously.the consumer notified the dealership, but the problem had not been resolved. *nlm consumer also indicated that dealer will charge him $65.00 to find the problem.*la
This is the fifth safety related major problem with this vehicle -- any could have killed us -- i will try to get dates for the others which include: the van died twice while in use, the recalled power sliding door and the airbag sytem failure.
Air bag light turned on and off. Found that wires in air bag were pulled out and tornwhen taken in for check up.
Was driving forward coming up to an intersection and approaching a red light when the brakes went out .when trying to stop and push the brake down it started shaking and the brake came up and then when pushed it back down it went to the floor and the brakes were completely out. Them going out caused us to roll through the intersection causing us to get hit by a vehicle coming through the light, spinning us around and got hit more than once. Hit us on both sides of vehicle and windows were shattered out but not one air bag went off/deployed at all and the vehicle was totalled.there were 3 babies in the vehicle when the air bags did not deploy.
Air bag light will not turn off, there is no way to fix it as they don't make the parts anymore, not sure if airbag will deploy if ever needed.
Note: this is the second occurrence of this problem and they were identical except for the dates and the mileage on the car.1) events - air bag light would come on and stay on for a day or two and then go off and stay off for several days and then repeat the sequence.2) failure - there was no actual failure but both times the dealer service advised that it needed to be fixed or the consequences could be either the airbag going off when it was not needed or not going off when needed.3) repair - installed belt kit (14875 opc) - old part not available.

Consumer's vehicle was struck by another vehicle at the front right fender, speed was undetermined). Thiscaused consumer's vehicle to crash into a tree head on. Upon impact, neither frontal air bags deployed. Both the driver and the passenger sustained injuries, and was transported to the local hospital by ambulance. The dealer was notified....picture enclosed.
While driving approximately 50 mph another vehicle pulled into consumer's lane of traffic, resulting in a lateral crash.both frontal air bagsfailed to deploy. Consumers wife, driver of vehicle, experienced bruising from restraint belts, andpassengers inother vehicle sustained unknown injuries.no determination has been made forcause ofair bag failure.please provide any additional information / attachments.
While driving 35-40mph, another vehicle turned in front. Was hit twice. Neither air bag deployed. Passenger in rear hit front seat afterright seat belt failed to restrain him. Driver hit steering wheel. Sustained broken foot/strained knees/ hairline fracture of te jaw/broken nose, and foot had adisplaced bone. Was treated in emergency room.vehicle was totaled.
Hit on passenger side of van.air bags did not deploy.venture van was headed north on taylor ranch rd at apx 25 mph (just came through a school zone).
A ford ranger pulled out in front of us and we collided at approx. 45 to 50 miles per hour. Impact to our van was head on. Impact to the ranger was on its mid section passenger side.my wife 's seat was almost fully forward and she was wearing her seat belt but because the airbags did not deploy, she hit her head on the windsheild. Breaking the glass and giving her a concussion.
I own a 2000 chevrolet venture minivan.recently, my airbag light would go on and off while driving.i brought the minivan into my mechanic who today diagnosed a malfubction in the driver's side airbag pretentioner.what prompted me to write this complaint is that when the mechanic called to order a new part, the parts distributor told him that this is a very common problem on chevrolet ventures and that he sells many replacement pretentioner units for chevy ventures.as a defect in the airbag pretentioner could have fatal consequences in the event the airbag fails to deploy as a result of the defective pretentioner, i am requesting that the nhtsa investigate this issue and require chevorlet to reimburse me for the costs and expenses incurred in replacing the defective pretentioner.thank you for your consideration of this matter.
While traveling at 45 mph another driver rear ended consumer's vehicle, and none of the frontal airbags deployed.one person was injured in accident, vehicle was totaled.
Vehicle was involved in a 55 mph frontal collision in which driver's air bag did not deploy, cause u nknown.please give any further details.
Consumer was involved in a frontal collsion in which air bags deployed, causing burns todriver's face and arms. Please give any further details.
Air bag lamp goes on /off when manualy moving seats in front. My air bag lamp will go on if i move the seats in my car either fwd or back. Can get lamp to go out if i move seat very little.
The air bag lightremained illuminated while driving.the vehicle is at the dealer.the passenger seat belt pretensioner was installed with an activation cable under the seat track.over time, the wiring in the cable shorted internally requiring replacement.without replacement the airbag system was inoperative. There was also a coolant leak which was found in the lower intake manifold gasket. *sc
While traveling down a street, a 2000 chevrolet venture minivan was struck on the passengers side of the vehicle, by another vehicle entering the street, causing the van to roll over to the left on to the roof. The driver was wearing a seat belt. None of the air bags deployed (front and side). The driver's left arm was injured when the driver hit the road through the open window as the van rolled over. The neck of the driver was also injured when the side of the head hit roof above the drivers door. The front, passenger side of the roof collapsed. The minivan was a total loss.
I was driving northbound on vandyke (just north of 16 mile road) when i was t-boned on the driver's side (driver's door and rear sliding door) by a driver who failed to yield (he was issued a ticket).he was driving an older full-size van.the side air bag did not deploy.note: i just picked the vehicle that same evening from the dealer who replaced the master brake cylinder and other components...[ may or may not be related].
The integrated child safety seat shoulder harness clip comes apart with very little effort. *mjs
The integrated child restraints have a chest latch.this latch is able to be pulled apart by my 18 mo. Old daughter without unlatching.i investigated, and found that they all come apart easily.both child seats were replaced and the new ones are able to be unlatched by simply pulling the buckle apart.once, my daughter was able to get out of the car seat completely as we were driving down the road.and i am concerned in a crash that the latch won't hold, or a child can unlatch it just by pulling on it.
The integrated child safety seats in my new 2000 chevy venture don't adequately protect my children (ages 22 months and 40 months).the kids are able to slide down the clasp that holds the chest straps together and then slip their arms out of their belts.the yonger child then attemps to reach the power sliding door as i'm driving down the road.all of this makes for a stressful car trips.the buckles are too easy to operate and there is no mechanism to keep theclasp at chest level where it belongs.once the kids slide them down to the crotch buckle it is very easy for them to wiggle their arms out of the belts.i'm worried i'm going to crash while trying to convince them to put their arms back in the straps and rebuckle the clasps.i bought the car because i assumed the integrated seats were safe because the manufacturer put them in the vehicle but as it turns out they are very unsafe.i don't want my kids to get injured while sitting in a seat that was designed to protect them!
Was trying to latch built in child seat, latch would fail to catch in buckle mechanism in chest area. When it was locked, could pull or tug on it & latch would release. Taken vehicleto dealer.service manager checked latching & indicated it was okay, not necessary to have. Sales person indicated all ventures with built in seats are like that.
We have a built in child restraint seat in the middle row of our van. I noticed that the clip that sits by a childs chest did not work properly.i could pull it apart by giving a little tug on it.i brought it to the dealers attention and they replaced the seat.i then tested it to make sure it would work and the same thing occurred, i was able to pull it apart just by tugging on it.the dealer told me that under high impact it would lock up.i told them i didn't feel confident with that answer and they then informed me that gm gave them this information.i was in a roll over accidentwhere my vehicle rolled three times and when i turned around after the accident i saw my 3 yr old sons seat belt was unlatched.i believe if this was a head on accident my son would have been out the window.i"m glas i kept his coat ove his shoulders and locked in the seat with him because this may have been what saved his life. This is all in a police report with 2 passenger witnesses.as soon as i got home i brought this to newberry motors and gm's attention.both places ignored me and acted as if there wasn't a problem.finally after our 3rd attempt at trying to get someone to listen at gm we got a call back from a gm representitive.this gentleman owns the exact type of vehicle, went home & tested his and found his failed in the same way.he then called around to other dealerships and found all failed in the same way.they told us to go out and by a new child seat and they would reimburse me, but i have not heard back from gm on this matter.my accident was 3/2002.my concern is that i'm going to hear about a kid that was not as fortunate as my son.gm did say they were going to research further and issue some sort of recall, but as i said i have not received anything further on this matter.i would think that childrens safety would be a little bit more important to them.i would hope that someone would do something quickly!thank you!
While traveling approximately 35 to 40 mph, vehicle was involved in a crash.during the crash, the retainer clip for the harness on the child seat came loose and released.child received no injuries. No information given regarding the child safety seat.
Harness clip doesn'tstay clipped.smallest tug ofharness strap the clip comes on clipped.
Child seat buckle ofchest retractor broke fromcarseat while traveling. Manufacturer is aware ofproblem.
Child "safety" seat is inadequate. Child can easily pull apart restraint.
Left side (driver side)daytime running light (also the left-turn signal light) keeps going out.replaced bulb 2x within one month.bulb not burning out - would sometimes start working again for a very short time.but would be out most of the time.
Melted/burned plastic where brake light & turn-signal wires connect to rear brake/turn-signal housings.also melted plastic near contacts where some brake lamps plug into that housing.cause a dangerous condition for driving at the least, and possibly a fire hazard.background & specifics:brake lamps burn out frequently.upon changing them i see burned plastic around the area where bulb leads connect to brake light housing. Also have seen several instances where dashboard light indicators for brakes do not work properly, because of poor grounding/wiring/contacts between brake wires and brake light housings.when they fail, specific result is the following:when ignition turned on, both brake signal lights on the dashboard light up--even though turn signals lever is not on.if i set turn signal on, both dashboard turn signal indicator lights stay on.then the dashboard turn-signal lights will blink fast if i have my foot on the brake pedal, and at normal speed when i am off the brake pedal.i removed brake light housings again and removed connector that plugs into them. They both smell of burned plastic, and you can see the plastic is badly burned away around one (ground) wire within the connector.i looked on forums online and many many people have had the same problems with this model car.i feel this presents a dangerous situation--that may either cause an accident, or a electrical fire within the car.the car failed inspection and i felt it was dangerous to drive.because others online indicated the same problems i figured that replacing the brake/tail light housings with more oem housings would risk having the same problem.so i drilled out the plastic and manually soldered a proper ground wire to the proper place in order to maintain proper ground contact.i don't feel this is a good solution but many others who indicated this problem said the dealer would not honor repair of this obvious design or manufacturers defect.
While driving at night, lights go dim. This happens intermittently. Took vehicle to dealer and dealer indicated that motor in exhaust manifold turns on, causing lights to go dim.dealer replaced battery, regulator ground screw, and alternator, but condition still exist.
Please investigate incidents of failure of the gm passkey/passlock/vats security system.security light would flash and vehicle experienced a total loss of power.problem occurred intermittently for the next several months, at various speeds.no accidents involved, but several near misses.problem occurred very frequently in the past week, and now vehicle will not start due to security feature.i am using factory original keys, not replacements.problem affects this particular make and model, but it is so systemic to gm, an entire aftermarket industry has arisen to bypass this security "feature."
While driving the speedometer and fuel gauge lost power and failed to work.nlm
- the contact had a number ofstalling problems with the2000 chevrolet venture minivan stalling.the contact stated that theminivan stalled at any given time.on one occasion thecontact's vehicle was hit from behind by another vehicle while driving 35 mph.when the vehicle stalledtherewas no prior indication of the vehicle losing power.he noticed that the vehicle decelerated and the instrument panel showed everything had lost power.the contact took the vehicle to the dealership on the first occasion and they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle.the dealership informed the contact that the vehicle needed to be tuned up.the contact stated that he was put on a waitinglist for one week.he took the vehicle to a mechanic shop for the tune up.the contact stated that the vehicle continued to have the stalling problems.the contact stated that the mechanic shop replaced the fuel pump, fuel relay and the harness.the contact stated that he wasno longer having any problems with the vehicle stalling.he stated that the dealership couldn't find what the problem was with the vehicle, but a mechanic shop was able to find the failure on the first attempt.
Brake lights/ tail lights. Burn out. Replace circuit boards.three times. Water gets to the bottom socket.
I was sitting in traffic at a dead stop, then when the traffic light changed to green i put my foot on the gas pedal. As soon as i did the accelerator pedal stuck, went all the way to the floor and caused me to hit the vehicle in front of me. Also my gas gauge didn't work and would randomly move back and forth, even if i had a full tank of gas. Then, the driver side brake light continued to go out due to the melting of the part of the bulb, not the bulb itself. My electric sliding door on passenger side came off the track due to the cord and pulley/motor in the door. I could never get the door to work other than by manually opening and closing the door after that.
The contact owned a 2000 chevrolet venture. After being parked for two days, the vehicle suddenly caught fire. The contact mentioned that the fire originated in the engine compartment and caused a garage located next to the vehicle to catch fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. There were no injuries. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was 115,000.
While driving vehicle will died out and loss all power causing all power operated components to be inoperative ex, windows, door locks etc.,the dealership indicated that this problem is caused by a failure in the electrical system. Please provide more details. Ts
In december 2007 my son parked our 2000 chevy venture van and went inside.10 minutes later someone told him the car was on fire.it was put out with a garden hose.fire started in window control panel destroying the door and part of the dash, soot filled interior.side window and windshield broken due to heat.windows had not been used due to cold weather.van was totaled by insurance company.
Mini van was trying to turn over or start itself without help of keys or people being in vehicle. Does not have auto starter that some people put on cars to start in cold weather.first started this in early a.m. On weekend while owner still sleeping. Before owner realized it was their vehicle (they live in apt complex) they drove their vehicle through out day without incident. Later when parked it tried again when owner was in apt. Took too auto shop and starter was replaced . Drove throughout day again without incident thinking problem was solved. Later about 10:30 p.m. It tried turning over, repeating at 2:30 a.m. Then every 15-20 minutes until 5:30 a.m. Went back too shop to take another look. Shop is not sure what problem is except something somewhere electrical., but if starts itself could cause fire.
After replacing the cluster module, the vehicle did not start. Yh
Passenger sliding door opens after closes.door ajar will come on while driving.door does not completely close.
We own a 2000 chevy venture that we bought used about 4 years ago. When we bought it, the button for the doors to open automatically didn't work as well as the gas gauge. Since, we have replaced the heads, the water pump, rack and pinion, wheel hub, tie rod end, as well as replacing the head lights every couple months and now having problems with the brake lights.when we had the heads replaced, they flushed the radiator and we are still having problems with the low coolant light coming on and the fluid looking cloudy. They told us that the cloudiness sometimes happens, but still doesn't explain the light coming on saying its low!!!we were also notified that the abs box is bad and needs replaced...also, sometimes there is water that leaks from the weather gauge or the top of the windshield. Also the traction system light comes on and actually shuts the system off when you turn the van on, this maybe due to the bad abs box but has been doing this longer then the abs light has been on. There is also rust along the van below the sliding doors. The locks also sometimes stick when using the keypad or the electrical lock button inside the van.we can't wait to get rid of this van! just hope we have better luck with our next vehicle.
While driving 20 mph driver was not able to shift gears. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to a garage for inspection. Mechanic determined that the computerneeded to be replaced.
The vehicle failed to start.the battery was charged over night and the vehicle still did not start.the dealer determined that water had enter the electrical system causing a wire shortage.the manufacturer had authorized the dealer to repair the seals of the firewall that allowed water to enter the electrical system.the electrical system will be replaced at the owners expense.please provide further details.
While turning into the garage the power went out, as a result, consumer's vehicle crashed into the fence. Consumer had no lights, no alarm, no power windows, and no radio, all due to the electrical system blowing up the fuel injectors.please provide any further information..
The van would shut down while i was driving.it would not restart.i would have it towed to dealer. Dealer never found problem. They blamed it on electrical system. Happened at least 3 times.dealer would have records. I would lose control of steering.breaking was very difficult.
In our 2000 chevy venture the fuel gauge seems to randomly choose the fuel level it will indicate. It rarely seems to show what i would guess to be theactual fuel level. I even saw the gauge swinging back and forth a couple of times. It once resulted in my wife running out of gas while en route topicking up our children from school (while the gauge said there was more than half a tank).
Transmission shifting very hard to the point of actually making noise. The fuel gauge quit working about 3 years ago, it just goes back and forth to whatever it feels like. Crankshaft pulley separated at highway speed causing the belt to jump and tangle in everything, too the point of actually being pulled into the front main seal causing that to have to be replaced.
2000 chevrolet venture: i bought the vehicle new jan 01, on around 4 june 2003 i noticed the car would not start.i checked the battery cables, and when i grabbed the positive cable, it broke off from the battery terminal.acid had apparently been leaking from the terminal and eventually corroded the battery post/terminal.this caused premature failure and i had to go buy a replacement battery.i did not report it to chevrolet dealer because original 36,000 mile warranty had expired.my co-worker has a 1998 chevrolet venture and he just informed me that his ac/delco battery had the same exact problem and he just replaced his on 31 aug 2003.
I have owed the vehicle for 53 days and have to have it towed 4 times and replace fuel pump twice, the battery once. Luckily the pump conked out while parked, and not at an intersection. My wife is pregnant with our third child, and the van has stranded her 4 times. I had the dealership run a check on the past repair history of the van and hey! the pump was replaced(by the previous owner) on 7/6/01 and again on 8/04/01. With the addition of my two pumps, that brings the total to 4, obviously. The van has 38000 miles and four fuel pumps, i think that speaks for itself. I have written a letter to chevrolet, of course don't expect a favorable response. Another factor of complete irritation is the placement of the battery. It is nearly impossible for an average joe like myself to access the battery to replace it. I had to pay $200 for parts and labor for a battery, which i could replace myself if the thing wasn't designed (seemingly) to prevent owner maintenance. I would definitely not recommend this vehicle to anyone. When it runs it's nice, but unless you want to run the risk of having it towed once every 13 days and paying $520 in repairs and tows while only owing the car for less than two months, purchase something else. I purchased my van on 12/26/2000 and drove it home. I had trouble starting the next day, but finally started and i used it. I parked overnight and could not start it on 12/28. It was towed in by dealer on 12/29 and released to me the next day claiming loose battery connection as cause of problem. I used it half day on 12/30 and parked overnight. Again it would not start on 12/31. Dealer took it in today today and van is still with dealer as at this time my mail. I was told the van is in perfect running condition. But now i am not so sure of what to think. I am frustrated and worried about the safety of my family using this van. What am i doing or not doing that could be causing this problem? thank you for giving me the chance to report my problem.
Consumer states that the positive post on the battery had a defect and started leaking battery acid.
Due to a bad fuel pump vehicle was not receiving the proper feed of fuel to the carburetor, causing vehicle to shut off while driving.dealer has been contacted.starter failed.
When i bought the car (10/04/00) the horn intermittently didn't work. On 3/14/01 i bought a replacement horn relay (p/n 12088567) at the dealer & told the service dept of the problem & that i would wait until it permanently didn't work. That didn't solve the problem. I assumed they noted that on my service record. The problem continued & i had them look at it 12/14/01 during which time they said they tightened some loose connections. The problem continued & on 9/5/02 i brought it back. They road tested the vehicle & reported that the horn initially didn't work but started to work again before they got it back to the garage. They cleaned some connections but the problem persists. Today, i contacted chevrolet customer service who told me that i had to pay for a diagnostic test (when the horn wasn't working, of course, which is probably less than 5% of the time) & would probably have to pay for any subsequent repairs. I believe that, since i was sold a vehicle with a defective piece of safety equipment, the manufacturer has the responsibility to rectify the situation, regardless of how many miles elapsed since the problem occurred (at 0 miles). I couldn't predict when the problem would occur so it was impossible to schedule a service date.
Dt*:the contact stated the horn is inoperable.the vehicle has not been inspected by a mechanic.
Vehicle dies cannot be restarted, also died when in motion
Car shuts down without any warning.no power steering, no power brakes
Intermittently when trying to start vehicle it will not turn over. Dealer has repaired vehicle three times inpast month, and stated that it is a wiring problem, but has not been able to duplicate problem. Dealer has replacedfuel pump.

No start condition, second time in two weeks.
Electronic control module needed to be replaced because vehicle stalled whileconsumer was driving onhighway. Please provide more information.
When making a sharp right 90 degree turn the inside courtesy lights came on. Dealership indicated that a short in the ignition switch created a short in the steering column switchwhich was replaced.currently, theproblem recurred. Dealershipindicated that nothing was wrong with the vehicle.
*sc
Air conditioner will shut off when set at 5.took to dealer, and they replacedblower motor resister3different times.also, when starting vehicle headlightsare suppose to come on,butnothing comes on. Consumerslammed glove compartment, and headlights came on. Took to dealer, and they couldn't duplicate the problem. Service manager informed consumer that the circuit box behind the glove box was so hot that she almost got burned twice, consumer has had burned wires replaced.
2000 chevy venture wb edition - passenger side front power window fails intermittently.i have had this car to the shop 4 times for the same problem, which they are unable to duplicate.when the problem occurs, the dealership is not open (like on labor day when i was unable to secure my car!).the passenger side switch was replaced on 5/9/05 and vehicle has been in to the dealership (lanna chevrolet in woburn, ma) again in 6/05, 7/05 and 9/05 for the same problem.when the original problem occurred(5/05) the driver's side switch for the passenger side front window failed, but i was able to use the passenger side switch to close the window.on 9/05/05, both switched failed to operate the window to close it.dealership has been less than helpful in getting problem fixed - which should be covered under my extended warranty (60,000 miles).i am, however, now at 58,800 and am being told that there is nothing they can do - but they have failed to actually check the wiring visually as it is 'too much work' and 'who is going to pay them'.
Vehicle experienced electrical problems, service security light, battery light, fuel light, and radio all flashed, dealer found no problems, however the problem occurred and this time a dealer tightened a loose wire under the hood which fixed the problem.
While drivingvehicle caught on fireunder the hood.consumer had the vehicle towed.consumer will contact the manufacturer.

Our van broke down in canon city which is approx. 136 miles from northglenn but we had been driving at speeds from 55 to 75 miles mph & if the van would have quit at those speeds we probably would have been killed or seriously injured but fortunately we were lucky but my concern is letting other drivers know of the serious defect that could possibly cause engine failure & fatal injuries.
Just another venture with faulty intake manifold gasket.also had short in fuse terminal block.last chevy i will own.
Can send a more readable version on request. I'd like to point out a very real and dangerous issue with chevrolet ventures.we bought a 2000 model this spring.while traveling one day, my wife and i, in the front seats, thought we smelled smoke.we figured that a vehicle that passed us on the interstate was spewing fumes, so we didn't really think it was anything serious.a few seconds later, smoke starting pouring out of the front passenger seat!i yelled at my wife to pull over, and she and our three children immediately evacuated the vehicle.i stood by the passenger door, trying to find the source of this smoke, which was pouring out from the front and the back of the seat.i pulled out the storage drawer under the seat, expecting something there.it was at that point that i looked behind the seat, so see the entire bottom of the seat glowing bright orange from open flames.instinct took over at that point, and i very quickly pulled out the contents under the seat - a child's book, a spiral-bound notebook, and a nylon seat-belt cover designed for children.i then began stamping out the items and the burning carpet with my shoes and bare hands.all of this took, at most, 15-20 seconds.my wife successfully pulled the children very far away from the vehicle, for fear of the fire spreading, and maybe even causing an explosion.had i thought about my actions rather than reacting by instinct, i probably should have left the vehicle as well.the cause?there are several connectors under the front seats of the chevy venture.on our van, the sets of black connectors are not used.(i would guess they are for power seats, which we do not have).at any rate, these connectors are "hot" (meaning there is a voltage present on the pins of the connectors) and not covered in any way.when my daughter stopped drawing in her spiral-bound notebook, it fell off the seat, and landed under the front seat.the wire in the notebook created a short between the unpr.
Electrical cluster was rusted causing failure/shorting of other components (speedometer, abs, seat belt and coolant lights). Yh
2000 chevrolet venture minivan, front wiper motor does not return wipers to normal parked position, they remain vertical on windshield when shut off. Obstructs and distracts view, more prone to freeze up during winter months. Have seen numerous ventures on the road with identical condition.

Coolant light on no heat. Transmission would jerk from 20 klms too 60 klms
Chevy garage discovered an intake manifold gasket leak during routine maintanance work on my 2000 venture at 50,000 miles. It would cost $900-plus to fix. Three separate mechanics told me that this was a common problem on this particular engine and that i could expect to have it done again in the next two to three years. It seemed common knowledge that this component was due to fail in a relatively short period of time, however, chevy garage told me that general motors was not offering any recalls or discounts on the service.

The coolant light keeps coming on and off.we have added coolant throughout the winter and then again a couple of weeks ago (june 2004). We believe there is a defect or a leak.
Venture 3.4l w/49.9k- coolant overflow was empty and has been low several times.after web research, i found many owner (3.4l engine of any model car/van) complaints and an intake-manifold-leak website and on your nhtsa website with complaints of gasket problem and a possilbe relationship to texeco dexcool coolant. At this time, gm has a better intake gasket design and switched to prestone coolant since last year. They seem to address this issue discretely. I also looked more closely at my engine and now see (intake) leaks/wetness but small. March 22, 2004, i have contacted gm assistance - 800.462.8782 (linda cooper - service request #1-200466551) and discussed my surmise of the coolant loss and a pervasive problem which more complaints should occur as more vehichles miles go beyond 40k. Since many websites describes in detail and put up pictures of the leaks, the gaskets defects and related problems if not monitored and allowed to run at point of low coolant warning could likely cause overheating, oil dilution, engine damage andother problems.with all this information, gm would not acknowledged a known problem, problem familiarity, nor allow any warranty repair because there is "no recall" in process.i was then conferenced-called to a local dealer who offer me 10% discount for a ~$600 plus cost of repair to any other problems found. This is not an option i prefer, as this problem occurs out of warranty, 2nd owner of car, i do my own maintenance without use of the dealer services; otherwise i may have gotten this fixed under some/partial warranty but i was not given this option. But if this is a defect which will only occur "after" warranty coverage, eventually everyone will have this problem. If i go to a private shop for a more cost effective repair, gm will only reimburse me, only when and if there is a recall.
*sc
Vehicle failed to start.change fuel filter.didn't fix the problem.now my dex-cool is leaking, shorted out cam position sensor.has had low coolant for at least a year.can't understand how a vehicle can use so much coolant.vehicle is still parked, not running, had mechanic check vehicle with a scan tool, says the cam sensor is bad.
Leaky intake manifold on the 3.4l engine. Loose coolant.
Leaky intake manifold.gm is aware of the problem. Van has only 42000 miles.it is a 2000 chevy venture.intake manifold leaks can lead to any number of very serious, and expensive, problems. While the part itself isnt costly, the labor to repair it is very intensive, and has been quoted around $800 usd (give or take a couple hundred depending on the vehicle). This is in addition to any other costly problem(s) the intake manifold gasket leak may have produced.
Dt: the consumer starting experiencing problems with the vehicle on mar 18th, 2005. The consumer felt a skip or sputter while driving or at a stop sign.the dealertold the consumer to put dry gas in the vehicle which solve the problem. The check engine light illuminated, so the dealer tightened the gas cap. The abs light illuminated.
I have gotten the same problem fixed on my chevy venture van (2000) this will be the third time...the intake gasket keeps blowing out...i would hope if any other gm vehicle with this same problem would come forward so there can be a recall on this, so we can get it fixed...trust me it is not a "cheap" fix at all. This has been fixed within the last 4 years...3 times...the car starts leaking antifreeze, and over heating the vehicle.
Cracked intake manifold on 3.4l engine. Faulty seal. Coolant leaking into engine oil.
Had to replace the lower intake manifold on the coolent system
On 2-18-03 my 2000 venture was serviced for a tow package. The invoice is ctcs280208. When i picked up the vehicle i noticed on the job sheet "note intake gaskets leaking coolant approximate cost 450.00"i met with service manager roy stoner to discuss other issues which i am happy to report were satisfactorily resolved. I am meticulous about watching for leaking fluid in my vehicles and having had none on the venture i asked him to show it to me. When we lifted the hood i noted that my coolant reservoir was empty. With the use of a flexible light he showed me the puddle antifreeze on the rear of the intake manifold. I asked him how this was detected since none of the work involved this part of the engine and there was no drip indication. Roy informed me that they routinely check the intake manifold gasket on these vehicles because there have been chronic failures of them. "i can probably pull one out of the garbage can right now." was his response. "this is a horrible design or a torque problem." he called over one of your mechanics who suggested it be repaired immediately or risk replacing the engine should the leak become internal. I have an appointment scheduled for thursday february 27. Since then i have done considerable research on this issue. I have discovered a web site petition signed by over 2,000 gm customers with the same issue at http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?gmcnsmrsi tried calling gm customer assistance center and was given a service request number of 1-75030610 and told to get the tsb number and call them back. My research shows that many customers are having the repair done with a $100 deductible or at no cost. In september of 2002 this gasket was on a "national back-order." it appears a class action lawsuit is also in the works and the ntsb has launched an investigation.it also appears a new gasket has been or will be available soon.
2000 chevrolet. Venture van at 45300 miles the intake and the head gasket went.i had my van service at denny hacken polar chevrolet. In white bear lake, mn and the total cost was 1550.00. *nlm
Van was brought in for service with a "low coolant" light and a loud noise coming from the engine. The van is 3 years old with 48k miles. I was told that i had an intake manifold gasket leak. This caused coolant to mix in with the engine oil which caused a cam bearing failure. The engine was completely damaged and needed to be replaced. My car was at the dealer (scott chevrolet in emmaus, pa) for 17 days getting repaired because of a defective $20 gasket! the dealer service manager told me that this gasket failure occurs often and it is something that they normally inspect in vans with this style engine at 40k miles. *nlm
I have a chevy venture 2000. For the last 6 months i have had oil spots on the ground in the garage, and have had to keep filling up the coolant resevoir tank for a few weeks now. I had the car checked at the dealer for the oil spots after having them do an oil change months ago. They told me not to worry about that small amount of oil. However when i took it in to get checked why i was having to add coolant they found that the intake manifold gasket was leaking. It cost me $600.00 to have this repaired. My van has 86k miles on it. It has had the gasket replaced twice now. I have researched info for this problem and have found many other vehicle owners of the 3.1l and 3.4l motors in gm's having the same problem. Why does this continue to be a problem? this has to be damaging the engine having coolant being able to leak into it. The service station i went to does several of these a month on 1998 to 2001 models with these engines. They told me that there is a flaw with either the gasket or the dex cool that corrodes the gasket.
Leaking lower intake gasket failure at 42,727 miles. Apparently very large number of vehicles experiencing same failure- over $800.00 repair!gm will not take any responsibilty for the problem.
Engine manifold gasket leak's coolantmy 2000 venture lost coolant on more than one occasion and began to run hot.at the time it had between 55,000 and 60,000 miles on it.i took it to an independent mechanic, who had seen the problem several times before, and he repaired it at a cost of about 600.00.i have the receipt if you need a copy.he replaced both manifold gaskets and the thermostat.it would be great if you can get gm to take responsibility for this default.i understand it is very common in these engines.
Leaking intake manifold gasket. Estimated repair costs $625. Management at our dealership admits others having same problem and that gm has a new gasket design, if they are aware of this failure then it should be offered at no chargeto replace.
When i started the engine, oil pressure light came on and the warning sounded, so i shut down immediately. Towed vehicle to mechanic.. Mechanic said coolant was in the oil pan and parts have failed (bearings, etc..)andi was in need of a new engine, i have no estimates as of yet, nor have i called gm or the dealer that i bought the van from, i decided to investigate on the internet first and have found a petition to sign at (you might want to look here)http://www.petitiononline.com/gmcnsmrs/petition.html and this site
Front evaporator core failure. Dealer stated to me that he had had several similiar repairs on chev. Ventures. I would like to know if manufacturer would consider sharing thecost of the repairs.
Material used for head gasket and exhaust manifold gasket were made from material which deteriorated when exposed to coolant. Manufacturer developed new gasket from aluminum to replace, but no recall was ever issued to acknowledge the problem.this has cost me approximately $2500 in repairs, and could have resulted in major engine damage.the dealer service center seemed to be well aware of the issue, as they acted like this wasn't the first one they had seen.the first repair i had was for the exhaust manifold gasket, and it came to $1300. Less than 4 months and 5000 miles later, it was back in the garage with a defective head gasket. Dealer was kind enough to discount the repair, but still came to another $1300. This was on a vehicle that only has 63000 miles on it.
Temperature guage malfunctions.yh
We purchased this van from a local dealer about 5 months ago.it had just 40,000 miles on it.since then we have had the oil changed twice and in between oil changes we have had to add over 6 quarts of oil.at 600 miles we had put in 2 quarts of oil.there is no sign of leaking and no sign of smoke from the exhaust.we purchased an extended warranty and will be taking it to the dealer, hopefully, next week.
We have a 2000 chevy venture wb edition and have had problems with the intake manifold. It appears to be leaking and we are in fear that it will do harm to the engine. I have talked with the mechanic and he says that this is a common problem with this vehicle but gm has never issued a recall. Whay is that? if this is so common why not fix it!
Dex-cool in my 2000 venture failed. Turned to a solid and resulted in intake repalacement.
Last winter i left my 2000 chevrolet venture van (with a 3.4 liter v6 engine) idling for about 10-15 minutes while i worked outside it. When i got back inside, the heat gauge was about 3/4 the way to hot, and neither of the (2) electric radiator cooling fans were running. The engine ran cool for normal unconjested traffic after this. In mid summer the heat gauge again went 3/4 hot while i was in slow moving stop-and-go traffic. To prevent heat damage, i ran the heater full blast in mid 80's weather; -no fun! i troubleshoot the radiator fans control system and found that the pcm (power-train control module; (computer)) wasn't working properly. I replaced the pcm myself with an after-market, reflashed (reprogrammed with gm up-to-date software) unit, but i couldn't get the pcm to do its 'crankshaft variation relearn procedure' with my equipment, so i took the van to my gm dealership to have it done, and also to have the cooling fans tested.my dealership tested the fans and found they now worked, finished the pcm work, but they also said that it overheated and blew coolant right out of the reservoir; they diagnosed it with blown head gaskets on both front and rear parts. (it doesn't sound blown, have coolant in the oil, or put exhaust in the coolant that i can see.)they quoted $1147.50 labor & $390. Parts, & whatever it cost for a machine shop to correct any head warpage, to correct the problem. They also advised my wife (who brought in the van), that the van should not be driven until the head gasket problem is fixed. I have talked with several people who told me that most everyone who had this 3.4 liter gm engine has had to have the head gasket replaced.one person said that they thought the government should do something since the problem appears to be so wide spread.i suspect that the pcm failing to turn on the cooling fans was what caused this head gasket failure in my case.do you have other people reporting head gasket problems?
Intake manifold leaking antifreeze onto the ground and into the environment.known issue that gm refuses to address - affects all 3800cc engines prior to about 2004.known defect.
Noticed coolant leaking brought into my mechanic he diagnosed " replace intake manifold gaskets", brought van to chevy to see if perhaps a recall because i was told by mechanic that this problem is common with this engine, but i was told no recall and they are unaware of a problem with this engine. So i paid $1,265 to chevy to repair their defect on a 2000 chevy venturewith just under 25k miles. And they wonder why people are buying foreign made cars!!!!!
Was loosing coolant a month out of warr.(less than 36k miles in 2003) dealer replaced head gasket (same on a '97 venture i had) and squeaked it under warr. Now 5 years later at 63k mile, the same head gasket, same spot. Dealer said that this is common and replace them all the time with these engines but no recall at all.
Intake manifold gasket failed causing coolant to mix with engine oil.
I noticed red fluid on one of the lines below in the area of the coolant reservoir. I do have dexcool in the system. I have not diagnosed the problem as to where the coolant is leaking from but i notice the reservoir gets low periodically. I fear it is leaking from the gasket but not sure yet. I have nothing but problems with this vehicle. I have had to spend $600-$1000 every year which a couple of the repairs gm took care of after reaming them out. Their product is terrible and i will never buy another gm again.
The vehicle developed a smell that was foul, with a slight odor of antifreeze. Dealer replaced the filters.however, the smell was still there.currently, a coolant lightcame on and the antifreeze wasleaking into the oil.
We have spent 3 years flushing radiator with dexcool--still having overheating which causes problems with our transmission--every time seeing sludge in overflow tank within a month after fresh flush--this month we have replaced water pump, and replacing radiator, oil cooler, and going back to regular green antifreeze after hearing of similar problems and worse in chevrolet models using dexcool!! unknown if damage has been caused to transmission for 3 summers of overheating...can't drive in stop/go traffic safely in warm weather knowing that cooling system/transmissionwill fail in those conditions. We've spent several hours stopped under shade trees to let engine cool down enough to get to destination.
We are experiencing failure of the intake manifold gasket at about 42000 miles.this is a known problem by chevrolet and thousands upon thousands of people are having this issue.this is a potentially catastrophic failure, as it can lead to severe engine damage by coolant mixing with engine oil.chevrolet is charging upwards of $1000 for repairs for this known design problem.
2000 chevy venture v6 47000miles. I recently had leaking intack manifold gasket repaired at dealer ($700). Apparently this is a common problem across the gm product line with this engine. I contacted corporate gm complaint department but they offered no assistance.the van has been in shop once each year for low coolant indication. Had temp switch changed twice. Last year i notice sludge on oil filler cap indicating moisture in oil but dealer did not think it was a problem.i feel this is a common and serious problem gm should be made to recognize and compensate it's customers for.
My 2000 chevy venture van had an overheating problem when the coolant was full. I researched on google and found there to be complaints about this specific van problem on this make and year. Is there a recall or any way thatthe problem can be fixed for no charge? the repair shop says it has seen this on this vehicle as will and the cost to fix the cracked head gasket is $1200.00i appreciate any help that you can give me with this matter. I signed up for printout of research but please disregard as this complaint form is what i needed. Thanks.
When completely stopped, the vehicle raced and immediately lunged foward as soon as the brake pedal was released. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on 6/19/2003 and the consumer was informed the intake manifold gasket had a leak.
I had my radiator flushed and was told that there seemed to have oil in my coolant. I was told by our mechanic that the head gasket had started to disintegrate, which was causing the coolant to leak into the oil.he said this was a common problem with dexcool which is the recommended coolant to be used in our van.if gm recommends that this coolant be used, then they should have to pay for the repairs.which is going to cost us about $800 or more if our engine blows.when we finally do get the problem fixed we will not be putting the red dexcool back in it, we are switching to the green, it was recommended by our mechanic. We can't afford to fix this problem right now we have to wait for tax refunds, because my husband is a disabled vet and we are on a limited income.. Shame on gm for taking advantage of their consumers like this, and i can see from all the complaints listed here they have known about the problem for quite some time.
-the contact called to file a complaint about the service bulletin she found on our website, #030601010 dated 03/01/03.the contact states that her 2000 chevrolet venture has had the same repair that the service bulletin refers to.the repair was done on 12/21/06for the lower intake manifold, and the repair cost the contact $696.07. The contact does have her repair order.
2000 chevy venture - 56000 miles ntake manifold gasket - leaking oil into the radiator and anti- freeze in the oil. Epair cost of $900 to fix - spoke to gm assistance and since i do not visit the dealer on a regular basis - there will be no compensation on this repair. This is a issue that has affected a lot of gm vehicles with the 3.4l engine. There are postings on the interent inregards to complaints of this failure.

I own a 2000 chevy venture with 52000 miles. I recently noticed small puddles of anti-freeze on my garage floor. I immediately took my van to my mechanic and he states that a leak is coming from the manifold intake gasket. I discovered this is an ongoing problem with gm vehicles with this type of engine and numerous complaints have been filed. Gm knows of this manfacturer defect but fails to act in repairing this problem. This is a serious safety issue and can cause major engine problems if not repaired if other damage has not already occured due this manufacturer defect. The out of pocket cost to the consumer is seven hundred dollars on up.
Purchased a new chevy venture van in may of 2000, at 19,000 miles it the intake manifold gasket needed toreplaced. Work was performed under warranty at the same dealership. Now at 42,800 miles, the same gasket is leaking again. Although,i purchased the extended warranty in may 2000, they say someone called & cancelled the warranty a year ago. How can they avoid the huge number of complaints concerning this problem with no recalls?
At approximately 47,000 miles there was determined to be a consumption of coolant, with no leaks outside of the engine.there was then a leak that started outside of the engine a few hundred miles later.vehicle was taken to dealer for repair ($800) of the intake manifold gasket.upon research on the internet it was determined that this failure is very common to the gm v6 engines (which the service manager confirmed).this needs to be a recall!!gm is aware of this with technical service bulletin 03-06-01-010.
Intake manifold gasket fails, permitting loss of coolant, coolant in oil, oil in coolant. Expensive (labor intensive) to repair. Gm has since redesigned gasket (seemingly acknowledging defect). Problem is know to be widespread, affecting many models and years. Can cause sudden, catastrophic engine failure.
Engineis making a very loud knocking noise. Dealership only listened tovehicle, and determined noise to be a ticking noise thatwas coming fromair conditioner. Consumer stated that ticking occurred whenair conditioner was on or off.she did not feel thatnoise was coming fromair conditioner.*note: consumer's husband discovered oilleaking fromengine head gasket. Dealership stated that this was normal, and should not be considered a problem.please provide any additional information/attachments.
When i bought this 2000 chevrolet venture van i purchased the mfg.extendedwarranty up to 75,000 miles.right after the extended warranty ran out, the van developed a serious head gasket leak and the transmission has been goingcrazy.i checked around and found out that both these problems are very common on the venture van!i call the mfg. And was told they would not help!this is the reason buyers feel that they made a mistake buying american madevehicles.these are problems that have occurred in many instances and the mfg. Knows this and are not willing to do a recall.i should have bought a toyota.general motors knows these problems exist and are due to poor workmanship and do not care about owner loyalty or retaining their customerbase for future sales.both of these problems are more widespread thanwhat is documented due to lack of reporting..please help!!!*la
Vehicle cuts off while driving and at stops - when this happens vechicle will crank but not start.security light will flash when this happens.gives no warning when shutting off.
Dt:fuel system is not connected correctly which causes the fuel to mix andto drain.the head gasket blew off because of this.
I have had a 2000 chevy venture for 39 months and 45,000 miles.it has developed, as i have heard many others, a intake manifold gasket leak.while just out of warranty, and obviously a defect as it is affecting so many vehicles, the dealer will not cover any of the repairs because it has not been recalled by gm.with the vast number of failures of this part, this is obviously a design flaw that needs to be recalled.the worst part of this defect, is there is no warning that it will happen and once it has leaked coolant into the engine, there is no guarantee the future life of the engine has not been compromised.please assist us in forcing gm to own up to their responsibility and take care of this problem.
Just another venture with faulty intake manifold gasket.also had short in fuse terminal block.last chevy i will own.
On three occasions vehicle would not start. Vehicle was towed to the dealer on all three occasions. Dealer was unable to duplicate or correct the problem. Check engine light still remains on. *ml

During an idle situation, (at rest or in motion), a high pitched, intermitent, whistling sound is eminating from the left side engine compartment.this corresponds in occurrence frequency to a variation in interior/exterior light intensity (flickering).once moving (engine not idling), noise & light intensity variation goes away.
As you can see the van has minimal mileage with multiple repairs.reported directly via e-mail to chevrolet.also received a file number and sent copies of repairs directly to chevrolet.the last e-mail was sent 5/23 because my van had a puddle of gasoline 2 ft wide and 1 1/2 ft long underneath it.could have taken out children, home and van itself.dealer claims it is a faulty gas tank.will be replacing with new.vehicle lives at dealer.not enough space to tell the "legend of the lemon"
Engine manifold leakage from five new vehicles.dealer notified, and repaired two under warranty, and waiting onothers.
61,000 losing collant due to intake gasket leaking. I have read several complaints of this problem and nothing is being done. Why not?
The manifold gasket has been leaking intermittently since the vehicle was new. We have returned it to the dealer for service and we were told that no problem existed. I have a friend who has had the same problem with his 2000 montano and ending up replacing the manifold gasket at great expense.my venture has 55,000 miles on it and this is far to soon in it's life for major repairs like this.*la
I took our 2000 chevrolet venture minivan in for service and they found that the intake manifold gasket was failing. This was causing anti freeze to leak into the engine which eventually would have caused the engine to need to be rebuilt. Come to find out the next day there is a gm tsb 03-06-01-010 on this exact problem. Our van has only 45,000 miles on it and i do not believe this should fail especially with so few miles on it.
Losing oil on 2000 chevrolet venture minivan and went for service. They found that the intake manifold gaskets leaking coolant and oil. They explained thiswould have caused critical engine issue if left. Have read many other complaints with this exact problem and also service notes from gm on this topic. The van has only 49000 miles. I paid over $950 to fix a gm defect.
Manifold gasket allowing anti-freeze to leak.*la
Labor day 2004 traveling through rocky mountain national park, engine coolant overheated. Had replaced coolant 2 months previous. Temperature gauge now always shows cool. Today had routine oil change and shop advised intake manifold gasket leaking and needing replaced. Uponresearching the problem, discovered it is extremely common on chevrolet 3.4l engine and often leads to cam shaft and even total engine failure and replacement. Gm currently ignoring condition.
Chevrolet venture with 40,000 miles develops coolant leak- dealer says it is intake manifold gasket and it would cost $900 + to repair. After much complaining to gm, they agreed to "extend" the warranty and repair the car for a $100 copay.however, this is a widespread problem and it needs to be recalled.whole websites are dedicated to complaining about chevy intake gaskets.the car could have a catstrophic engine failure, over heat and have a fire.it is a very serious problem and gm plans to continue to ignore it.i got lucky, but many people pay for repair which should never happen on an engine with 40,000 miles.gm should be ashamed.
Consumer took the vehicle to dealerforinspection, andmechanic determined thatplastic intake manifold was cracked, causing fluid to leak onto the engine.
While drivingvehicle reached high temperatures. Vehicle was taken to an independent shop, andmechanic determinedthat intake manifold failed.coolant spilled inside the engine.
Since purchasing my 2000 chevrolet venture minivan in october, 2000, i have been experiencing loss of coolant since december, 2003.at this time the car had just over 75,000 miles on it.none the less i had kept scheduled maintenance on the van.on every scheduled maintenance chevrolet prescribes ( from 7,500 miles to 90,000+) "check for oil and coolant leaks" is listed.i find it difficult to believe that at no time during any of these check up the mechanic at the dealer did not notice a coolant leak until 80,000+ miles later and after my warranty has expired.now, i have been advised that the intake manifold is leaking and the repairs are going to cost ~$900.00.i contacted gm customer service, and was given several excuses to justify chevrolet's action, (or lack therof), from "that's a lot of miles.and any part is going to wear out after a while" to "if there needed to be a recall it would have to be demanded by the government".hogwash!!! based on the number of complaints i have read this evening, and even the verbal confirmation from my service advisor that "we're seeing a lot of these", chevrolet does not have to wait for the government to say, we have a problem and we need to fix it.*la
2000 chevrolet venture van required replacement of intake manifold gaskets at aproximatley 60,000 miles fortunatiely no engine damage and cost was only around $600.00.
I'm writing you this letter since gm has refused to acknowledge they have a factory defect in the intake manifold gasket and bolts of may of their gm vehicles.:to include my2000 chev venture.recently while on a long trip over the holidays i noticed the low coolant light had illuminated and discovered our coolant was leaking.i took it to the shop today and it cost me $895 for the repair...not bad compared to some but still a cost one wouldn't expect to pay on a car only 3.5 years old and 70k miles. My wife and i have done some extensive research and found this seems to be a significant problem with gm cars but yet there is no recall for the problem.the result of these gasket failures is clearly a design flaw and we've n documentation where your company is paying for other models manifold repair cost. Looking over this site and others dedicated to this problem i've found numerous other stories similar and many even worse.i find it hard to believe gm is not stepping up to fix the cost of these repairs....they will lose my business.
Cooland level light came on next day discovered coolant leak right side
Vehicle brought to dealer. Dealer could not recreate condition after several hours of idlingin the yard.asked me if it had been rainning!vehicle was brought in to them "wet"on 8/1/00.dealer found problem to be improper a/c module sealant.module showed traces of heater box grease which was plugging drain.also found drain opening to be too small.re-sealed module and made opening larger.installed downspout off drain to eliminate any reverse pressure situations.

I purchased my 2000 chevy venture van 1year ago. Ever since i bought it thedriver side brake light has gone out several times. Each time my husband replaced the bulb and noticed that it was melted at the connection site. Now the passenger side is starting to havethe same problem! i was stopped by a lady the other day who told me that now apparently my turn signals on the back of the van are not working as well. I paid alot of money for this van 1year ago and it has multiple problems and it seems strange to me that it is the same problems that i see on this report all the time! chevy needs to make good on their mistakes and fix the problems that keep occurring to these mini vans! i have always bought gm, but i bought pontiac minivans. I will continue to do so in the future as soon as i can sell this one!
For 6-7 years we have experienced various lighting problems with our chevy venture (2000). The left rear circuit board has burned out twice. I recently put a new one on and now just about 12 weeks later, i am having break and blinker issues again. Actually, the blinker started having issues within days.
The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet venture.the contact stated that the front and back of the undercarriage were damaged and smashed in over the brake lines.in addition, the front passenger side axle makes strange crunching noises, the vehicle shimmies severely, and the cruise control fails to deactivate when it should.furthermore, the seat belts do not properly restrain the occupants and the headlights blink on and off while driving at night.the contact placed two new front tires on the vehicle, as well as a new set of brakes.the dealer stated that the vehicle was previously in a crash, in which the hood, fender, and undercarriage were damaged.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 103,000 and current mileage was 113,000.
Rear directional signals have worked intermittently for years.the right has been more intermittent than the left.often the right signal would blink very rapidly when the brakes were applied.now, all of a sudden, neither the brake lights nor the directional work most of the time.the high mount brake light still works and the directional signals on the dash both come on at the same time.the rear tail light circuit boards have been a significant safety problem on the gm minivans for years and it doesn't seem that anything has been done about it.
My brake lights keep going out. It turns out that every light bulb i install melts down within 2 months. I am not the only one with this problem. I found this form on a thread about defective venture tail light assemblies!
Brakes lights keep burning out melting plastic. A search online showed this happens alot and there is no permanent fix.
While driving at night, lights go dim. This happens intermittently. Took vehicle to dealer and dealer indicated that motor in exhaust manifold turns on, causing lights to go dim.dealer replaced battery, regulator ground screw, and alternator, but condition still exist.
The drivers side sliding door came off the hinge at the back. The door will not close properly now, and can not be used. The brake light burns out everytime it is replaced and looks like it melts the base of the bulb and the socket looks like it has been melted also.the middle section, drivers side seat belt will not release.
I own a 2000 chevy venture van the brake light constantly go out.. But when the turn signal went out and we changed the bulb, that is when the problems started now the brake lights on the drivers side do not work and the other lights are very dim.the back up lights work intermittently on that same side.. I took the assembly apart and noticed that the connector that goes into the circuit board is burned badly. This is a major safety issue, my wife drives our children around to and from school and other events every day.this year of van should too be recalled or the parts available at no cost to the owner due to it being a flaw in the design of this van.there are so many complaints on the internet about this problem it is becoming ridiculous..
The brake light on the drivers side constantly blows out.. We have replaced it numerous times, but it still blows.the base of the bulbs look melted on every one we have replaced.now the turn signal on the driver's side goes crazy and blinks very fast at random. It can work right for 20 times and then go crazy the next time it is used..
I own a 2000 chevrolet venture and i am having problems with my brake light bulbs melting in the sockets. I replace them and they work for a while until they melt resulting in the bulb burning out. I know of several other people that own chevy ventures that also have this problem.i feel that this problem needs to be looked into before it results in a fire or an accident.any help with this problem will be appreciated.
Headlights will randomly gooff and then come right back on again.dealership stated they could not determine a cause because they have notwitnessed this erratic operation.
Headlights right&left. Condensation is very high and water accumulates which can possibly cause the filiment to blow out it water bounces up into it.this can cause a problem while night driving ,espicially on dark roads such as we have in middleburg.the dealer states this is natural etc, but the amount of condensation where the water accumulates and stays in a puddle is not natural, dealer said the heat from filiment will dry it up but this does not happen,if you tap the glass the water runs down to form a puddle....i did report this to them before on the way back from a trip and kind of hoped they were right about drying up but this is not so, at first they said i had a cracked lens but both sides? i wish i had of got a written report of this visit at that time.i told them at the time i was concerned if this was an ongoing problem they should look into it to avoid any future problems.we owned a 1997 van prior to this and they replaced headlights at least 4 times for the same problem,( this is recorded)file #1-159770583 is the # i was told to use for communicating this problem .it talked to your agency verbally (nhta)thank youhenry beaudoin
Both headlights have a heavy condensation, causing reduced visibility during thenight and obstructing the consumer's view.the headlights had been replaced four times for the same problem.the condensation was so severe that it puddled when the glass was tapped which would cause it to blow out during night driving and cause a problem on the back unlit roads. *scc

My 2000 venture was parked on an incline nose down with a full tank of gas.after about one hour someone smelled gas.we found gas streaming out from under the van. There was no gas in my garage and i did not hit any objects on the way.i had the van towed to the dealer.must replace entire gas tank because 'check valve inside tank went bad'.cost $1100. This poor design makes ushave to replace the entire tank for one valve.not a maintenance issue.could have been a very dangerous situation.gm won't help pay for repair.
Fuel guage becomes erratic when tank becomes less than half full.
The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet venture. The contact stated the fuel gauge moved up and down and failed to display the accurate amount of fuel. The contact stated when she added gasoline to the fuel tank the fuel gauge would display empty. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told it was possible that the float used in the fuel tank to read gasoline levels had failed. The failure and current miles were 85,000. Fuel lines corroded, dangerous. Gasoline leaks. Sent to dealership for repairs. Notified that the parts are discontinued. This vehicle has been recalled for other fuel issues. Chevy dealer not able to repair vehicle that they built in 2000. If you have a 2000 chevy venture you should have the car fuel lines near the engine inspected and repaired and you should contact chevrolet & gm to insist that the build the replacement parts to repair the car so that people are not injured.
The fuel gauge indicator did not display the correct amount of fuel in the tank.the vehicle has stalled without warning because there was no fuel in the tank.the dealer determined that the fuel sensor needed to be replaced.*ph
I own a chevrolet venture 2000.. Extended.. At about 50,000 miles my fuel indicator is all over the place it say low fuel or full doesn't matter how much gas is in it.. Also the sliding door was shut one night and fell off in my kids hands..*nlm
I have a 2000 chevy venture.i brought it used in 1998.since having it i have no rear window wiper.heat and a/c work only when placed on high and work very little.drivers side window keeps falling and we have replaced the regulator on it, and our gas gauge doesn't work.i know of at minimum 5 people that are experiencing these same issues.i am at a loss when almost weekly we have to take door panel off to get window back on track when it rains you wouldn't want to be anywhere near my car because you would have an earfull.last year in april i also had to replace a head gasket because that blew. Oh and running out of gas is just nuts with all the stuff we have out there in the world gm should know how to build a gas gauge.not having heat in the winter isn't much fun either.what are you gonna do to make people happy.well lets start with the gas gauge the other stuff is minor compared to the rest.
I have had my van for a while i started notice jerking when changing gears, then the gas gauge quit working on the vans in 2005, the dealer told me i needed to purchase a sensor to make the gas gauge work, i was just sending my son off to college i didn't have any money so i drove on, next the belt broke on the car almost causing my son to wreck,( thank goodness for defensive driving in drives ed.). Then the transmission went out , had to pay to have repaired, just got the car back and the service engine soon light came on. Please help i have read the complaints and it seen we are all having the same problem, what is gm waiting on for someone to die are the car to catch a fire this is a manufacture defect come on fix it or give us somethingto have it repaired at the dealer.this is your business don't you want people to come back.
Reported antifreeze smell, dealer replaced intake manifold.continued to smell antifreezel however dealer detectedno problem.on 3/5/00 on the way to church, car overheated.contactedroadside assistance.have also reported a "clunking" noise coming from under van, but no known cause found yet.have had vehicle in shop 6 times in 5 months of ownership with various problems.
I have become aware of a problem with the intake manifold gaskets on the chevy venture.a friend of mine had this problem, and after researching on the internet.i have become aware of a potential problem with this part, which is a major repair.on several internet forums, people have stated that a few dealers have fixed the problem under the waranty clause , even though the waranty has expired.this problem was present when i bought the van.i as of now have not expericed this problem, however, i would like your department to look into this.i still owe $2000 on my venture, and would hate to have to incurr a repair bill, for something that existed when i purchased the van.thank you for anything that you may be able to do.iam going to call the dealership to inquire about this potential problem.dt

Due to a bad fuel pump vehicle was not receiving the proper feed of fuel to the carburetor, causing vehicle to shut off while driving.dealer has been contacted.starter failed.
Also on 12-7-2000replecement fuel pump that was replaced on 11-2-2000 stopped working during normal driving conditions.car coasted into parking lot where after a few minutes driver was able to restart vehicle.

I purchased a 2000 chevrolet venture van this past aug.2003, (mil. 57,900 );at a local dealership.this nov.2003,it developed a severe gas line leakage.taking it in for a check of the source,it was found to have a pressure line gas leak(the line rusted in the engine ompartment,by the drivers side fenderwell.this situation in my opinion is a fire hazard!!!! this vehicle is almost new!!!!!!!!the van now has only 58,312 miles on it.

Automatic transmission won't go into 2nd or 3rd gears. Windshield wipers won't go back into park.gas tank stop registering and cross bars on window motor were broken.
Fuel gauge erratic and does not accurately reflect amount of fuel in tank. Low fuel light comes on regardless of fuel level in tank.
Gas guage does not register unless the tank is totally full, then it just drops down to empty whenever it wants.i feel that this is a safety hazard due to ending up with an empty gas tank at any time. The only thing that i can do is try to keep track of my miles. This has also happened to a friend of ours whom also owns the same brand of van.
The gas gauge on the chevy ventura does not work and this is a consistent problem with the ventura line.sometimes as little as 15,000 miles and the gas gauge either stays on full ( no matter how many miles you drive) or it stays on empty.either way, it is a problem that hundreds of buyers have experienced.
The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet venture.the rear passenger seat belt buckle would not unlock.the passenger was locked in the rear seat belt due to the latch failure. The fire department had tocut the seat belt webbing to release the passenger.the fuel gauge wasreading incorrectly.regardless of the amount of fuel in the vehicle the gauge continuously wasreadingincorrectly as if the fuel levelwas full.the current and failure mileage were 132,553.
The gas gauge is not working properly. It will tell incorrect fuel level, usually either completely full or say flat on empty even though we know for a fact that there is gas in it.
At start of van, the fuel gage moves back and forth on the gage. It registers 0 gallons when there is fuel in the tank. This is on a vechile that is <4 years old. The dealer states that he has seen this problem before in the chevy venture van with low mileage. It will cost >$800 to fix since the wareenty has exired. I will never buy a gm vehicle again!
When making a sharp right 90 degree turn the inside courtesy lights came on. Dealership indicated that a short in the ignition switch created a short in the steering column switchwhich was replaced.currently, theproblem recurred. Dealershipindicated that nothing was wrong with the vehicle.

Consumer states that the electric sliding door opens on its own, recall repairs, 01v067, were made, however problem still exists.
I have had my 2000 venture in for power sliding door repairs three times. The first two times the dealer attempted to fix the problem according to the safety recall bulletin. The problem still persisted, and was fixed when the dealer installeda new power sliding door motor and clutch assembly. This stopped the door from intermittent binding, and nowthe power sliding door opens and closes correctly. The dealer replaced the motor, clutch assembly, actuator and retainer. Dan kruse pontiac (the dealer) was very nice, and i wasn't charged for this service. To whom this bill went to i don't know. But, i have an extended warranty on this van. The reason i have submitted this report is that the safety recall on the 2000 venture van may not entirely fix this problem. The "binding" problem that existed on the power sliding door may have weakened the power sliding door motor and clutch assembly to where it has to be repaired. The original safety recall on the power sliding door problem may not be complete yet. Thanks.**** dims 11 ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****761006.
Consumer receivedrecall notification 01v067000. Dealership has been unable to receive parts frommanufacturer to correct the defect.
Vehicle experienced problems with the locks, and the power windows. Ownercontacted the manufacturer, who indicated that there was no recall for this problem.
It started the second week of june are 2000 chevy venture van power sliding door stop working and was in the lock position and could not be unlock either by power or manually.i took it to the dealership and had to pay over 600.00 to get that repaired. My problem is what if this happens again and i get into a wreck there would be no way i could get my kids out of car. So if you can help me with this i would apperiated it. I think that should have been something they could have pay for.thanks.
Consumer complained about a problem with the automatic sliding door on the passenger's side. The door would close without warning. It had to be held open with force.
While traveling at approximately 40 mph drivers side non-powered sliding door came open while there were 5 children invehicle.dealership examined sliding door and could not determine a reason forproblem.also, on june 5 2001,non-powered passenger side sliding door came open whilevehicle was in motion with 2 children in the vehicle.dealership again could not determine a reason fordefect, and were unwilling to assistconsumer. Also, consumer noted that child safety locking mechanisms were active on each occasion that this problem occurred.please provide any additional information/attachments.
Automatic sliding doorclosed on my daughter's hand.it did not stop closing, and i had to forcefully open it to free her hand.her hand was smashed between door edge and door frame.
Dt*: the contact stated that the power sliding door module was defective on the vehicle and was a different component than what was recalled(01v264000).the dealer offered to fix the recalled component, but stated the sliding door would not function properly unless the contact had the power sliding door module replaced.
Passenger sliding door opens after closes.door ajar will come on while driving.door does not completely close.
Consumer states power sliding door will not close and / or the door still beeps after it is closed.this condition does not exist when parked on a downhill, in which the front of the van is lower than the back of the van.consumer is aware there is a recall notice 01v067000 relating to this condition.vehicle has been serviced 3 times, but problem still exist.
Consumer letter regarding 2000 chevrolet venture door locks were changed with notice to consumer during oil change.
Dt: contact states the retractor on the passenger side automatic door will not allow the door close if there is something blocking the door from shutting.the design is suppose to allow the door to retract if there is something blocking the door from shutting.the consumers daughter hand was closed in the door and the door completely shut.the consumer hit the button to open the door, and it did open this way.the vehicle has not been to a service dealer.there was a recall on the door handle of this passenger side door.the consumer does not have the recall number or campaign id number.
Manual sliding door fell off van when rounding a corner at low speed.*la
Dt:chevrolet, venture 2000 mini van, the passenger side sliding door shuts even when children or anyone is in the way.people have been caught in the door because of this defect, and a child had to go to the emergency room after gettingfinger caught in the door.
Dt: contact stated afterrecall 04v597000 repairs on the power sliding door handle of the passenger door were done the lock on the door will not stay closed.the sliding door on the inside was roughed up from the repair work. The repair work on the recall was done on the 7-18-05.dealer said that the lock on the door had nothing to do with the recall.
Passenger side power assist sliding door fell off of the rear sliding roller guide after it froze half open/shut.the door has been making funny sounds when opening and closing for about two weeks.the door has also been opening back up when it tries to close.the outer sliding track has bent somehow?i am guessing it is part of the noise the door has been making.after disassembly of the door and the interior compartment, it was determined to be the actuator cables making most of the noise.the plastic liner on the cables had been stripped off and the cables had been balled up and they are starting to frey.i have rebent the track to accept the sliding rollers and i have removed the cables from the door to allow the door to open and close manually.
The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet venture.the contact received recall letter # 04v597000 (latches/locks/linkages: doors:latch).the recall repair was performed on july 12, 2005.the contact stated that on may 15, 2007, the side door failed again.when the contact would close the side door, it would re-open.this failure occurred on several occasions before it would close.once it closed, the dome light would remain illuminated and the door open indicator constantly chimed.when using the door unlock button, the lock actuator would constantly click until the door was fully open.the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer on june 1, 2007 for repair where it currently remains.the current and failure mileages were 95,368.the consumer stated the power sliding door makes a loud clicking noise, which souds like the actuator trying to lock and unlock.updated 07/19/07.
Tailgate either failed to latch or opened - no audible alarm was sounded - subsequent tests showed an audible alarm on the two front doors and the right slider door but no audible alarm on either the left slider door or on the tailgate creating a potential deadly situation.
2000 chevrolet venture minivan, front wiper motor does not return wipers to normal parked position, they remain vertical on windshield when shut off. Obstructs and distracts view, more prone to freeze up during winter months. Have seen numerous ventures on the road with identical condition.
The converter plugs malfunctioned, which caused the vehicle totravel 10 to 15 mph.
We purchased the vehicle used in july 2003.a month later, the low coolant light came on for the extent of a 40 mile trip, but has not appeared since.i took it to the dealer and they told me it was a intake manifold gasket, and the repairs would be $750.the van had only 42000 miles!i refused to pay for any repairs.upon further investigation, i found out that chevrolet is well aware of this defect, and that many many other drivers have had the same experience with this engine.i am even more upset that the dealership (ed schmidt chevrolet maumee, ohio) is part of the consipracy.we were told by the salesman and the dealership this was a good vehicle, and would be very reliable.my husband is in georgia for specialized training for 6 months. We purchased the van upon the recommendation of the dealership so that i would have reliable transportation while my husband is out of state.that has not happened.
Coolant light on no heat. Transmission would jerk from 20 klms too 60 klms
When on an incline the transmission fails to hold the car when the brake is released, causing the van to roll backwards.this happens on slight inclines. The dealer claims this is normal, but with the 15 other automatic cars i have owned, this has never been the case.this occurs when the car is warm and does not happen when the car is cold.the rolling occurs in drive or reverse on even the slightest incline.chevrolet has not responded to my inquires regarding this issue.i am concerned that the rolling will cause an accident.
Transmission failed:- the engagement of automatic transmission was sluggish, and would slip at low speeds (especially after being in park for more than a couple of hrs).- transmission made a whining noise day prior to failure- the transmission would not engage when the lever was operated (failed transmission)- towed to dealership- contacted gm customer service- was told by dealership that the transmission needs to be rebuilt- the transmission was rebuilt- a week after the transmission was rebuilt, the engagement was sluggish again- took it back to dealership- problem has since been fixed.
Whenever vehicle is on an incline/slope, it will roll backwards continuously. If vehicle is shifted into reverse, while on a slope or incline, would go forward first and then reverse. Have taken to dealership, and informed by mechanic it was characteristic of vehicle.
Transmission failed prematurely on the vehicle.*la
The van will suddenly roll backwards while in gear when stopped on anincline- even a slight incline. Recently, this almost caused me to have an accident as my van almost rolled into the car behind me.this problem has occured many times, but it does not ocur every time i am stopped on a hill (incline). When it occurs, the van rolls back very fast, not gradually.i took it to the dealer today (11/2/00) and he said that this was normal.he aslo said that he has had several people come in and complain about the same problem.i believe it is a design defect.(no other car that i have owned with an automatic transmissionhas done this.)it is definitely a safety defect.
Automatic transmission won't go into 2nd or 3rd gears. Windshield wipers won't go back into park.gas tank stop registering and cross bars on window motor were broken.
Transmission experienced some slipping and showed an 1811 code on the computer.required transmission to be rebuilt at a cost of $2100 at 63000 miles.fourth gear was stripped.
I was in a turn lane when my transmission failed with no warning. I had to call the police to move my car out of traffic and have my car towed to the dealership. I trulyfeel that this is a major safety concern.i just had the 30,000 mile maintenace work done on it 5 months ago.the dealership said that there was no way to detect this failure from happening.it just " happened". That is just unacceptable for me.i drive my children everywhere in that car and this could have easily been a fatality. I have no assurance that this will not happen to the new transmission that i had to buy. I have owned a variety of cars and i have never had any kind of transmission problem with any of them.our previous car was a 94 chevy van and we had no problems with it, just your normal wear and tear.i know that i did not cause my transmission to fail. I have done everything that a car owner should do to maintain propermaintenace of this car and still this kind of failure happened. I strongly feel that there must be some kind of mechanical failure within the transmission system itself for this to happen.i would like answers to why this happened.hopefullythis issue can be resolved before a fatality does occur.thank you.
Transmission on 2000 chevy venture van needed replacement. The van is not even 5 years old and is under 60, 000 miles. We also had to have cracked gaskets repaired about 6 months ago. I have heard of a number of people having difficulties with their similar vehicals.
My 2000 chevrolet venture van, warner brother's edition, had the transmission fail at 47,567 miles.i did not have an extended warranty purchased at the time i bought the van.i had noticed when i first acquired the van, that when i put the van in drive from reverse, the transmission slipped noticebly.also, from a stop the traction device signal would come on periodically and the transmission slipped as i accelorated.i took the van to the dealer, which they found the fluid was burnt and the bands or torque converter was ready to explode/come off.i had the van serviced every 3,000 miles and had done everything according to the service manual.nothing was said about burnt fluid. The cost fo replacement was $2710.00 plus tax.i was not a happy camper but needed a vehicle for transportation.the $33,000.00 + vehicle was only a little more than 2 years old and the transmission from the factory (oem) was warranteed for....36k mi.the new transmission was warranteed for....50k mi.!why was this, i asked?apparently, gm is in the process of upgrading their warranties for powertrain and body parts.unfortunetly, i was left out of the loop.after much discussion with both the service manager and sales rep., they were able to have gm pay half the cost of $1260.00. Notice the plunge in cost after gm got invovled with the payment?!?the dealer was able to get me a loaner car for only "1 day", as they took "6 days" to get the parts and have the van repaired! after returning the van with the new and improved transmission, the technician advised me to keep a close look at the coolant level, as there was a leak coming from the intake manifold area.what next right?no more gm vehicles for me!the technician gave no explanation for the transmission failure.to make matters worse i found out that in forums on the internet, that there are many other vans with similar and the same problems that i have/had! beware america beware!!!!
Consumerheard a knocking noise. Took vehicle to the dealership, and they replaced transmission. Next day, vehicle would stay on as running.dealerstated thatfuel pump failed.then, consumer discovered that there was sand inside of vehicle.
Vehicle was bucking as it was trying to accelerate up to 30-35 mph, vehicle was going up to 5-10mph when engine check light came on, steering wheel and brakes locked up, loosing total power, consumer started vehicle up 1/2 hour later and let it run, within 1 miinute, vehiclestalled again, the problem could not be duplicated, and daignostic test did not show a cause.the dealer replaced the pcm/vcm.
Traction control system locked in gear and would not shift. Dealer inspected vehicle, and replacedtraction control cluster, and then it locked up again.dealer has inspected and repairedvehicle, andproblem still exists. Dealer will inspectbrake solenoid sensor.
My car was in park, not running, keys in the ignition.5yr old son was in vehicle, trying to turn radio oncar shifted out of park with out the brake fully depressed.owners manual states to shift out of park brake must be fully depressed.son was in between front bucket seats, unable to reach brake when left arm hit shift bar into neutral. Thanks.
Key was put into ignition by a child, andchild was able to putvehicle into reverse without having to press onbrakes, causing vehicle to roll back, and almost hit another child. Contacted dealer, anddealer was not willing to do anything.
Vehicle jumped out of park into nuetral while ignition was off,and rolled backards down a hill 150 feet. Vehicle has been at gmc dealer for a month, and problem still has not been resolved.please provide any further information.
Our new chevrolet venture is less that a year old. There can be no good reason for the rear axle to fail. The dealership is refusing warranty repair, saying that i hit something to cause the damage to the rear undercarriage of vehicle. Tow truck company is responsible, i witnessed the damage by them, and they refuse responsibility. Dealer refuses to fix car under warranty. Insurance co refusing to call it a claim since incident was not caused due to driver error or hitting anything. I need problem to be investigated, otherwise i do not want the unsafe car back.
Transmission fluid leaked all over the engine, causing the vehicle to be inoperable, the dealer replaced transmission.
Transmission fluid leaked all over the engine, causing the vehicle to be inoperable, the dealer replaced transmission.
I've had my seat belt for 2nd row seats fixed several times.the seat belts become lock and wrapped around the seat.the dealer has had to physically remove the seat to get the seat belt to retract.i currently cannot use the seat belt until i get it back into the dealer.

Shoulder harness clips springs open, does not stay fastened. Dealer ordered new seats witch had the same problem. These clips need to be replaced and there needs to be a total recall on this item for chevy ventures before someone dies. I run a state licensed daycare in which i need to transport my children. The drivers side seat control panel of our 2000 chevy venture continues to break. We have replaced and attempted to fix it four times. The problem is the panel is mounted against the bottom of the seat cushion and when someone sits in the seat it presses down on the panel and breaks the screw tabs. The panel needs to be mounted lower or have some sort of spacer to lower the panel to keep the seat cushion from pushing against it.
Driver's seatback collapsed backwards when vehicle was rearended.the driver side seat broke during accident in which the driver was injured and the vehicle was totaled.

1) screeching from rear of vehicle which gets progressively worse with time.2) vehicle was serviced prior to failure.3) problem caused by leaking break fluid damaging drums and pads.this has occurred three times at irregular intervals (at least 5,000 to 10,000 between occurrences).
Chevy 2000 venture minivan:grinding braking system almost from day one.the brakes have been making noise almost from the day we brought the van.we have taken it in everytime the brakes make noise and the dealer has cleaned or replaced something everytime.however the griding noise comes back.the front roters and pads were replaced21,000 miles.the back brakes have been cleaned time and time again. The brake shoes had to be replaced because the calipers failed and had to be replaced.there seems to be an on going brake issue here with the chevy venture mini van.
Had problems with rear brakes when vehicle was first purchased.they were noisy and clunky, dealer found them to be 'normal' but dirty and cleaned them.when front brakes were replaced at ~15,000 miles (very early wear out and noisy) rear brakes were checked again and found to be excessively dirty/greasy-they were cleaned again.at ~ 35,000 miles the parking brake would sometimes seem to stick on.rear brakes became less effective at ~46,000 miles, found that both rear wheel cylinders were leaking onto brake shoes.both wheel cylinders were replaced.
The consumer stated the brake rotors were wearing out, and when the brakes were applied, the vehicle experienced heavy vibration and extended stopping distance.dealer notified.the rear wheel brake cylinder was defective.the front brakes only stopped, which resulted in dangerous conditions on ice, snow, and premature wear of the front brake pads.the dealer said this was common and the rear adjust didn't wear. *scc

2000 chevrolet venture.faulty spot weld in the unibody near the right front corner of the driver seat mount stamping.this has cause approx. A 4 inch tear in the floor pan running from the mount toward the console.there is also a tear spidering on the left side of the same bracket around a weld that is now about the size of a half dollar.the vehicle was never in an accident that i am aware of and i have owned it since 2002.my concern is that if you do not remove the carpet you would not see it.if the vehicle were to be rear-ended the seat bracket may tear the floor more and cause the driver seat to pin the rear seat passengers.i have digital photos of the tears available as well.the failure will require welding of the tear on the floor pan as a minimum.

The chevrolet venture passenger power sliding door has a gap at the base large enough to trap a child. The door does not stop while reversing and the result of this can be seen at http://www.thecarplace.com/venture.htm please, please go see this video -- third on the page. I test vehicles and have no further interest in this one. But this is a safety problem that warrants some action. I look forward to testing other power sliding doors on minivans.

Recall 01v26400 repairs onpower sliding passenger door was done in june 2001. On 13 oct, 2001 child was in path of door and door closed on child. Door would not automatically open as it should. Child was bruised, no other injuries.taken vehicle twice to dealer for this problem since recall, could not find cause.
My 5-year-old daughter was opening the driver-side sliding door (not-automatic), when it slid out of the track (the one in the rear panel, not the bottom), sheared off the roller-bearing (?) part that is supposed to be in the track, and the rear part of the door dropped to the ground, nearly landing on her.this is a small (37lb) child - and it is unbelievable that she could have caused this occurrence.we haven't yet repaired the part, and the door doesn't close correctly at all.we are going to be doing the repair within the next week, but this seems like it should be a recall-worthy event.

The driver's side manual sliding door completely fell off my chevy venture. The dealer repaired the car, but i was charged $509 for " consequential damage not covered by my warranty." there wouldn't have been any damage if the door hadn't fallen off!! chevy customer service told me that it is not their responsibility and they are not willing to help me. I went as far as i could with "customer service" (more than 6 calls) but i was told they are unwilling to help. I am shock by the lack of concern chevy showed my family. I believe it is their responsibility to fix the car... A door should never just fall off the vehicle. I have 3 young children, and feel lucky that no one was seriously hurt. *la

The passenger side power sliding door on my 2000 chevy venture does not close properly. This has been a problem since i bought the van new.i have taken it to chevy dealers on different occasions, but was told there was no problem.at one time last year, the door opened while driving down the road.my 4 year old daughter was in the seat by the door and thankfully did not fall out.we took it immediately to the dealer, but they again said nothing was wrong.the problem is not predictable, which makes it hard to show the dealer, but the door will make a groaning sound and the alarm will sound when it does.the rear part of the door appears to try to pull in too far, causing the sound.the door will then have to be opened and shut 3-4 times to get it to properly close.i stopped taking it to the dealer after the warranty expired because i didn't want to be charged to hear them say nothing is wrong.there is obviously a problem.i took it in for the recall, but they again said nothing was wrong.i have contacted chevrolet, but they will not do anything since it is out of warranty.the van has 48,000 miles and the door has been a problem since day one.maybe if enough people notify your organization, something will be done.thank you for your assistance with this matter.the incident date listed below is the approximate time i purchased the van, since this is an ongoing problem.

I was the only owner of a 2000 chevorlet venture until two months ago when the door (sliding) fell off for the fourth time.because gm refused to do anything about it beyond repair it for the fourt time for free, i traded in the vehicle.i was not at all amused that my daughter fell out the door and could have been seriously injured.thank god she wasn't.the van had been fixed three times previously from the door falling off.chevorlet could only verify one time that it was repaired because the dealers did not enter the repair into their computers.i had all my receipts saying what was done to the vehicle in hand written notices.however, chevorlet did not believe me and chose to ignor the problem.i am very sorry that someone else's child might get hurt because chevorlet ignored the problem.

My daughter noticed that she was not able to keep air in one mastercraft a/s iv tires. As we looked at the tire together she heard air escaping, and when we touched the area of the leak, the leak got louder. I took it to the local farm & fleet (where the tires were purchased & installed as i have been told they are good at keeping up with warranties) to have it checked out. I was told that it has "dry rot", and i would have to buy another brand as the mastercraft a/s iv have been "discontinued", and i have no other recourse. I asked if they or i could file a complaint with the manufacturer, and was told no as the tires have been discontinued and are no longer manufactured. Further, i was told that only 25% of the tread remains. The tires were purchased 9/08/08 & only have approximately, 20,806 miles on them, but the manufacturer rates them at 50,000 miles. The low miles makes sense as we rarely put on more than 7k miles on any of our vehicles. I am concerned that this may be a manufacturing defect in the material of the tire(s).

We were on the freeway driving at the speedlimit of 70mph my dad said, he heard a funny sound so he attempted to pull over off the freeway there was many cars and longhaul truck approaching when the car just like it dropped and pulled us over almost causing us to get into an accident my dad got us safely to the side of the road ,and my husband and my dad got out to find the tires outside side wall had completely come out from the tire, this was the second time that this has happened to these tires, the first tire that this happened to the inside wall of the tire came out .this happened within a month of eachother .i am afraid to drive my van on the freeway, i feel these tires are very unsafe, the last time it happened we almost had an accident ,the van could have easily flipped over and we could have been killed.the tire dealerships that seen the tires said they had never seen anything like itbefore, the tires just came apart , the whole sides are just like someone ripped them right out. This should not happen to new tires, something is very wrong, when two tires do the same exact thing within a month of eachother, i think this says the tires are defective and unsafe. During normal driving conditions (no rain, snow, hazards) our right rear tire failed. The tread completely separated from the tire destroying the rim abs harness cable and other for a total of 2000.00 damage. No injuries. The tires have very little wear (9000 miles). I immediately replaced all the tires with another brand. The catastrophic failure of the tire concerns me and believe the tire to be faulty. A few months ago i began having trouble unlocking my rear passenger door. I was very upset because i was trying to getmy son out of the van and was unable to. I tried using the keyless entry, andthe lock button on the door and nothing worked. I did have the childproof lock turned on, so i couldnt even get the door open from the inside. After a long time of trying i did eventually get the door open. This happens about once a week, and i am scared that if i were ever to get in an accident i would be unable to get my children out. Iam going to take it where i purchased it and have it fixed, but i think there should be a recall on it just in case someone has the same thing happen to themat the wrong time.
Engine check light is on and has remained on for 2 weeks, indictating a defect. Dealerdid an oil chang,e but it did not correct problem. At this time dealer cannot determine the defect.
Starting at about 25-30,000 miles, i had to replace several stoplight bulbs (left side only) on my 2000 venture van.two or three seemed to go in a short amount of time, but the last one i put in lasted until recently - about 75,000 miles.overall, there have been about 6 bulbs replaced.a couple of times i looked and the filament was intact, but the base of the bulb seemed blackened so i replaced it anyway.in checking one day in may or june, i noticed that both the left and the right (which had never been touched) were out. The bulbs were still good, but the bases (receptacles) in both housings were melted so that i could not even get the right one back in. A mechanic friend (not chevrolet) said he had seen that happen a couple of times in ventures.my local dealer said it would cost $70+ to even look at it and that they weren't aware of any recall for this problem.i then called a gm complaint number my dealer gave me, explained the problem, and she called the dealer. The dealer then checked the lights without charge and told me that - yes indeed - the bases were burned just like i said but they could not tell me why! after examination of the situation: (1) yes...i do know how to plug in a new bulb (2) i used good quality replacements (3) the right one was factory-installed and had never been touched since i bought the vehicle new (4) there is no trace of water leakage in either light assembly (5) i'm a careful 60-year-old driver that doesn't ride or violently pump the brake pedal (no guarantees, though, in another 25 years!) (6) the bulbs were not burned out but the bulb holders (the base in the housing the bulb plugs into) themselves were toast (the left one we can wedge the bulb where it can work)(7) i've heard of a few instances where this has happened to venture vans(8) on a few occasions my wife and i have noticed other venture vans with a stoplight out.shouldn't there be a recall if this is more than just an isolated case?

The heater core burst at highway speeds with high pressure which could have scalded my son sitting on the passenger seat. Windshield wipers.2000 chevrolet venture van. The windshield wipers get caught together and break. This van uses the criss cross pattern and the drivers side wiper slips out of time and causes a collision between the wiper blades and causes the passenger side wiper to bend or break when the two wiper blades meet. Removing the passenger side blade causes the drivers side blade to operate in a changing pattern, moving from as little as 5" to moving beyond the drivers side windshield edge where is gets bound up on the door. We have had the van for about six months and have changed the wiper blades about 6 or 8 times. Finally just discovered that the problem is in the workings of the wiper motor arms that are not designed well and very cheap quality connections. They become loose and allow the blades to slip from the proper path and collide with each other. Very difficult to drive when you get caught in a rain storm at night with no wipers to speak off when you are in the middle of nowhere and have to be some where. *nlm
Windshield wipers when on high creats a violent shaking of the vehicle in an unsafemanner. Yh
Dt*: the contact stated the windshield wipers were stuck while in the upwards position.the windshield wiper motor was changed but it did not fix the issue.the vehicle had not been to a service dealer.the contact expressed this was an electrical issue.
The windshield wipers recede down in an area under the hood, this design causes a problem when it snows because the area that the wipers go down in fills with snow and ice and causes the wipers not to be able to go down all the way, one of the vans wiper motors burned out.nlm
Intermittently windshield wipers become inoperable, obstructing the driver's view. Independent shop replaced the module at consumer's expense of $280.00. The dealership was notified.
2000 chevrolet venture minivan, front wiper motor does not return wipers to normal parked position, they remain vertical on windshield when shut off. Obstructs and distracts view, more prone to freeze up during winter months. Have seen numerous ventures on the road with identical condition.
While driving in inclement weather windshield wiperscame onand went off intermittently. Windshield wiper blades were stuck ontop of the windshield when turning off.dealer was notified of the problem.
Windshield wipers fail to lay down when turned off. Seems to be quite common according to various google searches as well as mechanics. I have not yet fixed as i feel this is a chevy problem. Cost is 180.00 estimate for a new actuator switch.
Bought 4 new goodyear viva 2 tires at walmart in approximately 2014 sometime. According to local tire shop they have 2014 date codes. Van started developing a low speed wobble when driving. Front l tire was low on pressure so took to a loca shop to have it checked thinking i just needed a patch. Wrong! the shop discovered a tread separation on the inside sidewall! luckily i was not driving on the highway. After coming here and reading all the other almost identical complaints to me it looks like there is a trend of bulging/poor ride quality/blowouts and tread separation from these walmart goodyears. Luckily i only made a 2 mile round trip from home to a friends and i was able to catch this before i had a blowout.
Consumer states grinding noise when brakes were applied, however noise started happening even when brakes were not applied, tire came completely off the rim, however tire was still attached to the wheel and was inflated, all the lug nuts had came off.
