On august 18, 2017, i leased-to-own a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer from action auto of tupelo, ms. Around the first week of october of 2018, i had lend said vehicle to my sister. She contacted me saying that the engine was making a knocking noise, and brought the vehicle back to me, where i inspected it while it was stationary. To rule out everything else before i acknowledged the sound of the knock being a severe mechanical failure of the engine, i connected a diagnostic scanner to the can data connector on the 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. In seconds the screen on the scanner was flooded with faults, but then the scanner started beeping, saying that the srs (supplemental restraint system) had been activated. Looking around the vehicle i didn't see any sign of any airbag being deployed, or any seatbelt missing. It wasn't until i checked the connectors coming out of the airbag module that i saw for the first time that the airbags were missing. I informed my insurance provider regarding the issue, which they assumed that the vehicle was in a current accident. In which it was not. After further explanation, they cancelled the insurance as airbag deployment are one of the critical key factors that insurance providers use to determine whether a vechicle is totaled or not. I contacted action auto of oxford, ms, their main branch i presume, and informed them of the problem and to come and retrieve the vehicle as driving it without insurance is a violation of mississippi's state's law, and the engine had experienced severe mechanical failure which made it unsafe to drive. Action auto retrieved the vehicle, but stated that i had broke promises in our agreement, and that the vehicle would be auctioned off this year, in which they did. Federal law requires all vehicles made after 1997 are equipped with airbags and title 49 30112 forbids the sell of a non-conforming vehicle.
While approaching intersection a vehicle traveling perpendicular to us failed to stop at stop sign. This vehicle entered the intersection and we "t-boned" the vehicle. Our vehicle sustained a direct hit on the front of the vehicle and the air bags never deployed. After the initial collision our vehicle remained in contact with the vehicle that failed to stop and both of our vehicles were driven directly into a tree, thus incurring another significant impact ( more significant than the initial collision w/ the other car ) and the air bags still did not deploy. There were 2 people in the front seats and 2 people in rear seats. All sustained injuries and needed or still require medical attention. The two passengers on the other vehicle were fatally injured. There had never been any indication of air bag failure and never any warning "idiot" lights on the dashboard ever at any time indication any issues w/ air bag functionality. With recent events showing failure of gm air bags, i believe this is another indication of this failure which needs to be investigated. Safety features are sometimes taken for granted in vehicles, but when needed to perform, they are expected to perform as engineered. These safety features are factored into the decision making of vehicle purchases and are expected to perform.
As soon as you start vehicle....dash shows that the air bags needs to be services and it stays on the whole time of your journey..when i lift my seat to get correct positioning to drive it starts to have the bell sensor ring, like when you don't your seat belt on....but i have my seat belt on/fastened,,took to mtn view chevrolet/chattanooga, tn...they could not find a reason why and told me no recall on this vin model..so i have decided to issue a complaint before something happens and the air bags do not deploy.. Thank you..
After our battery manifested a dead cell for the second time in 3 years i decided to do online research to see if any other 2006 trailblazer owners had similar issues. I found a recall nhtsa campaign number 06v417000 concerning passenger side airbag sensor and aftermarket leather upgrade i contacted gm only to be told our vin was not part of the recall. I proceeded to ask how a vin could tell if we had aftermarket leather added by the dealer they said our vin was not part of the recall nothing more. After calling another dealer i learned the 794 suv's had the leather upgrades done by gm, not the dealers who sent them out to get leather installed. The remedy for the vehicles gm upgraded was gm purchased them back as no aftermarket leather was or is available that is compatible with the sensor in the passenger seat for the airbag. If this is such a safety concern why weren't the other trailblazer owners who got aftermarket leather from the dealer notified of this are they liable shouldn't we get a notice of the safety concerns as well? still looking for answers and a resolution what can i do to make my vehicle safe for the front passenger??
Gas gauge became very erratic. Finally didn't register at all. Check engine light came on while out of town. Took the car to a merlin automotive for repair. Spent hundreds of dollars and the light would not go off. Mass air flow meter, plugs, fuel rail, throttle position sensor, fuel injectors. They even called in a chevy technician who could not figure it out. When i returned home i took it to my local repair shop where they dropped the tank and replaced the sending unit. Hundreds of dollars in expenses.then the heating fan switchstarted smoking and had to be replaced as it had melted and nothing worked . Also, every door rusted through at the bottom including the rear hatch. Dealers' response:welcome to wisconsin. I spent $700 to have the rust cleaned up.
Headlights turn off while driving.happens with regularity.headlight relay defective.no replacement part available.gm denies that a recall exists.
Car shuts down with no power while driving down the road.then there is a two minute delay before you can crank it over and start it again.then it may shut down again another half mile up the road... And the process repeats.this is after numerous other problems:such as failed gas gauge, water pump, wiper malfunctions, lock and window problems..ect.anything electrical is being affected by this problem but the shutting off while driving is very unsafe due to the potential for rear end accident.
Both rear parking tail lights does not turn on, while both front parking lights are operational. Brake lights, rear turn signals, reverse lights, doors unlock light are all operational.
Dear sirs or madam, i am writing to you regarding the recall that was issued for the door switch on above named vehicle. The switch on my vehicle malfunctioned in 2011, before the recall was issued. Later, upon taking the vehicle to wailer chevy in keene, nh, i was informed that there was a recall and i am eligible for a reimbursement of the out of pocket expense of replacing the part. In short, gm initially denied me the reimbursement for superficial reasons. Later after i contacted and filed complaints with the agencies listed below, gm offered and sent a check that covers only the price we paid for the part, but not the labor it took to install it. I have not yet cashed that check, as there is language on it that indicates the issue would be resolved upon cashing. It is not resolved. The balance still owed is $272.18. I was told by some of the agencies listed below that nhtsa was the federal entity responsible for insuring manufacturer compliance with recalls. I'm filing this complaint with nhtsa so that the recall be honored in this case and the balance of the out of pocket expense paid to repair the defect, be reimbursed to me. Gm file number: [xxx]eastern michigan bbb complaint number: 10058153michigan department of state file number:[xxx]ny attorney general file number:[xxx]i also have the supporting documentation (ie. Receipts), that can be forwarded to your office if/when needed. Please feel free to contact me regarding this issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
For the past few months, while operating the vehicle, the lights on the driver side door for power features would flicker on and then off causing heated seats to not work, windows could not go up or down, inability to power lock or unlock.numerous times the drive has had to cross the center console to enter or exit the vehicle when the drive door would not unlock.today on 6/1/12, the panel was not lite up and would not allow windows to operate, unlock or lock or heat for seats.after trying a few more times, there was a smell of fire and smoke.(yellowish).thankfully the car was in the parked position and we were able to get out, open the door by manually pushing the lock button to open.we quickly removed the power main door switch from the door hand rest where it was apparent by smell and touch of the burning of the equipment.
All controls on drivers side door quit working. I got online & found a recall on this for my vehicle. I called the phone number for the recall & they informed me that my car was'nt covered because of the vin #. They told me if i went to a dealer & paid for a diagnostic test they may offer some assistance to have it fixed. They know it is a defect but are trying to get out of fixing mine because of a vin #. I can't afford to pay for the diagnostic test & then have them tell me i owe more because i have a vin# they don't want to fix.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext. The contact stated that the windows and doors failed to respond when engaged using the door module. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic or the dealer for repairs or inspection. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 76,800.
2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext gas tank does not read after filling up.a full tank reads empty.the fuel tank low fuel light comes on making it unusable.
As i was driving on the highway, my doors unlocked and locked several times over a period of 30 minutes. I then heard loud chirps from stereo speakers and then the smell of burning plastic. At this point i lost all window controls and audio(door chimes, radio and onstar). To this date i have not been able to use radio or driver side window controls but still notice a smell of melting rubber or plastic. I have two children with autism and i do not feel safe taking it on family outings.
I was driving down the road about 20 mph and the drivers windowwent down by itself and wouldn't go back up, sometimes when you try to start vehicle nothing happens andthen a few seconds later it starts on its own, when it rains all the speakers quit working except the front tweeter speakers, sometimes when i shut the drivers door kind of hardit wont start and u cant lock doors with keyless entry, fuel gauge quit working after i filled up with gas.
3 weeks ago, per the fuel guage had 1/4 tank, no 'low fuel' light indicator.however, my vehicle ran out of gas, leaving me to coast to the side of the road on a corner.i was stranded.i have not let the tank get that low since, out of fear the guage was not reading it properly.last night, i filled the vehicle.apporximately a mile from the gas station, my check engine light came on & the guage registered empty with the light indicator.during my 10 minute drive it continued to fluctuate between empty & full.i am affraid of the vehicle cutting out again while driving in traffic or manuevering through corners.this is very dangerous.
Fuel gauge has failed.at any given time, i am uncertain of the amount of fuel in my gas tank.i have contacted the dealer, they said they would diagnose the problem for $99, and the repair could cost $600 - $800.this is an obvious defect and should be replaced by gm as part of a recall.since i could run out of gas at any time, it is obviously a safety issue.
The driver's door window and door lock has been working intermittently over the last 1 1/2 yrs.this last march, the window stopped working .then the door lock followed and then the entire door.i have no control over any aspect of the car with that door.i makes a buzz-zapping sound.i cannot lock the windows at all in the back, so now my young children play with the windows and hang out them.the doors are supposed to lock when the truck is put into gear, but that does not always happen.sometimes it will happen 10 minutes into a trip , sometimes not at all.in the last month the front passenger side window stopped working also.my sons are now complaining of hearing a buzz, click, click, click, sound coming from the back doors.i assume it is the vehicle attempting to lock the doors since we are driving but it is unable to.the driver side mirror also has a mind of its own due to the malfunction of the electrical or the door.it will change its positioning all by itself .i always have to readjust it manually just to find it pointing at the ground later on.i took it to my chevrolet dealer and was told my vehicle is not included in the recall because of where i purchased it and where i limy live.this is a safety issue apart from the obvious electrical zapping that can be heard, but it is also for children when the vehicle is in motion.i am unemployed and it is going to cost over $150 for them to look at it, and he said there is no recall so to fix it, i will have to pay.there is constant exposure to salt air here in florida.my kids lives are at stake.i do not care where i live, this is there safety.what if they open the windowand get hurt because i cannot lock the window because of problems with my car door.the recall needs to be nation wide and it needs to resolved before someone get hurts.
My driver side seat heated seat short circuited and looks like it caught on fire briefly.my head lamp module went bad and is recalled but no remedy has been solved, dealership replaced at my expense but i cannot get reimbursement for repair due to remedy not yet available. Recall date was nov 25th 2015 am i suppose to drive without lights for 13 months. Since i took it too an authorized dealer and they fixed it why cant i get my money?picture is from the internet but is actually the same as mine. I do have the defected seat element at my home.
Light keep going out while driving at night.
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext ls has a faulty the fuel gauge/fuel sending unit. At first it would show full when we filled up, but after driving for 5 minutes would go to empty. Now it never even registers the fuel level anymore, and the check engine light stays on all the time. I am afraid of stalling, especially since i have children with me. The dealership told me that they couldn't fix it because no recall had been issued. This problem started at around 38,000 miles. [xxx]
Driver's door electric window/mirror/lock controls began to work intermittently, crackling noise from driver's door. Driver side rear view mirror turned downward making it useless. Driver's door window began.raising and lowering by itself.
Well probably about six to eight months ago my speakers and ac/heater started going out, working sometimes and not others. Eventually the ac/heater stopped working all together, and as for the speakers they were doing the same working sometimes or only one side working or just the front speakers working. Well now it only works when its hot and when its cold only the tweekers work. From the blogs i have read this is a big issue with these gm vehicles and something needs to be done. A recall or something.
There were no events that led to the part failure.i own a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext and have had multiple problems with the vehicle the most recent being, having to replace the alternator and battery due to a bad/faulty diode in the alternator.
As of today, my reduced engine power light came on and there appears to be an issue with the electronic throttle control system. When i turned the car off, and then restarted it, the problem went away, but then a few minutes later, came on again, and the car would not accelerate. This is a major safety concern as the problem occurred crossing an intersection. Luckily there was no oncoming traffic, or it could have been very serious.
My lights dim and flicker along with the dash board instrumentation and the volt meter dips down to around 12. This problem initially occurred about a year ago. It seems to have some sort of short. I called my local auto shop who said he would take a look but doubted he would find the problem since he couldn't with the last one he looked at!! i really enjoy this vehicle and i'm hoping that someone stumbles across the real issue and is able to help me to fix my trailblazer.
I have bought 2 new batteries with in a month of each other due to my battery being dead over and over again. I was told my alternator was fine only that something keeps draining the life out of my battery.this has been going on for months. If i let the trailblazer sit for 1 to 2 days the battery is dead again.i also noticed that the face of my radio has started to get hot. When we first had auto zone change the battery we noticed that it caused our air vents to stop working. I looked this up on line and it looks like i'm not the only one who has this problem. I see it's a big problem.i don't know if there is a recall , but i'm scared it is a electrical problem that could hurt me and my 4 kids if it happens while driving. Can you please help me with this.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext. The contact stated that the driver's side door module exhibited a shortage and a dysfunctional circuit board, causing the door panel switch and windows to become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised the contact that the module circuit board needed to be replaced. There were no recalls for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 118,000.
Lights on the dash not working, and also the hot /cold lights on the heater console in the front just quit working, and only 43,000 miles it makes it complicated at night to see how much gas you have or how fast your going.also the air/heat unit on the console for the back seat just quit working, so if i have passengers in the car with me, then they just freeze to death in the back seats, because there is no heat.
My fuel gauge on my 2006 chevy trailblazer slowly stopped to where it is no longer working at all. Also, suddenly today, both of my dim (low beam) head lights stopped working after having the battery replaced. Have checked fuses and they are ok. I have seen many complaints for both of these issues.
Auto would start but turn off right away. I was told that the computer module was shorting out and the auto would start on it's own.
Vehicle was on and being driven on the highway/freeway when it shut off and lost power. Vehicle camea stop and restarted vehicle and it did not start immediately after a few attempts it started as if nothing happened and i drove it home. Luckily i arrived home and entered my driveway and it shut off again and has not been able to be restarted since. I have not gotten any resolution or help from a chevrolet company and they can not say what it possibly could be. There are trailblazer forums online that state the same by other owner who are experiencing the same. Please help as i and my kids could have been hurt or killed.
I am having this issue, for a few weeks now, the key gets locked in the ignition switch, will not turn off, itdrainthe battery the first day, now i have to disconnectbattery, then when it finally locked it did not want to start, i could not start the vehicle for almost two days, and i cannot affordto take it to a mechanic right now.
I've had my trailblazer for two years now about 4/2010 the windows would go up and down on their own and the power lock stopped working so chevy replaced the main control switch then about 6/2011 i had to replace the wheel bearings and the sensor twice and about 01/2012 the wipers and washer fluid wouldn't shut off got a new wiper motor put in and now the truck has been sitting since 4/2012 had to have it towed from albany because the truck just all of a sudden slowed down even with my foot on the gas pedal and now i have ten different codes that came up two for the camshaft sensor and solenoid the knock sensor the crankshaft sensor and a few other ones... We called chevrolet and they have no clue what is going on nor what is wrong with it.
I own a 2006 chevy trailblazer ext.on april 17th 2011 i was driving on highway 1-96 in michigan with my 2 young kids.gas gague read 48 miles till empty when the vehicle suddenly stalled,it was out of gas.my kids and i had to walk along a major highway to nearest gas station to get gas.the truck ran fine before stalling out at 70 mph. I am thankful there were no cars close behind me when the vehicle suddenly stalled.
Went to get in my trailblazer and the window switch panel would not work at all!! took it in and here to find out the panel was smoking and smelled burned!!
On sept. 12th, the battery on my 2006 trailblazer died. While trying to jump the battery, sparks flew and the charge was unsuccessful. The battery was replaced that day with a new one.on sept. 16th, the door control module on the driver's side stopped working and the fuel gauge was erratic.on sept. 22nd, the entire control instrument panel stopped working. None of the gauges or displays work.on sept. 24th, replaced the door control module with a used part to save money.the instrument panel still does not work, and from what i understand, both issues (door control module and instrument panel) are common problems with trailblazers. Chevrolet has not put either of these on the recall list.the instrument panel is not exactly a wear and tear item, and i have never had this part go out on any other car i've driven. The fix is $400-600 and the diagnostic test alone is $100. I cannot afford to get this fixed, and not having a speedometer, temperature or fuel gauge is a huge safety issue for a single mom and 2 young kids!
Most recent is a driver's side door/window controls that have completely stopped working.controls have been sporadic for over a month and have now, and it stopped completely with the window in the down position.i have been lucky not to experience the burning/melting issue others have before it stopped working all together - but my window is now in the down position and cannot be closed. In addition to the door/window controls, the rear window wiper stopped working about a year ago, the fuel sensor went out over a yearand a half ago so tank always registers empty and check engine light is always on.(i have received the offer from chevy to have the fuel sensor repaired, but because i will be responsible for half of the repair costs, i have yet to have it done -- chevy should pay 100%, not 50%).i've already replaced the tie rods about a year ago, but was just told that they need to be replaced again.i've had issues with the car violently shaking @ 60 mph shortly after i bought it (used) from a dealer.after quite the run around and four extended stays at the dealers repair shop it was magically taken care of after i threatened to file "lemon law" paperwork.i'm just done.the consumer stated shortly after, the windows controls for the other three windows began to work again sporadically, except for the driver's window which was propped closed. On occasion, when the driver's side widow button was touched my mistake, the window would moveslightly until being stopped by the 2x4. The consumer finally had the recall repairs done, after waiting on the parts. The dealer removed the 2x4 from the driver's side and the consumer was charged $105.55 to get the window operational again. Updated 05/23/13
Both rear brake lights failed simultaneously, even after fuses were checked both under the hood and behind the drivers side fuse box (fuse #12 & fuse #34). This is a road hazard and faulty wiring should be covered. Front left headlight was found to have switch with melted wiring as well, changes by mechanic and i was informed it could have caused a fire. This vehicle has 3 recalls thus far that are extremely dangerous if such faults can cause a fire within the electrical wirings. I would like to get compensated for the work done, the brake lights faulty wiring should be covered under the recall as the local chevy dealer refuses to fix it.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext. While driving various speeds, the vehicle would stall and shut off without warning. The vehicle would have to be jumpstarted in order to restart. The failure recurred, but the vehicle would not restart. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The mechanic replaced the vehicle's battery, auxiliary water pump, starter, and alternator; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.
I seem to be having the same issues as others. My drivers side door electrical does not work at all. No windows, mirrors, heated seats. The light will not come on when the door is opened, the radio and lights will no longer stay on when the key is shut off. Does anyone know what causes this and how much it cost to fix it?if this is a known issue why has there not been a recall?
Filled up the tank and when i went to leave the fuel gauge did not work. The gauge would go to e when i turned on the engine but would not go any higher. Then after driving it would slowly go back up and drift down towards e again. It acts like the fuel float is saturated. As the fuel level would get low. The gauge would start to work normal. Once i would get gas the next time it would start to do the same thing again.
Stopped at a local exxon station to fill up with gas at 1/4 tank level. I filled the tank to full a now $90.00 expense. When i got back in and started my 2006 chevy trailblazer ext, the gas gauge indicated an empty tank and the yellow warning light stayed on. I drove for a few miles, stopped turned the vehicle off and restarted the vehicle with no indicated change to the fuel level. I checked to make sure that the gas cap made a good seal. Nothing seems to make a difference. Now the gauge jumps from full to empty and all levels in between with no rhyme or reason. After seeing how many people at http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/chevrolet-trailblazer/th8ji6tepo3vrji3dare having the same problem; i believe that this should be a mandated recall for gm.this has all happened within 1000 miles of my manufacturer's warranty expiration.
Gas gauge is no longer working and gas light stays on no matter what the fuel level is.
Steering wheel shakes violently, it has been in dealer for over 30 days.have tried many things to repair, nothing has worked.it only does it some of the time so it is hard to diagnose... I do not want a car that is not safe for me and my kids!! please help us! manufacturer does not seem to care!date feb 11, 2006 was first date in to dealer for repair.... Has been in 3 times! to date they have fixedor repaired the: tires, rotors, calipers, master cylinder, brake booster, (and i am sure some others that i can't think of right now)thank you for your time! the kuhr family.
The fuel level sensor went out and said there was no gas in the car when there was when it was still pretty new.sometime during the trip, it would say it was full when previously it said it was near empty.unfortunately for me i was traveling on the interstate and i had no idea how much gas i had or how much to put in the car.i could have easily been stranded alone on the interstate and put in a very dangerous situation.i also could not renew my license tag without getting it repaired in the state of ga.i thought the $400 expense after having a new car for less than 2 years for an electrical issue was ridiculously unreliable quality.

The air conditioning on my 2006 chevy trailblazer ext stopped working. The problem was the blower motor resistor module and resistor module connector. The parts had melted together, causing the wires to become loose at the connection. Apparently this is a common problem with my chevy model. There are many online postings indicating that the problem could cause a fire. Chevrolet company refused to even look at my vehicle until i paid a $110.00 diagnostic fee. The service technician immediately knew what the problem was and explained that it was a common problem with my model and the tahoe. The gas gauge also stopped working recently which i was told by the technician that it too was a common problem. There are numerous complaints on these parts as well as the brake light circuit boards, which also went out on my vehicle. The technician once again said that it was a common problem. These parts seem to be failing shortly after the warranty expires. There are many issues with the electrical system in this vehicle. The problems are hazardous safety issues and are known to the chevrolet corporation. I was able to find the parts at nearly 80% cheaper than what the dealer wanted to charge me, not including the labor and diagnostic fee. Safety recalls on these parts should be issued.
2006 trailblazer ext, 12/08 exiting freeway onto 50 mph roadway and accelerating from stop sign at top of ramp, when engine lost power and slowed to a stop, with engine running and check engine light on, all at once.almost broadsidedon drivers door by approaching traffic.. Onstar said in was a throttle valve body issue and had it towed to dealer for night drop off.next morning no code found, but they cleaned the throttle body valve assembly and linkage. No charge for diagnostics or cleaning! 4/21/09, 3000 miles later, the check engine light comes on with vehicle operating normally.onstar says get it to a dealer in one day, its the throttle valve body and linkage.$100 for diagnosis already sent to dealer by onstar.dealer says the electronic radiator fan clutch is not engaging and engine runs cold, technician said no, it runs hot, neither of which was occurring.dealer says they have a history code for throttle valve and linkage, so its obviously carboned up and though its not listed anywhere in owners manual for such service, they say its a maintaining issue, don't void your warranty.if you don't let us do it for $149, it's $52 for reading the history code.they remove the air cleaner duct and they try to sell me a bill of goods, i.e. Look at the carbon build up, which is nothing more than a very thin, thin coating of darkened oil vapor residue which is pulled in from the crank case vent hose attached below the intake horn, after he air filter and sensor.rip off!the vehicle ran perfect but for the check engine light, never ran cool or over heated and was getting good mileage.i let them replace the $600 plus fan for the $100 diagnostic fee.to keep from voiding my warranty, i had to spend the $149 for an old history code, to prove that i maintained the vehicle per dealer recommendations.rip off !!!
Engine started knocking. Oil level was full. Towed to dealer. Dealer advised the main engine bearings went out. Dealer acknowledged no abuse or neglect. Gm will not replace motor. (2006 trailblazer).
I was driving home from work in my 2006 trailblazerext. After stopping at the stop sign in front of my home, i pressed the center button on the overhead console to open the garage door and proceeded to turn right as to position the vehicle to allow for backing-up onto my driveway and into the right parking half of my garage.but as i shifted the trailblazer into reverse, i began to press the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle would not move. I could feel that the transmission was not slipping, the engine was under load, and it was as if i was pressing the brake at the same time i was pressing the accelerator pedal. But, i only use my right foot, and my left foot was in front of, and against, the drivers seat, far away from both pedals. I looked over to the parking brake, but it was completely down. Using the parking brake lever, i made certain that is was not engaged. The brake light in the instrument panel was not on at any time, nor was there a warning from the driver information center (dic), nor was there any other warning or indicator showing that something was wrong. I still could not get the car to move. I placed the transmission into drive, and i could feel the transmission shift, but again, i could not get the vehicle to move. And, there was a load on the engine as if i was pressing the brake pedal at the same time as i was pressing the accelerator pedal, but the brake was not being pressed, and my left foot was far away from the pedals. Finally, after about a minute, i felt that the car was 'let go', and i was finally able to move the car normally onto my driveway and into my garage, but i was shaking a bit and am very concerned that this is going to happen again.
As identified in recall # 14v755000, the low beam headlamps will turn off at random times. This have happened several times during darkness hours and is increasing. In one case, an accident was barely avoided. I was recently (nov. 13, 2015)told by the gm dealer - the vehicle vin # does not list this as a recall item.???? last occurence is listed below.
Light keep going out while driving at night.
The bearings on the alternator are wearing and need to be replaced, the vehicle only has 29,000 miles and according to my mechanic they should not be worn this early and should be replaced as soon as possible; this is definitely a safety issue and a faulty part that i should not have to pay to have replaced. The fuel level indicator has stopped working over 2.5 years ago. I did receive a letter saying that the part may wear out prematurely and they are willing to pay 50% of the replacement but if it wears out prematurely then the part is faulty and i should not have to pay to replace the part.the backup light panel is bad, i tried to replace the bulb but the problem lies with the panel, faulty part again.
Headlights turn off while driving.happens with regularity.headlight relay defective.no replacement part available.gm denies that a recall exists.
My low beam headlights went out which shows it's a relay bad online it shows that there was a recall but in the database it doesn't show up for my vehicle
The headlights are not working properly. Sometimes the headlights work but other times they turn off. The high beams and marker lights are not affected. This also applies to the daytime running lamps and occurs in motion or at a stop.
The low beam headlights on my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext continue to go out. The problem started about 3 years ago where initially the drivers side low beam light would turn on and off intermittently. Then, the pig-tail wiring to the bulb burned up (luckily not causing a fire, which my mechanic said could have happened). The pig-tail was replaced and the light worked, but only for about 8-10 months, which the wiring burned up again. The same mechanic replaced the wiring again, and this time it only lasted about 6-8 months, and he replaced it yet again. This final wiring replacement lasted, but the relay went up. We replaced the relay several months ago, but now the light is starting to work intermittently again, worrying me that the pig-tail will burn up again and possibly catch fire. The first time it burned up, i noticed some very noxious fumes while driving which nauseated me terribly. I understand other trailblazers have this problem. I would love to see a recall on it as there is a similar recall on some of the trailblazers for the brake lights.
Fuelgauge sending unit failure.
Fuel sensor and/or sending unit installed in the 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext is defective.initially, the needle bobbles between the actual fuel level and empty but eventually sits at the empty reading despite the actual fuel level. The defect, which should be recalled, could result in the vehicle running out of fuel, stalling out and possible rear ending by another vehicle.i have been told by several dealerships and it is evident in several blogs that the average cost to fix the problem is $800.00.it is also clearly a widespread problem as evidenced by several internet blogs and dealership confirmations.please initiate a recall.
The bearings on the alternator are wearing and need to be replaced, the vehicle only has 29,000 miles and according to my mechanic they should not be worn this early and should be replaced as soon as possible; this is definitely a safety issue and a faulty part that i should not have to pay to have replaced. Gas gauge is no longer working and gas light stays on no matter what the fuel level is.
Fuel sensor failure on 2006 trailblazer.this has happened twice in two years. The first time the vehicle was under warranty, now it is not for the exact same failure.
The issues started about a month ago when i had two unexpected stalls due to empty fuel tank.the needle was indicating that fuel was still available, though near empty.then finally the mystery was solved on november 15 when the fuel level sender finally failed.i filled the tank normally but when i started the vehicle, the needle stayed at empty, low fuel light came on and low was displayed in the range speedo display.after a quick search, i realized the source of all my problems.another faulty trailblazer fuel level sender.i purchased the part from my local dealership and replaced my part (no need to replace the entire pump assembly).however at close inspection, i see that gm has changed the design of the metal "wipers" the slide along the resistor segments on the sender.clearly they realized at some point that the design needed improvement.the new sender's wipers are fewer in number, but are wider and appear to made from slightly thicker metal.all considered, the new design is more robust and i anticipate longer life.unfortunately, as i read all the complaints, we all share the same issue and have paid various amounts to get the issue resolved.i am fortunate that it only cost me the part and one entire evening.others are not so lucky, they pay whatever the dealership needs to fix the faulty part.this is clearly widespread, early life failure and should be addressed by gm with compensation for a faulty and now improved design.
Last year i purchased a 2006 trailblazer ext and last week i filled up the tank only to have the fuel gauge peg on e for empty. After about three hours of driving did it finally go to full. I'm filing this because after pulling out code po463 with my tester and researchingthis fuel sensor failure on the web i found out that about 400 other trailblazer owners have the same defect. From the looks of it the cost is around $800-$1000.00 to repair. Why isn't this a safety defect already. My wife and child depend on this vehicle and i can,t have it run out of gas in the middle of a busy highway.(usaf retired).
Fuel gauge does not register correct amount of fuel in tank, and at times blows fuel gauge fuse.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext. The contact stated that the fuel gauge warning indicator illuminated after refueling and often , while driving at various speeds. The warning light remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. Additionally, the fuel gauge would not display an accurate fuel level reading. The contact notified the authorized dealer where they advised that the fuel tank senor would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was approximately 100,000. Updated 5/24/11
When i fill my gas tank the fuel gauge goes to empty and stays there, and sometimes goes erratic up and down so you never know how much fuel is in the tank.i am very afraid that by not knowing how much gas is in the tank, it may lead to over filling and causing a fire hazard at the pump by spewing gas all over to running out of gas in a passing lane of a highway possibly causing serious injury to myself or anyone else in my 2006 trailblazer, to injury or death to anyone in their car that may hit me or run into someone else to avoid me.this is an extremely dangerous situation that i see occurs to many, many others with my 2006 gm trailblazer similar models of different years!!at this time i have not gotten to a mechanic on this issue, but seeing on blogs it appears to be the sensing unit and fuel pump.
This issue is with the 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext ls model. The issue is with the fuel level sensor. This part will fail without notice and occurred on my vehicle at 50k miles. The failure is permanent and will make the vehicle fail any state required safety inspections. The issue can be corrected. It will cost approximately $100 for the part. Labor costs anywhere between $400-$500.
The gas gauge first started by reading the wrong amount of fuel, then only after running for about 10 minutes would it read the correct amount of fuel.the about 15 days after initial issue it started to show only the correct amount of fuel when it was started up then it would go to empty, even if the tank was filled up.now it currently does not move and the "low fuel level" shows up every time you start the car.after doing much research on this i realized there were other peopel who were having the exact same problem.
We ran out of gas on an interstate highway, despite the gauge indicating fuel was left in the tank.we drifted to a stop on the shoulder and i had to obtain fuel from the nearest service station 5 miles away and then return to the vehicle, leaving my wife and 3 young children unattended.afterward, the fuel gauge only periodically functioned for the next 2-3 fill-ups and now does not work at all - the gauge constantly reads "empty" and the fuel light is always on.we ran out of gas on one additional instance because of this malfunction on a busy freeway offramp and now must constantly carefully check our mileage everytime we fill the tank.
In summer of 2011 i had the first occurrence of the fuel gauge incorrectly showing the fuel level.this went on for several weeks and then went back to normal for a few months.as of january of this year, i have the issue again , only this time the fuel gauge is down completely and showing empty 90% of the time.i have contacted gm and they are aware of the issue and offer 50% discount on repair.this should be a recall as this is a serious issue and obviously affecting a very large number of owners of this model of chevrolet.
Fuel sending unit for 06 chevy trailblazer. Inop. Leading to stranded vehicle.
I purchased a 2006 trailblazer in 2006. It ran great until about 36000 miles when the fuel gauge began acting up. At about 36500 mile, the gauge quit working and i took it to the dealer and was told it would be 800.00 to repair. I have to try to gauge how many miles i can get on a tank of gas. It has been like this for over a year and a half. I have run out of gas twice, once in the summer with two small children in the car and once in the winter. This is a very dangerous situation and needs to be addressed by gm. I understand they say they will discount the repair 50 %, but this is not something the consumer has control over. We can not cause the damage as it is inside the gas tank.we have 2 gm products and if it is not remedied they may be our last. Maybe it is time for someone to file a class action suit. And we might all end up with new vehicles. I would think the recall would be less expensive.
2006 fuel gauge not working trailblazer.
The fuel gauge sensor is malfunctioning in my 2006 chevy trailblazer. In reading on-line posts, this is a common problem that gm is ignoring. I already had to pay out of pocket for a rear differential that snapped about 7 months ago. Now i have to deal with a gas gauge that could potentially leave me out of gas or even cause problems with the fuel pump.
Fuel level sending unit randomly reports fuel levels from full to empty, or does not work at all.
As per incident number dp10001 i am on my third fuel sensor and the vehicle has left my family stranded in dangerous situations several times due to the faulty part. The faulty part is presently preventing me from passing emissions.
My 2006 trailblazer has 50,000 miles the gas gauge started going from empty to full while in transit and now it just stays on e all the time now.from my research this is a common problem with most 06 trailblazers and it been going on for more than a year in the chevy's.it cost almost 800.00 and i don't have the money to have it fixed so i have to use the trip meter to keep track of my gas through mileage. This all started when the mileage was about 32,000 miles.
Erratic fuel gauge for couple of days and abrupt engine power loss, fuel gauge stayed below empty mark even after full fill up.
2006 trailblazer ext 4.2 6cyl...is having fuel gauge problems.as far as i know i am not the only trailblazer owner with this problem.fuel gauge reads empty with low fuel light on. And check engine light for the same problem when tank is full.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext.after refueling the vehicle, the fuel level gauge dropped from full to empty and would not display an accurate reading of gasoline in the vehicle. The low fuel light would constantly illuminate and the contact stated she would have to refuel the vehicle daily. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised the contact that they would have to drop the fuel tank and repair the sensor at her expense. There were no recalls for the failure. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that they were not aware of the failure and would not provide any further assistance. The failure mileage was 56,000.
2006 chevy trailblazer faulty fuel sending unit , started giving false amounts and now does not work at all.
Fuel gauge was not working properly.it would fluctuate constantly.
I have a 2006 trailblazer ext and the traction is no longer operational..this is unacceptable and needs to be recalled as i am not the only one experiencing this issue.does someone need to be killed before action is taken?nothing has been done to correct due to the high cost for the repair.what is chevy going to do in that it is a serious defect with their vehicle?secondly, the gas gauge stop working and i ran out of gas.this is another serious defect that will cause others to be killed.once again a recall needs to be put in place before someone is harmed.where is chevy's liability in these issues?
Chevy trailblazer ext 2006. Just passed 60k miles and my fuel gauge is not working correctly.
I filled my vehicle with fuel and went to start it and it died.i restarted it and it lugged and died.i started it again and it was running ok, but i noticed the fuel gauge was stuck at empty and my low fuel warning kept dinging.once my tank got to about 3/4 full the gauge would work again.after a few months, the gauge never works and i have to try to keep a really close eye on the mileage to know when i need to fill up.we took the car to an auto parts store and had them do a read on the computer because our service engine light is also on half the time.it came back as a "sending unit malfunction"it could be the float or the sending unit.the repair was quoted as $600.00 so we cannot afford to fix it yet.the vehicle was only at 45,000 miles when this occurred.
Fuel gauge does not work. Started with misleading readings but stopped working altogether now.
Today for the 5th time my vehicle ran out of gas, this time on a busy highway right after i turned onto the highway. I had to be pushed out of the way of traffic. A truck came with fuel and i was able to get to a gas station. One of course pays a mark up on the fuel when it is brought to you. The dealership where i purchased it does not service chevrolet's any longer. Another dealership in town says there is nothing to be done until there is a recall. This is very dangerous. I would like to sell the vehicle but who would buy a vehicle like this? i missed a clinic appointment, someone had to come pick up my son to get him to school and i rearranged my morning. The previous times i have been on my way to work or in to town. Once my son and i had to walk into town to get a gas can and walk back with the fuel. Another time aaa came but i missed all morning of work. Another time i was at a stoplight and it ran out of fuel and my older son and some basketball players, also in my vehicle, pushed the vehicle up the block into the gas station. The other time it ran out while i was on a main street but i was able to coast into a nearby gas station. I was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty when it began at about 75,000. I was told it would be 700$ and maybe more to fix and that to evaluate it meant paying most of the 700$. I watch my fuel mileage very carefully so i know when to refill. Today it stopped sooner than it should have. So now i can' t rely even on the mileage. I would not feel safe taking this vehicle on any longer trip. Five times is too many in 15 months especially when it stops suddenly in intersections and on highways.
2006 chevrolet trailblazer v6, gas gauge is failing, reading empty when tank is full and reading full when tank is empty. On an internet discussion board there are many people with the same problem .
Fuel gauge stop working and out of fuel light stays on even with a full tank of fuel.
Fuel gauge 2006 trailblazer stopped working and the low fuel light stays on!
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext. The contact stated that the fuel gauge constantly displayed inaccurate readings. The failure progressed until the fuel gauge constantly displayed a reading of empty. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 104,000.
The fuel sensor in my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer has been spuriously failing.it does not accurately represent the amount of fuel that is in my tank.sometime it will say that my tank is full when i know that it is not, and sometimes it will say that my tank is empty immediately after filling it.my car has 65,000 miles on it.
The fuel gauge stopped working and we were told to take it to our local chevy. Dealer, where wewere told that chevy would fix this problem by paying half the cost to repair the problem, this is such a rip off ,there problem yet we have to pay half to fix it ,not right. I have gone tomany web sites and this is a verycommon problem with chevy trailblazers, all years . They should be recalled and chevy. Made to fix there problem for nothing.
The fuel gauge on our 2006 chevy trailblazer has failed along with the check engine light coming on resulting from numerous codes. The entire fuel pump/filter/sending unit has to be replaced and the vehicle wont pass and inspection without it. Gm needs to recall this vehicle for this problem and refund owners who have spent money fixing the problem.
2006 chevrolet trailblazer 65,000 miles, lost power on the interstate at 70 mph resulting in a near crash. Gas gage read 1/2 tank when leaving home, car stalled after 5 miles. Tried to re-start engine and the low fuel warning light and chime came on. Vehicle would not re-start. Family member brought a can of gas for the vehicle at it ran fine. Since that time the gas gage has been more sporadic. If i fill the tank, it may read full, it may read empty. It sometimes reads full, then drops to 1/2 then to e in less than 5 miles. Called chevrolet dealer where i bought it. The service department stated it was the fuel sending unit, without ever seeing the vehicle. Service manager stated isa common problem with these vehicle.
I started having problems with the fuel gauge swinging between full and empty then my check engine light came on.i've been told that i need an whole new fuel pump assembly and that the fuel tank will have to be dropped to replace it. I've been just setting the trip meter and filling it up every 250 miles because the fuel gauge now just stays lit on empty all the time. I don't have any problems with it running, starting, etc. So i'm assuming that it's just the sensor that is out. 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext.
Erratic fuel level readings on fuel gate.once this started it was regular and would read full, empty, partially full regardless of actual fuel level.replaced fuel pump module and level sensor.old part is not still available.i am reporting this because i heard there is an investigation i had a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer extended 2wdwe had no safety issues as we discovered it was not working and monitored miles driven to prevent running out of fuel.
I have a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext and since about the 40,000 mark, the gas gauge is not working. It displays that it is on empty all the time.when i took it to the chevy dealer, they said it would cost over $500 to repair it. This is a safety issue and should be recalled.
Was driving car with quarter tank of gas and suddenly fuel gauge dropped to empty.filled tank with gas and gauge began to fluctuate between levels then began to read correctly for several days.at a quarter tank it dropped to empty again.filled with gas and is now fluctuating again.this could be a real hazard if i run out of gas on the interstate.after all the complaints i've read about this problem i don't think i should have to use my extended warranty and pay a deductible for something that should be a recall.
I was on a trip when i had stopped to fuel up my tank because it wad close to empty so once i fueled it up to full and turned my car back on for a second it showed full tank then just strolled to empty and after fee minutes went back to full. Couple days later the gauge just started going crazy and showing all kinds of levels of the fuel tank. Now it only stays on empty with the yellow light on. But before this all happened my oil pressure sensor stopped working. Its frustrating and i've been left without gas on middle of road a few times.
2006 chevrolet trailblazer lt, ext fuel sensor does not register fuel level in tank after filling up. (a full tank reads empty). The fuel tank low fuel light comes on making it unusable.
I bought a 2006 chevy trailblazer in january 2009.once i reached about 40,000 miles, i stopped to get gas and after i filled up, my light indicating i needed gas came on (it was not on prior to getting gas).i knew i had gas so i kept driving; my engine light then came on.both of them have now been on for over a year.in order to replace the sensor, i need a $500 part!i keep track of my mileage and fill up every 250 miles.last week, my car just shut down, while traveling down a hill with my two children, i was apparently out of gas.we nearly crashed into multiple vehicles!i have seen that there are hundreds of the same problems in this vehicle and i believe it should definitely be recalled.i learned what can happen when someone thinks there is gas in the tank and there is not...i had to turn on my 4 ways and honk the horn because i had no brakes, no steering, etc...i had to use my emergency brake to stop andhad to tell my 10 year old to hang on and cover his 2 year old brother!!!the fact that chevy has been made aware of this and done nothing makes me sick!my entire family was in danger...thank you!
Fuel gage at times drops to empty and has run out of gas when showing there was fuel in the tank.*ln
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext.the contact stated that the fuel gauge would read inaccurate fuel levels.the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and offered to assist with the cost of repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 49,000 and the current mileage was 56,000. The vin was unavailable.
Fuel tank sensor went out on my 2006 chevy trailblazer with only about 36,000 miles on it. Was told by dealership that warranty would not cover it. Since then even though i track my mileage i have run out of gas multiple times, can't afford to have it replaced. Price quotes have been in the 550-600 dollar range.
[xxx]
Like thousands of other owners (since this happens to the gmc envoy too, so it's not just a chevy issue), one day the gas gauge works fine, the next it reads empty after filling it up. However, as a bonus, the friendly check engine light now comes on randomly to let me know the fuel gauge isn't working. I've had the codes read by two different places and this is the only error recorded.i now have to use the trip meter to "guess" when the truck needs filling up. Since it's going to cost me several hundred dollars i don't have to fix it, i'll just have to live with the inconvenience. In massachusetts, like many other states, they do an emissions test by plugging into the vehicle's computer. Well, since the check engine light has come on at some point, the computer says "not ready" and the vehicle fails the test. You have to wait until the light goes off and then drive about a week before the computer resets itself. However, without fail, the light always comes back on just before taking it back to get re-inspected, thus resetting the whole process. I've had this happen for the last 3 weeks in a row regardless of number of days/miles driven. Another week and another tank of gas wasted. So, in order to get the car to pass inspection, i either have to get real lucky with the check engine light or have the repair made. Since this issue prevents the vehicle from passing the state inspection, it should be considered a safety/emissions concern and all vehicles recalled to repair the combination fuel pump/sending unit. If gm doesn't consider this a concern and recall the vehicles for this repair, then they need to have the vehicles recalled to have the check engine light stop coming on so the vehicles can pass state inspections.
Fuel gauge stays on empty and low fuel light stays on.
Chevrolet trailblazers are having problems with fuel gauge not working properly. Chevrolet knows about the problem and they know that lots and lots of their trailblazers are not working properly with the fuel sensors and are charging people $800-$1,000 to fix a problem they should recall.my trailblazer has approximately 76,000 miles and the fuel gauge broke yesterday.this is a concern because you can not tell when you are low in gas.when driving down the interstate, you could cause or be in an accident if your car runs out of gas going down a busy interstate at 70 mph not knowing if you have sufficient fuel or not.gm should recall the trailblazers since so many of the vehicles have had a problem with the gas gauge. Fuel system malfunctions are dangerous.
I have a 2006 chevy trailblazer. I am having problems with the fuel gauge.it is always on empty, even after i fill it up. I've called chevy about the problem.i've seen on topix.com that are about 589 people with the same issue.
2006 chevy trailblazer runs out of fuel.the low fuel light fails to work.the gauge is off slightly.vehicle has 52,000 miles, this first start in 2009 with 42,000 miles.
I ran out of gas on expressway on way home from work while gauge showed 1/4 tank. This happened again months later with tank showing just under 1/4 tank. Gauge around the time of first incident started bouncing around off and on at any reading while suv was running. It would go from empty to 1/2 a tank and bounce around back and forth eventually stopping at a random amount. The gauge would go to empty when it was full until it was driven enough that i was down to around 3/4 of a tank then it would give the correct reading until guessing around 1/4 of a tank when the incidents happened with me running out of gas. A few months later the gauge completely quit working and has yet to work since then. I started researching online about the gauge and found multiple incidents with same year and make and many people stating they paid over $700 to have repairs done and multiple people stating they had it fail again. Since reading those remarks i have yet to have it repaired and have had to keep track of my mileage so that i don't run out of fuel again.
After getting gas and getting back in truck, i noticed the fuel gauge read e. After driving 100 plus miles the gauge would slowly drift up to half, then fall back to e. Over time it got worse until the fuel gauge read e all the time. I finally convinced the dealership this was under ca emission warranty and they agreed to fix it. When they were doing the repair, they noticed the main connector for the fuel pump got hot and melted and was ready to short out. So they replaced the entire fuel pump assy. Also they noticed the clips that hold the fuel line to the tank were never installed by the manufacturer. So they installed those as well. The service dept knew about this problem right away, which tells me this has been a on going problem and they just do the repair under warranty to avoid any recalls. This is becoming a problem with more and more vehicles, and no one is willing to investigate this issue, unless the vehicle finally catches fire and someone loses their life before someone acts. If a fuel pump assy has a melted connector, there is something seriously wrong.
Vehicle bought aug 2010 with 76, 014 miles on it. About one month after the purchase the gas gauge starting acting erratic. ( could have been that way when we bought it but didn't notice.) when you would fill it up it would still read e until you drove about 50 miles off from it then it would bounce around sometimes reading correct other times not. I ran out of gas on i-69 one time fortunately for me no one was behind me because i the whole vehicle starting jerking and eventually just shut off. The vehicle still read that it had gas at that point. In february 2011 the gas gauge just quit working all together would read e even when you filled it all the way up. Had to use gallons used to tell how much fuel was in it. May 2011 the check engine light started coming on and off. July 11, 2011 i took it to a gm service shop found out the error for the check engine light was the fuel sensor and the same reason the gauge wasn't working. $458 and change to have it fixed. I had it fixed because i couldn't afford to run out of gas on the freeway again with three small children that are frequently riding with me. Looking for a recall because this is a very widespread issue and a potentially dangerous one when people are running out of gas on major freeways because of it.
Our 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext ls has a faulty the fuel gauge. At first it would show full when we filled up, but after driving for 5 minutes would go to empty. At around 1/4 a tank it would go back to an accurate level. Now it never even registers the fuel level anymore, and the check engine light stays on all the time. I am afraid of stalling, especially since i have children with me. The dealership told me that they couldn't fix it because no recall had been issued. This problem started at around 36,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext. The contact stated that after refueling the vehicle, the fuel gauge displayed a reading of empty and the low fuel warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure persisted. The failure mileage was 48,000 and the current mileage was 53,000. The vin was unavailable.
I have a 2006 chevy trailblazer ext with a fuel sending gauge problem. When i fill the tank, the guage indicates a full tank but the "needle" stays locked on full until i've driven approximately 50 miles - then the needle shows the fuel level at about 3/4 of a tank. Further driving makes the needle fluctuate wildly until sometime in the next 50/100 miles the needle falls to the empty mark and stays there. Recently there has been a new development: the needle never moves off the empty mark when i fill up and today, after filling up yesterday, the needle sits on the empty mark with the low fuel light on. I have resorted to bringing a gas can with me and using the odometer to "guesstimate" the amount of fuel i have left. Not always the best solution.
2006 trailblazer ext; fuel level sensor, sending unit, etc.at 34,000 miles around sept, 2009 right after filling up, the fuel gauge went to "empty' and the light went on with the warning bell sounding 5 times upon starting the vehicle.the check engine light also illuminated, but did go off by itself after 1 day. The gauge stayed at empty for approximately 50 miles after which it began to function properly, and then below about a third of a tank it went to zero again.over time the portion of time the gauge functions properly has decreased.now it registers about a quarter tank for only about 25 miles worth of driving, typically from 50 to 75 miles after filling it up.i've been aware of the preponderance of similar complaints, and have put off getting it fixed...just using the odometer...so far the odometer still works.a local chevy dealer would not comment on this as a common issue, but wants a $49 minimum to look at it, which is more likely to be a full hour at $99, just to diagnose.i'm not interested in having a dealer look at it since it's out of warranty, but will put up with it until i find a trustworthy mechanic who will not fleece our family.this constitutes a safety problem in my opinion, but beyond my opinion this is a known issue that remains unresolved by gm to my knowledge.this is my firstgm vehicle in 20 years, and i can safely say that unless gm shares some responsibility it will be my last.
Please open an investigation into the performance of the fuel tank sensor in 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. It is defective and the fuel level jumps around continuously. The sensor is defective and could result in a vehicle running out gas and causing an accident that could result in major injuries.
Went to get gas for my 2005 chevy trailblazer. When i did i got back in the vehicle and started the car. The empty sensor for the gas dinged alerting me that i was almost out of gas and wouldn't go above the empty level. It now plays tricks ranging from full to empty at any given point it can be full 1 time then go to 1/4 full then back up to full in 1 trip to the store. It appears this is a common issue from research on the internet.
I have a 2006 chevy trailblazer. Since my vehicle hit 69000 miles my fuel gauge has become inoperable. I have tried to get it fixed but it is $1300 and no guarantee that it will not happen again since the part has not been changed. It stalls on many occasions as if i have no gas. I have run out of gas so i know how many miles i can go.
Gas gauge does not work.check engine light stays on and gauge shows empty all the time.
2006 chevy trailblazer gas gage is dropping to empty and gas alarm goes off when it has almost 1/2 a tank. There are thousands of complaints for this problem on line, and it has been dangerous. I think there needs to be a recall. If you can search this problem on line you would see how bad it has been.
Bought 2006 chevy trailblazer ext used from the dealer in 2009 for commute to and from work. Upon reaching 63,000 miles began to have problems with fuel gauge reading half full them empty even after just having filled up the tank at the station. As a result check engine light activated and when it came time to inspect the vehicle no one at the local dealerships were willing to drop the gas tank and fix the problem so i could pass inspection. Penna state emissions would not pass the vehicle until the fuel system was repaired, hence cannot pass inspection.i will no longer use the vehicle on long trips where i have to guess how much gas i have in the tank, or take it on busy highways like 95 or 83 near washington close to where i live. Problem description seems to be consisent with this model year. While i was willing and able to pay for my repair the first time, it is not my responsibility to account for a shoddy product. Gm has already attempted to contact me and cover 50% of the repair via mail. This is an insult to my intelligence and i should not have to fork over one red cent to get this fixed given the massive amount of complaints about the same problem on the same vehicle. Ignition switch also failed at 60,000 miles. Yetanother item i am finding is a recurring problem with this model, make and year.
Fuel gauge showed i was empty after filling up the car.the gauge now reads erratically and does not show the proper amount of fuel in the tank.my wife is the primary driver of this car and i fear that she will run out of gas due to the "failure" of the gauge.we are doing our best to drive by mileage but our mpg varies quite a bit depending on our driving situation.just received a letter from gm advising they will pay 50% of repair costs.however, i feel that this safety related item failure should be covered entirely by gm via a recall.anything you can do to help would be appreciated.thanks [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
Fuel gauage defective. Gauge was not accurate i ran out of fuel, now fuel guage non-operational.
4wd quit working and was told by the dealership today i needed to replace the transfer case for over $2,000.already reported the fuel sensor quit working. Told by a phone rep for nhtsa it could take at least a year to investigate and was given a phone number for the ftc.my car has under 44,000 and when the transfer case went it there was a smell of smoke.
As with many other posters and complainants, i too have an issue with the low fuel light on my 2006 chevy trailblazer.it will show low fuel even after filling up as well as waiver from full to empty while driving.this nearly became a problem as my family and i were driving on a long stretch of highway in which no gas station was a round for 100 miles.thankfully the gauge was wrong in telling us it was low as it could have been very bad due to the time of night when we were driving.i have not fixed the problem yet.for now i am judging my gas level based on the odometer reading and estimated gas mileage.problem began to occur around 43,000 and is now at 48,000 miles.
Fuel gauge on my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer has started working erratically or not at all.every time i fill my tank, the gauge stays at empty at first, then eventually starts working, but sometimes erratically.it can go up or down for no apparent reason, showing the tank as being completely empty when it is, in fact, full.i have not replaced it to this point as my vehicle is out of warranty, instead using the odometer to track actual mileage and filling the tank accordingly.based on research on the internet, this appears to be an extremely common problem with chevrolet trailblazers built since 2004.the average cost to repair, again according to internet research is $500-$700.this is a safety issue because it could result in running out of gas in an inconvenient or dangerous location, such as while driving at highway speeds on an expressway, or in a secluded or inaccessible area.given the extent of this problem, why has there not yet been a recall for this issue?
The fuel sending unit has quit working. Can not tell how much gas is in the gas tank by the gas gauge. When gas runs out, vehicle stops with no warning causing a possible accident especially in heavy traffic or at a stop light.
My 2006 chevy trailblazer ext fuel gauge sensor failed at 48000 miles resulting with no way of knowing how much fuel is in the tank which could result in engine stalling and/or rear ended by another or pulling out onto the highway and broad sided.
I own a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext and the fuel gauge never registers the correct amount of fuel.it always fluctuates between empty and 3/4 full even after filling the tank completely.i have had this problem for at least one month now and the repairs will be at least $500.00 to complete.the problem is still occurring as i can not afford to replace the part at this time and hopefully no further problems will emerge in the meantime.i have been researching the problem over the internet to determine if others are having similar problems.this appears to be a trend that has been ongoing for a few years now.this would be a huge courtesy if the manufacturer would do a recall for this fuel sensor problem and avoid legal action as well as to continue upholding a great american legacy such that chevrolet has built.
Fuel gauge stopped working at 60k -- shows as empty even after filling up.
Gas gauge does not work properly and is very sporadic in its readings.
Fuel system, gasoline.
Fuel sensor failure, does not read true fuel tank level. Generally when full reads empty then as tank decreases gauge may read correct.
I was driving the truck and the fuel gauge was reading that there was gas in the tank. The vehicle died causing loss of power steering and power brakes. I was able to pull the truck to the side of the road with great effort. Had my wife or teenage daughter been driving the outcome might had been very different.afterfilling the gas tank the gauge went to e and never worked properly afterwards.
Own a 2006 chevrolet trail blazer. Have run out of gas three times because the gas gauge does not read. The car is full of gas, but the gauge still reads empty. Have run out of gas on main roads and caused traffic jams. Will cost over $1000 to repair the fuel pump.
The fuel gauge stays on empty with light on all the time andhave heard this is a big problem with this vehicle.have to fillup suv, set mileage to 0.0 and fill up around 225 miles driven since this costs a lot to fix.another problem that is happening a lot to this vehicle is problems with the blower not working because the resistor and harness burn out.
We have a 2006 chevy trailblazer we purchased new.......fuel guage will so full tank then empty.guage is not accurate at all and most the time does registers nothing.
The gas tank registers empty even when full. Gas gage floats randomly up and down, not staying accurate, gas light coming on constantly saying "low fuel" even as pulling away from the tank after a complete fillup. Had been doing it for a few weeks off/on, now constant. Gauge constantly reading empty, rarely moving at all. Gas light stays on. Now seems to be causing problems with engine/transmission.car is suddenly moving slow when accelerating initially.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds the vehicle would stall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they advised the contact that the evaporator vent failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. Updated 10/12/11updated 3/30/12
2006 chevy trailblazer, fuel gauge light and fuel indicator activates when there is still plenty of gas in the vehicle. Once the gas gets down to 1/2 or 1/4 tank of gas it will activate the empty fuel light. This is a major concern and safety problem as it is misleading. I don't know how much fuel is actually in the tank. It could run dry and leave a person stranded. We do a lot of night driving and i certainly wouldn't want my pregnant wife running out of fuel in the middle of our "not so safe" city which by the way has one of the highest murder rates in the states. So yes, this is a safety issue that should be addressed and covered by the gm.
At 30,000 miles the fuel gauge on my 206 trailblazer started giving wrong readings. It never has the correct amount on the gauge. It has caused me to run out of fuel on several occasions. I have been lucky to not cause an accident. As the mileage can change based on driving i have to just fill up every 200 mile to be safe. Gm has told me this repair is not covered under any warranty and would cost about $1000.00 for them to replace the fuel sending unit.
The fuel gauge on our 2006 chevy trailblazer has failed along with the check engine light coming on resulting from numerous codes. The entire fuel pump/filter/sending unit has to be replaced (a $300 part) and the vehicle won't pass and inspection without it. Gm needs to recall this vehicle for this problem and refund owners who have spent money fixing the problem if they want to continue to stay in business.
Fuel gauge does not work properly.it does notaccurately indicate amount of gas in tank and fluctuates. Low fuel light comes on even when there is gas in the tank.
The fuel gauge in my chevrolet trailblazer ext failed resulting in the vehicle stalling on a busy road.this is the second time that the gauge on this car has malfunctioned (was repaired by the dealer after a similar incident about 2 years ago).at this time, the gauge once again does not work at all.
Fuel gauge began operating erratically and now is inoperable.
Fuel sensor defects in the 2006 chevrolet trailblazers.has been replaced and again not working. I have seen dozens of theses complains from chevrolet owners.
On my 2006 chevy trailblazer ext, the gas gauge has begun to work erratically. It has just less than 40,000 miles on it and is out of warranty. In searching the internet, it appears there are hundreds of people with this issue.
Fuel gauge will show gas left in car, no low fuel indicator light coming on and will run out of gas.have ran out twice on expressway because indicating has fuel but doesn't.
I have 2006 chevy trailblazer. I have been having problems with the fuel gauge. I look up info on line and i'm not the only one with this kind of problem on chevy trailblazer. Even when i fill up on gas it still reads empty. Everyone that has this problem said it happens when you reach 40,000 mlies. This is very dangerous.
Fuel level sensor indicates tank is empty at all time.this fault could result in the auto running out of fuel, stall, or be rear ended by another vehicle.results of such an event could result in mugging, rape or death.
The gas gauge does not work.the low light fuel is always on and the fuel level always shows empty even when there is a full tank of gas.
My 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext lt has a faulty fuel gauge. It will read empty and the low fuel light will come on, then it will go back to full, continually fluctuating back and forth.at first it will show full when we fill up, but after driving for a few minutes would go to empty. The check engine light stays on all the time. I am afraid of stalling. This problem started at around 62,000 miles.
2006 chevrolet trailblazer has a problem with the fuel gauge not working.it appears to be the fuel sending unit.this website is full of people with the same issue, someone needs to make them do something http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/chevrolet-trailblazer/th8ji6tepo3vrji3d.
I own a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext and the fuel gauge never registers the correct amount of fuel. It always fluctuates between empty and 3/4 full even after filling the tank completely. I have had this problem for at least one month now and the repairs will be at least $500.00 to complete. The problem is still occurring please see website http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2006/chevrolet/trailblazer+ext i have been researching the problem over the internet to determine if others are having similar problems. This appears to be a trend that has been ongoing for a few years now. This would be a huge courtesy if the manufacturer would do a recall for this fuel sensor problem and avoid legal action as well as to continue upholding a great american legacy such that chevrolet has built.
The fuel gauge quite working at 75,000 and is caused by the fuel sending unit being defective. This causes a hazard since unable to determine amount of fuel available and could cause engine to quit on road. From all items i have read about this seems to be a defective part and even when repaired goes back out.
Gas gauge stopped working @ 45,000 miles.just filled up and the gauge started going from full to empty back and forth every few seconds.after searching the internet, this seems to be happening to several thousand customers of the same vehicle type......is there a recall on this???if not, then why?
Three weeks ago, after our 2006 chevy trailblazer ext was filled up, the gas gauge went to empty and then went back and forth before finally going towards full.however, we are not sure if it is accurate at any point.this occurs every time we fill the tank up in the truck.we have not had it fixed, but an estimated cost has been $800 to fix the sending unit and drop the tank to fix.
At around 53,000 mi i filled my gas tank and when i started the trailblazer up the fuel gauge read empty and the low fuel light was on. After about 20 miles the gauge started to register, but would intermittently drop to empty. This happens every time i fill up. Now the check engine light comes on and shuts off randomly. I have not had it checked out for a solution yet.
My vehicle is always show out of gas or fuel low.i was told that the fuel level sensor is bad and would need to be replaced.cost $600.00.i noticed that this problem has been common for many years with chevy trucks.was is going to be done about this.i think it should be a recall item dating back several years.
The gas gauge on the dashboard does not work.it always says the tank is empty, even after filling it.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext. The fuel gauge on the instrument control panel displays inaccurate fuel levels. She concluded that the fuel sensor onher vehicle has failed.the dealer or the manufacturer hasnot been contacted. The failure mileage was 60,000. The vehicle identification number was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext ls/lt. The fuel gauge on the instrument control panel inaccurately displays the amount of fuel present in the fuel tank.while driving approximately 65 mph on the highway the vehicle stalled. He was able to safely pull the vehicle to the side of road.the vehicle was towed to a local repair facility.the mechanic concluded that he would have to pay $800.00 dollars to have the gauge replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and the failure mileages were 96,000.
The gas gauge on the dashboard does not work.it always says the tank is empty, even after filling it.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext.ever since april of 2009, the low fuel indicator light illuminates on the instrument panel even when the tank is filled with gasoline.in addition, the fuel gauge never reaches the full mark, but stays between the empty and quarter tank marks.there were no prior incidents leading up to this issue.the contact feels that the failure was due to a manufacturer defect.the failure mileage was 49,000.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the fuel gauge did not function properly; it would indicate incorrect amounts of fuel in the fuel tank. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. The current mileage was approximately 56,480.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext. The fuel gauge displayed empty when the fuel tank was full. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 67,000 and the current mileage was 71,000.
Gas gauge stop measuring how much gas was in the tank back in 2012.have had to use the odometer and just keep up with my mileage.could not afford to pay to replace the fuel gauge.
My wife was going approximately 60 mph on the highway. The fuel gauge read that the tank had a little over a 1/2 of a tank left. The vehicle stalled and she almost crashed into the ditch. When she started the vehicle back up the tank read empty. My wife and kids had to wait by the side of the road in over 100 degree weather for over an hour until i was able to get away from work and take her fuel. We went directly to the gas station and put in $50 of fuel and the gauge still read empty. We have continued to put in fuel and the needle moves back and forth and always settles back on empty and the no fuel light always come on. I have no idea how much fuel there really is at this point. I am afraid to let my wife drive the vehicle any longer. This could have been a real bad situation. If my wife hadn't been able to control the vehicle and they would've crashed on the highway they could all be dead right now. I have read on other pages that this is a continuing problem and that chevy does not want to pay for the repair. I guess they won't until people start dying from this. I will never again buy a chevy vehicle.
" takata recall" gm said my recall had expired on the fuel sensor in 2015..i had it replace twice...2007 and 2009...so many recalls could not remember until going through files and found i did have these replaced
The fuel gauge crashed the gas gauge will swing from empty to full on occasion, but usually just stays on low fuel. From what i can tell this is a common problem in 05-07 trailblazers. Sometimes.
Ran out of fuel stuck on highway, fuel gauge anomaly, i see that this is a common problem for gm suv vehicles form 2006-2009, can put family is a dangerous situation with children i car at a remote location. Scary....please help us. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
When the car is put in the drive and position #3, it does not move. It only moves under position #2 and #1.
Transmission slipping and selinoids
Upon turningthe four-wheel drive engaged unknown to me at the time because the selector switch did not indicate this.the truck became difficult if not impossible to turn at low speeds as this vehicle does not have a limited slip differential in the four wheel drive mode. While turning the tires on the outside of the turn make a larger radius than do the inner tires.without any slip the vehicle tries to maintain the same linear footage travel by each tire. This causes the tires to bind lock up and skid during turns.i have researched this problem on internet forums and it seems to be a quite common occurrence and could cause crashes while turning. I have contacted the manufacture and the response was for me to take it to a dealer and pay for them to look at it. I declined their suggestion and offered the compromise of taking it to an independent mechanic at my own cost,to which they declined.please note i did not ask them to repair the vehicle at their cost but only wanted them to examine the vehicle for defective design/material.
While driving , the vehicle would shift from 2wheel drive down to 4 low, causing a very rapid decrease in speed and loss of control over vehicle, depending on driving speeds and rd conditions this could causea very dangerous accident. I have had the vehicle into the dealer 4 times in the last month and they have replaced , 4wheel drive switch on dash, encoder motor on transfer case and reprogrammed stabiltrac, vehicle is still at dealer and trying to solve problem. Dealer has been very polite and understanding during this entire process.

The glue that holds the rear window on the vehicle separates from the window, causing the window to blow out. We noticed the window was lopsided so we opened it and found that one side of the window had come unglued. We took it to the dealership this morning and they said it couldn't be reglued - it would have to be completely replaced. Chevy won't cover it because it's out of warranty. We left and he called us with the quote of $1000 for replacement. Just a few minutes later, the entire window blew out. It shattered glass all over the road and vehicle, even hitting us in the back of the head. Luckily our daughter was not in the car. The plastic cover that sits over the top of the window flew off the back and into traffic. There was a car behind us but there wasn't much traffic so they managed to avoid being hit. No one was hurt when it exploded but it could very easily have hurt someone in the back seat or in vehicles behind us.
I had by back hatch open and i grabbed the door handle to close it.i pulled it down and as i pulled it down i hear a pop and all the glass shattered down on me with the door still open up in the air.three weeks later i replaced the window. (not a cheap glass almost $1000 with labor to replace) the mechanic opened and closed the door and the hatch to test for defects.all went well.i went to close the door so that i can leave the mechanic shop and i heard the pop and the glass shattered again.gmc has no recalls for the 2006 chevy trailblazer ext ls and i have to go get this back window again.this is a great truck just don't know what is wrong with this back window.ughhhh!
My 2006 chevy trailblazer ext is junk! we purchased it used in06 it had around 20,000 miles it now has 75,000 the front doors make loud popping noises when opened and shut. They are coming loose from the frame.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph in the rain the rear of the vehicle started shaking and the rain guard trim kit on the tailgate broke and was hanging from the vehicle.the contact pulled over and removed the trim kit since it could have fallen off of the vehicle and hit someone's vehicle and caused a crash.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that there was no reason that the trim kit should have broken off of the vehicle because it was not damaged. The dealer stated that the contact was responsible for the repair since the warranty expired and there were no recalls.the contact stated the manufacturer should be responsible for the repairs since the failure was a design defect.the failure mileage was 74,000.
The electric seat control panel which is located on the drivers seat on the lower left side becomes dislodged upon a larger person sitting in the drivers seat. My vehicle had this problem and was taken to a gm garage and the panel was reattached more than once if i remember correctly. The side panel still continues to come off. The dislodging of this panel could cause the seat to move while the vehicle is in motion unexpectedly repositioning the driver and change the drivers position relative to the steering wheel as well as the brake and gas causing loss of control.
I have a 2006 chevy trailblazer ext. I was driving around and it was pretty windy. I noticed that there seemed to be alot of air coming in thru the rear hatch. When i opened the glass on the rear hatch i noticed that the hinge had come unglued from the window. Since it was windy it also caused some of the other hinges to crack and break where the 3rd brake light is located. I had to forcibly close the rear window and now it is only being heldby one hinge on the right side and in the lower middle where it closes and locks. Chevy says that it'll cost me over $1,300 to get fixed since it is out of warranty. It only has 53,000 miles on it.

I own a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext, during the summer heat i opened the top part of the back hatch (the glass area) and the entire left side of the hatch detached from the car, lifting the plastic molding on top of the vehicle holding the 3rd brake light.the bottom part of this"hinge" was only attached with an adhesive which obviously melted from the florida heat and disassembled.at this point i can no longer lift the back glass or the entire rear hatch.chevrolet will not repair or compensate us for repair of this issue as the vehicle is now out of warranty.they stated that this has been a problem on some tahoes, yukons and trailblazers and it would cost around $1700 to fix this "defect".

The coolant line that supplies the rear cooling and heating unit developed a leak.after having the suv checked out found that he supply line was rubbing against the suv body and frame.line was not put in properly.patched line with rubber hose to stop leak and to protect from any more rubbing against frame.
Takata recall if fluid, such as melted snow containing road salt, enters the driver's door module, it may cause corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board. A short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to function intermittently or may stop working. The dealership cannot fix the vehicle due to the vehicle being a total loss on march 1 of 2015

No control of windshield wiper.wipers start and stop on their own. On/off switch has no control once the wipers start.this situation will wear out blades, leaving the driver without wiper when needed.
The windshield washer and wiper start and stop on their own.the on/off switch is in the off position and they stay on. When the washer has water it sprays constantly.
