At approx. 50,000 miles i had total transmission failure in my 2000 chevrolet trailblazer.this vehicle was used under normal conditions.the result was a replacement of the transmission (gm rebuild) installed at a dealer for cost of approx. $1800.00 which was unacceptable that i had to pay anything in my opinion, even though the vehicle was out of warranty.i have spoken with other owners who experienced the same issue.

Powertrain transmission - 50,000 miles and the transmission goes out.... Sunshell i believe is what they called it.highway miles only and serviced regularly.this should not happen!

I have researched this a lot and found the internet full of problems with blazers and the transmission going out / the dealership also told me this is a common thing for blazers (the trans going out) in west virginia i was told by a sales department that this is common for chevy blazers.gm told me and some other internet people that there is nothing that can be done.i think an investigation needs done /truck has always had a weird noisy that which we complained about and we were told until something happens there is nothing that can be done.i went to back out and the truck would not go into reverse.2.unable to drive truck due to not going into reverse.3. Called to schedule estimate.gm said they could offer a rebate customer appreciation but they are already advertising this option to anyone.

2000 chevy trailblazer had transmission failure with only 71,000 miles. Dealer claimed that it was a "natural thing" for these transmissions to fail. Gm customer service refused to assist even though hundreds of these type complaints have been filed. An immediate recall should be imposed on chevrolet for distributing faulty transmissions that fail even before maintenance is due. I would not be surprised to see a class action lawsuit over this due to the high number of transmission failures. Someone will eventually get severely hurt or even killed because there is no warning before the transmission breaks.

When drivingat any speed 4-wheel drive changed from auto 4wd to high 4wd, then tried shifting into low 4wd without warning.the switch was set to auto, therefore, the problem shouldn't have occurred. *sc

While driving at a moderate speed (~40 mph) the front end of the vehicle began to shake.i slowed down, and turned on to a side road.as i came to a stop the front, driver's side wheel collapsed inward.fortunately, there were no injuries or further damage to the vehicle. There was no previous hint of a problem.per the garage mechanic, the upper ball joint on the driver's side had "separated", causing the wheel to collapse.the part was replaced, and the damaged part (which i viewed) was thrown away.the vehicle rides fine now, but i worry about the other ball joints.

We were driving on the highway and the speedometer jumped up to 120+ mph. I was going 70mph. This has happened a few times. Its very annoying and dangerous not knowing how fast you are going. Please get a recall out on this problem. I have read quite afew stories about this happening and gm not doing anything.
